Things wrong with that was NASA launching its newest rover to Mars today, Researchers plan to use this trip to look for signs of life on the Red Planet. CBS's Chris Martinez has Mohr on the potentially historic mission release. NASA's latest mission to Mars blast it all from Kennedy Space Center. Embarking on a journey that could answer an age old question. It is very hard to imagine that we are alone. Project Sciences can, Varley says A primary goal of the latest launch to Mars is searching for evidence of ancient life. The perseverance Rover will drill into the planet surface to search for signs of long dead microscopic organisms that may have thrived on Mars billions of years ago. Wow, that's kind of cool. Right could been Martians on their billions of years ago. There are environments that have been found, especially by the Curiosity Rover. That by every characteristic that we know of look habitable. Searching for evidence of life Isn't the mission here that by the way, every characteristic is checked off. Every box is checked off and there Certain that there was life at some point on Mars that by every characteristic that we know of look habitable. Wow, that's sensational, right searching and then we gotta figure out what the hell happened to him. Why did they become extinct? Right, searching for evidence of what a plastic straws that did him in? That's possible searching for evidence of life isn't the missions on Ly goal. The latest rover will also study the climate and geology of Mars. This first of its kind Mars helicopter, capturing aerial views of the planet's surface. Somebody stayed in school longer night did right Setting up a rover up to Mars. And then it has the ability Tio helicopter pops out of his belly for perseverance will also collect samples of Martian rock with plans to one day, return them to Earth. Really, be sure that we're seeing signs of ancient life on Mars and the rocks there, we have to bring samples back Earth Tech researchers say the mission is ready to go, thanks to nearly all work on the project being wrapped up before the Corona virus pandemic began. If this had happened six months ago, when we had hundreds and hundreds of people at the laboratory building things we wouldn't have made it. Perseverance is expected to touch down on Mars just over 200 days from now very ago. Nine months to get there. Chris Martinez,

Here’s how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting public transit in NYC

"Transit here in New York City, the M T A and how they envision people getting to work and using the subways and and the buses, Transportation reporter for the city. Jose Martinez is with us right now, and you were just telling me that the empty is trying to embody. If you will. It's that it's it's plan for what everybody else should do. It can explain that to us a little bit. If you would Well, we're in phase three here in the city, and so far, only about 10% of all office workers have come backto work going toe work. So what the has for some time been promoting. Among large employers. Isto have their people report the working staggered shifts so as to put less pressure on the subway and on the buses and what I got ahold of and reported on today in the city, got N Y C is how the empty A is doing this. In its own office space, So they've had many of their workers go back. Now They're gonna have them reporting in staggered shifts. They're all types of new rules, no handshakes, no in person meetings, and they're hoping that this is something of a standard at a lot of other employers will follow as we get up Tio more and more people, perhaps 40% by the end of the year, working at officers. You happen to talk to any of the employees about their feelings about how this is going on if they feel safe. Well, they're they're just now coming back to work, So it's an adjustment process. But as they go back, they're finding ah lot of things that they had seen previously. So there are hand sanitizer dispenser is all over the place that empty buildings a cz you've seen now in the subway as well in the transit property themselves. There were cameras installed better sensors in the lobby of MP headquarters to Broadway. To detect whether someone has a high temperature. If that's the case, the scanners you, then go and get Ah, second hand held read. If you don't pass, then you're asked not to enter the property. This is all with the goal of Promoting safety and protecting people at an agency that has really been rocked by the Corona virus. They have all the different issues in. It's like. It looks like it could be connected so I figured I'd ask, but it is fantastic at sound great idea. As far as in in the color. Palette that you used for. This is just something that you discussed. With with Grayson about using, or or how did you go about? I'm kind of like a last minute addition to the team. So, coming in the character is already set in stone. The writing everything was just needed the pretty pictures, and my part of it is just a black and white, so I was surprised to the the full range of colors that reviews definitely wanted to use colored to represent different types of intelligence, and I thought that was a fabulous idea so I was very excited to see how it came out in the end. Oh, that's fantastic. And it's. It's neat that you know that. Kwabena is. A female and I mean she's kind of a superhero on her own right, you know. A doctor a surgeon, you name it What's it like to kind of work on a story that you know about really about women? That's very much empowered. We know that's becoming the thing these days, isn't it? Not a bad thing at all considering you know we're. We're coming from what we marched out of, but it's very interesting to me. They've been able to do a character like this. You know the not my not my first. But definitely one of the more interesting ones, because you not the traditional superhero superpowers, tight costume and high heel. You know now very much sherlock. Holmes is a medical drama. Really a home, so their big thing is using their brains and. Getting to research, things that are more realistic is also new for me, meaning that okay I just can't make it all up out of my head. No, no, we've got to really sit down and I'm GONNA. I'M GONNA. See what that looks like and add that to the story so really great to be able to do that kind of stuff in this book. Yeah, yeah, that that's awesome. It's it is neat that that humanoids is doing it. I just look at. The roster of the different people that are working all the different graphic novels, and there's a diversity behind the scenes I think is so important may true. In story telling you know when you're sort of taking a guest. At another person's life now and how they're in another posted person's culture. That using? He's all comic books are that's how they started? Guesswork now you actually have people from those background writing and illustrating those books. They were certainly getting a different perspective that When you sit down to work. Do you do things the old fashioned way? You know sketching it out or do you actually? Use I guess computers or even IPADS now you can. Their sketch programs and things like that available. I know all this modern technology. I remember way back in the day when I was just a pure pencil. That's all I did, and I still can work traditionally pencil on paper I. Don't really like the drawing surface on the Like the TC in those things, because if feel slick just like paper to me. But, but that's said I've I've had to learn photoshop illustrator in design? Because we're doing a lot of work ourselves at home, you know it's not going to a special bullpen anymore, and it comes back like Oh no magic wand. We waited call photoshop. Pages Yourself. Yes get ready already. Weird right with the advent of all this technology that you would really make your job a little easier I. Almost forget that when I'm done drawing, do a lot of computer work, and that takes hours and hours and hours more on top of ready. I put in at the desk. You'd think it would become easier and say oh I. Don't have to work quite as hard now now looking a little bit harder now. Yeah, no, I hear you I hear you. Yeah, it's really amazing. I mean there's a good thing about it is. You can do something. Send it off for approval. You know through email or whatever and or even share it on on a site and. The, they can look at it right away and this way you don't either have to. Hand. Take. Send the piece of paper's the male, or as they used to do it or or visit the same office hoppy. Just walk over, but. This way they can get it that way, and then they send it back to you with whatever they want you to revise and. In. That way, Kinda speed the process up, but then that also means more work to so. It's A to. Yeah, ex. They're not getting as much money as they used to from word. Isn't that? The truth has great. So how many How many issues are you going to be working on this issue? Number one that just. Came out with school actually issues I think. I think they have variant covers because right now. We're just issue. About okay, yeah, I need a crystal ball to tell you that. I'm here for the duration own Nice Nice So, are you going to be able to expand on what they're already? I certainly hope so if they give me a chance I real-..

When Zina Speaks, You Listen

"Hi everyone welcome back to the body. Serve I'm James. I'm Jonathan. We, have something very exciting today. This is kind of a surprise episode for you all and it is something that we have never done. We have had players on the show before little cute, little ten fifteen minute segments, but we've never had a former player. Sit Down with us today. The Legend Zina garrison sat down with us for an extended chat about her career about being an African American woman and tennis about today's. Today's game and just took us through some of the highlights and some of the insight. She's gained in her illustrious career, on-court and off court. We've been hoping to get this interview for a while, but the timing really couldn't have been any better in doing it. No, because today when you're it well, it's yesterday for us today. When this episode is released will be the thirtieth anniversary to the day of ladies e making. Making the Wimbledon final in one thousand nine hundred beating Monica Selous snapping a S- Thirty six match win streak in the quarter-finals beating number one Steffi Graf in the semi-finals Steffi who had reached the previous thirteen Grand Slam finals, and then playing Martinez to love in the final. We talk about healthy Gibson. XENA had a personal relationship with her. One of the stories that you've probably heard a lot of recently. Is that out? Out the Gibson was in the locker room at Wimbledon right before that that final in one thousand, nine hundred, talking about champagne, maybe adding little pressure, but it's a amazing to see these two generations of pioneering players end up in the same police at that one moment. Zena is unfiltered. She tells you what she's thinking. She says on the show that I don't always talk often, but when I do you know it's important. Aside from her Wimbledon final which you've heard a lot about recently Zina. Garrison is an Olympic gold medalist in doubles with Pam. Shriver and one thousand, nine hundred eighty eight Seoul Games. She is the bronze medalist in singles at those same games. She made the quarterfinals or better at a major fifteen times. She won three grand. Slam mixed doubles titles to at Wimbledon One Australia fourteen time WTI tight list. She is one half of the first ever all. All black WTI final in one, thousand, nine, hundred, six ECKERD, open and the court. She was the USA team captain at the two thousand eight Olympics, she was fed cup. Coach for a number of years and the founder of the Zina Garrison. Academy, which has talked literally tens of thousands of children in Houston to play tennis. The work that Xena has done over the decades with her academy is so phenomenal, and as you can imagine, these are very. Times for all kinds of businesses let alone not for profits, and if you are able to please consider donating to Zina's academy. Zina garrison dot org and make a donation. To to help the kids in Houston continued to get such fabulous instruction free of charge, yet is important to mention perhaps as a preamble to this episode a prologue you can listen to our previous episode on Zina Garrison, which was entitled Wiggle at Legs Zeno, we do ask Xena how we got started in this interview. That's a little bit of supplemental listening. But for now here's our chat with Zina and we hope you enjoy it. Thank you so much. For chatting with us now, no, no problems China stat of this Houston Corona. We don't have it's been really bad here so I was just GonNa ask. How's everything going there? Now we're have had major spikes, so it's GonNa be interesting. So, you mostly staying inside Kinda minding your business. Yeah, not really bad allergies, too so they had the African dust here last week, so when trying to be a net again. Thanks for doing this just a little bit of a preamble as to how we were kinda hoping to do it. We're just GONNA. Run through a few things of your career and get your reaction to it possibly. A Tang into some of the stuff that we may have talked about on the previous that we did as well are you guys seem like you know me so well I. Do. Now Want WanNa. Hear it from you. You've been getting so much press this last month because of the thirtieth anniversary of your Wimbledon final. Did this catch you off guard? Yeah, did really kick me off guard for for two reasons first of all that it was. It's been thirty years like I. You know. It just blew my mind that it's been that long and then the other thing is that so many people had been talking about. Remember. When it was all happening and you know one of my friends. Even call and she's like you're. tweeting on twitter and I'm like what? And so funny because my phone have been going up but I didn't. Never really happens. I didn't really know what was going on. Sounds pretty cool, so this is the first time then that you're just minding your own business, and you're just brought back into tennis because of your career because of social media. Yeah, it's not what ends one guy from England that Chris Ghosn. He always puts stats on there, and so you know sometimes he'll you know bring? He makes me I tell him all the time. He keeps me relevant, but he comes up with these stats out of nowhere in plug. This one just kind of took off so I think because they don't have one with him right now. It's you know it's. It's an people's line because this is the time so.

"I wanted Joseph Martinez to get the record because I want to. I want Orlando wanting to end land to win Orlando, keep their season on track, instill tease on-track, how many games or the one before it's over. It's over now would appear on track. You said, I mean, if. They won that they're the playoff positions. There's one franchise off the rails, hence off track. Yeah, it's it's our land. They got a lot of problems to resolve, but I would say it was great to see and Leon tweeted this afterwards. We interviewed Joseph Martinez and I'd like to thank ESPN deported for using their do a lot of things. I know my Spanish is in one hundred percent. It's like sixty five. They put me on their time. So I told Ali Han, I'll do the first question you do the next. So I welcomed and he was a lovely Joseph. And those started talking and it was getting really emotional in there about, look if you don't know what's going on in Venezuela, it is more sky. It's Dr times there's violence on the streets a, the currency is worthless. It's been floated, there's nothing. Yes. Financially, it's you just watch video, which is which amazes me when you look at this generation of footballers out of NS Walea and what they've been able to do a missed, all this. It is amazing and used. Talked and he will tell you what the federation has done to change the culture and what the league domestically has done to increase minutes with the youth players. And now they're reaping those rewards, but to see players wherever they're playing, whether it's the Premier League or whether it's molest or whether it's US Ella, whatever these players are venturing out sometimes because of need because they don't wanna be minutes well, but they're succeeding and everything going on in their country. For a brief second gives this whole nation, some joy and people people may say that my last people don't care. No, this matters to them to see Joseph. Martinez dominate the league the way they the way he's done. That's the keyword. He is dominated in every facet and listen, people are going to say it's MLS. That's why Joseph is doing so well look at his record when he was in Setia said, yeah, he was like six, five, six Torino tree. No, it's fine. It's fine. Was he played a nine? No, he was playing on the wing. He's playing on the wing. Three people have to remember when Atlanta was formed a very first player, they signed. It wasn't Joseph Martinez, the very first person they signed. It wasn't that Keno you know, what was no, no, no, you know, who was can win. Jones can win Jones. That's that's your number nine. That's where you're gonna build a team around and then they get mad at the. That does like, Nah, I can't play the style that I wanna play with a tree trunk as a nine. I need somebody who's mobile and is no again when there's no fence because he's, he was a very good player in his own, right. But they're different style. So they go out and Joseph. Martinez wasn't brought here to be the goal score. He ended up being the goal score. So. Two things. This is Joseph. Martinez being relentless being very good at what he does being dynamic, being explosive, being just show hungry for goals in this is also a system. I went to get him to score goals and that the that's half the job, and then he's scoring the goal. I don't wanna take anything from Joseph Martinez, but we see this a lot in Major League Soccer sometimes and look at Jesse side of this. Jesse started as he's out of this Venezuela. Pardon me? Jesse start is was he's with with the galaxy last year. Did he look like a double digit MLS goal score look at what? Greg with a Berhalter Gregg Berhalter system is done for Jesse. Sardis, I would argue Jesse in Atlanta's system can score over twenty goals. Here's where Joseph has the edge. He is so strong mentally. I've seen him want to fight people when he comes out. He's a bulldog. I seen him want to fight his own coaching staff in anger when he gets subbed because he's sitting on two goals and her six minutes left and they want to protect them because he's sitting on a yellow and he comes out..

It was just business once known as the mayor of Haarlem, inspiring artists like Jay z fifty cent his name lives in infamy as the ultimate symbol of trail. This is the story of Bertone Getty's Martinez aka Alpo. Alberta was born on June eighth nineteen sixty six. He grew up in east Harlem, aka Spanish, Harlem. A Trulia, Rican, Avella patio. It's a well known hub for Puerto Rican experts. Most families living today have parents and grandparents coming from the island to New York. During the fifties and sixties. The neighborhood was an up and coming place to live back then. But a finance crisis struck the city during the nineteen seventy when major cities including the your stop getting federal funding soon. Predominantly black and latte, neighborhoods like Harlem and the Bronx collapsed completely overwhelmed by drug issues and crime. They became some of the worst places to live in New York. During the seventies local government would abandon them as well. Focusing on funding whiter, neighborhoods and tours, friendly parts of the city. Soon neighborhood. Watch star organizations popped up around Harlem to take care of their people. One of them was the young lords of far left group, Puerto Rican, political activists modeled after the Black Panthers home. They were close to. The New York financial crisis will create some legendary activists, musicians, like to parks court, a Harlem native before becoming the California icon. His older brother Flocco had major psychiatric problems. Alburto was a likable young easy going with the broad smile and a kind nature, everyone loved, but that made them easy target on the hard streets of Harlem. Alberto's mother was protective of breaking up fights. Burt, oh, God quoting because he was getting pushed around by the kids on his block. His mother had put all her hopes into Alberto to keep them off the streets. His mother enrolled him in the fresh air fund a summer camp for young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods every summer at Berta will go live with the Clintons, ah, quiet. Middle class couple who treated him like a member of their family at the Clintons house. He discovered another way of living the good life of middle class. America were houses was tallest four storey buildings and back with the size of playgrounds for young man from Spanish Harlem. This was a life out Bertel could get used to and he wanted that life, whatever it took any planned on making it happen by joining the military as a marine when he turned eighteen, but he'd never get the chance. Holidays don't last forever from the nice houses in the suburbs. Alberto came back home to the grimy streets of Harlem for the school year. Alberta was sick of getting jumped by kids on the street. So we learned to defend himself after school Alberto started boxing, he trained with a friend from the neighborhood Wilfred the radar Benitez one of the best Puerto Rican boxes of all time appro. By the time he was seventeen but need as we're going to win three world titles during his career. Alberta was quite a good fighter, but he never won his battles against poverty, boxing lessons costs more than our Berta could afford. He was tired of running to his mother for everything both physically and financially Alberto drought, boxing dropped out of school and started learning his lessons from the street. It was an unfortunate turning point form. He was so good. He could've turned pro as a team like
