Raiders Concerned Marcus Mariota, Yannick Ngakoue May Have Suffered Long-Term Injuries
"Yeah then the raiders. On monday night had a huge win but they lose denzel good. Acl he's out for the air. And then john gruden in gakugei. Marcus mariota and jerry mccoy may have long-term injuries. We haven't heard the extent of it yet. I'll just brutal. For the raiders but man. What an epa
Did Washington Do Enough to Push Dallas in the NFC?
"Did washington football teams teamers and the giants do enough to push dallas in the nfc. So i left philly out. I don't yeah. I just don't i am found anyone who really thinks they're going to be competitive. I mean let's wait and see got jalen whatever. But that's a team that they're not really fun to talk about. Because their free agency considered like stripping you know but i mean they did sign at harris for like nothing which is probably better sightings but what you have in jalen also you serianni. Yes hundred percent but washington in york both very active and did interesting. Things i think are worth discussing because dallas after the dak prescott deal was finally done. They've kind of made a few moves around the margins adding kia neil. Getting tied as kind of swing. Tackle still have question marks at adra sure and coroner but washington like i think they might have had my favorite free agency or at least the one that i'm most excited to see. I don't know payoff on the field. So just to recap. They signed the aforementioned ryan fitzpatrick one year. Ten million dollars. They tag branch eff. Who's there Pro bowler guard. They signed william jackson from the bengals. Cornerback three years. Forty two million dollars and then added panthers wide receiver. Curtis samuel for three years thirty four point five million dollars so just starting like let's start here. Do you agree with me like do you. Do you like what they did. And do you think it makes them an actual competitor in the division. A really like what. Washington did You know. I think among the guys among the quarterback that they could get because not only were they never in it for russell wilson or or wherever really going to be competitive for shawn watson You had to start looking okay. We'll what's realistic. And it's the ryan fitzpatrick coming off his best his career. It's an andy dalton and whereas that really gonna lead you I think that there was a lot of interest in marcus. Mariota he still is not able to sign with another team because the raiders are still holding him hostage But so. I like the quarterback. Move because you're essentially saying let's build up the team the and let's have the strongest team possible around the quarterback position where we don't sell out just because we have to for that position free agency. Maybe they make a move at the draft for a guy that they have their eye on. Or maybe they just say let's. Let's keep the boat floating this year and let's make our move Next free agency. So i thought that they probably overpaid by million or two on curtis samuel. But they wanted him And and ron rivera really likes them. Obviously william jackson an incredible deal You look around and you need another pass rusher and they can they can probably keep ryan kerrigan as a third down specialist if he comes down off his number end so you know he's he's still doing that. He's gonna get paid a whole lot of money. I'm not sure that that money is really out there especially at this point in free agency so they didn't want to mortgage their future for for quarterback right. Now they wanted to keep the boat afloat. I that and so. I like what they have done. Specially on evens. Then when you consider the the sort of offense and the pre-snap that they can have with all those offensive playmakers. Now that curtis annuals there with terry corn. I really like with done.

"Days this winter. It hasn't been a harsh winter by any stretch of the imagination in terms of the total amount of snow. But we've had several of those wintry mix days over the last the last month. Maybe and it looks like A couple more of them coming this week so there you go or maybe not because they have been wrong. You know you love doug camera. Dialup doug sue palca. They're all great. They have had a difficult year. Forecasting they just how evaluating taylor hynick have sounded the alarm bell like a couple of days in advance for some of these these Winter events and they just have not lived up to the billing now they actually. I think get a much more. I think they. They get a harder time from their their viewers when they don't forecast a big storm. And then you get one that. That is a worse i think. A worst case scenario for them is not forecasting and getting it rather than forecasting it and not getting it although i hate when they get the latter wrong and fine when they get the you know get together with his. I'm rooting for more winter weather. All right we're done for the day We will have Cooley back later in the week. And who knows. I'm sure maybe a trade at that point where some sort of movement on the quarterback front which in some of you said to me what about you know. What are they going to do at left. Tackle what there's going to be plenty of time to talk about that if you don't understand that the quarterback carousel in the nfl and by the way washington's potential involvement in that isn't the number one story of this off season in the nfl. You're not paying attention. It's the number one story in probably ten. Nfl cities minimum right now and it is in ours as well all right Back tomorrow with tommy..

"Would make any kind of trade for mariota i i'm with you. I'm this is weird for me. Because i've never really loved mary oda same as you but i do see some fit. I'm how for some reason that seems to make sense. I don't wanna give away a second if i don't have to. It's not that by the way it's not. I've never loved him. But there's always been something intriguing about his game to me. You know especially as you described in the right fit like there are much worse quarterbacks. You could go put out there on opening day next year. I mean the day before the tampa game we would have said you could have been tailored heineke. You'd be putting out there. Stephen montana because he was reading that boat. When when sir mariota not that you can get landslides okay. Well here's the difference. Though i got. It's really sit down with wednesday. I gotta really start to understand what this guy is what he is. He's griffin the fifth right. What if he is. What if he's just completely uncomfortable. Self absorbed and that i don't want him i know and by the way ron won't either. They'll know that this is this. Group will do the due diligence to find out about somebody's character. Unlike the previous twenty years right and so if that's it was with wentz that'll hurt him across the board. That'll hurt the trade for wentz across the board car car. Mariota easy free car. Yeah well jon. Gruden made the same decision kev. I know justin fields trading up for or mariota. Where's justin fields going to go up. Top top six or seven. Let's just say you could. You could make a move with detroit to get to seven. But you gotta give a first and third to swap into the andy reid deal with buffalo. You're giving up this year's first third which is not going to. You're giving up. Next year's i this year's third you can move on palsy butts to your swapping first and then you're giving up next year's i and this year's third to move up twelve spots i honestly i can't answer that question i. I haven't watched fields fields as the guy then yes. I would absolutely do that if if he's if you believe that he's the guy if you go back and you watch whatever. He played whatever seven games this year. And you said look. This is the guy he's got then. Yes i would absolutely do that. This is this is the assignment for you. Not that you weren't going to it as an assignment anyway. But you have a much better sense. Obviously of the pro guys we need. We need your sense of college guys so that they can make a decision here because they have to. They have to know pretty much here in the next couple of weeks whether or not quarterback of their future is gettable in this draft right. I mean that's what they need to know if if it's not at nineteen or remove up and they really feel like they have to upgrade and they're going to have to make a move. I think one of the things from all of these stories about washington offering for stafford washington being interested in golf washington expressing interest in car and mariota. The one thing that the one takeaway more than any other is that rivera and mayhew and herni are trying to upgrade at quarterback. So for those of you out there and there are many of you. And i not being a critical here. Because i don't know if you're right or wrong i don't have the answer and taylor heineke or kyle alan taylor haneke's more the guy for many of you but they aren't anywhere near as confident as some of you about what they currently have. That's what this off season. So far says they. They they got aggressive going for stafford they. They were according to reports interested in goth car. And now even mariota if lombardi's right and by the way lombardi's been wrong a lot when it's come to the washington football team. He's been right on some occasions as well So let me like they. The two guys they love to backup at in for their team right. Did they feel great about both of those guys being their backup quarterback but they need their starter. But i would also suggest to you that the the aren't going to be devastated if they come back with the two of them competing for the starting job and perhaps they still are thinking about alex Let's get to him Next because there was a report about alex. Smith's intentions for next year from jeremy fowler. pin. We'll get to that right after this word from one of our sponsors growing up cereal was one of the best parts about being a kid. I was a huge cereal eater. I still am actually as an adult. I love cereal. I have been trying to cut down recently on carb sugar unhealthy food which basically means. You can't eat anything anymore With the new year however with everybody trying to eat better. I have a suggestion. Healthy breakfast doesn't have to be boring. Magic spoon has the amazing flavors. You'll love but without all the bad stuff. Magic spoon has released a brand new variety. Pack now featuring peanut butter. They release peanut. Butter is a limited edition flavor in twenty twenty and it sold out three times. The Patriots Quarterback Carousel
"To talk with the quarterback Carousel though. The latest Derek card may be on the trading block maybe on the market. Maybe not on the market. But what are your feelings? I think we're both in agreement that the starting price of two first-round picks is absolutely insane, but just in terms of him as a player. Where are you on Derek Carr? Yeah. I I think that all just start first with the overarching, you know, I think you're going to see a lot of teams put borderline quarterbacks on the market right now. I think you'll see what Jimmy Garoppolo I think you might see with Kirk Cousins those sorts of situations. It's just because teams saw the return for Matthew Stafford and they're thinking when I want some of that right? It's like what's going on in stock market gets hot. So everybody wants in on it. I don't know how like not every quarterback that gets put on the trade block in the next month is going to be traded and I think cars the first of a handful so I'm not going to like over-hyped that as four cars a player. I mean a nice piece, you know, I I'm not overly excited. You're right. The two first-round picks is too much where I look at this in relation to the Patriots we talked about this on Tuesday is 4 a.m. To get a guy like Jimmy Garoppolo there has to be a trickle-down effect, right? So maybe San Francisco likes car and then they get car and then should be dropping becomes available something like that, but I'm not you know going to do jumping jacks and say the offseason is saved because the Raiders are thinking about trading car, right and I think the biggest thing with these asking price is is that it's nice to ask for two first-round picks your job. Actually get two first-round picks for Derek Carr and even old PlayStation. I can ask you for $500 for it doesn't mean it's going to happen. Right and the other days you want to I mean the offer stands but no no, I'm good. But then the other thing is is that you have a trickle-down effect that you mentioned of the Raiders are not out there actively seeking a trade for Derrick Car unless they can upgrade at the quarterback position themselves. So maybe they feel and I think the report that was out there was that they were going to try to take whatever they get from Derek Carr and package their own pics together to make a move for Deshaun Watson, but if they don't feel like that other shoe was going to drop that you don't just trade Derrick Cartwright. Nothing left, you know with leave yourself empty-handed and now they do but actually it's interesting. You said that cuz you're a big Marcus Mariota guy. I never thought he obviously had his moments. You don't think they trade Derrick car for you know, if you can get to First for Derek Carr if you think Mariota is only a marginal decrease in those two first-round picks will help you out. More than that gap between card Mariota like you don't think they might look to just do that. I wouldn't but you being as high as Mariota on as high on Marietta as you are I'm a little interested that you're not going to flirt with that possibility as well. I would if you have a team comes in and offers the Raiders a Godfather offer for Derek Carr and they do offer multiple first or multiple Hai pics then maybe you could talk yourself in terms of replacing car and like you said, it's not that big of a drop off from one to the other and and you can have that conversation. But I think with Mariota in card me to me, it looks a lot like what Mario dealt with with Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee a few years ago where Mariota because of his pedigree because of his history with the club was the starter to start the season. It didn't go. Well they make the switch to Red Hill and the following offseason is when they decide to move on from Marcus Mariota, so I actually feel like the Raiders and and the Patriots, you know as a domino effect, or maybe one year too early on this dead. Our conversation may be we're having this conversation next to offseason when Marcus Mariota unseats Derek Carr has the starter and if if not, when if okay fair enough. Marcus Mariota unseat Sarah car,

"Good morning, Shane. Hey, Good morning Kiss. Hide them Good. What's up? I won't be much of a home or anything, but I think you missed the tape on Mars, Marcus Mariota. You know, Marcus marry OTA and boy did he play? Well? The other night was I impressed with him, Right? How about that? I thought he played great. And he played with great heart. You know which I thought was. You know when you're in that situation, and you're in the game, the way he was, and Not expecting to play. You know, he left his heart on the field. And when a pro player does that, I'm always really impressed. Yeah, I guess you could say that about Marcus. Mario did to some degree, but I don't like Marcus. Mario did to me. He did not have the president. The presence Trevor Laurence has no agreed. Agreed that you guys He hasn't really excelled. Maybe the way that people thought he was going to in the NFL, but I think electrifying he was in college. Oh, no question, And there's a lot of guys, um, that were elected. I mean, look at Lamar Jackson, who ended up going 32nd last pick in the first round. I don't remember very many. More electrifying. In college than Lemar Jackson s O That often doesn't translate, although we all admit In watching football that the college game has Influence the pro game or at this time in our lives than in any previous time because the pro game has gone much more run pass option. And it has gone much more into the flat with quarterbacks who can make plays with their feet, even if they're not running quarterbacks now, Lamar Jackson is so he's not the example. But Guys that can make plays with their feet. And every once in a while, make a play out of nothing, even if it's twice again. Are really critical now, you know, And that's why in watching Herbert last week, and I have to admit because I've been on the air every day recently. I have watched so much football. I all I do is watch football. I find myself You know, just completely locked into football. I saw everything this weekend that there was to see from Thursday night on. So watching Herbert, Um Just don't know that he has the foot speed or the Ability to extend plays for today's his his releases. So Peyton Manning like that he can get away with it, and his accuracy has improved a lot already in the years since college so he may be able to be the exception. But that style quarterback which used to be the style quarterback is now taking a sort of a back seat to the, um more mobile more. I'll take what I can get quarterback. Andre. Those guys are proving invaluable. And you know, we're so Jalen hurts yesterday in a loss really open some people's eyes about his potential future playing in this league the way he with his style of play..
Raiders lose QB Carr, fall in overtime to Chargers, Herbert
"And chargers from last night chargers rookie justin herbert having himself a seasoning looked. Great again is quarterback sneak in overtime helped. The chargers win the raiders however their woes continued they lost derek carr early on replaced by marcus. Mariota was nice to see him in there. You look good look. Good enough raiders. Lose again it's four of five now in the loss column for them with their playoff hopes. All but dead coach. Genie is joining the conversation this morning. Good coach good morning but nick. I want to start with you. This raiders started six and three. They your chiefs. They were rolling what happened. How did this team fall apart. One second just very quickly. I'm happy for marcus. mariota chance. I thought he played well. I in came. Maybe gets an opportunity to compete for a starting quarterback job. It's always conducted himself well in this league and obviously didn't work out in tennessee. So i'm happy for him. Now to the raiders. Nobody likes somebody to say. I told you so. But i told you so. Everyone's like oh nick right and such a hater oh after they lost to the chiefs game on dvd. And everyone. everyone's congratulating the raiders though. They're dangerous they're scary. Oh they've given the chiefs try. They beat them once second done. And what i tell you. They're going to be the best team to miss. The i might be wrong about that. Not even sure. They're better than the vikings so they're going to be one of the best teams to miss the playoffs coach. They have a fancy new stadium in vegas. They haven't read. What fans there next year when fanshawe do you think they'll have one banner for beating the chiefs or two banners for beating the chiefs and almost beating the chiefs a second time as those are the two best moments of the gruden era. I'm not sure because this team has been terrible. Since they played the chiefs the second time some would say the chiefs still their soul. I don't know. I wouldn't go that far but i know their defense stinks their quarterback. Okay and jon. Gruden falls apart in the second half a season. These are things i know. And some of sought coming other people thought. Irina haters happened to the raiders. And do i take joy in the raiders failures. Yeah i do actually quite a bit. Where's that victory now. how about that. Where's your victory lap. Now remember that moment of arrowhead that your

Jaguars ship Nick Foles to Bears, one year after signing him to $88m deal
"Radio Brady of course not the only quarterback who's on the move this week Evers teddy Bridgewater Marcus Mariota and now Nick Foles balls is heading to Chicago the bears pulling off a trade with Jacksonville Chicago gives up a compensatory fourth round pick in return for getting Nick Foles so what happens now in Chicago here's our Mike Tannenbaum and feel gates there's a restart because in in our last show we had a debate about whether we think this is Nick Foles job immediately or whether we think this is competition to pursue the starting job and he admits will battle it out during offseason workouts if we have them and then eventually during training camp if that goes on as scheduled I look at it like this the bears were settling if they stuck surface did that with Mitch Trubisky yep the rosters to well fortified in too many spots and there were too many obvious concerns and trade you're right right pace may forever have to live with the idea that he took Mitch Trubisky ten slots ahead of Patrick Mahomes and deshaun Watson we get and traded up one of the first round pick to move up one slot to get him really I'm just gonna put but it's over it's done with that I've been two thousand and seventeen fun ways to win football games and salvage I mean it and we talk about this during lunch again the like you know Matt Ryan pays to be feeling the heat a little bit right now right he knows he's got to win this year and this division is not a cake walk you've got a good Vikings team made the playoffs last year an actual Packers team within its energy efficient game last year this is not an all in move but this is a movie you have to make to put yourself back in the mix to be competitive and allow yourself to playing January football Soldier Field again they had to make so I had to make a move etrade you said what is it on the play calling which basically was a three year starter they had one winning season when I was at the Dauphin two years ago were playing against him we want him to throw the ball down the field to the left he couldn't do that he he was thirtieth in the league in average yards per attempt that's a critical statistic that compresses the field and the other thing about Ryan pace the fields point which is your locker room keeps your general manager there is a check and balance they have a championship defense to Ryan pace's credit he could walk into that locker so he felt we could go win with Mitch Trubisky after we have three years of a sample set now you walk and say Hey this guy's won a Super Bowl we have a real chance now it injects energy into that whole program it also has three years left on the contract with twenty one million guaranteed the falls also has the ability now to avoid the deal after either of the first two years in Chicago depending on his

"To compete with Derek Carr for the starting job now do I get the sense that you're going to see Mariota we want as the raiders starting quarterback probably not your car will still have that job but in many ways Marcus Mariota we'll go to the raiders and be in the exact same position he was saying or that you know all right was in when he was in Tennessee last year the Titans than Mariota's they signed Ryan Tannehill five six seven games a year Mariota bench Pat hill in town hell sported demand out going on this great run all the readers going to go on that sort of wrong with Marcus Mariota I have no idea I would probably put my money on me all I would be very very surprised if I'm sitting here championship Sunday god willing for twenty twenty one and Marcus Mariota is leading in the Oakland or Vegas whatever they all raiders into an AFC title game I would not expect that to be the case but it looks like the raiders are going in a direction where they say you know what we're not going to be a player for the guy we really wanted and make no mistake the raiders would a whole wall of the opportunity or Tom Brady entity because they're working to make a splash there we're gonna make news they will get a call as headlines Brady going anywhere as we know is going to do exactly that I'll be the raiders are going to make a play on Marcus Mariota if they are under the illusion that Tom Brady could become a doctor I think they know already Brady is out on the raiders but if you're there a car Hey this you better be writing in Vegas you better not be buying in Vegas because I don't think you along for the raiders and we saw last year the relationship at times being rather combative in rather testy between Jon Gruden and Derek caught that's the way it works with a lot of Jon Gruden's quarterbacks you know Jon Gruden could be demanding jogger and always loves a quarterback he does not have he and I saw this video earlier today when I was watching old highlights of basically awak Singh poetic on Marcus Mariota well now he will get his chance to coach Marcus Mariota and I would put some money down on the fact that he will start a couple of games in the twenty twenty campaign the older quarterback news aside from Brady and waiting on rivers in some of the other dominoes to fall in NFL free agency the other quarterback news came from the Chicago Bears and what the Chicago bears could be looking to do in competition for Mitchell Trubisky we're all going to agree on this Trubisky was an abomination for a good majority of last year Trubisky will always be a guy that is incredibly unpopular in that town because fair on fair he was a part of a quarterback class that features two of the best quarterbacks hands down all football the twenty seventeen quarterback class features Patrick Mahomes number one player number one quarterback in only it features deshaun Watson a guy who probably also so ticked off that the Andre Hopkins got traded to the Arizona Cardinals bullet a guy who has performed as delivered to use had some big moments on the grand stage already in college and in the NFL you treat all you give up what the bears gave vault and you pass on those two guys and you end up with Trubisky for the general manager Ryan pace it is never going to age well for the fans Chicago it's a decision that myopic will forever live in infamy in fact fleas you'll like this well the G. Aaron Kalanick trade with the Mets come close to what Ryan pace ended up doing in Chicago I'm going to say no because the quarterback position is that much more important than just an everyday you know I'll feel spot as good as Kalanick may be as bad a trade is that may be I don't think it can live up to passing up on the homes and wants to know because the kind of impact that a position player could have been baseball relative to the entire team I mean the quarterback is the most important position in sports and he passed on one guy who is now a Super Bowl champion and MVP and another guy who is a top ten top five top them wherever you want to put a quarterback in the league the kind of immediate impact that either Watson or Mahomes would have had on the bears especially look at two seasons ago when they're in the post season last year when there's still a decent team and their biggest weakness is without a doubt their quarterback play there is just so much more of an impact at the quarterback and haven't well I mean there's no way that if Watson or Mahomes if those one of those guys the bears quarterback right now we're talking about them is a perennial contender and what can they do what's their final piece to become a Super Bowl contender if they had already gotten there already with the defense they had two years ago instead we talking about competition for Mitchell Trubisky and what I can see going to Chicago for a couple of reasons one I'll be the bears gonna look to get big money that's for starters two I would be teddy Bridgewater's game and the lack of restraint that is.

Tua Tagovailoa's Recovery Shakes Up the NFL Draft
"Time last year to ten goodbye. Loa was the consensus number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft but when a devastating hip injury in November ended his season at Alabama his NFL future was cast into doubt now with new reports. That too is recovery is on track. Teams are debating whether his elite talent is worth the risk and the entire draft. Looks like mystery? I mean at times? It's Tuesday February. Eighteenth this is espn daily presented by ADT. Todd Todd mcshay is an NFL draft in college football analyst for ESPN so todd. The last time we saw Tunga Velo on a football field. He was getting started off with a hip injury and it ended his season and Alabama title hopes along with it. News broke last week regarding the status of his recovery. What we know now well first of all I was there that day and it was brutal to watch behind. He's down to us. Down Helmet came off. This is exactly what you did not want to see happen and I was probably ten. Maybe twenty yards away from him as the to. Mississippi state defenders converged on him. And you could just tell right away. Something was wrong but then I saw the bloody nose at first and they said the trainers got. The plastic wraps in there has the gloves on their hands and and I just thought all right. They're they're just taking care of his nose and he'll be done for the day and then he went to stand up and you could tell just how deep his knee drove his leg into his hip that something was seriously wrong so it's good to hear that he has passed his first test. If you will sources confirm to ESPN at the most recent tests show is healing well and has good range of motion to what could get back to football activities in a month if he continues to progress well and is now moving onto the second phase of of the Rehab and recovery stage. There's still a lot left to determine and there's still a lot of rehab to go so that's going to be the biggest thing in terms of his evaluation between now and late. April's draft is where is he? And what are the doctors really? Think about the long-term WanNa talk to you about his injury and the draft. And you know the time line for all of that but I I wanNA talk to you. About what a good football player he is because prior to that injury he was the base star in college football. And you've been watching him for a long time wind it I strike you. This guy's got this stuff how `bout that throw in the national championship talk. He had never started a game and now he's in the National Championship with the game on the line he was coming off of a bad play was able to shake it off. He's keeping his is down the middle of the field and he's working that safety just a little bit to the right. He's trying to move the safety as much as he can because if he does. He knows that he has Smith's breaking down the sidelines. The is move the safety just enough for him to go back to Smith and make the throw of the year. I mean he just knew the spot that he had to get it to and to come in the second half and to have the confidence to lead Alabama to a victory. That kind of told me everything about him. And from that point he kept developing. But if you go back and just really study his tape the things that make him special his deep accuracy is as good as you're gonNA say he's so quick twitch he's like a drew brees from the left handed side you know just how how works in the pocket and goes from one read to the next but keeps his is married to his feet. He fits what you want in today's NFL. But is he going to be healthy enough to with that hip recovery to to have that quick twitch nece and and the ability to to move as quickly as he has tie? You're around these players but also these programs. What did you hear about how to? Oh was handling the injury in his rehab process. Everyone loves him. There's a calmness and a poise about him that you rarely see with with college quarterbacks or any college player so. I'd like to leave you with this from one of my favorites McGraw songs. When you get where you're going don't forget turn back around and have the next one in line. Always stay humble and kind so confident but so humble talking. Nfl SCOUTS IN GM's not a negative word about him. He's a special human being and wherever he winds up going. He's going to be the face of the franchise obviously but he's kind of a culture changer if you will and and. I think that's part of the draw in part of his value. It's not just this injury right. He's had other injuries that have caused him to miss time. He broke a finger sprained. A knee injured his quad. The ankles even before all of this. How much of a concern with that? It's a big. It really is a big concern and the problem is if you study the history of it if you look back. I think it's the last ten years or seven quarterbacks that had college injuries there were first round draft picks that all of them have had some varying kind of durability issues in the NFL from Rg. Three to SAM. Bradford Shawn Watson Marcus Mariota Carson wentz Teddy Bridgewater Jake Locker. All of these guys have gone on to have injuries now. They're not always the same injuries. Some guys are are just injury-prone and just knowing. Nfl teams in the amount of time and the amount of studies that they do. Especially at this position. Especially with first round picks. That are going to cost you. When you're talking about quarterbacks in the top ten twenty to thirty five million dollars in guaranteed money they're doing the research on this and they all know this. You know your job over the course of these college football seasons you're not just evaluating these players you're thinking about where they'll be drafted if to ahead gun her at that point in the season where do you think he would have gone. I think he would be the first overall pick. I think if two was healthy Cincinnati would be taking to a number one overall. I really do if he didn't suffer that injury. We would be having a great debate between two a ton of Iowa and Joe Borough but ultimately my guess is that too would probably be the decision at Number One and knowing Cincinnati. They'd probably they do something to maybe move out of that spot. Make a mistake and let Miami or the chargers Carolina come up and get that pick. If I'm being honest he's he's better than Joe Borough and I love Jober but if you tell me these two guys are going to have ten year careers with no injuries. I'm taking two but then I've got a measure. R Joe Borough has been durable. Jost has shown the ability to kind of fight through pain a little bit more and to stay healthy and so. That's really the deciding factor. In my opinion I have to ask you know. Why do you think he's better than borough? I mean rose coming off of arguably the greatest season we've ever seen by college quarterback. What is it about two as game that you prefer? If I knew he was going to be healthy I think he just kind of fits a little bit better in terms of what what the NFL is today. Terms of getting the ball out quickly and being decisive and then also when you take shots down the field. But I I love Joe Borough to if I WAS CINCINNATI. I would take her over to because of the durability issues. Borough is worth the the first overall pick and I think Cincinnati would be making mistake if they didn't take jober tied. You have to take proof your analysis because you're gonNA get clipped saying to us better than Joe Borough and that's GonNa Follow you forever. You've been spending too much time around.
Jalen Ramsey: 'Disrespectful' Things, Front Office Led to Jaguars Trade Request
"Strikes jags best the Titans twenty to seven ending a four game skid in the AFC south series in avoiding the franchise's second and restart in four years the rookie QB postgame cabinet cabinet you know is also also experience with these guys and bam bam bam nine tells all getting closer and closer to and the family do it in a home for them has a lot of fun. what do we never thought I'd get this opportunity so now they do have it I got to make the most of it so. we're grateful for it but I know you know. through every have one of my career you know the situation and I may only get one so you got to make the most of it says on trendy now all right so with all eyes on Ramsey who may have played his final game for Jacksonville Menchu the sixth round picks starting his second consecutive game in place of the injured Nick Foles completed twenty of thirty passes two hundred for yours in those two scores chalk up Damien woody as one that is impressed with talk about going to miss a lot of these guys to get into these situations six round pick he's not afraid to swing into the ball in now to get us a big Bob product plan in that in that pack in that water I stay system where he will sling the ball fifty times a game is paying dividends early on in his career certainly is but let's not forget about that Jacksonville defense they sacked Marcus Mariota at nine at times including three by colitis Campbell his coach Doug Marrone eight real strong in the first game they get the Texans you know it's tough he really can't say enough about the consistency of what type of player he is to ten acetate ID has the way he goes about the game you know he's long he's relentless he it's just a great pro and it's it's very difficult to stand up here and you know and saying he had a hell of a move tonight another way that could you know I I never I haven't seen that yeah and back to Ramsey a rip with the Jaguars front office ultimately led to his trade request speaking on the seventeen weeks podcasts he said an upsetting conversation with Jack wars management after Sunday's loss to the Texans was the final push and that led him to seeking a trade earlier this week a source telling ESPN's Josina Anderson that Ramsay expects to be dealt before the Jaguars next game September twenty ninth at Denver Anderson reporting that Kansas city Baltimore Minnesota Oakland Philadelphia and Seattle have made enquiries and almost every team has placed the call so how about when this might get done Adam Schefter earlier on get up Jacksonville is determined to get its. price Jacksonville wants to wants for the guy to I think Jack's was gonna get to ones from old only I don't but I don't think it's gonna be terribly far off and so Jacksonville doesn't feel like it has to move him in told has what it wants and I think that they're not gonna move him into a hole the Jaguars have what they want with that offer comes in this weekend next week all right before the October twenty nine trade deadline will say we will indeed now Ramsey did say some disrespectful things were said on the other end referring to management he did not single out coach Doug Marrone after their disagreement as seen on the sideline in Houston Ramsey was active for Thursday's game against the Titans but might very well be as we mention his
The Jaguars face the Texans in an AFC South showdown
"Right Thursday night football put a pin in it the AFC south showdown between the Tennessee tied tunes one in one after that dispiriting home home loss to the colts now travel to the big chlorine tank Jacksonville to face the Jaguars and Greg. This is a a very interesting match between also the titans this we wanted to in your tain you find it interesting but I'm trying to sell to the greater raider public the titans which they could not have looked better in the second half against the browns on the road got everybody sucked in and then look very much like the old titans and we to which WHO's WHO's the real titans in two thousand nineteen and the jags anytime you this is a caged animal game West Cornered Animal Game Owen to everyone knows your season's season's over in the NFL when you go with the added element caged animal of your cornerback trying to get out of the cage before the game exactly exactly so there you go that way. Greg caged animal game against the Titans team that we really don't know who they are yet. We've seen a ceiling floor. Laura ready and a quarterback in Jacksonville that sort of resembles a you know. A cute furry caged animals to garden. Gardner Menchu looked fine in his first start but this is a perfect match up for Tennessee to get right not only did. They wipe the floor with Jacksonville. If I remember a few times a year ago they're a veteran and secondary who should be able to swarm and kind of swallow this Jaguars offense which was very condensed the week ago. This is just so this such delimited team. They're so thin you know how sometimes Dak Prescott. He's completed eight passes to different receivers in the first half. They've six Jaguars period have caught passes this year they. They don't have a backup running back. Their offensive line is very thin and they were struggling to pick up blitzes. It's just a lot to ask for mint you who I think's doing a good job and their defense offense to carry them. I think when you have the B. Line through both games was that despite some big plays on offense for the titans against the Browns Marcus Mariota. Uh is not a quarterback that propels any offense. He's any seems to hold you back in one in one thing that I find interesting about a team like the titans versus others is that you get Adam Humphreys and you mentioned on Sunday any finishes week to with negative two yards. I thought he was going to be the perfect thing for Marcus Mariota and AJ Brown big game week one really nothing in week two and it says you cannot count on the titans attack week to week outside of. I think you know Henry. Potentially early on the ground has been consistent since last November so one of the better backs in the league they're gonNA need him to be big in this game but I do trust every other element of the titans and in their defense and to me. I'd be surprised if they don't win this by ten points or more there the better all around team. I expected to win but you never know when a Jaguars defense it's perfectly capable of shutting down the Tennessee Titans who are not dynamic on I mean they shut down the Texans the Texans. I think they were touchdown. I believe it was on a very very short field otherwise they did a great job and that was without in Gakugei and boy. I don't know if they're back but they got pressure on Watson and that's two weeks in a row for Watson Awesome but Watson that didn't shut the offense down against New Orleans man she mania. There's the night all right.
"mariota" Discussed on Establish The Run
"Let's move to the offensive side of the ball here back with Matt Leflore taking over for Mike McCarthy in Green Bay and Manfred <unk> floor probably deservedly beverly so took a lot of heat for the way he coached in Tennessee. I was not creative at all. The twenty third in yards per play last year declined to unleash Derrick Henry until late in the year but I think you could make a case that when you have Marcus Mariota and an injured Marcus Mariota Mario as your quarterback and really not much behind Corey Davis in terms of weaponry I it's hard to be creative. I it's hard to scheme <hes> really well so now he goes to a place where he has Aaron. Rodgers re has Davante Adams re has Air Jones. I think we're GONNA see Matt Leflore able to kind of spread his wings a little bit <hes> are you up or down on Matt Leflore as Mike McCarthy's replacement kind of in the middle but I think he's made it pretty clear that he wants to implement an offense like the two thousand Sixteen Falcons in Green Bay in that that's obviously ambitious. That's Matt Ryan's M._V._p.. Year but they have some similar components so matt with Louis going to try to get Aaron Rodgers to play more within structure in improvised less is going to use more play action which is always good for an offense by actions cheat code in the N._F._l.. Teams don't use it enough in the smart teams do rams use it at the ice rate in the league if Davante Adams or the Julio Jones Roll and I think the matter floor envisions drama Alison as the Mahomet new as the slot receiver Aaron Jones is plenty talented enough for the devante Freeman role in Maui floors this stuck out to me so Matt Leflore has talked about throwing two running backs more in the passing game. That would be very good news for Aaron Jones <hes> in that two dozen sixteen season the Falcons running backs caught ninety three passes last year. The packers running back only caught seventy one passes and they in that was at a finishing top five in the N._F._l.. In pass attempts packers target running backs on eighteen percent of their early down passes so will you don't what is a negative e._v...
Ryan Tannehill traded from Dolphins to Titans, shaking up the QB situation in Tennessee
"Good. And now, we don't know what the plan is. They have finally given up on Ryan tannehill who had seven years to prove that he could be a franchise quarterback. Now, he's out. Ryan Fitzpatrick is in with a two year contract reported base value of eleven million dollars that is peanuts is starting quarterback contracts. Go, but we don't even know whether he's going to be the starting quarterback. He may be the placeholder for whoever they end up within the draft and they had to sign somebody. They had to have somebody who was the plausible starter. So it is an obvious going into the draft that they're going to draft a quarterback because then at number thirteen they're going to get leapfrog by somebody for the quarterback that they want. So smart move to have Fitzpatrick smart move to have a guy who has played. Well. A he gets criticized a lot. But my God early last year he was spectacular. And he's better than whatever other options they had on the roster. So now, they have a bird in the hand. And we'll see what they do on draft. Yeah. That's right. I mean, there wasn't a lot of options out there in free agency wants city Brett teddy Bridgewater said no we knew they weren't going to bring back Ryan tannehill. So to what you're saying. Yes, I think it was a very smart decision to bring guy in like Ryan Fitzpatrick gives them some wiggle room. I mean, they are at number thirteen in the NFL draft certainly can be in prime position to get one of these quarterbacks. Maybe not Kyle Murray. They're gonna have to make moves if they wanna get Kyle Murray and get up to the first second third pick probably. But you know, does it Dwayne Haskins? Does it drew lock? Are. They around a thirteen. I think there's a good chance. I wouldn't have said that a few weeks ago. But I think as I sort through the draft more and more there is a good chance that I think one of those two might be on the board Jacksonville at seven. I don't think they're going to be dropped in a quarterback there this year. It's really about the giants at six right now as the. The team. That's really the obvious team that might be in the quarterback conversation. And I don't think there's any guaranteed. They'll take a quarterback at six. So the dolphins. Yes. You get this because you got a guy. Okay. We got our starting quarterback. Now, they can figure out what they want to do with the quarterback situation going forward into their future. And the thing with the Ryan tannehill deal. Look I thought they were just gonna cut him and they didn't need to keep them around. There's no guaranteed money in his deal as it stood before Friday, but they found somebody who would take him in trade. But that team wanted the dolphins to pay part of his salary. Even though the dolphins were on the hook for nothing guaranteed. So audibly what the dolphins did they dumped Ryan tannehill. And they bought a fourth round pick in twenty twenty five million dollars because they're paying five million dollars of Ryan tannehill new salary of seven million fully guaranteed. The titans. Get a backup quarterback for two million dollars. And Ryan tannehill better than Blaine gabbert, they were gonna play gap pay gabbert a million and a half. Right. I'll pay two million to tannehill. Because if. Pantyhose healthy. He's not horrible. He's actually pretty good can't stay healthy. But you only need to be healthy one or two games in the full year. And think about it if they had a better backup last year. Chris when Marcus mariota missed a couple of games. There are a playoff team. No. Exactly, right, Mike. I'll sit here and say, I'm not so sure Ryan ten hills not better than Marcus mariota. They're very similar. So it makes sense for Tennessee to get a guy like ten and he'll be the backup quarterback. They're both very good athletes who play quarterback. That's what I would say about the two guys. I mean can run they can do the read option the bootlegs play action passes

"When I want to figure out here when I thought it was true are when I thought I had went through. I'm just like it show like they were probably tired of him. And this is what you get for that. You know what I mean? But he just has to be really careful. You know what I mean? I mean tremendous talent on the field. I think his talking has almost overshadowed if for some people disappoint, but you gotta be careful like, Larry FitzGerald Centerman. You have a chance, and I'm not justifying who's right who's wrong. But the caliber of quarterback you're playing for now. And where you can there's not too many of those in the NFL. You know what I mean? So a talented receiver like him goes to a quarterback who's not a throat, or you know, if it just works out that way, it's going to be a harmful because it's also it's Tennessee is on that list. And like really interested. You're not putting up with Marcus mariota. Ben Rothlisberger is. Hall of fame. You want very town to curb is like I said, I'm not justifying who's right who's wrong there. But you just sometimes you have to be careful. Oh, okay. Well, this is interesting. One of the the big targets this this summer for the Lakers. Uh-huh. Purportedly of any interest at all playing with LeBron brings the latest on that. Are you talking about? Oh, I can't tell you now. No. It's the whole idea rang Kaminsky Matt Barnes Ramona, Shelburne, ESPN LA Sodano is I think on his way back from doing the game. Pop it up on. Donal is in Houston for seventy Sixers at rock sideline reporting. It's just his star is star rises like a meteor so hard to keep track of. Yes. It'd be back for the watch party tomorrow. No that. Marcus Mariota not expected to play vs. Indianapolis Colts; stinger puts QB's long-term throwing ability at risk
"Is not expected to play in tonight's winner. Take all game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a nerve condition caused by a stinger because further damage would put Mario's long-term throwing ability at risk Blaine gabbert is instead expected to get the start at quarterback with the recently signed Austin Davis as the backup Ezekiel Elliot of the Dallas Cowboys is inactive for their regular
Josh Norman: Taylor Lewan’s move “ultimate disrespect”
"We see the interpersonal rivalries being developed, but for Josh Norman, I feel really bad because it was the ultimate sign of disrespect to have killer over there Bacchus celebration in his face. And then right when Josh Norman wanted to fight him. He turns around and says, you know, what you're so little you can't do anything to hurt me. So I'm just gonna turn around and put my back to you. Because no matter what happens I'm going to be okay. That was to me. Ultimate sign of disrespect. And Josh Norman should be feeling pretty salty this week. I shouldn't since we're talking about the one on the titans team that has been kind of up and down this year. They found a way to manufacture some victories running the football. When needed a good defense when needed playing the upstart colts. Now, Andrew luck who after struggling to start the season of looked really good in their offensive line appears to be playing well doing a much better job on the defensive side. Also stopping the run the primetime Sunday matchup and essentially in a win if you're in or winning your endgame who do you like there? Oh, this is going to be a fun game. It's gonna be in my opinion. My most exciting game this weekend. The times have been really good at home or six and one at home right now the season they're playing this game at Nissan stadium in Nashville. And I think the titans are going to win this game. Marcus mariota. He's a guy that just finds a way to win. He doesn't have the best arm in the NFL. He's not the best passer, but his combination of his accuracy, his running ability. And then his just ability to find a way to win in those close games, in my opinion is going
"mariota" Discussed on Fantasy Throwdown Podcast
"I mean, literally the only thing you could say you said he managed to stick around in the league long enough to make more money than met liner. That's about it that say for Sanchez. But with that being said, I do not trust Marcus mariota one iota a way to inconsistent or on a football. If you watch that game last week against the giants. It was more of the fact that the giants players did not want to actually be outside in the rain tackling Derrick Henry than anything. Marcus mariota didn't end need tired of that game. There was nothing from the titans passing game that gave me any pause of consideration as conservatives a legitimate playoff team. And yes, the titans still have legitimate Janet making the playoffs due to the fact that with the. The week schedule that they had they only have six losses. So technically they were on the table, and they could beat Washington and take care of business gets indie. They're in the play offs. I don't see it happening. But you know, I at least have to consider the possibility. But the simple fact that matters the biggest hindrances Tennessee's squad is mariota's himself. Not consistent. Throwing the football hasn't been running all that much because he's been so banged up this year, he's dealt with stinger. He's dealt with fish shoulder injuries. You know, you name it like a foot injury. Like he's had a ton of injuries this year. And I just I look at mariota. And I'm wondering if this is just what he's going to be an injury, prone QB who can't stay healthy. Because if this is all they can bring to table Tennessee is gonna have to draft a QB that next year, at least to give Marietta some competition like they. To figure this out because they have a great offensive line that young they have players in in free-agent see paces that could play on offense. The defense still has some young players. It could be better. But you know, it's not the absolute worse in world. Tennessee has a squad that could make the playoffs if they had an average quarterback and right now mariota's blow average quarterback there. There's no nice way of spinning this like he's a bust so again, maybe mariota's show some signs where you know, he has those flashes. But, you know, at if we're being honest with ourselves like Baker Mayfield in year. One has already surpassed what market mariota can do. And in this league where defense has been outlawed as a twenty eighteen like mariota's should be a lot better than we're years right now..

"Marcus may on injured. Reserve roberts's a backup corner by trade. He's not used to playing in in middle field or centerfield and the titans went after that. And they did it on a first down where Marcus mariota is at his best as a passer mariota, the more. I watch him Gary the more I think he needs help from the system around him. I don't think he has a good enough arm to make throws without his legs being part of the equation. So if he's on the move it and awkward angle, I don't think the arms good enough. If he's got a muddy pocket. I don't think it's good. If his mechanics are a little bit glitched, you're gonna see a ball. That's really inaccurate. What he needs a clean platform to throw from. Which means he needs clean looks run defense. Looks in other words and something like play action. That naturally expands. A pocket the more. They throw on first down with mariota the better off they'll be and they did that really well in this game today. Yeah. And just talking about the job that variable on that staff have done in the first year here. I though the injuries add the summer and not only guys who went down for the year. John Ciprian everyone's banged up all summer. They really didn't get guys on the practice field. John evans. The the rookie linebacker herald Landry was battling injuries. It seemed like an entire defense was was battling injuries upfront. It seemed like it was going to be a team that you know, they just kind of started slow, and then maybe had some encouraging signs finish the season six and ten seventy nine and go get him in two thousand nineteen. They got wins. They figured out how to win early on. And now, it seems like, you know, it's still it's still a little bit fragmented. But. The Ken get there. You feel like it can get there at some point. Maybe if not in in December twenty eight teen. When we come back in September twenty nineteen. Yep. The other one other Derrick Henry is going to be an interesting guy in in this off season. Whether he stays with them, or what's his long-term future in the NFL and piffling I had today because he had a nice run on a sweep that set up a touchdown critical. Touchdown the flow of the game. This was a comeback performance by the titans. That's getting lost in our our conversation here. But Henry he a few years ago. Alex van pelt who's airy was for the longest Aaron Rodgers QB coach we wrote about him on the Kaelin keilor's excellent. Article in the Packers this past week and the relationship that Rogers had van pelt van pelts now in Cincinnati. But for twenty twelve and twenty thirteen van pelt was Green Bay's running backs coach and one thing he noticed about Eddie lacy that year is Lacey's better. When you get the ball in his hands early because it establishes some downhill momentum shifts the mindset is a runner. You're not worried about taking the hand off you now just reading the defense. I think Derrick Henry is Eddie lacy. You've got to get. Him. So what they did in Green Bay when they found that out about lacy. They started pitching the ball all the time. They didn't do handoffs. They pitched everything they did some pistol stuff, and they tried to the ball as soon as possible earlier in the run. I think you need to do that. With Henry he is I don't love him as a runner, but once he gets downhill momentum going I think I do love him. I think he's a freight train at times so more sweeps more pitches designed to get the ball to Derrick Henry early in the down. I go with that. All right. What's what's your signing off on that? I'm signing off. Yeah. Stamp of approval. I didn't give you a a concerned grown right there. Yeah. You know? I appreciate my sounds were my sound for positive. Let's go. Let's go out west the chiefs beat the raiders, which I didn't think surprise anyone forty two thirty three that that chiefs defense that shaky but obviously the the story in this one and look at the QB we will be doing quite a bit on Kareem hunt over the next couple of weeks here..

"Whenever I hear qualifiers for stuff. I'm always like. Yeah. You know, it's like the best movie in the last two weeks in April that doesn't make it a great movie. It's the best movie that's been released in April. I just saw stat on Marcus mariota quarterback for the titans since the week eight bye. He's completing seventy eight percent of his passes for one hundred and twenty four point five passer rating. Wouldn't it be great if seasons you could just skip the first seven weeks wouldn't that? Be awesome doodling. Marcus mariota is a great quarterback. I don't I think he gets hurt too much. I think he didn't throw the ball down the field enough. Whenever I hear qualifiers. That radio. Host is great on Mondays during the football season. Anybody can do a Monday football show house Wednesday in August champ. Then you can be a baller. I don't wanna hear about you play. Well at home, you're good in Tom Brady is good early. He's good Middle East. Good late. He's good in the playoffs. He's good in Foxborough. He's good in the road. He's good in cold. He's good in warm. That's good. I want to hear about you know, since the week eight by Marcus Morio. Do you think Marcus mariota is a great quarterback? I don't I don't I watch the games. I don't you think. I mean, he needs a running game protection. The right, Tom. Brady's had multiple coordinators. Good. Oh lines. Not so good. Good running games. Not so good star receiver. No receiver slot receiver. Gronk there gronk not same offense. That's great. Don't give me qualifiers on Marcus. Mariota internet. Also, Mike pouncey. Yeah. I mean here we go Marcus mariota 's career record in four years twenty three and twenty eight is was that on the tweet. I mean, he sub five hundred you can make Kirk cousins. And Andy Dalton.

"It just hard to give up on a twenty four year old that you made the number one overall pick. But you know, look at Tennessee with Marcus mariota. Are you all in on Marcus mariota club? Look at Jacksonville. Blake bortles. Also, number three. Everyone says go get a quarterback in top three. It's not that easy. No. Because you have to have a quarterback who's worthy of a top three pick. And I think that's where people make the mistake where they go. We gotta get a quarterback. Well, don't don't use a high draft pick on a quarterback. Just because you need a quarterback. He might not be the right quarterback any might not be worthy of. A top three or top five pick. Who were the debates have odds on the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns, because it's not going to be Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma. I have seen. I have to update. He's there was an early front runner that everyone was like, what did you see that? Sean mcveigh. Yeah. What's that about ways in Ohio guy, the guy? Okay. This is how I think this all plays out. It doesn't go well in Green Bay and Mike McCarthy's out in Green Bay. He goes, I don't know what. It's relationship is John Dorsey, the GM, and maybe check me bay. Yeah. They're both green bag is. Okay. Mike McCarthy will be your coach pretty Dorsey was part of that. Okay. Check that. But I thought there was a relationship there. But if I connect the dots, and I have McCarthy he and as Aaron Rodgers is moving forward in his career in the latter part of his career. He's going to want somebody else in there. You don't have to be an insider to look at the body language between those two are the comments that are made publicly by Rogers, this isn't going to last and if you're Mike McCarthy, and you're out in Green Bay, and John Dorsey gonna want his guy you bring in McCarthy who you know, offense background having worked with Rogers. And now you get to work with Baker Mayfield junior the third the Browns GM John Dorsey was a Packers player for four years. And he's worked for the Packers since ninety ninety one through two thousand twelve scout scouting director player personnel football operations. So he's a lifer with Green Bay. So I it just feels like that. That would be the nice transition that I get McCarthy whose worn out his welcome in Green Bay. And you get him in Cleveland where he gets to now. Mold a quarterback as oppose Aaron Rodgers is already molded. Aaron Rodgers doesn't need to be told anything whereas Baker Mayfield can learn from Mike McCarthy amick love that'd be good too. So in two years, you get another shot at Lincoln Riley when you fire Mike McCarthy. I I mean, mean, look look at at this. this stat look at the history every two years they've just been churning through guys unto Linda haven't drafted any are. They haven't hired anybody. Who has stature here? There's nobody who's the last coach Hugh is a little hot. He was a quarterbacks coach and he had trouble in Oakland. Yeah. He didn't do anything. Rob Kinski wasn't. Oh, Romeo Cornell Mike Pence. No look at listen to that. It just feels like a hard place, you need somebody who has commanded respect has one. And is an offense minded guy. That's what you need. If you're going to be fair to Baker Mayfield taking him number one overall. And you want him to succeed, then you have to put somebody in there like Mike McCarthy, he would be the guy that I would look at it and say, you're not getting his Lincoln Riley. You're not getting him from Oklahoma. I don't think. Yes. Mclovin. Does it young guy with rantings Zack Taylor whose quarterback, which I believe would you want to Sean McVeigh young guy instead McCarthy who sort of bit around so..

"And it was a star studded cast their I don't know if that's where I would go with the star studded cast. I mean, always nice to see them like when do you see them? Fritzy, that's a good point this sounded cool to say that periodically when we're hanging out at the dodger game. It's nice to like how many dodger games have you seen them? I'm gonna probably say zero. That's what I thought. But it was nice to see them out there. Some of the other headlines that was a hearken back to the ball park party at the Burs ballpark. You you just meet a guy who's at his bachelor party. And and you say, we're also happy for you. I felt like something to be said he was so excited that we took the time to come by and go in the zone so happy for him. We just met him like seven seconds earlier be very happy for someone to not have let a whole nine where all so happy for you. I shouldn't have thicker upon myself to speak for the group. No, I don't want you doing that. It's he found that with where are you registered Gina crate and barrel. I was close to getting Justice of a bed bath and beyond would have been a big deal there. Right. So steep pierces your World Series MVP I sold the Astros in Red Sox or the co favorites to win the World Series next year Rams now eight note chief seven one and Saint sneaky six and one James Winston benched. Could you trade him? Would you try member? When the argument used to be Jameis Winston, Marcus mariota. I don't think that question comes up anymore. Winston is more disappointing. But I think it's because he thinks he can do more and he takes more chances. And he's just not that good. I don't care how Patrick Mahomes is taking chances. But he is he's better than James Winston. There are certain quarterbacks where you say just stick to the game plan here. Don't try to do too much. And it's not that he doesn't have talent. I just don't think he processes what he needs to do in the moment, and that's really hard to do. But man was he terrible yesterday. Yeah. Pulling Marcus mariota in the past two seasons has sixteen touchdown passes and twenty picks. And it's just a starting quarterback in the NFL for a guy who does have a whole lot of challenge. And Winston does have a lot of talent. I just I didn't like him from the get-go. I don't think he's a leader. I think he is done stupid things, obviously. And then gets on the field, and you just look at the decisions that and it's not like he doesn't have talent on that to where you have to make something happen. You're not you're not playing in buffalo like you have tight end and wide receivers. You got break and Howard Evans. You don't have to try that hard..

"Set would be knowing that he's in year four, right? My Kurt mindset would be I don't wanna do anything until I've seen five full years. I would. He's the type of player. I would rather take the fifth year and franchise him for a year to see who he actually is quarterback before. I would actually invest mega money in and right now, you know, we could talk about whether matters of your good person or not in the NFL or whatever. That means anything. We always talk about like, hey, if you're a bad player was a bad person with skill, you're going to get more wiggle room than a good player that like, you know, if you're a bad player without skill and you get yourself in trouble. But here's, here's where I'm going with this Marcus mariota is not a good person, not a great person. He is like a world class individual. You not find a person that could find a single bad thing to say about Marcus mariota that my my point is merely that. I think that the titans will do everything they can to give him as many chances as they can to prove himself to be not just the franchise quarterback for nab for the next ten years. And they may internally feel like he's already there. I think some people in the outside would say like, he's. Got some work to do, but he's such an important person in personality and he's so well respected that. I think that you're going to want to give him every chance to continue to grow. I was just curious if you thought that he was already there and I, I don't think he's already there, but to your point, Nashville is a city where we're character matters a lot in that community. And I think every ownership group has to make a decision of what matters to them with the fans that they have and Mario too is important to them. That's why, like I said, even though it's crazy to be talking about two years from now because he's in year four. If they have this year, they'll have the fifth year option on him if exercised that, and I can see them actually coming in and saying, hey, even if we have to franchise them, I can't see them giving him huge money long-term deal right now. But I could see them taking one year at a time to give him every moment that he possibly could. I think it will sort itself out before them though. I really do. I hope I think by the end of this year, we'll have a absent, this injury, you know, stretching out for multiple weeks. I think this will give us a pretty good feel of what Marcus mariota is player as we. It's been and Fitz on ESPN radio, Jason Fitz field Yates. Field Yates sitting in for Spain, Spain, no, you're sitting in for Spain, though. You're doing a fantastic job. Let's stay on this quarterback conversation though. For minute, especially when it comes to injury, I want your thoughts because we haven't had the opportunity to talk about it a particularly on on Nick foles and what the eagles should be doing as our risen NFL insider his rights, how would how would you be handling the Nick foles situation? Well, the good news for Philadelphia's it's going to handle itself in this way. Carson Wentz medical time line will dictate how long Nick foles starts for the Philadelphia Eagles and I get it. He looked bad in week one. But this guy is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and someone articulate this well on Twitter. I think it was my friend Evans Silva's a great job covering football Ferodo world. Basically, Nick foles has wide variance in what he is as a player, right? There's not a lot of middle ground for him. He's either really good like tremendous Super Bowl, MVP good or a guy that has been traded and cut on multiple occasions during his NFL career has never been a fulltime sustainable starter in week one. He played like the ladder guy..

"Still in concussion protocol and Jack conklin who still. Covering from the AC l. injuries. A very good point right there. I'm going to protect yourself. Think this gamesmanship at all, like coachspeak is one of those things that we talk about all the time like for wild, Nick, Sabin, and that was the infamous wouldn't commit to a quarterback one way or the other. I is it possible. I guess it's possible. I think this is one of those moments there were though it's a sort of a why moment. For me, I scratch my head and there's certain guys that are projected his injury prone Marcus mariota is on that list right martyred. Mario to somebody that we think of, hey, you're going to have to have a backup you wanna. Tell me the Blaine gabbert was really the right solution. I, I mean, it just feels I Blaine gabbert trusting your franchise in the hands of Blaine. Gabbert already is got to be very sinking feeling for titans fans. Yeah, I'd say so, you know, be curious just to kind of tap you back into this, your Nashville roots, which you've called home for a long time where we had a Marcus mariota. In what I mean by that is this. Are you convinced he is already Francesca? I'm just gonna. I'm gonna give you all the doors and you can decide which when you want to walk through, are we convinced the franchise quarterback? Are we convinced that there is the most likely he is not one yet, but the most likely outcome is that he will be one are we convinced that he is not one yet and he will never become one, or are we convinced you will never become on any is like a needs to be replaced? I think that the community of fans in general is convinced that he can be a star quarterback. And when you go back to the, the change head coach for my malarkey being fired part of the reason, Mike malarkey was fired. Keep in mind, tides maze playoffs last year, part of the game, he's been playoffs. Yeah. The perception is at least part of the reason he was fired was because Marcus mariota was not developing the right way and his offense wasn't going to work. He wasn't willing to make some changes there on the offense of coaching staff. So all of a sudden he finds himself out of a job. They bring in variable, but variables number one responsibility has got to be the development of the quarterback. I hate to say, we don't know, but I will tell you this. If I was today of the titans, Mike current minds..

"So remember triple eight, seven to nine, three, seven, seven, six field can have a conversation going into the weekend of football without talking about quarterbacks, and we have to acknowledge that. I think one of the things we've seen so far early in the season that sort of transfers from last season was it's hard to figure out where some of these young quarterbacks are injury. His impacted one particular situation. I'm gonna start with with Marcus mariota and the Tennessee titans. And Mike variable came out today and said, he expects both quarterbacks, meaning Marcus, mariota, and backup. Blaine gabbert to play. This makes sense. Well, I think what he said was he could envision a scenario where both of them do play on Sunday. So the obvious implication there is that Marcus Marta would start, but Blaine gabbert might need to be on the ready in case something happens with Marcus mariota which makes me think this fits and I'm not a doctor, and I'm not trying to put words everybody's mouth, but I'm thinking to myself like that suggest to me that, hey, there is an injury. The Marcus mariota is currently. Working through that he is capable of playing in, it might be more pain tolerance than it is something structural, right? Like he could go in there on Sunday until they could happen to him. They could set them back far enough that he would need to leave the game temporarily for the entirety of it, but it wouldn't make him worse. Right? It just that, like in order in order for it to get truly better, he needs time, but it kid get any worse than it might already be right now which might open the door to something where you start Marcus mariota, but you may not have them for, you know, sixty minutes, you may only have them for a handful of drives. And again, I'm now I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm all over the place. I think you make a fair point though because number one, the titans as an organization have been conservative in the way they bring back the guys back from injury. They've always taken their time and tried to do things in a smart way. Looking forward number two, it can't be lost on the coaching staff that whatever they're going to ask Marcus more unit to do. He's going to have to do behind an offensive line that won't include Taylor Lewan who's.

"I mean, look, Watson last year started out against Cincinnati. He was horrible. He was as bad as he was against the patriots this week. We'll see what he does. He's got to be better speaking of see what he does. Take Fraser. I'm telling you this Marcus mariota thing now. It's got a worrier. I mean this when when is this guy played? Good. Tell me when I know last year the playoffs. I mean, I guess a couple of touchdown passes a Corey Davis or the stuff that people are still pointing out losing Delaney Walker, I, I mean, just watching that game. This was the longest games as nineteen seventy merger for people that do not know this the twenty seven twenty win for the dolphins in Tennessee made a lot of lightning delays. One of them one hour, the other one, two hours. But all in all mean when you look at new Cordova's and I mean there were open targets to write that the I think the problem with the mariota's stuff was obviously goes down with injuries says he's hoping to be back, but he missed Corey Davis when he's opened. I mean, there were there were a couple of times in this game where you felt markets could make a pass that could really help the Tennessee titans team and it didn't quite work out. You know, in sixteen he had a much better season. Then he didn't like last year. He throws thirteen interceptions. He throws fifteen interceptions and just thirteen touchdowns and people were blaming y- you know, the offense was bad and all that. And then this week he just tows to the worst interceptions you can have and I'm just wondering, can he stay healthy? Is he going to be able to make be doorbell? Can he make throws like you gotta be concerned if you're tight fan. I mean, look, he did not play well, maybe it's because again, the overreaction here, but the first week of the Prec this because preseason has been nothing that you can't overreact two quarterbacks. I'm not overreacting to Watson. I'm not over, but I'm worried about mariota. I'm worried about him. His door abilities, Billy stay on the field as ability to make throws when he has to make them. You got to be concerned a little bit here and it was in the first quarter that he had Davis and Delaney for would look like could be what would be touchdowns on that same drive. They both obviously did not connect. And then from there, the dolphins seem to to to work it out. But Ryan tannehill we should say, first real action in six hundred thirty seven days. He's back on the field. And I mean the dolphins look like a team that sorta had an identity at least. Right, right. They they, you know, look, I just I'm not in love with Tennessee's football team. I don't. I think they're personnels that good. I really don't. I don't. I think that they're, you know, they're offensive line is average. I know people think they're great and all that. I think when they play against good teams, I think that they struggle and I know they were a playoff team last year. Dion. Lewis was really good running. The ball Henry wasn't as good. I thought he would be able to run the ball with more power against a smaller team. But look, that game was kind of hard to understand the way it went back and forth with all the with all the thunderstorms and all that. But for me at that that wasn't disappointed..

Scott Frost debuts at Nebraska against Colorado
"But what do you expect from frost in Nebraska today that really the first game? We all know, we've seen Scott frost. It is different stops. He knows how to coach offense. He's he's gonna make point. He's going to get points. And I think you've seen the running of the quarterbacks got to be part of that mix. I'm very true freshman quarterback. Adrian, Martinez cat is very good. And I think he's got a bright future Kirk. But the one thing I'm looking at with them is how much can you run them because Gabby as soon as he found out that the freshman Martinez was gonna start he transfers. And so are you going to run your quarterback a lot to win ballgames that you need to win? 'cause they're going to need to do that. How much is that balance? How delicate is that's gonna be a challenge for Scott frost? His is is what it is going to have to do it. Big part of what he wants to do. I can't wait to watch the true freshman. I I really think the story could be on the other side of the ball. They're going to win this game. We saw just saw some highlights and the throwbacks in the nineties. It was the defense in those years. They're going to be challenged at home. Today. Steven Montas last week he missed three passes twenty to twenty five and Colorado state. I don't care if it's against the air twenty two or twenty five got some good athletes coming in from the pack twelve they were down last last year. I think they're back. This is this is an opportunity for C you to send a message to everybody that they can play this year in the Pac twelve was impressive completed. His first will get the office. We'll get back to Scott frost impresses me about Scott, the coaches who influenced his life his coaching career. I mean, he was at Stanford Bill wash. It was obviously Nebraska Tom Osborne in the NFL, Bill Belichick. Bill Parcells Mike Tomlin. They don't forget at Oregon chip Kelly. He brings that toughness. But he also brings their creativity on office. You talk about Martinez. He actually compared Martinez. Marcus mariota who was on a playoff team at Oregon. That's a huge compliment to compare him to Mario the Heisman. Scott frost is going to win a boat load of games at Nebraska. But one of them's not going to

"So kind of it starts to almost ruin the enjoyment of finding out if you're that caught up of like trying to predict and knowing what's going. I don't. I would severely question anyone that gets deeper and deeper into football in doesn't realize that they know less and less and less than they ever thought possibly could have got a game that is so incredibly complex. We can be saturated with names and statistics and information. That's fine. You can regurgitate all that stuff, but. If you don't become humbled by the fact that you literally have no concept, what's going through most coaches heads you're on, not on my team. Team, Scotland. This totally went in different directions than I expected anybody down to you and Connie. I've got. I'm good. Mine are all fine. Mark, you said you had an I know. Marcus mariota to be more accurate. This. I got a football nerdy one. Okay. What does that mean? What about the force it? But if you feel like you want to speak on it, speak on it. I think that, like at least twenty nine NFL head coaches should resolve to copy Doug Peterson's approach to gain management that he used throughout this idea that that you're going to punt from the forty yard line, and it's going to go into the end zone and you're gonna get fifteen yards instead of keeping the ball and try and Ford on fourth and short. That's been a no brainer for thirty or forty years in the NFL. And I just I hope NFL coaches resolved to be smarter in game management. Watch them old Bill Parcells to he was great to have as your head coach because he always went for it on fourth down. He was not afraid to take shots on second and short like be bold vote. It's another knock on the preseason because I think we've seen a bunch of teams experimenting with essentially pulling the punter when when when there's anywhere any chance of getting the fourth down conversion inside the fifth. Eighty. No punts like last night, the Browns did a two, but then the minute September hits. Where are they? Like? Why then suddenly the ninety, five percent of these coaches get conservative. All right. One last one, Jason Witten. Don't let the bastards grind you down. This is going to be a process. He's he's been shaky out of the gate, but just hanging there buddy. It's tough being compared to Tony Romo and it's ironic because he was your team had for so long. It's just the way it's worked out. Boettger everybody likes Boettger and Tessa tour seems good. You don't like he's fine. He's, I think he's. It's like need some reps together Whitten's go. So people shouldn't be burying him because he's not Roma. Romo was like Konya rap college dropout, you know, guns and roses, dropping appetite for destruction like that type of like a comet arriving on the scene at that happens never. And so. Connecting in a way. Table, nine hundred ninety one. We didn't need a new announcing. Teams would get some some media attention, but people didn't shred everything that the new play by play or color guy was saying because there was no way to do it. I saw this ridiculous for the win and they do a nice job at US USA today, like covering the lighter side of the game. But like they had a post just like destroying Witten for getting something wrong on the teleprompter. And then a whole string of tweets from a bunch of sun Twitter saying how horrible witness, just like back-off come on, take it easy way. Yeah. All right. That's it. One bit of housekeeping. "Two point how many questions you need to answer, maybe team and go back to the Rams example because it's front and center. Maybe they feel like they were bringing back. Same group. We know how this works. We don't. We don't have those kinds of questions. Whereas Tom Brady got some new receivers. He's trying to break in to mention what they're doing on the offense of wine. So it's very team specific. But as you see these teams start scheduling more of these joint practices, Mike referenced that the patriots haven't had them. They see that in some way as a substitute for that game action in a more controlled one that makes them feel a little better about things. And this key for the patriots receiver specifically because they're letting guys go, they're trying to figure out what they're receiving core is going to look like. And it's important for Tom Brady to build some type of continuity with the right. And is Mike Reese mentioned too about the Panthers determining how long Cam is in there because of injuries on the offense of line. If you can't be moving. Okay. So onto Broncos and Redskins the Broncos had to Washington where the biggest story line could be the debut Redskins running back Adrian Peterson who signed with the team earlier this week as keenum has only completed nine of seventeen passes this preseason entering his game with the Broncos NFL nation, Redskins reporter, John.
