But i was actually really impressed with everything you know i it off youtube lot in a bit twitch and i you know four pack days of announcements and panels and fireside chats and and some of the hosts analysis of it all. Run out of iPhone storage? Here's what to do

"You know there's nothing more frustrating as a smartphone owner. Especially if you have an iphone and to snap some pictures or download an app or download a movie only to get the prompt that you have run out of storage that typically triggers the process of going to your settings and storage then digging around for all the apps that are taking up all this space that you don't use anymore c. can delete them or just looking through old picks that maybe you save for year two and thinking. I've already back these up. I need to get these off my phone joining us. Now is usa today tech columnist. Mark saltzman to help us free up some space on our iphones and ipads mark. Thanks for being here. and thanks. For having me brent goods chat with you so your new column available on dot. Usa today dot com breaks down your options by good better and best. So let's start with the good. What's the good way to free up storage on your phone sure. It's a good way to do it because it's free and you don't need the internet But it can be a bit cumbersome to do so what i'm referring to is connecting your iphone or ipad to a computer. It could be a pc or a mac with the charging cable that you get in the box and manually dragging and dropping all your photos and videos onto your computer's hard drive so that you can delete it then from your iowa device you can do it wirelessly to with airdrop if you do have a mac. But if i'm sure most of the readers out there are and listeners to talking tech or on a windows just statistically so you would need that cable. The problem is at it. I said it's cumbersome because not only do you have to find the folder within the iphone called d. im which is just like a smartphone cameras like memory card or smartphone or a regular cameras memory card. But you have to. It doesn't always work when you try to copy them over. Sometimes there's stubborn files that won't copy but it is an offline and free way to do it so that once they're backed up you can then delete them off your phone and free up valuable space to download more apps or shoot more four k or a k video and so on and so forth you can do that for android by the way as well but for iphone when you there's no expandable storage not the best way but it is an option and it's free so of course if you don't want to deal with the hassle of plugging in your phone or tablet another computer or you're just out and about and you you're not near your computer. You always have the option to save to the cloud right right so the second way to free up storage on your iphone or ipad is to leverage cloud services. So whether it's wi fi or cellular if you have a healthy data plan is that you can set it up to every time you take a photo or shoot a video at wirelessly backs up a copy to the cloud. So with apple's own icloud for example. It does work very seamlessly but keep in mind. You will have to pay if it is over data if you don't have a great plan And then even if you do it for free over wi fi at home you're still limited to five gigabytes of storage for free and that's going to run out pretty quickly. I suspect if you like to take a lot of photos videos specially videos because they're larger files so you can pay for more You know by buying a couple of gigabytes a month or even a terabyte or two if you like but once just know that like every other subscription service once you stop paying your. You're done you know you won't be able to access all those files. Plus you're going to need the internet access in order to access those cloud stored photos and videos as well so few are on a vacation. And you wanna look at the photos that you just captured in your on an airplane will. You're going to have to pay for wi fi to access your cloud storage photos. So it's not a perfect solution but it's a convenient one and it's also ideal if you wanna share those memories with someone that you're not with physically you can send them a link to download them off icloud so it is convenient and there are other services to dropbox and one drive and so on but it's still a good alternative to a backing up through your computer so of two options. Neither of these are the best option when it comes to looking to offload your photos videos apps to get more storage space. What should listeners consider. Okay so both online and an offline solution is your best bet is to hedge your bets but in my opinion the best way to do it is with these specialty. Thumb drives that are now available that snap into the bottom of your iphone or ipad. It automatically launches an app and then it will copy over everything over to your drive. It looks at what's new So if anything's been changed or new or is brand new to your device than automatically makes a copy off to the thumb drive. There's a couple on the market. There's one that just debuted on the seventeenth and it's called the sandisk. I expand locks l. u. x. e. and on one end of this small little thumb. Drive is a lightning connector. So that will plug into the iphone and some ipads than on the other. End is a usb connector. So that will plug than into a pc a mac or ipad pro ipad air. The new the new ones and it will that way you can transfer back and forth but you by the amount of storage you need in. There's no monthly subscription costs or anything prices. Start at forty nine dollars for sixty four gigs. And then it goes all the way up to eighty nine for two hundred and fifty six gigs. And then there's also a one twenty eight version but the ideas that you can easily back up to the thumb drivers a little loop to keep it on your key chain and not only. Here's one of those sort of lesser known features of these. Little drives is that you can load this up with a with photos a movies. Tv shows and songs and then snap into your ipad or iphone and access them right off the drive itself. So you don't even have to install it on the phone or tablet so it's another sort of convenience secondary feature of these little drives so again Sandisk has one that. I really liked but there are other companies that make them to

Apps to Make This Valentine's Day Your Best One Yet

"Friend and colleague mark saltzman tier and he has some recommendations to have technology. Help solve this. Valentine's day dilemma. Hey jen thanks for having me back on the show so you have a recent column that is appearing on tech dot usa today dot com about valentine's day. What did you find out you know. I know it's a dated expression that there's an app for that but there are so many apps that can help you prep and celebrate valentine's day for this weekend and that includes when you've got a partner already and you just want to spice up the weekend or if you're in search for one so part of the app ground up which we're not going to get to right now is a look at some dating apps like okay. Cupid and what they found with their members that a lot more open to long distance relationships in virtual dating as you might expect to keep up with the times at least to start which which i think is interesting. I wouldn't want to be single during a pandemic. So i feel for those looking for love at the wrong time but the app said i looked at include of course flour so there's a lot of different apps that you can use. Pro flowers for ios and android is one of the more popular because their prices aren't crazy. We all know you pay through the nose for flowers especially around this time of year including delivery and they throw in like a vase or vase depending on where you're listening to this or a pot if you decide to order a plant they throw that in and there's a lot to choose from and you just put in your zip code and they'll tell you how quickly can get teased. May not be too late if you're listening to this before february fourteenth but a good app to your phone anyways because you can be anywhere and within a couple of tops order something to your significant other and it doesn't have to be just valentine's day so pro flowers was one that i recommended acknowledging that we may not be going to restaurants this valentine's day to clink glasses over a restaurant table. You may be ordering in so at least you don't have to cook with services like uber eats and other food delivery services so suggesting to give that one a spin. Your mate may not love getting you know. Pop is or burger king. c may want to look for nicer option not to slam any potential sponsors of talking tech. But you know if you're going to cork some wine you'll you'll you'll even see where the driver is on their way so you can time everything and of course contactless delivery in twenty twenty. One is good. They've got your credit card information on file so they'll just leave it on the step. Notify you when it's available so those were a couple and then one more is to create a sentimental slide show with photo's as as a nice sort of virtual valentine's day card better than something you could buy at retail i'd argue and there are a lot of different apps that will take your photos and videos and auto magically make a slide show for you including narration if you want to add it or a lot music and i'm referring to one actually in the article called quick without the sea so q. u. i k. it's actually owned by gopro and it's a free download for android and it. Lets you select the photos and videos or you can let it do. Its thing and it will create a sentimental slide. Show for you as set to music. There's one hundred and free songs included or you can add your own music if you like and then send it to your a partner or you can do it privately or posted to social media. So that's that's great. Because it does a lot of the heavy lifting for you and exports it in ten eighty quality with sixty frames per second buttery smoothness so those are a couple of apps that i thought were great for valentine's day.

How to get the most out of your Apple Watch

"Hey there listeners. Mike schneider and i'm brett molina and welcome back to talking tech so bread. I'm driving and apple. Watch for some upcoming coverage we've got coming and i found a very helpful story right here on tech that usa today dot com it trittin buyer pal and colleague mark saltzman about some cool tips and tricks with the apple watch. Yeah it's definitely a good story for myself personally. It's very timely. Because a couple of months ago. I bought an apple watch myself. I had held out from buying one for the longest time and then decided with the price going down and they also introduced the model which ended up picking up. It hit that sweet spot of a good price and a lot of really good features. So i figured alright. I'm diving in so i've dive in. I'm still learning about it. And i've learned quite a bit from marks column one of the recommendations that i've added into my bag of tricks is the ability to adjust the onscreen tech size. Which as you get older a very convenient thing to have so the way you do it is when you're on the apple. Watch home screen. You go to settings and then you scroll down to where it says display in brightness once you get there has an for tech size then what you do is just tap the larger or smaller icon until you get a font size that you like so obviously can use it to decrease it increase the brightness of of the screen as well. Yeah i was test driving to before we started recording i increase. The text is a bit and you can also bold it and that really helped me the other ways. It's helped me is just just like your case. It's a good read for someone who maybe just got an apple watch as a holiday gift. It helps you. Learn the parts of the watch. What they're called. I would not have thought the button on the side is called digital crown. So that helped me because when you're getting advice and suggestions and control things to do with the watch you gotta know what that is or you're to be lost right away one tip. I bet i'll use a lot as a functions to help you find your iphone. You can use your watch. It'll ping your phone so kind like some of those remote controls have with. I think roku has a remote control thing that that you can ping it got your watch. You can't find your phone so you swipe up from the bottom of your main clock to open control center and here you'll see a ping icon. Which looks like an iphone ringing. Just tap this and it prompts. Sure i phoned emitted noise and then you make like tracker and find it s someone who also loses phone a lot. That's actually a nice to have to try that out too. So he also points out to other quick ways that you mute the apple watch which will definitely be handy if you're in a in a zoo meeting or you're doing something where you need to kind of keep the apple watch quiet Basically what you can do is swipe up from the bottom. Just like you do on an iphone to open up the control center where you have different functions that you can get to really quickly like a calculator things like that in this case if you open up the control center on the apple watch you'll tap an icon. That looks like a bell. And when you tap that you'll see it turn red with a slash across the middle. That means that it's now in silent mode so you'll still receive haptic notifications like the vibrations. That will you'll feel on your wrist as opposed to beeps that. Come off the watch but it's just a way to kind of silence the phone if you need to. There's also this really cool covered. Immune option where you basically just hold your hand over the watch face for a few

"We're going to discuss repurposing an old tablet or old. Old smartphone that you may have in a drawer in a closet, maybe in a box somewhere? Obviously, it's great if you can hand it down or donate it to a charity or community, center or Church, or what have you, but if you choose to keep it? Maybe you're concerned about your data being exposed. Even if you think you delete everything for whatever your reasons, if you decide to keep it, you can't put it to good use, so I've got six ideas. Ideas on how to repurpose your old tablet or smartphone for free all right. The first thing you can do is turn an old tablet or smartphone into a video surveillance camera. All you need is an APP like presence by a company called. People, power, and then you plug in that old ipod or that all android phone somewhere in your home, maybe near where your kids play, or your pets are, and you install that APP plug into the wall. Point the camera. Camera somewhere and now on the smartphone that you do use, you can install that same APP signed into the same account, and now wherever life takes you, you can keep an eye on your kids or your belongings at home again it's called presence, and that is a fun and free way to turn an old tablet or smartphone into a free video camera just uses your Wifi another good use for your old tablet would be to create a digital photo frame on. A download any number of free APPs one is called. Pick play post, and you can load it up with photos and videos. Plug it into the wall. Place it on a table somewhere on a countertop, or if you're ambitious, enough mounted to the wall like a picture frame and just hide the cables. Buy Fishing it through Drywall, and now you've got a digital photo frame that can cycle through your memories or better yet give it as a gift to maybe an ageing relatives who may not be so tech savvy and have them place it down on a table somewhere, and it can cycle through photos and some of those free apps. Let you remotely update those. Those photos from where you live, so that's a good idea is to turn an old tablet into a digital photo frame. The third idea is alarm clock. A lot of us do bring our smartphones or tablets to our bedside, maybe on table, but why not have one there all the time? You can prop it up with the case from your local dollar store and install one of the many different alarm clock ABS- many will play radio stations through that APP or your favorite music that's stored there or other streaming services something to wake up to, or you can customize the alarm sound, and of course the alarm funds the colors the style. He could play podcast. podcast so turning an old smartphone or tablet into an alarm clock is a practical idea. Fourth idea is to turn an old tablet into a recipe book, so download one of the many different apps that exist where you can adron recipe, or you can just search through them and keep that in the kitchen. Keep it in a pantry. What have you and that will have all your recipes digitally stored with photos and the ability with many of those APPs to change the number of servings? It'll automatically adjust all the measurements for you on the fly. Another idea is a TV remote. If you've got a smart TV, it may support those remote APPs were now. You've. You've got those large buttons that you can use your tablet or smartphone TV remote, and keep it on the coffee table at all times, and that is your big screen TV remote for controlling your Dvr, and all your cable and your streaming services, and all that from that one place, the sixth and final idea for repurposing old smartphone or tablet is for backup storage, so you can plug it into a computer, and it'll show up as a new drive letter on your pc or Mac, and now you just simply take your mouse to drag and drop important files onto that old tablet or smartphone. Put Away for safekeeping so just in case, something happens to your. This is an offline drive. This is like having an external hard drive or a USB stick, but it is stored inside of that smartphone or tablet. Should you need it so

"Get to that. It is Thursday. It is one twenty and you know, what that means machines are getting smarter. This is tech talk. Brought to you by sky net. Mark Saltzman joins us tax columnist for USA today and overall tech Google celebrated in Canada and the United States as well and really globally. In that order big in Japan. Yeah. I wayne. Hi, shannon. How you guys do? Hi, how are your yelp reviews? Galactically, though, exactly you guys having fun guy. Sound like it? I know you're while Gary's away the mice will play. That's right. That's exactly right. We don't know if somebody's gonna pull the plug on this Mark this makes for great radio. Love it. Well, why don't you smart us up with our Taqtaq here? Tell us about the new galaxy. Sure, so it's actually a family of products that are available now from Samsung, you probably heard about the galaxy S ten families actually four to choose from because why not confuse everybody. So there's the the main galaxy S ten which is a great all around phone. It's just over six inches for nine hundred bucks. Then there's the galaxy S ten plus which has a few more bells and whistles and extra camera. And that's about one hundred dollars more for those on a tighter budget. There's the s ten e a slightly smaller device with a little bit less horsepower at seven fifty. And then there is a five. Five G version, if you're a T mobile customer, so leveraging these upcoming sort of faster wireless speeds that you may want. So there's a lot to choose from. But the bottom line is that they're really well received critically. And I think there's I've had my hands on them for a few weeks now that the ten plus especially the S ten plus, and it's a it's a heck of a phone. It's got a beautiful screen as I mentioned with no notch. So I know all the apple out there. They make fun of that little notch at the top of the iphone. This has just like a little cutout for the front facing cameras. It's got five cameras. In fact, two two on the front if you've got the ten plus for just one for the other ones, and then three on the back for all kinds of depth sensing wide angle zoom and all that it's got an ink in finger display in screen finger display. I should say so what that means is you don't have a special place to put your thumb you just put on the screen and under the under the glass it will recognize that. It's you and then finally wireless charging reverse wireless charging. So you can drop down another phone on top of. This thing, and it'll charge it up for your buddy. Who maybe is who needs a boost on their device? So all around great devices that probably the best Samsung has ever come out with and again, really awesome cameras for sure is it good enough to leave the apple ecosphere. It's a great question. It's kind of apples and oranges. If you're used to apple and you love the the IOS operating system. The they're easy really easy to use those phones apple iphones are real easy to use in a really great apps store, Android, which is the operating system that drives the Samsung devices and all the other ones they have some other benefits. There's more customization you can do more. If you're a little bit geeky like yours, truly, you can really change the way the entire phone looks and operates. You're not told like, here's your mail. And here's your calendar. It's up for up to you to choose what you want. That's not for everyone. I also like with Andrew you can do split-screen screen early. So you can snap like a web browser open on top of the Samsung phone and on the bottom, you've got a video playing you can't do that on iphone. There's benefits, you know. I'm an Android guy. I'll be honest with you. But it's not it's not for everyone. I would say that out of all the Android phones. The Samsung ones are these easiest to use. But yeah, it's I think it really will give apple a run for their money this year. But if you're if you're a die hard, apple you're part of the sheep if you will. You're not you're not moving. Do you know what they say about your brain? I don't think it's true. But they say you only use ten percent of it or whatever I felt that way when I had an Android. I felt like I was only doing like three percent of what the Android could do. You know? I felt like it was there were so many things I wasn't taking advantage of right that I went back to the being an apple sheep. We'll let me let me ask you something about since you wanna now Throwdown. I guess a little bit. The S ten line in better shape to get updates to Android right away compared to other models of phones because the one downside of Android is you buy Android phone. And then you may not get updates to that operating system. Great question. So it is often tied to your carrier. Unfortunately, there are the gatekeepers and that is one of the issues with Android. Samsung claims that you're going to get with this new platform this new OS new refresh of the Android. You're going to get updates more regularly, and you're gonna want them, and they're going to be pushed out automatically, which is something that that they do need working. It's funny because my wife, and I both have a Samsung device, but different ones and we're on the same carrier. But she got this new update. The software update that I don't have yet. And she's had it for like five days. It's weird. Like, even if you're we're on the same with the same manufact-. Sure on the same carrier. We don't get the same updates. So there does need to be a little bit more streamlining? They're all hands of that. And I call a truce. There you go Wayne there. And then finally Mark looks like our access to retro video games is expanding. And nothing says the I like playing one of the games you played as a kiddo. Right. Like pacman? I liked how you were saying earlier new retro games. That's an oxymoron right like jumbo shrimp. Exactly. Deafening. Silence. There you go. Okay. I'll stop there. But yeah, it is true. There are new ways to get your nostalgic gaming fix. And I wrote about this for USA today. Eight today, please allow myself to introduce myself. So if you're on a.

How to get free audio and e-books from the library

"Talking tech is brought to you by wicks dot com. With wicks, you can use artificial design intelligence to create a stunning website right from your phone in five minutes or less. Just go to wicks dot com. That's w. i. x. dot com. And create your professional website today. E books are one of the great joys of being digital. There's so many to choose from, but they can be expensive. Our friend Mark Saltzman who is a USA today columnist end the host of the syndicated radio show and podcast tech it out is with us, but Mark's gonna tell us about how to get e books for free or no little to no cost. Yeah. Sharon are free whether it's e books or audio books, and there's one of two ways to do it. One is to use overdrive which is an app or built into many e-readers like Kobo whereby you just type in your library card inside of the overdrive area of the Kobo e book reader or the app, and you can rent books for free you. It's a borrow books. I should say from your local library just as you would do in person, but you don't have to drive to the library and nor do you have to return it on time or face any overdue charges. But the process is the same. You reserve a book and then digitally you can read it on your Facebook reader. Or on a nap on a tablet or a smartphone or a laptop, and then when it is it, would it does expire. It just stops working unless you renew it. That's one way is to use overdrive Jefferson from the same company. Overdrive is a standalone app called Libby l. i. double b. y. and that's their way to borrow books for free from your local library or audio books. And this would need you just download the free app to your favorite IOS or Android device or windows. You log in again with your library card, and then you allow the app or your device rather to find your local libraries and you just punch in your library card once and then you can borrow books and audiobooks for free, and that also works with kindles. If you do have supported kindle, you can click a button inside Libyan. Have that book pushed that e book pushed to the supported kindle either way you're talking about borrowing books for free so you don't have to pay for them. They do include New York Times bestsellers, and other newer titles, not just the classics. And then when they do expire, you don't have to go. Anywhere pay any overdue fees, it's it's great. What what is the average length of typically sent? Seven? Fourteen days depending on the library depending on the book and often you can renew it before it expires. In other cases, somebody else has requested it. So it's as if it was a physical copy because the library pays for certain number of them, you would probably, you know, for the tech savvy listeners are probably scratching their head thinking, it's just zeros and ones. Why can't you just make an unlimited? Well, that's how they prevent piracy. There is some DRM digital rights management embedded here so that you can't just duplicate these books in freely shared them with the internet or audio book. So they it is a reservation system, but you just don't have to physically go to the library anymore. How is the selection? Because there's there's tons of of of e books, audio books that you can get on Amazon. Now, from authors, you never heard of or stuff this in the public domain. How current is the selection? Yeah, it's decent if there is a, as I mentioned a lot of the. Bestseller lists that you would read in USA today or the New York Times, many of those same books are available and to a lesser extent. Many of those same audio books are available for all the the current bestsellers. If you're willing to read something from year or two ago or a decade ago, but still big names like James, Patterson, Stephen King, or what have you, then you're still gonna find a decent selection. So it's look. It's not like you're walking into a Barnes and noble or a orders or or shopping on Amazon, where you have a huge, huge selection. If you're willing to trade a bit of selection for the convenience of being able to borrow a book without having to physically go to a library, you will not be disappointed. All right. So go to overdrive download the app and then key in your local library. Put in your card in your good. That's basically it either overdrive or the Libby app. And if you do have one of the Cobos that support overdrive built in, then you don't need the app at all. If you wanna read it on your Kobo reader for kindle, it also works with Libby. Already. Mark Saltzman is a USA day columnist. "The Portuguese educational system used to be really good up until the nineteenth and ever since is just been in decline. You doing that thing where you say it was all fantastic until you lift school. And since then it's been all downhill. Andrew. I didn't leave school in the ninety. S. Sorry to break into you. Every everybody had left school by them, no, but sin, Portugal, there's very simple. We had a dictatorship up until seventy four after that. We'll freedom money for everything finally and then realize actually can't really overspend an indication took the biggest hits and has been ever since and we can't really compare like even when I was in school, which you know it wasn't in the ninety s was way closer to two. Now I can tell the difference of the program today, and I think it's massively what contributes to Portugal's performance on this on this rating and also health, the health system, which it's it's a public health system. We, we don't have a private healthcare as the standard and norm, which is great. But silly, there's a load of various where it could improve Thomas in Canada, your home country, the United Kingdom ranks thirty first Canada ranks eleventh. What do you think Canada's still needs to do to make up those. Ten places on Finland. I think you know lots of the touch points that Marcus disgust for Finland, I think sort of ring true for Canada as well. Obviously, Canada geographically is absolutely enormous. I think you'd have to sort of check me on this, but I think geographically, it's the the largest country in the world. And I think our such, you know, the population does not match that. I think we're about population by thirty five million. Again, someone should fact check that. But I think when you look at sort of the the, the quality of life in terms of being outdoors in terms of sort of, you know, food and drink in the way that kind of sort of filters into sort of people's daily routines that being outside. If you're on the sort of the Pacific coast or if you're here on -tario or if you're in sort of the mountains of Quebec, you know, there's a real huge variety. I'm from a very young age hockey, for example, that sort of sewn into most children kind of going out on a lake or some imprompt you kind of rink somewhere. You know, I think I kinda is growing in credit. Pretty quickly and the the diversity of the population is changing incredibly quickly too. So I wonder how that will sort of impact. Actually the way that notions of quality of life is sort of characterized in this ranking kind of change over the years to come because I think you know, Canada likes to Bill office a collaborative place that does take influences from those people move here to call it home. So I think it's a sort of a moving picture, but quite sort of a positive one really. Well. Finally, tonight a resolution of sorts to a hardy perennial of online discourse, the relationship status of Sesame Street characters, Bert, and Ernie last week, forma Sesame Street writer, Mark Saltzman reignited the debate by stating that he always wrote Burton Ernie as a loving couple, the sesame workshop countered that as puppets. The game is quite simple. I share a quote from the week, you all have to guess who said that or get the story it refers to or get a key word or get close or just wait until I give you enough clues to figure it out. I'm not a stickler Sam. Good. Yeah, I am. I've never been good at this game. Already in the lead fun thing about this game. It doesn't matter if you're good enough because the winner gets absolutely nothing. Nice. You guys ready for the first quote? Yes, yeah, you can tell me who said you can tell me what I'm just get close. It is ready quote, even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human trait characteristics as most Sesame Street Muppets do they remain puppets and do not have a sexual orientation Ernie and Bert. Yes, yes. So very, got it more technically correct. Aren't you got the keywords I should see Arnie's face that's city. I we both. Got it right. We were. We were building on each other's corrected. Yeah, there was a mind meld here in DC. Yeah, I'm gonna give you both half a point. Thank you. Okay. Point point. Okay. So this quote comes from sesame workshop. This is the company that makes Sesame Street, the iconic children's a puppet show. They were responding to new speculation over whether to Sesame Street characters who happen to live together Burton Ernie speculation over whether or not they're gay. This all came about because Mark Saltzman who wrote a bunch of episodes for the show for more than thirteen years in a recent interview, he said that when he wrote for the characters, he thought of Bert and Ernie as gay that led to all of the internet getting into fights over whether these to puppets are gay. It was finally sesame workshop who makes the show was like. They're a sexual this debate heaps happening. Remember when the supreme court legalized gay marriage, the cover the New Yorker, yes, it was underneath shorthand head on their shoulders watching the ruling that cover again. Can I just tell you how to me at least this sesame workshop statement feels so hypocritical because they're sitting here saying, well, burden. Ernie don't have a sexual orientation. Meanwhile, you got criminal in MS piggy making out onscreen. Yeah, going from breakup to make ups every other episode right there. Clearly sexual also eighty. Your child is clearly a gay icon. I just can't wait. Could why did they? I mean, I don't mean to be don't ask, don't tell about it, but why do we have to address it? Like why. I just don't wanna see it that what you say at all, you know? Yeah. And there's so much background here. I mean, there is the person who's writing the character saying this at the same time originally they were based off of Jim Henson and his best friend, right? Which was a platonic relationship that we know about their relationship. Oh, well, that's a good point. As far as we know it was talk. Yeah, I, it just seems to me like, couldn't we allow it to be roommates for one person and longtime partner for another like it couldn't it be wanted to Sesame Street, right? That's the kind of the point of stories you get to imagine what you want. Yes. Also, Bert, Ernie if you're listening, I'm with you whatever the case you be you. That's right. This game is tied one all ready for the next quote. Yes, we're actually going to play the tape of this one here who said, thank you..

"So what she's talking about is Mark Saltzman was a writer for Sesame Street and Bert, internee specifically saying, I always felt that without a huge agenda. When I was reading Burton Ernie, they were gay. I didn't have any other way to contextualized them though. He happens to be gay. Also. This is why that started that the writer of Bernie said that they were gay, then that game mazing then very, let miss piggy used to hit on what frogger what's his face all the time. And she would sexually harass him. We knew she was straight as problematic. Saltzman added the relationship between Bernie merit, his relationship with his longtime partner on, no, you wanna say on, then you think about two beds. That sad died in two thousand three, but that's interesting. Ernie Arnold. Honestly, like think about how hard it would have been to be like a gated in a committed relationship at that point in time. And then you have this thing where you're like kind of subtly sending a message to other people like it's not weird to like now. It's funny because it wouldn't be where to all like I'm going to have probably like a female roommate until I'm like thirty five, like all the dudes. I know live with dudes like not even anything like sometimes their gaze, sometimes they're straight like, you know, but what did Bernie do for a living because they weren't comic. So why are these grove adults? That's actually a really, really good point and a sick burn. That's fair. I probably wouldn't feel. To ruin. It's if I wasn't. I. So Arnie is the Bert character Arnie had OCD would create friction in the house, and that's the way he felt that dynamic between the Burton Ernie would go, of course, you know, Ernie was the jokester muppet. That's what I had in my life and Burton Ernie the burner relationship. How could it not permeate? The things that would took off Arnie wouldn't be the things would be the things because me would be the things that would take up. Bert, Sesame Street says, puppets do not have any sexual orientation ain't panic. They're like whereabout to lose all are Christians. This cannot happen like they freaked. God that's Frank is is the main guy behind the the Muppets. It seems Mr. Mark Saltzman he wrote on Twitter was asked of Burton. Ernie are gay. I soon as you start with Mr. Saltzman I'm like, what you have not been calling Mr. Saltzman this whole time, it's fine that he feels that they are l. boy, they're not of course, but why the question doesn't really matter why the need to the fine. People as only gay that somebody who sees straight people in the media all the time where they're like, why this need to label people gay? It's like because we have nobody likes. We need our heroes even if it's Burton earning, please, there's much more to a human being than just straightness or gain this. Yeah, we know one of the stick up is asked one was a little jokester. We know there's other things to them. Yeah, we've been college in other things about Burton Ernie. Also, the implication that's like how a lot of people think unfortunately about characters in general, is that if it's a character's gay, then that's their defining attribute. That's how they're describing the script. That's how Papa. And so it's like then that takes away from everything else Bernie are and it's like, it shouldn't. Right. What is matter if they're, I don't know, why didn't I have to come out to my parents and say, yeah, like does matter. Yeah. Having seen love Simon, it matters this person, Tom rates. Why are they not not arguing us? Just wondering. He said he wrote it from that point of view and Franks's I created Bert. I know what in. Who he is. Do you know what size Dickey as you didn't even begin to think about it, but you put a shirt on him earth l. let's to win you. So when you're dressing up your dolls, do you think about, are they wearing stripes? Did you think about what size head is? It's okay. The puppet version of like it's cool, but just like not around me. Why do you throw that in my FIA this person read rights, you may have created him Frank, but you don't seem to realize appreciate that what he means to thousands of little boys growing up you digging in your heels wrongly, conflicting romantic orientation was sexual orientation with what seems like disgust is what's disappointing and France's..

"I'm just repeating myself because I pasted in here twice. So that's it for that. Edry. Thank you very much beach body. We're going to be fit astronauts while I guess you're haven't astronauts at that point, right? You still aren't trouble stars. They don't mean nothing to do the training to I be. mean, just the just because you get on a plane and go to Vegas with the weekend. It doesn't make you a pilot. Yeah, pilot and astronaut somebody could pie. And that's not so somebody just travel pilot is the pilot. There's an astronaut's who are pilots and there's astronauts who are scientists. Good point. But I mean not at that point though, are we just going to refer to the human collective as astronauts? No. Can we call star children? You won't need to refer. You won't need a term for it because everyone is one. We are human babies. There's a, there's a great video came out recently. I would baby, but they talk about the likelihood of us actually building a moon base, and there is like a possibility if you base it on sort of human evolution through the years of like sort of copping. Like what we did with the new world that we can keep that system going, where we actually mind the moon for stuff. It will keep the moon alive, but if not, well, di- Jose yet figure how to make it profitable, not profitable. It's never gonna happen. I saw. I plan to bowl tourism for sure, but it's all planned to build the world's largest nuclear fission plant Nastase planning to do that. Yeah, on the moon. Which makes a lot of sense. Yes, absolutely. There's no fall out. But yeah, you get that energy to get the power back to their then. I mean, it also makes a lot of sense to colonize. These, you know, offer site for if there's in case there's fallout on earth. Absolutely like, so it's like, what are we doing there? I mean, well, there's on earth. We're not doing anything. I mean, that's that's gone Musk's he's, he said from the beginning that his whole project is based around multi planetary humanities as a smoke was not bleeding. And so that way, like if something does go wrong on earth, the human species can continue being based elsewhere space. Travel is easy. All you have to do. He's right. All you have to do to a galaxy where there's a bunch of ships attacking a freighter. And then once you clear out the ship's you get on the freighter and the guy, I'll be like, I'm tired at take it and you'll take it the minute. Be class freighter, no man's sky. Household item, tired of this no-man's Scott weekly, three games though. Oh, well, that's all the news from the stars. Let's bring it back to a little place called planet earth where Bernie are officially gay wasn't that assumed? I thought it was already. He's always assume so. Quote. So this is from a news story on, I believe TMZ. Oh. So dirty were walking down Hollywood Boulevard wrote over inside each other. So little little retrospective. They have been living together since nineteen sixty nine Mark Saltzman who started working on Sesame Street in nineteen Eighty-four says, he always wrote them as a gay couple says. He wrote them as a reflection of his own life, but he said he was never trying to push an agenda which I would say, right which you know which makes sense. So his thing was, he's like, I'm gay. I'm going to write a. It's basically the relationship I have with my partner and I was like, oh, that's kind of kind of cool. He and his partner. One time had a Christmas where he went to get his partner of box to store all of his whatever paper clips, but then the other one excellently trade it all his paper Clinton could get the Christmas Eve on Sesame Street was made in seventy three. I don't know indepth muppet reference seventies. So no, I would not say that he had that Christmas Mr.. Hooper die eighties. I think. The if you want to follow the timeline, it's they started living together, nineteen sixty-nine straight nineteen Eighty-four gay. It took. It took them a little over a decade till the eighties. Oh, that's true. So you're saying they were gay before that and there's no real come out. That's fair..

"Don't give in on this Republicans given on the nutrition, eat healthily and good food, but don't give in on Brett Cavanaugh. Where do we go from there? First of all, any guy, any guy, whoever is up for any political position is dead. They if an unsubstantiated claim about trying to get a girl's top off thirty six years ago with no evidence, no witnesses, even the the witness won't speak or the the accuser won't speak. If that can torpedo your entire career. Every man is finished on both sides of the aisle. It's not just affecting Republicans every guys finished, probably most women are finished, who can survive that you can't give in with their with their going to try to say as a will Cavanaugh he's compromised. Get someone else get, you know, get just go for someone else come on. It's not a big deal. We'll get there are plenty of other good judge candidates. No, no, no, no. If a warrant a big deal wouldn't be pushing so hard at this. Don't let them get away with this. It is immoral to let them get away with this. Do not let them do it and all right. We. That's my important message to all conservatives and Republicans. We've gotta talk about all the important news though, like gay Muppets and the ban of memes threat Europe. And for that, we bring on Stu Berg year who is on the Glenn Beck program. He's on the news and why it matters and their the Glenn Beck is are hanging around the studio this week, and I love he's got a great perspective. So let's bring him in stoop. Thanks for having me. So an honor, so, well, you know, you were just around here. He figured out, gosh, I've got five minutes RIA. Because I was on your show yesterday at the news and why matters? Yeah, it was a lot of fun. That was a ton of fun yesterday and especially in this new cycle, I'm actually beginning to question the premise of your show. Yeah, which is the news matter really. I'm not convinced at all. We've got thirty five year old accusations. We've got the president's Morio car. We've I don't. I don't need any of that. It's disturbing. It's very disturbing. The news and whites, two servings. Why you should pay attention to something because there are other very important news stories today? Yes, I would say after the Mario Kart and after the the most important stories or Bert, Ernie the well-known Sesame Street puppets. There's a big debate on between different writers and creators of them as to whether or not there gay coincidentally. I don't know why this is, but in my notes for our interview, whoever taped this putting gay pride stick around there. So we have their vote or Burton Ernie gave Bert Ernie, you know, there are wonderful team and they've, they've provided a so much happiness for so long. I don't think they're getting then. Here's my premise for this. The guy who created them said they're not gay. And is that all the I know, I know deeper, okay. They're made a felt. Okay. Okay. Most gay people are not made felt I don't wanna over gentlemen, be right. You something shiny bright felt isn't shiny at all true. Puppets don't usually have any genitals known, so it's difficult for them to engage in any sexual. You know, I don't know. I've never taken clothing off of puppet or you some kind of brick Cavanaugh over here, checking out it. There was an incident at a party I want to go to. It can administration miss piggy was involved. It was not pretty. But yeah, that's an interesting thing is that we have to come up now with sexuality for puppets. You know, the guy I was it was actually kind of sad, the guy who who kind of brought this, everybody's attention. He said he was a writer, I guess, for many years for Perner any, which I thought they came up with all their own material and I'm a little frustrated. I know it's all. Yeah, Mark Saltzman Mark Saltzman and he said he'll was considered them gay. And he wrote them as if they were gay and he modeled them after his own relationship and he's gay he. But I thought that was really sad because Bernie sleep in separate beds is this guy what?.
