"Jess and fields is not as fast as Kyler Murray or Lamar Jackson. He just doesn't have the speed to get to the outside that Kyler or Lamar has. Let's acknowledge that, first of all. So yes, he's not as fast. However, that was not the problem against Chicago. I expected Justin to be able to make one guy miss in the backfield escape a sack and run around. The problem was it was never just one guy. It was like two, three, four people in his face immediately snapped the ball, guys, pressure in his face and it was constant. The pressure was unrelenting. I have answered my house. They always are near our sink. And it was like, no matter what you do no matter how much cleaning you do, no matter how much you get rid of the crumbs, the answer always there, they're just relentless. That is exactly what the pass rush was like for Cleveland. If you ever have had an ant problem, and you're like, I can't get rid of these ants no matter what I do. The same feeling of no matter what you do, you always try to deal with it, and then you look at every morning you're like, they're back. I can't get rid of them. That was how it felt to watch the bears try to block the browns defensive line. No matter what they did, no matter how many times you had hope every new play, hey, maybe it'll be different this time. No, it was never different. They'd never could solve it. And I want to acknowledge something really quick. First of all, I am not going to be the person who will defend Matt nagy. I did not like the play calling, I saw bears coach Matt nagy called zone read a couple of times. I thought there were a couple times where he tried to move the pocket with a sprint out or a bootleg. But he did it like a time or two and then didn't come back to it. And I was really frustrated, dude, you got to get Justin Fields moving outside of the pocket. And you have to call it. And it felt like Matt nagy was kind of waiting and hoping for Justin Fields to make it big crazy play. Make someone miss in the backfield and run around. And rather than putting him position to do it, Matt Maggie just waited hoping it would happen. That is not a good way to coach. You have to put people in a position to be successful. You can't just cross your fingers, call a bad play, and then hope they're gonna do something explosive. That's not how you coach. So I felt like Matt nagy could have done better. And I have in the past defended him and this is the closest I will get to defending Matt nagy. I will say this. No offense can work with a bad offensive line. I don't care what play call you make, if the bear is offensive line plays the way they played against Cleveland. It's hopeless. I wonder, how would Sean mcvay have done? Sean mcvay is the head coach of the LA rams. If you gave Sean mcvay, the bears team we saw against Cleveland. That mismatch. That bad offensive line, a rookie quarterback in his first ever start. I don't think Matt nagy did good, but my question is, how well do you think a really creative smart coach like Sean mcvay or Kyle Shanahan would have done first of all, it would have had a way more motions, although the question is can is a bear's offense even disciplined enough to run motion and not screw it up and can your rookie quarterback because it's.

"I'll get into Look, we could do more football, basketball. Whatever it is you want to talk about if you feel like discussing Such things by calling me at that number 855 to 1 to 4 to 27855 to 1 to 4, CBS. If not, I'm gonna discuss something that I watched yesterday. Look in a in an age where there are so many options. With all the streaming services and different things. You could watch Nanako watch movies right from your house. As far as you know, that is supposed to be in theaters because I guess you still can't go to theaters. I don't even know I haven't even tried in a while. But It was. It was a good one. It's hard to get a show to stick nowadays, right and really pay attention. Do not just watch it while you're on your phone but actually watch the show. Well, I found one of those shows. We'll get into that on the other side as well. 855 to 1 to 4 to 27855 to 1 to 4, CBS Salad Kata and for Bill writer Afternoons with Tiki and Tierney. This team is they've just good, and we just didn't want to admit it because they had some struggles. But with Tom Brady at the helm, they rose to the top really, really quickly and really, really easy. This guy shows up and I don't believe there's another quarterback in football that was available or could have been made available. That would have done that for the Tampa Bay. But as good as they built the team of the GM, you're right. They're not winning anything of Tom Brady's not quarterback Tiki and Tierney, three Eastern Noon Pacific afternoons on CBS Sports Radio. Opinions. Zach Gill's got him. The Bears don't have a damn clue what they're doing. They're celebrating eight and eight. Oh, that's garbage. You were going up against the end of the season, the Texans, the Vikings and the Jaguars, and we actually played a good team in Green Bay Final week of the season. You get blown out the losers. That organization is a losing organization. Ryan Pay should be gone. Matt Maggie should be gone. SEC.

"Was asked about the best spot for Carson Wentz. I think the best landing spot for him would probably be Indianapolis, where he has a strong relationship with Frank right from their time together with the Eagles, But Indianapolis is very calculated, and it's off season process and That they they sort of set a price for a player that they're adjusted in and stick to it. So if the Eagles are asking too much for Carson Wentz, I could see the Colts bowing out and the Chicago Bears possibly being the more desperate of the two teams. I mean, this is a situation in Chicago, where Matt Maggie, the head coach, Ryan Paste, the general manager. Probably need to win this year in order to keep their jobs on. They may be willing to stretch a little bit more than the Colts might be. So that's why I would favor Chicago. If it's those two teams. Those of the two teams. We've heard the most strongly involved here. There are other teams that are kind of on the periphery of it. That could get involved. For instance, Carolina if they feel like they're not going to be able to get the show on Watson Might get more interested in Carson once, so there are other teams are on the more teams the better for Philly. But right now, if you tell if he's saying bears and culture, the two most interested that bears might have the edge there and just in terms of what they're willing to pay. Which we've been arguing against you here with Dan Graziano said. He said, indeed sets a price and sticks to it. Yes, because their GM knows what he's doing exactly. Chris Ballard. Indy sets a price and sticks to it, the more desperate team Bears because Ryan Pace might not know what he's doing. So that leads us to the Who's more desperate game. Yes, Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to play Who's more desperate. We've got a bunch of will. We've got a bunch of college on the line, and what we're gonna do is we're gonna play. A desperate character from movie history, and you have to tell us is the character in the movie mortgage desperate or our Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy Mork desperate. It's a very simple game and we're going to start with Tom in LaGrange. Tom. Do you understand our game today? The Who is mortgage desperate game? Yes. Okay. I'm gonna play a sound bite for you. I want you to listen closely. You don't have to guess the movie or anything like that. We'll discuss the movie. Listen closely. Listen to the desperation welcome..

"Wagers. And before we hand it off to Danny, Honey, before we get out here, we got to go back to. I looked up all the salaries at the break. How truly ridiculous, Gar And John were with some of the decisions. They signed. Holy smokes. Yeah, So there's a lot to clean up there, isn't it? My God. All right, Danny. All right, gentlemen, we spent a good portion of time talking about Carson Wentz. Let's continue. What's up, buddy? Sound beautiful. Doug Peterson and Matt Maggie have a long history together as assistant coach is supposedly they are very tight. If Carson went is not the guy that Matt Maggie should bet his career on shot or no shot Doug Peterson, his friend. Would have already given Maggie the heads up and put an end to this nonsense. Shot. If Look, I was talking to Dani earlier and I said, Okay, Danny, let's fast forward. You're the program director of X Station. And you call me and you go. Hey, man you worked with so And so What do you think of that guy? If I said to Danny is closest we are even though we butt heads. Danny, don't you dare hire that guy. Bad, dude, You don't want him uncoachable he would be, it'll be a nightmare. Danny's gonna go. OK, I'm moving on to my next guy, right? Yeah, I'd take your word for it because you work with someone. You trust them. You have to trust their opinion. Correct? Yeah, I would. I would say the same. I would say that it's sometimes you just have to be able to ask someone else. Hey, I wasn't close to the situation. You know this particular player? What do you think before I pulled the trigger or suggest tougher management what we should do, so I think that's just good business. So the second part of that is shot or no shots, since it seems as if the Bears are still going down this road with the Eagles. Shot or no shot. Doug Peterson gave Matt Meggie the blessing. Ready. Gave Matt Meggie the blessing, I would say shot. I would say shot to that. If they're going down this path, if they are, If they're still going down the path which were led to believe by everybody, Yes. None of whom they are in that room. But I Adam Schefter xyz close to in that room as you can get. If Jesse, right, if they truly are going down the path yes shot. Then Doug Peterson has given his blessing. Absolutely. All right, gentlemen, moving on staying with football TV. Only US Super Bowl watching audiences were down less than 92 million. It's the lowest to watch a Super Bowl since 2006. So I ask you guys shot her No shot. The pandemic Canceling Super Bowl party proves one thing that people could care less about the actual game of football. I'm going to say no shot because streaming numbers were an all time record total in terms. You're exactly right about the TV ratings. I think that may have affected people having the parties and watching all of that, but it's still That the Goliath of sports in this country? Yeah, it's it was still on. But in different sources, I think every year we do this, Danny, we are going to get this form The MBA Major League Baseball will get this from soccer, possibly and definitely the NFL when their arm or than one source to be able to watch a game. On your phone's streaming watching to traditional networks. I think that the numbers will go down some. I don't think there was TV's turned off across the country just because we're in a pandemic, it was still interesting storyline. The NFL Even as a college football fan. I could tell you the NFL's of king of sports, and it draws a big number. So even though it was down, I think it was up on other platforms for the Super Bowl. All right, gentlemen, the Pistons agreed to trade Derrick Rose to Tom Thibodeau in the New York Knicks shot or no shot. Fido. Bringing Derrick Rose to New York is a make good for earlier in their careers together. Uh, Wow. Um, make good. He's saving him from Detroit. Uh, well shot for sure. Okay. That part shot. You know what? Derek? I ran you into the ground. I broke you all stop. I may be responsible for putting your career to where it is. Now you're in Detroit, which is like being in Siberia. Guess what? I'm bringing you to the New York yet no shot because Derek actually re signed after being with Detroit when he hit the market. He and other teams express interest. He actually enjoyed playing there from what I heard, and Tom truly thinks Derek makes him a better basketball team and Derek and Tom, despite what people who are on the minutes. Police want to believe Derek and Tom are exceptionally close, and Derek did not think he was overused. I think that Tom Thibodeau if we know anything about Tom Tom likes likes veteran players, and he's trying to win now, and that's why Taj Gibson is on the roster. If joke him No was available. I'm sure he'd bring Joe came back because he trust those players. They're part of the Chicago Bulls team that won it in in New York. They're wondering well, how come Quickly. Now we've seen the mix a couple of times here if your Bulls fan, so you know quickly, The rookie comes off the bench and it's real easy hot. When he comes off the bench, he really is able to light it up. And so he likes quickly, But not like you likes Derrick Rose. He will continue to ride the Randall bandwagon and run it with veterans. More so the young players S so That's why roses there he's going with veterans. He trusts more still than trying to develop young players because all he's trying to do is win. That's that's the Tom mantra. Always. All right, gentlemen, last one today is National Pizza Day Shatter. No shot. You, too, will be indulging in some pizza and give me your favorite topping. I said no shot today. Pizza is a weekend thing for May Friday is in cap knows this. They like going out on a Friday going to lose on on a Friday, either downtown or Going to my favorite spot in in floss more. Where Jonathan is a great manager from lose, So that's a weekend thing for me, so no shot on that, Um Sausage or cheese for me. Okay, so I did not know It was National Pizza Day. I am Court. My wife is quarantining away from me because she's going to see our grandson are new grandson. It was just born on Friday. So we're like two ships passing in the night. Normally, that would be a topic of covered. Hey, honey, it's Pizza Day tomorrow. National Pizza Day. Do you want me to bring something home from work, or do you want to make something so because Danny, just enlighten me on that? I will be making that crustless pizza that my brother gave me the recipe for I will have that today in honor of National Pizza Day. My favorite topping without a doubt, sausage, pepperoni onion together. Take that sounds like a hell of a meal. It'll be good. Sounds delicious. It'll be low card. I was wondering where the pizza was last year on National Pizza Day. I thought I think you fed the whole station. I think Mindy's you Mindy fed the whole state. Yes, she sent pizza's here. Yeah. She said. Heart shaped that was on Valentine's Day. I think she sent it twice. I think you've dropped the ball today. I think I did. Yeah, but that's okay though. Like I'm course I'm not there. But it's easy for you to say that's okay. You're at home. I'm just saying that I can get it next time. You know next. I'm not complaining about it, Danny. See, That's the thing I'm not complaining about. I'm saying that it's something I would usually eat on the weekends on Friday, Saturday when I'm watching games. I'm not complaining about it. It's great next year. Hopefully, this time next year we will have pizzas there at the station. I will make sure of it. I'm gonna put it in my calendar with an alert. For February. 9 2022. There's no shot. You're going to do that. I'm gonna do it right Zero shot shot. Absolute shot. No shot. All right. If you see a coyote. There was one in my neighborhood last night. "You have to have as a head coach. You want to hear confidence? Connor, play it. This is confidence on die. I'll tell you this in any fight. It's the guy who's willing to die. Who's gonna win that inch? I know if I'm gonna have any life it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch. That's what living is six inches in front of your face. I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next year. Look into his eyes. Now. I think you're gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a guy. Who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows when it comes down to it. You're going to do the same for him. That's a team, gentlemen, and either we heal now as a T Wei will die as individuals. That's football guys. That's football. That's football. Thank you, Al Pacino. That's football. You guys can chime in 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. That's four CBS. It's Carlton's on CBS sports radio in today, and we're talking about These head coaches that have been hired in the National Football League. Yesterday. We got a chance to hear too. Of the guys that got their deal's finalized in Nick's Syriani and David Collie. Syriani didn't impress me. It's just what it is. And everybody says you're going overboard. I want to take you back to 2018 to 2018 hiring cycle. Do you remember you probably don't because everybody's worried about so many other things in this world that are going on right now, right? Mean Colvin 19 is right in our face. We got all this other stuff that we're dealing with. And you probably don't remember. So let let me help you. 2018 Steve Wilkes was hired as the Arizona Cardinals new head coach. That Maggie got the job with the Bears. My name at Patricia became the lion's head coach. Frank Wright took over the Colts. Had Schumer with the Giants. And a guy named Jon Gruden said. I'm coming out of retirement. He took the job on to become the Raiders head coach. There's one more Might Grable. Became the coach of the Titans. No, I just wanna go down this list. 12. Half these guys were Not head coaches anymore. Steve Works got fired. The next year, Matt Maggie should be fired. In my opinion he still being retained by the Bears. Matt Patricia's back with Bella check. Isn't that ironic after being fired by the Lions? Then patch humored in last either. You don't know how this is going to shake out. Everybody thinks they got the right guy. We'll know in three years, three years is playing up time in the NFL will know in three years of Robert's. Allah knows what he's doing, and if he's still there with the Jets, and if they've turned things around and two Staley with the Chargers and Arthur Smith with the Falcons, all of these guys will know Urban Meyer, who's never coaching NFL game and everybody's going. He knows what he's doing. He may This is a whole different monster. The greatest college football coach in the history of college football. Next saving didn't conquer this. So I think I remind knows what he's doing. I believe he's got a handle on it. But we're gonna see Because so many guys take these jobs on and think their head coach is you have to know what you're doing, and you have to sound confident so men will follow your lead. Here's the other thing, too, when talking about these head coaches. You know, I, uh, I see this all the time. And, ah, lot of this is part of just what happens with relationships and coaching relationships, But You know these organizations and you look at him and you go. Are they making the right choice? Just don't hire somebody because of their connection to somebody. Just just don't do that. I mean, Bella checks a prime example guys. You know what I just said in that Patricia Matt Patricia left what's become the coaching lines? Now he's back. With with Belichick. Romeo Cornell, left. Eric Mangini left, Josh McDaniels left came back. Bill O'Brien. Who's now the coordinator, Ironically, in Alabama, But O'Brien left, Yeah. You want a couple of you know, we got to the playoffs. None of these guys had Bela Chick success haven't won Super Bowls. His apprentice coaching tree is fruitless. It just is. So when I hear well, you know, he knows such and such and he worked for, such as you Don't hire a guy just because of who you think that guy, uh, you know, coach for She's not gonna be that guy. Gotta be his old guy. And that mistake is when you know what's happened Time and time again, So I don't know what kind of coach Nick Syriani is gonna be. But I do know this plan one more time for me, Connor. I do know this. You gotta sound like you know what you're talking about. Next thing that's very important to me is that we build a smart football team. We have a smart football team here, and I know we have the people in place to do that. The first part of that The first part of being smart is knowing what to do. We're going to. We're going to know what you're gonna do Systems in place that Are easier to learn. All right, complicated to the defense or offense that they're going against the special teams group. They're going up but easy for us to learn because when we can put that because we when we can learn our system and we can get good at our system, then our talent can take over less thinking equals talent take over, But we need to have systems in place and we will have systems in place. To do so Well, let's talking. How about that? How about that? Oh, my goodness. 855 To 1 to 4 to 27 is the number for you to join us. Uh, we're coming to you live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios Rocket mortgage guys is giving away millions during the Super Bowl. Super Bowl 55 with Rocket mortgage Super Bowl Square sweepstakes. C rules and enter for free today at Rocket Mortgage squares that calm We got plenty to get to coming up in about 25 minutes from now we'll talk plenty more NFL or the guy who knows the league..

I'm saying it because it's a fact I'm talking about the worst rule in football. No, the worst ruled in all of sports. The rule about the ball being funneled out of the end zone and going to the defense really is horrible, and the worst part is everybody knows. It's a terrible rule. Gym room noon eastern 9 A.m. You know about the direction of the future the bears, but If I had to give up some pics. You get a franchise changing quarterback? Would do it. I mean, guys. We've never had 1 24 quarterbacks in 20 years for the Chicago Bears. Will he come here? Yes, sir. No. Who the hell knows? I'm sorry. And If I have, the Bears have an opportunity to go after you go on in. You go on in because he's proven he's already proven. And you don't even know no one trust these guys. To make a pig in a draft. "All right. So if you missed it again way were talking Albert Breer. Scratchy phone. The Bears have a news conference at 10 o'clock. Yes, And it will be George McCaskey. Ryan Pace, Matt, Maggie and Ted Phillips. We'll all be part of the news conference. So here is my I do not have anything. Those source telling me this yet. I reported two months ago, I thought Ted would retire. The fact that he's going to be up there. There is no reason for him to be up there unless he's going to step down. Why would you have Ted Phillips up there to answer? What question? Hey, how's the balance sheet this year? For what reason other than to say, Ted is retiring. He's done great things for the organ. I can't believe that the end of this news conference there's not gonna be that shoe dropping. Yeah. Why would George and Ted be there? Right. Well, George has to say why he's keeping these guys. I get that. Not just you don't have to justify anything He doesn't have to. He's sometimes there's like I remember any of your press conferences where he has been there, but also under the press conferences where it's just been nagging and pace. I think last year was just nagging page. I think that maybe George and Ted needs George there or shoulder to cry on. I think I mean, just to be like, you know, Ted's on so much for the organization like George will start off and then introduced Ted Ted. We'll talk about his years with the Bears, and they'll be together. I Believe George has to be there. George wants to win. He doesn't know how to win That's evident. He's a diehard wants to win he's willing to commit. The resource is we've stopped with you corrected people yesterday. They're not a cheap organization. They just built the number one building in the NFL for $100 million Khalil Mack and all these, Robert whatever it is, he has written the checks. It's not about the money. It's about the selection off players and the way they're being coached. Period, but I believe Ted Phillips is stepping down. That's just my gut. I don't know if he's stepping down or not. I think he belongs there. I think that George McCaskey Ted Phillips, at least have a pulse of what the fan believes right now. I think they know the fans aren't happy that they're bringing it back for. Repeat, I least hope they are now Listen, Ted Phillips, although you say he's just up there being an accountant, the fact of the matter is he was in the room and helped hire Ryan Pace. He made that decision with George McCaskey. So if the decision now is to bring Ryan Pace back, who failed three times at quarterback, and now give him another go at it. Ted Phillips should be on the dais with George McCaskey to kind of sit there and take it. Listen, we made the choice the first time it was wrong Choice. You all feel that and we're going back with them again. Here's why, Or at least I'm here to answer your questions. If you're gonna ask me I don't know if he's going to step down. I think this is more of a We're trying to be as transparent as we possibly can. We know how you feel, Bears fans. We know how you feel is the media and we're going to sit up here. We're not going to tell you everything, but we're going to sit up here and act as if we're being as transparent as we possibly can be. Okay, Danny, That's a very valid point. My question to you is bears fans are so Anti Ted Phillips mean Sylvie leads that charge and has for a long time It starts at the top. But if you allow him to answer football questions, you have completely short circuited the notion that It's Ryan and Matt, who make the calls over there. Ted's not involved in football. But why? Why does he have to answer a football question? Now? If they ask, why did you decide to go back with Matt and Ryan? He can answer that with George. That's not a football question. That's a decision. He is the president of the Chicago Bears. Whether or not you want to say, is accountant his business card, says president And if he is the guy that George McCaskey turns to for advice or appeases sounding border just somebody that he likes to get advice from And he's part of this decision. Then he should be there to be held accountable. He's not going to say we're going to draft a quarterback. We're gonna go the free agent round those questions. He'll he'll say, Hey, Matt, Matt and Ryan are here to answer those questions. But big picture franchise structural questions. He belongs there. You disagree. I disagree with you is the president until further notice. Okay until somebody else's. He's the president. But this I don't care about this conversation. I don't Get because ultimately what bears fans care about is how do you get better from eight? Nate? I don't we know with the face of the franchise is it is George McCaskey as owner and pace and nag you're coming back. I don't want is answers. Hard questions and good answers of how you fix this. But if I don't care, but if he's stepping down a retiring, it might lead to a football president of operations or a new GM. Is that it could be. Is he coming through the side door? Ladies and gentlemen? Louis Riddick may be very good through the side door, He pops up on the another screen on Zoom, See what if he says I am stepping down and George says Athe Ryan Pace. I'm not endorsing this, So don't think this is it. Me co signing it. I'm just laying out a scenario. What if they said Ryan is becoming executive VP, and we're going to hire a new GM. And Louis. Riddick ends up the guy. What if so, That would be great news for the Bears. That would be so we'll celebrate that tomorrow. But right now debating whether or not he belongs up there, I agree with honey, It's kind of a few dollars conversation. He's the president. He's going to be up there. The question I have for both you guys in the audience is, is there something that they can say today when they meet the media and the wage that's gonna win you back over because for me, is a Bears fan. It's going to suck next year. Yeah, they could say later German, Louis, Riddick or Peyton Manning or someone else that can be in the room for a different opinion. Look who's coming to dinner. Louis Riddick. There you go. Well, that'd be something That'd be amazing. Let's go back to the phones and Russell's out and killed there. He's up, Russell very morning, guy, Graham. Well, I got good news. Danny's figured out our whole lot. Draft problem with his neck. Jones comments. Some G m kind of book and it has like staffs, and they watched tape. And Ryan cases like just give me a picture of these guys with their shirts off and I'll do the rest. Okay. I appreciate the call. Thank you. Let's go to Jake in Yorkville. Hey, Jake. Morning, guys. What's up there? I got some steps with her Met Ryan here. All right. Pro football reference. That ride forth and yards with over four. 1035 years old completion. Bad sex with that call. Go ahead, Jake. We'd Legan attempts with 626. You keep where you right in the draft draft alignment. But this is a viable option, I think could work. He drafted young guy under him and all Goes on between cat today has gone hopefully, like you guys said. Maybe pace gets bumped up. Louis Riddick comes in pretty to call guys. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate you the problem on Matt Ryan. Amount of money that he makes. I think he signed in May team for 150 million. Well, that's not the way you know it's funny. I think we talked about it not too long ago like because you mentioned them. This Was that the money issue with him much money. Remember? There was rumors at the deadline. They've moved him and Julio Jones, and then you looked at what? Whoa! Yeah, you'd look that up are the dead money is just ridiculous. I'll look it up again and see if I can come up with Is there a scenario? What do you have to give up? But that's not. I mean, older quarterback. That's not what you're looking for. You looking for someone who could be a cornerstone for 10 years. Okay, so you if you were close, you do that cap, but you're not close. Okay, so you would have him. For the 21 season. The 22 season in the 23 season at the age of 38. Then he'd become an unrestricted free agent..

"They backed their way into the postseason. They don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Was an extra spot was created. All right. That's the standards going in. They didn't win that last game of the season that even shop against the Bears. So because they beat three bottom 60 fences and the final four games. They get into the plants and people think differently, Mr Biscuit? Absolutely not. If you watch that game. If you watched that game on Sunday, it was terrible. Safety and play well. Saints are bad. The best defense continues to play good football. And the offense is just miserable. And that's even with Montgomery and the offensive line getting better as the season did progress. Yes. You had winds drop that football, which did not help but still, you're not winning that game. Who's responsible for the incompetence. And the failures of Mr Biscuit. It's Matt Maggie. And who's responsible. For Mitch to risky It's Ryan Pace. A guy could have drafted to Shawn Watson. The guy could have drafted Patrick Mahomes. I saw this stat on Get up already. Yes, I'll read it again today because it's worth repeating. The Bears offensive scored one Fewer touchdowns in 18 out of the 50 games under Matt Maggie, including the playoffs. That's not just on that nag. It's on Ryan Pace. Who's Ryan Pace, giving Matt Maggie to have success with They just have to be an average offense. They would be a good team. They're constantly below average on offense. So the Bears bring back Matt Maggie. They bring back Ryan Pace. And what does it signify to me that they had no guts? That they're foolish. They should get ahead of the process right now, because I could guarantee this this time. That's your most likely the Bears don't have an answer at quarterback. The Bears are not a good team, and you're gonna be sitting back and you're most likely gonna be firing Ryan pacer Matt Maggie..

"All right. That's a bears fan. What's the worst case scenario? We've yet to hear anything? From hell. Asshole. I think we're I think we've reached worst case scenario. I think that I think that no matter Who is in charge, because I don't think this this is worst case scenario. We're in worst case scenario, right? Worst case scenario is they're sitting there and actually having debates, two days worth of debates and listening. To Matt, Maggie and Ryan Pace. I don't know, plead for their jobs. Um, you know, make the case of why they should there. The guy's toe lead this franchise through the next four or five years or three years or however long you give them We've seen this for three years. The team hasn't improved since they were eliminated from the playoffs. They've gotten worse. Every single year. So to me, this is the worst case scenario because I think no news is bad news for Bears fans. Because I think They're trying to figure out How long to give Ryan Pace and Matt Maggie with a new Because this is what they're gonna do, right? They're going to say Maggie might be in there saying I can't win with this guy not pace with Travis Key. I need a new quarterback softballs. Ain't the guy either He'll be a good backup, but we need a new quarterback, and I want to be a part of that selection process because I wasn't before. So then, when you tired a coach to a quarterback, he's going to get more than a year. Right. He's going to get at least three years, so I think they're talking about, uh, extensions. Extensions for these guys, because if Maggie has two years left on his deal, Ryan Pace has a year left on his deal. We're talking extensions for these guys extending Ryan pace a year extending our exciting right phase two years giving Maggie another year, three years, three years for these guys, they draft a quarterback. You're drafting 20th. Which means guess what Trader Pace gets to move up. So you get your mortgaging even more of the future to draft a quarterback, and then these guys are here for three years and your you see what they do with the new quarterback Now, if it works, it works. But I've seen enough and I think that's the worst case scenario, right? Is there trying to figure out how long To give these guys to make it work to me the worst case scenario. Would be George McCaskey, not realizing that he needs to make a change until this week like that, to me, is a bigger issue. Then say you mentioned having these individuals beg for their jobs back Ryan Pace and magnetic banking. But you know what? I mean? You know what I mean? I I think I think if that's I'm walking by the house, his office and he's saying, Why shouldn't I fire you? I think you've already lost the game. If that's if you're an employee in a business and like you, That's the situation. You find yourself in. I think you've already lost right like and no matter what your walk of life is what you do for work like we we've all been in situations. Really? I hope I don't I wonder if I if I get called in. What do I have to say? What's the excuse? What do I try and figure out? How do I save my, But how do I look forward? How do I shine this up right? Like if that's the case with Matt Naggy and Ryan pays We've all lost. We've already lost. So I feel as if the worst case scenario would be George McCaskey entered this week and remember, I'm I'm saying into the week as in Monday, so you saw what took place on Sunday. And you saw the bear's not be competitive in a wild card playoff game. I wonder. If he entered this week with pause and then the thought of how do I go forward, trying to figure out whether or not these two should be back? If that's the case, I think that's the worst case scenario. Extensions. Oh, man, if we're extending guys for not advancing in the playoffs, that's pathetic. Well, look, I'm not saying that they should. But think about it right When you get a quarterback. How long does it take for you to see whether or not you have like They're not firing. Guys on the Dolphins and saying, Oh, well to it didn't get it in a game. So sorry. He's just a Boston. That's it. Gave Travis Key 3.5 years. And you can't just you're gonna ruin quarterbacks faster than you're going to see whether or not they can. They can succeed. If after a year like, Let's say they draft a quarterback right? Doesn't work out. They're not very good, or they're the same there. Eight Nate again. Let's say they missed the playoffs. You're firing pace and firing naggy and bringing in a new coaching staff with quarterback you just drafted. You're gonna ruin the kid. So you have to have some alignment. I'm not saying these guys should be aligned. I want I want new blood. I want a new coach. I want a new GM. I want someone who's competent in working with quarterbacks to come in and get this right. That's that would be what you would do you would align yourself with you would make sure your coaching your GM are aligned with same deal and they end expire at the same time. And then you and then you draft a quarterback because we know Mitch in it, And we know fools isn't good enough to start damn waiter from the Chicago Tribune. He was on model and Sylvie earlier today, and he has said that he's hearing that people at Palace Hall are unsure. Of what the future is What the direction is. This is day two of meetings at house all between the front office ownership and the coaching staff. Brad Biggs about 5 15. Tonight, he tweeted out one way to view the silence from the Bears after two days of meetings at Halas Hall. Is that the team is leaving no stone unturned in the evaluation of the entire football operation. He also continued with this tweet brag, Biggs another way to view this situation. Nearly 48 hours removed from a playoff exit is that the franchise is unprepared to navigate through the complexities of a decision that will chart the course moving forward into the off season. And I think that's where I get to this worst case scenario. Is like if the Bears organization didn't think of any of this until Monday. That to me is a problem. You and I. We're hosting a show here on this station in this time slot earlier this fall. I would guess it was probably early November, where we listed off the best available jobs. Assuming that there were going to be openings. We pointed to the Chargers, we pointed to the Jets. We pointed to the Jags, we pointed. It's all these different places and we said, You know if Matt Maggie's not the guy There are going to be better situations out there to find your head coach. We had her eyes on the prize back then, early November, we we we saw coming so if the Bears were waiting until Monday Get this ball rolling. I'm trying to figure out whether or not not Maggie Ryan, patient return. That to me is a major problem. Mike in Hoffman Estates here on ESPN 1000. What's up, Mike? What's going on, guys, So I kind of agree with what you're saying with. I mean, if this would have been done with the firing of that, Maggie, it would have been done right after the game or today, so I know that's a short timetable. But if your dad is on your mind that Hey, We win. This game will probably keep him if we lose this wild card game. You have to think before..

"It starts at the top. This is a organizational flaw that's been going on from even before Ryan Pace was here, and even before Matt Maggie was here, but now they're part of the issue one when everyone real quick, real quick, remember when everyone's screaming What? You screwed it up, because you didn't you took Mitch out when you put him back in and now you're playing to his strengths. Now you're playing to his strengths against better teams. And what are you? What are you here? We're hoping for the higher ceiling of fools. That's what they were hoping for. It obviously did not materialize. I want to play you later. We've got conflicting reports on Mitch. I keep getting text from friends. What's Mitch is Situation as far as coming back a play that in a bit run, and Harvey, you're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Ron? I got it. I think you guys are all talking exactly about what I've been saying to myself all this year watching we do the exact same offense, which has been nothing but weak. It's the beginning of time, and you've never ever changed that We've never made these passes beyond beyond the first down mark for a first down. I mean, we're passion behind that that line and expecting the receiver to make up that first down every single time, and it just just seem like we're wherever gaining any traction because we've never changed the format. It works when you're throwing it to Tyree, Kill one. You are behind the line of scrimmage right here. I'm being serious. Yeah, I'm not gonna get a wise ass. I'm just saying like that's their reference point. Like, Well, it works over here. Why isn't it working for us? And that's one time and you guys, you know, like, I just can't figure out it's the same thing on the third and long. Why don't we go just to make that first down and not go be on that? God forbid, if we have a turnover that's 30 yards downfield. What would be the what? We I I understand that we're playing to another team's defense, and we're not that strong, but Wow. It's like a 50 50 toss up. It just seems like we're always we're always selling ourselves short. Not taking those chances. Run it is. I mean, you're right. It's frustrating as hell. So if you or someone that wants to see Mitch, come back here. And Matt is back with him. You're going to get more of the same so like, if you that's it. Yes. If you want to see more, Mitch, you're better off with a different coach. Now, they may open things up and let Mitch let her rip. He may throw 25 interceptions. I just don't want more. Mitch. I don't want more. Nagy. I don't want more pace. I don't want more. Ted Phillips. It's a collaborative thing. I want to play you This going into what He just said Chris, if you can get me the Rome Oh, situation late in the game later in the game. I think this was towards the end of the third quarter. He's they were off yesterday. You know, he's a home. He had a little bit of an energy rolled to. They were talking over each other, but he did point this out regarding Mitch and about the constant checking down. These are the place you want..

"If The general manager Ryan Pace, and Matt Maggie might have been out of jobs had they not 13 of their last four in the regular season to get into the playoffs. Don't know if that was good for them a bad for them. 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Evan is in Florida. Welcome to after hours. Amy Luminous. Wow. What a great What a great opportunity to be in your presence on the telephone. How were you? First and foremost your insurance? Absolutely fantastic. Thank you, sir. I'm good. All right, I buttered you up enough. I have to questions and, uh, two of two statements in the question. Um, the number one statement is a legit legit statement. The other one's a little bit more of a conspiracy theory. The first one is with Cam Newton. He lost the last seven games. I believe this season and 20, maybe 17 and going into 2019. Whatever it is. He lost the last the last of his time with the Panthers. He lost nine games in a row before he was replaced. And it we're looking at Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger seems to be headed towards the same type of trajectory of if he even gets the chance to lose nine games, because right now, I believe it's like I've I mean, and the other thing is, is the state's game and I want to hear your take on that, obviously, and then the same game. That touched them at the end of the game. That was those Jimmy Graham. They didn't kick the extra point and for people that were betting on that game That on that point spread was from 10 to 11. And they kicked that extra point. We're talking about a push. So that was a very potentially expensive extra point. And we please actually produce about that. I have to hang up and just put me on mute so I could listen to you. Yeah, I'm sure he can hear you. Thanks, Evan for the phone call s so I don't know anything about betting line, So I'll leave that to you. Um, but But I will say this about about what you started with, which was quarterback wins and losses. I actually hate that stat. I think it's ridiculous. The the quarterback does not win and lose games all by himself. With Cam Newton. There were big time injuries, obviously, before the Panthers not only put him on I R and put it on the shelf for the rest of the way. But then Ron Rivera got comfortable with Kyle Allen and decided that he wouldn't go back to T O Cam Newton. Maybe because they already knew that the Panthers were going toe look a different direction, and obviously, Ron Rivera lost his job before they became his decision. As for Ben, Rafa's burger, this team started out 11 and Oh, and I don't I'm not saying he's completely absolved of any responsibility and he would tell you he takes on the blame himself. But this isn't all on Rafa's burger. They had zero run game and I mean, zero run game to speak of. None on so he was setting a playoff record for most pass attempts and most completions on I know they were behind, so it's a little bit of a different game, but that's what they've been doing all season long is nothing but passing the ball, passing the ball. Passing. The ball is too much to ask for an older quarterback, and it's not a balanced offense. It all and it makes it a lot easier for defense is to game plan against so they need to shore up their run game. They obviously need to fix the offensive line, eh? So there's a lot of issues there. I think the defense, isn't it. Spot. But the offense needs an overhaul. And while it may or may not include Rafa's burger, moving forward, I don't think I'm of the opinion that the man can't throw the ball anymore. He passed for 500 yards in this game, so they just need to not have such a lopsided offense. To me. That's the major issue. And then, of course, the turnovers early. You know, the defense got smacked in the mouth, too, though in that first quarter, with Karim Hunt, being able T scored two touchdowns in his first two Times touching the ball, So they got outplayed and out, really outplayed, outcoached and manhandled in every facet of this game early on, and just put themselves in too big of a whole. To come out of. So we're going to talk about the other. A F C North team here is we start the top of the hour. Ravens beating the Titans exacting some revenge. We've got our matchups for a divisional weekend..

"Told and also rich. He's taken much more of a heavier hand in play calling, which is help them down the stretch. Have your hand then what you have before you said lasers off How heavier you mean lasers out? He never gave up anything. It was a problem. It is so He had to take the credit after the three game winning streak. Here you go. Here's how this works right? Like guys like Ian Rappaport. Maybe he's going to get next year. At some point. I'm going to give you the scoop on what's happening with Matt Maggie. But in return for that, I need you to report that He's calling the plays now that the Bears are on a winning streak, and he's doing real well, and Ian Rappaport says, Okay, done Deal got little slut a slide in there that Matt Maggie's calling the plays now that Mitch looks better in the running games working and you guys are winning games. How would you measure the media in this town on the Bears? Eyes. What you say It's tepid. Would you say it's hot? That red hot I would say That's a great question, Jonathan because because because red hot would mean like once that out Correct that that was red hot like because whoever is gonna replace Dick. It was never going to good enough. That's just the way nothing is Dave. It's just that you replaced a legend. It's going to be tough to be able to replicate.
