"Couldn't throw any of them. I know there was that kind of race. Yeah it's one of those races where. I didn't cross anybody out and you used to tease me about picking. The horse was the only horse that i i didn't have crossed out. Yeah but this is the exact opposite. I didn't cross anybody out in this race. So you are one hundred percent correct in my eyes that anybody could win this I kind of lean towards straw into gold but for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with handicapping other than he does have my top tur- figure but I remember being in church one time and the priest was talking about. Rumpelstiltskin is the only person who could ever change straw into gold and my feed man. Angel muna was in the front row pugh and as we were leaving church i walked over and i said you know the priests was wrong. You've turned straw into gold for me. That's great busted up laugh. that's fantastic but Yeah that was. That was a great day. So i'm going with straw into gold. Yeah i seriously could not. I don't know how dr jack certainly as the pedigree to handle tariff. That's the number two. You know you need a horse like dancing with the stars to kind of step up a little bit off to race win streak and state. Brad's dreamers disease. Just got beat against st breads. Blue big lead to step dancer and You know what it's like. In fact these horses would all need to step up but certainly straw into gold has races shifting sands has racist ranger fox has races. The problem is there's not. it's not like they're so dominant that these horses that need to step up. Step up that big. The horse wind up with speaking of sadler's joy is his little brother will fees dina ghost so wolfenstein. Ghost broke his maiden going. Seven furlongs on dirt of all things and we didn't see him a long time. He came back in the peter pan and we kind of had no chance in the peter pan and anyone. I don't know what kinda he got last time. I was not teaching finest moment. I can tell you that. But he was running against public sector an annex probably running against better horses now. Jose ortiz is going to be back aboard. He's going to get a better. He's going to run against more a field more on par with his talent right now. I believe he's going to be a square price. I think he has blue sky as you would like to say so in a wide open affair. Give me a horse. Middling price the number three wolfenstein and goes race. Number nine goes as the better talk now. And at delmar on sunday the shared beliefs at a flat mile. It'll go as race number nine. It's got a field of six. Got a couple of interesting ones though. It's got medina spirit. You kentucky derby first place finisher and it's got you send anita derby winner rock your world to my face. I'm gonna go with a horse that crossed the wire first in the kentucky derby medina spirit You know it's been working good ready for this race. It's only a mile. Johnny all those things. Why not yeah social supplemented this race. They were they. Were talking of the hassle early on the in the after the preakness and obviously never materialized and he kind of stepped up he. He worked on june fourteenth. He didn't work for another six weeks. And then after that. I guess bob baffert kinda circle this spot. I don't know what to do with them. I really don't i don't know how much pressure is gonna take from horse like stiletto bay from like the great one you know. I'm a big believer that he's a need elite type and and even last time he showed you that when he got to the leading the preakness he still couldn't He couldn't finish the job. It's a little bit of a different story in here tomorrow. What's rock your world gonna do. I've got a little goofy team. Merchants to upset the apple a big way this worst ran really well on his debut at saratoga when finished mine reinvestment risk then. He broke his maiden. He didn't run for a while. He turfed he put him back on dirt and got the money now. He's in a stretch him out around. Two turns is doug on the ellen mario gutierrez. He sits just off the pace. I'm going to try team. Merchants for the big upset on sunday race. Nine goes as the shared belief all twelve in the books time now for the naira bats best.

"What's the plan for super. Yeah i mean. I agree with you. Know ricardo roads such great rates. And she's a very good. Telly her rates when she runs steak belmont. What's impressive This raced in setup quite the same way for us but you know look and she beat a lot of good philly very loaded philly. Finish behind right now. I'm gonna see how she trains you know for. The next couple of weeks was shot. They moved. And i may be wrong about the steep. But i always remember the prior being belmont. But it's now saratoga so it's one of the last days here and You know. I'm probably going to do that with her runner if if if all those runner they're nice apparently that iran on just give you a quick watches rates or saddam. Extremely high on of course called mechanic a maiden He was third beaten like a head or neck. And there's only start here at saratoga. He got himself. We got the dirt started hitting me drop back about twelve fifteen links and i thought he had no shot and tyler road me circle. The field was flying on in actually thinking about running in the whole poor. Wow wow right. Now i mean there's it's it's it's going to be an interesting race. That's for sure won't be the hopeful. Looks like it's gonna be a good race. But i think the source is really good horse. So we'll think it's an opportunity and there's plenty of plenty of merit For that you know kind of daring do so. And and with a big reward mile mark a tremendous weekend From from the base of of the north way all the way Across the throughway to Toronto and lots of other good things happening at atlas and we brought up gulfstream and We're going to be a big flourish here the last two and a half weeks of saratoga and Best the luck and we'll we'll talk to you soon. Undoubtedly all right. Well thanks for having steve. That was great mark. Cassie everybody and we're gonna stay here. Because i mentioned waiting in the wings. And i mentioned earlier this morning. About the long acres mile have important it is to the pacific northwest equine community and Even though mike pugh which already had himself a along acres trophy on the mantle A nice to get another one and the emotional scene involving rocco bowen coming back up to the region and He was just Overcome to win the long acres mile. Mike joins us now giddy up stables and the kuzan gelding background. A winner on sunday. Early evening at emerald. Congratulations the mike. The was that scene just watching on video and you can. You can tell that you know this. This race always produces an outpouring. I it. I can't think of a race in a part of the country that has got such meaning to the majority of those involved. Yeah you know. It's an amazing rate than if it's something i'll go all over travel all over the country and when i tell people i'm originally from seattle that's the first thing. They mentioned that any track. I've been to somebody knows about the lawmakers mile And you know and unless you experience it we're on a much smaller scale out here but it equivalent to In the pacific northwest kentucky. Derby you know it's it's a really big there's eighty eighty six runnings of it Eighty six years of history there And it's just a real special deal and then you know with The connections bob rondeau. Who's was the voice of the washington. Huskies for thirty seven years He was my very first client When i first started training And he's been around here and he's been the big fan and always dreamed of this race as well as rocco ball and so to do that for both of those guys it was just amazing Just a lot of fun unbelievable and and you would one ten years ago give or take. Yeah taylor said yes sir. yeah Mario gutierrez and Throwing his glenn. Todd who actually finished third in the race five star general so That was special but this meant quite a bit more. Just just the connections and and the nothing i mean. Take nothing away from winning it with with glenn but this original trainer troy taylor. They we rehab all their horses at our training center and we break all the babies and everything and he basically was a program when for me They just came down for two weeks. Prior to the race for this force background was much more of a stamp on it. If you so to speak and you know until you said that. I had forgotten that but but that was part of the story line at the time. A about that however i it was a big maybe was as big a winner. Bigger for for for your uncle for big ivan Mario i mean twenty-five under kramer was a big deal for ivan because he can tell us abolish campaign on anything. it didn't take much but Yeah it was great In back then. And i mean when i say we tr- we shuttle horses back and forth between each other so it was a team effort. You know and so didn't mean a lot but this one here kind of had more of a stamp on it and It was just a know there was a dramatic race. It was just all the drama is in it and it was just It was just unbelievable. It was great. And i just after the race. I knew bob in iraq. We're going to be motion. And i just said i'm turning this over to them here and i'm watching the interview. How how. I love it. And for those that haven't seen the race a it seemed. It seemed impossible that that that phone. I mean it's like he will the horse up yeah and then also Track that day was playing if he weren't in front inside. If you if you're in front inside the quarter paula. Game over you know and we had a horse at the eighth pole. Run down that we draw actually drawing clear at the eighth pole that win win ribbon was still drawing clear by Then is actually truly started just riding for trying to get up for second money. I'm going to get second money and way back here. You know But it was Somebody will them there. And it was great and You know rock will never gave up on the horse. He kept riding in the horse never gave up and it was the thrilling win. Background is co zan. Gelding bred by the furnishings and What do we know what. What can you tell us about You know the the acquisition and and the development of this four year old. We saw him last year. A little bit He we've purchased it last As a two year old actually I can't remember the name of that. Maybe you can remember. He had a horse that he owned Broke it's made by about nineteen links And brennan admit the time brent slur no at gulfstream park and then they bought a snatch. He sold i called gallium christina jones.

"I remember we had van on the show the next day to talk about his win like to the rates for people in the northwest You know does it have the way it used to probably not because it just doesn't have the money that used to but i wanted to give. Its do talk about. Because i feel like it's just such a neat race and like i said there's some neat stories papas. Golden boy has been an insanely good sprinter there this year and has won three straight races including two stakes races by open links and he goes insanely fast forty-three in change. They always go fast at emerald. But he kennedy kerry at the mild. I would argue this race. That has carried horses before In terms of horses that maybe wouldn't get a mile but sometimes they end up fallen short. He's one i would think would probably get a little short in the end. I just don't know that you can carry it that far There is some speed in the race horses at like to be close up. Wind ribbon basically has been just chasing around pop school boy in their local starts. Peter miller's horse any port in a storm another one that likes to be close up early including while sprinting. It's there's a lot there's a lot of sprinters in this race and there's a lot of horses that are gonna look to you know to carry their distance a mile. I think background for bike. Pitch and rocco bowen is certainly shameless. He's proven a to turn mile winning it oakland in an allowance but You know his last three been pretty good last to have been on the The polly arlington so Mario gutierrez going up to ride for glenn. Todd the north american thoroughbred horse racing. Glenn todd is a longtime leading owner and recently very top trainer at hastings park. He's won the mile before he was kind of. Who brought mario to prominence. If you remember. Mario you know. He's he's kind of a father figure to mario at hastings Mario made the move to southern california obviously worked out pretty well. He's had a great careers. One to kentucky derbies but glenn was a big part of. Mario getting started As a jockey and having the success up in vancouver that really sprung him down to california so really excited for the mile. We'll probably talk about that on tuesday show because it'll happen like at eight o'clock my time over here and so we'll have already done the weekend. Recap show but that's okay. Because i need something to talk about on tuesday we will Take a quick break. We come back the jury guys will join us then after that. We'll talk some more arlington. Some saratoga and it is a weekend preview dishes of the jason morse race. Podcast brought to you by twin. Spires.

"You can't the the analogy. I always uses announcers are like ice cream. Flavors like one person's chocolate is another person's pralines and cream is another person's vanilla taste. It's it's just tone on the ear. It's all that kind of stuff. And i was telling somebody you know. I had the job tampa had announced recently and my friend was asking me. She's like do people ever like get mad that you got hired. I was like somebody will. I mean it's just it's impossible to please everybody in such a subjective. Kind of you know kind of thing. That's the exact words subject and You know it's tough to please everybody Going back backtracking is congratulations on getting that tampa. Job richard been there for years and nobody wants to be up gig follow. I mean you're going into a spot that's gonna be tough to replace but i know you'll You'll fit in. Well i was gonna ask who is who is calling the rate because obviously hastings was exhibition. Park back. When you were getting going. Who was calling. When you started at frazier over hastings. Well i if you wanted to go right back to the story you know we. We knew that the legendary jack short was gonna retire because that was pretty friends with them and of course dancing to go to be cit in broadcasting and you know You can see you know. They want to hire you as six or exhibition park. You know i was twenty twenty. One does play baseball summer. Trip samuel down on sundays. Because there's no sunday racing here and i said i don't want to tie up my summers. You know nothing else. So i just let that go on and jack retired. They hired by doug greet for. I want to say twelve years. Maybe at at exhibition park and then he retired or resigned. Or whatever happened to the came up and i decided to apply at Fraser and cloverdale da- point for ten years so But it's a lot different. Let me tell you not know i. I've only. I've only called standard once. And that was that was up at century. Downs in calgary and it is different beast. It's obviously it's a little easier insensitive unfold slower but it's harder to see the colors because they're behind the horse like it's just a it's a whole different language. I kept saying running which i got yelled at by somebody for roy. Call runners not running. No no so so you quit. We have a little bit of an overlap here. pc between fraser and hastings. I have to be careful as to what i say. Because they'll be racing the same time say in september and i'll be going wednesday friday at fraser and saturday sunday in the old days a couple of years ago in. Hey thing so you have to be careful. you don't make up your running in your racing's and In the sulky and you know this kind of stuff. So it's a challenge. And i see one of our compatriots like will chamberlain from evangeline to harness that hoosier so I'm sure he had a bit of a transition to so it's not as easy and you know the the biggest thing i don't know why they don't standardize the colors. Yeah because what one man's black south of is not the black saddle pad artist and why they can't get together to try and make it easy for the public to find a number and say okay. Number one is always x. Number two is always white in know But to each his own you just have to roll with the punches and try and figure out that got me at At century there was a white towel. Move in and i was like. Oh it's it's the two and them nope that's the three crafts. But you know. I didn't put many expectations on myself for that day. So i knew there was going to be some mistakes like that. I wanna talk about hastings in the sense. That i feel like hastings doesn't get the love it deserves is like being kind of a beautiful place and i mean it's an unreal backdrop that you guys have there and i don't know if it doesn't but every time i like post pictures or video of their people like wow that's hastings like it's a great place to spend a day at the races it certainly isn't and i have the best obviously Bias but i have the best anywhere because i do have that in letting the mountains in the backdrop I don't think pretty your track around. I mean dell mars bigger tracking. They've got the pacific ocean to the left there. At the top of the stuff we know what a great place to spend a summer day and even some of the friday nights like you know really kind of magical sunsets behind The mountains that cassidy's kind of hugh over the track in the late july before we start getting into the tilling group of september october. Yeah you and you know again. Pre cova i mean i. I've gone up there for many a friday or sunday or saturday card. I mean you guys get good crowds on track food trucks. It's just it's it's such a cool place to go and you know i. I think i feel like the northwest. Daily double hitting emerald and hastings in the same weekend is a is a great trip if folks are considering race track trips at all you know thirty plus years of getting a call some amazing horses and races up there. Do you have some some favorites over. The years of horses is a racist. You've got nicole up there. Well you know The first derby cars. That'll be probably the same with your. You'll you'll pick out the most important races as the one that Kinda sticks so but Blue light one. The first derby for me here at the be gregory was trainer. I believe in you know. I was always at the the derby for years and then to get the call it with something else so at delta colleen and we're going back quite a few years but you know the source delta colleen. She always made this huge wide. Swooping move and jockey was legendary. Chris lowe steph but. Chris was on suspension or hurt that this one time and they had a subsitute writer brian johnson as it passed a half mile just before they went to the backstretch looking. And here's his delta colleague going to the front. I'm thinking no no. No no you're supposed to be at the back of the pack. I'm supposed to be calling you at the end. But brian coke. Stir home but it was It was quite a feat because I think he surprised everybody by getting a jump. On early it was funny grownup seattle. I always knew a lot of the names of the big horses because they would sometimes come down for racist but also like you know like the stakes races up. There would get named after him. And so you knew about delta colleen and the lord nelson would come down here. It was always a big thing. And that's always kind of one of the fun parts of the lawyer here. Smile is you guys usually send a representative and have set some some winning ones over the years. Of course you know herbie d- Went down there and one of the violet. Nice to see you know what i think more anything else. Thanks to see A humble kid lake Mario gutierrez start here. Acing said that up going on and winning to kentucky derbies and almost weep in the triple crown. Except you didn't get to run in the one so the the final break the belmont. So it's great to see stuff like that. I was gonna ask. Do you remember the one race. I called hastings. Still have it on tape somewhere on a dvd. I was gonna mail it down to you but you know you. You didn't want it. So i thought well what the heck. I went upstairs so dan for..

"Shaped up and who was ahead of him yeah he he took a big step forward and the preakness but he didn't run terrible in the burp blue grass. The bluegrass was actually best speed. Figured date and i wanna say. I don't have the in front of me. I think on on our scale at least he's taken a step forward and every single of his career and the biggest step was obviously the preakness where he wound up at a one twenty two which i think was attended twelve point. Jump off his book grants. And that's what you wanna from. Three year olds. They wanna see him. Keep developing now wondering if he has another big jump and if he wants to mile and a half You know who knows. Let's be honest. The belmont is a bed of bit of a crapshoot. Not only have the sources not run this far before. They're very unlikely to run again anytime unless they wind up. You know that's their class horse running in some great threes or something like that or they switched to grass. So it's always a little bit iffy for me. I never really wanna take short. Short prices. i'm not sure where i fall on him. He did get a great set up in the preakness. I thought the piece was really fast. But it sounds like he came from a million lengths behind. Either he was just kinda mid pack Toward the back but not way behind you know and it just a good solid race for you. It's the services of john velazquez to which Interesting i mean kind of makes. Actually i guess it doesn't make sense because you know pratt. He's got to choose between a couple of southern cal. Trainers right Doug o'neill and mike mccarthy and i don't follow southern cal is closely so i don't know if he's just if o'neill's guy or something i always think of o'neill's having mario gutierrez and in plenty of other type so i i guess interesting and they're right next to each other in the morning line so i mean it's it's probably just a bit of a pick em call. Yeah i was surprised. He was jumping off. But you know hot rod. Charlie ran ran really good. Recent derby I nothing wrong with the ride. He had a bit of a tough trip. Not quite as tough as essential quality. But i thought he just ran fine there. I got a similar speed figure. What round bauer got in the preakness. He ran a one twenty in the derby. So yeah i imagine it was a very tough call. And maybe one where he went with the trainer. He's talking more in the future. But i i really don't know i try not to read too much in the jockey decisions and just try to figure out why they made the choice that day and if they pick the right horse In this case. I i don't know i. It would have been a coin. Flip for me if i could drop one hundred pounds and get down the writing. Wait i always feel like the jockey stuff like makes it a little more important than like maiden or claiming type races because it seems like there. Maybe something unknown like hardware. Charlie bauer known commodities at this point. Yeah for sure. And that's kind of what. I was getting mad. I think for the most part in these stakes. The writer is almost always going to go with the worst say. Thanks gives them a chance to win. So in this case. I think it was probably a really close call either way so i'm not gonna read a whole lot into it. You know farmer at charlie was eight to one and had some lower speed figures than rob our. Maybe i'd give it a second look and maybe upgrade them a little bit here. It just doesn't mean a whole lot to make the. I want to ask you a little speed figure question because you mentioned with ron barracuda. The escalating figures on bridges. He takes just a tiny regression back from the juvenile to the el camino and then but other than that it is. An incentive pattern is making figures on the synthetic. Is that a difficult or different task in any way than doing it on dirt grass. I it's kind of in between really dirt is for the most part straightforward especially when the track stays the same obvious like i was lonestar monday in it rained two or three different times. That's a different animal but when third stays the same it's usually pretty straightforward because for the most part that paces honest on turf it's the complete opposite The piece oftentimes has more of an effect on the time. Then the surface itself does so much you know. I like to use the analogy. If if i go to walk a lap around the track run of app around the track. How can i run my fastest time. And normally the way i can run the fastest. It's just go really hard. And and finish the best. I can which is usually pretty ugly But that's not what happens in a lot of horse races on dirt it is but on turf. They tend to go slow and finished fast and sometimes go so slow. It's like trying to walk half the lap and fly home and you'll never get a good time so unsympathetic. It's kind of inbetween. Sprints are usually pretty straightforward. 'cause they're still ridden a lot like dirt routes can be almost like turf races. So you gotta be careful. Just trying to compare the the sprints and the routes more so once and then on dirt the Number four hot rod charlie. We talked about a little bit but coming in off a third place. Finish in the kentucky derby and you know kind of look poised to. I mean he was a big contender. I shouldn't say wasn't but he thought he was poised to win or go on with mandolin and before medina. Spirit kind of kicked back. He who really has never done anything that wrong..

"Thinking about opening your fingers moving forward putting your hands down. And letting a horse stuck to march on and sorta. It's not like they're asking them to run at the five eighths bowl but their their mindset is to start to go forward. And if you're in unison with yours which ninety nine percent of these guys are those sources are going to start marching forward. And it's just too soon. Yeah exactly and the you know the ability to think about what was it was the i guess it was many years ago but when the brooklyn was gonna be you know it was run on friday and and you know the suggestion was made repeatedly to you know to writers. Were coming in to try to get amount or There was somebody. i'm trying to think of. Who this who this was. I'd have to go back through some. Anybody remembers this. There was somebody that entered a horse. In fact i think in the brooklyn to get his belmont rider. A wasn't that yes. I think it was was probably with mario gutierrez and he. I think you're right And of course. I'll have another on friday. We were sitting right here. In fact scott hazelton was sitting with me and the camera and very famously The text came and that That story you know. I you know i. That's why i brought up scott did you. 'cause scott i think broke in as we were on the air and and that was around right i think that all kinds of was happening You might have had a hand in that Given your you know your hr tv partnership with With scott. I went to the barn that morning and the groom of horse was a groom. I knew from new york when i was an apprentice. As a matter of fact the first winter i wrote in california was for doug o'neill and the morning after i won the race by the barn with you know bagels donuts whatever and the groom of the philly i one on said. Hey come here. I want to show you something. He opened up his tack box and there was a picture of me on affiliate companionship of harborview phillies from nineteen eighty. One when i was an apprentice and he was the groom and he gives you. Don't remember i'm sorry. I don't you know we got to talk. And he wound up going out to california with last last. Pass you know bounce around a couple of stables up with doug o'neill where he comes into new york and he's grooming. I'll have another. So i go by the barn and now i know the guy and we're friends and what i shook his head is going gonna run. He's out you know. And he told me what was going on so i ran back to. Hr tv Amy's steve nager. Like what do we do with this like we. We've got it before and Ultimately said they already scheduled some sort of press conference Guess espn or something was handled so we didn't actually get to break it. But i was the first one here. It then i think i think there's a chance that you let scott know and scott basically bokan on on air because with me sitting right here and again because i forget if that's amazing i i did not. I did not know the back story. This is the rest of the story. Yeah i mean you know. It's just a crazy you know. Y- small universe racing you know. I remember flying into tokyo and got into the hotel. And i am right in the japan cup and i'm exhausted but you're kind of had a sword so i see i can't go to sleep. I went up to the bar on the top floor so have been drinking. Go back to my room. And i'll senate hear a voice. I know that wish. And there's turns collier bar up at the hotel like you run into people and and you know in just knowing that groom and and i'm sure i probably texted scott like right away because he's you know again. I was so blessed. When i started to work with scott and mcphee these people that you really really helped me to learn how to be an analyst. It'd be on air to to you know do the tv stuff. And he was my partner in crime and i was like scott. Schwarzen- out you're not going to run. It was unbelievable. Yeah i mean crazy crazy. You know there's so many great belmont memories. And i love this race. And by the way. I'm a big ron fowler fan. This made me a believer. I the way he does things wasting to lose i. He's for real this christmas the navy's not getting the credits deserves well and The the addition of johnny. I i mean not not that obviously not that the not attract. The you know wouldn't wouldn't have come and giving them a successful voyage but you know to get johnny Who's going to know. Exactly how much of him to use for position early on. I think Is is you know big legal. Would.

Xm online sports and at our website to the dot com. I i'm pausing. Because i literally thought i was going to sneeze the second that kc through the switch. I still got to pick up the morning where we left off a little bit yesterday and The to a late breaking stories as mentioned the greatest honor issue that is going to make make the top end of the derby. Hit list a little theater. That obviously he's got its ramifications not the least of which opening the door for somebody down further down The point list Very very disappointed For the atoms and particularly. I made that mentioned immediately shook as one himself derby and this really felt like a great opportunity. Even if you know even if you thought that greatest honor wasn't going to be fast enough for derby but the atoms of put tremendous amount into the game and in the meantime they do have a multiple graded stakes three year old winter. And he'll be he'll be back at this is You know one of those one of those things that we get on a regular basis and You hope it's the last issue of that kind really and It's it's nothing major other than You know the turnout and a little. You know a little freshening. So greatest honor has the season placed on On hold we'll talk about the the opportunity that it affords on a wider basis In in a minute. When i talk about the lexington field because there's some funny things going on On that front and of course the focus has been the last couple of days since we had the early. Draw for the arkansas derby. That's the the big point bonanza with the one hundred forty twenty and ten and the participants their concert tour hosier and number river and superstock. I mean among the those are the five of the of the sex. You've got last. Samurai taking a swing from the heels But the inclusion of some horses in that field for the lexington and some names that we knew that for instance that proxy and and unbridled honor were showing up and there were a couple of of interesting additions including visas baffert sending be so since a right away people. Were you know a buzz It would be. I be sosa's not the even with a big effort. I mean at twenty points is not going to put you right in the in the body of of the derby field however there are some horses that turned up in here most notably hockey dad and doug. O'neill this is. This is an interesting participant. Going back to the dirt and you did win an allowance at santa anita on the dirt going six back in february. Don't forget that game against cal breads but this is. This is a calibrate with a little something extra to paul rhythm home. Read by nyquist and dad ran well enough in the ruby to be third and that got him twenty points and so a a win by hockey dead absolutely puts him in the derby and even a second and eight points. Twenty eight is going to be knocking on the door. Depending on what everybody else you know the some of the ones that are unsure about participation. So that was a notable hockey dad was a notable participant joining in here The rest of that lexington field and it's a fun race richard. Baltimore has got that maiden winter From the beginning of march noble reflection the liam's map and swiftsure turns up in here who for to going back to november and january. Forgotten about this source. Frankly santa farms home-bred that Asmussen equines involved in so swift shore. These osas mentioned off the maiden win. The improvement still got gotta get faster but certainly came back and zipped nicely out of that win a fifty eight and four workout. The other day drayton dyke gets aboard. rat or teased by the way Aboard swift shore and have your castellano for noble reflection. It's my house who was sitting with one point It's my house bob. S out of that turf paradise win and this was a late nominee to the triple crown So you know. Chances are his participation here a prep for preakness unbridled honor. Todd pletcher told you here last week that the this is a a preakness concept five points. For the honor code mandy pope home-bred coming out of a a not terrible forth in the tampa bay derby you got leper peru writing back Mario gutierrez and hockey dad for doug o'neill as mentioned johnny v and proxy And this is. Strictly a speculative inclusion steadham said no decision on proxy for derby Until after this race. He's already if he wants to. Participate already can so. This is a an evaluative effort You would think if he runs great. He runs in the derby if he runs. Good here you'd think they might wait for preakness with him. Ultimate badger for dale romans and Jim becky and jerry is mr. I did notice that i saw baqi. I saw jim back. He's got a horse with the think with pleasure somewhere else that caught my eye but ultimate badger and corey landry Good second in the hutchison stretches back out so had wondered allowance. Churchill go to mile and a sixteenth as a two year old so ultimate badger commissioner colt. Who's okay might. Just be a steady developer king fury. Ken mcpeek making the three-year-old seasonal debut. Getting going here for circle three chimneys. This was the nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Saratoga you'll recall that Wanted i asking one the street sense. you know kind of ran around the track in the breeders cup and popped and stopped in the kentucky jockey club and then starring in my dreams dowa stewart and actually ran okay in the louisiana derby and had a career best fig and lewis iras aboard brian hernandez junior sticks with king fury by the way and started in my dreams draws the outside it seems like starting to my dreams either draws the rail or the widest post. He's he's five extremes. So there's your there's your derby picture with just the two races. Saturday left to determine The point standings. And you know the you know the situation that has got a few courses. Like as mentioned proxy rob our sainthood all pending crowded trade seemingly headed to preakness Way burn is on the list. The revised list that darren rogers put out yesterday afternoon after the greatest honor news and i also told you that rebel romance the godolphin. Uae darby winner is destined for belmont. So those two came off and so right away forces that were sitting you know twenty one and twenty two moved up and there's still room for more move up. I keep. I keep drawing the line below obese. Ohs frankly i think that he's actually the The bottom marker right now and jose technically as your might even be as well so we'll know everything we need to know.

"Second Start stretching out from a turf sprint. So that was the those. Were the the principles from from saturday. I and yesterday. I mentioned that in passing about the the tampa racist speaking of tampa merrill later. I'm sure seth will be dialed in and There was the dead heat between special princess and audio strip. Peter walter without a yo stripping the audio charlie philly and special princess for walter woodard that was the gasparilla getting going and on the boy side. That nova rags. I saw this. I didn't see the girls race Live i saw the boys raise live. nova rags then very confidently handled by sammy. Camacho wins as the three two favorite nobre rags motte for michael shanley bread shanley's out of wishful splendor. Smart strike mayor so union rags every expectation that this this was seven eighths to start the year. He was fourth in the nashua which was a lot to ask coming off the belmont maiden breaker but on on paper this is this is certainly a colt. That should stretch out. So keep your eye nova rags. And i know there had been some interest in him anyway and then trump bada. Who in a upset. The big upset on monday in new york. But in the wayward lass. He was the three to five favorite so whether a big price or short price from data the sonata stables five year. Old mare lucky stride declaration of warm air. That's that's a significant win for her I north american stake. She certainly last year certainly kept nice company. The the shoe and she was beaten three lengths by the true ska. Some other smaller stakes turf dirt different different lengths She's all right this mayor and This was a very nice way to start the year So the next time we talk to mike we'll We'll see what he what he's got planned for. Lucky stride The lord gave you the laurel and people really loved hearing from tanya Tally lynch and Her first career win. That was a lot of fun. I gave you the rest of that lineup. The main breaker del mar yes. She beat the. She's a cow bread and the This was a very very nice sequence. Here she's got the the maiden win then. A state br allowance than open company allowance in october and now she starts her her four year old season with a another win so four straight for legs galore and from fig standpoint eighty six eighty six buyer career-best so nice Nice william sims. The owner breeder in indian charlie mirror cashing tickets the leeann howard. Calcutta oaks closing remarks as the near second choice under umberto rally wins Clear for carly gains and For a harrises harris farms vronsky philly And then on the boy side of things big fish david hofmans legacy ranch. The occur korean bread by his stallion district. Big last seen in the eddie logan and moves over to the man in the calcutta derby hadn't seen dirt since july of last year interesting performance. Actually from that standpoint again you know these are these are all the cow bread the vents and not a big number. I probably think future probably remains on on turf but wins at four to one. So there you go. And how about the unusual heat turf. Classic north country guy. Mario gutierrez pip moose. Penpal moves. six-year-old baltas for nancy. Maceo and bruce sans. This was This actually was a a horse that dhakal read the bread. North county guy. The by neck over heck yeah and tachira big number twenty one to one and four to one on north county guy. "So that's a difference for she shares the devil. But this is not a super strong field and again, you've got a cold barn with all the candy and a horse has been beaten six straight. So why not? This is a spot, I think. Well, you take three year old stepping up against elders, She probably will be over vet and underlay Christ. You know if you're looking for value, I think she's probably 3 to 1 in this race. I think the win in fair odds and I don't think you'll probably get clean. One eventually 95 to 1. So she'll be a little bit of an underlay in the window. So that tells me go to the multi race wagers. Caesar is a single and that Try to get Sarah to double home on not worry about the windfall, whether its value and under layer over layer if you are playing exactly here, the five Valium is worth a look. Todd pledged. Your sources always historically run well here in spinster. He's had a good run in this race. And you know this is interesting placement. But this was a filly who was all turf. And then she got a race washed off the surface Monmouth and eat in town, and she wanted Maybe it's all of a sudden the Saturday we've got ourselves a third course, and now she's got a shot in Grade one. That's not strongest field. So the five valiant is one to keep an eye on here. But I really do think that three year old filly she shared the devil will be no. Their horses and single her in the late multi race wagers. I left, uh, are a pair up with the two races from Santa Anita. They started 12 30 today 10 race card. And go to race Number four. We've got two year olds on the turf and the co features today race number four Zuma Beach That's for the two year old colt. Another nice price in here. You know, I've got a couple couple favorites among these six or eight because we looked at it a couple of nice prices, including this one here number to ingest just coming out of a California bread made special. I get it. These two year old state rations this time of year. You really don't know the quality of the competition. They are susceptible to the one on class rises and sometimes the maidens when these two year old stakes races as well, so don't get too wild about the class level of the source is the reason I like injected his blinkers going on inside being here to start back source led and was caught late by big fish. Big fish is 2 to 1 Morning Line favorite Ingested 10, the one they're only a life apart that time they go back. The blinkers with ingest, and there's a pace advantage here. I think there's not much speed in this race at all. And I think it just goes right to the front inside will save a lot of ground. Mario Gutierrez Davone hope already We see these guys through it so many times over the years inside speed an overlay price because we need to horses met when they were like the part ofthe 21st del Mark. There were 4.5 and 4 to 1, so they were almost the same price on the tote board. Now you're getting five times the price on ingesting the morning life and Thank you Vice world hold. I don't think.

"Competition will have to see because that was a terrific effort. Okay, let's get into today's card at Los Alamitos with the professor and let's take a look at the first race gone six furlongs here for, um, looks like a field of Six, and there's a horse in there with an interesting name. It's the number five horse you as danger. The 65 favorite probably figures right for five lengths because after two or three races or rather ordinary, suddenly, the horse exploded last time with an outstanding effort. That makes the one of the surest winners of the day for me the number five US danger in the opening race for the maidens are travelling six furlongs with a one o'clock first posted. Meantime, if you'd like to embroider that a little bit How about a we could have a well, maybe not. Maybe not The trifecta about that race, 22 seconds plant very fast Opening quarter, 45 2 for the half, 57 3 It's a five furlong cars stretching out to six furlongs and I just say, let's go The old fashion winning place on US danger one of the sheriff's winners of the day here on well against its getaway day, the day after A point for July. All right, we move on to the second race, five furlongs, three year olds and up fillies and mares to the one favour it is we will rejoice. Number five. Number five, has number six to beat it two or three. Strictly In a race that really has very little talent, But the five and the six definitely stand out and that's let's say the Sixers is he see the bartender? See, See the bartender would pay our loan and the number five horse is we will Rejoice, rejoice! We will rejoice for Dios. These two out by I'd say four or five lengths. So what I do is get into a little try effective. 5656 All 56 All 56 And then what if we had a David double going Will take us danger in the very first race and double check Lee on the number is US danger. Another number five on your program? Yes. Okay, Let's go, Davy, Double he the five of the first race of the 56 in the second. You won't need a police escort. It won't be a seiner, but it looks like it might be an easy daily double. All right, where we have one big distance race of the day. The third race going a mile for three year olds and maiden claiming, and we have 3 to 5. Favored T Bone's trick before was one Hernandez Center sound. And one Hernandez writing very well at this particular meeting. I think it becomes the number four by a length or two over the one and the two. And so in the game where maybe a lot of people spend a lifetime handicapping and then you see them standing in line, ready to make a bad and they sort of make a quick that decision. When really betting managing our money. It's where a lot of people need to help in this particular race. I would take before in there with the 12 and let's see what do we dio That's lineup a tri factor here and it would go like this 1 to 4. In the wind spot on top. 12 foreign The middle for place will take all for show and that's race number three. All right. Moving on the fourth race, five furlongs year olds, Villages, maiden, claiming Ah, $17,000 purse, ballet decor videos of or it's 6 to 5. And in this particular race, all I can see is three and seven. Everybody has else has the low rating. There's an old saying in the land of the blind. The man with one eye is King. The two horses who have that one eye because the others are so slow. They might have to delay the next race to get them finished. I think the tree stand out totally. So try effective time. 3737 on 37 All 37 on the day where we stress the wagering. As much as they handicapping. Let's move on to the fourth race have furlongs and Person 14,000. Ferguson with Aaron Quiet, be a favourite number two. Ferguson at 9 to 5 in the growing 5.5 for one's $8000 claimers for a very good sized person. Ferguson is a total stand out another one of the surest winners of the day as an 8 to 5. David on the morning. Ryan Ferguson. The two and here is the story. Ferguson was just a dominating horse a year ago, then vacation time is the horse ready? Well, listen to this. 58 change workout. That's five furlongs 47 flat. That's four for alarms and those two workouts. The 58 was the second best out of 26 or 27 workouts, and the 47 half was the second best out of 52 workouts. So when there were 80 workouts out, there are only two horses ran faster in any workout. I would savor. Gerson is half past ready to workouts in the upper three person and let's make this. Sure it's winter went in place on Ferguson and who this could be a trifecta. Two with 134 with all and then up comes the well. The 13th commandment Thou shalt reverse 134 on top, just in case dropped the two to place just in case and they all for show Ferguson on a day of baby standout wagers. Okay, We get the sixth race five after longs for a person, 25,000. And there's only a field of five, including seaside dancer with Radian brat. At 2 to 1. Yeah, And what do you do in a five horse field with the favorite So on you, you could go that horse. But then maybe it's not enough price. I'd say this is the Rays where you go for Fourth of July. Hot dog one day late and just take a walk because it's a little hard to find value for me in race number six. Okay, let's go on to the 7th 5 after Long's three year olds and up with our guest handicapper, Professor Gordon Jones, and Ah, now we have about opportunity for Ah, good wager here because we have a field of nine. And the five to morning line favorite held on Franko. Uh, Mario Gutierrez before. The number for you could line up and make a bet on the floor. But you know what? This is a very tough race. And with that many to choose from, I'm going to say within a length. Six horses figure 134679 But here's what might make it a good thing. You could have a a double goi here. And it would go from this. In the seventh raise 134679 to the 10 who stands out in the next raise, and then the 134679 to the 89 who are second and third best and then I would jump over to the five for long, eight phrase and say Kirsch traffic the town. The favorite is out by three or four lengths, but eight and nine are the only other horses that could challenge so trifecta time in the eighth raise 10 with 89 was all and reverse. Okay, well, we all have a racist today down at La Salle on then they're going to head to Del Mar. So tell us the difference between the surface and handicapping La Salle and Del Mar. Unless our which was once of five eights track, and then maybe they extended it to a mile. That's occurred sort of a curious mile track. As you go down the backstretch. There's a mild rise slowly, almost imperceptibly, uphill and downhill and around the turn and then this curious mile track that they created at last Alameda and you turn into the stretch. You look at the finish line and say, Can I get there? This is just about the longest home stretch in all of America. Over a surface. It's very, very fast. So that's lost elevators. We get down by the side of the sea and Delmar as a normal fast track. With a normal length of stretch in a very fair track once in a while, you get a tide underneath the surface from the ocean nearby, But by and large Del Mar's attract to look forward to You get horses for courses. Sometimes horses they've done well at Del Mar can be expected to do it well again. And of course, we add the dimension of the turf course. So Dalbar running Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

"Now back to at the wizards with Steve on Sirius Xm radio added and we're back at the races is five minutes into our three and it's the John White Paper Tiger Rag Good Morning John White regarding food excellent excellent kind of a kind of a warning. We're hitting a bunch of different things and WANNA catch up with you before we're joined the you know the todd's up up in at all of their exploits in western Canada no exploits leads. I don't know them but certainly as you say they had a lot to celebrate from last weekend I especially appreciate the fact if it Mario Gutierrez one that MEC- Derby the big race to the three year olds Tom five-star general the distorted humor Colt and that's a big race. It has been for many many years up there in that part of the of well I can't say our country country but in in that part of Canada in fact they had a lotta horses come in from century downs for that. BC Derby this year but that Mario Gutierrez was a real successful writer on that particular Oval I I always enjoy going up there to what was exhibition park back in one thousand nine hundred seventy s when I was working long anchors for the racing form Mande in fact the very first day I ever went up to exhibition park which is now he seems race. Course I decided David Race Monday nights and long acres race Wednesday through Sunday and so what do you do when you have a day off well. I decided decided I think I'll drive up there from Seattle to Vancouver. BC I'd never been out of the country at that time crossed the border order nicely and got up to and it was I only had one of those little unlike today where we've got these phones that can guide you all over world and thank goodness for those I tell you how how wonderful those are to have when you travel across the country or wherever you're going these days days but all I had was one of those like Rand McNally deals that had a little little teeny about four inch by by four inch map of Vancouver. BC But they had the trapped on their exhibition park so I'm driving through the city and I got into the vicinity of exhibition park and I was having trouble finding it and so I'm candidate driving around the area and finally saw some stables and thought well I must be at at the track now so I pull up and I was planning post time was supposed to be like six thirty and I was you know realizing I could get lost store. I wanted to get there with plenty of time and ah I drive into this parking. Lot in the parking. Lot is practically full at four thirty and I'm thinking boy. That's an awfully big crowd here two hours before the first post this is a little weird so I opened my door and uh I can hear a call of race and I'm thinking well what the heck is going on the run and arranged two hours before they're supposed to be running array so that was rather quizzical so I walk up and find the entrance to the track and before just before I get to the entrances kid comes up to me and he goes. Hey Do you WANNA buy a program program for half price and what did they spot. These United States guys mind that easy to spot the guys I said for what day I thought the kid was maybe trying to some program for a different day or something and he sits for today here. Take a look and I said well okay so I bought the kids kids program then I went up by a racing form and they were out I said well what kind of a deal is going on here. So I go walk into into the track and I look on the top board and it's the seventh race and I thought well. They're supposed to start at six thirty. How can it be the seven the three so I look to the program in the features of the Victoria Day handicapped so it's a holiday in Canada and instead of Monday night card was a an afternoon even card so I had driven two and a half three hours up from Seattle so the first thing I did was look at how many races they had on the card? I'm I'm thinking God. I hope they don't only have eight races. I drove all the way up here for like two racist and they did have four was a ten race card so I had the seventh eighth ninth and Tenth I can't I have no raising form so i. I'm thinking well. What do you do so the first race I I went up to bat was horse that just off the pedigree? I thought well you know this looks pretty. Well bred. I recognize this pedigree and the horse just one by like five and I thought well maybe I don't need a racing zing form after all so then for the next race there was this guy I saw racing form on the floor and I thought Oh this is good that baby I can pick that up and there was this guy that was rather intoxicated. He was standing on the form and I'm. I'm thinking God if this guy could just lift his front a little bit I grab this form and finally the Guy K Kinda got tipsy and he kinda tapped enough for me. Eighty to snatch up this and I said serves this year racing form and he said no and he walked off and Oh man this is great at least now I got a racing form and so then the next race I saw the the horse that had fell the time before but he was like eight to five in the race that he fell and I so I made sure it went to the paddock where they have a statue of Jordan royal who of course was John London's a Cabanal ride of his storied career when he won the San Juan Capistrano at Santa Anita but this was a very famous horse canadian-bred George Royal and so I go to the paddock to kind of look at the source. NC Bell last time to see if he looks in good shape and he went on the Post Parade. I liked the way he was acting on the post braid horses like four to one and I thought well gee if the sources bet so much first time out you know he had to have good works and everything so I went up in bed him and he won by about five and I thought wow this is actually working out to be quite a good day and so I lost the next two races by ended up showing uh-huh inappropriate for the day but that was sure rocky day for that whole trip my other trip to exhibition park that I think your listeners would appreciate like back this would have been all around nineteen seventy seven nineteen seventy eight and drove up there again on a Monday obviously obviously from then on I made sure that they were actually starting at six thirty instead of two o'clock or something. I never made that mistake again. I always made sure of what Bay Victoria Day was for the rest of my life so I drive up for Monday card. They had a stakes race that night. NFL really from long acres was in the race and her name was Sochi steal. Her father had won the nineteen sixty eight long acres mile on on a wet track and he was a really good horse and he was a tremendous wet track worse back then we called the mutters and this was a daughter of him and I actually assigned later a superior mud mark the x-ray inside a circle for Silky steel she was that's phenomenal wet track performer at Mike Jane so it was the leading random long anchors went up to exhibition park the writer in this steak and so you always had the exchange your money the American into the Canadian money so I exchanged my money and I lost a couple of races so I am. I'm thinking you know what I and it started to rain and I thought you know what I'm GonNa. Just stop betting and I'm going to bet everything I got left on Sochi steel in the feature since it. It looks like it's GonNa be a wet track so I did and she went off at like a four to one and she just aired that night and and so I ended up having a really good night and made money and so I get back to the border and I'm sure it's not like that these days but it was pretty easy going back between Canada and the United States back then in in the late seventies and I get to the border there were only like six cars in line and I get up to the Guy Dot roll down my window and he says what is your place of residence and I said Renton Washington and he says what was Your Business in Canada Nice at Horse races aces well how'd you do. I said well you know I was down early in the car but it started to rain. Sochi steel neal was in the feature and he goes oh my God Sochi steals in feature tonight I had to work and I said yeah and he goes who wrote her and I said Mike James. My jeans went up to writer. Oh I take it she won. I said Oh yeah she went. wire-to-wire she won by four or five what'd she pay four dollars. A third of one. I said one. The guy says so. I'm looking in my mirror and the traffic is starting to stack up behind me the border to get back into the United States because this guy wants to talk. Horses let states right so finely says well the one through and I said thank you Sir Grove right on back to rent as you know but that was it's quite I I can tell you. I've never talked horses at the United States border before like that that's great I I I've gone. got got a few times when I when I was working again at and would go to Vancouver for typically you know maybe maybe twice a year business and we'd get over to exhibition as well and I it was it was modest at that time and then it before it was re christened and reborn as as Hastings the the history of of all lows western Canada tracks is is interesting they they've kind of changed over the years and the situation with century seems seems very healthy hardy a couple of weeks ago when when he'd run up there and and you know got taken down but he raved about century three and the people and and how well they retreated and how enthusiastic they were I mean it's you know it's the West I suppose I suppose you could put to hastings in Vancouver proper but the two century properties that that is that might as well be Oklahoma Homa. I mean that's essentially what it is for for Canada. They've got you know real culture of of the horse and you'd mentioned logged enemy. There's a great history and a long history but we're GonNa talk after view and I finished we're GonNa talk to shelley and to her father Glenn Todd God i I'd seen the name but this was this was an amazing for them to win the Oaks Derby and they also one the the Randall Plate and I think only one of the horses was favored. It wasn't as if you know back Robertson Ah Day at Canterbury a couple of weeks ago couple maybe like a month ago during the summer and and Mac one I think he won five of the the the Minnesota stakes but he was favored every in every race in a short price basically here they they were not. I think the only one favourite rid of those three so speaking favorites one other trip I took a exhibition park in the seventies as nineteen seventy eight and it was opening night eight in April and again I made sure that it actually was night not day and myself and my call taker who took down my call call lawmakers. Mike pflieger ended up being the general manager of the Seattle Office of the Racing Forum and I had hired the guy for the racing for amount of a bowling alley where he worked in spokane but he was a big racing fan. That's why hired him. He was so knowledgeable about racing and he ended up replacing me as the chart caller when Nice started moving all over the country working my way up for the racing formed end up eventually in southern California but he and I drove up there two exhibition park on Monday night opening tonight and Steve Cauthen they had brought Steve Coffin in the right in one thousand nine hundred seventy eight again this as April and keep in mind that the first Saturday in May may coffin would win the Kentucky Derby on affirmed and of course sweep the.

"January, and and really just dominated here with a high percentage of victories. So this claim and then ran into starter allowance which is really a higher class level. And ran a great race opened up six links and just got beat ahead, but there's little other speeding here. Let's good in a tux has sprint speed and sewed speed routing last time, I'm not I'm not totally sold on pits. Also, I'm gonna also throw a number one candies. Martini. News runs. Three. Good races and random thirty two hundred open clamor last time was placed first Maine's three wins in a row for candies. Martini. So some wars is gonna come from off the pace to win. It's going to be that one number one and number six in the third raise. All right moving onto the fourth race on a twelve race card. I post will be at twelve forty five and it's dollar day today. Fourth race. We're going to have sizzling. Jamie at seven five to me. This is a totally wide open race, even those seven to five favorite that were got beat five links last time, there's some other horses ticket alone and some other sources that only had a few starts that that could improve peppers as has had a bunch of scarves and one last time for twelve five stepping up to a starter allowance I'm just gonna use them all Sam. So if I'm alive after the after the third race I'll be alive after the fourth race. Okay. Let's go to the fifth race mile and one sixteenth on the turf person forty one thousand dollars and Talia will be an eight to five favorite as one Hernandez on the four. Yeah. This is interesting race because there's only about one front runner in here. And that's mommy, rose. If I'm gonna single mommy roses were stepping away up. It's been claimed three times last four races sixty to fifty one sixty fifty one again, eight thousand one again, and then twenty down to eighteen thousand one again, those are all restricted raises. This is. Much tougher field. But those were open raises, and this is restricted to California breads, so may not be quite as tough as as another allowance race that would be open, and this horse has really keen sprint speed, especially how to amount of sixteen. This horse will be a head of the top of the stretch. Just hoping that that mommy rose can can keep it going all the way. So I'm just gonna single number two. Mommy rose in the fifth race five and a half furlongs forbid the distance for the six race today goes about three twenty and the favorite Herod five to two is to bears for number four and anandas favorite confess semi. Didn't look at the racist. Six and seven because I'm interested in pick five pick fours someone right to the late big five with great starts the eighth race since we have twelve five and a half or longs eighth base today. And it's you're Jain will be. German Jain I should say at two to one the favorite out of the one whole get her for start for John Wong up. Here was on the lead all the way and just got beat just got beat a neck the obvious choice here. But I'm also the throne a few other horses. This is not just a one horse race number three native mosquito running street maidens and now drops to maiden claimer. That's always a big class edge. Also gonna use number six fabled at tend to one this horse was beaten sixteen links in her debut. But that was a race where faithful one one often won by fifteen and then faithful one came back and won a starter allowance next time out so that is a really really good horse. This horse did finish third in that race. I I'm not gonna let the sixteen links margin of loss of bother me gonna takes table and also number seven three carats. This source also won two straight maiden races fit. A lot of speed first time out didn't show quite as much next time. But might be the only speed in this field. So might be fast with gem. Gene gonna use one three six and seven in the eighth race. All right. We go to the ninth base. I ve are two hundred grand or one mile on the turf for three year old Phillies cow breads, and the Campanile and looks like Laker ball at nine to five. We'll be the favourite number three Doug O'neil trying to win a little bit. Another another big one up here as he he won the SF mile yesterday. Now, this horse already camp here once in one the pike place dancer is a two year old with a nice five length victory in that race on the grass solid grass. Rudder came out of a close up fourth in the Providencia grade three race last time, but I'm gonna take a different horse. I'm gonna single number eight kitty, boom, boom, this horse one second second time out first time on turf going long. And then that's seconds next last start. She ran and gets older last time and and this racist to three year olds. I think this is the up and coming horse there were she finished second linked. Behind a four year old in that race? There wasn't of the three year old that ran third but the rest of the field was was older horses. I'm gonna take that edge that kitty, boom, we had to get older last time now just with three year olds and might be the up and coming horse four to one the money line. I'm gonna single kitty boom boom in the night's race and race number ten. We'll be on the turf for another hundred grander this or hell bread three year olds and the silky Sullivan. One mile the distance and the morning line favorite at five. Two will be listing out of the twelve hole with Mario Gutierrez. Yeah. Listings solid horses kind of tough to win out of the twelve hold on a mile on the turf your Samsung to try to beat that horse. And I'm.

"An eighth for a hundred thousand to grade three race that we know right? There will be you know, probably the favorite net race and that'll spring borders right into the Preakness. So we didn't want to run them two times and four fifth that opportunity to put us in a bad position. They're built amid goals to get into a triple crown race. Whether it be that there'd be or the Preakness, and you know, that's not gonna. Really my decision. That's going to be how the horse runs in his next race. So right now, we're just watching him train trying to keep him sound in the tub and looking forward to our next start for sure. Well, this is this is exciting plane. I mean the from. And and as I mentioned a lot of people excited for you. I mean hammer when we were going into the weekend, and we could go Friday and Rick wanted to make a point, and and really kind of stress what this horse might be that, you know, we have to be watched. And and. Then when a fold in your part of it, and what it would mean to be showcased like this like a horse like this would would be showcased that that got a lot of support as well. Yeah. I mean, you know, for guy like me, it's a it's a it could be a story kind of like, you know, whether we win or or get their whatnot. It's kinda like Mario Gutierrez. He come from the same, you know, same places that I come from. We we run an emerald Washington. My home, I was raised on the backside of line crews in now, we're year round Golden Gate in Seattle seasonal, you know, I still Seattle still home for me, my wife and my daughter lives there. I come home every week and be a dad, and now we got our barn ruin here at emerald downs been racing horses that hasty and so you get in this situation. And we're all family between these these three racetracks. And there's so many people pulling. You know, it's just as an our horse. Everybody source. That's why could be very very special, and, you know, thinks about that you look back on the man, you know, a lot of people they live through this kind of a dream with us, and that's really special to me. So, you know, appreciate all the phone calls and everybody's support. And we're going to do our darndest to to make it there and represent good. I love it. Well, we're we'll keep tabs and we'll look forward to decision. And no matter what this is obviously a serious Colt and Scott daddy, son out of first offense mayor. Clearly, clearly there's upside yet and for counting on blame to extract it, so we'll look forward to talking again soon. I don't see for him. You know, not at all Blaine right everybody, and one of the fun stories that is the always get on the triple crown trail. And yeah, I I kind of it's funny. We're we're we're so derby Centric, kind of forgot that part of that El Camino situation gets you a, you know, a free pass to the the break this and the Tessie oh will as well. When the Tesco up next on the road to to Baltimore. So so they do have some flexibility. Moving toward moving toward may. And they citrus thing. The the fact that he's a big horse that they want only run one more time. That's interesting to all right excited for another twist of fate. We're gonna stay here. We only got about eight minutes to round out the morning and Mike Moloney reached out to Mike earlier, and he'll potentially join us tomorrow and. Let a professional gambler. Based in Kentucky talk about this this story and Frank angst is going to join us instead for now. And Frank wrote the peace at blood ores that certainly got the immediate attention and caused some immediate distress and Kentucky tax law. As of January first two thousand eight. Ended itemized deductions. Where by players horse players could use losses against winnings..

"Great day it is. You don't know which direction you look football's. They're flying flying. We've got Super Bowl. We got Santa Anita all of the sports and racing fan could desire. It's there today. We'll put it out on the station. All right. But before we get to the football game. Let's take a look at Santa Anita. You had a nice little winner there last week. We had a thirteen dollar winter. Actually, I guess it was we skipped last week two weeks ago. And that was such a good idea. We did it again back to back weekends thirteen dollar winners. And that's the beauty of horse racing five and a half to one Jimmy miss the other two. So that was minus a unit and a unit, but both weekends. We doubled our money thirteen dollars five and a half units. And today I like three horses to forest the fast and the nights races at Santa Anita. But oh, we better light a candle. We better cross our fingers track condition is that we have faith. At Santa Anita is going to say and fast for the third straight day. In the midst of a deluge think Sam, wow. We're getting our rain. So hopefully, they'll get a break at Santa Anita because you turn on the news last night. And it looked like you could swim and Santa Barbara Ryan Malibu canyon get out the rowboats instead of the cards. Yeah. Let's get the fans knew the fourth fifth and ninth racers. I have speed horses who could steal it. I call them props projection plays to proline not the letter. But the race. Let's go to the fourth rates comes up about first quarter of the Super Bowl about twelve thirty today. And in that fourth race, I've got a favorite the number two and UK. The chauffeur Dryden Van Dyke is probably the best young rider in America. Bob baffert. No question. The trainer high-percentage guy, and this horse can scoop the opening quarter faster than twenty two seconds. Get out there and steal the race up a big maiden win. So I've got a couple of second choices and the other races vote goes a favorite fourth racing. Sam's sanity to the number two horse, college and UK to steal the money. All right in the fifth race are going to go mile three year olds and eight to five favorite is Susan number seven bear harass will be aboard at eight to five. These are Phillies Phillies gone for a straight maiden person. Fifty five thousand. And you know, I've been thinking, hey for years and years. So are we call the props projection play? That's a one turn Horace going to turns a mile. That's a sprinter going around trying to find happiness over a longer distance and the number three horse horse called busy where to get get some Mary, oh, Gutierrez who went himself Kentucky Derby, he's scaling on horses just proved on turf that she can go a long distance. She has twenty one and three speed if Patrick casino. Do we can do it again. So with four links to spare on my projection figures, let's go to the fifth race five to two second choice morning line. The number two of our college, biz wax Sam. All right, biz wax. Mario Gutierrez by the two on the morning line listed HERE IS NUMBER three in the daily racing form and your last picket Sandinistas today. The last race another number three now in the ninth and final they're spreading short sprint of five and a half for logs. Once again speed could be if you want to a writer who loves the fried. It would be Edwin Mel DeNardo he'd never met a horse. He thinks he could put on the late in their sources and sprinting it lies now at a tremendous speed edge and the trainer Polly Gerry. He specializes layoff horses. He gets about forty percent of them home first or second one they've been away. So let's feel another race. Let's go to the speed and the ninth and final in the person of the three horse Laennec. Kate Lanta cakes wire-to-wire three to one second choice. And that's a threesome attorney Anita town all right yesterday. In Santa Anita Muccio Gustavo prevailed in the slop and. Metal grey had to come from off the pace. And so it favored Muccio Gustavo. What's the early buzz up in Vegas? Regards the three year olds. Well, often it's about Baffert. Don't trainer has really in history. The Jones is bad and Jimmy Jones had citation well away all of those. But now, it's a Mr. Bob Baffert winning. It seems to be almost every other year that horse she'll show about that sports. But here's one that we could talk about it's really fascinating fourteen to one on the future book last weekend down at Gulfstream. They had a whole bunch of championship races. Little maiden stepped out of the track called kitten. School like the Dead Sea scrolls. Stroll sets out on the track says, well, I think I'll try to turns for the first time by the time the race is over a jockey Joel Rosario, one of the best writers that America was twisted around in this ATL almost working backwards because he was trying to find a competitor. They were team lakes behind the clock. One thirty four and four for a mile that is fast as the mile feature race won by city of lights the nine million dollar Pegasus. Well, it was too turns versus one turn when a young hearts runs. One thirty four four wins fourteen and it is fourteen to one in the William Hill future books that would be a horse. I pass on to everybody listening. The great sports station can be our state for the San Francisco forty Niners. San Francisco Giants what a pleasure to be at a station of this caliber with you there. But I'd say. Fourteen late winter hippie scrolls might be my early choice for the Kentucky Derby all right now. Let's get into what's going on in the sport books. Betting wise in football. You know, they say there's a ton of money that on all the probable prop bets. You know, how long the national anthems gonna take? Who's gonna catch the most passes is element? And a catch him house and ado who's going to score the first touchdown. And of course, just a few years ago. The very first score the game was a safety, and can you imagine? And there was a feel golden. I think the score was five. So it's amazing. And just think today we could be talking about two different teams in regards to if the guy lines up. Out of the neutral zone against New England. And there's the interception counts and in the obvious. Penalty of all time, no call in and the New Orleans game. So that shows you the difference between winning and losing can be such a fine line really care and people are still talking about it. There's a great editorial cartoon in the Ray RJ, the local paper here it shows the asteroid the size of the football stadium. Crashing down just outside the gates the football station, and the announcer comes on. And he said everybody saw that asteroid crash, except of course for the NFL referees. All right. So we got New England. We got the veteran coach in the veteran quarterback. Ballot. Check and Brady both in the case of Brady. He's from San Mateo Sarah high school and was a Joe Montana fan. And then we got the youngsters. We got McVeigh the coach, and we got golf the quarterback, and he's from Marin Catholic, so you know, we got a lot of interest here going on in northern California for this big game. But it's definitely got a lot of excitement in regards to the Rams with the young coach young quarterback against the veteran Bela check and Brady and too bad. It's like those Super Bowl because the two are colorful team should have been there. A breeze the veteran leading passer in the league and Mahone through zero waiters sexist the three for Brady the ca- the wonder kid, they should be there. Now in this game. We're talking about the limits left the one that we sort of get saying because in such a match up the other way around if the ref hadn't and the player hadn't grew. Okay. I am the rushing, and I found that two teams even Iran the passing teams the young coach of the old coach. How do we get an answer that race or that game? And Sam I think all the telephone yesterday. You gave it to me who were those two powerful wineman that'll be suiting up not for New England. But for the last name just ram the strongest wineman in the NFL and the quickest fastest NFL Sam. The name of these two powerful defensive towers for the licentious. Rams. I well, that's they're gonna go shooting up the medal Brady stands in the metal. He's not a running quarterback. But he's he's awfully smart any off. So is very good. Obviously in the clutch three times. He was third and ten in overtime and got the first down. And it is also going to be a great trust chess match to figure out what kind of defense is Mr. ballot. Check gonna come up with and can New England. Foa a couple screen passes to help stymie the pass rush that they hope to get on the quarterback. He hasn't Brady has not been touched yet in two games of the playoffs. And at age forty one he said, let's keep it going. And by the way. In basketball. They could play every day and baseball they play every day in football. This is such a powerful emotional and physical game. They can play if they're lucky every week. So don't get to play seven games for the title. And if they did I think the score would be forty three with these two teams, you're almost flipping coins. But because of the defense because Goth match Brady on the season. I will go with the LA Rams as I fifty five to sixty percent choice. I liked to have eighty percent or seventy this is what we've got. So I'll probably be putting most of my money on three horses instead of two football teams. But it's the Super Bowl. Sam is spectacle, the two teams that shouldn't be there are there in a way we go. Now, I still two and a half as you are in Vegas this morning. Absolutely. The odds makers were geniuses. They opened at two and a half drifted to to some some places opened at two and a half. They stay there. Every once in a while blip. They go to three been back to two and a half fifty six and a half points for the over under two and a half. Seems the perfect thing for billions of dollars change hands with a few billionaires bathing a million on the game. It's America's ego trip Super Bowl. All right. You're going with the Rams I'm going with the patriots. I'll take all ma'am Brady. And Bella check. I believe that the Rams have to play a perfect game to beat the patriots. I think that Brady is determined after losing last year Super Bowl and after people saying things like, well, he's not what he used to be. He had something to prove along with his coach, you might say. Well, what is there for him to approve when he's going to the Super Bowl for the ninth? I'm this is amazing because Mr..

"And in the press was a little bit brutal to join all week long, and he handled it with such grace and a Plum, you know, when I texted him after the race. I told them I said, you know, so much credit goes to you for for handling that you know, and not blowing your top. I mean, it was you're right. It was so great to see him get that, you know. Now, they'll say, you're no Jay Robbins because you haven't wanted two years in a row. It's crazy. Yeah. That's it's very difficult. Like, you you've touched on the other thing too. You know, watch the times he tortures are are are going to another racetrack. Another state. You know, the surfaces are different the weather is different. So like you said they are extremely extremely difficult to to win. And I'm just happy for John. You know, the monkeys office that he can go forward now, and you know on his resume. He has not just the Breeders Cup bringer stuff classes, you know, the very elite group. Before Joel piloted accelerate on Breeders Cup Saturday. You guys won both of the juvenile races on dirt Friday afternoon. Jaywalking the Phillies, and perhaps especially with you bring them up because they're being more importantly game. Winner stays undefeated for Bob Baffert winning the Breeders Cup juvenile in this game. We start looking for our Irby horse minute. After the prior derby is over. How'd they come out of that? And looks like you're onto champions for the season. Yeah. You know, it's it's funny cute. And I around the very we thought was famous jockey's agent, David and Gordon father, Jerry, and he used to run around all the time and say, you know, I'd rather be lucky smart. Well, as far as the game winner saturation that that was a that was lucky because I was at the Pacific classic from the day that he started the first time, and I really think that they kinda thought this horse was going to not maybe break, real sharp, and he'd come one, and maybe Mike or grading or was out there would end up back on, but this horse rope and one of the first time out fairly impressively. And then the second time he ran was a big day in New York. And I couldn't be there any actually through the source of game winner in. The last second or the day of entry because I guess he thought his other one in the race was the. Possibly, you know, not as good or whatever, and he ends up winning with Mario Gutierrez. And I'm taking after that. Like couldn't let him in a second rice. I'm gonna obviously pets try and ride and Breeders Cup day. And Bob said look just need to tell the owners what I'm doing? And I want you back on the source. So we got lucky with him. And you know, John services Philly all it took was he called me up. He said I got one four yet. And I blow his his oaks. You know, Kentucky oaks Philly what two years ago when you all broke his wrist in he'd he'd been riding her hop Cavanaugh so up. Yeah. Yes. Then he said to me that one point. And I said out good. You said real good. You got the call for the present. And she went around guy saw the replay racing. Just like it was a bit of you know, how moment for me. Nice. Look Philly dialed in you know, young stallion. But the way she one was just, you know, really really for me what I call it a while moment, and Joel very impressed with too. So, you know, we got lucky with the with those two and then obviously with John and a huge day. That's huge day for us. Well, you've always been the kind of guy that has relationships with people. And you're you're not an agent that gives you the song and dance. And all of that stuff. You're you know, if you have a call you have a call always up standing in the way, you conduct your business. She gets a little more firm going this time around in a little bit additional distance. Doesn't matter. She's rock-solid the question now, I suppose comes down to where does she go from here and what do they choose to do with Darren Miller done a very good job conditioning her. I just I'm not. I don't think she's Breeders Cup, kinda horse. So if that's the case, then you probably look at one of those stakes races. It Keeneland coming up in a few weeks.
