"Five, Packer said. Coach Matt LeFlore said wide receiver Davante Adams is quote probably doubtful. Or Sunday night's game against the Saints. Green Bay, of course, did not bolster their receiving corps this offseason, which leaves Alan Lazard and Marquez Valdas scant ling as their starting 10. 10. Times Fast. Marquez fell down. His name is Mark Quests. Mark Wehz, Valdas Skin now saying quickly, like 10 times in a row as quick as you Can mark was Valda scanning Marquis Valda, scaling more quest that that's a got like three. That you're going to drop a curse Word like Conrad in Milwaukee last night. So they have Lazard and scant Ling. About that. Scantly Bell does gambling and on the opposite side of the field. Michael Thomas will miss the game for the Saints. We all saw how much Drew Brees struggle without him last week, so on cider offside. We all know how great Michael Thomas is. But Davante Adams is actually more valuable to his team than Michael Thomas offsides. And here's the reason why I think both these teams are similar in terms of their weapons. When you look at Kamara and Jones When you see Adams and Thomas, there are comparisons to make Yes, Emmanuel Sanders, the better number two than Lazard and Mark was about this can leave the manual. Sanders has not been a great It's only two games, though. I think he's going to be a solid player for them. I look at which quarterback I trust more and I just Rogers right now, more than breeze, So I believe that Thomas because of Bree's not being at what he wants. Wass is more valuable to his team and just look at it after one week of not having him The Saints go from beating the bucks. Watch out for the Saints, even the breeze in and play all that great in the game. Then they don't have Thomas Breeze.
Bob McGinn: Packers have ‘had enough’ of Aaron Rodgers’ act
"Bomb again covered the packers for thirty eight years and hit some interesting insights on why. Green Bay could have drafted quarterback Jordan. Love Begin writes that Matt. Leflore may have drafted another qb because he quote simply had enough of Aaron Rodgers Act. Mcginn continued saying the packers wouldn't want Rogers to quote become even more difficult to
Super Bowl Bound: 49ers and Chiefs
"Did bill. We made it to the Super Bowl. You me and Jimmy Garoppolo. I feel I I may have sweat more watching the NFC championship game. That Jimmy Garoppolo actually swept playing being in the NFC championship game. Bill Barnwell is a senior football writer at ESPN and the host of the bill. Barnwell show so after two weeks Of Extremely Exciting Football Championship weekend did not disappoint niners and chiefs fans disappointed pretty much everyone else or at least anyone who wanted close close games both favorites dominated so let's start with the most dominant team the San Francisco Forty niners bill win the niners packers met earlier earlier. This season. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career threw for one hundred and four yards. Tonight he threw for three hundred twenty six yards But the result wasn't much better. Why is that okay? So the first time these two teams played the niners won with an absolutely dominant. Pash Josh Rush Nick. Bosa and his teammates knocked down Aaron Rodgers ten times on Sunday. The only knockdown Aaron Rogers twice and while they did hold them without a first down conversion in the first half both of those games the packers movable pretty consistently I should say after after halftime instead the forty niners otherworldly in a different way on Sunday they ran the ball forty two times for two hundred eighty five yards and four. We're touchdowns averaging nearly seven yards per carry to put that in context. ESPN has a stat called expected. Points with measures how each play impacts team's James Chances of scoring on a given the forty niners racked up the second most rushing. EPA for any team in a game this season and and the most for any single team in a playoff game over the last decade just narrowly beating out the prior record holder. which just happened to be the forty niners? Twenty wanting twelve playoff win over. The Green Bay Packers would Colin Kaepernick. Ran For one hundred. Eighty one rushing yards. So they're leading rusher tonight. I was not Colin Kaepernick. It was re Moster who ran for two hundred and twenty yards by himself. were good has hat trick the first half of the NFC championship game deserves a hat trick of field grade baby bill. Will I am guessing. A decent amount of football fans hadn't heard Ramos before tonight. Okay so you mustard is basically it accident accident in football terms but it's such a cool story so the Shanahan offense has a history of unearthing obscure running back and turning them into stars going back to Mike Shanahan stays in Denver but even among those backs most particularly remarkable case. Liners did everything they could to find a different running back over the past a couple of years. They hand picked a runner who they traded up to nab in the two thousand seventeen draft never played a game for the team. They signed Jerick McKinnon Torres. ACL He's collected more than and twenty one million dollars for the niners without ever playing a single game for the team. This offseason they added. Kevin Coleman from the Falcons who suffered an injury in the first half and that opened up the door from western and most of its story is easy to root for. You heard him talk about it. After the biggest game of his life on Sunday crazy that I've been on seven. Different teams actually still have cut dates every before every game a look at the dates when I got cut not everybody can can deal. Would that type of stressing the pain and agony I went through. I kept the faith to not only myself but whoever gave me the opportunity is organization has done a great job most are made the niners roster as a special teamer at first but after he looked good in limited time last season they gave him a three year extension after playing. Well this season most are just became the first running back. NFL history to top two hundred rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in a single game. That's never happened in the playoffs playoffs before pretty good for a guy who was really an afterthought until the two thousand eighteen season. What's just remarkable? Bill is those two hundred twenty rushing yards. Were nearly three times as many yards as Garoppolo the night as quarterback past for which made for a remarkable stat sheet. There was a point in this football game where according to ESPN stats and Info. Jimmy went ninety four minutes in real time without attempting a pass so I have to ask going into the Super Bowl. Is that a sustainable offensive approach. I mean we all had that friend and in our twenties who got by succeeded solely because they were good looking right now that friend is Jimmy. Garoppolo I mean in the divisional round. He barely through through the football in the conference championship game. He barely through the football. We saw a similar situation with Ryan. Tannehill right over the first two weeks of his post. The season and when Tennessee ran into an offensive juggernaut with the chiefs their offense with Danny Hillis not able to accelerate into a higher gear. Now of course Garoppolo is the one who has to face the chiefs unless the forty niners can shut down the Kansas City. Passing game with their pass rush which isn't out of the question they're going to need to throw the football more quite a bit more. We've seen the niners succeed in games or Garoppolo and to throw the ball at ton with the Saints Win. Maybe as a notable for example but since Garoppolo through that interception against the Vikings in the divisional round cow Shanahan has called seventy one runs against just twelve passes passes even if the niners do end up throwing the ball effectively against the chiefs. It's clear that Shanahan doesn't WANNA put the game on Garoppolo shoulders unless absolutely necessary and that in itself is telling throughout the game bill packers fans were frustrated. Understand police and they seem to be taking out some of their wrath on the coaches arguing. They should have devised better game. Plans to both run the ball more and stop the run and do you think there's anything that Matt Leflore or the Packers Defensive Coordinator Mike Patton could have done differently in this game. Yeah I think so I think to be fair. Shanahan might just ask pedants number. It just felt like you is several steps ahead of the packers defensive coordinator and when pen and tried to adjust it just never seemed to catch up and work there. There was one play I think in the second quarter was a microcosm of everything that went wrong for the packers in this game. They came out in their nickle package with five defensive backs against the forty niners base. He's too back offense which created the size mismatch. The niners pitched the Baltimore and not only did he have a huge hole but he made both safeties with on their tackle attempts downfield win for about thirty yards. pedants struggled to put his players in positions where they could succeed and meanwhile leflore didn't coach like a guy who was a seven point underdog. The packers punted. I believe on their first drive on fourth and one from the fifty yard line. We know the packers are enormously more effective offense with Aaron Aaron Jones on the field but the floor still Jamal Williams their backup running back. Play over thirty percent of the offensive snaps and he didn't really take advantage of move the niners movement Richard Sherman. That was really fascinating during the regular season for the niners and during the vast majority of his time in Seattle Sherman signed up for almost every every snap asked the left cornerback. Defense playing against the right side of the offense. The niners started the game on Sunday. Which chairman on the opposite side of the field on the right side of the defense on the left side of the offense against devante items and while Sharon didn't travel to the left side very frequently? He did do it a few times during the first half. The second half Adams was able to be isolated Sherman over the top for a huge play downfield. I think that played about half of his snaps on either side of the field. I would have liked to have seen for trying to isolate him against German a little more often and take his chances with

Let's get into talking about this game <hes> because listen i don't think we were expecting a shootout greg but no one expected game at this level and we could dissect <hes> how poorly the bears played but give it up for the packers defense which balled out right here lots of people had great. He loves having five six defensive backs. They're not going to dominate like this every week but you could just see aaron rodgers after the game. How happy is that. He's going to have a difference making defense and i think they can be a top seven the eight ten defense all season. I don't think there's a fluke. I mean i i think part of it is the offense you play tonight in chicago. That seems like a work in progress and you know a lot of those players did not operate great in the preseason and airy measured compared to what you were saying during well. No i mean i i would say this. I leave your credit because i think mike patton you. You got some with these games back. When he was cleveland coach in the one good season they had and when he was the jets coach when he started his court kind of feel himself in the second quarter with this defense they got aggressive and they took chances and they were able to against the bears offense it in the second half. I'll never forget this drive where it's one points i and forty then it's second and forty than its third and forty and i you know for all the people who want to tug mitch trubisky into this conversation a franchise quarterback. I've not seen someone with that. Label look has lost consistently on third down as he did tonight. There seemed to be no plan for this offense or he could not pull them out of the trouble. They got into and it's going to be a long week for him. I know logically not to overreact two week. One especially after the quarterback didn't play in the preseason but there is a there's a feeling of collaboration just throwing mitch trubisky by the way so this is the big breaking news the midway through the
Aaron Rodgers 'Glad' Packers' Joint Practices with Texans Over
"Go to the n._f._l. Let's start this in green bay. Packers and new head coach matt leflore and aaron rodgers not on the same page early in camp. The coach likes can't likes camp likes working out with other teams. Here's what aaron rodgers said said about doing a joint practice with texans. I wouldn't mind if they didn't do it for another fourteen years and then he said that the offensive work is of great value because schematically. There's not a lot there and he doesn't like the risk of injury. Is this just one of those things or is this a real problem between rogers and the floor. Take it or shake it. Take it real problems. Take take take it though she sleep but i think when you think when you think about what i said the other day about out joint practices. It's a no no. No one wants to do that but coaches then only ones you. There's there's nothing to gain from it. The iran tell you 'cause. Let's coaches are stupid. He just do stuff. They just day or stupid. I told you this the other day and raja's comes out and basically backs up exactly exactly what i'll say it. No one wants to do that. You risk injury. It's going to be a power struggle in math going to have to cave in or else. He's going to get fire yeah. I was just gonna say if you're a brand new head coach jay first time head coach and all of a sudden you gotta go coach your first team as the head guy that's one thing you've got to be the head coach of the green bay packers with a hall of fame quarterback. Who's in the meat prime of his career. That's a totally different thing different. Yeah it's different because ann rogers is also different. He's so cerebral. "So I think there are a factor in a very tough division in Green Bay back to back losing seasons for Rogers, all of the stuff. We just talked about with a new head coach six nine and one season ago. What are their chances of winning the division? I think dang, I'm not a text message. We talked to Matt leflore said he is going to let Aaron audible is going to happen. And so on putting them at thirty five percent here and the reason is they have a great quarterback. When you have a great quarterback you can win a lot of football games. The other thing that they have that I think is, is going to surprise people then have a ton of talent on their defense and Mike Patton who's a defensive coordinator. I think we'll do a good job with the guys that they've added. I think they have one of the best young corners in the game. And so, I think defensively, the Packers are going to be strong, which they haven't been really for the past probably three years, or so that pass rushers. They add in free agency the safety. They. Drafted savage out of Maryland. Was in Maryland. Yeah, they're very happy with him. Obviously, they, I think it's I'm giving them twenty four a little better than the lions. What again, I have this division very, very close. I think everybody's got a chance at it. I think rebates got a chance at it or pod short already exactly what one hundred parental. I think they're definitely in the mix just, you know I like the other teams a little bit better. No, no spoilers. Yeah. In minnesota. It was a high pressure year and they really kinda sunk. Eight seven and one. What's the percentage chance they get it right this year? Well, I'm going to give them a twenty five percent chance of getting a right this year. I actually think Kirk cousins is better probably than most people think that Kirk cousins is I think he's good enough to to quarterback a team a division title. I also think there's a lot of talent around that team. You know you'll get a receivers running back tight ends and then defensively. Mike Zimmer is always going to do a good job with the defense. You know you look at the beginning of last year, wasn't great, and then he righted the ship. And so I think that I think we'll be a competitive team. I think they'll be in the hunt, but I'm a twenty five percent. Yeah, I, I got I like them a little better than in the hunt, actually, if anybody can do a little quick math. That makes them my favorite to win this division by little. I agree with you on cousins, I think return to full health for Delvin cook running back as. Very very important thing for this offense. Obviously the offensive line and the protection of the quarterback has been a problem there for a number of years. I think they worked on that a little bit in the draft. And I think cook helps with that. So, and yes, of course, Mike Zimmer defense, you can almost always trust bears twelve and four seven and one at home. I really impressed with the job. Matt Nagy, Dan. Obviously some challenges for that team. Now when you look at, you know, you lose your defensive coordinator, Chuck Pagano, the new defense coordinator clearly talent on that defense. I think he'll do a good job with them. But, you know, recreating the whatever it was thirty something takeaways that they had a year ago. I think it will be difficult. I do think the offense improves this thing this ends up being a tough division, so a twelve and fourteen giving them the same percentages six nine and one team it really just comes down to kind of the development of Mitchell Trubisky. And I think the fact that he's in a division with other teams in a quarterback named Aaron Rodgers. I want to ask him out there and if the defense is a little bit worse you change defensive coordinator, dick van. Oh gets a head coaching job, if they are a little bit. Worse is Trubisky. Good enough to win games on his own. I think he is because his athleticism has shown through, when it's been remarkable, and then got Matt Nagy has also learned a little bit more about Mitchell Trubisky in some of the situations that he can put them in Matt..

"I kind of agree with what you're saying before, is a tremendous coach, and he details oriented, he's worked with superstars before you had Matt Ryan, twenty sixteen now Ryan's different personality than Rogers think that's were people's eyebrows, might raise a little from what I gather feel. The Packers had a choice between Josh mcdaniels. Matt leflore and mcdaniels has worked with obviously with the greatest superstar. All he knows how to handle that kind of environment, and yet, they still chose leflore. So they, they must be extremely high on what he can bring in probably even to a certain degree out there. I don't know would you ever hire a coach for? His upside, which do that. If you have a guy like Rogers under center right now, you know something Indy. I think when I realized that these coaching searches and having talked to guys who had been through it and become NFL coaches, or coaches, that I think one day will be in the mix for head coaching jobs. His they realized their application for lack of a better term for the job is not just should not just be about what they have done Xs and os wise and, and sort of what production. They've generated of players in old systems or in previous ten years. It's about their ability to kind of everything else, which is managed fifty three personalities be liaison between coaches and players management and players, the business side. There's a lot more to it. And I thought that the fact that the Packers were the first team to hire their head coach this off season was telling no I understand they had a bit of a head start because they fired Mike McCarthy before the season was over at the same time many if. Not most of their candidates were coaches that we're not able to interview until the end of the regular season. So I thought this, this coaching hire was pretty telling about how competent they are in Matt leflore my pick. For most intriguing coaching hire is cliff Kingsbury. And I'm sure this, I, I would imagine this might be like the most popular answer. If we pulled it to the masses, but let me give different twist. Get to the obvious stuff in a minute. But I asked myself this question I almost should have put into a research test is I wonder has there ever been a college head coach who was fired and subsequently landed in NFL, head coaching job with the caveat that the guy was not fired because he was going to take an NFL head coaching job. Like, yeah, it's, it's really. I mean clippings Barry was fired from his al-madhur of all places where he's not the most iconic player in, in Texas history. But he's certainly one of the beloved members of the Royal family of Texas Tech football and, and that's not to say that he doesn't deserve this job in Zona. It's just such an unique path relative to where we see so many other head coaching hires now beyond that Andy, he goes to Amazon aware. I don't wanna say deferential, but we know that Steve was influential in the role he played in terms of hiring the defensive staff. Obviously, steve. Time is going to handle a lot of the heavy lifting with the roster and people are talking about a lot of the concepts that cliff Kingsbury is going to bring from Texas Tech to the NFL, and I'm not saying that there won't be a lot that will rear themselves Andy..

"He is Green Bay Packers coach, Matt leflore. All right. We are very excited to have a new head coach the new head coach of the Green Bay Packers. Matt leflore, welcome to the around the NFL podcast. We like to take it off little rave music. Does this match your sensiti as a man at all? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, right off the bat, you are a rookie head coach rookie mistake, you show up your very dressed up for the owners meetings. Andy Reid we had here last year. And he wore like, an open Hawaiian shirt and tax shores. You are well dressed are you going to rectify that in the future or you're gonna show up other coaches by being the best dressed coach at owners meetings angle here. Jason Waller's definitely set me up for for this. It's all his fault Packers PR. Gotcha there. So all right here, we go. You have a great history with football. But it all started with the Omaha beef that national. Take us through your time with the beef. That was very very very interesting experience now at leaguer, they in I don't even know if the leaks exist it is was indoor football league. That's correct the NFL and you're the quarterback. Yeah. It was more of the backup. But I got an a few opportunities to go in there. And it's run around. What's the uniform? Look like when you're the Omaha beef. What was the color breaks can orange? Remember that lady Gaga address you the Grammy's like five years ago? It was just all meet. Maybe something like that. I did have the roasters as the. Now, you're in a slightly more high profile position as Aaron Rodgers head coached. I mean is that Rogers a living legend essentially in Green Bay in one of the greatest quarterbacks ever is. Is there any level of intimidation walking into the job when Aaron Rodgers is the guy now more excitement, I mean to have a guy to has that ability. I mean, these jobs just don't come open. So I'm very excited to get that opportunity to work with them when you become like the Green Bay Packers head coach, do you? Suddenly have like is your phone blown-up legs. Brett farve reaching out to you sane. Welcome town and stuff or or far. I'm still waiting on that one. On the phone when you watch go back and watch what Aaron Rodgers did last year. Do you see a guy you're still confident? I've got the best quarterback in the NFL. His he's certainly got all the talent. And I just again it's looking forward to that opportunity to really sit down and get into the football component. And you know, try to teach him our system you have some history with quality quarterbacks your QB. Coach of Matt Ryan is VP ear Jared Goff, Marcus mariota. And now Rogers you've had pretty good luck. Or you've been surrounded by some really high level quarterback town, but really nothing at this level. I mean is Rogers type of guy, and I know last year was a big disappointment for everyone about, but as Rogers type guy like anything's possible because we have that guy in the building. Yeah. You feel really confident with when you got a guy that of that caliber at that position..

Some of the other issues subsiding a little bit. Although the one up the road to me in Pittsburgh continues to bubble up via social media. We'll talk about that coming up talk about a coordinator change in Florida that could shape the quarterback movement in the next two months and in less than two months. The free agency market will indeed open, but the focal point the conference championship games. The first injury reports came out yesterday. Remember, I said on Monday, maybe also on Tuesday, we need to watch the Wednesday report from the chiefs to see if there's any hint of any issue any problem with chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He had that scary moment on Saturday against the colts. He came up limping a little bit. It looked like that knee wanted to buckle. He's not on the report at all not mentioned in any way, shape or form, which means he's not injured because at a minimum. What would you expect to see is that he fully participated in practice with the knee injury disclosed that would mean he's received some sort of treatment? That's how it gets disclosed. When it doesn't affect your practice wraps. Why's it on their? Well, it's on there because there is an injury that he's getting treatment for but it's not affecting his practice. Not even that. It's not even to that level. It's not even the minimum level of disclosure. He's fine, no treatment. No, limitations. Patrick Mahomes was fine. On wednesday. The patriots only have one name on their injury report. I assume it's Deatrich wise because he missed the the Sunday game against the charge. And he was the only guy on the report when they went into that weekend. The saints have a few guys who missed practice to who missed and three were limited three offense lineman limited Keith Kirkwood who caught the first touchdown against Philadelphia missed practice along. With Benjamin Watson veteran tight end. Who's pulling the train into the station for the Rams there were no injuries reported at all very rare that you see a clean sheet on a Wednesday. Now, they had a through. But still when you have a walk-through, they give you an estimation of what the actual limitations or missed practices would be nobody missed nobody limited and that was significant because Todd Gurley supposedly was going to be limited this week in practice. Sean McVay said so and then when the report comes out, no injuries listed, and that means. Girlies knees fine. He didn't even get a full participation knee. He's not getting treatment. He's fine. Now, it could flare up again. And that's the thing about this need that flared up a few weeks ago and flared up in week one without any specific injury or trauma to it. It could swell. It could become stiff it could be a problem. That's the knee in which he had a tornado at Georgia. But that's something that for now, not an issue at all. And that's great news for the Rams between girly and C J Anderson. One two punch in the backfield that we're ready to go when they head down to the Superdome. It was seventeen years ago when they played the patriots in the Superdome in Super Bowl thirty six now the returned to the Superdome for birth in what would be their first Super Bowl appearance since then. That was the first one the patriots won. And that was at a time when nobody really expected the patriots when they were huge underdogs. They were underdogs to get there. They had won the snow globe game at home against the raiders. And they went to Pittsburgh, and they beat the Steelers and the Rams were still the greatest show offs on turf. And. The patriots. Remember, they was the first time that a team was introduced to as a team like what is this and how we don't have individual introductions anymore at the Super Bowl because they all want to be introduced as a team because it worked for the patriots. And what else is going to work for the patriots is this notion that they're the underdogs that no one believes in everybody thinks we suck Tom Brady said after Trump's thing the chargers on Sunday Brady was asked by reporters on Wednesday for his reaction to being an underdog in the conference championship game. I don't think about it too much. People might say or think, but it's a very good football team. Yeah. You buy that? No, I'm not buying it. Because we know they're trying to make an issue out of it. Of course, I'm not buying. I don't buy anything. Anyone says they're trying to make an issue out of it. They just don't want to overdo it publicly. And I think he knows that they have found the sweet spot within the locker room to convince everyone that it's us against them. If they talk too much about it publicly, then it'll be too much evidence in ammunition out there for people to say, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. This is all crap is all Bs. Who's out there that doesn't believe in the patriots? Everybody believes in the patriots. Everybody knows that the patriots can win. Everybody has seen the patriots. When now there are a lot of people who sick at the patriots. And would like to see them lose. They don't want them in the Super Bowl. We had a poll earlier this week that had nearly forty thousand votes, and there was a huge gap in the four permutations that can happen for the Super Bowl. Chiefs. Saints chiefs Rams both near forty percent. Patriots. Saints patriots Rams down in single digits for patriots. Rams. Nobody wants the rematch of Super Bowl thirty six except for maybe some some people connected to the Rams because they're already talking about the cheating of the patriots. And how they cheated allegedly practice who both thirty six when they take the walkthrough practice of the Rams. So they knew everything the Rams were going to do remember that bubbled up right before Super Bowl forty two. The Boston Herald had that big report on the Friday before the game. And as legend has it. The patriots ended up wasting a ton of time that Friday and Saturday meeting with the league the league had to get to the bottom of that rabbit hole. Right. Then as the patriots are trying to go nineteen and the patriots have never used it as an excuse. But that's a hell of a distraction have dropped onto your team. Two days before Super Bowl. Boston Herald eventually attracted to, but there are still people who believe that. There was cheating Marshall Faulk still believes it. Kurt Warner talks about it from time to time dick for meal, and Eric Dickerson have talked about it. More recently. So. That rematch. I think would be intriguing if it were to happen. We'd hear a thing or two about Rams patriots cheating by the patriots allegedly retracted by the Boston Herald, I don't wanna get sued this morning or within the statute of limitations period. That would be triggered by any defamatory statements made this morning somebody made a comment on Twitter last night that I think makes sense all the players who have passed through all the coaches who have passed through New England over the years, if there was some type of institutional cheating wouldn't somebody have said something by now. Wouldn't there be? Just some cleansing of the soul. Wouldn't somebody have said this is what they did? This is what we did. This is what I did you'd like to thank somebody hundreds of names. And I'm sure that there are people who left on bad terms. There was the one guy what was his name Matt wall. So that was the only one and that was the one that the herald talk to and then. Then that all went away. And it was retracted that was bad for the herald. It was it was almost so bad that like the patriots were just gonna own the herald like just hand over the keys. That's it. Jillian element has posted tweets of a bet against us t shirt the words hashtag bet against us. Or inside of the Pat patriot the flying Elvis logo not that good logo the logo. They've used for the last twenty five years or so they had that logo somewhere between twenty they had the old. Pat patriot. Getting ready to snap the ball at some point. They switched to that flying Elvis. I think early nineties. That's the logo shape. It's got better against us inside of it. The weather's going to be an issue.

"To curly. Lambeau Vince Lombardi Mike Holmgren, Mike McCarthy. And now we have thirty nine year old Matt leflore four years older than his starting quarterback. The Tennessee titans. Offensive coordinator who presided over an offense that finished twenty fifth in the NFL this season in total yards. But this year the cycle is pushing and pushing and pushing offense coaches Matt leflore has the connection to Sean McVeigh. If you can't get Sean McVeigh you may as well. Get the next best thing somebody who once worked with him. So I guess I'm not surprised, but it's going to be very intriguing to see if this works in Green Bay, Peter. I'm a little surprised, Mike. I am. I'm probably a little surprised because. It was almost like Matt leflore had a little bit more going for him before he went to Tennessee. That was not a great year. He had in Tennessee sin. Okay here. But as you say, they weren't ranked very well in the in the numbers category. He really didn't get Marcus mariota to play significantly better than he had played. And I think the one other part of this even though. Clearly, he's got a very good pedigree east coach with some very good coaches with Kyle Shanahan look at his stretch in Washington. They're learned a lot from Kyle and Mike Shanahan had a good run with. With Matt Ryan and Atlanta gin with Kyle Shanahan. And I guess I look at this. And just say, listen, you know, this is all going to depend what can Matt leflore do with Aaron Rodgers. And also canny commander room. He's a little bit. You know, look, I don't know him. Well, I've talked to him twice in my life. Okay. So I don't I can't say that I know him supremely well, but he's really a little bit different than Sean McVeigh. Sean McVay is Mr. sunshine, Mr. on top of the world, and everything is an inspirational saying, and I'm going to get guys to play great. He's a little bit more in the in. I want to say he's Kyle Shanahan in terms of being salty. But he's a little less of a welcome wagon host, you know, then then Sean McVeigh, and I'm not saying that his personality is really gonna matter all that much. What I am saying is I think in order to do this. And I think that Brian Goudie. His done a good job so far as general manager. I think Mark Murphy knows exactly what they wanted. So I can't sit here and say it's a lousy higher in any way. I won't do that. It's just I was surprised. I thought personally I thought that they were going to get a little bit further down the road with a couple of other candidates including Josh mcdaniels. However, the fact that they hire him now says to me that the Green Bay Packers either feared or thought that he was going to get traction elsewhere. And if he's going to get traction elsewhere, we better get our guy now, and we were talking about that last hour on radio, Peter because one thing I know about it yesterday things happened very very quickly. It all came together very quickly, which tells me they did get the idea, and this is where the agents in their money because that's your job when you have a guy who is being considered by multiple teams. Your job is to create a sense of urgency. Even where one may not naturally be there and. The Packers got that idea in their heads. I believe that Matt leflore was going to be hired by someone else, and it's human nature. Right. If there's something that we're kind of ambition about, but somebody else wants it. And there's only one of those things the fact that someone else is showing interest naturally increases our own interest in makes us far less ambivalent about it. And it would be I guess funny. Maybe even a little sad. If good old fashioned scarcity mentality is what kicked in here when you consider that the Packers consciously and deliberately fired Mike McCarthy with weeks left in the regular season. So they would have maximum time to engage in a deliberate process. If something is crazy as oh, wait, you mean that other team wants this kid that we were kind of lukewarm about well, we're seeing a completely different light. Now, we better hire him. If it came down to that. I it that would be surprising. But maybe not because that is consistent with our own human nature. You're right, Mike. And and again, I think the important thing to realize when you look at a higher like this is not necessarily to base your opinion on just one thing. Because look, you know in the last three years he's been the quarterback coach in in Atlanta. When Matt Ryan won the MVP. He's been the offensive coordinator in Los Angeles. When Jared Goff began to emerge from his post, Jeff Fisher cocoon, and then this year, he got to call the place for the first time, you know, as consistently as an NFL coach when he called the plays for for the titans in Tennessee. My only point about all this is that, you know, now you enter into a situation where you're going to be asked to resuscitate, basically, a flagging offense and flagging franchise and a quarterback that appears from the outside, and we don't know this. We just don't know it quarterback from the outside who seemed to be really unhappy with the direction of this team. And with this offense last year, you could just tell by his body language. He's going to have to come in. And I think it's really important, Mike. He can't come in here and be on equal footing with Aaron Rodgers. You know, it's gotta be clearly understood I'm here to be the coach, and this is not a dictatorship in any way, shape or form. But in essence were not going to be Aaron Rodgers calling the plays in on this offense. I'm gonna call the plays. And you're gonna execute them. And I think. That is something that's really important. And again, I do not mean that in any way dictatorial because I wrote this year about the relationship between drew Brees, and Sean Payton and how it's almost equals. You know, Brees tells them here's the player plays. I want in many of them, you know, Peyton calls during the game. But Matla for is not there yet with Aaron Rodgers. He may never get there. I'm saying that Aaron Rodgers needs to be coached, and he needs to accept coaching and the Packers obviously have to be comfortable with the fact that flurry is going to be able to do that. And you've made a great point throughout this process. Peter that regardless of whether or not the Packers wanted to involve Aaron Rodgers from their perspective, the coaching candidates needed to communicate with Aaron Rodgers to have that conversation. Are you ready to accept coaching? Are you ready to work with me, and regardless of whether or not he would have said all the right things. If you have that conversation faced. Face. You can read the body language. Read the demeanor really getting idea and coaches have to be good readers of people. You get an idea whether or not he really means you get an idea whether or not you're gonna be able to work with this guy. You've encountered a lot of guys in your career as a football coach where does this guy fit? What kind of field you get from him? And hopefully, the Packers did that. And you look at the time line here. It did move fairly quickly. You know, we've got this this VAT with all these different candidates and names in interviews. Leflore just interviewed on Sunday and the Packers at the end of the day, they interviewed Jim Caldwell. Chuck Pagano, Josh mcdaniels Dan Campbell. It wasn't a huge list of guys. They lock onto the floor on Monday one day after they interviewed him. So it very well may be that. They just thought somebody else was going to hire this guy. And maybe he blew them away on Sunday. Maybe after they interviewed these other guys they realized this is our answer. This is the guy to carry us through the Aaron Rodgers years and beyond and and again, it's part of this push for. Offensive coaches and look at what's going on in Tennessee. Now, Peter Mike has been there a year and he's got to go hire a new offense coordinator, who's not gonna be able to talk to any of the players until April. That's why these teams are hiring offense of coaches, you hire a defensive coach if your team is halfway decent. You're gonna lose your offensive coordinator the next year, and you got to fill that hole. Yeah. Just reminds me of last year, you know, Mike when we were last year almost exactly at this time. I mean, it's amazing how fast this whole carousel turns because last year at this time. Indianapolis Colts were considering as one in one a very very close, Josh mcdaniels and Mike variable as their head coaches and the Tennessee titans really didn't know what they were going to do. But they did really like, Mike variable. Also, and you also consider what has happened with some of the domino effect coaches in this particular case, okay? And you consider Matla floor. You know, if if might've variable had gotten his wish and he had gotten to bring in his first choice. I think at the time as offense coordinator chose to stay at Ohio State and is now the head coach at Ohio State. But but anyway, my point is so many things have happened in the last year from not only just mcdaniels sort of falling out of the Indianapolis. Has derby. And obviously Frank right? Getting that job. But then Mike variable going to Tennessee being a success in his first year. But also redoing is offensive staff centered around Matt leflore and now he's got a co find another coach. So it's it's amazing. How fast it goes? And it's like I was told this a long time ago. I it was a kind of a Parcells ISM way back in the eighties. And he said, you not only all we have to have ready players who if you get injuries you're going to you're going to call on on your ready list. But you also have some coaches in the back of your mind, you don't talk about it publicly. But boy, if I ever lose Lamar Leach on the defensive line here. So I have in mind to I'd like to get to replace him. And so that I think has got to be the lesson. And I bet that Mike variable has thoughts in his. Mind about who he might higher. I keep thinking my that one of the great lessons in this is. Nothing is forever in the NFL. And now several teams are going to be affected. Obviously. By what the Green Bay Packers have just done time for a break. We have more to come here on the best approach. Football talk live on NBC sports radio. Greg.
"matt leflore" Discussed on Sports Talk 1050 WTKA
"They're like, why am I gonna listen to this, dude? Because none of the people that I reference Zac Taylor. Matt leflore cliff Kingsbury, Adam gays, Freddie kitchens. None of them have full control. Which makes it tough. It's tough when you don't have full control because you have to have the right guy for the job to be able to pull off being offensive minded head coach yet still captivating and capturing the whole football team. It's a very difficult skill. And I think Sean McVeigh has done that to some degree. But the fact that. Working your way through experience maybe having worked in scouting a little bit. And then gotten your break and coaching and really found your way as a coach and understanding the business of professional football. Your head coach has to have a grasp on that. And how many of these guys are just going to be trying to align? Their staff win over the players, install their offensive system to really be a part of or have a voice when it comes to scouting putting together the draft board. What do they really know about that business a football? See because what happens is when you get a new head coaching getting new general manager people get punch drunk with their ability to spend money. Let's make no mistake about it. The Cleveland Browns are going to go out and spend like drunken sailors now. So we'll the colts even though they made the playoffs. But a lot of these teams are going to go out, and they're going to spend money, Tom producer, Tom your big jets fan. Are you not? I am. Unfortunately, do you want them to go spend fifteen million dollars a year and bring in Latvian bell. I don't. Actually. Okay. And those are the kinds of moves the teams like these are going to really think long and hard about doing. Because all we gotta keep up with the Joneses. We gotta put together a group like Sean McVeigh has if we think this guy's are Sean McVay that we need to go out and get this that and the other. Maybe the Cleveland situation works out a little differently. Because Freddie kitchens is tied into Baker Mayfield. Now that also is another dangerous precedent to set. Here's the way, I view it. I think Baker Mayfield has that kind of personality where maybe he would go in and stump for Freddie, kitchens to be the head coach. And because he's got some stroke. And let's be honest now Cleveland is stunk for such a long time. Maybe they're like, okay. Why wouldn't we listen to this guy? Whereas, and Tom you told me if you think I'm wrong, but I think what the jets Sam darnold has approached this as okay, if you ask me, I'll tell you. I'm not gonna go stump for anybody necessarily. However, maybe here are my thoughts and let me help recruit other guys to come here in this situation. Like to me, it looks like in Cleveland the quarterback is dictating some terms whereas in New York the quarterback is hey, I'm here to help. And I'm here to. To be a part of the team not to be the one here to be the my Sean call all the shots. Am I wrong on that? Is that the way you view it as a jets fan? I agree. I think you're exactly right. But I'm not sure that it's based on their personalities. I think it's based on the fact that Baker found some real tangible success and energize that whole city, so he had the leverage to make a more of a push for his guy. Whereas Donald doesn't have a guy. And he was you know, he's not if you think so you think if darnold have had leverage he would he would exert on them more of his thoughts. That's interesting because because I like, I don't feel him as that kind of guy. Like, I can't like it terms of Adam gays. I could see them saying, hey, what do you think about that engaged in him going? Yeah. Okay. The may good. You know, we played them in Miami. I can work with this guy. He's done stuff with quarterbacks verses Sam darnold like kicking in maccagnan's Dohrn going. God dang it. You'd better hire. This will make your life miserable turnaround walked out. Of the room. Now, he's not doing that. Yeah. I don't I don't think so either. And then there is John Elway. What's the Denver Broncos who hires the old veteran coach in Vic Fangio and for me out? Oh by you, guys. But with Denver, it feels like whatever John LA does it's going to be wrong because he anybody can sign Peyton Manning. What he hasn't been able to find the right guy since? And to me, that's you know, with Denver. I'm skeptical. What they do because I don't know of John Elway can pick his nose. In Green Bay. I don't I don't get Matt leflore at all fours, bad coach. I just don't know that guys rate to be a leader of men and not just twenty five ban on offense. I'm talking about all fifty three and the guys on the practice squad. And then you had Tampa Bay. Now, the Tampa Bay situation, I think is a little different. And this is probably more prototypical NFL in that. I think Tampa is going to do a bridge deal with Jameis Winston because look the GM Jason light is still there. So that general manager is tied into that quarterback. And this is my total guests on this. And I haven't talked to anybody about it. But because the GM is still tied into the quarterback. The general manager found a coach who likes the quarterback coming out of college, and they can go to the owner and say look, or here's the reason why we know that Jamison Papa we know that he has a profile here in the state of Florida. We don't want to completely give up on him since he was such a high pick. Let's bring in this guy to make it work to me. It feels like Jason light. And then management group in Tampa was like, okay. This is the guy to give us our best chances. Do something with James swinson. If it doesn't happen all our asses or fired anyway. Quickly on Antonio Brown. If Mike Tomlin doesn't change the way he runs his locker room and set sets expectations for his players off of this latest with Antonio Brown. Then that's on him. And he will be fired at some even though his record is unbelievable. He can't continue to go about allowing the players do what they do say what they say think what they think he has the button up. He has the button up that operation. He's got a shutdown that ship a little bit and sort of reboot himself as a head coach and set different expectations for people in that organization and the way they conduct themselves, finally, boys. We have this. Apparently, Costco is selling a massive like plaster looking big plaster bucket full of macaroni and cheese that apparently will last twenty years. I tweeted this out at the real, gresh if you'd like to find it. I tweeted to my wife and said this last week in our house 'cause my kids love MAC and cheese. I think MAC and cheese is disgusting. I also think that peanut butter and jelly is gross too. So that makes me a little weird. But billy. I go to Billy. I because I would envision Billy sending on a Saturday night with a giant fork eating this MAC and cheese out of this plaster bucket watching that's basketball more like well. I mean, you got the nets basketball part, right, but more like an afternoon snack type of thing. Oh, interesting. I'm not sure how you think. It's disgusting. I mean, it's cooked noodles. Here's here's the problem with it, Billy. It's when it's like cooking or you heat it up in the microwave in you hear like when you stir it 'cause you know, you don't you? Sturdy heated up in the microwave. Right, right. And you hear the moist -ness of it all Yuk God. It makes me cringe. Do you like pasta? I do. However that process to me seems to be a little different because of the red sauce, and you need to cook it a little bit. So that it sticks to it like with MAC and cheese. It's just a bunch of noodles slander than cheese. Exactly. What's not to like about that? Hold on please overrated. I really only like mozzarella cheese and maybe a little bit of parmesan. But otherwise, I'm not a big cheese guy. So why don't you do MAC and cheese the Matz? What's the point? I just say if I'm gonna use much somebody's they'll pull them pizza on unnecessarily. You gotta get creative crush producer, Tom. Do you have an I do you have any thoughts on this year, MAC and cheese guy, especially getting a big value? Bucket of it at Costco. Absolutely, not if it's a really good MAC and cheese, like a manchego or a Fontana or something. Like that some interesting creamy. Jeez. Mix one thing but made in California. Powdered orange cheese that comes in a little oh. Now all four now. I'll tell you guy who have an opinion on MAC and cheese coming up. That's Jodi MAC up next on many of these same CBS sports radio stations. Good job by billion, Tom. Thank you, America. Got a little contentious today. I like that chiefs have a lead getting ready to head into halftime here. Keep an eye on that. And we'll talk about it.

"We'll talk a little bit about the NFL coaching care says you is you see these these coaching changes are happening. Quick fast in a hurry guys plan musical chairs and trying to get their position. As of the last time, I checked because every time I check Twitter seemed like there's another update, but we have one two three four five head coaches that have found jobs now Cleveland Browns. Freddie kitchens moved up from offer to tornado to talk about. Be the head coach. How are you feeling about that? When you got you got you got coach Williams win you four or five games. Okay. I mean, why how many gave you in a win four. They ended up seven when the end up seven eight and one I believe so. So you want four-game? Yeah. Ford. So would you four games? He has you playoff hunt in the last couple of weeks of the season. Yeah. And they were competing they were competing. No question and you fire him hired offers a coordinator like keep the dynamic the same. I think the problem with Greg Williams is his past. I think the things with the saints keeping from being the head coach. And I think that I think that it was more of Baker is is beggar. He wants his guy to be the guy any I he knew a Greg Williams. He wasn't. He wasn't villages. You can't play Greg Williams. Even gave too long been around too, many people, right? Six six coaching are filled. Six hundred forgot Green Bay on their Matt leflore. They sat out the Mattie leflore, former Texan quality control, Rollie control guy. He's not a kid ten years ago. Man. Oh, Mattie, leflore mas-. Good, dude, man. I'm happy for madman. I'm real I saw that we played Tennessee this year, man. And we ended up. I'm like do as I say word was freaky Phoebe dog grabs worry about what I'm worried about. You tell me anything already know, exactly. But he's still is the same guy that called a tight end tight end fullback drive with the title something like that. Oh. No, I if I'm the Packers fan the Packers faithful island know-how necessarily excited. I am excited tightened did this year. He's gonna take hooves offense the offense. He knows right. And that's what he's going to run with Aaron Rodgers, you gotta bet award Akron. That's a problem, especially if you're. I don't think the titans didn't run that scheme. No. Would they? I don't think they ran it. Because I don't think for one I don't believe that what's his name. Mariota mariota's not as accurate for one. No question about he's not because you in the system may coup brand, I'm using it. So I'm not question. You gotta be accurate quarterback. Especially with the play action pass inside outside zone pass and get the ball and for one. I just I don't think they were. I don't think that team had the right tools to run that offense. Yeah. You mean when you think about who's running back in Tennessee? Dare dare dare Ken Lewis. Dare Henry stiffer the wedding. You know what? And he he came run. He came put. He's definitely not zone running back. Now, he's he's so Aren Jones's for Packer. So I'm thinking like you. I got think if he takes this off if he takes offense and takes us sucker. Green bay. Watch out world. See here's my thing. Like, you got this guy who's young? And you just got now stories coming out that Aaron Rodgers game play calls from Mike McCarthy, and he was saying, bro. Like, I don't want to run that. I'm calling something else. You're going to bring in a guy who's a kid. He's four years older than Aaron Rodgers. Like, I don't think it's going to work is not masterful. I think it's errands for. I think a-rod is more of a problem. People realize just like Jay Cutler. But better I I agree with some of that. But at the same time, I don't think they make this higher without Aaron Rodgers approval. See they said they weren't going to. And I agree. They errands got what probably three or four years left. Six seven years. To if he stays healthy plays a forty two year. Thirty four. No, he's no Aaron Rodgers is a year younger than me. So he's gotta be thirty eight thirty four thirty five. It's like, I don't know. I just you hold them out floors kind of coach if you're the Packers, right? He lasts longer than Aaron rock floors the players coach. So I think when it comes down to that it's hard enough light Matlin floor. You know, a personable personable guy. Like, you know, you've been around quality control guys. Just like do we? Yes. And you guys became head coaches. And you're sitting there looking at is not the same energy cool. These guys don't have no personality. Like, hi I right now with Vic Fangio getting with Vic Fangio becoming will job figures. Get his head coach. Now, the Denver Broncos shout out to Gary kubiak was there. I Vic Fangio has the personality of an ant. A he is the guy that you like what? He's a good coach though..

"Possibly being truthful possibly not ever. Yeah. No. It's the right answer. I just don't know if it's the truthfully. There's no way that he doesn't think about his contract because speaking of golden tickets he's sitting on a golden ticket right now. But he is definitely someone who's played for a few years for Bill O'Brien and knows how to answer questions like that. It's actually good to hear. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. Of course, we'll we'll get more from cloudy here in just a second. We'll get to the clowney bit of news that I t's into the segment I do want to mention this. And we'll talk more about this top of the hour. After David Anderson joins us in the next segment. Cliff kings varies gonna be the next coach of the Arizona Cardinals. What in the blue hill is going on in the NFL Ron believable yesterday at this time there were eight openings now. There are six in case you hadn't heard right and there were Texans quality control coach, Matt leflore. Rich has got a four year deal to coach the frigate Green Bay. They've both been filled by Bohong face, man. Reputations is good offensive coordinators that are in their late thirties. It's absolutely amazing. And the jets were rumored to be very interested in cliff Kingsbury and the speed by which the apparently is about to happen probably has everything to do with the fact that the jets wanted him to and the cardinals didn't want to lose him. He's a guy who has we know has worked with several. Here's the list, Patrick Mahomes. Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, case keenum and Davis Webb that got him the job not his thirty five and forty over alriset coach. Yeah, Texas, I know he coach Patrick Mahomes. How many games did he win with Patrick Mahomes? The dude was barely five hundred with Patrick Mahomes. Now, he's coaching. The Zona cardinals eights was going on. It is a stunning somebody. And apparently speaking of former Texans assistance their first ever defensive coordinator Vic. Apparently close to getting the Denver Broncos job. Okay. Well, that that that appears to align with the traditional university NFL little bit more dude duties been absolute grinder is defensive coordinator for a number of years. Now, look here's a prize though, that is going to go with someone who's never been a head coach before after flaming out with someone who's never been a head coach before. No because I think no because I think Fangio has generally a lot more life experience in the NFL then Vance Joseph did. And I don't think you maybe a little bit rich just because I've always been one that says these guys always higher guys that are the opposite of what they just hired. I do think Gary kubiak being in the building. They're still matters. Because Elway has been blocking kubiak from taking interview. So what that tells me is it. Yeah. Vic Fangio might be the head coach. But they may hand the offense over to Gary kubiak in a and he may feel like if kubiak is going to still be in the building coordinating that offense that he's got enough general experience in the room there to where Fangio will be fine as a head coach. Coach I almost look at it. Rich data almost to me is a tell the kubiak is going to be part of the Broncos floors. I was just gonna say viscous Fangio's all about the defense of the football. I co head coaches kubiak is going to run the offense. That sounds actually pretty good. Now, we should say that Fangio doesn't have the job. Mike Mancha is supposed to be his is reportedly his his chief competition for the job. The there's a report out that it's down to either. And speaking of Houston connections. Mike Mancha Vic Fangio in Denver. Okay. Well, we'll talk more about that at the top of the hour. But I I wanted to make sure we got the Kingsbury news out there because I know that's news. A lot of people here in Houston would be very interested in. I got a lot of thoughts on it. We'll get you at three o'clock, David Anderson joins us in the next segment you're talking about he's not thinking about his contract. He was also asked in his exit interview on Sunday with the media. How would you feel if you got franchise tagged talk about?.

"A call? Appreciate you very much. So. And I'm not saying I am saying cliff Kingsbury is gonna fail. He's gonna fail. I'm not as convinced with Matt leflore. I'm not the new Packers head coach. And by the way in the news coaching carousel our colleague here at CBS sports. Bruce Arians is no longer our colleague here at CBS sports. He's the new head coach of the buccaneers Tampa Bay Halfon with F O that quarterback situation man, but areas is that experience, and I could see why certainly someone would be very excited about his leadership. The floor. Kingsbury thing is ludicrous. It doesn't mean it won't work maybe with leflore. Although I gotta say this Green Bay, Wisconsin. And I'm actually I'm broken. I'm spiritually dead inside as a bears fan. So I hope Google for. I hope it works those Dixon no super year. Cool. Like, I'm my brother, actually, my brother. Bob bobbing. Who who now lives in Denver lives in New York for a while? We're talking today. And I asked him he's trying to get me into soccer, Mike. I'm not watching soccer. He's like, and I like soccer. I've just done on the time. Right. I just I'm not a I'm not watching Premier League at seven in the morning every Saturday. I'm just I'm just not going to sleep man on the hang of my kids, and am I do the NFL college? There's so much to do when he goes on the NFL Guaymi of the NFL parents. He was already on the outs in his own mind with the NFL. And he said that that game he's done. He said it broke him. He's like, I don't like the bears NFL don't the NFL. So apparently that game drove him away from football for me. It's just I can say with authenticity with honesty. Go back or sure whatever. Cool do it. I'm never going to root for the bears again, I'll not ruined against the floor. I what I don't understand is how that titans offense. Signals to the Packers organization that Matt Lauer floors the guy who entrusted their and Rogers remaining great years and an offense. Now, there's some irony in this because the floor is coming off of a now head coaching tree under my verbal migraine. I got the job after his team in Houston where he was the defensive coordinator was equally inept and variable was great. So sometimes see, but the difference being I would argue that last year. The Texans defense were variables. The coordinator was injury plagued. It was a locus of injury that descended on the Texans. Football team in devoured all their hopes. That's not the case in Nashville, Tennessee this year, and whatever you think about Marcus mariota. Mario was the number two overall pick in the draft. You obviously has some talent. And that titans offense. This year was anemic at time. There were games. There were games where the titans needed to score somewhere in the twelve four field goals to fourteen point range to win games. And they could not do it. And the floor was the offensive coordinator calling the shots and the same thing with cliff Kingsbury. I mean, cliff Kingsbury. Mr. the McVeigh wannabe. This is what it's all about. Sean McVay two point does when really Kingsbury is Matthew mcconaughey, but he can't coach right? Like, oh, I'm so cool and chill. What's up? Y'all said worse. All right. Don't hire Kingsbury to be coach or me to ever ever do impersonations. And I'll try never to them here on the show. Again, Kingsbury went sixteen and twenty one with Patrick Mahomes in the big twelve think about that. Think about that part of the reason presumably he got the job because what is Sean McVay two point? Oh, well, unless it's a key honorees movie where instead of cleanliness his family, and that looks terribly clone. Sean McVay doesn't exist. But the notion is young offense of minded suppose. Genius connect with the young player. These GM's and owners they ever met. Sean McVay are watched him. He's Tom, but still has a career all he's not Mr. charisma, he has a. He's a photographic memory for football games. Hey, Sean high school junior year. What happened the third quarter three twenty one? He's like LeBron in that respect. Don't let his youth fool. You McVay is a machine he's a genius. He's a one off. He's a prodigy prodigies by nature are rare. They are once in a very very very small amount of times. Once in many, many, blue moons. Cliff Kingsbury ain't no prodigy. Sixteen and twenty one Patrick Mahomes in the big twelve. Made the incredibly astute decision that Davis Webb was the quarterback to go with over anybody ever heard of this guy because he's not successful. Baker mayfield. Come on, man. His only eight win season in six years. At tech was with Tom reveals recruits come on, man. Come on. It's not gonna work. Maybe LA flora. I'm highly highly skeptical. I under. It's amazing. How many incredibly powerful people are sheep, and our conformance and are cowards and can't think for themselves. It's true in politics. It's true and football truth athletic directors. It's true in Hollywood. It's true. And it's radio. It's true. And everything. Because just like it's hard to find a Sean McVeigh who is a football genius who will create a culture and will turn a bus of a number one quarterback into a formidable formidable offensive weapon who will turn a disjointed fractured. Broken organization with no home field advantage into a favorite to make. If not the Super Bowl the NFC championship game as rare as that is to find a coach, it's hard to find energy 'em harder. In an owner. Moses guys inherited that team are good at something else. You have to break the mold. You have to think outside the box. Everybody in the NBA is trying to play warriors basketball. The irony of that silliness that is that all of the people trying to mimic what Golden State is doing outside of Dan Tony were mocking at six years ago as a as a process that could not work. What do I mean? Golden State certainly found the secret sauce, and they decoded something, but they also were nonconformist who did their own thing and give less need a ton of credit on McVeigh. He was a kid when he got hired. He was younger than of his players and it worked because he thought outside the box because he saw in. He didn't see h he saw excellence, and he knew that if he got it wrong snee- was going to get fired. You can't hire Jeff Fisher. And then a thirty to thirty one year old and get them both wrong. Keep your job. He didn't say, oh, I need the next offense of guru. Who's young? Can he said this is the best football coach? And he doesn't check most the boxes and I don't care. I've done my evaluations. And that's the guy if that lead you to Matt leflore, okay? Maybe. Click Kingsbury, and it wasn't just Arizona. A lot of teams wanted to at least interview him for their services who's the next young guy. And the matinee thing is reinforced this little bit too, right? Young offensive minded again took a highly high draft pick quarterback Trubisky was number two with bears moved up and turn them into a serviceable offensive weapon and the bears despite the double during heartbreak that ripped my sports Seoul from my chest had a really nice season and have a really nice future. Matt Nagy came off the Andy Reid coaching tree. Matt Nagy has proven. He can accomplish something at the NFL level. We'll see if we can make the leap to the head coach, and he could. Cliff? I keep wanting to go cliff Kingsbury, Chris Kingsbury, that's how much he doesn't deserve that name remembered Iowa fans, and I'm talking about Chris Kingsbury basketball players shoot threes from half court. His career. He's now doing a or last at check. I wrote a story about fifteen years ago. It was a Bank manager in Nebraska, good friend. That's cliff. King career is going to be in fifteen years to some version of that. It's not gonna work and the other thing that I thought about 'cause I the Lord things interesting. And maybe I don't know the internal deliberations of the Green Bay Packers organization. Maybe they did they're evaluating. And they came to the conclusion that la- floors the guy because as much as he was a bat bad. His defense was bad the year before as a coordinator, my Grebo was has been an upcoming star in the National Football League for four years. And I think I've told this story on the air. I have a source that I trust implicitly in the NFL is never led me wrong. Very powerful guy told me. Four or five years ago? I lived in Kansas City five years ago told me get to know Vrubel, and I had it set up to our exchanging phone calls and tax. I was going to go down. I was writing for CBS. And I was going to interview him when he was just I think breaking in as a coach of the NFL might been a linebackers coach with the Texans at the time. And then I got a radio job, and I couldn't go. But my point is people new in a thought variable is going to be a high level guy for a long time. The leflore thing to me just stinks of all. He was a quarterbacks coach under McVeigh. Let's go higher. He was an offense coordinator last year who wasn't successful. The titans had a bad a bad offense, not a mediocre offense. They were terrible last season. They were not good. They were not impressive. They were not oh, man. Who who's that coordinator, we really got to go see what those guys are about last year. They were twenty fifth in yards per game. In points scored per game, which you know, feels I kind of an important category. They were twenty-seventh. The twenty seventh most points, and then a defense that took care of business and often put them in a position to be successful. If I'm Aaron Rodgers, I'm I'm a little worry. But maybe it'll work and more to the point. Matt leflore may benefit in a serious way. If he's not competent from what Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy in a lot of people didn't Green Bay, which is just we ride that excellence. I worthy. Josh Rosen is ruined over this decision to bring cliff Kingsbury 'cause you give Rosen three head coaches in however, many years of if kingsbridge fired in a couple of years. That's how you ruin a quarterback s s Brady Quinn as quarterback who's been a Brown. Pre Baker Mayfield. They'll tell you coaching changes for coaching change at for coaching change new system after new system after new system it will break a young quarterback. Clip Kingsbury is the guy that's gonna he couldn't win with Mahomes in the big twelve you think he's going to dominate or succeed in the NFL with Josh Rosen. I like Roseanne. But you probably got another thing coming McVay two point. Oh, doesn't exist. There's no LeBron two point. Oh, there's no Brady two point. Oh, there's no look at how many times Bill Belichick. Two point all has led to humiliation. Lost the latest incarnation is Matt Patricia it doesn't work. I I did a TV audition and broke into a cold, sweat and humiliated myself for an hour on a TV studio. Scott Akerson TV executive legend came down after screaming. Many affords me relax, which it did. Not relax me told me pulled me aside and said you may fail you may succeed and TV and radio, but you might as well do it as yourself. Don't try to be something. You're not Bill is gonna fail or succeed. You might as well do it as Bill Ryder, and you're more likely to make it if you're you twice every day of my life in this job, my TV jobs. I've tried to be myself GM's owners, you got to the same thing. You can't hire Sean McVeigh except one time don't try to go. Hire somebody something they're not. You gotta hire. Matt leflore be map before you got hired don't hire cliff Kingsbury. But if you do you harm to be himself while you've seeing what he is..

"For us though. Cheesehead news. Tony the Packers of hired Matt leflore to be their head coach gala floor. Mat leflore he was most recently offensive coordinator and play caller for Marcus mariota in Tennessee with the results weren't great. Mostly leflore was hired because he's been touched by both Kyle Shanahan as Sean McVeigh. Who are both of course, geniuses and residents in office of football. Tony are you all in or your usual skeptical self on this higher is thirty nine years old? He's only four years older than Aaron Rodgers who is now going to coach. And by the way, I don't know if this happened, but I certainly hope that Arron Rogers says. Okay to this and thought it was a good idea. Because if that didn't happen, that's lunacy. I have this thing about people who sit next to genius where I don't think it necessarily rubs off. I, you know, their baseball managers. I can talk about like that. So so he sits next to Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay in Washington. And then he goes with shannahan to Atlanta. He doesn't go with college Shanahan to San Francisco goes to Sean McVay, -nother -nother genius. But when he goes on his own when he's not touching those people, and he goes to Tennessee the results aren't as good. They regressed a little bit. So my answer is I don't know. Can he do it on his own? I don't know. Let me just ask the question here because I know McVeigh's too great regular seasons and Shanahan is son of a guy who probably ought to be in the coachee hall of fame at some point Cheshire, either young Shanahan or young McVeigh. How much they won how many titles how many rings zero so far playoff games? Well, shutting a coordinator at Atlanta, certainly yet coach what off games, I don't think. So you're not know just start. I'm just saying I I understand the of all the leagues and all the leaves are copycats in some form or another look at Golden State and of the three point shooting this come since then, but the NFL's seems like more than the others in which they're searching, they're all searching for the next Bill Walsh. No one is found the next Bill Walsh. Or Joe Gibbs and be the most recent guys out there. I guess so I know the search, but now you don't even have to win anything. In. This guy's case. What they're hoping for is. Of course that he is the guys he sat next to for a while. You don't know. But you're giving a young guy a chance they give a young chance in Chicago. He looks right now. Okay. How many No no? doing okay. But he's clip one might ask if you were all in or little skip. I'm a little skept. He too little schedule. That's my little for awhile there last week cliff. Kingsbury was reportedly being blocked by his employer USC from interviewing for NFL coaching jobs. Now, he is unblocked according to Peter Schrager of FOX in the NFL network. He's going to be the next head coach of the Zona cardinals Kingsbury head coaching experience to this point consists of six years at Texas Tech where he was thirty five and forty will von one of your many home teams and one of your many homes in Arizona is kings, very worthy of this job. It's the same question is depends on whether he can get Josh Rosen directed in a way that he's going to be a great quarterback. And by the way, he's got some weapons. His David Johnson running back, if he can stay healthy, and he might want to convince Larry FitzGerald, stop, dealing golf course. People will bind Kornheiser and stay unknown. Yes. I know you mid thirties you go into the hall of fame in the first valid you walk. He needs to convince him to stay. You're out of your your on. Really what if you can't use this all those together, the no he's not worth? It's Gerald is seminal Augusta. Stop. That's what he should do those great places play football. What's interesting about this Kingsbury is a great looking guy..

And the idea that he'll be able to get Rogers back to an MVP level and back to another Super Bowl. As one source said getting Rogers to mesh and buy in with the new head coach was the most important thing in making the higher and the Packers brass love. What leflore did as Matt Ryan quarterbacks? Coach in Atlanta where Shanahan was the offensive coordinator. And as Jared goff's offense coordinator with the Ran's where McVeigh was the head coach and the floor got the much-needed playcalling experience last season in Tennessee as their offensive coordinator. And now he's the next Packers head coach for more has her stakes. All right. Looks like Aaron Rodgers will have himself an offensive guy quarterbacks. Coach there in the leflore. Ryan Clark in house. I have a problem to the point where Mike McCarthy who's a Super Bowl champion who I went to the playoffs eight straight years with I don't want to listen to to the point where he's sending plays. And I'm ignoring him. But you're answering the remedy that is a guy who had the twenty ninth right back the question and excuse my naivety might be totally Oh there were. there were days. This is a beautiful. Thank you. Is. There any way that he was consulted the Aaron Rodgers in terms of who they were bringing in that he was apart him where he no, I'm serious. They say they weren't going to involve Aaron Ron let me answer. Let me answer that question. When people in Green Bay that I've spoken to over the last year and a half. Yeah. They told me one time Amerada dislike two three years ago walked into the office. I don't know whether it was Ted Thompson and want. Whereas I forgot who it was. There's a new coach in Green Bay Matt leflore offense of former carpets coordinated now. For the Tennessee titans. He's going to be the new head coach for Rogers and a Green Bay Packers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have offered the head coaching job to Bruce areas. The former head coach with the Arabs ONA cardinals. We'll get into all of that as the show progresses. But the first order of business is obvious. And it's the national championship game that took place last night. Santa Clara, California. The Clemson Tigers led by Daboh Sweeney. Oughta raining defending national champions the first team to go fifteen in. Oh and win a national championship in college football since eighteen ninety seven that team. The Clemson Tigers that they won the championship is not a surprises. Second national title in four years. They've been the college football playoffs all for years. It's not a surprise that. They won the national championship somewhat of a surprise because of the dominance in which we talked about the crimson tide from Alabama. There is no doubt about that. But fashion and the manner in which day one. This straight beat down of Alabama should give us all cores to pose this kid Trevor ours, a true freshman twenty and thirty two three hundred forty seven yards three touchdowns not a single interception. He looked absolutely sensational so much so that if the draft the NFL draft if he was eligible to be in at this share chances are he'd go number one overall he'd go number one overall. That's how you have to look at this. I gotta tell you something. It was a special performance. It was also a special form. It's by this kid Justin Ross six receptions, one hundred fifty three yards a seventy four yard touchdown to you Higgins, wasn't no joke. Ethan had three researches for eighty seven yards including a sixty two yard touchdown. I mean, you just look at these brothers and away Ella? Bama. Played last night. It was something special. Hope there is no way around it. You can slice. It any way you want to Nick Sabin the great Nick Sabin. All you'll be the greatest coach in the history of college football. Look punchdrunk. Looked completely lost. There's no way around this. I looked at him on a on a sideline set quotas. Like what the hell's going audience? I could not believe what I was watching. I could not believe what I was seeing. Travis at the running back three touchdowns. Ross one hundred fifty three receiving yards. I told you about Higgins forgot, Amari Rogers. I mean, it was a straight bit bum. Rush beat Alabama with tour. Ola school is in the second half. Three hundred hundred and ninety seven yards rather cover touchdowns also to a couple of interceptions in the first half. Also to a pick six to start off the game. So we got all of that. But I'm here to tell you right now forty four to sixteen straight drubbing. There's a new era in college football. I know Nick save. It's got six national titles. Nick Sabin especial and nothing nothing to deny that. But over the last four years. Clemson and ala Bama on top with fifty four wins and five losses. Four losses. I'm sorry. Over the last four years each of them have made it to the college football players off for years and over the last four years, they split national titles to to. I can make the argument to you right now that Clemson winning last night in the fashion that they want is the best thing to have happened the college football because you see bin ala Bama and everybody else and nobody's guilty. At than me. I went on. I take television most ago, and I ranked my top five teams in college football. And I said Alabama number five ala Bama number four. Bama number three. Bama number two. Burma number one. Coach Clinton was joking about it a couple of days ago. Steven as Senate Beth Alabama five four three two what? Yeah, I said it. And I was wrong. Period. This all the way to slice this. I mean Daboh sweetie right now when you consider the fashion in which they beat down Alabama..

"Gone for what seems like minutes. But thankfully, we're back. The first domino has fallen in the twentieth. Nineteen quarterback not quarterback coach carousel may as well. Be quarterback parasol because if you're a former quarterback coach quarterbacks you're more likely to get hired if you're an offensive guy, you're more likely to get hired. So the first name to no surprise in an off season where everyone is looking for the next Sean McVeigh hire somebody who worked for Sean McVay can't get Sean McVay. What can we get? There's there's somebody who works with him. Yes. Get him. No. Is this somebody who knows him? Does. He have any neighbors. Is there anybody who has any remote connection to Sean McVeigh? Can we hire that person, please? So it starts with Matt leflore who was with Sean McVay in Washington. With Sean McVay for a year with the Rams offensive coordinator. Mcvay? Let him leave to go be the offensive coordinator of the titans because he actually can coordinate the offense in Tennessee or at least did coordinate the offense because Mike variables a defensive coach. Now leflore after only one year of running an offense thirty nine years old only four years older than his new quarterback Aaron Rodgers which I guess is being his better than being younger than your quarterback. Which is what would have happened if they had hired McVeigh? Matlock floor third youngest head coach in the league behind. Sean MC van Kyle Shanahan leflore. Has worked with the likes of Marcus mariota Jared Goff. Matt ryan. Leflore is the quarterbacks coach the year. Matt Ryan won the MVP. Worked with Kirk cousins. RG three match Shaw. He's been around the NFL for over a decade now and the Packers make him their new head coach. They interviewed Josh mcdaniels and they opted for Matt leflore McDaniel didn't pull his name out of consideration. He's done that before once he's gotten wind that he's not going to get the job. I'm not getting the job. I don't want the job. It's the old. You can't fire me. I quit routine. He didn't even get a chance to do it Packers swoop in contacted everyone yesterday that they have their person and the one person who didn't get that phone. Call got a very different phone. Call was Matlock floor. Now, the question is will it work with Aaron Rodgers and Matt leflore can Matt leflore make it work. Can he get the best out of Aaron Rodgers? Trent Dilfer tweeted last night, Matt floors, Mike McCarthy before McCarthy stopped grinding. Ooh. Both smart creative offense, great pedigrees and strong leadership traits. Most importantly, he will coach Aaron hard. That's the key. You've got to coach him hard. He has to respect you. He has to. Be challenged by you. He has to be willing to buy into what you do. And I think that one of the questions that undoubtedly will be asked when. Matlock floor is introduced to the media in Green Bay is. Did you meet with Aaron Rodgers? Peter King had a great point. Even though the Packers weren't going to use Aaron Rodgers to screen candidates from the team's perspective. Peter King believed that whoever was a candidate for that job should want to speak to Aaron Rodgers to make sure Rogers is all in. But I don't know what happened yesterday. But man, it just fell together fast. I get the impression it all came together on Monday afternoon. And I don't think that folks in the building anticipated. It was going to move that quickly. That's another question that needs to be asked of Mark Murphy the person who ultimately made the higher what happened on Monday. They got this done. Did you start to get the? The sense that someone else was going gonna hire the floor. That's part of the game. That a good age plays is not a game. It's life negotiation. Oh, well, you really like my guy while you know, you better do something because he's available. We hired. He's not. He's not coaching a team that is still playing. You know, if you don't move. Now this chance somebody else is going to and sometimes that's true. And sometimes that's Bs. But a lot of times it works, and it created sense of urgency. You don't want to not get your first choice. Are you? Sure, your first choice while we think he is. Well, somebody else wants him. He's off first choice. That's just basic human nature, we want what we can't have. Right. We think about that car. I think it's all right while that other couples looking at it, really, I I now see it in a different light. Well, you know, what their test driving it all what would they be back? What were they going to be back soon? Because I think I want it. I want are they buying it? Because I want it now because I don't want them to have it because they may know something I don't. Isn't there so much of that goes on it's just human nature? I have a feeling that happened. So. Who's next? I don't know. We're going to talk about that more coming up will it work for the Packers. We'll find out we will.

"I would have had more time to organize. My thoughts decide how I wanted to deal with it. Should I try to get together? An interview with a couple of people who know the guy she take calls and so forth, and so on well, I'm making this up as I go along here. And I made the decision that I don't wanna take call reaction to this. Because I frankly don't think there's probably two or three people out there who may know a lot about the guy. It has something to say. But let's be honest. There has been almost no input from most Packer fans. And this list of candidates because I think most people didn't know what to think if you had three or four people who are head coaches in the NFL, and they were your finalists out there at a guy fired from this guy this guy over here. It's a lot easier for people to be able to react to then. A bunch of people who've been working as offensive coordinators are maybe a defensive coordinator Brian flory's, the New England linebackers coach is on the list. It's real hard for fans to offer really anything intelligent there. And I get why that is because everyone even the most knowledgeable person it's going to be running a little blind in trying to figure out what's going on with an assistant at another team. What I do want to do is spend one more segment before moving on to a couple of other topics. Some thoughts on the Packers into higher. Matt leflore thirty nine year old offensive coordinator for the Tennessee titans. I want I decided that I made some quick notes here during the newscasts to organize this into reasons to be optimistic and reasons to be concerned reasons to be optimistic one of the things that strikes me about his background. And he's continued to move up. You could say well these job jumper. Well, that's what happens in the NFL the way keep will get fired, right and left. If you're on somebody's staff, you're gonna leave too. But his moves have always been upward. He's had a pretty quick trajectory here. And Secondly, the teams that he's been involved with all wit. It's hard to find a better less than teams that have made quick turnarounds. Then Atlanta, Los Angeles and Tennessee every one of those teams was essentially struggling before leflore joined the organization and has gotten better since even the titans missed out on the playoffs this year by only one game. The Rams organization was one that was showing hints of being good for the longest time. Sean McVeigh came in and he made his his coordinator, Matt leflore. Now, I did a little bit of background checking here and trying to gain a little bit more information, and apparently McVeigh was very very high Adam and was not upset that mcflurry floor left as his offensive coordinator to go off to another team. You think that you would if you're the head coach your offensive coordinator says hey, boss, I'm gonna to quit and go to another team to be their coordinator. But apparently McVeigh gave the blessing to leflore saying, hey, I understand you want to call the plays here with the Rams. I'm going to be the play caller. So we went from being the offensive excuse me the offensive coordinator at a team. We didn't call the plays certainly very prominent developing the game plan and working with the quarterback to going and working with a new team can see where the offense will certainly not dynamic was significantly improve this year when he was with Atlanta and was the quarterback coach there Matt Ryan setting all sorts of records for putting a passing numbers. So I think if you wanna take a look at his track record of what he's done, that's reasons to be very very positive. Next threes. It'd be optimistic. It doesn't look like he's going to change the offense. Does anything I've learned about when teams hire new coaches, especially college. But also the pros when they come in. And they change the system it always takes a tour three year transition. Leflore is a disciple of the Shanahan's and they run their version of the west coast offense. The Packers have been running the west coast offense really ever since. Mike Holmgren came up here. You do it in there. Fell off his chair. Do you have any input? The you oughta make into this. I mean, we pop in and offer something your Paul Paul said, he loved this. I the next thing you with the west coast offense thing one of the Knox. I had on Josh mcdaniels who both Paul and I felt would be a bad decision selection for the Packers the offensive coordinator at New England is that it would have meant likely changing the offense England is not run the west coast offense. Bella check doesn't believe he runs a different type of offense. That's much more intent on they call it vertical throwing the ball downfield. He doesn't believe in this Dink and dumped Inc and dump Dinka dump which is the hallmark of the west coast offense this use the running backs through off to the side slant pattern, so wide and just kill these teams. And then when the defense finally comes up, and you know, challenges the receivers go along and try try to kill a spectacular offense. And it's really worked well ever since Bill Walsh, invented it. It's. The only offense Aaron Rodgers is plated. If they come in, and they tried a completely different approach. Maybe that would have been worthwhile. When Rogers was twenty seven not when he's thirty five changing. The system would have been a bad thing. Now, obviously, this is not going to be the same system. Mike McCarthy runs, but it's going to be the same type of concept that sort of west coast offense concept that they have the fact that he's been connected to some of the best minds in football. You take a look at some of the lists of people both Shanahan's, Mike Shanahan's alleged his son. Kyle may not be the greatest head coach in the world that undoubtedly he's an offensive guru. Sean McVay is probably if you wanted to look at the gold standard for hiring a young coach when the Rams hired a couple of years ago that would be one. So he's hit somebody who has had the respect of some really really sharp people in football. I'm glad they didn't do the thing that you see so often higher the guy that comes to the team that just had the one good season. You see this all the time team comes out of nowhere has one good year. You hire that person. Well, there's more of consistency here with regard to the floor and in terms of well, Tennessee, wasn't that great of a team this year. Again, he was only there the one year if they had a new head coach and Mike gravel if we're able and they did turn that team around. They did go nine and seven this year. So those are the positives. The downside the negatives. The biggest one is the obvious one. The Packers are in a win now mode. Aaron Rodgers is toward the end of his career. They're gonna try to squeeze the lemon and see if they can't get one more run at a Super Bowl with Rogers as the quarterback you're bringing in a guy who has never done this job before at a time in which the Packers. Can't afford a learning curve. That would be the first red flag that I would start site the second he has no experience at all any any type of guiding of an organization when you're an offensive coordinator or a quarterback position coach. And so on you don't run the team meeting and deal with the defense. You don't deal with the special teams coach you don't go to the spa. You don't go and size up, which of your assistance need to be fired. You don't handle all of the problems that are societas with running an organization like this. That's a red flag. And then I would say just generally the fact that everybody's hiring the same type of guy of him. I don't know that I liked that unbalanced. I think they've made a good decision. And as I said on the program late last week of the candidates that were on. And I obviously you could say, well, they should have hired this guy that they'd never considered. Well, they didn't ever consider of the people that were known to be on this list of people. The Packers were looking at. I thought to stood out leflore and Adam gays who was just fired by Miami. And I would have been okay with either of the two could prove to be wrong. But I would have been okay with either of the two. We'll be sleep over that Paul. Yeah. He when Matt Ryan said his broke records for passing efficiency he was as quarterback coach. And you'll note that Atlanta wasn't much of anything after that operation after that operation left in the same situation happened when he went to Los Angeles and was hands on with Jared Goff. Jared Goff went emerged into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. So. I would think this in assembling a staff. There are some indications. Now, it looks like he's going to keep bike Patten as the defensive coordinator in assembling the offensive staff and hiring special teams coach. I would hope he gets at least one more person on that staff with head coaching background. You know, they have these titles like associated head coach. That's the one that Winston moss held person that does a lot of the stuff of the administrative being as young as he's been and never having been a head coach. I don't you know, the interviewed Pagano. The interview Caldwell for this position bringing in somebody like that to work on the staff who has head coaching experience. I think would be an important thing for the floor. To do. Paul.
"matt leflore" Discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP
"On that. By the way, will dress that in a minute we have hot NFL. I was gonna say did you see that? I deny Adam Schefter just tweeted out the Packers are zeroing in on hiring titans. Offensive coordinator, Matt leflore has their head coach sources talent robbed him off skin me. Packers have begun notifying other head coaching candidates. Dave interviewed that they're out and the team has made its choice. He's a young kind of Matt Nagy type rights. I don't believe he's. Former patriots guy. Tune while he was the offensive coordinator for Sean McVay last season before he took the titans jar. Yeah. Before he took the time. He was either quarterbacks coach for the Rams and then became the head. Tennessee. Yeah. Yeah. So yes. Actually the Rams a year ago in seventeen he was the falcons quarterbacks coach fifteen through sixteen and he was back at Notre Dame as the quarterbacks coach in twenty fourteen. So Matt leflore looks like he's going to get the Packers job. Yeah. So a lot of these jobs will start filling up and Vic Fangio as we know is supposed to go out to dinner tonight with John Elway in Chicago, real quick to get back to the callers point Khalil Mack. Ended up the game with six tackles only roquan Smith had more. He had one tackle for a loss. He had a couple of quarterback hits. It wasn't a Khalil Mack multi sack game. But I think you're under selling his importance in how he played on that game. Based on him not having a strip sack or I agree. I if you watch the film, and maybe we will see this from like Baldy or someone else. I still think you'll watch the film in say he had a major impact on again, these are professional Jason peers is a multi time pro bowler lane Johnson is a multi time pro bowler. They're center Kelsey is is was an all pro this year. I mean, it is a very talented offensive line. There are a little long in the tooth. And they did give up forty sacks this year. But they were rotating guys in and out at times. I think part of you has to tip your cap to them and say, look they held up pretty well against one of the most ferocious defenses in the league. If not the most ferocious defense, we're in the middle of commercial free hour, plus three one two three three two three seven seven six. If you wanna react JD is gonna join us here shortly marching Greco five thirty. I've got some played I played a plate from you from yesterday. The worst call.
