"Yes. And you're enjoying it, having a blast. It's been amazing. Just the opportunity to have this platform. Has been a blessing, but then I think the caliber of guests, you know, I was telling you before we started, we had a 6 week run where we had Magic Johnson Charles Barkley and finished it off with Isiah Thomas. And the right form magic we had Will Smith. So the ability to, you know, have a chance to sit down with people you grew up idolizing or former teammates and my goal with that show is always creating an environment where they feel comfortable and humanizing these guys. We know why stuff is a great shooter, but what is he like off the court or KD or magic or any of these people Charles? I always wanted to show the fan base the other side of the people they love. And we've been pretty successful at doing that, man. So yeah, shout out Jack and showtime and everyone else behind the scenes that makes it go. So who do you want on? Who do you and Steven won on that you haven't had on? Wave of wand and they're amongst the most likely. Dr. Dre, my whole goal with this stuff is I want to transition into mainstream media. Like I love sports to death, but I want to talk to you on ESPN all the time. But I'm talking about outside of sports. I got you. Just media in general. You know, Michael Strahan kind of path. So I just like talking to all different kinds of people from different walks of life, different genres, different ethnicities and just really talking about life. So, but if I had to choose one or two guys, it would probably be Jay-Z and Dr. Dre or maybe a Jimmy ivy and I saw Jimmy last night. Yeah, I can't snoop, help you with that, too. Yeah, but you know those guys are busy. It's a thing where I kind of have to grab them. So yeah, maybe one day. But you're Matt Barnes. I'm trying to climb. I'm down there. Come on, now. I mean, you can get these guys, I'm sure. We got to get you. Well, we got to get you. Yes, I would be. Now you said that the last time you were here. Jack might have said that. I don't said

"Need him to be healthy. They're going to need him to get minutes. And so lean on embiid. I say all that to say, I don't know. I think that's what makes it great. You know, normally we know who is going to be there, who's going to win, and I think the Eastern Conference might be a little bit easier to guess with all due respect to, I think there's three teams there. I think it's Milwaukee, Boston, and Philly in that order. But to me Boston can leapfrog of Giannis is not a 100%. And then the west is wide open. It's whoever stays healthy and whoever gets hot. Whoever stays healthy and whoever gets hot. At the end of last night's son's clippers game, did you see Paul and Kauai sort of bump shoulders without making eye contact? I like it. Would you want to can you decipher that? Can you believe it? It's playoff basketball. You know what I mean? I came in in the early 2000s where it wasn't about buddy buddy being friends. You know what I mean? If we would have seen this back in the late 90s or 80s, like we wouldn't even care. It could have been, you know, some punches thrown after that. But I think that everyone is so buddy buddy now that when people are about their business, like both of those men are, it's a big deal. Like, no, they bump each other. They don't have to say hi. They don't have to acknowledge each other. Like they're going to war right now. And May the best team win. And then you also see someone like Russ and KD kind of somewhat get into it during the game, and then after the game, they dap each other up. So you just never really know what guys minds are. But if we're if my homeboys on that other team and we're going to war against each other, I'm fine with not talking to him the entire series. Did you do that when you played? Yeah. Like I said, we could be very cool after the game after the series, but we want to win right now. And I think that's all it was. I don't think those guys hate each other, I'm talking about Kauai and Chris, but I know they both want to win. Was Kobe that way with his teammates? Absolutely. He said with his teammates too, yeah. Yeah, you don't bring it in he won't even say he'll just stare at you. Or not say nothing to see you. If you're not bringing it, you know about the mamba stare, you know what I mean? You know, burn a hole through you with his eyes, you know what I mean? He never really had to burn the holes through me because I was always with it. But there were some other teammates that wouldn't play up to their abilities or he felt were scared or had bad games. And he would give you that look, but that look was enough to snap you out of whatever BS year and be ready to go the next game. But you would never on the business end of the month. No, no, no. We were we were on the same page. I mean, COVID was my guy. And he knew I was ready to run through a wall, so. My gosh. And again, you were on his final playoff team, by the way, never made it back to the playoffs after that 2011, 2012 team. You got to respect that too in a day and age where, you know, one thing when Kobe's to talk. Was I want to sit at the table with MJ. Meaning he wanted that 6th ring. So we live in a league now where guys are jumping around. But the one thing I respected about COVID was, you know, he literally rode that ship until it sunk. And he rode his body until it nearly fell apart. And then gave us one last 60 piece on his way out. That's right. What a night that was. All right. And then yeah, that Lake or team, I wrote it down here. You lost in four pardon me. You lost in that series too. Oklahoma City, which was Ross Durant and harden his 6th man. Yep, perk. I think they have big park. They had Sergio baca. They had a good team. Man, oh man. Yep, back in that day. Lost in 5 in round two to that team. And Durant's now playing Russ, and hardens in Philadelphia, unbelievable. I would like to take a break. I want to come back and talk about your show and stuff that you're doing right now and go down a little bit more memory lane with you. Let's do it. Let's do it. Matt Barnes is here bringing all the smoke or at least half of it right here on this edition of the rich eisen show, don't you dare move back with Matt and more in a moment. "Talk about deek, man, right? I've deep minced numbers here. You go back to the last few years. Last year, three 8 6 ERA in Oakland, the year before that, O four two very good, although only in 21 innings. Before that, four 6 5 four 7 three two 5 three three 44 one, he comes and goes. He comes and goes. You don't necessarily know what you're getting with him. And they found pitchers in their mid to late 30s before and turned them into studs. We all remember Koji. That's kind of a one in a million. I don't know that DeepMind's going to be Koji, but at the same time, they've done this before. We just don't know. And that's what makes it so scary. All right, Garrett whitlock. You referenced it locking him up for four year extension. This year is making $720,000. After this year, four years, $18.75 million to me, that's a steal. And I give all the credit in the world to VP of baseball operations, baseball president, home bloom. 1.2 million next year, 3.5, the next 5.5 in 2024 and the final year of the deal 2025, 7 and a half $1 million. Don't you think that's a steal? It really is. I mean, for a top end pitcher and again, all the more reason you got to put this guy in starting rotation. That money for a top end starter is unbelievable. We don't know that he's a top end starter yet. He's 26. But he has the potential to be. He has the potential to be. I think you have a big difference. I think you have to at least find out. I think you have to at least find out. But yeah, no, it's I'm sorry. Not to dig back in my own narrative. You're right. Whatever he ends up doing. Even if he's a closer, what did Barnes extension go for last year? That was what, 12 per, I think of it here and just give me one minute. Keep talking. Matt Barnes, I got it. It was two years, $18.75 million for this year and next year with an opt out 24. Yeah, I did so much. I did all the research I need to for the show clearly. Yeah, you look at that money. It Barton's was obviously an all star closer last year when he signed that extension. He fell apart in the second half, but the ink was already dry at that point. Whitlock last year was an all star caliber pitcher. He didn't get in, but I mean, we need a one something ERA. He's strikeout ratio was enormous. To compare those two deals, it's an absolute runaway steal for the Red Sox. I'm surprised whitlock signed.

"Got it. So and now these are all my caveat. These are all ones that I made up, but we know that there are so many educational podcasts out there. So it's maybe it's possible that there's already one that is like this, but I apologize if there is. I'm hoping a lot of ways there's not. But anyway, and of course, free bonus idea for a new podcast, anyone out there. There you go. Okay, are you ready for your first one? I am. Okay. This podcast is hosted by Matty mohs, a Professor of psychology and author of the book, middle school can be embarrassing. A guide to helping teachers help students in overcoming those awkward middle years. And it rhymes with game. Is that what they are? That'll be the education. Oh, well, can I phone a friend? Is there an option? Nope. Education, I think, is it the education shame? There you go. All right. You got it. Right. All right. Okay, the next one. Yes. Hosted by a criminologist Sally fourth and her colleague detective Truman can. This is the true crime podcast, educators and students have been waiting for. An homage to the podcast cereal, their most popular series of episodes explored whether Johnny really stole the answers to the history quiz or was he set up to take the fall. I think I got this one. The education frame yes, you did. Right. That's great. That's great. Okay. That's fun. This one will depend on sort of your knowledge of pop culture. Oh boy. In the 80s. Okay, here we go. This podcast is specifically for teachers and students who teach at or go to performing arts high schools. It's hosted by Lydia, the dance teacher from the high school of performing arts, and her former students coco and Leroy. Yes. One of the many tips they give both teachers and students is that it's important to break out into song and dance, but sadly, this podcast won't last forever. The education fame. And just so you just small fact here, my daughter went to the equivalent here in Houston of the high school for performing and visual arts. So if you hadn't gotten that one you would have been in big trouble. I would, but she was only there for a year and then she quit, so. Right. That's right. That was the one that she went for you. She was a walkout. All right. Okay, oh, this one might be hard, I don't know. This podcast hosted by older British actresses Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Helen Mirren.

"Source information, how to curate it, how to know what is real and what's not, how to develop their own learning plan, how to create systems for them to learn. These are learning coaching skills that I don't think teachers are generally taught, but this is kind of the shift of in my thinking about how learning should look in the future. If we're going to empower kids to learn, they can't just do that without support. And if the teacher's going to play that role, our teachers prepared to shift into a different type of role on one less that's giving content, one that's more that's helping the learner develop in curate their own content. Right, exactly. The way I think of it is helping the students like you said to guide them to coach them to be able to discover. Content and to explore it and how to do that. And what you said is so true because they need critical thinking skills. And I think that's one of the biggest problems in education is we are not teaching our critical thinking skills. And that, yeah, so fantastic. Well, wow. So much there. My head is spinning in a great way, so exciting. I hope everybody else is excited for changing. It's a little overwhelming, too, because it's a little, you know, there's so much, but I love that you're saying, you know, yes, it's going to take a global movement, but we're going to do it. And I think that's fantastic. And the fact that you're so much about engaging parents. And I think that's such a missing piece with so many so many institutions. So love it. Yeah. It's terribly hard and I know institutions have been trying for years. I've been a part of them. I used to do parent engagement work at districts in Texas and in Oklahoma. But we can do a lot better. And that's kind of where I've been doing my work..

"It's not true. It's not going to happen. If you even hope that your college degree will somehow help you 5 years out of college, it's not what will help use your ability to learn in your ability to learn on your own without any sort of institutional pressure to do so. So 100% parental leadership exhaustive student agency and autonomy and a radical redefinition of educational success are the three pillars of this global educational movement. I'm just like nodding my head, yes, yes, yes. No, it's not easy, of course. I'm so excited to see what happens. Well, yeah, well, I guess, you know, one of the things that's clear to me is that this sort of change is going to require thousands, millions of people and there's going to have to be and we learned this from Gregson's book, that will have to be some places of overall agreement around which enough people can form that then can move the movement forward. And so that's what I put those three out there as a plant my flag and I've gotten some folks that say, I don't like the idea of a hundred percent parental leadership. I'm like, okay. 80%, you good with 80%? Yeah, they're good with 80%. Good. Then you're part of the team. Yeah. But anytime someone says the system should be deciding what kids should learn, that's when we really part company. I think that one of the reasons why I wanted to do this podcast actually was because I also wanted parents and students to know what great education could and should be. And I think that one of the issues is goes back to what you said earlier that parents only know generally speaking, what their experience in school was. So they don't even know what it could be. And the danger is not what you know and are afraid of. The danger is what you don't know about. Exactly. That's where parents are really, really and kids are really, really putting themselves into a trap. So yeah, I hear you on that. One of the things that the school Arte preparatory, which is now qualia, the school for deeper learning. One of the things that we did to kind of help parents understand all the different ways that we are working with their kids is that we actually held an open in the open house instead of just a teacher. They would go to these different sort of classes, sort of model classes and experience which ones and I did because I love game based learning..

"And most of the time those of us who want to change education and I fall guilty of this sometimes, we try to browbeat people into coming to our position. Instead of trying to become an inviter, right? And so now when I talk to people who may be an education or outside of education, I'm really trying to invite them to consider another way rather than to shame them because they're not on board with what I consider the right way. Great. Yeah. So we meet every week for every Thursday at one p.m. Eastern Time. That'd be ten a.m. Pacific time. And we've got people from all over the world. We're setting up a second one. We're calling it global education movement east. And that is going to be for India, while Asia, Australia and the Middle East. And so yeah, we're going to see if we can get a lot of people who really want to see education change, learn how to do it and then begin to push on the system from the bottom up rather than waiting for legislators to change things, which good luck with that one. Right. Oh my gosh, what an amazing project. I don't know what the word is. I don't know what object it's a movement. A movement. It's an amazing movement. There are so many educators out there that I talk to and parents out there who really want to see change happen and there's so many educators if people are listening to this podcast. It's probably because they want to be part of that change. And so I'm very excited to be able to hopefully participate. We'd love to have you. It's a small group, but we have about 200 people on this side of the world and the other side of the world they're building up their base of people as well. So we'll see what happens. But again, I want to point out though that there are some pillars that this movement is forming around. Yes. I wanted to suggest that. Yeah, this is really important because many folks may not agree with these in which case it's probably not the right conversation or the right place for people to gather. If you don't buy into at least some element of what I'm about to describe. And so the first part of these three pillars is that the role of the parent has to be central. It has to be absolutely the most important pillar of the child's learning journey because the parent controls so much of the learning experience of the child. And so when I talk about the parent, I talk about 100% parental leadership. By the way, my background is not only administration or boards of universities, but I actually was a pediatric administrator at a hospital. Wow..

"I've actually had the privilege of teaching. I think pretty much every almost every school I've taught in and I've been teaching for been an education for 25 years. And I've been very lucky to be in schools where I have to create my own curriculum. And so in the beginning of my teaching years, that was really challenging, of course. But I really came to appreciate it so much because if I don't make it to the end of my curriculum, who's going to know, it's just me. And I remember one year out of 25, I was like, oh my gosh, I got to the end of my curriculum. That's so amazing. One year, I don't talk about it. You know, I want to go deeper and I'm going to help students actually learn. So if we go off in a different direction for a little bit, it's okay. Right. So that's where the real learning is, so. Exactly. Well, and that's, you know, that's interesting because we all approach learning now as if it's linear. Right. Learning has never been linear. We learn we'll be talking about something. I mean, this is like I do this all the time now, right? I'll be talking to someone, they'll mention a book, and I'll go, oh, that sounds interesting. And I'll order the book. And next thing you know I'm reading about Mars or something completely unrelated. But that type of learning is somewhat random. You can't predict it, but yet our systems require the teacher to say, okay, on this date, the children should be at this point and they should be moving in this direction. And that's just not realistic. Yeah, absolutely. Now, you mentioned sort of in passing about this gathering of educators and I think it's amazing because it's believe you call it the global education movement. And so I really it's very exciting for me to hear about and I'm hoping to be able to join you. I'd love to hear more about it to tell people what it's about and what your goals are and so forth. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, thanks for bringing that up. Yeah, but global education movement is a LinkedIn group that myself in a young man, I call him a young man because he's in his 30s. Hear that. Yeah, in the UK, we said, you know what? We've got to we've got to see if we can get some people together to actually create a movement that's trying to push education to change. And this movement, by the way, and the people who are gathering are not just educators, it's kind of everybody who believes that education the way it's structured now is antiquated. So we have teachers we have administrators today. There was a principle at a school that was involved in the conversation. The woman who was a speaker was a former teacher who wrote a book about consciousness in education, like the idea that there's more than just book learning that these kids should be learning, right? So we meet at every week, and it started actually a week ago. I mean, we've had a couple meetings, but a week ago, I said, we're going to meet every week for the next 5 months. And then at the end of 5 months, I'll evaluate and we'll figure out what we do next. But last week, we had a guy named Greg sitel, who is a bestselling author of a book called cascades and the book is all about how movements are formed..

"I have three episodes on going grade list. So that's definitely part of it. I have a couple about getting rid of standardized tests. That's a huge thing. It's all about developing curiosity as you said. So there's a quote that you use and I think might have been the thing that originally attracted me to wanting to have you on this show is when you describe this. But you're, quote, was why normal is broken and it's really like a statement. My normal is broken, and you want to be weird. So to break that down for us. Yes. Yes. So yeah, normal is broken in schools. From now on, weird winds is one of the things I oftentimes say. So another thing I have said often times is if your child school looks feels tastes or smells like the school you attended when you were a child, then you have a big problem. Everything in the world has shifted almost a 180° in the last 20 years, maybe 25 years at most. But the system of education is the exact same system that you and I went to in my parents went to. My grandparents went to. So if we are really thinking about normal, the normal school being effective in this new world, then we're really, really we're kidding ourselves. Right. So when I say the weird wins, my kids are weird. Your kids are probably weird, weird in the sense that they have some sense about what they're trying to learn. They are curious. They don't need someone to hold her hand or to look over their shoulder for them to learn. That's weird nowadays. Weird now is what adults are going to be required to have going forward, right? Right. Those type of kids are going to be able to adjust in any world or economic disruption. Right..

"Things are. It's a big question. Yeah. No, it's a lot. And that's the $1 million question. We just got done with a gathering virtual gathering where we talked about some of this very issue. But what I say to schools and administrators, I actually, or teachers and administrators, I separate the conversation. So for teachers, I ask teachers all the time, what do they want? What would they whoops the dream environment for their, for their learners? And it's very closely mimics what I just describe. They want learners to be independent. They want learners to be excited about learning curious to be autonomous and have high sense of agency. They want that, but the system they're in doesn't. The system, they're in is built to create dependent learners. So for teachers who want this, here's my strategy. I say that they, the teacher have to have to build incredible buy in from their parents of their kids. And the reason I say this is because the minute the teacher begins to really reshape his or her classroom to build agency to build autonomy to build curiosity, their administration is going to come down on them like a ton of bricks. Because those kids will not be ready for the XYZ standardized test of the week or month. They won't be able to be measured in these traditional ways that we measured. So the administration is going to come down on that teacher, the teacher's going to get frustrated and eventually leave. And that's usually what happens to the teachers that are the most creative that John gots of the world, the folks that are really trying to build lifelong learners. So parents, though, when a parent buys into this idea, the parent now can defend the teacher from the administration. The parent can now give the teacher cover when the teacher wants to say, you know what kids we're going to throw this book away. And we're going to ask you, what do you want to learn today? And I want you to develop your own learning plan and let's build that. Right. And again, the parent can say to the teacher and the administration, hey, this is what I want for my kid. Let this teacher continue doing this work or you're going to have to tussle with me administration. Right. So that's the conversation I would have with teachers. How do you do that? That's a longer conversation. We can get into that if you'd like to today. For the administration, my language is a little sharper, to be the administration, I'm going to having sat on several boards. I kind of know the thinking here. The goal of the administration is to preserve the institution and to improve its function. It's not about the learner. It's about the institution. Again, I look at myself. I was as responsible for devastating kids for 20 years as any other administrator. I absolutely believe that I was doing the right thing by demanding standards and demanding rigidity and not allowing creative thought to enter the classroom. I thought I was doing the right thing and now I'm trying to redeem. Redeem myself exactly. So for administration, the really harder question, because really it's like you're going to need to fight the parents on this. And parents are going to win..

"And I think, look, here's the thing about it. People who say it's just going to be Tampa Bay north or insane, because first of all, if you can get the system working like Tampa Bay has and all of a sudden here comes wonder Franco and all these young players and pitchers who you've never heard of, who are great. Sign me up for that. But guess what the Red Sox are going to do that the rays will never do. They're going to also spend enormous amounts of cash. So in modern baseball, you look at the Astros. You look at the Dodgers. These teams have waves of young prospects that not only can come up and help you the big league level. But that's the reason the Dodgers were able to trade for Max Scherzer and trade Turner. And all these teams are able to manipulate and make moves because they've got depth in the minor league system. It's the only sustainable way to win. The Red Sox will keep their superstars around like Devers and bogarts. They will build from within. They might have another wave of superstars with guys named Tristan casas and some others and Nick York. And Marcelo Meyer, these guys are coming, and then you still have the checkbook and the financial ability and heft to go out and make the big moves. So to have both puts you in an unbelievable position of strength. You brought up Daniel Bard. And you know where I'm going to go with this? Let's hear it. Matt Barnes. And obviously, he did not have the second half that the Red Sox Alex core made reference to this, of course, that they still believe he is a big part of their plans. But it was precipitous. I mean, obviously, he missed the two weeks or two, two and a half weeks with COVID. But the fall off was precipitous, I believe the stat was he didn't have save after August 5th. And it just, there was no production and he couldn't find the plate, and it was that painful at times to watch him on the mound trying to find command. For a will. What do you think the problem was? And do they have deep down deep belief that he'll bounce back in 2022? I love a good two parter, Mike. I can't look in their souls, but I will tell you that they have to be concerned. And they are a little bit with Matt. He's been so overworked. I think maybe four or 5 times he's had more than 65 appearances in seasons, and it sure looked like he really hit a wall this season. And maybe that's because of the shortened COVID year last season and now another big workload. The one thing that you kind of hold your breath and hope on is that the change in the rules in big league baseball is not the reason that that Barnes kind of fell off the clip. Because if you look at the before and after when big league baseball really started to crack down, it's a troubling sort of split. Look, I don't think anybody's writing Matt Barnes off at all. He's had such a pedigree. He was just an unbelievable all star caliber reliever. I think big league baseball is going to try some new prototypes of baseball's coming up here that are already like pre tacky. And we'll see how that goes into spring training next year. Maybe that helps Barnes with fastball command and have that wicked curveball combo..

"So you have that on Friday night with your best picture who leads the who led the AL and FIP by the way coming into this one. You'll let that happen. Cy Young candidate. Sorry young candidate. And then you spoil a Nick pavetta Jim. He goes 5 and a third gives up one on 90 pitches. He had no business doing that, but if any team's gonna let him do that, but it's the New York Yankees. He did it. Yeah, he did it. Then Tanner, how can Darwin's in Hernandez? Whatever happened there happened there. And then on Sunday Night, again, tailor made. Eduardo Rodriguez, who's owned the Yankees this year, I still don't understand why it goes 5 innings allows to strikes out 8. Two or three of which should not have been strikeouts, but he got him. Struck out 8 batteries. You got the start you needed from a guy who has no business. He's a 5 ERA coming into this one four 9 70 RA coming into this one. Has no business pitching like this against the Yankees? Does it again anyway for the fourth time this year? Because one of his other outings was only an inning long. So you get exactly what you need. You'll let Jordan Montgomery battle you down down as hard as he possibly can in the Yankees have a fairly well rested bullpen. So like, you had the chances to get after Montgomery. He was giving up hard contact in the fourth and the 5th. And then Garrett Richards, is that the guy who's coming in, you know? I just don't know. I haven't watched enough Red Sox this year, but again, this is what I allude to about everything else. Just take advantage of the bullpen. This is not a good bullpen. I understand Alex core has pressed a lot of buttons and it's put guys in the right situations, but overall the talent's not there. The roles are largely not there. We saw hansel robles in the series, Garrett Richards, adamant of vino, Ryan brazier, Darwin's international Tanner hauck, like Matt Barnes, Martin Perez, Ryan brazier was good. Yeah, Ryan brazier was good, but at that point, it didn't matter. He recalls we saw a Mora like a lot of I don't know. I can't be all really critical because I don't watch enough of the Red Sox, but that seems like questionable use to me. Sal Moore is a pretty good arm. Matt Barnes is certainly better than these other guys. Why do they come in in the first inning? We saw him for one more came in for two and a third, and that was it in the first game. And then Matt Barnes comes in for one and then you have a three two lead on Sunday in order to salvage this entire thing and then you go to Garrett Richards and Adam out of vino. I just don't, I mean, arvin's ERA went over a four after that. But Garret Richards, I know he's been better in the bullpen, but he's still not that good of a pitcher. And Adam Avino against his former team, I know like you can only test your luck trying to play trying to mine fuck your opponent. I think Alex gore should know that at this point, he won the first mind fuck, then he goes for the second one trying to bring out a vino out there to punk the Yankees again. You know that's not gonna happen again. He already did it how many times did he do it earlier and they're using like two or three September out of vino is just a different guy..

"I think he's best off as kind of like what his role will be will be that too who can certainly run pick and roll for you, but he's not going to be the guy bringing the ball down the court every single time. And I think it's just because he's just not that explosive off the dribble. And what's good for him is that it seems like his pull up three point game is coming along a little bit better. So if you're not going to destroy guys going over screens, as a point guard, you at least need to threaten teams that you're going to pull up and shoot from 30 feet out. And that makes you viable. And it seems like that could be a part of its game, but of course, keep in mind that while he's only in a second year he also is like almost 24 at this point. It's got to be close to that at this point. So he is a relatively old rookie. So I would expect him to continue to improve until his fourth year, but I don't know if he's going to make a big leap after year four. So I don't see a huge horizon for his development curve just because of his age. He'll be entering his prime almost at that point. So I think that the true thing is good for him because I guess the truth is not that different from Kemba Walker. But it's another better in point guard who's really crafty getting to the hoop who can help him learn more skills to become that kind of guy because prichard's major weakness is just getting to the rim. Like you can't really drive into an MBA defense and what he does, his main go to move is to pick up his dribble and pivot his way to an off balance layup. And that doesn't work against most good defenses in the MBA, but he's just crafty and tough enough to make it work. We'll get back to some of our questions. And of course, your Twitter questions in just a moment, but one more break want to tell you about wealth. Matt Barnes: trade rumors are a 'monster'
"Forget the trade rumors of crate monster. Okay. You're on a team or this happened. You guys got off a plane. No, we had a crazy situation when I was with the clippers. I wanna say it was two thousand fourteen and we were flying to Memphis. The day of the trade deadline won't say we sat on the runway for over two and a half hours while we're on Twitter at the time Antoine. Jamison got traded Byron Mullins got. So these guys are getting off the plane on LAX runway because they had been traded in the final trae that was supposed to go down with myself and Darren collison for Iman Shumpert in Raymond Felton. So we're sitting there just uncomfortable. Awkward the whole plane of silent. Everyone's kind on their phones. Like bumping each. I like, oh, David Thuan. Just got traded. Molly got traded. Oh, damn. They're talking about you. And you and call us in our. Are gonna get traded to the Knicks. So for people to say that, you know, they're professionals you just need to wait until you're in that situation. You never know how you're gonna react. And I want to say I was probably twenty nine or thirty at the time maybe a little bit older. And it still shook me, you know, what I mean? So these kids are in their early twenties playing for the Lakers playing with LeBron. So it's hard to really say, you're should be a pro and that shouldn't affect you. Because it's not true. Matt who were you upset with owner team player? Coach who will dock was everything at the time. You know, that's back when doc was GM. Right. President and head coach you know, what I mean? So it's a tough situation than after the fact doctrine pulled aside once we got Memphis and explain the situation, I wasn't buying it. You know what I mean? Like, you take it personal as a player you said because it's more than just you leaving and putting on a different uniform. I have kids I have a family. I got to go to a city auto possibly want to go to. So a lot plays into that. I mean who would want to go from L A to New Orleans, you know, with all due respect. But just who would you know what I mean? So a lot really comes into that. So like I said they're going to have to deal with this for a while. In hopefully, he can get these guys back on the same page and believing because him and his agent and magic really shook the cage. And now you've got a bunch of young guys kind of not really sure of
