"To your kid or take a bite out of it, because football has a bite out of it. Like we're all wild animals. I don't know. Isn't there a football in the studio? Missing a chunk out. It's always a bite out of those. There's no children around here, which means I think it was Jonas. I think it was Jonas Knox. All right, but stick around because it's going to be a fun show. It's a fight weekend, so I'm pumped about that. There's a big fight and there's big fights in the future. Which ones are you more pumped about? The actual fights the real fights are the spectacle this weekend. Plus, hazing if we have time, there's lots to get to weekend hobnobbing, what you need to do. I want to tell you again, I'm going to tell you why we need to take a time out from Aaron Rodgers in a second. But I have a couple of final thoughts on Russell Wilson. As we broadcast live from the Mercedes Benz studio, the 2023 Mercedes Benz family of SUVs, extraordinary, is one test drive away, learn more at dot com. Now, it's an honor to fill in for Dan Patrick. You know how no one feels cool. I'll say when I heard my wife on the phone with her dad last night and I heard her dad you know when you could hear someone through the phone, I heard her dad say he's feeling it for Dan Patrick, that's pretty big. I was like, yeah it is. It feels cool. This is a big show. I went Joel opens up the microphones and he says, welcome to the varsity locker room fellas, let's go. And then we're like, oh man, this is big time. And Joel snaps you with a towel. Stop it. Shove you in a locker. So my final thoughts on Russell Wilson, the story today was he wanted Pete Carroll fired his Vince McMahon style that he go, I want him. Remember, look, this is a very he said she said, thing. And we live in a culture society that loves gossip and boss up and if it bleeds it leads. It doesn't need to be true. It's good gossip. Yeah, it's proven that, hey, we love to talk about Russell Wilson. His camp his team himself is completely denying the fact that he wanted P Carl fired. Is that what you? Is that what you went in high school? Russell Wilson camp? No, I want the young people stay here. Remember that? Here's the deal. Russ is saying. Russ is saying, yo, I didn't want him fired. I got nothing but respect. He was a father figure. I love Pete Carroll. Irregardless. Which is not a word, but regardless of all this, I think what rust needs. I have the solution to all of us when we can move on. He needs a good documentary. Every time falling in love with an octopus, that was a great documentary. My Octopus Teacher. Maybe not about an octopus. I missed that one. Oh, really? One of the Academy Award, some dude fell in love with an octopus. And they got it on. They didn't get it off. That's what I think happened. But that's a true story. I got it on with an octopus. It was a great documentary is my point. How many tentacles? 8. Osteoporosis. He needs some good PR is what you're saying. So I'm a Tom Brady fan. I know Joel's a big TV 12 fan. But for people that were on the fence, Joel, I hope if you tell me you haven't seen it, I'm going to be so sad because you're a Tom fan. The man in the arena? Yes. The Tom Brady documentary. Fantastic. If you didn't like him, watch that and you'll love him. You watch Joe cool under pressure. The Joe Montana documentary on peacock. You watch that? Joe Montana is the greatest guy. Fantastic. You watch the last dance. If you're not already convinced that Jordan's the goat. You'll love Michael Jordan. You watch a documentary about someone where they're involved in the process of making it. If someone made a Russell Wilson documentary. I don't think you're going to like what you see. No, I think they'll craft it to make you love that person. He just needs a good Netflix or documentary. Why did you leave the captain the Derek Jeter documentary out of it? I haven't watched it to be honest. I'll watch it before the season. There's that new series or documentary docuseries, I guess it is about the three quarterbacks. Marcus Mariota and Patrick Mahomes, co produced by mahomes new production company. Which means it's going to be very pro mahomes. He's going to have a hand in it. I mean, obviously we'll be pro mahomes because it's about the 2022 season. Manning's behind it as well. His production company. It seems like they just create these production companies. They could turn around and do stuff about themselves. They'll do a hard knocks about a team you don't give a diddly do about, but you're like, maybe I do sort of like the falcons are culture. It's sort of nice to watch them. Mike, other than my team, they seem like a bunch of nice guys. It's all good positive PR. That's what rusty. Hey, if you need something to watch later, Jeremy Lin has a new one out. Relatively new one out. It's like a 30 minute documentary and it's fantastic. Same type of at the same timeline as this crew. 30 minutes. It's about a minute to minute comparison of insanity. Real time. It's fantastic. I'm just saying I'm throwing it out there. I still believe in insanity. It was a great moment. Yeah, 30 minutes long. But all these things. All these things are great, cavina. These PR moments. You still live it on couches. Help people. You remember the Jeremy Lin lived on a couch and then he was playing for the new one with raptors. He has a ring and he's the man. It doesn't matter. He's got one you don't. Uh oh. He got one, you don't? You can't take that away from somebody. He got to that point. He had his moment. I believe in that moment. Danny G anyway. Danny, did you fill in the blank for me because I'm brain dead right now? The Kansas City chief who won a ring, but he didn't play a down for them. Running back? Who was it? He was at the Broncos two. Why am I drawing a blank? And he's like, yeah, I did nothing. I got a ring. Who was it? Come on. I gotta look it up. If you guys can figure it out, fill in the blank for me. So why am I forgetting what running? Kansas City picked up at the very end of the season, never played for them, but he got a ring. And for those of you keeping score at home, the Jeremy Lin one, the new one, is called 38 at the garden on HBO Max. You can check that out. It's really good. Short too. Melvin Gordon. Melvin Gordon. Melvin. Went from the Broncos, went from Bronco starter to the chiefs practice squad, but then because he was on the practice squad, never played with the chiefs. But got a Super Bowl ring. Does that count? It does count. Yeah. You know what he brought to the team behind the scenes? Part of the team. But my point is, it was a great documentary and you could watch documentary about nonsense. An octopus, like I said. If it's good, you learn a little something you feel good about. Hear what the Russell documentary would be. What is it going to feature? The one year. It's going to glorify them. Just understood the narrative. Nerdy dude, but premier athlete, right? Baseball could have played baseball or football, went football, was a lower draft pick, but then he fought for the start in the NFL beat out Matt Flynn. Seattle made the tough decision to go with The Rookie. He won a Super Bowl, and then the heartbreak of not running the ball at the goal line in the Super Bowl. And then the heartache of go through a divorce from his high school sweetheart, but then meeting Sierra. They could package this to make you love the dude. Why not do it? Netflix definitely need some damage control. We're going to show the photo of him and his wife on draft day. His ex-wife on

"They trade a 22 fourth for 5th to give up Shelby Harris, who was good in that Monday night game. Noah fan drew lock. And then they gave Russell Wilson the 5 year 161 $1 million guaranteed deal to new ownership. There's a little new owners syndrome in there. But this was the classic, this guy was so great in the mid 2010s. He was off the last couple of years. Well, we can excuse that all these different ways. Monday night, he looked like the same guy he looked like the last couple of years. He's not the same athlete. There's a couple times when I felt like I wasn't running around. He just didn't. He missed some throws. Like the one played a Judy where he underthrew him to the point that it was an easy touchdown and it turned into like a hard one. I just wasn't impressed that I thought it was pretty telling. I know it's been discussed for 5 days, but or four days, but his coach was like, it's fourth and 5. You just gave this guy a 160 1 million guaranteed. And you're trying to 64 yard field goal and you're actually like setting it up to kick a 64. What are the odds that what did you think the odds were that that was going? I would have put out like 15 very little. I think the stat I read was like two out of 42 times has a kicker made a 64 yarder or more in the last ten years. And then fourth and 5 exactly. It's like 45%. So the odds itself, even if you're just looking at it in a vacuum, made no sense. I've spoken to Broncos people and it's like, and this sounds crazy. If it was an 8 yard gain from javonte on third down and it wasn't a 9 yard gain and if it was to the 47 and not the 46, they would have gone for it, but Brandon McManus told them on the sideline I'm not blaming mcvan as he's like get it to the 46th on the left hash, I can hit that. I will hit that 46. Of course he's gonna say that. He wants The Rock, but the other thing is this bill like they iced him and he was way off. When they iced you and you get that free kick, does the coaching staff not think like, all right, that was no good. No, they were like, trot them back out there. Let them try it again. It was abominable by Hackett. The two, the two moment, it's funny, 'cause Dave ball was the other way with the Giants where he was just like, we're fucking going for it. And he was like, fuck it, we're on the road. Let's go. And then you have Arthur Smith, who's on the 42 in New Orleans up to chance to put away fourth and one. You're going nowhere anyway. You're not a playoff team. This is a game that you ran that first down. New Orleans frontline wasn't even good in that game. Yeah. Yeah. And instead they punt it and it backfires and they lose. And then this one, you got your new QB. You just gave them all that money. Do you believe in them or not? And if you get a fourth and 5 and a Seattle, if you're playing against Detroit in week 13, fine. You're in Seattle. Like imagine that locker room, you come back and you convert that because Russell got it. Or if you don't, you hold your head up high and you say, all right, well, I was putting the ball and Russ's hands. You have no questions to answer. No one's going to question you. The truth of the matter is, Bill, they fumbled twice on the one yard line. They had 12 penalties. They were 6 points. Despite being in the red zone four times, there's a lot of reasons they lost that game. They put up over 400 yards. I don't think Russ looked terrible, but I hear you on your point of like, everyone's response being like, wow, they just got Russell Wilson thinking this is 2016 Russell Wilson. I was like, as you're talking, I'm racking my brain. There's been a few of them. I'm making like Albert Pujols getting the giant deal from like the angels, right? Yeah, I was thinking MBA. It's almost like those NBA trades where you get the NBA star who's like 32. Right, like a loser. It's like, hey, you see? I'm trading Chris Webber for Mitch Richmond. Yes, but what version of Mitch Richmond am I getting, right? That's a good example. Yeah, Mitch Richmond. I would be really concerned if I was a Broncos fan. Really? I feel like I feel like you wash that game away. That was week one and a weird environment with crazy shit happening. And you say, okay, week two, we gotta use it. I get it, but if rust was still that guy, that's like a Kaiser soze. I'm burning down the house game. And he just didn't look like that. I didn't think he to me, he looked exactly like you looked at last year, maybe it'll flip. I don't know, but I'm worried anyway, all the stuff they gave up and they guaranteed contract. And I'm not positive. He's a sure thing. So there's a little new owner syndrome. So that's two mistakes. Third one, the home run swing mistake. We don't have to litigate the Lance trade again. But they gave up the 13th pick in 21. First, in 22 and 23, and a third and 22, for a guy that I have no idea if he's good. I mean, I'm going to give him benefit of the doubt for how bad the weather was and all that stuff, but at the same time. Maybe. I mean, the other guy maybe. Right, the other guy did at the end. I don't think either guy was that great in the game, but I don't know. All of this, there's so many red flags. The fact that they kept Jimmy G, the fact that okay, what's the bigger mistake though? What's the bigger mistake? The trade itself, which is whatever, or the doubling down and without him winning the job saying, he's our guy, no matter what, even though Jimmy just took you to the, because we've been down that road. I mean, this is like heath schuler's the pick by the Redskins, and no matter what, they're starting him, even though Gus fort outplayed him every single time. And the opposite of this would be like, Brady, getting The Rock from Belichick and being like, I don't care about where you were drafted and what we're paying Bledsoe. You give the ball to the guy and the niners just gifted Trey and look, Trey might be the better quarterback. It was still very early, but for him to get it out of the gates and it to be a no brainer, even though Jimmy's still under contract at the time for 25 million and just took him to NFC championship game was a wild decision. That might be the mistake. Maybe you let Trey win that job or you go to Trey, but to say in February, Trey Lance is our guy. It's RG three and cousins or the opposite being Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn. Like Russell Wilson won that job and was a third round pick and Pete had the confidence to say, gosh, I got to give it to the best man. Trey Lance kind of given this job and I'm curious to see how much never works in football. It doesn't. It just does the team knows. Yeah, we were still on van and I were texting about Bryce young the other day during that game that I will be able to ask. Well, I was like, he reminds me of all the things I don't like about Kyler and Marcelo during the game was saying, the guys got incredible

"With your initial take there because I thought the biggest disappointment for this team as he sort of collapsed down the stretch was how poorly the defense blade, which is their young and they're fast and they looked really good early in the year and then they just didn't look so good late in the year. Yeah, and I think that could still be the case. I think that there's a reason that Matt rule keeps pouring first round draft picks on the defensive side of the ball are kept pouring first round draft picks on the defensive side of the ball into that team. I think it was obvious where some of their weaknesses and their holes were. If I were to rate this team as a quarterback mess on a scale of like, well, I don't know, there's a lot of messes that happen in my house. I have two little kids. Let's say the two year old knocked over is cup of water, which would be like a one scale mess or like someone fed the dog a bunch of orange rinds and he threw up all over all over the carpet. That's like a ten. I'd say it's gonna be like a 6. 6.5. It's like some spit up. Yeah, yeah. Something food related has gotten onto the rug. Or spit up on, you know what used to be the worst, and I don't know if you had the same take where as a young parent. They were very few times that you had clothes on that you picked out, like mostly it was just like whatever was around and you just threw it on because you're so tired. But then once in a while, you'd put on one of your favorite sweatshirts and then they'd just yak all over it. That's one of those. So it's probably right around there, like a 6. 6 and a half. Okay. Well yeah, that was the trick you had to, that was back when I went into an office and had to dress like a human every day to be seen by other people outside my family. And yeah, you had to like, I'd wear the undershirt around the house, and then it was time to leave the last thing I do is grab my actual shirt and put it on. And head to work. It's a solid idea. So if baker, you know, we're kind of finding potential landing spots. And it remains Carolina one, and Seattle is the other one. I will crack this door open for the Seahawks. I'm not a drew. I mean, no one's a jerk like believer. Drew lax immediate family, probably. And then I apologize if you're listening to the show. Your son has been very successful in his life. But if you are going to make a drew lock as a multiyear starter argument. It would be you go back to his rookie year, see what he did under rich scangarello. And now you are in Seattle with Shane waldron, who, you know, it's not, it's not the same guy, but it's loosely in the same family as a rich scan guerrilla offense. So you get to work in that a little bit more. And maybe there's something there. Maybe you unlock something. Again, I don't think he is more than a, if the season started today. And that's still their roster. I think he probably makes it through 2022, and then they find someone else for next year. But, you know, you might get more out of him than people expect. I think you could get more out of him than expected. I think there are some read the tea leaves reports, and I'm allowed to say that again. I haven't said that in how many times have you said interesting today. And none yet, which is interesting. You've said at least once, yeah. Okay, yeah. I'm not counting, but I heard it once. Nails on a chalkboard. Just kidding. So I'm allowed to say this now. Reading the tea leaves, there was a lot of John Schneider drew lock love at draft time, and I think that that was part of the reason he felt comfortable pulling the tradeoff. What's weird is that it seems like there's the report now that Geno Smith is the leader in camp. If drew lock doesn't clearly win this job by the second week of training camp, then I don't imagine this being a very successful venture moving forward. It's almost like when they brought Matt Flynn in and we thought that, okay, yeah, you're going to pay them all this money and he's going to be your starter for a long time and something else happens and life completely changes. But if drew lock can't win that job in the GM loves him the way that he did, I don't know, I think that's pretty that's a pretty tough situation. I'd be all for Gino Smith, get another shot here. They too. They just really, the one big bummer to me last year was, you know, geo played really well in relief of Russell Wilson in the Thursday night game when Russ broke his thumb against the rams. And I didn't expect them to go out there and be like, all right, Geno's gonna throw it 60 times a week now. That's not how they play anyway, but they really reigned him in. I mean, he was on a, he was on a very limited offense there, as far as what they were asking him to do. It was just, you know, flat out, here's some play action here's in RPO. Some of their RPOs were kind of neat, but that was it. I mean, they didn't really let him play quarterback. Yeah. I don't know. Seattle, it's a mess. It's a quarterback mess. I think it's probably probably the messiest. Yeah. Okay. I don't know. I would my take would be, and I don't think either guy is going to work out. My take would be, I would take drew lock over Sam darnold right now. I would trust him to reach a competent starting quarterback level more than I would trust darnold to get there. Okay, yeah. And boy, part of me just hopes Gina Smith comes out in just electrifies the world though. Isn't it? Wouldn't that be cool? It would be cool. You know, that guy had a rough, he had a rough go. I remember being having to drive from my house to floor and park the day that he got his jaw broken. Just ridiculous. Yeah. You know? Poor Todd Bowles. Poor everybody that was involved in that. "matt flynn" Discussed on Greg Bedard Patriots Podcast with Nick Cattles
"So they've got to do something. I don't know what the plan is going to be. I'm going to guess Belichick has a plan. I don't think he's just going through this blindfolded, but you better have some kind of action following up if you lose Jackson to help this secondary because right now the secondary was thin with Jackson. It is a real issue without him. Let's move on to some of the big NFL stuff. We still have to get to Kyle van noy and everything. But you know, we've got to jump to the next big story. And that, of course, is Russell Wilson being traded to Denver. Greg, your reaction to this deal and how does it affect the Patriots if it affects the Patriots? Yeah, I was a bit surprised that the Seahawks ended up moving Russ. I mean, I knew he wanted to move, but that they ultimately did it. I was a bit surprised and it's a big risk by Pete Carroll, who's not getting any younger and John Schneider, the GM out there. You know, not too long ago, they were in this sort of vast QB almost desert land where, you know, they signed Matt, they had to sign Matt Flynn for big money and drafted at some chump named Russell Wilson in the fourth round, and that was sort of where they were. And then all of a sudden they struck gold similar to the Patriots with Tom Brady struck gold on Wilson. And they were living the high life. And now, now for now, they're going backwards. I do think I wouldn't rule the Seahawks out on anything as far as cubies moving and things like that. Like a deshaun Watson, a Derek Carr who despite all the good things that Josh McDaniels and company are saying about car out in Vegas, they're always going to listen. They're always going to listen. They might have designs on something else at some point if something were to develop the other quarterbacks that are available out there. I think the Seahawks will be in. As far as how it affects the Patriots, number one, let me just dismiss a couple things that I've heard in the last day..

"And it'll be interesting because John has never hired a coach. John came in with Pete Carroll. It was an organized marriage. And so there's a lot of internal questions that I think they're going to have to answer just by virtue of the fact that their head coach is 71. And Pete Carroll looks great. He looks healthier than I do. And he could easily coach for another 20 years. I'm not saying he can't. But, you know, I just think that there's a lot of complicating factors here. I was going to say, if we're being just as blunt as we can, we're probably closer to the death than Pete Carroll is at this point. Even though we're 30, 35 years younger. Just the way it is. Teach me your way. Would you be open to I'm just throwing out a hypothetical that helped nothing at this point. But if you're Pete Carroll, is there any chance you're looking this and being like, oh, this is kind of like when we have Matt Flint quarterback, like, I could do this again. I can rebuild this thing. Yeah, it's going to be a rough year or two. But yeah, I'll hang around. NFC is bad. If they take a small plucky quarterback in the third round, I would say hell yeah. Like let's run it back, you know? Let's do this. Who's like the equivalent of like the weird Matt Flynn guy that they would sign to like an expensive contract and then all of a sudden it paid in the draft. You know what it'd be like it would be like trading trading for Tyler Huntley and then signing them to like a two year $40 million contract extension. That's good comp. I was gonna say 'cause I would also just trade for Tyler Huntley. Yes, that would also be cool. Tyler Huntley was good last year. I don't know how he'd look over an extended season. Now I'm in love with the idea. This analysis has gone completely off the rails. But no, I was looking at this list of free and by the way, this was supposed to be a free agency show, but we're going to push that back till the Monday show here. These are all kind of guys who are proven in some way, shape or form whereas Matt flyn was like, yeah, he was back up for the packers and then he had that 500 yard game and yeah, we should go get him. There's someone like that. No, there's no one like that. Well, Mike white from the jets, right? That's a solid comp, right? Yeah, yeah. Although I feel like microwave had some math playing games. We saw the aftermath. We didn't see that with Matt Flynn, he walked out on a high Costanza style and then that's the way that went. Well, the news of the day for, I don't know, about 75 minutes was Aaron Rodgers. Announcing he would be re signing with the packers, which was always the logical outcome here..

I saw he showed me one of your Breakfast round podcasts. And i thought you know which do another breakfast run Sorry go ahead. Which was which breakfast. It was an engineer. I can't remember also. I should so issue up and here we are here. We are in yeah. I think what the recommendation was do breakfast. Ron but that's primarily mainly for operators certainly. Well it's only a thirty minute thing. I mean this this is going to make this impactful. Have an hour long an hour. Long shooter chic. I think that's probably more booming. Get more good conversations so so growing up with so. We talked to us foreign bryant and a lot of stuff that we talked about. So how weird is it. Once you enter the professional world loss of calling your dad by his first name you know. It's it's one of those things where i just have to. It's a weird transition. So like i said. He just recently made a transition on thai. Ws ceo roy. Also yet yeah. Congratulations to him on well-deserved so i've watched him worked for it. His whole life so excited for him but yeah so he's probably went so we're doing some work with ws at corvette with them sort of integrating some of their information that they're sending so him and ryan. I'm sure we'll be in contact while at the so. What's that relationship is going to be like. Is going to be like. He's gonna be like still like william or be like a customer or i was that going to be like the. How are you going to draw those lines. I mean i think we draw those lines. Just sort of physically. I mean. We're both pretty at sort of separating work life from homeless. you know when if it's business related i mean. I think we're pretty good at making that that separation once he crosses the threshold to to the house. He's he's not allowed. It's it's neutral ground. So you know he'll he'll be dead there So that has decided. We'll inside of the house. It's mr william so tell me about growing up in the old so so. Apparently you've moved a lot travel lot..

"Rich. Dan Campbell was right, though they're gonna bite you. Here's the parent. You know the parent victory thing, but I mean the moral victory thing. The silver lining the silver. You know, lining and the silver former Silver Dome team. Hey, man, we didn't give up. We were down by 28 We just give it up. Okay? Great. I mean, there's something there is something to be said about that There is something he said about it for the moment, though. They lost to a team that's going to be difficult to reckon with. And the Seahawks go in Indianapolis. They did their thing. Carson Wentz was doing his thing, which is a couple touchdowns. Took some sexy shouldn't have and crumbled. Uh and we'll see what goes on after week one. But Seattle four touchdowns for us. He did some Russell Wilson. Thanks for touchdowns, then three sacks. Who's that? On? Who's that? On whose fault was that? But to for Lockett, one for DK. And the second highest single game passer rating of Russell Wilson's career. We got the Cardinals coming up. We talked about the Rams already. Cardinals coming up head Coach Cliff Kingsbury joining us in our number three deepest standard pool. You don't want any piece of that. And pizza already in post season. Mode, man. He's chomping gum around what Jim Brockmeyer called him the world's oldest teenager, right. Nobody called him now. The dick Clark is known for its right. Forget that caveat. Now the tick. But Pete, remember, we had it on in the summer, and he's kind of like I thought we already handled this thing about me and Russ being on bad terms. What's going on here? I'm like, but we haven't talked you and I haven't talked. We have called it old news, but we haven't talked about it. Yet Many allowed another follow up question on it. We have, but Pete's just like, you know, beats like I got a trophy in the case I could add to and I just keep on winning up here. That's all I'm doing when everybody thought I was just going to be a guy from USC already forgets. You know, as a coach before I was a coordinated before I've been around this league for like. Ever long time. So here he was yesterday talking about Ross and the offense and I don't know who is actually referring to that Russ was well, you'll hear how he's referring to what Russia was doing with this guy. But this is great. To me. It really goes to Shane. I think his first time out a chance to show it and and, uh, really, really proud of what he was able to do, because he went for it the whole time, and we did exactly how we've been practicing. And how we've been preparing. And, uh, he handled with such such a cool, uh, overall mentality and all. And, uh and he and Russ, we're just cooking and so Oh, I'm sorry. I said that this can you scratch that dog on it? They were. They did really well together out there. I don't never think I ever said that one time all that last year. Now that sounds to me a little bit. Not off the cuff that sounds to me and again. I'm Sounds to me like I think he was talking about the new offensive coordinator. If not, I don't. I don't know, but it sounds to me like he was planning. I'm going to say that they were cooking together. And then stop myself. I can't believe you scratch. I can't believe I said that and said that all last year Here's why. This is why Pete Chase. At the whole, Let us cook thing. Because the implication is who's the one? When you say Let Russ Cook just let him cook? Who's the one who's turning the gas off in the kitchen? Who's not letting him Pete Carroll. Hey, You know what, Russ? Let's get take out. You know you don't need to cook is the one that's not letting Russ cook. He hates it and all he's probably thinking in the back of his head is Who is the one who gave him the chef's hat and the kitchen and the utensils and the menu and the recipes in the first place. After we just sang Matt Flynn. Don't forget him. And they had two bars. Jackson Yes, Who's the one who drafted him and said he's practicing well, always compete. That's my mantra and then backing it up by putting the rookie in there from jump. So I'm the one who's not letting Russia Russia wouldn't be cooking. In the kitchen in the Pacific Northwest if it wasn't for me. I love Pete Carroll. Man. Pure, pure, pure, deepest end of the pool, The NFC West. It's gonna be great. This year. Peter King coming up. Do you know 85% of people who played daily fantasy sports lose is really that surprising. The game is rigged against.

"If you're Andy Dalton, and you're the starter. But if the defense is slow and is in the head of the offense, like it has been the past couple of years, it's going to be a problem. It's all the pressure even more. So is going to be on the starting quarterback. Say, Let's let's recalibrate that line. Don't say if the defense is slow, tell me what is going to happen this year. Well, Andy Dalton be the starting quarterback for the whole year will be Justin Fields. And what's up with that? Maggie's future? No. I I think drafting Justin Fields by some time for Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace, two guys who I like very much and I respect very much, and I do think, although there's been a few stumbling blocks along the way here, they know what it takes to have a winning football team. Look, Matt now he didn't walk into a Mike Glennon midst Robiskie situation. I mean, didn't Pick that scenario, I should say he walked into it. What he was in with the Kansas City Chiefs was a Patrick Mahomes Alex Smith situation And so what he's trying to do is create that now in Chicago now that he's been able to go out and pick the quarterback that he wants to have, so there's time now to be had Not five years, maybe not three, but at least a full season of okay, Let's see what happens here. It is not Super Bowl or bust in Chicago this year, but it is be competitive in the NFC North, especially if Aaron Rodgers is still on the Green Bay Packers and make the playoffs or bus this year for Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace, And so what do I think is going to happen? I think the defense That does lack death is going to take a step forward because I think to sign knows this defense really well and has been there for a really long time and is really smart and can maybe utilize the personnel different than Chuck Pagano did in Chicago last year. They need to have some depth and make sure that a guy like Robert Quinn stays healthy. I think Andy Dalton is going to be your starter for the foreseeable future until he makes catastrophic mistakes. He has multiple turnovers in a game. It results in an Allen. It is absolutely his fault. Maybe that's weak to maybe it's week five. But I think Justin Field, you drafted him for a reason, and you're going to see him become the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Sooner rather than later. But when he's ready, and he's not going to be a bad shadow on that coaching staff, so I don't know when that is, but I know that he's a very athletic dude, that is a very smart guy, and I think once he's got a good grasp of this offense You will see Justin Fields under the helm. I'm going to guess, guys, I'm going to guess I'm going to guess if I had to guess when he's going to go in there. The Bears play the Lions at home on October 3rd, Um, that would be week four. That's when I guess we're going to see Um Justin Fields so weak for against Alliance, Shay I know you've answered this question. 17,000 million Different times. Justin Field he'd make starting week three this Daniel Bah bah bah! When what what can he do to force their hand? Bye week one. What can he act? What can he do? Nothing. He He can't do anything. It's not happening. It's not happening at this point. If Matt Maggie has told us five different ways five different times, Andy Dalton is going to be the starter. He's going to be the starter. I mean, he's a liar at that point if he doesn't the other way around, but but he's basically I want to call him a liar. But he's fudge some stuff. Last year with the whole mixed Robiskie Nick Foles kind of conversations. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know who I'm going to have at this point. No. You know who's starting at quarterback? You just didn't want to tell us. No, no, no. I disagree with you. I wholeheartedly think he didn't know who was going to start at quarterback. What I think he knew is that he had a Super Bowl MVP on his bench and mixed. Robiskie had been struggling out of the gate, but the bears drafted him so high and gave up so much draft capital. That they had to at least give it one more, You know, try. And so they did, and when he constantly turned the ball over against the Atlanta Falcons, who had a terrible defense at the time, he said, I can't I can't do this anymore. My jobs at risk put fulls in and fools just didn't pan out to be the guy. You thought he was going to be. People thought falls is going to be the answer in Chicago, you that offense inside and out. So you're saying Justin Fields can't have splash plays in training camp, And then whatever in in in, um, preseason, really, just start to like. Light it up to the point. When you look at you go much like Pete Carroll did. Where? Russell Wilson and, uh But the moves the quarterback, uh, that they paid all the money to Matt. Uh, Matt? Matt. Matt Flynn. Math was Matt Flynn. Yeah, that Flynn. He can't. He can't come to that sort of resolution on the situation where all of a sudden It's like I I just got to play this dude. Can someone check on key? Okay, you played in the NFL. You think OTAs training camp and preseason or what's going to sell a dude like giving you that you're not listening? No,.

White Sox have the day off Louis Robert to the D l Or the I l with the hip flexor strain has an M r i scheduled today. Cubs will come home and deal with Bueller. Be Walker Bueller. Clayton Kershaw and Trevor Bomber, the Dodgers The best of luck to you, sir. Yeah. Besides a couple Sox have seen a ton of Dodgers already this season. Oh, God. Who are they? Good. Oh, layered with offense earlier and with pitching. They're the best right now. You gotta knock them off. That's gonna be that's gonna be a daunting test for the Cubs coming up here in this. I mean, struggling. Yes, The Reg is one thing. Okay, but but the Dodgers You're hoping for maybe cooler temperatures. Maybe that will help. I don't even know what What did you talk to Butler, Tracy Butler and Danny, Are we okay? For the next five days? We're gonna have some rain tonight. Actually, it's funny As you're speaking that I'm getting a text from our good buddy Jesse Rogers. He says no big surprise, but I'm already hearing good chance. Cubs Dodgers postpone tonight It's 90%. Sure, don't say 100%, but 98% sure it's going to be postponed tonight. So good work by our boy. Jesse. Yeah. Good thing for the Cubs to double header here coming up tomorrow. Maybe both teams are off Thursday, so that could be when they play. Yep, we'll see all right back to the phones and let's go to chief. He's listening. Hey, chief. What's up? What's going on Cat Jay Hood, Man? Yeah, good time and business in bed universe to have a real quarterback. Well, I was thinking this deed This guy's gonna be the first M v P with that. I know you can touch my things. Walking may have had one n V p one years way back in the seventies sometime, but honestly, they just it feels will be our first M v p And then this. Secondly, if anybody had any questions, just please go back And look at your biscuits. Pro day versus Justin Feels pro day No Winky mechanics, no crazy fundamentals. Everything is all nicey and baseball background knows how the slot We Super Bowl and less than three years, guys have a good one. By the way, he was the NFL MVP in 1977. Thanks, Chief. What? Chief Seven time First team all pro second team all pro once. Nine Pro Bowls back to the phones. Let's go to our guy, Greg brags and Saint John. What's up, Brags. What's happening, Kabir! Welcome back. Thanks, buddy. Good to be back. Yeah, s oh, no regards to when he should start a wind. Kevin J gets to take over it left tackle. Those things should be term in that camp and preseason. Don't premeditate a whole year off. Don't premeditate starting him right away. Let's let the players decide that and then to my second point where the reason I was calling in some of the earlier said this isn't like Derrick Rose. And I completely understand why you wouldn't go there because he was born and bred in Chicago. Chicago's very own. What? Uh Small chance that we had to get rose a 1.8% chance. This feels similar in that regard. It was such a small chance that we get Justin Fields and then when you add the fact that we were so starved for a Franchise changing direction, which that's what this is compared to Derrick Rose. I think it's a very good comparison aside from the fact that he wasn't born from Chicago, but the impact he's going to have is very similar. I mean, some people want to go Jordan. That's where you don't go to me. It's a very similar comparison to their growth. Let's hope it finishes the way we thought there grows an inch or anybody out there that says to you, Greg brags. Well, you liked Mitt. So you're not allowed to root for this guy? People to go stick it. You're a bears fan first and be just fine. They can come in my little kids and come at me all day about it. But I'm a bears fan all day every day and I couldn't be more excited. Yes, I'll continue to serve all root for Mitch over the Steve figure it out. We have moved on to a new era. This guy is a totally different echelon. A totally different stratosphere. If you're not excited for this pick, and you don't have a pulse. This is big time move by Ryan Pace of mad Maggie. Hats off to them because I wanted them gone at the end of the season, along with Mitch, and you know what? They showed me so they shut me up and let's go see them develop him. Right way, however, that entails if he comes in, like Russell Wilson, and he proves he's better than the starter, Matt Flynn, you play him right away. That's how you get the request your line. If he's not ready, so be it. But let's let it play out at camp and let's not get ahead of ourselves. But it's very happy week and I'm happy. You guys are back. Keep killing it as usual. Gentlemen, you're the best have a great day to go weak. Later, guys, see if there go our guy, Greg brags. Do you agree? That the Bears have the ability like the Seahawks did. You go. Andy Sarse. That guy's starting heath. Clear. Sure. Sure, Well, they have the ability. That's their franchise. Andy Dalton was promised that he'd be the starter. Correct. Promises are broken in the National Football League all the time. That's my clinic and in Dalton knew that this was going to be a short run anyway. Is in. If anything was gonna be approve a deal for Andy to say, you know when I could still help of football team, he said. The cowboy's got banged up that wasn't great comes to the bears things. He could be the number one guy, but even Andy Dalton at this stage of his career, he knows it's temporary. He knows that No question. He he knows what the future What about this guy? What about Aaron Rodgers? You know, this story is interesting with Aaron Rodgers Cap because Aaron Rodgers here we just heard from J. D earlier by Rob Tomasky. They got it covers the Packers for ESPN. Says that's a 5% chance that he returns Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay. This relates to the bears a lot of ways because Aaron Rodgers have been such a Ah, great pro, A terrific player. Hall of Fame if he walks away from the game today, But just from the Packers standpoint, cap It comes down to this If you're Mark Murphy, we don't talk about Murphy enough because we always look at good income, says the general manager. So if you're Murphy what's more important to you? Franchise guy like Aaron Rodgers or Good Costa's a GM Because maybe it comes down to those two. You cannot allow player to tell you to fire your GM, especially when said GM has actually had success now large part because of that guy, I get it. I got you can't allow players to tell you You gotta fire the GM. No. Sorry. Not gonna happen. That the MBA, huh? That's usually what happens. The MBA I I'll be stunned. If that happens, my friend. Here's the guy here in Aaron Rodgers, that is the franchise. See, Here's the problem with the Packers. The Packers could say all they want about the Bears. That's your resume. You eat the bear. So who doesn't great? You meet the Bears. Great. Your resume should be trying to win a Super Bowl championships. It's amazing how much of underachieving franchise the Packers are. You're winning NFC North Championships. Great. What about Super Bowl championships? How about winning the conference? They don't do that, because when they get to the big time to the playoffs, when the lights are the brightest, they fail the Packers, they failed. And so, But Aaron Rodgers is not always the reason why you see there were lost Key tweet. I'm sure you saw this right over the maybe Thursday or Friday how the Packers have Drafted the last 11th round picks. None of them have been defensive players. What the hell is that? What's that You're not going to give the best to her and Rogers Now the best is not always a first round draft pick but least try help the guy hold on a second. I got to push back..

"This team is they're just good. And what Tom Brady at the helm, They rose to the top here. Needle the officiating stuff. I think there's some erroneous, sloppy, lazy takes. It had cost the Chiefs the game full. That was a horrendous display by almost everybody involved with the Kansas City Chiefs. That's right. They didn't execute because they were sloppy with their hands, and they made mistakes and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you give them another shot, they're going to take advantage of it. And the cheese didn't have any answer to Ignatius at 30. To why in the world would you even entertain a call for Russell Wilson? If you're the Seattle Seahawks, because I think if he's not there, you're not winning five games. He's one of the five best quarterbacks in football. He's steady. He's never hurt a never in trouble At times for some, he's a little corny. Give me corneas long as you're winning at me Corny or give me death fear Tiki and Tierney. How did what's happening? How you doing today? Take it, Terri. Ready, G 00 and we're coming in from our studios here. On this Thursday. The Rocket Morgan studio when he needs certainty the home buying process with a loan that fits your life, Rocky 10. Let's see Super Bowl on Monday. Russell Wilson on Tuesday Russell Wilson on Wednesday and Russell Wilson on Thursday. Here, take this thing. Is quickly coming off the rails every day feels a little more. Ominous every day. The relationship feels a little more broken and busted. We got problems here with Russell Wilson and Seattle. Yeah, this doesn't seem like it's going to just go away with a conversation. Between Russell Wilson and the head coach and general manager, maybe even the ownership structure. I mean, who knows what's gonna happen here, Beatty, But Russell Wilson just he can't look, I understand his frustration. And if I was him, and I'm seeing Great quarterbacks around the NFL get teams built around them, and they have all the pieces that they need, and and it feels like they're legacies. Air getting improved every single year because, remember, he pointed out. This is my legacy, right? As what? You clearly know what he's focused on. You got Aaron Rodgers at 37 38 years old, winning the league MVP. It just feels like everybody else is moving forward Tom Brady winning championships and latter ages and Russell Wilson's kind of stuck right. And if you go back and you look at the last couple of years, haven't they all felt the same right? They all feel like The same thing happened. Russell Wilson has a quasi M V P type season or at least half of it, starting your ending, which everyone you wanna pick, but the team is never quite good enough to be really viable for a championship. And if if you're Russell Wilson, you kind of tired of it writes like, Dude, How many times How long am I going to stay on this hamster wheel? Before we actually start creating a winner around me who have been paid 100 and whatever million dollars over his career, But the only difference is that this year I could attribute a lot of their their failures to Russell Wilson. Good point. Very good point about. That's true because every other year was their defense isn't quite right. They don't have a running game. Dude, they got a good receiver and Tyler Lockett, but that's it. And who else? Who else you scared for in that offense, So, yeah, you're right. That's the one difference, which makes it really interesting that he chose this year. Start to bring about it. And if I'm the Seattle Seahawks, I think I'm very heavily saying to him Look in the mirror us. Look in the mirror. That's what we said. Yes, that's for sure. Yeah. You know, you don't know how they'll handle their their franchise quarterback? I don't know. I I don't know how Russ takes criticism. You know, I remember back in the day when, when totally different sport, but but some other players, actually, I think you'll like this. Yeah. You look at Derek Jeter and Russell Wilson. Yeah, and both were basically flow this on the field and spotless off the field. And I remember when they went for that less contract with Derek and Cashman was like, Hey, listen, You know the fit this one. The defensive metrics were really, really first started to, uh Be thrown around and and and they pointed out is lack of your quickness and suddenly bowls he used to get two with his eyes shut their fun and finding the outfield grass and instead of his mitt On GDR harbored real resentment to the point where it fractured their relationship, and it was never the same Now, I don't know is Russell Wilson a similar type of person. Might be he might be. He's been very private up until the last years. So you know, you know, But then again when Derek was playing, there was an instagram. But I still sense even if there was, I still think Derek would have been detached from that coach sport you do. D. J was in the cut man whose look still stay. He was legendary acid. Loki Legendary, leaving baskets in the limo about his legendary is against Chip. They think, Don. Who is it? Somebody new? I'm sure. But but with Russell Wilson, I don't know how he would die. This is a guest. I think. That he would be turned off. Very offended and almost redirect any honest critiques that come his way. I believe that he would talk his way around that you mean and then kind of repositioning and put it out. Put it in somebody else's doorstep. Yeah, that's interesting, You know? Do you think that that's Ah, Fair instinct? That's I don't I don't know. Um, you know, because here's the thing, BT quarterbacks Like when they've when they've really achieved in there, you know, top line and you know, and they're confident in that they know it. You know it. Everybody else around them knows that the Tom Brady's of the world the M. Rogers of the world. You have the success. The MVPs. Um every anything you need to back it up Criticism doesn't bother you at all. Because you're because you see it, as in A catalyst to make you better or or or or fault that you can somehow fix, but I want. I don't know I can't. I don't get the sense with with Russ. Like, why can't you get a sense where the Russ how he would react to criticism. Andre May be. The biggest issue is now we're starting to hear some criticism for Russell Wilson. Really, for the first time in a really long time, then we know he's an overachiever. When he came out of college, and he was 1/4 round draft pick. And who was the guy that they paid out there? I can't remember they gave was game a bunch of money. Cobb was no. No quarterback. No, no, not cops and old quarterback, one of those guys who banked and did nothing did nothing. And he's and he wanted to keep on the job first. Matt Flynn, Matt Flynn, Matt Flynn. Thank you D cell, um But Matt Flynn want Katie was Russell Wilson was just like, all right. Maybe we'll try something on this kid, right? And he over achieved and coming out of camp we started here and Russell Wilson's gonna win this job. Russell Wilson's gonna be the starting quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, and I remember at the time saying That's cool story, you know, Lower second round draft pick from Wisconsin baseball player, but I mean, we're gonna have a couple of decent years. Matt Flynn just isn't good enough. We kind of knew that already. But you know Russell Wilson, he'll be in the league for a couple years, and then they'll draft somebody else in the first round, and that will be their guy. Now. Here we are. You know, nine years later, and Russell Wilson has been a stud and he's trending. Even He's got work to do to be in the Hall of Fame quarterback right. He's already got the huge contract and You know the person A and the accolades and the prestige of being a superstar in the NFL, But what is he actually done? Right when you when you go back and look at it other than when that one Super Bowl, which a lot of people will credit to the run game and the defense? Yeah, until he's at that point where, if he wants to be viewed in this category with Aaron Rodgers of the World and the Tom Brady's with world, um he's gotta be able to lift teams not just like statistically..

"I wouldn't fear no, actually thinks you're okay. She but she left your heart. She didn't take your heart. No, no, no, She's still there. She just doesn't reside here. But did you have to did you have to cut your around the horn victories in half and give her half of your realm? Adornment 240. Well, yeah, but that's the case. And Woody Paige would have, like, nine victories, right? Yeah. Yeah. Tenuous thing If we if we hung out like that, I would be back on Friday. We didn't talk it certainly about your Russell Wilson yesterday and real quick. Here is what I said about that. We think it's not a big deal. But think about this. Wilson in the homes started their careers the same. What In their 2nd and 3rd years as a starter, two Super Bowls and 11 of them. Wilson hasn't gone the last six NFC title years. What are we thinking? If my homes doesn't go to any of the next six a F C title games Something has got really, really wrong in Kansas City, so that's kind of how we should look at that Wilson there. Well, you can say is is more homes the next Tom Brady of the next Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, right. Yeah. And what do you think Russell was trying to say to him? What's that? What do you think Russell Wilson was trying to say, because he doesn't normally say anything. Yeah, he certainly didn't sell. I'm not about love Seattle on the farthest thing from my mind that was not his answer. You get a big smile and practically thank depressed question. Um, I don't know, because it's off. It's certainly that that you know you watch the way he's got receivers. He's got Chris Carson. They moved the ball. They score 30, but they give up 30. I mean, I think maybe he wants a better defensive team. But it's not like that teams in shambles. That seems pretty good. Just feels like management is never truly believed in Russell Wilson. Even though please give him a chance when they signed Matt Flynn from Green Bay and Pete's Pete Still, after a big free agent signing gave Russ that job, so he believed in him, then It's just weird to watch the game plans sometimes because this the first year they sort of let Russ Cook Because the other years it was defense and run the football and then Russ, help us out late in the fourth quarter, and that's when they want And now people are probably saying Okay, rustle through his 600 passes this year, and how do we do? You know, we need to go back to what we used to be. So I don't know There's there's not very many quarterbacks. You end up happy in this league. I mean, if you think about him just to win the Super Bowl and what he had to do a year ago, so nobody really ends up happy, which is, which is kind of a sad state of affairs. Yeah, he doesn't end his career in Seattle, but then nobody ends their career. The exception of war, you know, Elway did, but he limped off. He couldn't play anymore. Nobody else has that Indian. Yeah, slip off in the Super Bowl. Hey, we'll be watching on. You know what? As a show of support, I'm not gonna watch around the horn today or tomorrow. I'm going to give up back strong Friday. Yeah, I will. Thank you, Tim. All right. That's Tim Cowlishaw, Dallas morning news columnist and starve around the horn contribute. Yeah, I didn't realize that when you know if you get a divorce than that person might take some of your around the horn victories. They're gonna gas there. Let's take a break here. Take a break. No. Look, Barry. Why? What kind of grimaces do I have on the other side? Erica, We'll take a break back after this. Oh, Mm hmm. "This is the Pony Express. Here's Andrew Philip Pony. Some good college basketball games going on right now. Number six, Texas is tied in overtime with Oak State Oklahoma State escaped. Cutting him will probably be the first pick in the draft. He's a very versatile Jack of all trades player. I don't know. I don't really have him pegged for superstardom. It's not a good year for college basketball. The pandemics made it so hard. You could. North Carolina play in about 35 minutes. Neither one of those teams have much going on right now. In fact, North Carolina will make the tournament Duke's very much up in the air. Would be surprised if the committee gave them the benefit of the doubt because that's what they do. But Duke's had a very poor year. The games that Cameron So that game is in the Marquis Spot. Six Eastern three Pacific. Day before the Super Bowl. No one really cares. I was watching ST Louis Place ST Bonaventure. The A 10. And Both of those teams are, I think good enough to make the tournament. What? ST Louis hadn't played a game in 34 days. Like, what are we doing here? Teams going whole months without games the whole month. More than a month. So that that NC double a tournament. It's all gonna be in Indianapolis. Gonna be very strange. Gonzaga and Baylor or both. Tremendous Michigan. Got off to a red hot star, but they haven't played In weeks. Like to bet on college basketball, but it's been a total crapshoot. It's a coin full of every game. Talking about Tom Brady and whether or not His History of the Patriots in the way they won with SPI geh in those things. Always questions about Bella checking whether or not he was playing by the rules if that hurts Tom Brady's legacy. Is that negatively affect Brady? And is it can you still call him the best? I still do. I still do. I feel like The Patriots won enough after SPI Geh in what Brady is doing this year in Tampa. I don't hesitate to say that he's the best quarterback even though I do feel like the Patriots cheated. And probably one, maybe one extra Super Bowl because of it. 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 Here is Larry in Cleveland on CBS Sports Radio. Hi, Larry. Hey, I don't know about Tom Brady talked with above. You mentioned the situation where drew but so and I'm breather when Coach Bo Checkmate decision there's no time to the back in Seattle. With the Seahawks assigned a a free agent quarterback Matt Flynn there once and they draft a rookie quarterback thing was Russell Wilson. With coach Carroll Take that chance of Basie. I give Carol. I give Carol big points for that for that, too, because same same principle. I think most coaches would say Well, even though Russell Wilson might be better we just signed this quarterback. Let's give him a shot and see how it goes for the first few games and then Maybe halfway through the season. I'll take full it out and put Wilson and if it doesn't work out, But he said No, he said, No. This guy is good enough to play right now. I don't care where we picked him. I don't care what we signed this guy. For I'm going with Wilson. Yeah, I think that's I'm honestly, that's the That's the number one thing on Pete Carroll's resume. For me. It's that decision. They real quick to Andrew Talk about Tom Brady and let you go. I think what Judge would give the coach areas from credit because he loves the football ground. Still deep back there with you Touch Bird with Big Ben in them. You know him to make the adjustment to with very what do you think he would need to do Major team offensive better. They did both made judgments. And the same to you, Andrew Antonio Brown. He had the injury. Is he gonna play tomorrow or not? He is. I know he's questionable, but he was a full participant in practice. No. One Antonio Brown and what the Super Bowl means for him and potentially getting another contract next year. I would be shocked if he didn't play if he doesn't play. If he doesn't get a helmet, he's gonna blow a gasket. I could tell you that right now, So I anticipate will be out there. How much he plays is a good guess, because Look, Scotty Miller made a huge play The Johnson kid from Minnesota. Think isn't up in comer. What I know we played in the first game and was very quiet down the stretch. Antonio Brown the four games he started and finished five touchdowns. He didn't He didn't finish the Saints game. He didn't play in the NFC championship game, the final three regular season games and the playoff game against Washington. Four games, five touchdowns. I think you'll be a factor on Sunday. So one of the reasons not not not near the top one of the reasons why I like Tampa Bay to win the game. Jamie's in Texas. He's on CBS Sports Radio. Hi, James. We're doing there, man. Hey, look, I'd like to say that I don't think Tom Brady's a changer known it all. I think that little checking craft I got all this going on. You've got to remember who the big phrases of better check is Jimmie Johnson from an out of Cowboys. Look at their own, make up my own. They went to nothing. System owner took charge. Okay,.

"We like a lot. You know when when you have a player for a season. He's kind of given you a chance to see what he's about, and there's a little bit of an audition there. But the same audition takes place for us. He's getting a chance to see. Hey, This is how they do it here. This does this fit me. Does this head coach does this position? Coach? Is this a place? I feel comfortable plan And so a lot of times, people would say, Well, why would you do that for a year and that's invaluable for both sides. It's he's speaking the truth right there. J. When you talk about the audition for both sides, and they, he called him a young prospect. So right there that tells me was Shawn's thinking. And look, He didn't play him in one of the reasons that he didn't plan it because he didn't want others to see him become a better quarterback. And then all of a sudden that plays into Jamie's Winston's decision making moving forward because he's a free agent. And you know how that goes. Somebody will throw a bag of money and after five games, much like they've done in the past, with Other players that have played well in the National Football League for short period of time. I'm really excited to see if there's been a drastic improvement and the way that he is going to play this year upcoming right Because I also then I wonder. Okay, well, I see what Tom Brady's doing. Bruce Arians and I see what Jamis Winston do it Bruce areas, But I wonder how much better of a quarterback coach Sean Payton is then Bruce areas, right. So like I want to see the evolution and where it can go. Think about think about a short sample size of quarterbacks like Teddy Bridgewater that was put on display cashed in with the Carolina Panthers. Think about Matt Flynn. Small sample size and Green Bay. With Seattle for big money to Pete Carroll realized that do can't play and then you talk about a guy like Kevin Cobb a several years ago, corn on the cob played great on the Andy Reid in the next thing, you know, he goes Arizona. They realized can't play s. So you don't want to put Jameson that situation if you see him. Every single day and, you know Guy right there. He's gonna be special. Don't say anything. The one thing J. I would say, though, if you heard that comment from Sean Payton, he kind of talked about him like if I would just close my eyes and said He was talking about Jamis Winston coming out of Florida State right now, he was talking about him like he was a college prospect that a guy that's been in the league since 2015. Well, That's why, he said he's a young prospect. He's young suspect right well, because he's on the team he's not playing. He's a young prospect for us. We got a Understand him. He has to understand the way we do things. We in our mind is as fans We see the 30 interceptions and however many fumbles, So the first thing we think of is he can't play. We also remember the negativity that he put itself in whether it was the issue with the uber driver, whether it was his issues at Florida State with the crab legs and in the young lady. We think of that That's all self inflicted. No, it is all self inflicted. But we think of those things Shine them are thinking of that right now because he's basically on their team. They only you're looking at him. Spend the football. They're not paying attention to the 30 interceptions. They're paying attention to fixing the 30 interceptions. Yeah, I also say, lastly, people mature in life. I think What happens is when those things happen with Winston. It's just like a scarlet letter. That's never going away from here. But Winston is actually said I'm engaged now I'm settled down. I'm a different person. But for whatever reason, J. All we want to do is just continually bring those things up. Well, because we only remember what you've done lately, right? And that's the last thing that we remember about him. But he hasn't. There's been nothing that's been said from Jamis Winston this entire year. I love that. That means he's going to work. No question about it. We are presented by progressive insurance are questioning the morning the unsung heroes for both teams and one of them. Doesn't wear a jersey He wears a suit and you've never heard of him. "I am a Mets fan. All right, anyway, though, Matt the floor was asked if and Raj would be on the team next year because you heard some reports that the rands showed heavy interest before making the deal for Matthew Stafford. Here is back before talking about his QB one and elope. Is QB one for the remaining future. Is that a trick question? Absolutely. There's there's no doubt about it. I mean, you're talking about the guy that is gonna win the the MVP of the league like we're not in this position without him. So, um I couldn't be happier with just not only his performance, but how he he let our football team If you remember the Schefter talking point from last week on get up. The coaching staff definitely wants him back if he wants to come back, so that falls in line there. But he said others in the organization didn't name anyone. But you would think would be Brian Goodykoontz. Right Drafted Jordan. Love maybe doesn't want Aaron Rodgers back for whatever those dumb reasons are. So let's hear from Brian Goodykoontz, who says that Rogers is the Packers quarterback. Moving forward. This year was a Special year didn't finish like we wanted to finish, but I think I think everybody's you know purely Um, you know, motivated to get back and I think like I said, I don't think there's anything that we have to do. Um, he's uh, he's our quarterback, and he's our leader. All right. So I expect the Raj to be back in 2021. Rogers has three years left on the deal. You did draft Jordan Love Not only draft him traded up to get him in the first round. So how long you planning to sit? Jordan Love, who is scheduled to join us on the show tomorrow? By the way. Right, Get it Princess. He has no problem with sitting Jordan love for multiple years before plying him. Let's listen up. I've you. Jordan has a very talented prospect that we're really excited about developing and I know that maybe that's not the norm to have quarterbacks it for for a long time, but we way certainly believe in that. Um, I go through my history here of the Rainbow Packers. Whether it was, you know, Matt, Hassle Buck and Aaron Brooks and the way we developed those guys and always feeling good about having a guy. Have some happened to Brett back in those days or even we had Matt Flynn with with when Aaron was here, that that if we needed to go to somebody else because of injury, or or anything else that we were able to do that So we believe in that this probably won't be the first time we draft a quarterback and try to develop on because we just think it's such an important part of the game. If you look at the two teams were playing for the championship this year, and the four teams that were in the final four, so to speak, and that you can understand the importance of developing quarterbacks, so We're gonna put a lot of stock into that We're gonna.

"That that's like those guys did. I mean, honey here head, Nicky. He came in man. He was I mean, my God wanted game, and I mean, just he was just incredible second roll. Um I just don't think our coaches is the head coach. I think he is a defensive. Genius on On day and second of all. Or a third of all, Um, what do you think about our line? I mean, if you are quarterback do you think we get enough protection for him and then for running back, you know, so I'll leave it at that knowledge, you guys Thank you. I love you guys. Thank you. Thank you. We love you back. Wow. So there's not a lot of points. Um, yeah, I mean, chat him. He's been a basically a backup quarterback. With the exception of a couple stands. He did play. Bit. Miami did nice job coming in and replacing Pat Mahomes. Against Cleveland. Uh Heh, Nikki, the young quarterback out of Redskins camp. I thought he did a really good job in the game he played against Tampa phenomenal game You play now starting to worry about. I mean, I was watching Tampa's defense something and you guys can't cover anybody. Now they've played better lately, but That game was like the Redskins have guys run it open and completing passes and I thought the Broncos offensive line improve some this year. Do you think they're still you still? I mean, who's gonna be your right tackle? This year's Juwan James, you know is he gonna opt in? I don't know to the Broncos want him? That's xcom. Interesting to see it's George Payton will be analyzing. Some of those moves, too. But if you look at the other positions, bowls obviously had his best year in his career. Adult riser played hurt quite a bit, but appears to be solid. It left guard He had a rookie who played all 16 games and Lloyd Cushion bury the third. You had you had the you had right guard. You had the kid they signed from the Lions glass cow. Get banged up a little bit. I think he's solid right tackle. We don't know. I thought they were better this year. That they made improvements. As the year went on. I thought they were able to run the ball some I mean, can you get better? Sure. Do they have to get better? Absolutely. Was there too much pressure and dew lock? You bet. Part of that. Part of that is You know, you got to get the ball out of his hands. You gotta get the ball out of his hands quicker. Which you to me. You do with some wide receiver screens and in other creative ways that we from time to time, See? And that's that's you know, that's up to Pat Shurmur. You know the amazing thing about Hi, Nikki is he wasn't on anybody's radar. I believe he was their number four quarterback. He was a backup in the A F a backup. So they didn't even the judges talent to be good enough to be a starter in the A F. He goes out and plays Tampa Bay in a big game in lit it up before they signed him. I thought he was a bartender somewhere. He was out of the game, and he's from Old Dominion of all places. Not a big football school. It was a four year starter, so he's played a lot of quarterback. That that performance was really inspiring to me and really blew away a lot of people. I hope he earned the chance to at least be a backup next year with that team because he really showed something. How can he do that Week to week? No game. The game's no, No, he can't. On. That's how it is in the National Football League. He reminds me a little bit of Ah, he reminds me a little bit of cow slaughter. His game is game. I was thinking Matt Flynn had that one monster game. I think he runs better than Flint. Yeah, He was really good athlete here. He really would. Athlete Matt Flynn had one monster game. And got a huge contract out of it. Maybe even two. He? No. He replaced Aaron Rodgers. And the last game of the season is the Packers had home field advantage wrapped up. He threw for, like 430 some yards? Yep, and he got a three year deal out of that game with Seattle got a 30 million Believe 26 million over three years. 20 Okay, 26 million game an extra 4 26 million and then wound up getting beat out in training camp. He never started for the Seahawks. Wasn't Russell Wilson? Yes, we'll beat him out. And then then you get one more deal somewhere. Somebody signed up somewhere. Yeah, I think he's signed again. Not for that kind of money. My sign E think he sounded the Raiders at one point. He just was. I mean, he made a lot of money, and you'd say at best. He was just sort of a journeyman quarterback, but what it shows you is one game. You can't. You can't put a lot on one game. No, that's for sure. John and Denver joins us 10 20. On care way more job pulling boys and Gavin Morning. Um, I think the Bronco fans as an outsider, I think you guys should just take a chill pill and these very patient and give Drew a lot. The job. Just won't back off. It's only been a year, you know, be very patient with us, right? They just won't enjoy painting from Minnesota in a front row seat to the cut Cousins experiment. How'd that work out Minnesota? I don't think that will play out the chute. And you know, you know, keep the money. And I think this league is getting younger and faster every year as far as the Broncos high up because you know John Elway. Maybe next year he's done. Maybe Joe else is gone. But the one name I haven't heard, which is sitting out there, biding his time He stayed Manning and they I know you hate it when I say that, I think sometimes the NFL six but that play flag in the NFC championship game came right from the back pocket of CBS. Thanks a lot another today. Thank you. Yeah, that was the That was an unfortunate call for the Packers. I mean, clearly clearly. Was holding. The issue that I would have with that is they've let stuff go the entire game. I mean, the Green Bay receivers. We're getting mugged from time to time. And Over six penalties called that entire game. But I can't you know, you go back and look at that. And that's the same dude on coverage they get beat on the late in the first half. Scotty Miller. That's that's King will get beat on the opening drive by Mike Evans..

That was the first touchdown of the game of 15 yarder to Mike Evans to take the seven zip lead will get into the Chiefs and the Bills. Warriors play the Wolves tonight. We're going to that a little bit later. So yesterday I was doing the national pregame show on ESPN with a guy who was from Cleveland and before the game, he said. If Green Bay loses this game, all the talks going to start about Aaron Rodgers. Leaving the Packers and I went no way. I was like he's the MVPs got 48 touchdowns, five interceptions. That's not gonna happen. Sure enough, right after the game, Aaron Rodgers, in in an emotional press conference, says, I'm not sure that sends everybody into a frenzy. Chef there comes on today and says he could get out. Even though there's a $31 million captain and a down cap year. He's got an out out there next year. What did you make of all the talk after the game that Roger's somehow was gonna leave Green Bay? First of all my spies told me about your appearance on a network radio yesterday and something you said And said show which what I say from tae bit of a debate between us and a little over. Nice. Well, you sound you sound You sound annoyed. No, I don't sound anything. I sound fine. I'm not your title. Your opinion. It's an open free society we live in. We can have a little Evade. But, John, you are a grossly uninformed, ignorant slut that out to you or something now, anyway, come on, people react. Do you think the Green Bay Packers were gonna trade Aaron Rodgers take their to take of off their team. How would you possibly offer in return and just Shawn Watson is one thing and we'll get into Matthew Stafford and I was watching Matthew Stafford. Video all Saturday night. By the way, right after I watched the movie one night in Miami, which is accepted. Want to watch that? It's absolutely extraordinary. Yes, I would watch it again right now. If you wanna watch it will fire up a zoom lens. As the gold bar loved it. If you're a sports fan, it doesn't matter. What you are. If you're a fan of human being, it's a great great film. Just unbelievable anyway. Um, I mean, what do you expect? I mean, there's gonna be a lot of quarterbacks available this off season. But you know Aaron Rodgers availability, which I don't think it is even a discussion point. Which would be huge. I mean, it would it would. It would Even in his age that he's at now when he had a birthday on December the second when he turned 37 You know if Rogers is Watching Brady play. I think Aaron could play and he didn't play much his first few years. Obviously, he sat behind Farber for actually for three years anyway, I they're not going to trade him. I mean, there's just no way they will trade him. Even if he asked for a trade. You just say I'm sorry. We're not trading you that that is not going to happen. I don't know what he's upset about. The whole Jordan love thing to me. Is overblown. You and me of anything prove a watch in the 40 Niners play this year. Is you need a good backup quarterback, and I could go back to You know when, when Aaron got hurt earlier in his career member, Matt Flynn and that disaster he actually played decently for them. But he got paid in Seattle a couple of years ago in Clear Mac, and that bears Monsters of the midway crushed him on the Sunday night and he's limping around when Anthony Barr picked him up and planted him and broke his collarbone. Season's over. Cancel the year in Green Bay. You know, it's what timeto one of the brewers going to spring training. So you gotta have a quality backup. You can't pay the back up a lot. So if you get one of the end of the first round, little cheaper, and so I understood that Jordan love move is not only a young guy, depending on where Aaron goes, and you gotta change in philosophy, you know? Uh, It was really, really sad. You know, the The gentleman that I'm trying to join a blank on his name. Now, the guy that the GM of the Packers the draft to Ted Thompson, Ted Thompson passed away at age 68. You know, he's no longer there. How do you pronounce the new GM's name? Good and crunched. Yeah, You can get him coached s I, but he's not gonna trade. I mean, there is a difference in philosophy there. Obviously, McCarthy's gone, But he feuded with McCarthy got along so well with Ted Thompson. Ted's You know he would literally roll over in the grave. But they traded Aaron Rodgers. You don't ask a quarterback, you know, right after you miss a chance, first time in his life that he hosted the A F C championship game at Lambeau. He woke up that morning yesterday morning thinking I'm going to the Super Bowl and I'm gonna deal is gonna be a state farm at against the Patrick price and then to have it go so terribly wrong right away. You're not 28 10. Minutes into the second half, so his emotions or spinning I'm sure he wonders being a competitor. Why We didn't go forward on fourth down and well, you weren't very good in the first three down, so he didn't trust you there. But whatever. But you can't ask a quarterback about his situation..
