"It's simple, and it's the easiest one to navigate. The primary's yesterday. Martha make Sally was Senator MK Sally was in with us was on with us this morning by phone that she has now got to play a little bit of catch up. And there's ah, a number of things that have gone on in her campaign, and she's down by double digits of 10 points, 12 points and some of the polls I've seen one is Lois seven, but she's trailing Mark Kelly. In the Senate race. She ran against Kirsten Cinema, and it was almost the same scenario. And what I mean by that is that Martha McSally had a primary And that primary was a tough one, though that was a tougher primary. And then you know where this is no disrespect to Daniel McCarthy. But she had a very difficult primary last time around, and so she had to focus on winning her nomination. Kirsten Cinema ran unopposed and was able to go for months with name idea around the state, declaring herself independent just like Arizona. She said she was a Democrat. Small D people don't care about political parties. And it was a plan that worked very well for her. Mark Kelly is doing exactly the same thing. Mark Kelly is saying. We need independent leadership to make decisions and I'll be independent. I'll be a senator for all of Arizona. And he's playing the Democrat Small D card. Senator MK Sally saying that she mark Kelly needs to answer for who he is, is challenging him to seven debates, three that the networks want three rural debates and another debate. So here was Mark Kelly's response to the seven debate challenge. I think it's very important that we have of robust debate.

"Mark Kelly was on his Democratic Candidate for the U. S. Senate joins us now on Arizona's Morning news. Happy fourth Mark. Thank you so much for your service to our country and to an agency that's near and dear to my heart. My dad works for the Johnson Space Centre has for the better part of the last four decades. And I do want to talk about space because there is some news here actually on that front, but first Governor Ducey decided this week to re closed some businesses due to the spike in cases here. Now there's all kind of legal battles potential legal battles happening on going on right now. Did the governor do the right thing? Yeah. In this case. Yeah. I mean, initially. What if you go back to when we re opened the CDC. And the public health officials said. We should see two weeks of decreasing cases. That wasn't the case we re opened. We never got the virus the outbreak under control, so we've got to take some steps. It's unfortunate. You know, I know. Business owners are are suffering out there. Folks have lost their jobs, but we can't allow this to spiral out of control. But do you think that there has to be some sort of balance Because you know people losing their jobs that and then you know that the $600 from the feds is due to run out soon. So that can cause a whole other set of problems. Isn't there a way to do both? Absolutely on DH. That's where the focus needs to be right. So wearing a mask, especially when you're in public, especially inside in public, social distancing, washing your hands. We need great examples from leadership. We need it reinforced over and over again. 100% of Arizonans would do this and be and be consistent about it. We could flatten the curve and we could start getting this infection right now is upto 12.5% I was looking today. Ah positive tests and we could we could really start to turn that around. But it's going to take a commitment by everybody. Alright, We're talking to Mark Kelly, Democratic US candidate for the for the Senate seat in with Martha McSally 7.5 1,000,000 jobs. Added over the last two months, and that includes June's jobs numbers were nearly five million were added. I know 30 million or so were lost during the pandemic. But do you see this as a positive that that jobs are coming back right now? Do you feel good about where the economy is headed? Well, yeah, I mean, that's certainly a good thing. I mean, it's better than having more jobs lost, though I do worry about you know, with our hospital's getting I seeyou beds here at 90% capacity that the hospital start to get overloaded. The steps the governor had to take now, and the economic impact of this is it's It's substantial right and it's going to last for some time. We do need to focus on the economy. We've got a healthcare crisis that caused an economic crisis. Um on DH. Folks are really struggling out there and talk to business owners across the state, and they're just trying to keep their heads above water. They need help from the government. I'm really concerned with those folks that have recently unemployed who's as you mentioned their unemployment. Insurance is going to run out soon. We've got to make sure that they you know that they could put food on the table. So this this is this is unfortunately this is far from over. It's important that everybody take this incredibly seriously. I worry about this Fourth of July weekend here where we're starting. Mark more than 200 veterans sent a letter to Governor Ducey urging him to remove Confederate statues in the state. I'm asking you this because you are a veteran, Do you think that these Ah, these statues need to be removed? Yeah, I think, but I think it's up to the government to make that decision. So I understand, But there were those 200 veterans are coming from. I agree. I think it's ah, It's time we take these steps. I think each one of these statues need to be looked at. You know, Separately, who The person is what their role Wass as part of the Confederacy. Um many of these statues are, you know, leadership during the Confederacy that No, these, You know, folks, You know, we're treasonous to our government and lost. So I understand where they're all coming from. Mark Kelly, Democrat US Senate candidate from Arizona, joining us and you've endorsed Joe Biden for President Rasmussen poll out this week of likely voters showed almost 40% think that he has dementia 20% of Democrats on Wednesday, he said he's been tested constantly for cognitive decline. Are you at all concerned about his state of mind or health? Or do you think he's firing on all cylinders? I am not worried about that. I mean, I think Vice President Biden has demonstrated leadership and has the ability to lead this country in a very difficult time. We've got four months to the election election is about choices. And you know, it's clear to me that Vice President Biden is the best choice to be elected president of the United States here and this year it actually Election day exactly four months from today, and we had you on last month, and several polls had you up double digits on Senator McSally. New data Orbital pull out two days ago shows McSally now within seven. Are you happy with where your campaign is right now? Well, I've got a great team. We're working really hard. Unfortunately, things have have changed with the pandemic. But public health is our number One priority here. We want to be I want to be helpful. We don't wanna be part of the problem, so we don't do anything in person. We've got four months to go to the election Polls are obviously a snap shot in time. They're not always accurate, were focused on getting our message out. And and I'm you know, also focused on Understanding all the issues that Arizona faces. So if I am elected the United States Senate, I'll be ready to do the job on day. One mark last question, and it is that at the very beginning Ah, there's there's a push by Republican Congresswoman Debbie Lesko. Congressman Paul Go Start to get Space Force Command headquarters here in Peoria. Now you're a military veteran and space forces the six branch of the military and you're also a space veteran. Is that something you would like to see? It'll be fantastic and made it within the state. I don't know exactly where in the state the Oriana. We should. We should put it. I heard I heard that it was recommended that it would be put in Peoria. We have a lot of great options here. We also have a lot of A defense industry here with I'm very talented and capable defense contractors or work for second support this. It's a great idea. Um, a lot of this capability right now is at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado, where a door at the station. But you know things can change. And I'd be an advocate for you know, little beings, the space force headquarters here to the state of Arizona. I think that's a good idea. All right, that's Democratic. U S Senate candidate for Arizona. Mark Kelly. Thank you so much for the time. We really appreciate it. Thanks again for your service to this country and have a happy fourth, OK? Yeah, You too, Jeremy. Thank you for having me on Alright. Take their likewise. All right, 7 50 on Arizona's morning news. Time to get back out to the Valley Chevy deal with traffic.

"Mark Kelly refused to shake are still Plato's handed the veterans day parade in Tucson or originally as we were going to break the but launch SpaceX but you know what that means to me means that all the right decisions to be made bill Riley bill o'reilly dot com all things Riley a simple man Mister Riley all right you want to talk about Biden will have time last segment your thoughts on this news on CNN last night very simple question posed if you were president what would you do differently to handle a pandemic so Mr Biden was loose it he had control over his words last night Mason road killing Reagan some familiar with because when Ronald Reagan got shot he lost that ability for a little while got it back so Biden could not or would not answer that question and I'm sitting there going what's going on I mean you don't have anything that you would do differently he said I listen to the scientists like cool well what it was implied that trump doesn't listen to decide is what's thought she emerged to win out there I mean come on the thing that not walk I'm sorry go ahead well it no he didn't have anything but he listened to the scientist that's what when they said and this is where there was no option here the country demanded a shut down the projections which have all been wrong so far we're two and a half million Americans were gonna die bill that's what they told us they got it wrong China lied all the models were wrong you know felt she I love the guy but he was saying the risk is low on February twenty ninth that he was saying that you know you don't have to wear a mask like March tenth and March ninth saying if you're young and healthy you can go on a cruise ship yeah yeah but that was a teed up for Biden to absolutely knock it out of the park here's what I would do differently than president trop ABCD he couldn't come up with one Hannity one of the Y. because I all they were impeaching him he put in the travel ban this was ten days after the first identified coronavirus case then the quarantine first in over fifty years then subsequent travel bans all during impeachment they weren't talking about corona nobody was buying I once you are the end and you would think if the interviewer would jump in and go Mr vice president you have one saying that you can point to the you do.

"Fine you gotta shake his hand he says are Del Cueto. Your Border Patrol. He wanted them and refuses those guys and he just just one of those guys and I'll tell you what scary from a law enforcement perspective. You have somebody act that way but you know my big issue has always been the second amendment issue so if you have individuals that are running for political office and they're going to turn around and one say one. I WANNA open borders. You know I don't care about you know border security issues like that. So that's a big issue. And then they add to the dilemma by saying. Oh by the way not only do. I want open borders and I wanNA allow criminals to come into that states but at the same time I want to disarm the American public so they have no chance of being able to defend themselves. When you put those two things together that is the most ideology you could ever think of. Yeah it is any and you know what he would not be on border patrol side. He would not be on America's side he would not be for border security. Obviously a wall. Anything you guys do at eight. Probably be a major thorn in the side so I mean let's say let's say Daniel doesn't beat Martha primary. I hope so I hope he does. I've said it I think Daniel you know he should but if he doesn't I have to hold my nose and vote for Martha because as bad as she is this mark. Kelly is a major danger to Arizona. Major danger to the country. This is the way we've seen it down. You know we've always talked about it at the end of the day. It's it's not about political parties. You know I've said it before it's it's about either. You Love America or you. Don't Mark Simple. That's what it comes down to be and when you're running for a position of leadership within politics.

The Dissonance Between Sanders and His Supporters
"Vermont senator Bernie Sanders seems to be cruising through the first few primary states and as he scoops of delegates for the nomination some Democrats are wondering how the democratic socialist at the top of the ticket might affect down ballot races could a nominee who is so far to the left hurt those running for Congress were more centrist especially when we're talking about congressional seats Democrats flipped in twenty eighteen to take back control of the house to talk about all this we're joined now by Dave Wasserman from the cook political report welcome thanks for having me so just describe for us the argument that moderate Democrats are making why do they say that they're worried about Sanders becoming the nominee in terms of how it could affect other races in November we're hearing pushback from variety of fronts on the democratic side there are members from South Florida who are uncomfortable with Sanders's comments on the Cuban regime there are more moderate pro business Democrats from upscale suburbs who believe that his argument for revolution just will not sell at a time when the economy is pretty good for the professional work force in this country and there are Democrats who believe that a seventy eight year old Vermont democratic socialist will just lose badly to trump and take the ticket nationwide I'm skeptical that he's going to have the dramatic down ballot implications for Democrats that Republicans say he will what kind of districts would you say are most at risk in twenty twenty and how might a Sanders nomination play in those districts so right now Republicans need to gain eighteen seats to win back the house majority the Democrats won in twenty eighteen and Democrats want a variety of of different kinds of districts in the mid terms they won some seats that were more blue collar and had voted for Obama in the path Austin voted for trump in twenty sixteen those included seats in Michigan and Iowa in northern Maine there are also the seats in the suburbs that traditionally were very Republican in the past and voted for Mitt Romney that have been trending blue Orange County California where Democrats picked up four districts you have north Jersey where there's no longer a single Republican in the house those are the kinds of places where Sanders might run weakest relative to Hillary Clinton and we're Democrats will need to spend money to make the case that there are different kind of Democrat that said tell me why you're skeptical about if it were a Sanders nomination that having a palpable effect down ballot Republicans are Getty right now because they believe the Sanders nomination could give them a chance to win back house control but there are a couple of reasons I would push back on that and be more cautious the first is that voters are likely to view Bernie Sanders as an independent political entity in twenty sixteen we noticed that voters distinguish Donald Trump from the Republican Party someone and so Republicans in districts where trump was unpopular actually performed okay Republicans held on to control of the house in twenty sixteen when trump was elected in part because a lot of voters went to the polls believing that Hillary Clinton was going to win the election and they wanted a check on president Clinton or so they thought if Bernie Sanders as the democratic nominee then there's a possibility that a lot of voters who are displeased with their choices between Sanders and trump would vote for a Democrat to continue having a check on president trump well at any rate it seems that some Republican candidates now are using a possible Sanders nomination in their ads I mean you know Democrats they want to take back the Senate in Arizona Republican senator Martha McSally has already released ads tying her democratic opponent the astronaut mark Kelly to Bernie Sanders before Sanders has even won the democratic

I Hey guys. Are you ready Sunny. Okay okay so let's start with you. Your family tree on my heritage actually goes back several hundred years it does it does it does build a family tree for you. In fact anyone who watches the show knows how important culture and Heritage Archie rarely so let's dive in and take a look at your mom's side of the foul my gun. He actually found around your grandfather's birth certificate. Your grandfather's Agusto beddis warranty. That's a picture of him GRANDPA. He's looking handsome. Is Your Mom's dead. He was born in actually never got the chance to meet him. He was born in nineteen fourteen at Kayak. What they fifteen eighteen and Guardia. I knew that you can go back to visit the home where he was born and we have been in records in one thousand nine hundred eighty four at age twenty twenty. He was actually working on a US steamship called the mill Nakal now he messed. That's the ship where he worked. He worked in the mess serving food. So I know that UH foods that you love to cook I do where it was ingrained in your DNA from your Grandpa who actually worked serving food on the ship. Wow Now we also have your dad's bad side okay. I think what who knows you also. Important Education is too right okay so from the nineteen hundred census we found on your father's side your great grandparents. Eugene and Kerry Germany now in the nineteen thirty cents is they were living in Georgia and it shows that they were living there with their seven children now no one in the home with seven and children having children at the time. They went on to have more now. Your grandparents did not read or write and none of the school aged. Children were enrolled in school at that time but then there was a big shift in your a family because ten years later at this point your GRANDPA. Freddie was born in the nineteen forty census. Freddie is enrolled in school as well as younger siblings so there was a change between nineteen two thirty nine hundred forty. Your great grandparents were finally able to start educating. Their children. Look at pretty interesting pretty cool stuff. That's been one thing about joy your Italian Joy Italian ninety two percent. You are value reminds us home. She makes the Great Italian Lasagna well. I think we know where that came came from now because both sides your family your mom's and Dad's side we're both from southern. Italy collaborate which I believe you know but I think there's some things in here that you might not have known okay. Let's start with your Dad's side now. Your grandparents were from Columbia as I said but then they decided to move to northern Italy they actually went to Torino which is where your dad was born right now when they got to. Torino things didn't turn turn out as expected back then. Sometimes northerners didn't exactly embrace the southerners a welcome with open arms still dome. They still doubt. Your Dad was born in Torino in the Shirley after your I found decided to emigrate to the US we actually found a photo of the ship that they came over on its the Duca deadly a see that's a photo of the ship and not only that we actually actually found the Ellis Island records which shows your dad. Dad's name is Luigi Right Okay Luis Severino okay on this it shows his name as Luigi from the Italian and he was a year old and that's the Lsi so I could become an Italian citizen yeah. I think that you probably by for it right but anyway. It's pretty cool to have that documentation. When you're died under the country's truth of the story I know a little something my grand my grandfather from Torino came to Brooklyn and left the family behind there and then liked it so much in Brooklyn. He said I'm not coming back. My Grandmother said if you don't come back I'm going to kill myself and all the children that story on your data and my father's father I said okay. I'm coming back and he went back to Torino got everybody and then moved to Brooklyn. That's what I'd grandmother was a drama Queen as you can yeah. I love that so I come from a family who come from. I don't know a lot of history so I think we have a photo. Actually of this is actually just one side my dad's side. I'm one of fifty fifty. Five cousins come from recuse family so it's no wire that your family tree on my heritage actually has one hundred fifty one people on it and it goes back eight generations. I put put the seven kids was allowed to be a mormon was like h adoration in fact. We found some pretty cool stuff. We actually found on your Dad's side. Hide your five times great grandfather ready. That's great great great great great grandfather. His name was Kayla. Hey and he was born in seventeen seventy eight and Duchess County New York. We found his great stone that has a photo of him on it. How cool is that. He's got some pretty impressive sideburns. I'm not sure if that'd gone yeah. It's upstate New York but then it's pretty cool because then we know that your family actually went to Utah Utah so then we find your great grandfather exactly there was a covered wagon on that gravestone. I don't know if you saw that anyway. Your great great grandfather his name was Hector Caleb so he was born in Utah in eighteen sixty nine and he was a member of one of the most prominent families that early settlers. We found a photo of him. That's him there that is your great great grandfather and your great great grandmother and Clara not a sense of humor that was not passed yeah that is amazing you able to find with my family with the seven kids what their occupations were because it would seem to me that they weren't educated educate because they were slaves. Well actually it's interesting because it does not say that they were slave. Were sharecroppers. They were most likely sharecroppers and of course it was very likely back then that sharecroppers we're not able to educate their children but between nineteen thirty one thousand nine hundred forty your family circumstances change and the children were able to enroll in school and at one point in one thousand nine hundred fifteen people living under the same roof in that house with Great Britain amazing thing now I was GonNa say here are thanks to our sponsor my heritage rich and members of the audience yes you are going home with a year long subscription and right now. "Mark Kelly is the US Navy combat veteran who made international headlines for his pioneering missions as an astronaut and for being the husband of former congresswoman an American icon Gabby giffords who who was almost killed during her time in office now mark is stepping into politics looking father's old. Senate seats these joining us here at the table to tell us why please welcome got mark in China. We actually talked on the phone and you told me when you were announcing announcing you are running for Senate and I thought it was so classy and completely unneeded. I really appreciate the gesture but I think auto people know your wife as well because she's obviously famous congresswoman from Arizona. Why did you decide to jump into politics and follow in her footsteps. I will be let me say you know like Your Dad. I flew off of aircraft carrier as well as a young pilot. I really looked up to them a lot and you know when we were you know in sear school. Which is where they teach you how to be you know if you wind up being a pow you know he was like the model of how you honorably go through an impossible situation so you know it's not often we get to meet our heroes and it was it's even less on cobb and that you get to call him a friend someday and I got to do that. You know so that's why felt strong. I need to reach out. Elections are important. I mean they really are and you know if I've seen the you know the direction of our country over the last several years you know I think I have something the offer you know. I'm somebody who cares about independence in about science and data and the facts and don't always see that from Washington DC and we've some serious serious issues that we're facing the state of Arizona and they're not often being addressed in politics have become so divisive and and I hope to be not influenced by an corporation or political party and I think this is an important time for our country captain. Your family's been through a lot house scabby. Doing Gabby is doing great. You know she's she. She obviously has been through a lot. I mean she nearly died that day and had a fight back. You know just to survive and through Rehab. She's in a great mood. She does a lot of things she rides her bike she every year she does the this bike ride called the toward. Tucson and she'll do either twenty five or forty miles just to prepare for it ahead of time. She's going to a new gym and she works. She works really hard. Just remind people who shot at a political event does it. You're stepping now into her line of work and as you see on the show every day the Times our tents politically. Does it give you pause to step into that line of work after what she's been through yeah sure I mean there's you know you always got to evaluate the risk and the reward and the reward for me personally. It's like what does this mean to the country. Can I make a difference. I've done risky things. In the past you know I flew in combat over Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. I flew the space shuttle four times. I understand there's yeah there's risk did turn out though that my wife. Gabby giffords is the one who had the risky job so so we get that and Gabby one hundred percent behind me doing this because it is important so reasons that I'm glad you're doing this because as an astronaut I can ask skew about climate change because I assume that New York up there at the mall and up in the sky and you're looking down and seeing stuff and do you remember seeing the changes that the planet was going through and how fast it was happening. What did you see right so you although I when you get in the space on your first flight a couple hours later you get out of your seat you can look down the planet earth for the first time big round owned. Let me say that again. Round all your floating. They're all seven and a half billion of us. We live live on an island in our solar system. Big No mistake you know we've got no place else to go and between my first flight and my fourth one who has a decade a sliver in anti and I saw some changes in this planet specifically with like deforestation especially over the Amazon but other rainforests and that's a lot of carbon that comes up into you know that's been released into our atmosphere and it's going to heat up the planet we you know we've got to figure out a way to get from fossil fuels to more renewable energy and I think we've got a decade or so to figure this out but we can't continue to ten years. Oh Captain Kelly recently the chair of the GOP party in Arizona Kelli Ward wrote this in a fundraising email and forgive me for repeating it but she wrote will stop gun grabber Mark Kelly dead in his tracks. What did you think when you read that well. It's uncalled for. I think we can all do a better job being careful with the language we use. It's very political. I think she had purpose behind saying that you know I think we can all do better than this. They think it's not there's no place for that in our political discourse but that's outside of my control as somebody. Who's you know an astronaut. I try to focus on things. I have control over and you know I can't control what other people say. Let me ask you something about the gun control because after your wife Jeff Gabby was shot on you. Both became advocates for gun control but you're both gone under owners still What did you think of Beto or rock saying. We're going to buy back your guns. We want to take your guns rifles the Ar fifteen those those big rifles. Would you think of that well. I'm a gun owner. I'd probably own more guns than your average Arizona. You know I'm a strong supporter laugh about ten different things you know how to use I do. I firearms the One my dad gave me while I was in flight school. It's the gun I flew in combat with over Iraq. You know there are very common sense the things we can do that most Americans support most arizonans support like background checks for all gun sales red flag loss. You know stronger domestic violence legislation flation. This issue often affects men and women differently and I think we should focus on those things so you don't really agree with Beto not on at that point you okay Captain Kelly. What's fascinating to me as a obviously lifelong Arizona Arizona could turn blue this election cycle. If you win a Christianson tomorrow other senator is Democrat. She's she's very moderate and I have been very pleasantly surprised by the way she's governed but the DNC and Arizona's Arizona's China's central her because they don't think that she is basically liberal enough you are also. I think a moderate reasonable Democrat do you worry about the DMZ in Arizona. Having the same impression of you will always worry about both political parties trying to make sure that the person selected that they vote with them on every single thing. I think independence is so important independence from the political party speaking Abbey's thank you I'm alone on this but they're I call them like the silent majority out there as AFC calls us were Ma- Nah but we actually believe very strongly in our beliefs they just might not be one extreme or the other that's right. I think that's important so I didn't think that was appropriate thing to do would actually didn't happen. Um Yeah it didn't happen but what what is happening. Perhaps is we hear. The topic of the day is What about impeachment we. We heard Nancy Pelosi finally saying we're going to open up an official inquiry your take well before. I went into the Navy I soar an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States president. Did that as well you know. I don't think it's a good idea to be having a conversation with a foreign leader about your political opponent is is it high crime or misdemeanor well. I think the rule of law is very important. I think the rule of law holds our democracy together so I think it's I think it's serious. It should be investigated gated. I think this is going to take some time. What Did NASA's Twin Study Find?

Have you ever wondered exactly what happens to the human body when it's suspended in space for extended period of time based on Hollywood, productions alone men and women who navigate the galaxy always seemed to be just fine when they land back on earth. But our astronauts so lucky in reality NASA has made it its mission to find out in a landmark DNA study published an April twenty nineteen issue of the journal science researchers from John Hopkins Stanford and other institutions revealed after a year in space astronaut, Scott Kelly, experienced, no, major long-term differences to his EPA genome compared with that of his twin brother current, Arizona. Senate candidate Mark Kelly hoop stayed firmly planted here on earth, your EPA genome is all of the chemical compounds that attached to your DNA and changed the way it functions. So no major differences, hypothetically, a good thing. Here's the deal with putting your body in space. It exposes you to harmful ultraviolet rays radiation, limited food and exercise lower gravity disrupted, sleep cycles, and an unknown number of other potential hazards. And while scientists have spent decades studying the effects of space travel on astronauts, most of these men and women have travelled on missions that max out at six months in order to travel somewhere like say Mars missions needs to be much longer. And scientists say it's critical to understand the effects that these super extended missions could have on the human body. Let's talk more about how your EPA genome works. Your DNA is your genome. It's the genetic code tells every cell in your body how to build different proteins which determines how those cells function your EPA genome is any chemical modifications to your DNA these modifications don't change your actual DNA sequence. But they can change how your cells us the instructions that your DNA gives them. So these tiny chemical alterations can have a major impact on a person's health by influencing the way their genes are expressed they can switch jeans from onto off and vice versa. A major advantage of this new research is the fact that it studies identical twins who naturally have identical genetic material. But while the study subjects offer a rare and unique glimpse into the potential for long term genetic changes in space. The researchers are quick to admit that they're tiny sample size means more testing is essential with only to study subjects. They can't be sure that any changes are due to space travel more research with other astronauts needs to be. Done. The methodology for the study involved collecting blood samples physiological data in cognitive measurements. From each Kelly twin at various points over twenty seven month period before during and after Scott's one year space mission if you're wondering how in the world or universe? Scott samples reached scientists from space they were transported via rockets. In the future. Scientists hope to process and store samples on board the international space station itself. But for the purposes of this study samples were rocketed back to earth and processed within forty eight hours. Then the research team examined to the brothers genomes looking for genetic changes, specifically focusing on two types of white blood cells and examining process called methylated, which occurs when chemical compounds called methyl groups are added onto DNA generally speaking, there were just about as many EPA genetic changes in Scott as there were in his twin. The biggest difference was observed nine months into Scott space mission. When just seventy nine percent of his DNA was methylated compared to eighty three percent of Mark's DNA the locations methylation were different in both men. Scott's Beth leash appeared near genes involved with a municipal response, which the researchers believe correlates with additional data that found that Scott had increased markers associated with inflammation, which is a potential red flag. But again bears further study to determine whether this difference was really caused by Scots location in space. Oh, though, one other weird thing that definitely did happen to Scott in space the shape of one of his eyeballs changed by the time. He got back to earth his retinal nerve and the foles in the layer that surrounds, the I thicker, researchers think this could have to do with prolonged exposure to low gravity another thing to watch out for in the future for sure. NASA twins study shows how space changes the human body
"Time apparently a year in space causes significant changes to the human body. The good news though, according. To nasa. The body does normalize within months of returning to earth. That's the conclusion of a years long study of twin astronaut, Scott and Mark Kelly, which revealed significant genetic and behavioral changes between the two of their Scott Kelly spent a year on board, the international space station. Dr Andrew Feinberg is with Johns Hopkins University long-term out six months, see a change in those categories jeans, and we pretty good indicator of your genomic. Epidemic.
