Race for No. 1 pick in 2020 NFL Draft: Joe Burrow to the Bengals becomes the trendy pick

"I just don't think that Joe burrow necessarily says the things that he said being a little wishy washy about committed the bangles before this and that all goes away because of the scouting combine his want to throw gasoline on the fire eight maybe he again maybe he wants to challenge we had Carson Palmer on the show radio row Superbowl week he said I was gonna get drafted number one overall people told me don't go to the bangles there losing organization I said I've got I'm good enough to change it there he said look looking back there was a youthful arrogance about me I thought I could change it I realized I learned I could not so perhaps Joe burrows in the same boat but perhaps Schober also is getting other information or other direction from his father his dad played professional football his dad played football in the CFL his dad has been a football dad it's distinctly possible is dad knowing the ins and out of an NFL career or a pro football career says you know what you don't want to go to the bangles and let's get you somewhere else which is exactly what Archie manning did so this is no slam against Bengals fans of this city of Cincinnati you know they're no worse or better this is no worse or better than many other cities in the NFL this is simply about can you trust the ownership namely Mike brown to support you to build a winner Joe burrow is the best quarterback in this draft by a long shot he's the best player because the numbers he put up last year he's also the best back because of two ways injury Joe burrow in a quarterback league is the best quarterback in this year's draft so you know he's got some leverage there and does he have faith that Mike brown who is renowned in the NFL as a cheapskate does he have the faith that Michael brown will do enough that we had to go on the show late last week and he absolutely was adamant that the idea the narrative that the Bengals don't wanna win is silly just look at the playoff berths that they made the playoffs seven times under Marvin Lewis and that if you make the playoffs that many times and you draft as well as they do which they do draft very well then you shouldn't be criticized for not trying to

Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?

"Three head. Coaching spots have been filled this week. But none of those. Three coaches were minorities while the Rooney rule has been followed. Some are beginning to believe that minority forty candidates are not being taken seriously for the open jobs and anonymous African American. NFL Assistant Coach said that the League has quote finally shown. It's not the place as for black men to advance. It's ridiculous it's disgusting. We can sell tickets and make plays but we can't lead Shannon. Why isn't the Rooney rule role working? Well I think until skip this diversity thing yeah. Diversity is a great great to talk about but until you get someone the leadership position that says you know what. I don't just want to talk about it. I want to be about it so until you get older ships that actually wants to put some substance to this and this is what that you're GonNa get now if the general manager there's one general manager that's what minority and that's CR- Chris greer in Miami. There's zero owners that are it shouldn't say minorities. I guess because shot con radically a minority. But when you get the gist of what I what. I'm trying to say until leadership gets more diverse. You're I'm not gonNA have a more diverse hiring background skills. This was puzzling to be. Is that Eric. Enemy has the exact Zac job that Matt Nagy had negative and call plays any recall. Please man they can get the job. Doug Peterson sedinko plays true. Recall to play around Rivera's on but Ron Rivera was not the defensive coordinator in Philly. He he became a D. coordinator what's he got to the D. Coordinator in Chicago. You are you in San Diego. Yeah but he got his getting these enter coaching tree. Eric B enemy has the exact same job. That Matt Nagy Doug Peterson has and he's not getting opportunity is spirit but this. I don't really think that they go into it. Unless you incentivize this. Okay if you how minorities kill we maybe you have an extra three to five five dollars and cap space. That's the only thing that resonates with these owners because I get it skipped if I spent three billion. Let's just say I spent three billion dollars for a restaurant run. You Go tell me what the hell I need to cook. Cook whatever I WanNa Cook it there. And that's how they look at it. Jerry Jones spent money for this. This this mind you oh tell me why should get killed but but this notion that Oh and they brought Muhiba Marvin Marvin Lewis. He brought him in to to do that. Situation wasted the same with the giants the giants they had irebi enemy. They what Joe Judge Chris Rashard Rashard. Excuse me Chris Restoring. Yeah so now. Now we're down to one. Vacant Cleveland Reunion. I'm talking about how good already know. Angle get no frills JAYCO network skill. He already interviewed there. So you would now now the take my name off the leader and solid rubber solid. Take my name off the list. Because he's GonNa get Mad Max two and a half years if you're lucky that seems to instead that's all Jimmy can stomach now if you look at it they keep these. You look at Mike Patton. You look at all the guys they've had and these guys have had I think. Hugh Jackson stayed the longest at two and a half years. But everybody's been two years the list huge only two and a half two and a half long but you get you get these other guys you get pretty kitchens and you look at patent and you look at a I forget. Just give all these one year jazz. WE ACHE AAC CLEVELAND. That in Cleveland of the North this skill ruining rules a joke. I get it. You know minorities Cadillac. An affirmative action thanksgiving. Yeah but in -firmative action. I guess it's federal dollars. You'RE NOT GONNA get the money if you don't do this. The NFL is a is a private entity. So what can you do. What Ki- what can you give? Nfl Do not the so. I have been tracking this for a long time because one of my best friends is John. Wooten who is now the retired leader of the Fritz Pollard. Alliance and he was the driving force behind instituting the Rooney rule as I hiring practice in the national shirow all league and John's point from the start was I just need interviews because if a young assistant coach gets interviewed a couple of times times it gets reported in his name gets out there and if another owner sees that name enough over maybe a couple of years hiring cycles else maybe an owner says chee that guy. He's getting a lot of interviews. Maybe I should bring in. Maybe I should be more open minded to him. But if you're GONNA curse because if I get a a lot of interviews and I'm not getting hired was wrong why here the me getting hired cave liability with that. But John's point in the end was I'd rather have interviews than not have interests. Okay okay so let's go back to the stat that I use last week. The Institute of Diversity and Ethics In sports twenty nine thousand nine racial and gender report card for the National Football Bali. The League got actually an a plus for hiring of color. Assistant coaches right a sit a plot. Oh that's progress right. It got a deep loss for hiring head coach of Color White eight-plus assistance d-plus head head coaches. There's a big disconnect there and it shows you. That owners are fine. Oh hire two or three black assistant fine with that but nope nope. I don't want to head coach to be black. Right gives quite to the restaurant you can cook. You'll be in the bank but Michelle not the bridge. I roll up now okay so when I texted back and forth last we can use this last week of John Wooten just beside himself now. He is devastated by this this development his point was that only one. GM Chris Grin Miami. Point out is use. John's word heartbreaking because it could start with the GM right a black GM of or of color could be more open minded to say to the owner. Hey listen this guy is really bring him in. Let me let me introduce him to you right. The conduit to the owner can be stronger. Iran have I don't know six or eight black. GM right right. We've had them around the league four or but all of a sudden there's a dearth to rape Barma with Barma within Cleveland. He'd Gone Rick Smith who I know very well be in Denver. He interviewed for The Washington. Ashington John Daniel Snyder said head coach could be a head coach. Basically general manager after the Washington like who are the head coaching after the draft. The General Mattis. Okay so sometimes there is group think or shink sheep among the owners because in the end they do want to win right. And if they're looking around the League league and that black head coaches really successful they say well I want one of those. I want to go that direction right well. There was one black head coach who started to have success late in the year ear and he happened to be allied with Chris. Clear in Miami and Brian Floors off the Patriots. Well they started out all time badge for about what seven seven games fifty. Nine seven opening renders and then they basically it felt like they turned the whole roster iside down which they needed to do and then all of a sudden the last nine games they go five and four they upset the eagles and then they went to foxborough and just basically ended the season. I thought for the new New England Patriots playoff teams right. Okay so all the sudden Brian floor floor with the help of Chris greer. They're having big success. It looks like it's headed in the right drug us us but it wasn't enough of a splash to create momentum through the hiring process and right because John Wooden again texted me back with so many names he said we have so many in the pipeline. Who already started with Eric? B Enemy and Chris Rock. I think Chris Shaw Bad Year on defense but when I watch him interviewed when I watch his body language. It's a stunt man he's he's got. CEO Written all over him. He looks like a commanding officer to me. There's not enough black head coaches skip. Because because you look you look at Mike McCarthy guest job he hires the guy that gave him his opportunity coordinator fifteen years ago so you see the circle. We'll skip once you become a head coach. What do you do you go to the combine? You go to say elbow you got your drake. He goes to the coaches meeting and Yada Yada Yada and to connect with the boom boom boom right right. So if I'm not in that Lou. How do I get into loops? Because a rid of staff they said eighty percent of the jobs are never posted so in other worth people get hired somebody a friend or family member is not what you know who you know There in live the roof. It does house so to finish John. Bruton's list of pipeline candidates being AMEE. Chris Rashard Robert Sala. He threw Jim Caldwell on his list. Is Jim Colwell was highly successful zestful. Jim called wheel lost his jaw. Going nine and seven in two years Matt Patricia has nine total win and he's still got a job now he goldwell still doesn't have another job he in four years. He went to the playoffs twice in the last year he went nine and seven and they said well you know we need to move in a different direction. uh-huh and the guy that's replaced has yet to win nine total games in two years. Do you still own a still on the clock. Okay Steve wilks got one shot in time. I'm one year in Arizona and he was gone. He's now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland which probably didn't help his cause this year that much but I don't hear his name no in Cleveland right right on the list. And then there's Terrel Austin who's young stripes potential star coach and John Wootton into his list with Marvin Lewis who he thinks deserves a second shy right. Okay so Jerry. Jones did observe in qualified for the Rooney rule by bringing in. I Marvin Lewis. I think Jerry was shrewd operating waiting there. Because he didn't pick a young like like Chris Rashard type interview him because of Jerry had interviewed a young potential upcoming head. Black coach right. There's more pressure on Jerry. What was wrong with right? What's the problem exactly? He went to Marvin Lewis because he thinks Marvin Lewis is kind of old news right right. He got his longtime time shot in Cincinnati. Listen I still think Marvin did a good job job seriously. Yes okay he went. Oh and seven in the playoffs but still it was Andy Dalton Alton you re you with covering the NFL and you remember what Cincinnati before. Marlene got there was John. Carter number one overall. You Got David Cleland with the fourth. The fourth picket. You got big day to day and Wilkerson purse around the second pick in the draft year after year after a year people. Forget what I know. Marvin didn't win a playoff game. But they weren't even getting close to the playoffs for Marvin got there. No so I was disappointed in Jerry because you know my heart Hartz. I'd love to see Jerry Jones higher black head coach and I think I probably won't live long enough or Jerry will live long enough to know.

"So and then after the season you know, he reached on right away this year. And so, you know, we I came over here couple times, spent some time and talked and so forth. And he visited with his coaches to what you know what role they could see I could feel from what they had or, or could maybe even developed into because I thought that was important that these guys here had a comfort level with everything. And so then the chance to come over and is with the coaches as well. So it's I'm excited about it. What, what did they say that sold you there because you had opportunities to do plenty of things right? You could have joined television network. You could've I'm sure probably consulted for an NFL team. You've probably could worked in NFL for all their a lot of things that you could have done. So what did you hear from them that drew you to the college game? Well, I think the energy here, that's in this building, obviously, we know that's what, what would Herman's all about that, if you, you walk in this building, and, and the, the coaches that he has in place here and the way they go about their jobs and so forth? It's impressive. And so I was really been impressed with that. And you know this couple of times I had a chance to come over and spend time here, obviously, I have a long relationship with the athletic director here, Ray Anderson, and the job that he's doing and his vision for what the future of ASU athletics. And as you football is and so rain, I had had a conversation or two. And, and, and so it's been able to to twelve fall into place, Margaret, devante birth, the former sun, devil have anything to say about you going back to his alma Mata. He was excited he he's known about this for about a month. And so he was he and his is beyond say they both went to school here. And so I got folks up from them right away. So. That I was glad to hear that they work. I did about it. Who would have thought that for the two thousand nineteen season that you would be a special adviser for hours, state involved, his birth would be playing linebacker for the Oakland Raiders. Well we're trying to get him to be able to do right now. It's just play linebacker put Oakland Raiders. So we stay in pretty good contact. How strange has it been for you to be out of the NFL? It really happened been. It's been avid. I haven't missed it. I'm enjoying everything that I had an opportunity to do. I enjoyed working for they until they pull the carpet from underneath. And, but it was fun. It was fun talking to coaches. It was fun being around the players and AMI opportunity. I was getting the learn a lot of new things. You know, spend time day as you know, up ESPN and days with the NFL network. So I was getting a chance to, to meet other people and do things, and, and people were very, very helpful to me, and help mentor me, and to maybe something different, but this is been exciting the, you know, I just had to go through those other things and decide what, what made sense for the future. And do you think you will miss it this fall when it starts up? I, I don't know I'm gonna have enough with Boeing, my hands right here to keep me very busy. I know you'll be the help out cokes there. But when the first Sunday of the NFL season, rolls around will you be so wrapped up in Arizona state's affairs or will you have a chance to watch the Bengals. Well, I don't think I will look, I will be watching the Bengals, you know, other than the fact that the players that are, are near and dear to my heart there. That's it. You know the players that I brought there. But other than that, that's my only interest in, in the Bengals went, they're doing is the players are successful when you bring up near and dear to your heart..

"Job openings this off season as well. The only one that surprised me was Marvin Lewis. I why Rio now's the time did the photos get burned did like the the Bengals somehow find a way to hack into the cloud and just. Either no backup. I mean. I'm watching a great show called the bodyguard on Netflix. I don't know much about espionage. But I know this people make copies are you? Sure. You got all of them has anyone drag DMZ sports in the last twenty four hours. That's a lot of. And there's some interesting jobs on that list. United buddy today. Trying to make the argument that the jet should go higher Adam gays, and my response was are you sure he's gonna bring Jay Cutler into the equation. I think he's an engine had a lot of these guys are going to get second chances. I really really hope Marvin Lewis is not one of them. Every other one of those guys I think you can make an argument on the line should get another chance. Marvin Lewis is not that guy. I'm not trying to dance on the grave of someone's career. But you go that long and failed to win a playoff game. It's long pastime that someone else got a shot number four. On saturday. The first two games of this year's college football playoffs took place. Number two, Clemson dominated number three Notre Dame thirty three in the combo in Dallas quarterback. Trevor Laurence do for three hundred and twenty seven yards and three touchdowns while the in defense held the Irish to only two hundred and forty eight yards of offense in the nightcap. Number one, Alabama beat number four Oklahoma forty five to thirty four in the Orange Bowl. Bama went out to a twenty eight to nothing lead in the second quarter. But the students were able to bounce back and make it a game in the fourth quarter to a tongue of completed twenty four of his twenty seven passes for three hundred and eighteen yards four touchdowns zero interceptions while Murray had four hundred seventeen total yards and three total touchdowns. This sets up another edition of Alabama versus Clemson this coming Monday night, look on doesn't take a genius to predict Alabama was gonna play. Clemson, stu. I'm sorry that I was right. You me and trace had a little bit of an argument on the air. I thought team is going to get crushed. And you guys did though right? Team back. I'm sorry that I was right. And you're wrong. "Underperforming players must be worried at this point finally says, Sean Blankenship yet. I think that's the that's the other thing. I just wanna dress real quick before we get out of. Here's the yes, that's my son. He celebrating Marvin Lewis. The Marvin Lewis firing as well. But the that's the other thing to to talk about is, you know, there are a lot of veterans on this roster that might be a little uneasy about their future with this club. I think Drake her Patrick should be a guy that that might be worried. Bontes birthed is another guy who should be worried about his future with the team and believe it or not I think Andy Dalton is the guy who should be worried about the future with his with this team as well. Because usually with a new head coach comes new quarterback. And you know, the Bengals have had a couple of quote unquote, new quarterbacks when they drafted Palmer and they drafted Andy Dalton but I mean, they haven't had the coaching turnover. But at the at that point they needed quarterbacks they don't necessarily need a quarterback at this point at least while they need at least a backup. But a lot of people think that it's time to turn the page on the dull narrow as well as Louis are in that can coincide that could coincide with Louis leaving Cincinnati is is Dalton leaving Cincinnati or Dalton being given a really short leash. The bangles have the the eleventh overall pick this year who knows if they wanna move up for a guy like Dwayne Haskins, or if Cuyler Murray ends up deciding to play football, if they wanna go that route, you know, who knows what's going to happen there. I mean, they could do that. You know, have that guy waiting in the wings behind Dalton and miss short leash under a new head coach. We'll see there are other holes on this Rosser that need to be heavily. Addressed though linebacker. I think wide receiver depth starting guys are pretty good. But behind them is is something to be noted obviously offensive line. There's still some issues on the right side of that offensive line that need to be sorted out. So. Do you wanna say take that top pick and say, okay. Well, we're going to go for a quarterback, which is in a full luxury pick. But is a luxury pick of sorts and forgo a linebacker forgo an offensive lineman that sort of thing, I don't know that's gonna that's gonna depend on the the mindset of a head coach. There are some other names floating out there aside from Hugh Jackson bands Josev, Eric b enemy some guys at the college ranks, you know, I mentioned Mike McCarthy mentioned, you know, Bruce Arians, potentially. There's also Adam gays. He's the guy that you know, could be could his name's floating around a little bit. There's some other guys out there. And I don't who knows. Maybe it maybe there may be some lateral moves in terms of coordinator, leaving one. One team coming to the Bengals we'll see this is the orange black insider Bengals podcast. Appreciate you tuning in live. We wanted to talk about the bangles. The Bengals letting go of Marvin Lewis big news in this is a big turning point in the franchise. You know, this this we will look at this point in time and say that was the best thing this team could have done or that was not the right decision. Because what could happen is instead of finding someone who is a Marvin Lewis or potentially even better than Marvin Lewis. We will we could be sitting here saying while who's gonna be the, you know, two years from now who's going to be the head coach. Now who's going to be head coach now, which is exactly what happened in the nineteen nineties. And I don't think anybody surrounding the Bengals team wants that to happen. So this is very pivotal moment. They have to be very careful who they choose..

"Those were deplorable performances in some of the primetime games just were not prepared at any rate. That's now in the past and the Bengals are looking to move on from Marvin Lewis and a possible new head coach. And you know, there's some there's some questions and comments try and get to here. I love this. When curious how the players feel by Michael Myers in our live YouTube jet. That's that's interesting because yesterday I was thinking back. I don't know if you remember this or not. But there was a time in a believe it was gosh win was it. They were interviewing Giovanni Bernard. A couple of years ago. I believe it was last year. I can't really remember. It was one of those times where Marvin Lewis dot in extension came back. And they literally broke the news to Bernard on camera. And of course, he was cordial, and oh, really that's cool. Okay. Marvins back, but he wasn't overly jubilant at least not in a. In a moment that seemed to be pretty candid and surprising to him. So I'm I'm curious to know what the Bengals plans are if you're the Bengals players mindsets. Are if you remember also for those of you who follow on Twitter if you follow Carlos Dunlap on Twitter there were a couple of seasons. Especially in twenty believe it's twenty sixteen twenty seventeen. Now this this year, he couldn't really complain. Does. He got a big contract. But in twenty sixteen he put out some cryptic tweets that kinda questioned what the Bengals were doing in terms of free agency helping the team in all of that Marvin Lewis, obviously kinda one of the spearheads of what they were doing or weren't doing in those in those in those facets, so. I think for a lot of those players. I think they liked Marvin Lewis, you know, you saw at the end of twenty seventeen they didn't give up. They had some nice wins at the end of that year. They played hard even though they were decimated. They played hard against the Steelers in week seventeen this year that played hard against the chargers few weeks ago. They played you know, they didn't really give up on mar Louis. They wanted to play for him. But I think I think everybody is kinda like, well, maybe the Louis himself. Maybe it's just all around almost a sense of relief in saying, you know, at this is this is what needs to happen. I got this. Let's see I got this. It was a tweet to me basically asking do. I think that the next coach the Bengals will come. Will this be a Mike Brown higher? Will this be Katie Blackburn higher? Will it be kind of a group higher or or will it still be Mike Brown show? If you remember Mike Brown in a couple of interviews in recent years. He kind of said he's handed off the keys to a bunch of people including Louis, including Katie Blackburn, including Duke Tobin, and he's kind of sat back, and yeah, he's had some say, but he's let them take control. Now Marvin's out of the building. Due Tobin a guy who's been loud for his drafts. Recently is now sitting in it. We're looking at some high picks that have not panned out for the team. So, you know, I'm curious to I think that this will be a Mike Brown higher. I think that he's gonna kind of Sirte more power in. That's that's a little bit. What I'm afraid of with this move from Marvin I think, and I think that's really the only fear is is is not only I guess there's the fear of the unknown in potentially hiring someone that could bring the Bengals back into obscurity. There's also the issue of the bangles potentially a Mike Brown reasserting control and making decisions that are not beneficial to the team. So. And I think that that that might be where we we're headed..

"So there's a lot to there. There's a lot here. There's a lot of history here, obviously and things with the Bengals are now greatly influx. I think a lot of people even up in through yesterday thought, you know, they give Marvin one more year. They'd let him bring in potentially Hugh Jackson bands. Joseph's maybe get, you know, an all-star cast of assistant coaches if you will to potentially come in here and and coach the team going forward. But it seems as if that that's not going to happen that doesn't mean the Vance Joseph or Hugh Jackson aren't part of the long term plans. It just means that you know, they are going to. Move in a different direction, and the Bengals are they've got a lot to sort out here. Because now there there's a lot of questions that now come up about the roster now that Lewis and his quote, unquote, guys are gonna try and get to some questions here at the end. This is going to be a very brief episode here on New Year's let everybody trying to join their holiday. But obviously, this is something we need to talk about. Here's what else we know aside from Lewis being let go and it being a seemingly management decision. So a firing if you will that seems to be. That that's kind of what's going on the Bengals have probably their candidates that they want to interview in that. They're lining up. There seems to be I believe last I checked eight vacancy coaching vacancies around the league. The Packers cardinals bangles the Broncos. You know, among many other. So there are some interesting names out there. Some that have been connected to the Bengals some they have no connections to the Bengals. And you know, that's that's kind of where we're at right now. I want to there. You know? I guess before we get to some questions and comments. I wanna say this, you know there. There's a lot of cynicism. I'm seeing ready in the live YouTube chat. Think it was calling me. Mark bought by Marvin do not hire anyone internal to replace him. So. There's a lot of celebrating with Marvin Lewis exit. And I think that. That's to be expected. But I think we also need to at least take a minute in thank him. Thank Marvin Lewis for what he did for the Cincinnati Bengals. If you were here for the two thousand two season, you remember how dreadful that season was before that the season before Marvin Lewis took over what he did in two thousand three when he didn't two thousand five when he didn't do thousand nine and then obviously from twenty seven through twenty fifteen it's something to be to be marveled at and. You know, this this this is a necessary move. But I think we would be. Not remembering history correctly. If we didn't at least thank Marvin Lewis or have some gratitude some level of gratitude for what he did for the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, you know, this is this is something I've been thinking about a lot this season antidote, and Marvin Lewis are two of the better guys in a league better men in the league in terms of character and whatnot. Yeah. Marvin got terse with the media and all that stuff. But they are two of the better guys in the league and two guys that deserve a championship for the things. They've done for the Bengals in the community. All of that stuff. Unfortunately, I don't know if the skill levels of both of those men in the NFL will translate to championship now Marvin already have one as an assistant. But I'm talking as a head coach. And obviously starting quarterback Andy Dalton so I think we should start kind of by saying thank you to Marvin Lewis for his time in Cincinnati. There was a lot of. Frustrating moments. Some of those were out of his control he didn't control. Carson Palmer getting hurt in the wild card game. He didn't control. Andy Dalton getting hurt in the twenty fifteen season where it seemed like they were poised to make very deep run there as well. So. You can only blame him for so many things. And I you know, there are the other playoff losses though are on him. Right. I mean, the Houston games..

"He's clearly lie to that idea. What five or six games, and there is hottest can be. Did you are in the way that I love to play football run, the football and decent. All no. You don't you say that just because it's a fun thing to say. No. Cool as again, if you win that will put butts in seats, so I have to take that back. But you know, the Bronx tried to do that. Because they didn't have a quarterback. Yeah. That's true. Marvin Lewis is Marvin Lewis hang it up. I got two minutes is Marvin Lewis hanging it up. Go. I just ask you the question. Oh why? No. I don't think he is you. Oh, you think he's coming back is he are they six and ten right or? Yeah. Right. Yeah, they're six and ten. Yes. Eighteen guys on. I r I mean, everybody got hurt this year. Probably still thinks go back to the playoffs. I say, yes. Okay. All right. I got that. We got that going for us. A what was it? What else was going? Oh, I'll part of the ravens go the Browns new head coach. Oh, I think the ravens could absolutely beat the chargers. And I also think the ravens can beat the chiefs. Oh, my goodness gracious. You think do you think Greg Williams should be back next year? Taking too long. You gotta be head over heels in love you have to say yes to that type of thing being engaged. You know, you have to say, yes, you can't think about it. Maybe I should have thought about it more. Six years and one child in baby six years. Thirty. I mean, not yet five, but wait. Thanks. Bye. Mary. I did. That's thirteen. Make sure they fix. Geico. Well, fantastic. All right. Thank you very much. The wonderful adidi king wall. Joining us on the show eight five five two and two four two two seven. I I do think it's that way. I think it's both ways with it is very much a marriage. If you're talking about fire and a guy like if you're talking about having a divorce like you can go through the marriage counseling and things like that. Fine. Maybe you can save it Bill cower saved it. A couple of times fans were calling about even though we know that the Steelers weren't thinking about it just like the aren't with Mike Tomlin. But if you're talking about it probably gonna happen more than likely going to go that way. And if you're talking about hiring, a guy or keeping a guy, and you go if you're thinking like that, it's probably gone. I think Greg Williams has done a terrific job with the Browns. And I think that he's changed the conversation of does prospect A B C or D give us a better shot. Then Greg Williams. I think that's where the conversation has to be getting before it was a let's see who this guy is. And we'll figure it out what it is. And we'll we'll have all this great big broad search. And we'll we'll try to go big game hunting that whole thing. I think it changes now because what Greg Williams has done with the Cleveland Browns. And also, I I gotta Meyer with John Harbaugh has done with the ravens. I think it's fantastic. I would drive over there. Right. I leave the show right now to bring him to Cleveland if I could can't do it. So you'll just have to listen to me coming up next map. Michelle Notre Dame ain't going anywhere can.

"You know, his reprise your next prize coming down the chimney Santa has his his. It's coming down with the big bag. And what does he do? He gives your Marvin fricken. I it's just Jackson. That's. Replace Marvin Lewis Jackson. That would suck. But when you look at the Browns, I think as as good as they played under Williams. I think that they're going to, you know, get a fresh coach in there. I think that there is more of an indictment on Hugh Jackson than it has been as a. You know as a positive for for Greg Williams. So at least two I would make a case that the Steelers should get rid of Tomlin. Absolutely. Yeah. I just don't see that happening. I don. But somebody's got somebody has to fall on the sword. It ain't going to be Brown, and he can blame Levy on bell. But you're blaming yourself. And if you're blaming love EON bell them what happened the first half of the season. When James Connors wild all over already, everyone totally fair. You're ready ousted. Haley. How how long ago how many assistance have to fall on this sword before you eventually say? All right. It's Tomlin that locker room. Who are they going to bring? It doesn't have to be because I will tell you this. There's times where it looks like he has no control. We've seen a ton of drama happened in Pittsburgh, and they usually win double digit games. Now. Now, they're obviously not going to do that. And they may not be in the postseason. You have to give me someone if you're going to say get rid of the guy, you have to give me someone there's many coaches now tell you who I think would be a perfect fit. I don't see it happening. But here's the name for you. Jim harbaugh. Okay. I think that would be a perfect situation for him to come back to the NFL stability talent in place. What do you want to coach up against his brother in the same division? I think it would make for for, you know, a little bit of fun truthful. You don't know how Long John, and I was just going to say, I don't know how long it's brothers either. I don't think Harbaugh is going anywhere. I don't I don't think he's leaving Michigan right now. Because remember Jim went to Michigan. If you leave Michigan even though he's return them to regular season dominance. There's unfinished business there. And he's not taking down Ohio State yet. I think that's tough. To walk away from your alma mater, not that you can't do it. But walkaway right now will one day will Jim Harbaugh. I'll be back in the NFL. I think he will be. I don't think right now to other names for you one Mike McCarthy. Yeah. And we talked about the janitor around here gave us right now, look obviously had on Rogers. But look at that offense was able to do with nobody to throw the football too. I mean, they they turned Davante Adams into a superstar in this league. Imagine what he can do with James Connor with an Antonio Brown with the juju and a quarterback the knows that he's doing that's intriguing and then number could survive with the big ego quarterback. Yes, he knows how to do it and number two. Bruce arians. I know that you broke some news when you had him on your show where Aaron said Cleveland's the place that he wants to go, but we were only talking or you're only talking about current openings. If Pittsburgh opens up there's a possibility that changes. Yeah, that's rough because they did not treat him. Well, on his way out. I Don I here's the thing with Bruce. And I've had this conversation with Bruce before on the air. And you you alluded to it. He said the only job he'd ever want to return for his the Browns. That's it. Because he even said he goes, I don't miss football coaching misses. The relationships the way they treated him on the way out. I think that would be very tough for him to return. Their Bruce Arians has also open Lee spoke about how much he has organization. So I can't imagine him reuniting. Would that Steelers ownership? Yeah. I'm with you on that one. I don't think they get rid of Tomlin and then carbos back next year. The Browns and the bangles are a tough one. Most likely I had to go. Yes. Or no on Williams. I don't think he's back. But I think there's a real chance. But I don't think he's back, and you don't actually think this is it for Marvin Lewis said do I think they they make a new role for him. And they go somewhere else it just better not be who Jackson. You have no clue what you're doing. If you go to you, Jack, you're taking the over. Yes. I'll take the over Darwin's awkward you on that one way over. I think as a crazy for instant Denver you Miami. We're talking just the AFC north just the AFC..

And used to used to have to listen when I was a kid used to curb unload right before night before big event carbo load, just pasta pasta pasta. She's not good for you. No, no. That's like eating candy bars. You're just pounding it becomes sugar. That's time goes on. I think we figure out a lot of stuff not everything. But we figured out a little we do we do figure out a lot of stuff. Did you see Baker mayfield's act yesterday? Yes. Which think? The playing is fine. I just I don't understand that Hugh Jackson thing. I think that's the part that do don't kick a guy when he's down. I just I Baker will will regret it down the road. If you ever grows up just don't do it. The guy was fired. Don't tell another man that he shouldn't go work. He had a relationship in Cincinnati. Marvin Lewis friend of his right? That's what Doug you notice from from the coach and family you come from. They take care of each other coach, whatever you needed gig, whatever, you know, what I mean bagels. The only the Bengals are only organization dumb enough that if Marvin Lewis retired. They might give fight they might give Jackson the job who was a terrible head coach, Mike Brown. That's Mike brownies. Terrible own. Well, he just looked and I've talked to like in anywhere else. Marvin Lewis would have been fired after last year season. But it's it's Cincinnati Owen seven in the playoffs. I agree should've been fired us. Ago. You know? Well, look, I don't know if because of the play offs to me, ultimately you out to try to win a championship. That's what the goal should be. You are. But we forget they were Cleveland before they were they were Cleveland before Cleveland why puts before he got the job. But Sam Weiss they went to the Super Bowl with boomer size say no and the mega always they weren't. They weren't always bad. But then when Marvin took over they were cleaning, they were the laughing style. I get over the bungles. I get they were the bungles, but without getting kind of lost in that deal. Look the Baker thing it's pretty obvious that in addition to not being a good head coach. He didn't want Baker mayfield's number one overall pick. Right. Isn't that? What it feels like? I don't I don't know. Maybe I thought when they when they made the trade and did Hugh Jackson may Detroit for tyrod Taylor. Was that his it was at the GM and the organization, I'm sure it is. I'm sure it was the whole thing. And that happens obviously before the draft. Right. That's probably Hugh Jackson going. Hey, look, I got I got a win games to keep my job. And you get up a quarterback who had led the bills to the playoffs put him or the organization as well. When you get a rookie quarterback that franchise had won one game in two year. I'm with you and in steady, and if you ask him most, I would say you asked twenty eight twenty nine maybe thirty one teams they would have taken darnold. Over Baker Mayfield. No doubt about it. But Baker Mayfield has this Doritos bag of chips on his show. I get it. And he's like, look you didn't even want me. And then you wouldn't play me you and give me a chance to compete for the job. But you can't take personal like that. I mean, that's that's not the reality. Is he does and everyb- people? Everyone takes personal. But he's allowing us to see that. He's taking personal my my point is by by the outward reaction to Hugh Jackson. I just think it's disrespectful. I a grown, man. Don't do that. Correct. And an I think he's I think it's being. I agree with you. He shouldn't have said what he said about Hugh Jackson, take another job. I don't think he should take the shots or stare down the sideline on the other hand. I do think it all works in Cleveland. Oh, my do. I think it works for Cleveland. Cleveland is Cleveland is a town that the best athlete. They have ever produced has left them twice. I get it. K Cleveland Cleveland is a football franchise that this is not even the real Cleveland Browns. They left and went to Baltimore like everyone out on. Right. So they have..

"Next thing, you know, it's fourth and thirty for Indianapolis. It's fun to sort of observe all the games taking place at one time. I Lamar Jackson throw to somebody attempt to throw titan Mark Andrews, hit a defender in the back hawk the mar a thrower is still a work in progress. Yes, worker progress is putting it lightly. I mean, he just has to, you know, a lot of time with quarterbacks no matter how good or or, you know, whatever the scouting report says about you. We can't see you at your best until you're comfortable. And when I watch him throw the football when I watch him try to dissect defenses. I don't see a guy who feels comfortable yet. Which is why I think you've. Verse two running a lot because that's the thing that makes them feel the most confident so he asked to become comfortable as a passer, and then we can kind of make the determination of whether or not he has the ability of the thrower right on cue. I see him rush for about eight yards for the Baltimore Ravens him or Josh Allen. Who's been the more impressive runner to you. Because Allen's doing it on non design runs. Lamar. The design stuff. Yeah. I mean, I think they're both impressive. I think Josh Allen is just the one that surprises me more. I didn't expect him to be able to Russia the level. He is because he didn't Lamar Jackson had incredible Russian production. Yeah. We knew it. But not nearly what Lamar Jackson exactly we've got an update here. Coming up. We have an update from the Bengals do we have this. We have the update yet. I'll take it myself Joe mixing the Cincinnati bangles on fourth down plunges into the end zone. Hawk fourteen. Nothing to fight Marvin Lewis. Now that they're getting after man didn't after China China. Make a case here. Trying to make the case are the Bengals for I don't know maybe saving Marvin job like that. To write technically. But it doesn't look good five eight they are technically in hunt. But it's gonna take a lot of work. I guess like are they playing are. They playing to save Marvin job right now is that is that your interpretation of what's left in this season. It's a very good question. I'll have to take the break to to figure out. Okay. Good enough wants to talk about that later on throughout the show. We continue to see if they can lay it on the Oakland, Raiders, the raiders who've been frisky recently, not so frisky today. The Bengals are like you don't come to our house tried to play our game and win. Instead, you might lose her down fourteen to nothing. We have a ton of actual again nine early games in the NFL not necessarily a ton of marquee matches put me and hawk. We make a marquee for you and coming up next. Did Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy deserve to get fired?

"Is not to say that Mike McCarthy didn't deserve to be a head. Coach is not to say that he did a terrible job because he did it. He's proven to be a good coach. And it may very well be that he deserves to be someplace else. I'm certainly not gonna sit up here and say that Mike McCarthy doesn't deserve to be a head coach in the league as long as Jason Garrett, and Marvin Lewis is still head coaches in the league, I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. Especially Marvin Lewis. These Jason gave wanna play off game is more than I can say for Marvin Lewis hasn't wanna play off game sixteen years, Mike McCarthy's a Super Bowl champion. I think that ultimately the indictment against Mike McCarthy is very very simple, ladies and gentlemen. When you are coaching. Arguably the greatest talent we have ever seen at the quarterback position in NFL history. You gotta have more than one Super Bowl championship in more than one Super Bowl appearance to show for it. You have to have that Mike because he didn't have that. You can't have Arron Rogers questioning the play calling. You can't have him chagrined over the personnel. That surrounding him ask why that's the biggest defense that I have for Mike McCarthy. He he isn't the only one that needs to needed to go. I think I don't have any problem with Mark Murphy, the presidency yo for the Green Bay Packers going. I mean, you don't wanna had Ted Thompson up in there as a GM before you put. We assign them to consultants position. Brian Khuda Kint good a cancer. We don't know what he's capable of. He clearly wants to move into different direction and have his own guy. That's fair enough. But under Mike are under under a Murphy, you had a regime that did not respect ariza's enough. Didn't show him the courtesy and respect you deserve. You got rid of the quarterbacks. Coach alexan- pelt. You didn't even consult with Andrew with Rogers. How do you have a quarterback coach and not consult with Amer Rogers before letting him go? How do you do that? How do you do that? I remember one time I was told Aaron Rodgers walked into their office. They told him to get the hell out shut up. You play. We run organization. That's how this works really, really. I want to walk around here and act like you know, what Aaron Rodgers listen. He's not having a greatest year. Yeah. Absolutely. Right. He's not in that. Absolutely. Right. Eras is not having the greatest year. Nobody's gonna make that defense. He's not gonna make that defensible himself. He ain't blind. He could see understands, but we're talking about eras who will who will saunter who will cruise into the hall of fame first ballot without question. And gentlemen, Aaron Rodgers has twenty one touchdowns and just one interception on this season. And that's a down year for him. That's how lethal he is. That's how great he is. We are talking about a man with a career ninety eight and fifty five and one record. We are talking about a man, then it's completed sixty four point eight percent of his passes. First career. We are talking about a man that has done this at the frozen tundra lamb Lambeau Field for his career, and he is still passing over forty two thousand yards. We are talking about a man that's exceeded. What some would label top-five quarterback in NFL history who's passed over seventy thousand yards and Brett farve. And nobody would tell you that bradfo was better than that Rogers. That's how great Aaron Rodgers is. That's how great Aaron Rogers has been. And so guess what? If he's not feeling a coach, if he's not happy, or whatever the case may be you better pay attention.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh emphatically defends Lamar Jackson's throwing ability

"Don't run forever in the NFL sooner or later, they get hooked. Then ravens head coach. John Harbaugh was adamant in his defensive Jackson. Paul's out there running around. You can do. All right. Thrower. He's wrong. And kitchen throws a quarterback. All right. He's a quarterback. Questions with. So I don't. The question we will continue to see a Mark Jackson his AAC learner back. It was clear that that message was not just for Marvin Lewis. I mean, this is obviously a question that he's been answering or hearing comments about over a long period of time. And now he wants to address it. I don't even think he was looking to address that question. I think he woke up that morning. And he had decided he was going to do that. No matter what questions he was asked. If you see that whole footage the question he was asked was not even directly about Lamar Jackson the past. There was like is he going to pass more and he went on his diatribe. I think what he wanted to do right there within a message to his team and send a message to Lamar Jackson. I think John Haubert is one of the best coaches in the NFL, particularly at the inner locker room dynamics. And he's taking this opportunity to speak directly to his team. And let them know that he has their back, and I think Lamar Jackson as I mentioned earlier, I think he's going to be their quarterback in the for the foreseeable future. Clearly, he's the quarterback over the future. But does that future mean right now there's a team in playoff contention? You believe he keeps that job the rest of this year. I believe right now they are technically in the playoffs. Lamar Jackson keep that job for the rest of the season because I also agree with and while all of

"That's four sixty two. You can also interact with us via social media on Twitter at under center NBC or tweet me if you care to at. Mike. Possessiveness M. I C Marvin Lewis. Fires. Tear lost in is defensive coordinator after becoming the first team in the Super Bowl era. To give up three consecutive games of fiber hundred five hundred or more yards on defense, gone. Then you pick up the phone, and who do you? Call your buddy, Hugh Jackson. Yeah. Course, the Browns kicked into the curb and Lewis made it official today announced the Jackson will begin his third stint in Cincinnati. Having been named a special assistant to the head. Coach Jackson statement, quote, I'm pleased to have the opportunity joined the bingles this season. There's a lot of town on this team. And I look forward to doing my part to help it finish strong this season quote now there would speculation by the way. As Marvin Lewis spoke with the media yesterday after we found out tarot Austin was going to be shown the door. Marvin Lewis is gonna take over the defense. Of course, the questions were you need help. I've got a plan. Don't ask me and you'll find out later. So now. Hugh Jackson comes in as an assistant coach does. He just do a little bit of everything does he concentrate on the offense. Does he look at the defense? No word on that. Right now. The Bengals obviously find themselves just barely above five hundred at five and four. And I guess it doesn't hurt to have the Browns on the schedule Botha November twenty fifth and December twenty third. I'm sure tax and will be sauced up for that one. By the way, Lewis found Jackson a place on the staff after Jackson was fired just one season in Oakland back in two thousand and eleven and Jackson came close to being head coach in waiting in. Cincinnati turn that deal down. We talked about that a little bit yesterday. There was kind of a. Now, if you remember last year was the last year of Martin Lewis deal and everybody thought, that's it. They're done. It was horrible season. He's gone. And. And I'm sure Mike Brown was was a part of it the ownership there. But the understanding was Jackson the offensive coordinator was the head coach in waiting and when Marvin was going to step aside. He was just to slide right in there that did not happen. So we'll see. When you go three thirty six and one is a head coach before you're finally canned. My guess is that people are banging your door down. I mean, your good friend Marvin Lewis is going to call you need smell great. I get to continue to work, but beyond that. I don't know what Mike Brown higher. Hugh Jackson, assuming Marvin Lewis is going to step away at any point in time and hire him as the head coach her. Do you hire? Somebody who's got a little better track record as a head coach three thirty six and one. I mean, how do you explain that? How do you? How do you introduce you Jackson, by the way, the new coach Hugh Jackson? You all very familiar with them. We've been most impressed with his record as a head coach of the National Football League. Three thirty six in one. I mean, how do you do that? I mean, and I'm not making fun of you. I mean, he was in difficult situations. I get it. But I think Cleveland's about ready to turn the quarter. I don't I can't imagine anybody would hire head coach. Your thoughts. Eight five five three two three four over in the NBA Brett Brown the head coach this Philadelphia. Seventy Sixers said that they were a star player away from our star player way after exiting the playoffs last year. And of course, now, they pull the trigger on a dealer brings Jimmy Butler over and that means that the process apparently is over and the expectations now now are through the roof, right? Listen, it could have been a pitch. For the brand James or Paul George number free agents this off season. You could have challenged the Markelle falls to take another step as the former number one overall pick, by the way. Did you see Markelle fall to the other day last night? I think it was wow. I thought I was looking at Charles Barkley and his golf swing and never seen. Anybody hitch up like that in the middle of free throw never now full said afterwards that the ball slipped. I'm like the slipped. And we understand now that the relationship between he and his shooting coach the guy who worked with him tirelessly in the offseason and get him going in the right direction. Apparently that's in the dumper, and they don't speak to each other anymore, and it showed like. I mean, if you're Brett Brown on the Sixers, and I know he's a first overall pick. There was a lot of pressure to get him on the court. But I'm thinking after last night, if he's regressing I think I look into maybe move on anyways. Instead of all that they bring in Jimmy Butler, right and hopes to close the gap between themselves the raptors or box, whomever, top Eastern Conference. And so now Butler is going to join a group of young superstars that. I don't know. Currently have the reins on the franchise Brown hoping that the butlers personality doesn't clash the way. It did. With Karl Anthony towns Andrew Wiggins out there in Minnesota. Here's Butler at his press conference today talking about playing with Ben Simmons. Joel Embiid sounds really good. And now, he's just gotta go out there and make some things happen talk is just that is just talk when we get out there play together. I think it'll be a different story. Hopefully, a good one that ends with a happy ending. But it's all going to fall in place. I don't think that anybody's going to step on anybody's toes. I think everybody's still has the same job to do. And everybody is expected to be the player that they always have been. That's why I think it's going to be so simple. All right. So so here's the deal Butler has this history of chirping, particularly young players get under their skins. There were players that were with him in the bulls who said he was a bad teammate. Clearly there were those players in Minnesota that were particularly. Happy with him on the team and certainly weren't sad. When he he got traded. And then you've got this young group of players. Ben Simmons Joel Embiid. And all of a sudden are we to believe that Jimmy Butler now is going to become a different guy. Nobody's going to step on anybody's toes. Really now. In a sense. I mean, listen, he called he called Harley Anthony towns and Andrew Wiggins soft guys who didn't want to play defense, etc. That's really not the case was Simmons. And Embiid Embiid and beat the hell of an a player, but he's a great defensive player as well. Ben simmons. This guy's a jump shot away from becoming the next LeBron James. But. This whole team. This train is going to be judged on winter losses like everybody else. All right. And I said it earlier for all those that you think oh, it'd bells here. Seventy sixers. Here we go. We're going after the circumference let it breathe, man. It's gonna take ten fifteen games minimum for these guys to kind of figure out who's who who's doing. What how we plan this thing who's taking who's taken the shot? And when they hit a couple of bumps in the road. Don't be really surprised now. Jimmy, Butler says something disparaging or points the finger out or gets under the skin of a Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons. I still think that this. This is a basketball team. That's. JJ Redick but come on. There's still a three point shooter away. I think there's been some mentioned out there and rumor about Kyle Korver coming over make a deal to bring Kyle Korver over. I think they still have a roster spot to fill. Apparently, he's he's got a toe injury right now. But I mean, listen in terms of bailable three point shooters from a historical standpoint. There's nobody better in the league now as the defensive liability LES's. Liability. But if it gets embattled trouble or needs a breather, would you like to have a three point shooter on the floor? I would. I don't I don't know what's going on with that. What's going to happen or not? Either way. This this whole seventy Sixers deal also included them giving up. Daria Sarge and Robert Covington for what amounts to a five month rental of Jimmy Butler, right or? Are we all going to side with those talking heads will tell you that there's already a wink, wink deal between the Sixers and Butler, which would equate to what five years and one hundred ninety million dollars from an extension standpoint that'd pay Butler about thirty five billion dollars annually through his mid thirties. I mean, listen L brand. I I liked the deal. I like finally somebody's saying, you know, what the process is over. It's it's done. It's time now for us to use some of these assets to take a shot at this LeBron's no longer the Eastern Conference in Toronto. But this is this is time for us to make a move. Now that could be a great thing. It can also be a curse I mean. One wrong step. The fact that maybe Jimmy Butler, and and Embiid, and and Ben Simmons particularly get along well or play well, a slow development, perhaps Ben Simmons doesn't develop a jump shot in the next year or two. I mean, all this could be for not we see it happen. All the time. There was a time when the sun's had more assets than anybody in the in the National Basketball Association. And they screwed that whole thing up. Couldn't get free agents to come made a couple of last ditch efforts to become competitive and what happens. I mean, you got the bomb Booker. And but beyond that, I mean, there's still a basement basketball team. And after all the work and all the suffering that that fan base in Philadelphia has had to do with the seventy Sixers you'd like to be able to say, okay, we've got a competitive franchise now, and they look to be on the cusp of bat. Still a lot of unanswered questions. Again, your thoughts at eight five five three two three four NBC if you'd like to jump on and join the conversation Levy on bell did not report today to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Therefore, he will not play the remainder of the two thousand eighteen season. He becomes an unrestricted free agent. Obviously having already served five years. There's a lot of stuff as to what could or could not happen. The question is. What is beyond bell going to get in the free market is he hits free agency. We'll take a look at some of the two thousand nine hundred unrestricted free agents along with Levy bell. And we'll kick that around max you under center. I'm Mark belong. Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield is giving the city a reason to believe

"To me. I don't think you need a offense of coach to get the best out of the Baker Mayfield. I believe you can get a great offense coordinator, I would go for the best coach because they got some good defense. Personnel to this just is valuable and has to be developed dislike the offense of town this division. Look at the coaches Cincinnati Marvin Lewis, what does he coach defensive? Okay, horrible. He's especially item. But he's a special teams coach and my Tomlin what's his specialty defense. So the defense of coaches have done well in that division, and it's a rough rugged division weather plays a part. So I don't believe that you just fall into the trap that. Oh, I got a higher offense of mine. Just because McVay Sam McVeigh's thirty to have we ever seen Sean McVay before maybe maybe Shanahan. Maybe the first shown him before Kyle his dad your member when he was that age. He was one of those bright young minds and everything, but shall McVeigh's just aren't out there running up and down the street. So I just think people are are looking at this wrong way thinking that all I gotta get an offense of coats for Baker Mayfield. I believe in Bruce Arians coaching ability, but I don't know of his style, and that stolen the ball down the field in this new NFL is the best thing for Baker Mayfield or a young quarterback trying to be successful in if they are going to go with an offense of coach all tell you a guy as far as getting the most out of that defense. I would look to his defensive coordinator. And that's guy thinks going to be bailable here in a few weeks. And that's Todd Bowles. I think if you are whomever whatever position you go with as far as the head coach offense of minded head coach defensive-minded head coach to coordinator on the opposite side of the ball becomes critical. Now, I don't know who the hot up and coming coordinators are I know the coordinators who could become head coaches are. But the guys were about ready to become coordinators on the offensive side. The Browns could hire

"No, I appreciate John. We're gonna. We're gonna finish this question up. The appreciate you call in great to hear from you as always. There's more definitely more to talk about here, but hopefully you enjoy the Sunday night football game. We'll be talking about the chiefs and just a little bigger. So definitely stay tuned for that reshaped the call, sir. You know, John. John on OBIEE John from Kentucky. He he makes he makes a great point in that, you know. The Bengals may have deflate, Marvin Lewis, deflated his team. By going that end. You mentioned punts are kind of a form of turning over. Yeah, punts are basically forty under substance field. Goals are turnovers with a participation point. Touchdowns matters like turnovers, they they're only fumbles their substance punter. Also part of turnovers might use the twenty eight yard punt. So it like it in an era where analytics is king the expected risk of just going for a fourth. In one, it's still monuments the lower than just giving the ball back twenty yards down the field so that that line of thinking is just so outdated. Nothing perfectly encapsulates who Marvin Lewis coach in what it totally in. What I wanted to get to was you know your spend a second round pick under quarterback. You spent a first round pick on a center. You spend a first top top five pick on wide receiver. For a second round. Pick on another wide receiver. Multiple second round picks on running backs, grain of NADA, everybody's on the field at this point, but you have invested a lot of draft capital at skill positions for these type of situations. And your point? I just I don't get that. We've got another call here. John. Lena's from good friend, Andrew Siler, Andrew. How are you sir? We're, we're, we're reeling from the loss. We're doing. All right. One more..

"People's health is at risk here and you're letting this guy on the field. It would be a bad Louis bench him. Why lose doing anything? It would be a bad look for the NFL if they don't suspend him for at least six, seven, Marvin Lewis, something should Marvin. Lewis get involved in this. I don't know for me, Marvin Lewis job is to win football game. So I'm sorry. You gotta make an example and be a leader control your team. If it guys gonna keep doing cheap shots, I would bench him control your team, Marvin Lewis. How do you still have a job also letting on the field is ridiculous. Marvin Lewis, you can say that, but the NFL for sure has that that's where the responsibility lies. We can say, we want about Marvin Lewis, but the NFL could anytime suspend players for conduct detrimental to the league. So anytime because they'd be like, okay, this guy is just her intimate. Does. I agree. Sorry, I'm getting so worked up about agree with you. I think that you you being upset or you having a take marva. Lewis is fine, but I think that overall it's the NFL, right? Like it's their job like it's their job to suspend them. I just don't like the fact that this guy is continuously hurting people for. Like even when he doesn't, he's in the league for how many years. Ten eleven? He's been doing. He's been hurting people for that long. He's been per. He's been purposely Tarmidi get suspended in like nothing changes wrist. That's what's gross 'bout this. It's like you did a bad thing. Bad? Yeah. Go sit out. So moving on, you had an interesting stat that you read this morning about Brock. The Brockton gone us Wailer I'm gonna walk out of the rectum gun. Bullies. That was that stat, Jeff. Won't you promise. I never promise. We'll come back. I won't say this Brock Osweiler as quarterback of the Broncos Texans and Miami Dolphins and my right. This game named Jerry. In all three places. He beat the Chicago Bears. I got. Is up the staff. I'm just gonna have to you brought to. But anyways, every time he's had a first star for a team. He's started his first start with the Denver Broncos. His first start with the Houston, Texas in his first start with the Miami Dolphins. He's beaten Chicago. That's awesome. And so he's the mayor of Chicago, like this upcoming election, he won. He just has that cities number. He just owns their phone number. The Practica. All right. Sorry. Sorry, we got one where we got one more thing to talk forward. Then today. I need.

"They're gone for me too. I know they lost a tough one to patch Bohol's, but they had a lead in cushion. In the fourth quarter, they allowed a young quarterback with five starts under his belt to come and get them at home in a hostile environment. Yes, the referees, Buddha call probably call, but you don't leave as a coach would always tell me you don't need the game to the rouse. You don't leave the game in the hands of the referee. You just don't do it number five, Cincinnati. Bundles, Marvin Lewis, stanchion. He gets an extension man. He gets an extension. He has this team rolling at three and one right now to top division tie with Baltimore Ravens, whose he best even that division because you said that you don't buy the ravens the Bengals we've talked about not buying it, Steelers ravens loss to the Bengals so they would be the top of that division. I know they're at the top. But are they the best team in that. Is he still Pittsburgh. They showed a lot whatever they showed closing from behind to beat it Lanta in Atlanta last week, that said a lot I showed that they can get something done. I may be smoking crack or you. I hope not, but I feel are from Detroit. Browns are pretty good in that division. I know that one two in one, but when you look at their games, they're right there. They are all these games there. They run to the losses of only comeback combined six points or something, much improved football team, the line, what's the parcels line? You are what your record says. No, you. Not really are finding ways. Team, there's wanna buy weed, man. Last week. Of course, this team was number four, but they had a bad showing on Thursday night against the Rams Vikings were number four. Who do you got number for this time? Key Vikings are no longer around into top ten. Out the New Orleans Saints move from six to four, three and one football team. I, I like the saints. I like what they do at times..

"One eight seven seven three three seven six six six six. That'll be the number as we take you on a marathon, forty five minutes rose right up until JJ after dawn, John jastremski and one in New York City right before we talk about the only baseball team that played tonight from New York City before we get to David right before we get to the Yankees before we get to talking with the New York Jets and the New York football giants. So you know, Andy Dalton and AJ green and Marvin Lewis the next listen during the regular season. It's good to be Kane. If you're those guys for the most part, and here was Dalton and green Dalton and green Dalton and green. Three times and three touchdown passes in the first half four touchdown passes. Andy Dalton and the Bongos are to an old, man. The ravens who were all over buffalo last weekend. They are now one and one Marvin Lewis Owen seven in the postseason. So you know, Cincinnati is going to have a winning record. They could even win. They could beat out Cleveland and win that division because Pittsburgh already what kind of a game did Pittsburgh have with the Browns last Sunday where and Cleveland just can't win. Now, they didn't lose. So that's like a moral victory. But they they couldn't win a game in which they got six journal Burs and missed a gimme field-goal chip shot in overtime as did the Steelers after the Browns messed so. So twenty one twenty one for them. But nonetheless, what is coming up next Thursday night will be yet another short week. There's one coming up for the jets and Sam darnold with Miami this weekend. And then next Thursday night the week becomes even shorter another litmus test for the rookie from you as C. So which will be next Thursday night. When the jets are on your Thursday night football with the Browns. So now Cincinnati Winston I'd ended was really most of the damage. They did in that first half and holding on and making some big stops in the second half when flacco and the ravens were threatening. So the win four Cincinnati and they go to an AFC north at one time. Arguably the toughest division of pro football. I don't think it's going to be that way this year. The ravens are always. A little bit fraudulent with Jim with Mr. Harbaugh, and and and the brothers not going to have a good time in Michigan. But the bottom line is Cincinnati wins. We'll get to the baseball. And there were two games with the New York metro Bowden's we shall touch on that and take your calls. So November one eight seven seven three three seven six six six six if you didn't know. But now, no this flash. Without a doubt..

"Sad, you're just like man I mean Paul Dougherty the, other day doc on basically said do you care Bengals season starting the worst thing that you can say is I don't care I. Think is worse I think you gotta go in with some. Degree of optimism you have. To be realistic you have to know that they're certain things that are never going to change with the franchise and. This and that but I think, as I've said you've could look at some of the potential positives and get a degree. Of optimism Lisa's how do I think it sucks especially doing. Are you thinking my take on the Bengals I I'm going to go at thirteen and three this year thirty three. Thirteen, and thirty Andy Dalton all run run and more touchdown and he's ever had. In a season Well what was? A two thousand fifteen was the stats in front of me that was arguably his his best season he played very. Well, and, look a lot of last year, he was looking at getting killed right And so he was gun shy and look everyone knows it's no secret he's not a guy that's going to lift the rest of, the team on his shoulders and succeed in, spite of them he needs a lot of things working well and when a lot when the lines going well. Providing them time and there's a. Lot of weapons around him he can be a sufficient quarterback and I hope. That happens this year absolutely but I I. Think Marvin Lewis I think he's mingle tied Jonathan Marvin Lewis came in and it was like he was just. Bingo-type any control or his at all All right well Sheila the thirteen and three I got about Some money up I'll bet you. On that. One a Greg How.
