"Now. . You. . Are Getting Ready. . To embark on a journey. . Because forgiveness isn't something that just happens. . Instantly you decide. . Okay I want to forgive so I'm going to forgive. . Someone or you're going to forgive yourself. . It's usually a process. . But getting started as with. . Just, , about anything is often the hardest part. . So. . Make. . A. . Choice. . At this moment. . To begin that process that doesn't mean you necessarily have to forgive someone this week, , but it just means that you have begun to have more compassion. . And that you are no longer leading something have power and control over you the way animosity or holding a garage. . Can have, , it can wreak havoc on your life in fact you can become. . Bound to it. . So, , this will be a week of setting yourself free. . Now, , each meditative technique, , this week is customized to give you a sense of freedom and relief. . So you'll start off today by visualizing and then tomorrow you will discover an affirmation the next day, , a breeding techniques, , and then a mood rather next day and a chalk refocus the next day you'll layer everything together. . In Friday of the series that will actually be day six just depending on when you join us in this series and then you will ended with a final meditation on. . Saturday. . So I always begin a meditation series on Sunday although you can listen to these in any order you want. . So we are at day one whatever day that is for you. . So as you get ready to settle yourself down and meditate know that you also have a challenge. . I always issue you a challenge at the beginning of a weekly series. . Your challenge is to just as I mentioned. . Began to take the first step towards forgiveness by doing something each day. . To. . Release yourself from harboring Atta, , Mossy, , holding grudges, , and resentments. . So you could focus maybe. . On forgiving one person. . Or forgiving yourself. . You could even. . For one day, , simply focus on. . Feeling compassion. . For that person. . Or for yourself. . Another. . Day. . You might think about. . Sending. . Some gratitude for the lessons you've learned. . For going through the experience of really holding onto a garage. . Letting go of that. . If you even focus each day on feeling compassion for this person or for yourself. . You will notice. . A sense of freedom. . Inner, , freedom the best kind. . So. . Sit Up straight as you get ready to do a meditation. . And, , closure is. . Keeping them slightly elevated upward. . Began to. . Relax your. . Body. . and. . Notice. . Where you feel in your body. . Any kind of. . Animosity or Resentment towards somewhat or Torture Yourself. . You might feel a sense of shame about something in your life. . Notice. . If you hold this feeling in your body. . Now, , visualize this person that you're going to choose differ gaffe. . You might not really even feel like forgiving that person but you know that you should do this. . It's been long enough. . It's time to release. . So visualize this person. . "I'm Mary. Mickley and I wonder how you are doing this week. I hope you are noticing. How your heart feels win, you encounter stress. When you encounter joy. When you encounter the wide range of emotions, we all experience. D Today. In today's episode, we continue with our heart rain series. Where you are discovering. How to manage the health of your heart and brain? They are so interconnected. In, fact I was doing a little research for this series and I came across an article by Harvard Health Publishing. This is an article by Dr Monique Tello. It's titled Green. Health rests on heart. Health guidelines for lifestyle changes. And she starts off the article. Talking about how? Right now the world is experiencing an epidemic. That is projected to get much much worse. When I read that I thought she was talking about the coronavirus pandemic. We are experiencing. I read further and she is actually talking about an epidemic of dementia. Of affecting fifty million people. And millions more. Of their caregivers Dr Tallow goes on to say that. These staggering numbers are projected to triple by twenty fifty. So in this pandemic. We are all experiencing. There's this epidemic of dementia which stress contributes to so what we're experiencing now. Is Not likely helping to improve our odds. To battle dementia. Dementia is a progressive heartbreaking deterioration of brain functioning. Associated with aging. And there are different causes of dementia, the most common Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia Cz. Are, now thought to be closely related to and impacted. By this same diet and lifestyle factors that you follow for your heart. So you. Heard. Physical exercise such as hundred and fifty minutes per week is one of the number one ways to combat dementia and also to protect your heart health. Eating a plant based Diet in this article. Dr Tallow explains is crucial. She says there's so much substantial research showing that eating a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, which includes some healthy fats and seafood is associated with a significantly lower risk of cognitive decline and dementia and also heart disease. So. Think about your diet and the amount of. You're getting. These are also great lifestyle changes. We can make to improve our odds if we happen to contract the corona virus. It's also recommended to quit smoking and to minimize alcohol. Use especially if you already experience cognitive concerns. So how is heart health related to cognitive health? It has to do. With conditions that clog the arteries of the heart. They also clog arteries of the rest of the body including your brain. So it all boils down to damage of the arteries. The blood vessels that are critical blood, flow and oxygen delivery to the organs. Reducing stress and making sure that you have positive relationships in your mind. In fact, there's other research that shows that. Your relationship are pivotal to your heart health and your brain health especially romantic relationships. If you're married or have a partner. These significant relationships in our lives impact our heart and brain health greatly. So take care. Of Your heart and your mind. By eating well, exercising by staying away from alcohol and smoking. And reducing stress and improving your relationships.

"This is episode two thousand thirty six of the daily Meditation podcast. I'm Mary Mickley and I welcome you. Mid Week to our series were exploring on brain health in regard to memory. And I want to ask you. How is your challenge coming along this week? Your challenge that I encourage you to do every single day throughout this week. Series is a challenge. I hope you will continue to do from here on out and that is to learn something new this week. I am learning how to play the harmonium. It's an instrument I received as a gift recently and I've been wanting to learn how to play it. Maybe I'll share with you. The results of my efforts. I'm sure it will take me some time to become proficient but when I do I will guide you through a chant. I really enjoy at least once a week to sit down and do some chanting before I meditate. So how about you? What are you learning to do? I challenged you to learn something that didn't take a whole lot of setup to begin to do right away in fact another challenge for my memory. This week is to memorize my credit card numbers. This for me would be very useful so your challenge could be pretty simple. It might be memorizing a poem or a song or a prayer that you've always wanted to remember when you use your brain regularly and challenge it you retain your memory much better. I want to share with you. A few lifestyle habits that can help your memory and these are habits that you may or may not already do. I know you do at least one of the habits and that is mindful meditation. Because here you are showing up for yourself doing one of the best things you could possibly do for yourself as you learn to do different meditation techniques to calm your mind and your body. The first lifestyle habit that can help to improve. Your memory is to stay away from sugar. In fact sugar is one of the worst things possible for your brain. It interferes with your memory and even a single instance of elevated glucose in the bloodstream can be harmful to your brain can result in slowed cognitive function and a deficit in memory and attention. In fact there is some research that suggests that a high sugar consumption can cause inflammation in your brain and this can lead to memory difficulties so your brain on sugar is not a good thing the next thing you could do to improve your lifestyle to improve your memory his to give yourself regular doses of aerobic types of physical activity it might be running or dancing or any other kind of aerobic activity and what this does is it helps to increase your oxygen capacity and this helps to improve your memory now. There are many many other lifestyle habits that I'll be sharing with you over the week but those are two that I encourage you to do today. You could stop eating sugar today even if you find it. Hard to refrain from sugar completely. At least cut back on your sugar intake. Also you could do something aerobic. Even if it's jumping jacks or just doing something simple and easy by turning on a youtube video and dancing that can be a great way to in prove your memory so now. I have a meditation technique for you today. That is called a Mutiara. Mussa's are ways you position your hands and fingers that stimulate a corresponding region of your brain and function very similar as to accu pressure or acupuncture. So when you do a Mu Dry you don't have to be seated. Meditating you can do it throughout your day in fact. I most often do my mood dress throughout my day. When I noticed I need just a little extra support mood. Res- stimulate a corresponding region in your brain as I just mentioned so Mutri's could be also very beneficial for your brain. They've been around for over five thousand years as a meditation and Yoga Technique. So you might want to try a mantra. If you're new to them I know for many of you you tell me. They are your favorite technique. So the mood rougher this week is called the Shonka Mudra and you can take a look at it over on my instagram. My instagram is called SIP and I'll guide you through doing this chunk. Rudra a little about this. New Dry is that it is often done in purification ceremonies in India for Hindu types of ceremonies. So as you do it or even if you choose not to do it if you purify your thoughts today as you sit down to meditate if you release the anxiety the distractions and the stress that you're feeling that is basically what this shonka motor does. It looks like you're holding your hands in the shape of a conch shell shock. Conch shells are often blown before these purification ceremonies in India and so your hand positioned in this new drug does resemble a conch. Shell for purification. It's to clean out all that stagnant energy. And all those distractions that can inhibit your memory. So you're going to hold your hands right in front of yourself your palms facing your chest and then take the fingers on your right hand and encircle your left thumb so you're encircling your left them with the fingers on your right hand and then you're going to touch your laughed index finger. That's extended upward with your right thumb and this kind of forms a little seal or closure so this is the Mutiara for today again. If you don't do it focus on purifying your thoughts so as you settle yourself down and get ready to meditate become aware of the kinds of distracting thoughts you are experiencing just become aware of them name their and notice how they make you feel and notice when they seem to distract you. The most become very familiar with these distractions. These memory inhibitors. If you like. The full half hour guided meditation to go a little more deeply into this weeks series. I would love to invite you for two weeks. Free to the SIPA GNOME. Meditation APP. You receive a memory journal and guide as well as access to over two thousand guided meditations. You are so worth slowing down for..

In today's episode you will be guided in a reflection meditation. Taking a look over your week. Now you may just be joining us in. And how you're doing how you're feeling so easy to numb out or to staff your feelings and so as you meditate you allow yourself to become aware of what's really going on in your life so it's important to do a reflection type of meditation where you go back through your week or even through. Your Day. The Dalai Lama is noted to do this technique daily. So you could do this daily before this episode. I'll guide you as you go back and reflect over your whole week. Now as you do this you will be noticing. Every single thing you did throughout the week you would be meditating quite a while if you did that simply notice the highlights of your week and in particular notice what was difficult for you and why something or someone or some situation was difficult for you may have triggered that experience and how you responded and maybe how you wish you would have responded. This is how you improve. Constant self improvement involves this reflection and also notice what went well for you. Your big wins for the week and notice what triggered those feelings of happiness and peace notice. What makes you tick? This is the true essence of doing a reflection? So as you settle yourself down today calm your mind and your body begin to notice your breath. "This is episode one thousand six hundred and fifty eight. Who Welcome to the daily Meditation podcast? I'm Mary Mickley and I honor you for giving yourself permission to slow down and connect to the best part of who you you are. Have you been able to do that much. This busy often hectic season this time of the year as as we get ready to celebrate many holidays and into the year parties and festivities. I hope you you are allowing yourself to slow down year pace and here you are getting ready to do just that you showed up for yourself today. I honor you for that and in today's episode you are are going to be guided to tap into your intuition for joy this week. You have a special challenge and the challenge is to schedule joy for yourself just as you're a scheduling so many number of things. This time of the year. I challenge you to schedule joy for yourself off schedule. Times where you allow yourself to tap into a deep sense Of Joy not something fleeting such as happiness. That's the main difference between joy and happiness happiness is more fleeting whereas joy is your true sense of peace. That's always within you and when you allow yourself moments of stillness you begin to feel this joy rise up within you and you know what's good. Good for you intuitively. We know we should be doing this or I shouldn't be doing that. We know we don't always follow what it is the best path. But it's there your inner wisdom is there and and so as you go about your days scheduling moment's peace there a few times of of the day when you're most receptive to cues in your environment and that is pretty universal. It's in the morning when you first wake up that morning warning quiet before the rest of the world although maybe up people are not quite moving around engaging their attention. They're focused their energy. So this is the the ideal time to start your day with joy just set for a moment maybe as you you have your coffee or tea or as you commute and close your eyes and I think about what you may need in this particular mount and then feed your neat so when you have the awareness of what you want especially if you practice it on on an ongoing basis you become better and better at meeting your own needs and this provides a sense a deep joy another time of day when in your receptive to your inner joy is in the afternoon this is also a time when people pause SA- middle of the today high noon many people are having lunch and so they're taking a little break and this is a time for you due to sit and reflect on the joy you need this.

"And sixty nine of the daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary Mickley and I honor you for giving yourself this time to slow down and connect to the best part of WHO you are we are at the final episode of our series all about Healy so the sole wounds are five major emotional types of pain that alter your life or how you view your life and yourself those are the emotions of betrayal injustice abandonment rejection and humiliation so these five different emotions can leave you feeling trapped as though your life is forever tall tred in some way and through time you can often begin to come to a clearer understanding of what those experiences may have meant to your life and how they even made us stronger and that is the goal when we are experiencing a soul wound we come to a crossroads where we can either feel more empowered by what has happened to us over time and by learning and understanding how you can move word or we often feel disempowered and this of course depends on the particular event or Roland you're dealing with many of them are very deep and seemingly insurmountable the first reaction often retaliation and then usually there's a deep sadness and grieving period and then your anger can soar again and again and it's like a roller coaster managing so loans and then eventually you can begin to notice other qualities in your life that feature soul rather than crush and these saloons are crushing and heavy throughout the series you've explored about a hero's journey a hero who takes these crushing moments and turns them into Oh points in their life that defined who they are and ways they helped others through their own soul wound journeys that's not always the case though sometimes we don't feel like a hero or we don't want to on a hero's journey we may want our former life back before this soul we may miss someone who's hurt us deeply even though we should not ever even want to see that person again Seoul wound and can be messy they usually are messy there's no clear path through Solondz because everyone's wound is so unique but there are different acts you can do to help you manage your Solos and and these are done before you even experienced a solo and and if you are going through through a deep soul wound this technique will help you to pull yourself out of the pain and that is when you give yourself a weekly reflection it's during the times of your life when you review how you're living your life and you notice what's working well and what's not going so well and then you this what you would have done differently and what you could do to improve your life and so you gain some important takeaways about yourself when you do a weekly reflection and that's the way I end every single seven days series it's where you celebrate the big wins of the week and you notice and learned The Times where you feel like maybe you failed or you made a mistake and you do this without the judgment without regret but with an open heart to learn so as you settle yourself down and get ready you to meditate today reflect on the week and notice those soul wounds.

"This is episode one thousand seven hundred and eighty two welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary Mickley. And here you are getting ready to give yourself a little more peace, energy and clarity. Whether you are seated getting ready to meditate or you may be out walking doing errands as you listen to this episode. It's all good. We all start somewhere as we begin our meditation journey honor the process and honor where you are on this journey. In today's episode. We continue with our theme forgiveness one of the most important qualities you could, cultivate, and also one of the most difficult qualities you will discover an affirmation you can do as you meditate today. And as you go about your day, I recommend you repeat the affirmation in the morning when you wake up to start your day and in the evening when you get ready to drift off to sleep. So that you carry within you. A sense of what you're focusing on this week. This piece this freedom. Your affirmation is I am free. And what? Forgiveness entails is to let go of a bird in your carrying to let go have agreed Vince, you're harboring, and you can even feel as though you are entitled to feel this anger or hatred. Or sadness because of what happened to you outside of your control. And you may even feel entitled to rant and rave to cry to pound your fists. As you process. Your pain? If you could. Instead manager pain by relying on and folly back on your best qualities those strongest qualities your highest essence that you focused on in yesterday's episode. You can go back and listen to that. If you haven't done so already if you listen to yesterday's episode as you settled yourself down to meditate your technique for the day was to focus on those qualities such as maybe you have a gift for making people laugh or smile. Maybe you're very orderly untidy. Maybe you. Our great friend or parent take these positive attributes and deepen this will help you overcome and manage the burdens you carry the grievances. You harbor. Is it easy? It's not. That's why it's a journey forgiveness is not a one time done event. It is an ongoing journey where you aspire to your highest qualities or you descend into what can feel like a pet. That you can't climb out of. And you may find yourself acting in ways you never ever thought you can act or doing things that don't represent who you really are. And you can continue in a cycle. Like this for months years. It could even become your new way of living. So when something happens to you that causes you pain, and you didn't deserve it. But when it happens, you must make a choice as to whether or not you will ascend into the far reaches of your soul, digging deeply for those qualities, you really want to be feeling you really want to be expressing that you want your life to represent. Such as kindness love gratitude, compassion. Or? You may choose to descend. To where you are in mashed and hatred, and anger, and resentment we all have all of these qualities. We are all humans experiencing life things. We can't always control bad things can happen to good people and good things can happen to people who don't seem as though they're so good. So you can set yourself free from descending that long descent and the lower you descend the harder. It is to pull yourself out of that pit. So in your meditation today, focus on your best qualities ascend to those qualities. That's your true essence, so you really are. And as you do so I'll share with you, the affirmation know that if you wanna go more deeply into this series with thirty minute guided meditations as well as a journal, customized around this week's important theme of forgiveness and a slowdown guide

"This is episode one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight welcome to that daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary Mickley and welcome back. We are on day two of our series to cleanse your body. In each episode this week you will discover a meditation technique, you can do as you meditate. Or as you go about your day. Whether you are seated on your meditation cushion, or in your chair or you're right in the midst of your busy day in today's episode. You will discover an affirmation I encourage you to repeat every morning and every evening throughout this weeks series. Affirmations are powerful way to live. Your intention to keep your mind focused on what you're doing this week. We always explore a theme each week. And this allows you to go deeply into a particular quality to enhance your life. So as you cleanse, your body this week, you will be a lining your body with your mind, the mind body integration that we now know exists science shows us that there really isn't much of a body brain barrier that the mind and the body function together. So your body's alignment influences. Your thoughts and your thoughts. Influence the way you carry yourself in the way, you hold your body. I'd like you to do a little experiment right now. Go ahead now and straighten your spine and notice how you feel with your spine straightened not in an exaggerated way where your back is arched. When you hyper extend your back and put your head up in the air with your chin tilted upward it. Can create within you more ego attachment or pride so carry your body with your head firmly on your shoulders where your head is not leaning too far forward or too far backward or tilted upward or tilted downward. Keep your head straight squarely on your shoulders when your chin is tipped upward again that emphasizes more egocentric thoughts. And when your chin is tilted downward and your shoulders are slumped downward. You feel? Moore defeated or you feel self doubt or discouragment. So keep your head squarely on your shoulders. You know, our heads are pretty heavy. So when you lean a little too far forward with your head or too far backward with your head that can exert as much as seventy five percent more pressure on your spine. So do your back a favor and a lying your head squarely over your shoulders in a natural way. So now that you've experienced in your body. How your posture can influence your thoughts and your attitude? Go ahead, and do this experiment with your eyes. Look out street in front of you. This is where you're gathering information. This is where you can become distracted by what you see. And all the things going on around you. If you shift your eyes downward, you can feel as subtle shift where you feel that doubt or fear or discouragment. Go ahead and shift your eyes downward now in notice that. To feel that it's powerful now shift your eyes upward and notice your thoughts. Become uplifted.

"You're listening to episode eight hundred and thirty three or welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I congratulate you for being here for giving yourself this time to sit down and spend a few minutes or even longer meditating. I'm Mary Mickley. And I'm a meditation guide who shares a different meditation every single day on the podcast and each meditation. I customize around a weekly theme. So you get to explore a particular topic in depth. So you can really master it. And in today's meditation you're going to be guided in his soothing meditation to help you experience silence. Because our theme this week is pure meditation. And it follows up with last week's theme, which was inner stillness, and you discovered many ways to experience stillness and guided you through meditations well this week I want you to explore your own inner stillness. So I'll be guiding you, but I'd like you to really experience and become comfortable with and familiar with your inner silence. And this is sometimes a little bit more challenging than you think. It might be because you may be thinking that when you sit down to meditate, you should just instantly feel calm. But that's not always the case. In fact, that's. Often, not the case, if you're a longtime meditators, I think, you know, this already when you sit down to meditate. Allow yourself to transition at your own pace into a place where you feel this inner silence and don't try to force yourself to be calm or talk yourself into being calm allow yourself to unfold to this silence and stillness within yourself. Now also on Friday's this is for Friday's meditation. Although you can listen to the meditations in any sequence. You don't need to follow them in any order. I always share on Fridays and herbal tea that can benefit you in a similar way as do the meditation techniques, and so you'll regarded through meditation as well as discovering a herb to help you out. Well, I want to also mention that you can find all the meditations and references and resources that I share over on my website at CYP and dot com. That's S. I P A N D O M dot com. And there you can find an invitation to a free private Facebook group that you are invited to join and it's a group of meditators from around the world, and you can reach out ask questions find inspiration and to join that you can find that on the website or you can go to my Facebook page at Sipa Nome and just send me a message. That's what a lot of people do, and I will gladly at you to this group just say Hello, please add me to the group, and I'll do so. So with your inner stillness meditation. Let's talk about the herb for today before your guided in the meditation now, this is an herb that's going to benefit you when you sit down and you want to experience a silent. Silence. Your inner silence, but you may be feeling a little fidgety or distracted by thoughts will this. Herb can be an herb to support you. But as always with any herb or any technique. I share you wanna make sure that is the right one for you. So you might wanna check with your physician just to make sure that any herb that I talk about on the podcast won't cause issues with medications, you're taking of course, don't take the herb if you're pregnant or nursing. And certainly don't give these herbs to children. You always wanna make sure you check with your physician. So the I'm sharing information with you about today is rodeo LA now, this may be an exotic herb for you. It's not likely one you'll find in your regular grocery store, and you may or may not find it at a natural food store. You will find it. If you go online, and I love mountain rose herbs the best, but you can find this online, and organic, of course, is what I always recommend
