"To bring you an emergency show with a terrific cast of guests to discuss one of the most impactful moves of the offseason. Which is the departure of. Julio jones the star wide receiver who spent intel now all of his career at the atlanta falcons. My personal favorite falcon of all time has been traded officially to the tennessee. Titans in exchange for a twenty twenty two second round pick and a twenty twenty three fourth round. Pick the falcons also sent a twenty two twenty three sixth rounder as part of the deal. So we're gonna break down and talk about it in detail. We did have another show on this Golic podcast show yesterday. Also with one of our guest. Gene kelly and also having burchfield along with. Dwi so if you need more analysis on the trade the instant reactions you can check that out. Aca was show away. Well as i feel like. I'm forgetting someone from the show but on hasn't been on here in so long and then you know. Of course the for show he comes back. He goes to the falcons like podcast instead. So i'm very insulted. This is just me being passive aggressive but speaking of audie get. She is here with us at say which way not. How're you doing today. What you guys don't knows. It's actually a civil war going on in real todd in the live. Show the the true rivalry. It's it's even more intense than falcon saints Yeah i know. It's you know the the trades don. I think we saw it coming for a while. I was saying on the on the podcast. It feels like it would have been much worse if we were just blindsided by it and dislike. Oh yesterday no news today. Oh they're trading. Julio jones daniel it'd be like all right now now it's a there was so much talk at nauseam almost to the point of our. Let's let's just get it over with right. We discussed it to death. We'd had a million articles on it. I was going to write an article this week at the trade to hadn't happened yet but luckily did and we can actually talk about something that happened as sad as it is also joining us. We have our director of guest personnel. Evan burchfield at the very easy to remember avenue field on twitter. Evan how're you doing today. i am will. I had to pay homage. Yes julio and last time. I don't break my jerseys out unless it's something special in yeah It's gonna be weird. I think The news is settled in for me. But seeing the falcons playing in nazi eleven out. There's gonna be a little weird but you know it is what it is. It's a business. And i hope. The best form in tennessee in stock. Yeah absolute week. I was i was saying. I also have a julio jones jersey in that read but mine is signed by matt. Brian okay. so is your signed by matt bryant. Evan no but i have a matt. Bryant jersey signed by matt brian. Well i guess. I guess that's acceptable map. Brian was like the nicest guy at that training camp. By the way he stayed for at least ten minutes to sign everyone's jerseys that wanted to have them sides shed at dimap ryan as well as simpson's up sort of oh i sleep in our bed. You know i sleep in the bed with my wash. some sun represents does. He's got them just very depressed. Yeah we've we've missed you. We also have joining us gina. Kelly she is at geeta thomas on twitter. Gina how're you doing today. Well you know. I mean it's not every day. The franchise traded away a future hall of famer and a generational talent at wide receiver. So still kinda wrap my head around it. It's been a very interesting couple days here. Yes it has been a stressful. We thought including friend of the show tori mcelhinney. Thought like you know. I just need to go ahead and take take a break because the julio news is gonna come soon so we gotta get outta here and then of course. It comes on a sunday. Which i think is just rude to everyone who works in sports. Media are sundays. Non not during the football season are supposed to be sacred so you know come on guys why you doing this to us but you know no no consideration for our feelings in this trade. That's that's abundantly clear. So we also have joining us. Eric robinson at underscore eric underscore robinson. Eric how're you doing. Doing okay I've seen better days And it kinda kinda hit home a little bit this morning watching. Julio get off the damn jet in nashville. I tried not to see that. Yeah i say yes. It's pretty tough. It's tough and we'll also have assuming he can Wrestle away from work for a few minutes dave alchoholic himself is going to try to make an appearance at some point during the show as well. So there's a lot we could talk about. There's a lot going to have to get to including what we think about the compensation that's probably what we'll start things off but also you know. How does this impact falcons roster because losing a player of julio's significance is a big deal in terms roster construction and the ceiling for this and also the salary cap implications because those are very important and are one of the keys of the deal so we will definitely get to that we also have a donation coming in from demonte. Twenty four dollars to montana. Thank you so much for your support. Man we appreciate you says. Tired of fans trashing. Julio they're doing it because their feelings are hurt. Obviously we didn't want it to end this way. But that's life grateful for those ten years knowing always be known and remembered as a falcon. Yeah totally agree with you there man. It's always tough to see separation particularly when it's as charged. This one is with negative emotion. And we'll talk about that a little bit but for the most part. I think we all just need to kind of move on. Have a clean break and not get tripped up in a you know a blame game situation because that doesn't really solve anything except maybe making us feel a little bit better but it's temporary doesn't really fix anything so we won't linger on that too long but the first thing. Obviously we're gonna talk about compensation. Because that's the big headline falcons net a twenty twenty two second and two thousand twenty three fourth and i had remarked in the past that this was basically the bare minimum. I would've taken. I don't know why we couldn't have had the twenty twenty three fourth via twenty twenty two fourth. But that's what it took to get the fourth. I guess that's okay. And now i don't care about giving up a twenty three six. I bet you. Into and through the falcons will have at least one sixth round pick based on the roster's constructed so it does not matter at all that's basically worthless in terms of trade compensation so yeah let's let's get some takes on that. I know several of you have had a chance to share your thoughts on the podcast to eric. I who had. I haven't heard from yet. Eric what is your takeaway. On the compensation the falcons received you think it's fair Know what are your thoughts on that. I'll be honest. it's it's to me. it's not but it's not a knock on the falcons. Front office is more of me. Aiming at the teams in looking at an all pro a future hall of famer. Like julio jones in just because it was obvious that was the best offer on the table..

"Been in Shelley, Idaho, writes. I was thinking about the NFL players desire to kneel during the anthem. I started thinking about the significance of kneeling and realize I kneel when I pray. Kneeling is really a sign of humility and respect to something greater subjects knelt before their kings. I know we stand for the flag and the national anthem out of respect and tradition. But is it possible? We're looking at this kneeling thing with the wrong perspective? Very interesting letter, Ben. But I can tell you that the kneeling and not coming out of the locker rooms by the football teams. Have only one purpose and that is social justice. Many of the players in the NFL and 70% of them are African American believe we live in an unjust country, a bad country. A country where the police stalk young black men. I don't believe that. And my opinion should be respected Justice I respect other opinion. So when I'm Tuning in to see a sports game. I really don't want to see left wing politics. And that's what it's all about. Art in Charleston, South Carolina. Great town. Bill, Would you ever consider a killing slavery type of book? If you d'oh, you must include Charleston. Well, that's right. Charleston was a slave port while I wrote killing Lincoln. And that has a lot about slavery in it is a very honest book, and it's not a definitive look at slavery, but certainly you'll get a lot of information routes. Is a book that cannot be topped. All Americans should read roots. You remember the television Siri's, but the book by Alex Haley is really spectacular, So I'm not going to get into this territory because I can't top roots. Robert Carson City, Nevada, the capital of this state. Bill you have mentioned on more than one occasion that there will be large layoffs in the mainstream media networks after the election. I know it. President Trump loses. There will be no one of his stature to focus their hate on and I know the viewership is down because folks are tired of the hate. If Trump wins, he's still there for the haters in the networks to go after. So have I missed something? Yes, Robert. So my prediction is that if Donald Trump loses the election Few Americans are gonna tune into news on a daily basis Toe watch the Biden administration. So the audience is a fall anywhere from 30 to 50%. If Trump wins, then there's no more drama. The haters will still hate as you point out. And that's not going to stop. But there's no more will he win. Will you get him? Page will hear this Willy that you'll have Donald Trump for four years. John in Centralia, Illinois. "Me Brian Mud on Facebook. And Today's note is this Matt Brian Mud Radio. A story on W. Y O D reference the installation of a software tabulating patch to Broward voting machines by Microsoft that was unsolicited as a resident of Florida 23 all too familiar with statistical anomalies. Any news on your end. I hear you there. Anyway, so Yeah. Look, this does come down to what? Peter reference that Microsoft patch is a patch for Windows seven. Alright, so and there's a message in this for you two happened out any computer on window seven. So for all the war to improve election, security and integrity and Broward and Palm Beach counties after our 2018 debacles. Which, of course, led to the ouster of both election supervisors and met us Peter Antonacci. The thought is out there that will. Maybe it'll be the computer operating systems themselves that could become compromised this time. And here's the thing just as tens of a million of millions of Americans are still using window seven on their computers. So are many counties across the country, including you in Florida. So the concern with all computer systems running the dated operating system, Microsoft actually ended support in January, 14th. Yet as of August over 22% of active computers in the United States still running it That's the message for you. If you're running Microsoft Windows seven bad idea. Use that computer if you want, but use it offline. Your computer could be compromised at any time and certainly is far more susceptible to being compromised. Then if you're using a currently supported operating system So anyway, you're going with that doesn't sound good and Broward is is running it. There's a Yeah, but and here's the but Microsoft's created an initiative called defending Democracy. And as part of this program, there is a designated support team. This is all they do. They provide free security updates for federally certified voting machines that run Windows seven and they're doing it through the 2020 elections. Now the reference update happen to be part of this program. And as for what the updates Intel this is Microsoft's explanation. They say. Since we announced our defending democracy program, we focused on bringing the best of Microsoft's security products and expertise to political campaigns, parties, the election community and democracy focused non governmental organizations. This includes our Account Guard service, which we offer at no additional cost and election guard. Which were making available for free and open source. So, yes, the skepticism. It is understandable given Broward and Palm Beach counties election history, however. This likely is not an issue to be concerned with this year as Peter just articulated, not keeping him up at night. No one of the big misconceptions is something he also address that is that election systems live online. And thus can be tampered with by hackers. They simply don't they do not. That is such a false Notion premise. Whatever else it's all out there from people who either don't know or want to mislead or both. So Healing time. Boats are accessible. Be clear about this. The on ly time votes are accessible anywhere in the state of Florida. Not just here in Broward. When they're being transmitted to the state. So what Microsoft maintaining security for all voting systems systems seldom being online and paper ballot backups. The concerns over online hacking in tampering are minimal and the biggest threat remains the same for this cycle, as in The previous cycles. Legal tabulation of the balance themselves. So anyway, there you go and be right back. Natalie, you're top trending stories right here on the Bryan Mud shown he's ready. Who's 6? 10? Thank you. Andrew one of the deals that drew mentioned during the course of his update was the big while not the big, but the trade of between the Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings in which Justin Jackson, the former North Carolina. Tar heels Zach Randolph longtime NBA star former Michigan state star is. Well, we're traded Dallas as Harrison Barnes was traded to Sacramento, and it's not a case of being critical of when or or I should say the particulars of the deal, exactly Harrison Barnes. What is he going to do in Sacramento and the impact on Dallas here, but in the here, and now it's exactly about the timing of when that deal went down. And let me explain the deal went down in the middle of a game. Harrison Barnes had scored ten points and twenty six minutes. Right. Didn't play in the fourth quarter was on the bench when the deal did go down and he found out on the bench, and it drew the ire of law. Lebron James in terms of the timing of deal because during the game, correct? Look this has happened in baseball whole bunch, by the way. Right. I mean, we we're guys get called up a moved out whatever during a game out of the lineup. Got a lineup. Yeah. We've seen this out of famous. One would Wilmer Flores. Who's getting trade to the Milwaukee? Brewers. Crying on the field sa- deal ended up not going down, polka cry for no reason, but that broad social media. Yeah. The the deal between the Mets Umbro's didn't end up going down. But that was one of the more embarrassing more embarrassing scenes for the Mets Butler. Thanks lebron. James, LeBron James. Yeah. This this bothered him. But it's interesting. Yeah. He's barreled through in Cleveland young players that he got a bunch of heat for with the office with the the front office. He's now barreling through players in Los Angeles with the Lakers a bunch of young players that don't even want to sit near on a bench. Okay. And and and that they can't go out there and compete against Indiana Pacers without vehicle depot to boot. And so like LeBron's to LeBron to say, this is kind of like ironic is kind of strange for him to open up his mouth and chirp about this. It's just I don't know. I find it out that he's he's pissed. Not right to the the Gallic that I'm not condoning that. It's not right. But nothing's perfect in life either. I mean, you are getting paid a lot of money. You're playing a game. You're you're an NBA player and Harrison Barnes. Good NBA player. It was a good college player North Carolina and was in Golden State won a championship there. And then and then was obviously paired off after Kevin Durant went from Oklahoma City to Golden State and trade down. So listen, that's all well a good now. I get it's not right. But for LeBron now to say, so let me get this. Let me get this is cool 'cause they had to do. What was best for the franchise right traded the man while he was literally playing in the game and had zero idea I'm not knocking traded him because it's a business, and you have to do what you feel what's best. But I just want this narrative to start to get a real change in what a player wants to be traded or leaves a franchise that he's a selfish ungrateful player. But when they trade you release wave, etc. It's best for them. I'm okay with you with both honestly, truly am just call a Spade. Speed. So I mean, yeah, I but Seattle look at MBA players because he talks out of both sides. That's why you're struggling I'm struggling with because he talks out of both sides of his mouth pro that because his actions that he deals with the young guys and how he comes in. And it's supposed to be he's supposed to be a motivational player a guy who. You're gonna win. What a guy who's a legend the best player in the world and his young guys ended up end up. Just not it's just he he I don't wanna say I don't want exaggerate say destroys careers because that's not true. That'd be a really gross overstatement. I this. He's just not he injects like some just a pessimistic negative feel for his young guy. So Famer come out and say this about this guy. Yeah. I respect that. Lebron trying to be a leader amongst the league amongst young players by saying this and speaking like he's the big player rep. That's cool. But he of talks out of both sides of his mouth. Well, right. And that's an entire I'ma critical. I you and I both have not been critical of Anthony Davis. He wants out of New Orleans soapy. I've never critical of a player using his leverage. I hold pro player guy. Totally agree. And and that is I'd rather see the players get paid more money. What am I root for the billionaire owners? No room for the players the more. You can make the best. I enjoy watching guys play. I enjoy watching guys do what the playing at the peak of their athletic ability and doing stuff on the court that is jaw dropping. So I never hold it against any player. Now. I'll be critical of teams where they overpay a player that I don't believe it specially a team that I root for that. Don't believe that that player's worth that kind of money. But if the player can get it so be more critical of the team than I am ever of the player. But with that being said, if you're LeBron now, all the sudden is a case of. Yeah. We understand it's a business. Harrison Barnes didn't get traded to Siberia, he got traded to the Sacramento Kings. It's not all of a sudden like Harrison Barnes was in the middle of playing for the Dallas Mavericks and got notified like, listen China. We just trade you to China. You're not going to be playing for Rick Pitino in Greece. He's playing in Sacramento. MBA? I get baby that he did not want to leave. I get that. He is a Dallas maverick maze. Maybe a excited about being with Porzingis. At Luca dodge down there getting rid of the headache. That was Dennis Smith junior. I get all that. But honestly, he's still getting paid. He's still inside. Now, he's a member of the Sacramento Kings. I know the timing was not perfect. But oftentimes these deals come down when it was time to make the deal you have to make the deal if you're an NBA team. That's it. I mean, if they felt like the deal was basically gotta get made before that game started Harrison Barnes never would've played. I know I said they said you're not dressing tonight or potentially going to make a deal. So obviously when that deal that game got started in the span of that ninety minutes. That's when this deal really picked up track. I it's not like they're trying and solitaire trying to be sneaky and swerved the kid. You know, like, all right. Look he's he's playing right now the game to start. Let's trade. Yeah. Right. And that's kind of like how I understand LeBron's like disdain. But it's like that's not happening that no one's trying to swerve the kindergarten behind the kids back stabbed in the back here. I mean the team didn't do that to him. I mean, it's to your point. That's one of the oh was made. And so when the time happens the time happens Jay out of the game. Excuse me, this guy he LeBron and Tatum when this guy is finally done whenever that is. "Atlantic coach by lane kiffin, Devin single theory fares. I mean. That's one of the things that I'm glad we don't have to do so much drafts. Like, look don't get me wrong. I wish the bears at a first round pick. I wish they had a second round. But we're still going over to Clayton for the party for the drought hardy. Yeah. But we don't have to excessively talk about what the bears are gonna do at number eight this year or wherever they're picking. You know what I mean? I. With Khalil Mack. I'll make an early. February prediction for you. I believe the bears will find themselves picking in the second round of this upcoming draft. They're gonna they're gonna jump into bears will do something to move back up. We told you I believe this team feel listen, I think that they have the right philosophy their Bill to win. Now, they're built to win for wile to because they're not an old team. They're a young team, but they can feel it. They can sense it. And I think I think that they're going to make I don't think Ryan pace is going to change his approach. I think it's gonna be you know, pedal to the metal that Georgia kickers not gonna draft himself Rodriguez or Rodriguez. What's his name, Rodriguez, Blankenship classes, right? Don't forget is we've told you before about will Waddell said about if they trade up into the second round next year. They have two second round pick. Which one of them is Oakland's second round pick. For instance, this year Oakland in the second round pick thirty five. So that is that's basically like a late first round pick. That's so early. So maybe the bears would take the raiders first round a second round pick from twenty twenty and try to move into the second round this year. Yeah. I think they're going to I think you're going to I think they will make a pick in the second round this year. He's that Ryan pace. Can't you sit there and twiddle is now. Yeah. It may be a kicker, but he's going to draft someone in the second round Pask. I'm joking. I don't I don't think that'll have the I'm telling you the more I'm so conflicted because I don't want to spend six million dollars on a kicker, and you heard what Lewis said in somebody's worked at a front office. He's not gonna draft one. Look if you if you're looking to mitigate the risk. Your best option may be to spend more than you initially thought was reasonable on a kicker and see what you can get Robbie gold signed for. I heard a good point. I think maybe uncommon in your were. They were rationalizing that good teams have a they could creatively make even more cap room than they have. So you can't just make a draft pick up here. Do you know what I mean? Yes. Like you have limited draft capital to begin with. On the kicker, but you can still find ways to manufacture more money about Dion. Sims is not part of your team in two thousand and nineteen. So you save some money by letting him go, right? I'm that's what I'm saying. Look, I know that the cat space is valuable, but I to put as much or more value on the draft currency. Yeah. So where this team is now. I'm not so sure the best answer isn't to spend another three million on a kicker and had six million dollars spent on a kicker for the two thousand and thousand nine season. Again, I'm not more than sex, whatever it is he's owed five million total routes five million of dead money. That's the thing. That's the sunk cost. You can't even. You're sitting five million in the hole talking you've moved past it, you just you basically operating this season. Don't think about it as the cracker position. Just think about it as you know, what we messed up just like when you messed up, and you signed Mike Glennon to a monster deal in you had dead cap on the books. It's whatever, however came about I'm telling you five million dollars cap it that's not you can't use this. You don't even think about it. As the kicker part fixed. The cat response to myself would be well, you know, what be better on offense than you were this year, which should be the natural trend. You're young quarterback is now had a full system in this in this new offense the weapons around him have had the same experience offensively. You should be in the top thirds to typically in most stats not the bottom third defensively. You're not gonna probably lead the league with thirty seven takeaways, maybe. But what is history tell you? If you use history to predict the future. The history is didn't Carmen come up with that staff that no team that led the league in in in takeaway. As in the previous year was within like eleven of the total while like they've. Gift cards listening. Tennessee a shout Carmen always. His old life is in the back through. Can't even. Yeah. So. But you know, the the odds are is the defense may at least some of these really important categories take a small step back, but the offense will take a step forward. Maybe make the kicker less important because you're going to be more. You're going to be more proficient on offense again with that said if you're more proficient on offense, you're gonna get more attempts field goal wise. I know I know what you're saying there. Yes. But you're not going to score every time you're in the red zone. I know this is a weapon like like the people just say, oh, the kicker shouldn't matter score more Texans. Tom Brady does score touchdowns. Every time. Pappa Holmes doesn't score touchdowns. Every time. The guys who are good kickers are significant weapons in the national book. And hence the reason why I'm even having the discussion about pain another guy several million dollars. So obviously with this projection. I have value for a kicker. This is the dilemma for the general manager. Do you go out and spend money on another kicker? And who knows I mean, listen, my guess is if I had to put my own money down if you sign rob he's going to have a good year next year. There's no guarantee if you find yourself with him in another big contracts, and for whatever reason he takes a step back. That's a risk that. I'm sure is going through their minds isn't there like some sort of a kicker doctor out there? Louis were saying there's no one knows how to scout kickers as general managers. I mean, isn't like there's a shot doctor in basketball, and they're usually like good. Golly coaches why. Sports psychologist. You know that you can sit and talk with I wonder be someone how much I it's what Lewis was talking about. There's how GM's all over the league can't scouts kickers. And look it makes sense. That's that's probably the thing. They spend some the least amount of time on because it's an inexact science in some ways. And you don't have a lot of kickers that you can draw upon usually if you're an NFL for an office. I wonder how much consulting they do with a player like Kevin Butler, a guy who's actually kicked in the league successfully. And where they say, hey, I just want, you know, pick your brain here for a second. Take a look at this kicker. Tell me what you think. And then when they looked at drafted defensive tackle Maitree, call mongo on the phone. I'll teach them a thing or two I googled NFL kicker whisper and Matt Bryant came up king. I'm not even kidding map. Because there's a story from July eighth two thousand seventeen about how Matt Brian has figured out a way to communicate. It with alligators. And he whispers to them. So that's my alligator was I understand that. But it was just funny. Brian came up while we were talking about kickers signed boys signed. So what do you think they're going to do? I think he's gonna spend money. I think that's what he's tried to do each. And every years in free agency Ryan pace has a track record for going out and writing whether it's the old general managers Ron's or his own. So how would you feel if they went out and spent three million dollars on Robbie the more? We're talking about it the more. I'm warming up to it. And because the interesting part of the conversation is is when the game was over. We all came into work the next day, and everyone was scarred. And everyone was disappointed and everything else. I thought you had was well we're going to have to solve this problem here in town. You can't just throw money at it again and seven million dollars invested in kickers. He just can't do it. And the further you get from that moment, and you take a step back, and you kind of X I'm not so sure that's not the best option. I've been facts you have. I mean, look guys like Robbie that you believe in Ravi situation is unique because he kicked here for years, and he kicked well here for years, and he's he's on track and he's kicking Greg. So this is one of those unique situations that you don't always find yourself in. If you had a guy that wasn't as accomplished or familiar with as Robbie, maybe it would be different. But this one just feels like feels like the right risk to take possible. That is if San Francisco dozen franchise them or. Yeah. There's talk about a long term deal. They negotiate with them now. And then there's talk about franchise him John Lynch said a while ago. That's you know, they are very happy beyond happy with how Robbie has performed for them. So they're going to try to keep it real quick. You said three million. He's gonna want more than. He's gonna get four million a year. I would think. Mill my bag. What's the point? I if you only have twenty million dollars of cap spaces, the bears, do I create more cap space with some strategic moves. Sure, you maybe. Employs are you? Per you deal for three years. I don't believe. So. No, okay. So that's why I don't know. As I'm saying, I don't have all the numbers in front of me. I can't make this decision today. What I can't tell you can tell you dad is is that it's part of my it's on the landscape for me. I'm not writing it off completely right? I'm more likely to do that. Then draft kicker three one two three three two three seven seven six. We're commercial free inside the first mid West Bank studio, we've had many debates today. The NBA trade deadline is what now guys twenty. What is it twenty one and a half hours? No, math twenty one hours and twenty six minutes and twenty seconds stuff. Tomorrow, two o'clock, right? When we start. That's when the deadline happens with the bulls make moves they played tonight at the United Center will any of their lineup decisions. Maybe tell you what they're thinking. Like will. They sit your bar. He tonight has that been reporting. Who knows they sit him then they claim and then they sit him in play you, sit Rollo and Jabari tonight just to make sure neither of them. Get hurt. Sure. Them. All cinema lose the game. We had debates about major league baseball rules. If you miss Ken Rosenthal's piece, also on ESPN dot com. Really good piece is well, I saw I I had this article in this the Jeff passan one. And there was a list of three batter. Minimum for pitchers. Nope. Universal designated hitter. Okay. Single trade deadline before the all star break. Don't completely understand that. But I said okay to that a twenty second pitch clock could with that expansion of rosters to twenty-six men with a twelve pitcher maximum we can talk about that draft advantages for winning teams penalties for losing teams. We can talk about that later studied, the lower the mound, even more. So so would give an advantage to the hitters. Okay. We can talk about that. And a rule that would allow to sport amateurs to sign major league contracts. So I'm kind of open for anything. Yeah. So we debated that to some hot debates about that. And how to cut down. And some of the dead time. So if you want to weigh in on any of it, I've got some Stephen a Smith hot off the presses that he joined us any went after the bulls. There was some really good stuff a play that here in about five minutes. Three one two three three two three seven seven six. If you want to get in on the conversation Johnson Atalanta home of nap Bryant, no more, John you're on ESPN one thousand is home there. Hey, guys. I'm a big fan. I I moved here a couple years ago from Chicago. So like still you guys every day. But appreciate opinion of various various has to go spend money on a kicker 'cause they've already all in Khalil Mack. They've got all this money invested in these free agents. And you can't let a kick in the ass again. So they have to fix it. Yeah. The big fix it. It's just a matter of how you do it. So I Don, I don't know. I don't know if they will. I don't know if Ryan pace will say, you know, what I'm gonna I'm gonna go back to the well, I'm going to spend money in free agency or if he's a bit gun shy. Because of what happened this year? I don't know what he's gonna do someone on Carmen Yuriko show. Also brought up if if you follow what Ryan pace has followed. Do you understand what I'm saying? What is who is he modeled himself after in the last year? It's been the Rams. And when the Rams got good, you know, he got he got his McVeigh to his young quarterback. Will he do what the Rams did your line? Didn't they will not? I'm not talking about kicker. I'm talking about to get to the next step thing about the bold moves the Rams made this past offseason. Even when they had lots of high highly paid players they went out and got indomethacin sue they went out and traded for Marcus Peters. Didn't they go out? And they traded for a kid. Think about owning cooks Brandin cooks. Like, there could be a lot of other things that Ryan pace wants to do and pay for other than kicker. I don't know what else they would do. Defensively means safety. Well, you're going to have to pay you're going to have to either pay..

"For nine from fifty in two thousand seventeen four five last year, how many of those are indoors that matters. I know you're right. I gave her the outdoor kicks. He was I know. But then. "Look at it. There's already reports the Matt Brian is expected to be somebody that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers interested in obviously the bucks have had their own trials and tribulations with kickers certainly the Roberto Aguire days, Matt Brian actually started off his career starting up ahead an early part of his early career with made buck nears. And so I think this is certainly worth considering if the Cowboys because again this position matter so much aired on periscope says I like bread, but he's not trustworthy. Robert on periscope says you only fifty three spots can't waste on the kicker. I think Roberts addressing somebody had floated the idea of having both on the roster. It's been a long time since the guy was too kickers on their Oster. I'm not a proponent of that Gary on a log on the Facebook live feed says Maher will mature and settle in. There is a live and thought to that maybe Brent Maher had some rookie struggles. And maybe he'll be back are maybe he'll get to a proper form. We did see stretch time when he was super consistent super reliable before he got. A little bit rattling beings kind of change to a degree. But you have to consider it you have to consider. You don't have this money option that you've had in seasons. Pasaden- Bailey, Stephen Watkins, combating that point on on Facebook live says he'll mature he's twenty nine years old again, it's not like Brett Maher is this twenty two year old, you know, young player that has a lot of time to develop a great point by Stephen that he is a little bit of an older player. And so you can't necessarily trust that he's on the same career aren't that? A lot of other guys are there's a lot of proponents for finding a player fresh college, maybe drafting somebody and other undrafted free agent. Dan Bailey was but you have to look at this. You have to look at this long and hard because this is going to be such a pivotal season for the commerce as we've discussed Jason Garrett and during a contract year first year off of quote, entering kellyn more. There's a lot to look at this. And you're a team if you're the Cowboys you don't have a first round draft pick. I wrote about this today of blog on the boys dot com. The last time that the Cowboys did not have a first round draft. Pick was not a lot of fun. You'll remember that in two thousand and nine thanks to the trade for ROY Williams and other receiver the Cowboys did not have a first round draft pick. And in fact, they traded away their second round draft pick on the draft. Again. The Cowboys did not have a first or second round draft pick ten years ago, and they put together a draft it consisted of twelve picks in two thousand nine that was quite gross. If you have been watching the Cowboys for the better part of a decade at the very least you'll remember that the two thousand nine draft class for the team is one of the worst in franchise history twelve picks and not one to really be proud of. And that kind of goes with today's theme considering drafted David dealer to be sort of secondary kick kick off specialist and deep ball kickers specialist. And what have you times really changed over the last ten years in the NFL and the Cowboys, and I think we'd trust. Now more that we did then the Cavs can do damage what their late around picks McClay is really been great architecture. Finding contributors for the Cowboys in the later rounds and the. I that has been the second round draft pick for the Cowboys in recent years as really started kind of you know, calm down a bit. You look at their second draft picks, and who they become two thousand fourteen DeMarcus Lawrence two thousand fifteen obviously Randy Gregory has really rebounded two thousand sixteen. Jalen Smith two thousand seventeen today in two thousand eighteen Connor Williams who seems to have a bright future along the interior of the Dallas Cowboys offense of lying. So there's a lot to look there's a lot to be, you know, calmness..

"So the question is if it were up to you, would you rather have Brett Maher or Matt Bryant kicking for the Dallas Cowboys in two thousand and nineteen. It goes without saying that Matt Brian will beating more expensive option again because he likely is going to have suitors but the question from Aaron by the way on periscope. Why do they cut him? It's just a matter of impracticality for the Atlanta Falcons to Matt Ryan they have Giorgio Vecchio on the roster who who played well in Brian's absence this past season. You might remember Giorgio from his days with the open raiders as well. But we put up a poll about this on blocking the boys dot com. If you wanna go vote you can and so far fifty nine percent of the votes prefer Matt Bryant can. Kenneth on periscope wants to know how old is met Brian's Brian's been around a while he is been kicking in the NFL since two thousand and two with the Atlanta Falcons since two thousand and nine so he certainly has quite a plethora of experience when it comes to putting ball through the uprights and the NFL. But again, you know, it's it's hard because the Cowboys don't have a stable option like they have had in so many seasons before Christopher summers on the buses Facebook live. I'd rather have Bryant, and that kind of seems where people seem to prefer Ostra people seem to prefer excuse me. Because Brett Maher has people not feeling great. Brett Maher kinda Dan Bailey in two thousand seventeen struggled a bid down the stretch for the Cowboys. And he feels a little hard to trust. And that's not the worst thing in the world. Honestly, I mean, you know, you're going to miss kicks, and you're gonna miss extra point. So the NFL works these days, you're never gonna have somebody or it's really unlikely. The you're going to have somebody that Dan Bailey was for so long rarely going to kinda run into that guy. It's just money after money after money Justin tuck in Baltimore's kind of the best example of that. And certainly a rare bird, no pun intended there. Gary to Facebook live feed says I'd rather keep bread mater, and that's another option if you'd rather save two million dollars allocate that towards an extra defensive tackle towards an extra linebacker towards an extra safety. Whoever you want to put that money that is certainly one line of thought. However, and we talked about this with Dan Bailey release and all that that went on over, you know, six months ago now kickers matter and people roll their eyes to say, I don't care doesn't matter kickers, etc. Blah, blah, kickers matter as evidenced again, by the fact, I think about that the games of the Cowboys played in two thousand eighteen they should have been able to kicked a game winning earliest game or have you wanna look at that feelable in Houston against the Texans. Obviously, they punted how that game went down. They did. Have to kick a game winning field. The Detroit Lions they did have to kick a game winning field while against the Atlanta Falcons their game against the Washington. Redskins came down to a field goal kick. The Cowboys played so many one possession games that kicks and field goals and extra points are super valuable. You cannot just have any all generic kicker. I think right now Ben Maher is in the you know, maybe the bottom of the second third of NFL kickers right now. I don't think he's a top third congressional. He's even in the top half. And so you really have to consider what you wanna do there. Because that position is extremely important any position that can influence the number of points or team scores is so valuable and it's so critical. And that's why this question this subject is so interesting because it's not every day that kicker Brian becomes available. Although to be fair it was just last season. The Dan Bailey became available. Although that was in the finalisation of rosters not way early on in February. When teams could really take a cold hard..

"Tony Casillas, Tony, and I talked about the Super Bowl have a couch compared to the patriots Kellen Moore and a whole lot more, no pun intended. It is Wednesday February six two thousand nineteen it is hump day. So happy hump day to you. And we did not have a chance to July on Tuesday my apologies. If you can't tell I'm a little sick a tiny little cold that I'm nursing. And in Tuesday was the worst of it. But it seems to be over thank God. And so here we sit on Wednesday. And it is officially the season that did not change in a matter of forty eight hours, and we have a little bit of news from an NFL wide perspective today on Wednesday. It was announced by by himself. Really that the Atlanta Falcons would not be bringing back veteran kicker Matt Bryant in two thousand nineteen the falcons later confirmed this, and it's been kind of the biggest storyline in the NFL of the day that kind of speaks to the world of the NFL in early February that a kicker not being brought back is is a big storyline. This is big because as Cowboys fans, we haven't had to worry about these types of problems in a long time. It's just kind of been a foregone conclusion that Dan Bailey is going to be the guy. He's going to be the kicker. There's not going to really be any competition of any sorts. But that all changed when the Cowboys finalize their fifty three man roster last season. And Dan Bailey was released in favor of. Brett maher. Now, there are definitely a lot of Brett Maher feigns around Cowboys nation. I think we all know that. But the reality is Brent Maher certainly has his own flaws Maher's field goal percentage in two thousand eighteen his rookie season twenty eight year old plane on a rookie deal are on his rookie season. Excuse me. He was any point six percent successful eighty point six eight zero point six percent successful. Brent Maher was in his first season in the NFL. It's worth noting that in the last three seasons that Matt Bryant has not been below eighty seven point two percent when it comes to his field goal. Accuracy. That's quite a difference meant Brian only missed one field goal last year. They're definitely going to be a lot of teams who are going to be interested in Brian's services. I think you look at the Chicago Bears, obviously would have with Cody park. You could be very interested. Maybe in the Minnesota Vikings who signed in Bailey after the Cowboys cut him, but more than anything. I think. What should be mentioned because Brett Maher does have a bit of a deep leg. I think we all saw that at different times. And Brent Maher suddenly came in clutch for the Cowboys. He had the big game winner against the Detroit Lions, and coincidentally because we're talking about that Bryant had the game winner in Atlanta against the falcons, although he obviously did hit one off the upright in crunch time against the Washington Redskins after that snap and fraction. But looking where were mar struggles. Specifically, it's between attempts of forty and forty nine yards. Brent Mars attempting the field between forty and forty nine yards as a little rough for Brett Maher. He went seven of eleven their last season's four misses between forty and forty nine yards for whatever reason Brett is just a little bit more accurate from beyond the arc so to speak now in that range from forty to forty nine yards. Matt Brian has actually been pretty solid in the last three seasons. He is twenty-five of twenty six between forty and forty nine yards. So Matt Bryant kind. Has the range that Brett Maher struggled with down to a pretty accurate level? And again, this is new territory for the Cowboys because they have not had to consider different picking options, and they kind of lucked themselves into Brent Maher last season..

And I just give I just give that's one way to put it another way is I just love talking ball with y'all. Eight four four zero four rich is the number to Dow what a great week we had of shows in Atlanta and we figured after chatting with Tom KARN. With the Boston Angolan. Jeff Schwartz broke down the Xs and os. We figured we'd go straight up the flow chart right now and get the man who called the Super Bowl on CBS remarkably the first one that he's called with the patriots winning. He headed the trophy to them in the first ever Super Bowl, the NFL network covered back in Houston city that obviously means so much to him. And we're thrilled to have the day after calling the game on CBS with the patriots beating the Rams gymnasts here on the rich Eisen show. How are you? Jim. I am. Well, and just like you. I hurry home as fast as I could. So. I just got on the ground here in California. And I'm delighted to talk to you. I appreciate that. Jim. I appreciate that. So what do you take away from Super Bowl fifty three? Jim. I had very little rest last night relate to that. I've been course, circling in my mind, so many thoughts about the game. It was so bizarre. Strange. Unlike anything, I've I think I've ever seen in a football game. It's just it was it was just a not what anyone expected. A tip of the hat here. Or to ballot check. And I think that was perhaps his finest finest hour, maybe it's finest game plan upper. And I don't want to shortchange while Matt Brian Flora's, but we all know Bill never gave away the defensive coordinator title this year because he is the coordinator and I was at practices weekend. I saw it at work in Flora's is right there with them but Bill is in the middle. And I mean what a tremendous game plan. He put together to completely. Bring it to a screeching halt an offense that was just packed full power and speed and all kinds of punch, and it just was not existent. How about this one? Just we had for the game one snap in the red zone right for the game one. And it was the touchdown. Touchdown run by Sony from two yards out. Now sell me a game you've ever seen that had one snap from inside the twenty for both teams combined. One I can't recall it. I know remarkably that happened fifty three minutes into the game the exact number of Super Bowls played numerology dream, fifty three minutes. Disapproval fifty three is when he crashed the end zone, Sony, Michelle, and it it really was one of those games where I was expecting that at some point. It would just all the defensive filters would be taken off and the the offense would have its say. But it really never happened. I saw it in the second quarter when it was three nothing. Good. So still going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of the game that my partner Tony Romo had foreshadowed. The media day. He'd been asked to make a prediction on the game. Don't tell us who's going to win that the the question came from the floor. We know you can't pick a team. But this could you tell us the score. And Tony's that twenty eight twenty four and the team that has twenty four we'll have a ball at the end be stopped. I thought that was still possible. I wasn't trying to call them out on it or make them look bad on those snarky people out there. Trying to make something out of that. But the reality was we had a game similar inflow at Kansas City two weeks before and that was a fourteen nothing game. And you never would have imagined that it would be thirty seven thirty one final in the end. That's what I still thought. We were heading toward was it gained. There's going to be in the twenties. Maybe somebody would touch thirty. And this thing would open up. But it never did. Did you get a sense at all? Because to me, Jim, Jim Nancy on the rich Eisen show. We may never get an answer to the question about Todd Gurley. Wh what did you glean throughout the week about his prepared? This readiness health anything, Jim? All I got was. Everyone's he was fine. Everyone on the record off the record. I think this is unrelated to what happened. In New Orleans. I think the New Orleans thing was about his focus or lack of at the beginning of that game. The interception of bounced off his hands. Another drop. All is the Rams are going in for a touchdown to the carpet around the fifteen yard line. And I think it was never called a benching. I just think that McVeigh lost faith in him in the NFC championship game. It got comfortable with the way Anderson was playing now this one I think this had to do with having the game plan being taken away from it. Not because anyone lost faith. And I just think the game was forced to go in a different fashion than what the Rams usually do. He's still got whatever. It was ten carries the game not a lot. But it certainly had no flow to it. The Rams offense to out, and it just I think I just think those two off performances are two different issues, and this one had more to do with what you waiting on. What's throwing out Jim Nance here on the rich Eisen show just landed back on the on the left coast. I think he's got an appearance on DP show at pebble coming up later in the week kind enough to call into the rich Eisen show here the day after calling the Super Bowl. So let me ask you this one Jim where does Brady rank? I mean, as we all know you've seen great moments at Augusta using great moments in the NC double a hoops tournament. You've seen so many great moments in your broadcasting career out of those areas as well where does Brady rank for you? You. It's a very difficult proposition to try to compare. Tom Brady, the Tiger Woods, for example. I've been how do you say one's better than the other? These are just such special individuals who compete at such a high level, and who are just driven insatiable. Appetite to try to win win win. They just never let go of it and unquenchable thirst for victory. And I I just I admire that kind of athlete that just it's never enough. It's never enough. I mean, you would have thought that maybe this would be enough for time. I can't speak for him. Do you like a no one pretty well? You don't pretty well covered him a long time. But you know, he walks off that platform last night with the Lombardi trophy this little girl in his arms as mazing he convince me he's coming back. I of thought maybe there might be a little wiggle room that if he wanted that this might be the right occasion, not not necessarily on Sunday night to take away from the moment. But I certainly go out of sense. Just just listening to them answering the questions that you know, he's definitely planning on coming back and staying with that long range plan of of of quarterbacking tilles forty five years old. Yeah. I mean, it's it's amazing. I guess I should ask. Instead of rank if if you've seen any similar traits, and you you you you mentioned tiger mean the first time you handed that trophy to Brady was way back when he was just winning his second. And now as you handed that one to him last night, you could say it was the second most valuable trophy that that little girls in his arms for him. And how it all connects maybe for him. I think that that he wants to keep playing while his kids remember watching daddy win the Super Bowl. I and prove how long jeopardy. Is just a mindset really not an age. Jim. I'm wondering what you think having been so close up to it. Let me speak here. In terms of what Tom said to us when meeting with them. Wednesday, and that was discussed that when I had the Lombardi in his hands going back to the Super Bowl in New Orleans Super Bowl thirty six beating the Rams his twenty four year old kid didn't have of course, a family was buried and now here, he is he's you know, he's a man. He's forty one got father of threes got a beautiful family. And he said how much he enjoys being able to share this with his kids is all this boy is really into it. Now. Really? They take it very personally when things. You know, battlements fan more than he is a fan of his dad, but the second son is is not quite as into it, and the and the little girl, and I made a reference to this on the big platform last night, rich. She's she would always say to the Tom he said after the game eight daddy, I was churn for I was saying go daddy. Go. Could you hear me? Of course, I could hear you on. And there's a father a little girl. I just thought it was really sweet thing to have a little bit in his hands. Last like, you said there's no trophy that compares to that having a child in your arms, especially when it's the greatest moment of triumph on the football field purging with your your your greatest gift of all your family. So I think that he is to your point. I think he says this one thing that is keeping going it. Some people say now want go spend more time I want to let go of this. And I to I wanted to vote just all my time instead of training and all that goes into it. But I think as kids are into it. Now kids are like enjoying this life and watching their dad, the you know, the greatest quarterback the games ever known. And last one for you. Jim Jim Nance here on the show. I really like Romo a lot. Jim. I think you know, when I've told you this all feral tell you here too. He's he's like the guy the guy at the bar. Okay. Like the he reacts like the guy at the bar. He knows more than the guy at the bar, but he doesn't want to make it seem like the guy in the bar that he's not smart as him. I mean, he just he's he's he's terrific. And all that. I'm wondering what is like trying to get the play in get ready for the snap. And he's he's he's predicting stuff left right up and down for you. Absolute total joy, I I just love working with them. And he is a regular guy who struck it. Big in the NFL by working hard undrafted. I said to Sam farmer. Tony is a guy into carries himself with a full blown case of undrafted Itis, so everything he's gonna get in his world. He's gonna work for it. Whether it's being a great golfer or being a quarterback who set all the cowboy passing records or being a tremendous analyst on television. It there's a part of it that comes naturally, but he's working, and he's able to take we is his personality is boyish enthusiasm and be able to feel feel comfortable exposing that to the world of who he really is instead of trying to pretend to somebody else instead of playing the role of announcer. He's just being himself. And we're we just had a poll for two years. So darn proud of him last night. It was it was such an important show. It always is for anyone gets the good fortune of being able to work in any capacity of Super Bowl. But you know, Tony we didn't have the best game. But it wasn't a game. That had a rhythm and flow. So we could get into it like the Kansas City broadcasts that we have. But he did really well. And this is just the start of a long great career that one day rich. We'll have him better known as the top football analyst of his time than being a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. But I mean, I mean that's saying a lot. It's it'd be like Madden right that that Madden was no more. That's the comparison in terms of John outgrew his legend of being a Super Bowl winning coach and became known as John Madden. The voice of the people the voice of the sports Antonis on his way. So you're you're on your way to pebble. Right. That's your next gig. I'm on my way, back home. We got the golf tournament here this week. And Tony is going to be here, by the way. Uh-huh. Dinners sit back and what about dollars jackets and celebrate what about ballot. Check. Playing this your bills out this year? And I think Brady's going skiing. So they've they've been the past. They've somehow they'd come off a Super Bowl game and made their way to the Monterey peninsula. The plan this thing, but not this year. And then then the turnament where I'm sure you'll be handing the trophy to John beeline. I'm looking forward to that. That'll be great. True Michigan allow maybe if it's not Kelvin Sampson at the university of Houston my school, right? I'm sorry about that last year. Oh, man, I'm bringing that up. No. I realized that to maybe sees I on it, you know, up close and personal for that final four that everybody's expecting this guy. It's a great next few weeks. Jim I look forward to it is always now, it's all good fun. I mean, you go from the Super Bowl. So the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and it's all a blessing. I don't take it lightly to be with you, my friend..

"That six thirty stems countdown to tip off. Real quick finish up talking kicking. Johnson Palo Alto and wants to weigh in high. John welcome. Hey, guys, a Tommy John. How you guys doing? Pretty funny story about twenty years ago. I went to Oregon SC dock. We lost on a last second. Field goal is kid. Joshua smith. Missed a thirty seven yard or ended up in Dover in. As time expired at the Coliseum three yards short there with my son. Oldest boy. To kind of bummed about that. But fast forward to sense given. We're driving home up until I got all three boys who stop and go to the bookstore. Cup of green and yellow rubberized football, my wife, and I go let's go out and see if options open. The open. Sure enough the gates there. It's before they redid it. I head out to the field. I okay, boys. This is for the win IT it up from forty some thirty which is forty yard or. Took me ten tries. Tommy got to on the ten point. My boys still talk about it. A long ways. If I tried that today I'd be like sea bass, it'd be rolling around with my hairy. Forget it forget it. So it'd be done. You're absolutely right. It's just one of those things. Like, I got that. Look how close that is that when you get out there. I made the analogy it's like the high dive, the high dive doesn't look very high into your like standing on. I'd I'd be like oh crap that water looks like a long ways away. Same for the goalposts. Absolutely. Share man. Thanks guy. The phone call. Now, he's one hundred percent, right. It's one of those things in sports. There's a number of them where there's certain things you just no you cannot do. Right. You could most of it. There's very few of us who thinks we could get in the box and hit one hundred or quarterback a team. We're like, but for some reason, there are certain things people think that, you know, well with a few more days of practice. I could you know, go for the best kicking is one thing that people think they can do. It's it's not easy. I'm not saying, it's, you know, maybe get in the box and facing one hundred and then the guy with a nasty slider. Maybe it's not that. But it's damn hard in one thing. You can't recreate even if you do go get a rubberized ball and kick it ten times you're in a playoff game with dudes and began the ball was tipped. But there's a tremendous amount of pressure. And then he made the first one they called the time out to ice in which it worked in. So you sit around for another minute like damn if I miss this. That's where I think most people would fail. I think people get. Could practice enough to kick? But we've seen kickers going to just massive Blair Walsh. Like. Walk out there. Most people would as Peter King would say crap their pants. The interesting thing about freezing the kicker is in college. It's easier to do it because you can call multiple timeouts in the NFL. You can't call timeouts back to back or it's personal foul. I didn't even know that role until about ten years ago in Joe Gibbs came back. He didn't know the rule that he's a head coach he should know that ROY I am a fan. And so at the end of the game gives tried to freeze guy twice. It went from fifty three or thirty eight hundred field goal you lose. Oops. Somebody probably have told him into NASCAR to you. Can't do it twice in a row, but like in college if you have all three of them, you can call it call it. And then you may think going gonna call it, and we not going to call it in the NFL. Once you call it. It's over you have is free swing at it. But in. Would I also think they should do in the NFL is it's a five yard penalty. If you take a free swinging after they've called the timeout, everyone does it. Hey, kid kick in. We're good to go just one. He did it he made it. And then he missed the next one. I thought we got this one. Now, I think he would have made the next one to if it was the same as the first one, but. Forty-three three you probably should get it up higher than I'd have to go back and look at it again, though. I mean was it a really good play was a hand up higher. The normal was with a lower kick the normal. I don't know. But. I would I would assume those things are probably about fifty fifty. You know, what you call it in a guy called mischief? I know then he makes the next when you're like dole. What am I doing I should've slept? But I don't know how I would play it. I don't know. Maybe it got good field because they can't possibly have. A. Achieve for that. Can they give numbers like they again? That's gotta be like just luck of the draw. Sometimes you make them. You missed it. Sometimes you miss both of them. Maybe you make both of them. I can't imagine. It's that big of a deal freezing the kicker, but you look like a genius. When you make the first one you missed the second one's like. Ooh, it's been they've got it. Right. It's happened the other way around. Yeah. Missed one. And then he may makes it then lab. What do they do? What did? I do. I grew up. Dang it. So who knows? But I can't imagine. Like, I said don't college. I would call one for sure. But then you'd have to guess whether I'm going to call the next one or not. Can you could you could do that in college NFL again? Once you went to call the first time outs over there already know that you can't call while much. Joe gibbs. You can't call another timeout. This time. Paid off for Mr. Peterson the damn eagles continue flying eagles fly. I actually I actually liked. I don't mind seeing the eagles. I just like the eagles again. But I like seeing Zach do. Oh, yeah. I know. I don't know. But I've met him a doctor a little bit. So do. By the way, I'm looking at Parke's numbers for the regular season. Yeah. Four forty to forty nine yards for the year. He was only sixty nine point two percent. Which is twenty eighth in the league sl good. Any good at all. There were eight kickers who did not miss a field goal forty to forty nine yards. How many of those were indoors? Goals indoors. I'm sorry. You should be held a different standard indoors. There's only one guy Matt Brian didn't it's it was the indoor guy. Randy Bullock, Cincinnati McManus Denver again, he gets a lot.

"Welcome to the buccaneers observer, podcasts Ralph Phillips, and I'm Ali bay. So we've got the giants coming up. We've had some news this week. We got rid of Chandler Kenton zero. No surprise there and sign Cairo's Santos. He played for Kansas City. Chicago New York. He's been plagued by a groin injury. Also. Yeah. Well that started in Kansas City, and then it's kind of been recurring. So he was actually on. I r in two thousand seventeen with the jets we rose scraping the bottom of the barrel. Here he visited the bucks last year. And he said that this was his top choice limited through this. We've had a string of kickers come in here over the past several years ever since we got rid of my Matt Brian really, what is the problem? I know mafia, or is this is just a theory. It's got to be angered. The punter. He does the place holding and he has for every kicker. That's come in. And they just suck he thinks. Well, that's the only common denominator. Wow. You know? I don't understand why we don't have James Wisden or somebody'll ball handler doing the place holding don't you think that would have occurred to them by Alabel to change that variable little no, man. Oh, man. I just think obvious to me that I mean, if you've got this mini kickers coming in and they call keep performing badly. It's got to be something other than the kickers. There's not a whole lot. You can try. I don't think hunter of arson outbound low coder. Bart did good. I don't understand why we got rid of him. I don't either. When that levee. I don't understand why we got rid of member. I don't understand why you get rid of any kicker that performs oil. Yeah. But teams do it all the time. I mean, look at a danika hausky. I mean, he's playing for what Seattle now chicken will. He was never taken banned. Then in Terry penitentiary. He's still in the league, right? Oh, it's like Dallas did Ridha Bailey. Why would you do that consistent? Good kicker. Right. And you can get rid of them. I don't understand. And what's the difference between like premium kicker money, and mediocre kicker money like not that much? It's nominal nominal. Maybe a million two million rate year. But when. Your salary. I don't even know what the salary cap is anymore hundred fifty million. So we're up in there. I think it goes up to a million every year now. So that's not even though per cent lower than the rate of inflation for NFL salary cap. I don't know people just have a weird thing with kicker is man. It's a the teams do they just don't wanna pay on the certain amount. And they're like once you hit that three million a year cut off or whatever it is that you're gone, and they can play forever, right? Matt Bryant he's like forty three. There's another on right? He's every time. He's on the field pits. Janikowski jankowski. Yeah. You're right. Kicker little sideline. Smoking a cigarette. Path swig on the field right before he kicks. They can do that. Yeah. I've always said, I would I would like my son to be a kicker because us man, that's a lot of money to do a little bit of word. How often are you really on the field and you make like maybe three tackles a year, which really nobody wants to do that. But right now in. I'd like to run over towards tackling like pull up my hamstring. So hurt the help. But you know, how humiliating it must be to get tackled by the kick. Molly loves to say that when she sees a guy by the kicker or the running back. She's like oh. Ragged on the locker room. And then a close third is when the quarterback tackles you like if you're getting picked off like we just watched the giants Redskins game and Alex Smith got intercepted or I don't know Redskins turn the ball over and then Alex Smith Ray, unlike thirty yards and tack on the linebacker like really lying. Can't out run quarterback or Al muscle. Emmy just staring down. He broke all them over something embarrassing so anyway, nuke acre..

"Giorgio tha Vecchio was outstanding in that giant's game for guy that just gotten signed is the most successful kicker in the NFL since I guess the nineteen sixties to just come off come off being a free agent in sang with team hitting those kinds of Phil goals. I think the team has not cut him for a very specific reason, which is because they got him on contract in two thousand nineteen right now it's a two year deal with Matt Bryant ailing and him being forty three and kicking fifty yard or in hurry his hamstring. We think. He'll be back this week. We don't know that for sure I think the fact that he's not that the fact that the tobacco villain the roster indicates for sure it is status doubt this week. But also at the same time. It's like the falcons you had this guy come out really, really good. Like, he does a really good job as a proven kicker and your other kicker is in his mid forties. Almost what do you do there? I mean, do you let money go earlier than anticipated you run with tha Vecchio? I mean, do you let to ECU finish the season put that Bryant on our if things are specially are not going the way that you would hope in see if he could really be your future because again, the kicking in the NFL is really bad unless you're really good at it. I know that sounds like the most obvious statement. But it's like if you're not good at kicking. If you are good at kicking great teams. Don't have that kickers is one thing the constant. If you have a good kicker typically means there's a good team. Team that new to get back with kicker. So tha Vecchio could be that guy for the next ten fifteen years. You really think -lanta as much Matt Brian has been crucial to this franchise or you let the money man, go out the way he wants to let Vecchio stick around this year and go elsewhere next year on Roma to kickers next year. There's just it's difficult for them to be in because a Matt Ryan health. But what what would you do if you without? Yes. So I mean, this has been a topic that's sort of been like elephant in the room. No one's really talking about it so far. But it's it's there, and it's it's you know, we've got address it soon. I mean, there's absolutely a kicker controversy in Atlanta. And so the way I see the rest of the season shaping out at least, I think we're going to let Matt Bryant rest as long as he needs to you know, recuperate as long as he needs to those soon as he tows in quid. Hey, I'm one hundred percent ready to kill. I think we're gonna bring that. Right back in Giorgio has been amazing. And it's really great that we managed to find someone who really, you know, saved our skins this last game. And he definitely has the resume to be the guy to carry us forward in the future. But you know, right now with all that Matt has done I think he's still he's still the the guy he still money into Matt starts to see a significant decrease in production. I don't think you know, we'll give that the reins over Georgia just yet. But I can actually see us carrying two kickers next season because of a map Bryant's age, and and at this age, you don't know how quickly that decline come for some, you know, if you're Tom Brady does the client. We haven't even notice it yet. But you know, Matt Bryant's kicker, and it's his production has been great so far. But if once it starts to dip, I think Georgia will absolutely be the gotta take over if it's, you know, within the next season or to otherwise, you know, Matt Ryan guy, George go to another team and. Conversation..
