'Bi-Partisan Moderates' Discuss Fred Upton for House Speaker
"A so called bipartisan group of moderates Our talking quietly behind the scenes About making Fred Upton the Speaker of the House Fred Upton is a liberal Republican from Michigan who of course voted for Trump's impeachment Exactly what I've been concerned about Now the boneheads can't control what's going to happen Even if they're joined by ten or 20 of their friends they can't control what's going to happen Even if they're joined by one of my buddies chip Roy they can't control what's going to happen As I told you yesterday the moderate Republicans really the liberal Republicans They're not going to roll over and play dead while all this is going on They're watching this drama And they're trying to exploit it Exploit it You can always remove a speaker John Boehner was removed In part due to us right here behind this microphone in this audience But that's not the point The point is McCarthy is not Boehner He wants Jim Jordan to head the House judiciary committee He wants comer who we've not met yet Maybe we will at some point To run the House oversight committee And these guys have to hit the ground running Because they only have two years Effectively we don't know what's going to happen two years from now Meanwhile the FBI and the Justice Department under the corrupt meritless Garland and that administration they're plowing ahead Meanwhile we have tens of thousands of illegal immigrants coming into this country every single week
Official says over 10,000 Ukrainian troops killed in war
"A top adviser to Ukraine's president, has cited military chiefs as saying 10,000 to 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in the country's 9 month old struggle against Russia's invasion. Michael podolak has given new figures about Ukrainian soldiers killed in battle, while noting the number of injured troops was higher and civilian casualty counts significant. The rare comment is far below estimates of Ukrainian casualties from western leaders last month, general Mark milley, the chairman of the U.S. joint chiefs of staff, said as many as 40,000 Ukrainian soldiers and well over 100,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded, he added that it was the same thing probably on the Ukrainian side. I'm Charles De Ledesma
Mark Shaw: The Cover up That Let Carlos Marcello Get Away With Murder
"Was it wolf? Yeah, Morris. Morrison, why do you suppose he did nothing when he could have done something? Well, I think that you can see a stream of information about senator Cooper, who was one of JFK's closest friends. And that's where Morris Wolfe met Dorothy kill gallon at these parties at senator Cooper's home in Georgetown. And I've confirmed all of that. You can see a stream through there where he's having second thoughts, of course. He submitted, he writes a letter of resignation, which he doesn't send because they aren't inviting him to the hearings. They're not telling them when the hearings are. If you can imagine that. And then he starts to question things. And if you look at what Morris wolf said, he is continuing to have doubts about all of this. And then he decides, okay, I'm going to go along with it, Eric, because I'm going to get the dissent that senator Richard Russell and Georgia want that we both want in the final report. It's going to say we don't believe in the silver bullet theory. We don't believe in the Oswald alone theory, and we've been guaranteed by none other than chief justice Warren that that will be in the final report. The reason he's hiding in this photograph is because they never put that in there. And you imagine how history would have changed if that would have been in the report. Things would still have been open. Marcelo and his people got away with murder, basically, of the president of the United States because they covered all this up. And that's I think why Cooper kept quiet. You know, they had a coat of silence. LBJ and Hoover made them basically sign the fact. I don't know if it was an actual document. They would never talk about this. And if you look at the media coverage of the Warren commission, they never did. For all those years, they never did anything.
Mark Shaw: Connecting Joe Kennedy and J. Edgar Hoover
"Wanted in our final segment to connect Joe Kennedy the patriarch to J. Edgar Hoover. Go ahead. Well, all of this is my contribution to history. You know, it all landed in my lap somewhere and so I feel like it's my duty to let people know about this. They can make up their own minds. I write stop and think books. But one of the most miraculous things that I found, my wife said, I screamed when she came when I came across this. From the national archives, a document that showed at one point, Joe Kennedy wrote a really nice letter to J. Edgar Hoover, praising him up and down about everything he was doing and everything. And then if you can believe this, said, you know, mister Hoover, FBI director Hoover, you should run for president. And if you do, I will back you financially. That just blew my mind. Yeah. Here. You know, it's just corrupt. It's just corrupt stuff, and it bothers the conscience that these kinds of things. Listen, this is the point. And it relates as to where we are today. When you wonder how it is that the clintons and the bidens can be so corrupt, we have to understand folks. This is human nature, apart from God, this is what power does to people. It is evil, it hurts people. And when you think about J. Edgar Hoover, I mean, the idea that this man had the power that he did as the director of the FBI for decades, folks, unelected for decades, tremendous power to look into people's lives. And he himself is a tremendously mysterious creepy figure. It
Mark Shaw: LBJ, J. Edgar Hoover Wanted to Cover up JFK Assassination
"Books released today. I'm very proud of it. I wasn't going to write it. But I'll tell you one of the first things I found audio tape conversations between LBJ, the new president, and J. Edgar Hoover, on two particular dates in 1963 and four. And these guys, you talk about dark and diabolical. These two men were planning. No question about it to deceive the American people in the world about what really happened to JFK. Here's just a few, you know, two or three of the conversation points. LBJ, yes. His secretary. J Edgar Hoover on extension two one 9 two. LBJ, are you familiar with this proposed group that they are trying to put together on this study of your report and Hoover's report is Oswald alone and other things too from the house two from the Senate, somebody from the court, a couple of outsiders. Hoover, no, I haven't heard that. I've seen the reports on the Senate investigation investigating committee they're talking about. Well, they'll be Jay says, we think if we don't have to, I want to get by by just filing your report. J. Edgar Hoover, I think it would be very, very bad to have a grace of investigation. Well, the only way LBJ says we can stop them is probably a point of high level one to evaluate report and put someone pretty good on it and we can select who it is. J. Edgar Hoover, yes, because we would get a bunch of television going, that would be bad. J. Edgar Hoover, it's a three ring ring circuit. It would be a three ring circus. So right away, see, there are controlling what's going to be happening. And then they go through all of these individuals as people can read. Who they think might be on the commission, and they cross this one out because, well, he might want some publicity. This is
Mark Shaw: The Kind of People RFK & JFK Were
"The only thing, I mean, when I was reading the book, I was thinking it's sad that marital and Monroe died. It said, particularly that Dorothy kilgallen died. It's less sad that JFK died because when you look at his life, the depravity is astonishing. It is absolutely astonishing that the level of entitlement, the idea that his father and his family had extreme extraordinary power and that they used it to rig an election, which is an abomination in the United States of America, all crime is wrong, but to steal an election is really, really dirty. And then of course, as a young man, married to a beautiful woman, he is bringing prostitutes into The White House. It's just so dark. And so awful. So it seems a tragic tale, whether he's assassinated or not. It's just so filthy. Well, it all comes around, you know, in life. And I have new information in fighting for justice. JFK's a senator. He's obviously having sex with his secretary. And it's in a building in Georgetown. And he goes over there, and there's a woman who lives next door. And she decides to go ahead and let him know that she's going to tell the media about it. He confronts her on the street on the street the next day with his finger in her nose. You go ahead and you do that, you'll never work in this country again. Okay? That's what kind of a person he was. And then Joe Kennedy just covers all this up. I mean, JFK was married before he married the Jackie. And Joe covered that up. That was his greatest, but of course the least. It's almost funny. That seems like a charming thing, you know,
Eric Metaxas: The Meaning of Christmas
"Okay, do you think America has lost the true meaning of Christmas? What do you think that meaning is? I don't know what could be more confusing than we say when we ask these questions like the true meaning of Christmas. Why does Christmas even have to have a meaning? I mean, here's what Christmas is. It's a celebration of the birth of Jesus who is the second person of the Trinity. So when we talk about the meaning of Christmas, it can kind of become this kind of commercialized like everybody's in the Christmas spirit. And I think to that extent we've lost the true meaning of Christmas in the sense that it becomes attenuated into nothingness, that it gets about gift giving. It's not about gift giving. We give gifts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. So I think we really have to make an extra effort to focus on the actual meaning of Christmas and the penumbra is less important. Okay, all right, so the actual meaning the birth of Jesus Christ savior of the world.
Mark Shaw: A Journey to Investigate JFK, Marilyn Monroe's Death
"This book you obviously your journalist, your investigative reporter, you've written many books on the subject of the JFK assassination and Marilyn Monroe, Dorothy gallon. In this book, you take the different tack, really, of telling your story so that people can understand how it is that you of all people would find yourself being able to figure out what innumerable people have been trying to figure out for low these many decades. And in the course of telling your story, you of course tell about when you lived in the 70s in Denver, you were mistaken for another famous Denver resident at that time. None other than the famous John Dutch endorf whom we know as John Denver. Yeah, what I decided to do, I have so many people who've gotten in touch with me and I'm sure they will after listening to your broadcast here. I must crowd sorcerer they call me because when I've sent all my material out there into the world, I get all these tips from people who've watched the presentations on YouTube or the book read the book or whatever. And so I've been asked, how did I do this? Because people who know me well realize I almost dropped out of Purdue. I couldn't pass a physics class, so I almost dropped out. It took me 6 years to get through. It took me a long time to get through law school. And then I've had this incredible improbable journey to where I felt like that somehow or another I was supposed to investigate JFK's death and that of Maryland and Dorothy. So it is an improbable journey. I hope it's an inspiring one. Because I'm not the smartest guy. You're able to go after this material.
Eric Metaxas: China's Strict COVID Policies Are Evil
"First serious one here. What do you think about China's strict COVID policy and the resulting protests? Well, anybody who's been listening to me on this program knows what I think, but in case you need me to give you the short answer. There are sometimes we see evil. There's no other words. Satanic evil. An authoritarian regime behaving in such a way that is as cruel and inhuman as anything you saw under the Nazis or in the old Soviet Union. And the question is, are you speaking up about it? And are you watching those who are saying nothing? The Biden administration, which is very timid about being proud of American liberty. They blather about democracy, but let me tell you, if we had a Ronald Reagan in The White House or a Donald Trump in The White House or probably a George W. Bush in The White House, they would be saying something very strong to support the protesters in China. Many of whom are profound Christians in the underground church. So COVID has been used by authoritarians from Michigan to New York to California to China as a way of oppressing people as a way of crushing liberty and nothing is more dramatically true than in the case of China. So that's what I think of that.
Media Crushes Jerry Jones Over 1957 Photo
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the occupation show. Hey, I want to jump back into the conversation I was having about LeBron James and I want you to get the chance to hear Stephen a smith's take on Cherry Jones. Being pictured in a picture of something 68 years ago. Wrote a clip of Stephen a Smith. On my podcast, no mercy. Because you got people that wanted to come at me in the wrong way. I stand by what I said. In regards to a 14 year old in a still photo. And that's what you want to use to jump on them. You just highlight it. There's plenty of other things to jump when Jerry Jones about. You ain't never hired black coach. You didn't stand up for Colin Kaepernick and his rights as an American citizen to do what he did. You didn't speak out initially. You were actually hiding when it came to social justice issues, Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones would tell you I told him that. Where you at? I'll give a damn what you say. Say something. You gotta speak up. You can't be quiet. But that's entirely different. They use in the still photo of a 14 year old standing in a crowd in 1957, pre civil rights, pre voting rights because clearly the climate of those times were what it was. Do we need to regurgitate what the hell was going on in the gym crow south? We all know that story. Lynchings murders, rapes mayhem all types of stuff. All types of insidious despicable things that was done and inflicted upon the black race. We understand what the hell was going on down there. So if you're Jerry Jones and you're standing in the crowd, I'm looking at how you're acting more than I'm looking at what the environment is. I would love to let him finish, but I just need to talk about what he said. He didn't stand up for Colin Kaepernick, but he panned dak Prescott a very handsome. I'm out of money. So it make this make sense. He don't care about black people, but his quarterback is probably one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Oh, but he didn't stand up for Colin. 'cause Colin Kaepernick is an idiot. That's why he didn't stand up for Colin Kaepernick. But he's standing up for that Prescott.
The Idaho Murder Mystery
"I wanted to talk about this murder. In Idaho, 'cause I was at the cigar lounge last night, and there were some people asking me about it. And there's a lot of confusion going on with this murder, right? There's four young people that were murdered and it appears that they have nothing. They have no evidence, they have no weapon recovered, they don't have a suspect in mind. A lot of people are completely perplexed. And in a way, I'm kind of perplexed. But let me just give you a few reasons. Why this could be taking a long time or the perception of it taking a long time because if you're not in law enforcement and you don't do investigations or you don't have direct knowledge of it, it could be very confusing for you. So there are four things that could be at work here. One thing is that this is a very small town, right? I mean, you're not talking about a major city. And with small towns, there's a very limited amount of resources. And obviously we see that they have the FBI coming in and assisting in this investigation because they just don't have enough. You know, how much technology do you think they have in this little small town? How is the closest crime lab? You know, what kind of forensic training have they done? How many murders have happened in the town where they have enough experience to do a proper investigation into a murder, especially a quadruple murder?
How Your Bad Is Worse Than Your Good
"Now ladies and gentlemen, let me get back to Kanye. Let's go to clip too, 'cause I missed out on clip too. Let's roll clip two. Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table. Especially Hitler. Okay, let me talk about this for a minute. What do Hitler is the problem, Hitler May he may have brought value at some point, but his murderous ways counseled all the value. What value could he have bring to the nation that could overcome what he did? Let me just say this. That's like being a guy who's a football coach. And he coaches on a team and he molests half of the players. Because he won a championship and he was coaching kids on a team voluntarily. Let's just say he was volunteering his time. But then you go in molest kids, nothing that you're good is pointless at this point. You've ruined kids for life. The championships mean nothing. Because you have literally ruined a generation of children. It's the same thing with Hitler. Like, maybe he did some good inventions. And maybe he, you know, did some things that are good. cares when you murdered millions of people? You ordered the murder a slaughter of millions of people. Do you go down forever as being a deadbeat?
Is It Time to Cancel 'Ye'
"So he did a lot of stuff that some could argue that some things were good some things were atrocious. And some people may have a problem even with a person agreeing that Robert E. Lee wasn't all bad, right? Abraham Lincoln wasn't all bad. One aspect of what he did was bad. But I just want to make it clear. I think that when you articulate that, you have to have a pretty compelling argument because it's very difficult to compare Hitler to any other great leader that did good for the country. And are their country. And let me just express this as well. I mean, Hitler wasn't even the worst. Joseph Stalin was even worse than Hitler when you talk about the death toll of what he's responsible for. So when you, somebody like Kanye start to talk about these things, you got to be able to articulate and put them in perspective. And this is why I think he's going to lose a lot of people when he say certain things that he says. Now, maybe he's smarter than I am, and he knows that this is going to cause him to get a lot more attention. And maybe out of all the crazy stuff he say, he does say a lot of stuff that's profound. I mean, within the rent that he makes about Hitler, he does say a lot of things that you can say, wow, that's a pretty profound perspective that most people don't come to that conclusion about. You know, it's funny because as he says, Hitler wasn't all bad. You know, I think it's a pretty interesting comparison that I think Ye ain't all bad. But I don't think that that's let me make sure I'm clear on this. I don't think that that's a legal comparison because murdering people is different than saying crazy stuff every now and again. But I do think Ye even though people are going to throw them away and they're going to say he's the craziest man on Planet Earth and he don't deserve to have a platform. I do think some of the things that Ye says is incredibly profound.
Rapper Ye Draws Fresh Denunciation for Hitler Praise
"Oh my God. We gotta talk about Kanye West on the Alex Jones show. Man, all transparency I did not watch the particular podcast, the show. I saw clips. I saw excerpts from it. And my staff was watching it, they were looking at it and they had told me some of the things that Kanye had said, and I really feel bad for Kanye to a certain degree. Because I get what he's trying to do, I think I get where his heart is at. But the articulation of what he's thinking and what he's actually doing, they're not, they're not meeting in the middle, baby. They all, they everywhere. He said that he loved Hitler. Now let me say this. I want to put this in perspective. I think that if you say that in the context of the Bible, that would be a correct thing to say, right? You're supposed to love everybody. You post to love everybody. Even your enemies. That's what the Bible say. But in the context of expressing that to human beings. I don't think many people are gonna understand you when you say you love Hitler and then he goes on and he said that Hitler had done a lot of great things. Now, let's be honest here. You know, Hitler probably had some accomplishments that he had made, obviously he was an incredible orator that he used for bad, not for good, and he probably had some accomplishments. However, the bad counseled out everything he could have possibly done that was acceptably good. And that's just my opinion about it. Some people may disagree with me. But I don't care what freeways you build. I don't care. I would argue that people probably study him on the way he was able to communicate and influence that many people to do such evil things with our many without question. He would probably study the fact that he was able to lead like that. However, when you go and exterminate people and put them in internment camps and burn them alive and gassed them and do our kind of stuff to them because you want to purify a race of people and completely obliterate people that you don't agree with or you don't like or you don't believe is worth living, everything that you've done in your life begins to be counseled.
Bill O'Reilly: The Unknown Dangers of Fame
"Well I do want to start with this because there's been so much going on and actually this book kind of is very relatable to events going on killing the legends the lethal danger of celebrity See that happening with Kanye West among others Incredible that when people become famous their whole lives obviously change And they become targets But in ways that many don't understand So killing the legends about Elvis Presley John Lennon and Muhammad Ali all of whom changed American culture We live today in a way that is defined by these three men in part And it's an amazing historical story People said look this is your 12 killing book all the others killing Lincoln killing your rising sun Big events Now you're going into cultural history But the history is so intense and people don't understand how celebrity can destroy you if you don't understand what's going on And let me make this personal to you Mark Levin You're famous Okay Everyone knows you Everybody knows me And because of that there are benefits but there are deficits And I think you following your career over the years understood quite readily that you could not make yourself available in a casual way And so people don't know about what you do where you are you do some book signings and that kind of thing But in you correct me if I'm wrong you understand there is a danger And looking at this is true Look at Nancy Pelosi okay And you can just every you can just stare step it There are legions of famous people

"Super to ask yourselves the question ladies and gentlemen, how is it that Hillary Clinton was not charged with any of them? There didn't. There wasn't subjected to a special counsel investigation, and she is not and was not a former president. How is that possible? And I would just tell my friend Mark short, you're on CNN, bouncing around. That's the answer. We precedent. We're not charging top officials. We crimes related to documents. And unlike Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump's a former president. That's how you answer that question when you're pressed by CNN. I don't even know why you're on CNN. They have 12 viewers, and they're all hostile. And half the viewers are family members of the hosts who are all hostile. And as for your thought that it's the lawyers who can be charged for crimes, so lawyers give their opinions and they can be charged with crimes In a unique area of constitutional law, that's not even settled. Really? That's not a great answer either. You're going to have to do better than that. Are you going to be hurting your principal? Man, I happen to like. Like Pence. And in the next hour, ladies and gentlemen, I want to tell you something that's going on with the government that's being newly organized. With one of our greatest allies. And lessons that can be learned from the Republicans in the House and the Senate. Lessons that can be learned. They've already been taught by Ron DeSantis and others. Affirmative steps you take when you're in power to have the courage to act. Not the Chris Christie's and the Larry Hogan, forget about those people. They're useless. They're irrelevant. Leaders, statesmen, who help move a country in the proper direction. And one of the ideas they came up with comes straight on a blind book, Men in Black mister producer. Which we'll get to. It's easy to get wrapped up in inflation in these higher prices. Or about what moves the fed will make next, but shouldn't let that happen. Instead, focus on what you can do to control your situation

It's been three months of upheaval and is still tearing itself apart over fundamental issues, including Brexit and the economy. Now, ahead of November's midterm elections here in the United States, new polling shows, both parties have their areas of strength, Republicans starting to open up a pretty significant gap though on some of the biggest issues that motivate voters, inflation crime, issues around the economy. Though the former vice president did not testify at Thursday's hearing of the January 6th committee, his evangelical grounding, including a strong sense of morality, came through clearly via the words of close aids. It was that faith filled determination to follow his highest perception of right, despite intense pressure from president Donald Trump to try to undo the results of the 2020 election that sustained vice president Pence on January 6th, 2021. Rioters at the capitol chanted, hang Mike Pence, and at one point were essentially just around the corner from the vice president and members of his family and staff. Yet he refused to leave the capitol until the election results were finalized. What gave mister Pence the courage to stand fast? Prayer. The day began surrounded by aids, with a prayer for God's guidance. And after mister Pence and company, were whisked to safety in the bowels of the capitol, his chief council pulled out his Bible and turned to the story of Daniel in the lion's den. In Daniel 6, Greg Jacob told the committee, Daniel has become the second in command of Babylon, a pagan nation that he completely faithfully serves. He refuses an order from the king that he can not follow, and he does his duty. Consistent with his oath to God. After the drama had subsided, chief of staff Mark short, said via video, he texted his boss a passage from second Timothy. I fought the good fight. I finished the race. I have kept the faith. Ironically, mister pence's religious profile was a key reason mister Trump chose him as his running mate. To reassure the GOP's evangelical base. In the end it proved a bulwark against a presidential request that might have plunged the country into chaos. For more on Thursday's hearing, see the article in today's monitor daily by Christa case Bryant. Now today's stories. Our first story, inflation is sometimes described as too many people chasing too few goods. That's the price hike world, Americans are struggling to cope with, and a key question is how persistent the problem will be. Two days ago, Rebecca Dodson canceled her subscriptions to Netflix. Amazon Prime. And weight watchers. It's the kind of bell tightening that many Americans are facing amid the highest inflation in 40 years. I'm still in sticker shock when I film a gas tank says the Portland Oregon retiree and online Tai Chi instructor. For others, the challenge is food trying to buy a house or keeping a business afloat. Some recent polls show inflation as people's top concern and the fed is showing urgency of its own with interest rate hikes, designed to temper the consumer demand that has contributed to rising prices. If all goes well, the policy shift coupled with Americans own economic resilience will be enough to weather the storm and see it begin to diminish in the months ahead. The challenge is the range of forces at Merck. Demand. But also supply problems that span from shipping and semiconductors to the availability of workers and war affected flows of energy. Will it last months or much longer? If limited supply is the main driver, the adjustment will depend on how quickly companies can boost production. If demand is key, the adjustment could be quicker. For some consumers, it's already underway. This story was reported.

"Thompson and committee vice chair Republican Liz Cheney launched tonight's prime time hearing They included never before seen testimony from former president Donald Trump's own daughter when asked how an assessment on the election affected her perspective on the results It affected my perspective I respect attorney general Barr So I accepted what he was saying Also expected tonight live testimony from a police officer who was pummeled during the riot and from a documentary filmmaker tracking extremist Proud Boys who were leading the melee Joining us live now on Skype national journal editor in chief Jeff dufour And Jeff the hearing has been running for more than an hour now What has stood out to you so far Well they just took a break for ten minutes their first break and there was no accident that they did it this way because right before they took a break they showed a very graphic video with a lot of new footage that no one's ever seen before And it was gripping It was emotional It was raw and I'm sure a lot of people in the room are reliving what happened that day again I'm sure there's a lot of anger in the room so they took a break there And I think the other thing that really stood out is as you pointed out with Ivanka Trump it's telling how they're using the actual words the actual testimony of people from Trump's own inner circle Jason Miller his former spokesman William Barr who called Trump's theories BS Ivanka who said she believed Barr essentially Jared Kushner who said that Trump was just whining Mark short who was vice president pence's chief of staff We heard from all these people firsthand so getting to see them and hear them and saying things in a way that we've never heard his inner circle say these things before is definitely impactful Well there are several hearings to follow after tonight's and if tonight is any example do you think it will be must see TV So far I mean again this is produced by a former ABC TV producer So there is some real production value at play here Whether it's going to be must see TV the way Watergate was is another matter But vice chairman chairwoman Liz Cheney said that she's going to lay out a 7 part plan that Trump had to overthrow the election of which January 6th was a part so they'll be really a long narrative step by step if they're going to lay out over the course of all these hearings Thank you Jeff very much You bet take care That is national journal editor in chief Jeff do four who talked to us on Skype Stay with WTO for comprehensive coverage of this hearing You can also watch it live at WTO dot com.

"Mercury during the first half of his presidency, and the major side effect of mercury is depression. And he is described as having had severe depressions during those early years. So isn't that interesting? Is it another sidebar? I never knew that. Sidebar of history. So anyway, so the next day I went into my radio station, my program director went. Hey, that was interesting. We said about Trump last night. Can you give us 30 seconds for our website? Yeah, I can just distill it down. And then as I'm getting up, he goes, you know, balance it out, how about 30 seconds on Hillary, everything you want to say about her? And I went, you know, funny thing. They just released her medical record. And the care she is getting is atrocious. I have so many critiques of what the doctors were doing with her. I could tell it was the patient dictating the care. They clearly wasn't getting proper medical care. So I did 30 seconds on that. I wake up the next day, the drudge report puts out a headline, finally a doctor says she's not suitable medically for office, which is not what I said at all. And it became this viral nuts and CNN came down on me like a ton of bricks. Like a ton of bricks. That was the first time I didn't countered anything like that over there. And then a week later, we canceled the show because we had planned already to do that. And then, of course, now the viral story is see he was canceled because he had because he spoke out on Hillary, which I had neither were true. And I went back to CNN and said, how about I come on and set the record straight? I've hard feelings. This has not been a fun experience, but this whole experience with you guys has been great and I'm happy to set the record today. They're like, shut up. Just shut up. And that was never been on their sense. Was that interesting? Yeah. I do remember reading that. But you do stand by when you said in that you do think she was getting bad care, right? Oh, listen her doctors responded to everything I said as though they were interrogatories. They literally said they really and they sent her to a hematologist for a hypercoagulation workup exactly as I suggested. Because she was getting really suboptimal. She had she had two clots in her legs and a clot in her transverse sinus and her skull. That is way out coagulation abnormalities. Something is going on. And they had her on a medication. And by the way, she had a stroke as a result of the clot of her skull. That's why she wore that those glasses with the opaque thing. It's called internuclear ophthalmoplegia from the stroke, and they were giving her armor thyroid and she wasn't even formally hypothyroid. And I thought, oh, that's the patient saying I want to lose some weight or I need some energy and armor thyroid was reported. I did a literature search as causing hypercoagulation. So I was like, this is horrible medical care, and they did adjust. They just did course quite a bit, so there you go. That's going through that. Going through that was really disconcerting, all right? Disconcerting. It's terrible. It's awful. And it was one of my early experiences with shit storms. Although every time I'm on your radio show, I've come to anticipate a shit storm because you producer will take out something I said and take it out of context and push it out and then lo and behold, shit storms ensue. But I'm getting kind of almost used to it. You know what I mean? They're just so many now. And that's why I want to hear people are sort of seeing through some of this stuff. It's like, ugh. Yeah. And I feel like they're my thing with the text messages with January 6th. 6 riots. So I'm going from TV to radio. I have 6 minutes and which time I was on the air with Pete hegseth. Peter Texas covering it the rally. I go, where those people go and pee, because they go into the capitol. And I say, well, that's not going to be good. There better be security there. And I go upstairs and I go to do radio. I look up. And I see what we all have seen a million times. Yeah. So while this is going on, I do what I always do. If I want to get new information, I text newsmakers all the time. Is this true? Did this happen? Did the president really go to the basement during the riots? He goes, you will tell this on the record. You can set this straight. And I could sit there and give my show the best information. And I knew for this window, I would have great contacts. I don't know if I'm gonna have an ex presidency. Well, the next one, but I have that one. So when this happens, I text Mark Meadows, and I text, and I'll tell you, I'll text Mark short. I take care of your McEnany. What is going on? Do you understand how bad this is? I also test members of the Trump family, not Donald junior. And I said, Eric, you got to stop these guys. I go, this is this. Do you want this? He's like, absolutely not. He goes Brian. You've been to my rallies. This is not our people. Our people are violent. These are in our people. So I obviously am in the eye of the storm. Wow. Eric has never would never say something like that. For Don Junior, by the way, to say, tell my dad to get on TV or whatever he said. It shows you there was no script to that. Nobody wanted that to happen. If son who gave the keynote address during that stupid ill advised rally, if he didn't know this was happening to him was bad that shows you that actually, I think shows you Trump had no idea, but he should have hopped on TV earlier. So they exposed it, but the thing that they missed true is that I never changed my stance on January 6th. I never saw pedal that. So I went back and I pulled all the shots of me saying January 6th. Okay, how many people were there just to create havoc? Trump set it up by staying go to the capitol and be heard. And Rudy Giuliani said, basically show your muscle. And I said that my guy stopped pulling sound bites after about 15. 6 months. The weird things to me is cat brought this up the other day too, that somehow the anchors at Fox endorse that behavior or that whole January 6th. Not one of you that I've ever talked to is anything other than that was a bad, horrible thing. It was all right. The riot. Yeah, I mean, but do I think that CNN should be doing 15 minutes of every hour on it? And that's why their ratings are crater. You have never seen ratings as slow on.

No i didn't say he goes ninety million dollars in that much where we can say labor day weekend in the pandemic. It's usually a movie dead weekend. I couldn't remember what was like a big void. Biggest lebron all. Yeah it was. That's why i was asking during a pandemic that feels pretty successful. No it was fine. I he loved so on. Who the hell knows i i. I don't know what else going on half the time but it was entertaining enough. I suppose they've ruined the movie business. Who's at marvel. Yeah let's scorsese says right. Yeah yeah yeah. I've never really understood the argument. I'm sort of more than the george lucas. I that argument. I guess the idea is that make movies to make sequels not trying to move in that then that satisfies a certain audience like getting in the way of of Pick david fincher or trying to think of the woman directed little women I bet those will make a lot of garlic. Yeah i bet those make a lot less money now because that's what people go to the theaters for marvel. People fast and furious always went to the theaters. For that is. I mean since since came out. They went to the theaters for that. But now i feel like it's gets in the way. There are so many of those that there are i. Don't what's the next nomad land with me. Three hundred million if it wasn't for a marvel movies teenage children. Let's go attack no matter well. What's the last artistic made of hard. The only reason it's hard to say it now is just because the last couple years messa right back and look but you know and the other thing now is like streaming of so many of these movies. That's that's the other big issue like you know. your fears. marriage story went to netflix. First and then the. Here's the same time though. Adam driver and scarlett johansson like fifteen years ago. That would have been like twenty million twenty five million than we've been nominated for oscar. So you're right that it's hard but lucas argument was well. You know The success of jaws and then star wars built so many movie theaters across the country that you know oftentimes when none of these movies were playing. They had to play these other movies as well. So i do. You think gave those people some life to i i. I don't know. I don't know where stand on that one. I just like mardi say. Nah fucking like yeah. But he's right. I mean his argument is that they're a would say they were like Art not with them. I'm blanking on the amusement park rides. Yeah which is what they are but what these kids are like fifteen. Focus harry's supposed to go watch you know. I go watch fucking some the searing drama like i know of but i don't remember that when we were kids were every week. It was a superhero movie. Coming out we. It was a more diverse group. Your martineau marvel's totally to your point. It's just all on streaming now like the diverse aspect to it like my wife. Maybe watch that stupid. Steve martin show. That was really good really very funny. Those very funny. I skipped you kind of want to see steve martin. It's a little hokey but it's actually not bad. I agree always a very good series. Like natural person with his son there These ask gets a good scene. Like i don't want whacky martin short. I don't need that my wife anymore. Angry that was my fear. When i saw selena gomez i was like i was going to be something where like she teaches them at a day. And so i think she's. I'm so i'm old. So like you said to me who is selena gomez. I would say. I saw her in the ramona movies with kate when she was a kid. Like i have no idea what a career is. I know she's famous issues with justin bieber right but i don't know anything about her music. Nothing i she's she music right. That's how old i am. I have no. I couldn't tell you one fucking song like so. She has no baggage from when she's on the show. You know right. No baggage. Either early but i thought it was like a mix of hey. Your generation is with the old. That'd be crazy. yeah. I don't know yeah. It doesn't it. Doesn't i think it's the greatest show ever knows a little hokey for like the older crowd. Yes i would say that but calling so cool. i don't know i just. I don't know just relative to your show twenty-five minutes it's easy. It's a new one tonight. Yeah the other. One i watched was started to as white lotus. And you watch that yet. "mark short" Discussed on KOMO
"Biden administration is suspending oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The Department of Interior says the Trump administration rushed the January 6th auction and did not follow proper procedures. Now. Taylor van Size continues his conversation with Damian Paletta, who works as an editor for The Washington Post. He obtained 866 pages of emails from Dr Anthony Fauci through the Freedom of Information Act. Sent and received in March and April of 2020. Dr. Fauci was getting bombarded at the time with e mails from around the world and staying up until we hours of the morning, responding to his many as he could. This seemed like a person. You know he was getting emails from the NFL Players Association asking advice. On reopening this season, he was getting questions from members of the military asking about how they should protect troops. You tried to respond to everything. But you know the sheer volume of incoming questions and the scope of the confusion that was out There was just a lot for this doctor. And you know, obviously, things kind of slow down a little bit. And may June before the virus kind of picked it momentum again. But clearly during this moment, he was really inundated. And you have to wonder how much longer he could have kept it up. Finally, just from I guess, because you work your your primary function at the Post is as an editor, right? That's right. So as an editor, it's kind of a funny story. How these emails came about. So I'm writing a book with one of my His colleagues. He has me never tell us about the White House's response to the pandemic, and the book comes out at the end of this month in June, And so we had files The Freedom of Information Act request last year, thinking that you know we could get a lot of material for the book, and we didn't get these emails until the book was already locked up and being sent To the printers. So you know, even though it couldn't be used for the book, we thought this material is just too newsworthy too important to not give it to readers. And so that's why we were kind of really hard. Over the span of a week or two to get it ready and package it in this way. Absolutely So, you know, it's enough material, maybe for volume two of the book, But I wondered, though, just sitting there as as the editor working through all these e mails How heavily redacted were these documents? You know? Did it leave you with Mork Questions after the factor? Was it pretty open? No, it's a great question. There were certainly some moments where the redactions just made us kind of like count if it's on the table and You know, I mean, there was, for example, in pouches email exchange with Marc Short, who's Pence's chief of staff, You know mark there was clearly some kind of mixed signals between the two men. This happened on Saturday. Before Easter on April 11 And if you remember President Trump wanted to reopen the whole economy on April 12th, which is Easter Sunday, and obviously the president decided not to do that at the time. But there was some kind of weird mixed signal between Fauci and Mark Short Pence's chief of staff, and so the key part of that exchange is redacted and looks like it was just a sentence or two. Wow. We would have liked to have seen what was in that because Mark short apologizes in the email for his quote unquote poor poker face construction clearly picked up on something during a meeting. And you know, we would have loved to have known more about that. So you know, we're not giving up. I've already found more freedom of information Act Request. Try to get more information. You know, this could be just the beginning on guys think this is a really valuable tool for leaders use your government officials. Their correspondence is public record, and we have a right to obtain it and kind of go through it. And so hopefully this is just the beginning of what will be a more complete picture of the government's response during this crazy period of our history. Damian Paletta from The Washington Post with Cuomo's Taylor van size the book he's working on. Nightmare scenario.
