The Seattle storm defeated the Washington mystics to capture the WNBA championship those teams have a regular season rematch tonight on the east coast sports updates at ten and forty after the hour, I Bill Swartz on the home of the huskies, KOMO news. Komo is bringing you the annual miracle makers telethon hosted by anchors. Molly, Shannon Mary. Nam and this event raises critical funding for uncompensated care at Seattle Children's hospital. Molly joins us now in Mali from your perspective. Why is this event different than so many of the others that you host, you know, I think it's simply because it Seattle Children's hospital anybody who has ever had to go there, whether it's because their child fell on the playground or because you had some major concern about your kids health, you know what a different place. It is. And how caring they are. And just how lucky we are to have their services right here in our backyard. It's always a pleasure to be able to help out Seattle Children's. Have you ever had to take a year kids there? I have my daughter actually spent two weeks there when she was nine years old. She had a flu that developed into pneumonia and a couple of other complications and we had a very long. Two weeks there, she was quarantined at Seattle Children's and my husband and I took turns so that nobody ever left her side. And she had some touch, and go moments. She is one hundred percent healthy now enough in college. So she's one of the millions of success stories. That's come out of there. And we were so grateful for the care. And I know we're also grateful for the kind of insurance we have. So that wasn't an issue for you. I'm sure in this case. But talk about some of the people who are helped by this being able to receive on compensated care, right? Just last year alone. Seattle Children's provided two hundred million dollars worth of uncompensated care. Sometimes people can pay part of it insurance insurance, doesn't always cover the percentage that you need, and people need additional help. And sometimes people just can't afford the care at all, but they don't have to worry about it. You can just focus on your kids, because, you know, that Seattle Children's has this safety net through the uncompensated care program, and they wouldn't be able to. That without philanthropy, one of the things that's so great about watching this telethon is seeing some of the personal stories, give us, an example of family or a child who's been helped by this one of the kids were highlighting this year. Her name is Selena, she's twelve years old now. But when she was two weeks old, she was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, and she sickle cell disease, and she is treated at Odessa Brown. They have to go there quite often unfortunately, but she has the best spirit. I think everybody will love seeing her story. Her smile is infectious. Her dad talks about how the day she was born was the happiest day of his life. And then, you know within a couple of weeks, they were at Seattle Children's. They also say that they have relied on the uncompensated care at different times. She's had care for her entire life. So you can imagine how much those hospital bills would rack up, but she has a great attitude and she's perceived phenomenal care. You can tune in tonight on KOMO TV four and this will be from eight to ten and there will be phone numbers on how you can donate, or you can.
