"We were talking about Jimmy Carter yesterday and seeing him at Rosalynn Carter's funeral and I started thinking, we talked about how it brought us back to our parents, our elderly parents and how it brought me back to my dad and my dad's death and all that and that realization which I guess is a little bit of you know, instant terror, that emotion that comes in. Oh, we're all getting old. But on the flip side of it, when I was younger and these were devastating deaths, my my cousin Jimmy, we were 17 years old, seniors in high school. I mean, we were, we weren't close before he got leukemia and he got leukemia, I think probably, hmm, I think he was, he wasn't supposed to live long. Like two weeks, he ended up living like two years. So he died in our senior year and and I got close to because him he was in my English class. And he was on the intercom so much of the time because he was undergoing chemotherapy. And when he died, it was just like the day before we went in, it's where they replaced the white blood so he was in a germ proof room and he caught a cold. And like the next day, it's like my father had to tell me that he was gone. And that was absolutely devastating. My great nephew, I had a few little talks with him the other day, I think I mentioned on the air, the overall basketball coach of the basketball program that he's under at his high school died. You know, 43 and very tough. When you're young, you just don't expect death. Now, you do expect, there is an expectation young, when you're if you're 15, 16 years old, if your grandparents die or if you have great grandparents. There's a sadness, but there is this thought that you're older, you die. Maybe that's how a lot of kids get through it. But when you're young and somebody dies, that is a terrifying moment. But when my cousin Jimmy died, when we were 17, what came out of that, I mean, there's positives that come out of people dying because it makes you realize that life is finite and you can either go down the sewer of depression or say, I'm going to do what I want in life. And that helped me at that age. And then I had my radio partner when in I Fort worked Walton Beach, Pensacola, and we were no longer radio partners, we were for a couple of years and then I moved on, but he got testicular cancer, the late Mark Stone, in Fort Walton Beach. And he was just, we used to all laugh because this guy was, he looked like a bodybuilder, long blonde hair, you know, was the newsman, the news director of the radio station I worked and at then night sang in a rock band. And he was, like I said, built like a bodybuilder. and we'd go on the beach and we'd all be like, remember the whole, the whole, those ads, the 98 pound weakling being, you know, sand being kicked in your face and, you know, you need to be working out. We used to joke about it all the time because it's like, we'd be on the beach. And I was real thin, you know, I mean, I looked like, I looked like I was starving and he's just, you know, and so we always used to have fun with him and he died of testicular cancer. And he was 29 when he died. I think I would have been 31 at that point. No, no, I was a few years older than him. I would have been 32 or 33. That was devastating, absolutely devastating because he was such a person that, you know, such great life. But that also the, after you know, the horror of something like that happening made me focus in on life. So death can do two things. I mean, it really can. It can make you completely and depressed totally and it can make you temporarily depressed and appreciate life and also motivate you as I did. So I don't want to make it seem like because when I was talking about, you know, as our parents get older and we get older, you start thinking it, because death can have, you know, it's horrible when it happens. I mean, there is no upside to that particular moment. But afterwards, it can make you realize that, all right, there are things that I wish to do in life and I don't know if I would be where I am today if those two deaths hadn't happened in my life. Whether the motivation, the realization that you need to get serious and do the things that you want to do in life. And it's going to be a lot of hard work. And the reward may not come, but you'll regret it forever if you don't do what you want to do because they never the got opportunity to do what they wanted to do. And there is a part of me that when my cousin died and then when my old radio partner died that you think to yourself, they didn't didn't get to do it, I owe it to them to do my best. And those were all things that were very motivational to me. So I just want to throw that in because I don't want people to say, Gary sounds really bummed out by it. know, You you know. Well, it's one of those things, again, you know, we when there is some someone who has and I think Rosalind Carter was one of those for us that were 60s, 70s kids. kids, you know, she was the first lady at one point. "The Vegas golden knights beat the Winnipeg jets four to one to close out their first round series in 5 games, Mark stone had a three point night with a goal in two assists in the series clinching victory. It's not easy to win in this league, not easy to win a playoff series. So anytime you get a chance to close it out, you gotta try and take full advantage. And I like our effort tonight. Chandler, Stephenson scored a pair of goals and Laurent bres sa stopped 29 of 30 shots in the Vegas nets after dropping game one of the series the knights then went on to win the next four. "He would kind of you would kind of fill in what they need. We're with Justin Emerson Las Vegas Sun he covers the Golden Knights will get to the prospects what might be coming back in a potential trade in a moment, But you mentioned some of those big acquisitions. And with that came big contracts. Now Michael carries a big contract. Five years $10 million cap number. How is Vegas positioned in terms of the cap? Would they have to make other moves to make his contract fit in? They would They have about $6 million in cap space going into the next top, Even with most or this offseason, With most of the team coming back, they're going to need to figure out a new deal for Alec Martinez decide if he's going to come back to their blue line or not, but other matters. But here's Danmark Thomas not sick, and that's it for their free agent, So their team is pretty sad, but $6 million, even if they don't sign Alec Martinez and isn't enough for Jack Eichel cabinet so they would have to make some other moves elsewhere. And and they they've always shown that they're willing to do that. Last year, They traded away post as me and made Schmidt basically in encapsulated moves they had room. Sign Alex Pietrangelo this year they could, they could make the moves elsewhere. You could look at Riley Smith is on an expiring deal. $5 million left on his contract. He can move Alex Tuck, who I would imagine would probably be part of a Jack Eichel crate. I guess we'll get to that in a second makes close to $5 million, so that frees up space. And if you really want to do the big thing last adopted and they tried to trademark Andre Fleury, and they couldn't get any takers, so If you're looking at that he just won the best not, but that's $7 million with Robin Leonard waiting to go If you wanted to work out a deal, maybe elsewhere. I don't know if he visited in Buffalo, but you trade flurry elsewhere. You You free up $7 million in Count state them And suddenly you've got Jack Eichel money You mentioned Alex Tuck. Yeah, I want to ask you about what pieces would be available and I was going to go with prospects. But let's go with tuck first and whether or not he would be available, and if he's one guy, Justin, are there other guys you think that are on the roster? Younger guys that maybe are in the NHL already with talk that could be in consideration for a trade. Sure. I mean, you look at big trades like this, and it's always freaky bases right. It's always the first round pick a player in the prospect, and it's kind of that quality of player and prospect that that makes or breaks the deal and Look at the players on the Golden Knights roster, and I think you've got that Alex talked is is the young player that makes? I think his captive 4.75 million over the next five years or so, so that I think would be really, really enticing to Buffalo. I mean, you can. You can tell me more about what the savers need, but that's the guy that's from upstate New York. He's He is young. He's really He's a top six player that kind of stuck on the third line for the gold mine because they have Mark Stone and Riley Smith, But I think that player that would be very, very interesting. For Buffalo. Other players you look at, you know, Cody glasses had a bit of a disappointing year since he was the Golden I first ever drop. Pick six. Overall, He hasn't quite developed the way that gold might have hoped. But maybe a change of scenery does him well. Peyton credit is more of a prospect. He's a cold night that brought back to the center. He played a couple of games in the NHL. So I think the pieces are there if the Golden Knights were willing to kind of the kind of deplete some of the young young talent on their rosters that could that could satisfy the neighbors. It's not a short discussion if you want to talk about what do the Sabres need just about everything? I mean? I'm not ruling anything out at this point, Justin But But you mentioned credit. So yeah, Let me ask you about the prospects and as long as you know, I was going to have you talked about, you know, the so called guys that would be untouchable. The best players that are prospects they wouldn't want to get rid of and preferably somewhere in this discussion is a center because if they're trading Eichel and they they might be moving on from Sam Reinhart. They need to feed Phil Center spot openings here. Sure, Yeah, Al shut out such a great player out stuff to wear and that there's nothing wrong with that. But you're right. If you're going to trade Jack Eichel and maybe move on from Sam, right hard you're gonna need you're going to need a pivot coming back and Eating crabs would be that guy, and I think that would be if the Golden Knights were willing to include him in the deal. The guy that gets it done. I just don't know if the golden eyes would be willing to include him. This is a team that That is that the older veteran team doesn't have a lot of entry level contract. If you're going to bring in it, a million dollar guy like Jack Eichel, you're going to need younger players on entry level contracts to make the money work just to speak out compliant for the payment. Taking credit of their top prospect. I think he was going to play playoff games before he fractured his job at the end of the regular season. He's 20 years old. He just finished. His junior eligibility will be in the NHL. Somewhere next season. I imagine the golden I hope it's Vegas and and I think that that might be the guy that holds up the deal. I'm Buffalo. I'm asking for crabs and up on Vegas. I'm holding firm on that one. So if Vegas can make the deal happen without him, I think they'd be ecstatic. But you're right other than Krebs. They don't have a ton of center. Uh, prospects that are that are near the NHL level outside of maybe glasses. Still 22. But I'm not sure what his trade value is right now. Anybody in terms of prospects Justin is there anybody outside of center, then maybe you pair with a first round pick or talk or some other combination. Yeah, they've got Brendan person who is he is a winger. He just finished his freshman year at the University of Michigan. He was their first round pick last year. He has terrific slapshot. He's you know, I think he's going to be a real good scorers in the NHL. You have a couple of guys in the American League. Jack Dugan, let me double am scoring two years ago. He's a He's a path first winger, um you've got you've got some guys that can make it work. I just don't know if it's kind of on the the AIDS here prospect that that Buffalo would be open for final thing for you. Let's pretend Kelly McCrimmon is talking to Kevin Adams, right, and they can't agree on Eichel. But the Vegas Golden Knights still want to center. Could Kevin Adams say, Hey, Kelly, while I got you have any interest in Sam Reinhart That's an interesting question, because I think that if they're going to get center because they do have you know Chandler Stephenson and William Karlsson did really well, it's top six better..

"I mean, and Jack Eichel's healthy is one of the best players marrying shell hands down. He is a great player, and that's the thing that we, you know, kind of forget when a guy is out of sight out of mind for a while, and obviously, with the injury situation being what it is, you know that's not ideal in terms of getting full value, But I still think that all these other teams are going to be bidding against each other. That's usually the best way to get the leverage is that you know you have a lot of people that want to and I think there are plenty of teams that do and would be interested in finding out more about the health situation in order to make sure that they're making the soundest and dressed They can. We're continuing our discussions going around the league talking about possible teams in a Jack Eichel trade. Would they be interested? Who are the top prospects? What could possibly happen shortly after Vegas got eliminated, They were thrown into the rumor mill. Uh, as a team that might be interested in upgrading their top center spot and adding Jack Eichel. Let's find out more about that. We are going to the West or hotline, and we're going to be joined by Justin Emerson, who covers the Golden Knights for the Las Vegas Sun. Just in from Vegas perspective. Would they be interested in Jack Eichel? Let's go from there. I think they definitely be interested. It's going to come down to what the cost is going to be and and basically how much it's going to cost the Golden Knights. You look at their history. They've never been afraid to go out and get that Star player after the first year with Max Patch already that trade deadline, they got Mark Stone. Then it was Robin Leonard. Then it was out the trans alone. So you look at that. That's two wingers, the defenseman and a goalie. So it seems like they're missing that Star Center to go good and Is looking at the way that the Golden Knights have done business since they have operated. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were if they were making calls for Jack. I go right now. Having said that, Justin, I was curious the pursuit of the pursuit of big name guys and moves like that. Does that come from the very top? Is that Bill Foley? Is he And is he someone who would look at this and tell us GM? Hey, Iculs available. Let's go get this kid. I think it's a combination of ownership in Bill Foley, who is willing to spend he's never been afraid to say Okay, we're going to be a cap team that first year we're going to do everything that we can to bring a cup to Las Vegas as soon as possible. And then they put in Ju two guys at the top. George McPhee, the president of hockey operations, and Kelly McCrimmon, the general manager, who are who are just naturally aggressive in their moves. They did that at the at the expansion draft. They were You know, they wheeled and dealed a little bit before they ever even had a team And then they they went out, and they identified players that they wanted to bring to the Golden Knights and and went out and got him. Whether the captain was an issue or not. They've always seemed to make it work, so I think it's a combination thereof, the owner of the front office of just kind of that that culture they're trying to establish Vegas have established for four years. Now. I'm doing whatever it takes to win hot here. When you when you look at their depth chart right now, how are they? How do they stack up at center? And are they are they in desperate need of adding a guy like Eichel, who I assume would go right to the top of the list. Well, that's that's what makes Vegas connection to Jack Eichel. Interesting is that center is the one position you can look at them and go. You know what they need an upgrade them. They have William Karlsson. He's probably the best center on the game he plays on the second line. Chandler Stephenson, their top line centre, which he doesn't necessarily seem like a top line centre. But this has come to Vegas. He's been in perfectly on that top line with Max Patch ready and Mark Stone. So he has complemented the two star wingers perfectly and has been exactly what they need. But after that centered epistle is better depth is fine. They have Nicholas. What? How much notice of free agent keeping Cola? Sorry. These guys are good, but they're bottom six centers, their role players and, uh, you look at it and you can go. You know what a start Star center would fit in on? This seemed pretty good. And Chairman Stevenson got hurt in the playoffs. You can. You can see how badly center depth personal tonight so Yeah centers the position that they need the most. If they were going to go and make a big boat, Justin, do you think you know They've had obviously a lot of success in such a short time, including a berth in the Cup final. Just lost in the conference finals with what you were talking about at center. That particular position would they view an acquisition of Eichel as the quote unquote final piece to the cup puzzle? I think they might. I think they might have been. They've come close to this kind of this final piece is kind of in the interesting part because it was Mark Stone kind of kind of started things like, okay. Wow. This game is serious. They're going to go out and get Mark Stone. They're going to give him $9.5 million and then it was Robin Lehner, despite them, having Marc Andre Fleury, and then it was Alex Pietrangelo, despite them, having gauge Schmidt. They've always found ways to upgrade wherever they can. But, I mean, you hear the adage so often that star centers of the most important thing in hockey, and that's the one thing that they They don't have. William Karlsson was spectacular. That first season, he scored 43 goals hasn't come close to replicating that sense. So I think if you are looking at puzzle pieces you can kind of you can kind of see him falling in place and see where Jack Eichel fits on the Golden Knights. And if you were to come to the team, I I'm not sure that you can really point. Anywhere on the team and say, Yeah, that's the weak spot. I think he would..

"He was on and suddenly he looks like the alec martinez of eight years ago and he's been phenomenal fit to the point where now it's like i'm saying like it's a total mistake if they don't find a way to bring this guy back and in these playoffs he's been key for he's he's made some offensive place he's been scoring on the power play. You wouldn't think of him as a power play guy. But he's he's got his little office over there on the right circle and just rips one timers and he's he's nailed a few of them and the other part of it is. I don't know what his injuries but he is. Battling through something that is. I believe to be significant and part of the reason. I've heard some things that aren't like solid enough to report but also what makes me believe that. He's battling through a lot is he has not touched the ice since the playoffs started except for a game he hasn't missed a game but aside from pregame warmups and the sixty minutes on of hockey. He has not touched the ice for a morning skate. An off day skate optional. Nothing he has not touched the ice. And that's not like alec martinez. He's usually out there almost time. So he's clearly battling through something and they're getting him ready for those games and the train staff is doing whatever they have to do to get him out there. But the fact that he's playing dealing with whatever he's dealing with and he's laying in front of six seven eight nine shots. A game is just tells you like. That's that's what that guy brings to this team..

"You have all five skaters have to be in the exact spot. They're supposed to be in. And the golden knights. It may not be the flashy like highlight reel plays but it is a sight to behold a hockey team playing within their system and pete deboer is a great xs and os coach. He drew up the system. His players executed it perfectly and it made a seemingly unstoppable offense suddenly look very human. Yeah the defense really stuck out to me. Were very aggressive in this series in terms. Obviously offensively i think. Eddie eddie during the broadcast was pointing out a lot on nbc channel. Like how much offensively. They were jumping when vegas is that their best. That's what they're involved. But i thought defensively pretty much up and down the lineup. Through their six defenseman they were all taking us an extra step or to higher in protecting the blue line that they would have otherwise to help provide that support for guys like carson and stone when they're in the middle so they're not left on an island alone. Okay we should save if you don't like mark stone this probably isn't the bad guys for you and and save yourself some diving journey off now but i did want to talk to you a little bit about his process because you see the highlight reels that are put together of his ways and you watch them on a nightly basis obviously covering the team and it is easy to become a little desensitized because he does make it. Look so simple where it's like. He just see some of the puck he goes he takes from them but if it were that simple everyone would be doing it right and so for him to do it as with the skating quality that he does obviously part of it is anticipation part of it is positioning in the first place. Kind of being able to read the ice and see where it's gonna go but i'm just so fascinated like i'd love imagine if you could just as a matter you could just do video session with him where you just sat down on you..

"The scott saw him. Take one skate stride. Like absolutely not and the fact that he's been able to turn into the player that he has with his skating is improved. He's still not fast though. And when you see him next to nathan mackinnon he's really not fast and the fact that he was able to corral him in neutral zone which the neutral zone is the most open part of the ice. You can skate in any direction. It's the hardest part of the ice you would think for player like like mark stone. We talked about it he. I've talked about this several times over the last week. He plays really well in small ice situations in the corners in puck battles. He always comes out with puck because his hand eye coordination is so ridiculously good. Small ice favors mark stone whereas bigeye situations usually favor of nathan mackinnon but the fact that he was able to stick with him in the neutral zone so what they essentially did as they played a one to two four check and the one was. Usually max pacioretty. He's usually the f. One skates into the avalanche zone and tries to pressure their defenseman. He applies the initial pressure. And then what they avalanche liked to do. Is they like to have mckinnon reload and come back towards his own curl. In that circle circle became famous for golden knights fans because of the lake. Tahoe game when alex tranquillo is miked up. And he's all he's before mckinnon even had the puck he saw him make that circle build that speed. And we know how fast nathan mackinnon gets going and he said oh boy and then mckinnon dice through the entire team and scored. Well mckinnon does that on regular basis like. That's that's a design play for them. He comes back. And then as he gets that speed defenseman handsome the puck and he sliced through neutral zone his wingers he enters the blue line with speed and his wingers are cutting to the net and they create dangerous places like that what mark stones able to do is with max pacioretty applying the pressure in the defensive zone him chandler stephenson are kind of just patrolling the neutral zone and letting their defenseman watch their backs and because stones anticipation for what is happening next is so unbelievably good. He's able to meet nathan mackinnon at the red line almost every time and despite being at a significant speed disadvantage and he doesn't have to lay a huge hit. Like he's not laying huge hits. He's not even stripping him off the puck. He's just simply taking that lane away forcing mckinnon to shift his speech his momentum change direction now he's slowed down and then he by the time he gets to the golden knights blue line. He's not moving quickly. The defenseman closed the gap super close and force dump in and if you foresee avalanche to dump it in. They're just not going to win. Those board battles against alex petra angelo and shave during in the corners. The way that they that they beat you in transition so to me. It's all based on stones ability to predict where that plays going before. It's there so he can get there and cut it off well. And that's that's the exactly and i think in the.

"Is Jim Rome. I am live in the rocket mortgage studios in southern California when you need certainty the home buying process with a loan that fits your life. You know that rocket can as I mentioned back to back to back So far so good. We start our number two by talking some hockey. We are joined right now by the general manager of the Vegas Golden Knights. He was named GM effective September 1st 2019. Previously served as assistant GM. Before joining Vegas. He was owner, governor GM and head coach of the Brandon Wheat Kings, Vegas in Colorado. Living up to all the hype, they're tied up at two games apiece. Vegas is at Colorado this evening. Nine P.m. Eastern Kelly McCrimmon is my guest. Kelly. It's so good to have you on. How are you? Under real good, Jim. Thanks for having me. Thank you for doing it. Kelly. Great Gavea. So Colorado jumped out to a lead in the series. Then you go back home. You beat them two straight. How good did it feel to be back in front of your home fans in that rock his house and to get those two wins. Well, home ice was a big part of it for us in Game three and four. We've gradually increased our capacity throughout the season. Game three was the first that we've been at full capacity, so we were Over 18,000 Bulls Game three and Game four. And when you look at Game three Trailing late in the third period, You know, you have to ask yourself when that one's over. We did come back and score twice in 45 seconds to to have a 32 win. The fans are a big part of that. I don't know that you do that in an empty building or or away from home, so Was great to have, uh, you know, full capacity and in T Mobile. It's a great home rink. Hey, by the way, one interesting point just made and I was gonna ask about the fans. But to that point, I mean, before Game three, Colorado ahead, won six straight playoff games and they had not lost in the post season this year, and they had barely even trailed. They had that lead as you point out in the third period. So what did your guys show you in the way they battled back in the third. Well, we needed. You know, I kept thinking to myself as the third period went on. When they took the lead. We needed somebody to make a play. We needed somebody to make a play. And of course, when you get You know deeper into the playoffs and you're playing really good teams. That's what you need is people to step up when, when needed, and Jonathan Marshall so was able to, uh, tie the game Forest. Johnson's had a great series three goals again the next game and then Shortly after he scored to tie the game the building was, you know, very energized Max Patch already the deflected a nickeled and shot to give us the 32 lead was stood up. As the winner. So, um, you know, somebody to make that play, I think is really what we're looking for. Unfortunately, Jonathan Marshall still was able to do that for us. Kelly McCrimmon joining us exactly right. Like you know, you need somebody make a play. Chances are it's going to be that guy. And the team follows up that game three win with that 5 to 1 win and he had a hat trick in that game. Like how huge was he in that situation? And then what do you make of the way the team performed overall in Game four? Well, we played really well in both. To be honest, we played really well in Game two, which was 32 loss. To Colorado in overtime. Uh, so we wouldn't doubt went home down two games to zero. Obviously, Game three was was a huge win to get us back in the series. Game four was probably our most complete game and in that game, William Carlson's line, So when you look at the makeup of our team, we're in our fourth season. The one uh a lot of things have changed, but the one thing that has been a constant sense. Nobody two or three weeks in the season One was the line of Riley Smith, William Karlsson and Jonathan March facilities. Played together for the most part entirely, all four seasons and their line really performed well in Game two of the game four and, you know, with Marshall shows. Patrick leading the way. Kelly McCrimmon is joining us. Kelly mentioned the fans and I want to get into that because you know what you have, but it's really curious to me to see the way the opposition always reacts to it as an example, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said after the game quote, it's allowed. It's hard to hear anything in there. You can tell by my voice just talking on the bench. Just trying to call the next line. I'm losing my voice. There's a lot of noise in that building, and the reason I mentioned that is you don't have one of the best fan bases in hockey. You have one of the best fan bases to me in all of sports. And when you consider the relationship the team has with the community. It becomes even stronger. Like how would you describe that relationship and the lift that everybody gets from that crowd? Well, I think you've you've touched on it. It is just incredible. And, uh, it's unique. I've been in lots of loud buildings, but just the the energy and the atmosphere and the party feel the vibe. That comes out of our building. It's it's really intimate. The way that the building is built. It's tight. It's 17,000. 500 person seating capacity than with standing room puts us over 18. But they're on top of you and and they come to enjoy the game, and it's it's interesting. Will oftentimes get found from the visiting team and our fans enjoy those people. You know, they treat them well, which I don't think always happened when fans go on the road, but it's just really Really good energy in the building. And to Jerry. Better point you You couldn't talk to the guy beside you. It was It was that loud in there, and, uh, you know, again, we rode that and that gives our team energy as you'd expect. We're talking about Kelly McCrimmon. Of course, I want to ask you about Mark Stone. He was doing the first captain in team history. I know that That's not a decision. That was made lightly. And in fact, the team and had a lot of success without an official captain. So why was it important to give him the C and what kind of an impact have you noticed as a result? Well, we had gone without a captain the first three seasons and you know that was a little bit. Almost the identity of our team in the early stages was, you know, we had 23 captains players from all across The National Hockey League that were pushed the curve by the existing team that came Was something to prove, and and and it seemed to really be a good dynamic in a good way to have the leadership of those early teens forms. Derek England, obviously was Huge part of our leadership group in the three years that he played, and it was working. I think we could have easily continued that way. But sometimes when you've got a guy you feel is the obvious guy. I think that you need to To validate that person and mark is really grown in the role. We expected that he would. He's a player. That's Very passionate. No leads by example. And yet it's very humble. And I didn't You know, I think he'd put his own boundaries on what level of leadership he could provide, wearing an a.

"Like Ryan Getzlaf, too, To be honest with you. He is really better suited Dad. But both of those two guys, I mean, you look at both of the careers of a Ryan gets laughed and Patrice Bergeron, I look, it produced Bergeron because I think he is the pinnacle. Of a two way player that's played in the last 10 to 15 years. This guy is has been a true professional. He has helped the Boston Bruins win the Stanley Cup every year. We talk about him for the Selkie. I don't know how many. How many silk is has he won? You know? I think six or seven He is a tricky one. That many. Yeah, he's he's won at least six or seven cell keys, and he's been involved with many others. He is he's, uh, Dylan Cousins has a really bright future. And we here in Buffalo should be very pleased with the character of this young man, because when I say character, that's what we need. We need more players that play like him that care like him that are willing to do anything for the team first. Okay? Not individual. Not a. If I get more goals I'm gonna have, you know, bigger contract? No, it's about the team. It's about winning. It's about doing the things that takes to win. And, uh, he has been. He has been probably the brightest star that we have all watched this year, and I'm gonna tell you we're going to see some really great things from Dylan cousins moving forward. Four cell keys and a king Clancy. So five trophies. So you're right. Here is 55 when I say that Stanley Cup When I say seven. I think he was nominated for seven. That sounds right. E mean, he got on the cover of the NHL game, Did he? Not? So I mean, that's an award in itself, too. I think so. Right? Um, instigators Andrew Craig. W g r 5 15 minutes. Then you can catch it on their Facebook and then later on at savers dot com, So make sure you check it out. I look forward to seeing this because I really do enjoy Watching Dylan cousins, but I think I really enjoyed meeting him when he was first drafted, and he did say Patrice Bergeron, If you recall which video Yes, I think we're on the same page with that. But I do know here. Jeff just threw in the rundown. If Bergeron wins the Selkie this year. It'll be the most cell keys ever. So Okay, There's that That's so he s o. You said Bergeron currently has how many 54 Yes. Four. So, so he's tied with Bob Gainey. Um So who who right now? Would be the lead candidate for for the Selkie. I can't. I don't know that I can personally make the argument. Um, but someone threw Sidney Crosby's name in there. Mm. And I mean, I threw his name in there a few years ago. He was like, plus something, and he had, like 90 points. And I just wonder like, why is he always overlooked? I mean, Nice plus nine this year, But there was a year where he had 100 points. He was plus 18. You know, but I mean, sure that I want to put Sidney Crosby in the Selke Trophy candidate. That's just me. I don't I don't I don't know why. But I just don't see, um Did you put him in the heart candidate this year for the heart? Yes. I mean Malkin's missed 21 games. He's missed a lot. You know, and the team is still very relevant. And he's leaving. I guess I would ask you, Petey is, you know, going back to the Selkie? Would you put me on dry cycle in there? Right now. We second in the league. With a plus 27. 23 goals. 66 points 46 games Plus 27. He plays 22 a half minutes tonight. Killing penalties. Yes. How can you know it then? You then you How can you stone you have Mark Stone. In Vegas 18 goals 53 points plus 26 46 games. He's another guy that you have to put in there. And then we talk about our boy, Patrice Breeze. Bergeron. 18 Goals 41 points plus 25 47 games. I think those three guys right there would have to be Two of your top Players for insulting I have an issue with the Than Ah, lot of these awards, Craig. I mean, I really do. Do you without looking Do you know the exact definition of the Selkie? It's it's awarded to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game. Just I mean, why is Patrice Bergeron Because he gets he gets almost a point a game, and he's really good defensively. Is that the only reason why, but he's not. I don't think Is he the best Shut down guy in the league. Like like, Who's Who's the best player? In the league to put on Conner. MC David, I want to know that that's your Selke Trophy winner. Okay, I would take me personally. Would take Patrice Bergeron. And Brad Marshall. Yeah. You know how we not How we not taking Brad Marshall and putting him in the sultan. I think that's a bigger question. He puts you know, he is is incredible. Incredible. Defensively, He scores more short handed goals than anybody in the league. Actually, I might have to look that one up. Take it back. Yeah, but you conspirators stat on here, and we're not seeing what he's second right now. Brad Mercy.
