Energy Secretary Wants to Ban Stoves Based on 'Oval Burners'
"The gas stoves that would be impacted are high impact high assuming high end gas stoves for the more expensive gas stoves And the reason why they were found to be inadequate is because in many cases they're very heavy greats and the burners can be an oval shape which causes an excess amount of natural gas to be emitted relative to the pot that's on there So it's just it's a wasteful use of natural gas That is Jennifer Granholm who runs the energy department And so they're not looking to ban all gas though just thieves expensive ones that rich people have you see maybe restaurants because you see the the burners are over And any physicist knows you've oval burners there's an excess amount of heat that's necessary to cook that which is put upon the oval burner And it just wastes natural gas I like the secretary who really wastes a lot of natural gas when she speaks but nonetheless and the greats are very heavy The grates The hell's a great I don't know Does she mean the grill tops Anyway the greats are very very heavy Now we can't have that Over here in the energy department We don't want heavy grades so we don't want oval burners So we we are going to regulate the amount of existence We don't need Congress We don't need executive orders Why do you think we have so many people here who are paid so much money It gets such great pensions and medical coverage Because we're here to help We can't expect these stupid parents to buy the right gas stoves

Manhattan DA rejects GOP demand for info on Trump case
"The district attorney for Manhattan, New York has made clear. He will not be sharing documents surrounding the hush money investigation into Donald Trump with members of Congress. House Republicans had sought documents and testimony about the case. Calling the grand jury investigation into Donald Trump, quote, an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority. In a letter obtained by The Associated Press, the general counsel for Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg slammed the congressional request as an unlawful incursion into New York's sovereignty, adding that Donald Trump's lawyers reportedly urged three House committee chairman to intervene after Trump created a false expectation. He was going to be arrested this week and says that is not a legitimate basis for a congressional inquiry. The 5 page response from Bragg's office marks a public acknowledgment, a grand jury is currently investigating Trump, although there appears to be a pause this week in his case. I'm Jackie Quinn

Ian Prior: States Should Manage What Happens in the Classroom
"Our state legislature is doing enough and governors Republican governors doing enough to control what's going on in the classroom as a rule There's some we know who are great Yeah I mean I think some are I think I think others aren't And certainly it falls upon the state not the federal government to really manage what is going on in the states because look if you put the federal government in charge of this that might go great when you have a presidential administration that is favorable towards parental rights But what happens when you get to buy the administration It's not going to go well So we're really falls upon the state to enforce their constitutions to enforce their laws in the past new laws I mean for example there are states out there that have statutory parental rights protections But there's no enforcement mechanisms And that's one of the problems we see from state to state and certainly even in the federal statute the protection of pupil rights amendment There's no enforcement mechanism for parents to take these school districts to court So I mean we need all kinds of things We need transparency of lessons plans curriculum teacher trainings books in the library books in the classroom library but we need more than that We need an enforcement mechanism so that we can bring schools to court and hold them accountable for these things And then you might actually see some changes in what they're doing

Ian Prior: The Intention of 'Parents of the World Unite' Book
"You have a background in media And this is a fantastic book because you're not only discussing the problems Chapter after chapter you're telling people you need to do this You need to do that You need to investigate You need to activate You need to understand that there's a media out there You need to prepare for that And this is how you fight the school board and on and on and on So this is not just a book about what's taking place This is a book that's about action orientation correct Yeah that's right And each chapter there are 12 chapters and we structure it so that each chapter is a bit of a strategic philosophical rule that we applied in the situation but is certainly applicable to every school district in the country no matter what you're doing I mean I like to think of this as sun tzu's art of war for parents which of course will get me flagged by Merrick Garland but so be it That's probably already the case The idea Yeah the idea being that you know parents can utilize this not just to look at these strategies or these practical ideas on how to get the message out to the media how to work with reporters how to send freedom of information act requests how to set up an organization legally to make sure you're getting your donations processed properly but also to get them thinking about their own strategies and tactics and to really crowdsource that among the parents of this country because that's what it's going to take It's going to take you know successes and failures and learning from those successes and failures and sharing them with others so that they can replicate what's been done

"And you're not going to have hair. And I said, how long do you think it'll take for Bill self to get a second national title or do you think you will? You absolutely would have said, oh, he's going to be kill self is going to get to a second championship. And you probably said, I don't know what will happen, but you know, probably be in the next, you know, 5 to ten years, maybe. Who knows? It could be next year. It took longer than expected, but the result here is just not all that surprising. He feels like a coach that should have multiple national championships the same way Jay Wright is. And he finally reached that accomplishment here tonight. And you can now officially call him, many Kansas fans consider this already, but he's the greatest coach in the history of Kansas basketball. And so because of that, he becomes one of the greatest coaches in the history of college basketball period. No, Bill getting a second title, especially with this team, is evidence of something I have said for a long time. Now, I've largely said it about guys like John calipari or even Mark few. If you keep building teams, if you keep creating teams that are good enough to win a national championship. 'cause there's always 5 or 16 every year that are quote good enough to win a national championship. Or at least it appears that way. Maybe last year only Gonzaga and Baylor were good enough to win a national title. Maybe that's true. But in most years, it feels like there's 5 or 6 teams to win a national title. Good enough to do it. If you keep building teams that are good enough to do it, eventually you will do it. It'll just happen for you. And if you go all the way back to, I don't know, 2007. I'm just going to run through you that seeds of these Kansas jayhawk teams. 2007, one C 2008 one C 2009 three C 2010 one seat that a one seat in 11, a two seat in 12, a one seat in 13, a two seat in 14, a two seated 15, a one seat in 16, a one seat and 17 a one seat in 18 of four seat in 19 would have been a one state in 20 DOM pandemic, a three seat in 21 and a one seat in 22. When you are a top two C, that many times, you are basically giving yourself an opportunity to win the national championship every single year. And so I thought Bill was, I don't know, I had liked that he acknowledged this. I believe it was on Sunday. He said, for as many great teams as we've had, we should have more national titles than we have. And not many coaches would say that. They talk about, you know, you never know, and the tournament, madness, and single elimination and it's hard to do and it's hard to get just one and he was like, no, we should have more than one. We should have more than one by now. With all the great teams we've had. And now he's got two. And you ready for this? He'll get three. He'll get three. And I don't know that it'll take him. 20 more years. I don't know if he'll get three. Why would he not get three? First off, all the great coaches coach into their 70s if they want to. All right, he's only 59 years old. Bill self is not he's not coaching into a 70s. That's not happening. You don't get it. You don't know that. Do you know what they'll pay him to keep coaching? You know, listen, I don't doubt that he's told you that or told other people that. I can't tell you how many coaches say. If I'm ever in, if I'm ever in this, if you see me in this gym at page, if you see me coaching on the sideline, you pull me off that court right now. How many coaches have said that to you? You talking to a 48 year old girl, 48 year old coach, and they say, if you see, if you walk in this gym one day and I'm sitting here at 62 years old, watching 17 year olds, put a gun to my head and pull the trigger. Like, I can't tell you how many coaches have seen that. And then I watch a 65 year old the same dude. They tell me that back when I have hair. Now I don't have hair. Now those guys are 63, had hip replacement surgery, and they still at peach jam, evaluated prostate. I never heard a coach say I'm gonna coach till I'm 70. Never. They never say they're gonna do it. They all think they're gonna get out. But then they can't get out. Very few can get out. And like with the money he's making now, they'll pay, they'll pay him. Hey, ow, hey, guys, you know, I was 59 when I won my last title. Now I'm 64, kind of ready to move on with my live. Well, what if we gave you a new 5 year $40 million contract? Will you keep coaching? I bet you he's still coaching in ten years. I bet you he's still coaching in ten years and I bet you he's got a third national title by then 'cause he's gonna keep building teams every year that a good enough to do it. All right, we'll see. We'll see you on that. You'll see on that. You might, you might get the direction I'm taking my column here. But. Don't spoil, don't spoil for this. Don't spoil for the audience that's watching live here. I want to actually formulate the thoughts before I actually make sure that's what I'm writing. But yes. Yes. Yeah, I would say. Yeah, all I saw was the tease and I was like, I don't know about that one, dead leg. I got confidence in you. You're brilliant rider. Maybe you can pull it off. But just seeing the tease, I was like, I don't know about that. I don't know about it. Can we talk real quick? I saw this might have been a little bit of a thing. Maybe you can speak more to it because you were watching the game on TV. It seems like Carolina fans are making a little bit out of bat hurting his ankle, the way that he did. So I don't know if it was the actual playing surface or not. I do know I winced when I watched the replay of him twisting that and being done for good there. But what can you speak to with what happened there? Okay, admittedly, I did not notice anything with the floor in real time. You know, they showed the replay multiple times on the broadcast. "Of course comes with highs and lows, right? Everyone now all of a sudden he's like, oh, who's this kid? Like 9 months ago, nobody knew who I was 'cause I thought I was just like this. Tall, skinny, white kid who couldn't really hoop is just there because it's all. But now people know who I am. People know what I can do. I try not to pay too much attention to it. Just kind of focus on myself and just kind of stay. You mentioned a minute ago that everything his parents did with his development was deliberate. How did they handle this overnight fame that came his way after that viral video and as he became considered one of, if not the top prospect in the country? Yeah, his parents are very level headed. Even to this day, like his mother, he does his laundry. He's expected to clean up after himself. His mother is a very active. She's very active in social justice. She's worked for not for profits her whole life. He grew up at a dinner table. We're having conversations about things that are going on in the real world. We're very common. It wasn't like we're going to just sit here and talk about sports. We're going to talk about things that are happening in the world, including, you know, Black Lives Matter. As a young kid in high school, he was at a protest. And when you're 7 foot one, you can't hide like people find you. So he knew he was going to be seen, and he was fine with that, which is wonderful. And we should all feel great about that. But look, there's a lot of kids who would be like, I want to be there, but I'm afraid to be there because of the backlash or the inevitable questions. But thanks to his parents, he was really raised to believe that basketball is what you're good at, and it's a great thing, but it's not going to define who you are. And in the conversation or conversations that you've had with Chet himself, what other impressions did you have of him overall? His personality and especially how he's been handling all the scrutiny that has come his way. Yeah, I mean, it was funny when I went out there. I had a hard time. I'll be honest pinning him down for an interview. He was just reticent to do interviews at the time. He had just gotten to Gonzaga really and I was probably the first national reporter that was there. And he was wary. I think understandably, he's come of age as a great player as a really unique player at the exact same time that NIL is coming out and players are getting paid and we're having more kind of expectations because of that place on him. And I think he was very aware that he's going to get a lot of attention and didn't necessarily love it. I don't know, there's no formula. You know, I don't pay too much attention to people I don't know. Okay. But once he kind of got to talking to you, he was really anxious to talk more about you. Can you come into this right yourself? Our whole team is a bunch of really cool guys. I don't think there's anyone on the team that has a problem with anyone really. Yeah. Yeah, we're all super cool with each other. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. It's easy. Yeah, I just think he's like a normal kid. That's really what I took away. I think sometimes we forget that just because you're an extraordinary basketball player at 19 doesn't make you this eloquent orator. Gonzaga head coach Mark few is definitely not a one and done kind of coach, at least in general. You know, he likes to bring in and develop players who are going to stick around for a while. So why do you think he went after Chet homegrown the way he did? Considering he's almost certainly out of there after one season. Yeah, I mean, I think he will tell you having grown up in Philadelphia and covered Jay Wright for a lot. I consider Mark few and Jay Wright's approach very similar to how they recruit players. They want players who are whether you're here for one year or four years, you're very grounded in being present. You don't have one foot out the door. You're not worried about what's next. You're worried about what's in front of you. And so Gonzaga did their due diligence as much on Chet as Chet did on Gonzaga. It's really interesting. I think people are like, wow, he chose Gonzaga, but there was a reciprocity there. They chose him too. I mean, they would not have taken him if they didn't feel like he would fit the sort of team chemistry that they have worked so hard to build. I think they felt more secure having gone through it with Jalen suggs coming from the same high school program. Knowing the same sort of people and the dynamic of the high school program, they knew what Chet was coming from. So I think it wasn't even a risk. It was a definite calculated decision though. They know he's not going to stick around, but is he going to be present while he's here? And all indications are, he 3000% is. And you know how in your view has Chet holmgren done so far this season, especially relative to the expectations that you had for him coming in as he's shown the kind of toughness and strength that I think a lot of people assumed he didn't have. Yeah, I mean, look, it's funny, if you look at his numbers, I mean, people would say, well, he's averaging 14 points and 9.6 rebounds and two assists per game. Okay, those are great numbers. Don't miss it, but it's not like he's averaging 30 points a game. But he's playing within the system of a team that is incredibly talented and has a lot of options, but he is very dominant. If you actually watch Gonzaga play defensively, teams stop going inside because of his presence. They get blocked a few times, and they don't go in there anymore. You know what I mean? He gives them an inside presence that they didn't have last year. These averaging, you know, regular double doubles the last few games. He's blocking shots. And if you watch him play, you know, you'll see these spurts of a game where he'll go down and drain a three, run back, block a shot, come down, dunk.

Go i never saw him but gentleman reached out to me who is an assistant director on the film. I was like hey. We're we're in athens film jack ryan. We're staying. we're staying at your hotel. The what i did at the hotel tanya. I think it's gone and that's where everybody from. The jack was staying so that was cool. You know we like you'd be at breakfast and they'd be talking about the script at the table next to you. What type of deal so We went to athens incendiary back to athens. And then we're supposed to fly from athens to amsterdam. Make a connection to atlanta atlanta memphis. Be home late sunday night. We left athens. Light wasn't my fault maintenance issue before we even land trust me about wife tried to blame it on me you think. I'm responsible for the maintenance task. When we when i went to rome and we left after our honeymoon amazing trip but like we get to the airport and it was now. We're waiting like seven hours rome so that's just. Yeah that's just eventually. We got on the plane but it was a long long way different series. We'd have to wear masks back then. You're at the airport and but you you. You actually got a hotel room and did the night answered and then yeah it was about. Yeah so we were. We were supposed to depart amsterdam at five. "With tear-gas we can't have our hotel. Fill with tear-gas. We can't open the store as a brother. You gotta help me what. I can't leave okay. I understand what you're saying. But i can't leave them out there. Do you understand what i'm saying. And he said text them call them. Tell them to meet you at the back door. I said where's the backdoor. He's an opposite of the front door. Tell me the breakout store. I said i got you. And he said and i caught her. I said walked to the back door. She's like where's the back door opposite us. Guys live as the front door like. Just get a visual the front door and the opposite direction. Other side the bills. And we'll meet you there and my guy nice man in the world he. He's he walked me through a bunch of places. Normal people aren't supposed to be and we arrived at the back door. And i opened the door and boom immediately. I was like painful on the other side of the bill to tear. Gas was so heavy. Even there that i couldn't see my eyes. Were burning blurry tears the whole deal. They arrived very quickly. Pulled him inside. We go back upstairs and the staff at the restaurant was passing around lemons because they said it helps with tear-gas they're so familiar with tear gas. That they know that you need to put lemon on your is okay so at at this point when your daughter is getting into the building. You're aware of the fact that there's a protest against vaccine mandates happening right. I'm aware that there's a protest. I don't know what it is went so when you open the back door you don't know i still don't know that you did know and you open the door and then your eyes began to melt and you thought no. This really is the dumbest band. Lifetime like what is happening right now. How i found out is. I went back to the table and they closed all the windows on the balcony. You know so are fresh. Air dinner is now. Not that at all. And i i honestly i get on twitter and type in athens protests and i just start seeing what pops up and it's clearly they're protesting that mandatory vaccines for healthcare.

"Football just has not been consistently historically good enough and seven straight bowl games okay. There's including a new year's six bowl. There's like forty three caves so the bowl game stat conference champions okay. Well that's that's something And then i don't know how much let me let me because i'm just being like here's the here's the truth. Memphis historically is a terrible football program. Well you said it was terrible. Okay yes once. They committed financially to the program started throwing money at it built an indoor facility and making good hires i justin point day than mike norville now ryan. Silver field to previous coaches are now the head coach at virginia tech and florida state wants memphis got a president and an athletic director who understood the value of football of competent quality football and they invested in it. Memphis has been one of the better football programs in america. Alabama ohio state. I'm not being silly. Here but memphis has been one of the better programs in the acc played for multiple championships like in the title game and won it once and and they have drawn at a group of five level as well better than most in as well as just about anybody. So i get it like houston is also a good football program in the president or it has been in recent years cincinnati in the present. Ucf incredible campus in florida big enrollment humongous enrollment. Yes i get it. I wouldn't necessarily say. It is crazy for the big twelve to pick these for schools over memphis but i it memphis checks and a lot of boxes including fedex corporate sponsorship. I i can just tell you the people in memphis. We're working hard to try to get involved in this. It obviously did not work. I'm not saying it's a mistake for the big twelve to not take memphis but it is devastating for memphis to not be taken by the big twelve. There is no getting around. I was hey this devastating. But let's i'll ask you this question. I will also answer it though if you throw memphis in which forty you kick out. But that's the problem. I don't think it's obvious i don't. I don't think it's obvious. That's why i'm not sitting here. And saying they made a mistake. A lot of people have said they made a mistake. Mike de coursey. Our friend from the sporting news has said that you know the big twelve is making mistake. Not taking memphis. I respect that opinion. i understand it but when you say okay but you gotta pull one of these out to put memphis in. It's not obvious to me which one would pull out. That's just me being honest with. Yeah if i had to pick. I probably picked cincinnati. If you made me pick one that would probably be even. That's not easy. I mean cincinnati. Again we're talking about a top ten to twelve all time. Men's basketball program in the history of the sport the football program's doing very well very nicely located Historically not a great football program but you mentioned memphis is terrible. I read off. Were those football programs. According to the ap were all-time memphis was not in the top. One hundred percents. Ucf barely cracked up one hundred since he was eighty two. I don't know how much media markets really matter. But i do know they matter. I mean daily when decisions i this made. There's a lot of things that get taken into consideration enrollment. Ucf will now have the largest enrollment any big twelve school with the exodus of oklahoma and texas. We're talking like fifty thousand plus they're enrolled at ucf. So that's that's major your ability to have an obviously memphis has this but Significant donors boosters. I'm talking billionaires connected to your program that can that can help from an infrastructure standpoint. That means a lot your history. How well you can draw eyeballs. Obviously here the media market rankings according to nielsen among the cities where the programs are based houston. Houston's the no brainer number eight orlando were. Ucf is number eighteen byu which has a significant media market number thirty in salt lake city. Also the mormon population. I've been told that that's not an insignificant thing. More than five percent of the of the nation's population identifies as mormon and that also Went a long way also. byu tv which. I understand a lot of people may not be familiar with apparently is gets like for what it it gets really really good viewership and so that was also taken into consideration media market. Cincinnati is thirty seven. And then there's a little bit of a drop-off memphis comes in nationally at number fifty one and then the other school that i think would have deserved a really good look and did get a good look but didn't get it ultimately really good program boise number one. Oh two in media market would have been geographically the furthest away. It didn't quite make the cut. Their what memphis needed. I think yes for the big twelve to not want. Byu for whatever reason you might not want byu uh-huh or for byu to not want to join the this league in football for whatever reason byu wouldn't want to join this league in football memphis needed byu and the big twelve to be unable to reach an agreement. And then i think they might have observed emphasized the word might of might have been odor better shot but once. Byu's in and you and your byu to your point is a national brand like it is it it is. It's a big brand so once. Byu's in you take in three more. You can reasonably argue.

"A mari bailey. Who is committed to ucla. His mama's dick boy. Sharp number two right behind him really. Good not a surprise air. It's been long. Projected expected that shade would wind up going to play kentucky. He said a huge rise actually in the past year or so to get to this point. I mean a a year ago. He was not even close to being projected as a top ten overall prospect and slowly but surely quickly but surely i should say he moved on up there. I think he will be a wonderful wonderful college player year from now when we're starting to study prep up on our top one hundred one players in college basketball. It's gonna be very hard for me. Not to include shade sharp in the top ten of that list kentucky fans. You should be plenty excited about this. We'll see where we go from here. In terms of how does recruiting at the very top of it and getting shade and sharp. Some of it also is it. Depends you know the fact that you had a mani bates reclassifying. I get all that stuff. But when coach k. re announced that he'd be retiring after this forthcoming season. The column i wrote was that you know john. Calipari has got a great chance at here. Not just they've obviously continued to really well but we'll see if tiny can really become a true rival to this but kentucky has a real chance to once again be the program number one classes going forward. That's not where it's at right now with twenty two just because only to commit a lot of this comes down to the algorithm at two four seven uses and the math and all that kentucky's currently the eighth class in twenty twenty two but it's behind the likes of ohio state at one kansas duke carolina virginia has three four stars. And because of that right. Now it's the number five class muscles arkansas hogs at six. I you is at seven and then kentucky is at a rest assured kentucky is well on. Its way to having a absolutely a top five class and likely atop three classroom. We get to the end of that. So sharp wonderful player out of canada. I think he'll be a fantastic player. And a good bit of news here for kentucky this week and getting him as it sets up for the season without him in which they'll be a good team as well. If you trust the crystal balls it appears kentucky's gonna end up with the number one recruiting class in america. They've already got to commitments from five star. Prospect shaking chart number four thousand twenty two sky kark and that sky with two wise extra line of it. Why is it. There does even question it just embrace it and enjoy it because i sure as hell am i love it. Sky with two is sky. Clark number eleven. In the class of two thousand and twenty two and then the wildcats considered the leader for derek lively a center ranked number two in two thousand and twenty two chris livingston a wing ranked number five in two thousand twenty two. In case wallace a combo guard ranked number twelve and two thousand twenty two if it plays out like that and who knows if it will but if it plays like that kentucky will enroll five top fifteen prospects in the same class for the first time since. I'm not even going to do two thousand thirteen. That class was highlighted. Julius randle harrison. What a guy this would you go. Why because on. The kyle boone episode. He did a little trivia time on me and It was in this vein. But i didn't get it but he. He mentioned that very class. Because that class of two top five players but damn julius randle harrison twins. James young too carjon. All five of them were ranked top ten in the class of two thousand thirteen. Yeah and in retrospect good class. But i remember when. I was after that Pod b. i. Remember thinking like yeah. We made a huge huge deal out of that and rightfully so but ultimately you can sometimes see why recruiting rankings in the long term. You know not. Everyone's gonna pan out but if kentucky gets that class it will not be close. I love shade and sharp plenty really love derek lively and he says you mentioned he's projected to go there. He's now the number to recruit in the class of twenty two. We saw him play on jail endurance team with team. Final down north augusta and a fabulous player. He is highly anticipated to go and play for big blue nation. Next season and kentucky should be just continuing to roll once they get him and everyone else he listed there but sharp is the big one there and he'll be he'll be a one and done player. No doubt about it. The people at twenty seven sports are awesome. Like they're on top of this recruiting stuff. They know it better than you. And i do. I do have an issue with the way they handled team rankings by that point system because it doesn't always jibe with reality right now i'm looking at it and let me state the obvious who cares big picture. Not that big of a deal. But like virginia's got the fifth ranked recruiting class right. Now and kentucky's got the eighth ranked recruiting class right now. Virginia's class has three four star guys. So my fifty fifth sixty i in ninetieth. I put these two classes on the table. For you dead-leg you need to have three players. Fifty five sixty one in ninety or.

"How college basketball again is dead as we all know but also is it. Because tom izzo was still in the game and for now for now and he was asked on a radio show stoney johnson in detroit. This is the best part about these coaches. Right is most of the things that get aggregated people hate aggregate. That's like deter. Don't aggregate my quotes. Most nine times out of ten is when these coaches go and local radio shows and they get ast from the local diehards and they have to kinda give them something. It's always. It's always an environment where you feel like nobody's listening exactly and that's when they get you get you bet so when it ends up on two seven two two four seven sports in his all over the world and so first and foremost the time is oh i know that he said this probably jokingly you know i know he said this thinking again. No one's listening especially not coach k. But we were listening and he said he was asked about his retirement. He said when i do it. I'm just leaving and i think that's all you need to hear. What was he asked. This did was he. S specifically how are you going to retire or was it. He was asked about k. So coach k. Us ask you know. Basically the question started coach k.'s. Retiring you know what about you what you know when win is your time in. What he said was is interesting guys because you get asked those questions. I say hell k. Got eight nine years on me. So i got plenty of time. He said the day. I don't feel like flying to vegas orlando. That's when i know that like it's basically over for me. So is oakland has all these and then he says but when i do it i'm just leaving. You know which says basically. I am not going to get nike to give me a year long. Farewell tour everyone gives me flowers. And i sniff them i. Tom izzo is the type to make this decision. The middle of the season to maybe a halftime. Who's who's the guy that played for the bills that retired who was that guy Sort of people are gonna kill me for not remember. That was incredible. Who was that. I was like in my head. Is brandon tape but it wasn't brandon. Tate Volunteer davis davis when he retired his corners of all time. What are the greatest hard knocks characters of all time cole. Voltaire davis retired. Mid game was the right decision. Dude he was so on hard knocks in practice. That was when joe philbin was coaching the dolphins and basically bought they davis. It's like asking for a trade practice. That is tom izzo. What he says like. I'm just gonna leave. He doesn't season there. He tom izzo good at just like he's going to be down. Seventeen a halftime. It gets baru in west. Lafayette he's just going to get an uber the airport. I think i figured out what we all know what. The real number is number two. He's going for number two. He's going for the second national championship to say that you know the flintstones wasn't a fluke this premier program we the premier program in michigan in the big ten. We're going to win our second ship. I'm not sure that that's going to happen right before he leaves. But i figured out what he's actually going for this is. This is the real number so yes. Six hundred and forty. Three victories at michigan state. big ten victories. Yeah bob knight has six hundred fifty nine six six sixty. Big ten wins. That's probably two seasons. Maybe one great season gets passed. Bobby knight the winning coach in history two seasons and then boom. He leaves you. Think he's got season. Is this the scoop. Lewry put based on the numbers that i'm crunching right now. I think he's trying to get the most big ten wins. Because it's good for the big ten to right when you talk about our winningest coach. Probably better to have the night. Yes for from a pr standpoint. Probably now yeah at a time. Obviously i think when you take that record the big ten network everybody they give you the thumbs up on the way out. I'm so i'm sorta surprised. It's nice to be honest. Even though night is the best coach victim history of surprised. It's not it feels like katie. Would that would be. We'd be seeing that. I guess. I guess if that was the case we would see that graphic coach fellers chair gene katie add more. That was the case. We would see that graphic boy there ball today remember. Coach katy owns the big. I guess you're right. Yeah but it's got to be the national chain. That's that's really what he wants number two. Yeah he really wants to. do you think. Number two is actually going to happen. It's not no it's never happened for the big ten again. Thanks juwan howard is so stupid. He believes that he could win. The national title michigan and You can't you on because you're not good up to. I'm saying that's how it works for big too quickly to engine and to say that juwan howard is upper every job. Well that's what i'm saying is what howard will eventually take one of those jobs when he has the epiphany that you just simply cannot win national championships in the big ten happen. And it's not because your program can't be you can have these single best program country year in and year out. Gonzaga's joined the big ten. Honestly i think i think they'd fitted perfectly twelve update and we just have gonzaga. Do like the big ten updates should just be national title. Odds who's got the best the best odds and then we laugh at it and then we pick it apart. And we're like. There is zero percent chance michigan. State's wounded this year or indiana. Purdue purdue has expectations and that is dangerous spot to be in peru is going to be top ten probably to start the season so maybe top five depending on how i've seen been a top five top. Ten wants to turn the propaganda. I'm sure they could get people to vote on top five. Preseason but If i'm a purdue fan i do not want the propaganda. I not want any expectation. I this would terrify me. Uh-huh produce going to be one of the teams this year. That's going to have a. They're going to be a big ten update. We'll do it update we'll just be like it can't pretty win the national championship and the answer is probably not but it is true. Like carson edwards. I mean not to say purdue was going to go in the same path. Virginia but like they were on the verge of beating if they beat virginia proof. Forget what happened. Explained to them what happened. I'm just saying how fell apart for them and it was so close so close. They forget they so quick. Just blocked it out and now man no. I think that's what you want. Howard decides he's going to be a when he doesn't realize it yet but Some of the old weather guys figured out. I think is a is has figured out..

That like the arkansas fans are out of their minds for this for baseball. Absolutely being flags in the this looks like a european soccer athletics department is on fire. Right now everything. Is we call. This came on the show. I i pointed out all the billionaires the ties at the has very jones The walton family What were the other ones. There's some meat packing the dyson tyson. Tyson chicken okay. Those are three and then like one of the. They're more they're more all the arkansas fans. John daly billionaire personality. Close enough Anyway the the the game has changed. This changes everything college basketball as you know is dead folks and R.i.p marc emmers holding the knife. I think so mark holding. Who's already tonight. I think view is holding the knife. And he's also looking over to make sure it's okay. I mean he's like gave a thumbs up to all the other blueblood coaches they bill right self defense good job. Mark emerge looking at the couch. "States around this country have enacted some sort of that nineteen states nineteen states. Yes can can make but the state laws never gavin newsom. He signed funny california. You told gavin newsom backed in stay in your lane like shut the hell up bitch close tape like mark food love. The gavin. Newsom was doing this. he's a wildcard. Yes but i think like. In retrospect you're saying that because he was like this isn't a steetch rights issue like we don't need very like the more and this is exactly the problem and maybe this is mark few. He swerved marquette because More few assane is that it's a disastrous system to have a system where the schools in california can. The players can make money off their name. Yeah whereas the schools in say like tennessee can't but the schools in indiana and the schools in nebraska like. That's a disaster so what we need is So gavin newsom shut up. Go sit down do something else with your time. Yeah let's figure it out like a national. Nfl sweeping bill. Whether it's congress the ncaa and marc emmers said it's definitely not to be congress because it's not going to me. I'm not doing it. Yeah and he didn't even at times when he was getting poked about the fact that the nc double a. is making. He he wants to have you know. Basically he wants to put stopgaps on how much money you can make as athletes. That's one layer of this also kept reiterating that they won a national law. That was when he kept saying but the reason he's saying that is because all the state versions of this some of them are more sweeping than other ones. And yeah he wants a very succinct. This is what it is. This is how it looks like and also it's capped california's not so like connecticut. I don't think it is either so there's certain states where it's a little bit different. They said that they want to keep college athletes from being employees of their schools. That is one of the big things that he was trying to hammer home. And he wants to provide limited antitrust protection from future litigation. So these are the this. Don't forget title nine title night That's important you got to throw that in there because title nine has the first amendment of college sports debates where no-one no-one seems to have any idea what it actually is like. You know the bullet point which is like women and men must have equal opportunities. Yes but then the application of it. No one has any idea when you know that you can just like throw it out there and say look. It's a violation or like this. Not a and then it shuts everything down like someone could like tweet. Us and be your. Podcast violates title nine. And i would like freeze and be like i think she's right google it. I'll be like no. Yeah no we must protect title nine. And everyone's like i think we i think we would. I think we definitely would but martin. What are your intentions part. Whenever you know. Any sort of senator cory booker the one who's leading the national nfl bill. He's the one that's putting on the floor. So any of these other senators were coming at him. Coming up mark imbert asking questions about why they didn't do this or that as well. That's not my decision. Yeah that's the board of governors. And i love the idea of the incident. The incidentally has always this ominous presence that you know the omni present situation where you point to and you blame it you're like ncw with the ncaa's made up of people that are working for the. We've we've said this multiple times. But i love that with indian aa. They even have someone to blame. You know he's like. I got the board of governors. Everyone has someone else to blame party to blame. I'm i'm going to make a big time. Swerve here and say that mark is unbelievable it his job and the the fact that the public hates this man so much means that he's doing exactly. What was roger goodell. The reason the nfl owners love goodell. Because they're like people. Hey you great. Do dell's amazing at his job. He make forty million dollars a year getting it on. We'll do what we own over here. It is true those guys get those guys get killed all the time like two of the worst leader the institutions. They're running all the blame. Well not even that. They're just like to institutions that are like undeniable this country in the world of sports sports like those. Are you know how it works. So this was not We we should issue correction. Because i think at the top movie said that this was they were speaking to the senate. This you did not have the idea of everyone sitting around all of our one hundred senators looking at marquette interchange chamber. You're saying you're bad wrong. That's it there's like you know. Bright forty of them over there like mark comes up good japanese so what what is going to come of this. I guess would be a question. I certainly would have been in the Would have the same question one way or another. There's going to be name image. Likeness yes latian. Nineteen states. yes. But i mean one way or another nationally nationally as indicates pointed out. I think the last time he came on which. Andy come back on the show please please out. He's out there playing off. As as andy pointed out the schools that are in states that don't have name image likeness are going to lose their mind if this passes. Yes yes they're gonna they're gonna go nuts so some going to have to be petted recruiting advantage. I mean that's really. What the underlying part of all this is right so Everything the game will will change. Everything will be different. And i guess at this point market moore is just put in a situation where he's trying to just preserve as much of the old system as possible again. He's he's he's on a sinking ship. There's a bunch of holes in the ship and he's just he's only got so many fingers to plug the holes and he's going around trying to keep the ship off and the board of governors are just looking at him laughing as you ever in a row in a old timey cartoons plug that one and another one shoots ol- old buster keaton short. So we do. We need to suss out the intricacies of it. Because i think in the macro picture is that this is going to happen. This is the we. We are stepping into a new world of college sports. And whether it's better or not better. I don't know but it it has to be done. That's the thing it has to be done whether this like makes scotland whether we look up in five years and we're like man college basketball is more fun than it was or it's like wow this disaster because you have a team where Say like i. i don't know. Indiana comes to mind. Trace jackson davis can can he. He's making like six hundred thousand dollars from kinan law firm you know they're they're paying him to do commercials near in bloomington and then you got like trae galloway. Who like nobody wants to give any money to his driving his like his hand me down beat or into practice and try and snacks. No snacks trace jackson davis's rioted and all of a sudden you look up in college. Basketball is very bizarre. Were like locker rooms or splintering guys are rich as hell and other guys like going getting swipes. Yeah it's it's a disaster. Maybe that could happen. I don't know the point is this has to be done whether that is what we what it becomes or whether it's like we we look up in five or ten years like yeah in the end. That's kind of did matter. It's all it's the exact same sports. The exact same thing now geysers making a little money on the side. I don't know where we're going..

"20% off with free shipping at manscaped package with the code humble Hummel your balls they're going to thank you. So I was telling Rob before a couple of our Vegas stories and I have tons off. I mean every every time I go I feel like and I'm sure you do too. When you go to Vegas. Everybody's got Vegas stories two of my favorite are actually with you. And and one of them, I don't know if you remember. Do you remember the Mel Gibson story? Yeah. Yeah. I remember the something was going on over there and it was it was our guy in starting wage. It was you it was I think Dan Monson, maybe Billy Greer and Billy Walker Bill Walker. Yeah, my mom or in there probably rage a colletti. It probably was Ray. So Billy Walker is getting his ass kicked in Black Jack getting his ass kicked and I'm standing behind just watching waiting for somebody to get up and Billy Walker gets up. I don't know how much he lost but it was probably more than he could afford lose. Yeah for sure and I sit down and he's our book He's our book we go to him cuz he just really what's the books say. Yeah. Yep. Billy that night the book did not know the book never works for us. So we just curse him out all the time, you know, but he's our guy that says no gotta get split him, you know gotta do it off. So I sit down and I proceeded to win and this was I don't know how many years ago. Do you think this was probably fifteen or something? Maybe I don't know certainly. Yeah. I was making a bloody Robbie. I was making nothing. I I think it probably was like 2007. I just got in I'm making nothing and I'm like, all right. I got to put down some real money here. Like they're betting a $25 minimum table. I'm like damn. I don't think I have twenty-five minimum that was like a ton of money for me. Then I know when they were at $10 we were at a $10 you probably went off in story make it negative sound like a High Roller in Vegas again. I end up winning like your grand and poor Billy Walker sitting behind me watching me take him in his money to call log..

"Pleased to welcome you to the latest edition latest episode of The Good Men and humble podcast and we have our first head coach who's actually requested to be on a spot cast I think to really, you know be able to talk about some of the allegations that were brought against him and Gonzaga head coach Mark view of the phone. Number one Gonzaga Bulldogs has come on to refute some of my allegations. So, you know, I know at through some stuff out there. I knew I know it was hurtful, but I'm going to give you a chance to go that I wouldn't go that far. That's not take it. Let's not get too. I was very as much as a swatting a fly on an arm as hurtful. Maybe I am along those lines. Yeah coach I feel free to be honest. But okay. It was the first podcast I ever listen to I'm not a big podcast guys. And my friend of my one of my sons are SSID or something was telling me about it that they you guys were talking zags. So I they actually put it on my phone. I listen to it when I'm driving out to Lake one day and I heard Mister Hummel here and I was like no offense Robbie but I'm like that guy sounds like a sad man. He just sounds like gets it an honor gets it off. I'm honored. I was I was very very impressed with your take on you guys were talking on a variety of subjects, but then Goodman and just started kind of going off channel on Thursday, you know on some other things and so I'm like come on ruin the good things here. So I wouldn't find him doing that but I was like I Gotta Straighten out this guy that that sounds pretty cool off. He's pretty squared away. So so my take on that was here's what I was telling Rob honestly what I was telling Rob was and you've been fighting with me on this for ten years to have better wage. Work-family balance and I said, I think you have the best work-family balance of probably most coaches out. I don't know if everyone but most of them you do a good job of it off, but but I had heard a story years ago that you went really hard after Luke Ridnour really hard kid from the state you thought you had him you invested a ton of time into didn't get them.

"The whole time or third put back most pigs are like bringing that thing down and some little five ten guards coming in there and taking it from you and embarrassing you and he just you're right the way they feed. Yep. Post there's not many teams in college basketball that are proficient at all for positions to throw it into their big right, you know, it's it's a rare skill and stuff and they took they got on the ball on time on target right where he wants it and you know, he's he's really talented. He's a really talented but all right, so, can he I think I know the answer to this off your perspective. But when you look at him compared to regarding Drew Jimmy cuz that's what you're you're thinking right now is Kim Michigan beat they may not get to them right Gonzaga or Baylor, but I think they put themselves in a pretty good spot now unless they have a complete meltdown. They're probably going to get one of the number one overall seeds so they can avoid those guys until hopefully the the final four if they get off for hot is Hunter Dickinson cuz everybody else matches up pretty well. I mean livers on Corey kispert. Listen, I don't I think that yeah, I think Juwan Howard feel good about that and that's no disrespect Corey. Yep. I just think he thinks that highly of Isaiah livers is Defender. Yeah, Timmy probably scares you cuz he can drive you and he's he's Nimble and quick. You know, I think I'll start with Baylor and you didn't ask about her but I think that those are the two best teams Baylor the matchup I think is is again pretty good four hundred Dickinson. He's going to see flow Tamba. He's going to see John in Chaumont Joshua the concern there is a nice big guards and our physical guards. Yeah, it might Jared Butler that you're worried about that and then with the Gonzaga you're worried about about Timmy in the front court, but I don't think I would look at it..

"Welcome into the equipment and Homo podcast. I'm your host Jeff Goodman. He is Robbie Hummel and Thursday. We got plenty to talk about today. We got a great guess first of all and it is the head coach of the number-one Gonzaga Bulldogs and it is marked for you. So we will get to him in a little bit raw, but first before we get to Thursday, we gotta talk about the big game. That was Sunday then it was Michigan at Ohio State and I know you are a big ten guy. This was a state wage. This was a statement for I think a Michigan team that you know, frankly. I felt really good about and you could see their talent you could see they could score it you could see they can defend but I wanted to see it took a really good team, especially on the road and they did that against Ohio State. They made plays every guy on their team a place. That was the thing that impressed me. Rob is it wasn't one guy? It was dead. Body know I'm with you. I thought it was a statement. Honestly for both teams. I thought even though Ohio State loses and even though they ended the game. I mean the behind-the-back pass like there's some miscues for sure but man they gave Michigan all they wanted and they hung right there with them and I just thought it was such a high-level game on both ends. Michigan is is so so talented and I I got hammered cuz I picked him I said they could finish at the start of the Year anywhere from like 6 to 12, but I said that and I'll defend myself because Mike Smith total no idea no idea how he's going to fit in no idea how he's going to nobody. He shot so much of Columbus. He had two now I'm taking open shots. She's making a place for the people. He's guarding like, I mean, he's good Sean D Brown today high-level high-level role player makes shots Junkyard Dog defensively I dead. I just look at those two guys hundred Dickinson. You didn't I mean highly-ranked kid knew..
