"I'm Mark Roberts here. Producer Jacobs here. We're going to talk about the cease fire the between Israel and Hamas in just a little bit. But first Wanted to share some just absolutely incredible audio from the Hannity Show the other night when Geraldo and Dan Bongino got into another spat. You remember the one from a few weeks back, right? Itwas fiery, fiery and it was believable to sometimes you see those people on there you go. Well, they're just doing that for, you know, dramatics and viewers. Those guys really seemed like they were angry with each other. Yeah, it makes me wonder. I don't know if Hannity is gonna have them participate on a panel together anymore, or if he will be extra excited to do that, just for ratings as man. These two clearly do not like one another and to bond Gino's credit. I mean, Geraldo was ripping on Israel a lot in this segment, and I'm not gonna play that part because it's just it just makes me sick to my stomach. Really. But he was ripping on basically Israel defending itself and blaming the United States for arming Israel, which was incredible to me, because I'm thinking you're the Democrats fund. Iran. They're the ones that are responsible for the rockets that are being shot at Israel out of nowhere. It's not Israel that is starting these fights. And in the case of phony say funding. Iran were literally talking about pallets full of U. S dollars, right with thanks to Obama and Biden, and they basically put no strings attached because they gave them the money and then didn't get the stuff They were promised. And then they kept saying what we You know, we can't be incentivize them. We're to give him the money. Yeah. Geraldo was getting hit hard on TV yesterday, first with Dan Bongino, but also with Katie Pavlich and will play that as well. Listen, first of all, to Geraldo and Bongino, absolutely going at it. Geraldo. You do this every time If this is such garbage, and I'm really I'm really getting sick of it. You play this emotional game with the audience and use your position of responsibility to put out misinformation and attacking me. Polly's things addressed the issue. You have the guts to address the issue. Not you. Just this is not about making this. You didn't come on this show.

"I'm Mark Roberts here. Producer Jacob is here, and we've been talking a lot about yesterday's presser because, of course, that is all that anybody is talking about today. And there was a moment in addition to the sound that you heard in the last hour about border issues because there were a lot of questions about border issues. There was one and I don't remember who this reporter is. I apologize for that. But there is one reporter who asked Sort of a pointed question. Which was Are you OK with like, Is this acceptable to you? The conditions that these kids are being housed in at the border right now, and buttons. Response was like toe legit. Make fun of the question. Listen follow, sir, you mentioned circumstances that must be horrific. Customs and Border Protection facility and Donna Texas. I was there is that 1556% capacity right now, with mostly unaccompanied minors. They're kids. They're sleeping on floors. They're packed into these pods. I've spoken the lawyers who say that they some of these Children have not seen the sun in days. What's your reaction? What is your reaction to these images that have come out from that particular facility is what's happening inside acceptable to you. And when is this going to be fixed? Eyes. That's a serious question right and said, except over me. Come on. That's why we're gonna be moving 1000 those kids out quickly. That's why I got Fort Bliss opened up. That's why I've been working from the moment this started to happen to try to find additional access. For Children to be able to safely not just Children are particularly Children to be able to safely be housed. While we follow through on the rest of what's happening. That is totally unacceptable. Um All right, so And then there was the moment. So you know again, he was asked directly a couple times. What is the plan? How is this going to be fixed? At what point? Are we going to have access those of the kinds of questions that go way above? Biden said he can't do specifics. He can say some some generalities like, Well, we're gonna open up this base over here and this facility over there, But that doesn't even address the problem. Let ze doable exercise here. Okay, little fun. She says with our audience, Let's pretend Biden had his faculties together. Okay, let's just play that game because we way no, he doesn't. But this is why so often you hear people say that governors make much better presidents than senators. Because of the U. S. Senator Joe Biden never had to produce anything. He has no concept of leading because no one leads in the Senate. Right? It's not an executive brains. They don't solve problems. They don't respond to crisis. Is there a legislative body a slow, clunky in the case of the Senate deliberative legislative body, who's famous for doing nothing? And so when these even if he had his faculties together He's not capable of responding to this because his career path in government, hey, never had to respond. The things that's part of leadership is the ability to whether it's a public health, emergency or border crisis, or, you know, don't Tor Tornado hits or whatever you got as a governor, or even in the case of a business CEO or whatever be able to respond. To these issues. Senators don't have that skill set right right well, and he clearly doesn't have the answers because he does. He doesn't know that, though, this one, saying he wouldn't know if he had his act together because it's not what he's ever had to do. Member how? In the last segment, we talked about how he was trying to make the joke and it was a couple of times. It was like the whole Oh, I miss Trump or, you know, I miss him. It was the whole Jim Eagle verse instead of Jim Crow. And I love the fact that he's so, uh He's so ridiculous now that there's like articles that have been written about Jim Eagle now. Oh my God, I look, so I looked it up, but I thought what for what? They're out there trying to explain this away. There's actual articles tried to explain how Jim Eagle is not a real person. Oh, my God. Somebody tell Joe Biden that if you throw it in your search machine of choice, you will find multiple articles now attempting to explain away Jim Eagle. Oh, my gosh. Well, there was another. There was another statement that he made about Being in the Senate, where he apparently according to some reports, was making another joke. I don't think this was a joke, you decide for yourself. Listen, you know, with regard to the filibuster, I believe We should go back to a position of the filibuster that existed just when I came to United States Senator 120 years ago. Okay, So do you think he was joke? No. And I could see you know somebody would crack and I'm old joke, right? But if your whole like, if your whole thing is this guy's lost his marbles. You're probably not cracking jokes about how old you are right, right. I mean, that's that's what struck me about. It is that that was either. Um, huge, just misspeak, which he's famous for. But I mean, it's one of those moments again where you recognize how little sense he ever make. Hay was asked more about the filibuster, and here's what he said. Guarding the filibuster At John Lewis's funeral, President Barack Obama said he believed the filibuster was a relic of the Jim Crow era. Do you agree? Yes. If not, why not abolish it if it's a relic of the Jim Crow era. Oh, success. Electoral politics is the art of the possible. Let's figure out.

"Over the we've sort of been in this kind of conservative mode or the over last for your years but i think if you look at politics over a long period of time you tend to go inside walls and my guess is. I'm guardedly optimistic that we're actually moving into more of a rest of cycle where we will really start to address these fundamental issues. Instead of the idea of that we'd so often do and donald trump was notorious or this for scapegoating particular groups. Were saying oh you know he. He certainly tap into the idea that people haven't been getting a hat Economically that's certainly true but the The the root of the problem is not immigration and or some other group. It's structural and it has to do not enough jobs a decent wage. We need policies that focus on that. Well there's been a reaction by the democrats and there has been a shift. I mean i think we're all seeing it and For those of us who cover the democratic party and have there is extremely cautious. i don't know if you could get more cautious than us but optimism that there seems to be an understanding that these systemic problems needs to be addressed like chuck schumer. This is a quote from him in the washington post today. What happened in two thousand nine and ten is. We tried to work with the republicans. The package packaging ended up being much too. Small and the recession lasted for five years. People got sour. We lost the election. I mean that's a kind of unthinkable shift if you were to be talking about the democratic party even four years ago so are are you sensing that the overton window has kind of shifted it will be different outside of a crisis mode but at least in this crisis mode they seem to be somewhat getting it. Yeah i think that's for sure you know the idea of the. That's now you know. People are talking about the idea. The universal basic income. I mean a few years ago that would be like this is this is radical. This is there's no way people are now talking about this Both president biden and senator. Romney had half a proposal provide a child allowance. That what that does is. It gives a folks with with children a monthly payment to help in terms of raising those children. Now that that's been around in european countries for decades but for the united states for for actually proposals on both sides of the aisle. That's that's different. That's new and so Yes i am guardedly optimistic that there are now discussion about this and there's a recognition which is what we're getting at at the book and what we've been talking about this last twenty five minutes. There's a recognition that there aren't enough chairs for the players that are playing the game and we need to focus on that rather than continually focusing on who loses out at the game. In fact we should say that that the provision known as structured by romney. I think romney had a was going through the social security system as opposed to the irs but my understanding is that within the cova. Bill you get three hundred dollars a month for children between i think sixteen eighteen years old. Maybe three sixty a month a little bit more three eighty if the child's under six and that's just for one year but there is been the administration has expressed the desire to keep that going after this one year. So tell me. What do we have now in terms of any type of of policies as inadequate as they are to help people not be in poverty. And then let's talk about like you know what this cove relief bill if it was to be extended if these provisions the three hundred dollars a month and and we should say there's always been child tax credits but this is a monthly payment. Which makes it much easier to smooth out those expenses over the course of the year as opposed to like. Maybe i'll get it at the end of the year. Maybe i won't yeah exactly right. That's a huge difference of getting sort of a payment at the end of the year versus on a monthly level. So the the program that we have now which is the largest anti already program is something that a lot of people might not be aware of. But it's the argument from taxpayer. And that's like exactly what you're talking about. Is that if you're a low income worker in below a certain level You get a refundable tax better at the end of the year and that's actually been a pretty a separate program getting and to raising the wages of folks but yeah yesterday and i can interrupt because fundable tax credit. I feel like like people. Just don't understand what that means is just basically you you get a payment. You get a cheque right right right right so you have to file taxes the ghettos. You don't have to own anything. That's the difference so it's not like cutting your taxes down. You actually get track at the at the end of the year from that programs but you know waiting out That's different and that certainly very valuable but yet something on a monthly basis to help raise children is Would be a huge advantage for so many folks. And as i said this is an idea that has been. Napping countries have been doing this for decades. So this isn't some kind of you know new new ideas but it's been shown to be really active and it doesn't you know people oftentimes thing well. This is an incentive on on on people working and so on it's the evidence shows that it doesn't have any of those kinds of acts that they're very very minimal that people use that you know productive way so i think that that's you know again. It's very positive that we're starting to tie actually proposals out there. What else do you see in this. Co- vid bill. Or what don't you see in this. Kovic bill that you think that would be the i if you had an opportunity for next step like what would you. What would you deploy at this point. Yeah so the thing that jumps immediately to my mind is nothing minimum wage that You know as president behind says. It's it's fundamentally wrong that you should work fulltime this country and still being empowered and You know if you're working below that level almost by definition urine poverty. So i think that that is the next big thing that we need to address is to get the wages up to something. That is a reasonable level. You know as you know the minimum wage Hasn't been raised since two thousand nine at seven twenty five in our the federal There's just no way and it you know and this would this would impact of millions and millions of folks and would help them dramatic. So i think that to me is the nets big thing and one going back for achieve. That is getting at this idea of providing more chairs in the musical chairs. Now so i think that that's why not as opposed to like fifteen dollars minimum wage which is like a second or solution. Right i mean why not as a society modify certain things so that those chairs are just not as important to provide a place for someone to sit..

"Last minute you math it is it is. I don't think that we have small enough currency. If i was to use a dollars an example as to what represents but this is how desperate they are but continue preservation of native american languages but dan crenshaw he summed it up his tweet says the covert package cost every single american. Five thousand seven hundred fifty dollars and then give some people fourteen hundred dollars. No biden isn't a leprechaun he's just bribing you with your own money and putting your kids with the bill and some inflation to top it off just a good point washington post. The washington post makes this point today this thing inject so much money into the economy. At a time when we do not necessarily needed a columnist from both parties warned that the growth could overheat leading to hard to contain inflationary which you just mentioned plus some businesses say that the government aid is so generous. They cannot get the unemployed people to come back to work. And they're they're going to stay on the sideline just get the checks. What i used to understand is how you could do this story. And host a sunday show and not bring up the fact that only nine percents goes to endemic relief. Not bring up. The fact one trillion from plans has yet to been spent. Why would you not bring up the fact that we right now are beginning to come out of it with vaccines and we should be responsible in that spending money that we don't have at least pose that that is part of the story as opposed to ignoring that. We're doing this story. Where twenty eight trillion dollars in debt. This is money that your grandkids are. Your kids are going to have to pay for. How much money do you think the democratic party would have to spend to get fox and friends or did get the word out that like. You're being showered with cash. America and and the problem with dan crunch is saying they're taking fifty six hundred dollars and giving you fourteen. Hundred is that the vast majority of americans are going to be getting significantly more than fourteen hundred and by significantly more. I mean a multiple of fourteen hundred. That like i said some of them are going to get up to twenty some odd thousand dollars. Family of four is going to get a minimum fifty. Six hundred. Unemployed are going to get that check plus the extra three hundred per week and a fix on the taxes. The democrats can't even message that they should be out there talking about biden bucks or whatever it is and there is no coherent message by the republicans as to why this is problematic. Accepted some vague notion of this is money. We can't we don't have to spend well in a couple of weeks. The people getting the money. Just that's just not going to be something that's going to be in the forefront of their minds. They're going to see the checking their bank account and they're not going to think about that. Terrible math average that dan crenshaw tried to use to escape the point. Because i don't know if you know this high wage earners who put money into the system ostensibly even though not enough. They're not getting these checks so a lot of this is going to be coming from the rich to regular people The the little that the rich do pay taxes anyway and this could all have been framed as you're getting some of your tax money back at a time when you need it. This is a basically a one time. Tax cut for people but fox isn't going to frame it that way neither is dan crenshaw all right. We're going to take quick break when we come back. We're going to be talking with mark rank the herbert s hadley professor of social welfare at the browns at washington university in st. louis author of poorly understood what america gets wrong about poverty. Meanwhile today's show sponsored by third love. Third love uses the measurements of millions of women to design bras with all day comfort and support every third..

"Four ninety some odd percent of children in the country and he's a little bit higher for younger children. It's going to happen for a year. The question is can we make that permanent maybe bumping We'll see it's as you described me before the show. You b. i. Attesting uba strategy for children. And that's that's big. that's big. not everything's big or shattering in the spill. But i think that is a seismic shift in terms of democratic policy and and a lot of it has to do just a complete absence of any of pushback from republicans. you know. they're still caught up in this whole Mr potato head slash. Dr seuss issue. Which you know. Democrats to be fair. Democrats have completely failed to address it. You're right you're right it actually it. They they really are occupying. The space and the democrats are gonna really lose all those mr potato head single issue voters or i'm sorry i sorry for miss 'gendering potato head potato. The in here is an example of the lamest attempt at the austerity politics that have been completely obliterated in part because of donald trump in part. Because we're living in a pandemic but they're still trying to play the heads over at fox and friends and what's fascinating about this is just sort of how lacklustre this is because there. Well you play this clip number. Six ashington post headline biden stimulus showers money on americans sharply cutting poverty and defining move presidency. So what is in this relief bill. Three hundred fifty billion dollars going to state and local governments two hundred seventy million keeping my this is covert relief. There's been said to be a ghost that many people of of Witnessed it seen it talk to it. There's an investigation going on now. A friend of mine who's a comedian and has worked there for since the seventies really He believes he has actually had contact with the ghost. And there's a video on youtube. But i wanna do a real investigation on that. I actually contacted chris sumner and if she would get involved in something like that you definitely was interested in it but it seemed like I wanna do something deep there because it's a a famous place. I think it's got a lot of Cachet as far as a public interest but it also is a belief story because if you follow youtube stuff now. Here's the thing in the youtube video. He's talking to the ghost. And i don't because Partially because i have severe tinnitus in my ears. Don't work so well after years and years. Play racquetball and i don't. I'm not hearing the ghost talkback. So that's the ten people in the room. He's asking questions and they're all going and they have the captions on about what the goals to supposed to same. But i'm not hearing it for myself which to me. We've me a little frustrated. Like i wanna hear it for myself but Eleven or twelve people in a room claim to have had that experience in. Nobody saying they use something called the spirit box. You familiar with that I'm not kidding. i'm not. I'm not don't have one right. Why would you guys be interested in being part of that investigation in any way to the comedy still goes to investigation. Like for me for me just knowing that mob history now see. They don't actually guiding us and they've also been keeping humans in in kind of stasis of fear and uncertainty right because that is they eat on that energy is what those affiliates feed on if even if even if except that belief system mocked his question. I would have for this now. Why divulge yourself to billy corgan of all people and if you're going to divulge yourself to one musician as the head of museum like why would he be in an and business but if you're going to do so divulge yourself to one rockstar. Why not every star or other rockstars. Why one or or or maybe one. That's more of a legend. Here's the here's an here's a here's a question to that did he. Purposely divulge himself Quite did his did. His is a device which cloaks him malfunction at that time. You know what. I'm going to have to go back and watch the tape but i think my assumption of from the first time i listened to billy corgan prescription of it. It was an intentional thing. "Sure mark Roberts we're just hearing the three kings we just learned the last segment could be any number of kings but there were three guests and they are named yes and NO I mentioned that they aren't king some feeling bad right now the with this so we're playing one of my favorite carols but you know there's room for filling out the story and and that's fine there's no harm done calling them three kings and we three match I just doesn't work in the song all right December twenty fifth eighty one correct not correct well the bottom line we don't know about the month and day the year is clearly wrong but you see that's not a biblical problem Luke didn't get it wrong math you didn't get it wrong the process in the Middle Ages of determining when one was went wrong now what do I say this how do we know this both of the gospel counts very clearly date the birth of Jesus to the time when king Herod the great was reigning king Herod the great died in four BC no way to get around that there's no way to get around that Jesus was clearly born before for B. C. so that's a good trick to be born before you were born but again it's it's our calendar problem it's not the biblical problem if you figure that Herod ordered the death of all babies male baby set to an under in Bethlehem it means that we're talking at the latest around six maybe seven BC the time of Jesus it's very interesting and many people go to town with this I think we've got a hold it lightly but in seven BC there was a very instead interesting thing in the sky three times Jupiter and Saturn came an overlap creating a very very bright planet and in the ancient world Jupiter was thought to be the star of the planet of kings Saturn was often associated with the Jews because of the Sabbath and so it's just possible that if the magic from the east side Jupiter and Saturn together of an extra bright star they would say Jewish king AT gets a little speculative for me but it's possible any but it certainly is possible so basically Jesus was probably born six seven BC and again that's our problem now when in the year he was born bottom line we have no idea whatsoever again it was just nobody had any reason to write this down or care about it the only hint really comes from the fact that the shepherd said their flocks out by night.
