Dr. Fauci predicts "open season" for vaccinations in April

"April it will be open season for covert vaccinations in this country. A B C's Mark Millar joining us on the co Moh news line to explain what does that exactly mean? And what's it say about supplies? Mark? Yes. Oh, doctor catching on NBC's Today show this morning. Did that open season and basically what he said. That means is by we get by the time we get to into April and the end of April. We're going to start seeing the kind of vaccine supply that will allow us to get to these levels where virtually everyone can get vaccinated now, he said. Logistically, it may still take several months to complete. Vaccinations for that many people so we may still have Somewhat of a supply crunch compared to the demand, but I think what he was getting at there is right now we're in these tears and phases of who's eligible to get vaccines and what he's saying is, by the time we're getting into April in late April, we might be in the general public area of Virtually anyone is eligible to go get a vaccination. It's just a question of whether or not we have the millions of doses to supply for the potentially hundreds of millions of people who would be eligible and willing to get a vaccine at that point, So he says the case is really going to ramp up because we're gonna see the supply ramp up over the next couple months into April, and he said that he hopes The vast majority of Americans can be vaccinated by the time we get to mid end of summer. How many are being administered now? Mark so, the U. S is ramping up and has been ramping up the pace of vaccinations. And right now the U. S has now, according to Ah planning document from the Department of Health and Human Services, the U. S has now hit Seven day average for daily doses administered on that number is now 1,555,959 shots a day. So we have now hit that 1.5 million. A day shot total that President Biden had called for. Obviously, that puts us on a good track for us reaching that 100 million shots and his 1st 100 days, which some you know, had said was kind of a low goal, a low bar that it could have been higher, but we're making progress in that direction and shots are ramping up and that's good news. Dr Fauci have any cautions for people? Not when it came to that vaccines. Now he did say that they're watching the variance that have been coming around the UK Varian in particular is spreading quite rapidly here in the U. S. Though, he said mass are effective against it, as well as the vaccines that we currently have. Hey, also was asked about You know this. This lingering question about Can you if you get vaccinated? Can you go see your family? Are you safe to do that? And he said ultimately, yes, but the goal would be to have both parties vaccinated And the reason being is let's say your grandmother or you know, someone you know is vaccinated. Well, they could go and meet you. They could still get Kobe Ed. If you're not wearing masks, and you're not social distancing. They could still get cold it in their nasal cavity, essentially and from there potentially spread it to others, So the risk may not be so much. Them, but the ability for them to spread it So again. The goal here is to have both parties vaccinated. But that was kind of his parting piece of advice here. A PC's Mark Rommel or thank you, Mark. You bet. Thank you.

"Built for America built Ford proud. Kitty O'Neil kfbk afternoon News on news 93.1 kfbk Now trending I'm Kelly Ryan filling in for Kitty O'Neil with some stories trending. Now we go to our camp became newsroom with Brody Fernandez. Kelli. We're getting reports now the fatal shooting on the corner of El Camino Avenue and El Paso Boulevard. Sacramento. Police officers are currently on scene and we'll bring you more information as it comes in police officials right now saying to avoid the area, Kelly All right. Thanks for that. We will keep you in touch with everything going on there now going in death now on the latest regarding the cove it vaccine from the FDA is set to approve the visor vaccine as soon as this Thursday in a BCS Mark Millar joins us for the very latest. Yes, So it's possible that we have it. We have an answer. Sometimes this week. It's possible, though, though that doesn't seem the most likely scenario. What's going to happen is on Thursday on the 10th. The FDA is going to be meeting with its independent Vaccine Review board and they'll be making a recommendation to the FDA about whether or not they think the Fizer vaccine should be approved. They have been going over the safety data, the efficacy data looking at everything all aspects of this essentially to make sure that it's safe and efficient for people. And so they'll make a recommendation to the FDA on the 10th. A decision from the FDA could come at any point after that. It is possible that they make a decision on the 10th. But Given what we know it seems like and what we heard from how health and human services Secretary Alex Days are over the weekend. On Sunday, he told ABC that he believes we could see FDA authorization quote within days, so seems unlikely. It'll happen on the tent. But maybe within the coming days after that, and then we know that the federal government Already has stockpiles of several million doses of the Fizer vaccine ready to begin distribution, they say within 24 hours of approval, So it does seem possible. Certainly that if we get FDA approval within within days after the 10th, as Alex Cesar says, he's hopeful that that will be the case. Then we could see distributions. You know, within a day or so after that, And so it is possible that we start saying the first doses of vaccines going into arms in this country, you know, maybe sometime next week. Some of the first people are gonna get this our people in nursing homes because there it's such a high risk. That's been the recommendation right now again. The decision hasn't necessarily been finalized, but the recommendation from Review board on vaccinations within the CDC has recommended health care workers receive the vaccine first because of their importance in Moving the vaccine program forward without them. We can't get the vaccine out to people. So they've said that they think that health care workers should get it first. And then the other group that should be prioritized as well. Is our people in nursing homes, adult daycare centers, things like that, because of how Just devastating. This vaccine has been within those groups and not just that, not just the high risk that they present but the ease that that would place on the health care system because, as covert 19, it spreads nursing homes and caused people to go in the hospital that has strained Local health care system and strained hospitals by people coming in there. So they say, if we can get vaccines into these nursing homes and places like that, it can have a dual effect of preventing obviously severe illness and death within those nursing homes, but also alleviating strain on the on the health care system at large. F. C. championship preview I don't know why I don't know what the A. C. championships gonna be at this point could be ravens Texans again for all I know but yeah the chief need this one are they still have an outside shot at a by the patriots desperately this enormous lose two in a row in Orkney fall apart December this one is supposed to be.

"Lately. We've got a lot of people using that phone number to get advice about their investments their retirement, and how they can guard their NASDAQ guess bottom line is there's a lot of people out there that are thinking about transitioning into retirement, and maybe the fact that we're on the radio and they've got some questions to ask. And they're looking for somebody to ask them to I guess, we're kind of right place right time because it has been very busy. It's typically busy. But maybe it's just the season. Yeah. Could be well, let's dive into some conversations that people are wondering about because it doesn't matter. How wealthy you are social security is one piece of your overall retirement income plan. But what is the ideal age for claiming that many people trying to figure out their break even point? But Morningstar's Mark Millar says it's more complicated than that. Especially if you're married, you should have a couples approach to planning, and there's a whole set of strategies that can be employed there with once people do reach full retirement age, you know, with a delayed claim for the higher earning spouse bring up the lifetime earnings of the couple and particularly the woman who's likely to outlive. The man I love it. When we talk about this as a woman, I get so excited that I'll be alone for a long time after you jokers pass away, you he mentioned a set of strategies what sort of strategies might be best for people listening. I mean, I know you look at this as part of the big picture of someone's portfolio when you're doing. Comprehensive financial plan. Right. You need to know what the strategies are. But I don't think that we need to get caught up in all the noise. It does concern me that there are a lot of advisors or financial firms that use this topic of social security specifically in their marketing. I mean, they're literally trying to fill rooms with a whole bunch of people that want to. I mean, they're they're learn about social security, but then the agenda of the person putting on the seminar isn't really to get you information on social security. It's to sell you financial products. I, you know, I don't know personally. I feel like that's a little bit disingenuous it is valuable information. But you don't have to commit to getting it in that way. But let's talk about why it's important. He went through a couple of things there. I talked about full retirement. He's referring to something called full retirement age for most of the people listening. That's going to be age sixty six to sixty seven and essentially, that's when social security declares that they're going to give you your full benefit. Now, if you wait to get that benefit, you can wait up to the age of seventy and it basically increases. By eight percent per year. So we we also heard him mention, basically, you and your spouse, right? Say husband and wife and even coming into this Kristen. You know? Hey, I'm really looking forward to living longer women do typically live longer. It doesn't always happen. But there are some strategies that for individuals that are particularly concerned about that. And they want to make sure that their wife is going to get the maximum security benefit that they could possibly get. If the husband was pass away. There are some strategies to increase that. Now, a lotta times the husband might delay taking their social security until seventy because their wife would inherit their social security benefit when they pass away Christian. I think what it boils down to is impossible to answer the question which social security benefit or which strategy you should use to maximize your social security benefits unless you actually sit down and look all the numbers look at all the numbers. We'll just look at look at a financial plan. So we get this question a lot which social security strategies. Should I take? I've heard early common thing would be like I've heard everybody should just wait until they're seventeen because then you maximize my so. Well, all right, but you have to incorporate that into the actual financial plan. When are you going to retire? If you're retiring at seventy that's probably not such a bad idea. But what if you're retired at sixty two which is pretty common retired at sixty five or sixty six if you're gonna wait until seventy to take that social security benefit and security benefit is a big part of your income. You're gonna have to supplement not getting that from somewhere else. The money literally has to come from somewhere, and you have to build it into a financial plan. So when you take it how much you're going to get which strategy that you should use really it's part of a much much bigger plan. That's tied to your investments. Other income streams maybe from pensions or real estate or investment income and finding a way to make sure all those things are working together in the best way possible. And then also identifying that, you know. Yeah. It's it's possible that your spouse is gonna live longer than you. What's the best option? Well, it's not as simple as just waiting until you're seventy so anybody who's listening. I know they have concerns about security how it works. I know again because we have these conversations of people every single week. That people just want to make sure they're making the right decision when it comes to social security because you know, in a lotta ways when you make that decision you've just made it for the rest of your life. So making the right decision. I around is a big deal. I if you're listening, and you have concerns, and you just want to take a look at that social security benefit not just as a standalone. But as it relates to your entire financial plan. You know, give us a call. We'll sit down we'll do a complete analysis if your current investments in planning, but then we'll also sit down with you and put together a truly comprehensive financial plan. That's going to not only include this, but include we're the income should come from taxes estate planning. You know, let's incorporated into a total financial plan. And then you'll walk out of our office with that plan, but they can we do this every single week. So if you'd like to come sit down with us and get that analysis and financial planning if you.
