The horse trainer bob baffert got caught up between a couple of strategies yesterday. He's definitely saying he's innocent. His horse medina spirit winning the kentucky derby but now they are saying that. This horse could be disqualified. A second test forthcoming. I don't know why if you have the a sample then wise. It takes so long to get the b sample shouldn't it be maybe expedited a little bit. There's a race this weekend. The preakness bob effort says that the rules aren't fair for a man who seems to be in control of everything in his board. This is a tough week. This is the fifth time in just over a year. That has horses have failed drug tests in the court of public opinion. He's fighting an uphill battle but he is fighting you know and it's not just about medina's spirit and the kentucky derby or the preakness coming up. It's about his legacy. He's a hall of famer. He's the bill belichick. His sport at the very least baffert has to convince the people that he didn't knowingly cheat and even if medina spirit is ultimately disqualified. If there's at least a seed of doubt that could help baffert. Then what is it going to be. As he pointed out this seems to be very low levels of a banned substance. Now whether that's covering up for something bigger to talk to the horse racing insiders and we had two different opinions on the interview. That i did yesterday because the insiders wanted something different than just the court of public opinion. The rest of us are going to be watching closely to see how this plays out if baffert can somehow keep this from causing irreparable damage to his reputation. Are you going to let the horse. Medina ready in the preakness. Let me bring back. A couple of comments. That bob baffert had yesterday in the final hour of the program. He's not sure where this anti inflammatory drug that was in his horse came from that. Civic drug is usually can be injectable but the horse wasn't injected with that we check. Make sure that nobody had any special creams. I'm learning about it right now. Nobody handle the horse. That hannelore had any cream. We just don't know where this came from. And then he suggested that is horse had been sabotaged. I think. I don't know if i was sabotaged indirectly. I think it could have been somebody handled. His horse touched it. Because if those levels it's very minute it's at a level that wouldn't affect wars and it's scary scary levels because i've had this this problem before. And then he talked about his reputation. It's horrible dan. it's something that you know. I would never risk my reputation. And i trained for the great horses and i trained for great clients and just doesn't make sense people in the horse industry. They they understand. You know it's s not the public not. Everybody felt that way yesterday. Because bob baffert talked about you know the cancel culture. This is just a drug that was found in your horse. This and he's one cases before he won last last month in an appeal. Yes 'cause i save me being the average person. It sounds crazy to me that somebody could touch a horse and have so much of whatever the substances on their hands that it would then leak into the bloodstream to then be tested the i mean that's an amazing amount of coincidences to me the completely untrained on professional horse person. That sounds crazy to me. Well it defies logic in in our world on the outside and what kind of operation are you running where people can randomly get close to your horse. I know that you have certain people there. This is the greatest trainer in history. And you would think things would be buttoned up and why would want to your employees. Do this so just trying to understand. I mean the sport is dirty. It's been dirty for decades. You know what can you get away with. But if any said look this this drug would not help my horse at all win the kentucky derby not at all i said first of all never used it and this wouldn't help my horse okay. Why do we have these tests. Why why is there a marker or some kind of level of. You can't go above this if it doesn't help your horse you can take that drug in california but you can't take that drug. Your horse can't have that drug in it system. The levels are different state by state. I find that interesting. That's part of the problem too. Bearing degrees here of you can get away with that. But you can't get away with that depending on what state you're in jio. Let him he's not going to the preakness medina spirits going. What if medina spirit goes there. They still don't have the test results. Back yeah paulie. Yeah you're right then go. State by state. The kentucky horse racing commissions said it could be at least for weeks until the second blood sample is correctly tested and the results are positive or negative and then now with the preakness that is up to maryland. racing commission. The maryland racing commission says they have not made a decision. they're looking at the situation monitoring the situation and he thought yes or a no yet and he talked yesterday about taking legal action if to get his horse in the preakness what what if he's barred from the preakness and he's clear. This horses cleared gonna sue. So they're there now this racist even more interesting. If this horse doesn't win the kentucky derby with this horse be invited to go to the preakness would bob baffert this horse go to the preakness probably not but you win the kentucky derby. Maybe you're catching lightning bottle. And you somehow have a triple crown horse on your hands here. The value of that. Yeah paulie also the prize money for the kentucky. So it's a week or field and he could win this race. I know that sounds like what if he wins. It in a week feels very possible. Then we have a real situation now by way. Does that sound right ever. You heard that before the that a lot horses skipped the preakness because they want to do the obama. Well it depends on. What kind of horse you have you know with the track belmont dome onto marathon but you know the preakness load management for horses. Yeah yeah. I don't think they doing it like nba players do was sit out the preakness i need. I need a personal day. I need a spa day. I'm going sit out the preakness here load management in horse racing but bob baffert. He came on wanting to defend himself. And i don't know if he helped himself or hurt himself. "In Baltimore next Saturday for the Preakness. He was there in Kentucky this fan Saturday and we have yet to determine exactly what horses will be. Contesting the Preakness. I guess I'm going to ask you to do a little speculation here know that All the facts are not in yet. But if they don't allow Bob Baffert to enter Medina spirit in the Preakness, which very well could happen Would they also tell him concert tour is not available to race will be an action against backward and affect all these horses, or just the one to tested positive for the Kentucky Derby. No. That Zo'or. Really good question. Um, remember a few years back, a trainer had been cited for a medication violation and the horses he trains still ran. In a race. It was it was a breeder's Cup event, and that That particular race force ran under an assistant trainers. Name is that something that could be considered? You really have to feel for everyone involved here in in terms of the force himself, Nina's spirit his owner, embers of Don Breeder, Gail Rice, bloodstock agent, Very young, the jockey John Velazquez. Um, how the Maryland Jockey Club and the Maryland Racing Commission how they're gonna come to a decision. Um, that's what that's what we're waiting for, is actually mentioned. The clock is running the treatments is in six days. I'm not quite sure how that's going to be handled yet only because this feels like Uncharted territory. I think back in the I don't know if it was the fifties or sixties, another horse had been disqualified. I believe it was fourth and beauty are all I have to go back and see how that was handled. You know, we had a disqualification two years ago with maximum security and that was for something during the race interference. He was disqualified and country house with the winner. This for me Field. This is this is uncharted and there's so many different layers, and we're so early in the process with this just having broke this morning. I have wish I had more of a definitive answer. All I know is it is under review. Bathroom has been suspended from running horses at Churchill Downs. Obviously, the Kentucky Derby victory could be vacated and the Maryland Jockey Club, the Maryland Racing Commission, they having they have a decision to make. And we appreciate your giving us what you do know and where you can making good and quite educated guesses for us. This one. I think you could make an educated guess on because someone brought it up to me and my first hour and I answered it The way I thought it was being entered. You could neither confirm or deny for me. I said if the vampires have been second test The title is stripped the purse money is stripped. Someone asked me. Well, What about the jockey? Does he lose out on the percentage of the person that he got? I said, as far as I know. Yeah, that's case they take all the money away that the jockey you had nothing to do with the condition of the horse gets stiff, too, because he loses out on the purse. I'm thinking you got a pretty good grasp on this one. Since it's what your dad did forever. A tie is the leveled eyes. Is the jockey held responsible, even though he has nothing to do with it. If you have to. If that if that If the violation is upheld with the sample test with the second test. And that confirm and the disqualification takes place. You have to Look at it from the perspective that Medina spirit did not cross the wire in front in the Kentucky Derby Man balloon would be the winner of the Kentucky Derby. So naturally that involves the first distribution to the owner. Trainer jockey All the way on down Juddmonte Farm would be a Kentucky Derby winning owner Brad talks, the winning trainer up the wrong Taru, so as far as the distribution, it really doesn't matter. Who exactly was responsible. In this case, You look at the train of the buck stops with the trainer. Naturally, he's responsible, but everybody would pay. From that standpoint, you know Johnny Velazquez would not be considered the four time Kentucky Derby winning jockey. The winner would be Mandaluyong, and then everything would follow accordingly, as if man balloon had crossed the wire in first, But people tie our guest here on CBS Sports Radio. All right, I'll make the statement. I'll keep you out of hot water. You won't have to respond to it. But I'll just give my opinion, not the hot water. It's the way we don't have all day. You don't want to speculate too much. We are where we are in this story. It just broke this morning. We only have access to the information. We have access to, But I am I'm speculating wildly here and giving you a hypothetical if both past Babar torches are deemed out of the Preakness, that Maryland jockey Club or astronomy decide. No, We just can't have this. I'm not gonna force run when a Triple crown and be taken down. No, not happening. We're not allowing them into the race. I thought that they were not only the favorite in the second choice in the race. They were the runaway favorite and second choice in a race, and if they both get taken out, I would say what was left of the field would barely be a great one level. This is my opinion, not repeat, um and you shouldn't have a Triple Crown race. That's barely a great one level. Will we see other trainers decide? Hey, if bathroom is not in there with the two best horses, I am jumping here at the last second and get a part of racing history and a million dollar purse and everything else will we see late entries to the Preakness? If that's the way it goes. Absolutely no question. Bob Baffert also trained life is good, who was easily contained the most talented that passes three year old of this crop early on when we were watching the preparations leading up to the Derby. After he was injured. The race that he was pointing towards I believe what the sanity to Derby and they were thinking Nobody wants to run against. Life is good. We might get 34 other horses to run in the race and in bathroom, a train one or two of them. Assume is he was out of the mix. You wound up with a much bigger field. You wound up with general of in Iran in the sand. Anita Derby, so sure. And look, we have to keep in mind that if this is upheld Man balloon winds up being regarded as the Kentucky Derby winner for for Juddmonte, his owner and red toxin. Any trainer they've said and still say today, they're not planning the Preakness isn't in the mix right? The Preakness is not in the mix, but I don't know is there for the discussion is now considered a Kentucky Derby winner, And now he's the only horse that would be eligible to capture a triple crown. Do you? Do you go back and have that conversation regardless without hypothetically, if Medina Spirit and concert tour are not in the mix. Yes, very roundabout way of asking your question. You would wind up with many more horses than are and I think right now there's nine or 10. But you'd wind up with my guests in.

I'll be tuning in and bet in along and let's let's get him around safe and let's cash. You gotta stay. Thanks so much bill downs one everybody on twitter downs and that that whole team Bill and and ladies are so much fun Nancy and Rachel and they have fun and they provide good information bill bill's got very good opinion. We'll stay right here We've gone break loose and we will all the way till noon today because we've got exactly twenty minutes before the Breeders Cup reveals the pre entries and Seth Merrill join us for that right now Alan Foreman. US and the mid Atlantic group in T H A. With some news yesterday but a dual purpose of having Alan Join US given yet the latest baffert trainee to come up with a positive test and kind of a a A. You know another one of these products in Dexter, Dexter DEX. CHORFA N- that raises some. Yeah. Some questions Alan and this has been in the news anybody that pays attention to this stuff is familiar with some cases particularly in Maryland and in Kentucky. Morning Steve Actually as you know, because you knew the turn on the meetings, we track medication violations of the mid Atlantic. We do a yearly review and and we've been looking this one has been showing up. For the past three years. We have seen positive tests for that Schwab Fan which is the metabolite of Dextrathoraphan. and we've seen anywhere from four to six or seven. Cases involving this substance each year. and You know it's a it's a substance that ubiquitous because of its presence in. Complications and costs questions, and so you'll see it during the wintertime when you've got flu season. and things like that, and these kinds of These kinds of cases are very challenging for regulators. Let alone the horsemen to the frustration of. Positive tests that they can't necessarily explain. Air was. To. Specific that I that I referenced than the one I remembered there was the group of three of them that got tossed by the KHRC I think. Here the year before, and then there was one involving Mary up ler who is is virtually the last person in in racing that that should have to. Deal with with this kind of thing and she she thought she fought one of these. Tooth and nail because she was incensed about it. Yeah. Well, first of all, the Kentucky cases were really the first that that. Could take into consideration whether in fact, the concentrations reported a could have had an effect on the performance of the worst since those three cases. Kentucky has changed the rule but at the time, it was concluded that since the amounts that were in the samples were below what would have been concentration that would have affected the performance of the worst day through those cases out. Thank Mary dopplers positive comes along and. Mary called me when this happened she didn't couldn't even pronounce it. Let alone know what it wasn't. She had called ethnic when it was in and asked for some guidance I did not represent Mary case Nary was insistent. That she didn't do anything wrong. She couldn't explain it and she pleaded her case to the commission and based upon the rulings that have been made in Kentucky and I believe in Mary's case, the concentration may have been less than what was reported in Kentucky, but nonetheless, she couldn't explain it the Maryland Racing Commission and a very unusual thing held Mary responsible as the absolutely sure. Of course. they did find that because of the presence that the Horse Be Disqualified they mitigated her penalty. And then gave her half the points that a catch because Maryland is part of the mid Atlantic which has a multiple medication violation point system that assigns points to violations. So it was kind of a you know a draw as far as Mary's was decided in there was obviously an owner and trainer on the other side who were unhappy with the with the result but nonetheless You got a mixed bag there. I haven't really been following the extra thin cases since then but I believe that regulators have been disqualifying the wars and mitigating the penalties. which brings us now to you know to the current situation. Well and explain for a second. It's a little. It's unique to some degree because under that acknowledgement it, it's a the class in terms of the class of. Violation that it is it's a minor. Violation, but it's got a pronounced penalty side. So in in racing under under the curve gene medications classified one through five one being the most serious in five or basically innocuous substances. So mostly the violations that we see in the class four category they are either. Medications that are on the control therapeutic substances list. This one is not on that list or because of their ability to affect the performance of a horse reported positive test in that category or the drugs that have the least potential to affect the performance of the horse. But then you have to go to the penalty categories because there are three penalty categories, a B and C. Anything your most serious, and they can result in one year lifetime suspensions. Your be category substances that depending on the nature of the substance and its classification is a drug or anywhere from thirty days. And Up, and then your class for medications which can result in fines only were fines and suspensions up to thirty days. So this one because. it. It does have stimulant properties. Falls into the category, which is a suspension of thirty days plus applying a loss of the perse. So in California, it's a Category Day or Class B penalty, and so if there's a finding of violation and it's not mitigated. The penalty could be a minimum of thirty days. I wanted everybody to understand the mechanics around you know the the particulate. Which? Gets us to you know the the barn and the and these protracted difficulties and to the point Alan where you know the this reflects very poorly for the entire industry and you know. We. We explained the Betamax Own and what it is as a anti inflammatory Dr all day yesterday and we talked about you know how horsemen you know use it and it you know a legal med and and overage the we understand overages and you and I, and and our MTC visitors and you know we've explained and and tried to you know how people understand that you know using legal therapeutic meds and and having you know incidents of overages. At that can happen and and shouldn't be viewed you know in the in the same way that specific attempts to. Move Horses up and influence, performance, should be. The problem we're getting to now is that there's just been too many of these with with this barn and given the high profile nature it it's A real problem and I I needed you to kind of come in and. Suggest you know how people are supposed to view this and what the practical steps are. For for everybody to deal with it because it, it's it can't go on. Yeah well, look Let me just say at the outset that I have enormous respect for Bob Baffert. I'm use one of the greatest trainers, the history of our game and hence down and he's a friend and you hate to see it. and I don't know the facts and circumstances of. This situation I only know what I read in. He's got a an excellent wearing Craig Robertson and. Craig was the one who said this is a bad string for Bob and it is I mean it speaks for itself..

"Will be able to watch actually starting. Actually. I got that It's even earlier it started. Saturday the at at Laurel and they'll take starting Friday. They're gonNA. Let out of state horses. Enter. so that's loosening up nicely. all the. Protocols in place social distancing facial covers owners come in through the clockers entrance near the carriage room in the grandstand after showing their. Maryland racing commission credential. And you re loud on the track apron to watch their race, but you have to leave after the is over. Right. Grandstand and clubhouse remained closed. Paddock and winter circle access not allowed. So. You can watch your worse run. You're not going to be in a photo, apparently So there we go Outta town jocks, not yet allowed to ride Maryland. Only those that were at Laurel for the last week for opening weekend. Then after. Today's card. To Day to day a week racing Friday Saturday at Laurel going forward, so there's the. Various. Admission policies that have been. Changed Look speaking of a change emerald. Is going to. Run Wednesday Thursday. and. I think that's a reaction. Logically to. What has become a glut suddenly of Monday Tuesday. Wednesday action. The the interest that so many. Had had the in the early part of the week based on the will rogers and fodder success. So Emerald. is going to go for mid week Wednesday Thursday as opposed to Monday Tuesday and they get started. On, June twenty-fourth! Has opening day. There Wednesday June twenty fourth there is. A really. Nice piece of news and Andrew Offerman is probably GonNa join us tomorrow in advance of Canterbury's. Opening Day Wednesday. and. Canterbury announced. On Friday. If you didn't see this. Canterbury who nobly. Tried to. Innovate and and tried to. Experiment with low takeout across the board a couple of seasons ago and while it boosted handle for them. It didn't necessarily offset. Handle didn't, offset. what? The what the higher handle with the higher takeout! They. There was a big fall And a lot of people wanted to use that as some sort of evidence that you know lower takeout didn't matter, it's not. Just, not the case. We've discussed any number of times that there has to be a wider an industry-wide attempt. because. Because Canterbury had reduced its takeout. And there was more money in player's pockets and better churn. Potential. It didn't necessarily mean everybody was taking that. Churn, benefit. And Bending it right back at Canterbury some. No doubt and some loyalty and some affinity, and some new attention came their way, but. There there was no. There was no proviso that you had to bet whatever whatever you were was staying in your pocket because of the lower takeout it. Nobody said you to only use that money at Canterbury. So that's why an industry-wide experiment. People, would you know would really love to see it now? What they've done here though. Ten percent. takeout. On their pick five. and. Opening Day on Wednesday. and. We'll talk to Andrew Tomorrow about the season. We touched base with a few weeks ago when Canterbury got. The approval. To, open up the backside, and and get their season started, so we're going to shine some light on on Canterbury and and Indiana to coming up. As well. But This is this is really I mean the ten percent here twelve percent or eleven point nine nine at Indiana so the pick five continues to be. The focus of The low takeout opportunity and great for The the really do a nice a nice job. They've they've tried so hard. And of course they're going to be hurt Canterbury there. One of these tracks like fodder to some degree that has a loyal and active on track. Attendants. Success, story I mean they they bring in. Big Crowds so losing the on-track is going to be tough, so this kind of thing ten percent takeout pick five Hopefully that helps them. with. You know what is going to be some revenue. Dent Until, patrons can start to. Come to Canterbury again and speaking about people attending There's people attending i. Imagine! All the various gaming parlours in Kentucky, today, allowed to re-open. Today Judeh. and. Derby city. The over there By the spectrum and at Ellis Park Kentucky, downs, and the Red Mile. So the the HR facilities back up and running today, and that, of course good for everybody involved. Let's do this. Let's take last break of the morning. We'll come back and close out. The the Monday get together as we go also mentioned that keeneland condition book came out. Over the weekend. And A. Obviously, the. The BLUEGRASS Ashland card. Going to be the highlight. Maker's Mark actually is going to be on July tenth. So they'll run that on the Friday but then the Big Day is July eleventh Saturday card with the Ashland the bluegrass grass. Of course leading to point the contributions. for the Derby Oaks. Pecking order. Though also run the Madison the Jenny Wiley as well so it's A. Daily average person's of almost nine hundred and fifty thousand. For a total of four point seven million, and about half of that more than half of that is, is steak my. All right and steak nominations close on Tuesday the twenty fourth. So CAITLIN set to go and Let me take a break because. "This is talk radio ziti. WCBS. Seven twenty four DJ Tom is upset at us. He says, why are you not telling that the thugs were black and the guy on the pike was white? I think we mentioned that yesterday if I'm not mistaken, but was this racially motivated, Wilding don't know could be I don't know if all the victims, I think the guy that was kicked in the face, I could not see his his race. The bicyclists was white somebody, I don't know the people in the cars or the or the tobacco. Shop owner. So but again, it's, it's more of the same. When a tire community has been told the cops, or your enemy cops are not your friends. The white man is the is the is the problem today is the oppressor, this is the kind of stuff that basically festers and then you see why people are acting out and knows what's being said or taught or encouraged in the home if there is a home. You know, I, I doubt there is if an eleven year old and fourteen year old or out Wilding in the middle of the day, the inner harbor. Well, we know that these kids were from Baltimore. For the most part. There might have been some stragglers here there. But for the for the most part, the vast majority from Baltimore, we also know that most of the kids that were up there in white Marsh, east point mall were also from Baltimore. What does that tell you know, it's a again, it is a cultural problem, of course, every keep flaming. It's no recreational opportunities for these these young kids. I look, I didn't have a ton of meter when of course it was different growing up in the suburb of we went all you needed was a bat the ball. Sometimes they didn't have glove. Or sometimes you made whatever you, you found ways to recreate and to engage in sports that were healthy that were productive instead of looking to get in trouble. So anyway, leaders of the Baltimore general assembly delegation are calling in the Maryland racing commission to investigate the Stronach groups management of Pimlico delegates shirl, Glenn. And Senator Antonio Hayes urging the commission to hire an independent accounting firm to aggressively audit these stone ox, they wanna look into decision to close nearly seven thousand seats Pimlico, why would a company wanna close seats with cost the money unless there was a public safety issue. I think that's just a stupid suggestion. And there were malfunctioning bathrooms on Preakness day while because it's a dump that's, that's the reason why specifically Frank pointing to the sun, paper reporting that Stronach spent eighty seven percent of the state subsidy at laurel and only thirteen percent at Pimlico as proof that they have this is willful neglect of Pimlico. They write has become an embarrassment to the state of Maryland and to racing over. Let's look at racing days laurel has one hundred fifty Temuco has twelve so that's about, right. Eighty seven to thirteen percent because most of the money should be going to law because they have the most. Racing days and Pimlico has really one day where where it shines, and that's the Preakness outside of that nobody goes, nobody would have a whole lot more racing days. Like they used to have if the owners, whether it's the current owners of the previous owners would have kept up keeping the rather than just putting paint on. That's what they did in many cases, you had like a lump teen coats of paint, rather than this painting, the place here and there and what have you mix them? See, you know, serious. Of renovations to to the plant. But now it's almost too late. Well, the state was also not real friendly to the third and horse racing industry. Former governor Earl tried to fix that and he, he was fought tooth and nail by the Democrats, including the recently deceased speaker Bush. So if there was willful neglecting practice, it wasn't a part of the Stronach's, it was part of Democrats in the state of the legislators, they're going to the trauma, you know, to get something done here already knew that the vast majority of the money that, that the state was giving to of the Stronach group was going to laurel. They already know that seven twenty eight and you're listening to Sean, and Frank. We are Maryland's, wakeup call. "Been saying that that apparently laurel is in much better shape. And it's kind of the what they see is the premier track, and I've never been to Pimlico, but it's been explained to me that it's in a less than desirable. Neighbor. This isn't the only water break that they've had their they've water water. Maybe a main, but they've had a plumbing problems there on you know, they, but they wanna move the Preakness out to lower. Royal. So they've the city is now suing them to try to seize control of Pimlico, and the Preakness stakes to keep it in the center of Baltimore's. There's this lawsuits going on. And then I mean, people don't care. They don't show up. You gotta go where it's work when you watch the race and Saturday, you'll notice that there will be a significant grandstand area that will be empty because apparently they've had some engineers go out there and look at it. And I think at sixty five sixty six hundred seats that they've had to take out of commission because the grandstands they are no longer able to bear the weight. So those seats are out of play. There's literally a giant hole in the front of the main entrance of the grandstands at they're out there trying to fill with gravel and presumably pave. So it's. It's not a good look for the the folks there Pimlico in the Maryland racing commission. You can only paint so much and. The garage is falling down. I mean, it's to put it quite bluntly, you shine attorney, it's still tired. Are we safe harbor? I heard is okay. Tony. Let's see CBS news military analyst, Mike Lyons is going to talk more about this. Heightened state of alert that we have Willie. And we just learned earlier. What about four thirty this morning non-emergency? US government employees were being ordered out of Iraq. The Baghdad confirming that the directive had been given by the US State Department limited information provided but citizens words to depart by commercial transportation as soon as possible secretary of state, Mike Pompeo yesterday was in Russia in so she talkative Ladimir Putin a couple of things that he talked to them about what actually three things that were major one is Iran right to is Syria. Also problem area where they both agreed that they need to fight extremism in those places the Venezuela and finally Pompeo apparently did warned the Russians. About meddling in the upcoming twenty twenty elections. He said that would seriously harm relations one apparently the Russians have also been accused meddling in Venezuela where the the leader in the disputed leader down. There was apparently on the verge of getting on a plane go into Cuban being done with it and allegedly. They were the the Russians called down there and said don't get on the plane, do it. So. They're meddling are we meddling by the other guy. They were saying. The way it looks from, you know, saying tape saying that now want nobody saying, yeah. But from the outside looking in, you know, the Russians are telling people not to get on planes where weighing in on it. There's obviously other Central American South American nations have a vested interest in this not going to pot. So I mean, I think to some extent the whole world meddling in it. Because Venezuela goes there's going to be chain-reaction. If you have a subscription to the New York Times you can go back to February last year. They wrote a fascinating article that talked about how the US metals in so many elections, and it's not just the US and Russia. It's every nation is doing this. And it was just a fascinating today about how Israel is is going on. What's happened is? They're not able to point down. They're not able to pinpoint it was the Israeli government that was doing it per se, but they sent ironically just a small group of folks that are using what was done, and it's coming out of Israel, which is basically hacked the phone is what they did some commercial spyware that you can get from Israeli company. So be it could be, you know, contractor, etc. But look, we did it they do it. Everybody's meddling in everybody else's elections. It is threatening though is obviously the idea.

"May nine hundred seventy the start the Ninety-six Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville. This is the most prestigious event and the American flat racing calendar. Twenty riders take on the one and a quarter, mile course, none as the fastest two minutes in sport. But this year is different writing. Thoroughbred could fathom and making history is twenty one year old Diane Crump, the first ever female jockey to ride at the Kentucky Derby. Well. I mean, the crab was huge. For one thing. I'm sure it was partly fascination and another thing it was a lot of people were upset by the fact that women were gonna ride that they just thought that we would be the downfall of the sport. For Diane horses were a passion that started when she was put on the back of the carnival by me at the age of four I can still remember it to this day. Just as clearly it was it was just it was fascination and a few years later she encountered her first racetrack. I was baptized by the fire of seeing that site. It was crazy from then the passion for it actually never died. So once you started learning the speed and learning how to come out of the gate and learning what it was all about. Then I realized that this is what I want. I loved it loved it. I loved the way it felt on the back of a racehorse. Diane was following in the footsteps of Kathy Kisner best known as an equestrian rider in the Olympics. She was granted a professional race licensed to compete against male writers in nineteen sixty seven but only after courtroom counter with the Maryland racing commission, and she won the right to ride as soon as she did the few of us were should were only three or four probably actually around the. Country that were galloping horses at that time wanted to ride as well. I applied for my license and penny and early applied for her license. But it was already the end of the meet at Churchill Downs and the trainer that she worked for put her on a horse the last day of the meat, and then the male riders would not ride against her. So they caught her and everyone after that headed to Florida. So at the next meeting highly park in Florida, there was a change of attitude. Wasn't that they couldn't keep boycotting. So I knew that my day would come the stewarts had said that when a woman was named to ride any rider that wouldn't ride against a girl was gonna get fined and suspended for the entire meet the next morning. The writers are supposed to call in at nine to report your weight in that you're going to be there and find out what time you have to go. And then they had to figure out where they were gonna put me 'cause they weren't gonna put me in the men's jobs soon as they called for the riders to come. Out to go silent parak-, then they said four armed security guards one on each side one front and back of me. They were so crowded around me that I think they were afraid that they were they were gonna I don't know either troppled me or I'm not sure stone. The I don't know what they thought. And what were those people in the crowd? Saint go home you need to clean your house. You need to cook dinner that there was a lot of that. But there was a lot of good support to. Although if you read it in the paper, you wouldn't have thought that for me it was about the race. And that Finally I would finally get to ride races. Which is what I wanted..
