"Fourth than three. The percentages go way down. But that was something that I do pretty much every game where you're balancing that. With the momentum of the game and where we're at and I felt really confident that we'd be able to convert obviously we didn't. That's why it's a tire team function and job to win a football game and they came the defense came through and we didn't turn the ball over. So we ended up on the winning side. Good for him to say he went for his gut. Got not analytics. That's a rarity, but I still don't get it. I don't get it. I don't get the gut, just go up. It just seems like nobody wants to go for three anymore. It's just, it does look like coaches in the NFL are playing like it's a video game. Nobody wants to nobody wants to just kick three and just be boring and just keep adding to your lead. Just keep adding. And the whole idea is like, you know, we have the defense. I went for it because I knew the defense would actually, you know, I trusted the defense. If you trust the defense and give them more points, to protect. Right. Am I wrong? Otherwise, I don't get it. Another one. If Doug Peterson was in Philadelphia and not in northern Florida with all due respect to our friends in Duval county, I mean, this is the sort of stuff that would light up phone lines for days. Taking on the Giants, a 12 plate, 60 yard drive that winds up on a fourth and one with a minute and 30 to go in the fourth quarter. And they snuck it up 1713. Take the three and if the giant score touchdown, then you're telling Dave ball, all right, you go for two again. Just like you did in week one. Let's see if you'll do it again on the road, Brian. Put the pressure on him. And they didn't get it. Giants next drive, right down the field, and guess what? We're still talking about what a wild finish that ended on the one half yard line, right? There was just like, you know, rams and Titans in the Super Bowl, except it was a week 7 regular season game between the Giants and the Jaguars. Oh man, just wound up right there in the Giants escape with the skin of their teeth. Well, Jacksonville could have just kicked the field goal to send in an overtime. Those are three points, man that you would think. Three points that you would think would be helpful, but no. Nobody wants to take field goals in, I guess they're too boring, and they're two points. Is that what it is? And three points is three points. 8 four four two O four rich is the number to dial here on the rich. I don't know if we've just made a new segment called, I don't get it. I like it, 'cause it's just like, all I gotta do is just watch the Chargers game. And I'll come up with three of them. I don't get it. What are you doing with Justin Herbert? What are you doing? What are you doing, not punning? What are you doing kicking it here? I don't get it. Matt Judah of New England and apparently breaking news out of Indianapolis when we come back. Rachel, can we extend that? I don't give it to the NBA. How about this one? Russell Westbrook last night, one point on top of the blazers, okay? He's dribbling up, his teammates are all coming, you know, just jogging up the floor because there's 20 seconds left on the shot clock. They're up by one 30 seconds left in the game. And he hoists one. Nobody's underneath the basket, of course he missed it. I mean, if you take the shot clock down and then you're one offensive rebound away from just wrapping it up. I don't get it. They're zero and three. Here's what I don't get, yeah? Well, I mean, we've got Victor Wen bayana. We're looming very largely. 7 foot 5 inches four inches. Looming right there. And Danny ainge in the Utah Jazz have decided they were going to clean house. You know how like you donate all your old clothes and clean out the cupboard, take out the trash and do all that stuff to make room for this prize treasure and get the guys on the team apparently aren't getting the memo. They don't know that they're not supposed to be winning these games and now the jazz of three and O and I got to be honest, I just don't get it. What are you doing? Somebody I guess Kelly Olynyk didn't get the memo when he threw one up in the middle of the paint and somehow made it through the bucket. In overtime and Zion and Brandon Ingram are out. What are they doing? I don't get it.

"You a pumpkin topping top first place last week? 90 years old possession right now. Yeah, I didn't. Nobody told me that before we started the meetings in there, I would have been going nuts about that for this one too. Yeah, that's good. 7 weeks in. Look who we are. Who the fuck it? Do you see the way he's like, who the funky? Yeah, let's talk about the menu in the cooking around here now. Anybody else? You know he wants to say that. What is he saying privately? You know what he's saying privately, I bet you what he is saying privately is let's keep this thing going. He knows how fleeting this stuff is, man. But he's got to feel great about it. And he knows the Giants are coming in and they are a really good football team. How about this? Is a marquee game in week 8, 6 and one New York flying all the way out to Seattle late window game and week number 8 to take on the leader of the NFC west and Pete knows while that game's going on down in the spot he just left victorious, the rams in the niners are going to be beating each other up just as Arizona visits Minnesota. Yeah man, they win this game and they're still in first and everyone else is beating each other up. And then comes Seattle going to Arizona and then I'll see him in Germany. You too. Yeah. How's the cooking? Hashtag die. You ready for some bratwurst? Says Pete. Try the pretzel bed bread. I'll be here all week. Oh yeah, no, I had one when I was in Munich. Oh yeah, man. So good. All right, let's take a break, Matthew judon coming up more of your phone calls and would you believe you'll never believe this nugget about what's happening during the World Series. Even the NFL has to say, just when baseball has its own floor. And then Matt Judah, the Patriots. That's all coming up.

"It's gonna be real real tight, right one. So along those lines, we need to get to this now. There's one game this weekend. We're all looking forward to his Monday night football. Um Ravens Raiders. But the Raiders sorry the Ravens keep getting Hit with injuries. That it's cornerback Marcus Peters now and running back because Edwards but season ending torn a C. L s and practice, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Peters went down with a knee injury first, and Edwards was injured A few plays later, according to a source. Ravens coach John Harbaugh called an end to practice the source, added. J. K. Dobbins toward the A. C L in has left me in the preseason finale. August 28th Justice Hill also hurting Achilles tendon. Ravens have added Devante Freeman and Levian Bell to the practice squad. If this was five years ago, they'd be impossible to be. What does this mean for Lamar Jackson? Right, like That's so true. How come inside? Are they going to get the TVs? Murray? I mean, he just got cut by the Saints, right? It seems like a feasible option since he's available. Right? Yeah, I think the TV is Mary is is Is a good one. Um, but if you if we're just talking about the running back spot to replace somebody I was talking to Evan last night and we were going over some stuff, and so I said to him, I said, and I said, you guys, I said, you know if I'm in that room, and I don't know what Mark in the situation was why he departed why they let him go other than injury. I would kick the tires on that and find out if I could trade back for him because in Houston, he would let me like, Come on, seriously, He's not. I mean, he's getting a check. He's going to play. Well, get a check. They're not going anywhere. But if you go back to the Mark M V P year who was the running back Mark Ingram, who knows the offense, Mark Ingram. So you bring in other people in that has to get up to speed on what they do, and so I'm like, Well, why not give up a late round pick and we've seen teams and coaches do this before. Go back and get a guy that was which you once before? Because you give up a draft pick and you get him and you absorb the salary, and now you don't have to teach All over again, but question to you guys. What's the most important injury to this team? Is it Is it Marcus Peters Peters? Or Is it the running game? Peters Peters? I mean, they're running who's there? Most dominant runner. It's the quarterback and he can't run No, Max without them dudes behind no doubt Mark Ingram, by the way, also used to dominate the press conferences. Let's not forget about that. But that's real because he didn't like he he and Lamar obviously had a thing going and that so I agree Key. That's that would be you would want to at least kicked the tires there. Who now who Now I want to focus on the NFC North for a second, cause. We're just coming off. Talking about the Steelers and the Browns. And now the Ravens. What does this mean for these other teams? Does this mean does this mean that the Steelers are now the primary threat to the Browns? If we see the Browns as the number one team in the division? Does this mean anything for the Bangles cake? Well, the Bengals in the Biggles is going to be sitting in. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, they sitting in fourth. That conversation. Um, it just It puts the pressure on the Ravens, though it that's really all it does. It just puts more pressure on the Ravens because we talk about all the injuries that they lost. But we've now they lose Marcus Peters, but let's remember Matt Judah are left. In free agency. He was an important piece to what they do on the defensive side of the ball. So when you start to think about with the injuries and the people that departed to go to other places, they've got a lot of stuff that they need to replace. So it just It just puts more pressure on the Ravens. But I think the Cleveland Browns to answer your question is above everybody else. But not not 100 yards in front. Just a few. I agree with that, Jack. I disappeared. Two guys both. Look, I just the talent that the Browns have. They are by far the superior team with what's happened in that division healthy. He just laid out all the injuries we've had. To the Baltimore Ravens. We talk about what Pittsburgh lost in the offseason granted. Ben Roethlisberger, Najee Harris. We'll see what that old line can open up. And I'm not discounting Mike Tomlin at all. I'm just saying, if we're talking about what Tampa Bay what Dallas looks like on paper I know that these divisions are fights when you look at what the Browns have even what they added defensively, right and Malik and you talk about your Davian County and Miles carabiner for defensive player of the year offensively, the way they run the ball with Kevin Stefanski Key. You're saying one of the best coaches they've had in Cleveland for a long time. It's theirs to lose. I don't understand how you guys aren't agreeing with me on. I think it's going to be a type division because you have Pittsburgh and Baltimore are always competitive franchises. I don't think they're not going to be competitive. But I'm with you. We all agree the Browns of the class of the division, at least on paper. The Ravens are hoping Lamar Jackson can get into the zone without three of his top running backs..

"England patriots. Wow the patriots have released cam newton. I am very surprised we should note. Cam missed some practices because he was placed the nfl's cove in nineteen list and mack jones apparently seized that opportunity to assert his place as the starter he also sees. Every opportunity was given in preseason games. He looks excellent. Jones sticks staff on third and five throws the punch back to it time for down. Catch throw right there steph. Their own balls out but cam. In addition to being a contract is probably the best backup quarterback or would have been the best back of quarterback in the nfl so to me. It was surprising. Knock that bill to chose mack jones over cam but that it seemed like he chose. Brian hoyer jarrett stidham. The other backups. Over camp now i should say we don't know what cam asked if he was interested in a release and we don't know exactly why bill made this decision but the fact that newton is no longer a patriot is surprising so the patriots last season with cam as their starter. I mean they're pretty average. I guess he would say and now the patriots have this dynamic where look if you squint. Mack jones the dangerous dynamic kind looks. Is that thing of your new girlfriend. Kind of looks like your ax. Which is to say that there is this question of can bill bell succeed without tom. Brady and here comes back jones to play the role of maybe the replacement of that guy. So what are you expecting from all of that in new england. Well i i hope all of your girlfriends don't listen to spike. Just had a great point that out there. yeah. I expect big things from this team. Not because of mac jokes but because this patriots team around him should be a lot better than the patriots team we saw last year. You know the patriots had a ton of talent. Walk out the door and free agency going into the twenty twenty season. They had players like dante hightower. Who's really the heart of the defense off doubt because of coveted and they didn't have a lot of talent at skilled player amongst wide receivers and tight end so bill went on a massive spending spree in free agency bringing in a tight end. John smith and hunter henry An matt judah on a pass rusher. And i expect this team to be good now. I don't expect them to be better than the buffalo bills who i view as probably the second best team in the afc and the best team in the division. But i think the patriots frankly with either quarterback matt jones or cam. Newton are a playoff team. Well okay so. I want to spin around to different team with quarterback because chicago bears. They're going with andy dalton as qb one as they have now declared it to start the season. This is in spite of justin fields their first round rookie pretty much looking as good as anyone would imagine he would look during the preseason so help me make sense of this. Why is this happening. Well i think you can't look to anything that happened. The preseason for an explanation as to why the bears didn't decide start justin fields right away because he looked really exciting. Electric fields hangs in there starts to close the park to the. But you did see something. And i guess actually this is something that in the preseason that might hint at why he's not out there immediately which is that. He was constantly under address field. That's going to be a flag. Well at ball is loose. This is what you worry about with with a young quarterback clearly. He's looking at the opposite. I talked about how the patriots team jones is playing by. One of the better offense lines in the nfl. Not the case with justin fields. So while i would have personally made him the starter immediately. Because i think he gives this team the best chance to win. I could see a logic. Or perhaps i guess a rationale that while justin feels gives them the best chance to win. It's not best for his career to try them out against the rams defense and aaron donald behind this offensive line. Now i will add. I don't agree with that line of thinking. Because while it's aaron donald week one they're playing myles garrett in week three when royal eveland and many many terrifying past russia's log way at some point justin fields is going to be the starter. Just not week. One so i assume that all of these opinions and takes that you have. Obviously they come from you grinding. So much tape. Which team would you say. Brings you the most joy when you're deep in your film study. I've really enjoyed watching the forty niners the final week of preseason because kyle shanahan their head coach did something kind of wacky and it's appears to be something he plans on doing during the regular season as well. Which is he played two quarterbacks power both jimmy garoppolo the incumbent starter and trae. We can talk about these rookies. He was their first round pick. They both played on the same. Drives cycling out. Jimmy's coming on field. Trae lance is coming on the field. This is something david extensively on the practice. Field right in the middle of the series. Trae lance john a second. This is something that is divisive literally is dividing time between them but it's really fascinating and especially in the case of layups. Because of his talent. His value provides to an offense is what he brings to the rodney causing. And also i think the best run game designer in the nfl. So i was really excited week. Three in the in the last week to see him us deployed really as a threat. And here's landscaping walking. In for the touchdown do.

We're going to talk to Judy Matt Judah is from Springfield, Massachusetts. Judy is one of the organizers of what sounds like An incredible event. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, and it's the Star Spangled Springfield. It's scheduled for Sunday. July the fourth six p 10 p. And we'll talk to Judy about about that. We look forward to look forward to doing that. And I had an interesting conversation. This seems to be Seems to be the The response. I'm hearing from people, but There's so much going on in the world right now. It's it's uh, it's hard sometimes to really get a handle on. How do people really feel about this? That or the other thing, But I'm sure you've heard in the news that, um Bill Cosby. Was released from prison. Bill Cosby had been sentenced to do some substantial jail time for particularly for a man of his age for, um Doing things to women. Um Basically, the allegation is drugging them and taking advantage of them more than one woman. The the Statue of Limitations on one of these women had not run out. So a friend of mine was asking me well. Did Bill Cosby. Well, it's a tough story because a lot of us I'm one of these people. I grew up loving Bill Cosby. I can remember seeing Bill Cosby in New York. In Schenectady, New York. Yeah, I I worked in Albany, Schenectady, Troy Um, I those are the places I went to, so I saw him at Proctor's Theatre. This is Bill Cosby. And just put on this great Shell. Never forget it. So anyway, that was just, you know, I have this vision of the cause. So when all this stuff happened, it was a real heartbreaker, So I still don't know how I feel about him getting out of jail. Because the reason he got out of jail and if you're a lawyer, you know this was that well. It was what they call a technicality. And On appeal. Cosby's lawyers on appeal. Presented to a judge evidence that a deal had been struck. And that His cooperation Bill Cosby's cooperation he would never do jail time. Now beyond that, and and the specifics. I don't know, but that's the thrust of it, okay. So the judge overturned the conviction. Of the sexual assault that Cosby had been convicted of. And merely a few hours after the judge did that made the ruling around two in the afternoon. They let him out of jail. So the friend I was talking to said to me because well, I don't understand. Did he do these things are not. This is a good you know, common sense. Did he do this stuff or not? My reaction is, is Yeah, I think he did. And because of a technicality, and I may be called a technicality. It's a deal that was made and the judge in the case said. Quite honestly the district attorney that prosecuted Was this in Pennsylvania that prosecuted Bill Cosby should never have done it. She never had pressed charges against the guy. Because it's a about a document. It's a record. You guys made a deal with him. You didn't honor the deal. Signaling voyage. What happened? And so the judge, let him out. But the question she was asking me was well. Did he do this stuff or didn't he? I think he did. Again. It breaks your heart. He's one of those one of those iconic Figures. An American entertainment. Was an I spy. He was innocent. Something like that. But he's just the cause. You know, great, great comedian and to come down like this and find out he did this stuff. And the reason I am just a lay person. I'm not a lawyer here and I'm not. I'm not arguing. Because I can't I'm not arguing. The law here. I'm not a lawyer. I know what I read about. Why did he get out? I gave you the explanation in simplistic terms. He got out. On what some would tell you is a technicality. But The reports in the media have been from the get go. That is not one woman or two women. But many, many women Have said basically the same story that he used pills. Liquor, too, I think and he he drugged women to take advantage of them. Not the fatherly, you know. Dr Huxtable image that a lot of us had of the guy, But, yeah. It's the totality of the number of people coming forward. How can you not? So how do people feel about Bill Cosby, being released from jail is an injustice. And then some of his fellow actors. The woman that played, um Was it. Claire Huxtable, Uh, on the on the Cosby show, she came out and made a comment that an injustice had been righted. Obviously supporting her friend Bill Cosby, and she's on a television show and now People are saying you should be thrown off that television show because of what you have said. Now you got to understand. You know, particularly for a lot of women, Maybe all women, you know A sexual assault conviction is pretty serious stuff. And not just one allegation, but many allegations and you're found guilty at least on one of them your sentence You're doing your time. Then suddenly you walk free. Obviously, you know, going down too well with some people, they don't They don't like that. But there are also folks out there that are saying that what happened to Cosby should never have happened to any American. In any social strata. The Constitution one today. Said, former prosecutor Bruce Castor said in an interview. Castor made a deal with Cosby's attorneys. In 2000 and five Now this is why particularly if you're a woman, but I'm sure there are fellows that maybe don't like this either. But if you're a woman, and you're just like kind of ticked off How is it to this kind of thing happened? And like me, you believe? Yeah, I think I think I think you broke my heart and I think you did this stuff. It's not, he says. She says it's like a bunch of women. A bunch of them all saying the exact same thing, friend. But how does this happened? This is how it happened. This guy, the former prosecutor, Bruce Castor says back in 2000 and five He made a deal with Bill Cosby's attorneys not to bring criminal charges and as a result, he was unable to avoid testifying in a civil lawsuit brought against him by his accuser. The judge saw the 2005 deal and said The prosecutor. Or the D A. At the time that brought the charges against Cosby, you should never have done it. Didn't have any right. A deal has been made yet. Were you were bound by Then you've got other saying Today's majority decision regarding Bill Cosby is not only disappointing. But of concern that in May it may discourage those who seek justice. Sexual assault in the criminal justice system from reporting or practicing in the prosecution of the assailant or may force a victim to choose between filing either a criminal or civil action, said, Uh Uh, Uh, a statement from Andrea Constand said in a statement. Cosby was found guilty of drugging and molesting this lady, um in his home in 2000 and four so this is one of the victims..

"And stream now got our play of the day coming up. And, uh, your phone calls as well as we always do. Every Monday, best and worst to the weekend. We make way for the popular co host of pro football talk live on Peacock. Chris Simms, the former NFL quarterback who joins us on the program, Chris, Thanks for joining us. Let me start with the quarterback. We are most likely to not see next season. Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees. Okay. The one were most likely not to see. I mean, I think it's really up in the air for all three of them. I'll say I don't see Big Ben. I think Big Ben's going to try to give it one more year. All right, So I'm going to say that and I think for what he's done for the Pittsburgh Gordon organization. If he says he wants to come back one more year, they'll probably let him Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, one You know, I think Philip Rivers is probably the guy would say is the most likely we've we won't see again, Drew Brees. I think it's a little bit like Ben Russell's burger if he says he wants to come back. They're gonna bring him back. But I do get a field or a sense just by some of the comments Sean Payton made during the year that they'd like to move on a little bit, But I think rivers would probably be the leader in the clubhouse on that one. Who deserves the heat for the Steelers lost last night. Well, um You know, overall, just the whole offensive unit. The approach everything they did you know, towards the end of the year, you know, I think I came out a few weeks ago. It's one thing to be predictable. It's one thing to be predictable within your predictability. Okay, we're gonna We're gonna throw the ball. And now you know, we're gonna throw the ball with our dads, so they're predictably predictable. Right. That's the better way to say it. See me and be in English are no so that good, but that's the way they say. That's why they pay you the me talk pretty. Yeah, me talk pretty right. Me play football Meat blonde. I mean, not that smart, So, but that's like, I think that's it, though. When you talk about it, it's we know they're going to throw the ball. Okay? And then the compounded We know they're going to throw the ball five yards down the field. You know, over the middle of the middle of the ball middle of the field that area and I think that's really the issue. I mean, come on, snap over the head. That interception over the running back, said in a formation in the play set that they usually don't do play action. One man route, you know, then they get into the next drive, and it's the third one and they can't even run the ball for a yard if they really want you because that's not what they are, so it's really overall just the offense in general. And, of course, big Ben's a big part of that, By the way, we're focusing on the teams that lost over the weekend right now, and then we'll talk about, you know, moving forward, So just so you know, Yeah. The Rams and the Seahawks. You know, I'm not surprised at what happened. I'm surprised at how it happened. It really felt like the Rams. That was a varsity in Seattle was a junior varsity. How did that happen at home? To Seattle. Yeah, well, the Rams defense is special. That's the first thing and the one thing I say when I really break down Rams Seahawks matchups to you Got to remember the Rams were built to beat the Seahawks. You know, when Sean McVeigh took over Seahawks for King of the world, you know, so you're gonna build your team the way how we gonna win our division and that was, you know priority number one. So really on the field player for player, they match up well with them and then The defense for the Rams. You know just what they do to the Seahawks. They got a front for that can contain Russell Wilson. They gotta DK Metcalf for Racer and Jalen Ramsey. And I think the big thing is just to focus on the Seahawks like you're saying. They need another idea Guy on the offensive side of the ball. I like Brian Schottenheimer, but it's like maybe, like I would say with great Roman in Baltimore, I might be one of those things where you go. We need to bring a passing game coordinator in here. Just infuse a few more ideas and things into our office because, as you see it's very stale, and teams really caught on to it the last four or five weeks of the year. How should Washington fans feel today? Um, that their organizations going in the right direction. There's a lot to be excited about. I don't think, Taylor Hi. Nikki is going to be the future of the franchise. But either way that was amazing with what the hell we saw the other night. I mean, right? I don't know. I just kept going. All right. Here comes the blowout. What he did. Whoa! Unbelievable. All right, here comes a blowout. And then he'd pull out another unbelievable football play, but between that defense I know some of the guys they got all over there, You know, even in the secondary, they got a good offensive line. They got a star receiver and Terry McLaurin. Antonio Gibson, who was playing hurt here at the end of the years are really damn good running Baghdad. They're a team I would say like They get this quarterback situation figured out. Watch out for Washington and 2021. What happened to the Titans? The Titans ran into a healthy Baltimore Ravens defense. The first time they played there was no Brandon Williams or class Campbell. They dominated the line of scrimmage. The Ravens defensive line Brandon Williams, class Campbell, Matt Judah, and they kicked butt and I think the rookie linebackers they have impact your queen and the leak. Harrison too. You know the fact that they got to see Tennessee earlier, I think helped them how to defend the run game and what to do properly. There was really a big thing. And then those two corners in the back end the fact that you can rely on them and go. Wait, We gotta stop Derrick Henry. And then we gotta put you guys on the island versus a J. Braddock. Corey Davis know that that Z special defensive unit and of course you know that offense for the Baltimore Ravens and their physicality and Lamar Dan? They just throw it just enough like we saw yesterday with Hollywood Brown outside the numbers and just attack that part of the field where defense's have to defend it. It's going to help their offense out big time. It's gonna open up the running lanes and everything like that. I thought that was one of the underrated aspects of the game yesterday. Guess I should mention the bears to be professional. I guess the one question I have is, you know what do you do with Mitchell? True biscuit? I feel like.
