"I think you'll find a different home I'm hopefully that will. Well. Yeah. You you. Yeah. Pandora exactly yeah. So it's on CW and tell me more about the streaming. Is it it I? I was thinking that it was a on but. I have not heard about it for a while I know our season aired and then you know maybe still might be on demand. W. A. Over Yeah Yeah it's okay. Good. I'm happy for him. But for mark. I mean that's no. Once, you get your second season. There's your. And They interestingly, they make that much Pandora with UFO, which is run by field Ross. How this business works. was making movies way back when I started star. Trek. But making them independently not with this not with the same company I was the. I was still lead or second lead in Las. First movie. Oh. Isn't that weird that is weird. and. Yes and then manticore for sci-fi was was made by Phil Ross Company and now Mark Altman is. Working with Phil Ross. s probably through Thomas the tally who tally was head of Scifi or he's Brosse p of original programming, and so now he's producing independently are producing CW. It's just you know everyone knows each other and knows each other for a very long time? Oh sure. I'm happy to Pandora is GONNA get a second season and that's great. Because I I, I think they honestly I think they were still kind of finding themselves a little bit but I like what mark was trying to do what he was trying to tackle in this series and I appreciated that I did appreciate market good at. True. Genuine fan of Kim. Of the genre I mean, he's one of these kids that it's all he loved and all he wanted to do, and now he's doing it. He's a leader in it and There are some people that really are that and that it shows Devlin who markets work with considerably is another one of those people.

"When they were doing production of card they when the episode with the rikers Michael Dorn in the visited the set and so these people are still a super closed in real life. I would not be shocked to see a wharf or laforge comeback into Picard at the same time or maybe separately but it was. It's definitely going to happen. It's just a matter of when and WHO and he even said. Burton goes into while if if Jordan did come back. This is what I would want him to do. I'd want him to be teaching and passing on the knowledge that he learned throughout his career. So those are very specific notions and ideas. That he wants so wouldn't surprise me if it's already in the works However sad news the have been doing although writing cards season two but they haven't actually gone into shooting and they were planning to do it this summer but it's been pushed back to Kobe. Nineteen for safety reasons and I completely agree with that. It's just it's a bummer. Because there may be some big gaps between Picard season one and hopefully discovery season three comes out on time but this is hard to say because of the safety issues with Kobe. Nineteen and social distancing however it is nice to see maybe we'll get some Burton action in the future speaking of Kovic. Nineteen kind of wrecking everything. We're going to start out with some a little bit bad news in rapid with some good news as we finish this relaxed fit episode is that. I'm sure you've probably already heard but comic con. San Diego has officially been canceled. He was originally going to be for the weekend of July. Twenty third through the twenty six and in a I mean I I agree with shutting things down I know that seems super far out but to have that thousands and thousands of people from all over the world is a smart concept. And if you're angry about that I mean it's it's for the greater good and trust me. Nobody understands cancellations more than me personally. I'm a marathon runner and it's very difficult to plan for a marathon. Because you have to have at least three or four months of training all these cancellations of come out and it's like wow. I've just wasted the last three or four months for nothing and I'm registered for the Chicago Marathon. The beginning of October and then one called the Marine Corps Marathon at the end of October. And everybody's gas because it's like they're probably going to be canceled. Should I even begin training? I understand cancellations and how frustrating they can be and then you lose a bunch of money on plane tickets and hotels but there is a little bit of good news out of this. Is that the Convention Center that they've been using for the San Diego. Comic Con has actually been turned into temporary hospital in slash cove in nineteen testing area. So I think that's an amazing use of those resources instead of remaining empty and it's frustrating. But you have to think the quicker we can beat this the quicker we can get back to normal so. I know it's frustrating some bad news. However here's a little bit of good news and to help again kind of in the same vein as the cocktails with Kate is that there are a lot of new streaming services that are coming out with this watch. Party APPS and watch party capabilities one of them is from paramount and they will be holding live virtual screenings of Star Trek to wrath of Con. The closest one will be April twenty fifth through an APP called. Cya Live not cover here. It's called Cya. Live and I think you can pay a dollar ninety nine to be a part of this live streaming and it seems a little much but they are bringing in two special guest host. They are the host of the inglorious experts Whose names are mark. Altman and Darren door chairman and they will be doing a intro to the movie and they're doing a QA afterwards but the cool thing about Cya live is that you can talk and communicate throughout the movie with the guest and then with whoever's involved while watching the movie so it's a cool concept at kind of in the same vein as the Netflix. Watch party. No you haven't heard of this. It's a chrome extension. The netflix came out with that. If you're on a desktop or laptop you can share specific code. Your friends and you can watch Netflix together. In this kind of private room where you can chat and talk about which. I think is totally cool and I need to do that. Because there's so many good Star Trek episodes that I can watch with some of my friends so I encourage people to do that. He doesn't have to be Star Trek but try to watch party together. I thought about doing that something on like an instagram live. Kinda just held the social distancing and maybe not have people seem so far apart and alone so you can do that on net flicks however Amazon prime is starting to work with twitch. Now I've never used twitch before because I'm not a huge Gamer. But they're trying to work out. Some Dior Amazon prime members can use the twitch software to have the same thing. Have the same watch party. Nothing's been announced yet. I think it's still in Beta testing. So if you WANNA be a tester for that I would definitely go to twitch DOT TV if your name is on. Prime member go to their main prime website and see what can be done but but circle back around go to see. Why live two dollars a ticket to watch that wrath? Akon live with those podcasting guys and there are other streaming cons that people are starting to come up with like I think cameo did on April eighteenth they did this massive iconic characters virtual panel and it had of course had Jonathan Facts. And so they had a lot of by common characters. Show up so I don't know if you can go online and watch that. I think it's for Free Cameo but upcoming is that on April twenty fifth and May Second. There is a kind of a virtual. They're calling it a hollow Khan and it's through the lambda quadrant podcasting network. They're going to have special guests. Nicole Day Bauer. She Played Dax on designed for the season. I think it's a neat idea to kind of check in and even though we have to be distant physically doesn't mean we can still interact and attend these quote unquote virtual COMECON panels. So definitely check them out like I said it's on Twenty Fifth April twenty fifth of May second through the Lambda quadrant. So I think that's all the news we're gonNA cover today but let's wrap up this episode and move on. I'm under if I can come cheer up but I still had to find something new in this one for you to recall your wars Freeman. Who so free as of the waves always ready steady boys any real five. I'm recalling out again so I'm in the middle of researching and getting ready for Borg Three while I can't believe it's already been to other episodes and in that episode we'll cover The main meat of all board history mets the twenty fourth century as well as the heavy hitters Captain Picard and Captain Janeway. The main two captains. I've interacted with the board more than anyone as well as a little bit of Cisco he doesn't have a lot but we'll just throw it in there because it fits neatly snugly in that twenty four th century once again if you guys WanNa debate or one comment on the show. Please hit me up at Omega Particle podcast on Instagram. Or you can email me at Omega Particle podcast Edgy. Jimoh DOT COM. Feel free to reach out. It's not like we have anything to do. Our lifestyles are super busy right now. Just WanNa say thank you for listening and tuning has only been a blast. We'll get back and I can't wait to cover our conclusion of the Borg series. "The drive with Leigh Matthews so a lot of people out of work and out of school today because of the corona virus many schools started their spring break a day early just to kind of get the kids away from each other and hopefully into save households where they could somewhat quarantine but did you notice what I noticed I noticed like a Saturday traffic on the on the roads Saturday crowds in the grocery stores and Saturday crowds the malls so I guess what ended up happening was everybody got the day off to go into each other that's what makes you think she's a witch well she terminal in corona virus you coronavirus go better in news radio one thousand Katie okay for one thousand Leigh Matthews Katie okay dot com if you want to join in the conversation just a an observation just an observation later on we've got the latest from Tom Hanks and his wife who are down in Australia suffering from corona virus I've got a lot of communiques on social media to share with you I don't want to go through this presidential declaration that was made today because he took a long time to be very thorough to spell out what it is and what it means and I wanted to just come to summarize it for you so you will know and that when you see stuff on it because again it's already see criticisms about what the president has been infected by corona virus he took a picture with someone who is now being diagnosed with the president is taking money away from the poor to help with corona virus I mean you can see all that Bravo Sierra and I want you to be able to tell the difference between Bravo Sierra and authentic stuff so that's coming up too we got some new details about the biology of the corona virus I wanted to share with you a little bit later on that we will be joined by Michael Bauer of twenty four seven news and just when you thought things couldn't get any more bleak there's word that we're running out of testing kits bills emperor will give us more on the actual declaration that was made today it's actually enacting what's called the Stafford act and it's got an interesting history about you did now speaking of history mark Altman is a biographer he's been on before he's written thorough biographies of the Star Trek the television series his newest is about James Bond and it's called nobody does it better as you may know I'm a James Bond fan growing up I wasn't in the comic books but my super hero was James Bond and so I'm in I'm all in and can't wait to talk to this guy which I'll do later in the program on news radio one thousand Katie okay it's looking bleak outside with traffic and weather let's get into that with Aaron bracket of the four warn storm team banter road king Rogers report is sponsored by nature valley sweet and salty bars on the seventy plus he was a total traffic studio westbound forty west of Anderson south on Broadway extension westbound forty four slow going they're wrapping up the earlier injury accident memorial road in eastern some of the newer accidents with was thirty six at Penn northeast thirty six at Kelly Shrivastav macarthur half the roads as we can and wrap it up should be wrapping up north west fifty ninth place at Penn also Mustang road at arena broking total traffic sweet and salty bars from nature valley are a perfect combination of sweet and salty so take a moment for yourself out here you deserve every last bite nature valley sweet salty bars now available in many Mike Morgan of I'm sorry Aaron bracket four warn storm team says misty rain continuing today and tonight and down the forty seven for the low in fact is going to continue throughout the night tonight and into part of two Morrow ending by mid day with a high of sixty four partly cloudy tomorrow night forty one for the low partly cloudy most of the day Sunday eighty percent chance of rain late in the day and a high of fifty five rain.

"The type that stays in the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami because that's where James Bond first met all right Goldfinger this book is for you mark Altman is the author of nobody does it better the complete uncensored authorized oral history of James Bond mark you had me at the opening sentence I Sir am one of you Lee I was not surprised before I would get now I've not stayed at the Fontainebleau hotel but I did insist when I was in Ocho Rios Jamaica on a private tour taking me up the mountain to show me the bungalow where yeah where where a lot of that took place and I had to get pictures by the bauxite mine were Dr no was filled I love it while while in Vegas I had to go to circus circus I didn't stay there because it's pretty dodgy these days but I had to see it and was disappointed I didn't get to see the original Hilton where Willard white held up at this point I had the same thing with their concerns I had to go check it out because I was there forever but there was no way I was staying there there now they did seem to have a pretty nice six dollar buffet but one would be caught Janet that six dollar up at mark Altman has written many books before we've had him on the fifty year mission the complete uncensored oral history of Star Trek and then this well Battlestar Galactica as when we had you on late well the last time I think and this one nobody does it better the book is really sick explained this isn't a biography of James Bond don't know what it is it's an oral history of the entire James Bond film saga but of course we talk about the N. Fleming books and we also talk about spy mania which which spawned by the success of the bond film so it's a little bit talk about man from uncle and Matt Hillman in like flint and obviously the nineteen sixty seven the funeral al's boo well which is number one the more fun chapters but we cover the entire James Bond saga Natalie told from the people that made it and wrote it and starred in it but also from other filmmakers who were inspired by it which is you know part of the fund is I think part of the fun of being a bond fan is having those conversations with your friends about your favorite episode your favorite movies favorite villains I think you love things you hate who's your favorite bond and we tried to capture that the book by having you know not just a straight making but also opinions from different people and I think that's what really makes it such a fun easy breezy read what you think it is about spy mania I know for me personally I was never a comic book fan I never got into the fantastic that was offered by comic books but to me James Bond was believable yeah I think it would I think James Bond was always aspirational because you know when he first started you know air check travel was really ubiquitous evening well whether Jamaica Ocho Rios and you risk being in the Bahamas and you were seeing is some ball and it was like wow this is look at the world beyond my doorstep it's pretty amazing and you also had this character who did what he wanted you know who did not suffer fools gladly you know who who you know which is you know basically unstoppable and Martin I don't you know it it's the old cliche man wanted to be in women wanted to be with him yeah I think that's something that continues to resonate even today with that character I don't even I used to get hung up on the which James Bond do you like best I don't I don't do that anymore yeah because I think and I say it's in the book you know you have your favorite bonded your lease there but there's never been a bad on hold great their own way you know for me he clearly Sean Connery's raise bond but that doesn't negate the fact I love Roger Moore you know it doesn't negate the fact I love Daniel Craig you know it is a lot about George Lazenby I yeah you know David Niven not so much because so you know it it's it's it's it's not a zero sum game you know like to look at it that way I only like this right you know when you find a lot of that the younger fans who only know you know who left here you know that that's their bond you know I look here too but I mean it's like they demand yep this No Sean Connery there's no nobody else you know other people who discovered it with Daniel Craig and he's their bond so you know it's great that it continues to find an audience after all these years you know is getting on in years get in the middle is your middle aged L. fifty fifty some years old so it's great that it continues to be a vibrant franchise that it yes Sir so much passion nobody does it better the complete uncensored on authorized oral history of James Bond from the best selling authors of the fifty year mission mark Altman along with Edward gross I can't leave him out of that you get a lot of work on the book you deserve the credit well you know you were talking about the the staying power especially of the movies DO you know what what's going to happen with the broccoli family they're the ones who have been bringing this along the whole time get out it's a very interesting question your time with the broccoli you know the the the franchise began with Albert broccoli and his partner Harry Saltzman Harry left your Alberta became a family business when he turned over to his sons Michael Wilson and Barbara broccoli and they run it very well for the last you know twenty years since their father died but you know this is the last film now with Daniel Craig you know they're getting older yeah I don't get a sense that there are other people in the family that are being groomed to take it over you wonder if they're really you know it's going to come a point where they might sell because they co own it with the United artist is very unique in the annals of some of the family that owns property like yeah yeah I I realize that mark Altman nobody does it better is the name of the book and it is available now everywhere especially if you're a James Bond fan to Snoke's ready one thousand Katie okay for liquor stores in part of the metro good morning I'm Jacquelyn Scott in the cage you can use it.

"Right so what Michael wants to know is the one also about the sex scenes I mean I don't have any interest in that but that's not my I was telling me yeah tell me about the sexy yeah well it it's it's interesting because you know the in the bond movies they were very they were always very chaste yeah you know the the love the love scenes you know and it was actually really controversial in live and let die when you know basically in seventy three that your bond is the first time that bond went to bed with an African American woman right and and you know she she it's it's eight in the south sometime in South Africa they actually cut that scene of the movie which is that which is crazy I mean when you think about it's not that long ago but the rosy carver character yeah obviously was it was a great character it's so funny because you have a code played Mister big in that movie cananga yeah is is still hawk in the idea that they should bring back in anger that he didn't really die and live and let die when I talk to me couldn't stop talking make sure you put that in your book can I think I should come back you know it's like forty years later and of course you know live and let die is one of the if you buy movies actually film in Manhattan you know in fact the the the the the voodoo shop right on the upper you know on the Opry side I I you know well they they have a train station on the Lexington and there's that great scene where bond's being driven from the airport in the generated on the FDR the F. E. R. yeah absolutely which is which is which is fantastic in fact one of the actors in that scene and what is the that was a very famous mystery novelist who ended up writing a script for tomorrow never dies the got made but that that's a great see could you imagine you closing on the FDR and shooting that now had no way so what was the BCG what was the biggest thing you learned from interviewing everybody well you know I think I learned that you know everybody has a very different perspective on bond everybody sees it as a you know a very different way but I think when I when I realized that the bond movies were so smart and they were very Fassel if they ever got to bigger over the top you know like something like Moonraker were bongos the smoke you know goes into space they're very cagey about sort of re directing the franchise so then you have your for your eyes only which is an espionage film they always knew when they'd gone on as far as they could with something and then could sort of turn on a dime and and sort of re adjust with the times and yeah the bond movies even the bond doesn't change the bond movies do evolve with the times and I think that's why it sustained and continues to be a popular today because you know some of the best movies upon movies of all time you know whether it's Goldfinger for measure love but you know casino royale the new the new casino royale did is you know also ranks up there in that like pantheon of great bond movies so it's not a franchise it's gotten stale it keeps reinventing itself mark called and best of luck with the book thanks for a few minutes it's the nobody does it better out today is the complete uncensored on authorized oral history of James Bond sounds like a great read thanks mark thank you guys they for me on the show by Altman mark Altman right news time late in the third gosh just got one of him a proper introduction Joe Bartlett has the day off years normally with a new single morning land good morning Michael voters in New Hampshire lining up since six o'clock this morning they're casting their ballots taking pride in their special place in the primary process first in the nation primary we're all excited about that and so everyone coming in line to register to vote today it's a great experience were so lucky balls coming in today's show Bernie Sanders out in front with Pete booted judge running second mayor to Blasi says there should be consequences for the sergeants benevolent association he's upset after the union's president declared war on the mayor the union upset with the blouse you over the shooting of the NYPD cops in the Bronx over the weekend made a blouse you're taking some heat from some of his famous predecessors over its handling of crime in the city Rudy Giuliani says new Yorkers are begging him to come back to city hall I can't walk the streets Maria and this is not coming up to me and saying you got to run again you got to run again to government this guy's terrible I haven't actually for this first politician I know I haven't found one person to defend my of the body Giuliani going any server courses president trump's personal attorney man in a wheelchair hit killed by a car crossing street Long Island last night the man rolling across Waverly Avenue north Patchogue when he was hit by a pick up truck sixty two year old pronounced dead at a local hospital the driver did stay the same no word yet if he's going to face any charges cash reward being offered for bald eagle that's believed to have been stolen from a rehabilitation center in Ashford Connecticut Mary Beth Kayser horizon wings wrapped a rehabilitation so she's worried about what may have happened to that eagle there's a black market for them there's a black market for their their feathers and some people don't care how they get their money ten year old male bald eagle cannot fly because of a shoulder injury and the Mets have unveiled a new fifty seven million dollar club house at their minor league complex in port Saint Lucie but there's some controversy over it it will only be used by the major league team during spring training and all sit empty the rest of the year the St Lucie Mets will have to continue using another minor league clubhouse that's less extravagant the Mets defending the decision saying the new fifty seven million dollar club house should serve as a motivation for minor leaguers I'm just thinking I mean you could there was a time you could buy a baseball team for fifty seven million and yet now clubhouses sixty seven or eight hours spring training which only last you know a mother so or two months comma it seems a little nuts of the markets of opened on this Tuesday morning hours at sixty four I thank you know when we get back I ask you who said stripping is in a contact sport the poor pole dancers.

"Create a student group within our school system as a as a wreck violation of the equal access act. That's what the gist of this all is. It's being made out to be something. That's really not. And that is a statement. I find it interesting that you say, you did not send out a release, but there are at least kind of their release that we received here at Katie k radio does include that and and I'm going to read some of it. And you tell me if this was part of your statement or not we only have thirty seconds the, but the mckeesport area school district has maintained that a non curricular club must be student initiated rather than originated by dolts that includes but is not limited to take action on valley and Penn State, greater Allegheny, set part of your statement or no. Doesn't say anything about reaching any collusion. Well, the beginning of it. And I skipped over that. It says the school district is eager to announce the pending settlement. So but for the record there is no settlement at this point. No does pull working with UCLA youth to come up with a summary situation. Bill will allow it to come to an end. But at this point where ever reached a consensus. All right, Mark Altman superintendent mckeesport area school district. We're hoping you'll come back on the show. Once this whole thing has been resolved. Thanks for drafting addressing this confusion. We appreciate you like you. This is a story that it is going to be going and a little confused about where this release came from. But apparently, it is the what is in the release is exactly what the school district believes. Hey, see are you says net? No settlement school district says no settlement. We'll keep you posted. Its two o'clock Haiti KM AM HD, Katie k FM HD two. Pittsburgh radio dot com.

"I'd rather watch how sitter I'd rather watch the house and that's shit that will Ferrell piece of shit about how spore with the killer pizza yet better. Okay. Big. Momma's house. Three. Oh, now, like sun man of the house. Okay. You're being ridiculous arrest. Remember how Jamie Lee Curtis to that? Yeah, house bunny that is not a good movie. Rather watch it than either house of the dead and you're telling me there could be more. There was more they've made the sequel and call it something else. Yeah, part three. They had a script and Markle said it's a completely different approach to the material than the first two films. Well, you know how that three the video game was post-apocalyptic. Is that where they took it? No, no. But then what was said was, well, we're not going to call it house of the dead three because say is not releasing the new house of the dead games on home consoles. If there's no home console release, there's no tie in benefits, but in twenty six, very soon after this came the dean, Cain, starring movie dead and deader. Dumb and dumber. Zombie. Oh, he wanted to be funny. This guy wanted to make jokes. Yes, he went complete horror, comedy. It did premiere on scifi channel in December of, oh six. It's about us. Special forces squad investigated. A medical outpost in Cambodia k. and get attacked by zombies. I feel like I had a near death experience. We could have been up for another one of these. This sounds really close to being a house of the dead three movie. And there's a guy who is one of them turning into a zombie, and it was directed by a first time director and it had more Inge oaks. Like at one point, dean, Cain is trying to escape from a cooler and somebody says, Kate, you use your heat vision. Does. He was. They'll only be remembered as superman. Yes. What was the deciding factor? See Ellie Cornell was in that move is well, like if she would have played the same character would if we had to sit through this and who is she having sex with. Mark altman. I think he keeps doing it just to bring in Star Wars people because it had Armand Sherman who played quirk in deep space to nine. Well, we joke about what could have been, but it still could be. I do know that even as of two years ago, there has been talk about rebooting franchise. Even picking up the story strands with Jonathan Sherry Rudy from the original film wants to come back and do it since he didn't get the chance to do it in house of the dead two. I saw that on IMDB that it was rumored that he would be in house of the dead three. But what I'm hearing more and these rumors are two years old that they're going to reboot house of the dead. Yes, there is interest. There's that new game, and you know what? If they made a movie based off of that last house of the dead game overkill, if they made house of the dead overkill the movie now playing or no, I would be in theaters for that if they stick to that kind of feel and give it a little more money than they gave the second one, you don't. Feel like the zombie genres like on its last legs for now. I think its shambling, but I think it could get set up again. I mean, it just takes the right movie to reinvigorate and really zombies. And we talked about this with land of the dead. They're really a metaphor for the times, and I feel that after nine eleven, the Zambia films were ready to come back. They really came back hard at a time when American audiences were ready to look at teeming hordes of mindless people going again and to really discuss political situations and where we are right now with the world. I think that there are allegories Zambia movies could make, I certainly wouldn't ride off a whole genre based on this film. I've gotta take a break. I'm glad there's no house the dead. Three. I'm glad we're going to the movie theater even though I'm not exactly sure if I'm going to like venom, it's better than either. Movie. We've reviewed the past two weeks. I'll say that it's better than either house of the dead..

"And did you guys see the big blade trinity? Babes thing on the wall, there was a magazine cover about Jessica Biel and Parker Posey. I did notice that that whole room felt very set PC. I mean, there was some McFarlane sports picks figures along the wall and some action figures on the show. But yeah, I was I was having more fun picking details out of the background and watching what was happening on screen. This was a girl's room. I was confused by that. What's the significance when I saw the movie? I thought it was saying, hey, we're talking about horror movie babes and we've had nothing but babes in this film, most of whom have shown you their nipples either through a shirt or not. But it turns out the writer we've been talking about who did this. Mark Altman, his production company owns fem fatale magazine who also does the cinema Fantastique magazine. Now I don't think either of them are printed anymore because print really died hard in the past ten years. But back when they made this movie, it was a way for him to get a horror enjoy reference and promote his own magazine. But the guarantor you like Rodriguez ultimately Heroux moment is to tell Bart where not going to take the blood samples to big pharma. He thinks he can make money out of it, Robin, Leach money out of it. I don't know if people know that reference, but she is saying, no, they chain him to a radiator and then she gets killed. The marines go out way too easily here. And in the end, none of them really matter. They are here so that we can elongate this story, quote, unquote on a plus. It feels like a video game. What is my mission? My mission is to go in find zombie zero. Zero, retrieve the vile and escape. That is totally a video game level setup. And when playing video game, as Justin will attest, it's really more important that you're having fun getting there and that the game is fun than the just the cut scenes are fun. But in the converse of that when you're watching a movie and not holding the controller, having such a threadbare plot just as an excuse so that you could have the marines shooting a bunch of Zambia's all over campus does not entertain very well. And that's all they're here to do is to give us action scenes on the football field or. Yeah, in the college dorm and the library, endless hallways, broom after room. You're right. There's not much going on here except for watching these guys get picked off one by one, but they are following zombie rules. I do see case in point. They get to the library and they're like, zombies. Don't read the guy in the. Corner there. That's hovering over a book he must be survivor. Well, the fact is zombies do what they did when they were alive. He was a nerd in life. Zombie nerds are going to still go to the library and read and zombie libraries are still going to shush. They took that from dawn of the dead and that whole mall culture, they're showing more respect for Ramiro in house of the dead to then house of the dead wanted..

"And I did not like that movie, but he went to Japan and showed Sega executives free enterprise and they said, we trust you to do a good movie with us property so you can have house of the dead. Maybe you didn't like free enterprise, but it's a legit movie. It's not like this movie. You would think that anyone that made this movie was clown was someone that had never worked and never would work again except for ova bull. Surprise. Number two is no Mark Altman has a career to this day. He's producing shows for Turner network. The librarians I think is most popular, but it took the scar Nagai from ER. He's like a vendor librarian. His name's Noah wyle and he's a pretty big star. But anyway, my point is this is an amateur hour. This guy wrote this script and he wrote and got paid for it. Again, he's no fool and Altman wanted to fix this movie. He was arguing that re-shoots needed to happen. Certain scenes had terrible performances, the scenes that didn't match. He wanted to reshoot, but he said he doesn't know who made the decision. But the motto was, we don't reshoot so we get what we get to me. This is the house of the dead movie. You should just be doing nothing but shooting shoot re-shoot, whatever you have to shooter. It sounds to me when I look at the suspects involved with this film Altman is more or less not to blame, I will not put him in movie jail. He's no relation to Robert Altman. I would hope no. Not that I know of. Yeah, it seems like he went into this with the best of intentions and he did the second commentary track for this disc. It was completely him and he knew and I'll just put this up front. I feel a little bit bad with the beating. We will give this movie because it's not his script. Yeah, his script was written and apparently all the pages of setup were ripped out and replaced with that voice over at the beginning. Yes. And all his dialogue was ripped out and vote told them just ad-lib the middle of the movie, and then their end of the film didn't get shot. And then a lot of the film that was shot according to Altman ova had a style, which all right. Allman did say some funny things he's like Hoover is like Michael bay in that they both shoot with two or three cameras at once at they just get the coverage all at once instead. Doing a master shod and the close up shots, and then just keeps moving on and sets up the next shot. And the cameraman didn't like it because of the lighting. And we had to throw out several scenes because the continuity just didn't match. So certain plot, elements that were described and filmed, they just couldn't even use because it was so out of sinking color and everything. And so why did they go with him? Because again, Sega gives them the rights. He's a screenwriter, not yet a director. He feels like he needs to get someone established a bring this vision to life. Yes, who've Abol has made about half a dozen films at this point, none of which are respected, none of which have been commercially released in America. He's not getting a kickback from Sega. So what on earth could they have seen in him to say, this is our guy? Did he just worked for cheap. I think cheap was part of it. One other thing I wanna say is according to Wicky the budget of this move..

"Is NewsRadio one thousand Katie okay Oklahoma's place, to talk Oklahoma's first news NewsRadio one thousand k. t. okay last, time we had this guy on he. Had just finished a masterful complete work on Star Trek the TV show and the, movie series this time he turns his attention to battle star galactica and it's called so say we all the. Complete, uncensored unauthorized history. Of battle star galactica Mark Altman how well I, remember that TV show yeah I'll tell you I. Think that here we are forty, years later, and it's something that people still remember really fondly and, I think that's why we, you know, after we did Star Trek and Buffy with slayers vampires it was kind of like you know is there another story to tell where the story hasn't, been well told that you know people actually care about, and it immediately dawned on us that you know galactica would be celebrating his. Anniversary and I it's such a fascinating story, because the, two shows could not, be more different and yet they're. Both wonderful and their own you. Know. Have their own distinct Measures so you know for us that was no brainer to revisit battle star galactica new book so say we all would there have, been a galactica without Star Wars because I know it, hit ABC right after the Star Wars craze that's a great question I mean. You know Mark Hamill jokes that galactica should, have been, called battle star copycat You know we was sued by FOX and Lucasfilm, for infringing on the Star Wars copyrights but you. Know I think we talked about this in the book star way yes it made it possible to do the. Show on television and certainly encouraged ABC to program a. Big epic space opera but if you. Look at the, show it's really a western, and it's a story about family and I it's not a Star Wars rip off. At all, even though John Dykstra who. Did the effects for Star Wars was involved in Ralph, mcquarry. Designed all the spaceships so there are elements that are redolent of Star Wars galactic is definitely its. Own unique show and, of course that concept of these. Aliens the survivors of an interstellar. Genocide who are, trying to find earth as a sanctuary you know he's such a novel. Concept it's it's really unique in the annals of science fiction television so I tend to to to to not subscribe to the whole idea. To Star Wars rip. Off and, if it, is it's a lot more than that Mark Altman is with us He's. The co author of soci- we all, the complete uncensored on authorized oral history a battle star galactica I'm, glad you mentioned that it is kind of a. Space western and I guess that's why Lorne Greene was so comfortable in the role yeah he couldn't have been. More comfortable you know I mean here we have the. Starve bonanza playing another patriarch of another. Family and there's, a great story someone tells, them to book where these kids come up to him at a dodger game for. His autograph, and he looks at them. And he goes bonanza and the kids shake their head, now. Because oh well balanced our galactica right and he goes the shake their heads no and he goes. Well what do you, want my autograph for and they. Go out though you know Wanted him. Because, he was the, face, of Alpo dog food so that that's? Gotta be gotta crush your, man Vigo If he were still alive I'd want his autograph because of his hit single Ringo which nobody remembers I absolutely and you know Lauren green I think that show a lot of gravitas you know he brought. A lot, and what was wonderful and talking to the cast is. How much, they truly loved him you know a lot of times the stars of these iconic series you know you start, to? Talk. To people and they're saying, all these awful things and it sort of destroys your, childhood right yeah Lorne Greene to a fault everyone, just said, that he was such a sweet and wonderful man who really was everything you'd want number one on the call. Sheet to, be that's always read that about him he I think. He and, I think that's because of his old school Hollywood upbringing he knew it was the business he knew it was, show? Business Because he. Was an old school radio man. You know well that too yeah I mean you know that's true he. Started. A. News broadcast on the radio in in Canada invented the backwards clock yeah, yeah the backward running stop watch which for. Those of us in the business we all know we, have to back time you need to know how much time you have left not what's what's moving forward in the time that we have left Mark Altman a? Little about the reboot, about all star galactica was that disappointing to some fans I. Think, you know he went through the same evolution that a Star Trek yet ironically. We're when they announced, the next generation fan said without Kirk Spock and McCoy you don't have me and it took a. While for certain original. Series fans to warm up to the new Star. Trek and, eventually they did I think it was the same thing with galactic I mean you had people like. Richard hatch who'd been who were very anti the remake or the reimagined nation and eventually many, of them did warm up today because they realized it was, a different show and it was great in its own on its, own, merits but? It, was very. Diff Much darker much edgier it was much more product. Of. Its. Time and completely different than the original show but I think to this, day there still are some galactica fans that. You know having embraced it and they just can't get, past the memories of of of their childhood or but you know I personally must huge fan of both I think they both have marriage I think that you? Can enjoy both in, this whole idea of pitting shows against each other and the. Gladiatorial, arena you know I it doesn't serve them well I mean I'm just happy. That both exists to, be honest and we're talking to Mark Altman who has written so say we all the complete uncensored. On authorized oral history. Of battle star galactica on NewsRadio one thousand Katie. Okay and, Mark getting back to the comparisons with Star Wars I I often look back on Star Wars and. Movies of that period and TV shows of that period realizing they didn't have digital effects that, didn't have CGI were some of the effects used on the, small screen version of battle Star galactica borrowed. From. Lucasfilm's well you know that's a really good question because. I'll, tell you something when they hired John Dykstra who just come off his Star Wars revolutionized visual effects. And now here was a guy who using a lot of the same literally the same equipment to create the visual effects for Glaxy guy and now when you talk to him. And Richard, edlund they actually feel. That some of their effects work, on galactica was better than what, they did on Star. Wars because they set a learned star was was the cutting, edge by the time they got the galactica they took the lessons of Star Wars and applied it to galactica and it's true I. Mean there is, no CG so a lot of. People say, oh my God by episode sixteen it's all stock footage it's all stuff we've already seen of the ships blowing up but that's. Because it was so time consuming to create using miniatures and and and and optical composite ING motion capture. Do these, effects but I mean some of those miniatures are gorgeous. I mean I, don't think there's a better looking ship other than, the starship enterprise in the, battle star galactica in the nineteen seventy eight here's in that at. The, time cost, fifty thousand dollars that miniature the shows were million dollars an episode I mean there was a lot of man being lavished, on it and. In fact we talk a lot about the influence Star Wars not only in the book but we do podcast called the fourth Thirty movie. And it, talks about what you said the impact of Star Wars on shows.
