"Latest news evicting world markets, powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in over a 120 countries. This is Bloomberg radio. Now, a global news update, a key economic report out today shows inflation rose more than expected last month, most analysts had expected the August consumer price index to show a slight cooling in red hot inflation. Turns out it actually climbs slightly 0.1% despite sharp drops in gas prices. King Charles the third is in Northern Ireland this morning for the first time as monarch. He reminded political leaders of his mother's role in bringing a closed at the historic violence there. My mother felt deeply I know the significance of the real she herself played in bringing together those who history had separated. And an extending a hand to make possible the healing of long held hurts. The man who shot and killed John Lennon is being denied parole for the 12th time, New York corrections officials confirm yesterday that Mark David Chapman went before a parole board at the end of August. I'm Michael Cassini. Market analysis that goes beyond the ordinary. Again, I learn another function from Matt Miller today. Bloomberg markets with poles weenie and Matt Miller. Why is this stock so unloved? Weekdays at 10 a.m. eastern on Bloomberg radio. We're seeing hopeful signs of progress on inflation as well. The price of gas when we send what I was doing when making the difference and guess what is down a dollar and 30 cents since the start of the summer and continues to go down. Inflation is in July. I said last spring that our top economic priority was to bring down inflation without giving up on all the gains American workers made last year. But there's more to do. There's more to do. That's for sure. That was yesterday. We'll hear from the president a little bit later this afternoon after a hot CPI. I'm sure that David Kelly disagrees with that over at JPMorgan, but most people calling this a hot CPI print in the United States of America. 20 minutes into the session, equities, lower by 2% on the S&P on the NASDAQ. We are lower by more than three percentage points. AMH down in D.C. and Marie, we're here from the present, I believe, at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Yeah, that's right. And he's going to be talking about the quote inflation reduction act, and we have a time when inflation, as you say, Jonathan, and most of the street believes, is hot right now, and it did come in worse than what was expected. And what the president has been leaning into as you just heard him just yesterday talking about the fact that they are seeing inflation starting to quell. He's trying to lean into some of these better economic data points. The one bright spot in this report that The White House is certainly going to spend similar to what the president said yesterday is the fact that gasoline was above $5 a gallon in June. And right now it's hovering around $3 and 70 cents. This is good news for this administration. Just last week, we had the biggest drawdown selling in the SPR since the SPR came into fruition since we had one. It's history. So this is the work they've been doing, but at the same time, how much is he really going to be able to sell this point when you have core inflation higher when you have food high when you have rents higher? And the timing couldn't be worse because obviously we're less than two months away from the midterm elections. And we have seen 90 consecutive days of declining gasoline prices, which really is the heart of what you're talking about Anne Marie. But how much further can they really go because we were talking earlier with Regina Meyer of KPMG and she was saying, you know, talking to how low the inventories have gotten and that they've got to start rebuilding, which will probably create the opposite effect. Yeah, I was listening to that interview. And what her concerns are is what I'm hearing from a lot of people in the industry, which is also you need to start refilling the SPR so that could also be good for U.S. oil companies, but I think a big question about that is at what price is the U.S. going to be willing to start buying oil, right? They would want to obviously try to fill it up at a much cheaper price. And the other big question, of course, is that this SPR release they have and it's been a slow drip in terms of how they do the drawdowns, but it ends in October. So there's a big question of, do they slow it down into the winter? Or is there going to be a potential in other tap event? Emory Horton. Thank you so much from The White House lawn. This morning on Bloomberg radio and Bloomberg television. We continue with David Kelly of JPMorgan. David, I want to go to my chart of the year, which is a comparison of Japan, Europe, and U.S. animal spirit, the nominal GDP. If we get a slower disinflation, if we get an elevated disinflation, how does that change the difference between real GDP and that inflation component? What does that mean for the businesses of America? Well, I think both are going to come down. We're going to get a revision actually to the last 5 years of GDP data. We're going to get that at the end of this month, and it could take away one of the negative

Greg Laurie Discusses the Faith Journey of John Lennon
"To my friend pastor Greg Laurie of harvest church in Southern California, the author of many books, the new one is called Lennon Dylan Alice and Jesus spiritual biography of rock and roll. So Greg, you're sharing some fascinating stuff that John Lennon called in, I mean, I had heard that he was watching Christian TV kind of hanging out in the Dakota during this strange period in the 70s kind of raising his son there just being a house husband and watching Christian TV and that he called up Billy Graham's whatever called up the number on the screen and professed faith in Christ and then you said wrote about it in his diary. Yeah, I wrote about his new film faith in his diary and he recorded two Christian songs. If you go to YouTube and Google John Lennon comet Christian songs, you'll find that they were rough songs, one almost made it on his final album, a double fantasy. But even a double fantasy, you can see him beginning to soften. He writes in his song beautiful boy about his sunshine before you go to sleep, see a little prayer every day and every way gets better and better. John was changing. Now, here's a tragedy, and we all know that. John was murdered by Mark David Chapman. And so I begin this book with this statement. There'll be three surprises when we get to heaven. Number one, some of the people we thought would be there won't be there. Number two, some of the people we never thought would be there will be their number three, we will be there. So here's my premise on John Lennon, because I wasn't there at that moment. He did survive the shooting. They put him in the back of a police car and rushed him to the hospital. The officer asked him, do you know who you are? John did if in the final moments of his life, John called out to the Jesus. He professed faith in his prayer would have been heard just as surely as Jesus heard the prayer of the thief on the cross. So

If you just ignore some people and you don't give them, I feel that way about gunmen that kill famous people. I'm kind of bombed that I know Mark David Chapman's name because they beat it into my head. I think sometimes when we promote bad behavior, the people are doing the bad behavior because they want to be promoted. Now I'm way off topic. But that's my thought on the whole Joe Rogan thing. I truly think 20 years from now, we're going to have reports that came out and it's going to be interesting to see what what really happened within this pandemic. And who really profited from the pandemic? That's going to be the big question. It's sad that people are dead. Like I said, I know people that were dead. But I don't think it's because of Joe Rogan. I really don't. And I also heard I know Neil Young has pulled his music who's the other kind of old washed up musician oh, Joni Mitchell, David Crosby. What's next? Like clockwork orange. The strawberry alarm clock would be the next headline. Strawberry alarm clock has pulled their music from Spotify and then Spotify announce them and said, we don't have that.

I was planned to bring cove in nineteen under control. It involves tougher new vaccine rules for federal workers and contractors and more testing to fight the highly contagious delta variant. The president says it's like with fighting a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Three quarters of the eligible have gotten at least one shot but one quarter has not gotten any. Nearly eighty million americans not vaccinated. That's twenty five percent at twenty. Five percent can cause a lot of damage and they are the unvaccinated overcrowd- our hospitals are overrunning emergency rooms in intensive care units. Leaving no room for someone with a heart attack pancreatitis or cancer and the president urges folks to think about that before this. The white house allowed unvaccinated employees to just take regular cova tests but now press secretary. Jen psaki says that federal workers have about seventy five days to become fully vaccinated or else is a federal worker fails to comply. They will go through the standard. Hr process Which includes counseling and face a disciplinary action but she says it will be limited exemptions for religious reasons but that's it the. Us justice department is suing the state of texas. That move coming after governor greg. Abbott signed that controversial abortion bill into law that bans all abortions after six weeks when most women don't even know they're pregnant attorney. General mayor garland says. The law is clearly unconstitutional. Under longstanding supreme court precedent those precedents hold in the words of planned parenthood versus casey that quote regardless of whether exceptions are made for particular circumstances a state may not prohibit any woman from making the ultimate decision to terminate her pregnancy before viability. And that's why he's going to court besides banning abortions. A new law allows any private citizens that to any other person medical practices and whatever who provides the procedure or even lead somebody to an abortion performed preside for provider rather like even a cabdriver some good news out of new orleans officials say that about seventy five percent of the city's back on line so the apm curfews been canceled. You guys been working hard today in 18 14. The British captured Washington D C and set it on fire. Oh, did they? And let's see today in 18 94 was nothing compared to what happened this year. Not January six. Yeah, absolutely. Today in 18 94 Congress passed a graduated income tax. A year later, it was declared unconstitutional And today it's not for some reason. Today in 1954, the Communist Party was outlawed in America. And earlier, I had pointed out how on this day 1953 in the Houston Chronicle. I'll just read a little of this job because I don't want to bore you. Uh, there's an article about how American GI's captured in Korea were trying to brainwash be brainwashing to believe in communism, and they didn't after 30 months in captivity to Houston soldiers made their way back to Texas after being freed by Communist forces in Korea. Pluto is relabeled as a dwarf planet and kicked out of the planet club, technically making that game for space report, But we have another one coming up to. I'm very excited about that. Oh, And did we mention the, uh Other Florida man. Yeah, we're going back to Florida. Yeah, we did earlier this morning. But there's more excitement happening over there this time, and it's usually better when it's a woman. It's Florida woman. Yeah. Today in 1992. Hurricane Andrew. Remember that came ashore in Florida killed 65 $26 billion in damages and in 1989 A guy named Pete Rose, I think was treated very poorly by Major League baseball. They banned him for gambling. That's a lifetime ban, but he bet on his own team. So is that really fair? It's not like you're betting against your team. If you're betting for your team, that just means you're working really hard to win. Why is that? A rule does it? Could someone explain it out? Yeah. I don't get it and why they're still insisting things that have happened since. Yeah, Way worse. And today in 1981 Mark David Chapman singlehandedly made John Lennon's solo project go from eighth. In the Billboard charts to first When he murdered the guy. I think today's the day was sentenced. Is it not? He was sentenced. No, You're right. Yeah, I'm sorry. I got that wrong. But it's true, though, as well if I don't correct it, everybody else someone else welfare. The other day we I was watching that David Geffen documentary on Netflix pretty good documentary if you like music history, and they were talking about that. How John Lennon Had a song out with Yoko at the time. Nobody cared about it. And it was a thon the billboard charts just because it was John and then he died and then it shot up to number one and nobody even I don't even remember the name of the song. It wasn't like a big song. Er Yeah, it's not still getting played today or anything like that. Alright. Who's ready to get? Uh why are you so gay.

We're getting close to win the water football season weekend we had over the last four days very team nashville ball. League put on helmets put on shoulder pads. Haven't seen every player right to get to though and so while we saw some of the ones we didn't see all the ones did see that rookie quarterbacks and that's where we'll be we'll begin rob well worn sharp. Who will join us. Part of sharp football. We'll get his thoughts on these rookie quarterback's but like look. This is a yearly thing. We get super super hype over watching these guys. Play against very limited in terms of schematics defenses. Was there a guy. And there's plenty of young quarterbacks from you know from a mac jones to a trevor lawrence and trae lance to adjust in fields. Was there one that jumped out at you. Let me start here real quick. And we're talking about young quarterback join love who got hurt nothing serious but right. He's gonna miss some work Probably this week. Doug is if he were ready if they really believe like he was reading i guess he had kind of what one one really good drive in five or six not that great drives right just so so if he was ready or they felt like he was going to be that guy. Do you think aaron rodgers would still be there. Yes okay. I'm just i'm asking. Well no. I mean like listen to when when he was taken it was at the you know it was basically the perfect time now. He's a developmental. Quarterback memory only started two years in in college. Utah state his first year. He was very good second year. They had a coaching change. They weren't very good and he wasn't very good either. It was more about talent potential upside and if people remember back the days leading up to the draft. He was a guy that people like. You know this guy could go in the top ten. Maybe he'll go higher than we think. And so i don't know if he fell but he was gonna go late. I and that's why the green bay packers moved up and took him and the plan was like. Hey he's he's two or three years away from being ready that would be on track with when they can get out the aaron rodgers deal and if we go back it's aaron rodgers coming off of a bit of a disappointing season two years ago but aaron rodgers balled out last year and was the mvp the league. They're not getting rid of getting rid of the mvp. I know i get it. I'm just curious as to you know where he was. Did you get to watch most of him. Jordan lov. no no. I'm like all my information on jordan. Love just comes from talking. Nfl guys like nobody watched me utah. State like i love the the mountain west. And i've covered it for years but i can't say i sat down and goes like ooh jordan. Let me let me break down this this prospect now i. I can't say they did. So who impressed you. The most fields. I think you watch you love. Do you think feel should be the starter from day. One you already know what. Andy dalton is. He's not gonna get you there should you. Just you know go with the trend of of today's nfl. Which is put the guy in. Just just play the guy. He's only going to learn how to play by playing women years ago. Maybe guys came along a little slower. It doesn't seem to be like that's the model. So why not if you think he's that guy. Just play him and make andy dalton tobacco. I can't i think there just has to be a level where you think he's like. He's competent enough. He has enough knowledge. Where you're not gonna over you. Can you can set a guy back right. I mean we just got. We just got done talking to matt hayes of of from jacksonville. Okay and jacksonville went through the entire same scenario. I don't know six seven years ago. you draft. I don't have high expectations into play. The first year he plays good in the preseason. And then you end up stena stick in there. Did you stick them in there too early. And then all the sudden now he develops bad habits right or he or a guy loses confidence. Right like a sam darnold. You have to play him. But you're playing in behind an offensive line with skill position. Players aren't good enough and so you don't get a chance to to understand all the things you're seeing justin field saying that the game was a little bit slower than he thought. Now he did couch with like. Hey look the defense. I play against is a lot faster than the defense we played against. I told you if i went back if you went back three six months ago even the bears guys were like. Let's just were planning on sitting him. Plan let dalton play but the guy's got free. there's a reason he was the number one recruit. There's reason and i knew. I know that you're throwing to open guys it ohio state and he wasn't as good when guys were covered. This year's at ohio state But he does seem to have a little bit of that factor. The bears the bears. The problem with the bears is. They've actually been pretty good like the example is the record of last. Three years is the exact same as indianapolis colts and they've had similar success in the playoffs. Indianapolis colts yet. People have this assumption that the colts are so much better off than the bears are right and i would have said that myself just like you know what i'll looking at the data or the games you know what i mean i yes definitely would have felt okay so so like the problem with trubisky.
