"He makes the catch on the warning track, and this one is over. 10 3 the final the Brewers take down the Cleveland Indians game. One of this series crew has won three in a row, now live from Annex Wealth Management Studios at Radio City in Milwaukee with Jerry Augustine. Here's Matt. Bali. They just keep winning. They just keep winning. Another win for the Brewers today is they knock off Cleveland by 10 3 score in a game where Adrian House are really weird line, this is about as weird of a line as you're going to see two runs. None earned. One hit five strikeouts, five walks, He gets the win. He doesn't give up and earned run. Just a weird line for him. A bunch of home runs being hit in this game, Lorenzo Cain hitting a Grand Slam. Just a lot of things happening. A lot of things happening in this game and the Brewers come away with the wind. 10 3. The magic number drops one. It will only drop one. Cincinnati got to win tonight against ST Louis by a four to score as the Reds continue to really stay in contention for a wild card spot. They're not trailing the Padres by a half game, and the Padres and the Dodgers have no score at the moment. In the top third will keep you updated all that as we go along through the evening, have you for the next 57 minutes up until 11 o'clock this evening. Want to join us? Break things down more in depth as we go along throughout the course of the program, But just from a from a really general perspective, what a weird line for Adriana Hauser. Yeah, You know how competitive he's been in how he's been going out and being able to dominate the strike zone. I think you know, every once a while as a as a starting pitcher. You get out and you have fueled for different pitches or the scouting report might be a bit different. You want to go out and start a little bit different way. I thought tonight and he went out as opposed to last time. Last time, he was just dominating with his fastball, as could locate it through the great spots this time. I think he wanted to start the game and show the Cleveland Indians that he could still throw All his pitches, and he really did. He threw a lot of different pitches in that first inning, got behind a lot of guys and he faced a guys. Five of those guys used behind any other couple misplaced, but he bounced back so well. 3 to 6 innings were clean innings. You started getting commanded a fastball, and I think the one thing I like the bottom tonight. He used help. Variety of pitches, uses change abuses. Breaking ball had a good overhand breaking ball today, along with slider. Mixes pitches up well, but I like the way from that first inning where you say, Well, it could be a social night He bounced back and made it a very good day. Yeah, we'll certainly get more into his day and his usage and the pictures that he threw today and then bullpen comes in. And for the most part does a pretty nice job. Obviously, from an offensive standpoint, uh, again A good day. Luis. Curious hit another home run a little bit of an off day Defensively Forum. That's You get worried about your recent shortstop that maybe he gets over exposed From a defensive standpoint, he did not play great from a defensive standpoint in the series finale against the Phillies on Wednesday. It doesn't have a great defensive day today, but he keeps hitting and that's that's kind of the bottom line. It scares you when you think about him in the postseason, but the same time he's been a much better defensive third baseman that has been a defensive shortstop, so The defensive issues that maybe we see it. Shortstop are not. You don't apply them quite as much to his where he might be during the postseason, because you would think it hope that William Thomas is going to be back at Domus is on the road to returning as a timer. Taylor. Same thing. Tyronn Taylor had to a rehab assignment, so he should be back sooner than later as well. So the Brewers seemingly getting healthy They just keep winning baseball games. Even I don't think they played their best baseball game today, and they still want to game by a 10 3 score, which is, um which is something it is absolutely something brewers get the wind today again. "Used so much so much annoyingly so much going into the season was bounced back. That was the word we used over and over and over. When you look at the guys that we talked about, Ah, lot of those guys. They're having those bounce back seasons. Avisail Garcia is absolutely having Compounce back season. There you go, Greg hitting the ding, your light ups, manager Insights and a preview of tonight's game. Came right now. This is Brewer's warm up. Here's Matt Bali. What a day we've had today. Here on Wtmj. Also on our sister station, 94 5, ESPN three games between the Brewers in the bubble, We hope We hope three games between the Brewers in the box and attempted three games between the Brewers in the box. We've gotten two of them in and both victories. Bucks were able to finish off the Miami heat and four the Brewers earlier day they knock off Washington by a 41 score, and now they're looking for a doubleheader sweep tonight. Let's talk a little bit about the weather, because that's what a lot of people are keeping their eye on. They really It was kind of spitting and drizzling and doing stuff like that during the first game. But they were able to get through. They were able to get through it. And that was that was good. Now the question is, Can they get through the second game? That is a very good question. When you take a look at the radar I'm not a meteorologist. I don't play one on the radio. All I can do is bring up the weather dot com app and press play on the radar, and especially when it's got the projected times and tell you when the green stuff is on top of the area where they're trying to play baseball game. So I could tell you that that green stuff it gets over the Nationals ballpark but seven o'clock central time. That's that's the projection as it is right now. Hey, you never know it could go North. Could go south. It could break up. Whether does weird, funky things, but we might We might be in for a long evening together here on WTMJ, and that's OK. That's OK. We've had a long day. We're ready to have a long evening and we'll see if the Brewers cannot pull off the doubleheader sweep today. Of the Washington Nationals. Goodwin Goodwin in that first game in case you were completely locked in on what happened with the Bucks game. We will kind of go back through exactly what happened in this first game of our Brewers doubleheader coming up in our next segment. I'll take you till about 5 30 a little bit after And then our network coverage is set to begin in five of 40 different timing Tonight. It is a national TV game. That was another thing about all this so They did this split doubleheader. You know, the day night doubleheader. Part of that was because it is a national TV game tonight. They had to play the first game early enough. That hopefully it would not go so long that it would infringe on the national TV window this evening, so there's been There's been a lot going on, and yeah, they were able to get in the game. That's the most. That's the most important thing. Little history. We're gonna have a history lesson later on this half hour before we take the news at five o'clock based off some things that happened in the game. Today, the starting lineup is out and Christian knowledge is not in the line up. A lot of people are kind of wonder about that on everyday basis. I don't think there was ever going to be the expectation that he would be in the lineup for the second game, having to play two games as he continues to come back from the back issue. Certainly that is something that would not be preferable. So that is the way the lineup is set for game number two. There is no there's no Christian knowledge and we'll see whether or not he actually gets into the game or not hit a triple in the first game by the way, brewers hit for the cycle. Not any individual. The Brewers hit for the cycle. They had four hits in the first game, a single a double a triple at home run. So the Brewers hit for the team cycle, and that was it. There's there's some historic nature to that as well. But how often that has happened in the history of the organization, so we will death certainly discuss that. Coming up later on in the program as well, if you want to chime in 85561616 28 5561616 20 that is the accurate mortgage talking tax line. You can also tweet into the program, if you like at Matt Paulie on air M A T t p a U l E Y on air again. We are watching the weather situation. That is what we have our eyes on and this one tonight. And I think I think we're going to get this one started. I would be relatively surprised if we are able to See it played without some sort of delay, although to be to be fair. I've never won that when I'm wrong. I'm never one that's runs away from the fact that I could be wrong on things I would have said the exact same thing. About game number one that I thought it some point in time there was going to be a delay and there wasn't so I was wrong about that time. But let's hope I'm wrong about this. And the Brewers can play this second game of the twin bill today and be in good shape going into the Syriza finale coming up tomorrow afternoon again. "They experience ways centers where where's weekly with Matt Bali on WTMJ? 11 pitch. This is lined in the left and down for a basin. Edmund's going to store owners around third. He's going to score. It's seven nothing. Cardinals, Fowler stops its second. Both of those runs charged to Korea on the six thing has been troublesome inning so far for the crew. Having too much fun with cardinals highlights. Yeah, Holden Wow. Yeah, I'm kind of conflicted that you know it's Cardinals highlights, but they'll be for Brewers highlights that shortly very, very soon. We just edited down toe. Here's the pitch that's hit done. We don't need to know that the cardinal to score two runs. Hold it Good. It's Brewers Weekly. Here on WTMJ work a shift gears a little bit. It wasn't Was a weird week with some things for Major league baseball. I mean, it's weird world right now. But it was a weird week so the major league baseball owners offered to the players. Deal where They would play 156 games instead of 162 or 154 154. And so the 1 62 so ate less games. They would still get paid their full 162 games salary. They would start the season a month late. They would go a week longer. There'd be a bunch of doubleheaders in there. There'd be the expanded playoffs and there'd be the universal th That's the Those are the bullet points right there. Those are the most important thing so From a very surface level standpoint. I think a lot of people are saying all why I wanted the players go with that. They're still getting paid their full salary for 1 62. Yeah, we're in the middle of a pandemic. You start the season a month late. Yeah, they're gonna play for you double headers to get the expanded playoff, But it's five. Well, why? Why would you not do that? What? What are the players losing? I think a lot of people heard when the players turn that down that it was just players of being contentious for no reason and that They were just there, saying No, but there is they're only saying no because it was coming from the owners and with all due respect, anybody who has that take? I think it's a lazy take, because if there's a lot of new wants to this First off. Like nobody's It's not a benefit to the players to play eight less games and still get salary for 162 games. That's not like a boondoggle away. No, no player is gonna call home. But guess what. I only have to play 154 games this year and I'm still going to buy 162 games salary. Bad We pulled one over on the owners. I guess just that's really not. That much of an incentive. It's just not it's. It's a handful less games. All right, so they're not really giving anything to the two to the players from that point players air worried and I think, rightfully so. Players are worried about the expanded playoff because I think there's a feeling that you have the expanded playoff the barrier to entry to get into the playoff. Could result in owner spending even less money on players. I think there's something to be said for that. If you're an owner, and you're really pinching pennies right now. Yeah, but you still want to be a playoff team. But all of a sudden it's a lot easier to get into the playoffs. Maybe you don't offer out that next big contract that you were thinking about offering out and there is whether that would actually happen or not happen. There is so much distrust right now between players and owners that the players absolutely go to that line of thought. Here's the most important thing here. When you're negotiating You could negotiate for away in two ways negotiating away where each side gets something or negotiate in a way where each side gives a little something up. And If you're the players, and you agree to the expanded playoff what you just did. Was you gave tens of millions of dollars to the major league owners. That's how much the playoffs are worth. And because of the extra national TV money, everything that goes along with it. If you give him the expanded playoff, you are giving them tens of millions of dollars. I don't think it's a good faith situation where you just give that to him. What are you really getting back in that situation? I think if the owners would have come to the players, and I guess we don't really know what always in the proposal. There have been some reports out there. Um, but if if the if the owners go and say 1 54 you get paid for 1 62. We're gonna have a bunch of doubleheaders. We're going to do Universal D h and we're going to do expanded playoff And we're gonna give you half of the extra run revenue from expanded playoff other the owners of the players just jump it that right away. As far as I know. A like a legit revenue share on the expanded playoff was never offered. So if you're the players, and you have seen salaries across Major League baseball drop Now I think it's three straight years. Why are you going to do something That's just going to put all that money back into owner's pockets? So if you want to do that, if you're the owners and you want to do that, and you really think you need to start the season late because of public health reasons. Then the answer is a revenue share when it comes to the expanded playoff, and if you don't offer a revenue share of some sort, it's just not gonna happen. The White House has got involved. The White House wants Major league baseball to start a month late. I don't know, I don't know when Major League baseball is going to start, but I could tell you the proposal that the owners gave to the players was a nonstarter. Now the players didn't didn't respond didn't do a counter offer. I don't like that. If the owners want start the season, they just do what I just said, Send back that exact same offer, but then include half the playoff revenue from the expanded playoff and then put it back on the owners and see what they have to say at that point. And S O not giving a counter offer. I would have rather have seen them do that..

"T. P. A. U. L. E. Y. on air by the way cardinals do take a one oh series lead on the Braves they were able to complete the seven six when in Atlanta so they re claim or they claim I guess you could say home field advantage because games three and four potentially would be in Saint Louis right now bottom of the second inning and the Dodgers are leading the nationals one nothing had the brewers one on Tuesday night that is the game that they would be playing then although that game was going to get started the game was get get started one hour earlier if it was the nationals and it was going to get started one hour later if it was the brewers so if the brewers would have one we would just be coming up I think maybe on the start time of that came to me would star I don't anyway four one four seven nine nine one six twenty four one four seven nine nine one six one is the accurate mortgage talk text line you can tweet and as well at math Polly on air let's go to the phones that Doug is in bear bill has given us call I got your WTMJ. good evening map yeah I was really hoping for one more game at least they but dont think thanks for all your shows I I don't think you missed the holiday or any of the west coast league no extreme everyone. yeah very good yeah. gonna leave a whole. for me my program for the winter don't roars warm up no brewers games no extra innings and then of course we don't have for central anymore so at least we have rules weekly so at that school but just one thing about the last game and a couple other items but that the land I was just hoping that we were gonna see Lyle that I wanted to see the situation with the national did with sure you're in Strasbourg but that's whatever the way it worked out just a couple things from the from the seasonal I would I would get several games and what motional games was when Jimmy Nelson came back from his injury and and pitch I think with an afternoon you I remember right the elevation and tipping of its catenary happen everything that was that was pretty neat and then of course lighter moment was when most the car out there in the center fielder whatever in the sand got the. you know the free car but you know I wonder who if the group have any say in the in the schedule because you know we we open with the cubs which is really weird we're gonna have a sell out anyway and then they have off the which normally that is set up for when you have a a bad weather or something right they can't play and we have a root so I don't know if major leagues looking at that or the brewers have a saying but I know if you have any information on that but I'll be there no doubt. yeah it does I purchased for cold on the scheduling stuff so I Hey I'm sure the brewers when they them getting the cubs scheduled as the first game of the season cost the brewers money because that is gear as as Doug alluded to this opening day is guaranteed to be a sell out most Cup games are sellouts so you're taking to sell out crowds potentially and you're putting them into one game so that's that that's stakes I don't know what the process is like with Major League Baseball I know that IT teams if there's big events going on in the city or something like that they can save Major League Baseball Hey we'd rather not be home during this period Hey we'd rather be at home during this period you can make a request to the schedule makers they don't have to follow the request but you can make those request I also know a tentative schedule generally goes out teams prior to the actual schedule being released so I have to believe that when that tentative schedule got released if there is a process for team say Hey we tweak this I got think the brewers maybe would have said can we not have the cubs as as the opening and then the other thing that Doug mentions yeah it's a lot of times when teams of those off days on the second day of the season it's in the markets where you might have a bad weather so if you have opening day rain doubt snowed out whatever out you have that you've got that next day were you could still do all your opening day festivities why they would do that with with with that Miller park with the roof I don't know and then the last thing I I've mentioned this before but since I'm on a roll let's go with it here I hate I hate I hate I hate I hate the fact that there's going to be Fridays that are off nothing like a personal standpoint having Fridays off Hey I can take my wife to dinner on a Friday night in the middle of baseball season that's nice but not about me about. baseball the game of baseball what you should and should not be doing in no world should you ever not be plain on Friday nights baseball has an attendance problem baseball had a huge attendance dropped last year and it went down even further this year and you're going to give some teams Fridays off or they're going to play the next Tuesday give me a break now the reason there's some Fridays off is because going into this past season they open up the season a little bit earlier to create more off days in the crew in the course of the season but forget create more off days you could be smart enough to create an off day on a Tuesday on a Wednesday on a Monday on a Thursday Friday off days are stupid and they're bad for baseball I there's a there's a thirty for thirty I believe about the the folks who used to do the scheduling for for baseball I believe it was a couple who their job was to create the Major League Baseball schedule I think the last few years Major League Baseball moved away from them and since they moved away from them they have not been as good four one four seven nine nine one six twenty four one four seven nine nine one six one Yankee that mortgage talking tax line you can also tweet at "T. P. A. U. L. E. Y. on there is the Twitter handle I'm I'm a little confused here Jerry Augustine's could join us we're set to have all of you with us at one OO five and I'll tell you right now my first question is going to be doggie this for whatever reason the brewers are in a period of time right now where they're having very little success against starting pitchers it takes getting to the bullpen for them to start scoring runs and I don't know what leads to that aids I don't I I don't think it's a situation where a starter is scouting a team you know because of the the they have a meeting and everything before every game and going over the headers I don't feel like it's more on the other side maybe it's more on the brewers site I don't I don't know I don't know I am I don't answer at this point but it seems a very odd to me that the brewers are having such a hard time again starting pitchers and there's been a bunch of offering this goes back to the Arizona series where when they took three out of four they did most of the work against the bull pen kind of in the Cincinnati series but they they lost two of three in that series that you know that that one doesn't I can't pull that one out of the equation certainly so against the cubs in the two games they won against Chicago they did work against the bull pen and then tonight they get nothing done against Bassett and once Oakland goes to the bullpen they're able to get some runs late against the ETS bull pen but it was not quite enough for them to I get the win today so it so it's not all say this is well it's not that I don't think Josh hater cinnamon pitching in that situation because I do I I like the fact that he was used in a in a non safe situation but you do see it is not a rare thing for closers to give up runs in non save situations it's just a different sort of feeling and hater he's been a really good this year but if he's had an issue the issue has been giving up home runs and and great councils talked about if you're gonna score against tater you're generally gonna do it via the home run it's pretty tough to string together a bunch of hits against tater so he gives up the home run today and the the brewers I end up losing good start for major in Hauser okay day from the brewers bull pen and of course something else we're gonna talk about over the course now the next hour and ten minutes the trade deadline it is coming up at three o'clock central later on today we are into Wednesday July thirty first happy final day of the month of July to you a and they they make the one move already getting Jordan Lyles the reports out of the brewers club house is that he is going to start tomorrow's are technically later on today's game two of the series the Wednesday night game it is going to be Jordan Lyle's getting the start in that contest so that were still kind of watching things lined up we'll see when geo Gonzales pitches again I don't think we'll see geo again until the weekend against Chicago I think he probably could pitch in the so called series and maybe that changes maybe say happens tomorrow and they have to push on my stardom on Thursday but just what she'll be in a left hander and the cubs struggles against left handed starters I would expect to see Gonzalo's to get the start against the cubs a for the match up reason and be just to give him a couple extra days that makes some sense if you get him in there we went to a place where you really want to win some games coming up this weekend against the against the cubs four one four seven nine nine one six twenty four one four seven nine nine one six twenty that is the the accurate mortgage talk and tax line you can also tweet at me if you'd like at Matt Bali on air in AT T. "This and this. Time for July highlights. Here's Matt Bali. Brewers fall to the pirates three too, but they would strike first in the bottom of the first inning. Yes. Monte GRANDE all lead the inning off with a walk next to batters would be retired, but then Lorenzo Cain would double that would put runners on its second. And third brings up Eric themes. But before he really gets chance to do anything, they get a gift from pitcher, Chris Archer. The. A while. Char, Chris Archer? And they're still not done next hitter after that, or excess technically the hitter who's at the plate at the moment. It is there things. Archer ready? Peres lame. Sunjwan. In the. In the second day standing. It is. The by which would get one of those runs back in the third, you'll leave seen throws a couple scoreless innings, but then he faces Kevin Newman with one out in the third three on the left side of the infield for Newman the pitch from just seen writ to left backing up gamble on the warning track. It it's gone. Kevin Newman is fifth home run of the season, just like that. It's one brewers. Leave. Brian Reynolds.

Ground ball hit towards signs off. trickles into shallow that is gonna come in and score santana's gonna end up at second base and we'll see how they ruled that that's a play that could have made eight three the final the brewers fall to the mariners map polly creek sean back with you it is a brewers extra innings here's a microcosm of the game christian yelich goes over five with two strikeouts since he has been a brewer so we're coming up on the halfway point of this season's just about a year and a half worth of brewers baseball for christian yelich that is the third time they've gone over with at least five at bats what is going on get rid of through own on them to san antonio this guy doesn't have thought of the major league roster on on itself minute i mean he is spoiled us to no end that he could actually look human tonight and not come up with a base it it's man what a guy you know it's it's you know he's going to bounce back tomorrow his numbers are really pretty good when when he's hitless the next day so and there have been very rare occasions when that's happened that's for sure as you mentioned there's been a lot of people ask me about this we talked about a little bit during the game and i i very quickly with through the numbers on this if i'm off by a game or two please forgive me but this will you'll get the story that i'm telling here the way i saw it the brewers began the season four no on days after off days and including tonight's loss there now one in six since that four no starts in games after off days that's that's odd that they've only won one of their last seven i don't know what to make of it but it's it's a statistical anomaly to say the least yeah i mean i don't know you throw the word complacent not motivated i don't know i mean i don't like those like i don't feel i don't like those but you know it's it's a very strange you know really for what's happening you're talking one in six that's that just seems that that's not right i mean it's it's but you know if they can bounce back you know too soon as tomorrow night you know i think tomorrow night it's going to be a very fresh attitude ballgame with adrian hauser getting a start and not just getting a start but you know they they want him to to take over now they need somebody to step up and and obviously they're turned into a guy who's ready to do it who deserves the opportunity but they've they really need somebody besides brandon woodruff to to give them a tremendous boost here and carry this team to somewhere before you got here i dropped this number it came from adam mckelvey on twitter brewer starters in the last thirty games of a six point five five thirty game six point five five and two biggest samples right there i don't think it's coincidence that that's about how long gio gonzalez has been out yeah i mean they you know rot rock up told told us the same thing on on our t._v. post game show i mean you need to stabilize and then you you need a veteran to be in there to be able to do that so obviously we all are looking forward and hoping that's only days away not weeks away i always making progress but you know you're you're right they need they need a veteran stabiliser and there and they've they've missed this guy who didn't even start the year with them he had an immediate impact and and they're you know somehow somewhere somebody's gotta step up beyond him to we're gonna get the post game comments manager craig counsel.

"Fly ball this. And this. Time for July highlights. Here's Matt Bali. Brewers come away with the win in Pittsburgh, eleven five on the mound tonight. Chase Anderson for the crew. Joe must grow getting the start for the pirates. The brewers would strike first. Top of the first inning been game will lead the ending off with a double after the first two outs are recorded gamble is at third for Mike Mustafa's to one pitch. Fly ball deep right center field going back, a long co looking up, and it is gone homerun might move stock as the breweries take eight to nothing lead here in the first. Sidebar. We got a question from Stephanie in Madison on that home run on whether or not we stock is hit it into the Allegheny. I I went back and I watched the video of it three or four times. And I see why it kind of looks like maybe he did. I don't think it landed in the water though. I think we would have gone more information that it did. So I get why that question was asked I don't think it did. I can't say for one hundred percent. Sure. I don't think it did. But I think it got close brewers lead to nothing after one inning. They would add to that lead in the second Orlando arsia lead off with a base hit Jason Anderson tries to get a bunt down. Can't do it and then been gambled flies out, but no worry next. Hitters Christian yelich soft line drive short. First time up for yellow ch- Moscow. Grove kicks and throws yellow line drive base. Hit right-center field. RC is going to be on the move. Is that wall's going to go all the way to the wall? Aren't she is going to have a chance to score? Yellow cheese on his way to third the relay throws not in time. It's an RBI triple for Christian yelich three. Nothing is we go to the bottom of the second pirates would get on the board. Josh bell leads off with a double Brian Reynolds in Basit, so runners on the corners, Colin Moran strikes out for the I doubt. But then Elliot's Diaz is at the plate to strikes, nothing on Diaz Grondahl sets up away the pitch ground ball towards the middle.

"Throwers extra innings with Matt Bali? What LaCroix double plays out there? The pitch. Swung on hit to right yelich moving over towards the alley. Any makes the catch. He's into a dive poll says off of second. Here's the throat a second base. What a play by yellow ch-? I take the hit away from Luke ROY and into get up and fire. One hop strike to double A bulls at second. Five to the brewers fall to the angels. Welcome back into brewers extra innings on WTMJ. A lot of really good defensive plays being made in this game. It's kind of funny that you look at this game early on. And you look at the fact that you've got a couple MVP's Christian yelich and Mike trout, and you wonder what these guys are do they each made some solid defense a place. There were other really important defensive plays that were made in this game as well. Including a when the brewers put up one run in the second. It could have easily been a lot more runs in the inning. They end up leaving to on. And the inning ends when Lorenzo Cain grounded out to drought and Simmons and his manager Craig counsel spoke to the media just a little while ago in Anaheim, he really singled out that play as being one of the biggest players at the game. You know, I thought Simmons play against Cain. Was you know, the play of the game? I think. You know, I think most shortstop leave their feet for that ball is the big thing. And then if they leave your feet canes going to beat it out, and then we got yellow shut their first and third. So that was the play for sure to get out on that ball is..
