Bucks protest by not playing Game 5
"The NBA's Milwaukee Bucks. The team with the best record in the League decided not to take the floor for game five of their playoff series against Orlando. The players made the decision to call for change following the police shooting of Jacob Lake in Kenosha Wisconsin the later postponed that game as. Well as to whether that were set to take place. The cause was later taken up by the WNBA several baseball teams, several major league soccer teams, and tennis player Naomi Osaka former. NBA Player Chris Webber gave emotional analysis of the Milwaukee players decision last night delivering a powerful message on what would have been the live telecast of the game we understand is not gonna end but that does not mean young men that you don't do anything. Don't listen to these people telling you don't do anything because it's not going to end right away. You were starting something for the next generation and the next generation to take over you have to be smart. Yes. Do you have to make sure that you have a plan. Yes. Do you have to be articulate about that plan? Yes. All of those things but that's what you're going to do. They're professionals they know how to be the best of themselves. And so I applaud it I applaud it because it is the young people is the young people leading the way. And I applaud. "I'm trying to make a little bit of a joke out of this, but I I'm a little worried about a man. I don't know if this is entirely healthy. I understand why they did it and I don't mean healthy from a safety standpoint. I just mean like from an ethical standpoint. I've already noticed that ESPN has put disclaimers at the bottom of their calms. I think that's excellent I hope that continues I think that's a nice first step. Most people don't care about that, but I think it is important. And I also worry about the access side because we know that. ESPN. TNT is going to have to have a lot of talent. On hand to cover these things just whether it's sideline, reporters or broadcasters or everything else. And how available will it be for outside? Independent media to be able to live in the bubble isn't even going to be an option. How much is it? GonNa cost. We'll be cost prohibitive to their media organizations, and then how much oversight will be from third? Parties. It's an issue that I was concerned about actually during during the whole China fiasco with Hong Kong last year with the NBA just started to basically shut down. Not have a media access periods. Players look this is. A one time thing in the NBA Kinda swore would never happen again, and then the coronavirus hits, and the NBA kicks in media out of the locker room, and on that one I totally understood I thought it made sense from a social distancing standpoint, but you know I'm just worried about this trend here and I hope that there is an effort to keep. The balance of independent voices within whatever the media sphere is of these playoffs, because you're alternately like we could be going forward into next season, needing to use a bubble to, and we don't want a situation where the only stories that are being told about the league for like eighteen months are stories that are being told by you know. Media partners with clear conflicts of interest I think that would be very damaging to the overall presentation of the sport and just to the. To the average viewers experience I realized that not very many people probably care about this stuff nearly as much as I do, but I do think it's important. I could not agree with you more and. In a time where? The possibility of something, not I don't to say nefarious something wrong happening the tries to get covered up or gleaned over is higher than it would normally be would want. You know you would want ethical journalism, and you would not want a conflict of interest that is so blatant to be covering. The event, so you know I. Could you know I? Don't want to like Belabor this point, but let's say you know someone like a let's say. A star gets coronavirus and. They somehow or whatever decide to instead of benching Lebron James or Anthony Davis for seven days and quarantining them and risking the Lakers not going to the championship, or whatever they just kind of sweeping under the rug and don't tell anybody, and no one asks the right questions, and then you get the soul controversy, so I'm not saying that that would ever happen, but it. It's a possibility that would not otherwise exist. No doubt no doubt hopefully never comes to that. I actually trust the NBA's. Integrity on that. Front I did too yeah when it comes to the the testing, but I would also love the NBA to release their entire testing protocol here as soon as possible so that we can kind of hold it up to independent medical scrutiny, so the players can. Hear all about it from a source. That's not just the NBA itself, and that know everybody would probably feel more comfortable after that takes place. And I think you know that's another situation where I feel like we're kind of banging that. Drum ourselves as independent media people because you know the the League's partners obviously have a motivation there to to not do so to you know just kind of go along and get along with the League. All right two more quick wants to this thing out Michael. How many owners do you think are going to be in the bubble? Obviously going to be a real imposition on their normal lifestyle of private jets and helicopters and everything else so we'll. Any of the owners submitted the bubble. Do any candidates who are like the most likely in the least likely to join the bubble. So starting with most likely I've got five, and it was actually very difficult to get to five. They are Steve Bomber. Mark Cuban clear number one into you're doing great. Yeah, that was very obvious. They're the most front facing owners in the league. And then I went I went genius number three. obviously the Lakers. Mark Lazarie of the bucks just because I feel like. You know he does interviews. He's a pretty. He's not the most famous owner. But he's the owner or part owner of a championship favourite I would assume that he would want to be a part of it. Associated himself with it, and then those were like the top four that I had, and then for number five just said Wick Gross BEC because he's a relatively young owner, and he's owner of the Boston. Celtics and they're pretty good team so. For a second there I thought you were saying he's one of your relatives as part of Boston Celtics. And I was like wait a minute Michael. What are you saying here? Well I think that the right answer is to. I think we maybe could see like Lazarie or maybe genie come for the finals like at towards the end of it. If there's a situation where maybe you could be awarded trophy, but I don't feel like either. One of them is going to be devoting two months of their life to this like I. think that there's only really two guys who might be there for the whole long haul, and it would be bomber in Cuban. I also don't think I. don't even think those two would be there for the long haul. Think that they'll make routine appearances I. Guess Cuban could conceivably be there for the whole thing because his team will probably not be there very long right right well. Here's the problem with the routine appearances. Though that's not how bubbles work right like you. Get in the bubble. You can't just pop back out of the bubble, so yeah, maybe there will be some strategizing to you know if you're a bomb or you say all come after the first round and stay for the rest of the way if you're Cuban, you say I'll show up right at the beginning because we're going to be out possibly in the first month. But I think it's just an interesting dynamic. I ask a question because the optics factor. It's like we're kind of sending all these players often into this bubble, and there's this health risk, and meanwhile the owners are sitting back, saying I'll just stay at home. Tell us tell us how it goes. I'll be watching on TV. It's a little weird. You know and I also think on that same standpoint. It would be good for Adam silver to be visible at this thing and to be in attendance. I think that would go a long way to. Projecting the right image about NBA involvement. And so from that standpoint. You know I think it's something to consider. Like we heard over the weekend, what what did Biden say? Oh, yeah, you know Obama. Never went down in the bunker. He said he'd stay up with the people and send me down to the bunker if there was ever situation there's something to that this idea that we're all in it together and that..

"Of course it's possible I mean I just don't know more at this point I mean there's another factor would. That make to the seasonality of this virus. Can you talked to a lot of experts? A little clear? Some have a theory that as Just as with the common flu season, as as the weather, changes we may see it begin to Peter out a little bit I mean can. We don't know so you know at this point we're just. We're just waiting. Maverick's owner mark. Cuban also offered this just the other night on a time line. We have a lot of flexibility because there's nothing that happens after. After June twelfth when we typically under season, so it's more important for us to get it right. And of course Cubans talking about his situation there in Dallas. There are plenty of NBA arenas around the country that do have commitments over the summer that could not maybe accommodate an NBA season that extends into late June July August i. mean who the Heck knows, right? Right now I'm not gonNA. Ask you what believe because none of us have a clue in terms of the season will come back, but let's just say it does, and it's clearly truncated because I don't think believes it's going to be before four six weeks whatever it would be. What should the League do the rest of the way you know? Should you start immediately with? With the playoffs, should you try and wrap up a couple of week regular season, and then have a shortened postseason meaning, same number of rounds, but shorter series. That type of thing. What what do you believe should happen? Well? It's hard to say should partially because there's GonNa be so many different issues that factor into this including the timing of when it's permissible or To restart. And it's hard to say should also just because we have no idea as we sit here today. Where this thing is going, how much further it may spread how mu- how much more serious it may get? But I would just say this in a broad outline discussed this again with with Mark Lazarie on my podcast, and I talked to a couple of people around the league over the last couple of days about this I feel like if we can take as a given, and we can't, but let's just assume for the sake of argument that the thirty day window is the window that at the end of that thirty day pause that Adam silver announced. Things have calmed down the spread has slowed you know things are getting back to normal in daily life. Sports Leagues are all ramping back up. People returning to their. And their schools and we can just start an start. The NBA again in mid April. Well, that's one the normally. Start I. Think the cleanest way to do this. As unfair as it seems to people, and these are extreme circumstances, so we shouldn't be talking about things like fairness, and whatever I think you just freeze the standings where they were the other night..

'cause if you're the Los Angeles Lakers, as an example, and you don't get one of the four kings. Okay. Are you honestly, going to say this up? All right. We will offer nNcholas vich a four year Matt. So we will offer KENDALL Walker a four year max and take ourselves out of the running for a guy like a guy like if they Davison twenty twenty but maybe make ourselves a playoff team next year. Or do you go to plan C and you say, you know what? Let's, let's trade our number four pick. Let's try to get Bradley Beal. Let's try to get Michael Conley? Or do you go with plan, you know, D, which is let's not go to anybody. Let's just save our salary cap space enrolled over another year. Trying to sign DeMarcus cousins on a one year contract. These are all things to me that are way, more fascinating and more revealing about about. Well, run teams and well thought out plans and what we ultimately decide you're Kevin ultimately decides in a scenario where they may change their mind a couple of times between now and July and what we think doesn't matter what matters is what Linda Rambus thinks. Let's just remember that. When I went horse, I guess, I kid there, there's a report that, that seems to have ruffled similar walkie feathers in that. They clearly have a big off season after having an incredible regular season and up until the last four games, a remarkable run through the playoffs. What do you think their roster looks like next year? Well, they've got an interesting decision because they're put they've only paid the luxury tax one time in their history. And it was like eighteen or nineteen years ago, these this ownership group has never paid the luxury tax and to keep this team together, you're looking at probably paying the tax depending on what you pay Malcolm Brogdon. But i'll. Honesty. I feel like he's probably going to get paid. And so it's going to be a tax team. And you have to Zam is this team, worst locking yourself into are they good enough to win a championship? Secondly, and and I don't have an answer by this is going to play out, but you lie. I there's a switch in ownership control in Milwaukee. This isn't unusual thing. It's hard to get your arms around. It's hard to know what will happen, but the bucks have two primary owners Wesley Edens. And Marc Lazarie will even has been the, the Major Guy running the organization for the last five years, whenever there was a big decision. Even got the final word. Now, they would tell you that ultimately, they, they come together, and they make a decision, but there was a disagreement on general manager a couple of years ago, and it took Edens, basically to use his veto power. Well now Mark Lazarie comes in on July first. How does Mark Lazarie feel about paying Chris, Milton a five-year max contract? How does he feel about, you know, keeping nNcholas? Amir catch, but does he let him walk? What do they do to keep Lopez?.

This is the business of sports from Bloomberg radio with scout Sasha, neck, Michael Barr, and Evan Novi. William. Thank you very much for joining us on the Bloomberg business of sports. We are here each and every week you at the same time talking to the biggest names in sports big one on this show. We are talking with Milwaukee Bucks owner westerns west like ask you a question about the valuation of the team as of now it is valued at one point thirty five billion dollars. How high can it? Go. I think you know, that the answer the act has a lot to get the NBA or why? And I think my perspective on it is that there's an awful long way to go. And that then you could trickles down to the clone sina one by one, and I think. Contagion of the sport. And of the body is tremendous. I try. And visited are the NBA kademi. There are Senegal would eventually John Young kids all, you know, going to be you know, Jaanus or July eat or over there. There are. And talk about the I think, you know soccer. I'll be I think basketball is right there as well. And with that comes interest interest. What media comes gonna violation, right? That's those things at all four of results from league owners either way not a bad not a bad turn for for five hundred fifty million dollar investment. Right. It doesn't matter unless you saw you know on to sell it. That's for sure. So, but we we were fortunate enough to making best friend light as going in on that obviously into our nation. It seems you know, very camping out, but you know, our purchase price on bother to fifty dollars was the highest ever pay one chest on that record lasted for about three weeks. Four bomber paid to international culture. Is yet. You know, I think it com per taping. Novel, and it's only gonna gone from that west nobody could have predicted what happened with Donald sterling. Was there any part of you in the ownership group, you already committed to the bucks, and by the way, sports bankers? They all said the five fifty bills, they're nuts. So you've proven member on. But was there any part of you when the clippers came up that? Oh, if we just a few weeks, we could have had literal beachfront property in pro sports, you know. In some the walkie a quick trip away. We wanted to do close to stand. You know, I was going to be a dream to own a engineer hometown. Franchises. Don't confer sale. You know, very often at all. So john. I think he's been a wonderful job up there. What they have to equate sports town hit done. Incredible. You know partners of ours. You know franchise, and we didn't think about you bought the bucks with Mark Lazarie pretty quickly in you brought on Jamie deneen and Mike facet tally. How did the four? You guys kind of divvy up decision making is one of, you know, the ultimate decision maker is it all unanimous on how does that process? Go visit partnership, you get away with the league structured is you have to have, you know, one person you can leave now for a period of time person for the first five years to me. It's five years. It's just about often they'll switch over to Mark the five years and then back to me and of the five years for now. But the truth is on all the materials decision. You know, so taking coach general manager your president. You know, those are the enemies decisions. And you know, he's got a good process. We have. Agreed that either actually agreed that the cops. Very good. Excellent. What's been the stickiest decision process? You know, there's a couple of personnel that we had disagreements about. And I think more just not a big that you're trying to accomplish. And you know, I think that. Yeah. About sports we say if they have all just have public it as as far as disagreement business, go I'd say, he's very minor. And not me, no wordy when sports becomes you know, the cover of, you know, a newspaper someplace so. But there there has been anything. No all that. Which is that have a chance to win an NBA title wanted to have a best in class. Then you want to be the best. We could be for the city state and the people out there. Those shared values and saying you re as a cost on all those fronts, then anything else kind of does fall into place up next week continue our conversation with Milwaukee Bucks owner Wentz. Edens about their star player Janas onto the combo say it again bar just for fun Jaanus onto McComb poll. Love it love it. I would make a message that I have you know, to be fair, it's a couple of different ways. But could do it without my head? I wouldn't do. "Mitchell Robinson looks really good. But he's young and he's still kinda raw Dennis Smith junior. A lot of doubts about him around the league. Kevin knox. There's some troubling signs through his rookie season. And I've heard a lot about his lack of motor. From inside that building. So you need a supporting cast Acadian kyri know this better than anyone Katy Perry Zion as a rookie exciting. But are they going to be able to win at the highest level immediately? I don't know us doesn't generally win. Can you flip on for AG or other high powered elite talent who are veterans? Can you turn Kevin Knox and some picks into veterans because they're going to need a veteran cast if you're going to try to take down, and let's just assume stability with the rest of the top of the us. That's a -ssume that the bucks keep their supporting cast. You wanna knock off Jonathan that group? You're going to need a veteran crew. You wanna knock off Philly if they keep Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler and still have beaten Simmons. You're not doing it with a bunch of kids you wanna compete with Toronto with Kawhi stays. You're not doing it with a young roster that you're just taking off the scrap heap with what's left of your like, I say, you have capital you've kept exceptions of that point minimum salaries they need to put together a full team. Not just a couple of stars. We've seen this in the NBA. Just one stars never enough to stars at a bad supporting cast can get knocked out in the first round look at the Oklahoma City thunder. They've got Russell Westbrook and Paul George two of the top ten players in the NBA, arguably they're going to finish in the seventh or eighth slot in the west and probably out in the first round. And look at the Lakers. They've got LeBron and a bunch of young players that we have no idea how that's going to all work out. Howard Beck Bleacher report here on the rich Eisen show. Let's finish up our conversation with the bucks. They did clinch. Best record throughout in the NBA. So how viable are they as an Eastern Conference champion that can go west? And the throwing the warriors how how realistic is that? This is what I love about the bucks rich in about this season in general now LeBron is out of the east and we've seen this wide open race. Now, that's the bucks can emerge and should be the favorites to emerge for obvious reasons. They're gonna top defense one of the top offenses best record all that. But Philly and Boston. Yes. I still believe in Boston and Toronto or all legit to come out of the east as well. We'll see how it plays out matchup saw something to do with it health luck. All that stuff. What I love about the bucks in particular, though, is that they might just upend this super team era. We are so used to this now where you have to have two guys three guys in the case of the warriors four guys the bucks have one older respect Chris Middleton who who made the all star team and the rest of the cast good players. But no, it's. This is not Wade LeBron and Bosh this is not curry Durant. Green. And and clay. This is Janas any perfectly calibrated supporting cast with the exact right coach who got the most out of them. And if they can emerge from the east that's victory already for small markets and for teams doing it a different way if they can somehow push the warriors. Yes, I'm assuming the warriors. If they can push them to six games in the finals, if they can somehow beat them in the finals, I just we need that we need somebody to finally prove there's a different way to win. There's an antidote to the super team because not everybody can build a super team, and especially smaller markets or the non glamour markets as I call them. They need a different formula. They need to know that it's possible to have any hope because it's it's tough in today's NBA, especially when guys are conglomerate thing in the big markets, and you've got the bucks owner on your he's coming on your Mark last week coming on the podcast today. Yes. Looking forward to his name was mentioned by Brian cop bringing this whole thing. It full circle it all craters billions saying that. He reached that. He David LeVine. The co-creators are on the show yesterday reached out to him. To just get into the mind of a billionaire, and what's it like to be in that stratosphere they've consulted with a bunch of them, including Mark Lazarie? And I will be asking him about that at length. Of course, I guess because all roads eventually the back to billions as we great. Thanks for coming on in person. Howard absolutely here. "Now, what you have to turn yourself into what kind of emission fuels, you right to become not somebody who's made a nice living or not somebody who's got a couple of houses, but somebody who's worth billions of dollars. And as Dave said, we were fortunate enough to get the hang around even when we were starting it with a couple of people like this, and then as its gone, we've met more. So there are there are billionaires like Mark Lazarie who owns the bucks who spent a lot of time with us talking about it. And this is after the show after we made the pilot of the show. And so we got insight from from last, and there are a couple of lines that he said that ended up in the show Lazarie said to us, listen, there are plenty of people who can do the math fewer people can explain it. And if you can do both you become a billionaire, and that's something that the owner of the buck stone or the bucks told us because the way he built he was a hedge fund guy who built his fortune that way. And if you've ever been around, Mark, it's. Amazing. His ability to connect with everybody. Most people who are good at doing the structural side of that kind of very complicated. Investing are math geeks, and they really have a much harder time. Enlisting you, but Mark Lazarie can sit down and make everybody in this room feel like his best friend. And so the character is not at all based on Mark. We'd already written it and created it before that right? But guys like Mark Cuban's been on the show seen you've been giving us a lot of his time. "You so much. You are listening to Bloomberg BusinessWeek Carol Massar along with Jason Kelly said we're gonna talk about that big deal whilst they didn't get into an interesting story in the private equity space about a new venture to issue collateralized loan obligations. This folks is among our most read stories on the Bloomberg on this Monday. Also, March madness it's here. So we'll talk with a math professor at Davidson college. He's got an NC double a BRAC Ptolemy class. So we'll talk to him about that first though, let's get the BusinessWeek agenda. We've got Joe Weisenthal markets editor at Bloomberg news, co host of wedge amiss coming your way at four PM Wall Street time on Bloomberg TV he's in our Bloomberg interactive brokers studio along with Dave Wilson are stocks editor at Bloomberg news. Sedav set the tone. I feel like it's tick tock we're just kind of waiting for that fed meeting. A lowest some other big macro stories this week. Well, there is that. But in the absence of those events, I mean, you still seeing stocks build on what they did last week. So, you know, it's funny if you look at the last two weeks, or so you can argue it's sort of a smaller version of what we saw the last four months. I mean think about December stocks fall out of bed and then right after Christmas, then you get the recovery and we've made back the losses, and then some now had that hesitation week before last new five days down in a row for the S and P five hundred last week four or five up best week of the year. And we're getting more of a today. So you're almost getting to the point where the records that we set last September. Or so that the next hurdle for stocks. And you know, obviously, there's a lot of the movement that would have to happen between here and there, but there are also catalysts. The fed policy meeting or whatever that could lead to that happening. I gotta say Joe what I love is everybody just saying, hey this bull market. It's really long for it to come to an end. And we keep hearing that over and over again. And here we are each weird because you all of one day you'll hear someone's like, oh, we're in the ninth inning or specific. And then the next thing you hear the same person. Take markets don't die of old age. She is just repeat these phrases over and over again. But I do think that people say bull markets don't die of old age. They don't really internalize it. And because it's been going on for ten years. They think the next shoe must be about to drop or something must be on the corner. Just because it's been so long, and I do think that the missing piece to that line of thinking. So we have little mini bursts bust Q four last year was one thousand eleven we saw one beginning of two thousand sixteen we saw in twenty fifteen so it's not like we don't have sharp downturn hasn't been just a straight line out. You do get these periods. Where sort of the imbalances pop, and it sort of resets itself makes me think if the market now is a different type of market where we kind of have these things build up they burst quickly, and then we kind of resume our upper trend. That's what it feels like it. Also, I think the fed very specifically would like to pop many bubbles rather than let it big bubble emerge. I just have this portrait of like J up in a mini bubble here. And there. Got it. Exactly. What's interesting to me with Mark Lazarie a little bit earlier about an hour and a half ago and one of the things he was saying from because he's a distressed investor. And he said, you know, we don't need necessarily a big correction or a recession. But we would like to see is just like, you know, growth slowing down a little bit some idiosyncrasies that we can take advantage of it in the market. So everything not falling apart. Right. But opportunities presenting themselves continue to see Dave. We do you. The question now is going to have another opportunity come out of what's going on with earnings because let's face it. You know, we've seen this year. Stocks move up and earnings estimates come down and again now have analysts looking for a first quarter decline, an S and P five hundred earnings. So what happens from that? Do you get to quarters it gives you an earnings recession at least knew some people describe it. You know, the Dan get the recovery later in the year. And how does that play out? I mean, these are all elements that may set us up for another move, quadruple witching. We got on Friday does that. I don't know what happens after that. Do we ever see any kind of specific movement or historically thing I've seen in that regard? Can't remember the strategist off hand is that the week after tends to be not so great. But here we are looking at an S and P five hundred this higher. It's been higher for most of the day. So we'll see if that track record has any bearing on where we are. Now. I love it Lucar. Why did you see this story about eight lows? It's a flow rider market structure, Jeffries, chief market strategist, David service is apparently going back to that hit. There's a track a chorus where he says low eight consecutive times. Anyway, he gets into this thing. And he explains why the US markets are heading even higher. This to me sounds a little tight. Controversy with the story about how many people would get that reference. Yeah. I don't think many people read to get any Carol would automatically now writer I mean fan, but yeah, that's. But I just feel like, you know, everybody's kind of trying to explain this environment. Kind of where we are. What about what we get from the fed come Wednesday? Is there anything we get a new? I call it. The scatter platter. Interesting that we get a new dot plot. There will be a new job. Pretty interesting. I have this thing. The scatter platter. Scatter platter better. Thank you should be interesting because everybody expects, you know, pretty big downshift, but it's much more down. That's the important thing. There's been a massive repricing of expectation since the last dodge, and is the is the across the board is the FOMC really all going to drop its dodgers aggressively as the market has that does raise. The question is like maybe there will be some hawker surprise on the out there like, yeah. Like, we're patient, but we're not done hiking. Yeah. Could be a message in could give the market a little bit of rude surprise entirely possible. I mean, considering you know, you look a few months out, and you see sort of built in projections that we're going to get rate cuts. So who knows? Dave wilson. Went out to people because we are on radio. The Dave Wilson is wearing a fortune cookie. Tie with the bunch of fortunes all over it. Maybe you'll read some of those later on the show 'cause you'll be back with us for your chart inside today. Joe Weisenthal sending you off to do. Some the co host of what minutes coming up at four PM Wall Street time wanted to debate. I read just one of them had I guess we'll get to it later. Let's get to the Bloomberg markets part of the day one number that tells us a lot today's number is two point one billion dollars lift seeking to raise as much as two point one billion dollars in its initial public offering value the firm at up to eighteen point five billion dollars number two US ride hailing giant behind Uber. Offering thirty point eight million shares at sixty two dollars to sixty eight dollars each. That's according to a regulatory filing today, and it would be at this targeted range would be the biggest from tech upstarts in snap. Went public two years ago, the largest in the US so far this year after the partial government shutdown put a damper on first quarter listings, we talked about that. Right. That was one of the effects of it with the government shutdown people couldn't get there. Their listings in and we're gonna have much more on lift coming up in just a few minutes. We're gonna catch up at the newcomer like I know so much about that in Denmark. It was that far fun doing sports. Oh my God. So so anyway, so he couldn't get Kareem. He was going around trying to talk to cream and try to get him for this story. And then each just runs into Magic Johnson at a game when he was in LA and said, hey, what do you think a yawn is etc? Imagine give sort of a glowing quote saying, yeah, he's one of the great young players in this game. And he approached him not as magic executive for the Lakers. But as Magic Johnson hall of Famer played with Korean for all those years, you go up to luminaries like that. And you ask questions like that sometimes, and they give quotes and I've done that with Jerry West. I remember when Jerry West was with the warriors, and they were playing the Cavs all those years, and there was a a real similarity with Jerry West and LeBron and their careers and having it's a bad one in a way they lost in the. Finals a lot toge. You know, LeBron apparently had been reading Jerry's book where he talked about how he dealt with losing in the finals. And there it was a it was a natural angle. And a lot of us reporters wrote about that we talked to Jerry about LeBron. And it was this is his role as a legend of the game and not as a role as a warriors consultant. He's not trying to recruit LeBron. Oh, none of us thought. There was any issue. Nobody raise an eyebrow. When magic had those comments about Janas. And then he got fine. I think it was it was half a million dollars a lot of money. And and it was a lot for that. That's really a fight for a minute. The Kimmel thing was one thing. Like, you're gonna well this is shown as I can shed a little light on tampering is a very very serious issue in the NBA office because they're getting it from all the small markets. And I mentioned you, Michael. And I get reminded all the time. It got reminded recently that we cannot talk. About players on other teams in a free agency context. And sometimes we fall into the trap. I'm guilty of it and Michael's guilty of it. And it's you know, if we if we don't adhere strictly to that rule. They'll be other people doing Laker games. I mean, that's how serious take it. Now, the differences the differences what you said magic is a global ambassador, and I would hope that common sense dictates here that he said very clearly the Sixers would have to sign off the league would have to sign off or it's not going to happen. And then he he said some nice things about him, which is going back to your Nick for story. The one that you know. Magic as a global ambassador should be allowed to say Jerry West as global ambassador should be allowed to say nice things. Now, if there's tampering involved, they'll do it and people below the level of global icon, and I can speak to this personally are going to start getting in trouble. If they don't follow this rule strictly says, here's here's a magic. I think you need to cut a little slack. I think you do. But I don't think he will get cut any slack because find him I do and the owner of the bus got find the other day to you. You know, they're trying to take a much more. He made comments about Anthony Davis. It was just Mark Lazarie. He's the co owner he got fined twenty five thousand dollars. They're trying to take..
