I did find it. And it seems like it's very unverified, but I'm just going to say this out there in case this ends up being true because it is backed up. They put this out before the Nintendo direct happened that confirmed that birdo was coming. So it has to be there. So it's like, okay, and then some of the courses as well. So there is some level of this could be true, but they're saying king bob-omb, Petey piranha, hammer bro, charging chuck, Monty mole, diddy, Dixie, funky, at Hyde's parent. SNES Mario kamek Pauline and nabbit. Wait. That's like way too many characters though. There's only 5 more minutes. Now real quick, diddy, Dixie, in grumpy, or whatever the fuck his name was. Which one's the sexy one barret likes? Funky. It's a funky boy doing funky things. "I even made my blanket the home symbol from Stargate, and the SG-1 emblem is my pillowcase. It's so cool. Now it's finally time to put a screen out and try to play a game. I pick a 64 to start with and pop in Mario 64. I love the little details, like having to actually connect the console to the TV, to putting a cartridge in and hitting the power slider. If you've done this in real life, you will have no problems figuring it out in VR. I started playing Mario 64 and got hooked. I sat and played three levels, even though I was just playtesting it to feature it on the show. I gotta say, I loved playing a 64 game with my Oculus Touch controllers too, versus the odd-shaped original ones that you really needed three hands to use. I put on the original Nintendo and played some Mario, Battletoads on the Sega, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, Super Mario Kart, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Goldeneye, and even got some Diddy Kong racing in too. It all looks as it was meant to, and played great with the help of my Oculus Touch controllers. The little details are really what makes this game. From being able to import your own labels to seeing the glare on the TV and the reflections of the rest of the room. My daughter, by the way, did point out that the fan isn't moving in the reflection of the TV when the fan's actually on in the room. But it's really a great effect. If you want to get into the retro gaming scene, this is the most immersive way to do it. Yes, there are glitches, yes, it's rough around the edges, but the end result is a true fabrication of the 70s, 80s, or 90s bedroom of your younger years, or your parents if this is all new to you. And remember, this is a pre-alpha version of emu VR, so we get to use it while it's being developed. Considering what they have accomplished so far, I'm very, very excited to see what the final project will look like. Epic Games store launches self publishing tools for developers. This is Taylor lyles at IGN. After a long beta testing period, Epic Games announced today that it was rolling out new self publishing tools that will allow game developers and publishers to release their games on his PC digital storefront. In a new press release, Epic Games confirmed that there are some guidelines developers and publishers must follow to utilize these tools. Some noteworthy requirements include that games offer PC cross play support across all PC stores from multiplayer titles and include age ratings for regional distribution. "Tough because Nintendo has never really done the ongoing support thing. I know this is kind of them doing it, but I don't know if I, I'm kind of good with whatever they do because as long as I get more Mario kart content, either way, does it really matter if it's in more 8 via boosting up the what's the value of the Nintendo online subscription or whether it's a new game? I will say that the pro of a new game is genuinely there is iteration and thematic change between the Mario karts, like they all have their own identity. It's more than just evolving the mechanics or maybe putting it in a different environment, like they have their own mechanical shtick with this one being the kind of zero gravity is sort of, well, what's different or weird about this one. But yeah, it's kind of a unique position. The reason I bring it back to what I mentioned earlier, where I was a bit annoyed seeing the, oh, and we have new stuff. It's not because I hate getting the new stuff, or because I don't want to pay for the new stuff. It's just that they had, and so they had a plan, and they just switched it up, which we've seen many companies do, where we had a deluxe, and they're like, hey, we know you bought it before, but can you buy it again? And it'll have the DLC. So I bought the game on Wii U. I bought the DLC for the game on Wii U. Then I bought the game that came with the DLC on switch. And now I'm buying more DLC for the thing that said it had all the DLC. And that's why I'm like, you know, we didn't wait until Mario kart 8 deluxe deluxe for the next thing, you know? They'll just add more DLC to ten years later. So it is what it is. We're here now. I'm like, okay, I'm here. I hope you have a vision. And I'd love for you to share that vision with us. I do think though, do we need Mark 9? Not necessarily, but I would like one and I would like a clean start with a true ongoing support plan from the jump would be my dream for a 9 where aid is sort of maybe a testing ground for what is the interest level or player retention. Again, I don't know what their goals are from a business perspective with this game and this franchise, but if I think in my dream world market 8 support is more of a proof of concept and that 9 is like the ultimate Mario kart and maybe they add in something, I don't know, mechanically that will kind of wore it the fact that it would be an additional one. But that's like boom. This is it. This is our ongoing game. We're here just indefinitely. I think that would make that would be the best of kind of both. But what about you? Are you just want more aids? Do you want 9? I mean, I think the way they're treating it right now is pretty fine. To Jordan's question of how much more it can Nintendo really add or innovate to this point. Nintendo feres weird and different and sometimes technologically behind, right? They are. They're also very creative. And they're also like, there are a lot of times geniuses when it comes to, hey, what is a mechanic or feature or system that we can add to a game to give it fresh new life to make it an entirely different thing, right? Like you mentioned the changes that we get from Mario kart to Mario kart in terms of zero gravity. Oh, now we're adding we're adding la Carson fly now. You're floating through air. Double dash added team mechanic to it, right? I think whatever Mario kart 9 ends up being will be something that is that will be marketed with a oh, and here's The X Factor, right? They're going to add in a new X Factor because they always find that new thing to add in there to make it worth it. Oh, I love the image barrier. Fly now, they fly now. That said, I think right now, Mario kart 8 deluxe, I think Nintendo's goal with it is to get as much juice out of it for the switch era as they can. I think they're playing the waiting game and waiting on whatever the big predecessor, big successor to the switch is to then release Mario kart 9 so that they can plant that flag and be like, cool. Now we are releasing this version of Mario kart that we know is going to be the bestselling game on the platform. And we're going to update this thing throughout the whole existence of the platform. That way you kind of have that ushering in, right? That transition point to where you pick up a new switch to or whatever it is, and then you pick a Mario kart and you ride with that throughout the rest of the generation. I think Q something I'd like to see from 9 is a proper campaign. Which I haven't played every single Mario kart game, but I have played this one a lot across the two platforms. And there's not really a lot in that lane. I would just play to unlock the stuff. And then with 8 deluxe, it was unlocked automatically, so then I was like, okay, well, I guess I'll just keep getting new wheels. Let me tell you about this game called diddy Kong racing. Crash team racing. I loved it at the time, and then I grew up blessing. Don't say that. Don't say that. Yes, I played it like literally like a month ago on my own. It's like driving through. It's awful. It feels terrible. You must have played a different version than the one I played, because it feels awful. It's great. The mechanic shtick of like, you got the little inflating, and then you got the plane, that's awesome. The feeling terrible. It's that thing where I played so much of it growing up that I can't. I can't separate myself from how good it felt back in the day, right? Like I pick up diddy Kong racing and it feels as good as day one because I don't know how to I can't let that game age my brain. But I totally feel what you're saying, right? You pick up this game for the first time in 2020. These turns. These ones are great. You can't see anything. I think this looks fantastic. If they did a remake, I would totally be down for that because I think all the core steps there, I just don't think it feels that good. And its defense, I'm not playing a lot of old going back to a lot of old cart racers because they hurt my eyes, frankly. Those old marker games are painful to play because the ground is like fake 3D and stuff. You know what I think is like, what do you say, when you have you gone back to Mario kart 64? How would you? Which of course it is. That's wacky. This thing. Oh, God, I think the little bar that they slide it into so you can see it or you can have it held up in the back seat of a car. Did they ever even sell anything like that? No. Of course you got to go play Mario kart at the real life card. All right, now this one playing basketball with the Bros. And then you drop that two systems on the picnic table while everyone else keeps away basketball so you can play NBA two K hilarious. But this was such a good commercial 'cause it just showed off the versatility of this thing and like how it all can connect in different like the multitude of ways. Anyway, yeah, we want to talk a little bit about romance options. All right, cool it with the hearts. Calm down over there. I want to talk about romance options in games, which is sort of a, I don't know, like it's a hilarious concept, but also something that is worth exploring. We're going to talk a little bit about something that is a little bit NSFW, which is kissing. And Jada, you previewed Pacific drive and also reviewed Final Fantasy theater the final bar line. Yes, you nailed it perfectly. Theater rhythm, final bar line. I almost thought review as part of the title because they typically. Yeah, I don't know how to pronounce it still. Theater rhythm is theater rhythm. Yes. Theater rhythm. Yeah. Okay. It's just like how it looks. I wanted to pronounce it how it looked. Yeah, it does true. To be fair in my draft for it, I did misspell the name game, the name of the game, because it's not a word. It's not words that had a car accident. It's actually a portmanteau. Anyway, we do, I want to mention this. We do have a PlayStation VR two floating around the IGN office. We shot an unboxing and by we, I mean me, that's out there, you should check that out, but we basically weren't allowed to talk about any of the actual games yet. We are going to have a proper PSVR two review going up on IGN along with some game reviews in time for launch. I don't have specific details on when that's happening, but bear with us. It will be happening. And hopefully we have a chance to actually get some hands on heads on time with that in the near future. Now, elephant in the room, last week we did not talk about Hogwarts legacy, which was sort of a deliberate choice, and I want to explain the reasoning for that. A lot of you in the comments were like, your jimmies were rustled, I would say. But here's the thing. A lot of people have really strong feelings about that game, both positive and negative. There is the overwhelming political stuff that's attached to that. The controversy. And even if we were just going to talk about the game itself, none of us are particularly into Harry Potter, not at all. So it's kind of like high risk, low reward, and none of us are playing it, so I don't really, like, we didn't really have there's no good ending there. Yeah. I feel like no matter what we had to say about it, it would be, it would piss off somebody. And so we just kind of didn't talk about it. So I'm sure that just us saying that is going to piss some people off. But it did kind of get us talking about licensed games, which is what we want to focus on instead because I think it's worth there was a review floating around for Hogwarts legacy that was done by a guy who didn't like Harry Potter, and this was like his first venturing into this. And it's like, that seems like an odd choice. Words for it or anything, but it's really interesting when you do that kind of review, right? If you're not a fan of the licensed title, should you review it? Are you gonna be biased because you're a fan of the IP or are you gonna be more non biased? Because you're disconnected from all that and just see it purely as a game. I don't know. It's a hard line to toe, I think. Go ahead, Kim. Like, I've reviewed I've reviewed the sonic movie. I had to kind of like, you know, take the whole and everyone knows that I'm a huge sonic man, but I had to kind of like, I had to take that out. I had to look at this more objectively and not necessarily just be like, this is awesome because it's sonic on the big screen. But I really had to, I watched it twice. Just to make sure that I got, you know, of course the first time I'm seeing it, you know, taking notes second time, I'm also taking notes. And I saw it after I wrote the review a third time, just as a fan with other enthusiasts, sonic enthusiasts, to kind of just really look at it more from a fan's perspective. But yeah, I feel like you have to kind of you can't look at something, you know, just because you were a fan of it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to have biases towards it. You just got to put that critical thinking hat on. So I don't know, I wouldn't say it's more or less, you know, for that person who's never actually been, I feel like you're more so at a disadvantage if you are like a huge die hard fan of the property. Because if it lets you down and hopefully your honest about it. So when it comes to when it comes to licensed games like the license obviously does a lot of heavy lifting, it can also be kind of an anchor that drags it down. Like if you come at a license game and it's something you absolutely adore and you have the highest expectations for a game based on this property you love, then you might be especially hard on this game for not nailing it and conversely you might also be willing to forgive some technical hiccups or what have you because it is good enough fan service for whatever it is that you're into. And I feel like we all have kind of instances of both of those where it's like, here's the thing I love. They made a terrible game about it and I mad at it because it deserves better games and then flip side you're like, well I'm pretty fond of this even though it is a trash game. I just happen to like blank. Yeah, I think we could all kind of talk about some of our own personal ones. Josh, I believe you have a super bombad taste in games. Oh yeah, super bomb bad. I didn't even know that was like, I think growing up, I played this game called Star Wars super bombad racing, which was a Mario kart clone that came out after The Phantom Menace came out. So it was only focused on Phantom Menace characters, Boston ass Darth Maul Sabo and took place on those settings and those planets. And I didn't know what a bomb bad was. I didn't question it until yesterday when I was thinking about this game. I'm like, what is bomb bad? They never explained it in the game. You have to watch the movie. It's a Jamaican term. Is it? I'm just making that up. It's either that or Bomba clot. Maybe I'm getting those two words because I'm confused. I think it's a portmanteau of bombastically badass, which, you know. Sure. Yeah, Boston asked with a huge head driving a small car. Hard to disagree with that. I mean, I was a young kid playing that game and it was like, yeah, I played Mario kart already, and I knew this wasn't as good as Mario kart, but this was also the first time I was kind of really

So I guess our answer would be, we don't think it's coming. If it does, I'm going to be happy. And I have no issue being wrong. So I hope that's one of the memes I saw lately was I think exactly about Mario kart. Like an image of school children and games we played back then, Mario kart 8, games between university, games were playing right now. Yeah. Yeah, they've got for some people, it's not nostalgia. You know, it's obviously new buyers. Mario kart 8 and GTA 5. Games that are going forever. GTA 5 got its ray tracing update too. I haven't checked it out. The GTA 5 came out on my first year of or second year of university, and right now I've been out of university for 7 years. I'm working. Sell the same GTA. It's ridiculous. And admittedly, a good game. I love that game. So like, it's not like it's bad. It's just when something works or something works. And look at what happened with Red Dead, Red Dead didn't do well. Red Dead two. It sold well, but it's online, didn't do well, and so there were just like, oh, it's not working. We'll just keep doing GTA and Red Dead online's dead and pretty dead, I guess. But GTA. They shut it down. Didn't they? They didn't shut it down. They'll never no, it's not shut down. I think it's like they've got most of their patches. There's no big plans like there are for GTA will probably still have plans. GTA just released a new heist missions and stuff with storyline with cutscenes. Like, it's obvious it's working. Wow. Now, in regards to math studios. What do you and what the other people that work there do exactly? So whenever I was growing up, I watched a lot of Disney. I played a lot of video games, you know. I was just your typical kid, but I always had this motivation in me to make a difference in the world. You know, be creative. And that's just something I guess it's never died out since I've been a kid. So whenever I originally was growing up in middle school or whatnot, I got introduced my first ever game was that I believe it was Mario kart on the Nintendo DS and I loved it. That's all I played. And then as I went into middle school, I got introduced in Minecraft, as you can tell by my name, shadow Meyer. That's one of the games that really had a huge impact on my life. And I played the crap out of that game. Like any chance I could get, I played the crap out of that game. And along the line, I was also in banned the kid that I was doing band camp with introduced me to Minecraft, great kid. I still talk to this day. He's like one of my best Friends. We stayed up on the phone together to make up my name shadow miner. And if it wasn't for him in that phone call, I would have never had the name I have right now, so that's awesome. But yeah, I grew up playing Minecraft and Nintendo in middle school. And then I watched a documentary because I had this brain. I was so curious about everything..

An industry analyst from game industry biz that I'm aware of Mario kart 8 deluxe is still selling very well on a Nintendo Switch, but Mario kart 9 is an active development and it comes with a new twist and Nintendo could tease it this year, so the reason I put this in the notes is because I mean Mario kart is obviously the goat it's The Godfather of the cart genre. But what do you guys want to see? What do you want to say for Mario kart 9? Let's pretend like it is confirmed. What do you guys want to see from it? NFTs. All right, get outta here. NFT cards. What is the code? I mean, I would love to see the double dash element come back in some form or fashion. It doesn't have to be the main aspect, but you should have the ability to run double dash if you want it to. They say this is a brand new mechanic, like it's never been in the it just said with a new twist. Tomorrow what the hell that means? I would like to see them make double dash two. "Yeah here's my theory about the new lead switch okay. It's the new intendo switch. Oh led model in parentheses. That's my theory. Fact that they were just like oh led model in parentheses means that all of my display whining over the past. Ten years in the show has been completely validated. And that all people care about is contrast ratios. I was right. Okay yeah no. I buy it so i mean my theory as they called it and model so that everyone was crystal clear no pun intended. That there's nothing else knew about this. The processor is the same. The power is the same. There are a couple of things that are worth noting. One is the kick stand is no longer a cheap plastic piece of crap that falls off what you blow a light breeze at it. I gotta hate the extent of the original switch. It's a good kick stat in the style of a surface kick. Stan where can like go at any angle and it has sixty four gigs of internal storage instead of a measly thirty two. So you can maybe more than two games on it Which seems good other minor stuff. They added away. Where ethan at port into the dock and the speakers are a little bit louder but the main news is at the screen is now a full seven point o. Inches and it is lead instead of lcd. But it's the same resolution. It is still seven twenty. That's correct and it's still does ten eighty when you plug it into a tv. It won't go to four k. The seven inch seven. Twenty p ten tunnel screen is going to be like. Maybe i was wrong. I don't know that it's tile it might be rgb. I'm still waiting for confirmation on this. I took a loop to it. I'm just saying seven. Twenty p at a larger screen. You're not going to get more pixel density you. You're getting less pixel density. And i played mario kart and i played breath of the wild. Both games are very good at looking nice on seven. Twenty p right. The way that they're visually designed like if it's not it's fine at that pixel density. I think at seven twenty p and so they looked good to me and the screen looks way brighter and crisper to me like tour vibrance and if you look at like the grass or whatever like you could see the pixels you can see the like if you look like really thin lettering. You can start to see the jagged a little bit you know like. It's not anti alias. As well as maybe should be. But here's the bottom line. It's bigger and brighter and therefore nicer the end fair and kick standards better and the stand is way better. Yeah i would not upgrade. I'm gonna upgrade. Because i switched over to switch light and that was a huge mistake and i regretted every day my life. I want go back to the bigger screen. But if you've got a regular switch especially one of the like slightly newer switches that have the better battery life. I think this is a very difficult upgrade to justify because the joy cons of the same the processors the same there's a little more interest storage but whatever build quality is basically the same. It seems like it's a little bit better. Built the kick stand helps. There's a a glossy puzzle around the screen instead of a matte. Finish puzzle around the screen. Whatever but at this point like getting into such tiny little details like the power button is oblong instead of round and it's resist in a different way like okay. Is it nicer. I would say like the big knock me on. The original switch is like it's pretty in in in wild like a masterpiece. The hardware is kinda cheap but just all the way. It's like kinda cheap. I'll say it feels like fifteen percent nicer than the original switch. Probably original switch. Along until i compare it but which is also beat up from us. I have no idea what the single be like when it's beat up from us but you know brand new onto the box. It's a nice gadget. Does it say smaller vessels like like i would say the originals which is kind of plastic. Like yeah. I would say the plastic again. It's like it to me. Seem like fifteen percent nicer. Plastic like the matt finish is a little bit more mad than the original one but also using the original one for years and so maybe just got worn down. Yeah that there's like a lot of rumors that it would be a switch pro that we'd be new chip. Do you have any sense of wide. None of this came to pass. I mean there's the theory that the like the chip shortage has messed everything up right. But i don't know. I mean there's also just like people keep expecting nintendo to act like other companies other council makers they never do and they have not done it again. They like they just this is what nintendo does release tiny little changes to the consoles. That are going well for them and they might get some people to upgrade. But it's just like it's another skewed and put in the store. That's how they do it. I haven't used my switch for a little bit. But i don't know i feel like there are so many good games that don't require really intense hardware at this point and the switches really really good at playing them. Like i don't know this is also just speaking as someone who has other consoles. I don't need like i pretty much. Play the switch exclusively as a hand held. And i don't need to like play aaa console games but i kinda like. I'm kind of happy with the switch. I have now like. I would be perfectly happy with being like a slightly iterative upgrade. So the idea of doing this upgrade is that people will upgrade or you'll get new people to buy switch right. I mean those. Are those your yeah. I think it's more the latter. I think it's people who haven't bought a switch yet. We'll go to the store. And i can't wait i'll i will hundred percent the main campaign in this game again in multi-player I love game so much. And the boundaries. Fury stuff looks amazing. Didn't read the preview. The browser appearance is like the blood moon. Zelda in that it's like a world event that happens and when bowser is there he'll he'll attack you and his attacks can open areas or destroy blocks otherwise you wouldn't be able to get into so it's like it's a scary event but it's also welcome event and so the thing he wasn't able to do is to actually do the battle with presumably. That's what you build up to and that's how you end the level. It's really cool looking. There are so. I don't know how much you want to be. I think he said that you can get him to go away by picking up one of the collectibles called the cat shine and he said there were a lot of similarities and call backs to mario sunshine but no no flood or anything like that and there's an item you can pick up and then do gigantic tax battle with bowser area. Yes you collect. Shines basically like in sunshine which is a different from obviously three d world in the way it set up but yeah it is. It is very curious right like that. Something it it does feel kinda curious that there's this brand new side mode because nintendo didn't need to do this you know like a lot of their Ports have from the you era have been a lot more straightforward. They've added some stuff here and there into like pick men and obviously we got an additional stuff in I guess what was it in. Mario kart today add battle mode eventually on. Yeah we got additions on the switch for sure. Yeah this this game is fantastic on its own and it doesn't feel short on content at all so i'm super happy. They decided to add even more. "While the buzzes around the next gen consoles launch. This week i want to talk about handheld those popular in the eighties. It's making a comeback game and watch super. Mario brothers roger chang and this is your daily charge with me is gaming expert and amateur or semi professional magician scottsd- on welcome scott totally amateur so I grew up with a few these game and watch handhelds but for some of our perhaps younger listeners. Explain what these things are. Yes game and watch came before the game boy. This was this was an intended. I four and a hand held games and they were these black and white. Lcd things that only played one game per device and they beeped. They had these static kind of like animation screens. That would just do only so many preset animations. And i love the heck out of these things when i am old so when i was in camp in the eighties. That was my handheld game. So i had a whole bunch of these that i would play and they get me through my summers. Yeah i remember my parents picking up a couple from one ethnic around hong kong like being a kid. I didn't really want to go out and see if they wanted to like. Read a book or play. Play this And i remember one where. I think i was catching bombs going back and forth Remember yeah there were pre rendered images and basically like as you've moved the control pad who would switch one image where you're like cashing bomb left catching the right. It was just. It was super simplistic. But i spent hours playing these things now. Nintendo is coming back. it's the same sort of hardware. It looks the same but obviously plays a little bit differently. Tell me a bit about the new game and watch the providers yes. I'm a total game in watching urge. All say nintendo's revisited game and watching the past with these little versions of those games on the d. s. in three d. s. And i have a compilation. On the game boy micro that i still play. Which is a toll throwback. I lead into that because if you've been following game and watch that's not what the this new one is. It does have one game and watch game called ball which was the first game and watch game. It's just as juggling character catching balls. It's pretty simple but the rest of it. They they put the whole super. Mario brothers and super-party brothers the laws levels on this little hand-held which are like the complete games with a color screen That you played a million times So that's really cool but that's not like the game and watch as we remember it. It's a whole new idea. And yeah so how how Beyond that is it. Just the the first game really like what. What exactly are you getting in this game. And watch him multiple. You mentioned those two games as anything else though. That's it you're getting getting mario brothers. Mario brothers the loss levels which is like japan japanese marbles to. That's been in compilations and you get those on the nintendo switch online service and this ball game and then that's it plus like this watch mode which is the time like these. These things always used to tell time but if you press that you get to see the animated time and you can just watch. Mario jump this time. It's cute but it's like just a total collector's item. Like you don't need that. It's like it's just and that's the entire package and you turn it on and you play it and it does that in. That's that's game and watch an h- how much would go for these fifty dollars so that's not cheap. How that is that is not cheap. That's a lot more than what we spent for these things. You could argue that. They're giving you a little bit more but it's not that much more now but it set up to be a total collector's item in nintendo has been doing this year and they're dipping their toes more into this with limited edition game a lot of people. Compare it to disney's vault. You know where they kind of released often put it away. The supermarket three classics is limited time game supermarket. Thirty five on the switch can only be played through march. This is apparently only being sold through march and the classic was was kind of a limited time thing too even though it hung around for a while. So that's the preface that this is a total collector's item thing. You don't need it. I do irrationally love it. But that's because i love game at If you're a game and watch nerd. This is the first game in watch. They've made in a long time. But it just made me wish. They had made this a real game in watch museum rather than it's like a document. Retro is what i said in the article you know like it. They stuck another richer experience into the richer experience that that wasn't originally part of it right so it wasn't it's not really an authentic retro experience. Just like it's but it's multiple retro experiences both physically in the actual game but they're just different so there's a bit of a contrast there there is although of course as a kid in the eighties. I would have killed the have this. This would have been an absolute miracle too because all those game and watch games. Were trying to make the games you played at the arcade like donkey kong but the versions they had were all like blimpy and like not the thing you go okay. It's like it's like the tiger electronics games. Like you know all those little. Lcd games were trying to make you think of the better experience. So the full. Super mario brothers on a little thing i would of loved but we also can get a lot more now. So that's cool i. It's just. It's a different concept. I will say that the feel of it like the red rubber buttons on this game and watch are totally the red rubber buttons that were on those game and watches way back like the feel of. It reminds me a of that little childhood device. That's important that idea of getting the feel of these things afford that nostalgia work but once to stall war off or maybe it's still going on for you but in terms of expensive you can take this stall out of the equation. Like what are you left with your left with a little thing. That please mario brothers. And you know these things already like saying like these things exist like you can play pacman or tetris. Or you know you. Stores are full of these little mini arcade devices. That you can you can get and so. This is not new. Sega has one but the game year. That's is in japan. The super tiny game gears that that play games In their all absurd. So what you do get is at least the way it feels and controls is really comfortable like it's actually a really nice little experience. Playing mario brothers for what it's worth like. It's not some of these. You never wanna play the game on that little tiny thing but i appreciate the ergonomics of it. And it's kind of like a little stress reliever but you know for fifty dollars. That's a lot. If it was twenty bucks you might say like okay. Totally i would. I would just get one. Keep on my desk. I think this is one of those things that for intended fan clearly and that's what nintendo is increasingly leaning into is dot for the nintendo fan. And i think that's exactly what this symbolizes in a year. Where nintendo doesn't have a new console. Yes good point via. This is part of their big mario. Thirty fifth anniversary right. Yeah it is and and so. They've been making a big deal that also like this year. We don't know what nintendo would have had in this calendar year. I don't think there would have been a new switch. Even even if there hadn't been krona virus in the beginning of the year intendo had had said that. But it like going back to new console thing when we have so many people excited about the playstation five and xbox series x and nintendo made a tremendous success story with animal crossing. There's kind of like a. What's the next chapter. Nintendo doesn't have it yet so there's a little bit of despite the incredible success selling the switch like their sales numbers. Keep keep being really high. It they're kind of treading water to like what's the next thing after that. They don't need have next thing but we're expecting. They might have new switch like a pro version next year. It at the four year mark. It seems like that would be kind of overdue and then the the scanwatch is more of a one often think this is something. That nintendo nintendo Tater released like a line of these retro. Fifty dollar handhelds. I think it would be a total intendo. Move and a shrewd wine. The like do a bunch of them because you know collector shoes. I think a lot of people kinda see the stuff in that territory where you have these things and much like the original game and watch. That's what they were like. Where they had different versions. That came out over the years. And maybe you got the one that had pinball maybe oil panic maybe you had some other special version and then if you missed the first one may be the next one i mean. It seems totally nintendo that they would make zelda would make metro wine and they would just keep going down the line but intendo also drops the ball on doing the next step that you think they would do on some things to put this thing on next and they don't so they're very hard to read with this stuff. I would expect that but I think i think they're also just testing the waters with like even put put the mario kart in that territory. While the that mario kart live home circuit is a very cool camera-equipped a are racing car. Another kind of collector's item. Thing nintendo done this for many years to be clear. A Prescription Video Game for ADHD
"Spaceman rides down an icy River on a jet fuel draft avoiding obstacles and collecting tokens. It looks like a scene out of Mario Kart or any number of popular video games. But this is endeavor RX the first fda-cleared video game for childhood p h d so what makes Endeavor special the hand eye movements that relies on Earth ought to exercise circuits that involve attention and this Theory did translate into small but real improvements in attention in 5 clinical trials involving over six hundred children with ADHD compared to Placebo, which was a simple puzzle video game 47% of children who played Endeavor RX for four weeks saw improvements and attention and reaction time on cognitive testing. So about half of them got better, but they also got better on the placebo group only in that case. It was about a third of them who got better now. It's important understand that no one not even the achille company that makes this video game and not the FDA is suggesting that this game treats ADHD, it only improved performance on cognitive testing and it's not clear how or even if that translates to changes in the classroom in the social world to put all this in a broader context. We've been recommending that children with ADHD play outdoors and take up something that requires physical Mastery like karate dance or sports for years. So this isn't too far off the usual path dexterity games improve cognitive performance an older adults and in people with dementia, it just seems that doing things physically with your hands any task that requires you to constantly adjust based on real-world feedback. Things like darts piano or even Tetris is good for the brain. But if Endeavor RX improves attention, what about other video games that we don't know about the Wii Sports sweets particularly. We bowling has good evidence for age-related cognitive decline, but it's never been studied in ADHD that I know of in some way Endeavor RX is a typical video game, but it does have two differences that make it stand out verse the game adjusts in real time. It gets harder or easier depending on your skill level that helps keep the child attention next the game shuts off after 30 minutes of play per day the children who used it liked Endeavor RX. I wanted to play it longer but the early shut off prevents addiction and reminds us of an important principle for brainhealth. The brain likes variety and does best with moderation dead.

Actually physical as you know Nintendo, less to do these different things as far saying that just a regular video game. Super Mario, brothers. Thirty five, which is going to include thirty five players online battle game that's going to be very interesting to see I'm GonNa maybe delve into that one Super Mario Three d world plus browsers fury, and then on top of that to to add extra. Cuteness a Super Mario Brothers game, and watch which I thought was really Uberpool ripped takes me back to the old days on that one. I mean they just had some great announcements when it concerns the the thirty fifth anniversary of Mario that bundle of Super Mario Brothers. All Stars just with Super Bowl Sunshine Superman sixty four super. Mario Galaxy coming to the switch in a single package. I understand Nintendo making some chunk of change thereby rebuff bundling a lot of the stuff and repackaging lobby stuff. But my gosh or Mario isn't a bad thing I mean was it was cool. I. Liked the the Three D. all star remake. I am really excited about that by one beef with it. Is that why make it a limited release? They're saying you can only get it between September eighteenth and thing March thirty first or something, and then you won't be able to get it anymore. So that was more get it for now. I guess you know if they're doing like going back in the vault type thing but like that just felt feels really weird to me because switch like switch games don't have issues selling like looking at Mario Games, they go on sale. Ten dollars off. That's on a good week so. I. Don't think they'd have any issues. People would continuously by it as for the game itself I am excited I am going to get my preorder in this week I don't like I guess they I would have preferred like a more remastered version of Mario Sixty four because if you look at the video of it, it has the black bars on the side they kind of did A. I guess an up convert much like a a BLU ray player will up convert a A. DVD. So they did that bill excited about super excited about Super Mario Three D world that was one that I wanted to play but just never had the opportunity to S- announced coming back. So that's cool. Really interested not gonNA say excited but interested in that Mario Kart, the kind of augmented reality type thing which is really cool because you're driving the cart and it's creating this track on your screen that you have to follow. It's keeping your car from running into things so. Really Cool. But yeah, a lot of good stuff coming out of that. Well, what are your thoughts more Mario is not a bad thing. So whether or not as the the new Mario Kart that thirty? Online battle Mario the reimagining of the the bundle package that they're putting with all the older Mario Games in there. Yeah it's an attendance way of revisiting that nostalgia and making the chunk of change but we keep buying it. We keep sucking in we keep eating it up. I like this more than the previous game but also explain why my score is lower than the previous reviews for I'm only a couple of hours into the new one though and I'm really enjoying it. Isn't that a pain though I'm sure everyone everyone deal with that before it's like. Well, I like it more than the swine they gave that one a really high score. So nintendo released some financial data recently and we got a lot of INFO basically Emma crosses new highs sales have reached twenty, two million, which is crazy. It's insane right and can anyone guess what is beating it out for being the best selling? which game I'm sure every their Gal Mario Arts eight deluxe only other one. It's better that it's outsold smash and Zelda and Mario, Odyssey, which is insane yet Mario. Odyssey isn't even in the top five bestselling switch games anymore, which is also crazy. Yeah. I know people people always consider Games Lynn, ZELDA TO BE SYSTEM SELLERS Super Mario in the end. It is about booking on smash brothers animal crossing Mario, Kart those I usually at the top of every generation unless you have like a we sports or some odd ball game thrown into the middle bed like what's even more notable as you know, animal crossing is not a complete reinvention of animal crossing. So it's a little bit like an animal crossing deluxe, right? Like it's the best of all. The Games just like Mario Kart is not a new game. It's actually a re release of the last one. It'd be nice to see what what happens when they make a really new Mario Kart or a completely new game like that I? Think of all the the years to have to coast down the the fall lineup of not a whole lot. They're having animal crossing this year really helped kind of like ride that coaster of like what we we have a lot of profits this year. So maybe we'll have a giant released settle planned for this year that we know of. Looking, good for them. It's so lucky that came out when it did in in a really dark way because I think in a normal year, would we have seen animal crossing have this kind of response where I think which the stat fifty percent of all new consoles were playing animal crossing that during its release but it's at a time when it's coming out where people need to fill their time with something new and exciting and such an accessible game and everyone was playing it and celebrities were playing it, and so it's like during the pandemic when you're you're trying to fill all that time, it makes a lot of sense why this specifically. Blew up in such a big way especially more than all the previous installment. Did it really did get the corona bump but if you look at any sort of trend data available out there, if you look at twitter released a report on what people searched the most for or you know what topics were trending, the most like animal crossing on all these lists at this chart shows Google search interest in the biggest games in all of the Games on the list multiplayer games like call of duty war zone League of legends like any like any of the four, any of the big games and then animal crossing comes in goes. Like. CRANSTON. But it's not but it's not a competitive game where you're constantly, you know like you're measuring your rain or looking for versus yes you are very competitive with your island. "I have a new game in home for the Nintendo switch and I have been waiting to talk about it. Louise's mansion no. Do you have that and yet here. That's very good to know. It's a fitness game. Called Ring Fit. God You have this. This is the the ring. Yeah yeah this is. This is the the we fit for them. Switch the shake weight for the switch right so apparently there is something caller one Thai independent edit. What are you talking about? There's only one ring you can't work both sides that's how it works so apparently there's something called pilates. Okay tell me more and would you like to know more and they use a ring for a lot of the exercises and Nintendo took this ring which is like a foot and a half in diameter. So we're not talking about like hula-hoop style. Daio big ring. This is literally like discs of Tron style like Frisbee. This is bigger than that those bigger. But it's not solid is a hoop yes and Dan. "Nintendo switched light has been out for about a month and Scott's been living and breathing this console Scott what's it been like using the right and are you able to forgive it for some of the trade offs for the older or the the larger more complete switch of having a hard time with that and I just said in a video today here it is and I've been commuting with it I really really wanted to make the switch light the main system intendo never really intended for that to be the case the problem is that as I had that would be the case you have to switch to a new mindset with the other switch so now this is hand held only and that's totally fine and I we love the hardware if you're going to be using this just as a kind of sequel to the three D. L. ing its own games but the whole idea of the switch was to be versatile and flex bones or you're losing the multiplayer and I still miss that with my kids at home connecting it to a TV that's the multi-player ailment because you're not going to gather ran a small I mean that functionality why it's the switch when you lose that functionality is it really really is which now and it's in your losing same real multiplayer which is which is the whole thing ah mashed brothers by Mario Kart the second thing that's really annoying and it really started to dig at me.
