"First, let's get the democratic side of the debate with Sabrina Singh from the DNC mornings Sabrina. Good morning. Thanks for having me. So throughout the last government shutdown. We heard Republicans saying that Democrats didn't offer solutions for border security. What do you think Democrats are willing to offer right now? I think House Democrats with under the leadership. If you have been very clear, we certainly want to strengthen our security at the border, but what that does not entail building an unnecessary wall. But Democrats wanted to strengthen the ports of entry. I think last week. There was a story about a huge drive by that happened in Arizona that that happened at a port of entry. And we need to do is actually strengthen the security at ports of entry. We need to put more border patrol agents. They are we need to heighten and improve our technology. And I think that's something that Democrats are willing to work with Republicans on you know, an unnecessary wall. From almost every single member on both sides of the democratic and Republican members that represent bordertown in congress don't want is supportive of a while going up. So that you know, Democrats are willing to work across the aisle on certain with certain compromises, but a wall, it's not. One of them Sabrina, if the president came to you and Republicans and said, you know, what in exchange for a wall will improve dock and make doctor you want isn't it would that be a good enough compromise to say great? We get the DACA fix. We've always wanted. But yes, you can have your wall. Semantics barrier, you can call it Debra they don't care, but they get that with that work for you. I think right now he's talking about through wall. No, it wouldn't because we we are trying align on the wall. Let's be very clear a DACA fix should have happened long ago. Unfortunately, this president and Republicans in congress are using Docker recipients as pawns, and what we need to do is strengthen our security, but but I can't stress it enough that many people on both sides of the aisle have said a wall is not going to keep out drug trafficker, illegal immigration. It is through the ports of entry that we need to strengthen our security. And so, you know, a wall would be an unnecessary waste. It'd be like lighting money on fire or no reason. And so we're not supportive of that. And we are willing to work across the our colleagues on to find other solutions, but a is not going to be one of them. But the president has said that's a nonstarter. So we will see where this goes Sabrina. Thanks for the time this morning. We appreciate it. Of course. Thank you. That's now. Now, turn to the other side of the aisle and get the Republican perspective on the border debate. We're checking in with the Republican national is Mark laudner. Good morning. Mark. Get one are doing very well. Thanks for joining us. The president says negotiations that don't include the border wall are a waste of time. However, Democrats have repeatedly said no as well. So what do you see the way forward here? Well, there are some reports that they might be coming closer to a deal in congress with the committee of folks in the house and Senate negotiating, but we're going to have to see those details. The president's been absolutely firm as he said Tuesday night to America during the state of the union that we've got to have an all all above water security package, which includes technology people resources that are ports of entry and expanding the barriers in between those ports of entry. Because that's what's truly going to work to keep drugs and criminal activity out of our country is DACA for a border wall. Do you think on the table? I'm not sure if it's on on a table with what they're currently negotiating the president had previously expressed an. Interest in providing a temporary extension of that program while they while congress worked on a broader immigration package. But right now, it seems that there is at least a focus right now. More on the actual border security aspect of this and long-term overhaul of the immigration system. Mark are you are you feel ok that the president hasn't at least two hinted that he's going to declare an national emergency at the southern border. He didn't mention that in the state of the union as he kind of backed off that backed off on it. He's been very clear, and I was at the White House on Monday spoke to the president and the vice president before the speech at the president's been very clear. His preference is for congress to do its job for them to pass border security package, which includes funding for a barrier because that's the way the system is designed to work, but if they refuse to go she ate, then he may have to take executive action in one way or another to ensure that we keep the drugs out of our communities. We stop the trafficking of women and children. Into our country, if another shutdown happens we're talking about next Friday. What's your party's message to federal workers? Well, it's going to continue to be what what it has been in that we respect the fact that so many of them have continued to do their jobs continue to fulfill the missions that they sports perform and that we will get this all just quickly as possible. But it takes two sides of the Goshi eight in so far aside from these negotiations that are taking place in congress. The only response Democrats back to the president has been no RNC's, Mark laudner. And I'm Mary Louise Kelley the federal government is going to be fully open for the next three weeks at least this afternoon. President Trump did something he swore. He wouldn't open the government without funding for a border wall. Why did he do that? And what the? Consequences. Be Mark laudner is here in the studio to take those on. He was a special assistant to President Trump and also served as press secretary to vice president Pence Mark laudner, thanks for stopping by. Thanks for having me. Anyway to read this other than a retreat by the president. I think with the president's doing is taking the Democrats at their word said they would not negotiate while the while the government was closed down. So this gives the government this gives the legislative on the offer. Offer they put on the table thirty five days ago, and he showed his commitment to border security. They showed their commitment to wanting the government reopened. I and now we have an opportunity three weeks. We have conferees that have already been announced from the Senate side. Obviously, the house will follow suit to see if they can actually produce a border security Bill that includes funding for a barrier where the customs and border protection experts think it's most needed thirty five days, eight hundred thousand employees who have gone without pay. What is the president gift for this? I think what. Well, what we're going to get? We're gonna find out we're going to see in three weeks if we can get a deal done. And clearly the Democrats were resolute in their commitment to not negotiating on this issue while the government was shut down the president remained equally committed. But I think when we saw that we've now gone through two paychecks, and we solve the impact of the partial shutdown. Going out into the airports and what we saw today with. I think it just proves that. We've we've got to get the government reopened the Democrats. The. And if the Democrats are serious about negotiating a good faith. I think the president said we'll take you up on that offer. But again, I asked you at the beginning is this a retreat is this retreat. I don't think so because we still have would you choose? I would say we're basically opening up a new opportunity, and that will be if the Democrats want to negotiate on this. They have said from day one and to negotiate from day one. And here we are. And here we are. So we will see we take we have taken the objection. Their main objection off the table now that the government has been reopened. And so let's see if they are serious in following up and having an honest discussion about border security, and when so many Democrats have said in the past and through this shutdown. We've seen Steny Hoyer and others say there are areas where barriers and walls work. So let's see if they can back that up and put that into a Bill that can pass both chambers. What is the message from the White House today to all of the federal workers and their families and communities who've been affected by this? The president went out of his way to say they will get back pay fine. They will not get interest. If they had to take out loans contractors will maybe maybe not. We don't know what's going to happen. If they're going to get paid for the surf they'll be working again. What's the message? Well, I think the first message the president said it today was thank you. Thank you for continuing to do your jobs. Thank you for continuing to honor your mission and your commitment. Even though you weren't getting paid. You'll be getting into four if the president didn't get his wall. Well, we we don't know if the president's going to get the wall, then that's where this next three weeks is going to be critical. The president was absolutely clear today that if by February fifteenth, we don't have a deal in place. We may either inter another government shutdown or he could take the emergency action that is allowed to him under the law to continue and do that Bill border funding and border security without the appropriation in the end the approval of congress. Do you believe that would be the right move to shut down the government again in three weeks if there's still no money for a while? I don't think that's probably where it's going to end up. I don't think anybody on either side of the aisle wants to see that happen again. I think if we can get obviously you're gonna have to have another continuing resolution or a budget a budget agreement to go through the end of October. And then it'll remain to be seen if the president needs to take a -mergency action or other legal. There are a few other legal opportunities. He could pursue. I think when we when we look at it, the president hopes that the Democrats will meet him in the middle. And when you look at the fact that even now five seven almost seven days since the president made his offer last Saturday, we'd still not gotten a counterproposal from the Democrats on what would they accept real quick in a sentence? Do you expect this to play with the president's base? I think they'll be initially upset, and I think when we get to the end game where we are now starting to enter if you can still get border security. They will forget the in and out of Washington, politics and legislative affairs to get us to the end result going to wager. That's going to be a hard sell for. "For me. Because I enjoy the conversation that you're having a lot of good points. Brought forward by both guests, and I think it's something that at some point as as everyone's point out the Democrats wanted this before now, they don't want it because it is more political than actually trying to get something done, which look both sides do this. They've always done that. And they've been trying to get the president did not get elected in twenty twenty. So they feel the Democrats at least feel that the wall doesn't go up that it's going to hurt him and help them. So that's where we're at right now. But as we talked about earlier, I mean, there are already barriers along the us Mexico border. It's just it's not nineteen hundred and seventy two miles long like the border is. But there's spots in California and New Mexico. Arizona Texas that there are some walls. Yeah. So if I'm the president on his team, I'll say, well, we already have walls here. Why can't we expand them into other areas where there could be an issue, and I think just to make this into a yes, no binary choice is unfair. Because there's some give and take the two sides could have and. I think this is where his skills negotiator will come in. Like, you said if he wants to really push this forward, maybe he goes back to visiting Dhaka with the Democrats and gives them something that they can take back to their constituents and please them because that's what the Goshi eating is. In fact, I guess mentioned tip O'Neill tip O'Neill President Reagan. They didn't agree on a lot of things. But they said if we get eighty percent of what we want you know, what that's called a win it solely as a win. Absolutely. And you know, Mark laudner are I guess highlighted I asked why isn't there more maybe traction on DACA, and he pointed out that they're both are both sides are kind of in a holding pattern because the ninth circuit decision. So we have to wait for the supreme court to. Bring down a verdict. Whether or not, you know, Amazon, you know, the whole thing was legal or illegal. So that's why we haven't seen more traction on that. We only have a few more minutes left in the show, and I just wanted courage. Everybody will be back on Fox News in the near future took a little bit of a break. This fall people used to say me on that network every week and just between my mother dying. You know, what that was rough? And then I'm the executive for state, and it's just it's the first time I've ever had to deal with being the executor unraveling a person's estate, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. It is so much work grudge work phone calls letters paperwork. I it's it's just all comes on the heels of losing your mom. It's not like you're doing insurance companies a Medicaid funds, and every time you probably make a phone call and do something you think back your mom, you know. And then, you know, right dealing with their personal facts. And she's still she's still has closed. I need to deal with all of that. So I took a little bit of a break. I haven't been on the air in two months, but I'm going to start going back on Fox News. I'm really excited. I knew I would starting in the new year. So I.

"Former presidents told President Trump as he said that he should have built a wall all their representatives have denied that. That was the case. You know, the president has said that that was his impression from previous administration's previous presidents. I know. I know I've seen clips of previous presidents talking about the importance of porter secure the importance of addressing the issue illegal immigration from telling the president though. Right. But look, you know, honestly, the American people the American people want us to address this issue. And that is by President Mike Pence doing a series of interviews to set. The president set the stage for the president's address tonight at nine o'clock with us right now. Mark laudner former spokesperson for the vice president United States is at is that sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue yesterday more. Buca we expect tonight. I think what you're going to see is the president personalized this. And he's going to make it about the real humanitarian crisis that we have at the southern border. It's not just an issue of immigration. And I know it's very important. But we've got to remember we had sixty thousand people in each of the last few months trying to cross our border illegally. And if you go by the stats from Doctors Without Borders. Not, you know, the department of homeland security or big Doctors Without Borders said a nearly a third of the women who've made that journey have been sexually assaulted seventy percent of those people making the journey have experienced violence. This is a humanitarian crisis, and you know, who knew it President Obama when he was Senator Obama and actually when he was president to listen Bill before us will certainly do some good. There will authorize some badly needed funding for better fences, and better security along our borders, and that should help stem some of the tide of illegal immigration in this country. He was.

So just a couple of minutes. We'll have him. He a close confidante vice President Mike Pence, but I also wanna get your phone calls in and here's the operative question. I just went through the whole debacle with Joaquin Castro showing an extreme hatred and distrust of the police, and when he does that it actually shows people in his it his community his Representative district that they should probably follow suit. I'm going to always fight at the other side. I believe the men and women in blue I hashtag back the blue. But what are your thoughts about it elected official? Are you a member of congress a US Representative somebody who's representing your city? Whatever city you happen to be in right now USA publicly going on Twitter and attacking the police department. Publicly good going on Twitter and inferring that the police are somehow intimidating people. But what does that make you think here's a guy who went in? Congress is protected by good guys with guns many times. He's protected by law enforcement having no problem whatsoever. Alleging law enforcement somehow is looking down there. You know, down there the room of their nose at people go you better not vote that way or passing through and giving them the look in a police car. Does he think his nineteen Fifty-three? What is wrong with this guy? At some point. He's got to answer for his ridiculous, comments and statements. He has to and it just hasn't happened yet. It's the weirdest thing. Eight eight eight nine four one pags joepags dot com. Your thoughts on that got Mark laudner coming up Marcus from the GOP. Engaged just chill out I can tell you there's a lot of people that should just. Stay for rightfully so stay. Out of it because they're, not informed. Enough, they're not smart enough and you know everybody's? Yeah you don't wanna see. In America where every single American is engaged just go, look at Twitter We, will reach greatness when discrimination and stereotyping against women fifty one percent. Of our population is gone Okay yeah good luck good luck you want to. Remove basically human like you shouldn't, act on, stereotypes and you shouldn't like make assumptions based on stereotypes but all a stereotype is is you know it's just your mind sort of filling in blanks about a person or a thing that you don't really know anything about it. Is when he made that statement was on Long Island because. He was certainly living on fantasy island Man Within hours of him saying that his spokeswoman tried to walk. Back the issue, said the governor believes America is, great and that he does not She tried to say that he he does. I said her full greatness will. Be fully realized when every man woman and child has full equality America has. Not yet reached, its maximum potential that's going to, his press secretary Danny lover Slammed a bunch of rebels. And vodkas Vodkas she said when. The, president speaks about making, America great again going back in time he ignores the pain so many, endured, and that we suffered from slavery. Discrimination segregation sexism and marginalized women's contributions the governor believes that when everyone is fully included and that everyone is contributing to their maximum potential that. Is when America will achieve maximum greatness and what was it when dibs on that for for? My. First, album name was that maximum great okay But by the? Way. So The president. "Of diplomatic speak and saying the right thing publicly we still saw in many. Cases our NATO allies as, it relates to their, military contributions or even with trade imbalances with some of our allies and friends that that their actions weren't changing so this is a president who. Is not necessarily going to focus on saying things just the right way he wants to see the action that backs it up we're seeing that with. NATO now which is also not in Russia's best interests we're seeing, it with trade and in this case he's building a relationship with with President Putin in Russia in? So starting from areas where we do, agree is the best way on that relationship Senate Democrats? Are pushing, for a public hearing on why what exactly was said between Putin and Trump? When they were meeting one on one in Helsinki do you think the American people. Deserve to know what if. Anything these leaders agreed I think, what we we have seen is that the president came out they both characterized the meetings in various ways they talked about areas of agreement but they also. Talked about areas of disagreement Russian President Putin said the President Trump made his position very clear on Ukraine. And that is not something where they agree so we. Do know that American interests are being represented and while we can get a. Flavor and a sense of, what's going on in, the room one of the things we need for the long-term security of our country is for those leaders to be able to have very Frank. Conversations in some cases those conversations need to stay between themselves and then we will follow up with the action okay Mark laudner was special assistant to. President Trump and also press secretary to vice President Mike Pence thank, you very much Thank you.

"But. We'll see, what my guest Mark laudner has to say and Devin newness in. The one o'clock hour I just I just had an uneasy feeling now what was that in the meeting the private meeting Dono know could've been some good stuff there I mean I think ultimately these two will work out A good working relationship between the, two countries they're both very pragmatic and. They're both intelligent and I think, they'll get that handled there's no. Doubt in, my mind the Putin was being very? Honest when asked, did. You want, Trump to be, elected and he said yes Would you want to, deal with him or her and for. Their benefit even though I'm sure, they had plenty on her I. Think they, you know Putin would have played it? His way either, way He would. Have come out you know maybe smelling like a rose to his own, people regardless of who is elected but I think. In terms of, the overall, situation for his country I mean they're in trouble You know the the money's not there. Money is. Not worth anything they have parts of their country the turning for basic things like medical supplies. And, foods sounds very third world but. It's true there are parts of Russia that are in that mess right now Donald Trump was, going to be their best, bet to, help them and also prop up Putin remember this, is not all about Russia. This is all about Putin when it comes to Putin and his, fourth term as their president So, I'm going to break a little. Early here and when we come out of this which, should be linking up with Mark laudner From lot of communications and he was, just with this last week I. Forgot what we talked about but he's been able to join us, from the RNC quite a bit and I'm very appreciative of that so he'll be joining. Us on the other side of, this, break and we'll see if. His opinion of this press conference that is anywhere close to mine that's all coming up on Cam Jay and I'm glad you're here I'm. Really glad to hear because if, you're, not here.

"Oppose a nominee who's going to be confirmed yeah and then have it cost them at the ballot box and that's listen that's the real rub that's why he wanted to pretend like there was some midterm election rule that you can't vote on the supreme court nominee which of course isn't truly a kagan was was appointed and she was approved in in two thousand ten and twenty tennis you know the republicans took the house rather hastily and gain seats in the senate it's mark laudner former press secretary for vice president mike pence also former special assistant to the president of the united states can we talk about the loony left for a second please we we we have to mark we have to write because they were protesting there was six hours before the selection was made there were high profile democrats in the senate protesting the selection it hasn't happened yet there was a protest planned on the steps of the supreme court of the united states before the announcement was made i mean he could've come out and he could have announced somebody like us so to my or leica kagan we didn't think it would happen but he could have they had no clue was going to be yet they had four different sets of signs on who to hold up and complained about as soon as the announcement was made at nine pm market they jumped the shark cabbie overplayed their hand here well yes and it's just another example of the professional protester that has become the democratic party i mean they even had one of their groups last night put out a news release were they forgot to take out the blank space put the name in whomever the person that the president was was nominee along with all four names brexit goes question which one did they pass out amongst their amongst their protesters go so this is what we've seen and what's even funnier is when you listen to them on television and on in in the newspaper they're crying a river over the retirement of justice kennedy right but forty years ago they said that he was a threat to women was a sexist he was not qualified to sit on the united states court now flash forward forty years later and they're crying that his retirement is the end of the world order is they know it and so this is what they do they've done it for decades they will continue to do it and it's not working it hasn't worked won't work once again i agree with you it's at mark marcy underscore l o t argo follow them on twitter mark laudner former press secretary for vice president mike pence also former special assistance the president you're right about that because he was going to overturn roe remember the thirty some odd years later he didn't do it the court hasn't done it it isn't up for debate right now there is no case right now waiting to be heard by the supreme court when it comes to roe v wade when it comes to gay marriage when it comes to fill in the blank leftist issue let me ask you this though you and i both have friends who are democrats i talked to a guy last night who is a blue dog democrat a kennedy democrat and he was really sort of winding on the phone about what the hell happened to my party if you're a democrat if you're somebody who traditionally thought you were a democrat how do you look at these new this new fangled leftist movement you've got to think that's it the party's over is that why we're seeing people leaving the democrat party in droves well and it doesn't surprise me i mean i'm from the midwest as you know joe anybody there who who was a blue dog democrat they've gotta they've gotta be shaking their heads right now because the democrat party has been taken over by the radical left it's now more a party of maxine waters and chuck schumer nancy pelosi than ever before and they're more about and they're showing it they'd rather play games than actually put up the votes for a highly qualified nominee let's let's not forget joe ruth gator.

"Iheartradio joepags dot com also newsmax tv the joe pags show thanks for showing up and thanks again to mark laudner we're coming back he's a former press secretary for vice president mike pence and a special assistant to the president right yes mark it's always a pleasure man how are you i'm doing well how are you i'm doing i'm doing great it's quite the day i was on fox on sunday cream day is as a matter of fact nice i'm gonna use that i was on fox was asked about the pick and everybody seemed to think that the president was going to nominate somebody like like any a what is it going right here maybe cody barrett i always forget the middle part that cody part but i said it wasn't going to happen because she would would be easy to attack by the left the left is me as to clear the going to attack whoever this person was going to be and the president was somebody who i thought was more pragmatic choice in inbred kavanagh because mark correct me if i'm wrong we don't really know where this guy is an abortion or roe v wade nor should we know now what we do know is that his body of work and everything is said to date shows that he supports the defense the constitution and it's written and not how liberals want it to be but it really wouldn't have mattered i mean president trump could have resurrected george washington himself nominated and chuck schumer would have already voted you know we've already cast the deciding vote of no right and i think you're absolutely right about that what's interesting is what you just said is the definition of the job you're supposed to be somebody who takes the constitution or foundation or cornerstone in this country and then ways laws or ordinances or executive orders against it it's not about actually when we're talking about roe v wade into the weeds on this but what they did in nineteen seventythree really was legislate from the bench they didn't allow the states to decide as they should have in the tenth amendment so the idea that somehow any of these candidates that the president was was thinking about whether it's catholic or coney buried or cavanaugh i like mike lee by the way it didn't really matter who who it was they don't really want somebody who is a constitutionalists because that'll go against what they want to see in the court right you're absolutely right what the democrats have done over the last many years is try to legislate do the judicial branch what they can't get done at the ballot box or through the halls of congress and it's something that the president said he was going to put a stop to and you're even starting to see the supreme court and other and other judges step up and put a stop to it themselves they are not the legislative branch and as judge cavanaugh set himself his job is to put aside his personal believes his personal opinion rule on the law as it is written and leave making law up to congress it mark laudner former press secretary for vice president mike pence also former special assistant to the president of the united states so do we lose collins mccaskey or because we don't know where he is on on roe v wade then you probably can keep them in the in the mix and do you get one or two or even three red state democrats who are up reelection well i'm not sure about those two specifically i mean i can tell you that i was very encouraged when you saw senator john mccain who obviously has has a very public disagreements with president trump immediately put out a statement praising this election i think when you look at the conservative groups that are more on the on the further right of our spectrum to the moderates in the middle of john mccain all coming out embracing this big it bodes well for the future the other question though is this is up to chuck schumer it's up to those red state democrats is is he going to leave them on a suicide march to.
