"I mean, that's not something you can just Change in a day or even a week. And so if these flash floods come, that's not going to be a problem. You can deal with straight away, is it Yeah, um, in those cities that have poured their energies, Definitely the the the intensity of, uh I mean of the responders, responders putting themselves battle ready, 24 7. Making sure that uh, whatever happens they they swing into action is there? Uh there are a lot of measures that have been put in place, especially, um, back, making some divisions of water. Where it is necessary that well, we know that if there is, uh, a blockage that has a lot of, uh, structures that cannot be removed in a day. So the best thing is to divide the water, uh, to another side of the city so that it will not really affect the republic. That has been going on in most of these cities. But, you know, in the case of Abuja, it is very clear that we have adequate to energies and M with these. Okay, that might be the case in Abuja itself. But on the outskirts where lots of poorer people live. That's perhaps less true, isn't it? I mean, I wonder what beyond the responsibility of the state? What are you telling ordinary Nigerians that they can do? To protect themselves in these circumstances. Well, we've been telling them that those who are were already mapped out those areas that flood prone and we've been telling the people living around that area. With a catchy, higher ground before any other thing could happen. And, uh, to some extent that is that the parents to that because we have seen a lot of devastation in the past, so people are responding to that alley warning. So that is the only solution for people to move. But we give much arrest. I mean, um Prominence to really preparedness strategies and also making sure that our respondents are really but we're ready with all the necessary equipment to ensure that they carry out rescue in case there is any need for such In any of these cities. Okay. Mr Abbas, Interest director general of the Emergency Management Agency for the Federal Capital Territory Abuja of Nigeria. And then let's give you a few headlines top headlines this morning from our newsroom. The British government has all the wise it's border force to turn back migrant boat crossing the channel from France. And the head of Brazil's Supreme Court has accused President gem both an arrow of attacking democracy by threatening to ignore its rulings and a fired A temporary coronavirus hospital in Macedonia has killed at least 10 people. Let's say here now, what's a top in the world of sport? His Isaac Funny? Yeah, we're going to be taking a look at tennis and last hour know about Djokovic beat Matea Bertini in four sets at the US Open. I caught up with the BBC's tennis correspondent Russell Fuller. And I asked him to describe Djokovic's performance simply sensational. And yes, he was a little shaky in the first set. It was a very physical affair. Matteo Beretta Teeny, this tall, big serving Italian with an enormous forehand, who took the first set of Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, played some fabulous tennis. Very physical 77 minute first set, which bear a teeny one by seven games to five. He took the first set of the Wimbledon final and lost in four and history repeated itself today. There were times when martinis level dropped. He looked the more tired of the two players. But Djokovic, his returning his defense simply Extraordinary to watch. It was another brilliant performance by Novak Djokovic, who is now two games away from completing the calendar Grand Slam for 2021, something no man has done since Rod Laver in 1969. Does anyone stand a chance of stopping Djokovic? He's been playing very, very well. There have been a few ups and downs over the tournament, but you would expect that, given the fact he didn't play after the disappointment. Of losing in the semifinals of the Olympic singles, so he's been playing his way into form. My concern would be that the pressure of trying to win this calendar slam is immense, and he spent a lot of time on court, not nearly as long as his next two opponents potentially heal definitely play Alex very F. In the semifinal, Zverev was the man who beat him in the Olympic semifinal. He was last year's runner up. He has played very, very well so far and then potentially in the final. If you can get past Felix Aujali, a seam of Canada is the world number two. Daniel Medvedev, who again has been in sparkling form and winning his matches very, very quickly. Indeed, Russell just want to look at earlier on in the day, the U. S Open. There was an absolutely astonishing performance from a teenager. Emma Ready Colony. There's not much you can say about how brilliant she was against. But in the bench it she just does everything very, very well. You don't look at her and think. Oh, she's got the most enormous serve all the most extraordinary backhand. She does everything so so well, and she's playing into the second grand slam of her career fourth round at Wimbledon and now as a qualifier. Into the semi finals of the U. S Open. No one man or woman has ever done that before. In the history of these championships, she was too good for the Olympic champion Belinda benches today dropped her serve early on. But as we saw in the fourth round match against Shelby Rogers came powering back to win 6364 and shall not play Maria Security of Greece, the 17th seed. In the semifinals. Zachary beating Karolina Pliskova a runner up here a few years ago in straight sets with a brilliant serving performance. She won 22 points in a row at one stage. Why is it that we're seeing so many teenagers come out at this U s open? You know we've got Layla Fernandez in the men's side of the draw. Although he lost in the quarterfinals, Carlos Alcaraz, he was fantastic. First tournament. Is there something that's happening is something in the water with these teenagers. Where are they all coming from? Think Carlos Alcaraz's performance in reaching the quarter finals and winning 25 set matches in a row was remarkable, given that men play best of five sets, and it is very unusual for 18 year olds to get to the quarter finals of a Grand slam in the women's game. It's been very, very Common Indeed, Monica Seles won a handful of Grand Slam titles as a teenager Chris Evert. I was checking her record. Earlier, she was in the semifinals of the U. S Open at the age of 16. In recent years. We've had teenagers making progress, but they perhaps been a little bit older than hemorrhagic are new. We've had Jelena Ostapenko, for example, the French Open Naomi Osaka. Very, very young. Maybe just 20. So there is tradition of women doing very well at an early age and I think they feel as if No pressure on their shoulders. They've got nothing to lose. They aren't burdened down by other people's expectations. They are not bitter about life on tour there fresh. They've got no worries. They've got no stresses again. They've got absolutely nothing to lose. Tennis is in a fantastic shape. A lot of people said to me before this U s open. Oh, it's not going to be any good at all, because there's no Serena Williams Venus Williams now Roger Federer. Rafa Nadal, not even Dominic team, the men's defending champion. And, of course it's a huge blow to lose players like that. But as ever, the show goes on, and it's been wonderful to see the next generation and all the talent that is out there. Playing one of the most spectacular US Open championships I can remember with the most amazing matches high drama upset. Youth prevailing. It's just.

Daniel Medvedev Layla Fernandez Matea Bertini Carlos Alcaraz Rafa Nadal Chris Evert Monica Seles Russell Fuller Novak Djokovic Felix Aujali Roger Federer Karolina Pliskova Abbas Jelena Ostapenko Naomi Osaka 22 points Djokovic Russell Belinda Zverev

"The economic community of West African States or eco, suspended the country, stating the military takeover by Colonel Mamadou contravened the charter of democracy and good governance. The 83 year old president, Alpha Conde is in detention and his whereabouts unknown and one of the demands of the regional bloc that sending a delegation to Guinea later today is for Mr Conde to be released on conditionally. So what effect? If any, can the suspension half Ambassador Peter Farm is a former U. S special envoy for this hell, he's also former special envoy for the Great Lakes region and now with the Atlantic Council's Africa Center. Whatever the justification, uh, for the removal of the president, Extra constitutional changes of regime are never good. They increase instability. And certainly don't do the economy of the country any good, but that being said You know what also has to acknowledge that Guinea's crisis didn't begin last year with the controversial third term president Conde, although that certainly brought things to a head, But really one can trace the those of us who followed getting traced the crisis back to Political manipulation of ethnic tensions and marginalization of opponents going back as early as the lead up to the 2015 election, which Again. ECOWAS was silent about as well. So what one can see the the Certainly see the argument, even in one just doesn't justify or condone what happened. Yes, I think it's also many are wondering what exactly Echo us can do in this in this situation because they've talked about the unconditional release of President Conde and saying that the country should return to constitutional rule, but It can't be expected to these army boys are going to hand back over to the 83 year old president, certainly not willingly, and especially not with the support of the nation who were cheering them. No. And quite quite frankly, it one looks at what has happened in the region just in the last 12 months, beginning with the August 2020 coup in Mali. The fact is, the ECOWAS didn't seek a restoration of the elected president in Mali accepted the takeover of the government. So having if you will lower the bar the way they did, they've lost a lot of leverage, and to be quite Frank. In Guinea, The leverage that existed even to achieve as much as in Mali doesn't exist. Molly is a landlocked country and ECOWAS imposed for a brief time. A blockade and embargo, which brought things to a negotiating table. Guinea is a coastal countries so a blockade one isn't as effective and two given the fact that one of its borders is with Molly, which itself is suspended from Echo Wasps. It's not likely to be honored. Secondly, unlike Molly, which is part of a monetary union, Guinea has its own currency. So again, another point of pressure that doesn't exist here. And what can we expect now from the coup leaders and you've talked about Molly, and that's very interesting to look at as a as a time example of where The military has taken over has promised certain things promised. For instance, bm father M. Five RFP, who'd be mobilizing rallying thousands to protest against undemocratic principles. They then promised to hand over to them and to hand over to civilians. And yet we still see the military in control. How can that be prevented here in Guinea and you know, ensuring that The military boys do actually hand over in good time. I think it would require political will and engagement. Those are to keep things and I think one is the political will, which To be quite frank. I question whether that it exists in the region to actually Carry through with that Guinea's president and former president was not the only person to give himself a third term in the region. The ones who respect to term limits more the exception than the rule, if one quite honest about it. And so one is the question of political will. Secondly, it's not up just to have the will to do that organizing elections, organizing transitions dealing with some of the underlying causes, which led to the context in which a cou could happen. That takes time to effort takes a lot of patients and, you know, unfortunately, with so many crises, so many other challenges, oftentimes that's found wanting and that's That's unfortunate that leads the situations where promises of elections slip promises of handover slide, and so one hopes for the best, But one has to be realistic. One of the things I find very positive and in Guinea or at least a possible cycle is the fact that a number of Civilian opposition leaders. The leading opponent to President Conde Selo. Jajalo has welcomed the coup was an opportunity and Express willingness to work with the transition, and one hopes that the transition find space for these talented and experienced individuals who are willing to work for. A future. And that Ambassador Peter Pham, who is now with the Atlantic Council's Africa Center in the United States, News Day on the BBC World Service Court of the Air, We're going live to Nigeria. Where floods this year and many of the countries 36 states have caused death and devastation to some communities. Even in IDP camps in Jigawa State 39 people have died has been traffic chaos around the country is very often occurs during the rainy season. The meteorological agencies advising Nigerians to be prepared for building collapses and other problems. So how should people protect themselves and their families and livelihoods? Question We can ask now to the director general of the Emergency Management Agency for the federal capital Territory of Abuja, Mr Abbas Injuries joins us now. How big a problem then our flash floods. Yeah. Good morning. Jails. Yeah. The, um The flash for the Israeli, uh, devastated is three and going with the what we are seeing across the globe is really giving us uh, serious concern. However, a lot of, um Things are being done and has still been doing by the stakeholders to ensure that it didn't cause any loss of life and property. Okay, what is being done? Yeah, we We have done a lot of things. We, uh education and enlightening the public and we're also putting the structural me measures to ensure that, uh all the obstacles and infractions that are causing the flood. Being removed, especially those who built on the water with and who are dumping refuse to also block and the brilliance. We are seriously on daily basis. Remove those, uh, obstructions and the basic thing is that we have already prepared all the stakeholders and dusted there. Response plans and the education which is very key. It's going on regularly in different types of dialect to ensure that people and they have strictly To the rules and regulations, especially issues that has to do with the building codes. But when you talk about, for example, drainage, something you mentioned an issue like poor drainage, which is a problem in many cities in Nigeria. I mean, that's not something you can just Change in a day or even a week. And so if these flash floods come, that's not gonna be a problem. You can deal with straight away, is it Yeah, um, in those cities that have poured their energies, Definitely the the the intensity of, uh I mean of the responders, responders putting themselves battle ready, 24 7. "I can't be sure of it. I think he should outranked Thompson, though, shouldn't he? In terms of if we're putting Thompson on the list of We're sure they're on the team. I feel like middle stats. Probably got to be there also. Yeah, that's probably right. All right, So that's that's four. And we even reached maybe a little bit on middle Seven. Thompson like it was close, Uh, crystalline and is an easy no. Colin Miller is a No. I think he I think the best case here for the Sabres. He's the Seattle pick. Um, I think that could happen. Way that their numbers are going to work out. Um Bryson. He played all of last year here once he was called up. I think they like he was okay. He was He was. He was a wild ride. A lot of positive plays on the offensive end a lot of negative plays in his own. I think they like them, so I think it's Pretty. I think it's pretty. I think he's in that middle stat group like young guys they want to invest in and they think will work. Now, This is a member on the Sabres. Rochester wouldn't count for this correct and he could be could be there. Yeah. If you're losing Miller and rest a line and you need dudes. And then we also have bargain on this list. Right? So Oregon and and I think, Borgens more likely than And Bryson. I think you know what I wouldn't put. I would not put Bryson on. This list of guys were sure organ That seems to be the guy they might release to Seattle. Oh, you're right, because like, if they're both on the team, I'm much more sure Borgens on the team. But I don't know the bargain. I I want to think there's no possible way. There's no way in hell that they're going to protect wrist align and over will board. Yeah, but I think there is How there's there's always that guy. He's a cockroach. Where's the line? And he will survive a nuclear Holocaust and come out on the other end is a Buffalo so God bless that mean for his God given talents of being large and also having rocks for brains. It's just NHL games. Love it. Can't get enough of that stuff. He's you know, he's GMs fall in love with him. He means a complete buffoon in his own end, and we'll do the worst make the worst possible decision in his own end, But he's also large, tall and hates people. I needed five of those guys playing defense. For me, that's at any NHL GM so because of that, I don't think we could've organ on it. Like And I think because of bargain could take Bryson's roster spot. I can't but bracing on it. She could get you the best return because James are so dumb. The problem is, is that maybe your GM is dumped to alright, Two more guys. I think you have to put on the list. You're sure of Darlene and yo Chiari. Oh, yes. Both are a face. They need contracts. Dollies contact will be interesting. We've talked at all about that. Um, but that gets me to six. No goaltenders for this. Uh, Girgensons is under contract at 2.2 Million, but he kind of like Miller. He could be an expanded draft guy in Seattle. Seattle might be left with Girgensons verse. Colin Miller. Here, a guy keep getting risk the line in vibes from Girgensons like he's never leaving, never leaving. Jake McCabe is a U F A Mm. No, I can't be sure, but he's your favorite. I can't be sure I would maybe say that's likely that he comes back. But Are two routes, aligning Don't know. No some your some shenanigans where Maybe he wants to go back to Europe or something. The expansion draft man like I think he he does not have to be protected because he doesn't have the amount of games qualify. Okay, Then he's safe from that. I think he's I think, but is he think he's here or is he think he's in Rochester? I think he's always got to be here. It would drive me crazy if he wasn't a Granado being back helps with this because he played that right, Granado to I'm going. I'm going to put roots line unless seven And I'm done. Matea Samuelson know that could easily be Rochester. Piturca is likely to not be Jack Quinn probably won't be and Owen Power wants to go back to Michigan, right so he can't put him on the list, So that's it? Seven. Would you say the number is 23? Right? All right, So you got 16 spots. Seems going to be so different. It's going to be very different. Why love it? Once the expansion draft happens, A lot of those guys settle out. Yeah. Right. We'll come back and wrap things up little late to a break. We should open the bulldog coming up at three o'clock. Jodi Beyonc?.

"Host is a wine growing area surrounded by vineyards. Matea Circa, the head of the City administration here, says people have discovered that Vine branches make an excellent basis for a stork's nest so you can build a framework metal framework on your chimney. Let's talk later on can construct this NIST. Together with the Stock Association ghost We have the stocks construct these nests with putting interesting minds into the construction and just because it's easier to start his nest building them. Well, I'm in a cobblestone square in the heart of lust, and that hammering sound you can hear is the stalks clattering and rattling their beaks. Alexander says it's part of the town soundscape like the church bells. We have to learn to live with the rattling, but we get used to and we love it. It's like like the church we're watching, and we're waiting for the rattling every day. It's kind of our daily routine and Yeah, we like it. It's quite interesting to watch them learn to fly their like little Children. You see them grow up. It's Yeah. When you watch the socks, I learn to fly. I'm watching some young birds fly towards the reeds of Lake noise Eedle practicing for the long flight to South Africa. Just above me on a carved baroque rooftop. An adult stalk stands watching still as a white stone statue. Matias says, the birds have come to symbolize list. I think it's some sort of heroic bird for our town. We are very proud of having the stocks in our own city. Area and it's a very special feelings standing on the street. What stocks are in front of the roost At the moment we're sitting beneath one. Yeah, especially and. And the most interesting thing is, I think in the evening when you drink a glass of find the stock is in front of you above you. Especially. We'd like you to beloved.

"Division. We're in the playoffs this year, and two of them are in the Stanley Cup final. And how daunting a task that nature challenge and justify could Kevin briefly, uh John Vogel asked about the communication and to be honest with you, that wasn't really answered. You said. It's critical to have that communication. Are you communicating with Jack Eichel would simply be my question. Hey, Mike, I'll answer that one as quick as I can. For that you asked me and the challenge ahead. Uh, you have to thrive on challenge. I mean, if you're going to win and be successful at the highest level you you have to love challenge. And I will. I will reiterate this. It's really important for us. There's a lot of petty stuff that happens, uh, in an emotional stuff that happens and you want a response and those things. Organizations, coaches can get stuck. Manage and petty things and anchor down. There's certain things you have to just move past. And focus on and not be bogged down and I'm talking about your question. With US challenge in our division Two teams are in the Stanley Cup finals are in our Division and Tampa in Montreal. If when we are successful when we're going to be successful, we are going to improve our players and our team. We're going to develop to the point where we can win consistently will hit a tipping point if we just stay focused. And getting better. It's inevitable if we get tugged and pulled aside and distracted and things that don't continually make us better. It's going to be a lot harder to find that tip to get to that tipping point, so we will stay the course. The course is improvement getting better, and I've done it. I've seen it with teams. I've been party with championship teams. You know, there's a lot that will fall into place with that mentality and that objective and that will fall in place. I'm confident that and we have we have so much room for growth that is powerful. When you look at what we have And what we have coming what we have in our system already, whether it's in Rochester or elsewhere in the former draft picks, and certainly the players that we saw and young guys that were empowered and took advantage of it last season, so that challenge is really, really exciting to me. I know we can do it. Yeah, And my certainly wasn't avoiding the question. I think my point was that communication with all our players is critical and an extension of whether it's players. Sometimes it's a player. Sometimes it's the agent just that's just part of our day to day. So, um, of course. Yeah. Talked talking to to all of our players. And I think, uh, you know, I don't remember the exact time of day I think yesterday I spent Long time on the phone with with Jax agents. You don't had a great conversation, so I, you know, that's just part of what we do. Yeah. Good morning, gentlemen. Mookie Hawkins World for sports Today he has it gone. I'm okay. I have a two questions one for both. I will start with you, Coach and congratulations. First and foremost. Um, just what are some of the phases that you stand by on making this team a contender? I'm sorry I missed the first You said before making it a contender. What was the word you use? When are what are some of the phases that you stand by or making this team a contender? What we've The things that come to mind we've already initiated again. You know the pride and passion for your teammates for your team, that competitive ness of your group. The clarity week we were able to make adjustments in between periods. We had back to back games against the same opponent, which was great advantage for me as a coach, because I could put things in front of the players and see the speed. Their ability to make an adjustment and it got faster and faster, which is a real indicator of progress and skill overall, so to me that there were lots of signs of real strong. Potential, Um Or strong signs of of the actual potential. That's there. It's just moving them continually move them in the direction In many areas we saw through the better parts of last season, the big One is finding a way to win. You know, I always talk about Don't wait to win and you think about the teams in the Stanley Cup finals? Uh, there's one surprise team in there. I would imagine to a lot of people and for for us, we can't wait to win every single night. You lace up your skates. There's a way to win that hockey game. And there's a way to find that and I think our players I know our players, uh, started to see that and and see the parts of the game that are within their control, and I know when they were able to evaluate the game, which is a big process of development, the ability to evaluate the game. At the level of the players. They they were able to evaluate the game right after and and feel that the game was determined or not determined with things they had in their control, and they either control them or they didn't but they had that they had the ability to do it. That's where you saw our players play with more confidence and conviction. Uh and and that's a so again. That's a those are components that are already in place that we'll keep building on and our players grasp and have a real great. There's a coach. You want to bring clarity to the vision. You want those guys. Those guys have a real good clarity right now. Absolutely appreciate that Coach and GM if I may, uh, actual one as well. Um, what are your thoughts on? You know, the big the big defenseman? You know, man, can he be the Josh Allen of this year's draft? Mhm. Yeah, it's uh, It's a good question in terms of the draft, and we had great meetings a couple weeks ago. Now it's actually it was nice. Many of our staff was in town and actually in person meetings, and few of our European scouts were on Zune. But, uh, spent a lot of time going through all the players, um, top end towards later in the draft, and what's exciting is there's Issue at the top of the draft. There's there's There's a lot of players that, um, we feel good about and we're continuing to kind of work through that have more meetings coming up, But I said this a couple weeks ago, I think when we won the lottery, I love the draft process. It's and it's interesting to me it's it's a lot of fun to really try to project and evaluate where these they're young. They're 18 year olds or most of them and you know where they'll be within their 23 24 because that's a It's not an easy job to do, but it's uh it's exciting and it's going to be here quick. The days are moving fast right now. Mhm. Yes, sir. Bill, we still don't have your soul move and, uh, to be here. What? Good morning, Kevin. Morning, Uh, running down. Congratulations. Once again, Pete Gallivan from Channel to, uh, just one. I mean, I know a lot of the strings. We're going to be. Hold my Kevin, obviously, but done when you look at the possible trades that have been discussed, um, and the potential draft currency, you're looking at the number one overall. To get to that. You know, Ed result. Turn this team around. What pieces? Do you think you're lacking right now in turning this team into a winning team and potential playoff team. Well, thanks, Pete. Uh, there's a lot of pieces I believe strongly in that are entering the organization. You mentioned some of the, uh Anders Bjork is an example. Just enter the organization. Um, you know, we have Jack Quinn, who's who's at some point going to be entering the organization. Upl is really entering the organization, you know? And JJ Piturca just sign. So you know it. You factor in what we have. Maybe if you look at areas that we want to target and improve, and then you factor in, you know Matea Samuelson maturing and coming into the league. There's so many exciting things in pieces that will fill and become more capable at filling areas that you will you would see on a real winning roster. Real successful rosters so And then you mentioned any potential trades we could have, um you know it to me. Anything and everything is exciting because of where we're at. We we have. We have a lot of, uh, potential in the form of talent..

I don't know him as a person, but I like him as a player, and, you know, I'll ask you this riff before we head out of here to break and come back, and hopefully Jack Eichel's ready and I'll ask you we'll talk about it when we come back is who's in that? Year and meeting with Jack Eichel. We'll talk about that if we have a chance before he hits the podium, but Samuelson ready to step in to fill in for Jake McCabe absence next year, because if he leaves, I still feel like you're going to need a left hand shot physical defenseman. Yes. Would have. I would have Samuelson in in my lineup next year. I think he was a great opportunity for For Matias. Get a couple games here to feel comfortable. No that he can play at the pace of the game. And I think there's a tremendous upside with the player. That's you know, 6465 £230 and he's 21 years old. Um, you've got a lot of years. Moving forward with this young man and his size, his ability to skate his calmness his ability to defend Um I think I'd like to see him a little bit more physical with his with his body and his size, But all in all I was I was pleased with what I saw from Matea Sanderson, and he would definitely be in my top six next year. Quick yes or no? And maybe it doesn't have to do with whether you would Or maybe he would, but is Jake McKay back on the sabers next year. Would say no. Um, and that's just my opinion. And I don't I can't even tell you why. I just think that you know Jake McCabe, as um, you know, Been a buffalo saber for for a number of years. Um, I think he I think he had said seven years pro now. Listen, I think it's just time for a change. I think it's time for a change for Jake. I think it's time for change for for, um You know the buffalo sabers? "As many games. Nicolas Bone, and after King that shot the puck from the high slot purpose sallow made the save, but the puck ricocheted over the right circle. There was Nicolas Bone and grab it. He's fired it past corpus sallow into the back of the Columbus Network tied at one this shot might have went off the back side of few suitor. In fact, the Patrick Kane and the kids adore far right now the only folks who have been credited with assist on that goal. By Nicholas Bohdan will see if that changes as we go along here and a closer look at the replays. Meantime, the Blackhawks and jackets tied at one but a little more than five minutes from any a guy who's been tormenting the Hawks in the season. Serious so far did it again. Where's the puck up the boards? Hanson Jones Jones, a sharp angle shopper near the corner. Banking and squeeze the poster knock it wide war in ski fires from the high slot. The scars this, I believe was tipped by Cam Atkinson on the way in. And for Atkinson. It's his second goal in his many games against the Hawks and Columbus now leads again 2 to 1, and after a four point effort on Thursday night, that's two points for Atkinson tonight because he had the helper. Patrick line is first period goal. Gawronski and Jones with the apples on Atkinson's Go ahead goal, and that's where we stand right now. Hawks over two on the power play this 11 for one of the kill. "This will reflect through down to the jacket blue line. He got it. They're clears the center. I stick it back by the Hawks Abuse Suitor to Patrick Kane, Right Point jacket Zone. Put it down to the right wing corner to wreck it. Fires that's knocked up the slut, right? The Patrick Kane. You two break it. Left wing corner to cane Left wing half towards slaps a pass in front of the jackets. Net bills. Otto picks it off. Losing out the center ice. Duncan Keith took it away. Hotline to cane over the jacket line didn't break it. Firing from the top of the left circle. That's into the foot of bills. Otto, He only got the loose puck, put it ahead. And general will foot the puck over the hot line on the left wing for Bjork's trendy and it knocked away by strong to cane cuts in over the jacket line could have drawn a hook right there. No penalty called. Yeah, he was looking around. He thought he was going to get a call on that one could have easily been a penalty against Columbus, Jenner, passing ahead to Domi jackets line to Seth Jones and over the hot line left wing. Jones drops the shoulder and then back hands of pass across the New York Strand. Right point. He fires it in front of the hawk. Yet this deflects off the stick of Domi jackets get Impact Domi right corner. Passes this pin balls out to the left point for gathering cough, who tried to get a shot on goal. It was blocked by you and Mark and then he gave the puck away to the jackets on then, don't me put it down the board stand one and the right wing corner. Shouldered off the puck nicely there by Mitchell. Little tapped the puck to Keith behind the Hawk, man and he'll start up Keith with the headman passed a yan market. The jacket line is over. Sticking down and icing is gonna be called here to the Hawks to one hocks. This line has struggled a little bit. Yeah, and Mark on the left side was Stroman Kubelik. Almost getting some good offensive zone Time and Duncan Keith a little bit fatigue at the tail end of a long shift there. This is a big line change. With Columbus Blue Jackets. They get their top offensive line out there against the tired group of guys. Ross, the vic is going to go head to head with Dylan Strome line Change, Powered by points Bet Sports book. The drug comes in on Lincoln, and he turned it in behind the net to Mitchell. You're cleared around the left wing to center ice, and now you and Mark wax the puck over the Columbus blue line a few feet. They're to center ice by lining to Ross Slavic in front of the penalty box is he lost the puck into the hawk's own? Mitchell's Got it between the circles. Thanks to pass up the right side, Matea, she and Mark The Columbus Blue line. He'll reflect the puck down to the right wing corner. Columbus own David Camp. Battling for possession as his Brandon Hagel but taken back by the jackets and then line a tried to toad drags the puck through the legs of Carlson Escape behind him and get it. He lost the puck. Highmore took it back Columbus line moves down toward the right wing circle and fires. Turned out of there by Corpus sallow. Then a pass originates by Ross living from the far corner of the jacket zone up the right wing intended for Atkinson dismisses it goes all the way down and icing called against Columbus. I thought Atkinson had an opportunity. Oh, the gate. This looked like he was gonna make me get in there first, and he Stop skating right at the blue line. Well, maybe not. Serving his energy will call it that. Well, one by the Hawks. Kane grabs the puck from the left wing boards flips it through to the right wing side. Carlson will fire that's block. King got the puck back, leaves it behind the jackets. Net for Souter. He's checked. Like pinballs away to the far corner. Dad consent passing ahead. Rosler Victory Center ice over the hot line. Right wing got by hip check from the Han carries a puck behind the hawk left to the left wing corner. He leaves it there, and the Han is the only one to get the puck past actually hit one of the referees. Now the Han again behind the hock net, passing up the right side Kane, He'll backhanded ahead down into the jacket zone along the right boards to bring it to the park checked by peak. On back in behind the jackets. Never, Bjork's strand will carry the center ice. Fully know Hawk line left wing where he deflects the puck down to the corner. Genera pokes it free. Riley Nash took it and from the side the net he'll fire that hit the stick of Kevin Lincoln and Here's national left wing corner. Hawk's own shoved into the glass buys your door off Eric Robinson to the puck will put it down behind the hawk yet Soderbergh fishes it out, but lost it from behind the net. Folino clipped it out to the line Deep slapped the peak. He'll move it down the right wing corner Hawk's own. Carl Soderberg took it there for the Hawks. Put it up the left wing due to break it. He slaps it across the rink, and this will deflect down into the Columbus own hawks will get a line changes. The jackets get the puck back. Blackhawks actually did a good job of defending against the blue Jackets when they had possessed indeed. Offensive zone kept into the outside, didn't get any shots in through the middle of the ice area. Good job defending Andrew Pick between the circles jacket zone with a buckle pass up the left wing Dell's auto Center ice. Takes the puck down the boards behind the Hawk net..

"That that just shows everybody that. Hey, I'm buying into this a swell. Let's go guys, let's let's have some fun that Zoe got a ton of bricks to fit in here before 11 o'clock. But Jeremy is now meeting with reporters VIAS and Let's get some of that game for two periods that were really good, and you know, obviously pretty good overtime. First question will come from Charlie Romilly Otis from NBC. Sports. Charlie, You're Mike's acts of Go ahead. Jeremy in years past. Obviously, this team was very high risk high reward, but it seems like this year you guys can win those 21 games. How nice is that going into a game where you can win the defense of games or the offensive games? Yeah, well, we're trying to Get it. Have the hockey together that we can win. Sustainably. We gotta feel like we have a chance to win every night on You know where what? We love scoring goals, no doubt about that. But you know, we gotta you gotta keep it under your net. If you want to have any tape up consistent success on and I feel like we're doing now we gotta Yeah. Say the same things but Work ethic and commitment to doing little things and It's so long, more fun went so happy, really happy with how we Ride it through this game. Then how big were those three caves in the first two minutes of the second period there to keep it at one all? Yeah, we weren't very good for that little stretch. No. You two chances. One short handed in the one with that comes out of the box. So, you know, important moment and That's what a team that sort of team does he pick each other up and And like, just like, tell me about Go to Ben Pope with the Chicago Sun Times, then your mike is active. Go ahead. Germany and I have four rookies, including Lincoln and on the ice for the OT goal. Just what was that sort of say about this team in the impact? The young guys are making well, they're getting better there. Building confidence and Work or building confidence in them. They understand. Key moments in the game, and we gotta play and, you know way need them to be able to step forward and Do those things and you know it's a couple of real be place to get excellent back. Tricked by Menschel strong, strong battle strong on the puck by Hagel. He skates 200 ft with the on his back. You know, very intelligent, play toe kind of free up suitor, and then you know, it's a Very skilled, very skilled player to score. So you know, obviously likes is part of that. He's made a lot of big saves tonight. That zip unwashed. On then, did you talkto PS after the first period? It seemed like I was a little rough for him. And how impressed for you with how he responded as the game went on. Yeah, just, uh What's the one play a couple turnovers and Ends up in the back of that That's gonna happen sometimes, But the important thing is is more so how we responded. I thought it was really good after that, and No. So it's Cirque. Sure, nice to see him come through with a big goal. Go to Phil Thompson with Chicago Tribune failure. Mike is active. Go ahead. Jeremy kind of following but then question Do you feel like You know a situations like us suitors turn over there. He just kind of mentally brushed it off that it didn't get to him. Yeah, well, you found a way to you know him. You know that a scandal what he felt and You always want to. You want to get back to it, But it's important not to let it affect your next shift. And, uh, I thought, you know, Z the way played the rest of game was, uh Excellent, So a lot of mental toughness from him and Specially. She's played the main games yet so for him to do that, and be a big part of Fisk and you know It gets a hard, hard building her team. It went against and he's a big part of it. You mentioned the big states by Lincoln and another case where he faced some solar breakaways like curry on off coming out of the penalty box. How big was that? Little ended up on duh. Lot of sustained the game. Jeremy Carlton. Hey, continues with reporters down in Dallas. We're going toe slip out right now. Because again, we have a bunch of squeeze in before 11 o'clock, But choice and final thoughts. Yeah, I look at the score sheet here. Another 21 game. Six Black Hawks made the score sheet that includes Let's see four rookies, a guy in his second year and the new guy in Matea CN Market. It's just fascinating to see this this Whole parade. This this whole pot roast coming together and finding different guys to contribute night in and night out. Even though your stars of the guys who are the ones who are relied upon and carrying the load, it's fun to watch. It's fun to watch the energy and I love the way that Jeremy is handling these young guys. Suitor knows he made a mistake and before the popcorn and then that I think I said, you know, they turned the park over there, and they made some sloppy place and they were turning some park over. Is there park management wasn't great. But he got suitor right back out there. If you make a mistake as a player, you know you've made a mistake. I mean, nobody has to tell you, but how you reinforce it, and how you respond from that situation is how This team is gonna build on itself within itself Within that group inside the locker room. I think there is a lot of belief that Hey, we didn't play our best game, but we got great goaltending. Thank you, Kevin Lincoln and And then let's just move on here. Let's try and figure out a way to be better, and they're fighting ways and different ways. Toe win these things and Jeremy Collinson. Reinforced, you know his hunch to get Hagel out there because he's a competitor. He's gonna battle and he talked about going to 100 ft with a guy on his back, and that was Pavelski. Oh, they're one of the best guys in the NHL in the one on one battles and And Hagel's just getting it done, and he's he's not a fancy player. He's a you know, meat and potatoes type of guy and and that's how they're getting the job done. Everybody's as we've talked about buying into what they need to do here. The key is as you move forward the goaltending, But the more that you play a better style and a team style. You're going to take pressure off your goaltender on a more regular basis. Allow him to just kind of feel a little bit more comfortable in there, not under siege with all kinds of shots coming at you with all kinds of, you know, pressure. And and they've done that. They've handled that They have done an excellent job in finding ways to manufacture points when they haven't been at their best, and when they have been at their best, they've been good. It's a It's a good kind of buzz. And you know every every time we sign off here at every post game show. You're looking even more forwards a couple days. Whatever they play again in the back of the United Center on Thursday, you know, you know what the bad thing is there? I know we gotta move it along quickly. It is, I think the fans of the United Center what would love to see this team play in person because it zah team that's not going to quit. You know what? It's a hard nosed team. It's not a big team, but it's a very competitive team is a relentless team that the way that they're playing, and I think, you know, even coming after this game. I think you walked back into the United Center. If there are fans in there and you would get it unbelievable response. That's just too bad. But anyway, we get you we get to enjoy this team. However, however, away we are able to and even though the fans aren't there, I'm sure they're getting a kick out. I would I would love to be able to walk into the locker room and talk to these guys in purses it and see the smile on their face and talk to them. And then got a sense of what's going on, baby. Yes, but you know, it would be fun for us, for our sake. At least. Okay, Thanks. Thanks, Chris. I'm speaking for myself, so great job is always looked for. To see any on Thursdays. We check out this club again against Columbus. Great job tonight..

"34 on the clock sooner, along with cane and Matea CNN marker, the trio out there Is a little bit of a difficult play there for Reimer, plucking right out next to the post. He wasn't sure that he had that shot and you look at the suitor coming in there and firing a shot just as the whistle blew their Ryan. We're talking to the referee behind the play as well. Install wins this face off from suitor the Kanes clear there in his terrifying and lift the butt of a hot blue line. Calvin Han right there to shovel it back to center ice. Hurricanes get it back. Jacob Slaven will stick it down the West side boards into the hawk's own. This rolls behind the net into the far corner suitor pumps it up the left wing to cane, then over to Connor Murphy, carrying the center ice. Sends you and mark away over the hurricane line to the right wing corner checked by slaving but leaves the puck in the right wing corner. Hamilton fed it up the middle of the ice to terrify Nin, who will find a whole breaking through center ice over the hot line on the left wing, and he couldn't get around. Connor Murphy. Nice defensive play my Murphy. What the fuck over to Keith Behind the net. The suitor far corner. You tried to backhand it behind the net. This deflects through next to the goal line. He tried to flip it out of his own kept in by the Hurricanes. And it's fun now behind the hock net time again. Taken back there by special to cough to flex a past him again. Now beside the left wing circle against the boards he's brought again had the high slot along wrist shot from Pepsi misses the Hawks. Net. I think it would have an effect across the country. Do you think so? Yeah, it would definitely be a message. What's especially ironic about Chicago schools is the kids. They're so you know, disproportionately minority kids. Yes, that's what I was gonna hit with Teachers Union is just beating the hell out of them because they can statistic 84%. Of Chicago Public School students are black or Latino 84%. So if this sort of thing were happening in any other context, there'd be all kinds of cries about systemic racism. And you know another example of the white person forming a society that keeps people of color down because they're the other. Right, right. So phony, all the people in charge, although the powerful people here are all black, right, and I don't think it's got anything to do with race, and neither does most stuff. It's just clap our classic power and money, that sort of thing. But, yeah, Wow, that is absolutely amazing. Um And this one woman who is the What is she gonna make? Sure you know what she is Jackson? She's the CEO of Chicago Public school. Okay, so she has a podcast was just reading some of the stuff, she said under podcast in recent weeks and years. Um I think I have the right girl. Yeah, I believe you heard that they have a CEO, you know, not a superintendent or whatever, what's in it for black people, she said. The word equity has become a buzzword for politicians. But many have failed to actually deliver on it. What I've found And what we say on our show is that equity is really the new way for white people to get re rich. So I have become scared of the word equity because when I hear it, I realize all kinds of crazy things were about to happen when when they started using it around the vaccine. Oh, boy, what's going to happen now? On Dwight's happened is the vaccine has been poorly distributed all across the country because they're so worried about equity similar with all kinds of different stuff. It's gone so far for her that when she hears equity, she thinks it means some sort of rejiggering the the machine to try to help rich people say entrenched in the richness. That's interesting. I don't know what she's talking about. Well, look, Janice, you propose it for your reasons all oppose it for mind, and maybe we can restore little sanity to the national conversation said Right now I think about equity from the standpoint of everything they sold us about cannabis and how it really turned out to be nothing for us. Don't know what she believes That community was sold on the idea of legalizing marijuana. And how it turned out, but Anyway, the to get to the bottom line. The teachers are not in school today. They're going to do a couple of days. Is that a couple of days or a couple of weeks cooling period, I think was 48 hours that Lori Lightfoot declared. I was reminded that she ran across teachers union goon for mayor. And one and and, immediately uh, their relationship has been very rocky. Even though she's away Lefty anyway, there's teachers are still out in the schools there, and that's very disappointing. Um, I mentioned to Tesla's. They're recalling 135,000 model s and model X vehicles because the touch screens don't work. It's one of their largest every year, Um, recalls. Uh, Russia has a new vaccine out which I would have scoffed that if it weren't peer reviewed in the British Journal, where they found it to be almost 92% effective. Which is good, which means just there's another vaccine out there. But here's something I came across. I mentioned on the vaccines that has changed the way I look at this. So Pfizer's 95% effective Johnson and Johnson's vaccine is 72% effective and so on and so on, But that's not the right way to be thinking about this vaccine for this situation. All of the public results have eliminated deads, says Ah, reporter in The New York Times who looked into this and understands it better than I do. And the official language of research. Science of vaccine is typically considered effective on Lee if it prevents people from coming down with any degree of illness because you're usually talking about something like Ebola or Rabies. Yeah, you can't have a little Ebola's right. So the vaccine how effective it is, is whether or not if you get it, you're gonna you know, have tragic consequences. We know you're looking a little foamy today. Yeah, I got a touch of the Rabies or you don't hear 50% of people who get Ebola get no symptoms. Let's say no, That's not the way it works. I bled out, but only half so they mean OK, 72% effective is in because you need to know. Does anybody does it? Keep anybody from getting it? That's not the case here because over half of people who get this thing have no symptoms whatsoever, and that the vast majority don't end up in the hospital. And, of course, the vast vast, vast majority 99. A half percent of us don't die. So the effectiveness rate is, you know, should be looked at through a much different lens. Obviously. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I mean, all we're discussing this the other day, the the less effective Johnson Johnson single. Those vaccine, which actually becomes very, very effective after it's been in your system for like a month, But It had zero deaths. It is it seemed to be 100% effective, preventing you from getting sick enough to croak. And that's good enough for May, sir. I concur. Yeah. Um, well, maybe now would be a good time. We have the back to back clips about double masking somewhere on here because that gets into the how, Uh, Not only is our media really not done a good job of educating us on a whole bunch of these different things. Some of our experts are not some of our experts are not doing a good job..

"Yeah, I think I think Chris you can look at you know Mitchell's play there and and it's pretty easy. Just say Hey, listen on that situation. Let's back off into the neutral zone. Really. We were forced into a corner rate by the boards and the blue line there. You don't have many. Options. Let's back out. Let's regroup. Let's try and find some time and space still awaiting a second player at the podium for the Blackhawks right now, As soon as we see someone, we will certainly die. Then it's gonna be interesting to hear Jeremy Carlton's comments after this one, and you know, in terms of of the four lines there was a There was a lot of quietness among the four lines except for that fourth line once again because You know when things were going well over the 2nd and 3rd period's usually it was that force lot of fourth line getting some action in Nashville zone. You just You just wish those guys were there for reasons. Just wish someone Would be that that may, perhaps is a little bit more of a finisher, our creator among those three guys because they do everything else, right on down that sheet of ice. They reliable in what they need to do. They're not going to create a lot of grade a scoring opportunities, but they're gonna muck and grind and they did get in the offensive zone. They're going to crash to the net. John had mentioned that Hagel was denied his first ever goal in the NHL by a nice save My pecker rainy, but that was a big scramble right around the front of the net. So look at that. And take a page out of the way that they play. It's a simple game. Put it into areas where you could four check. Get in there hard Finish checks, get pucks towards the front of the net. Get bodies there and look for those loose pucks. You know, I thought it was a quiet night for Um, You know a lot of players in this game that you would hope that they stepped up and continued building the momentum that you saw here in the last couple games and Circle back to its Malcolm Suban because some eyebrows may have been raised. And Jeremy Carlton didn't go to Kevin Lincoln. And for 1/4 consecutive start after a day off, trying to keep that moment, um going. You figured he was going to have to split these duties here, but this was certainly no felt of Malcolm Suban, and he has to feel pretty good about himself. Coming out of this game after having just that season opener under under his on his resume for this season. If you're the goaltender right now for the Blackhawks, it's very tough. Um, mentally too. Keep yourself Being positive in the process of what's going on here. You're looking for one goaltender to step up and be the guy. Not only are you looking for that one guy, but you're also looking for the guy who could be the The number two guy and there's three guys in the equation. They're all going to have some opportunities here. And I think that for Suban after that first game little bit frustrating against a really good team that buried their opportunities. Now you look at this game here at National had some good quality chances and he was up to the task, so he's got to feel a lot better about his play here tonight. You don't know when the next start is going to be. I would assume that because it's back to back that the Lincoln and gets back into the net at tomorrow, But there's not much that blanket and probably could have done in this game. There was any better than what Sue Banded. Tell you what as we wait more reaction, Let's take a break here. Our post game show. Great in them somewhere activity down in Nashville of the Blackhawks podium so far, just Matea CN Marquez spoken, so we're gonna take our first break here. Hopefully here for isn't black hawks on the other side. You listen to the postgame show on 7 20, WGN. The.

"Catch it kind of guessed that Where it's coming from 10 seconds. Don't get to see it right into your glove. 10 seconds of the power play. Now, five years a shot from you'll see from the line butterfly save made by Suban. A follow up chance by Ellis top of the last circle that reflects over the net. Hawks come to full strength. Keith passing ahead to camp it center ice. He does a little loop and flips the puck down between the circles Hawk Zone to the awaiting Duncan Keith. He's holding onto the puck long enough for the Hawks to gain a line changes in fires the puck ahead to flex down in behind the Predator net and the TSX home now has it there. Here's that home with a spinning pass around up the left wing side. Reds were able to escape their zone on grand Line into the Hawks zone. Looks like he may have been hooked up a little bit, but no penalty called friends. Get it back Cousins. Grand Lenny shoots since Gars cousins from behind the hawk, yet fed it out tops of the circles, actually in the left circle, the Grand Lynn The one times a shot past Malcolm Suban and we're tied it too. I can't fault Sue that on this one. Pressure has been coming. Blackhawks doubled up Actually more than doubled up on the shots Right now. It was the 35th shot for the Predators to 17 hunks of only had two shots on goal through the first half. Of this third period. The door off kind of standing there in no man's land, and somebody's got to pick up that area. What a rocket! By Grand Land Up into the top corner. So 2 to 8 47 to go on again. Maybe the Blackhawks Don't try and start to play a little bit more aggressively, rather than defending. The score. Behind the Predator. Net. Matea Seco home has the park. We'll start up with it, passing head its center ice. And then over the hotline. Granlund along the right boards near the point, tried to send to the puck this to flex onto the stick of shot. He'll backhanded to center ice for Souter Granlund step in step.
