In busting fake. right student of James Randi. if you WANNA know all about how all of this sort of stuff is fake to. Go Watch this movie and honest liar. And he will tell you how this stuff is staked and I've watched it. I've seen it. I've watched do it on shows That's why I don't watch paranormal shows anymore. Payment because once I knew the secret. Of the secret. Ben. There's no spooky effort. And it really kills me to see how many people. Go on TV better complete utter frauds. And even worse people who claimed to be Psychic That are clear frauds I mean James Randi. He busted Yuri Geller. He busted fill the brown he busted. David what's his name that did the readings and our crowd? I can't think of his name. No. Two bus. To bus like it's. and. Once. You learn that and he had that under your belt, which is what I had to teach. Kevin. been it becomes very obvious. We had a fellow come down there. That was a part of a ghost hunting group out of Norfolk I'm not mentioning any names. He had already sold a false story about the house. Gloucester. Do Some teeny show. And I knew that that was a lie because I knew the house he was talking about but when he came down to old house woods. He claimed he saw a skeleton with glowing green around him carrying a green lantern walking up from the beach coming right and past the porta-pottys right down the pass. And walked right up to him and was asking him if this was the king's highway. You know you can get. Right. So I'm Dan and. Kevin's Giggling 'cause we have to pay bad cop. Good Cop. The Kevin Beginning over there are non sitting here being Mr Serious you know. And what was really sad if he brought this whole group of people with him. That apparently. You know. Believe this story. And then they come down there and I just busted him wide open. And they're threatening they're looking like Oh my God. I'm like look you know. This is serious. We're not down here having a spook run we're really. Working on scientific material, collecting data and these sorts of things. All right. We're not looking for somebody's. Psychological trip. And we have to be very clear about that because a lot of people have stories. About old house woods. That are not real I mean there's a ton of them out there that are. I mean, they're just so preposterous it's hilarious and then when I started researching that I come to find out that the majority of those stories came from Mac. Force House. Magna reason Matt Tell All these stories about panthers and pirates behind trees, picking their teeth with the bones and. These sorts of things was because Matt. Hunted illegally..

"Eight for a 1000 Lee Mathews County, okay dot com. Talked about William bars testimony earlier today. He didn't exactly spank members of the House Judiciary Committee. But he did, I think, give very reasonable and sound. Responses to their questions. They didn't ask him. Ah thing about Russia Gate. They didn't ask him a thing about collusion, and when they did try to ask him questions. They interrupted him because they knew everything he said was going to go into record and they didn't want His answers. So all those months and months and months and months of we need William Barr Weenie, William Bar We need William Bar. And then now that this is all the sham that we know what it is. Wait. We don't need more. After all that That seemed to be the attitude. So talked a little about that. Had a listener talk about how he doesn't even trust. He trusts a sibling, telling him the electric fence is off Mohr than he trusts the media and boy did that hit home with me. My sister used to do that to me all the offensive non. He So that had a lot of people calling in about their electric fence experience. Laurie is one of them. We've got a hot fence for the hay burners. She means the horses by the way. I have a metal rod. Almost the entire length of my back. Bottom line. I was petting the horse touched the wire. It zapped me and the horse. The horse still keeps its distance to this day. Yeah, it's funny how they do that. It's like they have the memories of an elephant. A for 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com If you want to join in the conversation also talked about the new speed limits that are going to be on the turnpikes and rural highways 80 miles an hour. It was signed by the governor and then approved by the Turnpike Authority earlier today, and that's fine. I mean, most people drive 80 miles an hour on the turnpike's anyway, right? Except usually, I'm the old papel. And everybody's backing up behind me because I'm not doing 90 But don't strive down the interstate at 80 miles an hour tomorrow because this is going to go into effect as they can put up the new signs. "I don't much care for it. But you know, what it could be worse. I suppose. And I'm getting choice. So welcome aboard. Thanks for being part of the program the for and we got a whole bunch of things and I'm trying to get through. But one of them is just jumping out for for discussion and thought and looking at I guess, the current state of of things with regard to the Virginia governor and his his behavior thirty six years ago and his behavior now thirty four years ago, I guess and his behavior now. And the guy is I think an enigma because there are so many inconsistencies about him. So I I wanna get into his background just a little bit and his his life. What he has done what he has done personally, academically, professionally and politically, and then I have a poll question for you. At the conclusion of that he was born and raised in rural Virginia. And grew up on a farm where the tended the the farmer this with his brother and family. He graduated from high school with the as the salutatorian and was voted most likely to succeed. He was a member of his school's basketball and baseball teams. He graduated from the Virginia Military institute in nineteen Eighty-one where he served as president of the honor court and received a bachelor's degree in biology, then went onto eastern Virginia medical school earning. His medical doctorate in nineteen Eighty-four from eighty four to eighty two he served in the United States army as a medical officer during his army service. He completed a pediatric residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, followed by a child neurology fellowship at Walter Reed. Medical center in Washington DC and Johns Hopkins hospital during operation Desert Storm he treated evacuated and evacuated casualties at the regional medical center in Germany. He left the United States army in nineteen Ninety-two at the rank of major having completed eight years of service since one thousand nine hundred ninety two he he has been a pediatric neurologist at children's hospital of the king's daughters and Norfolk Virginia. Let's talk about the guys at accomplished guy. And I think that academic pedigree and the status of being being the salutatorian and voted most likely to succeed. Frankly, don't comport with the behavior we've seen out of him recently or perhaps while he was in medical school. So prior to entering politics. Northam disclosed that he voted for George W Bush in the two thousand and two thousand four presidential elections. That was a fact that opponents raised and later democratic primaries north says he was a was a political at the time and regretted those votes saying, and I quote, politically there was no question. I was under informed. He I ran for the Senate the state Senate in two thousand seven the Virginia's sixth Senate district, which includes eastern shore Virginia Mathews county on the middle peninsula and parts of the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He was unopposed for the democratic nomination. And on November six two thousand seven he defeated Nick Aurora's two-term Republican incumbent seventeen thousand three hundred seven votes to fourteen thousand four hundred ninety nine votes. He was then re elected in November of two thousand eleven defeating bend, Loyola junior defence contractor little wider margin sixteen thousand. Plus two twelve thousand plus votes. One of north homes. I major activities as a state legislator was to lead an effort to pass a ban on smoking in restaurants in Virginia. The the Bill initially failed. The first time I go round, but it passed the next year, and it was signed into law by governor Tim Kaine and two thousand nine them a self-described conservative on fiscal issues and liberal on social issues was the subject of an attempt by state Republicans to get him to switch parties. This course of action if successful would have given Republicans control of the Senate, but after news of the imminent, switch broke on Twitter. Democrats held a closed-door meeting and Northam reiterated that he was not leaving the party. He later said, I guess it's nice to be one of it. I'm a democrat. And that's where I'm staying. He then ran for Lieutenant governor in the two thousand thirteen elect and he competed against the US chief technology officer Chopra for the democratic nomination on June eleven two thousand thirteen he won the Democratic Party nomination over Chopra with fifty four percent of the. Vote to Topaz Forty-six percent advanced the has the time he was elected as Virginia's fortieth Lieutenant governor over Republican e w Jackson by a ten percent margin. Receiving fifty five percent of the vote to Jackson's forty five. North was the first democrat says Tim Caine in two thousand one to be elected Lieutenant governor of Georgia. I'm sorry Virginia, the two thousand seventeen gubernatorial election. This is kind of interesting in February of two thousand fifteen just over a year into his term as Lieutenant governor. He confirmed his interest in running for governor Virginia in two thousand seventeen and made those intentions official knows an on November seventeen two thousand fifteen the an Email to supporters he faced former congressman and the Democratic Party for a runoff and ultimately. Prevailed? He was often described as a proxy battle between the Bernie Sanders. Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party represented by a person by the name of pareo and the Hillary Clinton wing represented by northern. Himself on June thirteenth two thousand seventeen. He was he won the democratic nomination with fifty six percent of the vote, and he faced Republican nominee, Ed Gillespie, and the general election that data election got rather heated and during the campaign, Mr. Gillespie as well as President Trump accused him of being responsible for the increase activities, the MS thirteen gangs and of being in favour of sanctuary cities that lead dangerous illegal immigrants back on the streets. There is a little bit of problem and Mr. Gillespie's climb because there are no sanctuary cities. There were not then in Virginia there. None still today Gillespie and the president said that the north amid been the deciding vote to stop a Republican Bill in the state Senate, which would have banned sanctuary cities, and that this contributed to a surgeon MS thirteen violence, a notion that was not really truly supported by the facts. However, he did not want to take a proactive course of action. To address to prohibit a sanctuary cities. However, he did say that he would he would fight against it. If it were to happen, or there was a specific effort for any city to go in that direction. Just a month or so after that the Latino victory fund which was supporting his campaign released an ad in which a pickup truck adorned with Gillespie bumper sticker a quote don't tread on the end, quote license plate and confederate flag chases down minority. Children and corners them in an alley. One of the children and the ad then wakes up revealing the scene to have been a nightmare. Although north and his campaign were not involved with the ad. He initially defended it he defended that ad. I don't know if you've seen it. But I remember seeing it, and it was absolutely reprehensible is terrible. He defended it saying these ads have promoted fearmongering, hatred, bigotry and racial divisiveness. And adding I mean, it's an upset a lot of communities and they have a right to express their views as well. Ultimately that ad was pulled the following day hours after the terrorist attack in New York City in which a man killed several people by running them down with a pickup truck. So that was not his ad, but he did defend it. And it's ironic that there was an exploitation of I think frankly, unsubstantiated non existent racism on the part of Ed Gillespie. That that actually put north position where he was able to accomplish victory to be elected governor of the state of Virginia. So. Of course, we all know about the yearbook photo that has come out now and some of the behavior associated with that. Specifically is he I acknowledged that. He was either the person in that he was in fact, affirmatively either the person who appeared in black face in that photograph or the person and the KKK hood and sheet, so he acknowledged having done that and it's on his yearbook page. And then over the weekend. He recanted and said that wasn't him. Well, if he thought it was him that pretty much tells you that he did it or believe he did it back in the nineteen Eighty-four timeframe. And I think a lot of sins and indiscretions and bad judgment bad behavior of that timeframe thirty plus years ago. Can be forgiven. If there's an explanation, and there's context that shows that there was no righteous hatred or or racist ideology and play foolish foolish foolish thing to do. And no wise person would engage, but I think there's an opportunity to be forgiven. If a person explains what took place in shows legitimate remorse for having done. So but to get caught up in the lie, and it's got to be alive. This juncture there. There's no doubt. He he said it was him. Anyway, it was it was either either one of those characters either or. But now he denies that. How can that be? And then of course, he has in recent weeks talked about the plan with regard to extending abortion rights access to abortion to the full term of a pregnancy and beyond because he very calmly talks about a procedure in which a child is born. So it's no longer an infant. I no longer a fetus this child is born outside the mother's womb. Alive. And you consult with parents make the make the newborn comfortable, and then take what course of action they decide they wanna take. I think that's a that's a tough one. And that is not getting the attention that I would expect it to get frankly. However, this other behavior. Does get the attention. So how do you comport the the apparent divergence and this guy's life? He seems to show. Rather astute intellect at some time in a field that many many many people would would recognize him believed to be challenging even for a gifted person. And then he actually went on beyond that and finished a a specialty license certificate in a in a more complex field of medicine, and he had a great military run. And he was perceived by his high school classmates to be the most likely to succeed. Is that the guy you've seen lately? So the by poll question today is do you think he should resign? Simple question there. Also when.

"Chairman. Thank you. We go to Norma Torres of California. Thank you. Mr. Chairman. I do have a couple of questions that I that. I hope both of you. Well comment on and I'm sorry to to be jumping continents. Mr billingsley. I'm very concerned about the current situation in water Malla, as you may already know the president of water Malla, president Morales has been working with a group of corrupt politicians to undermine the fight against corruption there, specifically the work of c sag I worry that if we don't do more to deter this backsliding of the rule of law. Water Malla could break down into chaos, and we could see the real crisis or even bigger crisis at our southern border. So my question is what is the role of Sam? Sanctions in our policy towards water Malla in what kind of sanctions would be most effective in making clear that the US will not stand idly while watermelon president and his cronies allows years the progress to be turned back utilizing our own equipment. That was gifted to them. So congresswoman you've put your finger on a really crucial issue. Ultimately, the department of state in responsible for CCA again and the reformation process there, but we're watching the situation very closely. The tools we have would include among other things if we if we identify Nanteuil institution that's being used a launder funds. And it's touching the US system than the various provisions of the Patriot Act available to us to go after. We do expect and demand that Guatemala implementing money laundering regimes reforms, and then in the event that we see in the document and working with the prosecutor can document corruption actions, the global Magnitsky act in particular is is the tool that we use. To to impose consequences on people for those kinds of actions. I certainly hope that your office is closely watching the actions. Very alarm at what is going on right now with the army mobilizing within the capital. I think. Thank you congresswoman, we are very concerned about what is going on in Guatemala, and we are looking at C sake. The US supports a reform see sake, we wanna see more transparency oversight and accountability. It's an institution. It's a it's an entity that should transfer more of its capacity back to the institutions, but we do share your concerns, and we are monitoring the situation closely. And that sure what you mean by transparency, although I do agree that more of their work after ten years should should have been already transfer to the watermelon institutions. However, I do want to point to you. And I'm sure you already know I don't have to educate you on. This is that they the watermelon. Congress has not been able to pass laws to address their own issues of corruption and transparency so how. How do we unlike ground? Do we stand to say transfer the power of authority to an institution that has shown that they are willing to be on the record to find themselves or to refuse to allow themselves to be put before a court to investigate their own crimes. When you raise a very good point. And that's exactly what we're looking at. We do wanna find ways to increase the oversight and accountability for the entire situation at please don't miss that. Mark. I think. A lot of times. We've done a great job. But sometimes we have it's like head in the sand. And when we don't send a very very clear message, then we end up with people coming to their own understanding on things that we do not want to empower the drug cartels, and we don't want to empower what is happening there now. So I want to just be very clear with both of you that if we don't do anything. Now, if we continue to stand idle and allow them to to to move forward with their effort of intimidating reporters of intimidating human rights, people there activists. Then we are responsible for what ends up happening there, and we will continue to be responsible for the number of children that are being held in ice cages in our southern border. And that is what we need that is the bigger picture that we can't lose sight of. And this chairman I've ran out of time. So thank you congresswoman tourists. Thank you. And again, we think our panel and the committee stands journ, we'll see everyone at twelve thirty four our markup. Alive. House foreign affairs committee hearing on oversight of US sanctions policy was meniscus. Sing the assistant secretary of state for economic and business affairs and Marshall Billingsley the assistant Treasury Secretary for terrorist financing and financial crimes as you heard the house foreign affairs committee will reconvene in about ten minutes a little less for a meeting on documents request for the US Russia meeting between President Trump and Russian President Putin. Again, leads back that to begin at about twelve thirty until then will listen to some of this morning's Washington journal as we spoke about some preparations in a couple of states for hurricane Florence. Representative rob Wittman he serves on the armed services and natural resources committee, the Republican of Virginia. Good morning. Good morning. Pedro could you talk about the areas of the Commonwealth, particularly were you serve and how they might be affected by Florence. Absolutely. Where the governor has done an evacuation. What's called Zona? Those are the very low lying areas. So places like Mathews county and precaution. There's a mandatory evacuation those are areas most likely to be affected by storm surge and even by heavy amounts of rain. So that has been put in place by the governor, local emergency services coordinators are monitoring those areas to make sure that citizens know what they can and cannot expect. If wins over forty miles an hour. There will not be first responders available to go to those areas. So all those all those issues are taking care of with those those local governments the second area is with our military. So they're naval station. Norfolk ships have been. Sentece? So the two aircraft carrier the George H W Bush, and the ABRAHAM LINCOLN had been sent Lucy as long as well as fourteen other surface ships, and those are the dishes. There are fifteen ships that are there at the shipyards that are being maintained. So those are being secured. Rear Admiral rock, who's the navy commander for the mid Atlantic has also set conditions for several ships that are there that can't go to see those that are under maintenance. So those are cruisers and destroyers, and there aren't a what's called heavy mooring, which means they're disconnected from the pier they're anchored. They're disconnected from shore power because there's a likelihood that the water will come over the peers, their sailors are on board and those ships are running under their own power. The coast guard is also designated for four ports not in our area. But in North Carolina and maybe later for Virginia. What's called conditions Zulu, which means ships cannot leave or come into these into these harbor, so those those main ports have been closed there in the Carolinas. So we see as the storm approaches more and more things being done to to safeguard the ships that are there and shipping traffic that goes back and forth. So those efforts have been put into place, and and also other. Military bases around is you know, aircraft have been moved out. So whether it's cherry point, whether it's camping journey that was places. Those aircraft have been moved out also their Camp Lejeune Marine Corps. Families have been told that they can stay on base. But they've also opened up shelters there.
