"Know, we'll benchmark. Okay. And we'll cut KG. Oh my gosh, you can't even cut his own coach. He goes so Gundy, you and Gunn do you still tight? We are. How often do you guys talk? You know, he's very busy during the season. We'll check in with each other. You know, every once in a couple of weeks. Okay, so. Anytime you have a coach, it was the Alma mater played it as Alma mater and played quarterback. I think it was very valuable for me. What is his Molly come from? With that molecule. Where did his mullet come from? And one day he came into practice and had it, and kept working. And I think did you never say anything to him? I did. I liked it. I mean, my nickname from his big daddy. So I'd say big daddy is, I think it's time maybe we get a little trim. Yeah. That's in our hand. And he listened to me, he eventually cut trimmed it. I think he had it my senior year only. I don't know, I'm not sure, but either one or two years, but he trimmed it eventually after I left. All right. All right, next one. Next one. Here's another one for mason Rudolph start bench cut. Best Pittsburgh cuisine. Peppy's number 7, which is the Roth less burger. From anti steak sandwich or Allegheny's sandwich shop roast beef. What do you got for me? Yeah, I got a good bench cut. Start for mayonnaise. That's a Pittsburgh staple. Of course. Love it. Big time favorite. Okay. Pepe's Pepe's rather. Bench and then we'll cut Allegheny. You're gonna cut, okay, you're gonna brush the roughest burger? Have you ever had the Roethlisberger? I have not had it, but I've been to peppy's. Okay. It's great. Okay. So I need to have the Roethlisberger or something. Do you really? Are you just saying that? No, I'm just saying that. No, but it's been epic. Do you know if Ben has been ever had a Roethlisberger? I'm sure he has. I don't know that for a fact, but I would wouldn't you ever sandwich if it was named after you? You know what? I would not if it was not what I'd like. You know what I'm saying? Like they'd have to England. You want input on what the sandwiches. Damn straight. Yeah, of course. What would the eyes and sandwich be? Yeah. Oh boy. Yeah, what would they? What would be the eyes and sandwich? It would have to be some sort of an Italian concoction. It would have to have some red sauce. Man, I have to meatballs of chicken parm with maybe some meatballs on top, like a big old a beef chicken situation. Of course, breaded with the bread. So it's multi breaded. Multi layers of the bread. A lot of gluten. That's my problem. I'm too inflamed. What's.

"He doesn't win it. Lions stealers. All right, so this was a tie. This was just unsatisfactory in so many ways. No Ben Roethlisberger, he ends up in COVID protocol. So mason Rudolph ends up getting the start here for the Steelers. It was just bad game between bad teams. The one thing I was kind of hopeful for and I've talked about this multiple times here was this was another opportunity for the Steelers against the team that they can pass protect against. Just like Monday night, they could keep their quarterback clean against that bears pass rush minus Khalil Mack, and they just don't do it. They just don't go downfield. They went downfield a couple times early. They got a long pass interference penalty, mason Rudolph isn't a great downfield passer. They were missing some weapons, but still, it just felt like a week they could take a couple of shots and they didn't. It's just the same thing they keep on trotting out every week. And I don't know, I guess I have to learn to live with that at this point. Yeah, I still don't understand why mason Rudolph is the option here. Like if you were a backup quarterback strategically plotting where you would want to go in order to get snaps at some point this season, the Steelers had to be up there on your list of potential ways to crack the lineup here. But mason, I mean, the first interception was really bad. You know, just sort of a classic like almost like high school miscommunication overthrow. I think they benefited somewhat from some pass interference stuff down the field just because the lines were biting kneecaps while they were trying to go deep, but it was, you know, this is, you know, I don't know why this is the option. The Steelers should have something better in place right now. It should look way better than this. You should not be tying the Lions at this point with the division in the ballots. Yeah, I mean, both of these teams are clearly going to be in the quarterback market in 2022 for different reasons. I think the lines were just going to give Jared Goff a try this year and see if it worked out. He came as part of the Matthew Stafford trade. But I think we've seen enough at this point that he hasn't worked out..

"They're like ah. Let's just ignore it. It'll figure itself out no it won't. You have to find a way to win with Big Ben playing badly. Or replace Big Ben. So that's why they're losing. Management in Pittsburgh did not decide to solve the big bend problem. They're like, let's bring them back for one final year. Like, oh. Okay, you guys got sentimental. And I get it. He's a Hall of Fame quarterback is one of two super bowls, fair enough. But they didn't even trade for Gardner to meet you. They weren't like, let's just get a backup quarterback in case. There's no plan for after Big Ben and Pittsburgh. And they had plenty of warning, and they had plenty of opportunities to solve that problem and they didn't do it. If it were me, I'd have a quarterback waiting for after Big Ben. Maybe that's Duane Haskins, although I don't think so he doesn't even dress down for games. Mason Rudolph certainly is not the answer after Big Ben retires. And if you're a steelers fan, I think this whole process is unforgivable. I don't know why people never challenge ownership or never challenge. People yell at the coach. But the ownership is someone that if you want to punish ownership, don't watch, don't buy stuff, don't go to games..

"And that is the conundrum of the draft. Like right now right now. They got people saying meg. Jones will be first pick overall if we did the draft all over again. Nothing about mag jones told you that his skillset would resonate in the nfl better than the guys that were drafted ahead of him. His situation is better yes he situation is so we don't disagree we. I'm totally which. I'm just saying that it wasn't as clear cut in terms of leading up to the draft. Y'all had us football aficionados saying well. Dan who they're gonna take because it became storyline herbert or two. That's all i'm saying. If he came that listen for me. It was too. Because i saw about. I saw this league and what they were looking for. We understood what they were looking for but but now what we talking about today. The injury being associated with the things that you just pointed out about his production obviously is going to call in question if he could be a or the guy going forward. Got less than five starting quarterbacks. Already that we're dealing with it's a week to carson. Wentz is another one. Who's is going to have to deal with injury tag. But i wanna get to stephen as quarterback so the news of big ben's peck. Injury has many in steeler nation. Asking questions about the quarterbacks future but also the future of the team this season mason rudolph join. Hoskins are the teams backups of rothlisberger camp play former vp cam. Newton is still available after being released by the patriots. Big ben spoke today. Let's hear that fresh down. I don't know how it happened. Just what happened early in the game. i'm gonna do everything in today's only wednesday so we have a lot of time to to get ready to throw the ball since Since the game so Adrenaline going during the game. So i go. What do you think. If you're running the steelers. Should they sign cam. Yeah absolutely not only to bring in a presence but to move like i talked about with the way haskins and mason rudolph and way haskins emesa. Rudolph shouldn't be the reason you don't go out and try to get cam. Newton and cam is not far removed from the nfl. He did go through an entire training camp. He's a big do physical stature. Obviously you concerned about him being hit in the pocket but at least km can sidestep move out of the way and potentially do something and hail. If you're gonna throw a ball in two point oh seconds camp could do that just fine because he did it in carolina in his last year and was effective. So i look at this particular situation with the pittsburgh steelers as a better option for cam. Then he was in new england based on what he's going to be asked to do with the weapons that surround him in pittsburgh. Based on what. Stephen they say earlier about those guys that he can order. I'm piggybacking off of your point. You and i are aligned in this thinking because as much as our lamented the fact that if ron rivera and the washington football team wants ryan. Fitzpatrick went down. If they didn't call cam newton. I was concerned about cam..

"Solid performance on friday night the next winter this lab. This mason rudolph what was his stat line. He didn't even play. How does he be a winner. You say jeff did you watch the game mason. Rudolph didn't play. I did watch the game. But what i saw was a dwayne haskins played so poorly played so poorly. And yes his stats. And we'll get to duane and a little bit. He played poorly enough. That in my opinion mason rudolph just by default got bumped to qb to if there was a if there was a competition and as a giant. If i'm not saying there was. I'm not even saying the key to job was even open for graphic up for the taking but so if it was there's no doubt about it mason. Rudolph his to wayne housings can be three at least right now and before we go any further does it even matter does it matter right now. No it doesn't i mean. I think it's pretty clear. Joshua dobbs is not going to make the team. He's injured by the way but he's not going to make the team that the top three will does it matter whose two and three on the depth chart not to me not unless number seven ben rothlisberger down in which case the steelers have bigger issues. Let's move on the other winner. James peer his stat. Line four tackles. Three solo tackles and even had a tackle for loss. James beer if he showed me one thing on friday night his ability to tackle. He's not going to shy away from contact. That is something that. I can't stand from defensive backs where you know you see the running back or tight end coming into the flat. The cornerbacks approached dean of what their job is. But some of them boy do they not want to do it. They would rather jump off a bridge then you know. Try to tackle a tight end. And that's that's not easy and on lab players don't like to do it. James peer showed. He's at least has a willingness to tackle. I think he really solidified himself as third cornerback on the depth chart and how they utilize him. We have no clue. No one knows. But right now. I think james is going to be used. How he's going to be used has yet to be seen. But he's a winner definitely. Let's go to the fourth winner. Isaiah louder milk. The great game again. Friday night played a lot. I want to say that. He's almost a winner for the entire. Preseason the reason being when the steelers traded a fourth round twenty twenty two pick to the miami dolphins to go into the fifth round during the twenty twenty one. Nfl draft everyone myself included said. Okay here we go who they gonna get really excited. They're trading back in. They wanna pay a one eight player. They definitely have a player. They don't want to wait on and it's isaiah louder. Milk out of wisconsin okay. No-one what who where. Why when no one knew anything about this player if anyone did. They had to be wisconsin fan. I was very hesitant. Read the reports in the reviews and the scouting reports and it was really with loud. Milk was this guy's a project. I'm not saying he's gonna play significant repetitions but he has been a pleasant surprise. Finished friday with five tackles one solo. Tackle one tackle for loss of sack in a quarterback hit so as allowed or milk. He's had a great preseason. I think he showed a lot of promise. And i think that he could be really really good in a few years. He is a project but he's been a pleasant surprise isaiah. Louder milk is a winner. Chase clayton will also finds his way on the winner list. He didn't play much but you remember. He had ankle injury. I was anxious to see okay. How's it going to respond. Here's his stat line. One reception eighteen yards is a nice catch for a first down. It was their steelers. I first down by the way. He only had two targets. I was one cat for eighteen yards. He also had a run. He had one rush for eleven yards on an end around jay's able to me look like the ankle's not going to be an issue it's not lingering. The fact that even had him out there was surprising. But hey he's only second-year player they probably wanted to make sure his ankles good a check checkmark. He's good he's healthy. That's what we wanna see. Let's go to the losers list okay. I duane haskins had to do it had to put in their finished. His nine of sixteen for one hundred eight yards a six point. Eight average had one touchdown. One interception wasn't sacked at all. Seventy one point nine rating if he hadn't have been ray reinserted into the lineup. Because remember dobbs took over in the third quarter and then he got hurt hurt. His toe in has to go back in and it was the last two minutes one he. He led the steelers to their only scoring drive. That wasn't a field. Obviously a touchdown drive if it weren't for that his stat line was absolutely abysmal. It was awful and you could say it was the offensive line you could say was the receivers you could say was a myriad of different things. The fact remains. He just didn't get the job done when he had an opportunity to really prove where he belongs on that quarterback hierarchy. I'm not saying he's done. I'm not saying he's going to get cut. I'm not saying that he's a one year and done with the steelers. All i'm saying is that he had an opportunity and it seemed to pass by. I expected more. I think a lot of people were with me but nonetheless. Dwayne haskins is the first loser. Next is matthew sexton he had to return for minus two yards and also to fumbles in matthew. Got a lot of talk on her steelers preview show before the game on thursday night and he deserves a chance and i get that but at the same time he also brought no he provided nothing as a receiver and so in the nfl anymore. You don't have return guys just return guys period. And so when i think about that i think about matthew sexton. I wrote an article on saturday. I think saturday and it was about how the steelers are not going to base any players future with the team off of one game. And i use matthew sexton's As an example he had been the team's best returner up until friday night he had big returns on the punt game in most likely he understood that he has to make a play. He's going to have to return a kick and he can't waste an opportunity and so he probably i guarantee if you ask them. Hey go back and look at those two fumbles would you have always would you overturn those if it was just a regular game and you had a job. And you didn't have to worry about impressing anyone. I guarantee he probably would have said what a fair caught build of them. I would've just fair caught on. We've got in our possession but instead he's trying to make a play and he takes his out of the ball he fumbles that we know the story but i think matthew saxton although he's talented it just it was an ugly look and we knew it was coming and he ends up getting cut on saturday. When the steelers cut nine players so matthew sexton was a loser for that night. I understand why he did what he did..

"He is a playmaker is the definition of a playmaker. I said this in the post game show. I'll repeat it here. Every time he touches the football you get the feeling like something exciting is going to happen. He is a player. They can make a two yard gain. Make you sit up in your seat because we my break. You might go the distance. That's the type of player. Nause hair is. The steelers have not had this type of player. Probably since lady on bell played and he's different than lady on bell they are similar in style. they're similar family know about style. Let me let me take that back. They're similar in size. They are similar with speed. But they are not necessarily when you think about a stylistic approach not necessarily the same nagae harris is not the route runner. The bell was he has good hands. He can definitely work in space. I feel like najji. Harris is a better runner in between the tackles. He's tougher to bring down than bell. Bell was at patient. Wait wait wait find your whole go But still nausea harris He's gonna be his own player. He's not trying to be compared to lady on bell and he looks like a playmaker and that's what the steelers needed at the running back position nothing against james connor or anyone else. That's what they needed. At the running back position the next winner might cause some people some pause okay. My caused them some pause in. That's another quarterback thirteen of eighteen one hundred thirty eight yards seven point seven yard average no touchdowns no interceptions was not sacked ninety four point two rating. That's none other than mason rudolph. I've put mason rudolph from the winners list because outside of one throw the one throw. That should have been intercepted and if he would have been intercepted he would not have been on the winners list. but it wasn't so mason. Rudolph had one bad throw. I thought that he he played a lot. They gave him every opportunity. And i thought he looked very calm. Poised composed in the pocket. It was really good to see mason. Rudolph look the part. We'll put it. That way is good to see him. Look the part mason. Rudolph is the type of guy that you just don't know what you're going to get but throughout this preseason. I have noticed that you're going to get. There is a standard with mason rudolph. Sadly that standard right now is not scoring touchdowns but moving the ball he has been able to do and typically. He's playing against the opposition's best players now. Maybe maybe not saturday night. Because ben roethlisberger did play three drives but still. He's getting a good look from a good defense. And that's something. Dwayne haskins can't say no fault of his own but that's not something doing haskins can say so for me. I have mason rudolph on the winters list. I'd love to see him get in the end zone and finish these drives but he said after the game. I agree with them. Hopefully the coaching staff is able to evaluate the tape. Outside of the way that the drives end. I think he's looking good. I think he has solidified the quarterback to position with the steelers. So i have mason. Rudolph rough on the winters. Let's a lot of people will do would disagree and that's fine. You have every right to have your own opinions about the stuff in the last. Winter is the offensive line throughout the entire game. Four quarters all the backup some reserves playing only one sack surrendered that was to duane haskins. They had three hundred the not the offensive line but they helped create three hundred and twenty three yards passing. Seventy eight yards rushing in twenty. I have it was a great low from the offensive line There were some issues. It was not perfect. But i think the offensive line played well enough both in pass protection and and run blocking the day deserve to be mentioned on the winners list. Let's go down to the losers and again just like with mason rudolph being on the winners less. Some people might have a big beef with me for putting this guy on the losers less. And it's eric. Hebron 'cause eric iran actually had a pretty good game receiving eric. Yvonne led the steelers in receiving four catches fifty nine yards. Fourteen point eight average with a twenty seven yard long on six targets. But here's the thing the one knock on this guy. All all season has been is ability to hold onto the football ben rothlisberger on that first drive so the first series that he's out there again szucs core four false starts. Now it's first and fifteen. I believe he completes a pass either. James washington deontay johnson. And it's a minimal gain of four three or four yards. They might gain a few on the next play on third down. Ben is i'm talkin. Vintage two thousand and eight ben. He scrambled left alludes pressure moves to his right throws has eric hebron brought him right between the eight and the five any drops it and he drops it and at one brutal drop and that's brutal to me. Is your opening series drive. If you catch the ball moves the chains too big play. Here we go. You're having some momentum instead the drop the field. The presley harvard in the team. Come on you have a quick exit. We have seen that way. Too many times under randy feet ner in in this case. It's on that candidates fault catch the football. Catch the ball. It seems like deontay. Johnson has gotten the drops out of his system. Eric hebron needs to do. But i really hope he gets it into his system or else pat. I kid might be seeing more snaps down. Only hear about eric hebron catching all those passes for mason rudolph against scrubs from the detroit lions. I don't wanna hear it. Catch the ball when it matters. That's my thing sorry about that. He's lose the next lose the fourth quarter defense. Why they gave up twenty points not to mention. I'm not going to put this on the defense. But i guess you can slide special teams and they're giving up an onside kick is bush league amongst all bush league things. You can do just horrible i. The penalties were bad. We'll get in the second but ultimately had the fourth quarter defense was atrocious leading detroit. Even coming thinking they can come back in. That game should never have happened in the last. Loser is shocker brown. I like shocker brown. I hope to occur brown stays. I hope that shakur round finds spot on special teams. 'cause he's really good there. He he is so fast. And such a dominant like gunner that he's causing holding penalties and things of that nature but he had two huge penalties in the fourth quarter that extended drives. And that just can't happen when you're talking about being successful. Football team to those are my three losers recap my winners were. Ben rothlisberger pat firearm youth. Najji harris mason rudolph and the offensive line. The losers eric hebron the fourth quarter defense and occur. Brown all right. I'm running out of time. But i'm going to try to get this in anyways so the other day. Brian davis posted a video. Actually i think it was sunday. Posted a video on our slack channel.

"Let's go right. Added with the mason rudolph at the quarterback position. He started the game. Eight for nine. Seventy seven yards eight point six average. He was sacked once for ten yards in a rating of one or two point. Three dwayne haskins comes in sixteen of twenty to one hundred and sixty one yards. Seven point three average one touchdown a rating of one eight point. Three joshua dobbs finishes up five of six thirty yards. Five yard average. He did throw interceptions. Pretty bad one rating of forty seven point nine the passing total twenty nine to thirty seven for two hundred and fifty eight yards one touchdown. One interception in one sack gentlemen quarterbacks. Let's talk about it service. you. Brian go ahead. I thought it was a pretty decent effort. From the quarterbacks i You know the one that one interception by joshua dobbs was was ugly but the guys. I was really looking at of course. Mason rudolph in wayne haskins and i thought they book showed up this week win. Haskins really needed to have a very good showing to not drop out of the conversation because last week was was not great for him and now dave did explain it that you know he was. He was going over the luxembourg. What the defense was getting them this week. He had more chances to throw downfield. He looked solid doing it. He did have that touchdown pass. He led them on a couple of of scoring drives so Very solid game from him. Dave and i were talking before the show on mason rudolph and thought he had a pretty good effort and what killed his drives was basically those

"False starts and and things like that. I think the defense one five two. That's not that's not what you want to have on your last day of reporting for practice leading into a preseason game. I'm i'm kind of look concerned now that it might be a little bit more sloppy in game two than what it wasn't gave one. You have a tendency to take those things for granted that you did them right the first time whenever someone says the word sloppy i think of the scene from billy madison when the lunch lady is giving them their sloppy ges michigan snappy lady. You're scaring us anyways. We're back and mark davis and put this in the live chat. I'll put it up here. I can't believe. I didn't realize i can't believe it in. Forget this holy cow joe. Flacco is on the eagles. Any there lasko. I totally forgot. Why go for flacco is in philly. Now that gives me something to watch see. Steelers beat joe flacco head and again go ahead. I need to correct you on that because in baltimore it was wacko. Fi flacco super this world living in maryland wacko five flacco shirts and like stop it wrong just goes to show the preseason that you don't really pay attention to your playing against it's really not at all but this is exciting. Now i get to watch joe. Flacco gets active bunch hopefully abundant. But i'm gonna go with expectations. That are different for me. I thought that the steelers in their situational football was weren't weren't that wasn't that great. I wanna see better third down on offense and defense especially defensively. I can't get that. Us's gilbert the third blown tackle on third and ten out of my head. I mean he played it perfectly catch underneath. Tackle the catch get off. The field misses the tackle. They get a first down to just cleaning up. Clean it up so we'll see Other than that. that's about as any other expectations. I mean obviously stay healthy. We know that But yeah mike tomlin was very happy. I only he's happy today. Either ben rothlisberger pretty ticked off today with the false starts and stuff like that so you know what. I do have another expectation. And it's simply like to see if haskins an dobbs could pass more because it seemed to win a lot of times with the pittsburgh steelers and under mike tomlin seems like in the second half. It's more of a runny. i mean it's completely at the of raw is what i'm saying. So you see whoever starts the game and the rumors are that it's mason rudolph starting the game again. If that's if that is confirmed incorrect mitalent said today in his press cop someone else asked him he said yes crack. Correct so with that you look at. I mean i want to see. I don't wanna see check down wayne. I want to see him. Throw the ball to see if he can throw the ball. I want to see more of more of Joshua dobbs throwing a football. I know he could run. I know what he can do. And i know wayne could check down but i wanna see what he can do. Throwing the football two receivers. So that's what i'd like to see. Let's see him with some receivers. Let's see him. Give him some gibney. Now after two. Drives and lead. Dwayne or josh will go in there and see what they have. Good dave. it's kind of but you gotta remember the other thing you want these quarter. I mean as much as that's what we want to see think about the punt returner. The punt returner. That wants to go out there and shows what he can do the kickoff returner and coach tomlin says he's like we need to trust it. When you need to make fair catch that you'll do it or if you're down it in the end zone. You're going to do it so the same thing with haskins if they were playing off of the receivers and just weren't going to let them do anything deep. He's got a show that he can read what the defense is doing and take what he should be doing. And if that's what it takes as long as moving the ball down the field and finishing drives that's what you gotta look for as well. Yeah all right. We'll take a quick break for those are two. If you're listening. Live on. Facebook or on insert facebook or youtube stay goanywhere. Stacey movie are back.

"Mike tomlin press conference recap podcast where he was talking about all things steelers as it relates to the team preparing for their second preseason game it's technically week one but it's their second preseason game against the philadelphia eagles at lincoln financial field in philadelphia this thursday night at seven thirty. Pm eastern time. Mike tomlin started off the press conference talking about the philadelphia. Eagles game not talking about the eagles but just talking about the the upcoming game. He said that he's looking for similar things in the second exhibition game as he was in the first exhibition game against the dallas cowboys in the hall of fame game. The only difference is he is kind of differentiating between these two types of players players that are getting their first opportunity. So maybe someone that's coming back from injury or maybe someone that didn't get a lot of playing time in that first game. He's looking for them to eliminate pre-snap injuries having penalty free games in dealing with motions and shifts especially on offense much better in those that have already had a game under their belt. He's looking for players to have an elevation in their play So we're talking about players like he's talking about essentially having awareness inequality about their play growth inconsistency more fluid in faster and he said it's just another this upcoming games just another first game scenario based on the fact that this is the first preseason game for the philadelphia eagles but again tomlin reiterated. He does not care who his team is going up against just that they are playing their brand of football the way that they want to play. He was asked about the quarterback situation. It's pretty obvious. Ben rothlisberger is not going to play. Although that mike tomlin did not state that clearly and he said that the pittsburgh steelers will mason rudolph starting the game for them on thursday followed by duane haskins and josh dobbs to finish up so the same exact rotation they had against the cowboys they asked about. The plan can their plan because he did say tomlin said they do have a hardcore plan when they go into games. They said ken then plan change. He said yes. In last week was a perfect example. They had planned for mason bereft to get two drives the second drive ended with the fumble when he and klay bulls exchange got botched. They lost the football is recovered by the cowboys. He then put mason murphy alpha a third drive. He did not want that to end the way it did for mason rudolph so the plan can change but that is the plan as of right now speaking of participation he did not give a clear list of who is in and who is out. I think it's safe to say the players that are veterans. Were talking cam hayward ben rothlisberger joe haden. They're probably not going to play in this game but he did say the final decisions have yet to be made. He's looking forward to some of these players that are returning that are on there as he put it quote road to recovery. We're talking about players. Like devin bush zach banner szucs core for even someone like pat farm me through miss. Last week's game with a shoulder injury should be back in the lineup Or i guess in his case rookie should be in the line for the first time as a professional he was asked about kevin dotson we all know about the news relating kevin dotson the offense of guard and he said that look. His focus is on those who are working. They asked about whether they liked his work as he starts to return back to the team and he said i'm not in charge of that. I got good reports about his work. A pleased with those reports. He's he's he's just getting back to work and that's where they left it. There was an update on james washington's injury. He has a lower body injury of some kind. He's a tomlin said. The update is he may miss a day or two but not expected to miss a lot of time so good news for james washington as it comes to his injury but he probably will miss this thursday night. Tj what he's situation is we know what that is by now. This fact tj wad is not going to be participating in team drills until they get a contract on. He was asked about that. Obviously as keith butler it's spill the beans on why what is not fully participating in practices and tomlin said that. What situation isn't unique. He brought up cam hayward participating fully a year ago until they got his contract done. He said that it has to run. Its course sometimes these things. Their courses run faster than others. He can't focus on that. He said i have to focus on guys who are working for whatever reason but he did go ahead and his is something. The tomlin has always done was hired in two thousand seven. He talked about how one man's misfortune can be an opportunity for someone else. In this case he brought up specifically that what being out has given them. Greater exposure to melvin ingram. He's the player. They signed before training camp outside. Linebacker played his whole career with the chargers now finds his way in pittsburgh on a one year contract and he said that ultimately ingram is a player that they have really gotten to know. Because of watts situation he was asked specifically about tj wadden. Would he be good enough to go if he didn't sign the deal until right before week one. He said he doesn't deal with hypotheticals. He's gonna take it day by day. But speaking of ingram tom on talked about ingram and he said that in a team meeting this morning he said they're coming after ingram today based on his run stopping z's run game bully and they're going to make sure that they make life tough for him. They're gonna throw tight ends over top of him they're gonna slide protections to him. He wants to see what he has left in the tank. He said there's no reservations because he was asked specifically about. Melvin ingram's health and was it a hesitation for the organization prior to them signing these. It there's no reservations about his health. That was done with the physical everything checked out. And he said that his flexibility or versatility to play both sides right and left outside. Linebacker is just. It's huge for the steelers. Not only in the fact that if someone gets hurt whether ties smith or what he can fill in on either side but also he said if we want to utilize tj watt in a different way. The fact that ingram can play. Both sides is a huge advantage for the steelers. He was asked specifically about the front seven last week. Going going back to the dallas game..

"So i think there really is a competition out whether or not it's for the qb to spot or qb three eight. I think that's Remains to be seen. The thing that gets me. I'm i was excited to see what dwayne haskins could do. He loves cautious with the football. Put it that way. He did not want to take the risk. You could see a couple of times. He was looking down the field down the middle of the field. And you just don't wanna make that bad play and put yourself in a hole in this competition. I get it but at some point and this is just my. This is always been my thing and you go back to eighteen. Landry jones will play some in then he would rotate between rudolph and dobbs as to. Who would get in next. I wanna see dwayne haskins. Actually get a look with some of those better players mason. Rudolph was throwing passes to deontay johnson. James washington although he didn't connect chase capable and then when dwayne haskins gets into the game. Who's the throwing passes to matthew sexton. Kevin raider and i don't know rigo was bussey bussey forever. It's it's not the same not dimension. The offensive line is different. If this is a genuine competition in my opinion you're gonna see tomlin. Say do what i just said. In that is we need to give haskins and opportunity to show what he can do with better players. The question i have for you necks is would it look any different. In your opinion if haskins did get a chance better players obviously. I think it would Having those more talented guys if you chase played pool field there's only so many six four four four forty guys in the nfl. So that's going to help I think as the weeks go on. We're gonna see exactly what you did say. The quarterbacks kind of switching up the rotation while kind of the depth pieces are around them kind of stay the same. I in terms of rotation just a quarterback position will be different so i think we will see these guys Kind of rotating around seeing seeing if they work with the top guys better. And what have you whether or not. They might struggle against the better corners. Of course that will see When games kick but as we get deeper in the preseason haired like guys like juju. Smith schuster should get some playing time. Hopefully pat farm us than eric. Hebron get healthy so there will be more opportunities to be throwing these better pass catcher but with it comes the better better. Secondary's better defenses So to a degree it does matter but on the same coin. They are playing against worst defensive players But as long as they still get those opportunities to try to play with a number of different guys. I think that's where the really the root of the competition comes down to so hopefully haskins gets a couple snaps with the ones and hopefully he gets them as early as next week. Yeah now you're on twitter as much as i am during games steelers. Twitter was a buzz. is the hot acri was just boy was thriving. And you know. I'm used to the we. The steelers should trade. Benny smell to the rams for i pig like that would ever happen anyway. There was a government housing. I'm as michael about this. Someone said on twitter. This is all based off of kevin. Raiders pancake walk. On the on the balaj touchdown what if they kept raider gentry infirm youth in cut hebron traded hebron and as a wow. I'm gonna ask michael about that. What do you think about that heartache. You know what that is interesting because it did pop into my mind for a second bud fit the system. Way better like eric. Hebron is not a blocker. and that's what this system thrives on they never made any sense when they signed To begin with except for the fact that he came way cheaper than anyone expected the problem is they added all those void years to his deal. This offseason i think that might throw a wrench in things. I'm not sure if they cut them all sudden all this money comes back onto the books this year or how that works. So i i think contractually. That's a bit of a bit of a hurdle. They'd have to jump eric ronnie. He's really just a big wide receiver. we saw him struggle so much trying to block last year. And all these reports coming out that zach drink gentry's been one of the best tight ends in camp especially when it comes to blocking kevin rader putting guys on their butts pat firm youth catching everything and then holding in all these drills. of course. he's out injured today. But still those three guys are probably fifty offense better. So if that's the the group steelers go with. I wouldn't be surprised by it but there might be some financial repercussions on this year. If they gave eric ronnie acts so hopefully they find figure out a way to train them. I i don't. I don't really know if there's any value there either but the fit is just never really made much sense since day one. Yeah that was just one of those weird things. well actually. That doesn't that doesn't there's onto crazy. That's not any snow for a first job. Picks but Okay the next time we talk actually after the next game. The eagles game. What do you want to see. This is the last topic for alleged. Go what did you want to see the steelers improve upon. And let's assume that. Ben rothlisberger is still not going to play in that week. One preseason game. I figure he's not gonna play until the week to which is the third game for the steelers but if he's going to play what do you want to see improve in any way shape or form for the steelers next week when they go to philly. Oh that's a good question. I think offensively. I wanna see them. Try to establish the run a little bit more. I think they're pretty successful at it today. But nothing. Really kind of eye-popping. They're able to turn the trains over but some bigger plays. That would be nice so that would be more double team blocking getting off to the second level in allowing the running backs to hit the secondary before they get touched. That would be huge especially if they're able to kind of get on that sort of chemistry level before we even get to week one. Dowd be really nice defensively. I think the big one is just the defensive backs covering better They got burned a ton of times as well as the inside linebackers with the old problem of being out on slots running backs just getting picked apart. I'm very worried about spelling yuji three. I'm almost at the point. Where were i'm thinking to myself. Could buddy johnson be the starter in week on because he was the other linebacker. That jazz tabasco. Hopefully those problems can end. When devon bush hits a field. But i wanna see those those second level players on the defense cover a little bit better. That is really the key to the end of this. Preseason and obviously Once the regular season they better have that ironed out. absolutely well. michael mr captain. Blue check mark. I thank you very much for your time. Hope enjoy your weekend..

"Wherever he goes to college game. There was a feeling that this is it. You know, he can't make all the throws anymore. I shouldn't say that he You know, he's He's not gonna make like off platform off balance throws. He has some certain limitations to his game He didn't have before on, so it's gonna happen. It's gotta happen now and then, Finally, the Browns and the Steelers tomorrow night, the Browns finally got an opportunity to practice on Friday. Am I know what we saw in the second half when you needed to see it from the Steelers. Am very down on that situation right now. This time the Steelers. I don't know that they're a team that can all of a sudden flip the switch and be right back on it. Even When they won their 1st 11 games. There were times they looked exceptionally vulnerable. And lately that has really been the case. Yeah, I think if their core they're probably think you're right, they're probably a fringe playoff team. You know, they're good enough. And they if they made a run, it wouldn't surprise you, Uh, And there's still a lot of pedigree. That defense is gonna keep him in every game. So you have that as a foundation. So if Rob this burger can go, say two of five on passes, 30 yards or deeper? They have a chance to win. You know if you saw it with that Browns game, even with Mason Rudolph they got a little bit of life because he could throw the deep ball and then just doesn't have that this year, so you can't just rely on that 5 10 yard throws all game. We're gonna have to mix it up. But we're playing a brown stain that's coming off a covert list situation where you had 9 10 guys out your head coaches out, several assistants are out. Had one practice. Maybe they can rally behind that little bit. Have fun with it, But I don't think so. Seen it before. It seemed not with the Browns. But you've seen teams rally before. I just don't think that's gonna be a very, very interesting game. But it's been a lot of fun. Really enjoyed it. Jeremy, Thanks for being with us tonight. Hey, there's a lot of fun, Chris. Thanks again, man. Absolutely our special thanks to Spencer Ray. Chris and Kodiak as Marilda Gonzales and Troy Farkas. It has been just that a super wild card weekend so far. "The cleveland browns. Two thousand two. The last time this franchise was in the playoffs but they beat the steelers yesterday's and they get in and dan. They started out running the football with nick. Chubb that power. Run game with nick chubb. You see that offensive line. Kind of changing. Denting the line of scrimmage and then chubs depth pig playmaking physical and not between the tackles but also got big enough speed and baker. Getting don is looking for tight. End up ten nine on first and goal in the third quarter this afternoon. Yeah the fact that they went back to this he missed it in the same play gets his is. Backside finds often prefer touchdown. No ben in this game mason rudolph way had some good moments. And then he had this one really good blitz packet by the browns defensive drop myles garrett into and then that safety to sit there like all right. Don't leave the ball mason. Rudolph shoots turner for this defense. Need mental switched sides on the field because it went to the fourth quarter and then it went to jarvis landry and the browns were up twenty four to nine not love this play. Call you kind of get. Landry sideline to sideline and you handed off for the touchdown. And then finally you get the ball out of pittsburgh's defense something that chase claypool done. So well look at his ability. Go up kind of contest for that. Catch over jumped. The fence and back touchdown pitchford. That made it twenty four sixteen and then under two minutes to go in the game and this is juju smith schuster and all of a sudden. It's twenty four twenty two dan. How about the two point conversion you gotta make sure at some point. This guy's got the opportunity to go high point of all scrambled around. Give them a chance to go get his hands on that. Football fewer still had chances stephen. Carlson somehow manages to come up with this on side kick. he's eighty nine cleveland. There for a moment there was kind of between the wickets. If you know what i mean. But he manages to hang onto it. And then dan baker mayfield runs with the first down the isis. The player not love the play call by defense came look at the emotion from baker mayfield. You don't kind of representing that city. Just look how much it means to him to finally get that done in cleveland. Good for him good for them. The browns are in the playoffs. The afc wild card round will kick off saturday.

"About, but it's the Steelers they have finished the season. 15 times against the Steelers since they were reincarnated in 1999 there, one in 14. They've lost 14 in a row. They've lost 10 straight season finale seven in a row at home to Pittsburgh. This is an organizational thing. The Steelers Air 36 7 and one against Cleveland since 2.0 Brown started in 1999. Is that in the back of their minds if you're the Cleveland Browns, you know it's hard to say because, you know, like the plug the player and me the coaching me They got spent my whole life on the field. Those things really didn't matter. But at the same time for some reason, it does have an effect. We watch the Steelers last week play the Colts, who were who were terrible in Pittsburgh, and the Colts beat them for most of that game. "They may not be like Pittsburgh tomorrow. 10 point underdogs. At Cleveland isn't playing Mason Rudolph. I'll take the Browns minus 10 tomorrow, certainly to win that game they needed. Baltimore Cincinnati. Baltimore is a 14 point home favorite. They need the game to get in the playoffs. They win in they're in Cincinnati. What are they playing for? I'll take Baltimore 14 points a lot of points. I'll take Baltimore all day Long Kansas City at home for a half point underdogs because they're resting guys born half point underdogs. The charges come in. Minus 4.5 2 tough game I'll take the chief's chiefs are still good team still well coached team at home. I'll take the chief Plus 4.5 tomorrow 90 Day 20 and I'm from Philly and I'm one W ipe. We're trading the V I P in Philly. The Eagles aren't aren't planning to use a lot of their starters tonight. In fact, a lot of their starters have already been ruled out for the game. Washington is now a 3.5 point favorite. Um If general hurts isn't playing the full game, which he may not be. It just depends. Um, this is this is a tough game. I would take Washington just because they went in there in But we'll see if they're gonna let Hertz play the whole game. That's a 3.5 point Spread. Buffalo, Miami both those the two point favorite there at home. We talked to Sal Carpaccio earlier from Buffalo. He says that he thinks they're gonna rest some guys. I'll still take Buffalo minus two. Houston, Tennessee. Tennessee needs this game. They need this game. The win and they're in Houston's been playing well of late. I think it's a closer game than people think. Tennessee minus 7.5. I'll take Houston and the points Houston Plus 7.5 and then Carolina and and the Saints. The Saints need this, and they need a Green Bay loss. Tonto, Get home field. And Carolina is just trying to Trying to finish out the season on a high note. Um, you know, be very interesting to see what Saints team shows up. Still a good team. But again, I'm just not a big Drew Brees guy at this point in his career after there's broken ribs. I'll take Carolina plus six San Francisco hosting Seattle. Seattle is a seven point road favorite. San Francisco has played very well when they want to play well, they'll look like they could be a potential playoff team. And then the next week they'll look bad. I think this week they keep it close. I'll take San Francisco. Plus seven points. Tampa Bay A 6.5 point favorite over Atlanta and Atlanta. Listen. Atlanta showed up last week and they took the they took him down to the wire. They took The Kansas City Chiefs down the wire. Tampa Bay will be looking for playoff positioning, and I'll take a minus. 6.5. Minnesota Detroit This game doesn't matter. I'll take Minnesota minus four on the road, New England against the Jets. This Connor, This is the toilet bowl right here. The wing going against the Jets. Your New York Jets, the Patriots are only three point home favorites. Adam Gates, according to reports will not be back. Not that you needed to be Adam Schefter to figure that out. But according to reports out recently, Adam Gates will not be back after tomorrow's game. I'll take the Patriots minus three. And then the games that matter, Dallas the Giants, the winner of this team will wait to see who wins the Eagles. Washington football team game. Dallas minus one on the road feels like they're trending in one direction, and the Giants are trending in the other direction. I'll take I'll take the Cowboys minus one in New York Green Bay in Chicago. Chicago needs this to get in, but green. They also needs this game to clinch home field. And for 25 tomorrow, minus four. I'll take Green Bay. I'll take Aaron Rodgers. I know. I know that the Bears needed to get in. But Green Bay also needs this game as well. I'll take Green Bay. Minus for indie. Jacksonville 14 point Underdog for Jacksonville. Indianapolis needs this game. Indianapolis could have 11 wins and be out so they need win and they need help. They're going to get a win. They're going to do it in a big way. I'll take Indianapolis minus 14. Oakland, Denver opens a 2.5 point Road favorite. I'll take him in that game, Oakland over Denver and not even Oakland. It's Las Vegas. The site doesn't have a change ship and the Rams in Arizona. This is the big This is one of the biggest games Is Arizona needs it to get in. Went in there in Ram's, they could be in I do not like the way that Arizona's been playing down the stretch. The Rams have been hot and cold. But the Rams are also starting a quarterback that last played in the CFL. No NFL experience. It's a tough one. Would take Arizona just because they have the better quarterback. But the Rams defense is for real. And Colin Murray hasn't been the same player since he was getting mentions for MVPs here a couple weeks ago, so that's tomorrow. It's gonna be Could be a lot of fun. Always good to get to get weak, 17 some games that matter. And then after that, the playoffs start Look for me on Sundays from 12 to 2 here in the month of January, So after DHS football show, you can catch me My name is John Marks. John marks. Media. "Vince Quinn in for J. R. And this is the love shack tonight. Um So Speaking of something very lovey. Let's talk about Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph Shelley because here's a fun little element that's been added to the game. It turns out that Myles Garrett. Is going to be Cleveland's team captain. He's going to go out to midfield. You will be a part of the coin toss. For the game this weekend against the Steelers. So, of course Myles Garrett, representing the Browns as they go against Mason Fruit off it's just It's hysterical, and it's one of those things you love to see. And for a couple of reasons, I mean one. It's a great move Beiste of fancy. Apparently, the background of this was basically The fans get had conversations with Myles Garrett earlier in the year. Gary thought he might be the guy that was gonna be the team captain in a game against Dallas. That didn't happen, so they asked him what game he would want. He had picked this game week. 17. They thought they'd be competitive anyway. And so is the fans. He goes. Yeah, let's go. We'll give you that game, and he wanted to trust his guy and let him be a face of the team and a big moment. And now you get this hilarious coincidence to go with it as he's just supporting his Young leader on the franchise that he's representing the TV this game against my Mason Rudolph, which obviously the whole relationship is hilarious because Miles Garrett And for some people I had to just blow steam about nobody caring about offensive lineman and how that bothers me. I Myles Garrett is most notably known. Recently. For ripping the helmet off of Mason Rudolph's head and trying to beat him with it. So That's his reputation right now. But here's the thing. Miles Garrett as much is that something that's really stuck with him, and I'll admit that I've talked about it A good deal. The guy's an amazing player. Let's not forget how good of a player Myles Garrett is and for what he represents. It's not just the face of the Cleveland Browns as a guy that's a number one overall pick. That has lived up to the hype and the expectation, but he's becoming a face of the league. I mean, if we're talking about this guy, by the way, hard knocks notable personality on hard knocks, writing poetry and stuff. He's just an interesting dude. So you've got this really fascinating young guy with the status of the number one overall pick got this ugly incident attached to him, But he's a Walter Payton, man of the year if he's somebody that represents the turnaround of the Cleveland Browns. You're gonna be hearing a lot about Myles Garrett. So little things like this, giving him a spotlight in a game that matters immense live. This has to be one of the most important games of the Cleveland Browns have had since they returned as a franchise like this game is a huge deal. And so for Garrett tol that little nod there. It's a nice thing for the Browns for the league for Garrett. I just love seeing that move. So anyway, a 55 to 1 to 4 to 27. That's how he joined the show. Go to Dave in Florida. Dave, what's going on? Hey, what's happening, bro? Thanks for taking my call. Yeah, I'm old school, So I just wanna I just wanna take you back to a day when the hogs because I'm listening to you Talk about your offensive linemen Don't really get no love anymore. The hogs back in the day with we have big Joe Jacoby. We had Russ Grimm. We had Jeff Boston. We have Raleigh McKenzie. We had George Stark. And they put all offensive lineman on the map back in the day, and everybody should love so I'm just gonna hang up and let you talk about that. Because that was days I grew up there. Yeah, we were the hog. But, Dave, I appreciate it. But That was the eighties. That's what point that's like, I'm glad because I remember like, I'm not gonna say I remember Rusk Rim, but I've heard a lot about Russ Grimm over the years because he was a part of the hogs. This iconic group of linemen, but How many iconic groups of linemen are there? How many exists for all of these great offenses that we've labeled over the years, right? Like how many times we've been like, Oh, this elite unit of offensive linemen that was so good that everybody knew about them and they had a nickname. It doesn't happen. Their offensive lineman. People just aren't interested. Unless you're holding the football and actually scoring touchdowns or getting sacks. Nobody cares. It's just Oh, these guys didn't blow the game. That's why you'll never see because here's the thing I feel for offensive linemen, because think about the work that you have to do. You're doing a job that is the most physical job in the most physical sport. You have to fight people. Every single down with major consequences If you get beat, your quarterback is going to get killed. If you're the guy that leads to your quarterback getting killed. Nobody is going to like you. Right, right. That is a bad spot to be. If you don't get rewarded much you don't get praised much. It's mostly negativity. So I feel for those guys to see a guy like David Bachtiar e. Go down for the year, and everyone just kind of shrugs at it. It's like that's sad man. It's It's a sad state of things for the sport. When you've got a guy that's this high profile, and people just don't seem to really be interested. I don't know how many people know who he is. Before I said the name David Bachtiar and explain that he's with the Packers. Did you know about him? Do you know what position he played? You know what I mean? Like it. Just it kills me. It kills anyway, Let's e gotta end that right, Let's go to Ah, Let's go to Gary in Jacksonville. Gary, you're on the air. What's up? Happy New Year event. I think my daughter's in the perfect season. The early seventies, they had three that went to the hall saying that Jim Langer, Larry Little Bob Kuechenberg horse numbers. Mm. I like my dad. Just like tents. I'm just convinced that last week that miracle comeback against the laters Bess isn't like all about who's gonna have a huge day. Sunday and Uh, with quarterbacks probably go wanted to shoot him and get the suspect himself from Devante Smith. Yeah, on Gary, your phone's cutting out. I'm sorry, man..

"Everybody here, Um, was the quarterback that third overall instead of Jeffrey Cooter to choose, Um, but he's out now on dit Looks like you know, that puts Miami their planes the Steelers, but I'm a little bit honestly afraid or fearful. With the Browns. You know, it looked like they were a lock and everybody knows they were my team this year. I love what Baker Mayfield is done. But you know, coming in the last game of the game of the season, and the covert really has affected A lot of teams to come down to the end. And it still makes it an interesting weekend of football, though, but no, I'm with you. Who do you see? As a team on the outside looking in you. Do you think it's Miami? They come up short. Yeah. You know what, Mac? To me? That's the coolest thing about like this weekend is is I mean, there's gonna be a really good team sitting at home this year. And it sucks for them. But, you know, don't tell me that this week doesn't mean anything. You know what I mean? There's there's going to be there's gonna be a really good team sitting at home, and that's what really stinks. I mean, you're talking about Mac. The chance of In 11 win team in the A F. C sitting at home. I mean, that's that's crazy when you think about it, right. So you know what? I've got my eye. I've got my doubts about. You know what's going on with the Rams in particular that you know the quarterback situation is incredible. I'm not gonna dog your browns. I'm just not, you know, Have I had some concerns about them during the course of the Earth? Yeah, I have. But they're 10 and five and they're paying. You know they're they're taking on the Mason Rudolph lead Steelers. So you know, I kind of like the brownies. Chances there. You know, the Steelers have been faltering, but they kind of found their mojo again last week against Indianapolis and get got a much needed win. But Um to me, Mac usually week. 17 is such a male in with this extra playoff this year. It's just isn't and that's what kinda has me jacked up for this weekend and how it might transpire. Well, it's you know, shot. It's like you said that. And you know what it is about the Browns is because it Z this bit of lions. That should be us. We should be that team that we should be worried about talking tonight. About tomorrow..

"77 5791125 and 807 7 100 to 5. Yeah, Mason Rudolph says 1% falls. I'm sorry. 1000% falls. Boldface lie I did not and have not and would not own other racial slur. D just let it go there. Do you fight back? Can you look at film and see if anything was said. I've watched the film over and over the NFL's watch the film a budge, they said. There's no evidence of anything being said. You would think someone else would have heard it. They weren't the only two players around. Yeah, And I also think that, um It doesn't matter if you want to go and fight it in court, and I think it ultimately becomes for your own personal pride. Because the story was he called him the n word the people that believe that to be true. Probably aren't gonna change their mind. And if a court found him innocent, I don't think that changes anybody's mind either. The public of the Court of Public opinion has already made their decisions and you suing him and possibly winning. I don't think we'll change anything. So it goes to court and then Year, two years down the road. There's a blurb in a newspaper that says, Oh, Mason Rudolph won a lawsuit. It's not going to do anything for his public image. That's a good point, and they're not gonna be able to prove it anyway. So it's gonna be one dude's word against another dude's word. And who do you choose to believe? Right now? What is the justice that he wants for it right? I don't know who to believe. Myles Garrett seems very sincere and very contrite about what he did, but at the same time doubling down and saying, Yeah, this guy called me V n. Word said he called me the n word That's hard to believe that a quarterback in the NFL Is the NFL's What? 70% African American. I believe. It's really tough to believe that a white quarterback is going to utter the n word out there. I'll tell you, who is not happy is is Mike Tomlin because he's pretty much going on a media tour and he's He's upset Nazi Pittsburgh Steelers coach. Yeah, I got a little bit if you want it. Oh, yeah, please. I took offense to it to be quite honest with you when it first transpired during the season. We don't have a lot of time to pause and fight battles of that nature. We said our piece we were completely cooperative with all parties involved. The Cleveland Brown organization and the National Football League office, and then we had to move on way had another game await nous and when we're to be singularly focused, But when these allegations returned this past weekend, I thought was appropriate that Mason is properly defended. It wasn't thorough investigation done by us in the National Football League. I don't think that that was represented during that piece. Um these accusations are serious, not only in terms of Mesa, Rudolph's character, but his professional pursuits nobody on that feel a zoo member of the Cleveland Browns or the Pittsburgh Steelers corroborated what was said by Mao's guarantee that was founded by US in the National Football League. Strong words very strong, Very strong. I mean, you know he's not gonna He's probably gonna make sure everything's covered before he gets out. Makes such a passionate statement in defense of his player. By the way, it's okay. Not okay. Presented today by Commute Tampa Bay. If you're tired of that dreaded Tampa Eric every single day commute. Tampa Bay makes it easy to find a van pool or a carpool. Improve your commute at commute Tampa bay dot com. I'll tell you more about them and moments. Brad. What's up, Okay or not Okay to sue if you're being called a racist I think it's okay to sleep. But I think I think Garrett is almost forced to lie about this because what he did with that helmet is one of the worst things I've ever seen in a football game. He could have murdered him easily. Sin, and it's just so weird because, like he needs a way to justify the rage that he showed, But but from the vibe that I got He doesn't strike me as a guy who would do that unless there was an extreme reason for it. And that might be the white quarterback saying the n word, You know, I think when the adrenaline's pumping, you're going to do crazy things sometimes, and he knows that swinging that helmet. It's so bad that if he doesn't come up with some kind of reason to justify it, other teams and coaches and his future, his career are going to question if they can trust this guy to have him on their team. He's got to say something crazy to justice by that, because it's not just football, but all sports one of the worst things I've ever seen. Yeah, it visually. It's so it's just shocking to see a player picking up his helmet and going after a quarterback with it. Adrenaline is one thing, but like do you He does. I don't know. What the hell do we know about him? But he just doesn't look like the kind of guy doesn't come off as a kind of guy Who's going to chase a quarterback down with the helmet for no reason. And I mean, this is this isn't just some guy maybe you know will be Signed or not signed here. This is an all pro player. This is a guy who is really good and has a really good reputation around the league. This isn't a repeat offenses type situation. So, um You have to ask yourself. What the hell happened? 7275791125 and 807 71 wanted to five. You really do because he lost it. I mean, he absolutely lost it on the quarterback. And does a guy do that if he's if he's not called the n word. Scott. What's up? Welcome to grab alive. Hey, Thanks for having me guys. I'm gonna say it's not okay. Uh, sue anybody for Words, you know whether it's Myles Garrett suing for somebody saying the N word or it's Mason Rudolph soon for somebody saying he's a racist, you know, but then today is just where it sticks and stones, right. But then Johnson and I wanted to also say, I'm pretty sure if the helmet has a green dot on the back of it. It has a radio to the play calling box upstairs. I believe it's a one way radio. And this is this article that someone just sent me taking a closer look at Miles Garrett's explanation of the Mason route off incident. Goes into detail that he said. Um most quarterbacks where Mike's in their helmets, Garrett said, ignoring the fact that quarterbacks where speakers not microphones in their helmet. So I think it is. Think the middle linebacker on defense can too. I think you have Ah, play caller on both sides of the ball there. Um, but, yeah, I think it's a one way I think you're right there to the thank you. What do you think about public? Some not okay to anybody for the words that come out of your mouth Got you thinking. 77 5791125 and 807 71125 to grovel live below. What's going on, guys? You tell me, sir. Who are you? My name is Ken. Pleasure to speak with you Can we were unpacking the mess in Rudolph versus Myles Garrett situation. Myles Garrett: The Interview, Response, and Fallout

"Last Thursday. I sat down with Browns Defensive End myles Garrett in Los Angeles one day after he was reinstated into the NFL. The interview which aired on outside. The lines was Garrett's first media parents since he was suspended by the League for swinging a helmet at steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph Rudolph initially declined to comment but after reaffirmed his claim that the quarterback called him a racial slur. Rudolph replied on twitter calling the accusation. One thousand percent false and a bold faced lie today more from our interview with Garrett including new details on who he says he told about his allegation that fateful night then Adam schefter joins the show to discuss the steelers response. And what this means for both players going forward. I mean a crime. It's Monday February Seventeenth. This is ESPN daily presented by. Adt Back to November fourteenth. You guys were up. Twenty one zero seven just seconds left in the game even suited for the first time and how long and that gets marred by idiotic play by me and a couple other guys on both teams. And there's a brawl going down inside the ten yard line and getting in there was myles Garrett and took the helmet off of Mason Rudolph along it and that David Decastro and Marquees pouncey came in and they started really laying in so it was myles. Garrett took the helmet off of Mason Rudolph and slammed him on the top of my head dunk. Oh boy miles. We're going to get one too. That'd be suspended. Oh my goodness wow luxury what happened. I mean come off the edge by ten years less than fifteen seconds. I remember that I didn't want to be on the field but now sits out there and They were throwing that ball cells going to make a play so he started the ball. He's always wanted to throw. I'm going no the administrators on. I'm not trying to do anything illegal. I should go to take them down. He says some worry that we're going down. And he ends up on top of me and he goes to twist my helmet off. So I ended up getting leveraging topping him. I grabbed his helmet and I'll start shaking them. Push them off me and I was shaking him. His helmet comes off and is now one of his offense lineman grass and I think the Castro and he's talking to me. Tell me it's cool. Notice let it go. No Senate game. It's all good. And as he's known walking me away on my left side base incomes. Run again now. He's yelling he's already kicked me to China. Twist my helmet off and made a mistake to defend myself but Day because it's left a situation entirely. There's no need for that. No no for that at all. Wow you're you're up by twenty one to seven and video that we were watching of myles Garrett taking the helmet off brutal peniche slamming him. Which pretty bad you've just described in great detail. It sounds like something you've thought about a lot a lot of time thinking about it now. Time thing about that reaction what my response should have been. 'cause I should've have and I usually have in that situation. Just wasn't there and not just reflect the myself and allowing myself to never know being the situation but if I am to to handle it better. What did he say to you? Call me the N. Word Kami a stupid and we're I don't like I don't say the N. word whether it's not a he are to me personally just shouldn't be said and whether it's known by family friends anyone and I don't WanNa use it because I don't want to find the appropriate around me for anyone to use. So when he said it kind of sparks something but I still tried to let it go still walk away once he came back. Kinda Kinda reignited this situation and now only have you know escalate things. No Pass what it needs to be no with a little time in the game left. Now you're now you're trying to know reengaged and start a fight again and no. It's definitely not entirely his fault. Stephanie both parties. Doing something that you shouldn't have been doing so. He denied that he said what you're alleging. And then after your initial appeal leaked out and you said I wish this didn't get out at all. My was because I didn't want to try to use it as justification for my actions because there is nothing to justify like there's there's nothing I can say or do to justify what I did on that day. I'm not saying there's no to justify than I didn't do anything wrong and I know what I know what happened. I know what I heard. People say things when they're heated aren't the full of emotion. I leave it on the feel.

Here so he says that during that melee back in November that Mason. Rudolph used a racial slur and here is a portion of that interview with me crimes and Myles Garrett I mean come off the edge. Myles Garrett's Appeal

"Is additional information on me myles Garrett Mason Rudolph incident that occurred last Thursday and Thursday night football and Josefina. I'll ask you right now just to add what we learned today. Yeah sources telling me and Adam Schefter that myles Garrett made as part of his defense during the appeal hearing yesterday Per what he included in his defense that Mason Rudolph allegedly used a racial slur during the incident. Thursday night. Football as we're watching right here last last week and that he wanted to have this as part of the context as far as what her you know what happened and and that it created a argumentative exchange range during the appeal myles. Garrett had an opportunity to speak at the beginning of the appeal and also at the end. It's also my understanding that hearing officer James Thrash asked him if T- were to have something like this happen again. How we handle it differently? Hypothetically and Mas Garrett said that he wouldn't want this to escalate in this way and given the opportunity he would have tried to walk away. So we're still waiting for the decision for James Strache into basically figure out how this impacts if at all you know the decision from the hearing hearing officer with regards to the length of the suspension which right now is at an indefinite link. Good thank you for adding not myles. Garrett has been suspended indefinitely at the very least the rest of this regular regular Susan. Here is the response of the Pittsburgh steelers mason that is of course. Mason Rudolph vehemently denies the report of being accused of using a racial slur during the incident. Thursday night in Cleveland. St They're spokesman Bert Lawton said on Thursday. He will not discuss this accusation any further and his focus remains on preparation for Sunday's game game against the bengals. We're joined now by Adam schefter again Josefina and Adam reporting this story and Adam again additional information the accusation and the use of a racial slur. Well Wendy let me read to you. If you don't mind a statement that just came in moments ago from Mason Rudolph Attorney Timothy Younger because I feel like this is an important part of the story to get out there right now I'm just calling it up right now. We're getting into this as it's breaking here basically basically he says according to ESPN is appeal. myles Garrett myles Garrett falsely asserted that Mason Rudolph utter a racial slur towards him prior to swing a helmet of Mason's uncovered head in a desperate attempt to mitigate a suspension. This is a lie. This false allegation was never asserted by Garrett in the aftermath method game never suggested prior to the hearing and conspicuously absent in the apology published by the browns and adopted by Garrett then malicious use of this wild and unfounded unfounded. Allegation is an assault on Mason's integrity which is far worse than the physical assault witnessed on Thursday. This is reckless shameful. We will have no further comment that is from Timothy Younger. The attorney for Mason Rudolph when he heard of the allegations here this afternoon. Now the Pittsburgh steelers are out on the practice practice field as we speak and Mason Rudolph was scheduled to speak to the media following the practice session. We'll see whether or not he still does. But obviously we've you've got two versions of the events that have now unfolded at the. NFL appeal for myles Garrett indefinite suspension. We've got myles Garrett alleging that Mason Rudolph said something to him a racial slur that preceded that fight on Thursday night and we have Mason Rudolph strongly deny at least as attorney strongly strongly denying it and ruby up to the NFL to sort through this to determine what is real and what is not Adam Schefter. Thank you again to your point. The steelers have also released a statement saying that Mason denies any use of a racial slur. He did addressed media yesterday. Adam report he would have spoken again today. It appears unlikely. But here is what Mason Rudolph said yesterday definitely didn't say anything escalated it but like I said I do a better job. Keep my composure. And those situations uh-huh unfortunate situation for teams love again. The Information Shen this after noon is that during his defenses appellate hearing myles Garrett alleging Mason Rudolph used a racial slur that precipitated. What happened in that incident Thursday night? Let me just ask it. Simply if that is the case does it change in your mind anything that transpired after the fact no I still think regardless of what was said to you or regardless of you know what said racial slur was said. You still have to conduct yourself in a way that is conducive to others. Yes and not swinging a helmet isn't the way you combat that right swinging a helmet in the heat of the battle isn't the way you combat someone giving you a racial slur in that moment now how I can see where he would take it to that measure. I can understand that but this is the right thing to do. No so it's unfortunate. Obviously that that you know were here at this point in this in in this whole scenario are feels like it's just dragging on and on and on now But if there's racial so did occur. It's tough because there's one wins word against another. There's nobody else that's confirming coming. This is just someone saying it and it's just tough to kind of wrap your mind around all of this because of everything that's transpired up until this point would vick was saying the swinging over helmet and hitting somebody else in the head with that. I think that's where the the biggest issue was in the big shock factor that everyone saw that night. was somebody getting hit with a helmet right right if the helmet was never swung. There isn't the suspension for the rest of the season. I think that's it's pretty simple. So the whole racial thing yes. That's it's a very serious allegation and it's a serious thing thing but at the end of the day it's swinging a helmet at the violence of that is the reason that that he is suspended for length of time that he's suspended for for and just to be clear here one more time. The facts are simply these myles. Garrett has alleged that Mason Rudolph used a racial Slur Mason Rudolph via the steelers and his representation tation has vehemently denied that. And that's really where we stand myles. Garrett has been suspended indefinitely the very least the remainder of the regular season we. I do not know yet the outcome of that appellate hearing and. That's not the only thing that was stated you guys talked about yesterday. The precedent that was mentioned with regards to the Antonio Smith with Vincent with Richie Incognito at instance. You know being different when you're talking about distinguishing whether helmet hit someone on the head and in one incident where that did not happen now when I was talking to sources last night about this trying to say you know well if it's not a complete apples to apples comparison you know. How do you necessarily bring that up? As part of Malls Garrett's defense offense and I was told well players have an expectation for somewhat similar disciplined with regards to somewhat similar instances in my retort back was I could see how the NFL would come back and say well especially now that we're in the age of the NFL putting an emphasis on ahead being hit that they could make that distinction in that. There is where the difference is now with regards to your question to you. Know them and you know how does that. Add to the context of the situation. Obviously Fli myles Garrett should never have used a helmet on Mason Rudolph had that said any racial slur in and of itself is also important and is it's not something that should be tolerated in any workplace during any scenario as well. Well we will continue to follow this again Anderson. Adam schefter reporting that as part of his his defense and his appellate hearing myles Garrett is alleging that Mason Rudolph used a racial slur prior to the incident. That occurred Thursday night. We will have much more on this to come. Ah

Beyond the Helmet Hit: Who is Myles Garrett?

"Myles Garrett delivered enact that will define him for the rest of his. NFL career from now on no matter what he does people will always remember myles Garrett Eric as the guy that could have killed football player on a football field by taking his helmet and swinging it like a weapon. Brown's defensive end myles Garrett has appealed suspension for striking steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in the head with his own helmet. Who is the player behind that violent image Mitch burned into fans minds? ESPN's Ryan Smith sat down for extensive interviews with Garrett before this fateful season began today today. The story of mild-mannered pass rusher. WHO's now at the center of a football firestorm? It's Thursday November twenty first. I mean this is. ESPN daily presented by Dell small-business yesterday myles myles Garrett went to New York to appeal his suspension. What happened but let's remember this all stems from the game Thursday Night Ryan Smith is a correspondent and legal analyst for ESPN CLEVELAND Browns? Pittsburgh steelers and in the final seconds Mason Rudolph and myles Garrett get into who it and myles Garrett pulls off Mason Rudolph Helmet and hits them with and getting in there was myles Garrett. Ain't took the helmet off off and slammed him on the top of the head. Oh my goodness data and Garett an indefinite suspension at minimum suspended for the rest of the season and the playoffs offs myles Garrett is agent his lawyers they all met in front of an appointed artless common arbitrator for this James Thrash. A person I would hear this case former. NFL Player and presented his case. Any argued from precedent. He basically said that a couple years back. You're a player for the Texans. Antonio Smith swung his helmet at then. Offensive Lineman Richie Incognito for the dolphins and that earned Smith a two game suspension during the preseason and a one game regular season suspension so for Garrett and his people the arguments simple. That's what happened the last time something like this this happened. And that's what should happen for me. Knock a lengthy suspension. I'm getting right now Ryan Myles Garrett. Wasn't the only player involved in the news this today. Mason Rudolph also gave a statement from my involvement. Last week there is no acceptable. Excuse the bottom line is I should have done a better job keeping my composure. In that situation and fall short when I believe it means it'd be a Pittsburgh steeler a member of the NFL. What did you make of that? Here Mason Rudolph is on the day that myles Garrett is having his appeal hearing and he gets up in front of everybody and he apologizes for his. Is Babe you're in this. I found this stunning here. You've got a guy accused of attacking another guy getting lengthy suspension for it and on the day of the hearing the person who arguably I guess you could say has been victimized comes up and talks about his part in it and almost in some ways exonerates the aggressor and in a way showed that. Hey we all had a role in this and nobody should be excused. Everybody has a little bit of blame. I have no ill will towards myles Garrett great respect for his ability as a player and I know this you know if miles could go back you would handle the situation differently Ryan part of the reason I wanted to talk about this story with you is that you spend a lot of time with myles Garrett. You interviewed him for sixty this summer. You got to know him so I was wondering wondering where were you when you first saw the incident. And what was your reaction. I was at home and I was just kind of hanging out flipping through the channels stop by ESPN. And I see something involving myles Garrett and I. It doesn't really compute to me what I'm looking at. But then as I looked closer I realize is exactly what he did. And and I'm hearing the commentary I'm hearing the outrage but the first word that popped in my mind was why I would never ever in any way. Excuse the conduct. It's just an excusable no matter what happened but I spent better couple days with them in our reporting for east sixty and this was a guy who's introverted. This was a guy who in some ways is mild mannered. Heard if you can believe it and this was about as far as anything I would expect from myles Garrett based on the Guy I know what is it that brought him to this point. Well who has the guy you knew. What was it like when you met him? You know what's so interesting. I got to tell you the very first time I met him. He walks downstairs to sit in our interview chair. And he's wearing a queen shirt. He starts talking about Queen loves the group loves. The music is imploring me to go see the movie that kind of is myles Garrett in a nutshell he's exactly nothing like what you would expect from a guy who replays the way he does who appears the way he is his interest are so wide ranging. It was nothing like anything I ever expected. He loves poetry a tree. He's been writing poetry since he was a boy emslie. He walks among the missed unseen. Two most he doesn't exist. He loves COMEX. He's going to comecon this year to attend some events somewhere down the line. I left to go and not to species for. Hey I'm just here to house and finally the costumes. Maybe one day no just myself. He wanted to dress dragon. Ball Z. Character he he loves anime things like that at the beginning of the interview he said to me I was a boy who report Mama for other man to play Publ Myles Myles Garrett. The person is far different from myles Garrett the football player what did you learn about his upbringing. I mean this is a guy who came from a family of athletes so much talent athletically. His mom was an all American American in track. His sister won a national championship. In track is brother played basketball for the nets. And I'm not just talking about average athletes but really really top level athletes another flight. You can do anything like do whatever makes you happy. But you're going to play some sports. He had sort of this. Love hate relationship that that was more hate when it comes to football playing football at that time even though really didn't want to but at that time I really didn't care for bod playing coming back are you can't play vic so played off of the linemen definitely not for me. I played the game and good at it but there was something missing was Kinda and that passion for the game so it was kind of hard to be okay amounts. His First Love was really basketball and at one point when he was in high school athletic director wanted him to play football. so He's a look. You can play basketball as long as you play football. So how does does he go from being a kid who wasn't even sure if he wanted to play the sport to being the number one overall draft pick and it's a really interesting story when he was around around his sophomore year coaches sat him down parents in the room and they sorta gave him an ultimatum. So you're GONNA put your heart in it or you're not what you're gonNA stop waste of People's time laid it all on the line or you can bring your hips almond bus. Sit Down and do I really want this. Do I really WANNA play football. I'm all my life and they say this the get it. No you could be one of the best. It could be the best player in the nation. This guy is a competitor like he wants. That's to win. And I think when he heard that that it could be the best in the country that SORTA gave him permission to sort of go after people to be the aggressive to be fiery on the field. It wasn't about hurting people. It was about showing people that he is the best that he can be the best best and from then on his play chains really started piling up sack numbers by midway through his senior year. Now you got scores scouts else coming in to see him and as he says. Nick Sabin

One of the ugliest on-field altercations in the history of sports

"Did you see the end of the NFL game last night the Thursday night game turned into foot brawl and it may be the ugliest thing I've seen in sports in a long long time you Michael more people have seen the fight and then were actually watching the game since it's very true what we're talking about is this in the closing seconds of the game miles Garrett one of the Cleveland defenders took down Mason Rudolph the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers and as he was taking them down there were some words grabs Mason Rudolph's helmet rips it off of Rudolph's head and tries to beat him with it basically assault I don't know if you would call it a deadly weapon but it was certainly a soft with a blunt instrument that is made to be very hard okay Mason Rudolph thankfully did not have his skull split open he seemed to be okay but never the less there has been a big fallout from the league and a lot of questions about criminality a lot of questions about what's appropriate punishment for this kind of on field behavior that could have resulted in yet and at an opposing player with a critical injury and apparently no regard
