"Bad luck with very and that's I mean you know because god knows what you know what the results of that could be yeah I I think it's interesting in talking to voters today is the voters who are not who are more moderate and honestly a little bit more apathetic about the political about the presidential race in general yeah it's probably the first thing that people know about her right you know right side of the R. Massachusetts state house begin hell Bible grave political intrigue is you know people know that she took on the banks and people know that she called herself native American right she's a blonde haired blue eyed right right which is which is that I really like that's the thing that gets people crazy right when you don't know anything about the you know scandal are or cross I scandal behind it look at her yeah and just doesn't strike you as anybody who's made American yeah and I think it makes her her story it's damaging because it makes her story and her identity ironically very confusing because she does have this compelling story of growing up and growing up blue collar and working so hard to rise to the ranks of being and Harvard professor I don't think someone should be punished for taking a lot of money to work at Harvard because I think if any of us were killed for needy I'm free if they want me to TS wasn't absolutely yeah I'm you know I'll do that at night yeah but Arneson but when it comes down to you know talking so strongly about your identity and then kind of glossing over or something like this right you know it's just a major misstep to me and it sticks out to people yeah I think crave authenticity ironically and their politicians I know something like that it's a pretty big error I wonder if that's why devol the government the former governor is is looking at coming in it it it's so interesting to me that this late in the game he's some and it's funny because I was just thinking about him the yesterday and my husband was too and I don't even remember or like I don't know why my husband was I was thinking about him because here I am now and now I can't remember I was like oh well Patrick thought of the movie really all I was really wondering I wonder would devolve that Monday Night Football if you don't see in this case it's a big part of your life that you can't live eight I think it's true though just because yeah he was so when I was at the little son I was working at the state house right when he was running for for governor so I I covered the governor's race and that was like I was so young and that was my first governor's race that I covered so it was like I guess I got to know all the players and of course they didn't think he was you know Tom Riley was supposed to be though the he was the throws in winter so it was a surprising win and then this was like his first time you know this first time really being a politician so it's really interesting to see and cover all of his terms so yes I do I do again he's like an ex boyfriend I know I can't shake and while you're like thought of this I wonder if two devol would hate yeah totally he knows what it's like he gets me but you were asking me before the show about the first Massachusetts yeah which is very a very strange wind because it happened well before I was born is Chappaquiddick okay I learned about that I remember in I think a neck high school journalism class might have been a college journalism class yeah but we were learning about about gotcha interviews and that was an example of how you know breaking open a story and trying to hold politicians accountable how would how you could help the power of journalism Rabor just sitting there I think I was like a teenager and being like want to ruin someone's life like that yeah the sweet naive contacts right right now he doesn't get to be president we never use it again went over my head a little bit like that reporter what a jerk yeah well that is indeed how most of those reporters are made to feel so if you see as a reporter like what a great yeah I or yeah I mean as in the fire it is right yeah yeah it is funny that is normally how those reporters me to feel and it's funny because Chappaquiddick is a story where that I have not done on animal house yet yeah and it's personal because it's just so loaded you know and also feels like it's just been done to hi hat that I wanted movie came out what two years yeah I just I just recently yeah the whole movie that they I think they'd premiered it on Martha's vineyard wow yeah I theater there which surprised me that they would let them do that right now I guess they didn't premiered in Hyannis port so yeah and it is I mean one of the interesting things as you as I look at especially like older scandals is how they are covered and that's the other thing is like the way it comes out and and what reporter maybe has a you know more of a a softer view of certain politicians and different aspects like that it's very very interesting to sort of see the way a certain publications covering it versus the way another publication is covering it it's right it is really incredible how how like what gets written what sort of the final take away for a lot of people is often colored by who end up either being the Victor or I mean that's yeah you know okay Kennedy went on to be the elder statesmen yeah now and was again very beloved got a big you know didn't get to be president but he got to be forgiven and continue his exactly very successful political career and Massachusetts it's so interesting too because there was this there is this episode of animal house that I did about a very specific because there's unfortunately a lot of incidents with Ted Kennedy that that basically qualify for animal house but there was one unfortunately I animal yeah he's not okay eat it this is before he met Vicki and remarried and sort of got is bleep together and it's right around we met rami challenge him which is like ninety four I think because he was a mess he really was and it was like he lost his mo Jo right it was like he just lost his way entirely so he wasn't really paying too much attention to politics either you know what I mean and on the job he wasn't didn't really care you know as a politician yeah like we yeah if I was like I'm just you know I'm not really sure I wasn't or sports right yeah now I'm just done without Celtics would rather not for that game three it's yeah that's pretty much where it was that and there is a really good article by this guy named Michael Kelly who used used to be a reporter for the Atlantic the Atlantic monthly I when it was still here in Boston and is a really good writer and the article that he that he wrote was bar room tells like totally brutal about Kennedy and it was focused actually just the opening scene alone it shows has Kennedy with the sheikhs from drinking too much like the night before yeah I just I mean it is it is a really one of those really great stories where it opens up and and narrative you know describes a scene and you really can be there you really can picture at great kind of magazine amazing exactly and it and it's funny the the almost the best part about it is he also shows because it's this press conference that like Kennedy can clearly not be even bothered by but the funny thing is in it's about healthcare at one point he is asked a question and this guy Michael Kelly writes that you see flashes of the old Kennedy II where he gets really excited about an aspect of this healthcare bill that he himself is trying to push for a conference actually he actually went and sites to do its job and I agree and gets really excited about it and so the like so that he wove that into this sort of opening scene out of his article it really was very captivating and a really really well written peace and just sort of interesting to see the Kennedy is so lost his way but but you can still see that sort of magic that clearly he has when he chooses to sort of yeah yes to be is to get people to come to work of so yeah so that is that is interesting was there one that you were like remember that you were covering when you were sort of starting on the job I scandal I guess I haven't really gotten to have my big scandal moment yet yeah I mean either then you know I haven't I feel like the me to staff has been really interesting to me just especially as a young woman and seeing all of that it wasn't political by I think was about a year and a half ago I did a story about restaurant workers yeah and the need to era and how I mean they're getting covered so little because it yeah now it's it's all okay Matt Lauer and the right right all these other high profile people who get caught being very badly behavior but then there is the everyday cases of you know young women who were just trying to waitress on the side of whatever else they're doing and Brian to pay their rent and having to deal with the same thing yeah nobody really tells that at least the Mario was much Mario Batali at least that sort of you know help with that aspect but you know that was so you know they did close down Bob go in after the seaport pizza place yeah so well being the impact great yeah in our daily lives and I mean that's that is I mean I you obviously is for from doing this for as long as I have it it is really interesting to see it certainly is a reporter when you're in it it's very weird and one of the things that might my first scandal that I covered right so the first one I remember as an outsider was that never realists oracle ten running against the incumbent map realist but as a reporter il ten is such a great work I know I know and because it's got so many vowels yeah I mean first of all you don't know if there's an I or any eat tore gold send our and what does the I don't know I just hate to see it as a book report exposed to know this you know but indeed I have had to like I've I'm probably misspelled it because I've gone back to him through the years he liked can't give up to fall I can't give up your call to know I will never give up your goals and because he was actually this was in the high school history and I wrote a song to work there about nav rule is eight but it was actually know the song was from Torkel sins point of view well that's very nice it was it was odd but yes it was it was quite something it was based on because you like crafted himself after weld and you know is right around the time like wild was doing really well as governor Torkel ten was was crafting himself to be a similar Republican like a social liberal but conservative fiscally so Massachusetts yeah yeah so anyway yes to work within indeed out when I the first one that I wrote about was a summer bill Maher this isn't my job at the summer real journal my very first Larry all reporting job local my god and I was like it was I was a call up at the glow before I graduated and I was lucky to get a job with the some real journal instead of like having to go to like the bomb you know like sixty no absolute being able to stay in the city at least but anyway so dirty Kelly a was there and there was this there was this really horrific gang rape in foss park and it was by and Mister keen gang members are and it was a disabled girl it was like the worst you could possibly get and she was a teenager all this terrible stuff and at what point I'm they really wanted a gang unit out in east summer about which is where it occurred in foss park and the the mayor just wouldn't do it for some reason and you know I was like what what do you gonna do in response to this and she said well we'll do more lighting and so course that's pretty weak right I ran we ran with that that was the headline was more lighting for this horrific thing so I she in response she had had a needing that was planned to talk about the incident to talk to the community about it and she got all of her workers to show up to this meeting that she knew I was going.

"Up to ninety nine years for doctors who perform abortions, Kristen Ford with pro choice. America believes the extreme measure is an attempt to criminalize women's reproductive choice. "And how it's going to be governed. You come build an effective national security architecture until then it looks like American and African Union forces will be needed. I'm ready that's amend Hussein. He manages a hotel in Mogadishu that was attacked by suicide bomber. Few years ago. Even like us, we kinda keep continuing with count people have limits when this kind of things have been there's no backup system. This is a war on terror or Yoto kind of face these things Hussein feels he is facing these things very much on his own not sufficiently protected by his government or by foreign troops for the world. I'm Mulia Schenker. Let me take a few seconds for a quick correction to a story we aired yesterday about Japan's far right and nuclear weapons, we misstated the year that the US bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki it happened. Definitely in August of nineteen Forty-five. Tens of thousands of kids around the world. Skip school today to demand that adults do something about climate change. It's part of the growing movement of Friday protests that we told you about yesterday on the world today. American kids. Join their European peers in walking out of their classrooms. One of the protests was at the Massachusetts state house. Right here in Boston. My name is Harry, Ferguson. I'm thirteen years old art teacher told us about this yesterday. And I was and I knew I know how climates be engaged, and I realized that in a couple of years it's going to be reversible. And by that time that's pretty much Armegeddon after that. Like a lot of cities are going to be like overcome with water from the melting ice caps. And all of the pollution is could force us to stop going to certain areas. Yeah. In fifth grade. I did a climate change unit on Japan project, if my friend who's from Japan learned a lot about how some of the surrounding islands. Are you going to be affected? We did a model UN about it. I do think kids can make a difference. If people see other kids going out and protesting this they'll they'll want to join in after a while, we might have a big movement. That's going to affect the entire. I am all on alert. And I am sixteen years old..

So I said, I'm Dan Rae. I'm the host of the show. I think this is our two hundred and twenty seventh show of the year. If I was keeping count Britney for the record Britney is behind the glass tonight. Rob Brooks is on a well-deserved night off. He's off for a few nights. As a matter of fact, and I'll be taking a few well-deserved nights off. So this is my penultimate show of two thousand eighteen and I just want to once again, thank all of you who listen to this broadcast who participate in this broadcast who off your opinions, whatever your opinions are all points of view are accepted and welcomed here. More than accepted welcomed. This is the place where reasonable people can disagree reasonably. And I tried to go out of my way to give people as much time as possible within reason to express their opinions cognizant of the fact that there are others who most nights waiting online. Now, we're gonna have a great show for you tonight. We have four different topics coming up. We will. We'll be talking moment about the army major who is now facing murder charges having killed what was believed to be a Taliban Taliban bombmaker back in two thousand ten will get to that. In addition at nine o'clock for those of you who are millennials or if you have someone who, you know, who is a millennial and would like to understand a little bit more about the process of either purchasing a condominium or a home condominiums are home as well. And then the single family, home or duplex, whatever we will have three. Great friends of this program. Marshall Sloan Barri Sloan Linda Sloan k the three principles of century Bank and talk about that and talk about just why it's important to establish a relationship with a Bank, all sorts of reasons. We'll talk about that coming up at ten o'clock. We'll have state Representative Jim Lyons in studio, and he will once again have in place at the state house. I believe it's will be in the hall of flags the Nativity scene, which I'm sure will drive some of the even Jellicoe eighth Theus crazy that there's an Nativity scene on display at the Massachusetts state house, but we'll talk to state Representative lions about that. And then at eleven o'clock, this is very interesting story, which I think is kind of. Intriguing to two men who are about to be married in Arizona. Wanted to give a gift to their the flower girls in the wedding. And they didn't want to give the flower girls, a, Ken and Barbie sets. So they decided to try to create a Ken Ken set. We'll get to all of that. And Mattel is actually showing some interest. But I as we have done ever since the beginning of the football season. I think you know, that ESPN Monday night football made a decision not to play the national anthem nor to show the national anthem at any of their Monday night football games. I was incensed about that. I think some of you are as well we have played several versions of national anthem Super Bowl, national anthems and others. We played last week the national anthem at the army navy game of of a couple of weeks ago. And tonight, we're going to play an instrumental version of the national anthem, and you can sing along if you'd like this is the national anthem performed at Notre Dame university. And we're going to dedicate this one to the man. Who suggested to us our good friend, Charlie from Heber, one of our most loyal listeners and callers and he wanted to hear the Notre Dame national anthem. So here.

"Lives in cities they are connecting to local politics and and they already have relationships with the left wing of the democratic party or the fringe left in city and state politics we've seen this already when the state house in the massachusetts state house was convinced by the left here the organized left here not to stop a bbs endeavour not to make that not to outlaw the boycott of israel so this is part of a bigger movement from campuses now and we see it into local politics so it may not be that important it's not gonna hurt hewlett packard what happens on next week but it's going to send a signal one way or another a about the legitimacy of the jewish people and their state and be what are the possibilities of organizing against israel in city halls bingo i agree with you in fact look my prediction is and that's why i think this is so important that's why i'm saying cambridge is becoming ground zero in massachusetts i can easily see boston following cambridge somerville following cambridge chelsea following cambridge i mean this thing is going to spread like wildfire so i've got to ask you the sixty four thousand dollar question why this alliance between the radical left which is cambridge and radical islam which both of whom clearly now have formed an alliance against the jews against the state of israel and now increasingly are dominated by antisemitism why are why is the radical left teaming up with the islamists that's a very good question because how would you ever think that the people who love bikinis with embrace the people who love burqas right how can that be the people who say they love freedom are embracing people who throw you off a roof if you're homosexual.
