"There. It's absolutely free, delivered directly to you every single Friday during the football season. Take the two minutes, sign up, subscribe, and reap the benefits where it matters most at the betting window. All right, pain from games that lacked a little bit of intrigue that were worth discussing to, I think, what could be defined as one of the marquee matchups of the entire weekend. Sunday Night football between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Baltimore Ravens, a field goal favorite, a number trending towards three and a half. We haven't gotten there yet other than a rogue three and a half or two. Total on the game. 48 and a half. And the Baltimore Ravens. Now, have lost 5 straight games at home. I know Lamar Jackson hasn't been the starting quarterback in all of those matchups. But more importantly, they've blown back to back 17 point leads in home games. The first team to blow 17 point leads and back to back home games since the 2011 Minnesota Vikings. Ironically enough, the ravens had been absolute nails in those spots before they'd won 75 straight when they were previously in that position. They've now lost 7 straight games decided by one score. It's the longest active streak in the National Football League since buffalo beat them last weekend ending their longer streak. And when you look at the way this series went last year, the bangles absolutely dismantled the ravens and Joe burrow came out and said we'd had a good season up to that point, but winning at Baltimore the way we did kind of prove to ourselves that we were who we thought we were. Joe burrow 941 yards passing versus the ravens most by any quarterback versus any team in a season. And NFL history became the first player with 400 yard passing games versus single team in a season all time. It is worth noting that Marcus Peters was out all season. Marlon Humphrey also missed the second meeting, but they were the first team a two 20 point wins versus the ravens in a season, a plus 44 score differential. And Jamar chase and tea Higgins absolutely feasted in those matchups. What can Baltimore do differently here to force Cincinnati to be more methodical eliminate the chunk plays that have really plagued the Raven's defense, not just against the bangles, but against most elite passing attacks they face so far this season and even a good portion of last. Talent matters. Players matter. But of all the games on the board and I understand it's Sunday Night football. This is very much about X's and O's. Cincinnati new coming into the season, they would see more to high shell looks. Joe burrow and the Bengals offense still haven't figured out how to play that style of defense yet. They said they spent the entire off season trying to figure out how to combat that because they expected it to come. But right now, bro has massive splits against two high shell compared to new non two high shell looks. If you look at his numbers, borough is 9th best in EPA per drop back against non too high looks. He's the 7th worst against two high shell looks. And if you kind of think about this Raven's defense, they made some changes this off season to be more multiple and scheme and not just this downhill, aggressive blitz unit. Through four weeks, the ravens have used two high shell at the 18th highest rate. They've been the 9th best in terms of EPA per pass allowed. When they use that coverage the first three quarters. And I think what you're going to see ultimately is that coverage is going to be employed far more this game. They should actually want to live in it. If you go back to some of the priors this season, both the Steelers and cowboys really jacked up their usage of this too high shell. This is the defense that team started implementing last season to combat the Kansas City Chiefs offense. And now they're doing it to really hinder the Cincinnati Bengals. You're looking at both the Steelers and cowboys who jacked up their usage. They beat the Bengals. Miami didn't use it often enough and got beat and I understand that's not how defensive scheme or style is based. Traditionally, they hadn't been good using it, but if you looked at those splits, when the dolphins did use it, the Bengals did virtually nothing. The jets used it more than Miami did. It's just not a good defense. When you go back to last season, you referenced this a little bit. But that week 16 matchup was really interesting because the ravens jacked up their usage. So the first time these teams played last year, the ravens used the two high shell look 16% of the time. Got absolutely torched, I believe Marlon Humphrey was absolutely crushed in that game. You go to the second matchup though. The ravens upped their usage of two high shell, 44% of the time. So they knew what they had to run defensively. But you think about the injuries that we've talked about in that secondary during our previous. The ravens just didn't have the horses to execute it because they were decimated with those injuries in the secondary. I truly believe we can talk about how good Jamar chase is and all the yards per route run and we can talk about the offensive line and Joe burrow struggling a little bit. This to me is all about how the ravens elect to come out defensively. You have to come out and too high shell and force the bangles to prove to you that they can beat it. And I understand the Bengals have a little bit more of some extended rest and prep. This is probably something they focused on, but it's something they focused on all off season because they knew it was coming as well. And still haven't been able to figure out how to execute against it. To me, that's what this is about. If the ravens come out and the right scheme, I think they're going to have some success here defensively. Well, you mentioned the Bengals knowing they were going to be faced with this and the ravens having to adjust for what was perceived to be their biggest division rival on paper.

"About to cry. You sound so sad. Thanks so upset by the shocking. It doesn't usually get that upset about defenses. A reminder. I know. Shocking to see how bad they are at it now, man. A reminder, two guys that we martindell no longer there. I mean, you wonder if some of that factors in? Dan, in this specific matchup though, you think about some of the struggles that the ravens defensively. You think it's a game that Ja'Marr chase really gets going finally? It can. It's really the game whoever is opposite Marlon Humphrey. I still believe that Marlon Humphrey is an elite cover corner in this league. And while Jamar is phenomenal, I would really be if I'm Joe burrow looking against Marcus Peters. Marcus is incredibly talented, but even if you watch that second half of last week, Josh Allen was doing a good job of working to his side and going off of Marcus. Hey, Marcus, if you're too really shallow on stuff, I'm putting the ball over your head on a couple of the corners. If you fall back, I'll put it underneath. So Marlin is still a very viable cover corner, but it's not even that they have to determine because they have Campbell defensively that they do a nice job in some of their pressures of kind of using him as a screener to the quarterback. Are you going to be a pressure based defense? Are you going to be a front four base to defense? Are you going to be a fire zone based defense right now? There seems to be that some guys run man pressure, some guys are running zone pressure. So one of those receivers, for Cincinnati, is going to have a very favorable matchup when Baltimore decides to blitz defensively. And the thing for Joe in different from last year when Cincinnati saw Baltimore and they did pressure them. It was and you guys have heard me say this. You know, get the ball out and protect yourself. Right now it's, let's go hurt this defense. And until Baltimore gets all 11 guys in the same page when they do it, it could start ugly for them against Cincinnati's offense. Time for one more thing before we go, guys. Everyone trying to figure out where OBJ is going to end up. This is what his former teammate von Miller had to say. She'll go around and see the league and get the love. He's still on Super Bowl tour. You know, he's, you know, he's done just about everything in this league. You want to go around and you want to get the love, but just me personally, just the way I like to think. I think when it's time to, you know, start, you know, chopping the block and I think when it's time to get down to business, like, we already know where he gonna be at, we know. Just in my eyes, I think I know where he's gonna be. I'm trying to decipher that. A key, you know OBJ a little bit. What is von Miller talking about there? Where's it gonna be? Right where you see the sunshine behind me. You see this, you see what this looks like. Is that real? You're not trading this for that. No, you're not. I get it. You're not going back to Cleveland. You're not going to Green Bay to get a meat coat. You're not going to buffalo right there. Right here. There you go. One of the rims. As you should. We'll keep an eye on that. They need a big time, right? We'll see you tomorrow. Thanks for being with us.

"I lay all of that out to ask, honestly, will any of that matter if buffalo is down 37 players like the injury report suggested on Wednesday and Thursday? It's just another game that you just have to really keep your eyes peeled to that injury reports who plays who doesn't, but we've had some back and forth with this game. The look ahead, I believe, was four. We reopened three and a half, some early Baltimore money came in, and then it looked like some guys were practicing for buffalo and that went from three back to three and a half, and then yesterday's injury report didn't look great. So now we're back at three. That's really been the opposite of the market in this game. I kid you not. I read an article from buffalo and I think they listed 35 players or what felt like it. In some capacity that were either out, questionable, limited. We talk about clean injury reports and one of the best attributes and NFL player can have is availability. It may not be the case for buffalo. But sorry, I digress. I just kind of wanted to lay it out. It's led to an it's led to an employment for a very well respected Florida state cornerback. I'm looking at this game. And when I'm looking buffalo's offense, we kind of talked about this potential for negative changes to their offense without Brian dabel. And I think we assumed the pass rate would decline. We were wrong. That has not changed at all. In fact, the pass rates have increased. Buffalo still first and pass rate over expectation through three weeks. The problem has been the way buffalo's passing. Josh Allen has the 6th lowest intended air yards per pass out of 33 qualifying quarterbacks. And with that, the explosiveness of the bills offense is pretty much dwindled, right? They're 19th and explosive playwright. I get Ken Dorsey, right? I don't know, maybe he's jealous of the guys arm. He didn't really have a hose. I just don't understand what they're doing. It doesn't make any sense to me offensively. Because of these short passes and the lack of explosiveness, something I think we identified watching the rams game. The bills early down offense hasn't been great. 23rd in first down schedule just efficiency, 12th and second down. The bills are really surviving right now. Because of everything that Josh Allen is doing, he's playing out of his mind. And it's allowed the bills to be second in late down efficiency, where Allen is just thriving on third downs and get this number right now. Allen's helped the bills offense, pick up a first down or score touchdown on 66% of third downs. The league average is 34%. This is going to be this is going to regress. And if it does, the bills offense likely sees a little bit more regression than I think even what people are anticipating. The offensive line to your point is beat up a little bit. You had starting center Mitch Morse missed last week with an elbow injury. He's been limited through this portion of the week in practice. You had starting right guard Ryan Bates in the concussion protocol, left tackled Dion Dawkins as ill, Spencer Brown dealt with heat exhaustion last week. Roger safford's 34 and he requires rest days. I think most of these guys play this week. But every single lineman is dealing with something at this point and not nearly a 100%. You go back to the matchup as well. And the bills throwing short more often as we indicated compared to the day ball years. Josh Allen's only thrown 12% of passes 15 plus yards this season. It's the fourth highest rate of passes less than 15 yards. In the ravens defense hasn't been perfect, guys are a little bit banged up. They're starting to get healthier. Especially in the secondary. But the ravens defense right now 8th in short pass efficiency defense. And again, you're getting Marlon Humphrey and you're getting Marcus Peters working their way back from injuries this past off season. I think they're playing pretty well. And I think they improve this defense as we start to go along and those two guys get a little bit healthier. If bill's fans are looking for a silver lining for overall defensive health, they're probably not going to find that either and match up against Lamar Jackson and how explosive he has been through the first three games has been pretty eye opening just when you think Lamar maybe poised to take a step back or a little bit more reluctant to run. The ravens lead the NFL in yards per play this season at nearly 7. They're third in yards per rush in yards per pass. The bills defense has exceeded some expectations. The metrics are good there. And no quarterback has been blitzed more than Lamar Jackson this season at 41% of his drop backs. The caveat to that is that no team has bliss lets, no team has blitzed less easy for me to say, than the bills, 7% of opponents drop X in pain. We talk all the time. The key to slowing down the mar Jackson is having athletic safeties. You talk about javon Holland when they play the dolphins. We know what Micah Hyde and Jordan poyer can do. Well, Hyde is lost for the season, Jordan poyer is dealing with injuries. If buffalo is banged up in their defensive backfield, can they possibly devise a game plan, not only to slow down Lamar as a runner, but Lamar is a passer specifically as often as infrequently as effectively as he utilizes Mark Andrews in the middle of the field. The way Lamar is playing right now if the season were to end, he's clearly the MVP and you're starting to wonder if there's things defenses can do to even hinder his ability to not be this efficient. I mean, he just seems like no matter what you throw at him right now, he's been fantastic and it's just we kind of busted balls because he's put on a few pounds in the understanding was he did that to survive more hits this season and stay healthy. So the way he's playing just inject all the popcorn and milkshakes into his veins because he is just unbelievable. You may need to change your watch. When you watch the film and then you look at the data, you're like, this is just unbelievable. But the one thing I would say is based upon what he's seen so far and what the bills do defensively, Lamar Jackson is going to get a different look this week. The first three weeks against the jets dolphins and patriots. That trio of defense is either playing man coverage or bullets debt ridiculous rates or did both. That's just kind of how they devised their game plans. Dolphins sent heat on 55% of Lamar's drop backs, patriots, 38%. Jets lived in man coverage. Buffalo doesn't play anything like that. And you hit this perfectly. The bill's defense has played the second highest rate of two high shell. The bills are also number one in pressure rate on early downs the first three quarters, while blitzing the very least. Buffalo doesn't have to blitz to get pressure. None of what they do defensively is what Lamar Jackson's faced the first three weeks. It will be interesting to see how he handles that. Now Lamar's third and EPA per drop back against non too high shell looks 19th when he plays two high shells. So that is what buffalo does defensively, but it might not be at the level as you indicated if poyer is down in addition to Micah Hyde, who's out for the season, poyer's dealing with a foot injury was limited at practice on Wednesday. Let's see how that progresses. I just look at this. I think the thought process of can you employ that style to the level that you need against Lamar with all of these injuries? Why? Still in the P U P. Micah Hyde as we mentioned out. And then the new guy, right? Christian benford broke his hand in the dolphins game. He's out. Dane Jackson highly questionable again. Monitor the poyer thing because he's kind of that defensive team leader now. He's been limited. You also have Jordan Phillips, who's out again at Oliver was limited.

"Okay, we'll see how prepped you are for that 8 5 5 two four two Paul is the number Marlon Humphrey, our guest here in studio. We'll take your phone calls coming up next. Peter burns in for Paul finebaum. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. What's up, y'all welcome back, Paul fine bombshell, Peter burns, alongside Marlon Humphrey, the star of studio 44 over for Baltimore Ravens. You'll be able to get a chance to see that more episodes coming up. But I promise you, we're going to get some phone calls. So we are not going to let you get out of this at this point. So will is in North Carolina. Thanks for joining the Paul fine bombshell, Marlon Humphrey sitting in. What's up will? Also, y'all doing all right. Doing good, doing good. The dream. I was going to ask tomorrow and if he had a pick in this year's draft, I first round pick and I mean, hypothetically speaking, he pick anybody you want. Who is he pick? You know, of course, love the talk. I would have to go with Evan Neal. I mean, if you just, first off, you just look at him. I mean, that's like, that's beauty and pads. You know what I mean? His movement, he's, you know, I feel like he's just planted. He's a hard guy to move. He has the athleticism I think in the hips to strike his punch. I think when you get a good left tackle, I mean, that guy can be there for a really long time. He reminds me a little bit of my teammate Ronnie Stanley, who would just recently paid last year the year before. I think he's a cat misguided, some people got the Hutchinson from Michigan, but I think the safest pick is Evan Neal and he's going to be a guy that's going to be a really good player for a really long time. What about all the flip side too? And he might not be high on that list because of the injury, but the problems with having to corral Jameson Williams. You know, like whenever he gets a 100% healthy, like with the ACL, which they said, hey, he's far enough removed from it. What issues does that present to your side of the ball? Man, I went and saw a Bama play that against Miami first game of the year. He caught a pass across the field and I'm like, oh, he'll be tackled. And the speed he took to just beat that safety was really next level. I think even that clip against Georgia, the double move with two guys right there. He has just a speed to just take any top off any secondary and I think, you know, a guy like that, I think he'll be an immediate problem coming to his rookie year. So he's got some things that I think you can't teach speed. You can teach a lot of things, but you can't teach that speed. It might be a Kansas City chief by the end of the day. I hope not there. Alvin love a day, you know what I mean? Holmes doesn't need any more help. William is in Louisiana. Thanks for joining Peter burr's Marlon Humphrey what's up, man. For starters, I'm surprised that there hasn't been like a little controversy between you and Marlon yet since PBR and LSU fan. He's a Bama. As far as there hasn't been like a fight between y'all yet. A little bit. Listen, a, this guy's a much better shape than me, right? And B, I'm already married to an Alabama fan, so listen, I get a bunch of hell every single day, right? My daughter is four and a half years old and all she knows is sweet home Alabama and roll tide roll in the burns household. So I trust me, I already deal with that. Oh God. Marlon, what do you think about Lamar Jackson? As your quarterback. I love Lamar. I think he is being around Lamar is like, it's such a humbling experience. You know, MVP guy, he's I mean, he is, I mean, he's had all the attributes that put you at the very top and he's just such a humble guy. We'll do anything for you. He's a really great guy to be around you. Very rarely around a superstar like that. And he's that humble to show up to your event, you invite him to your charity event, knowing he's going to get bombarded with pictures the entire I mean, he pulls up tar Vince and support us, and he's got to take 70 pictures. It spends his whole time doing that. But he's humbled enough to really care for his guys, but the biggest thing with the mar is, which he said many times, all he really cares about is winning. That's all he really talks about. I mean, the guy's not even trying to get a contract right now. All he wants to do is win. That's really awesome. Is that crazy right now that's going on. You see the Kyler Murray stuff and taking yourself off all social media and they're trying to play this role. I don't see Lamar necessarily doing that right now. What does that speak to how he is and how he fits in that organization right now? I think it speaks volumes. You know, you see, you see somebody do something with their contract, trying to do this, tweeting this, liking this. And all these different tactics that guys think or work or may work, who knows, but Lamar is just like, as cool as can be, you know? He could get life-changing money, which he can and I know he will down the line, but right now he's worried about what matters most and that's winning ball games getting healthy and coming back as good as he can for training camp. All right. I asked this question earlier. And you fly bomb callers in tweeters have been putting into it. You go private jet. Private jet to Vegas, and you can take three SEC coaches. No matter the sport, who you roll with. All right, all right. I gotta go with my guideline kiffin. Don't miss. Okay. Okay. I was with laying it Alabama. Gotta take him. Secondly, I would have to take, I'd have to take Kirby smart. He's up there. And then I think my third, I'm not auburn guy clearly. But I would have to take either pearl or is it parson? That's working arson. Yeah? Brown horse is in a little wild man. You know what I mean? I already know. I want to those two. So I got four. Listen, you could do that. Edward rob real quick, what do you got for us here on the Paul fine bombshell? It's a pleasure to talk to you guys. I'm a big NFL fan, you know, Green Bay Packers. And then I moved to Alabama 20 years ago and I'm Alabama team. So it's great to talk to you guys. What was the biggest adjustment, the most difficult adjustment to make some college to NFL, and then my second question, who is your best NFL player on The Office and on the defense? All right, we got about ten seconds or 15 seconds here. So what do you got here? The biggest transition is playing that many games. 17, 17 games is way different than the typical college schedule. So that's what makes it really tough. On the flip side, hardest to cover or play against? Was it OBJ or who else? Hardest to cover was probably my rookie year going against AB and Big Ben and Le'Veon and AB gave me some, he gave me some troubles. How about that? I gave you 20 seconds and you hit it right on the absolute die. This is what I do. That's what I do. Peter burns. We'll be back here on the fine bomb show..

"Like, there's a chance there and then I felt that for sure at 18, I would probably end up being a Titan and so I think basically everybody in my house thought I was going to be going to the Titans at the time. I think my mom actually missed my draft call because she was telling the people in the garage that I was going to the Titan. That was going to be. She was like, all right guys, he's two picks away. And then out of nowhere, we're sitting there, relaxing. And my phone rings and it was a ravens and it was all she wrote. Overall too. Talk about, what's that like with having Nick during that process, right? Because there was a statement that came out a couple days ago that says it was like Alabama players have won like $1.6 billion or earned that much in NFL. Is that a conversation you had with coach prior to signing? Is it a conversation you have with your coaches during the process of, hey, this is what I want to do and how help me get there. Saban is just, I mean, I feel like he's second to know when it just comes to professionalism. I think from day one you get there, I feel like 7 from Alabama to the ravens, nothing really changed from the way how business is handled, whether you're in the meetings, whether you're conducting 7 practice, whether it's a discipline doing something here, and that's kind of a similar high school was as well. So I went to a really good high school really structural high school, a great Hoover, Alabama. Hoover high school. Went to Bama, it was, of course, strict structured. And that's really how I've always liked my life. I think when everything structured in the order it makes everybody think clearly. And I think that's what Saban does head and shoulders better than everybody else. What was the structure difference between Alabama and the NFL? Was it very similar? I would say that the biggest structure difference is Sabin's like, there's a lot of things that bamboo that you're not going to, you can't really, there's certain things you can't do at all. And the NFL more put the responsibility on you because you're at that point, you're more buttoned up at Alabama than it is at NFL team. I would say it's much more buttoned up. There's more like, are you got to do this? You got to do this. It's got this NFL. They're like, you should know that you should eat well. They're not going to be like, you have to eat lunch. You have to eat this. You're a young kid like that. You might skip all the meals. So there's a couple different things as far as meetings and different things like that. That just wants to make sure you're doing things right. And there's really, you know, I'm not going to get in trouble and the NFL for what I say or I can really say whatever, but the freshman can't even talk. You know what I mean? So it's a big difference in that. And that's the difference because your personality, man, you lit up. You come here in the studios where all we're kicking it back before the show and having a good time. And then now you're carrying over and doing that with Baltimore Ravens as well too with this studio 44. It's a play on Studio 54. We used to be the crazy night club in New York City. I mean, so walk me through this. How do you pitch this? What is it about? So for me, I came to the ravens about, I don't know, maybe three weeks ago. And I was telling them, you know, I want to kind of do a show here, you guys have you guys shoot it, help me kind of edit and do all the clips and everything. And came up with the name studio 44 and we actually the new logo is one of the logos was about to be Studio 54 similar to that, but we didn't go there, but it's just me sitting down to interview and I interviewed Eric Dakota our general manager. So that was a pretty good first episode. I thought, just interviewing different people players, personnel, different people in the city. I want to get Ray Lewis. Michael Phelps, you know, people that are really big in the DMV Baltimore area and just kind of be on that other side. I think something interesting I recently heard is every interview I've done up to this point, it was always about me. Someone was always wondering what my opinion was. And it was interesting to get in the other side and say, I want to know what your takes are on this. I want to know what you think about this. And so it's really different for me because how do you get those answers out of somebody? And I think that's what makes certain interviews really good and makes certain things not so good. And it's just stepping on the other side of the media, which is what I've really grown to learn more over the past two weeks. I did a couple different things, different places. And it's been really interesting to see how all this media things work. It's easy. Idiot like me can do it, right? Who do you want to have on there? Give me the white whale, this is a list at the top, and we're going to work down it when people say yes. So I for sure want to get the owner. Look at mister Steve bisciotti, that would be, I want to know what is it? What's the owner of NFL team doing? You know, I actually think what do you do around here except make a whole lot of money. Yeah, you know what I mean? I want to get him. Of course, Raven's legends from rays to the edge. If I had to say, I want to have a conversation with studio 44, I want you to have your biggest play in enemy. The biggest enemy that you have, whether it be an NFL or college football, and I want you to sit down and interview them, who you sit next to. My biggest your biggest enemy that you played against at either they torched you or a guy that says, I gotta pick your brain about this. Come on now. My biggest man, I don't think I have a true enemy, I guess. I don't think I have an enemy, for sure, but I guess I'd sit down with OBJ. OBJ. I mean, I don't have any beef with that BJ. Right. But we had a little something. But he's a great player, of course, but he's also, he's like, he thinks differently. He's an icon. You know what I mean? He's an icon in a football in the football realm. He's almost like, I mean, some people just see him as just an icon as opposed to a football player in different places. So I think he'd be somebody to be really interested in pick his brain. How hard is that to separate? Because when people know Marlon Humphrey, the football player. But you got a helmet on and like you said, you didn't speak a lot to the media. How hard is that to punch through and get people to know the true you? When you're in the middle of the season. I think sometimes it's so funny. You know, with social media and different things you post, you went on, I don't know, whatever you're doing, it's almost like watching the gym practicing. When you live in your life, you have people do that. Yeah, in the off season, different things, but it's funny, I think you kind of just live, I think, you know, for me, the off seasons are always great. You know, it's a time for me to take a step back from football, still train and everything, but so many different things travel see the world. I usually take a trip out of the country every year. Family time, I got 229 acres in Alabama. I've been learning all about that outside and different things. That's a lot of work. I'll say that to make that stuff look good. It's so many different interests and different things I have. So the off season is a really great for me because I get a chance to really just do some of my interests and different things and learn new things. I think a lot of people stick to football and thank football, breathe football, eat football. And to me, I felt that approach is unsustainable. And so it's been really a blessing just to be able to enjoy the fruits of my labor. With family with friends and just get that a long time that you really need. All right, are you ready for a fine bomb callers? We're ready for some different, you know. Another one. I've heard..

"You guys are locked into the Paul fine bombshell, Peter burns, sitting here with true talent. Marlon Humphrey, Alabama crips and Todd, and of course Baltimore Ravens, big television host now as well too in studio 44. We'll get into that. We were talking about name image and likeness deals and stuff like that earlier today. Had you had one, Marlon Humphrey in school, which one would you have gone with? What would have been the first one you'd be like, sign it, we're in. Oh man, there's been so many, I think, I love me some Milos, you know, being a Bama guy. I love me some malo, so I would have had to give Milos for sure. And I don't know. I would have been going down a lot, but I first would have started with the food first. Of course, miles would have been one of my top ones, and then I would just let the chips fly with their fly. They probably would have, right? I mean, that's one of the things that we see with guys right now, doing it. And you went to Alabama for what reason. What was the reason why it was a name image alike is it wasn't transfer portal or anything like that. Why did you go down to T town? I went to Bama because of the dreams I had. When I looked down at it, looked at all the schools, I said, all right, what school can I go? When the championship and go on to be live out of dream and playing the NFL at the cornerback position and at the time, Alabama had drank her Patrick D millen or Javier arena, all these guys that just had all these incredible talents went on to play at the next level. And at one championships along the way, and ended up getting education. I was like, I can win with all three there. So it was a for sure deal with Bama. Had it not been Bama who would have been? Florida said was really big on my radar. German pro was recruit me there. I actually was able to play under all the coaches that really recruited me basically. But it ended up working out well. But Florida state was at a big love there. They kind of had played a couple of tricks on me, but they didn't get me, but they had some good stuff. Oh, wait, should I follow up on this? You should follow them a lot. Nobody can say they played a couple of tricks I mean, and we just have dead air and I move on. I'm curious. I had a girl there at the time, but now I knew through traction, she ended up going there and I went on my visit and she just happened to pop up and it was you think coaches knew that and they'd be like, hey, it would be solid if all of a sudden you kind of bump into each other here. Yeah, so the lady didn't get me. It came down to business. I went to bed. But it was a really tough decision because I really, really enjoyed that school, really enjoyed jimba recruitment there. They were a really good program at the time. They've kind of taken a couple of steps back, but I'm sure they'll bounce back soon. What's that like to? Because lives are going to change here in Las Vegas over the next couple of nights. You did it first round draft. He was 16. 17. 1617, okay. What's that lead up from the last time you play to draft night? What's that process at all these Bama guys and SEC guys are dealing with right now? It's a really exciting feeling for me. And I know those guys, you put in all this work, you say one day I want to go to the NFL. And then you get a chance to really face it. I feel like my draft day was the longest day ever, like leading up to it. I had a suit. I was ready to put it on. I go to put the pants on or I guess I gained some weight and couldn't even wear the pants. I was like, okay, you know, that's okay, so I'll put on another pants, but I had a great jacket. So walk me through that, right? So you're probably training, you're eating fine bomb, nothing but kale and water, right? So you're all ripped for the combine. Are you allowed to kind of after these draft workouts for teams? Are you allowed to kind of let loose a little bit and have fun or no? Yeah, well, it's all for the combine. That was my biggest thing. I was like, yo, I need to go to this kanban, be this, be this, run well. And that's really what I did. And after a while you get a little downtime, 'cause we went to the championship, you didn't really have a time to really relax at all. So after the combine I relaxed a little, was still training, wake up that day, go to a workout, hang with the family, and then I did the draft in my house, had to have the draft party all set up. And it was a life-changing day and I was very thankful I was able to celebrate it with my family. When you get that phone call and these guys are going to be getting these phone calls, right? And Derek stingley is going to be one of these guys to get a phone call early. Was it the ravens that gave you the first phone call or were there people calling you as well, kind of throughout that day or that process going, hey, if you're here, we're going to take you. For me, I had, I had a really good visit with the Titans. I thought for sure I would go to the Titans. I didn't know they told me they were going to pick a guy early. They had two picks in the first round. So I was always thinking, I might be like, I think they had 5th or something like that..

"Of dollars adding jobs to the game days here are very different than they were when Kevin summon was here. It's been a great thing for our community. And to piggyback off of that as well that the coaches are definitely more than motivational speakers. I played college athletics myself and I can tell you my coach was much, much more than a motivational speaker to me and to a lot of the other young men that I played with. And the recruiting classes are really the lifeblood of college football, especially and that's where their argument yesterday about Kirby smart and Nick Saban and a lot of some people will throw Jimbo Fisher into that mix. That's recruits and recruiting matters and coaches matter in the recruiting, the players are who plays and that's why they deserve to be compensated, but the coaches are definitely more than motivational speakers. They pour into those young men and they pour into their communities big time. Tom, thank you for the phone call. That was an eloquent way of putting it. And I'm glad you said it. Again, to a T, whether I've heard from, you know, I host every single morning on SEC this morning over in SiriusXM and we do it during football season on TV here on SEC network with Chris doring. Enduring talks about that all the time about one of his best friends in the world is Steve spurrier. Not because spurrier won a bunch of games just because to a man, he learned those lessons. I mean, guys that play for Eli drinkwitz, guys that play for Shane Bieber right now, right? Like all of those guys are going to be father figures and mentors toward these guys. Not all of them are going to win titles, but pretty much to a T, you know, you have a good relationship with your coach. And those who don't, they're rolling into the transfer portal. Now they have that option right now. I don't like it. I hate the fact. I absolutely can not stand the fact that you can transfer inside of our conference and be immediately eligible, right? I don't like that. I don't like that all of a sudden I see Xavier Pence and playing for Missouri in the next year. He's playing for LSU. I frankly don't like that. But the league looked at it and said, every other conference is allowing it, we're not going to put ourselves in a disadvantage, so we're going to allow it as well. You've seen Jerome Burton, right? Switching gears from Georgia to Alabama. It's going to happen. And instead of complaining about it, we just got to realize that's just the way sports is going to be like it or not. And I think you'll still be hanging around hanging out with us. Let's take a tray in Tuscaloosa. What's up, Trey? Hey, mister burn, you're doing a great job today. Mister Feinstein watch his own show when he's out there in Vegas, do you think? You know what? I would imagine he's out there probably with a pina colada getting some sun over it. He might be at some Vegas pool party right now with the day clubs, something like that is my guess with Paul. Yeah, well, I'm going to give you my coat three coaches, but I don't want to say something. JK has become the second worst call y'all have behind Jim. For any caller to say that coaches don't sacrifice anything, it's just as lost as lost can be about what it takes to be a great coach. And most countries Nick Saban, Kirby, Napier, all of them have played football in the past to get these kids where they're at today. So that's he's just lost. Now, my coaches I would take to Vegas will, I am not taking is Jimbo Fisher, and I'm going to tell you why. He is a fast talker. I'm afraid he'd talk to you at everything you own because he talked too fast. Now I'm going to take Nick Saban 'cause I know he would keep us on schedule and our take Eric muscle in the same reason why you would take Bruce pearl. I see Eric Muslim getting a shit off dance all the tables and everything. And then I'm going to go to one more that didn't last very long and nasty and he embarrassed my school, but I'm going to take Mike price because I know I use his credit card and then go to all the strip clubs that are available in Vegas. Have a great day, mister burns. Trey. Trey. Trolling, baby. The show is rolling. 8 5 5 two four two Paul. We're going to be joined by Marlon Humphrey in just a little bit. Let's get to another phone call in here. Trey and Arkansas. Oh Trey, what's going on at the house? Everything okay. I hear this. Chaos. Yeah. Perfectly fine. But anyways, I'm going to answer yours. I would take pitman, I'm taking muscleman. And I'm taking a shame beamer. That's a good answer. Yeah. And then I got a question. How's Arkansas basketball recruiting? Shaken up. Troy, thank you for the phone call. I would say that it's at least going to be top three when it all shapes out. I know there was pre season one for a while back and Muslims done a good job. I mean, again, what he's done is he's found a way to get some of these transfers to come into Fayetteville and they fit the bill right off the bat place. He's bussy is a good fun coach. I mean, all joking around, he has a good time, and he's engaged. The same way with Shane beamer has done it, right? And that's a way that you're connecting. And we had a caller in the first hour talking about, oh, you know, just instead of the coaches are too paid, go ahead and give them a computer. Well, you're not going to have that human element. And that human element as to why Eric musselman may arguably go down as maybe the best basketball coach that we've seen in this conference right now, not Bruce pearl, not coach Cal, but over the last two seasons, look at how well that he's played, sure enough. He's had some success. All right, Marlon Humphrey, going to be joining me in studio for the next 30 minutes. Get your phone calls in here. I want to go to Vegas with him as well too. We'll discuss that coming up next. Peter burns and football fine bomb. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. And.

"We'll break down a little draft in Vegas, Marlon Humphrey, but a blast he's been. He's been hanging out with us over here at the SEC network studios for a little bit. He's going to kick it with us at four 30 p.m. eastern. Scott Limbaugh is the head coach for vandy men's golf. They just won back to back SEC championships down at sea island. He'll join me and then Kevin Clark of the ringer fantastic journalist had a really good article talking about NIL and what's going on and kind of the new recruiting wars that are going on. A 5 5 two four two Paul is the number you can always tweet me at Peter burns, ESPN. Speaking of that, I sent this tweet out and said, with Vegas having Paul finebaum as a guest, we were talking about it in the show prep area. You get a private jet plus a weekend in Vegas. You can invite three SEC coaches which three are you taking and why? Let's go to David in Alabama, David. Thanks for joining Peter burns here. What three coaches you take in on this Vegas trip? Hi, Peter, what's going on? How you doing, bud? Doing great. I'm not taking three. I'm taking two. I'm taking Sabin and Kirby. All right, tell me why, David, you taking your a that you're only taking two and is only going to be Nick and Kirby. Like you figure out a way to win and the reason I'm taking Kirby, he's lucky as hell. Hey, you know, David, you got to have somebody that has a little bit of a horseshoe, right? With the rabbits with the rabbits Paul there on the way. Thank you for the phone call. Sabin would be interesting if he was your pick to Vegas, because a, you know you're going to get the absolute red carpet rollout, right? Coach Sabin, I've seen it firsthand. Anything he wants he's going to get. Saban will probably go down to a nice really good steak dinner. It'll be unreal. They'll have a nice glass of wine. And he'll probably like walk you to the nightclub where they'll have it all roped out. You'll have the whole nightclub set for yourself. And then Nick would probably just say, all right, you guys are in. I'm calling it a night, go have a good night. That's probably the way Nick would do it. 8 5 5 two four.

"The pride passion that pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul fine bomb show our two podcast. What's up, y'all? Back for another hour. Peter burns sitting in for Paul fine bomb, who is on a jet plane over to Las Vegas. He'll be doing the show live from the, I think it's 7 O two area code if I'm not mistaken for the next couple of days. So you're hanging out with me for at least three more hours. 8 5 5 two four two Paul is the number we're talking about Mark emirate, deciding to step down early, remember he inexplicably got a contract extension almost a year ago today to 2025 and everybody was like, huh? Like, what, what? Really? Well, he decided, you know what? This thing's about to dissolve. And so he's bouncing out in 2023. Greg sankey has already said he's not interested in a job and I don't blame him. Why would he downgrade in a job? He's got the best gig and really college athletics right now. It probably has more power than Mark emirate as the commissioner of the SEC. 8 5 5 two four two Paul is the number. Let's go to pat in Georgia. Thanks for joining Peter burns here in the Paul finebaum show. What's up, pat? Hey, Peter. Thanks for being here today. I appreciate you. Thanks for listening, man. I think Greg, thank you, and SEC. Mark hammer, a debt of gratitude for being the quintessential incompetent nincompoop at the NCAA. And can't wait to see him go. But that's not why I called. There's a lot of talk yesterday about Kirby and about Nick Saban. And our Georgia bulldog, I think Kirby's got a Flynn a few more naughties before he's going to eclipse Nick. But I've got a front row seat and I'm going to enjoy the ride. What do you think? Patsy, you're saying even though you being a Georgia fan and I'm told yesterday was a heated four hour back and forth trench warfare between the callers about a better coach, Kirby smart and Nick Saban. You still, as a Georgia bulldog fan, even fresh off the title, still roll with Nick Saban, right? Well, in short, yes, but that's not what I said. Nick's not ready to eclipse to be eclipsed by Kirby yet. Kirby, Kirby's got one. Next got a bunch. But I think Kirby's Achilles heel or quarterbacks. He's never handled them. Well, as long as he's been at Georgia and I'm probably one of the few Georgia fans that I'm sorry that steps have been it came back. All he did was muddy the waters. How can Kirby get better at quarterbacks? Well, I mean, pat, thank you for the phone call. And Kirby can get better at quarterbacks by recruiting good quarterbacks. Well, guess what? He's got gunner Stockton, right? He's got Brock van der Griff. He's got Carson Becky has really good quarterbacks. Well, guess what? If they were good enough to beat out stetson Bennett right now, and they were overwhelmingly that much better, they play over stetson Bennett, right? And now Todd munchkins got an offense in which he knows he can hand the keys over to stetson Bennett, and they can say, listen, listen, we may not throw it 75 times. It may not look like Joe burrow and LSU, but we can get it out to Washington. We can get it out to Gilbert. We can get it out to all of these guys, run the ball extremely well, and play great defense. So again, I would say that Kirby is mismanaged a quarterback situation and you might say that going back to the Justin Fields, Jake fram days back in those days. But at the end of the day, he just won a natty. And hard to disagree that he's not doing the right things. Now I will be kind of curious to see because I would imagine somebody's going to transfer from that quarterback room. You can't have that many high star recruits in everyone's jockeying physician, they could play somewhere else. I'm very curious to see what it looks like over the next couple of weeks as the transfer portal will close for this season. Let's go to Mike is in Kentucky. Thanks, Mike, for joining us here in the Paul fine bombshell. What's up? Hey, Peter. Man, I got an idea that a whole lot makes a whole lot more sense and paint all these players in 90% of the main worth of money. Okay. There's only 2% I'm only 2% of college players have extended NFL careers. Now they want to give them all hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why don't they do this, Peter? AI robot coaches that think a 100,000 times faster than Nick Saban that can predict your play calling with 99.9 9% accuracy. We'll see how good Nick Saban is in, huh? You know, it's interesting. It's funny because we talked about it. And I've heard that from fans saying, well, wait a minute. Why are these guys these recruits or why is this guy who's played one year getting this amount of money? Well, why is that any different than coaches that get contract extensions as well too? So again, it comes to the point of, I know you're joking around about saying, hey, let's just find Watson the IBM computer in program all these numbers. But there's still a very human element, right? There's a human element of the game. There's definitely a human element in recruiting. Some guys have it in some guys don't right now. And I think that's why the guys like Nick Saban and even Kirby smart and those others do not like name image and likeness as much because they have an advantage, right? They've built this advantage of, hey, this is how good we are of getting guys to the NFL. Hell, we're probably going to see Georgia set the record coming up the next couple of nights for the most guys drafted. And they're like, are we going to lose that edge if all of a sudden Miami? Or USC can offer this same recruit that would normally come to the SEC where they're not going to come from California now because all of a sudden some big time booster with the Trojans is going to say, well, you're worth $750,000 a year. That's why those coaches don't necessarily like it. But here's the deal. They can play by those same rules as well. The problem is nobody knows the rules. JK, thanks for joining us here at the Paul fine bombshell. What's up? Is that Peter bar Joe? All doing great, man. How you doing? I can't complain about nothing, man. Let me try to get a lot of light in a few seconds. First of all, all of these coaches that may have an issue or whining or crying about and complaining about certain players going to certain schools and they might not get the advantage from this point forward I didn't hear none of these coaches before when they obviously were paying players under the table to come to their school. They are on top. So I don't see what the issue is now. I don't understand the issue that some fans have with these kids getting paid for sacrificing their bodies on the field. When, in fact, a coach can make millions and millions of dollars for failing at his coaching job and with that early buyout. So all of that crap just needs to stop. And let me chime in on this coaching thing about saving and Kirby. I call Kirby, Kirby dumb, before this year, because there is no way he should have lost the Nick saving. The last three times that they played with double digit leads at halftime. I renamed him curvy dumb. But because he beat Alabama,.

You know i had under one and a half for short tedi. Oh wow man and then then the two boys later it's the don't then it's the next. And then they do harm. They go an alex. Leatherwood jumps offsides. You're like i can't believe what i'm watching. sure enough. Two plays later off the helmet into the hands of the rapists. And you're like i cannot believe is happening. But then lamar. Jackson puts the ball on the ground again which drew and i talked about earlier this week. It's it's hard to get mad at lamar jackson because he was running for his life the entire game. And then finally the touchdown were marlon humphrey in the middle of the ball in mid air goes. Yeah you're going to score good. That's just bananas bananas. Like you'll see guilty. You like waller over six naff minus one hundred seventy four and a half which is what it is currently at. Yes just over over over all dare cars throat ball game and they should. It seems to me that that's the correct play but Threw saying that minkah fitzpatrick is gonna is gonna get all over him but still it's not gonna matter if they throw to eight hundred times right eight hundred times. It won't matter but yeah. I agree with the veteran of too. But i mean. I'm not going under on waller props. Let's put it that way. Todd bet i you know. I don't like any of these damn games but if i had to pick one i'll take the new england patriots minus the six at the new york jets now. I was a little skeptical of all the mac jones. Everyone was getting complete excited sexually over mack jones. Like oh my god. This is the greatest quarterback in the history of football. And he's unbelievable. And oh my god. And i have to say. I was actually pretty impressed with mack. Jones i'll be honest. I was pretty impressed. It was a tough defense with with the dolphins they were inside the red zone. A whole bunch of times granted. They had to kick. Bill goes many times and of course they screwed gill in a fifty fifty toss up in the fourth quarter there. Okay fifty five forty five gill whatever anyways the point is they were moving the ball. He did throw one gorgeous ball on a wheel route that i was like god. Damn that was a rookie through that ball. This mac john's might be for real. And so i really liked what i saw at amac jones and because of that it's bella check against some guy from byu who also is creating sexual excitement for people but they came back to earth with you. What's happening to you right now. I'm trying to say a nice way to say in a in a family friendly way i was gonna use the b word but i'm not gonna say everybody. Everybody had a little too much excitement. About mr zach wilson and they came back to earth and i think they're going to have to come back there again this week. The jets are not a good football team. Folks they're just that good and you need a rookie quarterback and he's going to get bella. Check and bella checks to draw something up and if matt jones is gonna play decently i don't think minus six is so much to ask even though we're on the road okay. Mic my top pick..

It was rubbed played by a third in Renfro, which went against Marlon Humphrey, and it got Jones free on that game winner. Uh, it's been probably like what a year to the day since I've been in Vence make apologies. Their jobs had me a little busy working that Sun tan in the Kuwaiti desert. And it's epic to be back in on a victory Tuesday. You know, I was in Vegas this summer, and toward that place, I toured the death star. Beautiful Crips. Sweet, A legit football stadium, not the patch Mahal they built out an angle would Legendary legendary first game last night shades of 2016 lucky or not, probably the most impressive performance I've seen from a Raider defensive in probably five years swarm, tackling collapsing the pocket, forcing two turnovers out of a talent like Lamar Jackson both ended up as touchdowns. How unrated like is that but you've got to be lucky to be good. Couple of notes fan smack Nice to see our quarterback get through his his preseason in the first quarter before you could totally think our defense and by the way, that's dudes 22nd fourth quarter comeback if you need them. I'm a little concerned with the offensive line, especially at center. I mean God dang it. Andre James was like Keystone Cop trying to direct plays Campbell through traffic. "Who has walk up music these days, the autumn wind. He is Ranger Mike. What's up? Mike? Sense Mac epic epic. Thanks for taking the call buddy. For the record, Jim. It was rub play by a third and Renfroe, which went against Marlon Humphrey, and it got Jones free on that game winner. Uh, it's been probably like what a year to the day since I've been in van Smack. Apologies there. The jobs had me a little busy working that Sun tan in the Kuwaiti desert and its epic to be back in on a victory Tuesday. You know, I was in Vegas this summer, and toward that place, I toured the death star. Beautiful cribs. Sweet, A legit football stadium, not the patch Mahal they built out an angle would legendary legendary first game last night shades of 2016 lucky or not? Probably the most impressive performance I've seen from a Raider defensive and probably five years swarm, tackling collapsing the pocket, forcing two turnovers out of a talent like Lamar Jackson both ended up as touchdown. How unrated like is that but you've got to be lucky to be good. Couple of notes fan smack. Nice to see our quarterback Get through is his preseason in the first quarter before you could totally think our defense and by the way, that's dudes 20 seconds, fourth quarter comeback if you need them. I'm a little concerned with the offensive line, especially at center. I mean God dang it. Andre James was like Keystone top trying to direct plays Campbell through traffic. "So this is a team that has been banged up and really today had a horrible practice. Losing two players to what is thought to be season ending torn heels. Adam to your point these injuries especially to the running back room have happened in such a short span all happening. The three injuries all happening in the span of twelve days it out tyson williams practice player from a year ago doesn't have an nfl. Kerry becomes the ravens lead back. Is we bring it. Back out to dan and marcus. Here anthony everett by the way a fourth round pick in two thousand eighteen out of alabama would be a candidate to replace marcus peters starting opposite of marlon humphrey that is a huge loss to as much as we talk about the offense on the defense side for the ravens. That's tough for me. I think it's bigger than losing gusts edwards candidate. Because this is a defense you notice big fella that they wanna pressure and they wanna play man coverage in today's nfl. You better have three guys in your secondary corner wise. That can play. That can straight up cover because you're gonna play offenses that are built upon weapons. Right look at their schedule. They open up raiders. Well waller and rugs and renfro. Brian edwards then week two kids city. I don't need to boost up their weapons denver in caja handler jerry. Indie pitman and their tailbacks tight ends. We're talking the chargers. I mean this is a team that is going to in many ways to reshape their identity. Defensively because marcus peters was a corner that you could go. We're gonna pressure on complete lockdown. Man he's going to be good. They can't do that anymore without him. All right what about on the running back side of things. What do they go out and do can they make a trade. If there's someone out there that would make sense. I mean conventionally you think murray after him not taking a pay cut from the new orleans saints. You think that's a guy that's ready to play. Maybe not the greatest fit but right now you panic mode like you you in depth. You need dip until your point with marcus. Peters about the defense is not only about losing a really good player. It's a shot right at the heart of your ski the way you do things from an offensive standpoint with the baltimore ravens is predicated on a lotta guys being in. The backfield is predicated on keeping carries off of those guys like to earth. Yeah especially a and then. You think about wit lamar. It's effective for a lot of guys because of how he plays the quarterbacks the devastating for these guys individually from an injury standpoint missing season. But more with the team you do. Your philosophy is is show. The mostaert told the maybe ronald jones with thirty one other teams trying to figure out what the bottom line. We'll see this ravens.

"He was number. Forty one on the network west. now i'm i'm scrambling stefan gilmore in that conversation and then Marlon humphrey also and marlins and other one. Where like marlins probably better than we realized but because the way that ravens defense plays marlin and solve our problems. And it's like hey this is a very fair to this guy. He hasn't had safety two thousand seventeen on fair. All right. so rogers. I've i've spoken to nauseam alaska for weeks on this podcast about rogers mean. I think that it's this when you watch him practice. It's too simple. Fake it's funny because in. Nfl head coach. It asked my tour. They were like who's the best person team. Whatever watch and in its training camp. And i always say rogers because of how easy he makes everything. Look i've talked a lot about the sort of how he experimented like that and what corvettes to take away but i was there the day of the viral net video You guys number of what. i'm on nut. So small little net. He was forty yards out. Any kind of just threw a perfect pass into it. And there are a million things that impression when he's running seven on sevens or whatever even eleven on eleven whatever but that throw to me. Although i was impressed i was really impressed when i saw the other two quarterbacks to jordan love bankers because they did what ninety nine point nine percent of quarterbacks do and they just hit the wooden post under the net. Because that's what happens because you're forty yards out and it was thought and it was efficient and to have the actual touch from forty yards out to get in that narrow of a whole. It is actually unbelievable. It was one of those things. It was more impressive. Live to see. I loved it as a trillion. Things i could say about rogers as a player but i just most recently was six my mind. He is super naturally. Gifted ap playing the quarterback position so aaron rodgers number. Two stephen. i'm gonna go with. Patrick mahomes but i'm gonna say number one for another person but patrick mahomes. Do i have to explain why i think that's a very good quarterback. No you don't you don't you. Don't what i'd like to do is get everybody's topped two here. And there will go to merits of of those two guys ben number towns to donald one. Okay so help me out. Because i had that flipped and that's a positional value thing. I'm just an idiot. And and i just value quarterbacks more than than i than defense of wyman justice from a from a value standpoint how they can how they can affect the franchise how they affect league in era and all that stuff when you were determining this release you started. Where actually before the podcast. I actually had homes. I just switched it up just to change things for the benefit of new guys credit. Believe anything i'm going to say. Great perfect welcome to the room. But if you would've asked me to list the best five players in nfl history. I think aaron. Donald has an argument for being the best player. Ever the best player we've ever seen zero. Yeah that's player ever not spent vitamin best era disregarding positional value for then that was just ten quarter justin justin tucker injustice right in the reason why i say in. It happened last year. When i started to think this. And it's because that defense and what they asked him was so different from what they were asking him before staley came aboard like he was playing like a four. I which is you. Don't rush from that. And he was still getting pass rush productivity and he was the key to their run defense which allowed them to be so to spend so many resources on the back end where they can play to high coverages every game. I think it's donald like he was the key to that. He could do that stuff. Defend the ron. While still offering pass rush and there are. I can't think of any other player in recent history that has enabled the do that. Besides maybe peak. Jj watt yes. So the p. Jj watt conversations. Always fun 'cause like what was keep pace with donald's production there for awhile and then obviously injuries got him. But that's all that's one of my favorite. Nfl what if's The simple reality for donald is yes like okay changing league basketball a lot more different rules. Whatever there's one interior rusher in history who has over a hundred careers acts john randall. aaron donald has played since two thousand fourteen. He's played seven seasons. He has eighty five and a half. He's not thirty yet. He's gonna play another six seasons easy probably more especially if he's able to stay healthy which he has shown an unbelievable ability to stay healthy at a very violent aggressive position He's going finish top four on the all time sack list. I think it is a top five days of his current base from the interior. He's just different. Cat like is just not there. There's dr shuman ideas that can encapsulate. How much better. He is at the most important thing you can do it. His position sack passer. Then everybody else who's played his issue right and that's the thing that's why we think because always a defense line is rated sacking. You have to not do that. You have to remember. He's an in terrier pass rusher. It is not supposed to look like this. This was inconceivable. Before donald and during donald it's still barely wrap your head around oval that he's this good this consistently at his size to like. He's just not how it's supposed to look in any capacity to me like mahomes is mind-bending and and donald is mind-blowing right. At least i still have some understanding of the game of football intact when i watched bathrooms whereas donald just lows your preconceived notions of the game and just out of the water. I think i feel league. I feel like the equivalent is if the ravens did start letting justin tucker cook. And he started baiting. Seventy yard field goals every week like that. That's what aaron donald is doing. I'll be honest. I can't track this. Justin tucker metaphor phone enough to be able to say i don't like that and i i've actually lost the threat of that particular notion. If you were each stephen as sitting around watching formula one.

"First line that you wrote for jalen ramsey who is your number one corner. The most bo- dacia search in the i honestly i have not heard the word bodacious a good long while but i'm glad you brought it back to the conversation. Because he's one of the few guys were his his his a ara his swagger. His demeanor matches his game. And when we think about d back is great. We're almost on the edge of the eve of the olympics plan. Because these guys are really. The catholics. Automatic coach said that they play the position on the field. They the only guys who go backwards while everyone else is going forward. He plays position as a requires a different level of athleticism a different mentality. And when i think about jalen ramsey i mean you talked about a guy who legitimate was a world class athlete at florida. State won the outdoor and indoor long jump championships at florida state multiple times. And so you talking about a long range explosive cornerback. But then he is a guy who has a tenacious spirit to his game Competitive that he's willing to challenge wide receivers at every turn. I will give the rams credit under the previous defense coordinator brandon daily. What he did is he really engaged. Jammie runs the in a different way instead of just putting them out why he moved them around and made them to quote unquote star corner. The star corner would play inside and slot situations play outside and depending upon. Who the rams were playing. They would deploy jalen ramsey differently. And you can't play that life where they play outside and inside because it requires so many different skills requires a different mentality. Be inside because now you've got run game responsibilities. You have to deal with slot receivers who have to weigh goals. With the exception of quickness. You had the big slot. Receivers michael thomas edwards out got to do with the physicality. Everybody's not built to plan. Their jalen. ramsey can not only play but he can play inside and he does it at exceedingly. Had love hard argue with that as the top lockdown corner in the league in you know in this position and guys who have this kind of distinction. We're talking about twenty million dollar players now in a week and i don't think many people would argue with that worth in what they provide to defense. I mean he's the only defender making twenty million dollars who's not pass rush right and you think about that. We talked about this game being one. Where is always about the past game either. You're a quarterback you helping the quarterback as a pass catcher playmaker or you're rushing the quarterback or you find a way to knock down the past. Jalen ramsey is at a level where he is deemed to be one of those guys in a special twenty million dollar club because his skills it is so rare and unique and the way that he plays the game and he plays. It's such a high level. It really alleviates a lot of the pressure on the rest of the to be able to get. So you've got jalen ramsey number one. I interested in the next three kinda feel like they could be anyone fairly equal footing right and might come to some surprise that you've got marlon humphrey in their number. Two is the guy. That's certainly an ascending player Feels like xavien..

"The official hot dog and hamburger bun of the Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff is one hour away, and that means that the last time Paul Brown Stadium has football this season. Dan or Dave level. Hopefully, next year, there's Joe Burrow in Game one, along with 60, plus 1000 fans in the seats. All right, that is music to my ears box. That would be wonderful. Let's hope that's going to be the case. Obviously, it won't be the case today as Cincinnati wraps up this season with about 10,000 fans in attendance is many as allowed by the state of Ohio as they get set for this home finale against the Baltimore Ravens and the real possibility lap that this is going to be the final time. We see a J. Green in a Bangles uniforms. I want to turn the clock back five seasons ago September of 2015. AJ had a personal best 227 yards in one game against this Baltimore Ravens team and after the game Frustrated John Harbaugh, the Ravens coach, famously said, quote one of these days will figure out how to cover a J. Green. It would be nice if we did it one time. Before he retires. Well in a perfect world Today, the Bangles will win will finish the season with a three game winning streak and a J. Green will catch at least one touchdown to tie Chad Johnson franchise record And who knows? Maybe a couple to stand alone on top of the mountain. And I'd like to see that personally, I love to see a J. Green do that, Because in my opinion, he is the most humble, consistent superstar I've ever met. I mean, a J. Green is just He's he's a sheer delight. I mean, the guy is a pure joy in terms of dealing with him as human being. I mean, he's a He's a tremendous husband. Tremendous father just just the kind of guy that you want A Zafer face. Your organization in AJ Green did nothing but put the Cincinnati Bengals in a good light on the football field off the football field. Everywhere else and in terms of this football game, I think it's gonna be interesting to see how it unfolds because Tyler Boyd, in my opinion is going to be covered by Marlon Humphrey. All the boys and if not the best slot receiver, one of the top three in the National Football League, and these guys go after each other. Marlon Humphrey. He kind of bullies a lot of slot receivers Tyler Boyd's a bigger guy in the slot. That's going to be interesting to watch. And then I think tea. Higgins. I think Peter's going to take tea. Higgins. So now who's going to cover a J. Jimmy Smith Woz. He's down ribs shoulder injury. So now you're talking about Anthony Everett and training Williams. AJ Green has to destroy those guys. AJ Green. They play a lot of man coverage. AJ Green has an opportunity to be a guy that could have a huge impact. On this football game. If they're two top corners, take the other receivers. Are you kidding me? Who would have ever thought AJ Green as a third option? Potentially working against their third corner? AJ Green, the third receiver in this football game, working against their third corner? I like that matchup. Come on A J. Come on, Brandon, find AJ Let him have a big game to go out on. I'm looking forward to seeing who matched Doug's up with AJ Green. AJ has had catches for 30 or more yards Heat to the last two weeks. Speaking of tea, Higgins referred to T. He needs just one catch today to set the all time franchise record for catches by a rookie in a single season. Cris Collinsworth shares the record now. With tea set 39 years ago and tea. Higgins needs 92 receiving yards today to join Cris Collinsworth and AJ Green is the only Bangles rookie receivers to have 1000 yard seasons. It's the Bangles and Ravens on a great day in Cincinnati, Let's go back to box in the studio. This.

NFL players approve new CBA, runs through 2030

"Radio one big measure that allows the NFL to move forward with business as usual is the approval of the new CBA time for straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless players this weekend voting in favor of the new collective bargaining agreement which means there will be labor peace for the next decade it also means that we will see a seventeen game scheduled as early as twenty twenty one the vote was close closer than many had expected ESPN analyst Damien woody clearly there's a lot of work going on as far as it relates to this new CBA deal you're talking about a difference with two thousand roughly two thousand please holding only fifty votes sixty votes were the difference on what this new CBA passing another narrative was you had the big money players you know saying no and rank and file is going to be it's going to follow through but that wasn't the case that was clearly not the case but it's both clearly there was a lot of racquetball player they did not agree with that with this new CBA also the union has some work to do CDA passes this weekend but as you heard passed by a margin of just sixty votes ESPN front office insider Louis Riddick yeah it's one of the situations where obviously you can you can tell that there's a lot of the desert there's a lot of uncertainty when you have the you know a boat that was separated by less than a hundred boats as far as accepting this new deal not accepting his new deal obviously there were people not just the top one percent of your top five percent with the rank and file as well that we're not comfortable with this you're talking about making deals like this but I understand that was part of the rank and file one point time and understand what our media hundred thousand dollar increase would mean but I you know I also believe that you know there really wasn't a chance of there being a work stoppage in twenty twenty they're gonna play games this year regardless and I think you know having been on the front office side of things and I've been around contract negotiators for the better part of the past two years of my post playing career twenty two years my post playing career when you have leverage you have time on your side the smart ones are the ones who try to lock you into long term deals early and entice you with cash flow immediately because they know they're going to make it back on the on the on the backside they're gonna make out it sounds like that's exactly what the owners got the players to do and I think once you start breaking it down and talking to people who really understand how CBA negotiations once before but the revenue sharing split actually really is and how revenue is going to explode once now owner start negotiating TV deals your movie centered on some one time prior to the two thousand eleven CBA that we were basically net net fifty fifty partners in now we're forty seven percent partners and we're going to forty eight point five percent part how did that were not actually fifty fifty partners anymore when we basically are the capital where the human capital and tried the game and we signed a deal that with the Europe tour early and we didn't have really any reason to do so because they were going to stop us from playing really this year anyway so there's a lot of questions I'm sure and that that right there it looked like it in the wake of both played itself out we really didn't get into this look man I mean I'm I'm I'm happy that he won because football is my life and that's you know I everything I have I owe to playing the game at the highest level inflated manifold the deal making deal making and owners are very good deal making I think they showed once again you're talking about the vote we have a lot of social reaction the Twitter reaction early on on the show in the ravens Marlon Humphrey tweeted that five hundred players didn't vote on the CVA we have the numbers last that's about right what do you say to that that's ridiculous man knocking Buhari's thing it's American will know what happens when you know you get into a situation involved voting and then you just don't even participate but then you're one of the people were complaining about how many things turn out if it doesn't turn out the word benefits you will you have no right to say anything that is one of the most important things outside of obviously what is going on a global basis right now which believe me I've gotten my attention and everyone else is but as far as your profession is concerned what is more important now than a ball players and his cast your vote one way or another educate yourself about how this new CD is going to affect you tell me five hundred plus people dissent I'm either on vacation I don't have time but you know I don't like don't we are you kidding me that's amazing to me that that the medically non participants when it when it comes to a democratic partisan voting there's just no excuse for his non otherwise don't don't say a word please don't say a word whether or not this is good or bad you don't they work if you have no you have no voice anymore you just elect not to participate that's very very disappointed new CDA passing by sixty votes with five hundred members
