"Arsenal played their round 7 makeup game against Everton and they did so in style winning four nil and going 5 points clear at the top of the table now that they are level on games with Manchester City. Don was on the call for this game. How good are arsenal Don hutchison? Unbelievable K I mean this context around the game because for 40 minutes of the game I thought ever the away side were absolutely fantastic. They never really looked like scoring, but they broke really well about four or 5 times and then sucker scores the first goal on 40. Then they get the Martinelli gold just before the time which then takes the game completely away from ever but second off, it was an absolute mauling. It was for going on 6 or 7. There was only with about 20 minutes to go. They were keeping hold of the balls in another top performer. I had Martin odegaard as my man of the match. He scored one goal Martinelli got two, but he ran the show and then the perfect night while Mikel Arteta he brought players off. He rested players. He then give minutes to other players like Smith Rowe, and the stadium K with about, I don't know, 30 minutes to go was absolutely bouncing. They had to work hard for the game, don't get me wrong for the first half when they got the tuna lead. But second off, second off, they were absolutely electric. They were on fire arsenal. They were just a sensational watch. They were beautiful sight to watch. It is such a young and exciting attack to watch Stevie. Yeah. Well, I think it's been backed up with some great experience better than average pro, you know, Shaq up for a long time, and the Premier League was looked upon as just a good player. Who's who had his team arsenal, and it was time to move on. That was until Arteta appeared. This is not the same player. Not the same player. I don't know what a Ted is telling them. I don't know what he's doing with them, but this guy has taken a step forward. And there's a huge part of us that have been top of the league. It's certainly not something we would have said about Shaka. But 18 months ago, not a chance. Guys, absolutely brilliant. I think a lot of credit has to go to Mikhail Arteta as well. And a chance for this, which I think was January transfer window, sums up how good he's been, how good they've been. Frustrated with the mudra deal Chelsea coming in and still that away from them and why a lot of talk around Chelsea was how much they spent and breaking all sorts of records. Micheladas and arsenal go about their business. They are tros. They are georginio, give give cover to players like party who sometimes is out a little bit in two too often as they would like, but still important georginio comes in and provides cover. It comes in at the perfect time, Martinelli, who has been simply outstanding, but he was going through a little bit of a lean spell. Trust art comes in. Again, as depth to them, and it just seems absolutely seamless. And we are talking about the team sitting top of the table not breaking the bank, bringing in place to add to this squad and make them better at the same time. And it speaks volumes to a manager who was under so much pressure about 12 or 18 months ago. Now has them looking as good as anybody and not just English football, but in European football. Now has them as title favorites when we look at the odds makers. It's slate right now, but arsenal are the title favorites as it stands at the top of the table with that 5 point lead. Would you bet against them, Casey Keller?

"Get his head back on and become and be positive about everything that's going on at the moment. I mean, it's not the fictionalist. Well, some mates here is. But it's not really the fixture list that is making Martin odegaard lose a better form, Martinelli is a bit form. Maybe it's the fact he's playing them as much as he is and he might say, well, I have to. But it's not really that. It's the fact that I even Tony and Beaumont gave them real problems in the Brentford game. Ellen Holland gave them some physical problems and not Manchester City game. They made mental errors at the back, trying to play out, Tommy Asher, who I was surprised told me I should play it. I mean, he hasn't played this season in the league. Ben white's been playing. So he brings him in. He makes an error and decision making error. That's nothing to do with your players entirely. Those are just those are just basic mistakes within a game and mindset where clinical heard you guys talk about it yesterday about a 7% possession of so how much for mindset really these days and a game like this. And so yeah, I just I would have preferred how he just butted that straight out the ballpark. And I had to do with the yellow kick off and said, no, no, no, no. The players know where in a little depth, but we are ready for villa. That sends out a bit of message. He has to be really careful because the reason arsenal are where they are. The vast majority of us don't have. And that's because every single world becomes his mouth, they've trusted and they've believed and the follow them. Every single word that comes out of his mouth. So with he's coming out and seeing things like not enough rest, we could be tired. We were big enough squad. Little less until all that. Well, we'll use it as a motivating factor for them. Like he has with other issues. No, you know, no, no. So you're saying it gives a pleasure. No, no. No, the more we in fact are as you keep your Trump shot and you don't mention it. And if you hear anybody else in the building talking about it, you get on them quick. You don't mention it whatsoever. It's not, there's no possible way you can twist, not having enough rest into a motivational factor. What he's got to do is remain them why they were top of the league. Why would we chop the league? We'll chop them because we did this. This and this. And all the other stuff becomes Emmett material. Whether you're the boss leaves an hour after it usually does or any sort of nonsense that makes no difference. It's all the things that got you to where you are that go. And if you want to introduce all the other nonsense, then it will only be to your detriment. A good running games. I mean, is not an easy game. Less that I've picked up for sure ever new

"Apparently. They'd be really supportive of life. Imagine if Everton win now. Dodd's gonna be coming everywhere. No, I'll pay Stevie's 50 bucks. He wasn't even supposed to be on today, but here he is, invite himself on. There is a massive massive caveat. You don't hear that. What's that? That's me off the hook. No, there is a huge, of course. Caveat. Go and tell. This was when Frank Lampard was still in charge on. So you don't get it. It doesn't count. It doesn't count. Not on a technicality. It's a big technicality. They got a proper manager in there. That's the uplift. But I tell you what. Where is that? And there are arsenal. Wherever you want to. We have to start with arsenal. Well, yeah. Look, we'll get to everyone for dance in a minute. Yeah. But nobody said it was going to be easy. I suppose there's going to be some, I don't know if it's your daughter. I suppose that might be some know who are out there thinking great. Arsenal silver, they're going to fold. It's a bump in the road, right? They're record at Goodison is not great. The pitch was bumpy, they did not play well. They had the new manager effect, of course, really well organized ever, and we'll get to them. And they didn't play well. Martinelli, saka, flashes, but not much Martinelli ticking off Martin odegaard, arguably his was game for a long time, taking too many touches and ever I'm really pressing

"Magic man. And Cristiano Ronaldo longer challenger for that crown with Messi has steered Portugal into the last 16. It's Ronaldo, it's one zero Portugal. And it's a moment of World Cup history. Portugal in front, but although the World Cup brings together most of the world's best players, it doesn't have room for all of them. Football is a team game, and if your national team isn't good enough, or maybe if you don't get picked, you don't get to go. No matter how earth shattering your skills may be. In fact, the history of football is full of stars who never appeared on the game's greatest stage. Most of those who've missed out over the years have been from small countries without enough other good players to get through the qualifying stages. Liberia's George weah is one of the best examples. In the mid 1990s, he was called by many the world's best player. He won league titles in France with Paris Saint-Germain, and in Italy, with a similar. But he couldn't haul his country to a World Cup. Now George wayo is a national hero all the same. That no doubt helped him become Liberia's president in 2018. And although he was denied an appearance at the world's greatest football tournament, his son has avoided that same fate of missing out. Tim weier is an American citizen, and he's playing for the U.S. squad in Qatar, and he scored a crucial goal in the game against Wales. Lays it through. It's way up. Timothy William for the USA. For some other players, it was just a timing that didn't work out. Good dummy has best up in front of him. What a fly by John Georgie best. Another great George, George Best, played 37 times for Northern Ireland between 19 64 and 1977. But his country didn't reach a World Cup once between 1958 and 1982, so although he truly was one of the best, he never got to participate. And in Qatar, Wales had been playing in their first finals for 64 years, so although Gareth Bale has made it at last, plenty of great players didn't. But it's not just comparatively small countries like those that had seen their star players not play in the World Cup. Plenty of legendary players from bigger countries have missed out too. Take for one, France's damage in honor. He was known for his flair, his creative touches on the ball, and he had an illustrious European career. But a critical mistake he made, a careless cross that was picked up by an opposing player, led indirectly to a last minute winning goal for Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier in 1993. It cost France a place in the 1994 tournament and blighted general as international career. He was criticized by name by his coach and was pretty much shunned by the national team. In 1998, France won the World Cup on home soil without him. Perhaps the best of the world cup's absent greats, Alfredo di Stefano, lost out on playing in the World Cup with not just one country, but three. Born in Argentina in 1926, de Stefano first didn't get to play for his native country after they withdrew from the 1950 tournament. He also missed out playing for Colombia after moving and playing the league football there. He played for Colombia internationally a few times, but back then, they were not part of FIFA. In 19 53, this definitely moved to Spain, but with Spain too, he missed out on his chance. Spain missed qualifying for 1958 after being pipped by Scotland. And when the 1962 World Cup in Chile came around, for which Spain did qualify, the Stefano looked as if he would finally take part. Alas, he was injured before the tournament, and although he traveled with the Spanish squad, he never saw the pitch. Not surprisingly, even just in 20 22 alone, you could fashion a pretty decent team of players from the country that have failed to qualify. This is especially true if you stretch the rules a bit to include players who featured in past tournaments. You could start with Italy, who despite having won four world cups and been the current European champions, fails to qualify for the second time running. Out of time. But Cheney can not believe it. They still got plenty of stellar players. In a fantasy lineup of a team made up of players not in Qatar, the Italians would be well represented. Joined by Giovanni de Lorenzo right back, Leonardo bonucci, who is a world class center half, and then there's federally coquies. Speedy goal scoring winger. Austria's David Alaba, Sweden's Victor Lindelof and Scotland's Andy Robertson would also be candidates for the defense. The strikers might include the graceful Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool F.C.. And then there are two Norwegians whose clubs are vying for the top spot in England's Premier League. Martin odegaard, amid Fielder who captains arsenal, and we have to include the remarkable erling Holland who's been banging in goals for Manchester City at an astonishing record setting race. He never should leave goes into the net, the gold machine. Taken together, I think that has the makings of a squad that would at least reach the knockout stages. But the bitter reality, of course, is that none of them will have made an appearance in Qatar. Let alone play together in a Dream Team. But while some supporters may be disappointed that they can't watch their country's football stars take part in the World Cup spectacle, other unsentimental folk will be glad of their absence. The coaches and fans of their clubs. Because when European club matches resume after this monthlong international pause, these unlucky players who missed out on a ticket to Qatar will be refreshed and uninjured, and come the end of this disrupted season. When the World Cup will be fading in the memory, that may make all the difference in the hunt for those competitive league trophies. Harlan has it. Harlan still hollow.

"If marsh had said what he really feels and to be candid, I have no doubt. The Jesse marsh of Racine Wisconsin, a U.S. international and probably let's be honest, future United States manager on the men's side. Who's the most trusted player spread that I went to the Tyler Adams boost or anything? I said, I have no doubt that this man is rooting for the United States as loudly as I am. But you know, if he said that, yes, the United States, the headlines in the Yorkshire evening post, the mirror, the tabloids. It would have been like America first. They just write themselves. Let's be honest. So Jesse essentially was saying no story to be had here lads. While we're on the topic side issue, love you asking, why would Jesse even want to become U.S. manager? You know, being a Premier League coaches ten times bigger than international management, which is true. I'd agree with that in every single case. Bob being U.S. manager in 2026. When you're not just a manager of the national team, but you'll be the de facto face of the game on the men's side in the United States at a moment when the whole sport is going to go ballistically next level. Just remember that because this opportunity who will lead the team into 2026 really is as a job on the football side for an American once in a lifetime. By the way, that makes his possible answer even more complex because if you're right and Jesse marsh does want to lead the team in 2026, how does he really want Greg berhalter to do in this World Cup? Of course he wants to see his boys do well. Of course he wants to see the U.S. win, but he doesn't want it to go so well that berhalter is still in the job in 2026. It's just wheels within wheels within wheels roger. Okay, wolves, nil, arsenal two, despite the reported stomach bug going around the gunner's dressing room, a patient arsenal performance was rewarded with two Martin odegaard goals the Norwegian opened the scoring in the 54th minute providing the finishing touch on a fine arsenal move that culminated in a dinked cross from the byline by Fabio Vieira 20 minutes later, a zinchenko cross from the same position on the byline eventually wound up at odegaard's feet who fired it past Jose saw once more the Gunners go into the World Cup layoff top with a 5 point advantage that will keep them top at Christmas. They've got super Mikhail Arteta Raj. Top versus bottom, a game which began with Shaka. It's joined up his lunch over the course of the first 15 minutes. He had to be replaced by Fabio Vieira. The young Portuguese who essentially, I don't know how he felt having to really face his own national team. First half. A bit of an anti climax. That's not a lot of the ball, wolves discipline in three banks across the field denied them any space really held them at arms length by one Gabrielle Jesus cut inside and dry which flicked the bar 11 games without a goal now, but who's counting? You still magnificent. Oh, a few strikers look cuter with that. I just miss sad face and Jay-Z, and he didn't score, but again, he was everywhere, was at the heart of the move, the diddly to the breakthrough Dave. We had to wait a long time for it, but when it came, it was magnificent. Yeah, Fabio Vieira doing good work, the sub down the left. And knocks the ball back. And there he is, oligarch, a man is looking forward to his 6 week vacation rod, puts it in the back of the net. Yeah, it was Jewish, we should know who played that beautiful slipping ball to find old Fabio seems to take a heavy touch. But up stepped over to guard, finish from close range, stunning moment, a team creativity and wonder. And incoming wars manager lopetegui looking in from the stands, tried to shuffle in a few manic changes, but to no regard. Arsenal, they just kept charging forward with VRV, confidence, flicks, and tricks in chenka. Oh, causing menace, ping ponging shots, finished by odegaard with a rifle of a finish. What a player Real Madrid let going in. Oh, and arsenal credit to them for giving him the platform to ruthlessly thrive. He charged off with swagger and it hit me David. This arsenal started to feel a bit a bit less in that we keep waiting for them to wilt. And they haven't. This was a mature performance also with challenged. Yet remain patient, they never looked in trouble. They just had to wait for the chances to come. They knew they would, and when they did, they took him. Yeah, well, Leicester, if you remember, always kept on doing it on the break that was just unprecedented. Arsenal do it with possession, and they just grind you down, grindy down, grind you down. They have so many weapons so many people who can hurt you, they play with such confidence. They play with such togetherness. And it's never that exciting to see a team play wolves, even when they're spanking them because of, as you said, the banks of three, the multiple banks of three that wolves lay out. But oh my God, it was just wonderful to watch the way that arsenal ended up cutting them open at the end roger. Yeah, wolves from a rooted to the bottom of the table up at has got his work cut out officially. He starts work today. But yeah, I think the strengths that can be drawn from this performance organization, the beginnings of discipline, so there will be some positives to build off even after defeat, despite just 8 league goals scored all season, but arsenal. Car bless you. God bless you ask the fans. They made their best start to a league season. In the clubs a 135 year history, 5 points clear at the top of the table. But that Turner effect, Dave, it continues. Yeah, it certainly it certainly did. That's it. It's the Matt Turner effect Ross, that's the only way to explain it. Yep, no team has had 37 points after 30 games and not won the league. We can say this, osler bin, by some stretch, the best, most consistent football team in English football over the course of the first 9 holes of this strange season. This strange wonky cherry rig season. The first 11, we know David can win the league. The question mark is really, can they all stay fit? Can you handicap a chances as we go to the back now?

"It's a bit like in Rudy when dude returns home for Christmas and his brother's date in his girlfriend, second half caper injured mendy and Chelsea flicker back to life fine goal, Conor Gallagher split in the center backs, exquisite ball, Kai Havertz using his cops to knock it home oberon, little effect. Brian weathered any kind of storm stool mesh storm by killing the game off late through gross leaving Chelsea fans. We got one comment of just level of 4D chess in this attempt to grasp a silver lining. You're ready, David, one commenter said to us. At the end of the day, the squad two belt is getting smashed by the squad Potter and the people we now employ built. Oh my God. There's always twister level contortion when you get your brain around. I wouldn't even I wouldn't even try that. So yeah, no, and congratulations to Brighton. That was a brilliant performance a win that the new manager desperately needed. And grandpa so I thought his post match comments, though, were superb but about his sort of analysis of it and starting with himself and blaming himself and looking into it. And he's level headed. I think Chelsea will recover. Fine. They're not that good, though. Let's face it. We're recovering to a point of being definitely sub man city. Definitely sub arsenal. And I would daresay sub Tottenham and sub menu on present form, but yeah, they'll get back to where they need to be. Massive day for the seagulls. First win over Chelsea since 1933, Potter finished the game, looking like a man. Experiencing a fate similar to agamemnon murdered her on returning from the Trojan war either by his wife or her new love had depending on the telling and postgame you're right, he said I have nothing to apologize for to Brighton fans, but did admit he ended up looking quote a bit of a full arsenal at home next Sunday a now a massive game looming and between now and then I just expect to bully to offer $250 million for David. Yeah, we'll see. We'll see. We all have to triple revenues to get there, but we'll see. By the way, how have we never called him? Todd save America. He really should. I need to get great friend of the Todd mugs made right now. Arsenal 5, Nottingham Forest, nil. Well, at least I still won't be in great form going into that game. The Premier League leaders absolutely bludgeon a forest team still high on last week's victory over Liverpool, a series of flowing, silky tea moves capped by Gabby Martinelli, saf, London's recent Nelson, who had come on for an injured saka, Thomas parte and Martin odegaard convincingly keep Mikey Arteta's mob top of the table. An absolute demolition, but let's go back before kick-off. Arsenal had lost midweek in Eindhoven, was a frustration lingering for that druids, Southampton. That was all front of mind. A lot of anxiety davo amongst us our fans what anxiety amongst Arsenal fans on the four goals scored in their previous 5 games and the question was all out there was our title challenge running out of steam. So 5 minutes in, it was very much an ah, and breathe sit you as Martinelli won the ball with this pressing, worked out to saka, kept charging in, saka clipped the ball in and Martinelli there to smartly crisply finish with his head really a fantastic opening. Yeah, I think there was 6 forest defenders in the box and plus their goalkeeper and martini was the only arsenal player there. Fantastic ball from saka, but just the desire of Martinelli to get on the end of that ball at the near post great finish. And a lovely merriment as the whole arsenal team gathered with a shirt tribute to send a message of love and support to Pablo married their teammate on loan in Italy, who was amongst those. This is a true nightmare injured in a horrific knife attack in which one person lost their life and a local supermarket. This was a moment in which football was a force of good and a big moment for sack up, became the third youngest player to assist 20 goals in the Premier League. It incredible company sass Faber gas 19 years, 352 days, Wayne Rooney, 20 years, 300 days, and saka just 21 still and 55 days. What a magnificent joyful footballer, David. Yeah, fantastic footballer, fantastic story, a young man of great ability and great faith and what a what a superb performance, especially in light of what happened to him later in the game. Limped off on 25 minutes with what Arteta described and English fans took a great exhale when they heard this as quote just a knock, but also fleetingly lost their way without him. And they did worry, but they need not because forests have a deep psychological flaw of conceding early in the second half and the beneficiary on this day, unexpected res Nelson trotted on little did we know what a game changer he would be just 22 years of age once so highly coveted as an attacking weapon, but a kiddie really lost his way. And so what else were holding out for a hero till the end of the night? And he showed he was strong. He showed he was fast. He showed he was fresh from the fight world needs more Bonnie Tyler. He cut inside, slapped a shot against dean Henderson picked up his own rebound drove home, first arsenal goal for two years, massive moment. Yeah, absolutely. A young man who came up through all the England age groups was great things was expected of recent Nelson. I remember hearing about him, you know, I think 5, 6 years ago for the first time when he was playing for the 16s and 17s. But he had lost his way, he said, went on loan to hoffenheim, we did okay final where he didn't do very well at all. But comes back in this game and just had just seemed like he had something to prove from the outset. And within a 181 seconds, he scored again, Jason odegaard, so patient in the build up, we were like NBA players in the low post, Nelson getting across his man to clip him. All that joy and he deserves every ounce of it. Gotta say, Forrest goalkeeper dean Henderson, not the same player about his baseball cap. No, you're right, didn't have quite the same game. A bit like Arteta without his hair helmet and he would be undone again by apartheid hulk smash. And then party party odegaard finished the rail arsenal's finishing so spectacular supersize and pinpoint on this day, really the only

"I'm not making that up I'm a David. Both beautiful in terms of the writing and also visually just what it looks like to great size. It's a great way which really is pretty true of all the men in blazers books. Let's just say they serve a lot of functions beyond just reading. David just kept shouting as we were doing it heft. So what the heck, man? And I will say the illustrations by the incredible Nate kitsch made this but what we always dreamed of it being when we began to talk about this four years ago, we wanted a really gorgeous object worthy of any coffee table if you don't have a coffee table pre order your coffee table now and they are hopeful so that it's readable for kids in the same way as many of you who have kids will know the book good night stories for rebel girls. If you see for that book, I'll be honest. They're kind of wanted this book to be something that a family is could save her and just dip in and out of and find a real marvel together. If you have a moment, dear listeners, add a review to Amazon, I know it sounds crazy, even if you just go and give it 5 stars. It is crazy how much that silly little act helps bring in a book out in 2022. That is a silly little act in our time. Our day or age. Bringing a book into the world is such a bloody mad thing to do. My wife always says, when I finish a book, I always turn to her and say, God, I'm never gonna do that again. And then like sexy beast for some reason I always get dragged back into doing it and I do love books, but they are works of passion. This book is very much a book of passion. We're grateful to each and every one of you supported this act of creative love, creative madness, big, big love courage. There will be a surreal appearance on the Andy Cohen show watch what happens live this week by tomorrow hours truly. Yeah, we're gonna be on good morning football this week. Yeah, a bunch of other TV periods. Morning Joe, tomorrow morning. Early 7 40. And including in the where's wall though of the television landscape, there is going to be an amazing appearance by roger on a Dave on a certain Devo produced TV show, so. Yeah, rumors of me becoming the new host are greatly exaggerated. Okay, rodge two the football. And this is pretty surreal as well. Arsenal, three, the new arsenal three. The new Liverpool two, less a football match, more of 5 line poem on the human condition arsenal started the scoring in just the first minute, roger, Martin odegaard, with a straight ball Gabriel Martinelli with a diagonal run, or its geometry and just like that, it was one nil, but then it was that striker slash evolution enthusiast of Nunes who leveled things up, but just before halftime. But also ahead again at the far post, dictionary definition judge Ivor Bennett time goal roger changed the entire halftime speech of both managers right after halftime low as if the game wasn't joyous enough. Bobby chompers who came on as a sub made his way onto the scene lashed one home while looking at the ball to level things, but with 14 minutes remaining after Thiago appeared to have made some contact. With Gabrielle Jesus, Michael Oliver awarded a penalty that sucker so coolly converted and is that an Arteta in your pants or are you just happy to see me Arsenal fans? The Gunners win it. Three, two. What a game. What a team. I love them. They stay top of the table. Just reliving that introduction gave me the tingling all over again. The levels, the layers of this story. Remember 7 years in the day, this game came after klops appointment and almost a year since Klopp and a frustrated, beaten down Mikel Arteta had that real argy bargy or pushes and the racer waves and overweight and teeth and hair helmets just flying everywhere on the sideline. And suddenly Liverpool walked out arsenal, a very different creature, a humble, confused being. It felt really like a must win for them to fend off just the season of panic meltdown feelings that are starting to swirl around a seismic 11 points behind arsenal out of touch of the legal leaders before kick-off desperate to prove themselves to themselves their previously well oiled machine. The degrees of precision lost in every single area and suddenly teaching, really, House of Cards in danger of falling down. Their vulnerabilities, obvious to all, you saw it in the pre game ceremonies just a bewildered Trent looking like the coolest kid in class who can't quite work out why he's the one forced to wear the kick me post out on his back and Klopp talked about wanting defensive solidity and attacking unpredictability before the game. That defensive stability, David. It lasted all the 58 seconds, holy crap. It was actually a little less an amazing move from arsenal so much speed on the counter so much swinging the ball from one side of field to the other. And older God, you know, when he gets the ball in the middle of the opponent's final third. You feel like he can put the ball anywhere to anyone in any possible way with any part of his body. He just made a beautiful pass straight down the inside of Alexander Arnold. Not being too defender Y at that point. And there he is, Martinelli, just whap it home. Before the game, my newsletter on Friday, I wrote about this game being all about how the hunter would become the hunted and what ensued was pretty well the worst scenario of what even I in my devious evil could have had in mind. It was only God that slide pass in between my tip. Beautiful. And poor Trent and Martinelli's finish was true. Delirium pandemonium Emirates just a live and then some arsenal really had just scored a goal that was ripped straight out of the Liverpool 2019 20 playbook. Clinical counterattack breathtaking and even more so when you realize it was their first goal against Liverpool in ten hours and 5 minutes to play. And

"Like, right now we see what they're 11 appears to be. And it's pretty good. The product has been fun to watch. When this stuff starts to pick away at them here and there and you start losing a guy for a match here, you know, zinchenko, it's not a long-term thing, but you lose him for a couple matches. You tell me who's scoring if Gabrielle Jesus comes out the team. I mean, Martinelli scored today, but you're right. Gabrielle Jesus generating so much. My book, but he would have to take up the lord and I think there's some drop off then after that. So if we weren't cowards, we would just say, yeah, yeah, they're going to do it. I think this is cowardice. No, I know it's not. I don't think I resent that. Now look, I don't want to be too negative here. The mere fact that we're mentioning this club in this sort of light says a lot about where arsenal, how far they've come. Jesus right now is a legit contender for signing of the season. Martin odegaard has taken the captaincy and run with it. He's looked really good. His some of his passing against Fulham. Over the weekend, he was brilliant. So it's great. Like this is as this is as up as this fan base has had reason to be in quite some time. So enjoy it. I'm just saying that if we're going to ask the question about whether or not you're there with city for the duration of an entire Premier League campaign, can't do that yet. Now we're not going to be cautious Colin for this entire segment, are we? We're going to I guess we'll find out. We're going to jump to something. While we're talking about arsenal, should we do all or nothing as I continue my journey through? You want to do it now? I don't know. We're talking about arsenal. I mean, we can. I'm happy to talk about it. I don't have too much. I think I'm 5 in. I continue to really be enjoying it. Like I've told you the stuff that I said a few weeks ago about granite jaka, how it's like they, it's like they heard me. The producers and I were clearly aligned in our way of thinking that he was someone in particular who's interesting because he's just not who you think he is. Like they do the whole section of the episode where they go home with him and his wife and he talks about the hate and how this is not who we really are. I mean, I couldn't be happier with that because it's literally what I asked for. So I love that. My only my only critique of what I've seen so far, I still like Arteta, some of his, some of his stuff, my God. Let's do this now then. Every time he gets into the huddle before a game, you're like, what is next? What gimmick is he going to come up with? Guys, guys, guys. Edison invented the lightbulb. What does a lightbulb need? Connectivity and any connects it open and people are just looking at him. I can't tell what I did not meet my wife, what is the place you read a book? A library. I did not meet her. Have a good night he's written on the board. We want to have a good night and then he talks about basically going out and trying to meet women in a nightclub. And there is just bemused faces. I think his shtick is. The players horrendous. They seem to like him. By the way, do I even Tony pulling up the Ivan Tony tweet from the first Brentford game? Where I even Tony's written had a nice kick around in the park with the lads. They see everything, pulling that up. The screenshot of it months later in the locker room. So things do. I'm like, what is he going to say next? For me, that's not really a critique. My only critique is with the Obama Yang stuff. So obviously that was a big deal. A bombing being dropped from the squad, losing his captaincy. Like obviously that was a big thing. But I felt like they went it occupied so much content over the course of like an episode and a half where when it was finally resolved and he was off to Barcelona, I was sort of like, oh thank God, we can get back to other storylines here. Yeah, 'cause it got a bit boring. Kind of, yeah. Rob holding appears to be just happy to be there. Happy to be there. Happy to fill in. Basically said, look, if my role is to come off the bench and do a job to lock down a win at the end of the game, fine. The other thing I noticed was the detail they went into with Kieran Tierney's injury. So the physio meetings are interesting. So yeah, Kieran, he came out with the shower and went to turn left and he said he felt his knee collapse, and I just wanted to get sick. Wow, that's a lot of detail. Very young squad as well. And some of the dynamics are funny. And like I said, they're kind of friendship is interesting to me. It's kind of funny. I like lockers that he seems like a bit of like good comic relief sort of to have. I do, but I do feel like every time our title throws to him to ask him, lacca, and like I said, what's he talking about? But Arteta must go to him because he knows latkes that can handle. That's another thing. There's very few as Roy Keane would say, senior pros. And very few big, big characters in that dressing room. I guess that's changed with Jesus and zinchenko. One thing that I did notice before we finished about it. And these documentaries are fine, but they all follow the same pattern. Like high angle shot of the training ground. The whole thing. It works for me though. I enjoy it. I do. It's fine, it's comfortable. It's like a warm pair of socks. One thing I found interesting was how upset he was when he had COVID and he had the tapes of training.

"On neves. Do you remember it? Was that like you welcoming the Premier League to toilet Adams? You'll see more of that this season for sure. I was waiting to get in a good tackle. There will definitely be more of those to help. The start though was not what you wanted, leads went behind inside 6 minutes. Was there a moment when you just settled in and internally in your head, you thought, my God. I belong here. We are doing this. We got scored on and then in the stadium, the fans started singing, marching on together. I figured, okay, maybe they do that when we score a goal, but to have them do that after we went down a goal was actually more empowering and gave me more energy than after we scored them. Because naturally, after you score go, you're gonna have that adrenaline, you're gonna have that amazing feeling. But when you go down a goal, you're searching for something to be like, give me a positive right now so I can go harder, run more fight harder, everything. And as soon as you start hearing them sending marching out together and Ellen wrote in 36,000 all perfectly in tune, it sounds like it gives you that energy you need and the team all just responded so well. It felt like after we went down a goal was actually when we played our best football and that whole match to be able to hunt impacts, go together, no one's gonna be able to go individually or else we're gonna get popped around and not be able to win the ball. And when we started going together, we found all sorts of success. We felt more comfortable with the ball. We were winning more balls. We were creating tons of chances, having more shots, and then we all of a sudden had this confidence. And as soon as we got the first goal, I felt in my head, we're winning this game. Incredible statistic. Only Martin odegaard of arsenal with 7.77 miles covered. Ran more distance wise in the opening round of Premier League games than U Tyler Adams 7.55 miles. Did you know that? Did you feel that? Initially right after I didn't feel it, probably because of the adrenaline, but I'll tell you, I'm feeling it out. I'm feeling it now. Different to a Bundesliga game. Oh, a 100%. The intensity of that game was a completely different level. It felt like more like a Champions League game in Champions League games, 90 plus minutes, you gotta be locked in and just completely aware of everything, whether you have to run more press more win more duels, more physical, you feel it. And then in this game, it's the first game of the season, everyone's still trying to gain their fitness gain their sharpness, but wow, it was physically demanding. We gotta talk about it. "If that's not a reason for a toast, I don't know what is. Oh, I want a raise. My third first butter the date to two truly magical teams in their inaugural seasons in the United States who have created models filled with joy and wonder and really giving us all immense hope for the future growth and the future values of football in this nation. First, Vermont green FC, a new USL league two team based in the truly beautiful town of Burlington, founded by 6 football loving mates. They launched a club earlier this year with a mission of embedding environmental justice into, well, pretty well everything they do on the field and off it. They've created a delirious fan culture, an incredible brand and all of it is authentic and deeply local and utterly utterly kinetic. You watch their fan base and you just want to jump in a car, drive right up to Vermont and revel in it all for yourself, which is really everything that's great about football. And on Friday night in the playoffs, despite playing much of the second half with ten gents, they handed top seeded lionsbridge FC, their first defeat of the season, two one. First round of the U.S. already two Eastern Conference playoffs. Come on from Mont green. They're now face the Long Island rough riders. Used to coach their women's team of New York and my lord God speed to them and two Minnesota aurora, a community owned women led team basically truly fanatical footballing region who came together when defeated all season. Again, a fantastic fan base who followed and packed and sold out game after sold out game. They went on the march, sat in its USL W championship game against the South Georgia tormentor, game deadlock, one at full time, aurora goalkeeper, one time kicker, Sarah fuller, just going full Tim Howard and down the stretch. Oh, she was magnificent but tormented Nick did in overtime. It is some first season where you're only lost comes in your championship game, but that model of the team, the leadership, the fan passion, the joy that stands out and blows me away. I raise my glass to more for them and for Vermont FC and all those who are building fan driven models of football that are grassroots that is how we'll truly thrive as a proper football nation. Courage. I love your passion for the grassroots soccer in the United States of America. Okay, to the Premier League football or Premier League pre season football with my club in my former hometown roger competing for your favorite trophy Chelsea getting absolutely battered by arsenal in the jam Lando Orlando humidity losing the Florida cup. Did they not know how seriously taken the Florida cup is in worldwide saka circles by a score of four two zero goals from Gabriel Jesus, Martin odegaard, bakaya saka, and Albert lokanga, complete a comprehensive drubbing Chelsea in crisis crisis crisis, grace. To lose any final is crushing. But to be thrashed, smashed. Schooled by arsenal football club in the Florida cup Devo. That one after losing on penalties to Charlotte FC, that is no bottom. You know, the Florida cup Dave, do you think they knew that to win it is a trap? Is that what they did? Is that why they decided not to really down tools? They didn't really help them to begin with it. Yeah, no, this seems still very excited or exhausted from their experience at Universal Studios, Hollywood, roger. That's the important part of training. I mean, it was bizarre. You know, any game against arsenal football club, I don't care that it's precedes, because a lot of people are gonna say it's pre season, what does pre season football really matter? Remember, certain José Mourinho, the last time Chelsea had an appalling preseason. I think it was 2015. And we said, oh, preseason. Preseason doesn't matter at all. And then he went on and get fired in December after they were something like 16th or 15th place in the league. They lost 9 games out of their first 16, I think, and just the Diego Costa bib started the fly at him on the bench. That is that you'd won the title. The season before, the parallel. I mean, two cool we should say is not Mourinho, the parallel is incredibly eerie day though, but I mean, how do you understand it? Because this game, yes, arsenal confident, they took two new lead. With goals, almost inevitable Gabrielle Jesus and a truly game Martin odegaard fantastic performance. But Kayo saka finished some DCL range and then the conga finished a route lately on huge crowd 64,000 in Orlando. Honestly, it could have been so much more for arsenal football club, odegaard was such a boss. What a season he has ahead of him. Arsenal looking very much in the shape of Arteta's vision, movement pay some predictability in the final third. We'll talk about them in a moment, but you Chelsea Davey, what's going on in your analysis? Well, it's interesting, right? You just said that the arsenal playing within the shape of Arteta's vision. This is a Thomas Tuchel team that lined up four three three with four defenders rather than 5 and one holding midfielder in georginio. So he was playing a very, very different lineup against a team he knows are going to come all out and play that attacking Arteta style arsenal football. And it was just, yes, they came out with very little passion. Yes, they came out with very little energy, but they came out in a shape that was that was strange. You know, part of me was thinking, is too cool just trying to send a signal to Todd Burley to say, you know what? I need more players. I need more help because it was a very un Thomas Tuchel lineup. Formation that he sent out there. And look, is a has been a fantastic defensive coach and the way he sort of righted the Chelsea ship was really with defense. They just stopped conceding goals. He put in that three man central defense, you know, two wingbacks who get forward selectively a double pivot in midfield and he locked it all down in midfield and but there have always been questions ever since sukha arrived at the club about his ability to get his offensive players working in the right way. And right now it's very tough to figure out what he's trying to get going offensively because none of the players seem to be playing in the position that suits them. None of them seem to be communicating with each other, particularly well. I thought Sterling actually I will give him an asterisk because I thought he actually had a very, very good preseason for Chelsea when he played. But it was yeah, it's shocking. And I think it's worrying and certainly worrying for many Chelsea fans, including myself. It's a wild reality took about that back line Thomas Tuchel spending a lot of pre season experimenting with a back four. A lack of steel in the midfield, that front three shifting sifting through the combinations looking for some kind of, well, anything life that hit the first front three raz mount and have it still looking far from gelling, so it's Deadwood in the squad. You know, there's an argument out there. You could pit like Callum Hudson the door, bats, Kennedy, Barbara and Ross Barkley, ruble Loftus cheek, and all of them could be moved on to have that kind of dead weight around your club around your locker room. It just sucks you backwards. But the fascinating is watching him and this moment, he really is sounding the full alarm fire, exasperated.

"It's super cold, I need my socks. Keep my feet nice and warm, baby. You sleep like a baby when you do that. Yeah, I used to do it in college when it was cold. That's correct. I do not, I don't endorse it. Wouldn't do it. Tried it in the sheets, I feel like they kind of get caught up down. Yeah, I tried it. It wasn't for me. And I agree with all the players that said it's zero serial killer stuff and you are a consistent. No, no, no. Went back in college. Why? There was a friend of mine Ronnie did it and he said, oh, keeps me warm when it gets cold. And I said, yeah, it's cold in my dorm room. So I tried it, and it was good. I don't like it. No? I don't like it one bit. Do you have any weird sleeping habits? I'm a mesh shorts, no shirt guy. Every night. Summer, I tend not to if I can get away with it, not wear anything. Oh, really? Yeah. This country is on feasibly hot. In August, it's ridiculous. You're forcing me to be naked in bed. Forcing me. I always pictured you as more of like a gown nightcap kind of guy. Pipe. Yeah. Copy of holding some kind of little candle. When I read correspondence from the front. Yes, some sort of like modern day ebenezer Scrooge outfit. Jeez. So Andre Blake, yeah, for bizarre sleeping behavior. You can't wear socks when you sleep. Don't do it. What do you have? Next season's schedule, Andrew. If you're longing for club football to return, it seems like you would have longed to wait. I couldn't believe this when I read it. As some clubs in the Premier League will start preseason early next week. And I thought, yeah, you know what? It seems about right. I still would play a friendlies on July 8th. That does seem normal enough if you actually factor in the calendar these days. But if you take a look ahead to next season, things are about to get pretty congested. I'm pretty intense. Mark Ogden did a little piece. The primary league Bond league and ligon. All get their season underway on the first weekend of August. What the league and Siri are starting a week later. So the biggest stars know they will have to be back on the training ground before mid July. It's the end of July now. Think about that, guys. That's just three, two, three weeks top. Think of it that way. We're gonna be doing our primarily preview. I know. Tavani realistic hope of being fully fit and ready for the new campaign. Just focus on England's top two for a second. When champions city who start their summer friendlies against club America in Houston on July 20th and efficacy pointers Liverpool meet in the community shield at the king power stadium on July 30th, it will be the start of a run of 24 games for Pep Guardiola's team through to the Premier League clash with Brentford on November 12th, just 9 days before the World Cup begins. Liverpool also have 24 games in stamp period. Both clubs need to cram in all 6 Champions League group stage fixtures, caramel cup tie before the start of Qatar 2022. There's an international break to be wedged into in September. Mark figured it out, there was going to be 24 games and a 105 days that's 4.37 days. Sorry, excuse me, that's a competitive fixture every 4.37 days. That seems like a lot. Now, there'll be plenty of people out there who look at city, buying highlander, look at Liverpool buying Darwin Nunez and they'll say, get on with it. You've got the squad's blah. But just long term for the physical future of a lot of these players. This World Cup is just, it's just a travesty. But I can't wait. No, honestly. I'm so excited about it. I haven't got there yet. I really haven't. I am so excited. Just the idea of a club season being that frenetic and then stop. And then there's going to be Caribou cup games, three days after the world called final finishes. Love it. All right. You know what? Started on Tuesday, actually. For us right now, we're recording on Wednesday night. So you know what began yesterday? No. The Champions League. The UEFA Champions League. Do you have any first round results from it? It's not even first round. We're in the preliminary round. Inter club de escalades of Andorra, I believe, defeated la fiorita to one. You're going to have to forgive me. I don't know where laf fiorita plays. SMR or the San Marino also. Maybe San Marino. Good job Colombo. When you weren't sure. And also talon of Estonia were defeated by Viking or Reykjavík of Iceland 6 ones. I hate that result, 'cause I'm a brighter blick guy. I have a brighter blue Jersey from Iceland, so anything that Reykjavík just means nothing to me. Well, they're going to be playing, they'll now play inter club disk all day so Andorra on June 24th. So in two days. And then the winner of that will move into the first qualifying round where there's a whole bunch of teams. That are going to be playing really, really soon. So the Champions League is underway, everybody. In case you weren't aware, it has begun. Let's see. Where are we now? We're back. We're in our final spin. Well, no, not even close. What do you mean? We're not there yet. No, no, no. We're only at our second meta the match, right? Right now. Caught off sides, man of the match. You put out a lot left JJ. This has become a very arsenal heavy podcast, but I was going to make Fabio Vieira. My man of the match here is arsenal have dove into the transfer pool. They splash 40 million. I've seen a couple different fees, but 40 million is what I've most recently seen on the FC Porto attacking midfielder, Fabio Vieira, 6 goals, 14 assists in league play last year and only 15 starts, which I found to be interesting. So he was basically the guy who capitalized from Lewis Diaz's midseason departure. Diaz left, Vieira stepped in and was brilliant to end the season. He's only 22 years old. There's not necessarily a really long track record for him. He's really had to work his way through the ranks and there were some good stories about him coming up through with other Portuguese players in some of their youth setup and watching these guys go off and get opportunities with their national team and Fabio Vieira always having to kind of wait his turn. Wait his turn. And it's sort of took Diaz leaving for him to finally get it. And he made the most of it. In those final 12 games, after Diaz left, he contributed 11 goals over that stretch. So now he really gets his chance. Now what's going to be interesting is sort of what we were talking about before with arsenal and Gabrielle Jesus. The question early on is going to be where does he slot in? Do they expect him to come in right away and be an immediate contributor, or is this more of a long-term play? Like I said, 22 years old. Is it going to be some kind of balancing act between him and Martin odegaard in terms of who's going to get the bulk of the opportunities right now? I would say otta guard is probably the choice. But we'll have to see. But I thought it was arsenal are trying to, they're trying to be aggressive. They're trying to keep up with some of what's been going on around them, taught them, obviously, or the team that they're always going to be looking at and Tottenham have been busy so far. And so arsenal are battling with them. You see a lot of the same names with associated with both clubs. Gabriel Jesus associated with both clubs, rafinha associated with both, although it looks like rafinha wants to be at Barcelona, but who the hell knows? So yeah, a potentially good move maybe for the present more likely for the future. Fabio Vieira formerly of FC ports on out with arsenal. So we'll see. We'll see how it plays out. What do you got? This is my second man of the match. Yeah. All right, okay. I was listening to Dion fanning. The editor of the currency talk about the fact we have no world copy right now. And that we should have a World Cup right now. When he called it cultural vandalism. Something is going to sweep in though and save us Andrew. We are going to have torn tournament football coming up next month. That's right, the UEFA women's Euro 2022. Nice. Thank God for it. I was looking at the groups today. Some really tasty ones, group a, England, Austria, Norway, and Northern Ireland. Now, a lot of familiarity.

"Yeah, and also we know we've seen enough Premier League campaigns and enough Premier League champions to know that sometimes you need to win these one little games that you don't play particularly well in or certainly you're not offensively particularly clicking. You mentioned earlier their back line, what I find so impressive is that they're still doing it with a four man back line, two central defenders and right back left back, who really plays wingbacks within that system and just get forward so much. It's just amazing what they do. An amazing how this team of constructed. It's amazing also how they can keep doing it mentally, how they can keep doing it physically when other players would stumble just Trent and Roberto just seem to keep on keeping on, take so much out of you, and on that note, a fascinating story, which trickled out and has not got the coverage that it probably deserves, but worth noting Jürgen Klopp at the end of the week hinted. He may leave Liverpool when his contract expires in 2024 and said he will only stay and feel if he quote feels he has the energy to lead the club. Just say when I read stories like that to reminder, nothing is forever. Let's enjoy what we have. Well, we have it. Yeah, it's going to be a fascinating fascinating run in. Watching Liverpool and city ply, they're beautiful crafts. Okay, Watford two arsenal three, a 5 goal stonker filled thriller in half on Sunday, Martin odegaard, opened the scoring in just the 5th minute, capping a move more expressive than his manager's browse Watford answered here a man as Colombian overhead kick that was sure reminded uncle Roy of the flying will lend us a sucker master blaster and a Martinelli missile which was started by his manager playing ball boy moved arsenal in front three one the awns, pulled one back on 87 minutes to make the experience as arsenal as possible, but they do hold on to win their fourth in a row, move into fourth place, a point ahead of united, having played three fewer games, games in hand roger. Yeah, then the cuckoo go as he probably reminded Roy of something very recent in this movie, the Wright brothers. Inventing flight, but we'll catch something.
