"Saw that and I was like, you know, I think I'm all set. This whole Brooklyn experiment. I would like to see KD do well. Aesthetically, I still love watching both of those guys, but I have to penalize them for just how unbearable they've been. What's the opposite of a symbiotic relationship? Do you remember when you learn about that in science? And it's like, these two organisms show me together to make things better. What's the opposite of that? That's them. Yeah, dragging each other down, right? Destruction. That's Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Okay. I think that's accurate. Okay, so those are my meanest cuts because obviously both Katie and Kyrie and CP three and Booker have a claim to like top 5 status. The duos watchlist is another category. So I'm sorry. Franz Wagner. Yes, Franz and Paolo down in Orlando. I'm keeping my eye on those guys. I think if we did this next year, certainly the next two or three years, they are going to have a spot in the top ten. It's going to be very fun to watch those guys play off each other. Jalen Greene and tarry Eason in Houston, tari Eason loving what I'm seeing from him in the pre season. There's always one guy in the preseason that everyone gets so ridiculous about. I've seen heat fans tweeting about how Nikola jovic needs to be the backup 5. And now it's rocket stands. It's like jabari Smith is right there, but it's like no, it's tar Eason. Okay. Tari east looks like he's trying to tear the rim off the basket every time he dunks it, love anybody who plays basketball that way. And Jalen green, I think could average like 30 a game in Houston. I can't even imagine how bad the rockets are going to be on defense, but I'm excited about year two Jalen green. And cade Cunningham and Jaden ivy in Detroit. I think Jade nivy is probably a year or two away from being fully weaponized and unleashed on the league, but Kate is ready now to go. I'm putting Taylor Marvin Bagley on my duo's watch list. Wow. I am believing. I'm believing in Bagley. I had Marvin Bagley on my two K team. I think I've told this story before on the pod. When he was, it was before he was actually in the NBA, but I had one of those user created rookie classes, and I was just killing it with Marvin Bagley, so I'm going to big fan ever since. And then I told him that in person, we did like a pre draft interview, and I was like, by the way, you're killing it at center on my two K team. Can you dominate it? I could tell he loved it. So I'm still in on Bagley, dude. I'm so mad. I respect the Bagley loyalty so much. Did you create the rookies or was it generated by some nerd out there on the Internet?

"Got another great idea from Bill Simmons. 17 picks for Nikola vucevic. You had to do it. Bill, if you get a GM job, just let me just hang out. Just let me just come to the gym and hang out. Yeah, I like the appreciate it. I just wanted to have you in a jump sit in NBA jumpsuit just kind of working with guys on the side. I want to add something into the Brunson thing, and it'll come up a little bit later in this pot, I'm sure. But this is, it's not a character, not a great character. It's just a great great trend. The trend of, who are we bidding against? And this has come up a couple times in some of these deals where I'm just like, so your dad and your dad worked for the Knicks. Who are you guys bidding against, really? What was the conversation Thanksgiving going to be like if this didn't work out for the Knicks. So in the end of the day, couldn't the Knicks maybe have shaved a couple $1 million off of this? Well, I think they did descending salaries, which I thought was smart. My favorite front loaded it. Yeah. My favorite who are they bidding against? I have co winners. Marvin Bagley, who I liked, but three for 37. I just don't know who came in second place for the three for 37 with bags. And then the Gary Harris, two for 26, second year not guaranteed, but it's basically a one for 13. I just want to know who came Did anyone have 5 for him? Four? So are they doing that? Because they want it to be a big trade chip. I don't know. I thought that was weird. Who are we bidding against is a good game show, Chris? You wonder if when the agent like text them the figure, they're like, they wait for a correction. Yeah. If they wait for the light, they wait for the little asterisk tweet, you know what I mean? Sorry, I wasn't 13. At 1.3. Yeah. Who do you have for number four, Tyler? Brian windhorst. Oh yeah. I honestly thought he'd finish higher. He probably could have, and I didn't want to, you know, because he's an unbelievable character, obviously, in the grand scheme of things in terms of effect on the league, you know, probably pretty minimal. I would say. But. Like and this is like, I'm trying to think how you set it up. Windhorst went on first take on the day free agency was due to start..

"Normally, if you interview 15 people, you're cutting it down, but hey, I guess they're being thorough. And they're processed. Yeah, I mean, that's the thing. If I'm a jazz fan, I'm looking at this and I'm just saying, great. Because it doesn't hurt you. To interview all these people. And you want to leave no stone unturned. You don't want to find out, oh, this great candidate was out there, but we just didn't bother to interview him because we only wanted to interview 6 or 7 people or something like that, right? So it makes sense. It also makes sense from a relationship building perspective. We talked about this in terms of the draft about bringing in as many players as you can, even if you don't have a pick, where they're projected to fall because you want to start to build that relationship a little bit that may become a factor down the road. Same can hold true for coaches. So I think this makes a ton of sense. Even if my headline didn't. Yeah, no, hey, I'm not going to pick on you too much for that. You're the one right. So you took that work off my plate, so I'll take it. All right, let's move on to let's look at the Detroit Pistons. So they are expected to bring back Marvin Bagley. Of course, they made that trade mid season to get him from the Sacramento Kings. So not a surprise that they're looking to bring him back. But what is surprising is that they are pursuing Dennis Schroeder. Ayton will get to him in just a second, but Dennis schroder has potentially a cheap option on the point guard market, you know, I don't know what Schroeder's market is really going to look like this summer. Obviously didn't have the market that he was hoping for. Last summer, and then started off the season with Keith's Boston Celtics. They got treated midway through to.

"Year and get back at it with a resigned Levine and flush out your depth a little bit differently around your main guys and off you go and then see where it takes you because this was one of the better teams of the league before the injury said. All right, the pistons are hoping to re sign Marvin Bagley to a weirdly specific three year deal. Not a surprise that they want to keep him. I mean, this was a move that they were at a high upside move, low risk for the pistons, but a three year deal that coming back coming out already. And it's not like it's a four year deal or three years specifically. It just strikes me as a little odd. Yeah, so when you hear something, you either hear, we're gonna re sign a guy or you hear we're gonna re sign a guy to a max deal or before year on track. He was many years as we can. Whatever it becomes..

"Going to be ugly basketball, but it's going to work for teams to at least get through the games. A couple of things. There will be noon or 1 p.m. afternoon games, I think, just to move things along. If arenas are booked, they can still have like a 12 o'clock Wednesday afternoon game if they have to get them under the wire. They can refund season taking orders, whatever. Second thing, this is setting up for one of the great sports movies of all time. Because we had this with Keanu Reeves and the replacements. So maybe that has been circled in the rewatchables feed now for three, four years. It's always on. So people more people than me most like it. But that premise of that was it was an NFL strike season. Keanu is this he's Shane falco, the former college quarterback who went down in disgrace, comes back, gets his second chance. This is going to happen in some of these NBA games. I mean, Isaiah Thomas is a famous example of that. But we both know that there's just a shitload of talent out there and sometimes it comes down to. I just never got a chance, you know? Look at Gary Payton the second. You know, he's 28 years old, and has every team has stared at him, but now all of a sudden, you know, he was able to find his way in a championship rotation. But do you feel like there's some sports movie potential? So guys that nobody knows about floating out there ready? I mean, I was thinking about that over the weekend. I was texting with an executive. I was like, do you think there's any G leaguers right now who are going to get an opportunity and they're going to stick in the league? And he says, to me, almost exactly what you said, no. It's going to be more like the replacements with Keanu Reeves. We're just going to be ugly. I'm not sure if he just wasn't showing his cards with the G league three likes. But yeah, I think there's potential here. You got Isaiah Thomas signing with the Lakers bill and he looks solid in his first game. There's potential a guy like Isaiah Thomas stays on a roster the entire season. That has a moment in the playoffs and they got that opportunity because of the absences now and I mean there's a lot of ways to discuss what's going down right now in the world and in the NBA. But there are a lot of people getting an opportunity otherwise never would have gone, whether it's the names we know like Isaiah Thomas or the names that we don't know. I hope we get a guy who carves out a role, even if they're like a 15 minute per game player and they're making hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions of dollars because of the opportunity that they're given during this stretch. I think that would make a pretty good story. Well, you'd think like Daniel gafford last year who was just an afterthought in the bulls for a while and then goes to Washington, all of a sudden was like, wow, look at this guy. Who's this? And it was just an opportunity. We know there are talented guys. There's Marvin Bagley types that you look at it and you go, all right, well, what would it be like if somebody just played him for 35 minutes a game for three solid weeks? Would he put up stats? Could you win with somebody like that? But I do think there's guys like that. And then there's the guys who, for whatever reason, nobody gave them a chance. They go overseas, maybe they come back. They're usually in that 25 to 28 range. Maybe they had some baggage in the early 20s that they've kind of said in their lifetime. But that's going to be one wrinkle. I think the other thing is if we miss games and especially with the plan tournament and it comes down to so and so is 78 games and the other team has 80 games and things like that. I think the playoffs could be really complicated to figure out. And they're complicated in general. You look at the west and I don't really like anybody other than what the top three, the top four and you start looking at every team you go down Dallas, Denver clippers, and you could poke holes in all these themes, which is why I think the Memphis thing has been so much fun. But who knows? Yeah. I mean, we'll see about that. One other thought that's been on my mind this weekend is how much does and I'm curious about this for you Bill. How much does the last couple of years with all the COVID factors in the NBA change the way that you'll assess this period of NBA history? So now I'm going to get in trouble, but I do think the bubble playoffs were both an incredible achievement, but then also something that we just have to it's not an asterisk. It's just was such a different way to have a playoffs where everybody was able to get in shape on their own terms. And then it was basically this ten week sprint that seemed to rely a lot on how close the team was. How healthy you could be, how you can handle being in the bubble. So I don't know if it was, I wouldn't say it was worth less than a normal player, but I just think it has no comparison any other player we've had. There's no way to compare that to any other season. So it's just kind of over here and it's impressive the Lakers one and Miami fought through all that stuff. But I think maybe the same will end up happening. This year, in some ways, just because we're going to see teams that are good that maybe because of COVID or some fallback are going to be a 6 seat instead of the three seeds or they're going to be in the play internment instead of being a four seat. And the obstacles they have to overcome. I just think they're going to be harder. We saw how that derailed the Lakers last year. Yeah, and we'll also see how the NBA changes the protocols. The NFL just made it so what is it that only vaccinated vaccinated players are tested if they choose to or if they had a high risk close contact, but they're not getting tested daily unvaccinated players were in the athletic had the story last week saying that the NBA's thought about it, but they're not going to do it yet. I mean, maybe they'll do it by April for the playoffs right or wrong, whether that's the correct thing to do. That would also change the way these playoffs are going to be handled too, because if you're having a fully vaccinated team, that means technically, you're not getting tested daily, like teams would be that have unvaccinated players. It further incentivizes players to get vaccinated, even if that doesn't stop transmission of the virus. Strange times ahead. James times, Bill. Speaking of strange, Kyrie now coming back and, you know, the story coming out this weekend was like, you know, then that's a very evaluated this..

Lakers Nation Podcast

"To begin with and you still find a way to lose that game? That's unbelievable. You summed it up. The Lakers gave up basically everything to the king's guards healed Halliburton and ADR and Fox all had a really good game tonight. It seemed like healed and deer and fox really just took turns in the overtime period scoring. It was very apparent that both teams were out of gas, but I think this is one of those it's one of those things where it's very clear when you're the older team though that you're at a disadvantage when you're playing a young when you're playing a young team like the kings. I think look at LeBron's three point shooting two of 13. A lot of them felt like they were forced, or he was settling just because I don't think he had the same energy or burst to get to the rim. It was a rough shooting night for the Lakers, the offense went cold when it really cut it or it shouldn't have. And the king's capitalize. And they had a lot of tough shots. I thought Malik monk had a really solid defensive possessions where he was one on one with either healed or Fox, I thought he held his ground really well. And then they just hit tough shots. I can't really do anything about that. You know, just looking at the box score, you would look at them. If you didn't know it was a triple overtime game, we'd like it then. Oh, those are pretty good stats, right? But then you look at the king side of things. And it's like, oh, never mind. Looks like something that was happening on the defensive end here where they just simply couldn't keep up or couldn't keep pace with the team anymore. And yeah, and you know, I saw some of point this out on Twitter. I thought this was funny, but this was a good game for the kings. Not only picking up the wind, but also because Marvin Bagley has got a lot more trade value now. Yes, that's true. Studs have the comment during the game and I put it out there on our Lakers nation Twitter thread there and we had to go and he said something to the effect of, wait, Marvin Bagley was second overall? Really? He's just, he doesn't care at this point. He'll say whatever is on his mind, which is absolutely fantastic. And he's right, but Marvin Bagley got a lot of offensive rebounds because once again the Lakers did not box out, which has been a problem for the season. Just to remind everyone, the kings took Bagley over players like Luka Dončić, Jerry and Jackson junior and Trae Young. In case you wanted to know how those next three picks went in the 2018 trash. Ouch. Benjamin for the super chat said good morning Trevor. Good morning. I don't think ariza and none can fix this. No, and that's what I cautioned on our lives show. I said, look, yes, we're looking forward to Trevor. Lisa coming back Frank Vogel has said he's already carved out a role in his mind. Clearly the Lakers had him in mind when it came to probably their starting lineup..

"He's left a little too a little ambiguity there of how on the table that offer really was and whether that's he's trying to make himself look good or the Lakers folks clearly they would never do it publicly, but privately even said, yeah, we didn't necessarily go to some of the numbers that have been out there. So my guess is it's probably more true than it is not true. And just everybody's trying to save face here a little bit and look a little bit better as we move along. But yeah, speaking of the Celtics, we'll close to this one. Boston resigned jabari Parker. Now this is interesting, not so much about jamari park or although I remain a job Barry Parker fan. I think jabari Parker can still apply, but that's because I also still believe scoring points is the end goal of the game and I think that is still an important skill to have in basketball. But it's more interesting for why this happened to the way it happened. So jawari Parker signed with the Celtics late last season on a two year veteran minimum contract. When that happens, the player is charged at the actual salary amounts versus the league. What's the word I'm looking for Trevor? The league of the leagues veteran minimum amount. Yeah, I know what you're trying to say. Yeah, the league basically pays the rest. Right, right. So what happens is the player gets charged at the two year veteran minimum and then the league pays the rest of that to the player and the cap hit for the team. And hand in this case for the Celtics more importantly, the tax it is only the two year veteran minimum amount. So this year, that's 1.7 million. The league subsidizes it. That's the word we were looking at. Come up with that word, man. You know what it is, it's because we were up late. And I was up early. The coffee is now warm. If you watched, I was awful of energy this morning. No, no, I'm looking for my afternoon nap. But anyway, so Parker was on the books for over $2 million. So what the Celtics did here by waving him and resigning him. They've lowered that cap and tax it by about $500,000. And what that actually does is now, they're about 6.3 million over the luxury tax line, which puts them in range of one trade can get them completely out of the tax. If they need to, if that's if that's a concern, is the season goes along, or let's just say we don't know this to be certain but let's say ownership gave Brad Stevens a all right, we'll go up to 10 million over the tax. She gave yourself a little bit more wiggle room. In that situation too. So this is just kind of it's a minor thing, but it's a smart move. And it doesn't actually change anything for jabari Parker, salary wise, because he still gets the same amount of money he was going to get anything. It's just coming from the NBA versus from the Celtics. And what it does do though is the Celtics ownership group gets to say $500,000 towards the tax, which is, you know, that's not nothing for when you're trying to keep a long range in short range of view in mind here. Golden State Warriors are very similar situation with Gary Payton a second also in the last couple days..

"I mean, the only curious thing here is they took a lot of flack for giving Stephen Adams, the contract they did, and then they kind of turned around and gave Valentine's Steven Adams level money, give or take a couple of million. But still, I think it's a solid deal for a big man that admittedly, I'm a fan of. I really enjoy his game just being that kind of throwback brute force center. Yeah, next year he'll be on the books for 14.7 ish million. It looks like. Which is that's actually believe it or not, that is over 3.2 million under what Adams makes next year. So that's actually that's a meaningful amount of money. Just kind of another fun little note. They have exactly one free agent now planned for next year and that's Tomas on a run ski. Everybody else is signed in under contract. And then they have Josh hart on that very unique structured deal where it's got non guarantees and a non guarantee with a player option, which is very rare and it's final year. But yeah, I think this is perfectly fine for the pelicans. Valentinus is 29 now. I think he's a guy who should age well because he's never been relying on his athleticism. He's always been a pretty ground bound guy. But I think with the way he is out of range to his game in that, that's really going to help. I think he's somebody we don't do a ton of this, but if you're a fantasy basketball player, go get them on Zions out, 'cause I think he's gonna eat inside. I think he's gonna get the ball and do a lot of stuff. Do you have that moment for this team? There you go. And I've never said that, so I can't even take credit for that. That's right. But yeah, but yeah, I think this is a good deal for the pelicans..

"Complete waste of a player who's doing anything. And people will say it's empty stats because it's on bad kings teams, or whatever, but again, this is not. He's not shooting 38% in scoring for 14 points on 20 attempts at night. That's not this. This is, you know, just a big you can do some stuff. So, you know, so I just feel like this is one where you kind of want to tell both sides. I mean, look, I think it's absolutely funny that I got to this point. But you want to tell both sides, all right, it's time to grow up down. Let's just move along. Exactly. Exactly. Both sides need to move on. I mean, look, if you're the kings, and you can go out there and you can sign Alex Len pretty clear that you're going to be playing him over your former lottery pick. In Marvin Bagley, Alex lender won any one of 15 centers. Yes. On that roster. Anytime continued, is they rival Cleveland for the absolute tallest theme in the league. Anytime you can sign a journeyman big off the free agent market and completely devalue your former lottery pick, you have to do it. You have to, if you're thinking, you have to make that move. A 100% sure. Yeah. All right, let's move on to big mistake. Oddly enough. Let's do Daniel gafford first. Washington Wizards. So if you remember, we talked about Terence man, I've probably about a week or so ago. He signed an extension where there's a little blue unique is what the clippers did was they picked up a team option for him for next season the 2020 two 23 season. And then they added two years on to it. Well, the wizards took it a little bit of a step further and they had a three years added a little over 40 million on there, so he'll be on the books next season, at 1.9 million, then that'll jump up to 12.4, 13.4, and then it'll close at 14.4 in 25, 26, all three seasons fully guaranteed, no options in there, no bonuses or anything..

"Not happy. Those kind of things. But this is full on saying like, look, you blew it. You're awful and you're refusing to trade my guy. And I've never seen anything like that. There's a common theme here that we're seeing now. And we're starting to see this happen more often where a player and a player's agent slash agency is put into a contentious situation with the organization publicly, right? Where it feels like it's agency versus franchise versus organization. And I do wonder how that ultimately will bleed into negotiations in the future and CBA and all that sort of stuff. But just really down to look at this specific situation. I mean, look, if they really are just completely benching, Marvin Bagley, who again was what their number two pick just a couple of seasons ago when everybody around him is kind of blown up. That's not a good look, especially if they had opportunities to move him, like now whatever they could have got for him during the summer, that's probably gone. His value is completely blown apart at this point if you're gonna make the decision to bench him. So if you're the kings and you would plan to just sit him on the bench, why didn't you just trade him in the summer? So I could get why Marvin Bagley himself, why his agency would be upset by that turn of events. Yeah, absolutely. And I made the point on Twitter after all this after getting off some jokes and laughing about it. He's a good second draft. Absolutely. For a team that either already good and they can just kind of whatever we get from them, we get from them or they're bad and they can really invest in playing him. But I think the challenge is how do you get the kings to play ball? Yeah. Because you clearly aren't going to give up a lot for him. But if the kings don't seem to really want to, this one's weird, because this is not a this is not a Ben Simmons situation where that's an established all NBA level talent. So you can understand why Phil is saying, hey, we need a good return for this guy. Even if it's a mass, like we still need a good return. Bagley has shown flashes at times of being a good player. But that's all it is. It's just flashes. So you're not going to give up a law for that because then let's say you get them and he breaks out, now you got it. Now you have to pay. So that starts to become a whole thing. And then part of that decision making processes, or is it real? Did he really break out? Or is this a situation where now we're having to pay a guy or was he just motivated 'cause he was mad? You've got to feel really confident in your ability to parse through that because otherwise it's just going to be kind of messy. Yeah, you could wind up. I mean, so he sits on the king's bench for a couple of months, and then you trade in midway through the season and you get a couple of good months out of him, could just be the honeymoon effect, right, where he's on his best behavior. You trade for him. He looks good, you pay him, and then next thing, you know, you're kind of stuck with him, and he's not that good anymore. That could happen..

"I think so. I think so. Because go back to. They've won one title, I believe in franchise history, and that was back with Bill Walton. But no one from that team is the greatest trailblazer ever because Bill long get heard. And it just didn't. There wasn't that longevity. So it's got to be between Damon Lillard and Clyde drexler. Draxler didn't get it done in Portland, either in, you know, oddly enough, he moved on to another franchise and then did get it done in Houston. But yeah, I think so. I mean, he may be there already. He might be severe Portland fan, shout it out in the comments of the show and let us know what you think, because I'm very curious to see what you think on that if you're a poor one fan of. Is he the best? Is there ever? He might already be there. Now, domino effect. We said that we wouldn't talk about him today, but nothing in the NBA happens in a vacuum. And one of the players that the 76ers were believed to be holding out for on a Ben Simmons trade not sound in the side. Don't sound the siren, but this is the one of the names that's out there. It's Lillard and Beal. The 76ers are basically trying to stall until one of them comes on the market. Now you've got the player himself saying I'm not on the market. I'm staying here. Bradley Beal seems to really like Washington and there's been no sign that he's leaving the wizards. I mean he seems like Beale feels about the wizards kind of the way Lillard feels about the blazers. Might this have an impact on the Simmons conversations in terms of a trade? Again, can't say for sure a total speculation, but again, nothing happens in a vacuum in the NBA. Yeah, no. That would be lying if I said, they didn't immediately have thoughts about that. Myself is if you're Philly, do you move off your ask? Because now you've had Lillard say it doesn't want to go anywhere and feel it said that since the really the start of the season at the beginning immediate a both of them have confirmed they want to be right where they are. So if that continues to remain the same, there'll be somebody else. We just know how this works. Someone else will become the next guy who wants out of where they are. But yeah, I think we're going to we're in a position with these two where they're off the table and if I'm Philly, I'm not taking a bad deal because you're not going to make a bad deal, but I said this before when we talked about Simmons, it's time to just move on, get rid of the distraction. Edition by subtraction, move on, go and off we go..

So I don't know. I don't know. Like you said, nobody's winning in this situation neither side is winning. And I think that they could both win if they moved on, you know, they get the kings would get something in return, whether that's draft draft picks or another piece to throw into the mix. And then Bagley gets to the team where even if he's not even that great and, you know, and whatever situation he ends up in, but I'm sure it just mentally it'll be a breath of breath of fresh air to get out of Sacramento and onto a different organization, different coach around different players where he kind of just start over. And this is unfair to Bagley. This is something that he shouldn't have to deal with, but I'm sure he does on some level, like I think the fans are just kind of done with him at this point because they drafted Luka Dončić, or they drafted him over Luca Dončić. That's not something that was Marvin Bagley's choice. That's not Marvin Bagley's fault. Right. But unfortunately he gets blamed for it. And like he struggles to play defense. And I think fans are sick of just watching him try to play defense. And consistently. He's also never healthy, like, and like we talked about earlier, that's something that we shouldn't blame him for. Like we can probably blame the defensive awareness and attention to detail on him on some level. But we can't blame the injuries and we can't blame him going number two on Marvin Bagley, but like kings fans are rightfully frustrated with the situation, like if I was a fan, I'd be pissed. You know what I mean? Like I'd be annoyed with how the whole thing has gone down. I don't think that those feelings are unfair. Just like the whole situation sucks and it's probably time for it to end at this point. For everyone's sake. I agree. Okay, Cole, we end this podcast, asking everyone what is the best movie that you've seen recently? Or at least just talking about movies, we can have long conversations about movies on the show because I watch too many of them. Oh boy, you put me on the spot. I'm not a movie watcher. I'm a big, I'm big into TV shows. Okay. That works. I probably watched two or three movies since quarantine started. I just don't watch them. Oh my God, really? Yeah. I don't have the patience to.

"Crazy stuff goes on in those locker rooms. We'll get into that in a different day. We'll talk about locker room dynamics, maybe. Stories. With someone like Kevin heard or playing in Atlanta. Okay, the last thing I wanted to talk about, Marvin Bagley, a player that did not get an extension. It came out through his representation that he is not going to be in the rotation for the Sacramento Kings, early in the season here. And excel in Jeff Schwartz decided to take that public before the king's dead in their opening game. Jeff Schwartz said Sacramento has informed Marvin Bagley, he is not in the opening night rotation, which is completely baffling. It's clear they have no plans for him in the future, and yet pass on potential deals at last year's deadline and this summer based on value. Instead, they chose to bring him back, but not play him. A move completely contradictory to their value argument. This is a case study in mismanagement by the king's organization for people who don't know Jeff Schwartz like doesn't do this shit. This is not an agent, like rich Paul is very loud and he's out there and he's sitting courtside with Adele at the Lakers warriors game. And more power to them, right? Like if you have the opportunity to live that life, live your best life, but Jeff Schwartz doesn't do that. Like Jeff Schwartz is a behind the scenes dude, the number of texts I got, just like laughing at this and going like, wow, like we can't believe Jeff Schwartz did this from people like other agents, people within the NBA on the team side. I probably got like 8 or 9 on my phone just like what is happening right now. Where are you at on Marvin Bagley at this point, Cole? Like fascinating situation obviously. I think I understand it from both sides, but it's a complicated one. It feels like. Yeah, he's just, it just feels like his whole tenure in Sacramento is just he's been in a tough position. I mean, obviously he's dealt with a lot of injuries, so some of that has been because of that. But I don't know. I don't want to speak bad about the organization that I don't know too much about, but I mean, you see similar things was going on with the buddy hill. You know, it's like these young players that are pretty good and buddy cases and buddy hills case. I think he's really good. One of the best shooters in the league, just so much uncertainty about roles, you know, that float around and trades all the time. That's pretty unsettling as a player. I mean, buddy healed got traded this summer if you don't remember like he got traded on draft day and then it got reported that he got traded and then they went straight back up to Sacramento in that way. It's weird. And you know, clearly way more about the agent than I do. I guess you don't poke the bear, every man has his limit of how much he's going to take. He's fed up. He wants his client. He wants better for his client. And, you know, I respect him for that..

"A half. I think I used all my locks. I don't want to root against words anyway. Under for me under her house over for resilience. It's a good position. I have regrets. Clippers 45 and a half. Under for all three of us, I really want to lock on that one, but I'm not going to do it. And then kings, we all went over 36 and a half. That's hilarious. As their streak to go 16 straight playoff loses. The other reason I like them though is the over. Yeah. Sacramento, 12 minute segment. They were defiant last year because of the playoff streak where they weren't going to trade Barnes for pick. They were like, they didn't want to do these things, so I go, I think they're still going to go for it. They may add. And then Marvin Bagley, I think they'll probably give up on him at some point and then I'll just open up minutes for the rest of the small guys. Marvin Bagley's dad against Darren fox is my favorite storyline entering the season. I'm not telling my Marvin Bagley stock. My NBA stock accountant keeps like, hey, dude, we've got to get off this. This is going to be a penny stocks and write it off at this point. I'm keeping it. Quickly, we'll just do futures quickly. MVP who do you have? Stuff curry. Steph Curry 8 to one. I'll give you the odds actually. Dončić 5 to one Durant's plus 6 50, Jana 7 one in B day to one curry 8 to one dame 12 to one LeBron 16 to one jokic 16 and one hard in 18 to one, trays 21 to one, then it gets a little hardened. 18 to one, it Mitchell. I'm coming to bed on that. I think value as Mitchell at 30 to one is the best value. I would embed it, but if you're just riding like Utah going 16 and 20 tips to blood that, who do you have for MVP resilience? Durant. He won his only other one in 14 he's due for one more. And I think if they have a nice season, lock it up, it'll be kind of a sentimental vote to go with him again instead of somebody new. No Kyrie all year, possibly or half the year. That's why harden at 18 to one, like harden, I wouldn't touch it at ten to one or 12. The one 18 to one has my attention though. Whenever I think about the MVP stuff, I'll always go how disappointing was your playoff thing where now people get pissed at you. And after the last hard in Houston thing, I thought, they're never going to vote for him for MVP again. And I felt good about it. Halfway through this past net season, what he was doing, carrying them when the other guys were out, and they were winning games. And he was like, the leader of the team by all accounts. Seriously, and it was Nene sort of story wise, which is what you have to bet on. You have to bet on the story that the voters are going to like, Hardin had redeemed himself. Yeah, voter size. I thought Steph after back to back and the unanimous thing first time ever and then blowing it through. I was like, he's never going to win another one, and yet he became kind of a sentimental pick. Last season because of the way he was carrying that warriors team. So I can write guys off, but then it's like, okay, what story exists? So I like the version of a Durant story where he's healthy. You know the team is going to be good. And just a little nod to him that he's only had one. For MVP, I think Luca is the smartest bed of 5 to one for the narrative thing. It's a horrendous odds. Brutally bad us. I would not bet those odds at 5 to one, because I don't think they're good enough. I like your Duran. I don't love the odds. 8 to one? I have it at plus 6 50. Oh, okay. Giannis 7 to one, I think is the one out of those three because I just feel like it's a toss up between these three guys. I think hardens the best odds at 1801. For the, for what we just talked about. I think there's a narrative with him. I could see him being awesome. It happened. Whatever I thought was like he was on the do not disturb list post Houston. He's gotten that out of the way. Yeah. So I just think one heart and Mitchell like a 30 to one flyer if you wanted a penny on that, whatever. Scoring leaders, who do you have for scoring? Who's leading the league of points ass? And I'll give you the odds. I'm going to go ahead and just say Bradley Beal. I'm fine with that. He's the favorite because Kevin.

"All right. Let's see. I was going to do a Celtics one, but I'll avoid cuz I know you're going to throw me a Celtics on here in a minute. I lost it. Hold on. I'm going to find one. We really do appreciate you guys quite a few of these. So it was really really pretty cool. All right, so this is a little bit of a tweak on that other one home or was that big actually will do this one instead? Okay, because I think this one is fun. This is another one of those forty MERS and this one came from sorry. I should not closed it just yet at Casey Levine on Twitter. Okay, Cleveland, San Antonio, Oklahoma City in Sacramento Cleveland gets DeMar DeRozan and Jabari Parker, San Antonio gets Andre Drummond and Trevor Ariza the Thunder get Marvin Bagley and Nemanja B Lisa and the Kings get LaMarcus Aldridge. Mhm. I am going to have to find that one right now because I cannot picture that in my head. It's it's in your notes in mind. That's what it was. I was looking through three years. All right, find that one and then I'll be able to break that down a little bit. It's a it's a screenshot of the trade machine got it. Got it. Got it got there. It is give you my thoughts while you're pulling it up. Here it is. I think I kind of like it for the Cavs. I think the rosens an upgrade for the rest of the season especially as he's been playing kind of a small ball for roll for San Antonio. I like came over Drummond for them Jabari Parker. That doesn't matter. That's just thrown in a imagine to make the math work Spurs side of it. I don't hate it. Try out drumming for the rest of the year. See if anybody's got get the best out of him. It's probably going to be San Antonio. They've got enough guys that they can get by without DeRozan there is this year. I think he's probably done there any way a reason that doesn't do anything for them. They take a reason reason is my number one guy to be bought out in the Bayou Market don't think anybody's trading for him cuz no one's going to trade for 12.8 million hits bought out and he's probably got finished his career. My guess is with the Lakers is my guess I'd say he's coming home again for like what's I like the tenth time? He'll be a Laker the 10th. Oh, he's been a Laker what get Mark once? Well, I mean, he's from East he came in the trade with a with the best at least tried two different Arisa. He was in and then wasn't he there he was in 2009. He came in want to Championship with offers unless.

They are chris mannix and howard back medics back back. What up mr beck mannix our sir. So howard i know you wrote eloquently about your father in the new york times Just a couple of weeks back my question for you though looking back on your relationship with your dad. Did he ever tweet at your employer to fire you the reference. Of course marvin bagley. Who was the father of the coach bag. The father of marvin bagley player with the sacramento. Kings tweeting out that these sacrimento kings should trade marvin bagley. So did your dad ever do anything like that. No i'm not sure firing trading or this or quite the same. But i guess that's the only analogy we have No i will say this though. My dad was a twitter lurker and was not a prolific. Tweeter i think he just followed me and maybe you know some news organizations whatever and every so often he would hit me with something usually a tweet me so like i like i'd make some reference to something like a music like a song and he would like like make fun of me or whatever they mocked me on there so but the but nobody would have known that was even him so he did not cross the kind of boundaries that marvin bagley his father. Marvin bagley junior not to be confused with marvin bagley heard. I never put in that position. And i do not envy marvin bagley of the kings for what his father the position. He put him in there anymore. Kings story than that i mean. Could that happened to anyone. But sacramento i mean not only. Does marvin bagley tweet. Trade my son then you have. Darren fox his father saying trade him. Dad's getting involved on social media. Meanwhile luke walton sitting there would be like. Oh god this is starting already like. We can't give it like six weeks for us to collapse in the. I mean you think the the obvious solution is that bill walton needs to weigh in. Oh god i mean if we're gonna give fathers of flares sniping about the team at about each other possibly might as well have the coaches father who look bill. I would listen on any topic anyway..

Tim of the guys left who should start for team u._s._a. I think for the guys are pretty obvious. Kemba walker is going to be the best player on the team. He should start donovan. Mitchell seems like he's pretty like start next door brooke lopez's. I think it will be the starting center chris
