"Is that Does that just exclude me? No. You're expelled. Thanks, Belle. How about, Hmm? How about a team like the Chiefs? 12? Okay, Cool. I'm still alive. You're missing one team that has 13 winning seat winning seasons since 2003. And 11 and 2 10. Um, I mean the only because of playoff failures. I would say, I think the Chargers are still up there because of Philip Rivers. I'll say the Chargers 10 winning season since 2003. The charges are correct. Missing one team with 13 1 of 11 and one with 10. What about the Indianapolis Colts? 13 winning seasons since 2003 now to 11 and 10, and I would say they're here. Your your clues are this They were in the same division these two teams, and I think one of them will come as a surprise that they've had 10 winning season since 2003 main divisions, So I'm going to take a shot here and say the Dallas Cowboys. 10. That's right. 10 winning season. It's got to be one of the other NFC East teams break. I thought Dallas was the surprise one. I'm surprised to hear they had 10 winning seasons. NFC East is winning season nine wins or more, right? Yes, that's right. Yep, I'll say the Eagles Eagles is correct the 11 winning seasons. The way people talk about the Cowboys in 10 winning season since 2003 It's not that bad, right? Like the teams that have been better. It's Eagles, chiefs, Packers, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Seahawks and Patriots. No, I didn't. I I didn't cheat on this, but I did see his list yesterday. But what stood out to me? I didn't look at the top What we did here. I looked at the bottom bottom. I had to check it. I didn't believe it. The bite. There's a franchise with one winning seasons can guess that 11 winning season since 2000 and three just 111. Oh, let's see here. Just one. Yeah, I'm with you. So I saw that and I had. I'm like I got to check that thought it was wrong. Yep. Mm. All right. I think I got to guess I'm not confident in this, but I'll guess this Chicago bears. No, no, it's not correct. The Bears have had Not many the Bears events sit right. It's not the Browns The Browns have had to. Yeah, Browns bed to the Jets have had to. At least the Jets have had 66 Okay. It would take it. Take most people a while to get to this team. The Lions have had four winning seasons since 2000 and three. My next guest right? The run lines are great answer. Wolf Washington said five Bangles have had 77 right. So one just one winning season since 2000 and three To me. By the way, I've had five. I mean, Here's your other clue, Okay? The reason I looked it up as I thought. Maybe it only meant since they moved Because the ramps No, it's the it's the Raiders. You're getting closer Raiders. Okay, It's the Las Vegas Raiders and I saw this. Listen. I thought that there must mean only since they moved to Vegas and no Their entire existence. They've had one winning season since 2003 and bring up that Jon Gruden comment where it's just what What was that confident? He said, right after right when he got rehired again. Um, there was something just like winning. That's all we do or something. I don't. I don't know. Yeah, that's weird about this organization. Something like that. But that season was 2016. The Raiders went 12 and four lost in the wild card round to the Houston Texans. 27 to 14. Was that Matt Shab? Yeah, because Derek Carr got her. No, it was Brock Osweiler. Soldiers started that game. He was a raider. Yeah. Broadcast weather. No, no, no. I mean for the Texans over the top. Oh, that's the game car was hurt. Connor Cook started. Yeah, for the race that didn't Matt McGloin play later on because they were just losing so badly or not, he might have out. He didn't throw up. He didn't throw a pass in that game. Connor Cook in that game 18 of 45 Connor Cook through 45 passes in an NFL playoff game. Mm. Raiders have had some pretty bad injury locked by the way when it comes to the post season. Right. I mean, Bo Jackson is on the list when the Ravens win the Super Bowl with the greatest one of the greatest defenses ever. They knock Rich Gannon out early in that NFC championship game. Mean Gannon was really good. And the Raiders had had a good good season. And then here you have, you know, you mentioned Derek Carr. They're they're only winning season and 18 years and they lose their quarterback to an injury and have to start a guy through who goes 18 of 45. "Haven't talked to Brian recently. I don't know how he prefers that. But I'm going to guess that's still too dangerous. Even if you wanted to be called that I wouldn't call him that gun. T my man. You're crying good future. Yeah, He wouldn't be my man. Any more epic fail you loser back fish. Why you? Hey, Bert Bert Sale. We had Matt McGloin on the show last week. Matt McGloin, of course, played college football at Penn State that had a He's a career as a backup quarterback, mostly in the NFL, and once upon a time, Mike Francis on W F and tried to pronounce his name. I called him. Matt MacLachlan. Matt MCG Louth in And then Matt MCL otherness. What would by so many people are named that what would you like to do today? Yes. Yeah. Good. Kids doubt it would be such a rodeo. I mean, I can't wait to hear Russo do this all day today. I mean, Everybody that cover the NFL wanted to avoid talking about the Packers G M's name for as long as he was employed, and now they can't not talk about it because the Rogers wants of fire. Listen. It and I'm like ya did you can't just lean on called him The freak? No, The freak of the Greek free. Yeah, You can't go on gun, t my man. By the way, I can't even spell his last name. There is no end early on there. I'm completely made that up. So don't even know where Vince is getting the end and his nickname either. It's not even there. He's putting himself in danger for it. I need to wear those glasses. The spells name Mike going, Matt McGloin is Matt. The cleverness is one of the all time list takes ever look, lover nous that sounds like a fried chicken place. Also Michael Lloyd's any easy name. It's not good to kids. I mean, come on. I can't believe it's that'll be easier to just say, gun team, my man, my man. Gun T Gun T for short. Amy, is that all week? By the way, Vince is not in all week for Amy. Oh, man, because that was gonna be a roller coaster of emotions every single morning waking up to hear how Vince pronounced the GM of the Packers name. What's it today? You know, Gun t gun, t my man. Oh, That'll.

"We couldn't have it as easy as you did with the wrist bands. I think there's an inkling off quarterbacks not being from this generation, seeing all the passing stats inflated and everything going into all the quarterback and going on this day and age. And I think there's probably an element of the eighties quarterback the seventies core back. Lloyd with the modern day quarterback, and especially that Brady's at that front of list as the greatest of all time because they think it's easier to play the position now, and they won't get the credit that they deserve. When all these new guys are getting the credit. So there's definitely different challenges because nowadays you have much more exotic defense is and I'm sure that there's it's far more sophisticated in terms of schemes to decipher and the speed in which you have to decipher it than ever before. But in the eighties, you could really get hit. Mean guys were up around the helmet down around the nay. You could really get sacked. That wasn't nearly as many pass interference is there wasn't nearly as many body blows that we get flagged. I mean, so you could get hit. You could get trucked. Your wide receivers could get chucked as well. It was harder to throw the football. You weren't just spreading everything out wide with five wide receivers all the time and getting it done The bills. The Oilers kind of did that. But by and large, you know, quarterbacks didn't do that. So I do wonder. If boomers kind of alluding to that, these guys Just robotic that, of course, they're going to be confirmed. Of course. Brady's gonna be confused by the Jersey numbers because he doesn't memorize anything. Anyway. It's just all on this card, and he's helped up by the rest. But that's It's a really interesting clip and Would say we gotta get Boomer of a bullish on the same time we are. So if we're gonna get boomer on, we've got to get we gotta tape Boomer during the day or something like this and then play the next morning. Because now I really want to deep dive. But all of this with Boomer, don't I mean, wouldn't you want more on this? Bogue's Well, I mean, I'm perfectly happy with him saying I'm gonna write number eight is a linebacker on my wrist band. I mean, you just put that look on you till you brought Matt McGloin. I brought Boomer, so I'm just gonna sit back. You can read into Boomer's comments. Whatever you guys want, but I'm not taking off. I'm taking a reality shot A man McGloin. I've got Boomer, You've got mad McGloin. Apparently, I've Brady Quinn as well. People have been telling me to s O. I'm rolling here. You guys do whatever you want after this. I don't know if you wanna put Brady Quinn against Matt McCoy. That's kind of a wash with just say so. I so I was so fine. I'll stick with just boom reverse, man. We're going to stick with Boomer. Don't use Brady and your argument. You got the wrong Brady. We're gonna bring sage Rosenfels. You watch out, and then we're gonna double down with weed. And then you see what? You got it right. You tried. We ingredients that no, he was smart not to get involved in this. Just please. Everybody promised not to bring Orlovsky into this. That's the last we can't do, Arlovski. We just can't do it. Yeah. So I was talking about this at the end of last hour. TNT broadcasting hockey, So it's going to be ESPN broadcasting hockey and instead of the NBC package that they had to say the other package is going to go to TNT and Turner. And I think Turner treats the N B a really, really well and they've done college basketball. Okay, there, play by play. Teams are really good. But putting Barkley and Kenny on college basketball during the tournament has been a disaster. And at least in my estimation, some people might like it and then with baseball, they kind of do it. Well, I think again, their game broadcasts are relatively good. I think the chip carry Booth was bad. And at times I find the TBS playoff coverage pretty boring. It's not a lot of juice, but I don't know. Maybe baseball is just kind of That temple anyway, so maybe doesn't need to be all that exciting. But in terms of doing hockey well, they've never done hockey. And aside from The studio coverage of the NBA, which is its own entity. Everybody's tried to replicate inside the N B. A. And nobody has shack and Charles and Kenny are just absolutely phenomenal. And you cannot say a bad word about them. They're just Incredible television every single night. But TNT has been able to replicate that. So what are we to believe about them doing hockey? Both. You're a hockey fan. Are you interested? Excited down that they're going to get the other half of the hockey package? I mean, to be honest, like my first emotion. My first response. Just I'm shocked that NBC is out of this and apparently pulled out of it yesterday, and I'm sure we'll get more details on why that broke down. So the fact that it's just not involving NBC because we're going on, like almost two full decades of them doing hockey it just it Z gonna be odd. It's not on NBC. I think, And then that the bigger picture here is that this is not gonna look I far as I can tell, is a traditional kind of for both things. ESPN and Turner. There's gonna be a lot of streaming a lot of offline off TV stuff here involved in this. So it might not be in a traditional way where the NHL is the focus, but it's gonna maybe have its own kind of new, unique home here where you know where to go find like HBO. Max. Apparently going to be involved this from the TNT perspective. Now people already have HBO, Max, and when they turn it on, they go I've got there's There's hockey here. Looks like they think there might be new avenues. To kind of catch people watching hockey that might not have watched it to begin with. So I want to see how all of that kind of the intricacies play out here because it's not as simple as just going to be on Wednesday nights on TNT, and that's obviously gonna be kind of the main thing, but it sounds like there's a lot of creativity and kind of like new age viewing involved in both of these TV deals, so I want to be able to either give the NHL full credit for being creative here or maybe wondering what the heck they're thinking. Once we know exactly what all the plans are. See, there's a flip side to the streaming packages in terms of getting a new audience in there that I think that you get less of a new audience, because I think with streaming you oftentimes target what you want to watch where you want to watch it and go there to get it. Like. Do you think that people are gonna are gonna pop on HBO Max and be searching for Ah, movie then suddenly see. Oh, there's sabers and lightning. Let me watch that ESPN. Plus is the same thing. I think they're kind of missing the boat when they try toe build content that they think People are going to go there to see and then stick around. It's like if I want to go watch Peyton's place with Peyton Manning. Okay, go to ESPN plus to watch that, but I'm not sticking around for UFC. Just because you have see is on there, or vice versa. So I think that that's a little misguided because I don't know when you okay? Yes, you go to Netflix. And sometimes you just search around trying to find something on Netflix. But most streaming packages. Don't we just say, where is the game? Where? Where is this show? You look it up and go. Oh, it's there. I'm gonna go there to watch it. I don't know if this brings in any new audience to the NHL, but it would provide more outlets for the NHL fan to watch more games. You know, ESPN? Plus, it's not just one game a night in a window. ESPN Plus can carry six hockey games and night on ESPN..

"We need an expert to help navigate the home loan process rocket can coming up. In an hour 20 from now the man that called the thriller yesterday on CBS between the Dolphins and the Cardinals. Andrew Catalan at 7 20. PM Eastern for 20 PM Pacific and then at 8 P.m. Eastern five, Pacific. We will chat, college football and NFL with former Penn State and Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin, so a whole lot to do today. We've got to get into a lot from the weekend, but I have a big question right out of the gate. And there was a lot that did transpire from over the weekend. Notre Dame they be Clemson was impressed by Notre Dame. And, you know, May I am not a Notre Dame believer and usually any big game and I did think Clemson led by D. J. We angle away if I said that correctly, I hope I said that. Rackley was going to get the dub. And when Notre Dame was up early, they went on that big drive to start things off to send a statement than Notre Dame was up late, and then all the sudden Clemson takes the lead. I'm thinking Clinton's goingto win, and I'm in constant scores and over time. I also think they're goingto win. And then Notre Dame gets the job done, and they had the idiotic storming of the field. We'll get into all that, plus Everything around the other's landscape of college football to where we give you the positive side of Notre Dame. Ifyou're a Michigan fan, or if you are a Penn State, then We will address your two coaches today. You're too overrated Coaches. At least Franklin has a big 10 championship. But that dude hey, does not show up in the big game, and this wasn't even a big game over the weekend. Aye, aye. Tolia Tongue of I lower again back to back. Two weeks ago. Taken down Minnesota, like you know, Right at the end the Miss Extra point. He was awesome. And then Penn State they didn't even show up. Against Maryland, which that was stunning and something that's no longer becoming stunning is the Michigan football program as Tom Allen's Indiana squad about the Hoosiers? Undefeated, trying Traci Key may contest that and still protest the Penn State gave the start the season but down, Does Harbaugh And down goes Franklin and the fighting Irish do soar over Clemson. I'm sure we'll get a rematch another time this year of that, and we may get it a third time as well. Depending on what could transpire in the A C C championship game. We'll get into all the NFL is well, I have not hit you on what the lead story is today. We'll get to that. In just a moment. Where yesterday we did see the bills stunned. The sea ought to make a big statement. Ravens bounce back wasn't overly impressive, but they got the W against the Colts chief's gotta scare up against the aggressive Matt Rhule, lead Carolina Panthers. Raiders. They went on the final play. As Chargers fans got their heart ripped right out of them. Once again, Steelers, they continued. I'm not going to say shine. They are surging. They are undefeated. But there was nothing to be impressed about about the Dallas Cowboys performance. And like we said, we'll be all over Dolphins and Cardinals. We did intentionally leave out one game. It will be the lead today. That is just the complete abomination for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As the Saints the Saints are the kryptonite for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as that was an ugly scene in top, Obey. We're Brady's Buck's got destroyed. That's going to be the lead. We will get to that in about. I don't know 30 45 seconds, but I have to actually ask a very important question today to start off the show. So Ryan Trey Seki now, Ryan, Traci Key before I ask you this question. Do you have any idea what the question is going to be about? You actually go ahead you first So I'm interrupt, No clue. No, not this could go anywhere if you had to use your ca basa. Do you think I am going to try to troll you? Or do you think this is just going to be an innocent question to benefit me? This is tough on my guts as troll. I feel like you're not done with the Penn State hate yet, So I think there's some sort of zinger coming. Survey says Pencil hate. And I know you're kind of in a good mood, but a bad mood because your Penn State football team lost. But then you're Notre Dame team won. So you have the double dip. I'm not going to troll you for Philip Rivers and his incompetence with your Indianapolis Colts. And I know you are not a supporter of Philip rivers. But how about you tell everyone across the 200 stations that were on serious sex and channel 206 and the radio dot com application and a day where there are more people than we've had in a while. Inside our Entercom New York City headquarters, which there's usually three or four people here. Now we have about 8 to 10 people who is the most popular person in the office today, who is the most beloved person? In the office today. Where if you take a poll all 8 to 10 people if you put a name on that pole, and then when you get to my name is Zak l Do you like this person? It would be a resounding universal. Yes. What did I do today for the entire office since we had a great momentous day, with the return down the Hall of Craig Card in a new afternoon show launched on wf fan What did I do to try to get a little synergy here between CBS Sports Radio and also W. F Mr Zakia was what will say after you about Mr Gelb. Mister Mister Gallop here buys the entire staff. The best pizza in New York City. That's right. I was driving in because I had to cancel my golf tee time today. I was on the island. I was supposed to Gulf and then I had to do a local radio head on. W I p with the man that I interned for Angelo Cataldi, and it was right in the middle of my I probably would've been on the fourth hole. Let's say, and I got paired up with two other people. So.

"Now be added to that roster that he didn't have before. And the thing I always remembered tryingto keep in mind is that Bruce Arians? Took the Carson Palmer was just kind of dead in the water in in Oakland product over to Arizona, and and he blows the lid off that thing. And Carson Palmer finally has the seasons. Not that he hadn't in Cincinnati for all those years with Marvin Lewis here, that great sort of coming out season and then the Steelers. Tear apart his knee wildcard weekend or divisional weekend. Whatever that was, and Jon Kitna had to come in, and that was it for the for the Cincinnati Bengals under Carson Palmer. That was early on, of course, but What I'm getting at. Here is Bruce Arians has resurrected quarterbacks before right, And it took the Cardinals to a 13 and three record to the NFC championship before they lost the Cam Newton. So I think there's reason to believe Tom Brady will be okay. My point here about thie F C, though, is that we're back in that same situation where we're looking up in a potential dynasty with the Kansas City Chiefs, and I know everybody's looking at Clyde Edwards, Hilaire and saying, this guy out of the backfield. He's a first round fantasy football talent. He's going to be a pass catcher. He's going to run the ball. Every body. It seems like in that Kansas City Chiefsoffense eats. So for me right now, you look at the sea and you go well, it's the Chiefs, and then you have the Ravens are up there at the top. I don't know how much people are still buying into the Tennessee Titans. I think it would be a little foolish kind of thunder knows Adam and not think that they're legit. Because when you've got Derrick Henry capable of going for 2000 yards every season, that's a guy who can carry an offense. The question is whether or not he could do it for a 16 game season last couple of years. He's come on real strong for that last five. Or six weeks, But maybe that's what you'd prefer, anyway. And looking at the sea. I think there are teams that stand out that are kind of on the fringe that and I'm bringing this all back to the 40 Niners here, and it's that Tonight. There's a couple of times last year were a play away from losing a football game. And I think back to the to the Raiders in the Jack del Rio season. Where if you have to whisper in my ear today and maybe markets, the water boy in the other room can can chime in. Did they go 12? And for that year when Derek Carr broke his leg, 11 5 12 and four Something like that. We have to look up the number. Exactly. Maybe Marcus or Dave can can jump in on that, anyway. That season where I wasn't it that they get into the postseason and Derek are gets her before they get to play a playoff game. And you got Matt McGloin gets hurt. Then you get Connor cooker. Okay, Dave confirms it is 12 and for that season and David fuel to run through the game log, and I have to go back and look at the game launch myself. That's a season where, remember they started Colin del Rio Black Jack del Rio because he was gambling at the end of all games. He was going forward in situations that we weren't certain. Maybe he should be going for it. By the way, one of the great names Jack del Rio, that one is for me. That's up there with riverboat Ron Rivera. I love that one. Did anybody who's a gambler and you get to tie their names. What? I always think that's a pretty fun one. So, yeah, both ex linebackers to acknowledge their debt. Both linebackers from the Bay Area, right? Moderate. Get a cow guy and you get a USC Galya Hayward high doing a guy down for Monterrey from the peninsula. So another I guess Monterrey is not the peninsula will further down there but anyway What I'm getting at here is that in that season, I remember thinking you could take just about every one of those. It seemed like a the end of every one of those games would have to look at with one score. Games were but just off the top of my head. I'm thinking four or five games there at the end of that season where I want to say they beat the Falcons early in the year where they went forward, like scored a touchdown at the end of the ballgame went for two instead of kicking the field goal, because that's what you do with the end of a ballgame. Just go take the victory. Go try to win that game on a Sunday instead of going to overtime. Dave tells me in my ear now 11 games. That's what you're That day of 2014 2015 11 11 games that year. The Raiders one by one, so 11 of their 12 wins 11 12 wins or buy one score. 11 of 11 of the 16 games were a one score game with the way it ended my point being That when you play that many one score games, it can easily flip and go the other way. And if you look at how things went down the next season, and I know Derek Carr's leg injury was a huge part of this. And then that was before Ron Rivera was on his way out. Not Ron Rivera. Jack Del Rio was on his way out that next season. You look at that, and you say Okay, it all it takes is one different playing the football game. And that thing goes the other way. They went nine and two in those one score games. Did the Raiders. I look at these games last year and I say the Niners came out on the right end of a lot of those close ballgames. And the Pittsburgh Steelers is one that comes to mind for me right and good teams execute in situations where they need to execute bad teams don't and that's why the 40 Niners pulled out that game against the Steelers last year despite making a couple mistakes. Remember there was the Jason I think you just committed a P I and then the very next play, he falls down on a touchdown pass over the top. Then the 40 Niners have a chance to score. Excuse me, the they turned the ball over and the Steelers have a chance to punch it in late in the game. Remember, there's the James Connor fumble the forced fumble on Dante. This catches the game winning touchdown identifying this one game, But you can also look at the the Seattle Seahawks game. The Chase MK made it for the Chase. MK missed it game. There's that one where you have an opportunity to walk away with an extra victory. You can go the other way in the Baltimore Ravens game. My point being, you played so many close games with razor thin margins against a really good football teams, and more often than not, they executed. They came out on top. But so many times in a football game. You can change on a dime because of one play or one missed you or one call. And again. It's about good teams executing. So that's the question for the 40 hundreds. Can they repeat the success? Even with maybe a different level of talent on the roster? You've now got the coded 19 stuff that you've got to. Ah, But you've got to navigate. They had 81 score games last year, and I bet if we looked through those Dave, I bet you there were five and three in those games. I always say that because I don't think they lost the gate. I mean, you lose the Arizona card, the Atlanta Falcons game on the last play of the game, you lose the had to be. They lose these There were four and three days in those games, but you said there was eight of them. Four and three, So they have to be for three days..

"The XFL had to shut down and that was not a surprise of course with everything that went on and all the sports stopping in the XFL couldn't continue their season it's a spring football situation that is very very difficult to be sustainable to begin with we thought that the XFL might have had a little bit more of a chance in the A. F. because the A. F. was basically built it with a house of cards and the XFL seem to have a lot smarter people in real broadcast deals that were happening but I want to leave just getting started it didn't get off to the greatest start in the world I thought it was a real bad football in there and then all of a sudden everything comes to a halt they just weren't able to survive and right now they don't have any plans to continue we don't know if that's going to happen or not I would like to see how this whole season worked out for the XFL would have built some momentum but after the first couple of weeks it really wasn't capturing people's attention like they had hope that's for sure but you know what it was it was competitive football you know and it's something that we don't see right now because of this pandemic and I actually enjoyed some of the games and some of the players are actually signing NFL contracts because of what they did on the field for the except also you know from a pure job standpoint opportunity standpoint you know I'm I'm going to miss it I'm gonna miss it simply because it was well funded and Vince McMahon I want to make sure that this thing would have been a success it's just amazing what this pandemic is done and how it is ruined not only the XFL but think about how many small businesses out there that are hurting now geo and you think about all the people out there that are adversely affected by all of this not to mention the people that have lost loved ones so are the the XFL goes by the wayside instead and just another spring football league that's not gonna make but not gonna make it because of something that nobody saw ng and and everybody's reacting to it in a different way so I'm going to miss it I know it sounds ridiculous but it did give players other opportunities to show their stuff to NFL scouts into coaches and and it's going to give a couple players another opportunity at the big one so I I was all for it yeah who knows I mean maybe there's a chance this time next year if the economy is humming and the NFL season goals as as well as planned as we hope that it does that the XFL maybe starts up again I don't know it's not something I'm necessarily going to miss I do understand that it gave players an opportunity so a couple of their best players are going to get signed art have been some NFL teams I'll get an opportunity to play for professional football you know in the NFL but for me it was it was tough but I did give it a shot and give it a shot multiple weeks I mean I was focusing on the New York team that was pretty bad had some rough spot bands going on there especially when you had Matt McGloin that was Startin we there was some interesting storylines of players having some fun being miked up but it's it's the it's not something I'm gonna miss it just another if this this one is in fair to lump it in with the other spring football league that haven't succeeded but really it's just I mean it's so hard to do it's just so hard to have people getting into other football other than the NFL or college football means damn near impossible the XFL's at the best shot but now we're not going to see them again probably forever so that this could be potentially the last time that we ever see a lead to try to start up and produce spring football I really believe that that if the XFL doesn't try to reignite next year or couple years we're just never going to see it again you know given the fact that April thirtieth seems to be the date that at least the federal government is talking about as to where we have to get to in this stay in and stay away from an isolation it's gonna be amazing to see what the TV ratings for ESPN and NFL network I guess they're gonna do a combined broadcast what those ratings are going going to be for the first night of the draft and the interest that's going to be in the draft it's always a highly rated show anyway but now with everybody shut in and sealed in can you imagine what the ratings are going to be on the draft it's gonna be it's got to be the greatest of all time it's got to be the best ratings we've ever seen for a draft by you know ten fold I think I it's impossible for it not to be may I know it's gonna look different the world be consuming it differently because the virtual draft but it what the hell else are we doing I mean there's there's probably a good twenty percent of NFL fans couldn't watch it live if not more because their work schedules or whatever it was that are now home because they've got no choice they're gonna be watching so I think you're gonna see a major uptick in it's going to be fascinating to see how it all goes down but it's it's you know it's also you know we're talking about the first round if you talk about the first half at that you know the team's gonna have to do this over the course of the three days I mean that this is going to be a long slog for these teams and unfortunately for them you don't work from the seventh round up to the first round the most important stuff starts right off the bat and you better have your bleep together or there's gonna be some problems you don't one of one of the best ideas that I heard and I and I'm not sure if I should attribute it to Adam Schefter or or whoever somebody came up with the idea that they should do each round per day and do it for a week and this way take kind of pressure off of everybody and also give us seven days of reality television yeah that is right around I mean I I there forever around I hate juries I'll be there for every round wooden you need I'd be there every round every thank you can I will I would definitely be I would I would definitely be that's why I thought that was a good idea because I'm also your wouldn't when the trade start happening in the communication that that's gonna be like as you said the fascinating part of all of it I I just don't know how it's all going to be consumed or how they're going to show it on television I know that you and I in New York most likely will do a three hour draft show on WFAN when the draft is going on so people that are not in front of a a TV and can't stay up with it maybe we'll hear what we have to say about it but I don't know you know this this whole thing is it's got a good it's got a chance to collapse in front of everybody out of China especially with all the warnings about the zoom if they if the I doubt they're going to use the zoom room but all the warnings about how insecure that particular be the I. T. part of that whole aspect that app is and I would wonder if the NFL is probably looking into doing some sort of kind of closed circuit in information system if they could that could not be hacked because you know somebody's gonna be trying to hack into this thing yet you have to figure out why oh sure of course I mean it's pretty people working on that right now the two people already trying to figure out how to get into Frank Reich's basement after we had a mon and that's where he said he was going to be Satan are doing some of the work the draft but I look at our draft shows a way to supplement what you'll be looking at on TV where everybody's going to have it on TV seeing what's going on but for jets and giants fans it'll be listening to us on WFAN yeah we'll be right there breaking down the pics immediately and they will even take some calls right away as well to get some instant reaction to some we don't normally do during these graph shows but why not this will be a little bit of a different one so I don't think people listen us in lieu of watching the draft I just kind of think that we're gonna be a supplement for them and be able to live reactions and opinions on everything that's going on as it unfolds alright let's go to the calls here eight five five two one two four C. B. S. it's.

"I'm not really a spring fall guy I'm not a as we like to call it he's the king of the **** the football not normally at the **** before I got to the guardians because of McLaughlin is Matt McGloin also known as McLaughlin is because my friends as a cold in that many years ago when he was the quarterback of the raiders it was going to start as any McLaughlin is so I got into what I said wow McLaughlin is is the guardians quarterback I'm into it so I actually sat down and I and watch a single licking that **** last year that a a yeah not a single snap of that so this year I put on last week I put on McLaughlin is in the guardian's against the vipers and then on Saturday I put on the guardians and the defenders to walk McLaughlin is I came in on the air talked out great McLaughlin this was after the first game and we talked about the game today and the club the minutes and how he lost his mind on in the defenders game is crushing Kevin Gilbride we did all the club in this segment on a fricking guarding gave you were even breaking down Kevin Gilbride softens so we reached out and we said this would be the good time to put my cluster and it's on the air because after a loss yes because I'll tell you why he may get benched any may become a complete non stories on point and also he was rushing his team and coaches on national TV couple days ago yeah I know you know this would be a very hard time for somebody come on in that stop it because I'll tell you why it's the perfect time for him to come on because the XFL is looking for promotion any way that they can get it and he created a buzz during his game and this would be the time to put him on and I don't I mean if you are in charge of the XFL PR department you want to have these guys in any to the lost when bad game good game doesn't matter you want them on a show like ours at any point so we reached out to the XFL people's that'll was the fellow that I know who does PR for them okay actually reach out to the fellow that al knows it does PR yeah and this fellow responded back that McLaughlin is is not available today or tomorrow and if I'm in charge of the XFL Peoria same people and send those shirts in awe at thanksgiving they sent us an XFL football it was wrapped like a Turkey I mean they are desperately trying to call over a walk up and say Hey all over what the hell's going to get us to even your players and what happened yeah this isn't available well first of all things been going are you kidding me you tracked him down so we try to do is knock on his door and a cell phone it's probably staying in a hotel was hotel I even said today or tomorrow because I know this is last minute asking form today so I said today or tomorrow hiding Matt McGloin he's hiding I mean that's in Santa me of giving your bride's got two Super Bowl rings what's it now this is so stupid yeah so now you know fine this is the way you want to do it this the I don't get my my club in his Jersey we can't get McLaughlin is on the air then fine I you know the next week I'm out now yeah but I've yet had we had mia had we were talking about it I was in and now it's just a back to any school the place how you're talking about how we are talking about it many guys name is Matt McGloin I and I know we're having fun at his expense because we're having fun at Mike's expands and it goes back a couple years ago when he was the quarterback for the raiders in a playoff game when their car got hurt I understand all that so we're having fun with it because that's what we do right here by however if you are the guy that throws interceptions for touchdowns return missing wide open receivers goes off on your coach your team in a live interview and you can hear him frustrated entire game in his war on just on all my explains in his world it's miserable because it's still a football game he's playing and we might not take it all that seriously but for him he he is okay fine although I think he had took that opportunity at half time to air its frustrations we're giving him another platform to do that and we're talking about the team as the quarterback of the New York XFL team part of your responsibility is in my opinion to promote it took it in any way possible so for having fun with it I mean we could just ignore it and in a situation like the XFL I think that they'd rather also have some fun poked fun in the club and it's anything else as opposed to completely ignoring it and being apathetic towards it you have yet yeah we're not apathetic let's go to Kristin how New Jersey Chris what's happened all Chris Hey guys I don't say one thing that the XFL has going for it is gambling done the only reason why I mean the guys at work watch it is because we can gamble on it and you know football is the end all be all sports gambling and they have a they have the numbers up there the overlanders in the spread and all that stuff as the game's going on right yeah yep I got the over under up there on the day of the spread by death they do have this right so I mean as you Chris I mean like it usually when you're gambling you want a wealth of information there's very little information about these team just now starting to come to fruition and we're starting to see a little bit better in focus as to who the better teams are are you able to make a bet like the feeling good about that better you just taken a gas now I pretty much don't go in blind fold it's about the action how about after two weeks now and get a better feel for the league at all well the war the first the first week I'd bet on the over under and they I don't know how they could do it Vegas was like two one three points off on new games without even seeing a gain you talk about what one they were weak one they were yeah we won yeah now the over under for a little bit lower because quarterback the couple of days worn down high scoring but yeah I like it does for you know gambling all right here and there right of course I mean there's nothing going on in sports right now and I think that's what they're counting on right because you know baseball's in the spring training let's go to try to fill the void their basketball and hockey or coming down to the the last part of their season before they get to the playoffs and really starts getting interesting you know you had the rough next twenty eight twenty four over the battle hawks the dragon seventeen nine the renegades twenty five eighteen over the Wildcats then of course the guardians were the only team that was shot outside on this I know that I would want to come on as a we got about I was on about wanting to yes it's about if you gonna grow this product as the quarterback of the team in the biggest market and you had no problem with the microphone in your face crushing everybody a couple days ago you you come on here yeah I think I would have wanted to start screaming about everything you know socks that sucks but guess what we're gonna come back this week and we're going to be guardian ask isn't that the whole point yes well yeah well it's not it's for most to gain the seeming right now not a Sam Donald I know but it's it's also not W. W. E. it's real football I mean they're going to reach out okay but what caught in his was acting like it was W. W. E. thank you were saying the thing that he did was he was cutting a promo as they say in the business rebates the trash and everybody I love the fact that they all say for the love of the game I love that yeah sure let's go to Mike was gone Coney Island some Mike Hey guys what's up man former club there is blow up is that public response you think they did anything about it you may do just that it's so we'd be talking about it for the you know and the reason why is because he's not coming on this morning if you simply do is jumping in the FAQ to come on this morning I'd say this whole thing is a is a work but so I this is what I do think I think that his frustration was real but I believe that he has been in both by the fact I don't know in boulder by the fact that the XFL is is in braces the whole you're miked up want to catch a natural reaction so we felt more comfortable doing that in this setting I don't believe it's I mean they they look terrible he looked terrible I don't think that he is if he has any hopes of being an NFL quarterback that did not help him yesterday no I Annabel front office are aren't you know they don't want to hear from a guy who's whining in the middle of the game about a you know a first the way the thing was on false come to that special guy was as respected as Kevin Gilbride right I mean these days we can go over it still very much respected I mean the guy's got super well it has to be arranged everything else but if you're so respected he'd be you have a job in the NFL alright let's understand but now when I and I don't want to be like right he he's one he and he's been around a long time it's one of the reasons why the XFL hired him is because fans around here know him and they love the fact that they won super bowls with them and I want you to misunderstand me all the things you're saying and I you when you apply it to the four major pro team sports I'm with you we would normally ask for a guy after a miserable performance like that but we're talking about that X. leap in FLA number so his life so here's the other thing to tell you if I were McLaughlin is one of these coaches in this thing I would have a guy like al I would have al I have al up in the press box listening to the game either on radio or TV and in real time telling me exactly what the other team is calling on offense because you can hear all the place yeah right I mean I got it almost it it's it on ESPN radio yesterday and you know I can hear the place I think I know exactly what's going on like yeah I I would have like an assistant coach listening to assure that they do real time eighty two zero acts exposed okay let's go to cover during the the the the and they encourage cheating which I think is it was awesome let's go to Jim in rich is going on Jim yeah right hi Jim start your order about what you think our project with it from every answer a question remember you get what is wanted somebody while he was a German O. G. Damian okay he wanted to coach you could see him watching the game and you're asking me stupid questions that what you do you go there are thirty two year you could do damage that is well done yeah that whole thing is all about standing gauge meant to be different sell their interviewing the coach is they're interviewing a field goal kicker after he misses a field goal they're interviewing Cardale Jones at free throws an interception yeah I mean they're trying to get both sides of it well this is my whole point is that the you know the XFL trying to do anything to get people interested including interviewing the coach in the middle of the game and your right gym there's no way that Bella checks the most extreme example any of those head coach in the NFL would probably punch a reporter's square an amount that they tried to do that in the middle of the game I mean I don't know if there's a show in America and that has supported the XFL this much this early on for crying out loud Bulmer a size in himself himself just said I was listening to the XFL on the rear to got to be some sort of special loser yes and we can't get much closer to me yeah who's in charge of that operation over there Oliver luck we got to talk to football on the stand who's the coach of the Houston Roughnecks all right example you knew everything Dallas is stoops now okay who is the coach was.

"On the cold air the XFL debuts this weekend I watched a lot of it to be honest I watched two entire games and then I watched pieces of the there too still way more XFL than I was planning on watching quick love hate or like don't like for the XFL I like the extra points I like the fact that no points are just give in to teams every point is earned I dig that I don't like the kickoffs I don't I think they're really they're not aesthetically pleasing it's really awkward it's gonna take a lot of getting used to to get on board with the kickoffs not a fan of the kickoffs yet one thing that I did like this weekend I like the access I like the idea that after dudes throw interceptions they have to answer for it I like that we get to hear the play calls I even like as much as I despise video replay I do like that we hear the conversation and it helps us understand better why replay officials are looking at what they're seeing and what they're discussing so I love the access but at the same time I don't like the access and here's what I mean by that out of all the player interviews that were done how many of them were actually like good and I and I just wonder I know the XFL in the W. W. E. are supposed to be separate when it be great if some of those people at the W. W. E. who coach up these wrestlers on how to create a persona and I'm not saying that these players need to do that he hate me thing I'm just saying a little media relations one no one like Hey guys you're gonna have a microphone in your face every single game let's have something interesting to say something insightful because in the NFL the guys that don't our great on the might guess what we don't hear from them unless their quarterback or unless they were vitally important to their team's success in that game we don't talk to them but in the XFL everyone is going to get a shot to say something and I would I would it would be a better product if these guys were coach stub GS a smidgen on their answers to these kind of questions overall I thought it was a B. or B. minus they got me for another week I do think they need star power I really do and I didn't see a lot of stars maybe Cardale Jones Nelson spruce let's talk about the buffs on another note here about Nelson spruce hundred over a hundred yards receiving so there were some bright spots certainly from a player perspective Matt McGloin so maybe these guys will couple it with another good week and then all the sun will get three or four guys that we tune in for there's only eighteen so if we can get three or four guys that are worth watching in the XFL that accounts for every single game on the schedule but to me I think the novelty of the rule changes will wear off and it's going to be left with how good is the product on the field how good is the broadcast product I thought that fox did a much better job than ESPN did I still think this week is going to run into problems weeks three four five six the moving forward because the curiosity factor will be gone but maybe this weekend was a feeling out period now they can have better broadcast they can have better interviews and maybe they can hype up some of the players that were pretty good and by the way the XFL I'm a lot of ways is like where John Elway's decisions go to die like seriously where he more dealing day there's like eight or nine former Broncos that we're playing this weekend in the XFL sure something that John Elway is very very proud of our quickly here story number three if they don't score here it's over Booker jump shot Mr rebound down here so we can it's got a break going sixteen.

"Sports even thinking about the NBA trade deadline and the fact that it can be jarring when the business of the game is forced into our bases right as fans we tend to be dreamy or region to be angry is one of the other but we we tend to take a view of loyalty and ride or die with our team so that's just not reality and it's certainly not reality for the athletes or for the coaches or for the franchise's themselves because they're still driven by the bottom line well the case of Oliver lack he's been able to do both he's been able to marry the two and I I think the fact that he's a respected member of the football community maybe gives Vince McMahon more of what he's looking for with the XFL to what we hear and that really been two years for the XFL announced that it would be doing a reboot it was not to be gimmicky it was going to be straight football but at entertaining football and a product that was sustainable that would fill a void where are the A. F. and other start up flameout football leagues had it done so this is not supposed to be crazy XFL no it is supposed to be it gives you a kind of an alternative to football and for people who are missing the NFL already there are going to be players that you'll recognize from the NFL I also appreciate the fact again that it's it's not supposed to be bells and whistles it really is supposed to be about the talent now it's mostly faster paced for short and according to lock and other officials with the XFL what they want is to make sure that it's a safer product so they're paying attention to the technology advancements but all but also the medical and scientific advancement similar to what other leagues are doing so they wanted to be legitimate this is not just going out there and job throwing chucking the ball around checking Duncan and in becoming one of those weeks that really doesn't stick because the talent isn't there the talent is on display they want to showcase their talents but it's been it's been the font it's been nineteen years since the XFL folded the first time and now been sick man wanted to be more physical game he he wanted to be one that does bring you some that added technology but also displays some talent again guys with names that you will remember Bob stoops by the way that we had him on the show I don't know if you months ago and and he was talking about the Dallas renegades in being head coach I think that's that's need to have names that you recognize the XFL is certainly a benefit and that includes Oliver lock it's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS sports radio luck is known for his time with NFL Europe he's also worked with the Houston Dynamo of the MLS he's worked in the NC double a again so he's been able to to Mary the business as well as the the entertainment value of the product and he was a guest in studio with our morning show on CBS sports radio he sat down with Dave in a mental are as to the DA show and just kind of gave you a taste of what the XFL will be like when it reboots this weekend I'm convinced based on what I saw in training camp we had all of our eight teams down in Houston for about three weeks in January I'm convinced based on what I saw that we're gonna have some pretty good football league we've got a good caliber of player I think a notch better if you will than the alliance and that's in large part because we were able to get some better quarterbacks right quarterbacks are first among equals in in the game of football you need good quarterback play to have good overall play so getting a guy like Matt McGloin will be the starter for the guardians are Cardale Jones or Josh Johnson right those are guys that I think the lines was interested in quite honestly but for whatever reason couldn't you know close the deal so I think the quarterback play is going to set us apart from from you know where the lines was and you're right the lines was pretty darn good football I enjoy watching it Oliver luck in studio with D. A. here on CBS sports radio and he believes that the quarterbacks will end up being one of the reasons why people can invest in this product as opposed to what happened with the A. F. Landry Jones by the way is the name that you might most recognized from the XFL he is I I don't even know if this is the thing yet but he's being touted as the face of the XFL it is time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and then was completely out of football working in construction I mean man got to pay the bills and so here he is back in football and I like that idea of your redemption a fresh start a new opportunity Cardale Jones hoping for that with the XFL as well some love to know how excited you are and how much you will watch this weekend moving forward do you guys remember the the debut of the A. F. it was all kinds of fanfare lots of people talking about it is because it had time on big CBS had time on over the air network television and then the games are harder to find and obviously the product was in that the business model wasn't sustainable the product wasn't run well enough for it to even survive the first season that shouldn't shouldn't that will be a problem because of Vince McMahon and the money that he has behind the XFL but if the football is in good is an entertaining people will stick around regardless so how interested are you a law radio to find our poll or you can weigh in on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence right now it seems like more of you are interested to see what the XFL puts on the field so more with Oliver luck and also Pat McAfee who does the midday show here on CBS sports radio on the eastern time zone I he's going to be working as a sideline reporter so we'll get his opinion and and his expectation for the debut the reboot this.

"And Human Services at their really know roster position battles of note everyone kinda has their spot going into this training camp and he says I think it's a bad thing players need to compete with each other being on edge is good Anna and I agree with that to a certain extent but I also think that that notion is a little bit over played because as agent it was just saying before so I was so rudely interrupted by hash tag technology these are guys almost every single one of them can be fit into three categories either one the the more catch all is that they've been a part of to loot consecutive losing seasons with the Denver Broncos a franchise that just doesn't do that so there's that though that column which is a lot of guys or you get the guys who were in the if for making a Venn diagram there guys that share both or multiple ones right then you get the guys who you have the guys who are who are are in a personal crossroads Justin Simmons in a contract here Chris Harris is in a contract year Joe Flacco trying to prove that he still has a lot left in the tank and that the ravens made a terrible mistake letting him go and then you have the third one which any guy that's not either in the personal one or the team one is the your an adult you know what I mean like you should be self motivated do you really need some twenty one year old kid out of college to push you at your job if you do then that then that speaks to you right I think a lot of you are self motivated you're motivated by the pursuit of being the best at your job you don't need somebody constantly pushing you it's not it's not a hindrance and I guess that's where I would land on this it doesn't it's not a bad thing to have competition at positions but I do think sometimes it is over blown a little bit on you know you gotta have competition at every position I don't know we're just talking about tax about homes what competition does he have on the chief roster thank Matt McGloin is the backup in Kansas city so not every position has to have somebody waiting in the wings speaking of Patrick well home Steve ads that I think make you sore to tons of the wrong resumes which makes finding a great candidate like well trying to find a needle in a haystack that's not smart then there's the smart way at.
