"Chino tuscany after really really difficult. Hard day cycling on the strategy beyond k. the unpaved lanes at that run through the hills of their criteria sommese and into the mall chino wine country and it was a really really significant stage this year. I think that every cyclists took part myself included as virtual cyclist would've really enjoyed best of all day a big plate of peachy noodles these these handroll noodles that are specialty of the provincia de sienna and bathe in rich sauce. Made from jeanne jolly wild war perfect sort of food to fortify you for the next day's top wash down. Of course the glasser to probably of other also d mantell cina not now. Maybe if you're cycling the next day that might be a little hard on the legs. But i think that also demob dottino would be a wide. That would just be perfect. Set you up for the next day women. Since i wasn't actually cycling. I would've finished with a glass of of my favorite lines. That sounds really good mark. So you are about to start a new series here on the podcast at food wine and travel with mark millon and we already have a couple of producers aligned up so we're super excited for that to start in september so tell us a little bit about how you you want to add food component. You've already sort of touched on it. And i think listeners can get an idea of the way you express yourself which is it's it's awesome. You make things just come alive and you know i just wanted to get your take on. How do you think your style the way that you talk about food and your knowledge. How can you compliment the guest producers. And you know how. Can you sort of bring that together to showcase the fantastic colors and flavors and the winds of italy will the exciting thing about the new series where starting why. I'm so excited about a joy is because the wine producers themselves are the ones.

"During the pandemic to other series rice since monte can come up to verona because of the pandemic and we didn't really have other events He said why. Don't we think about doing some other series. So i think we started doing the everybody. Did we do that with your ready when you were here. Everybody needs a bit of chansa. We did a lot of seminars with With professor shannon But everybody. I think it's jacobs jacobs Good work so then. Jake yes had said. Why don't we do that and we started. Everybody needs a bit of shan. Just because you know we want to introduce professor shanta to the rest of the world. Except he didn't speak any english he spoke. German spoke french and so we did this thing called. I mean i mean. I didn't really do anything i ask him. A question i would and then go do my thing. He would start to speak. I would make phone calls. I would do and i've come back after some time. He'd still be talking so it was quite quite quite simple. Really and then the good community the via community a They started translating some of the stuff which was really wonderful. And then then we started doing other stuff. And here i see margherita. Tom i gue- hey everyone i'm here. I'm just running. So can you just stop a little bit too. Don't worry don't worry. I'm with you all right so margarita. Tell us when you you took over from jacob because jacob lasted about a year right one year i think yeah probably around that and me and him were starting to do. The everybody needs a bit of shan sasso. You decided to leave to me because it was like the most fun things. So i would just do the friday episode and well after that since it was going good. Steamy decided that we needed to have one episode per day. So so yeah. We started having I think it was joy. I reading guide to italian wide. Gosh i don't remember al's shrimp guide. Yeah yeah yeah right. Yeah she was reading. You forget you just you quit on me and you forgot already know come on. It's just like a lot of things. I have to remember now. New things but anyways and then Everyone wanted to start reading their their own books. So i remember monty was like. Hey i want my own books too but he never did no he. He did read his books. Yes hello oh sorry. I wasn't doing that. I said i was doing. Just shanzer right. I think may maybe joyless doing that. No no no. It was all jacob. Jacob was still still on earth jacob. Yeah and then we started. Introducing steve ray so he started reading his book Get us market ready. See that one remember. And and yeah. Monte conner started just focusing on by dynamic producers in the italian wine and and then from there just we decided to get something new every day. Okay great so i'm going to bring joy on. She's the current producer. Rachel hey i julia. It's so nice to see you or hear you other. Yeah it seems. Like i miss you. Julia remember when we missed. You know. I know. But i remember when she was doing the podcast and she always looks so stressed out. I was like. I never dared the podcast here. I am so. Can you try to now. Give an overview to our listeners before we bring them onto the stage. Gosh okay so yeah no. Actually i started re. I wanted to just say something of mighty tested. We started with a jumbo books. We did also we did some job. Busy lump loose gonna wind stories find stories. Yeah we did both the jumbo shrimp books And then of course. Yeah the get you market ready. And then also i think she said that already but anyway yeah i know right now. It's really packed. We have most most weeks at six episodes a week. Now on mondays we have steep raise new show which is of course a spin off. So it's he's talking to People in the states about their different business experiences and stuff is really cool. He has his own style. And then we'll have steve like interview also are via community business. Us focused business. And he's he's so awesome like so friendly and he can keep the cost the conversation going link. He's he's i. Love steve so i don't know if he's listening. Basically no anyway. So tuesday we have monte walden so he yeah he's been focusing on dynamics organic wineries so that's his speciality and he's just honed in on that corner and that seems to be working out pretty well he he. He definitely has some a lot of experience. Suit that book wrote in of course all of the other stuff. He's done so. That's good and then on wednesday we have voices with rebecca. Tell us about rebecca's new series. I mean it's really a great series. It is well over the last like how long know it's become clear that there are certain you know avenues. That need exploring such as the premise of her her show. Which is diversity inclusivity in all of this stuff and so a lot of her guests are female and You know they come from all different backgrounds and each one has their own story on how they got to where they are now and you know they. A lot of them are tackling issues in the wine industry that need to be addressed And it's it's a really good show for sort of highlighting different areas that need improvement in the wine industry etc. It stuff like that. It's it's really good. And of course. Rebecca does get job. I'm going to say that anyway. But she does a great job. So i've actually some of the speakers on clubhouse and then i toted. I suggest that their name to you so clubhouse actually has been very good for us to discover new voices i remember. I think you've found one of them. That i absolutely loved. It was probably my favorite episodes. Actually a smith. Yes i think through. Yeah and that was through his sit eight. It was announced episode was with rebecca was hilarious and he so awesome. That was such a good episode. I love that one. That was that was enjoyable. Okay and then on thursdays. It's a mishmash because we have so many things. Sometimes we have clubhouse. Sometimes we have generally talia with mark millon. sometimes we have Masterclass that's gonna to probably coming out. Today we had amazing episode. And i say this only because i interviewed the individual everybody muted as i did. You gave me like thirty seconds and told me high interview guide. I'm like who is this guy. You're like robert. Joseph and then call them robert. Parker guys have to listen to that. At least it's hilarious. And in. Fridays and saturdays is usually.

"Smith while you don't forget the testing welcome to this special edition where we talk. Lines and the dahlia. We held an exceptional clubhouse wound dedicated to but it was not recorded. I know i know bummer. But anyways without about sharing some note about the stages of the written and read by mark millon a food wine and travel writer and the author of numerous books as well as magazine articles published on both sides of the atlantic. Stay tuned smith. While you don't forget this testing teams the juggernaut that is zero. D'italia rolls relentlessly on as we approach some of the most exciting stages in the highest mountains. Here are my reports for stages fourteen fifteen and sixteen stage. Fourteen ci two dalla to monterey his own gone two hundred five kilometers. Hope it's what drives us all on. It's what makes us get up in the morning. Hope is what gets professional cyclist out of bed. In the dead of winter to put in the hard kilometers to prepare themselves even just to be able to take part in a grand tour like the jitter the tanya. It's what makes them keep writing every day over three weeks. When every muscle sinew and bone in their body must be aching an utter agony. Yesterday's route from ravenna to vote. Ona passing through. Oughta and montoire in homage. Dante alighieri was a day for most riders just to recuperate and try to recover before the arduous days in the mountains it could not have been flatter or straighter. It was day when there was absolutely no hope for a breakway a small group of riders to try to get ahead and hold out to the finish and yet a trio led by the indefatigable simone pillow. Who's proving to be this year's most combative rider tried all the same. Even when the full might of the peleton was bearing down on them in the final five kilometers when it was clearly hopeless to hang out any longer they still made a final acceleration to try and prolong their moment in the sun for just a little longer. Why what drove the mon- when there was absolutely no point whatsoever. why did they expend precious energy and fatigue. They're already aching muscles. When there was absolutely no benefit to be gained it seems that hope becomes a habit a state of mind so they just drove themselves on. Hopefully giacomo needs solo. The italian and european champion knows about hope as much as anyone one of the most popular writers in the peleton. He's an immensely talented sprinter. Who so far has been unable to win a stage in his home grand tour finishing second on countless disappointing occasions. What must have gone through his mind. Then at the very end of the stage when having been delivered to the final two kilometers in perfect position by his hard-working becca hustles team. He saw eduardo. Fini of jumbo visita accelerated such an astonishing pace for a final dash to glory along the straight corso. Porta nuova verona. It was an audacious move and feeney was powerful enough to open up a sizeable gap. That look almost hopeless to re-lane did need at that moment then that he might have to settle for another second no he believed in himself because he had hope in his heart gradually quickly almo super humanly. He pounded after his countrymen got back onto his wheel sip stream for just a moment and powered past him arms aloft..

"Edition where we talk lines and the value. We held an exceptional clubhouse room dedicated to but it was not recorded. I know i know bummer. But anyways without about sharing some note about the sages of the written and read by mark millon afford wine and travel writer and the author of numerous books as well as magazine articles published on both sides of the atlantic. Since this bikers will also go through the city of vinitaly. There will be more special episodes to come stay tuned smith. Why drink don't forget the testing. Hi i'm mark mullen and my journey through italy on virtual bike with a real wine glass in hand continues as i follow this year's jittered italian back as it makes its way down across the country here. My latest reports stage four piacenza to sestina one hundred and eighty seven kilometers sometimes in cycling as in life fortune favors the brave usually not but yesterday showed that in the jiro. Dreams really can come true when rookie rider taco van der horn of the debut. Tom team inter marsha one to go. There decided to embark on a breakway almost at the very start of a rainy long and arduous stage that included some significant in steep climbs before flat sprint finish. It seemed just another heroic gesture that was doomed to fail. Bravo all the same heroic always appreciated and valued in the geo. Talk ozanam he said afterwards with just to ride aggressively and try to stay out front as long as he could seven others joined him in. The peleton seemed happy to let them build a lead that was never more than could be reeled. In other teams had their own strategies. Bora hans grow for example. Wanted to send a high tempo on the steep climbs in order to punish or drop rivals to their team leader. Peter sagan one of a rare breed who can bow sprint as well as climb after the final descent in their wine hills with only ten kilometers left until what should have been a sprint finish for the power. Riders vanderhall was out front working together with simone pedal to somehow keep ahead of the chasing bunch but their lead had been whittled down to a mere forty five seconds surely never enough against the might an energy of a determined peleton vander horn then made an audacious move. He dumped his partner with whom he had worked so hard all day in..

"M- dot Com and in the morning to our artistic people out all the time but that's that what was when it was a chat room. Now it's troll room as a difference in the morning to Mike Riley who without a doubt put a lot of work into into the artwork that we selected as the album art for episode eleven seventy seven the title of that episode Moral Army and this was the artist at war Dr which was total inside baseball for the show and I think everyone appreciated exactly for that reason we nick the rats in there. We've got com. Um Extra blogger there. Are It's a draw draw up fight to the death. You've got Darren O'Neill. Everybody's in this piece and it was an original piece and just just I I mean I would want this printed out in frame. That's how good it is. I'M GONNA put it on a Mug the I will say this it. I if we hadn't a tease the fact that nick was going to get a three peat yeah and they needed a blocks needed to block him because it was started the war may have not the piece made out of happened but it did and now it's going to be brutal. Well no nick the route. At this morning announced he will not be meeting artwork for this episode. He's gone on a comic strip blogger hiatus Jesse. He's taken himself out. That's like didn't they come out seven years ago. Yeah came out in two thousand eleven so what is wow now eight. Quick math on the vinyl presses. Take a long time to warm up and now they do. It's very cool. You're also doing like handwritten lyrics right or was that like a one time promotion. I saw it on twitter but is that people seem to like that swept through that is sort of like a package deal. You know like so so if you order the vinyl you also get a handwritten lyrical note from you. Is that how it works well. It's actually i probably did. I think maybe ten of these just ten or actually hand wrote the lyrics to the song so i should wear you out yeah it does. It's my hand hurts. Never write much anymore. It's all on the thing you know and like i had to re. Remember cursive and cute. I i recently wrote a response to it might have been writing a check to be honest with you and i never i never write anything by hand. I'm like my god. This handwriting is terrible. This is is like a child who is using his opposite hand like a right handed child easiness left-hand. That's what my check writing. Look like so. I feel you're paying their john. Mark coming later on this show. We are joined also by lisa sharon harper. She's an author speaker and activist. She was one of the forty leaders that we spoke to for the round table conversations in one hundred issue of relevant so lisa sharon harper's coming up later look at that this is a packed packed show yeah one more question about the album ocean the thing is that like a golden ticket thing from the office where michael scott like slip them and ten select boxes or or or do people know if they're going to get get the one of the ten handwritten notes people know. It's very package. Yeah very specific price point that they very specific price point is trying to create some interesting pick on this john marker. Did you pick the songs. "Twos to suffer savage listening to our next guest john mark millon song as enemy comma love at the beginning of the podcast he heard saint lucia with the new single brighter love jon murphy milnes latest album is called mercury and lightning it's drawn critical acclaim for gene r bending format which is both worshipful and challenging as he wrestles with spiritual questions as well as revelations about god's character well month or so ago john mark and his wife sarah and others stop by the relevant studios for an exclusive live performance of a song from the them here is john mark millon performing death in reverse so this song is called death in reverse and i think when i was writing this song i was thinking about you know those things in life that sometimes happen that change the way you see all of life i think they call the black swan you know it's a thing that you don't maybe even believe can happen not even you believe it can happen but it's just something so far outside of your context that you know when it happens your whole world changes you know for some people it's like having a baby or getting married or maybe it's the loss of someone you know or maybe it's a world event or something but they're these moments in life when you feel like you know the way the world works and something changes and you realize not only has the way you approach the world change but the way you see the entire world changes in those moments when that's called a black swan and this is called death rivers descend upon me stole blacks rage on you know all that of shins and.
