Trump and the GOP Campaign Against Reality

"The president and his allies decided on closing message for the final days of the campaign wine about social media pretend the pandemic is over for more on this. It's time for a closer look. There's a lot you can say about Donald Trump's inner circle and the leadership of the Modern Republican Party. But when you boil it down, it's basically just a collection of shy can't take Weirdos. Then people who collect ceramic pigs in sit by their windows writing down license plate numbers for no reason take for example House Minority Leader Kevin, McCarthy. You showed up to one of trump's rallies yesterday claimed republicans are going to take back the House McCarthy then belched up this I think English sentence about House Speaker Nancy, Pelosi a watch you watch Nancy Pelosi hand. And I promise you this. I won't thank her with it but I'll banged the into the socialism and yes to America. What No. I'll bang end to the socialism and yes to America, that sounds like a poorly translated leaflet dropped on Moscow during the Cold War why all these guys talk like rip off dollar store. Action. Figures made in. Eastern Europe. Your grandma will get you for Christmas. Oh Wow. It's a fuzz goodyear. Let me pull the string. The leaders of the hundred gop beer. Basically just a bunch of goofy old buds. I said it pods. Take a guy is still working at your hometown bowling alley thirty years after high school because he gets free disco fries blessed all the shoe sporadic and huff and that is a lot. For example Republicans held a hearing on big tech companies yesterday just to complain about supposed social media. Bias against conservatives which it's not thing. Now, there are progressives like Elizabeth Warren Tonight's guest, Bernie Sanders you really do want to break up big tech monopolies that have consolidated too much power but Republicans just WanNa. whine about mean tweets they don't like the best example of that came from Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson when he complained about an obviously satirical tweet this Dorsey. You talked about your house toward misinformation and then you will you will block misinformation if it's about against civic integrity election interference or voter suppression give you a tweet. There was put up on twitter says Senator Ron. Johnson is my neighbor in strangle our dog buttons right in front of my four year old son and three year old daughter the Keith refused to investigate. This is a complete line, but important to retreat and note that there are more my lies to come. How could that not be a violation voice oppression? Obviously, if people think I'm strangling my neighbors. They may not show the polls that would be worse oppression and another thing Mr Dorsey last night by doorbell rang late at night. So went to answer when I opened the door there was a flame in bag APU on the front step. So I tried to stamp out the fire but I got poo all over my shoes this clearly enact the voter suppression by the Neighborhood Teens because if I pooh-poohed on my shoes, I'll be too embarrassed to go vote. The bigger problem here is Ron Johnson thinks his constituents might actually believe that he strangled his neighbor's dog and Yeah. Okay and kind of see it. With said. Jack Dorsey looks like a dog serial killer. Like straight up a guy who together multiple dogs. in Ron Johnson's corn chowder brain joke tweet about a senators voter suppression. But invalidating mail in ballots and making people wait hours to vote isn't he's like a guy parks is BMW in a fire lane then loses when his targets tone Boris Suppression How am I supposed to get to the polling place now and then there was Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn who asked the CEO of Google if the company was still employing someone who criticized her is a blight Lemoyne one of your engineers still working with you. Senator familiar with his name is a name as an employee I'm not sure these employees. well, he has had very unconscious things to say about me and I was just wondering if you all still. Kept him working they are man Fox News is right. Canceled Culture is out of control. She sounds like she's asking to speak to the manager about a sales assistant at Costco is Madison still working here. She had very unkind things to say about me when I tried to sample the pizza rolls in the frozen I'll very hurtful things about how I'm not supposed to open the box. This is a fundamental reality of the modern GOP they're all donald trump. He complains about social media they complain about social media even though most of them don't have the tech savvy to handle the laundry room bulletin board coffee, table for sale what the hell does Obioma this is unfair.

"marsha blackburn" Discussed on The Michael Berry Show

"Senator Marsha Blackburn is guest. She has a new book out. We're going to talk about that in just a moment but first senator, the nomination of Amy. Coney Barrett, announced on Saturday afternoon your thoughts. are a wonderful nominee. I am thrilled that's a president selected her. She is going to make a fantastic justice because she has done such a credible job on the circuit bench and one of the things I think that is so impressive about Judge Barrett is whether you come from the left or the right. There are those who praise her in praise, her intellect, her curiosity, her commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law. As well as praising her strength of character talk about what a compassionate individual she is what a good parent she is. This is a good nominee I am going to be honored to as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee to work on her nomination through the hearing process and then to vote. To confirm her as she will take the Supreme Court. Bench. You've written a book that was that I guess is coming out now the mind of a conservative woman seeking the best for family and country It strikes me that she serves in that manner it's you could have written this about her not realizing should be our next nominee. some of us at the White House on Saturday for a judge there it's introduction and nomination from the president we're talking about that they said Marsha. We're living this in real time because, yes, the books. Is Very, intentional and I go after the bias in prejudice in preferencing that takes place against conservative women whether they're you're hearing from the media or they're getting it from the work place and we talk about how to respond to this I. Have Guidelines on how to have those tough conversations in how to defend yourself. And your values and how to explain what conservatism is. That's why I wrote A. Whole chapter on the history of conservatives I'm going back to Jerusalem and the twelve tribes of Israel and a good explanation and by the way New Gingrich who is one of our nation's wonderful historians did the word for the book I bet you know this is something that is How to it's a guide. It's a defense of conservatism for women who find that many times and you know they've become really concerned. I know you hear it on your your show from callers they feel like it they open their mouth in the workplace thing they get fired. If they, speak. Up. At. A PTA meeting, they might get shut down or their children might get shunned and they don't want to do anything to adversely impact their family, and of course, we know that the left is going to come after Judge Barrett they're already doing it. They're questioning her adopting two children from. Haiti. they're ridiculing curse or taking her children to church. Every Sunday is if that is something outside the norm and I guess from their actions, you would think that they think. That you have to be an atheist or a secularist to be able to hold a seat on the federal. Bench. You know it's so disturbing because we know that no matter who was nominated, they're going to attack them but to attack her for her personal life and her faith is something that it strikes me if people. Across this country whether they are a person of faith or not do not respond to this and say, as we did after cabinet. Oh, by the way If folks do not respond and say that is off limits and we will punish you at the ballot box for that so that you don't do that again that's the only way to fix this behavior because it's crass and it's awful. It's truly awful. Well you're. Right, it is awful but look what they're already doing to her but this is what's left does too conservative women. They ended it is women more often it's I think conservative women's threaten Democrats. You know I, think they do too and so many times. As I have worked with women around the country they would save Marcia flying does the media denigrate and ridicule and mock us but then you turn around and who are they Gora firing and putting on magazine covers and writing feature stories on websites about it's all the liberal women but they mock us because we're pro-life pro-family, pro religion, pro business, pro military, and a- It just they shut a conservative voice down and I do think you're exactly right. The left is very fearful of conservative women but our country needs. Conservative. Female voices now, more than ever because we know that when they do stand up and speak out, there are more people in this silent majority that is out here who agreed with them. Then agree with the left who is getting in your face and trying to shout you down Senator Marsha Blackburn is our guest. The book is the mind of a conservative woman seeking the best for family and country Senator Lindsey Graham announcing over the weekend that he expects the process to begin formally and publicly October twelfth you think it's realistic that we have a vote before election. Day. Oh absolutely I do for those of us on Senate. Judiciary Committee. We started immediately working on this and nomination we didn't wait to say okay. Exactly what day what time things of that nature we went right to work and we are going to hold our hearings we are going to move judge Barrett through this process, there will be four days of hearings. There is a day for opening statements day for outside groups one day with thirty minute questioning rounds, and the second day was twenty minute questioning rounds, and then we move the nominee to the floor Move them out of committee has that been moved onto the floor for a floor vote. And you expect that to happen that that timeline puts this this vote within just a few days of the election just before the war I think you're going to it around the twenty fifth twenty six somewhere in there I certainly hoped certainly hope. So Senator Marsha, Blackburn of the Great State of Tennessee the book is the mind of a conservative woman seeking the best for family and country come back and visit us. Lot. Thank you so much..

Senator Marsha Blackburn Speaks About The Corona virus And Election Security

"So much what a pivot to to a senator Marsha Blackburn who is joining us and she is a Republican from Tennessee and senator Blackburn thank you so much I know that you have not only been coping with this issue with regards to cook at nineteen but of course in your home state you have got a lot of people that are hurting and regrettably that are that are making funeral preparations at this hour and for that you have our deepest condolences well thank you for that and we appreciate the condolences and prayers and Tennessee is the volunteer state and I will tell you yesterday when I was out and out Wilson county Davidson county Putnam County which has been the hardest hit to see all the volunteers that showed up to help and volunteers in the churches that are coming around these families who are now planning funerals and in the midst of homes being destroyed in businesses being destroyed they are standing with these families and helping them get through a time of just deep deep grief and sorrow as they have lost homes and livelihoods and have lost these precious lives and are experiencing that grief senator Blackburn I was reading about to that there was a young couple the husband wife and a child all three of whom perished invests in that storm system those that tornado outbreak I mean you're talking about a generation of of a of a family that is just been eliminated and and how the how other members of family cope with that to me is just a it's a grief that I pray none of us ever know that **** well you're exactly right and to see these families and in the midst of this grief they're out searching for even a picture something from that family that they can use as they go through the process of remembering and the sadness fear the children that have died in this is the children that are hospitalized right now with injuries and the numbers that are hospitalized and have the injuries and Putnam County with eighteen deaths that are there it's just devastating and you look at this area of Baxter which is right outside of Cookeville Tennessee there in Putnam County is a community of about twelve hundred people and they've got a hundred and twenty five homes and businesses that no longer exist they're gone it is a field of rubble and it is just it is just devastating and there's they were using one building that was standing as kind of their command center there was a another market that was still standing one down the road was totally gone gas pumps market everything gets a sign of it anybody's ever walk to the this scene after a tornado it's it'll take your breath away the damage in Maine yeah I've been in war zones hurricanes tornadoes and I have never seen anything like this and are you satisfied help senator of Blackburn are you satisfied with the federal response thus far I have you been in contact with the trump White House I have been in touch with the president with the White House I was on the ground yesterday with the regional administrator for FEMA a team of which is the Tennessee emergency management association has a website set up it is T. N. dot gov forward slash team at T. E. M. A. I. individuals can go there and get information on how they access help but the governor in Tennessee is doing a good job we'll have the president on the ground tomorrow people are looking forward to having him there so that he can see firsthand so we're talking to sue us senator Marsha Blackburn and senator we saw also that your that the Tennessee governor had held a news conference this morning saying that Tennessee has the first confirmation of cold hit nineteen as well also from middle Tennessee talk about adding insult to injury as you guys are coping with the tornado damage you're also dealing with this covert nineteen outbreak that is correct in the state health department I had the confirmation on this case yesterday it is a forty four year old male he lives in Williamson County which is right outside of Nashville that Sir Brentwood Franklin area I he had attended an international conference which was held in the United States after he returned home he did not feel well so eventually as his system and his symptoms worsened he decided to go to take medical care and that is when he was tested and he is quarantined at home with his family now we we have seen some of the measures in places like China some of the European measures when it comes to this slowing the spread of cove it nineteen and and some other areas are taking pretty significant measures that we have not yet taken here in the United States one of which being the the UK government announcing that they're going to pay for people's sick leave from day one if they self quarantine image can you imagine every single taxpayer being on the hook for everybody's staying home from work in a two week or more self quarantine one one of the things I think said and we're receiving regular updates Dr sale team is doing a tremendous job N. ambassador Burke of leading the effort working with the vice president who is handling this they are very thoughtful they are getting information to us they are transferring information to your state and local health authorities and I certainly believe that the reason you have seen a slower spread here in the U. S. then you have in other countries it is because of the actions the president took immediately on restricting travel from China the restrictions have since placed on Italy and on South Korea analysts say also the actions that are being taken by many companies I know many companies are now placing our travel restrictions on individuals until we know more about the incubation time the covet nineteen and on the the symptoms how long the disease last things of that nature some people are are of the of the mindset senator Blackburn that the corona virus outbreak could have an effect on the the upcoming presidential election of the presidential nominating process though with with Bernie Sanders now out and he was or or at least seemingly mathematically out I don't wanna say these out loud but seemingly mathematically out it will I I would have thought he would have done better on super Tuesday as he is the man who is advocating for universal health care and that would be something that that some supporters of Bernie Sanders think would help when it comes to the outbreak of of the corona virus are are you surprised that or or are you concerned that the corona virus could have an effect on the process of electing our next president I I don't think that it will I think that knowing Tennesseans and I think many Americans are like them and they feel that our country three is when you look at the issues of security whether it is economic security national security border security and access to services like healthcare and making certain that we are addressing issues like the environment with clean air clean water that many of the stepsisters ministration have take has taken our steps in the right direction and they are pleased with that and people are going to go to the polls they are going to vote for Donald Trump it looks like it is said to senator Marsha Blackburn a Republican from Tennessee and I I wanted to kind of learn the last question here Fauria switch topics kind of a hard pivot here one of your colleague senator Marco Rubio left a video message on his Twitter page last night let me just play a portion of this you can see what he's advocating here and I'll get your reaction things

I managed to avoid it for two whole days, but the mid-term elections actually could have a big impact on the tech industry because the backlash against big tech is one of the only issues out there that is actually bipartisan and on top of that a couple of newly elected legislators have specifically made tech part of their agenda Beit net neutrality privacy regulations or even whether platforms are suppressing political voices. She says both sides of the aisle have been considering ways to regulate big tech in recent years. The problem is anytime you have a split congress. When you have Democrats running the house and Republicans running the Senate and a Republican in the White House. You're going to have a hard time getting anything done. So just imagine the amount of gridlock. We're about to head into. And then you see are Democrats really going to want to hand. Donald Trump a major piece of legislation terrain in the tech industry. When in so many ways they're trying to act as a check on his administration who are some of the incoming legislators that could at least try to have a hand in shaping policy. Well, there's one incoming legislator who will be familiar to the tech industry because she was formerly a member of the house that Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee. She is sort of infamous for her ties to the telecom industry, which has often put her at odds with the tech industry on issues, like network neutrality and privacy. We also have Josh Hawley who unseated Claire mccaskill he was the attorney general in Missouri. And he as attorney general launched investigations into Google Facebook Uber equifax and a lot of it had to do with data privacy issues. A lot of it had to do with antitrust issues. I think you could expect him to continue to bring those issues to congress. And then the big race. Everybody was watching was Ted CNN. Cruise beta a work race baiter work was heavily backed by members of the tech industry. Ted Cruz has sort of been a needle in the side of the tech industry. So I think you do see this growing coalition of anti tech voices on the right? You know, it's interesting because congress in particular, the Senate hasn't always been the most well informed bunch when it comes to tech. And I wonder with all of these kind of young up and coming candidates getting elected to the house. Do you think that there's a possibility that the conversations about technology could get more sophisticated? That's a really interesting question. So on the first hand, I'll say that. I think members of the Senate are learning. But I think there's something to that. I think there's something to having people in the Senate who really understand at a fundamental level technology. I've even heard from people, you know, as critical as they are of Marsha Blackburn. And as fearful as they are of her being in the Senate, you know, at least she is somebody who understands these issues, and so maybe that's a starting point. Is he lebowski is a senior writer for wired covering, politics and national affairs. She also said we shouldn't get our hopes up for net neutrality legislation coming out of congress anytime soon, but a federal privacy law has an outside chance. And now for some related links after twenty thousand employees walked out of Google last week to protest how the company has handled sexual misconduct claims yesterday, Google agreed to some of the demands those employees are making the big one, it's ending forced arbitration. So when people report sexual harassment, the company won't insist that such claims be handled internally and more importantly, it can't prevent victims from taking their claims to court. All right back to the midterms for a minute. I already threated about this. But I think it's worth repeating even if congress doesn't get a lot tech year after the midterms. It is definitely getting scienc- year ports. That's a thing. Of course, had a nice right up on all the scientists who are coming into congress who just can't help but make it smarter and actually politicos morning tech newsletter. Yesterday had a super useful rundown. On key staffers who will probably be handling changes to telecom and tech policy. Assuming anything makes it through our divided. Congress and remember last week when we talked to Salesforce, CEO, Mark Benny off about prophecy in San Francisco the tax on big businesses that will raise money to help the homeless. Well, it passed and the ringer has a really good right up on how it's really a referendum on big tech. Basically, San Francisco just can't wait to stick it to this industry. "By the election of of Marsha Blackburn. Just they can't bear to live in Tennessee anymore. So they're threatening to leave Sheryl Crow who as as as Doug pointed out earlier was was an advocate of using only one square of toilet paper for a while. Because of the the dire dangers of global warming that we should all just use one square of toilet paper to protect the environment to save the world, a Sheryl Crowe. Among those who apparently sees Marsha Blackburn is just so vile. Now, you might have to depart in fairness, she didn't she wasn't one who threatened to leave. But she did say that marshes campaign just by she didn't she was staying. No, she didn't. And by the way, it wouldn't really hurt my feelings of she left. Where's where's all Taylor swift? Well, here's her problem. Yes, she might want to leave Tennessee. But. The promise she makes so much money. She went to any other state Brady much like, you know, where she owns a twenty million dollar condo, New York state. She would have to pay New Orleans and millions of dollars of state and local income taxes. She didn't have to pay because she lives in Tennessee. The state where Marsha Blackburn and several others, including Steve Gill, stop to state income tax back in two thousand and these liberals celebrities, they they're always for supporting higher taxes except for them. I mean, they're like you said, he's not a New York where she could be paying higher taxes. She's not voluntarily sending in money to the state of Tennessee calculated based on what she would be paying a state income tax in New York. She's not voluntarily sending that in. So so they're not really when it comes to them that much in favor of higher taxes. They just want other people to pay to support the social programs. They think our report here. Here's another interesting thought on this whole we're gonna run away and hide we're going to leave the state or as we see so often these celebrities saying to leave the country, they're going to leave America. If if we if we continue to let, you know, Donald Trump and Republicans get elected to office. But if you've noticed Michael that that when they threatened to leave they always threatened that they're going to go to Canada or they're going to go to Europe somewhere. They're going to go to. Luxembourg? They're they're mainly Canada is is high on their list, the great white north and by the great white north. I'm not referring to blizzards and snow and ice the great white north of candidate. That is almost as white as New Hampshire and Vermont. It's it's white in terms of race. They all threatened to go to Canada and surround themselves with white people. You never hear these celebrities saying I'm gonna leave I'm going to Mexico, I'm going to Honduras, I'm going to Guatemala. I'm going to go to Africa. What do they have against Brown and black people when they want to leave America because they think we're racist. And and such vile despicable people they all want to go to Canada and live with white people. They don't want to go to Mexico or Central America and live with Brown people. They're not threatening to go to well countries that President Trump demeaned as s whole countries. They're not going to Africa. I think they should all go to California and raise the average IQ in both states that were. That would be helpful. You're seeing this massive outflow from California. Why why don't we why don't we send some people back or urge some people back to California where they can get their higher taxes there legalized recreational marijuana where they can live in San Francisco where feces and and drug needles are thrown about with reckless abandon on the sidewalks. And the stench is that of a third world and one of the reasons that they are called s whole countries is because they have the stench of people who are are doing in California on the sidewalk what they do in these third world countries. So so why aren't they headed there instead of threatening to go to places like Canada in any event you have that story, Dr dot com. Let me add a congratulations to one of our friends. The town of us out. Steve, sal. Was named a great great young man managed, Mark green successful campaign to become now. The Representative in congress from the seventh congressional district. Congressman elect Mark green is named Stephen is chief Assaf. Congratulations teams out your that's one of the things I think people don't recognize that you have election day, and you have three new members of congress Tim Burchett over Knoxville the second congressional district. You've got John rose in the sixth district who just got elected to fill the seat being vacated by Diane black, Marsha Blackburn. Of course, moving into the US Senate leaving congressional seat vacant that Mark green ran for all of these folks getting elected by by huge margins. So Marsha and these three new congressmen are now having to put together staff, and they actually take office in early January. You don't have a long period of time two months staff up to train up to kind of get the basics of of. Okay. Where are we going to have offices who's gonna fill this spot this role because day one you literally have to hit the ground running which is an advantage that Marsha Blackburn moving from a congressional seat has some understanding of how the house works. It's different in the Senate. But you've got a bigger staff you've got more. Territory to cover. But at least there's that hit the ground running capability for for a lot of these folks getting your temperature has an advantage. He was county mayor. So he has an understanding of how you put together a team. How you how you mobilize into these offices? But there's a real learning curve, and it is a steep learning curve for these members who who just got elected not only that..

"All right. Welcome back in Ferguson show. Nice to have you with us this afternoon. It's it's a big election day that we had yesterday. A lot of unanswered questions here locally. We still don't know who the mayor of Germantown it's going to be big elections for governor where the Republicans are going to be in charge in Tennessee. Thank goodness. Marsha blackburn. Had a very big win for the Senate. And that was in large part due to the fact that Donald Trump not once but twice came and really got out the vote for Marsha Blackburn, which was huge for her success yesterday. But overall, the Republicans lost the House Democrats are celebrating. Now, you can be depressed or you can look at the reality. We should have lost the house and the Senate based on history and statistics every other president in my lifetime is in a midterm election gotten their brains beat in usually losing the house and the Senate or if they've already were in the minority party in the house and Senate even losing more seats in the house and the Senate well that didn't happen last night. In fact, we'd picked up. Seats in the Senate. Yeah, we lost a house. Democrats have made it clear what they're gonna do. They're going to start impeachment. They're going to start subpoenaing. They're going to go after anyone that's connected to this president. So get ready for it. And the president knows that. And that's where we talked about earlier today at this press conference. Here's more of Donald Trump, and what he had to say earlier at the White House. Go ahead. Go ahead. Thank you. Mr President, Cody Dylan Sky News, you're a man who likes to win. But last night was not an absolute victory for you to be on. I'll be honest. I thought it was a I thought it was a very close to complete victory when you look at it from the standpoint of negotiation when you look at it from the standpoint of dealmaking because it's all about deal making again, if we had the majority, and we had one or two or three votes to play with we would never we would have been at a standstill. I really believe that we have a chance to get along very well with the Democrats. And if that's the case we can do a tremendous amount of legislation and get it approved by both parties. So I consider it to be a look, I want you. President Obama campaigned very hard in Georgia. Oprah winfrey. Campaigned very very hard all over the television. I said this is going to be tough. I only had me I didn't have anybody else. And.

"You missed the just a moment ago. The exciting roar that came from the crowd here as the one of the large screens that's on the Fox News channel put up the graphic saying that Marsha Blackburn had been projected as the winner of this Tennessee Senate race, and you put it all together very nicely there. Jared this is a racist Marsha Blackburn had trailed for a very long time. And it seemed that when President Trump came here just last weekend. It was the exclamation point on exactly what she needed to take this race filled. Gradison a popular democratic governor in this state for many years when he's. Served in that role. But it didn't seem that it was going to hold the as the Republican machine really put their emphasis on trying to keep the seat that Senator. Bob corker is giving up. So as we see it now. And the Fox News decision desk has projected that Marsha Blackburn. We'll take this Senate seat not timing as of yet as to when we may hear from congresswoman Blackburn, but we're stir that it will be somewhere in short order. And of course, we will bring that to you when she comes up and addressing supporters here in Franklin, Tennessee tonight. All right. Thanks so much Grenell. Scott again, it congresswoman Senator elect I should say, Marsha Blackburn campaign headquarters, Marsha Blackburn will succeed Republican Bob corker in the United States Senate in Tennessee that a Republican hold a another major race. Call a new projection to make. This one in West Virginia. The Fox News decision desk.

"Your election headquarters is your big comfy couch is that true. Mr davis. I've actually moved from the couch. I'm now back in the office the dolphins year, he seems a little chance, but. Okay. We'll see how it goes. Well, here's here's what we're showing right now, my friend Beto aka Robert Francis o Rourke holding a fifty one to forty seven percent lead over Senator Cruz. But with only forty six percent of the precincts reporting. You haven't been worried about that race at all all along. Have you Mark I have not in terms of cruise winning? I have had a residual worry that maybe amd up a little bit here. And that is of the notion of a cruise victory. That's only two or three or four points. That's the case tomorrow morning. It'll be almost as if better at one you take a look at the media narrative, and it'll be like, oh, look at this miracle. Look how close he finished. And in fairness, it will be a big story. But there's still a lot more to go. It's impossible to know exactly from where all these votes are coming. We generally know that a lot of big cities tend to come in early should've felt the air suck out of a conservative taxes when the very first smattering boats came out, and it looked like beta t to one lead. That has shriveled up that lead is now, it's it's it's a virtual it's approaching dead-heat status. But again, there's still a ton more votes to come. And I'll believe a better win when I see it. I think it will be a cruise victory always believe it's going to be a cruise victory. The notion of the double digit crews victory may be waning. So we shall see. But that's been the real that's been a big national focused Hollywood celebrities have poured their their resources their time their support. People are calling him. You told me this morning. They're calling him. The next Bobby Kennedy for crying out loud. And frankly, one thing about Beto, he's unapologetically leftist. I mean, he doesn't make any excuses for how far left he is. He when he's honestly talking about issues, which is rarely the success. His campaign has been to show him at happy pancake breakfast in Lubbock are surrounded by loving fans down in the valley. And that's what every politician does. I have nothing against him. And certainly nothing against the kind of campaign. That he is run. But when his particular issues, and his particular beliefs come up against the landscape of still conservative, Texas. It tends to look like not the kind of thing that can win. However, again, it's where we got a lot more votes to come. The big story may be that that he loses but only by a fraction remember that. Ted Cruz six years ago beat a gentleman named Paul Sadler by sixteen right? This very different race. It's very different opponent. And if Beto does finish that close that look for him to instantly become a favourite for the twenty twenty democratic presidential nomination. Because who else have we got some good news from Indiana ABC is saying that Republican Mike Braun is on track to defeat Senator Joe Donnelly in Indiana's US Senate race. That's big news. It is. And I have big hopes for for for for Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee's us up. Let me give you Marsha Blackburn number. You ready for some good news against only thirty seven percent reporting. However, she's up sixty one to thirty seven percent. It looks right now out of Tennessee like a good old fashioned shellacking and I can't wait for zone. I mean, I I don't think I'm listening to too much Hugh Hewitt. I don't think anyone can. But he is such a believer in Marsha Blackburn. And I absolutely believe that that could happen. I think Hairston cinema is a train wreck. The thing that you also has weighed in heavily on. And this is one I'll have to believe when I see it. And that is as John James in Michigan. That would be one of my favorite wins of the night if it happens, but it's Michigan. That's Don, Don Quixote, kind of a racist. And it he's such an inspirational guy, he's a warrior, literally a war hero. I mean, and and and Michigan loves you. I mean, if not this round, we're not going to see the last of John James, Mark. But this is an interesting thing is once all the dust is settled from tonight maybe tomorrow, or maybe a few weeks from now some of these races, one of the interesting continuing storylines is what does tonight do for the political future of some still pretty young people like Beto O'Rourke like like, John James? So like some of the challenges that we've had like like. Like say well. Cory booker. Anything all of the democrat young guns. Yeah. Who about room there was so much buzz not long ago? Didn't they shoot themselves in the foot during the cabinet all hearing, Cory Booker, Kamala, Harris, they made complete clowns of themselves. So you know, we're we're gonna see what happens to just like an Andrew gillum. Let's say he loses. I think there's still a bright future. Air beta loses. They're certainly a bright future. Well, no there probably is. And the thing about NATO is if he lose if he loses it won't be because he's a bad guy or his us were battery did a bad job in campaigning. You're on the debates it'll be because it's Texas Texas because it doesn't fit with Texas values are Texas voters. And of course, here in the in the northeast, you've got Alexandria Cortes, a Cossio. I'm not going to I hate to step on toes. Yeah. Exactly going to accuse her being a Rhode scholar anytime soon. That's right. And the converse of the beta thing in Texas. Maybe John James in Michigan. There's nothing the matter with them African American war hero Detroit guy fan. But Michigan simply. The dog would would enter the picture. Come on the dog. Mark come on. I love it. Tomorrow morning on six sixty a and the answer answered about seven thirty five. Thank you, my friend. How I love you you keep fighting the good fight. Great. Check out. Check it a little lighter with us. Okay..

"Have you been hearing sort of similar depths of feeling or or or how voters are conceiving of this midterm election in in Tennessee absoulutely, and we can see it with the ads the attack ads related to dis Senate race, we have Marsha Blackburn or groups that are affiliated to Marsha Blackburn. You know, accusing governor Bredesen's of shielding a top aide when he was covering her from sexual harassment saying that he's shredded the sexual harassment notes. You know, the investigation that he's traded them to protect these aid. Brennan has said that he did it to protect the victim. And then we have the reticent campaigner groups affiliated with a British and campaign calling Marsha Blackburn. So so we can see it down here. And one of the things that Tim was talking about he was talking about immigration Blackburn, you know, has used similar nine cents President Trump. She you know, lately with Kevin of migrants approaching the US she has characterized an invading force. And that that's something similar to what President Trump has been calling here calling the group of migrants, even though there is no proof of the there's no proof that they're criminals. Right. So so we can see how both of them are talking to each other with truth or with lies, you know, they're trying to. Referendum on truth. Tim is saying I think tennesseans here can see that as well. Quick question. Here a Ron Hinson in Arizona told us a little earlier in the show that that it's so close near Zona. They might not have a result. A final result by the end of the day Tuesday. Is it that close in Tennessee? Also, or or do you think that one of them will out a pretty clear win by the end of the day? Well, I can tell you my newsroom expects results this same night, the, but I I mean, we we're not sure yet depends to the counties, of course, when we think it's going to be very close. We do think that early voting numbers of that the counties are going to start releasing them around seven seven thirty at night on election day, those early voting numbers may be indicative of who's going to be the winner in the Grenon Toyo race because the racist not as close. But in terms of the US Senate race, we're not sure that those numbers are going to clearly indicate who's going to be the winner. Right. Well, tina's built Sean speaking to us from Nashville politics reporter for Nashville public radio. Thank you so much there, Hugh. Thank you. Lisa data did. Excuse me. Lisa. Lisa. I talked to fast I got to slow down a little bit here. But there's a lot at stake. So what are you here in serious reporting from from Tennessee, so much the fact that it really we have yet. I mean, it's kind of the same story as we heard from Arizona as well where it it is a race. That is coming down to the momentum and dynamics in this final day. And now you have conservative Marsha Blackburn, kind of going all in with the president. And we're going to find out in the next day. If that pays off for her not it's interesting that race in Tennessee. I also liked to watch because it's a reverse gender split. We talk so much about female voters. But what's happening? There is the democrat male contender. Phil Bredesen's is winning with women, Marsha Blackburn. The female Republican is winning with men so often we think women vote for women actually, it is more about party in a way when you look at gender splits. And right now looks like Marsha Blackburn is gaining more with women than Phil Bredesen's gaining with men interesting. So we've got five minutes left here. Let's see how many calls we can roll through K Lisa's. Let's go to any who's calling from Tucson Arizona, Freddie. You're on the air. Hey, thanks for taking the call. Hey, I wanted to talk about the candidate. Nick sally. I'm a retired aviation specialist. Mc Sally age. I grew citing a hard to do a conventional job all of my default setting. I'm independent I have been for decades. I vote for both parties based on who. I really think is gonna solve problems. I can't vote for MC Sally. Even though all of my default settings personally morally want to vote for her because she won't show up for any interviews that any media wants.

"Of course, here's a surprise. Senator flake a Senator corker. They're not going to support him. There's a surprise. So to the never Trumpers sour grapes. Are who are out there leaving they can do whatever they want. They don't care about getting reelected. They're not running for election. So they're going to do what hurts President Trump to what they do. Oh, they don't. They don't care about you think they care about life. They care about abortion. You think they care about conservative values? Really is that what you think here's what I'd like to do. Here's what I love to do. I think we're going to do there. Somebody needs to propose this who has the guts in the Senate or the congress to propose a Bill. I think everybody running for public office. Everybody needs to be vetted to exactly what they did in high school everything they did in high school. And then that should be used as a yardstick to measure their conduct for the rest of their life. You think that's fair? Right. I mean, if we can do that with judge cavenaugh and others we've done that with let's do that. We don't do that on the left. They only do that on the right? But I mean, I mean because I'm sure there's nobody out there that I'm talking to who has done something really stupid in highschool there hasn't matured a little bit from that. Right. You're all still doing those really stupid things. Right. Because you were as mature and had as much wherewithal about the world even as much wherewithal about values as you do now. Right. I'm sure that's the case. I mean, I think once you get to high school. That's it right. You don't mature anymore? You don't be gained to develop your character anymore. That's it the character. You have then is it? You don't get better. As a matter of fact, let me take it one step further all of you partner with this ministry. You gotta be out of your mind. To be trusting. A center like I was and still am for that matter. Not like I was praise God. I mean, shouldn't you judge me by the mistakes that I've made in the past? Shouldn't you assume that that is my character? Now, I think that ought to be a yardstick for every member of the Senate, and every member of the house, and and those that don't live up to that marvelous character that they had in high school or we find out that that character they had in high school wasn't so good. They need to be removed. Right. Do you think that's fair? I think that's what we ought to do. I really do. I think that's what we should do. So somebody propose a Bill. Let's write our congressmen or senators and tell them, hey, we we want you to be the first to adopt this Bill, then he just give you an example of something. I happen to like, Marsha Blackburn. In tennessee. You wanted for center. I really do. She's great. She's one of the good people there. Marsha Blackburn as she was beginning to run for Senate said she was going to find out every name. That was on the list for you. Remember this? I don't forget this stuff. That was on the list taxpayer dollars were used for hush money to all the improprieties of senators and congressmen. She was gonna find the names out and how much money it was of all those senators and congressmen that did that. I loved her for saying it, I don't like her so much for not doing it. Here's a set a word about it has you have you heard has anybody out there heard a word about that since it was exposed anybody. Anybody? Why I mean, this was tens of millions of dollars. Why because they're probably involves half are. Legislative body. That's why. But it's gone. It's gone. Nobody's gonna hit. Never. It was never gonna come up. Again. We're never going to hear anything about it. How 'bout? Cut you some slack. How 'bout we don't go back to high school? We just go to that list. How are we just take that list? Let's take that list and fire. Everybody that paid the hush money on the list. How about we just do that? These guys these stinking hypocrites that are dying for some kind of. Anything they can do anything. They can do to stop this president's agenda. Anything they need to be able to legislate from the supreme court bench period. They know that they're progressive radical agenda is crushed if the supreme court is going to do something so ridiculous as follow. What is the letter of the law? And what is according to the constitution and not do any legislation from the bench. They know they're doomed. They know they're doing. Make no mistake about it. Then you guys like corker and flake. They don't care about that. Either day just care. The Trump doesn't get what he wants. So all they care about. They don't care about what they're people want. Because there are people aren't going to be there. People in January. Why should they serve a complete term just because they got him voted to a complete term. Why should they honor the people's wishes just because the people of their districts hire them, why should they follow wishes? They're gonna leave. The Wall Street Journal says indicates I'm not I'm not quoting I'm paraphrasing here since I don't have the quote front of me. Talk of entitlement reform takes over as midterms near

"There were not politically, correct. But they've done what needed to be done in order to unleash the animal spirits. Alan greenspan's. Alan Greenspan, Stephanie. It's pretty tough to argue with him. Are you sure he said he loves the Trump tax cuts or you gotta sit there constructive. Now. He loved he loved it. They were politically incorrect. Now, what he doesn't love is that we haven't done entitlement reform to accompany them. I wanna you know, it's coming to that. But he loves the Trump tax cuts one of the things about entitlement reform that we need is it surprises me the young people. Don't get more engaged on the entitlement reform ya you know, they sort of latch onto issues that are very very popular in the news. Entitlement reform or something I think people should really care about. Listen, the issue with the tax cut is it's a clear positive for corporate America. The tax code as it was far too complicated. But the amount of taxes that they cut you could ask Jamie Dimon. He will say, listen, I'm glad we got the tax cut. We didn't need it to be as much as it is because we are facing a massive deficit, and as far as the tax cut goes we're seeing corporations do so well two weeks ago. I the business council summit there hasn't been a hundred fortune five hundred there tickled pink, and they're saying they're spending there investing hiring and even without the tax cuts. Deregulation has been a huge positive for corporate America because remember in the Obama administration. It was not a pro business administration. And even if companies weren't faced with new taxes, the threat of regulations of threat more could be coming down the pike was preventing companies from spending. You're definitely seeing corporate America in a very good place book at the stock market one of the reasons the stock market is doing so. Well, suddenly. Corporations have twice as much cash on the books. So it is a positive obviously have a very tight labor market time to see wages push up more than they have this far. So Stephanie role year in the second bluest bubble in America. I always think that silicon valley's a bluer bubble the Manhattan, but I just had Marsha Blackburn on she's had a nineteen point swing in her direction over two weeks, Heidi Heitkamp has fallen apart. And she did a pratfall releasing the name of abuse survivors against their will yesterday that is blowing up. You've got mic. Sally surging ahead of cinema. Do you sense that the blue tide is a thing of the past? And that in fact, we're looking at it read time, I've talked about this a lot. I've never seen a massive Blue Wave coming thing that distresses me isn't are we going massive, bluer massive read the thing that distresses me is the hollowing out of the center on both sides. That is what I think is the most concerning and I think we're seeing it in both parties. Did you read David Brooks piece yesterday about the eight percent on the left? China today. Oh, are you really? Because that is that's the most interesting thing. But the noise comes from those two groups, that's the note, and by the way, our cable channels both left and right that noise. I don't know how we're ever going to break out of this you you are one hundred percent, correct. On a us. An example for you on Monday when I woke up I wasn't on TV. I heard what not the media thought of what Hillary Clinton said on Monday on Sunday about her husband, and Monica Lewinsky. Okay, saying it was not an abusive power. So I said via Twitter take something clear what the president of the United States has a sexual encounter with an intern. It doesn't matter how she behaved, blah, blah, blah. That's an abusive pallet. I'm not saying I'm not saying it's a soft. It is an abuse of power. When I tell you, Hugh, I got a nihil lead on Twitter, and I should hold on a second. Because of course, I've wanted what about Trump what about companies both things can be true abuse. Power is not unique to one industry wants sport, one one nation or one political party. But the tribalism we are seeing the absolute forgiveness of one side and an assault of another. Stop. It's unreasonable. It is going to be very difficult to break away from the profit motive of super serving the six in the eight percent. But I'm glad you're doing the David. That's what that's why I watched up and he going do the David Brooks. Brooks column is the smartest thing I've read in ages. Hey, man payments. Definitely real good to talk to you s rule on Twitter American, of course on MSNBC. Don't go anywhere. I'm coming right back America time to keep talking about these midterms. The red tide is coming everything

"Kate? Yes. Do you know who Marsha Blackburn is the Tennessee Republican Senator who currently holds the see? What else do you know about Marsha Blackburn? I don't really know that much about her to be honest other than I probably disagree with her politics based on the fact that she's a Republican. I remember Marsha Blackburn from the beginning of the tea party movement. It's funny there are a lot of prominent conservative women in particular who I think that if we're the Vanguards of that movement at various points, Nikki Haley sort of Nikki Haley. I think the first really proto tea party figures here Palin. Right? And then it becomes Michelle Bachmann. So Bachmann is the she's wild. Right. And then Marsha Blackburn is that of the other one. She sort of like the third wheel who of. Right? Because I knew she existed, but she's not very like nothing about her stuck out in my memory. What she's less talented genyk in dynamic, the Michelle Bachmann. God. But she still one of those. She's one of those crucial like Glenn, Beck era, political success stories, tea party movement. And so you know, she'd been in congress. And so when his two thousand two thousand four, but she really made a name first off during the tea party movement, and she's currently a congresswoman from Tennessee. So Marsha Blackburn is the Republican nominee to replace Bob corker who's also Republican in the Senate. Now she's running against Phil Bredesen's who's the former mayor of Nashville, the former governor of Tennessee. He's the democrat, and I think a lot of people just didn't really care about this race. Frankly, it's weird. This is a midterm year where there are just so many racist to keep track of that are competitive and dynamic and have really way more dynamic figures than Marsha Blackburn. And Phil Bredesen's, but that changed Sunday night because Sunday night Taylor, swift Nashville, darling, popstar Taylor, swift posted, an Instagram caption where I, it's very long and scream caption where she's basically encouraging people to vote in Tennessee and she's making an endorsement, which is the thing that Taylor swift very much was not doing with her platform and her pop stardom until Sunday. And she wrote this long caption saying, you know, I normally don't do this. Don't talk about politics, but I really want to endorse these two Democrats in this Tennessee race, and then she gets. She basically is, you know, it's a pretty positive message about fo- Bredesen's, but then you get to the halfway Margaret, a caption. And she really leans into the idea that really she's encouraging people to vote against Marsha Blackburn Ann. And there's this line in the caption. That's just skiing when she says Marsha Blackburn voting record appalls and terrifies me. And she's talking about Marsha, Blackburn, conservative, voting record on gay rights and women's rights in congress. And so suddenly. Suddenly, this is like one of the important races in the American political landscape, their stories already, crediting Taylor's with with a spike in voter registrations. Yeah, I mean, I think like vote dot org dead way. Yeah, it's crazy. Like, did you register to vote as Already registered. registered. Yeah. I mean, it seems to have really made an impact, which is great. It's an interesting thing because it's such a sharp contrast with how she behaved up until this point..

"Are ugly dangerous. Ugly and dangerous. Seeing him not ugly, but dangerous is this Taylor swift story. Not ugly. Ugly. Wait, do you think tell us? What does nationally we talking about a little too thin for me? But, but that's that's just. A lack curvaceous? What can I say? Ladies Taylor, swift the other day took to Instagram where she has a hundred and twelve million followers and said how she's going to be participating in the elections there in Tennessee where she lives about she's not gonna vote for Marsha Blackman. Not voting for Marsha Blackburn. Now her overall. Sentiment. There of you gotta get out there and vote has gotten over one hundred thousand people to register to vote the importance of understanding, culture and society. Politics is downstream of culture, and in this culture. A you realize the kind of power. People like like Taylor swift told tremendous amount. And it's why every time we, you know seed the culture don't pay attempt to the culture don't think the culture has value. Oh, I don't watch the Grammys are I'm not watching that movie your I'm not doing we're we're losing. We're losing. Let me tell you. If I see one more video series from a conservative where they've got an American flag in the background room. My head through the wall. Yet, we've seen that it doesn't make you cool or hip. There's nothing wrong with loving America. I happen to be a huge fan. There's something very wrong with thinking, content and culture is about flag-waving. Stop Gobi interesting for the love of the Lord actually people want. They want interesting. They want you to create. Go do that in the same way. We tell these left the artists to shut up and sing maybe you should like, I don't know do something instead of just flag-waving. Taylor swift hundred twelve million followers on on Instagram, and she tells her people that you know, to go out there and vote, but she's not running for Marsha Blackburn. 'cause Marsha Blackburn doesn't then gay people should be served in a restaurant. It's not with Marsha Blackburn, Republican Tennessee, thanks. And the minute you read that you realize my gosh. Taylor swift when full talking points as opposed to fact, if you want to make the argument that Marsha Blackburn or any conservative believes that you should not be forced against to act against your religious principles for same sex wedding cake in terms of just the decorating of the cake, which is where these cases seem to come down to. Well, you can if you want to believe that's wrong. Go ahead. But you gotta be able to spell that out. Not talking about a tweet a little bit of character. You just trying to get a quick thought. Oh, no. Because if you are to leave that just as it is Marsha Blackburn doesn't think that gay people? Should be you know, gay people shouldn't be served in restaurants. Well, that's that's that's not right. As a matter of fact, that's really insulting. That's a terrible thing to do to Marsha Blackburn..

"About ROY. Of course, here's a surprise. Senator flake a Senator corker. They're not going to support him. There's a surprise. So two of the never Trumpers sour grapes are who are out there leaving they can do whatever they want. They don't care about getting reelected. They're not running for election. So they're going to do what hurts President Trump? What they do. Oh, they don't. They don't care about you think they care about life. They care about abortion. You think they care about conservative values? Really is that what you think here's what I'd like to do. Here's what I love to do. I think we're going to do this somebody needs to propose this who has the guts in the Senate or the congress to propose a Bill. I think everybody running for public office. Everybody needs to be vetted to exactly what they did in high school everything they did in high school, and then that should be used as a yardstick to measure their conduct for the rest of their life. You think that's fair? Right. I mean, if we can do that with judge cavenaugh and others we've done that with let's do that. We don't do that on the left. They only do that on the right? But I mean, I mean because I'm sure there's nobody out there that I'm talking to who has done something really stupid in high school. There hasn't matured a little bit from that. Right. You're all still doing those really stupid things. Right. Because you were as mature and had as much wherewithal about the world even as much wherewithal about values as you do now, right? I'm not sure that's the case. I mean, I think once you get to high school. That's it. Right. You don't mature anymore? You don't be gin to develop your character anymore. That's it the character. You have then is it you don't get better. As a matter of fact, let me take it one step further all of you will partner with this ministry. Let's write our congressmen or senators and tell them, hey, we want you to be the first to adopt. This bill. Let me just give me an example something. I happen to like, Marsha Blackburn. In Tennessee running for Senate. I really do. I think she's great. He's one of the good people there. Marsha Blackburn as she was beginning to run for Senate said she was going to find out every name. That was on the list for you. Remember this? I don't forget this stuff. That was on the list that taxpayer dollars were used for hush money to all the improprieties of senators and congressmen. And she was gonna find the names out and how much money it was of all the senators and congressmen that did that. I loved her for saying it, I don't like her so much for not doing it. Here's a said a word about it has you have you heard has anybody out there heard a word about that since it was exposed anybody. Anybody? Why I mean, this was tens of millions of dollars. Why because of probably involves half are, you know, legislative body. That's why. But it's gone. It's gone. Nobody's gonna hit never never gonna come up. Again. We're never going to hear anything about it. How 'bout? Cut you some slack. How 'bout we don't go back to high school? We just go to that list. How do we just take that list? Let's take that list and fire everybody paid the hush money on the list. How about we just do that? These guys these stinking hypocrites that are dying for some kind of anything. They can do anything. They can do to stop this president's agenda. Anything they need to be able to legislate from the supreme court bench period. They know that they're progressive radical agenda is crouched if the supreme court is going to do something so ridiculous as follow. What is the letter of the law? And what is according to the constitution and not do any legislation from the bench. They know they're doomed. They know they're doing. Make no mistake about it. Then you have guys corker and flake. They don't care about that either. They just care. The Trump doesn't get what he wants all they care about. They don't care about what they're people want. Because there are people aren't going to be there. People in January. Why should they serve a complete term just because they got him voted to a complete term. Why should they honor the people's wishes just because the people of their districts hire them, why should they follow the wishes? They're gonna leave. They this is this is a politicians at its best form. They don't care a lick. They don't care a lick about anything that anybody thinks until two months before their next election. "Thank you yeah i think it goes to a tip o'neill said all politics is local that's not true all politics is personal and this is really a case in point i mean number one as mayor of chattanooga bob corker had a great relationship with phil bredesen's and so he's even said i have a good personal relationship with the governor former governor and marsha blackburn boxed bob corker out of maybe make it come back running so there's some so it's it's personal and and and i understand that i mean this very difficult thing he's stepping forward and saying she's going to cast the right vote i'm for the nominee that's all you're going to get outta me because on the personal side i'm just not there and he did he sort of laid it out there i don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with that and i think it's i think i understand it and you know good for about you're right it's very human yeah it's not very political but he's not running for anything but but but i have to be polices this is why republicans in congress well they're very concerned in the senate because they felt like the senate was in good shape now they're actually not so sure and the reason why we're talking about this is tennessee senator corker seat could be pivotal that's right and and the i think a lot of republicans are sort of almost conceding that the house is going to be very very difficult to hold them and it depends we're still several months out but the senate was more hopeful and i can tell you the last thing that republicans want is to have it not just divided congress but both houses of congress in the hands of the democrats.
