"Matt Peterson Matt, welcome back to the program. Hey, it's great to be here, Charlie. So Matt, I want to get through a couple news items here. But first, I want to play a piece of tape here from justice Alito's speech. I think he gave it in Rome, which is super scary 'cause that's where the Catholic Church is headquartered and not allowed to do that. And I want to play cut 94 here. And the way the media has responded is a new line of attack that you can see in kind of the smart coordinated circles, the people that are considered to be smarter than not. However, they are all kind of coordinating their attacks around Christian nationalism, play cut 94. Over the last few weeks, since I had the honor, this term of writing, I think, the only Supreme Court decision in the history of that institution that has been lambasted by a cold string of foreign leaders. Who felt perfectly fine commenting on American law. One of these was former prime minister Boris Johnson. But he paid the price, Matt kind of mocking Boris Johnson there, Sam Alito, who I think is the best thing George W. Bush ever gave us, probably my favorite member of the court. They're attacking him as being a Christian nationalist. What do they mean by that, Matt? Well, in their minds, of course, they think Christian nationalism is a smear. They think both of those words are bad. And if you put them together, it's too bad things. And that's one big bad thing, and it's a scary monster, which I think in their minds means something like handmaid's tale and enforced Christian religion. They think it's racist too, somehow they seem to only regard whites as Christians, interesting. But white people who are Christian controlling the country and shoving their views down everyone else's throat is what they mean by it. And the hilarious thing here is that neither of those words are bad and when you put them together, you actually get what I think millions of people throughout the country think is normal. Yes, exactly. And so The Washington Post says where justice Alito and representative green overlap on religious liberty. Now, Joshua solido is different than some of the other justices on the court. He's an originalist. However, he's pushed back against some of the other rulings that maybe Gorsuch has had, especially on immigration or Kavanaugh on some of the others. What is it about kind of clarence Thomas and Alito and some of those members of the court that stand differently than some of the more traditional Republican justices? Well, I think they don't, they don't hide behind an originalism that's too scared to rule on what the constitution means. So there's a strain of originalism that I call it technocratic that wants to shy away from really correcting 50 years of egregious liberal error when it comes to the constitution. And perhaps no case illustrates this better than roe V wade. You don't have to be on the right or left or realize that the constitution says nothing about abortion. Nothing about a right to privacy. All of this was introduced out of whole cloth a long time ago. And it's a terrible decision. It's just terrible logic. Yes. Even if you wanted to get to that result, you could write a better decision. So I think that what you see in the more bold justices is the idea that no, we will correct these errors. We will return, you know, that decision back to the states, or some of them would go even further. But I guess the boiled down, they're willing to make those judgments and they're not hiding behind a kind of proceduralism where they're not hiding behind this idea that, oh, well, we have to be very careful prudentially and respect precedent, even if the precedent is laughable..

Hey, thanks for having me on. What's happening these days? A lot happening. It feels like we're gaining ground kind of give us your analysis. How big was this week? What did this mean? And what is the new right? Well, first off, this is an enormously important week because JD Vance winning that primary for the U.S. Senate really is this shot heard round the world. They don't want to talk about it. But it has the establishment seething and very afraid. And it really is the first of, I think, a series of dominoes that are going to fall leading into this fall that are going to define this red wave as something that's not coming about due to God bless them, Mitch McConnell and others, but due to strong new leaders on the right who are taking the America first agenda and moving forward. And so really, they're not talking about this enough. This is incredibly important what just happened. Millions of dollars were spent by establishment Republicans against JD Vance. And that win, which now sets them on course to go to the U.S. Senate. It's just, it should be the shot, hurled, heard around the world. This is not over. The American right is not done. There are a number of new leaders who are saying the right things and they're brave to say it now when it's not clear who's going to win. And those people who consistently spread that message, I predict, are going to be the leaders of this red wave moving

"So yeah, I mean, look, I suppose the question that I have is why now? Do you think there's anything to the timing of this? I mean, how long were they sitting on this? What's the whole idea of it? I mean, yeah, what's your thought? I think the best analysis is that the most likely scenario is just sort of irrational pale Mary hope that I think that's right. Somebody to change their mind. I think that that's why I think Deutsche is such a likely candidate, right? She spent her whole career working on this issue and all of a sudden it's going to get blown up, right? It's like seeing your life's work disappear in addition to having what I'm sure she feels is pretty substantial moral outrage. So that's what I think that's the most likely answer. Simply not really thinking like strategically or like a machiavellian or anything, but just an emotional I hate this, what I'm going to do whatever I can desperation. I think if there is a strategic calculus it would be something like we want states to get out in front of this, knowing that rose about to repeal, so liberal states could implement pro choice like policies on the books and get ahead of it. Maybe. That would be the most likely outcome. But I don't think that makes much sense because conservative states can get out ahead of it too. It's not clear that that improves things for the pro choice movement. But that's my best guess. I still think it's just the thing that makes the most sense is just someone reacted so negatively to the potential repeal of roe, which they feel is just an outrage. So in closing here, well, I want to shift gears. You've been on the tech censorship issue more than almost anybody else in the last couple of years. What's your thought? I didn't ask you on Elon buying Twitter. It's great. I mean, we shouldn't have to depend on billionaires like coming to the rescue, literally the single wealthiest person in the world coming to the rescue and saving us from the problems of social media censorship. But I think it's an incredibly good thing that it's happening clearly he's very much anti censorship based on what he said on Twitter. I think that the left is obviously reacting in a way that we would anticipate. And I think it provides a model for potentially a different type of corporate activism. We've constantly thought about compete compete compete, right? If somebody's doing something we don't like with a big institution, well, we should just compete against it and build a brand new institution to compete with it. Well, I think there's a different model, like take it over, buy it out. That's it turns out you can do something like Twitter, maybe you could do it with something like Disney or something else. Big institution with enormous capital investments all over the place. I mean, competing with Disney's hard, I'm glad the daily wire is trying to do it. But it would be nice if we could buy it and then use the existing massive infrastructure and capital of Disney to do things that we think are good. This will be I said this the other day I said the good news of a recession and the market going down and having a lot of dollar bills is there will be buying opportunities. Let me tell you what. And there will be a lot of woke companies that could be bought and sold for parts. I'll tell you what. They got over leveraged. They got too excited in COVID. I mean, like Disney's still a $200 billion company, but they could sell parts of Disney off. Oh, I mean, they could sell, you know what, cartoon company here or writes to something there.
