"Here's matt paroled. We have some really interesting games coming up this weekend in college. Football and after last. Week's kinda snooze fest we come roaring back with some really good games to get into. Let's get to david kenyan national cultural writer for the report joining us here on the progressive guest. Line david map. Peralta aurea math. Thanks so much for having me. I'm doing well looking looking forward to this weekend. Like you said got a couple of big ones coming up Really excited to see this weekend's action so let's go with the order of when the game played who who are ranked so nebraska and oklahoma will start the day. It's a nine. Am kick here on the west coast noon eastern time kick. It's a throwback to the game of the century nebraska fans. Were all up in arms. This game is getting kicked off so early in the day. Because they think it's disrespectful time to kick and blah blah blah oklahoma's heavily favored laying twenty two points. I don't think the browns has got a shot in in heck here to keep this game within four touchdowns how do you feel about oklahoma and nebraska nebraska..

"Is pushing the arts on the sports map. Radio network powered by o'reilly auto parts and rocket mortgage live from las vegas. Here's matt paroles. Let's talk college. Football oregon's big win for the pac twelve. Ucla a big win over ucla organ goes into the shoe and beats ohio state more from the weekend. Texas is big loss to arkansas. Roster writes about college football for sports illustrated. Ross map peralto. Aria i'm wonderful. Thanks for the time. let's start with what mario cristobal team was able to do on offense to that buckeye defense. Look it's one game but were you surprised at how easily oregon was able to move the football in the buckeyes on the road. Certainly yeah it was Every time he looked up there were a lot of green grass in front of the running. Back or a lotta open spaces around the receivers It clearly A great a great job. Schematically by joe moorhead the organ offense coordinator for mississippi state head. Coach you just you know. I think going in you could kill at the game. Playing was in in that was To kind of break apart while states front seven dispensed on on defense with the rpo in that. What happened You you you saw the quarterback brown just Just play play. Incredible in the line play everybody played well and and also you know orchestrated a rpo game plan then just kept Ohio state off balance and one of the most impressive stats with that brown. Complete seventeen passes to eleven different players. It's just that's crazy in you. Don't see that a lot. And that's a good example of how oregon kept off balance that ohio state Defense and it was wild to say you know one game in college. Football can be significant oregon. Winning that game is obviously huge for the pac twelve but going forward for ohio state. Clemson loses to georgia on a neutral field by really give a three point that game pick six is what's decided that game so you can explain away. The loss clinton had georgia. Can you explain ohio state. Losing at home as a fourteen point favorite to oregon at the end of the year to justify them getting into the playoffs. It's tough If you if you know let's say Ohio state run djabel and Wins the big ten championship and they're sitting at twelve and one. I guess it probably would depend on. What other teams did specifically oregon ohio state with need oregon. They're probably be also in the playoff. Mix there But you wouldn't want that you wouldn't want them to necessarily have the same record ohio state. 'cause 'cause that could be that could be trouble. The the You would think the committee would pick oregon since won that game over ohio state. If there was like one spot route for organ go undefeated. I mean that's the best scenario here is that you have a thirteen and a team that won the pac twelve championship. And who's pretty much geared that potter That that that you know that scenario plays out would be guaranteed a playoff spot. So you need that to happen. And then obviously you need the the Maybe the or maybe the big twelve champion have to have one or two losses. But you're right. You know it comes down to like a. Let's play it out. You know if the sec champing his automatic gets in in say oregon does run the table there automatically and these two spots Well if it comes down to clinton and let's you know pencil home in there to have one spot left it comes down to cloud well one loss clemson in a one loss ohio state. That's pretty easy. Decision probably You know neutral field and you. You know you've lost as you mentioned just by a few points and really competitive game You know and by the mid third quarter late third quarter of the oregon state game. It wasn't didn't really feel that competitive The ducks for the most part had two touchdown lead for some pretty good stretches and they dominated the game at ohio state stadium so yeah that that'd be a that'd be a pretty easy decision for the selection committee you know. We don't talk a lot about this in terms of marquee. Pac twelve football games. But i was in northern california over the weekend and i was watching the game with usc in stanford in what stanford was doing. Was kind of remarkable. And it's looking at the schedule going okay this. Ucla oregon game might be one of the biggest games in late october for the pac twelve weekend. Remember i mean. How do you feel about ucla in. Could they be undefeated heading into that. Game with oregon. That'll happen at home for them this year. Yeah that's that's a big one. Everybody's kind of talking about that one which which means that. We're probably not going to get A good one I'm sure that you know. Ucla will stumble this week or something. I you know. Or i think one of our play. Maybe sanford You know or maybe oregon does but either way they they. Obviously they have three or four games each between now and then and Just because of the fact that we're getting all excited about that game in the rose bowl. I'm sure i'm sure that will One of them will be handed a loss or two and we'll be sitting there and they won't be as big but either way it you know. It's probably hard to see that. At least one of those teams Won't be undefeated by the time we get there so there's a good bit that at least for one of those teams. That is a huge game for for playoff implications if not provoke. It's exciting to think about because we haven't had That many of those games out there out west in fact. I don't know the last time we had a mid to late season. Pac twelve game between two teams with a serious playoff aspiration to have to go back. But it's probably did in quite a long time. Now maybe at least five or six years lease yeah. The ucla has got. Arizona is a stanford on the road this week or next weekend. Fresno at home than they have stanford on the road then arizona state at home than arizona on the road then wash in on the road which is really the one. I'm worried about if you're ucla fan. Before that oregon game they caught looking ahead. Washington could beat them. even though washington hasn't looked great so far. But where are you on. The steve sarkisian start at texas. So impressive i win. Louisiana khanna fell down there. Everyone had the national rankings in the hype around louisiana and they you know they don't play all that great in the second half against texas and they get the win and then they go to arkansas and they get their doors beaten off by an sec team that they're going to see a lot in the future because they're going to be in their conference coming up in the future. I mean obviously little overreaction week one maybe two but where are you on texas.

"This is pushing the odds on the sports map. Radio network powered by o'reilly auto parts and rocket mortgage live from las vegas. Here's matt paroles is a fight song for texas here on a fight song friday texas. They could be interesting then looked halfway decent in their last football game. I mean they got a schedule. You gotta watch the big twelve just expanded today. We'll talk more about that later. Texas arkansas as a throwback to the sixties man this is if you're an old old time college football fan texas. Playing at arkansas means a lot. It was a great book that was written about nixon. Go into that football game. Back in the sixties. We'll get more that game later on with pamela maldonado and with our guy least paramount's sports but now on the guest line ben wednesay p. f. f. underscore lindsay from pro football focus joining us here pushing the odds ben map geraldo aria. Doing well. matt how are you. i'm great. let's start with last night. In the way that ezekiel elliott is going to be used this year for the cowboys. They've got three very good wide. Receivers michael gal got hurt late in the game yesterday but we saw cd lamb his ability. And we know wh- amari cooper is capable of doing. But how do you see. What do you see for the role for elliot in the offense going forward in dallas. Yeah i don't think it role is going to be all that different from what we've seen in the past. I think his low usage in that game against tampa bay was largely function. Macha anthony has one of the best run defenses in the nfl dallas one do attack them through the air and they thought that was their best chance to win. And it was working For the most part So elliott's still going to hold onto that that lion share of the running back work with tony pollard. Coming in and spelling him It it was just a case of them not going to run game all that much in this particular context. What surprised you anything from that. Dallas offense last night that was as good as he was at the through as much as they did. Anything shock you about the way. Dallas played in game one. Yeah i think both of those things were a little bit surprising. I thought that would come out with a little bit more. Russ and he did just coming off the ankle injury and the shoulder injury They call us some time off. I thought he looked really sharp and more importantly he looked comfortable in the pocket. He stood in there and delivered. Good balls right before guys came in and hit him I thought he was impressive. And i thought it was. It was interesting that they decided to give up on the run game like they did and just go go for the passing through what he throws he passes in that game So i thought both of those things were a little bit surprising them on offense and the of line. it can't be ghassem pressure. But that's one of the best in front in the league with zack. Martin now i i thought so divine held up relatively well and connor mcgovern held up. Well got breaking news. Head coach frank reich has announced that carson wentz. We'll start on sunday against the seattle. Seahawks what do you think. What is your expectations for carson. Wentz in this offense for indianapolis up against defense that frankly. I don't think he'd be very good this year. Yeah i i. Don't think seattle defense all that good this year. But i don't have super high expectations for winston scheme coming in over from philadelphia to indianapolis. He's missed some time I think there's going to be some growing pains and i think seattle's defensive fry. It's it's sort of a rejection. But i could be better than it was last year. Their defense improved over the second half season. I think jamal adams could be a different type of player this year than we saw last year. I know a lot of people point to his plane coverage and the step back that he took but he got injured early in the year. He transition transitioning new scheme. I think can be better this year. so i think the coach offense. There might be a few things in this game. The jets are going to be without their number one wide receiver and jamison crowder in the debut. Start for zach wilson. Obviously we know. Sam darnold is going to be fired up and passionate about this. How do you feel about the panthers up against the jets. And how big is it. That crowder will be out for new york. I don't think the crowder thing is huge. Obviously they would like to have him there but larger more by accounts has looked tremendous This all season. I think within davis i think cole is is questionable Heading into this game. I think they have enough offensively and for darnold. The big thing is whether that often blind can hold up. I know that the jets lost kara lawson but they still have talent on that defensive line and carolina's thirty cam irving pat l. Fine it left tackle and left guard next to each other. that's not ideal There was a lot of folks offseason in about darnold situation and how it's getting better and carolina and in a lot of ways it is he's going to joe gradient office coordinator He has better weapons over all. But that all through the blind is still one of the worst single league So i think the jets dependent front could give them a little bit of trouble. What do you make of in your projections for christian. Mccaffrey in this offense with darnell at the quarterback spot. I think mccaffrey's going to come back and look like he did I in twenty nineteen early in twenty. Twenty I think darnold going to feed him We saw in that. Preseason game of him feeding the slot I think guys out of the backfield like mccaffrey are going to get a lot of target as well So i would expect this pretty similar usage for him then. The bills are a popular pick. Here too upset. Sorry the steelers to upset the bills in week number one. It's a pretty big line of six and a half. Tj watt gets. A new deal walks into is owners office and says forget my agents. I wanna sign this deal right now. Let's get it done. I wanna play football. What do you make of pittsburgh this year. What do you make it. Najji harris coming in to help the play action pass for ben rothlisberger and his buffalo. Should they be an upset alert coming up in game on. I don't think buffalo's on ups their alert and week one For pittsburgh a lot of it's going to come down to sort of how much influence matt candidate can get on that offense and and how much rothlisberger willing to change We've seen a lot in the past that he doesn't like directly actually likes to sit back and shotgun where he can be A lot less under center stuff. But if they're going to have the best version of their offense next year is going to be more under center more play action more deep shots and lesser. Those really quick passes out a shotgun. five yards downfield that we saw a heavy dose of last year. I think they're all compete to get more varied It's so it'll be interesting to see this game against buffalo. Sorta that give and take between rock between canada and what that looks like so the other big game is browned chiefs and the numbers coming down. Everybody in their mom seems to be taking the cleveland browns. Either cover or win outright but all the numbers are pointing towards kansas city. Given what they've done in september with patrick mahomes andy reid. Is this a trap here. Are we forgetting about the chiefs in fallen in love with the browns or do you think the browns are a team to be reckoned with here in this game against casey. Yeah i think it is easy to forget camp falcon city just because they've been there the past few years they've been that team at the top and cleveland's kind of the newcomer. If you will. I i do think cleveland's roster If you were to wait every position equally you could you could potentially make an argument that they have a better odds and in kansas city. Kansas city just better at the high value positions that quarterback obviously with patrick mahomes at receiving palate With kelsey and he'll be three tight end in there and decent with guys like chris. Jones is moving out the and with tyron matthew. I think they should be the.

"You're asking for tonight you. Oh goodness okay If you prefer if you can do whatever you want man is fine. I definitely like it's not like i wrote up this problem right like i written up this entire weekend. Like i've got to do the podcast up like that. Somebody else can take this game you. Of course they're all about this game which is fine. I get it the entire thing. I i'm going to be the worst radio gets in the world because i'd be lying about like yeah. Man makes it the captain. Who are you leaning towards. So i can tell you terrible. Antonio brown is the collar. Good then we're on the same page. I think that tonio brown sending like there is a place that i want target. Everything like that for the captain. That's totally buying for the captain. Let's go with brown. Make it easy for me. I love it all right to to bring it back onto a gambling perspective. Tony brown is projected at fan at fifty eight and a half receiving yards over under on that all right hold on. Let me pull my project. And sorry i just take my kid up off the bus and that craziness going on right here with the storms get. How much was it. Oh god how much wasn't that. Fifty eight and a half yardage for tony brown. I mean i've got my projections. Okay and again. I've made this clear when i rank. I don't blindly go by my projections. My prediction sorta come out of a system. That i designed and i make but sometimes there guys like brown who i like probably a little bit more than my production for which is fifty six point eight receiving yards on the day so i i have to go under i have to go into but again round is the guy who i expect. Get plenty of looks in this game. I wouldn't be surprised you went over but again this just not one that i would go near personally. You have the numbers here in front of you said cd. Lamb for the cowboys. Sixty one and a half yardage. I would lean on the under of that. Just because of all the hype around cd lamb. But what's your projection for cd lamb. Now i'm over seventy two for me. That's one where. I would go over and again look. It's not the bucks. Have great defense overall their heart. Top against the rush even there against the past but they are going to need to throw right. I mean brady come on. Man brady celebrating super bowl. They're going to have a good time here. They're gonna put up points back is going to need to throw. Cd lamb is about to put up a monstrous an absolutely monster season and i. I'm not sure that he's going to go crazy. Absolutely crazy in this game. But he is the guy. And especially with cooper still kind of recuperating from his little you know whatever ankle injury right there gallup. I like you find as well. I wouldn't mind what's his prop actually gallup over on that too. I just went off of it. Hold on let me okay. I can grab really quickly. I was just. I thought about the bad forty nine or something like that. That's what i'm looking at it earlier. It's yeah it's forty nine and a half for like oh gallup. Yeah i would go over on that too. I i haven't projected for fifty nine. So i think that the the market right now is a little bit undervaluing. What the cowboys are going to do. Offensively because again. I think they're going to be playing from behind. I think is going to have a very difficult time running the ball given just what we know about that bucks run defense. It's going to have to go somewhere right. I mean zone somewhere. And you know. I think gallup ofo gallup can do that in a play right. That's the big thing without no matter where you are in the fourth quarter you get three receiving yards. That's one play for the detroit out. So i like the over on both those receiving proper interesting. I got one question. We didn't hear from the text line at seven zero two seven five one matt. Where do you have cuyler murray this week. What's your projection for. Murray the quarterback of the cardinals. Yeah i mean. I think that the top tier of quarterbacks right now are gonna be fantastic. I've murray my fourth-ranked quarterback got him four. Two hundred sixty eight passing yards two passing touchdowns and forty three rushing yards and again the rushing yards could smash that right. He can go way past that. It's really hard to predict the russian quarterbacks and what they're gonna do. When you look at the difference in fantasy points between lamar jackson josh allen tyler murray just all massive studs this week. I think you're gonna have huge games and have zero concerns at all again. That's going to be a high scoring game. I even like the over at fifty two and a half man. I know it's high. Don't care i think neither defense can stop either offense so i think there's a ton of scoring in that game. Yeah i'm i- kicking myself. Because i i could've gotten fifty one and a half. I took fifty two. I know so. Yeah i'm kicking myself on that. But i think you're not getting that i think you're i think you're still safe. I if as long as below fifty three. I'm fine i'm fine and time for one more. Quick one najji harris start or not this coming weekend definitely start like euro hesitation start like absolutely get him in the light of the bills have an excellent defense but they are much better against the past much much better so i have a little hesitation with all of the feelers wide receivers now at nause. Get him in there. He is a top ten running back without question. No hesitation interesting my friend. This is a lot of fun and now it's been a crazy day for you. I always appreciate your time and your insight. We'll do it again next week. Calloway man look forward to it. That is dan harris at dan harris eighty on twitter to follow him. You're listening to pushing the odds on the sports map radio network howard by o'reilly auto parts and rocket mortgage live from las vegas. Here's matt paroled. Dan harris there from fancy pros every thursday. Damn join us here on pushing the odds. I'm annoyed with myself. Because coastal carolina has jumped up to minus twenty six and a half against kansas. For tomorrow night i just. I think i'm save up to twenty eight but this is the only game all weekend that even considering laying this type of chalk it. Kansas stole bad. And i love grayson mccaw laying twenty six and a half points for a non power five k. u. Is god awful on the road but can they keep it within four bleeping touchdowns i dunno in so i. I might have to pass on this game. I don't want to pass on this game. I don't think the total to me k. You scores like thirteen points so the question is can i get thirty. Plus can i get forty out of coastal. That's my concern. Like we talking about numbers like this. I need forty two ten win for coastal carolina. Like i know coastalss ranked. i know. They're really good. I know they got their quarterback back. I know they got their running back back. I understand all that. I'm just like man really k. Us on the road k. Us really bad. But last year when kansas played coastal the line was ku minus six. Kansas was favored now. Costa was on the road but k. You was favored and now coastal is laying twenty six and a half points. It's going to be a really hard veal. A part of me wants to just hold my nose intake. Kansas and take the twenty six and a half points. Like just let this number climb and take indus. Go against everyone and take kansas. So i i don't know what to do with this game i. It's the only game. Because i'm not touching boise in utah. I don't really like boise state. I bet against them against central florida. They played hard but they lost in las by five. We cover that four and a half point bet even though it closed at six you tap has been kinda salty this year and looked halfway decent against mexico state but that's new mexico state mexico states horrible so like i don't know what to do with that game and going to the blue turf utech on the road. It's not cold yet in boise. But it's still going to be an interesting environment tough environment view tip to walk into. But do i wanna lay. Twenty six points with boise not particularly. Do i trust boise to cover. Twenty six points not particularly so i don't know what to do. I got twenty six and twenty six and a half. I got big games or big numbers. Two games on friday. My gut says. Stay away. But i might need to get involved just a little bit more to come here on thursday..

"Not the worst guy you could put that on. Is it just running backs or could you see a tight end tomorrow night. Like an oj. Howard who is plus to ninety to potentially get a touchdown. Well it's a little different to tampa because of the fact that the three tight end set your and one of the things that i stress the people especially for the first game is don't go overboard. And week one on the touchdown scores or even just in general and we quill and we're so starved for nfl football. That i find that sometimes we ended up. Actually like you know we could convince ourselves into probably fifteen to twenty bucks. You know that we love when we we should really be tried to narrow it down to five ten. So the one thing that i would say with With the tight end. I feel like they kind of all. Cancel each other at. Like grog breaks and howard. I feel like all have the same chance to score. So at that point i would probably just take the guy that has the highest odds at that point because y- they they they all seem to have the same amount of snap counts They all seem to be kind of focused a little bit more in the red zone. Gronk obviously coming off that super bowl And even the postseason run where he was still fairly effective I don't really know how much walking he's gonna have to do tonight against against that her tomorrow against the cowboys defense. But i do think that Gronk would probably be my for my heart. I would probably take gronk at like and plus two twenty five over. Oj howard or mccain. Brace but again. I feel like they're so interchangeable that you may wanna take take a swing on break just because you have a higher chance of getting more profit and because of how much he's been factored into the offense seven to one on. Who do you like tomorrow night. So yeah speaking of titans and this actually goes right back to the same theory actually really like schultz at plus four hundred He's puff four hundred. Mgm right now To score a touchdown against the bucket bucket nears and the reason why i was trying to find what the weaknesses in this bucks defense and really like you know as fine run defense. It's almost like nonexistent. You might as well not even try to take dak prescott or tony pollard. Or ezekiel elliott. But really they were having struggles against tight end plus year. They have the fifth most touchdowns the tight ends last year but the fourth fewest of wide receivers. That's why i'm a little has been on. Maybe looking at a cd. Lamb or or michael gallup. And then when you're looking at the odds then you see that you know blake darwin and don't show basically have the same odds depending on the book. The browns plus four hundred plus four fifty but darwin's coming off that injury last year. The cowboys have already pretty much came out and you see it in hard knocks. You know that they're gonna be rotating these guys throughout the year and throughout the game as well that you might as well take the guy who has some history with daqing looked good when like when charles missed four games to start the year lash or he was basically injured pretty much at halftime in game one but in the four and a half games. He did play with dak last year. He had twenty targets eighteen catches and two touchdowns and that's ban like he looked good and he was actually being utilized. And i think lots of times especially with that passwords coming They're gonna try to get rid of the ball quickly. I think The wide receivers are going to be offended. Fairly well against tampa dalton is probably the one that i would mean to right now at plus one hundred zero. Got about a minute left. do you see any value. You'll have pet dogs any value in the cowboys. At plus eight and a half boyd. You're asking me to kind of maybe do a heart turn here because deep down the better in these says absolutely not i think get beat by fifteen points But the cowboys fan and the things that we can keep it within ten. Maybe even you know. I think we can keep it within a touchdown. I'm not gonna just outright say that. We can't win the game or that we can't cover the spread. But i think for myself the betting my betting heart will take me to take the buccaneers. I might even consider an alternate spread at minus nine and a half just to get a little plus money value. But i think that's where it's gonna go. I think it's going to be a just a landslide kind of win for the buccaneers kind of celebrating their super bowl win. I'm with you. I don't think it's going to be a close football game. And i all these cowboy backers. I just. I'm not fully understanding what they're seeing that they're going to come in here without zack martin on the road. Banner season twenty. Two starters back for the boxing when the game even keeping the game close. I don't fully understand it zillow. Great stuff buddy. Thank to the time. We'll do it again soon. Shut up plus five hundred and vladi. Junior home runs against the yankees today. I'm on the under ten runs for the yankees because the yankees can't score and it's wild to watch both teams chasing the raids right now. Red sox and the yankees are reeling. The yankees have lost eight of ten after being red hot. It has totally flipped for them. They've lost four games in a row and the blue jays are just steaming right up. The wildcard standings there now. Two games. Back of the red sox. They're tied with the loss column. Four back in the win column. So that's significant. If they played four fewer games than the red sox have red. Sox are decimated by vid and they may start to get a couple of guys back later this week but right now things are really really bad and the blue jays are red hot. They've won six games in a row. They've won nine of ten. And if you are watching this blue jays team right now you know. What's what's powering this. They're getting great starting pitching. You've heard that you heard that from jill. I mean they're they're starting rotation right. Now is red hot robby. Ray's been phenomenal reu- even though he's gone to the disabled list review is really been good. Jose barrios picked up deadlines been good alec. Alec minoa has been the young power arm. He's been a little bit up and down. But stephen match was really good yesterday. The yankees wrote their lineup. Just doesn't score and in this three games set the yankees and the first two games scored non in one runs. So i'm just coming down the under. Because i think the blue jays will get there get potentially but and maybe the yankees liable. Wake up but under ten again. I was on the under yesterday under eight and a half. I'm on the undertand again. I'm just going to ride this. 'cause jay's don't score excuse me the yankees don't score jay's do score but the yankees don't so on her ten yankees blue jays today at minus one ten you can fade or follow baseball play perspective. "Just right. They're going to be so confused up to this point cheering for brady. Hasn't been cheering against the patriot. Kind of do both if there was a divorce here. You're you're not having both in the same room and now you do. You can pull one at the same time so it'll be fun again. Brady's kind of set already you know it'll be emotional. Obviously it's the city and the team franchise that don't mean a lot to him but now he's in that you know awkward position of wanting to beat them and beat them thoroughly. He'll be i mean. This is as far as a regular season game. I think this is one of the ones. He wants more than more than any other his career is. You know. I mean. He's he's the most competitive person i've i've encountered and covered it. So and that's it anything let alone Ah game at pay back. Game and and and whatever You know all the silliness in terms of who should be credited for all their success I think he'll want to win. I think that's all i can say is that it starts there. Look i i hope that we. I'm glad you say the silliness. Because i feel the same way that the whole who's to who gets credit bradier bella check. Why can't they both get credit. They both be. It's a fifty five forty five or something like that the idea that it's only one and the other benefited. It's probably a little shortsighted. So the running game coming up against dallas. I'm really curious. Because i don't like this cowboys defense. All that much i mean. How much are you expecting this running game to get better and better. The passing attack was great. Because brady but i felt the running attack could even get more significant for the bucks this coming season. What are your expectations for that. Running back room. Yeah i mean it can be much better. They were a bottom ten. Runs last year In yards and yards per carry You know. I think they really liked what they've done in adding giovanni bernard here and he'll be kind of their third down back there at their pass catching pass protection back. And then you can really see a probably at least early on a pretty even split between ronald jones and leonard fournette. They had runs where they were the dominant part of a job. Share and both had success doing that. But i i think early on. I think the the outlooks probably gonna be a lot of ways most of last season. They're both healthy where you give them both theories you give them both shots in the first half and then you kinda ride the hockey end in the second season gregg. If jack morton doesn't play and the cowboys are being coy about it that they may fly him in tomorrow night in the morning or tomorrow morning. I'm play tomorrow night. I don't think that's going to happen. But let's say he's out. How significant is the offensive line. Sorry the defensive line for the bucks off line for the cowboys. Meaning jason pierre. Paul in and company. How much of an advantage could they have in disrupting that cowboys offense. I think a huge difference maker. I mean that cowboys line isn't the dominant force. It was five years ago by any means. But he's the best part of it and to be replacing him you know. I think they'll have to starters. Making their ninth and fifth career starts. So it's a big drop off in terms of experience The bucks take a lot of pride in being the number one defense in the nfl against to run the last two years and if they can take away or at least limit ezekiel elliott early. On that's a big help. I mean dak prescott to actually been very good against the box. His he's two games against tampa this sixteen and eighteen. He played them or two of the top four games in his career for completion percents. He's literally eighty percent or better in both games but not a ton of downfield passing more just a lot of moving. The chains completing passes Think he was twenty five game but only for like one sixty six so you know what this defense wants to do is get to him and and make turn and i think it's so much easier if if they're in predictable downs if they're not able to run the ball consistently and that's where losing zack. Martin probably helps them the most the biggest question for the game what the cowboys wide receivers will do against that secondary for the bucks. I think so. I mean to me you know i mean i think if i mean a lot of people think the bucks have the best one to three in the league if they don't i think dallas is probably right there mean see lamb had some really good numbers early when he had to act thrones them last year This secondary as good as they were in the post-season last year is still young. And still kinda inconsistent. Let me think about what tyreek hill was able to them They had a lot of games last year. Where number one receivers looked like number one receivers whether it'd be to adams whether it be You know other guys here in the division they faced so this is a serious thing. I mean this is a a defense that gave up affirmative passing yards for a big chunk of last year. So i if dacic back like the old deck. It make things interesting. Greg will the bucks win tomorrow night. I think so. I think they win. Comfortably actually I i think there's act martin. Probably help that. But i think it could build score points I think it's probably in like thirty. Five twenty four type. Game if i had to guess right. Now i'm with you greg. Good stuff man. Enjoy the game tomorrow. Night should be a ton of your time today. Hey think again picture. That is greg allman. He is covering the bucks for the athletic. He has also written. A book called champa bay. You guys can read it the nears box now. Mine's eight and a half at home against the cowboys more on it next year. I'm pushing the odds. This is pushing the odds on the sports map. I don't care you get everyone to carry this thing live and you make sure that everyone knows that derek jeter is going into the baseball hall of fame. There are very few players in my mind that i have watched in my career in my life that the hall of fame was built for players like derek. Jeter that's why. They created the museum to baseball in the museum to sports. Because when you have the alzheimer's the guys who separate themselves from anyone and everyone the unique incredible stories of accomplishment leadership everything they have done for the game everything they've done for their communities. Those are the guys that deserve to be. Honored recognized remembered. I again. I've said this before. We shouldn't have hall of fame voting. We we should just shouldn't be vote for hall of fame. "It was a joke. That's it we have to be able to have fun. This is the toy department. We live in the toy department. That's where we all are with it. Be in sports gambling. Sports betting sports media. We don't deal with real issues for the most part. I am one hundred percent. I don't get it twisted. I'm not saying that sports can't use their platform for change in for good and whatnot. I'm not saying that. But what i am saying is can we have fun kid. We just laugh. Can we have his team. I'm sure got a kick out of it. His team was like oh man coach. Really mad do you think that's the worst thing that we've ever heard. Somebody say coach over the career of the nordine players over their career of playing from pop warner all the way to notre dame football. Do you think that's the worst thing i've ever heard from coach saying you didn't execute so maybe the whole team needs to be executed. I'm gonna say no that that wasn't even in the top ten of things. They have heard from a coach at practice at in high school anywhere when it comes from their dad mom their brother come on. We have to just stop. This and there was no need to apologize. It was a bad joke. He didn't say it right. Maybe he was better at telling jokes. Maybe it would have landed better. It landed awkwardly. But i couldn't believe like the number of people like in one of my really good friend was obama fan and i was like you. Just don't like him because he's dave couch. You're a battlefield like you. You're you're naturally predisposed to do this. And i get it nick. Sabin is and if you are on social media you've seen i don't know why lately but there's just been like an overwhelming number of clips. I think it's because of the the pre season speech that was put out there. A couple of speeches people came in and talk to the team to alabama and how viral that went. So i feel like there's more viral nick. Sabin quote out there right now in social media he had some really good ones. he's got some great quotes about behaving yourself and watched one last night where he talked about in scouting when it comes to the draft. There's two words there's and there's bought and when someone's listening everything you've gone and he is a great students and he's he graduated and he is a leader in the locker room or but he got arrested at a party. He got into a fight his sophomore year. He got a dui as a junior. Which one is it going to be all your talent all your skill and or but and you want the and you don't want the in. It's brilliant. i mean it's one hundred percent. I was like that's exactly in life. You want that right in life. You don't want. I like him a lot. But you're going for a job. Great resume great class great leadership but he did this or and he does this and this or she does this and this right. It's the same thing for job interviews. Same thing applies to life and in but when someone's talking about you and your career and your legacy you want more and then butts and so i don't know why that's out there as much as delta right now but that's no everywhere with nick sabin. So saving isn't one to make jokes saving barks at reporters like crazy now. It's not players. So i just hot. Not the whole thing was just completely stupid. Like what are we doing. Come on non story non non topic. One quick thing and win bet is getting a whole lot of love for one gambler. Who put a fourteen team teaser. Sorry fourteen parlay out there over the weekend if you guys saw this or not. But this gambler put ten dollars down at a plus eight hundred thousand dollar bet essentially seventy nine thousand seven hundred ninety nine thousand three hundred and fifty seven odds plus ten bucks to win seventy nine thousand to eighty thousand dollars. Ten bucks to an eighty thousand dollars on all of them under yukon fresno under boise state. Ucf under south. Florida nc state under east carolina appalachian state under north carolina votech under duke in charlotte under old dominion weak force under ken. State into an under fresno state and oregon onder western michigan. Let's to fresno state games. How 'bout that that's interesting so to fresno week one zero and week one for fresno with the under western michigan at michigan central michigan at missouri oregon state at purdue utah state at washington. State all thirteen. Those hit so heading. Into louisville ole miss seventy five and a half the number ticked. Almost i think one or two books did get the seventy six but the number came down. It was seventy four and a half i close. That was my five ten dollars last night. Must have been an insane sweat now given that you had hit thirteen of the fourteen legs. I pray this better decided to hedge off of this because eighty thousand. Just come in just bet a thousand dollars on the over. Just come in. And take louisville ole mess. Better thousand dollars on it. Just at seventy five and a half and just that you wind up going you win a grant. At least you'd win a grand. If you lose this ten bucks bet. And i hope this gamla did it. Because then it seventy eight thousand dollars seventy nine thousand dollars you was eighty grand. You win seventy nine thousand dollars. That's how i would have had to this. I don't know if that better actually did hedge. I don't know if he was offered a cash out. Sometimes we'll do that if they're sitting on a ticket that's ten dollars and they're going to get hit for an eighty thousand dollar wack though offer. They'll come in and say hey we'll give you forty grand right now or we'll give you fifty grand right now before the game kicks off trying to get out of it. This gambler supposedly said no. We're not going to do it. Wynn bet let it ride. And the under came in for louisville and wholeness fourteen team fourteen leg parlay plus eighty thousand odds caches plus eight hundred thousand dollars caches for eighty thousand dollars on a ten dollar bank. Do not do this by the way or at least do it consistently me once in a while. dave sheridan. we'll talk to him about the reaction to the risk room when this ticket caches today next year. Fortunately listening to pushing the odds on the sports map radio network powered by o'reilly auto parts and rocket mortgage live from las vegas. Here's matt parole. So what is it. Like to be in the risk rome when somebody's sitting on a fourteen leg ten dollar parlay that will catch eighty thousand dollars as a risk manager. Oh let's get to our guy share a sports drink on twitter on the guts line. Where are you my friend. What's up. I am on the patient at the south point. Now tell correct. I i just actually just did i. Chris i gotta go. I gotta talk to parole so Yeah we were visiting hanging out. I'm sitting with jeff austin Right now at least sports at restaurants. We're just doing the thing. It's it's fun because a lot of people coming to found the football season so.

"I think that people are going to overreact here and byu could definitely cover the seven. Yeah they lost a bunch of starters on defense but this is still a tough team and this is still a team. That hates utah. And how often is this game decided by more than you know. Seven eight nine point. I agree and looked at the iowa. State game i look. I know indiana had a lot of hype coming in but mike pence junior played really poorly in iowa. Went ahead and ran away with it was a route at home. I just think. I watched the majority of that. You and i were state game. And i covered that game numerous times. I know what that is in the state especially for northern iowa. And i also know that campbell has a rough record in september anyway in particular against the spread. He's a really rough record in september. I just felt like iowa state was looking at iowa the entire time and they didn't put anything in and they didn't wanna show isla anything. I think i'm gonna see totally different iowa state team on saturday. Do you agree. I do agree. People aren't going to look at the northern iowa cy but this is a competent missouri valley football conference game and so and you look at some of their past ultimate last year. They lost that first. Game the louisiana then a year before they beat northern iowa in three overtimes and then the year before that they had the first game cancelled. And you know barely lost the iowa. So like i was just a really slow starting team but i think that they're going to have the focus now for iowa and i think look i'll let it Keep falling You know unfortunately. It's three and a half and i have to buy that half a point. I'll do that. But i'll just let the public do it for me. And hopefully that line keeps jump a drop dropping a little bit. Have you seen a number for clemson and south carolina state yet. Do you know what that is. Is that a team. I mean when a number pops there you mentioned. fcs versus f given how poorly clemson played. Doesn't it feel like clemson wins a game like sixty nothing on saturday. Well i mean. I would say if you play something like that. You'd probably look at the first half. I don't want to necessarily have the clinton third stringers have to decide this game for me You know some of these teams look if you look at some of their sds history because some of these teams you know. They play with their food. A little bit you look last year clinton one forty nine nothing You look in two thousand nineteen. They didn't play. They played wofford. Beat fifty nine fourteen so like that. Oh i think it's the type of guy who wants to run it up. But i also think he realizes that his starters have to stay healthy. So if you're going to play something like that i would look more towards like a first half. I don't think any books offer like i quarterback for fcs fbi games. But i would try and condense the amount of time because classes gonna win. They're gonna name their score but they'll definitely name their school in the first half same thing with alabama and mercer for staff line roll it roll. Tide like normal. Yeah i mean alabama's one of those teams that could beat all the fcc squad by a million You look so like the last time they play with two thousand nine hundred and they beat western carolina sixty six to three. They beat the citadel. Fifty seventeen mercer fifty six nothing so like nickel do it but once again i would say first half or something like that has been an atm machine in the first half just to hit again. It gets miami. It's just whatever the number is late and chances are they're gonna wind up. They're gonna wind up covering any thoughts on texas and arkansas. This is a throwback game. You know there's all sorts of history with nixon showing up in the sixties and whatnot to this matchup. Texas look pretty. Good a week number one but i feel in texas in arkansas. I don't necessarily not right now because you look at arkansas. Yeah they played really well against rice. I mean you know. Rights isn't very good and they did whatever they wanted to And you wonder how much they showed knack game and then you look at texas texas beat a good louisiana team but i think you know louisiana was a little bit overrated running backs wide receivers not there so like louisiana was good last year this is the classic case of the rankings in the top twenty five didn't really make any sense louisiana's not a top twenty five team And i mean it's a road game as you said there's a little bit of a rivalry there and there's no look ahead for texas. It'll be an interesting game I don't really have a feel for it now. But there's pretty solid six and a half across the board. It feels like in this one interesting austin. Peay and ole miss we saw ole miss that offense will have lane kiffin back for this game coming up here. I love amiss. I bet matt corral to win the heisman last night to twelve to one fourteen to one different books. How do you feel about all mrs offense. And what do you make any thoughts on the austin p. matchup. Well i mean main kevin's the type. I feel like that would just keep scoring and keep scoring and keep throwing. So i mean i you know once again. This is a case of. I mean short week so that's not exactly great when you look at something like that so i wouldn't necessarily look at the first half in this game but i mean once again and lane kiffin guy who's just gonna keep scoring and so it's really. It's a tough one because also p is actually somewhat decent but once again the short week. Just throw a wrench into this whole thing. I think they're going to put up a monster number. I think matt corral. Winning the heisman is a big deal for lane kiffin that he wants to lead the nation and touchdown tosses and lead the nation in yards after last night he. He's on his way to do it after after one game. Not good good stuff man appreciate you coming on with do it against sounds good thank you that is at mid major matt to follow him here on the progressive guests. Line breaking down games with him on pushing the odds. We have a lot more to come here on a busy tuesday. This is pushing the odds on the sports map. Radio network powered by o'reilly auto parts and rocket mortgage live from las vegas. Here's matt paroles. It's funny because it feels like we're supposed to be getting into the fall right. I mean football's here for goodness sakes. Let's go with fall. It's one hundred five in vegas today. Hundred even five like we are dealing with some serious heat right now in nevada in vegas. It's very strange and a lot of us here are looking forward to getting some cooler temperatures. But that's why they built the dome here for the raiders. Because i don't think these guys want to be playing football and one hundred temperatures and it's going to be a nice and cool seventy two degrees inside of allegiant for the game on monday night. I cannot wait to see what the environment around the game is going to be like. I've seen mean remember. This is all in same with so-fi saving los angeles for the rams and the chargers. We didn't have any of this. We had two billion dollar stadiums open last year and nobody could go so now. They've had a year to prepare a year to kind of execute. What the games are gonna look like. They had kind of a trial run for an entire year. And now here we go with a full season and fans in the stands and look preseason one thing but a monday night game in vegas wall. Kick off the stadium with the ravens coming in. I know harbaugh and company are going to be really tough. And i know the game's going to be just electric to be inside of it. I like points a lot in that game. I've already over fifty and a half in that game. I decided not to bet totals in week one of college football for a variety of reasons but one of the bigger reasons in college football was just because i felt like it was hard to get a real grasp solid read as to what the teams are gonna look like without any preseason football and so i stayed away and i went thirteen three and once i bet one total on it. Got it wrong. So i i stayed away but in the nfl. The rules are different. The players different environments are going to be different. I'm comfortable going with an over fifty and a half for that game. I think the raiders score is really score. I may be in on the ravens as well. But i mean look to tease that game as well. There may be an in game teaser. Opportunity for both but total outright fifty and a half or the numbers climbing lot. More to come on a tuesday pushing the opposite..

We're talking about a story here out of university of virginia's medical school where the assistant dean was on a panel where they were talking about microaggressions. 'cause very important. We talked to the doctors of the world about microaggressions and one of the students. His name is buck to chara which sounds like he might be a member of. Maybe a ethic minority just be guessing here and He got into it with the The dean the assistant dean gal and then nora current and assistant professor. Who helped organize the event. Thought that but char's questions were just do pointed and immediately following the panel. She filled out a professional concern card. A kind of a record of students violations of university policy. The student asked a series of questions. Quite antagonistic towards the panel wrote kern. He pressed on stated. One faculty member was being contradictory. His level of frustration anger seemed to escalate until another faculty. Member defused the situation by calling on another student for questions. I'm shocked a medical student which shows such little respect towards faculty members. It worries me how he will do on wards which i presume has to do with a checking on patients and stuff. According to a by the way i've met lots of doctors that are holes. You know so. According to almost in certain branches of medicine it's it's almost a requirement. I have a few close friends who are doctors and nurses and in the medical profession and who would not say things like that perhaps not will the things. Their humans turns out. We should treat them as individuals according to butter charles lawsuit. The concern card generated interest from an assistant dean in the medical school who emailed him and offered to meet the assistant. Dean assured him that. I simply want to help you understand and be able to cope with unintended consequences of conversations but a terrorist bonded with that contra contrary to anyone's assertions he had not lost his temper or become frustrated with panel. You're observed discomfort of me from wherever you sat was not at all how i felt. I was quite happy that the panel gave me so much time to engage with them about the semantics regarding the comparison of micro aggression and barbs. I have no problems with anyone on the panel. I simply wanted to give them some basic challenges regarding the topic. I understand that. There is a wide range of acceptable interpretations. On this and i would be happy to meet with you at your convenience to discuss this further. Sounds like somebody is prepared to talk about microaggressions. Then dean of students affairs asked to meet as well. Meanwhile the academic standards achievement committee met to discuss the a concern card. This committee the they write a little card. And then everyone's gotta meet at the what. This committee voted to sin chara reminder to show mutual respect to faculty members and express yourself appropriately. The committee also suggested that he get counseling in november twenty six. This suggestion beginning this is to twenty eighteen. By the way it's been a long time. This suggestion became a mandate. The student was informed that he must be evaluated by psychological services before returning to classes. Well i think you know how i feel about that. Mandates char- repeatedly asked university officials to clarify. What exactly he was accused of. And under whose authority his counseling has been mandated and why his enrollment status was suddenly in doubt. According to the lawsuit. These queries only appear to have made. Uva officials more determined to punish him but a is mounting frustration with these baseless accusations of unspecified wrongdoing was essentially treated as evidence that he was guilty at his hearing. He was accused of being extremely defensive in order to change his aggressive and threatening behaviour aggressive and threatening so this is one of the ways that the language gets you used and abused terms like aggressive aggressive kind of means. You're coming at somebody in a way that you're going to hurt him threatening means you would think you're threatening them you would think. Yeah but whatever they want to people who use this china terminology. He was ultimately suspended for aggressive and inappropriate interactions in multiple situations on december thirty. Uv a police ordered him to leave campus. Uva's administration engaged in behavior that can be described as gas lighting administrators sorted. That but a chara had behaved aggressively when he hadn't then cited his increasing confusion frustration and hostility towards the disciplinary process as evidence that he was aggressive. And all this is because chara asked an entirely fair question about microaggressions. A fraud subject his. And that's the thing is. Is that when you don't wanna have a conversation about the topic at hand you start attacking the person we call that. An ad hominem attack. Can we just agree that. It's okay to say no thank you. Well that's probably the way to do it. I mean if you reasonable right unreasonable. That he could just say no thanks. I don't wanna don't wanna go get counseled right now. His lawsuit contends. That the thank you. You don't have authority over me. No thank you. The lawsuit contends that uva violet his first amendment rights by retaliating against him for speaking his mind uva filed a motion to dismiss the case but a district court judge ruled that the case should proceed sufficiently alleges that the defendants retaliated against him. Wrote the court indeed. They issued a professional concern card against him suspended him from. Uva medical school required to undergo counseling and obtain medical clearance approved vendor stand. What a medical professional concern card is well. This is the what does that mean. In university we live in. They live in a different world and in that world he has spit upon one of the new shiny. Apple's new apple is check. You know these these microaggressions and he has said no. I'm not sure that microaggressions even exist. Make good case. And they couldn't so they wrote a card that said he has said bad things that we don't like and then the card does what the car does one of these liberal things what. What is the car like. i don't understand. It's an accusation. Okay it's a disciplinary action. All right i understand. That's an accusation. Yeah so Prevented him from appealing his suspension. Or applying for readmission it is vital that uva lose this case and lose badly students may have the right to question me administrators about poorly formed concepts from social psychology without fearing that. They'll be branded as threats to public order. That's the difference between public university. And silom and i mean frankly in an asylum. Fine line the they wouldn't have that.

They're actually allowing people to start their own businesses in most fields of work. Now the be able to seek employment in over two thousand different fields that used to be one hundred and twenty seven different fields that were approved by the government but in others two thousand and now that's changing and that's a good thing because ultimately they finally i think are acknowledging that communism at least has not worked and have to try something different and so this is good news and it was also nice to see at least at the end of the obama administration when baraka one of the few things barack obama got right was. He deregulated the travel to cuba. So actually are co host. Mark edge has gone to cuba nice young. I think it was like two years ago. He went there and said the women are very beautiful and had a lot of other nice things to say about the island there but the people are incredibly poor. Because they're still trying to pick themselves up out of this mire of communism. Well this is so exciting for them. I hope that cuba starts like be more wealthy now. I hope so too now. There's more to the story here. So continued gradually and with regular backtracking. The cuban government allowed cubans to stop working low-paid state jobs and go into business for themselves by the government's own statistics. More than six hundred thousand cubans now work in the private sector. Although the number is likely far higher when you account for the island's thriving black market still cuban because remember in a communist nation. The black market is what keeps you alive. Yes because if you are relying on the government and bread lines to your you know. Keep your sustenance coming. That's probably not going to do it. So you've gotta turn to the black market and that's what we've seen in places like venezuela where people will sell dollars to you on the black market for the terrible venezuelan bulevar and there's a black market dollar rate for the boulevard which is completely different than what the official bulevar rate is. So i imagine there are similar. Things like that in cuba. It's just you know you don't hear a whole lot about what goes on in cuba for whatever reason now they do have internet though. So that's good Still cuban government officials have treated the island's entrepreneurs as a necessary evil and a possible trojan. Horse that could allow opponents in the united states to at long last bring down the revolution and while the official line from cuban officials is that they've been implementing free market reforms quote without hurry but without stopping unquote the opening had stalled out as the government seem to doubt the wisdom of further empowering cuban entrepreneurs oh god forbid but with the widespread impacts of the pandemic and as row castro. Who's now eighty nine is expected to step down in april as the head of the cuban communist party the organization that charts the island's long-term economic planning cuba in twenty twenty. One has finally embarked on two major reforms unifying its labyrinth dual currency system and now lifting restrictions on jobs the government will still prohibit or restrict cubans from privately undertaking one hundred and twenty four activities while those activities have yet to be disclosed. They will likely continue the state's monopoly on healthcare telecommunications and mass media so much really by no means are we talking about a free market situation here but it is free yes. It is a lessening of restrictions and that deserves some appreciation. It deserves plus so kudos to them for that The new measure over time will likely alter the face of the island's economy said cuban economist. Ricardo torres he said quote. We don't know what One hundred and twenty four activities will remain prohibited but it safe to assume that the possibilities will be expanded for professionals an old demand in a country that has made an enormous investment in education unquote. The changes come to cuba six improve relations with the us and according to the story here after four years of barrage of new economic sanctions from the trump administration quote. This is long overdue. It's welcome news. In the united states should affirm that the embargo was never intended and will not be used to penalise private enterprise in cuba. This was according to senator. Patrick layhee from vermont and he continued saying after more than half a century. Isn't it time to repeal a cold war embargo that has failed to achieve any of its objectives and is only made life harder for the struggling cuban people and if that's one thing that can come out of the biden administration i support it sure People in countries like cuba and venezuela should not have their lives made more difficult by the united states government. Their enemy is the government of their country and by the us government saying. Oh we're gonna stop you from doing business with people in the united states all of you cubans all of you. Venezuelans well. then you're making the united states their enemy when it didn't have to be the united states the people of the us could have been their business trading partners this whole time. We could have been helping the cuban people to whatever extent it was able for them to. You know to participate right in the economy. We could have helped them. In creating businesses we could have helped them in importing products exporting products from their island to make the world a better place but because You know politicians decided cuba bad. The cuban people have been suffering extra because of what people like donald trump and his predecessor. The politicians aren't going to suffer as a result of this. And i love what ron paul had to say about embargoes because so many politicians view them some sort of more peaceful art alternative to war. But they're not they're a prelude to war sure they're almost never a and i'm sure they people i'm sure many cubans have died as a result of the united states embargo on cuba and is the only country that still like embargoing them. It wouldn't surprise me. But i don't know i mean i don't know where you go to get that list i don't either but i can't imagine as many beyond the idiotic stubborn american night this united states government doing. Yeah i mean who do they think it it hurts. Why would anyone think that telling a people of a country that they can't trade with you in some way is going to dethrone. Their government is somehow going to destabilize their government. Well lots of trump people think that everything needs to be made in manufacturing everything in the united states. And that's how we create wealth and that's how we make america great again but in reality we need stuff from all over the world.

That gives us the all clear everything is good to go. I don't know if I've reached the point where I'm doomed, scrolling. We have not gotten that tweet. From Adam Schefter today, and we are about three hours away from kickoff. Now we also haven't got anything that would suggest the game not being played. So maybe I'm looking way too deep into things. This'll his balance of power with David Western on Bloomberg Radio. Still to come this hour, we talked to a campaign finance expert about what President Trump can and cannot do with political donations in the future. But first social media giants Twitter and Facebook band President Donald Trump from their services, raising a host of questions about their rules of participation and whether there should be regulation of them. I spoke about it with Matt Paroles, director of Duke University Center on Science and Technology policy. Previously, Mr Peralta was the director of public policy at Facebook. I asked if the company's made the right call. They certainly acted within their legal rights. They're protected by the First Amendment. They're able to make the decisions they want about what content to carry on their platform, including making the decision to kick off the president if they'd like to do that. Just separate question about whether that's the right thing to do, and I do have concerns about it. As much as I disagree with the president's speech, and I disagree vehemently with it. He got 47% of the vote in the last election. 74 million people voted for him. There are their significant political support for the ideas that he espouses as horrific as I might think they are. And I think that speech that people deserve to hear the question that I had, as they made their decision was why what is the rule that was violated? Specifically? What did President Trump do specifically by what rule? And are we comfortable with that rule? So the rule that I think platforms used to determine whether they will remove speech or not, is whether it creates real world harm. And so I'm not privy to the internal conversations that the companies but my guess is that the company's decided that the president was engaged in speech that created real world harm and that he didn't just do that once but did that repeatedly and that because of his repeated tendency to create real world harm with his speech, he no longer deserved a Knopper tune. It is to become the platforms, but a question I've been asking people and I find it difficult is did the use of social media platforms cause real world harm and career square? That's a very good question. I mean, people use social media platforms for a lot of different purposes. They use it for things that are good. They use it for things that are problematic. Typically the First Amendment law in the United States the jurisprudence that we've had for hundreds of years is focused on punishing conduct, not on punishing speech think the perpetrators of the riots the insurrection of the capital should be prosecuted Those who violated the law. But that we shouldn't try to avoid censoring political speech particular speech that's widely held that speech for views that's widely held by so many people. Does there come a point where Let's take Facebook, which is the larger? Let's be clear of the two Facebook because so ubiquitous I mean global, billions of users where it's not really perfectly accurate to call it merely a private company anymore. I think it is a private company. I think people do have choices about the platforms they might be able to use. You saw many people flocking from Twitter and Facebook to parlor, for instance. And so people do have alternatives. I think competition between different social media networks. Different speech platform is a positive thing, and it would be good if there were if there was more of that kind of competition. What's the role of the government and all this? And we heard a lot about Section 2 30 Communications Act. Which basically exempts platforms like Facebook or Twitter, from being treated as a publisher. Therefore, they can't be sued for libel The way New York Times could be. What is the proper role for the government? Is it through section 2 30? Is there some other regulation or no regulation at all That's appropriate, So I think they're two different things. One is that it would be helpful if our representatives weren't engaged in the kind of speech that they were engaged in that lead to the kind of Violence and riots that we saw last week. I believe that that is speech that should be permitted. But I would hope that voters would decide that representative who espouse those views are probably not fit for office. In terms of regulating the speech of tech companies section 2 30 isn't really important component of online expression of views that are widely held as well as more fringe views both from before, right and on the far left, and I think as much as we can protect you Platforms as forms for expression is a positive thing. There are reforms of section 2 30 that I think would be helpful. One example is that the federal government could pass more aggressive Federal criminal law could essentially modernize federal criminal law for the digital age and section 2 30 does not provide immunity to tech platforms for violations of federal criminal law. So, for instance, if the Congress were to pass a law that prohibited certain kinds of voter suppression on social media platforms, or if the federal government work to prohibit certain types of speech that could actually incite riots that then then tech platforms would not be able to plead section 2 30 as a defense to lawsuits that were initiated under that new federal criminal law. But does that mean that actually Facebook theoretically if there was this federal criminal statute? And there was voter suppression attempted Facebook would be liable criminally potentially, it could be if it violated the terms of the statute and so statues that deal with speech obviously need to survive First Amendment scrutiny. So the statute that I'm talking about what obviously have to be very narrow. It would have to be very specific about the kind of speech and the kind of conduct of prohibited But it is the case that if federal criminal law were modernized for the digital age, and that we actually had rules set out by Congress that outlined criminal conduct related to voter suppression or voter fraud, or online incitement to riot..

Still to come This hour, We talked to a campaign finance expert about what President Trump can and can't do with political donations in the future. But first, the people and organizations separating themselves from President Trump after a mob stormed the U. S Capitol is growing everyone from former political allies to the banks he does business with, but maybe the one that would hit Mr Trump. The hardest was the PJs decision to pull its championship in 2022 from the Trump Bedminster National Golf Club to take us through what this really means. I talked to renown. Sports writer Rick Reilly, who wrote for Sports Illustrated for 22 Years and is the author of Commander in Cheats. How Golf, Explains Trump. I asked Rick to give us a sense of what Gulf tells us about the character of Donald J. Trump. Well, having played with a guy to take seven Mulligan's on and and, uh, you know, somehow shot 78. When you got him down for 85. Then you're giving him 10 bucks. And you're kind of like I've always said golf Golf is like bicycle shorts and reveals a lot about a man and you're gonna cheat your friends and your family to win. Then you cheated most anything. And that might be an election. Cheat on your wife. You might cheat on your taxes. So it was fine, crazy sort of. You know your crazy uncle who tells you he slept with Marilyn Monroe. All those lives were great when he wasn't running the country. When when this guy started running the country and telling people you won Eighties 1 18 Club Championships against the best players in the club, and he'd already told me That he would do it by playing when you're opening a new golf course and playing by himself. I'm calling that the club championship like Wait a minute. You can't call yourself a winner. When you're When you're cheating, so I started looking into it and finding out he won tournaments. He didn't even you didn't play in. One time he won one in Philly in the tournament was in New Jersey. Hold on a second. This guy You know, Forget politics. I don't much care about politics. What I care about his golf and you don't go to get to go around saying your champion and you're a 32.8 handicap when you can barely cover a 10. If that guy's at 2.8, the Queen is a pole vaulter. Give me a break. Give me a break on this guy saying he's a great golfer. Guys I played with them. About a 10 or 12. These fines I was It was good seeing how good a gofer is. He really I must say. I only spent time with the man once long before he was president, and we didn't know each other very well. But for some reason, this conversation he had to tell me that he could take golf ball. Put it on the cart path on page car path. And hit a nine iron off of it perfectly. I mean, I thought, Well, I don't know what you're telling me that but how good a golfer is He really What Ask him about. I talked to the caddy master at Bedminster, who puts me and he put his name on this story, he said. We just have to buy 5000 counts. Orange green teas. Thanks. So that's not illegal, he said. No, he gives them to the caddies, and they keep him up in the rough, no, really own. It doesn't don't see it up to you to. So that's what you're dealing with. How good is he? He's like a 10 or 12. I mean deep, Dustin Johnson says. It's about a 10, Anika says. He's about 11. So that's fine. That's pretty good for a 70. Whatever it is. He tells people he's a three and he has to win no matter what. And if someone like I've only known a few people that beat him because he always played it his course with his caddie's and he lies and take small against and picks up everything inside the Winnebago for a pot. What guy who beat him with this friend of mine, Sam Farmer who covers the NFL, he said. I took 10 bucks off him. I thought the $10 was gonna split in half. He wouldn't let go of it, And that's kind of a good metaphor for the election. He knows he lost. Everybody knows he lost. You won't let over his brain can't cross as losing. And so that's why losing the PGA is so tough for him because he tells people I have the best courses in the world. None of his American courses are in the top 1 50, so he tries to prove they're the best by getting a major. No, my information. You know, he paid a $5 million fee to get this PGA at Bedminster. He was all set to host the world. That's what he wants to do. You want the Lord over the world looking me? I got a major toe lose that major is like a starving man who comes upon it all. You can eat buffet and finds out it's closed. I mean, He really, really wanted. This major golf means more to him than almost anything more than any party changed parties. Five times He's had three wives, but he's always been loyal and devoted to Gaul. He wants to prove that his course is the best and he's a good player. That's why he bought Turnberry what we're talking about turn, but I was gonna raise term because and he lost the PGA. You just explain why that's so bad. But now I understand. They've said You're never gonna get the British over to Turnberry. So is this a matter of ego or really affect his bottom line, making money off these courses? No, it's ego. He's always wanted to have a major. I don't know if you remember he had a pretty big tournament on the LPGA on the course. That's next tomorrow, Lago, and he would Was the course in the morning with his airplane, and then he would show up in a supercharged car to goes faster than anybody else card so he can get ahead and cheap, Thanks to sports writer Rick Reilly coming up social media giants Twitter and Facebook band President Donald Trump from their platforms. I'll talk about it with Facebook's former director of public policy, Matt Paroled..
