"But anyways, the thing about him that is so that that's just you know, the reason that I think Ted Bundy will be discussed longer than a lot of the people who've done similar acts is that typically with serial killers. The there is the desire to immediately portray them as a monster by focusing on the like Jeffrey Dahmer like he was a cannibal. It would ever, you know. Now, you know, John Wayne goes he dressed as a clown like the most grotesque thing about him. But with Ted Bundy, the beginning of any story about him starts with how it tracked if he was and how he was so charming and how it's like a he is the one serial killer who actually was this personification. That you sometimes see in bad fictional films about serial killers, the attractive likable sort of person the the well educated. So I've talked about this on on the last pouted briefly. I think his attractiveness was overrated. I just think he was way more attractive than John. Wayne, gay see some of these other people. So I said he was serious or handsome if he wasn't like JFK junior. We'll see Mark Harvard. It was much better than. But yeah, I remember, I remember it was the deliberate stranger that Ted Bundy move with Mark Harmon in that was fucking creepy. Like him drive around in the buggy and all that stuff. But you know, the seventies for serial killers. It was just a gravy train? 'cause you re people are still hitchhiking. Nobody's using alarms and the police Dino yet, no computers back, then you could just you could kill somebody. Then kill somebody thirty minutes away. And they wouldn't even know it was the same earlier the crazy thing in this Ted Bundy thing when he escapes the second time he goes to Florida kills five more people than they catch him. And they don't know what his name is. And they have no idea. It's the Ted Bundy who's atop tied future. Sure. Yeah. For days. I mean, that's this is a question that sort of is like a true crime question. It's could we have a Syracuse. We'll know it's like hill like the book, the devil in the White City that talks about a serial killer during the Chicago world, fair, right? Yeah. And that's one of the few documents. We have of you know, a guess Jack the ripper would be another. There's a limited number of stories about serial murdering before you get to like the sixties the seventies. And then there's just times. So there is I think of a central question of that is serial murder in extension of modernity like did the world change in a way that created this possibility in people or as always existed, but in the past because you know, the way we solve crimes in the way, we covered crimes with so much different that we did not recognize that actually fourteen seemingly unrelated murders were done with the same person. Like, no one knows the answer this question. But it's an interesting thing to think about could something of changeable society that introduced the idea that certainly seems to have happened with mass murderer like mass murderer is a relatively new phenomena. Did the? Three point line change mass murder. The the thing with the Syracuse these days, I don't know if it could happen again. 'cause I I think the technology the DNA stuff the fact that you have more cameras than ever that, you know, like in the Ted Bundy when he takes he goes down to a park, and he just takes these two girls. Now, you'd cameras all over the place you'd have somebody who's taking who's filming their two year old daughter and Ted bundy's in the background. I just don't get away with it. I don't think anybody could kill more than I don't know the the six or seven so like would you arguing that like the situation with like son of Sam like David Berkowitz? Yeah. That guy's car. He entire city for a summer is obsessed with the possibility of this guy is going that couldn't happen anymore that that's an impossibility. I dunno. It's interesting. It would it would seem as though things like that would be one upside the things like social media and the ability of everyone, you have a phone in all these things it would be less likely that end these weird DNA companies where people give their DNA to see if they're related to three and mayor..

So there's some stuff we're looking at this morning, and let's bring in motion. Who is the director of public affairs at triple a bet. Good morning. Thank you for taking time this morning. How are you? Good morning. Thank you for having me. I'm good. Thank you. How are you? I'm excellent. It looks like we're going to have a very busy holiday season. Triple A is forecasting that more than one third of Americans are going to travel, and we're going to see an uptick planes cars automobiles the whole thing. It's like the movie here. Everybody's going somewhere for the holidays. Yes. Seems to be going somewhere. You mentioned one third of Americans are travelling, and that's a record record that we have seen. So as you mentioned airports will be very busy roads will be very busy as well. And what are you guys? Consider the actual holiday season of people are trying to perhaps prepare maybe leave a little earlier leave a little later do something to avoid the travel. So we look at Saturday December twenty second through Tuesday January I is the the travel season. And what we're finding particularly for those people who are flying is that most people are leaving a couple days before Christmas and then coming home a couple of days after Christmas. I'm so that really seems to be the peak travel periods with everybody travelling here. But does that mean that on average hotel prices are up? I know that gas prices are down we can get to that in a second. But as far as if people are not staying with their family and friends how what what are the rates that people will be saying? So yes, the for both rental cars, and and for hotels are up just a little bit for rental cars. The average rate is about seventy six dollars a day. And then for hotels for what we call to diamond hotels. It's about one percent more than last year. And that's about one hundred and twenty two dollars per night. Interesting. So what are the factors that's contributing to this travel about this? Is it mainly the gas prices? Or is it also I guess the economy is is rolling along people have a little bit more money. Yes. Absolutely. Both of those things gas prices are down here at Chicago land in about three dollars and thirty nine cents or so, and that's that's down almost thirty cents from where we were this time last year. But also the economy is very very strong. Consumer spending is up the housing market escape. Oh, people feel very stable and their jobs until they're they're more disposable income. And they're out there spending that money on travel does. Specifically compared to other states as far as the uptick in the travel this this what's called the holiday period. Here. Are we are are people that we live next to hear about the we traveling more on average across the US. Traveling more than let's say, our neighbors in Indiana. But that might just be because we have more people here. But in general, they increases in Illinois number of Illinois travelers, and what we're seeing in Illinois is about five point eight million people are traveling with the increases are right in line with the number of people who are traveling both nationally and in in specific states, like Michigan, Wisconsin or even in Vienna. All right. Let's tight here team. Let's bring Beth back after a quick time. Timeout am curious where people are going for their warm weather destinations and apparently more people taking cruises as well. So wanna ask about why that is occurring? It's interesting that industry is having an uptick as well as deers antigens off this morning. My name is Mark Harmon. We are sitting in on the opening bell. Get you updated on the markets coming on back here as well. This is seven twenty W G. And that's I get a check of traffic

He's hosted regular shows before I didn't know he had a lot of business acumen. Yeah. I am interested in this pairing between show and talent. Yes, I am. Sure. It could pull it off. Yeah. I mean, it's it's an hour. He'll talk about black Friday. It'll probably talk about some trends for black Friday, which is, but yeah, it'll be interesting to hear. I bet there's going to be a lot of overlap between sport, you know, contact that there isn't sports and the contact in the isles of those stores. Yes. Black Friday shoppers. Be that the the sport of shopping all. Yeah. So we'll see we'll see what we don't know is right now carbon is at home checking out the overseas markets, and he's got he's got like what are those green visors on? And he's doing all sorts of calculations all ready to go. He's already made six trades today. I'm sure. Carbon McRae's day trader whose yes, I don't somebody text again in my aunt from Sunday from three to seven this week. That is an interesting question. At this point. I don't know the the the easy answer would be sure we've played it. And I've booked guests. We've got another addition of at the breweries. We have a live music performance by the mud flaps. A lot is scheduled to take place. However as you heard done report, and you heard earlier in the day northwestern is playing in a basketball tournament on the west coast which which tournament is a Dan is it the wood tournament. Is that what I heard the wooden legacy class a wooden legacy? Classic named John. Yes. All right. I was like, wait a minute. Would what is the would legged John would the John? I guess if people basketball, you don't have to say John wooden. All right. So they're there. So there's a now they play tomorrow. The Wildcats play. I started later today at three fifteen or so. Yeah. Tip pre game three fifteen tip off three thirty. Okay. So the tip offs at three thirty. And that's because they lost yesterday. Yes. So we don't know depending on what the white. Wildcats do later today. There are four scenarios for their game on Sunday. I don't know what those scenarios are. They could play anytime from noon until nine PM so far. That's that's the word that we got. So every show every Sunday show is on standby. There's a good chance we'll be on all or part of the show or there's a chance that. Whatever happens at the wooden classic. We won't be so standby hang on. Thank you for asking a texture. But I don't I don't know what is right now. But as I said, we've got things planned. Cody, and I are ready. We're always ready to do a show. All right. So it's black Friday. I don't know if if you're out and about I want to hear from you three one two nine eight one seven two hundred because I am fascinated by what draws people out of their cozy homes in the wee hours of the morning to go and try to get doorbuster on a toaster. I need. I'd love to hear what what you're trying to get. Because again, I don't judge because as I mentioned earlier, my wife and daughter are about an hour and fifty minutes away from leaving the house to be at some some store that opens at six the so people have people around. I wondering though if. Don, you had a story in the news where somebody said, you know, ten years ago, you have to get up and you're battling and data. No because the stores open and offer their black Friday deals so much earlier. There's a in the last decade online shopping has escalated exponentially. I'm wondering if the scene is crazy. It can't be as crazy as it used to be. Well, that's that's that's interesting. I do actually on this traffic screen here. The I guess the the company that provides it they do on black Friday. They do have parking lots. Full and right now at Woodfield mall as of about twenty minutes ago, the parking lot is eighty percent full really mall. All right. If you're at Woodfield, what are you doing? What are you trying to get please three one two nine eight one seven two hundred the phone or the texts if you're driving award for eighty percent, do you think it's car dealers just renting out this parking lot? Just a park their play. Well, yeah. Depart their their inventory. Ably. Not. Yeah. There is I was Andrea mentioned the other night. Andrea darlas. She said that familiar the was she said black Friday, specifically is best for things like, laptops. Clothing and game consoles. Those are the best deals you can get for and then cyber Monday as more for like other electronics, and I think food and stuff. Well, funny, you should mention that. Because I have here a list of things that you should avoid on black Friday purchases, you should not make because they're not the deals that you would think they are. For example. They say televisions are not a good buy on black Friday why because they are either lower quality items their last year's models. They're not quite the same. According to offers dot com. They looked at Amazon reviews for for televisions. And they said the best time to look for a quality TV is right after Christmas through February where that is Super Bowl. Everybody wants their big new TV's for the Super Bowl. So if you're I mean, they according to this. If you're looking for. You know, a TV for your dorm room or something like that? It's okay. But if you're looking for a higher quality set. Black Friday may not be the time to do it. Because you know, maybe you're going with one of the name brands, but it's a lower end model that they've marked way down to go. Oh my gosh. I'm getting a sixty four inch TV for thirty eight dollars. That's fantastic. Right. Nephew watched two episodes on Netflix. ABC's done. It's a plasma. Yup. Do they even have plasma TV's? I'm sure somebody does. Oh, well, I have I have an L C D TV, which I know they don't do that. They don't do anymore. That's right. No. It's the DRP. Sorry. Okay. The digital light. So it's bouncing off mirrors giant bold bouncing off mirrors. But I got that. When was the last when were they Daniel? No this one when we're the bears last in the Super Bowl two thousand five five. Yeah. That's when I bought yo six Super Bowl was that. Yeah. Yeah. Osa deal five season. The oh six six Super Bowl. So I've got my my I got my TV in oh six right before the Super Bowl too. Because we wanted a big net. Was you know? So it's a it's still holding out. I've had to replace the battery to or the that the BULLDOGS twice sorry. Oh, six season the the Super Bowl bows. No, seven boy. You would again cake right off all the sports broadcasts. Everybody right now, everybody's here's all the sports department. The whole the everybody's ears. Perked up would just say. Oh my God. Right. There were formulating hot takes against you. And you know, how that goes the hot takes in the sports department. Let me extinguish those hot. Acting myself throw a blanket over those hot takes roll around on the ground. Don't take those heartaches and Richard Pryor. I'm up and down the hall. You got a squash that right now, I tried to block out everything from that game. But the Devin Hester returning the opening kick. Sure the first player like Woohoo here, we go. Oh, this is gonna be a long three hours. But anyway, so don't by you're nobody your TV's, wait, wait till after Christmas. You're going to be all man. Oh, we we once again have driven people to eat at odd hours and listening to the food talking got so hungry. I'm going to the kitchen and make a Turkey sandwich. Thanks. You're welcome six three zero. Gotta do it. They say the doorbusters. That's what people get sucked into doorbusters at again. Avoid that deal. They are often lower quality Adams again that sound too. Good to be true because they are. Don't be fooled by companies offering these kinds of deals do your research and see if those products are really worth the money. So 'cause that's that's what's plastered everywhere. The doorbuster doorbuster, do you? We're gonna bust the door and people are people really busting the doors anymore again. I don't think tomorrow. Now, you know later today, we will see on the television news somewhere in America right now. There is a riot happening at a WalMart with a lot of misshapen people trying to get into by an instant pot for six dollars. And they are they're battling each other. But this year the stores are making it easier, or we'll talk about more of these things to avoid and what's different at the mall this year on black Friday. We'll talk about all of that. And so much more. And we'll make sure that Dan's the the hot takes against and are extinguished fully on WGN Saturday..

4 of Top 5 Highest-Paid TV Actors Hail From One Show
"The highest paid TV actors seem to know each other. Well, as we hear from USA radio's Chris Barnes, the male stars of the sitcom big bang theory. Taking over the Forbes two thousand eighteen list of highest paid TV actors. In fact, they are first second third and fourth respectively there, Richie rich rich. So how much is that Jim Parsons coming in? I taking twenty six and a half million dollars followed by Johnny galaxy was twenty five million. And then right behind their co stars. They are and Simon Helberg tied for third at twenty three and a half million a year. The rest of the list includes Andrew Lincoln from the Walking Dead. Mark Harmon of NCIS and modern family stars Tiber L, Jesse Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Ed O'Neill

"Night. Karm Mark Harmon, and Harry Taino. It's started out the show with a very distraught. Mark Harmon wondering why you and I did not talk about the the global climate reports basically said the world is going to end in twenty thirty not that the world's going to end. But they're gonna be drastic changes to our atmosphere to our planet. Yes. And we've seen a lot of global changes a lot of very quick changes past decade. And there are people who are like, you know, what let's we're here for the ride. Let's just say use all the resources and let the chips fall where they might. And one of the reasons that we didn't react yesterday is because neither did the White House. Why should I react before the White House? From ABC news. We're waiting for. Yes. I mean, why should I say anything before the president? Does. I don't see. Yeah. Government in general. Those Willett about this report Connor that says about sending yes. So the world is ending what it says in very stark detail in detail that really was shocking to many people is that if we did the United sorry to global community really as until twenty thirty to take rapid quote directly from the report, rapid far-reaching, an unprecedented changes to government policies to the way we consume food and energy and everything. And if we don't then there will be irreversible damage to the climate things, you know, like the death of coral reefs temperature increases that will lead to possibly greater storms that are more powerful really add more damaging environment, and as you said the United States under this administration actually pulled out of the Paris climate accord after they have rescinded a lot of the environmental policies of the Obama administration was pretty much mum on the. The entire topic. There was a State Department spokesperson who sent me some talking points about how they reacted to report. But there was no press release. There was no public statement. And it took over twenty hours for the president United States Dwayne himself. Well, and it also says heavy taxes or prices on carbon dioxide emissions. Get this twice as high as twenty seven thousand dollars per tonne by within the next thirty years would be required. But a move like that would also be politically impossible in the United States. Would it not Connor? Yeah. You know, it's interesting. I it's hard to tell where the country comes down on this anymore. The president obviously pulled out of the Paris climate accord and was cheered by many of his supporters. But it was very funny in in that what was Gordon ceremony when he announced that decision. He's physically mentioned that he represents the people of Pittsburg not Paris. The mayor of Pittsburgh went out of his way to say, actually, we support Paris climate accord. Climate accord, this is important for our children for the future. And there's been this groundswell of the sort of grassroots movement of states and cities and businesses that have come together to say, no, this is not what the United States believes. And they've tried to take steps themselves to cataract the effects of global warming climate change and to drive down the amount of emissions and things like carbon dioxide that. There are. In addition to that, there are states like California that is sued the federal government over those changes in environmental policy to try to halt them. And you know, at least stop them until maybe we get a new administration in twenty twenty or twenty twenty four and as long as Connor tweeted out that Trump President Trump finally weighed in saying it was given to me. And I want to look at who truly, you know, which group do it. I can give you reports that are fabulous. And I can give you reports that aren't so good. But I will be looking at it. Absolutely now. Apparently, he's not from is. He not familiar with the organization that issued the report or is he say, which is the IP IPCC the internet intergovernmental panel on climate change is he's saying he's not familiar with them. Or what their motivations are or both? I guess I think it's a little bit of both to be honest, having Trump speak for a few years now in covering the State Department and politics before that I think it is to me is what if the classic non answer answer. And the president when he when he doesn't necessarily know the details or even at all what you're talking about. He's sort of dancing around it in a way that satisfies reporter's question without actually answering it at all it's interesting to you. You mentioned the IPC which is a government inter- national government body under the nation's made up of scientists from around the world, including the United States, the US had a delegation. This summit where the report was drafted and finalized, the company ministration whoever has tried to cut funding for the IPC. The proposed cutting all funding in their first and second budget in the beginning of the administration, congress has basically stopped to all of their budgets, especially on on foreign affairs. The they've obviously they're the ones who control the purse strings at the end of the day, and they went out of their way to make sure that there was still some funding, but it has been tied by. About seven or depending on how you look at the different budget between four point five and seven million dollars the C in a larger UN body called the framework convention on climate change. We're gonna continue this conversation about the report. I'm hoping to have some people on because there are things that they're recommending even individual level right people cut back on buying meat and dairy and things like that. Right. Yeah. And I think it was the Duke University. Scientists who said there's no way to mitigate climate change. Without getting rid of coal net is a such a bold statement. Connor and this administration has already eased restrictions on coal burning plants. Yeah. That's right. It's been a huge part of their energy policy really focusing on domestic energy production to win the US. Awesome. Foreign suppliers whether it's oil or or other forms of energy, digs coal. There's one of his campaign slogan. I remember being at the RNC the Republican national convention in July twenty sixteen with hundreds of those all over the floor of the convention hall. And he's taking a lot of steps to roll back. The Obama era regulations on coal consumption on the the the manufacturing of a new coal plants things like that. And he's also taking steps to really repeal the wider clean power plan that the Obama administration created after the Paris climate accord to to make sure that the US met those goals. Well, we will continue to follow all of that. Man. Connor. It was great meeting you and we look forward to having you back if you'll indulge us. Yes. Definitely this is excellent. Thank you so much again, follow counter Finnegan on Twitter. That's at C C J F thirty nine is that right? That's right. Of course at C J at thirty nine got a great feat. So thank you so much. We'll talk to you again. Thanks. Thank you. Again. That's Connor Finnegan. From ABC news verified on thanksgiving. I know and he did refer he did refer to Ivanka. She did tweet out that she's not going to and to your point. You're absolutely right. It wouldn't be kind of like nepotism or perceived as nepotism, it would be it would be nepotism. There's actually Mariotti our legal experts said that he would be guilty of certain code hold on a second. I I can pull it up hold up during the break, but we're not a Marietta actually draws your attention on his Twitter feed to the actual code. "Trend and grants. At least fantasy. Can't you know we can go for free anytime anyway. I thought that was they didn't. You use to stuff to Mark Harmon all the time the the the great actor. Do you guys don't do that anymore? You know, an analogy is Mr. NCI and all of that. He's just he's kinda hard to get to, you know, his that security around what one of my favorite things have always when the last week David Letterman show you guys can go back and look at it. More Carmen was one of the guests, of course that last week and instead of talking about NCIS talked about all the main things that I've done to him. But you know, he, he, he got the, you know, he's finally got more than even remember when they put that billboard up on me at Wrigley right before the all star game. They not only put my my, my my, my phone number on it. That's it. That's all we had. Yeah, for ticket information. But then they put my senior high school picture up on that. And I, I don't know. You know, I live there now, but I. Back then. But the funniest part was a arm on Letterman. He told David, he said, yeah, here's what happened. You know, we very Axelrod an IRA agent. We it cost seventeen thousand dollars and we call it fifteen people to see if they wanted to get even with Sutcliffe it a cost, you a thousand dollars and the teams and they were in arm said, we could've made one hundred thousand dollars. But didn't you dump like like rocks in his front yard or something? Did didn't you do something with the dump truck with Mark Harmon? He was, he was rearranged, and he was re doing his house which you know he loves to do a lot of that stuff. And he went into this big stories been where they had all the utilities and stoves and things to show Jennifer. X-ray. Berry's wife still is mom and lefty. Anyway, Jennifer came out. I lock Mark into that story. It had the chain lots and anyways, run away to the ballpark. I was. I was playing for the cubs that day, very says, well, we're, I wonder where marks that he didn't answer his phone. Well, I know where that he's locked this door. You left him in there? Yeah. They actually came. To get him out. But yeah, that was it. You know, and in the favorite thing was departy when he brought all of his liberty friends to tears ONA you know, he's the sexiest man alive on people magazine, you know, when they get out, I've got rhino and Jodi zonked there, we're going to have a game. We're gonna play a game against the Hollywood stars, and I give them t shirts and hats and wristbands and is Dan is running out to center field. I was gonna hit him some fly balls to get loose Mark, look to our agent Axelrod and said, this is awesome. He goes what a great guy Rick is. And then right as I got him all the center field, I had ground crew. He's an August. Sure on full blast is you know it's like a BB gun. They're all laying on the ground and they had to crawl off and you know it was recycled, sewer, water. And of course I took all their luggage and did it. And so you know, wearing those cups ishers to rest of the night. So yeah, that's why the billboard went up..
