"I don't wanna see a bunch of people in a room in an office deciding. Oh well who who. Television networks one. Oh the television networks one bam versus georgia the television networks want osu versus clemson the television networks. What lsu versus oklahoma. I don't this is one of my biggest pet peeves with called football. In general i hate how some of these teams who deserve a shot. Some of the teams like ucf. Some of these teams like cincinnati. Some of these teams like boise state's who are smaller town schools. Who have just as good as record as these big time schools. Don't get a shot to go into the playoffs but with this college. Football playoff expanding and with twelve team playoff. I think that there's a slight chance that we may be able to see some cinderella sneak in and knock off top guy atop team but if i honestly have to make an opinion and have to make judgment on. Is it business as usual for college football. I think it is because yeah you can have some great matchups between five and a twelve between a eight and nine matchup but honestly if looking at the college football playoff it's going to be business as usual just because of recruiting and just because of the talent on the field. I think it's going to be business as usual. We're gonna see the same four teams until these other teams and these other schools. Get their head right and until they can knock these teams off. I don't think we're going to be seen anything else than obama. Clemson o issue oklahoma. Lsu georgia and maybe texas aim them in the playoffs within the next couple of years. I just don't think that all these teams have a chance and have the ability to knock these guys at the top. I mean i believe when. I see it but it just doesn't seem like it's going to happen. And you know what that i would love to see the drama in the college football playoff when it comes to obama got knocked off by coastal keller carolina or oklahoma got knocked off by texting in. I would love to see that match up in the playoffs. And i think we're gonna see it later on down the road. We're not gonna see it in the incoming furniture and that kind of frustrates me because it kind of sets me off that you know we're gonna watch the same old thing over and over again and it's kinda like when you watch a movie over and over game you've seen it million times and you just like teen before i'm going to turn it off. It's like for me for me. That movie probably the dark night. I've seen the dark knight. Probably seven eight nine times over and over again and don't get me wrong. It's a great movie but you've seen it you've seen a million times you kind of want something new and that's what i want with college football. I want a new storyline. I want new teams new blood. That's what i love about college basketball. I love about college basketball. You have new teens new blood. You have no idea who's going to win march madness. Who's going to win that tournament in march. That would so great about it. You have the under dog. The story of the underdog is so great in college. Athletics one day. The underdog can just beat the top team. You can have magical stories magical runs but in college football. I don't see that happening. I really don't because there is a lack of diversity especially at the top and it's hard to get the top but there at the top for reason because they're recruiting better than everybody else and they're getting all the product and all the players that everybody wants to their schools so if you're if you're whining you're crying about. Oh there's a lack of diversity there's a lack of teams at the top and there's the same for teams at the top over and over again. Well my thing is if you really wanna be there go knock them off. Go play them and go try to beat them because there's a reason they are at the top of their industry. There's a reason we see. Bama clemson ohio state and oklahoma every single year in the college football playoff and we see other teams like boise state like ucf coastal carolina on the outside looking in. Go play those teams in the regular season or in the postseason and try to knock them off. I have this. I don't like this idea that you have to play. Certain people like cupcakes just to pad your stats and just a pad your strength scheduled and just pad. You're winning percentage people this this college. Football playoff is kind of interesting to me because people don't like to have a team who has won loss or two losses. People generally like undefeated teams and. Yeah if you're undefeated you should be able to play in the playoffs. You should be able to throw your hat in the ring and say. Hey we're the best team or or one of the best teams in college football. But i have a put a over a team who has two losses against the best teams in the land. The best team against college football say you lost obama by one saying lots of clemson by two so you beat ohio state. But i'll put those teams up before a team who goes undefeated. Who doesn't play anybody who is in like the mountain west or the eight a and who's undefeated who hasn't played anybody yet but back to my question is called football business as usual. Yes it is and honestly it's going to be like that for a while because someone's got a knock these guys off and on sweet. I don't see it happening anytime soon. So that's all the time got for today. Big shoutout and special. Thanks to my man. Mark willard from came six. Eighty a really appreciate him talking to us and coming on the podcast really appreciate it and go check him out. "Mark for today at really hope. Y'all enjoyed that conversation. We had we talked a lot about the nfl. We talked about training camp stories. We talked a lot about the nfl. And how it's going to be impacted. And how the seventeen game season is going to be different and what we're looking forward to. We've gone to some college football. I just hope y'all really enjoyed that. I had a great time talking to him. He's a really great follow and he. He noticed sports he knows his stuff and it just it is great to see a sensical man. Essential guide the sports world. Who doesn't need to make these big outlandish takes an who doesn't need to offend anybody while producing great content. So if you wanna wanna here more mark willard go check in pout. I'm kmby six eighty and follow him on twitter at mark. Underscore t- underscored willard. He's great follow. He produces a lot of good content and has led a great people up there on his podcast and he does a lot of great things around the bay area and around the sports world so really hope. You enjoyed that as much as i did now. Getting back to. What we teased about in the previous segments is college football getting back to a stage where we can see an improvement or going to be business as usual for college football. And how is the name image likeness going to affect college football in the future. We're going to dive into that and everything else called football right now. Let's get into it so we all know that. The twelve team playoff it's great. It's a great idea but we all know that it's probably not going to happen. Within the next couple of years. Were still gonna get the fourteen playoff next year in college football and were probably not gonna see the twelve team playoff within probably the next three to four years and obviously it's disappointing to see that you know what they they're basically dangling this in front of our fat in front of our face kinda feel like a cat playing with humid right now. I kind of feel like college. Football and the playoff committee is just dangling this twelve team playoff in front of face him. We can't really get it and we're gonna get eventually but it's kind of like they're just twain with us. I kind of feel like a luke. You ever tweet with your cat or your animal or child with a little red light be like hey. This is what's happening. Try to catch it over here. Nope it's over here. You're too slow. That's how i feel with the college football and the playoff in the committee now won't when we get to that eventual twelve team playoff. Will it be business as usual. Now when i mean by that will we have saint for teams in the final four or wool. There'll be some diversity within the teams wore. They'll be some shakeups because right now. I'm looking at the coast football landscape. Now i'm looking at four teams only who has been dominating. The college football landscape alabama clemson allows state and oklahoma. Now i say that they've been dominating but just look at the facts. Look at the facts and look at the stats because numbers. Don't lie and these numbers are kind of i opening now. Those four teams one dish mentioned alabama. Clemson those who and will how state they have twenty two conference championships between them. Since two thousand fourteen. That is crazy. His shows the longevity of their domination within college football and even crazier stat. Is that twenty of the past. Twenty eight called football spots called football playoff spots. There's been twenty eight twenty of them have gone to those four clubs. That's crazy that is just just shows that there is a hierarchy in college football and it seemed like those four teams and everybody else are the rest seems like those four teams are just so dominant and it's clearly. It's clearly the reason why these players and these people who are watching college football right now are getting bored. I don't know about you. But i'm getting bored of saint fort teams playing in the college football playoff. I'm getting bored of watching. Every year bama versus clemson clinton versus georgia bam versus you oklahoma versus clubs in oklahoma versus. Bama i'm tired of those teams. I wanna see some new blood but you know what it doesn't seem like there's any new blood coming because if you haven't heard seventeen of the last twenty one victories in the college football playoff in those playoff games are between alabama clemson ohio state and oklahoma. So is it business as usual for college football. I think it is. I think it is. But there's some interesting teams. That can't surprise us and i think that there's gonna be some teams out there that not many people realize that can surprise people but will be surprising. M super intrigued. Now if you haven't if you're a college football fan and if you don't know this name yet you need to know the name phil steele. I call him but call for ball guru go. Check him out and his book. Go check out. Bill still on twitter and go check out his magazine featuring the called football landscape and the twenty twenty one season he is a bunch of great tidbits. Bunch of great information on every team. We're talking power five conferences. We're talking made major conferences. We're talking about all the conferences in your local area. Go check them out. Go check his magazine up now. He has some surprises for this year. That shouldn't be overlooked. And i actually agree with him. I agree with some of the surprises. He has some some teams that he thinks. That can't be surprising..

"Go win That i'm gonna flex my boss oil. I'm going to hold off the speech out and it's gonna work is didn't used to work But it's working now again. Because of the plop these guys out of the size up them so the air is just endlessly intriguing to see what they do at and the packers have no one to blame but themselves because they use the first drive yukata quarterback when they did not need to do that. And ed sent a message and set a tone right away better now now boomerang facts at is bidding them up and so there's still a lot of ways this can go john follow so i'm not tired of it at all. No you're you're exactly right. I i loved what you said there. The the players right now hold all the power and we like to think the nfl teams and the owners. They hold all the power. No not right now not in this situation so yeah i mean we can. I can say i'm tired about it. I can say. I just want this to be over but you bring up a great point. This probably won't be over for a long time. This is probably gonna go into training camp which is two weeks away which is crazy to me. It just belt just felt like. I watched tom brady when his seventh super bowl in tampa bay last year like probably three days ago. And it's crazy. How time flies. It really is does the base. John's of being top of mind year round. And stuff. like this sneaks up on us and a better out get your fantasy football bath..

"All the people were like. What earth is this. Well magic as tom a really really good friends. There's a professional and a personal respect there. But believe you me made not ball at up there was not monte were like oh my gosh. They're fairly light. They wanted to rip each other's basketball heads off and so for that perspective. It does bother me. Because i think i think there's always something kind of beneath the surface Whenever people are friendly doubt that the ready to compete. And i have issues cal. Shanahan sean mcvay and how much they both want. The nfc watched this year. Yeah no. I feel like a lot of people who would talk to you about it when i feel like a lot of people who call into your show have that same view of you know. It's a different time. It's a different era. People are more friendly. People are more respectful. And that doesn't mean. I completely agree with you. It doesn't mean that even though they want to beat each other as badly as they do on the field of play they can still be respectful outside of the field play and they can still have that equal respective. Okay all right. We can acknowledge that we're competing for championships but we can still be respectful at the same time. That's another great point. I never really thought of that. But that's a great point. So yeah i mean it is. It's it's different. It's different Takes always circuit of getting used to But yeah i database as.

"Seems like everybody wants to put their two cents in for this sock and honestly it's kind of like high school school all over again. We remember those great times in high school. We had a will they won't they. Oh what he say about me. What did she say about me. All i really respect what they said about me. We all we all been through it. Those are some of the best four years of our lives right wrong wrong but when it comes to the aaron rodgers saga adam. Schefter came on the chris. Collins were podcast and they actually talked it out. They talked out. What a divorce for aaron rodgers would be like from the green bay packers now meet. Nobody likes divorce. Nobody likes divorce. It's not a great time in those people's lives. It's not great to admit you're wrong. It's not great. Nobody wants to admit they're wrong. Nobody wants to admit they messed up. But it's a part of life it's a part of reality and sometimes you detect to suck it up and say you know what it was a great run but there's some things we just can't come back from and honestly. I think that there's some things that happened within the aaron rodgers saga between the green bay. Packers and him that they just can't come back from now. Adam schefter said you know what you have to tell me that there's gonna be some people dragged through the mud. I'm going to say some things that you know what i loved being here but i think it's time and i want to move on so chris collins Played a big role in this where he was. Brian could account for the packers. Gm and honestly a lotta divorces they get messy they get messy because of ill will and because of feelings and because of bad intentions and i think i think that this is gonna get messy in a hurry. It's gonna get messy because a they don't wanna let this guy go. He signed a major contract negotiation. But he said it's not about the money he said it's not about the money it's about what happened on the field and it's about how they treated him and how they're not treating him and how they're giving him a lack of respect because that's all he wants all he wants us to be respected and you know what that's all anybody wants but this situation. They're not respecting him. I'm on the side of aaron rodgers. I'm on the side of aaron rodgers right now in this saga. You know how you have those when somebody when two people split up and you have to pick sides after shoes is of. Oh if you're a friend of theirs and your friends there's whose side you're going to pick like. Yeah i'm going jimmy and that joe lean yet. I'm gonna go with aaron rodgers in the saga and not the green bay packers. I'm pro player in this saga. And honestly what he's been showing and what the green bay packers have shown him in return. I think he's right. He's right because not only. Did they draft quarterback in the first round in two thousand eighteen nineteen love. Not only do. They try to draft replacement but they didn't help them out. How can you tell me. Somebody's willing to say if you don't put the effort in no-one. People relationships are two way street. Relationships are a two way street. You give what you get out you get out what you give you have to put in the effort and they will have to put in the effort. There's a there's a struggle between effort. The packers are not putting in the effort. That aaron rodgers want them to. And you know what it's gonna get ugly. It's gonna get ugly. And you know what i'm just going to be sitting here my popcorn waiting for them to get ugly because honestly there's michael in two ways he's going to have to retire or he's gonna get traded. 'cause i don't see him being able to suit up for the packers one more time with everything that's went on with his organization over this offseason. I just don't see it and you what it's going to be interesting and we're going to be talking about this from weeks and months and maybe years down the line about this situation because it's going to be a major storyline within the nfl that affects the dynamic in the hierarchy in the nfl. For years to come. And i'm just excited and obviously i'm kind of over everything right now. And i just wanted to come to fruition. I just do just get it. All out the open and let-bygones-be-bygones and just move on because we've been talking about this for ever and i just wanted to be over that just me. Don't coming up on the other side. We got a great conversation with special guest. Mark willard who covers everything. Bay area for kmby are six eighty up in san francisco. It's going to be a great conversation. And i really hope you're looking forward to this. And there's gonna be some great nuggets in there. And i just hope y'all enjoy the conversation so we're going to get into that and more coming up on the other side. Rip off the knob and stay tuned..

"If your weekend warrior salute to you but just thanks for tuning in. We really appreciated now in previous segments. We talked a lot about the blemishes. On the nfl routinely with the frank clock saga and that storyline and with the rigid during richard sherman. Store line coming out to life when with the domestic violence and the burglary accusations situation and that just one of the many storylines in the nfl that we've seen in previous years with domestic violence and with players undergoing that you know what they they're trying to get out of their heads and they just think that. Because i play football for living a child sport the guys i played professional football for a living. I can get away with that. No that thinking is totally wrong and totally not right and not suitable and if you think that your mindset needs to be changed or you need to see a therapist something like that but at mentioned before like teeth before the break we're going to get into the new. Nfl win loss totals. Because there's some interesting things that you can take and you can decipher from those totals. That vegas things what will happen with some of these teams and there's some interesting teams up there. That vegas has all the way at the top. So we're gonna get into that and we're going to get into more of the lists and the espn jeremy fowler will put out his best. Rb's twenty twenty one season and his best wideouts for the twenty twenty one season in the nfl. And we're gonna get into that because there's some names on there aren't really surprising but there are few surprises. Names up there. And we're also getting into more of the aaron rodgers soggy and adam schefter ner the guru at espn had to say about him. And what chris collins are concord played out on their podcast and they said something really intriguing. That i think a lot of people around the nfl would to love a needs to hear because there may be a ending insight and the saga. So we're getting into a lot and all that coming up right now. So let's get straight into shall we. Now i've always believed as a sports fan that vegas knows. All vegas is very wise and honestly you can trust vegas now. Sometimes they make blunders here and there but you can trust vegas in. You will always understand that other people will tell you what they really think about you. And by what the content says and by their actions now like i mentioned before in previous segments in in previous episodes you can tell a lot not by persons mortar mouth not by. They're not by the words but by their actions and what they really think that can happen in the future and it goes with vegas odds you can tell a lot about what vegas thinks of. Your team of vegas thinks you're a bad team. They're going to give you low win. Totals in vegas thinks you're a good team. They're going to give you a high wintel. It just simple as that. So we're gonna get into some of the interesting twenty twenty one win totals for this year because there are some interesting teams up there that had pretty low seasons. We're talking about pretty bad seasons that have high windows so the win totals. That are kind of surprising to me that vegas things will happen is. We're starting with the lower end. So vegas things the lions the texans and the jaguars and the jets will all be pretty low. When it comes to the totem pole they will be pretty inconsistent and they'd probably going to be bad teams so they're giving the lines five winds. They're giving texans five wins and honestly i might take lines under texans under and they're given jaguars six wins in the jets. Six wins hammer the under on all four of these. Because i'm not sure that these teams have enough talent in the nfl right now. We don't know what we don't know what's going to be like in detroit. They just launched matthew stafford. they have jared goff. I'm not sure how he's going to develop. We don't know of to shawn watson is going to be houston texan ever again. We don't know if he's going to be in the league ever again. Because of the blemish he had and the situation he has with the domestic violence and the sexual abuse when it comes to that situation and him with all these massage therapist coming out. I believe it was twenty five or twenty so there are a lot of bad storylines around those teams. That are not great when it comes to talking about football and talking about actual football field now one interesting stat line and went interesting win. Total that i see on this is the cincinnati bengals. They have the cincinnati bengals. Add six point. Five wins honestly. I might bend deal from that. I might bet the over on that because they have a lot of good talent. Now i know they're in the afc north they have to combine and compete with the pittsburgh. Steelers that compete with the baltimore ravens and everyone's favourite darling from last year. The cleveland browns. But if i look at their schedule right now i think they have a better roster overawe then at least seven of the teams. They play out of out of conference. So i'm not sure that six point five wins is enough. I might see them at like seven seven point five. Maybe they can get to a maybe. But i'm not sure some other interesting teams. There's a vegas has a really interesting squad. Now you have. Las vegas raiders with derek. Carr you have the addition of henry rugs and you have that edition of the great three hundred. Monsour running back in josh checkups. That's interesting three headed monster on offense that to entertain trio and honestly people don't realize but checkups over the last few seasons only two players have broken more tackles than josh jacobs. Can you name.

vegas nfl richard sherman jeremy fowler football espn chris collins adam schefter aaron rodgers jaguars jets jared goff shawn watson cincinnati bengals texans matthew stafford lions detroit houston baltimore ravens

"I own is jersey. I'm a. I'm a forty niners fan. I live in the bay area. I own his vintage white. Nineteen eighty-four jersey. And if i'm thinking right now if he's guilty. This doesn't look good if i'm wearing his jersey on my back it just doesn't now when player gets arrested. Usually two things that happens. All the information comes out and be. He usually gets a call or calls agent immediately and his agent dropped anything and everything. So it's interesting to see how situation is going to vary and how the situation going to play out because a this situation it's a real life situation. We see domestic violence crimes every single day. And we've seen a more and more throughout the nfl. Now what makes of domestic violence crime so he was booked in seattle and they say in seattle most violent crimes can also be domestic violence offenses if certain criteria are met so the law states that the crime may be domestic violence if it occurs against one family or household member by another family or household member this can be for example spouses ex-spouses involved two people in a relationship in a romantic relationship who are dating children and parents and more people involved now in these situations the state will often be left to decide whether or not the crime should be committed or considered domestic violence now. Domestic violence burglary situation. The offender is usually accused of entering or refusing to leave a house business vehicle or other dwelling areas now. I agree fences. They're usually accused of committing acts of violence or carrying a deadly weapon. Such as a knife or firearm. And now to me. It's not a good look for rigid chairman. It is not but before people start slandering him before people start dragging his name through the mud on twitter on instagram on social media. We need to realize that a these people are human beings. Just like you and me. They make mistakes. They go through hard times. It's probably a hard time through his life right now. It's going to be a difficult next couple of months for richard sherman but just let him be in peace. Let him work this out between his family between the courts between the lawyers and don't slander him based off misinformation and based off knowledge that you get from click big articles on social media. Just remember. I have to say right now. The last thing. I'll say on this is you are innocent in a court of law until proven guilty all add to say now coming up on the other side. We're going to get into what. I was talking about earlier with the nfl win loss totals. Is it business as usual for college. Football and more of the list shots fired. And what adam schefter had to say about aaron rodgers plus we also got special guest. Mark willard of came. Vr six eighty joining the podcast today. And he's going to be talking about college football. Nfl in the forty niners and a lot more. And you're not gonna wanna miss that conversation that's probably going to be the third segment so stick around for that and if you're excited for football to be back. We got training camp in less than two weeks away. Get excited people if you're excited for the nfl to be back. If you're excited to get out to the stadium finally in watch these games in person live. "Thank you for joining us on this friday edition of the show recording this earlier. But this is being held on the friday of july sixteenth. Or whenever you're hearing this podcast just thank you for listening and we really appreciate everything you do. When it comes to the comments the the great nice comments and of the feedback we get. We really appreciate it okay. Now there's a lot to talk about and the football world. We got trained camping probably less than two weeks. We're gonna talk a lot about the. Nfl win loss totals. We're going to talk about how it's business as usual for college football there's more list out with. Espn in the nfl. They also ranked their best running backs. In the bank best wide receivers according to espn jerry. Fowler for the twenty twenty. One season and i got i got some bone. Speak with that. Because there's some people off that list who are not on that list and who needs to be more recognized. We got more another edition of shots. Fired the afc west edition. We got adam. Schefter said about air. Rogers and his saga ross are going to have a very special guest. We're gonna have a great guest. His name is mark willard. He covers everything area for came six. Eighty up in san francisco. We're gonna talk a lot about the nfl. We're gonna talk by the forty niners emc west and we're also going to talk about some college football and the name image likeness and that whole saga and that's gonna be a great conversation. It's probably gonna come out and probably the third segment so you're gonna stick around for that. He's got a lot of great things to say and we also are gonna talk about another blemish on the nfl so recording this a little bit earlier than the state. But this is the friday edition the july sixteenth. Twenty twenty one edition of the podcast. I'm brian iglesia. Thanks for joining me today. Now let's get straight into shali. Okay now i know all of you have heard the news about the nother blemish. That is on the nfl's record now. I don't want to be talking about this. I really don't want to be talking about pets right now. But it's news. It's the most recent news we have right now. So we're going be getting it. I would much rather be talking about the. Nfl wind and lost totals. That baggage is put out or how it's business as usual for college. Football or the new list of the top running backs and top wide receivers in the nfl gordon espn but there's another blemish on the nfl and you know what it's it hurts. It hurts talk about this because not only is he a west coast guy and i love all the west coast guys but for me personally. I have his jersey in my in my locker in my room right now. I have a jersey hanging up in my closet and it just hurts. It hurts deep down now for those. Who don't know free agent. Richard sherman free agent. Cornerback was booked at six await this morning to lie fourteenth at the seattle correctional facility for burglary in domestic violence per county public records. Sherman was denied. Bail while i is this just. I didn't expect to hear this today. I did not expect to hear this kind of news. I don't want to be talking about this. And i know a lot of people don't want to be talking about this but it is news that is noteworthy now. Washington state police are also investigating. Richard sherman in connection to a hit and run in a damaged state department of transportation property state. Police say that at about one a. m. pacific time. There seemed a report of a single car accident. Now when i see that when i hear tweets like that from adam schefter i'm thinking maybe some drunk driving was involved. I don't know but adam schefter tweeted. A car struck a concrete barrier. Now that this these stories now in media and news you all have the you have great stories. Everybody wants to hear but you also have stories. That really are really disheartening. And it's sad. Because i don't like to see nfl players like this. I don't like to see. Nfl players charged on felonies in booked in jail. But you know what it's the world we live in. It's the world we live in an i. Don't wanna be talking about this right now. I wish i wasn't talking about this. I wish i was talking about another addition of shots fired. Or i wish i was talking about what adam schefter had to say about an rogers and his saga. And don't get me wrong. We're going to talk all about what i stated and we're going to get into the nfl and windows. But i have just a feeling of obligation. I have a feeling obligation to talk about this now when it comes to the richard sherman slander. If you're on social media if you're on instagram facebook snapchat twitter tick talk. There's a lot of slammed or going around right now about richard sherman and his situation. 'cause that's all it is. It's a situation and you know what the slander needs to chill. Let the facts come in before you jump to conclusion. Because of misleading headline on social media a lot of people are confused. A lot of people are frustrated. And a lot of people around richard sherman's family and camp are going through a time. That is very difficult help. We've all been through time. That is difficult in our lives once in a while. Everything just doesn't seem right to me now. I know i've been rooting for this guy. When he was with the niners. I rooted against this guy when he was with the seahawks and it. situation just doesn't seem right to me. It doesn't seem doesn't seem like it's real for me at least now..

"But they must have a deal in place where they do not want him getting hurt and then having to eat this deal, and it indirectly does affect you know the hardened deal because of the three team deal and Jared Allen wound up in Cleveland, and that's why they want to move on from Drummond. But I don't know exactly Point Draymond was making except he was, I think, overreacting to social media and what people say on social media, and I'm not sure why His comments are related just to the N B. A. He may not follow the other sports, but It's like that in all of American sports chat. I think it's like that in sports. I think that it's like that in business. I mean, the company always Has a way of coming out on top and like you said, And look, I know he's saying a bigger picture item then specifically Drummond because in Drummond situation, and there was a guy in this morning that I heard with Murph in Mac. Who covers the calves for the athletic and essential what he said is it's young basketball team. Drummond didn't want to play along. You had a bad attitude. He admitted that he had a bad attitude. Hey, didn't want to come off the bench, and so they came to an agreement that They would trade him And as you said, they're going to protect the asset because he gets hurt. Then they can't make the trade. So I understand what he's saying on a larger scale but to go back to something that That Marcus said. Look, you're you're highly compensated in a highly volatile situation where you could be traded in any point, and it's unfair and we've talked to guys all about it. You know, I think Kevin Pilar for years ago when he was on the Giants, all the sudden he thinks he's you know he's in Canada, and he's with his wife, and also he gets driving. That's just part of the whole deal. But you're highly compensated for it, and it's hard for people especially what's going on in our country right now. $25 million player and Draymond Green talking about $27 million player and Andre Drummond and how they're mistreated. That's that's difficult for people to stomach right now. That's a whole different argument. I don't get into that that this is the world they live in. And I you know, then There is a personal services contract. So it is a weird way to work and I would never enter into a contract with my employer would have the right to just, you know, have me and my family move. It's a different world. Outside. That's why reference. Marvin Miller is going to go in the Baseball Hall of Fame this year, and he executed, you know perfectly and he was a labor lawyer before he became a head of the Players Association. But Curt Flood is from the Bay Area, and I think he He was a scapegoat after that, and it really stands back to the 68 world. Syria's took a terrible rot on the ball in a cost. They Cardinals. Uh uh. Game that they want up losing. They traded him and he just didn't. He wasn't gonna go. He said. I'm not going to Philadelphia and he got scapegoated. And that was the end of his career. And that opened it up for the mess. They, Mr Smith, the ruling and All of that and free agency. But beyond that, What does that ever been challenged before? Where you just refused to go. If you are, it's a personal services contract in the way you have to look at it is you're signing on. The that specific team in this tape case that the Cleveland Cavaliers on your contract, but really, it's the whole league. That owns the contract, and they've set up a system where they can trade contracts and trade players. Now, if you put a no trade clause in there like athletes have done then you can block that or least get compensation for it. But I don't know what except, you know, Trey. Mom was getting ready for Andre drama in the scout and he wound up now playing in the game, and it set him off. But I don't know. I don't know exactly what he was looking to get off his chest about this league. Because that's the set up. That's the way American sports is set up right now. It's not just the MBA. Into me, and he was He was vocal before he started on the on the TNT. But I think that he's become much more vocal ever since he had the trial on it, Whatever you want to call it. I know that his post career is pretty much said if he wants to. I don't know if he's gonna replace Charles Barkley or beyond that, if you look He's become the voice of the MBA and a lot of ways in some of these issues. So maybe that's what he feels he needs to do. I don't know, but I think at least to me he's been a lot more vocal since he's been since he was on TNT last year. He's always been vocal, but I hear you. I don't know He may be thinking more because he's around next players, and I don't know, you know that Devin Booker line did get him in trouble. But you know that was a shot at the Phoenix Suns and their ownership and now look at Phoenix and they got Chris Paul and they're arguably a better team. The Warriors are right now, certainly minus Clay Thompson, so I just don't know what point he made. And what's interesting is he got up when he left. I mean, he's opens this range talking point. And then Draymond is wonder. Go back and forth and have an open dialogue just to make a speech like that. Then drop the mic and walk off. Whoa! I got like, eight questions. I wanna ask you what you talking about here. So I don't know. You know, I think he just doesn't follow the other sports as much. But I don't think that's exclusive to the N B. A. I mean, you could make that point and it always professional sports league. It's the way they they've been set up. Give us your thoughts. Text line is wide open bottom of the hour. Kerry Crowley's going to join us. We're gonna get our first dive deep into the Giants. He is live in Scottsdale, so we'll get his thoughts on that. "It went some fascinating and amazing ways and frustrating ways all the same time. So I don't know. I don't know what the future holds for Patrick Mahomes. But if he wins this game by double digits, the whole league suddenly dedicates itself to how do we beat Mahomes? Does that change the way you look at your quarterback? Does it change the way you look at your defense? Because while everyone scrambling for quarterbacks understand none of them will ever be on the field at the same time is Patrick Mahomes. None of them, not one of them ever. So Is that how you stop Patrick Mahomes? Getting somebody else who scores 40 when he scores 38 I don't know. Maybe I mean Eve from last night made that comment when he said you put to Sean and Kyle Shanahan together. That's Super Bowl. I said, What about Andy and Patrick? Which combos better, he said, did Sean and Kyle Which brings me back to my original point this evening about College, Shanahan. Inside the game. There's nobody you will ever find. Who doesn't think Kyle is tremendous? Great Coach. Great play caller. Great communicator. Everything. Inside the game. Same way people inside baseball feel about far anxiety. That is just a fact. "Let's get stuck with all right before you get on out of here. We welcome in Mark Willard, find out what he has going on from six and tell 10. Right here in the sports center. What is going on Mark? You know their stuff. There's stuff happening all the time. And I'm here for it. So so, yeah, that Z. Yeah. Thank you. Hi. So that's what's going on. What's going on with you? Wow, e don't know where to go with that. I mean, yeah. It's kind of hoping you might be already did today, Tommy, I got ready for you. I got ready for you. He did big time range session today. Okay? And I don't. I don't do that very often. I'm not a range guy, because I just the Miss shots are too easy to blow off. So it's not like I don't never really feel like I'm achieving anything. But have you ever had this happen? Pulled the driver out over the weekend took they took the cover off. Thank huge, like half inch dent in the top of the driver like the top. You're using it wrong. Yo, Right. What, like hey, what? Left handed drunk, stole my driver and then put it back in my bag like Zero clue how it happened. On bond. So anyway, I'm like I'm texting my guy. You guys know Aaron Oberholser. I text him a picture. I'm like, hey, is this could affect the way that this driver connects with the ball. He's like, probably Tried to grab my old driver, and then we did a big side by side comparison today to see if a the old one still if I could still hit it, and then B is the newer one. Dust. And so it was a pretty intense range session. What happened? Do we have any idea what happened? So we have all clear brush? Where do you store your clubs? No, like I storm there, either in the garage or in the trunk of my car at all times. And they were and like I used him and then brought him back out and this had happened. Like meaning. There was a cover on it when this happened, which is like what? So I don't know. There was some serious trauma that you know what that means. I mean, somebody needs a new driver. That's right. That's right. Maybe yeah, There's something I figured it out. I think I know what happened. What happened? You're throwing us off the saint. You did it yourself. Now you're getting the story out there And then you can get permission to go out and get a new driver. Just like you got it, man. Yeah, Let's see. How could I use can be art. Yeah. Tell me you were on record. We talked about the other night. I mean, you hear about that? Yeah. Yeah, I need a new driver. That's pretty good. Pretty good plan. Thank you. The problem is, the problem is As I think I've mentioned it's birthday month in the Willard House and mine has already passed. And so has Christmas and Hanukkah. Don't know if you guys saw those last month. And so that means nobody owes me anything for 11 months. Valentine's Day you get a little Valentine's day. I mean, come on. You have a driver for Valentine's Day. You make you make your own money. Don't you just go.

"1045 and 6 80, ft sports leader. Okay. Mark Willard show getting going here on a Monday after all of the football we've seen but of course, wedged in two. Who's going to the Super Bowls? All the quarterback news? That's just going on all over the place. Day. Burkett Lions beat writer Detroit Free Press with us on the matched after news that broke over the weekend. Take Good evening. How are you? I'm doing great. How are you? I'm fantastic. Let's let's start with. I would imagine this did not catch any of you off guard. Is that a fair way to say it, But I think a lot of us expected that. You know this. This was possible, right? The thing that caught me Maybe a little off guard was that Matthew Stafford actually went to the Lions at this point and said he didn't want to be traded. You know, that's not necessarily In his nature to do it, but I think it makes total sense. From the lion standpoint, you know where they are at as a franchise. They're not competitive enough yet to will not be a competitive enough during the time that magic Stafford is still under contract to really get full value out of him. And from magic standpoint, you know he's been here 12 years and he hasn't won anything. He does not want to go through another rebuild, so It makes complete sense that he wants out as well. Can I ask why they would send this public? What does that do to his value? Well, you know, I don't know that they were the ones initially that let it be known. That might have been his agent. You know his step side that I put it out. But, you know, the other thing is what the Senior Bowl is this week, and the Lions are gonna be talking trade at the Senior Bowl. So it was going to come out anyway, so I think from that best standpoint, it's you know, it wasn't going to be a secret very much longer that they were having these straight conversations, and they think there's going to be a robust enough market that they do get fair value. Perhaps Oh, I don't think it's going to be a case of them putting it out there. And that really hurt his trade value. What is that value? What do you think? The prices here? Yeah, I think it's a first round pick and, you know, probably, you know, a decent one. Maybe there's some other filler in there. But you look at that some of the deals that have been made recently. I mean, even with the 40 Niners, they're right last year. Well, middle mid first round pick for the Forest Buckner and that was you know a defensive lineman. Really good player, obviously, And that was to Ah, team like the cold, too. Amazing third quarter back away, So I think when you take some of that into account, the lines should be able to get a first round pick. Now, look, you know John Watson. Maybe you're on Rogers. I mean, that could be some good quarterbacks out there so that will ultimately help determine the market value. But You know, the lines are trying to get in front of this, too. I think they're gonna think they'd like toe get something in place here the next few weeks to have a deal. Dog Day Burke in Detroit Free press. Matthew Stafford is going to be available and I will part ways with the Lions and in some form, and so, Dave, let's back up from the current, you know, current part of the story. And and get into where Matthew is as a player right now, at this point in his career, I'm sure this doesn't surprise you out here. The big question is, is Matthew Stafford clearly a better player than then? Jimmy Garoppolo. How would you answer that question? I think he is. I mean, I think Matthew is a top 10 12 quarterback in the NFL. I mean, you certainly not in Patrick moans class, but he's a guy that you can still win with. You still got a load of talent. I mean, look, Stepford is This is not like Tom. I'm sorry. This is not like, you know, Drew Brees or Philip Rivers where the army's shot and you thinking and Duncan is way down field. You're just getting it done with this find of this planet. He still has a lot left in his body. You know, he he's taken a beating here, too. The last couple years and he does have did have the back injuries in 2018 and 19. But you know, if I was a buyer, I would be a little bit. We're young, but you know, you look back over the last 10 years and he's played every game except for the final eight of last year, so Place through tough, you know, pain. You too tough guy. He's he could do all everything you ask of him within the playbook. So I still think Matthews a quarterback that you can win within the NFL on the fact that he hasn't won a whole lot. You hear people say, Well, no run game. You know, the coaching that he's had. What have you all of those answers in your mind? Are those fair? They are. I mean, look, it's you know, you can't get the quarterback position. I don't think you can remove the quarterback from the lack of success, right? So Matthew was a part of it. That's part of his legacy here, along with the toughness of the arm and some of the spectacular things he's done, But to be fair to Matthew, you know he has not been surrounded by great talent for the vast majority of his career on the line to the head. One good defense in his 12 years. Those 2014 when I had a really good team, finishing second in the actually north behind up to go the 15 and one packers to you, Um, you know, and I would try to Kelvin Johnson. He hasn't had a whole heck of a lot of help on offense, either one 1 1000 yard rusher in 12 years, you know, so there just hasn't been a lot next to him. Um, again, it's all part of who he is. You know that That's part of why Lion fans they're comfortable. They realized that maybe it's just not going to happen here for him. But she goes to a team where the pieces are in place. Maybe we'll ultimately have the answer of whether it came with the organization. Our crew shares. You know what portion of blame in that? It's an interesting question that obviously we deal with in the NFL a lot, right. Is it him? Or is that the organization? That's the question we were asking about the New England Patriots a year ago? Feel like we got a pretty firm? Answer there do you do do you sort of do you take anything from that when we're looking at the importance of the quarterback in this league? Yeah, I know That's an interesting perspective. I mean, I do think it's so much about the players at the end of the day, and that's why I say you can't you know Matthew Stafford cannot divorce himself from what's going on on the field here in the lack of success, But I think if you you know if you put it under a different person to look, the Lions for for 30 years have been going against Aaron Rodgers and bred far from me to, you know, First ballot Hall of Famers, probably right, and so They just missed effort.

You could follow her on Twitter, too. Okay, There's like this older, older lady and we were talking and I was like, Do you know Oprah had a glass of food before this, Okay. You're like, Oh, yeah, She's my neighbor. You know what the thing is? The thing is, is about that neighborhood up there because I know well, because my my wife used to years and years and years ago used to nanny for a family that is also Oprah's neighbor because they're about 38 houses that are Oprah's neighbor. Because because because her her property is that big Ramona, that makes sense, right? Everybody sort of her neighbors. Okay, That's right. And I was like that. I immediately followed this woman on Instagram and I was like Was like this is a lot of close them again. You know, maybe one day when we come back, baby, like we're gonna be friends and then so happy over to her house and what? Just bump it, Oprah. Maybe that Zay house can happen. No, that's a little weird. Listen, it sounds to me like you are only a stone's throw away. I want you to keep putting it out there. I think that this could happen. New goals. 2021 Stanford. It did. I never met her when I was there. I got close a couple times I got close. We were in line at the coffeehouse together. We never like met and got to be like, Hi. I'm Ramona. And she would say Hi, I'm Chelsea had never happened in Tel. My 15 3 Union. And that's what we met. There you go. Drink dream. Big dream. Big. Yeah, these things things things things happen.
