Running around cracking folks talented mark barron aaron talented juju talented james washington during his thug. This'll last night making that step that we want to see from in year one year two. What is that that's talent. Justin lane getting beat every play looking like he has not. I'm not challenge but you might read that. He's a nice guy and a bit. You won't care guys stops looking like he has no hotel it but the chemistry is great so again. Chemistry is app -solutely over over rated. Don't fall in it. Don't fall for it and like one of the guys on or big up to logan logan said all of this and logan question was do you think all the chemistry talk is just taking shots the third and fourth absolutely and i don't know if you guys listen to one earlier episodes of yeah i said it and i i was trying to teach you guys away of how to rip agai passively aggressively and not take the hit yourself itself so every time they talk about chemistry there following a rule that i detail about how to do it what you do do is. If you want to rip a guy to logan's point. Try this at your job low just little jabs. If you wanna rip a guy not say their name a guy or woman job never say their name and your critique just talk about the events that they were associated with instead of naming their name when you say so don't say man that jeff. I really don't like like that guy. You know. He's really happy all the time when we do the podcast i wish he would criticize the steelers more instead you do it like this. This you know when analysts are always happy about the pittsburgh steelers. I don't think it's an honest approach. In terms of we're trying to give to the fans. The fans require honest analysis analysis and sometimes that means you have to be a little little bit negative. You see how that sounded. I love jeff but usually high just ripped jeff. I ripped jeff. It didn't say jeffs name so to your point logan. Yes all of it is a big. All of it is a big every little bit of it. It is absolutely flutie to mr third and fifth mister skin flap. Mr i went into a crowd chamber with no socks mr mr helmet it do head case with the head case. Let me just not get it to. We're going to talk more about their fifth on sunday. "Do you know I think that's important. I mean he's not going to be Antonio Brown. He's they're going to get one hundred catches pro I mean at least I don't think he is but if he if he can be a strong veteran presence and an a big time contributor wtrw on the other sides somebody could take the pressure off you as a big signing then obviously mark Barron a veteran linebacker who can also play a dime safe dime linebacker as a safety so I think there was three pretty I it AH showed that they're not ready to <hes> they're still trying to win their store trying to build a winning winning team and and and and move on without Brown without bell so yeah I think it was that was definitely a high note absolutely recently. I think the steelers did a nice job in free agency. I think they addressed some positions that needed to be addressed. I don't know that they addressed everything but they I felt they put themselves in a really good a position going into the draft that it wasn't that big glaring need that they had to do something in the draft so now we're GonNa talk about the draft in a minute because to me. That's where we're going to get to the highest of the high. But why would you put any lows in there. was any of the players at the steelers lost the free agency the anything significant there nothing really <hes> i. I was sad to see up people like <hes> Arthur merge go but I. I don't really think that there were any true major losses I mean maybe I'm missing one. You know maybe you remind me of something but after shot my head I mean it's it's it's been a long season so you know my brain's Kinda say it's been so long dip and all the way back to two thousand eighteen because our our was the year before we did retire tire in this offseason. That's right yeah so that's still fresh in our minds now I would say I was. I was somewhat sad to see L.. J. Fort go because I thought that he was really growing into a very athletic linebacker but the the steelers were going to address that position so I understood why they didn't keep them even though it would have been on the pretty cheap was surprised that they kept Anthony Cicchillo for so much more than it would've cost to keep fort but the steelers were a lot thinner at outside linebacker. When it came to depth? I was pretty sad. Is He Jesse James Go. I knew it was going to happen. I knew someone was going to give him the money that the steelers couldn't I'm happy for him that he got the contract that he did but it really would have been nice to see him. There's a Pittsburgh steeler. What do you think of that one yeah I like? I can't believe I forgot about that one then again. It's like I said it's been a long season. <hes> yeah I mean he was a good a good number two tight in that was probably his his best position. Seem to be a good number two tight end who could get you the clutch pass every now and then get you thirty forty receptions a year but hey you can't. He can't <hes> blame them for leaving for that kind of money. I mean if they're gonNA pay him that. I think eleven million dollars guaranteed reliance is pay him. You know I mean it is sad as far as the T. team itself as far as <hes> on the field because you know who's your number two tight end now. They're going to be Xavier. Grumble is they're going to be the rookie that they brought in. I mean I don't know I mean fans. McDonald's seems like the real deal but without a true number two at least not yet it. It's you know it's it's a little scary so yeah. That's one that I've said go in for the way hit the way you know he it was kinda victimized in two thousand seventeen with that non catch against the Patriots or non touchdown yeah he was he was a good steeler in sad to see him. Go Yeah I saying he was a good steeler..

"An older guy, maybe twenty eight twenty nine I guy that is played some snaps at a guide that has played in a scheme. Addict LeBow coat scheme. Dom Capers type scheme, somebody that has played a lot of snaps maybe in a part time starter or backup role in dime or initial because other than that you might be at harm's way, because another thing that they could do is, they could try to, you know, maybe flex Mark Barron into a backup safety in the dime, or maybe even a nickel or maybe even a dollar if one of those guys struggles starting safeties or those guys get hurt. Maybe he's the guy that can play a no sub packages, but they brought him into be, you know, more of an inside linebacker, potentially the starter. So hopefully Devin Bush, maybe beat him out and he is that backup flex safety, but Barron, probably can't play free safety. He's more of in the box strong safety guy, particularly if you want him to play inside linebacker. So when you look at the safety position Steelers, have a significant issue there, and they're going to have to address it because if they get some injuries or either one of those safeties gets hurt they're going to be in a world of hurt and trouble. And it's something that they have to address. And I hope they address soon because I like the way the rest of his defense, looks, but I think the safety position is probably the weakest position on the Pittsburgh Steelers team going into twenty nineteen with that we're going to conclude the program, and as always tune in Tele friend and subscribe..

"To Steelers dot com. Theresa Varley of Steelers dot com. And he said it just all it's just the fact that they're they're they're all they're they're they're working in starting towards that. Number one goal. I'm not gonna put a whole ton of stock into this fact that they're there. But I am going to say this the fact that there is such a veteran contingent is the least a good step in the right direction. It tells me that these players have heard what was said they realize what needs to be done and they're taking action towards getting that done. That's impressive for me. That's impressive that the players are doing this. It's impressive that you know, there's coaches they're they're doing this on their own accord. I like that. I like it a lot. It's a good step in the right direction comments that you heard coming from those workouts, whether some Hayward's misused to Rothlisberger himself where all very team focused very team oriented. It wasn't anything crazy. No one was clapping back at into Neo Brown or anything like that. And so for me, I just thought it was awesome. That they're they're it's hope it continues. I have the gelling that they're going through right now it turns of those workouts while holy hopefully, carry it's carryover into training camp or I should say minicamp OTA's training camp. And then eventually the preseason regular season. So it's gonna be really good for a lot of these new players as a lot of people talking about, you know, the fact that you guys like Moncrieff and Mark Barron. They were both there. They're working out. It's giving them a chance to get to know everybody to get comfortable for Moncrieff to catch passes from Rothlisberger for baron to probably pick the brain of a guy like, Vince. Williams, get comfortable. I it's only gonna help. It's not gonna hurt. Absolutely. It's only going to help. So that's that's really the news. It's going on. And I do want to land. I talked to this hopefully, regains connections. It will come back and join us by the end, I do want to answer some of your questions on the show is of the we normally don't do on a standard is a standard at something. I do on my burn question podcast, but the standard is a standard. We typically don't have that. So we wanted to do that tonight. Anyways, if you have questions at the end of the show way into the now for the title of this show, it was sleeper positions for the first round. I wanna clarify what I mean by that sleeper positions. I'm talking about everyone sitting here now, and they're saying inside linebacker cornerback wide receiver safety e you hear hearing a number of positions that are possibilities for the first round in the NFL draft that. Starts his Thursday. I hardly spread around the corner. Exciting types. I guess I thought to myself, let's think outside the box in terms of how we're going to shape the show on in in speak of the devil. He's back. Don't say I'm that guy. No now, but he's back folks lances back. He is here. We've already talked about the schedule we talked about. I've went through on tire bliss man where we're moving along. "Found they number two guy who's already has played with a good quarterback. Andrew luck in this league. And he's gonna be playing with the best quarterback was career. And who knows maybe maybe, you know, it's another jerk cartridge. He's he's a nice veteran receiver who when he's a free agent in two years. You don't wanna see them? Go. You know, that's the very well said now, my next thing that that you kind of Wade into is the fact that you're looking at the breast, and I don't think that's just those wide receivers. You mentioned are going to be just the guys that they go into the season with I still think they're going wide receiver early in the draft still think they can go quarterback very early in the draft. And I don't think that they're going to be able to go inside linebacker early in the draft now because you know, the stock with free agents moves the stock has just really skyrocketed for guys the Devon's for Devon white and for Devon Bush and a lot of people would love to see Devon Bush dropped the Steelers twenty or they'd love to see the Steelers trade up one of those guys. But I think. I think you might have to treat up to twelve because with Burr fict- gone from Cincinnati. They were already linked to inside linebacker now. It's yeah, they're definitely gonna go one of these guys early. So you what do you think in here? Do you think that would Mark Barron being in the food and having Bostick in the fold as well make them not have to go inside linebacker. Makes them not have to treat up for an inside linebacker saved. The defense. Hey listeners..

"Or whatever that like that decision is set in stone? A, you know, by the words, there's a good chance. By the words that he's probably still seem ambiguous though. If if if he were to say himself, I can see myself playing next year. Because of I think he lacks some of the brain cells to be able to actually lie that's probably the truth. Okay. Now, we talked earlier about players that you would be interested in can I throw one more thing out there Kevin about grunk vaccine and partying on the boat now with his girl the way they're partying the things that they're doing costs some money, and I think he wants to continue partying with the super hot chick. He said he's never spent any of his salary. Yeah. He said he will just pay for stuff. No. Well, he spent endorsement money, but he said he's never spent any of his salary super smart. I mean, that's true super smart to take back everything I said about his brain cell. He ability to be able to do something. Like that is what a lot of people are envious of right? Yeah. No, absolutely. You remember Mark Barron? So the Rams are going to release Mark Barron after five seasons. So the idea is well, he has been playing linebacker, obviously, people know, he's got. Yeah. Yeah. At safety as well. As where I feel like so much of the discussion around the NFL draft surrounded him playing safety. So obviously as you addressed earlier Corey would you have any interest in Mark, Barron, would actually I think he's out of position there. I think he's a box safety again. I don't know why Tampa never was in a weird phone, right? From two thousand twelve to two thousand fourteen you could just leave it away. Always always been on in a weird funk. I don't know what his contract demands are going to be you know, how much he's going to cost. But it this guy gets a lot of tackles. And he's always around the ball doesn't have a lot of interceptions though. So that's something. Like, that's what you're trying to do is find a guy that creates turnovers, and it seems like Earl Thomas is the only guy out there that does that because of what Kobi's pointed out Byron Jones doesn't he's your best corner when they attack him. Can he get the ball back, and he just? Doesn't he's not that guy. Cheeto grow into that position. I think he can if the Cowboys look at Tito and say, I think he's turned the corner or he's about to turn that corner. Then I will be fine with this kind of guy fitting in this defense. All right. We've talked about a lot of players that are being like, oh, do you want a more positive story? Do we really need, positively at this moment? Okay. Fair enough. More people that have gotten caught. Sam Acho is out with the bears. I know that hurts Colby. He's a he's Texas kid right there. And then the Texans are cutting Kevin Johnson who you don't have to go that far back. He was the number sixteen overall pick in the two thousand and fifteen draft the Texans picked up the fifth year option for Kevin Johnson. And then they're like. Pass and they decided to cut him. He had to concussions last year. Only played one game. He was money in Phoenix. For the Suns you need to read up about that guy..

"Looks. I think they're pretty straightforward as a team. They they know what they're gonna do. They want to use the people that they wanna use in certain particular situations is just about going out there and executing in obviously going to have little nuances that have little trick plays and things like that. So we've got to be prepared for that. But I think for the most part in my opinion, pretty straightforward in how they want to approach the game as I said the running game going to be very important for us to shut down early on in this game. And then. Obviously move into position to where we have two things for you one. Is it a straightforward offense and to how good can sue be for the Rams tonight? Well, I think dance your second question. I think suicide gonna have to be dominant. He I think he's one of those guys. He's almost labeled as a mercenary type because he's bounces around is in Detroit. He had some issues made a bunch of money Miami. And now one year deal out in LA. I think kind of a season with all of the attention that Aaron Donald gets wasn't the dominant season. It's almost like he gets that the switch got flipped and it's the playoffs in. Here we go. This is what I came here for he got through the regular season. Now, it's cranked up time and you talked about seven first round picks. He is as strong of a human being is you're gonna ever go against and he so he is going to be a matchup problem for the inside. When you're you have to put so much attention on Aaron Donald. So I think in order for the Rams to disrupt the show. Short quick passing game. They're going to get frustrated because the ball comes out so quick then you run it draws doing. You're doing all these things to really mess with Aaron Donald. Consistently get blocked on one kid. He win that match up. If he does and can make two or three big players because you think back to last your Super Bowl. It was nobody could stop anybody. But then Graham made the one big play. The slowdown New England all it's gonna take one or two big plays like that in order to come out. And if suit can do that tonight, all of a sudden. He he has a chance to be a star in this game. By the way, if you're out there driving around listening to us on these super pre-game show on ESPN radio or the seven who are the seven, first routers. Sue, Aaron Donald Aqib Talib. Dante Fowler, jR, Marcus Peters. Mark, barron. Michael brokers. We are not kidding seven of the eleven daughters on the Rams defense. First round picks. Okay. Lots more. We'll get into the ramps the state of mind of the LA Rams. Here's a unit for the first time. Here's a franchise for the first time in almost twenty years since Kurt Warner and the Saint Louis Rams got to the Super Bowl remarkable Jared Goff people counted him out a couple of years ago. Jeff Fisher didn't seem to want to play when he was the head coach of the Rams house. He entering this game. We will dive into the Rams side of Super Bowl fifty three as you are listening to these super pre-game show on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. The best word I'd say described coach McVay is. Transparency. Great leader as you've got to be to be a great leader. Right. Gives a of ownership and understanding of what he expects a to require no matter who you are very consistent with that. "We've got the data. One other Bern areas in Senegal fax that matter to you KNX ten seventy NewsRadio one now on KNX. Time now for our Canucks insider report with resilience of the NFL network. Here's KNX ten seventy east Calton Randy Koon and Vicki more. So Andrew let me ask you this. Everybody's talking about British golf that they get the attention because they're the quarterbacks, but both of these teams have really good running backs as well. You've got Todd Gurley with the Rams you got sending Michelle what the patriots both university of Georgia graduates, by the way, I'm wearing my university of Georgia shirt today. So let's talk about the running game. Because I kind of think that the team that establishes the running game best might win. This thing. Yeah. You know, it's a great point ended up with the Rams did against the Cowboys. And the first playoff game that ran right through the early. A lot of people think that's what the patriots may come out against the Rams. They ran a lot of I formation when they beat the chargers James Devlin right at the middle cleared the way for Sony Michelle for James white. But he was more of a threat out of the backfield catching the ball in that game. The Rams vulnerabilities stopping the run. We've set it all year. They give a five yards of pop. It's not good. That's the bottom believe. And when you have a powerful fullback who James Devlin was told yesterday, he's making the position sexy again going up against underside guys. Like, Mark Barron or like, Cory Littleton or John Johnson has to come up and fill that hole. Many people think that is where the patriots have the edge here on Sunday. Andrew the Rams were considered the underdogs here. Most of them have never been this close to a Super Bowl ring. The patriots have been here forever for the ninth time. Now are the Rams walking around like white kids? Are they dealing? Veteran players or what they're handling it. There's there has not been this old. Wow. I can't believe we're here. I'm saying Garon moment yet. Granted you could look at the macelroy Coleman. Article report that's off on Monday that certainly had its own little arc of talk with media night on Monday night. I think they're past that, you know, the crazy thing is. Yes, the Rams were the underdog. Yes, Rams are the inexperienced team here. The patriots. However, four months, we we've talked about it. I continue to laugh at it have called themselves the underdog because Tom Brady claims that some some mystery writer or talking head claimed that they suck. No one's been able to find who said it it didn't happen. Plenty of people picked against them at certain times this year because the quite badly in September. And and that's what we do in this business. You you're supposed to pick a team. Just because you pick the other team doesn't mean that the team with five Super Bowl sucks. Right. So runners of before the big marathon, we'll car bop. And they'll do special things do you know if the ball players. I mean, do they eat anything special? Is there anything going on special for them before the big game? You know, everyone's got their own routine. Some guys listen to the same music on the way to the stadium, but their headphones some guys have the exact same meal, and really it's a question because this week is just. Frying, keep it normal..

"Way to get him. The football and face is going to pass the patriots defense like the haven't been tested all. I you know, when you look at the way, they're matchup. They'll handle those guys fine. But Todd Gurley is truly truly the weapon and putting all that ramp offense Weinstein. You know, if if I think the patriots offense has been the best in the league ethic Rams have been the second fastest. And a lot of people would have been the best, but talk talk yearly is going to give the patriots a ton of problems. Next sunday. I can I can guarantee that. What's the the best match up for them to exploit? For the patriots defense. What's what's there and the offense? What's what's the match up? Then on each side of the ball. They really want to exploit where do they have the best advantage? I think the offense is really gonna wanna get. Obviously, they want to get the ground game going and everything. I think really when they can get James white in these things Johnson third and short putting putting guys like like little and Mark Barron in these coverage situation where they have to be able to key in on game point on third. Restarted against Kansas City where where Tom Brady was it was checking down run and then later in the game from from check down to a run into a foot. You know thing. Tom Brady puts the. Third down short. It's gonna put a lot of expect the quays. Emptying McCoy book on these third and short. I think it's.

"Smith the festival stars Mark Barron. David Spade, Elisa Slesinger, what sold out. All right. Well, then screw it. And that was you by the way, selling four o'clock. Yeah. Nice going. There you go the hottest ticket. How about SRO standing-room-only? No steadier can't here. Okay. All right. Congratulations. Maybe we should be scalping tickets. Steve. So just don't do that anymore. Put that piece of paper throw it away. All right. The radio doesn't pay like it used to. So yesterday, isn't that the truth? We. We had a bunch of bomb threats all over the country, including here in southern California. I thought you meant here here. Okay. No, thankfully, we weren't affected. But it was against businesses schools, hospitals and other places also in Canada, by the way, it caused panic evacuations turned out all of them were hoaxes joining us to explain this is retired FBI special agent. Bobby Ciccone, you can follow on Twitter at Bobby Ciccone FBI, Bobby. Thanks so much for joining us. Hi, john. Thanks for having me. Hire. Stephen dorothy. I'm Bobby follow. You right now. How was I not following you? I'm honored. So what do you think happened here? Bobby Czyz, some a jerk that's domestic or is this a foreign government or a foreign group? Go ahead. As as we dig into it. It's looking very similar to an attack that happened in may in the UK the difference with that one was it was the same ransom demand. Fulfilled coin, you know, online, except in that when I believe instead of explosive devices, it was one of those six ones where they said, you know, each recipient was told they had packed into their cameras on their, laptops and gotten some of them naked or engaged in other activities, or whatever and it turned out to be a complete hoax. And I believe they've they've already started tracing some of yesterday's attacks through similar servers internationally that we in that you K attack in may. So, you know, the motivations behind these types of attacks are harder to nail down. Because it doesn't seem like they were going to get any money very quickly, you know, wouldn't place like New York and Los Angeles Police Department went out and they hoax buildings research. No explosive found in any of the places that were said to contain them know, although buildings were evacuated. So a lot of disruption to businesses and schools and things like that. So, you know, it's whether or not it was like. Pay also had a. Four attention. Whether it's that kind of person or somebody that's looking to disrupt these types of institutions, it's unknown. Sure. If that's what they're looking into their. They're looking at the victims of these things seeing if there's a pattern of the victims, you know, but this one seems really widespread it happened in dozens of cities in Canada, and the US all kinds of different your, first businesses and government entities. So it's I'm sure they're they're trying to nail down exactly who did this. And why in the other case that you're talking about did people actually a off in bitcoins? You know, I don't know. I some some may have the problem with with cases, like this is the people that pay off in that situation or noise, the ones that won't report it, so you know, because either they think the person does have such incriminating or balancing videos, and they just don't want to report it, they, you know, I it's hard to it's hard to say. Because sometimes if they're successful with the victim like that, you don't know because that person doesn't report it, and this can really paralyze the nine one one system can it because we rely on the honor system where if you see a fire you call in and reported or you see a crime happening, you call it and reported and the nine one one operators only have to deal with actual crimes. Maybe there's a few nuts. Call it and make things up there lonely and just want someone to talk to. But if you have foreign entities that are purposely trying to clog up the system, they could create problems for people who are actually having emergencies. Oh, yeah. And then think about a hospital getting a call like this where you you know, you may start evacuating, Asians and things like that. So these kind of things are hoaxes, but they can cause real problems. They can overload on one system, you know, schools are closed in evacuated. And then you never know what the what the outcomes at that could be it could be used as a diversion. They could be they could be looking to actually cause an attack somewhere else. And so they do this just to to gauge the response. So, you know, if you wanna see how LAPD responds you, you put out a bunch of these kind of threats, and then you sit back, and you watch any record what their responses are. So now, you know for, you know, any potential future Ericson always has to be on guard for that kind of thing to see if they're being surveilled themselves to gauge what kind of response they haven't type situations. And I always worried about copycats. I remember you Stephen I have a conversation after Columbine and oh my God. That was and this is the very thing. Are we talked about this yesterday? John brought up. Unfortunately, when we report these things inspires, people, a little sick, a little weird or trolls who just wanna have fun messing things up. Bobby? What do you do with building like Warner center in New York CNN because now they're getting kind of regular bomb threats? I mean, that's a big building with lots of stores and offices and. Yeah. I've been in that building I've worked in that building. And and you're right. They had another one last week. Those are direct targeted wants to. They're more difficult to deal with because you have to treat them much more seriously than knees. And it's you know, I mean, what you can do with that is because we have a target like that you could harden that target as much as you you, can you know, you bring in you know, your private security. That's in there. You may add for example, you may bomb detection dogs, your regular security staff and things like that you made do sweeps more often for supposed to certain places because I think this is the second or third time maybe more that CNN at least last week. It was they weren't part of your tech yesterday. But last week they were hit with a separate independent attack. So or threat, so you know, CNN has to work with it security people to, you know, make sure it's more secure because you know, to be to be evacuating the CNN building in New York every time. What are you stretched comes in could be problematic? Bobby that raises the the most important question. If you're the person making the decision on behalf. Half of the building the clubhouse the stadium the concert hall, whatever it may be how do you decide? This is real enough that I'm gonna shut it down. You know, that's that's a very difficult question. I mean, obviously, you wanna always say that they'll err on the side of caution. When you don't know when the more something happens, and and there was no consequence. In other words, the more fake or false hoax threats. Get made what happens human nature as we can place up. Well. That's the difficult for people. That are in those situations that make those decisions, you know, at security at a concert venues, and and things like that are inserted very difficult positions. These days on when they actually pull the trigger on evacuating dogs because it's it's you know, you're going to be second. Guessed if you if you don't do the evacuation and then something happens, right? You're going to be really looked at. So it's just a tough tough position for those people begin they have to have you know, in advance. They have to have the processes that. They have confidence in that. They say, you know, well, what they each will have their own security apparatus set up to determine whether it's a hoax or not they have retired law enforcement working with them and working for them to do that stuff. So it all depends on their level of confidence. They have an internal security systems. So when they say, okay, my people are telling me this whole people are telling me, we've swept the building. There's nothing in here. You know, it's you know, in some people will come down one side of issuing some people come down on the other. It's it's a very individualized thing. And it will be a reflection of confidence they have in their internal security mechanisms last question before you go when you were at the FBI what percent of the tips that you would get were hoaxes or someone trying to get back at it acts or just things that weren't true. More than were actually real right? So I don't know the number on it. But you know, I was in the, you know, all we didn't even have computers. So in the age of internet threats and things like that. It's on exponential. And because it's so much easier to to make a threat now via Email or to some anonymous Suber that's out there than it was in the old days. We literally have to write it on a piece of paper and mail it, and you know, and and put your fingerprints on an envelope or something like that. So it nowadays they're more threats and the the probably percentage of skirts. Has risen even more. So I think that most of the threats coming in well hoax back then. But again, you know, you can't take, you know, very often. You can't take the chance of treating it as a whole because the consequences of not treating it. Seriously are too high. I'll ride Bobby Tacoma. We're going to have to leave it there. Thanks so much for stopped by have a great weekend. Nice. Thanks, steve. Thanks and don't forget to follow. "And an inability to judge properly the receivers you actually have come. It's embarrassing also had Vinnie bonds in your on the program does a great job covering the Rams and the NFL from the west coast from Los Angeles for the athletic and Vinnie who's around the Rams all the time gave us his reaction to their victory over the raiders it kind of gets lost in the translation. But you know, the Rams started seven different seven new defensive players last night compared to what base finished the season with last year. And it was a pretty good defense last year. But seven new players granted one was due for injury purposes. Replacing Mark Barron. He's a normal starter. But. Not much surprised that they struggled a little bit. And I talked to a key to leave. And he kind of character arise it as it. Was it was freelance or freestyle football out there. They had nothing to go on going into a game against Jon Gruden who hadn't coached in ten years. So there was really no relatives film you'd be able to to look at. No, no recent things that they can say, okay. This is what he's definitely gonna do. It was literally learning on the fly in the game thirteen points about first half. They came back and Fitz shut out in the second half. And that's credit to the talent that they have. But also the coaching of Wade Phillips to get him into the half into halftime in the locker room settling down figure out what was going on. And they went out there and impose their will on on the raiders and that happened on offense as well. So it wasn't the greatest performance by the Rams, but when you walk away on the road with a twenty point win outscoring your appointed opponent twenty three to nothing in the second half. That's a pretty good day's work. And by the way, I'm not sure I buy a keep to leaves. Notion that because there's no film on Gruden for ten years. There's nothing that you can really evaluate like it's not like because Gruden hasn't been around. You can't look at Phil Madeira cars. It's gone. It's in the multi-version. Right. Like, no, it doesn't actually work that way. But if it's true, if he's right, and I'm wrong all the more of a condemnation on the raiders inability to come out and be more successful. If it really was a secret mystery because gruden's been in the mall diverse, or whatever whatever the point was multi versus the traces favorite thing on the show. Also asked Vincent about his perspective is you of close of young Rams coach Sean McVay as long as he wants to do this. He's going to be one of the best that doesn't, and I truly truly believe that Bill. I can't tell you what you're you've talked to plenty of athletes, and when you talk about their coach, sometimes it's a forest type of thing, you know, to give up the credit to them when players talk about Sean McVay, especially offensive players. I mean. I'm talking about sincere, genuine smiles. And maybe you he's young. So he kind of connects with them from that perspective. But also offensive players when you're talking about wide receivers and running backs they understand that if I'm bringing something that their table. This coach is going to figure out how to make that an asset on this team. I'm gonna get my touches I'm gonna be involved, and he's going to figure out a way to put me in the best possible position to succeed because every coach said that, but he actually does it and these players respond to that. So I think that there's something special with him. He's an old soul wrapped up in a thirty one year old, you know, body, and it's something that players Reese players respond to and like I said as long as he wants to do this. I think he's gonna be fine. The question is is he I mean ten years from now, and he's only thirty or forty three years old forty two years old is still what he's going to be wanting to do. So it'll be interesting to see how long keep aside do that. Because I think as long. He's going to be very good at it. Really fun, really fun show tonight. And had a great time. I will not be here. Tomorrow. I have some CBS sports HQ duties to attend to. I wish I would be here. I won't be Chris more will be in along with Stuart. And Tom Di Benedetto, you're in good hands. I'll be back on Thursday and still have you have you finished Ozark yet. I have not just a football. I'm so busy. But hopefully by the end this week, I think I'll finish really good. Rick and Morty to is this I've fallen down the rabbit hole of Rick and Morty. It's so good trays. You've got your weekend. Now's your Friday happy. Happy friday. What are you? What are you going little, Stu? It'll get a little bed bath and beyond or something different oil. See if our time on a lot of planned out nothing really just hanging out to be honest catch up on some TV or movies really had a chance to do that at all of late. I'm not gonna say that you should Google the multi-diverse and be ready for the multi-diverse questions in the next race case. But I'm not gonna say that you shouldn't. I'm just gonna I'm just gonna leave it there. This is the only most one I've ever gotten for traces case. So you I'll take your word on universes, buddy. Somewhere. There's a trace right now. There is just still breaking down the multivitamin and blowing like Phil biters mine wherever the name of the guy who's the host of the show crazy. Have a great night. My name is Bill Ryder. The show is rather than you. And we really appreciate your time with us. "As I've been screaming and hollering for the last couple of weeks that they needed to play in a game, they, they got a couple of series in. If you look at what the way that they played in that particular game, what are we expecting win? In fact, they get Donald back from this defense. I think they're going to be a dominant group and we were just joking around the other day when they do get Donald back in uniform. I don't know what unit actually would be the better group, the offense who led the league in scoring or this. This new look defense. But I mean, you're gonna have a tough time blocking sue and rockets by yourself. When you add Donald to the mix, I don't know what you do, but the guys that really stood up remake Wilson number fifty. Two, I think has been a perfect addition to this football team. I think he is a a settler if you will an inside. Linebacker when you still trying to find that group, you're not sure about Mark Barron. Bryce Eggers a guy that you're not really sure about that they can play every single snap. This guy played well with the starting unit made a lot of place, Cory Littleton, getting them lined up played well in the snaps that they had. So just those guys outside of the people, we've all been talking about, they played well on game day versus the tax. So in other words, you said you don't know what side of the ball will be more effective. So this is more like the Dallas Cowboys championship run type team were both sides of the football bowl defensively, and ofensive Lii was dominating the NFL for a couple years. This is more the makeup for the Rams I would say, right. I mean, number one, we have to see the offense on the field. So I'm assuming what I'm seeing in practice is going to translate to September because we've had this argument about preseason snaps. I'd love to see some, but I'd like to air on the side of caution. So assuming they pick up right where they left off on offense from last season. I think they have a chance to be great there. Now when you add Donald..

"On all the right ways 'cause it's as good as dhamma consumer is they still have issues at edge rusher at linebacker i mean look at their depth chart you know they traded away mark barron and i mean not mark barron but and i don't know who's gonna play there i don't know but everything they've got going on the secondary love john johnston i think you know the the five guys play primarily back there in the secondary really good it's not perfect but boy you have some you know with peter donald and sue you have three of the ten best defenders and the nfl maybe i mean that's that's where you start right there i think i'm looking for the stat i wanna say it's it was pittsburgh's to it and somebody else that combine for one hundred hayward yes yes combined for an interior one hundred six interior pass rushes and ninety six by himself like it's unbelievable the amount of here this cam hayward stepped onto a combined for one hundred and two pressures last season third most by any interior defender do on the nfl the only player who had more had an airedale with ninety one bush's just that's unbeliev favorable the terms of production it not only is he you know an athletic freak maybe the most athletic defensive tackle in the league he he adds on top of all that raw talent with actual production it's every got guys like von miller guys like those guys get sexy get older they get the sex there faster athletic aaron donald right i would i would take aaron donald over von miller any day and it's not to me it's not close i mean he's a unicorn i mean there there is no other aaron donald the nfl does what he does you know there there's the fletcher cox journal mccoy's are all great players i don't want him i don't want to put them down on just saying donald is so different think about you did have training camp he showed up a day prior to week one last year was the temporary or whatever it was you know didn't get practice gets in there the next week and just starts dominating he played fourteen games and one defensive player of the year i mean just what you know what i mean in a new system by the way remember the talk last year about bo aaron donald how's it gonna fit wade phillips scheme he's going to be a a three four and got the play five techniques come on i mean he just goes out there and beats people you're going to double team great he'll he'll knife between it you know he'll he'll cut out the the first guys legs and blow up the ron play or he'll get the quarterback and chase down from i i remember seeing him the first practice at the senior bowl when he was coming out of pitt and saying to myself he was beating up on some poor kid and i'm forgetting his name was baylor often to lyman any he just took batting practice on it was the bear thing i thought this guy could be elite and i knew that you know covered one practice right we'll deal that's that's how specially as i let you go your thoughts on the bills as kinda come home here the thoughts and the bills off season obviously this is a team that leads the league and dead cap money so there wasn't a ton of area to improve through free agency they end up with two i think really at least say what you will about josh allen traded the pick of trimming adams at sixteen could totally change the outlook on his franchise because they just have not had that type of linebacker and and considering they're on a defense that they really requires a great mike linebacker a sideline to sideline type guy that was a huge pickup for them but considering they didn't have the a lot of fun to add to their team where your thoughts on where the bills projected.

"Yeah yeah so that is so i don't i don't know i i'm definitely more outspoken now than i was at the start and but i but i don't know what the answer is it's not every individual has to make their own choice you mentioned when you talk to mark barron that some somebody told you every shows looking for a woman so you're lucky of course woman and it's the same at sports i have a straight white male friend who said totally straight face complained that there was no room for him because people were looking for something else instead except for the fact that the entire network is mostly made up with that right right right and history i mean look you know it is a moment in history where it's true there are cases where a qualify man might not automatically get the job because there's also a qualified woman or person of color and that gives them an advantage because it should be an advantage to have all the experiences that may not be represented in that that room and i feel badly for those guys the ones i don't feel badly for our all the mediocre straight white men who used that as the excuse for why they're not getting hired yup you know you cowrote lean in sheryl sandberg and it it was both a defining movement and also a very controversial book and there was some very interesting reaction to that book much of which people believed was not even specifically to what you share a road but to who she was and what she represented people and why they didn't wanna take advice from this millionaire woman what was your reaction to have that book was received.
