"So or you know the jays could not make up any ground. But they're going back to margaret saying you don't know if it's going to happen or you're not confident that a well that's perfectly fair and i'm not expecting so much either but i mean if you want to do it. That's how you do it. You take out the orioles for three and you take two or three from the athletics. Because that's what you have to do. You can't lose the series to the athletics either looking at by. I don't know how much until the red sox really fall off. I know they've been kind of holding their ground to bid over the last couple of weeks. I know the the jays did get a game on them after. Cleveland beat them yesterday. So there's there's something for that but And of course you still have the mariners who are ahead but they have a series against the astros coming up which was mentioned before so you hope that the astros can take them out as well maybe the jays. This is the opportunity for the j to kind of you know. Pass them once again and chase the athletics and red sox but nothing's really guaranteed so. That's really what you need to do for that. You need pretty much a week where you only lose one game. You need to take three from the oils. You need to take two from the athletics. At least and then of course you hope other teams you know the teams that you need to lose. Hope that they lose. But you know you can't always depend on that to happen. We've talked about that before. So that's why you need to focus on yourself which the jays you take the orioles and really. There's no excuse for this not to happen. But i mean we. We know how this team supported us before. And that's why say they won't do it again as much as i don't wanna be negative. It's just been kind of reality this year with team no matter if it's the bullpen. If it's the offense who's been struggling recently so that's pretty much where you look at it from now. You have reinforcements. Have george springer. I know you have reinforcements potentially in the bullpen julian. Mary weather's throwing out in aaa buffalo. Right now you have a pearson who still there you have other people who are on their way back so i mean maybe that's going to help the bullpen to give more options and we'll see what happens from there but i don't know how much i'm expecting because this is the problem to the team. This team sucks me. Like they make me believe and then they only for me to get even more disappointed..

Lewis and Clark's Stinky Expedition

"Lewis and Clark expedition was pretty much. The original road trip there was camping grilling out a ridiculous amount of mosquito bites and a large group of men who did not have much opportunity to bathe. So when they picked up the Kagowa and her baby pompey near Fort Mandate to join them. She was probably a little worried about being with a bunch of smelly guys who thought nothing of rubbing themselves with rancid bear grease to keep the bugs away but at the time she officially joined them. The temperature was below zero so mary weather. Lewis William Clark in the men were probably a long way from maximum stink edge. When the CO captain's Lewis and Clark originally started preparations rations for the journey and eighteen zero three? They gathered their chosen men. Supplies trading goods from the native Americans and as much nonperishable food as possible. They didn't know how long the trip was going to take so among other things they weren't share of how many Christmas presents to bring it was at Camp Dubois near Saint Saint Louis that they spent their first Christmas together while waiting for the spring thaw to start their journey. According to Clark's journals three native Americans. Join them for a celebration celebration. And the men frolicked and hunted all day that Spring when it was warm enough to finally start heading to the Pacific Ocean Amir twenty the three hundred miles away. The men were sure to look pretty sharp. Since it was a military operation most of them had uniforms and the CO captains were no different. The red trimmed blue coat and white woolen waistcoats and trousers. They wore were the most splendid of all and in hindsight you would probably agree that they weren't overdressed. I if you know anything about will you know that. It's less than ideal for hot summer days. But as they went on they found that their clothes were wearing out tearing and more commonly just being very uncomfortable but out there in the west they were several decades away from the existence of a department store so so they had to improvise and adapt. They wore clothes for weeks on end. And when those wore out they started making pants and shoes and over shirts from the hides of the animals that they eight Oh and they ate a lot of animals while working their way through the great plains the men typically stuffed as much as nine pounds of meat into into their hungry mouths a date lucky for them. There was a lot of game to hunt in the planes. Because these bowling ball's size portions were pretty necessary. They were burning calories like today's professional athletes. Well, I think that there's the intimacy of it and the freedom of being able to listen to something whenever you want, and that isn't structured that's interested. So the free form of it the intimacy of it eight yet. So this fictional podcast. Those are Lucy fucking goosey podcasts structured, we do have a former defense like it's not. But he's so that we can we have sim this this how she takes right? This is this is the cost you pointing at the whiteboard. This fucking sim says I feel it was good. Great dick to city. I guess that it's sort of the opportunity and sort of exactly what we're experiencing in the world of television and in movies to some degree not quite as much. But but like this this format that feels it could be something that seven minutes long. It could be something like ours, which is like five hours long. There's a sense of a little wild west freedom ish. And who knows exactly what will what will land. With the way, we look at it as that we're living in an on demand side. It's on-demand everything. I mean, the next step logical separate audio. Mike. When all the cars are connected, then you might you don't wanna hear just a radio show in the middle or show, or my dear friend for twenty years hitched, his wagon to scary movie. You find the superstar actor, and you hit your wagon to them. And then you see your career. The road. About relationships. We make money. Get to class. Hey. Thanks so much for being here. All right. So I know I've said that we'll say it again about four more times. Can I ask you if you questions? All right. So when did you move here, I moved here in two thousand four to Las Palmas on someone and this neighborhood has dramatically changed, you know, this building especially Selma street used to be one of the scariest streets in Los Angeles. "I'm sorry. So I really don't like flora. Like, I like fauna, and I like, Mary weather, but I really don't like flora, and especially I don't know if I was just watching it differently. But like when at the when she's like suggesting that like, oh, we should take the baby. And and we we should raise her, she'll never guess it. And then all of a sudden like I've always wanted to raise a baby. And I'm like, but the king and Queen and they they don't get to like spend time with their daughter. And wait what? Yeah. Know, it just I get it. I get they had really good intentions, but just the way that she she presented. It seemed like really kind of selfish and self serving. And then like on top of that. She's just kind of you know, she's really bossy. And I'm all about the blue dress Hank jazz just on principle. Like, I have to the fact that come on shoes in the blue dress for so long, and then all of a sudden, they're dancing, and she's like it's flu. And I'm like, it's been Balu. Did you really not? So like, yeah, I just did not mesh well with her by the other fairies. So I'll give her that. Can I say one more favorite thing? Forgot about sure favorite seen what it's one there. Sorry Aurora isn't sixteen yet and shoot the scene of Melissa sent with her cronies. And she's like we've been looking for for sixteen years can't find her and she's talking to the one like pig guy. And he's like, yeah. We checked here. We check their check their we've checked all the cradles. And she looks. Blow and she's like they've been looking for baby starts laughing. And then they all think hustle funny. And then she's like. Sparks them. All god. Funny. Anyway, least favorite. I don't have at least favorite character. And I don't even think at least favorite scene, I will pick when a Royal wakes up. Is just like all the crazy eyes. Yeah. It's not again, it's up bad. But it makes me laugh. So yeah, I don't think you're supposed to laugh at them. All right. Roy do you wanna go first since your phone might die? And you could say what the story like what you took away from it. Oh, no Ono. Did it die? It may have died. Okay. I'm here. I had to I'm plugging it in in between. Fallon. Now, I'm here. Final impression. Yeah. Is that? Okay. So one of the reasons why I really liked sleeping beauty growing up was because long story short went when Pocahontas came out my kindergarten class did like whole presentation on Pocahontas. And we had to say what our name men, and I couldn't find what Rory men or what it said for. So they told my teacher told me she's like, oh, well like it could be like short for Aurora. So I was like, oh, very means. Dawn, okay. Bt tabs barring bread kings. Not the same. Hey. Aurora for a really long tie. And because of that. So yeah, it was just it was really going back to it. And like remembering why liked it so much and the music was amazing in art was amazing and. Yeah. I just I really I really enjoyed going back. It really stood out as Disney classic. And, you know, even knowing now that waltz like kind of like made them redo that scene for so many times. Like, you have just all the more appreciation for it. And that the film took ten years made it really it. It's every kind of stands out as like definitely between the three original Disney princesses like this is definitely like the top for it. So I think as you said maggots really good way to end the fifties. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think that. I just yeah. I don't really have a theme or anything like I took away from the phone. But just like overall this film is like a masterpiece like it is just beautifully done. The backgrounds are gorgeous like the feel of it is gorgeous. You can tell how cohesive it is that there was one person working on like, the female and everything. And I think that yeah. This is like one of the highest notes that you could leave on like animation in the fifties. Like, it is just I I mean, I'm a Cinderella girl. I love me some Cinderella. But like, I can't believe that..

We're going to ask her, and then she's gonna curse this baby. Right. Yeah. Just birthday stuff. It's fine. Fairies the poor things. They try to do. Right. But like really everything that happens is kind of our fall. All the curse in the beginning to begin with, and the although I could still see I think is going to happen regardless but them Sassine her Shirley didn't hell they go sixteen years about messing up at all. But then they have to touch those ones. Their new birthday ruin it. All just no bad because you know, hurt them. Yeah. Oh, man. Well, let's talk about them the food flora fauna, and Mary weather so flora is the red one red slash pink. Gary fauna is the green one in Mary weather's the blue one. My favorite is honor. I just love watching her bake like the part where says fooled into. Okay. And just put the eggs in their full over and cracks facing. Like is that right? She kills me. Like, she tries to be the one that like rains them in like, she's always the one that is like don't use magic. You know, like she was she was pretty against it until that day when she gave into but. Like, they're kind of perfect comparison except one one trios evil in one trios not. Well, something else that makes fauna the same. As we gosh. What's your sister's name again Saragan? Yes, Sara Dylan that makes them the same is they both loved children, but for different. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of perfect. I kinda wanna put fauna in huff huffily. Yeah. I'll take. I wanna say raven claw for flora. I know where to put Mary Mary weather is this leather in her. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Their colors were thrown me off. I like blue in my head. And I'm like, Mary weather's not raving. I love house spunky. She is she's so spunky. I love her. I'd like I've seen this movie before. But I remember how funny they were literally laughing out loud throughout the whole movie. Sorry. It's okay. Okay. Next is king Hubert who is Philip's father. He's a hot head. He is really. Yes. Comedic relief. Love the part when he gets so offended about like Aurora possibly not wanting to marry his son up. Yeah wine. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not really sure where he feel like we don't know his personality enough minus affected he's a hot head. But I I don't know where to put him. I don't know if anybody else has any other ideas. He's kind of hard muggle Kim. He's not muggle. I guess me Hannah. Additional dude. Yeah. Humor minds me a little bit of slug horn does Chinese does. Yeah. He's like he's got good tendencies. But like there's a little bit in an undertone where it's like he gets offended easily. He's a little hot headed. He's. Yeah. He's probably slow in maybe Mary much family, like family lines, whatever like. But I don't care about peer, blah, NAMA slogan. The house. Oh way. No. You know, who he is? He's honest agree. Oh, yes. All the is. I wonder if Amos was also like his son, but that doesn't really him. But I don't know. Yeah. He is very much like Amos degree. Yeah. Yeah. Very proud of his son. All right. And lastly, we've got Melissa sent. She is just evil. Gee, houseful the is. Amort like, literally just evil. I mean, like do we do? We know why she decides to curse Aurora is there even a reason for it. She wasn't gonna die too. To the party. That's really the only reason she's bidder. Okay. Didn't send her an invite. And they said you're not wanting. She's like, oh, I thought it was just an oversight. But in that case Krisher daughter. Yeah. She's she hold a grudge. She's probably a sliver..

"First white people to invade this, this continent where we're largely beaver trappers you know, they were here for the Piltz which were worth lots of money back in Europe where where beavers had been trapped out for centuries. So what happened was the the trapper showed up. They eliminated all of these beavers and by the time, farmers and naturalists and scientists showed up, the beavers had been gone for decades. So there weren't really many people making observations about what this fully beavered landscape looked like and and how it functioned. You know, we know a little bit from people like Mary weather Lewis, and, and you know the corps of discovery in some some early trappers kept kept records, and we, you know, we, we know more. Or two from from native American oral histories. But you know, we, we really are just kind of guessing about how exactly beavers shaped our landforms. So now we're down to how many about how many beavers are in the US. Yeah, another good question and nobody. Nobody really knows. I've, I've seen an estimate about fifteen million for all of North America, which you know that sounds like a lot of fevers, right? They're not going to go extinct anytime soon. They're, you know, they're, they're probably beavers in your own local stream. But when you when you think about the fact that we were once at up to four hundred million fifteen million is quite a small small figure. So we've we've lost lots of beavers, but we've also regain lots of beavers, right? I mean, at one point at the end of the fair trade, you know, they were just one hundred thousand or so left. So from from one perspective, we made lots of progress. This is not like the only way in which beavers are similar to humans in the sense that you know they're kind of industrious and that they shape the landscape. In your book, you make the you make the kind of point that in fact, there are a lot of similarities, one being tool use for example. So let's talk a little bit about how beavers use tools. Yeah, so, well, obviously, beavers are are amazing builders. That's that's kind of the fundamental beaver behavior beavers cut down trees, right? They have. They have these very strong sort of chisel like incisors frontier that they used to fell trees. And then they section those trees into into sort of more manageable pieces and then they, then they use those pieces to create lodges, which is sort of the beaver home and dams, which which are the, you know, the Woody walls that they use to impound water and create these really remarkable pond. So there there are probably I'm not. It's a, it's a great question about whether. I think it's all how you define tool use. Right? I'm sure that there are. I'm sure that there are scientists who would who would say, well, you know, if beavers are, if you're if you consider that beaver tool use than than a bird building, a nest is is using tools in some respect, but there's there's a sort of there is sort of an intention -ality in the beaver manipulation of sticks that I think qualifies as tool use. You know you hear about, for example, b, verse filing down, sticks to, you know, to chink perfect hole in a in a in a damn, you know, there's, there's just the engine nudity that they use with which they use these materials is really, really remarkable. Yeah. And so to me before reading your book, I didn't even realize there was a difference really between the beaver habitat home, I should say and the damn that that those are actually two separate structures. Yeah, yeah. So the so the lodges so beaver, sometimes they, they'll live in the river or stream Bank or lake Bank in sort of a borough. But oftentimes you'll see. A big sort of dome like construction in the middle of the pond, and that's that's the lodge that's the home..
