"I think he ultimately will be a better defensive player than macros like from a pure skill set standpoint. Now, like I had alluded to, like, Matt Chris might just be better at knowing his shortcomings and how to sort of hide them than somebody like a Shawn would, but I don't think that it's that far out of the realm of possibility that they see at least what they have with them and it ends up working out fine enough. You see what my worry again is like, you mentioned it's good enough, but you're still trying to win a cup. Ultimately you're trying to win with this the remnants of this core. And I just think that doesn't still do it. You still aren't there with that. And it's an easy thing to exploit if you're the opponent. And I there's just something to it. Again, he could fit in well, you know, at some point, but I still think you're still trying to win a company. I don't know if that's good enough when you're playing the lightning or even the islanders or those teams. But who knows? That's something that might not come tell down the line. Another way you could look at it is their penalty killed the last few years, has been among the least best. So even with some regression, because before they'll trot out, really won't be that different, right? Because they'll still be Berger on a marchand as one. And then you'll put Curtis Lazar with Wagner, Fredrik, somebody like that. Another fourth line guy, so you could say that unless the defense just completely plummets. With some understandable regression, there's still probably a top half penalty kill, whether that's enough to see you through deep into the playoffs as a, I guess, a different conversation. But they have been good at least they weren't like a bottom third penalty kill. And then they got worse from a defensive standpoint. So I guess that's one spins on there. You could say the penalty kill is back, not better than ever. But what is back and better than ever? Is is bet online. All eyes are on the gridiron as teams are back on to start another football season..

We've had a show in the past that talked about building replicable pot processes, Tio implement systems and processes. We've talked about. Ah, ah, a variety of issues taking a business that is a family business and how to, you know, move it along to the next generation. We've had a number and all those episodes are available by going to m y b radio dot com. For tonight's edition. We have a very in fact we're going to go to the actual, the actual name of it, and that is players, producers and pretenders in the workplace. So rather, ah, it's a very intriguing topic over area players, producers and pretenders in the workplace. So with that, nor my open to you and I ask this follows No. How would you describe each of these, Um players if you will, but you know each of these types And you know and feel free to give even examples of how they are in the workforce and, of course, guidance on how to interact with each of these type of individuals. Glad to you, Jack. But first of all, let me just take a moment to set context in our work. We identify the best practices that differentiate high performers from average producers. You ask how high performer what makes them effective? They will readily tell you However, when you observe what makes him so successful, it is usually not when they tell you how I performance stand to focus on their product, technical knowledge, their influence or or selling skills or personal charisma. Quality and depth of their network and their ability to t build strong relationships. All of those are important. That is not what differentiates players from producers and pretenders. The single most important differentiator between high performers and average producers is the timeframe or time stand within which they think And work or plan and work. In other words, I performers plan their work and work their plan very differently than average producers, and that relates to the longest task in which they're involved, which could be building a sustainable And scalable business. Or even of full and productive life. And the way in which They manage short, complex tasks. So specifically. And to answer your question. What differentiates players, producers and pretenders. Players have a vision of what they're looking to create. And they shape the environment to realize the invasion. When you ask a player what it is they're looking to achieve. They would typically described what theywant to a competition over the next 135 10 20 years or more. They're looking at not what they are going to T g Trans actually in the next day or week or month. What they're going to to realise strategically over time. They also differentiate themselves by the the thought and effort they put into what they do Daily weekly monthly quarterly annually. Their opportunity providers. Producers are opportunistically driven each case new products, new markets, new services. New ideas. The challenge for producers is they can be effective. However. What they're looking to achieve. Khun B easily disrupted By changes in the environment or by a loss of focus on their own part. Pretenders have not yet recognized the maturing is learning to live without illusions. We live in a Web himself to see And the cost to them, and the people around them is enormous. I wouldn't draw on two examples. Sure layers that I think. Probably all of our audience can relate to that. The first is Warren Buffett. Warren Buffett turned 90 last week. Handout. Is arguably probably the greatest investor in our lifetimes on and what was interesting is that that Had Warren Buffett has learned not only to thrive in business. But also in life. And and that's exhibited by That the people with whom he surrounded himself and what people say about him. And recently Warren Buffett was asked to. What did he attribute his success? And he said, first and foremost, choose work that you love that you're passionate about. Because it gives you a reason t fully engaged at each and every day. The second is surround you yourself with people you care about and who are better than you The third and one of my favorite is laugh a lot. One of my goes east. A job is to have 16 Hardy last today. That's one of things I enjoy about being with you is you make me laugh the way Well, what? What number are you up to today? Well, I'm I'm a good way along so hopefully further along, all right. We'll try to get your mother left it right but ended his interview. Yeah. Ah! And The fourth is that he said, wake up every morning a grateful for the day ahead and finding ways to enjoy those are great. God. Great piece of advice for every aspect of our lives, business and and perfect and personal. But the other person I'd like T to quote is Jeff Bezos and at When Jeff Bezos wealth, personal wealth reached 163 billion he was interviewed in The Wall Street Journal. And he was asked to. What did he attributed success and he saved a couple of things that I felt really stood out. The first of which was everything Start small. He said. When we started Amazon in 1994, we're just a small number of people. And look what they created. And the second thing you said it is I have three priorities, then inform what I do. Each and every day..

"What's happening. Thanks. Journalists Post mortem on the trade deadline. Of course, if Scott knew it was a tremendous job at Scott Miller bbl. National Major League Baseball columnist for Bleacher Report is covered sport for a long time and done it very, very well. And he's down in Southern California. So obviously we want to get into the West specifically what the Padres did as they were the big movers and got Mike Levinger and others. So let's get into that conversation. Certainly how it affects the Giants. He joins us courtesy. Of the human guests in Hi, Scott. Good to talk to you. How are you? Good. How about you guys wear hanging in there, man? We're hanging in there. Yeah, very good. Let's let's just jump straight to the Padres. What they did give us your thoughts on what they did. They were obviously J parlor in company with the big movers and, well, the Dodgers obviously look like they're gonna win the division the top to make it obviously, and the Padres seemed to solidify themselves in at number two whole, at least and maybe for even a deep run in the playoffs. Yeah, I think I've still got her to go from what All they did Cheese Like more moves, 25 or 26. Players moved in and out, and it's significant. They changed eight or nine pieces at the major league level. And the initial return it. It all looks really good. You know, they've been is you guys know they've been rebuilding the last 45 years? Uh, they've got a loaded farm system with all kinds of young prospects. And they were targeting TTO win this year, but realistically, the way they finished last year, it looked like you know, this year would be too soon that maybe next year they start to win, But, you know, combination. I mean, Fernando Teddy's Jr. Of course. I mean, if he could stay healthy, that's his biggest thing, because he certainly looks like a generational type of talent, and you know the rest of it. I mean, they put together offense this year that's thumping and Pitching was what they needed. But our intention was a weak spot. So striking for Clavin, Jer. He was the biggest difference maker. In my opinion, starting pitching wise that was on the market, and, you know they were able to pull a deal for him. And that really beefs up their starting pitching. You know, you've got 11. Sure. Now you got to Nelson. Let Matt Chris Paddock falls who are pretty good move down a notch in the rotation. Zach Davies has been their best. Pitcher So far, he's off center number four, Um most interesting thing. They swapped out pretty much their whole catching tandem. They've now got Aaron Nolan or Austin Ola from Seattle, Jason Castro from Anaheim. Uh, they shipped out Austin Hedges who just was, you know, could not hit And you know, that'll be the big thing. Go forward, but, yeah, they got it going on there. It's a close knit team. It's a It's a fun team right now. They pretty much don't look like they have many weaknesses. As you mentioned. The Dodgers, obviously far in away remain the favorite. But, um, overall potteries their their team to watch. Interestingly, Scotty, the Dodgers didn't do much that they actually traded Ross Stripling, which was interesting. The Yankees didn't make any moves. You know, the big market teams just would not get involved in this pandemic trade deadline. The Blue Jays did some things. The Miami Marlins interestingly Picking up Starling Marte. But why do you think I mean, obviously that cheese and Machado and you know the energy But a J. Preller by far of any GM in baseball is all in in a very uncertain world that we're living in. Is it at all the young talent? You spoke, but the Chargers leaving the market going to L. A. Has opened up a spot for them to really maybe capture San Diego the way they haven't done it in a long, long time. So just your thoughts overall on the organization's philosophy and some of these guys they got not just for now, but for the long haul. But they buy far were the most aggressive in a market that is just so much unknown right now. No, You're exactly right. And trailer has proven adapted Trade table. You know, it reminds me a little bit of when he was a new GM. He was hired in August 2014. And that winner is when if you remember, you know, he pulled the trades that he got mad, Captain. Open. Um and several others You traded for Craig Kimbrel, and that blew up that you know, he was very aggressive to try to win. And then when that didn't work he had done load everybody and one key thing that happened. That is, Yeah, they wanted things that didn't work. They signed James Shields, the better pitcher to a five year deal, Therefor said. That didn't work. Aziz, who went to the Chicago White Sox for Fernando teach junior So trailer is he in this ownership by the guard committed the winning and what happened is simply they saw how special this team it is. This year that's developed and you know, decided now go for it. There's been two or three years of frustration. I mean, you know, last year the last six weeks will have South. They fired the manager Andy Green, Manny Machado. You know, lost interest, basically in his last six weeks were pretty bad. Everybody's reinvigorated this year, and that's why they looked at the window. The wind as it is being now, but two other quick things one I said ownership wanted to when they were so frustrated Last year after the year, one of the owners that Chris Bone around Fowler was talking to a season ticket group, and he promised them, he said. If we don't win soon, heads will roll, including Line. Now, if you're an owner, I don't know how your own head rolls that you make other heads roll, but whatever their loved one thing, um But beyond that, you know they like I say they started to win this year and the key thing one reason there's a method to the madness is well, this all looks like wind out, but they think they're just entering their window and Mike Lavender, for example, there's two more years of team control after this year, so they don't have to worry about him being a free agent until after the 2020. Two seasons. Austin Ola the catcher they acquired from Seattle. They got five more years of team control on him. You know Mitch Moreland, who could d h I mean another good move. There's all of a sudden now there's th and the in the National League. Um there's a club option on him next year. It only $3 million, so The on ly rattle player in this whole group is closed or Trevor Rosenthal. The rest of them will all be back. So that's part of the whole method in his madness is, you know, they know they've got all this young talent like Fernando Junior and Chris Paddock that are going to be around for the next 45 years and all of the God people they acquired this weekend. Well, Be there as well. So they're looking at this is about a 45 year thing, not just a big trade deadline to catch and well We're trying to win this year, and they're going to lose a few people theory. Scott Miller's joining US We're talking about the trade deadline. Specifically the Padres of Scott's down in Southern California in regards to the Giants, and I'm just using Fangraphs here, so However, you subscribed to it, but they've got this far as the favorites. Dodgers Padres in the West Braves Phillies in the East Cubs Cardinals in the central If we just play that it could change, But if we just play that that leaves the Brewers Mets Reds Rockies Giants Marlins A CZ faras. The last two spots are concerned again. Birds. Mets Reds Rockies giants Marlon's his team's in it..

Padres Scott Miller Dodgers Giants Southern California GM Manny Machado Austin Ola Seattle Major League Bleacher Report Mike Levinger Matt Chris Paddock Trevor Rosenthal Mets Fernando Teddy Miami Marlins Pitching Yankees Craig Kimbrel

I think that's significant <hes> <hes>. I don't think that that was a factor at all of the rapids in hiring him. I think the factor was easy. Absolute best coach was american experience on the market and he has deep ties to the rapids. <hes> well someone that from arkham just pulling up the head coaches. You know there's a lot of the there's a lot of international representation in here and certainly representation for the latin american communities whether you have wilmer cabrera whose colombian for example and then you know obviously you know. There's a handful full of argentines now throughout the throughout the the league as well. I'm gonna make a possibly really ignorant statement here marcus a white guy i. I'm not sure just looking at him. Whether or not chris armas may be mixed race and then possibly has some you know some would clatter rise arise himself as a person of color. I remember there was an interview a couple years ago. You're right matt chris. Armas is of puerto rican descent and so a person of color but not a person with black heritage. "Real estate this is street talk here's your host Chris Davies welcome back to things really also tonight the older reverse mortgage let's go to the phones and talk to math good morning Matt Chris here what's your question this morning all our credit hi everyone Llera receive it it's so great to hear you on the program I heard you on and off over time that I'm really wonderful work that you do hi so I know I I've seen people really benefit from on the reverse mortgage your and that they have and things like that but you know the interest of like hedging ones opportunity for for additional long term success I was just kind of learning wondering what you think about you know paying for sins of an insurance plan for long term elder care go to first of all I think so much him that you listen to me on the radio and and taking time to call this morning so thank you for that but I I think the question that you ask is is pretty germane in the sense that when we talk about it with mortgages when we talk about long term care insurance policies these all mechanisms to secure our financial future in retirement look the single biggest threat that any person is going to face in retirement the single biggest threat is if somebody falls ill and Medicare or health insurance is we don't cover that illness why not because health insurance is designed only to cover acute care needs and they will not cover long term care needs and by definition long term care needs any need for which the medical community does not have an answer and where it leaves a person is in a situation where they need assistance with activities of daily living someone needs to cook for you clean for you get you out of bed get you in the shower all those things that are done by assisted living nursing homes home healthcare agency is home care agencies none of that stuff is covered in any meaningful way under the Medicare system so where that leaves us is two places number one or actually three paces number one you can pay privately sure you get between three thousand dollars a month to fifteen to eighteen thousand dollars a month for every single month that you're alive yep that can eat pretty much anyone's lunch so then the question becomes well what are my options well the clear option their financial planning industry has come up with is a long term care insurance policy just like a health insurance policy does designed to cover long term care bills that health insurance is not going to cover it is that a good thing to do absolutely you would be struck crazy not to not to look into the whole thing but the real question in long term care insurance is not whether I can afford the premium today to be able to buy the policy the real question in long term care is going to be twenty years from today ten years some today when the premiums have increased maybe they have doubled will I be able to afford the premium but I'm on a fixed income let in light of the answer is yes you have looked at your future income and expenses and you will be able to manage those expenses in your monthly income the budget will allow for that to happen yes you should be buying that policy that every time that I've done any research on this issue I'd say about ten to twelve percent plus ten to fifteen percent of my client base I can say yes you should be looking into this policy that leaves a huge gap for a number of people who cannot afford to buy the long term care policy where then the reverse mortgage becomes one heck of a great way for us to take a look at that and how does that become an option the biggest equity that people have the biggest asset people have the home and many of us thankfully many of us many of my clients by the time they retire they have a house that is pretty much paid for and if the house is paid for we got dead equities sitting in the house senator Chris Morgan says well if you can buy a long term care policy you choose not to buy one if you are worried about uncovered long term care expenses then let us establish a line of credit against the house which line of credit will keep increasing so it's like a information guard if you will that has and when the time comes you use your money and if all the money has run out to you saying I still want to live my life in my own home I don't want to leave the place or I am in a care facility now you can convert your equity in the house into a pool of cash that can be used to cover long term care so your question mark is which is the better way to do it long term care insurance or diverse mortgage and the answer is on the radio without taking a look at the rest of your issues I can identify the these at two possible answers that people have but I won't be able to tell you which might be the best answer for you hope that helps yeah I did that it really does is his business actually for my dad you know he's here he's in his seventies now and I mean he's still doing well but I do know I've seen people that consent at fifteen ten fifteen thousand dollars a month and that's not even your living at home with that special circumstances there are health problems like that so I hi my is a particular planned make that you seem to think works well for most people it might be a look into the long term care plan so for someone like you dad you'd probably be looking at a hybrid policy then your policies that are coming out instead of buying long term care insurance policy where your dad is monthly premiums for as long as he's living he may be a candidate.

"From Principia, Matt, Chris is not your everyday wealth management expert. He's got a different approach. One that I think you should listen to okay so people like me, who are still working, but are. Past what some consider retirement age. What do we do? Well Franken, I think everything starts to the commitment. You have to make a commitment to security. You have to make a commitment to preserve at least some of what you've worked so hard to save up even working for forty fifty years. Some folks that we're seeing will be an actual retirement longer than they were in the workforce. So if they retire, and they had this pile of money this nest egg, this IRA, and that's supposed to then supplement their income for the rest of their life, and they don't know if they're going to die at eighty three or one hundred six we have no idea there has to be an unequivocal commitment to preserving those funds to make those funds last as long as they do which does not mean they need to run out the door. And by the first newly that's got a bonus. And some guy put a good sales job bottom another confused, and don't know what they bought. It also doesn't mean that they should just leave everything in the stock market and basically gamble for the next twenty thirty years. There is a compromise between those two we've perfected over the last ten fifteen years, and most people deserve to see a real methodical difference in how the money is handled and how it's dispersed back to them, right? Chris, we don't have time to. Go to everything right now, but coming up, he's going to be a brand new Chris Berta show here on WJR. Wanna talk about that a little bit. Well, let's go Frank. I'm really excited to be teaming up with you to, to present Michigan. We're called guarding the harvest. No longer as he's looking to beat him. How about that suspension? A was it one that should have occurred team? PTI this series has its Asti nation, by the way, I think the coolest part is just let's, let's see what is going to look and sound and feel like in Saint Louis with the first Stanley Cup final games. It were forty nine years nine hundred eighty met grisly. I mean he's one of Boston's top five or six defencemen hidden even traveled to Saint Louis. So doesn't this offset that to some degree because you can't imagine is gonna play in game three and four hundred even travel with the team Frank Matt Chris right now is in concussion protocol? I think what's going to happen in this game that type of hit is going to carry over. So. Oh like you mentioned birth Stanley Cup final game in Saint Louis. Insight team seventy. So, you know, emotions are going to be running high, I think early on in this game. It's going to get physical. Boston's gonna want some retaliation. Yeah. Game three will Mark the first Stanley Cup final game in Saint Louis and forty nine years. That was made fifty one thousand nine hundred seventy six two loss to the Bruins in game two of the series that Bobby ORR ended in four games with an overtime goal. Stub said the price to get into seven twenty five. The average ticket cost over a thousand with demand outpacing game one in Las Vegas year ago. While there's plenty of excitement for the home team. The blues certainly banged up. Barry, Melrose on sportscenter big loss for the blues guy plays teams taught forward. He's got nine points. He's a guy that is a plus AT can do it offense can do a defensive big loss. Rizek is a top six defense. Those guys are very, very hard to find these really quick moves park. Well, tough loss. Yes, indeed. Meantime, coach Craig Baru bay seventh in NHL history with over thirty one hundred penalty minutes, mostly for fighting wants his team more discipline. Saint Louis only fifty five penalties in the first nineteen playoff games. The least penalized team in the postseason went to the box ten times in the first two games in Boston. This is sportscenter allnight on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. I am Jim Baskerville. There's a three way tie for the lead that the mid way more of the PGA memorial Troy Merritt, fired a six hundred sixty six to grab a share of the lead would come Hyun Lee, and Martin Kamer calmer. And so that limited me to Australia. Hit it in the rough short and then have a go. I see over the green near the bunker on the bunker in pitch backup make par. Wasn't even trying to hit the ball on the green. I was just trying to hit it past the flag and didn't do it predominantly, my, my miss today was left and just say was right. Hopefully, tomorrow, my MRs ABI straight at it. Michael Collins on sportscenter on Tigers regretful whole. Tiger wasn't hitting a lot of fairways to start off with but on that fifteenth, hold. That's second shot going way, left and tiger even said, I had basically the world to the right hand side where I could have missed it when he missed it left. He knew. War, captain, crunch, shakes and swollen gums. Jimmy temecula. That's really well written. That's a really good Email on national cereal day again. I'm not here. Not to do the job. I'm not here. Not to talk sports. Put those are all good points, the shakes the swollen gums man that that will shred through for your mouth. Explain to me if that's the best serial, and it might be how can the best serial be like loading up a bowl of razor blades, Melk on razor blades. I never knew razor blades could taste. So good. I like it. But then again, nothing worth it is easy. Right. Okay. So if I were to play that game if I were to give some lame mount Rushmore of cereal, the crunch would be on it Cap'n crunch. And then topic is what kind of captain crunch. Original crunch berry. Peanut butter work sound like peanut butter. Peanut butter's good. The other day. My son Logan hit me up. He's like, dad. Never see. I never see you drink milk. I never see you drink milk in less. You found a cookie, Mike? That's it son. You busted me. I went into the pantry. Don't tell your mother. He's right about that. All right. So if I had to go cereal. I like that a lot captain crunch was good. I can't even go the other way, quote, healthy cereal. I was there such a thing as healthy cereal. Are there any healthy cereals by grape nuts? That's always a really polarizing topic. People love or hate grape. Nuts. I'll go there. I'll do that. They had had your fun you happy national cereal day. Reggie really good E mail gave you little input in terms of falling. You clones around. Somebody. Also, sent me an Email about Steven Wright asking the question, what the hell what a knuckleballer ever need a PD for. So we know baseball's upon us because there are some tried and true ways to know that very fact number one somebody shows up fat at spring training. Next. Somebody goes down in a really really baseball way. And finally, somebody gets popped for PD's. And yet has no idea how a banned substance happened to find its way into his body which box number one when you NS cesspit is rolled into port Saint Lucie. Looking to be the size of port Saint Lucie. His teammate. Brandon Nimmo check box number two when he missed time because he was puking his guts out after eating some next yard bird. I thought for a minute the mess we're going to check every single box. Instead, we've got the case of knuckleballer, Stephen, right? He informed. The Boston Red Sox that he's going to be out eighty games because he failed a drug test yet. He has no idea how that happened. Our man. Jon morosi was all of that news tweeting that right was suspended after testing positive for growth hormone, releasing peptide to also known as g R P to USA today's Bob Nightingale had this statement from right, quote, although I do not dispute the validity of this test. I was shocked is I've never intentionally ingested anything for performance enhancing purposes. I have fully cooperated with major league baseball, and I will continue to try and identify the source of the result and quote. You kind of like looking for the real killers. Red Sox beat Matt Chris Mason, also out a quote from right? I know the truth and people close to me. No. I wouldn't intentionally do this to try to get an upper hand end quote. Listen baseball players taking the spike or ingesting a pharmacy is nothing new. Neither are the same dudes claiming that they've got no idea how that stuff could have ever worked its way into their body. What is new a knucklehead baller doing it? That's a.

"Here with Chris Alberta from Principia. Matt Chris is not your everyday wealth management expert. He's got a different approach one that I think you should listen to. So the concept that you're five years of freedom. Let's get into some detail on the five year freedom plan idea is to place enormous emphasis on making the next five years be a safe haven for those retirement funds and make sure that when we do start to take money from his retirement accounts. It is done in such a stable and predictable way that there is no more fear of ever running out of money. Look there's a lot coming at us. There's gonna be a presidential election. We don't know what way that will push the market, you have trade problems tariff problems terrorism problems, you name it the market is highly unpredictable, and for those folks that are retiring soon or retired in the last few years that are looking at that nest egg as their paycheck money, which is a lot of them. We need to make sure that we have a very balanced measured approach to making it the next five years without any major snafus. No, big market losses in not having to commit to some long term annuity contract or some very low interest Bank instrument just to get there. There is a way to do it. We have been doing it successfully for years, and we wanna make sure that come five years from now when the markets corrected and things have leveled out we have a new president or maybe the same president and things have calmed down. Then we have a whole lot of options. So the next five years matter a lot, and we don't know, we don't know when the next bubble's gonna burst, right? Correct. You don't know. And this is this is really the proverbial tortoise and the hair. I would rather have a client family that is comprised entirely of tortoises and of Harris, there's no glory to me accumulating wealth, occasionally, we'd rather accumulate wealth and very slow predictable and responsible manner folks, I've gotten to know Chris over the last year, he's the real deal. He's honest knowledgeable, and unlike any other financial planner you've ever met, a real wealth management expert. You ought to yourself.
