Whose name is linda jaramillo from marshall university medical school. We did this. Small pilot study found that they had a sixty five percent reduction in those symptoms. In only six sessions. We then did at the. I did myself. I did without lendup. "It means that In this business. I've had great coaches and great players and the over under on that, probably in my first year of Notre Dame. I don't think they expected he didn't make it that long. Bc led by the way, 10 3 Before Notre Dame outscore the Eagles 28 6 the rest of the first half. The Irish improved the eight No. Overall seven and opened a CC play Heather damage On Game night with the subject No to Dame finishing unbeaten. I am still honestly a little bit leery about the Friday game at North Carolina. Remember, they've got their last couple games on the road they finished at Wake Forest. That's a postponed game. I don't think they'll have any trouble there. I just think that you know, North Carolina knowing they're well coached team. I think we learned a lot about Notre Dame, though tonight and I do think you are right because Brian Kelly has been talking for weeks now about learning to be consistent. Playing in the championship level being elite and if you beat clubs and you can't lose the Boston College the next week, and they didn't do that, and it was really close, and they kept finding ways to win and eventually pull ahead and get it done, so I don't think they should. But I also don't think that they can relax because it's not going to be easy to go to North Carolina on a Friday night, and when 50 years ago Saturday, the Marshall University football team was heading back from North Carolina when their plane crashed just short of the runway in the worst disaster in U. S Sports History. The devastating plane crash kills 75 members of that thundering herd family. On that anniversary, the 16th ranked thundering herd playing Middle Tennessee from the 28 yard line, the shotgun snap. The Wells has good protection throws deeper. Gamage left side of the end zone, He leaps and Corey Gammas hat. Was a touchdown heard he.

"But sometimes i just i i yeah i don't i don't love the way it makes me feel. I was up until about three thirty last night. Is it connect you back to your journalism days. Do you feel that journalism rush of like. I'm in the middle of it. This is history at all. No because i mean a so. I did a stint as a sort of statewide reporter on the two thousand eight election for mtv news. I don't really talk about that a whole lot. Because it was just such a weird thing. They had representatives. They had like teen representatives not team. I guess like twenty twenty one but they had young representatives from each state covering the state for for the two thousand eight presidential election which was obamas election for the first term and it was so like the writing was so on the ball. Maybe not in west virginia necessarily but like everywhere else that it was. I dunno exciting. I was at marshall university and so like talking to marshall students was like typically like pretty exciting and made me like have to give a shit about the election. In a way that i really hadn't hadn't before because i was coming from i mean the last presidential election. I was coming in from fairly sheltered. Yeah participation the political. I would wasn't particularly political. I was i. Was you know a left leaning. But like when i was like embroiled in the especially like in in in the southern baptist church where we grew up like those. Those leanings weren't necessarily Catered to or nourished or tended to in any kind of way. So yeah the two thousand eight election just like a fucking sugar rush because it was like i'm learning about all these things while also sort of blossoming into my my liberalism and this doesn't feel like that yeah. I don't know how he got off talking about that. But before we get into the re-litigating do you have any small wonders that you are kind of kind of into kind of excited about You know i'm gonna say i'm gonna say Holiday decor okay. It's been a more appealing to me this time around. I was never somebody that you know. Really really went hard in the in the seasonal seasonal trimmings. Yeah but this year. I've found it really helpful and kind of like both like helping our son kind of get get adjusted to time as it pass. Yeah but also to kind of remind myself and make things feel different so we had halloween a little window clings yeah nice talking to griffin about. How maybe we get thanksgiving window. Clings and maybe we call a window. Cling failing rambo comes around. Oh my god criminal an hannukah. How many how many manar an offer each room. Let's go yeah. I think. I'm gonna be pretty insufferable about that this year because we're not doing anything else really for the holidays. So let's get gaudy about it right. You me yeah. I mean I mean video games are pretty good right now. I don't have to say. I mentioned harmonic..

"And all of my lectures for my Atlas shrugged course are their online Now I want people to go and see that What we're talking about are the founding principles of our country. How we were founded on the On the Judeo Christian tenants and principles of freedom and liberty and religious freedom. And how are our declaration of independence, you know, relies on and exposes that every single person is endowed by their creator with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And how the U. S constitution back set up by saying, Okay, And here's the structure of the government we need so that each individual person has is guaranteed that their liberties will be protected and they're unveiling Nable rights will be protected. So I want that exposed. But I can understand why Marxist professors want to hide in the shadows. Robin, if you decided that you're going to look around, you're very happy. I know at Marshall University in West Virginia, But if you decided you were gonna look around for other job opportunities, And you're invited for an interview from You name the university. "David. Ridpath is with us on sports byline. Usa He is the author of the book tainted. Glory Marshall University the NC Double A. And one man's fight for justice. You can certainly find that book that came out in two thousand twelve on the Internet and I will just tell you it's well worth your reading. Let's talk about people? In general alumni fans of a university. I mean you mentioned about the nineteen seventy plane crash. My grandparents lived in Parkersburg West. Virginia so I was very familiar with it and I would visit them. During the summer. My grandfather was one of those that donated to Marshall University and trying to bring back the football team so I know what it means to the state and everything but that thing can be a two way street at not. I mean you almost get caught in a vice between fans that want their team to win particularly if. You're not like a West Virginia but a school like Marshall University. All those come into play. Do they not in leading to the problems that you found it? Marshall Oh sure and somebody like me you know like your grandparents even though I got Huntington late. Yeah you know many years after the plane crash you are touched by the powerful moment in history. I mean I my my neighbor. His father was on that plane and it certainly was a great thing as the movie portrayed. That really helped the university. He'll but unfortunately Marshall University like so many others really started to manifest their identity as an institution oftentimes within their Athletic Program. Whether it's a basketball program or a football program and certainly Marshall University started to do that and when they started to have success even at the one AA level bringing in players like Randy Moss and get nothing against ranch personally but there was a reason why randy ended up at Marshall because of what had happened to him at Florida state and Notre Dame and and people started saying. Hey we can win. We're getting a lot of publicity leveraging you know the plane crash and looking at how we are now as a program where we're very competitive at the FCS level we want to move back to Division One. And you have a Lotta people. That are candidly run. I hate to say they're willing to win by any means necessary. Or you know. If you're not cheating you're not trying that old adage and you know it's not supposed to be that way and I was one of the people that was there to try to make sure we were working within the framework of the rules. However silly they may be and candidly. I didn't have a chance. Yeah I agree with you because I certainly did play by PLAY FOR STANFORD WHEN BILL. Walsh was there and of course. That's a program that is exemplary in the way they run their athletic programs there but I have seen the other programs at other universities and particularly smaller schools that want to become larger and when they have a taste of a victory and success it almost becomes an addiction. At least in my opinion Do you am I right about observation? Absolutely any and we have to. You have to be honest. I'm seventy miles away from from Ohio State University and the Difference Between Ohio State University and even the Marshall University and it'll have steak is immense and those schools will never ever closed that gap. But if you have some success whether it's boise could be George Mason and basketball Once they have that taste they want it more and they tend to be tended to happen. Excuse me were they want to do things where I would just say. Simply they're willing to cut corners to maintain that level of competitiveness because You Know Again. We like to win. It almost becomes as addictive as drug. Unfortunately David you talkin this book about the boosters. They're devised employment for members of the Marshall University football team. And then you could probably throw in not necessarily at that school but other schools in basketball as well. Tell me about the problem there at Marshall with that like virtually every school out there has many boosters again. Some are very benevolent altruistic where they want to help the institution but others to have a lot of money in with money comes power and with that power comes of certainly a license as they failed to do a lot of things and boosters liked to be associated for the most part. I know I'm generalizing but athletic boosters like to be associated with success and if that means well if I give this player some money and that means he or she may come to the school. I'm willing to do that and but oftentimes by donating money to the athletic program even if it's an above board donation it gives these boosters inordinate amount of power and also does re weakened the organizational structure within the athletic department and oftentimes even coaches are often puppets to the To the boosters I. I've seen examples all over the years. I can remember the athletic director at Uconn many years ago. Jeff hathaway essentially being run out of town because he didn't consult with a booster over. Who was going to hire a football coach? And I thank you know. That's the job you shouldn't have to Kowtow to somebody who's donated money in order for him to do your job. Essentially and and these boosters are also usually very successful and they just often think they can do your job better than you can and they metal they get their hands involved in Iran and and it causes for a very very bad mix. Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about because when I was doing basketball broadcasting for the WC. I know of one school. And I even witnessed it when we were getting ready to do a gain at that school of a booster who thought he was the general manager of the basketball team he would go into the locker room before and after a game and I just shook my head and that's where things go bad for College Sports. I mean you just know. It's going to corrupt the whole program if you're not willing to stand up to them and honestly I've seen Iran. I've seen strong athletic directors. Be Able to keep boosters in a box so to speak. I've always said even with a Nick Sabin or urban Meyer. You can bring up the biggest coaches Mike Sue Chefs administrator if you give them boundaries honestly for the most part they react to those boundaries but if you let the boosters runamuck and you and you operate in fear or you let the coaches run amok here then. It's usually got caused the catastrophe. And that's what happened at Marsa. We tried to be too big too fast and we tried to cut corners and eventually caught up with us. Tell me about your battle against the. Ncwa was interesting. Ron because when I was fired at Marshall in two thousand and one and I'm stubborn I decided not to take it lying down and and what the book covers largely as my lawsuit against Marshall University and some other individuals at the institution. But I also thought you know what I may only be one person. But I'M GONNA try to change the system and I know Don Quixote like and tilting against windmills. But I'll be honest with you by doing that. I found people like me out there Lots of people names like Linda Myers. Who was involved in Tennessee scandal years ago and I discovered the group which is named after Drake University provost at that university started the group and we are a group of concerned individuals over issues in college athletics primarily academic integrity. And I will tell you That gave me Impetus to keep fighting right the book. I was able to testify in front of Congress in two thousand four on NCWA issues. Of course I contacted by by great people like you in the media and working with a great group and other organizations like the National Players Association and the College Sports Research Institute. We have made some positive changes wrong. There are so many things I don't like but for instance the the fact that now athletes can transfer and coaches can't say what school they can go to or prevent that The the fact athletes are going to be able to soon profit off their name image likeness and honestly Ron if we bring a lot of these things out of the shadows and let these athletes. You know capitalize on their marketability is the best disinfectant. Right now we have a black market. Where boosters teeth right and he'll let's bring this stuff out of the shadows and so I feel I feel Optimistic that he's changes since they have happened. We've had more positive change in college athletics. The past ten years than the previous one hundred and there's a lot more things that we can do and the NC double a. As an organization. It's really more. The commissioners some athletic directors. Some people in the National Office That want to control the money. They don't want to give up their portion of the money they know athletes get more rights and You know academics are more of a focus. They won't have as much control as they like. And that's really where the fight is wrong but I think it's a fight worth fighting and You know anybody can join. I invite people to look at the great grip website. It's www dot the group one word dot ORG. You can see some of the things that we have going on and even right now. Ron.
