"And the the thing that martian was was kind of up on is that he felt like when he looked at the teachings of jesus he thought that that was in contradiction with what he read about god in the old testament and so he actually believed that the god of the old testament and the god of the new testament were actually two different deities and so with. Jesus being all loving and forgiving god of the new testament. You have this deity in the old testament. Who's who's just jealous. And mean spirited and petty and so he. He essentially rejected the old testament now. Progressive christians Probably wouldn't take it quite as far to say it's actually a different deity in the old testament but they definitely separate how god is portrayed in the old testament versus the jesus that they see in the new testament and so they'll often their answer to that Different little slightly different than marshon would be to say. Well anything you read. In the old testament that describes god in any kind of a violent or punitive way must just be the the writers best attempts to explain their beliefs about god. But that's not really who god was. So they like martian decide that that old testament god is is not the real god and so they'll they'll discard parts of scripture like martian did martian had his own canon and so I see similarities. There and and there are some others was really fun Chapter to right. Because i got to research some of these things and and kind of look for these similar points but yeah there's nothing new under the sun in fact i think that's what the chapter is called nutley. That's exactly right. That is the name of the chapter. And what are the other chapters. I've really enjoyed started off with a quote by dr bart ehrman and everyone who listen to this program knows who he is where he said. We can't know what was written. Because we don't have the originals. And i think he did really well in explaining why we can trust what the new testament says. How how did you contrast progressive christianity with the new testament. What are some of those differences. Well one of the big issues in the class. That i was in was i was.

"They won in a way that I think people aren't used to seeing that Saints Team Win and they've been winning this way for a little while now at least being capable of it. Jim Ers drew brees threw for on Sunday. Was it like one ninety or something sixty? Okay. Okay. Now, ask yourself this in two thousand, twelve, two, thousand, thirteen, two, thousand, fourteen with the Saints Win Games brees throwing for one hundred sixty yards absolutely not. So to me, that was so impressive and if you look down the line, right like Marcus Williams had that pick at full extension marshon lattimore had the Janoris Jenkins have had the pick six, right? You had mark hunt blocking a field goal. You had tastes them hill playing like this sort of slash role Emmanuel Sanders who I almost forgot was on the team for the first two quarters was huge on the drive that sort of put it away for the saints right making those two catches in the red zone fighting his way into the end zone, and then you see like Marshon Lattimore who? Got Mike Evans face early and my was a little beat up coming in and just completely took him out of the game and so. Like I know, a lot of people are focused on what Sean Payton said about play. What you drew brees is stat line looked like I was so impressed with the saints because a piece of their game that they've always been relying on the it's been their identity for the last fifteen years. Wasn't really there on Sunday and they still beat the crap out of the team that most people regard as the top contender to the throne in that division and to your point like I just brought up the year-by-year numbers for the. New. Orleans Saints Right and the last three years. If you go from seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, they went eleven and five, thirteen and three, thirteen and three, and in all of those years there point differential on. It was somewhere between one, twenty, two and say, one fifty one is really where where it came in at on average. So that's a pretty good point differential but to your point, it normally was the defense played well, because they played with the lead and we really underestimate I think in modern day football how balide lead is important to allowing your defense to settle in. Take some chances to be aggressive knowing that if you make a mistake, you're still going to be okay because you have a leader, your offense rolling and to me that was one thing that Sean Payton always had in his back pocket was that if I have to dial it up defensively and I get burned well, I got guys on the other side who can get down the field in two minutes and sort of even the score so To speak and I it's a good point that you bring up. Look I. Think I think what we saw from Tampa was they were clearly out of sync offensively and their offensive line did not play well but that was because the Saints Defensive Line played very well they made those guys play bad because upfront they got after it in a way that we're now becoming more accustomed to seeing out of the out of the saints you look at. It to me. It's how quickly they get out to the lead bill..

"Louis in Los Angeles Rams again Cleveland Browns and now the jets so he's he's about coach for half the League. Yeah keep job. Oh Man oh without you. Get back with all or nothing real quick. I'm GonNA touch on this. There was a game against the foul pins where a number eleven Tories Smith hit Cam Newton as he was sliding hit him in the head and yet is the one that got injected. Yes okay now. During that play Number Eleven Twenty Smith Hips Number Twenty seven a Democracy Casey Hits Newton as he slide hits him and the head. Everybody gets an uproar. We'll number eleven from Carolina Toy. Smith runs over and shoves Diamante Casey now Tori Smith got a personal foul for that it but he didn't get ejected and he didn't get to spend it and then number ninety eight McKinley attackers McKinley from Atlanta. He came in at hit number eleven. Your Mike Evans Hint Marshon Lattimore in the saints game and they suspended for a game afterwards we need to do that here. I don't know I was flown out of the game twenty-seven allocating the head on Cam Newton right but then the other guy comes in number laboratory Smith and hits I think it was a fight between two guys and they're throwing blows and one retaliates that's when they'll inject a both but I think I only got ojected because of the hit on Cam Newton not because of the fight with the other Guy Roy Ghost he gets objective but why wasn't Tori Smith ejected for a hitting twenty seven to Monday Qaisy. It's just like when Evans came over and shove lattimore. Everyone's got a game suspension for that knows so. What did you say any of that with this? I don't know I was thinking that whole exchange in Lattimore didn't like Davis Polk turned around and that's when Evans clocks them great extent. There's video of the children that are arguing about whether it's raining or spring-clean they're like little it went viral. You have to look at it and the one kid goes you poked my heart makes me think of he gets really upset because pokes them in the chest he could you see poked my heart any out to me. It just shows how were the red-headed stepchild for the N._F._l.. When crept link that happens every team in the N._F._l.? Sounds real the team are idiots and they're wrong. Speaking of the Falcons they the free they they're free agent safety J._J.. Wilcox they just signed in the off-season tour his A._C._l.. Won't play the whole season. They got a defensive end it. Didn't they Alan Bailey. They signed him to a two year five point two five million deal from he was he was a former chief defensive now just Sunday on their line. It sounds like they're gonNA need some depth on Jim. Medicine up over there in training camp has started but that was practice on the twenty second Wilcox. was he a rookie now. He's been all around the league he gets around around are are injured guys. We touch on this briefly with Justin Evans. The guys that we put on the populace is the physically unable to perform list. It was not just Justin Evans. It was also Jack Cinci outside Linebacker acker David Kenny and wide receiver Exhibitor Kubo See those guys need to step it up because I'm telling you are not gonNa make the team being on the list if you're not out there practicing and showing areas you stuff. You're not gonNA save your already got cut. Oh that's right because we signed. We signed two guys. We signed an undrafted rookie cornerback mazzy Wilkins he played at plant. I Dunno where that is in U._S._F.. And he was a triumph triumph player at our mini camp in May and then we also signed tight end Troy Nicklaus who played for Bruce Arians Arizona from twenty four eighteen to twenty seventeen so he's GonNa Compete for backup tight end job. Tom Tight end. This is the guy that the thad quote when Talking About Bruce Arians coaching style he said quote he gets my name confused with down motherfucker a lot. There worried said that at his press conference today he said if you're going to bring you kids out to the training camp. You might want to put some ahead. Moss Airbus plug their ears. It's not going to be family might hear some language as opposed to hear out there. Oh and he said no music you did you see that in the all or nothing with the panthers they just got stopped and came Newton. Their practice goes over to the D._J.. Center or whatever it was ahead over there pretty puts on this pop song. Oh No no what it was T._l._C.. Thank you okay. I'm pretty well. I'm a millennials on that. One talking about of course Greg Olsen knows all the words he's over there seeing it I I'm singing it to ignore and Greg Olsen singing and he's like trying to get all pay attention. It's going I know other words basically so Cam Newton goes on he's blast and then it's an Thomas gets pissed off because apparently he's like hey we should be out of your haven't flown. He hated the song it was the song he's the fun police. He's the that turns it off and then walks all the people at the team anymore that joking yeah the defensive coordinator you gone. Oh Brian Linger signed with the Texans he did Bruce Arians was talking about the kicker situation in its press conference sounds to me like Matt. Gay is the favorite to win this one the way he said it yeah he's looking for. I'm looking for somebody that can kicked long. Make a long line when we need it at fifty plus yarder which that is not Cairo Santa's didn't he kick a really kick like a fifty three yard game winning Field Goforth last unit ONA saves against McCain Remember improbably but he doesn't have the leg that gave us I guess for for what we've heard right as apparently hiccup afoot talking about raised roof in the practice facility because he's going to one. They're not using that anyway. Maybe maybe that's why because he can't he keeps hitting the ceiling. He's a kicker. He's not opponent. He's hitting the roof. Is that good I don't. I don't know if it's good but it is so what he's got a strong leg. I think there are being facetious funny sarcastic. I like how you you gotTA. Give me a synonym for your big words. Oh my dummy J._p.. Got On the top one hundred list number sixty five. It just came out like fifteen minutes ago the sixty thou- not bad I'm glad did you put on a Gerbil coordinating. I know but I it's going to be all year. I've been coming up without buccaneers drinking game for the for the season he then this and I was just thinking we do over the podcast where you gotta take a drink every time you mentioned John McCall away to sloshed edit. It was ranked seventy fifth on this stupid N._F._l.. Top One hundred live okay here. We are good for J._p.. He got number sixty five this. This is awesome stupid when people but I mean Joe McCoy stance any better they were listening to seventy fifth now make it on their last year mccoo since these things are just popularity contests just like a pro bowl. Did you hear that Mark Sanchez is officially retiring. No no no football is one of the greatest N._F._l.. History like his best season spectator because this is my favorite Jon Gruden moment ever Ralph and I about died and now seen in a Monday night football game when Sanchez is he with the jets or the eagles jets and it's a crappy game for Sanchez like he's just getting stopped and you know how Jon Gruden basically okay kisses everyone's ass when he's announcing the game and it's bad for Mark Sanchez and he's sitting on the sideline. He's looking at a binder. He's got his hands his heaven his hands to sit like kinda clutch attended hair like pulling his here a little bit and Jon Gruden goes. I don't know what's going on with Mark Sanchez. It looks like he's doing calculus down. There and Ralph and I like look at each other to Jon Gruden. Just call Mark Dumb. The the playbook was just too much for him was bad. Never forget that but I was watching that game you were sleeping on your member. Meet Waking you up and being you've got to see play. He just fumbled the ball. uh-huh running into his offensive line was hilarious. He had that one good season and he just looked like he could be an elite quarterback. They get to the N._F._C. Championship lives and then it was all they are the jets are just the shit organization from top to bottom. They're just bad ownership Batman everything they don't. They don't care in their division. They'RE GONNA wait till go belichick. Tom Brady die before even try and retire higher. They'RE GONNA die. It's win. Nobody remembers those two then that's when the jets might actually start trying to win games but I wouldn't play for the jets for nothing. I'm play where for the browns before I play for the jets. Go to the jets as your career dies. I can't think of anybody the early come from the jets that does done anything poor todd bowles he goes there. It just gets dumped on for three or four years for years and you know I mean he's brought good coach but just they just horrible for him. Sanchez had stood no chance no chance and then by the time he'd left the jets. He was ruined. Yeah John Jets just a bad bad organization. They're right. I think if you rank like as far as organizations are concerned Miami's up there to WHO with a bad organisation ownership and all that stuff front office put jets are just. I don't know man it's special fan. Do you think they're like the red-headed stepchild of New York City 'cause they have the that attitude of being the debt like the working class by the Blue Collar New York team there the bargain bin Pittsburgh steelers players on their team but speaking of Pittsburgh steelers in be as press conference today remember during our quarterback whisperer podcast he was talking about Lou Gehrig and the other guy wally while he pippen and that wally was the starter the starter he got hurt. Lou gehrig comes in while he didn't start another game. Never missed a game for nineteen years or some crippling right just totally took his job. Nobody's Sir Pinson right you. Lou gehrig is a household name sal be like to tell the story to his players say so don't get hurt. Someone's GonNa take your job. Don't get hurt. Someone's GonNa take your job and be be prepared to take somebody's job yeah. He said that in the press conference today that the the Most Valuable Player on the team is the guy that's ready to fill in for the guy that gets hurt so he also said he needs to come up with a news story because no one knows who gary against all these young. You guys have a clue who is talking about and whippersnappers. Stay on my lawn media-bashing here typically time..
Which college produces the best NFL talent?
"A special edition of N._F._l.. Live on deck today at the N._F._l.. Celebrates one hundred season just six weeks away however we are just five weeks away in college. Football Opens It one hundred fiftieth the anniversary so today welcome N._F._l.. You were combining the two worlds to answer age-old question what college produces the best n._F._l.. Talent however I'm Wendy net sand Hutus here you know what's better to be on this panel our expert notice icy expert telling me when Lewis Minute of her panter on the list not on the House for back the quarterback guru he and his brother in a lot of N._F._l.. Games James A lot and Ryan Clark. You see the L. L._S._U.. They are ills college football. L. Is Jonathan Vilma bike. He will join US shortly. He happened to win a National Championship and Oh by the way a super bowl as well coming up on N._F._l.. Live will break down position by position which college produces the best quarterback Oklahoma has the number one overall pick the last two years we have the top ten plays all the N._F._l.. Superstars when they were in college and answering big question which school produces the best all time N._F._l.. Talent we had to ask the players themselves to kick things off. We're the first pick quarterback Oklahoma Viva say Oklahoma Alabama Clemson because proven it is one atop factory the Ohio state highest in Alabama. 'cause I never lost beat out. You really can't understand it into your inside. Sadness programming is all about the you for N._F._l.. Because of Georgia in every aspect but I think L._S._U.. CRESA environment of gray competition and guys is trying to feed off of IT University of Pittsburgh. You Got Dorset. Dan Marina you got Larry. Fitzgerald was not a me show. It's about having everybody involved in working for the Sandal clumps in would cushman he's been doing. He's making people believe everything is possible for House is the best our stop it. Stop stuff well. Let's start shall we with the most players from each college currently in the N._F._l.. Alabama leads the way with V with sixty five players players followed by Ohio state in second place with fifty eight so we're going to debate these schools I in terms of who is best at producing N._F._l.. Challenge here's a tale of the tape on Alabama at Ohio state success since the two thousand draft folks tools I have had thirty one first round picks the most of any school while the Buckeyes have thirteen more total picks in the last twenty drafts but Bama's players have been slightly more successful in the league producing three more pro bowlers than Ohio St Louis Rick. Let's start with with the crimson tide. They're starting eleven if you will offense and defense current N._F._l.. Talent there's any question that these are both very impressive lineups that if Alabama can roll these teams out there right now now. I think they'd win a few games without a doubt. If you look at the offense aside outside of the ball the first thing that jumps out of these starting eleven are the two wide receivers look Julio. Jones is one of the finest athletes in the N._F._l.. For guardless of position he's in the news right now because he's about to get a new contract extension and he's really one of the he's one of the transcendent players at the position that this game the scene Amari Cooper the same way. When Amari came out of college? I remember doing his tape in thinking point honestly as far as catching one pet and run wide receiver. I hadn't seen one as good as him as him. In a long long time on the defensive side look they have fine players throughout the eleven here really that when you get to the secondary and you guys like Eddie Jackson Landon Collins I mean these guys are disband tastic players on the front dont`a hightower our multiple time superbowl winner. These are great great players right here. Make our way to Columbus shower of the to Ohio state you go to the offense side of the football. Look the first thing that jumps out without a doubt as Ezekiel Elliott because if he's not the best running back in the N._F._l.. He would be considered a top three running back in the N._F._l.. Wide Receiver Michael Thomas Really someone who was unheralded coming out of college. He's a tremendous tremendous. Pro will probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. In short time then move over to the defensive side of the ball this this is where really this football team really kind of jumps off the board starting up Front Joey Bosa Cam Hayward those are two of the best defense alignment in the N._F._l.. Right now and then when you look down there at the Secondary Malcolm Dyson Dinkins Denzel Ward Marshon Lattimore doesn't let's get much better than that. All right Jonathan Vilma made his way again surly qualified to weigh in on this discussion. Look I mean there's a shortage of talent with either of these squads. It's almost ridiculous factory and a lot of ways both of these institutions but let the debate again a Ryan Clark. You can't pick L._S._U.. Just yet but when you look at this group what stands out L._S._U.'s better than both of these things we're gonNA get to that. We're supposed to be talking outlets. Let's be honest. There's amazing players. Neither one of them have a quarterback right before proven yet though little I mean why don't we always have to see something first before we can get you well Ray Richardson running back right you saw God compare that with you why time gentlemen we're GonNa play Nice Got Ninety minutes ago. You're the Glenn Difference from every other position that we're looking at okay fair enough now back to you Louis. It is a production results oriented industry. Is it not so it is fair to say seeing something. Does one believe they'll be success won't sure but I mean we're we'll see this is kind of like a combination of what they have done in college. What some of these guys have done in the pros in some of it's a little bit of projecting about what they're gonNA continue to do in the pros? That's how I'm going to expand it to that all right so at quarterback quarterback Dwayne Haskins I believe right now. There's no comparison as far as I don't care what A._J.. McCarron did it Alabama cows tape. Those Wayne has close exact Haskins is going to be a fine football player. What's going to happen to him? Really is going to be more predicated on what Washington redskins overall due to him then what he does to himself. I firmly believe that as far as these rousers overall look the wide receiver position Julio Jones Amari Cooper. Julio Jones's the standard if you go and look N._F._l.. For an offices and look in their scouting books books every team has a standard at every position that they put for scouts the suit for as far as whenever when their scouting people polio is going to be on that list for for many many teams he's about as good as it gets so skill positions at Alabama are awesome. The defensive players at Ohio State is what stands out for me as far as their front seven is concerned particularly their defensive line and their secondary Denzel Award Marshon Lattimore. You tell me a team that wouldn't take those two young men right now and startled. Let me ask you a specific question since you spend some time as an analyst watching these players at the collegiate level if you had to choose either of this group Alabama Ohio state who's players really got better or who took a bigger step forward than you anticipated when they got to the N._F._l.. Out To you to dance your last part no neither standout. They're pretty equal because watching these guys watching Jonathan Allen he played okay well Dante. I'll tell you knew who is going to be tremendous player defensive player C._J.. Moseley's same thing and then you go to the other side and you look at Joey Bosa Nick Bosa Darren like Malcolm Jenkins. I play with Malcolm Jenkins in in New Orleans knew he was going to be a study. He's Philistine but what is surprising how fast or House they defense is. I did not realize how fast defensive you think big ten you didn't big Brawley guys not so fast but these guys can move joey. Bosa also can move nick volks in Darren League. We know the Burner Malcolm J. Denzel War March. I mean that is a very very talented athletic fast fast defense. I thought I was going to jump in your rookie. I think that's a great question Wendy about as far as what teams teams have players that have gotten better pros. You look at Ohio state this look at their offense. In particular Michael. Thomas was a good wide receiver to hire Stayton. He's fantastic now. He's GonNa be highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. Andrew Norwell most people wouldn't even know Andrew Norwell well what from Andrew Doorbell he right now just judge Moore Norwell can't open open some N._F._l.. Spectacular and even on the defensive side of the ball. I didn't think Marshon lattimore. I've liked Marshon Lattimore at Ohio state. I didn't love Marcet. He has taken his game to another level as well in the really own Alabama side you know how I feel about Alabama I feel nick and what he does and how he builds his program but really focus on their offense align that was just look okay and think about that question. Wendy Wendy asked how many players have gotten better how many have continued to improve Andre Smith may have his best days at Alabama. Dame's carpenter has really been good pro Brian Kelly the jury still out he could be a he's a good player. He's GonNa play already in Indianapolis D._J.. fluker was he ever ever really that guy that dominant guy no. He hasn't been Cam Robinson. Have you seen story so it's interesting because they're preventing people have been many people who've hit Alabama and said they get the best out of their players at Alabama. Maybe it's good discussion legal where people go by what teams there drafted so we look at Michael Thomas he falls into a place where he needs an accurate passer and he's one of the most accurate passers all the time also about the place you land in ashore and how they develop you ask Josh Rosen he absolutely he knows that all too well. I ten Hasselbeck. The whole point of this is to pick one of our producers here a little bit we talked. I'm going Alabama mainly change quarterbacks. Yeah I think looks great point about the offensive line at Alabama because so many of them when you look at them just in terms of body type you're like Oh my God look at those guys body type wise but like I don't know that some of those guys have come in and be like Oh and they got a whole lot better. We're obviously splitting hairs here on this ongoing Alabama Lewis Sorry Nick. Oh from a hustle change your mind or did you stick the way said one because I don't care if between Haskins hasn't played. I think he's I think he's in the saints. Stratosphere is A._J.. McCarron so I like that I liked it their offense of line one of the things that talked about how they develop those guys on the defense aside but they're fun four plus their secondary this going with them Ryan Clark you have to pick one while I was brought here for one reason in one reason only when the Knicks because everyone knew it my answers it would be and what Tim Hasselbeck has proven is. You don't need a quarterback. That's really he's GonNa be Ohio state in Alabama that don't have quarterbacks guess what we don't need a quarterback back and by the way you don't want our first off was good enough for Bill Belichick your boy to draft him as Tom Brady's heir-apparent draft. We thought they they went to L._S._U.. Because this guy has what they decided to we throwing the ball all around the field Andrew Whitworth he's played a thousand years. There's a Guy Jerry go look at the Neil hundred may has like negative two percent body fat Michael Broncos out. There aren't key. We gotta wait on them but it's are are you at the back of position. That's all we got mad. I gotTa get here all even have to work conviction when you spoke scissors. I'm sorry I just so tim. I love your twenty. The result is that Marshon astronauts will need to operate with a degree of autonomy. My who K posthumously or you know, rally, of course, and Martinez and Mike Mussina both elected and as well any issues with them getting into the hall. I Edgar Martinez, obviously was was long overdue. I mean, the narrative that you know, he was a D H. And that's not a full position. I laugh at that. You know, he's like saying Marianas Rivera Mariano Rivera closer. He's not. He's not a starting pitcher D H is a position this is one of the best right handed hitters I ever saw my life. And by the way, own Mariano Rivera. So he deserved to get in well before the ten years that passed, and that's for ROY halladay. You look at that nine year stretch. He was about as good as anybody. He deserves to be in. And you know, the sad part about that is that he's not going to be here to enjoy it. No question. What about you've seen? What are your thoughts on him? I thought he was born line. The fact that he pitched his entire career in the American League storing the steroid era and did as well as he did in ring up two hundred and seventy wins. I certainly understand him getting in. I was a little stunned that you know, only a couple of years ago at twenty percent of the vote. So somehow he picked up a lot of oats in a short amount of time. But I also look into this. Way Steven if he's in why isn't Curt Schilling, and why isn't Andy Pettitte, and why did David Cone get under five percent of the vote now of those four men, I just name. And again, I believe that Messina belongs in. But if you had a game to be started and your whole life depended on it. Whether you lived or died, would you want Messina schilling cone or Pettit? I say a lot of people might say of those four Messina would be fourth year because I'm looking at Curt Schilling right now seventy on the ballot only receive sixty point nine percent of the vote two hundred sixteen Windsor three forty six ERA and eleven and two record with point two three in one hundred and twenty strikeouts. In nineteen postseason starts. I definitely get your point right there. We're talking to Mike. Okay. Right. Here was Stephen ESPN radio. ESPN news Barry Bonds, Roger Clements, obviously. When people take about them both of them were in their seventh year on the ballot. Roger Clemens received fifty nine point five percent of the vote. Barry Bonds received fifty nine point one percent of the vote. First things first are you cool with that? And Secondly, do you think they'll ever get a point where they get in before this vote? I thought they were definitely going to get in three more years. But the fact that they jumped only about a percent means that the anti PD faction has really dug its heels in and they're not going to move. I don't think they're going to get in. And that's also impactful for Alex Rodriguez who said today, I think early with you guess that he's got root for them because if they get in and he's got a good chance of getting in. I'm not sure if it impacts David Ortiz because it's still kind of murky whether or not that was a failed test on the on the baseline report. And what it meant Rodman stood stood up for him this year talking about it. Everybody knew of going to happen except you because you such eagles ater because they have a Super Bowl in the last ten months, and you guys don't have one and the last twenty years, and you still upset about that. I'm not upset about that. I just saw with my own two is that Nick foles plays quarterback for Philadelphia better than Carson Wentz ever played. What about? Which game last game. The last time you saw you. So you I oh, oh, yeah. I saw him driving deep into New Orleans territory and hitting alshon Jeffery with a seminal moment pass that went right through his hands. And it might be either the best or the worst thing that ever happened to your man Carson wins W. I N. Right. Yeah. Because something happened right there. Because either you got taken off the hook not by Nick falls. He didn't throw it to. Marshon Lattimore he threw it to Al, Sean. It went right through his hand. It was a shot homing. There's just one other pig. Good throw. I thought he's up fourteen nothing in that game more team points in the first quarter zero the road. I show you over the last nine games. New Orleans has the second best defense in football to Chicago's. So what are we see on the resume? Here. We see Nick fall sixty eight touchdowns to thirty three interceptions. That's really good aided by the twenty seven and two Bayless, and you always at twenty seven and two under chip Kelly chip Kelly, then you say all he went elsewhere. He was a disaster. Guess who head coach was one year and Saint Louis it was the quarterback killer. Jeff Fisher who has ever been able to play quarterback for Jeff Fisher. He's harder to play quarterback for then Jon Gruden is. Am I right? So that's just abberration just wipe it off to slow with the measure question. Why? And how was he allowed to go to the Rams if he was what you said he wasn't feeling. How did he ever get on what he played a playoff game against drew Brees? And he put him in position. He drove the ball with four minutes left down for the tush and put them ahead. Okay. So drew Brees drove at the rest of the time. He ate the whole rest of the clock up and got our walk off field goal for Shayne Graham, what happened to the rest guy that he was well, well, let's look at what he just did he beat the defending NFC champs last year in the Atlanta Falcons. Ashley, then he beat the number one defense in all appropriate ball. You're Minnesota Vikings obviously in Philadelphia, then he hung forty one on the genius bell. Check in the the quarterback with Bella Bella checkout. He didn't outplay Gundy. Well, he didn't have. Three seventy three to five. Oh five. I think Brady pretty much outgun photo. But Nick foles was the MVP and he deserved to be the then this should he goes to Chicago and beats the number one defense. Cody Parke's weird bizarre doing a press tour, and then he's driving for what I thought. I'm just sitting back my living room saying this is it it's foles magic. Again. He's driving deep into of you know, what was coming twenty one. Why were you rooting so hard for Philly? I like Nick foles, you wanna fill it with you wanna Dallas that you would hope it down if we get a whole play by then that was I've no off you that was over it would've fun. I have been rooting. "Media group, the wonderful former colleague vine Doug Ferrara's here. Doug, how're you? Bill. How are you? Good. I am a little surprise. We didn't get any upsets. And I am also surprised at the game that ended up coming closest to one as the game. We're going to start about here, which is the eagles saints game a game or the eagles started. I think it's surprising to say at least to me got up fourteen nothing in the first quarter. And then basically did not do anything else on offense for the remainder of the game. The saints rolled off twenty consecutive points to win the game. Of course, they had a a little bit of a late scare it be missed field goal by will lutts and the ensuing eagles drive which ended with the Marshon Lattimore interception off the Sean Jeffrey dropped but Doug start here. In terms of this game. In terms of what changed over the course of the game. Why were the eagles succeeding early in this contest on offense? And what were the factors that caused them to basically just shut down and shrivel up on offense for the remainder of the game? Happened and over the last few seasons. It's been in the the sort of Morphing Dennis Allen's defensive loss than really weird because you tend to start off a season playing a lot of his own all of complimentary coverages, and then he realizes all I don't really have the players for that. And you need us to mand slash match slash slash press. Covers and as to follow people more as opposed to you know, kind of a homogeneous, you know, go with the guy you're closest to kind of thing. The touchdown. I mean that was just a blown coverage. But in general what happened in the second half and flows. Had a lot of deep incompletions in the second half was couple of thin. Lattimore Marsano more started shadowing on Jeffrey. And and the saints played a ton more press coverage. They also started running some games and stunts to pressure flows because the saints realized okay, this is three step drop quick out offense, and we have to at least get full off his spot on those types of throws it certainly winning five to seven step drops as he ever see has two for more deep stuff. They have to get to them and full has never been a good passer under pressure, one of the reasons that workout Celo freedom last year was they kept in relatively clean. We'll spent. Not only got pressure on fools, especially in the deep stuff. I I don't have the numbers. But I would imagine he was at least like Oprah four or one for five on stuff twenty year. More in the second half. It just didn't work and part of that was press coverage to disrupt his reads part of it was just this pressure in his face with his do. Oh with us, and you know that change there. I would say on the other side of the ball. And I wrote about this last week to the certainly the concentration of saints fans who were only on Twitter for a couple of days that drew Brees is driven. It did not have the December. He was greatly affected by pressure and especially pressure in his face, which is getting a lot of which with the saints offensive line having their own issues, he tended to shorten his follow through on rose and the Lancashire reception was exactly another example of that for whatever. The reason Philadelphia was not getting pressure in the second half breezes. The move around the pocket find the furring lanes. Like he does so well and complete those passes. Michael Thomas, also made some great contested catch receptions, which is certainly going to have to do in the NFC championship game. Because he's about to be a key to leaves best, buddy. But those were the things that changed for me in the second half. There is let's let's unpack those a few different things to talk about there. We can begin with the saints defense. Were you surprised? They didn't start this game with Marshon Lattimore shadowing, all Sean Jeffrey. I said give them the tendencies where I think it's funny. I I was reflecting on this this morning on what how like the chargers. Played that, you know spot drop cover three things breeding to everyone celerity man coverage. And it was even worse because they're not a band coverage. Not man. They're not man covers personnel. I think in the selling wants his team to play good zone..

"Sees that really. And then the offense that enough this. This is the first defense the only defense of the Sean Payton era that would have allowed their offense to come back in this game. The fact that they allowed under a hundred yards in the last three quarters that a game so one-sided in the first quarter. When you look at the final stats in this game ends up being totally one side of the other way. And the saints weren't perfect on offense. Even in the final three quarters. They had a few. Mistakes here and there, but their defense was so solid. They kept coming. And I just think after this game. You can you can almost picture if the saints are to win the Super Bowl, you just picture those post game press conference saying like, you know, that first quarter of the eagles game like that. You're the second quarter. Like, that's where we learn what we were made of to be down fourteen nothing against the defending champions in for every side of the ball defense offense to just stand up and get it done. Like, that's something you can build on say you've been doing this too long. When you already worried about what they're gonna say at the rise. Does it you know, what I mean, though, it is. I mean, that's a cliche, but it is a gut check game. It is kind of a championship. Impressive level performance to be able to bounce back from a situation like that. I'm with you an inbetween to Marshon Lattimore picks that really changed this game. The eagles went to sleep with four five straight points on five straight possessions. And there was reason I thought to come into this game a little concerned about the saints defense after it was. None other than Kyle Al in the backup Panthers quarterback downstairs in the newsroom. Greg searching first name called him. Johnny Appleseed took the saints apart in week seventeen just in a mysterious way. And then you've got the first two drives from the eagles thought their magic is continuing the saints are in hot water here. But then it's almost like the eagles were tank of gas that just ran out and they went completely to bed after that second. Touchdown foles interception with huge. I mean, there's a lot of big plays. But you're up fourteen nothing you're at midfield in foles has thrown about one of these week where it's like he's feeling himself. And he's just going for any through kind of an unforced error interception in that to me. They were going in for three score lead potentially help change the game. That was a turning point in the game another turning point in the mirror to calls this weekend that I absolutely love from an onion standpoint. And we'll get to the other one later it happened last night at the Coliseum here in LA. But the call for me was fourteen nothing. And the saints are desperate to get something going there at their own thirty yard line at a fourth and one and Peyton, you know, Sean, Payton guy, that's not afraid to do anything whacky. He he can get whacky on third and one it's a penalty a hold on Ryan ramczyk, and they decline it. The eagles new because they say, oh, they're going to punt it away and Sean pay decline..

"Here. What rules by ways? Marshon Brooks played at the bulls Secere will books as already been waived. Of course, a Evans outta there. And seldom I'm hopeful that he's going to get a chance to earn two minutes at backup shooting guard. He's obviously not gonna start that's going to be being. I think even at small forward, you could potentially get some time. They're gonna start Chandler Hutchison. Certainly since he's more part of the future in theory. But I think seldom should get twenty minutes a game on this group. I think he's certainly deserves more time than Antonio Blakeney or Raleigh Alcon. Sue who's on a two way contract with them. I like him better than Arshi Aquino as well. So he'll be in the mix with Shaq no Shaq Harrison as well. But I think Seldon has more tools than either of those guys when you consider his potential shooting ability ability to get to the basket and pretty good strength. So they're gonna have to get something more out of him defensively. But he does have some potential to me I like him better than basically any guard that they have a who's not in the starting lineup. But we'll see whether they agree there from the coin perspective. Yeah. Yeah. He was. But we're I was going from a team building perspective. There's also the element that Seldon if they if he does well enough. They can retain them. I mean, it's possible that he gets an offer sheet, but low cap hold low qualifying offer totally find it to bring him back. You could even you know, if they have some vaunted use for all of their cap space. They could use that and then match on Selden or whatever or just straight up signed him after that. So I think they should give him a real shot. I I think that would be a mistake not to especially when you consider the general lack of like real high end upside there other guys I really like Jack Harrison, but I'm not here. Saying shack Harrison's going to be like a real high end player in the future. I just like him being a part of a team. So if you can give Selden the lion share, or at least the highest share of the minutes of any non starting guard. I'd be happy with it was moved to the Cavs. Now, we may take a little bit less time. And then since we only had two questions, and we've talked about one of them relatively recently there, but they are eight and thirty two Alwyn nine since last fifteen and sixty thirtieth in net rating now negative eleven point to their offensive rating one oh five point nine twenty fifth defensive reading is one seventeen. That is thirtieth and that is thirtieth by one point nine points per one hundred dad is just so bad. The Knicks are twenty ninth in that low noted this that I think relative to league average, they are they might be even the worst defense MB history right now. So yeah, I guess it wasn't LeBron last year. Oh, the to have some new guys they're so let's start with this which JR gets traded first. Tim Hardaway junior. JR auto porter, jR, JR or JR Smith S A S daddy share Smith, the reason for that being that his old CBA non guaranteed contract is grandfathered in. So is guaranteed about three million of the eighteen million that is due next year. And so that could be a way for another team to reduce salary and wave him. But the reason in particular that that's a valuable contract is he could be traded at that full value because it's old TV where he new CBA he would count as three million. Outgoing or I think it's eighteen million outgoing and three million incoming us. Basically makes them extremely difficult to make the math words unattractive, unless you're trading him into cap space, essentially, so that's actually could be a way for a team to reduce salary by trading for him and waving him and the Cavs could take on salary despite not having any cap space really this summer. So I think he's more likely to get traded porter is just such a big contract. Same thing with Hardaway a both those guys are negative value on their deals, they can both still play a porter more so than Hardaway in my opinion. So it's interesting to think about, you know, maybe you'd say Hardaway's just gonna get traded in the Knicks will give up an asset to move him..
NBA: Last name confusion led to failed 3-team trade
"John render Willie three team trade crumbled on Friday after the confusion over the surname Brooks, Memphis that they were dealing journeyman guard. Marshon Brooks Phoenix insisted it was youngster Dillon. Brooks trade ended up getting consummated finally Saturday didn't end up involving dentists reader Brooks sons, greater trade, Trevor a razor to the wizards for Kelly Oubre in Austin rivers, ESPN NBA insider, age rewards, Naski on the original confusion. This was literally to teams who who say that the other dukedom Memphis insists that they always were talking about Marshon Brooks that they would have never done Dillon Brooks in a deal though, he's been injured. But you know, he was a second round pick two years ago. Oregon very different kind of player there. Marshon brooks. Marshon Brooks is close to thirty. And he's bounced around he's been in and out of the league. He's been overseas and back woodshed that things will work out for Trevor arisen Reza size a one year fifteen million dollar deal in Phoenix. They had overpay in the marketplace to get him on a one year deal. You take the money from a really bad team. And you weigh that versus taking probably half that stay in Houston or go to another contending team may be on their mid-level exception, and you're out of there before Christmas. So you got your money. Trevor REEs a very good defensive player.
