"We, You know he's I think, he said something along lines up. He's going to have a lot of catching up to do. Your thoughts of a your When you saw him on the field. Now there's no pads and he's a defensive tackle. So it's kind of hard to really give us a feel of of maybe what you saw, but overall where he comes into the situation, he's a pretty consequential player for the inside of this defense, Marcel He looked good and I can start. I can start there. He looked very good. Um, and it it almost seems obvious to say, because this guy has been in the NFL since 2013. You think he's just going to take and even before that was playing division one football like you think he's just gonna take a year often and lounge on the couch for 12 months? Of course, not like the guy was working. He says that he's only a few pounds lighter than his normal playing weight. It just doesn't look he looks. He looks a lot slimmer. A lot more compact, um But as far as impact on the field, you know he didn't do. He didn't participate in impeding drills. Um, that I saw. I believe either day McDermott, I think painted a very realistic expectation. For for star when he was asked about his return, saying that that he's going to have some catching up to do like, and I think he it was a very It was kind of a, you know, politically correct stance to take Because you don't want to disrespect the guys who were here last year. And who did, you know, try to do what they could. And so that's why he says things like, you know, you do what you can with who you've got. I was impressive what we did last year. You didn't want to come in and say, Yeah, this is the guy like he's going to fix all of our problems. Thank God the other guys with bombs like we got our star back. No pun intended, But I don't. Uh so I think he was trying to temper expectations a bit there, but he did say that you know, it gives them a point of attack on early downs. Uh, he's he's going to eat space. That's what you know when the whole anti star movement was going on in 2019. That's what McDermott and Leslie Frazier would tell us. Is that start He distracts not distract. But he attracts attention from opposing offensive lines. And he opens up past Russ Lanes for guys like Ed Oliver, for God's like getting Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison. They're playing on the same side. I think everybody is going to benefit from a return of star. Little Way way. Um But, yeah, you know, it's him not going to OTAs. I'm sure I'm sure Simon government was a little disappointed and we've gotten quick so I know we've got a far more candid Sean McDermott. I feel like this offseason than any point, uh, that I've been here in any of my now three seasons with the bills. Um, I feel like he's from Criticizing the you know, expressing his concern about the locker room to you know his outright plays of players, just his Little less veiled disappointment of players not being there like Star and Jerry Mario. But in all reality, like I said, star has been in this league a very long time. I am less surprised at star not being at O T s. Then I was at Vernon Butler not being at. Okay. That was the one that I didn't understand. Course. Verdict you got you got a lifeline. You got an ex machina right by coming to buffalo. After sort of flaming out Carolina. He had one good season. If you are a lot of wood and his contract here, by the way, Yeah. In his contract. That one was confusing and nobody wants to talk about that way. I'm less surprised, and I think it's it's less of a deal that Star Wars It's star played in 2020. We wouldn't be batting and I am not being at OT is this year And you know what's funny, too is I saw kind of a good It was some of this podcast kind of posted. Post they They posted defensive line in like three segments, which was like edge interior and one tech like the way that they sort of, especially when you consider who they have afia Beta. Um Greg Russo, bash them like these guys are edge players, but Can play from the interior. So if they carry one, maybe 21 techniques that's going to leave a guy like Vernon Butler in a weird position, because I think they like Phillips. I think they like what Justin Zimmer did, and they're not going to carry a ton of one text on this team because one tax on this team this year They might be too down players. They might be playing on 1st and 2nd down. You get the third down, I think and Oliver's bumping down to one and I think you're bringing Russo or you're bringing a beta or you're bringing. You know one of those guys into play the three technique, which means there's just not a lot of room to be a big guy on this defensive line. If you get one or two of them on a game day roster like you better make what you better take every advantage to get. Get yourself on film that you can at this point. Yeah, I I agree, and not to mention like, uh, when we eat. I was looking at the I'm looking at their defensive ends and where we're going based on their primary position, not where they could play. But based on their primary position, there's six defensive ends that really lot man are making are making this final roster. Brandon Beane has never kept more than five. There are there are years where he's kept fourth. So when you look at the lots for three young guys are lockstep. Vanessa Rousso bastard. They would. They would have to end the life in order not to make this team right. Jerry Shoes and Mario Addison. I think there is a very clear plan for them. Yes, used especially is a lock. Um, Addison, the fact that he took a pay cut or, Yeah, the fact that he restructured his contract, I think is somewhat of a guarantee. Like yes, you're going to be you're going to be on this roster. Because if not, they were going to cut it like that. I think that's just like wood tile across the other year. It's like okay here. You can take your money now and void your last year or you cannot have a job this year, right? And so I think that bodes well for Mario Addison Stanford, but that's fine right there, and I think they loved Darrell Johnson. They love him. Yeah, He grew a little bit this offseason. Another lengthy, rangy defensive end great on special teams as well. He's right up there with Taiwan Jones and surround deal, I think And Tyler Malkovich as far as impact special teams players..

"Ninja Warrior Fan. You want your iron intake this for whoever might be listening to the cold open you all your iron intake of the week. Just just eat a live chicken. I can very live and yeah but I do. I dictate the cold open and with with no conflict just like dictate the cold open chicken's. Neck mm-hmm Jospin coupon Hello welcome into the week. Five keep sounding podcast for the panthers versus. The Jaguars Kyle Allen Versus Gardner Menchu the battle of the gods upcoming this is Brian joined by John Brad John. How are you doing this evening lovely lovely thank you asking. I always ask Brad. How're you doing all these things in great Brian so the Panthers won their second football game of the season this past week beating the Houston Texans where Shawn Watson through approximately one hundred fifty passes against the panthers defense that is rushing the passer very well and despite Kyle Allen fumbling three football's the panthers came out and won something the Cam Newton has never done by the way Cam Newton has never won a game where he's the ball three times so Kim never fumbled the ball three times in a game. He's fumbled at least twice and has one. Thank you so but to get into a serious note so the panthers played a football game. Texans where the offense basically aside from a touchdown from Christian McCaffrey only really kicked field goals the the defense showed up in a major way sacked Shawn Watson six times. Basically this is a game where this is Ron Rivera fever dream. The defense carried read the offense. Dolphins doesn't really get much credit for the touchdown either because they got the ball unlike a twenty yard line after the sack fumble Yup Yep of Watson this was this was exactly the kind of game that Ron Rivera was looking for as a head coach for the his entire career and he finally got it a game where the defense won the football game so the only game better for Ron Rivera was the bears beating the panthers and he probably couldn't contain his excitement while his team lost seventeen to three to a quarterback that threw seven passes. Hey let's not talk about that football game John. Can we just it's too late and talked about. We just not like that that broke my my ability to pick the panthers ever so but yeah the panthers won this football game with a solid defensive outing. I'll start with Brad Brad. Yes what what did you like. The most about this Texans Panther's game. I'm assuming is GonNa be about the defense because aside from Christian McCaffrey has really nothing to talk about on offense What did you like the most about this showing the panthers to win this football game. We'll give them a man. Joey sly some credit joey sly feel like we finally have a kicker he he's only missed one field goal and it was the first one words yeah and he sinned nail nailing them easily from fifty yards like right down the Middle Johnson. Did we talk about how much of a Dick move it is as for the coaching staff to make their kickers first attempt like fifty five yards. No we do not kind of Dick move. I mean it was his first. I tests and he he didn't pass that one but he passed everyone after that. I'm surprised they didn't apply to get Graham going off of injured reserve after Joey slide. I kick like made game my answer to your question though is just the entire the defense. How about this. Ron Rivera deserves some credit for being a good defensive coordinator this year I agree. He's a great defensive coordinator for somebody who is supposed to be the head coach. Yep absolutely so that's my my winter from from Sunday's game is Ron Rivera the defensive coordinator my winner is Mario Addison because he has five and a half sacks through four games which is he's on pace to destroy his career earlier his career best as far as defensive line sacks goes and a five and a half sacks or games. PUT THEM ON PACE for the record. Yeah it's hard and it's funny because like the guy who's been talked about the most about this defensive linesman Brian Burns and he's obviously consistently Louis been a presence. I mean he's at least blocked two punts and he's been getting after quarterback every game. Mario Addison is kind of being overshadowed because Ryan Burns the first round pick this year but Mario Addison is like you know top league right now as far as pass rushing efficiency the panthers went into this off season with the goal to make their pass rush better and by fucking God they did it and I'm pretty shocked because it didn't take a lot it just took Brian Burns them change in their scheme up a little bit John. Your thoughts on that. I mean yeah. It's it's exciting. I don't understand I feel like it shouldn't be this much better than last year based on what's changed. You'd I mean I know what you mean. I The this is supposed to be this drastic difference. 'cause like one of the things that I've noticed too is like they do run the three four a bit but they still have their like nickel well defense versus forty four down linemen rushing after the passer which is not a different what they did last year but it is so much more effective and I'm sure some some of that is just like Brian Burns being there in jail McCoy's making a bigger difference than people are giving them credit for just because he hasn't putting up big numbers also carry power is not playing like fitness here. It also helps helps. More players play less bad but yeah I I don't know it's. It's doesn't make sense to me but I'm not complaining. It's been very fun to watch. Also the secondary gets should get some props for two because they've gotten several coverage sex. They have James Bradbury. atteberry is still one of the top grade corners in the league right now. Dante Jackson sat out and in response Ross Cockrell rule a relative unknown aside from maybe last week had a pick in had a should have had a second pick with a nice undercut route towards the end zone. Defensive backs are actually not just a bunch of scrubs for once which is cool. I enjoy that I think but Ross Cockrell occur deserved exactly one interception on Sunday. 'cause the first interception was just like feeling it was I meaning. He did stick to his guy and he didn't fall for the for the play fake so I'll give him that yeah that the second one was just him undercutting route. That was a really really good throw in a really good route overall. He just read the ball right to where the receiver is going to be. It was just a good play by his own. Corner is bad for do that. Forgot that needed to learn how to walk again a few months ago yeah not bad at all and the best part is that League league. Maybe not this week but next week probably they'll get Dante Jackson. Dak and they'll have pretty good corners which is always good to have three instead of zero. Three is better than two or one or zero. It's not as good as four though now it is true I mean. JV and Eliot didn't play horribly ably so maybe we do have four half a sack who he deserves to pass rush credit speaking of pass rush credit. Yo Eric read. I feel like this is the best game of his panthers career this past week. I what about the eagles game last year. It's like an interception in that game too. He had interception taken away from him by the officiating so officially. No that's right yeah. Oh that's right 'cause 'cause of the whole new thing yeah for this week. He came he came on as the game was ending. It was the second to last drive by the Texans he he came on disguised blitz-like just right as the ball was snapped. He came up in blitzed causing pressure. That's vern Butler forced his sack fumble which props Vernon Butler and then Eric Reed recovered the fumble and then on the following drive on the hail. Mary Eric Reed Snack the ball out of the air like he was somebody in the NBA swatted. Go a three point shot. You know on him Mary. I feel owning nineteen to battle down is kind of misguided at this point. I think you're better off trying to intercept on the last play the game yes because teams the design their hail Marys to have players ready to catch deflections. I mean read snack is straight down. It wasn't like tipping the air. He he likes spiked like volleyball yeah but do you think have been the less likely for are more likely to catch it if he just caught it. What happens the almost catches it in tips and up in the air many catches it. That'd be very impressive for two tip up in the air. That's dropping from the sky like that. You'll see players. muffed punt up into there is basically what he was doing yeah but you could have like a guy you know come in there and like or the hands of where he's trying to catch the ball and knocking up where it's a little hard to do that when the guys just like. I'm smacking it on the ground nes- just it's it's. It's you have to be careful. I think because if you have to reach back too far like Eric regarding a position bringing spike but there are signs or guys like smack it four or like and their players waiting for it disagree with your point bear in a generic mindset where Eric read was that I think he'd be agreed in isolation in backyard. His play was fine. I'm just saying in general the idea of just knock it down. Don't catch it. I think that's not the best idea but I also just questioned everything. Football coaches tell their players so could be me. Yeah you question a lot of things so before we move onto the upcoming game. I'm what's just talk about the offense for a little bit so Christian McCaffrey testable thirty seven times. That's a two way wining but the panthers did still manage the win despite Kyle and getting sacked fumbled three times he could have had a fourth but instead he managed to somehow dodge. Jj Watt and hit Jerry is right down the field when the panthers really needed him to move the ball down the field so they could take some time off the clock. Antezana field goal. They walk away with the win and nothing wrong. Kyle is the greatest quarterback in panthers history. I feel like too. Many people are glossing passing over the fumbles. They are but he won. People are making comments like that. Kyle Allen one is three and as a starter for the panthers. That's all that matters. I think that's Nah Nah. You know what's funny about that argument to is that as the the exact argument way back in two thousand eleven that every single panthers fan hated because people will say eighty got a better record than Cam Newton so he should be rookie of the year yeah. I have a better comparison Kim fucking Tibo. Yes like that that there too many other variables especially in football. I don't know what other sport quarterback Wednesday relevant well they're. They're very relevant in cricket just record. Your mic broke up. I didn't hear you say the were quarterback. I just heard you say wins or real. Sorry for the snarky then it was undeserved. Yeah I mean like it bothers me that we're still doing this like you know nine years in the Cam. Newton's career were court where analysts are like. Well wins only thing that matters why it's sure but tile works yet. I'm not matter you know they do but like John. Just said it. It's not there's more to it. It's not just the quarterback.

"I am. Well, however you break. Just great John. How are you? I'm good. Good. Brian. I don't know if you guys heard about this. But I the buccaneers cut a really good defensive tackle and he was on the market and people were like, oh, the Panthers have interest and they actually signed a guy that they were having interested in publicly Gerald McCoy defensive tackle, high performer, and quite good pickup, in my opinion. I'll just go ahead. And let Brad point you to start. It's off. Give us your take. It's very smart business. It is. Jerrell MacAulay still has a lot left in the tank like I'm really surprised that Tampa Bay let him go. And I know it was mostly money because he was supposed to make like thirteen million this year, and they cut Gerald McCoy and then signed Dom consume, and somebody else, I don't remember who else they saw him, but they signed two players for essentially the same thirteen million. So they trade at two for one and you know, we're only paying him four million dollars guaranteed. And if he meets certain parameters in his contract, the deal is ten point two five million and Gerald McCoy is worth every penny of ten point two five million dollars. So I think that for the first time in, I can't remember when the Panthers made a move that not only made sense, but made them a much better team. I can tell you another move that happened like that. Not too long ago. That would be Eric. Decide. Yeah. Eric read. That's fair. Yep. So john. Gerald McCoy, we've been we've been talking about how the Panthers are going to be shifting to a hybrid defense. But bringing in McCoy to pair with Don Terry PO in K one short. I'm the seems to indicate they might be leaning more towards the three four this year. Yeah, I don't think it could be a hybrid at all. I think it's basically be three three man fronts. Story of the time, I guess it'll be a hybrid in, in the sense that, like, we don't always have the same front. Yeah. Yeah. It'll be a hybrid because sometimes we'll run a four man front. Yeah. It's going to be three four mostly. I mean we have what like one four three defensive end on the roster. Mario Addison, FAO badeah and Brian, there's. Cox doesn't even make the team in bought as a bigger like he's a pretty easy like plug and play two three four three or four. I think so. Well, there's also the possibility that he's not even going to be on the roster after we go to London. Rephrase. None of our good players. We have no good for three defensive ends of the Maya Addison..

"And also our defense is always going to be terrible. If our pass rushes anemic as it was last year, and we're only getting older on that front. So there's not like, I know there is Markey's Hanes we took last year. But I don't know what his, you know. I mean, he's what was a fifth round pick. Like, I don't know what his long term potential isn't on everybody loves FAO badeah, but he's a long way from being consistent contributor, and if Mario Addison, and if that combination plus Mario Addison are starting defensive ends next year. We'll have some problems. I would agree there. I think you're both right in the sense. And obviously one thing we haven't discussed and one thing I really don't want to discuss as Mattiello's contract. But you're you're you're banking on a lot here with Matt Kalil being healthy enough to play left tackle with Panthers. Because obviously right now, it seems like they're probably going to let Daryl Williams walk because he's gonna have a market regardless of his injury. I mean, you got teams out there who have like a hundred million caps days. They might take a chance on him. So. Now, you have Taylor Moton, and maybe Mackel as you left tackle. So that's definitely a need for sure on the. Offensive tackle side. And obviously the left side of the line fell apart. Once was you know, Frank Clark at or excuse me. Chris Clark and Kyle van Roten and Ryan Kalil his on the last bit of or Greg van Roten's sorry and Ryan Kalil on the last legs is career at center. So that's that's definitely a problem. But as far as the front seven goes to I mean this team is really defined by the front seven pass rush the front seven stopping the run. So it's kind of a difficult situation. Be in an looking at free agency. Which will let's jump into that the defensive end markets seems to be pretty good. But there's also a lot of doubt as far as what guys gonna make it to March and be free agent. So Billy, why don't you give me your run down? A who you think the Panthers could potentially go after in free agency at fence fence? Do you think that offense tackles the biggest need in the draft? Well, a couple of things to add to that in. What when I was. So what whatever tune in the past couple of weeks gonna continue doing if another week or so is because Rivera has taken control of the defense in some respects, and he's going to be calling it. I would back to two thousand ten you know, how he was calling game this afford the chargers in any even to just check to see if those same principles schematic. Plo movements are going to be similar to what he did. When he was in charge of the defense, the final games here. And you know, he's been doing some radio every other every would like a teammate on his suggesting that they're gonna be multiple burning on even fronts, which means three four four three people have been suggesting that what I noticed was. He does blitz quite a bit. He to use us a lot of overload blitzes. And now that that was interesting to me because like young his S d'etre service in two thousand ten at the chargers where someone like Antwan Applewhite who played here for like a season to cut. The other guy's name. Sean volumes are not sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Sean Phillips was want. But there was another guy named Antoine as well after the last name anyway, like our point is he did it with lesser pass rushers. But he did a lot of like disguise overlooked blitzes, which means that he would have like two linebackers. You know, head up on a center than both dropping than they would bring like nickel corner..

"On the Vikings next week. That's this addition of exploring the north. I'm Chris Renwick. For a look into these X factor. Quarterback. Here's Sean belief. We all know how important getting to the quarterback is in today's NFL. It is vital. And today, we're going to look at two guys whose task it is to do just that Mario Addison is in his eighth season as an undrafted defensive end out of Troy, and he is certainly found a home in Carolina the past six years since two thousand fourteen get this. He has seen his sack total go from six and a half to six to nine and a half eleven and seven and a half. So far this season though. He was only limited to thirty eight snaps in the loss to Pittsburgh. His last time out the lions issues protecting the quarterback. And I think Matthew Stafford concertedly attest to that. It's been well documented so lions going to have to keep an eye on number ninety seven at four field today. Ziggy Ansah was selected number five overall in the twenty thirteen NFL draft out of BYU and while his ability to. Get to the quarterback. Simply cannot be denied. He has forty six career sacks already his ability to stay healthy. And on the field certainly has been a big question. Ziggy has appeared in only three games this year. Registering two sacks. But certainly he changes the complexion and dynamic of a game with his disruptive abilities coming off the end like Addison, the question may be how many schnaps will he get two guys that can make an opposing quarterbacks life miserable. Who might be our.

"I mean, Cincinnati Stevens is pretty strong. Another just lit up a bunch of points to Cam Newton. So maybe that means they're not quite as strong as they might have been at the offset. But you know, again, obviously good quarterback, but you know they, I'm curious, Cincinnati will end up shaving. But I think right now you look at this offense and go, they're beginning to look really good, and that's not something any of us expected. But the tough part now is, oh yeah, this thing that you didn't know you were gonna have may have to not win games for you because you thought you were going to have kind of looks not great. So you know, before we make our grand transition. Where I felt the bulk of this conversation will be on the defense. Let's talk a bit about the offense of line because I think right now, one of the underrated stories of the year is Jake Matthews and Jake Matthews Lewis like a much better player and that is something Atlanta needed, desperately poor Shanahan was to get stronger played from the left tackle position. So what have you seen from Jake this year? Because I feel like he really is beginning to come on in a big way that we were all kind of hoping he would meet yet. I thought, you know, one of the things I was concerned with going into Carolina game was historically, Jake does not play well against Carolina. Mario Addison is a guy that gives him a lot of trouble has historically given him a lot of troubles over the last couple of years, and I was concerned in that was one of the big reasons why was not as sort of confident about this offense, being able to execute their game plan going into that game because of some of the deficiencies that they might experience along the offensive line. And I thought Jake played certainly one of his best games against Carolina. Anna Panthers in his career, but has been sort of a steady presence for the falcons on at that left tackle spot. He's not going to be, you know, no one's going to confuse him for Joe Thomas. I think there's, you know, I think because of how high he was drafted in now, certainly because he got paid a lot of money disarmer. I think there is a vocal contingent of fans that sort of expect him to be. You know, this elite left tackle that never gets beat. That's not who he's going to be. He's going to get beat from time dime. He's gonna miss some assignments from time to time. But for the most part, I think you know where Jake Matthews excels is his ability to block on the move is ability to get positioned in the run game in to be reliable, pass protector that isn't going to necessarily be a massive liability when he faces some of this premium competition. I think he's done that each of these years. I think he are each of these games this year, and I think you know, going back to his rookie season. I think he's improved every single season. He's been in the league. League in gotten better. And I feel like so far this season he's gotten off to a pretty good start in may wind up eclipsing is you know, last season to keep that train going..

"You know, they, they had a minor setback of two thousand sixteen arguably looked like they bounced back nicely last year. Where do you see this defense fitting this year in her? Some of the guys we need to pay attention to. I think our top ten defense to be honest. I feel like anytime lewke clear on the field, you're immediately fielding top ten defense just because he's so Salih cerebral at the ball, and he knows he can often call out what's going on the offense side of the ball, what you can't really downplay. Front seven is still one of the best in the NFL my opinion. K. one short, Don, Terry PO. You guys know who he is. Mario addison. Those three are very good on the defensive line. West Horton is a guy that most fans probably don't know about. But last year he had his best career season with five and a half sacks in several force fumbles. He led at that. So he's splitting time with Julius peppers, and we all know Julius peppers. Just a freak. Yep. And you throw that in there with Leuke cly Thomas Davis when he gets back from suspension shack Thompson, who had one of the better sex. I've seen by linebacker in the last several years by just he came in like a bat outta hell and SaK Prescott. It was so fast. Like the running back couldn't even block him because how fast happened. He just went on his back and shack sack them. So it's that front, seven's very good. And the secondary is not as good, but not as bad as people are going to play it to be Mike Ladda. GMs is a good safety. James Bradbury has been around for a long time in Dante. Jackson is really fast. So I think the front seven will do the same thing they've done for many, many years in the health out that back end of the secondary. But yeah, I think the Panthers feeling a top ten defense once again, maybe even top five. They shut down the Cowboys who have one of the best running backs in the NFL in a sequel Elliott. He only had like sixty yards, rushing. If anything is killed this Panthers team, it's not gonna be the defense. Gonna be the offense. This defense is very good. Yeah, I think it's fair to say when you hold the opposing team, eight points more than done their job. I think if falcons fans are looking for what you know, the falcons may try to do festively do think they'll try to go after the secondary Bradbury's is a good corner. Think he's a shutdown corner. I don't think anyone would would describe him such Jackson is a fight yet. Jackson is Dante Jackson fast, but he is also a rookie in. I would expect they were tried to take advantage of that in then a believe it's Searcy at at the free safety. Yeah. So I would imagine they're gonna try to. 'cause obviously, if you try the throat anywhere new near Keithly, he's gonna shut that down. And I say this with complete sincerity, Keith is in arguably the best middle linebacker in the NFL right now. I don't know that anyone is. You know, maybe there's someone that's close second. I think this guy is just he's, he's at the top of the game right now. So really, really good defense. Obviously, this falcons offense struggled, so we have no idea. We're gonna see on Sunday. So with that, we've talked about both offenses both defenses. Talk about the injuries how that's factoring in. We've talked about the first game they both had now it's time to talk about how this is all gonna shake, Allen Sunday. So Gina, I'm gonna start with you here. Obviously you're all sunshine rainbows today. So let's hear what you think is going to happen on Sunday, Mercedes Benz stadium..

"To be honest, yes, h if you will, so. Yeah, it's a offense of line, not in a good position. So the Panthers won sixteen to eight over the Dallas Cowboys this past weekend. Despite all the the two injuries we discussed, they still managed to pull it out win. Probably the biggest bright Mark of the game was the Panthers defense. They looked downright dominant. K. one short had multiple sacks believe he had to pulling up the stats right now as let's see. So we had Mario Addison had. One and a half sacks along with west Horton. Wes Horton had one and a half sacks. Shaq Thompson had a sack hand k. want short head to the pass, rush appears to have returned. I was really happy to see that Mario Addison did well because he was one of the guys pointed out my key matchups that. Interior offense or defensive line was going, but you still need the Mario as show up any did in when it mattered in get the sack fumble to end the drive. Brad, what was what? What part of the defense, I guess, are you most optimistic about right now? I really liked the defensive line. You know, we thought it was going to be a concern going in because we have so much. I hate to use this phrase but old age, but you know, they played well. I mean, you know, like you said, k. one short played well yet to Saks thought Mario Addison played well. He showed up at just the right time there at the end. It's west Horton played well, it's it's hard to believe, but you know your offense or your defensive line. Excuse me is clicking when Julius peppers is the least effective guy that you had. And I think that shows that we've got quality depth and we've got a good scheme. They did their jobs. Well, I mean, and you know, let's be fair. They were aided a little bit by some really bad play calling by the Cowboys. And you know, I don't. I don't like to complain about this, but you know the touchdown that gave up, they gave it up because the officials let a holding call, go on Zeke Elliott's touchdown run and you know. But other than that one play, I thought the defense played lights out. You know, Dallas couldn't do anything. It was. It wasn't until the second half that the babe and got across midfield, and you know to to be able to to do that. Especially when we have injuries on the other side of the ball, that could be the difference in keeping us from going five and eleven this year, and it could be what propels us to to getting a winning record. So I'm excited. Yeah. And another little a little tidbit for Panthers fans listening. Did not play Brian Cox, junior actually was the fourth defensive end the Panthers used, I was a little bit surprised by that, but they still manage to get the pass rush off the ground. So definitely can't complain. There seems like John might be back John. We're talking about what we liked about the defense. So go ahead and give us your two cents. People are did it a that Cox play? I didn't remember his name in the snap counts. He did had two tackles and one solo tackle. Oh, nice. I. Special teams cackles. I just know he was. Snap. So. I'm gonna with with Brad in that the the pass rush was the my favorite thing because and especially that five of the six sacks came from the front four, not like, I think there's definitely reason for concern coming into this season that we're going to struggle without manufacturing it with blitzes and whatnot, just because Mario Addison's really the only guy. I mean, I'm peppers is old guy in his current state that has proven to be an effective pass rusher on his own. So I can see why there'd be concerned that we didn't have any pass rush. And I know Dallas is line isn't great with the injuries and stuff, but to see us get sick sacks and five of come from the from the line was very encouraging, especially as Dax also not an easy to sat quarterback. I don't think early shouldn't be. Now he's mobile, and there were a couple of times where he got away from some stuff..

"Healthy and playing it. Three of them in all pro level, you're running back giving you one hundred game and as you pointed out, eleven hundred on first down. So you're always in second and four. Like at some point Dak Prescott needed to in that game, make some type of big play and he was unable to part of that on the receivers. But part of that's on deck Dak Prescott have had a better game if he had better receivers about receivers, getting separation or was about not being able to deal with the pressure about the receivers, getting separation. That was the biggest issue. But when it comes the deck Prescott, there were times at the end of that game where he put himself in bad situations. You look at the last possession that they had on the sack fumble. My Mario Addison, he. Essentially sacked himself because the offense of line picked up the twist on, but he moved outside of the pocket, and he went right into the pressure. Mario Addison tracked him down from behind and forced to strips set those types of plays where I scratch. My wonder is that Prescott quarterback. That's going to be worthy of one hundred plus million dollar contract in the off season because that's the decision that Dallas Cowboys are going to be faced with. Keep in mind. They don't have a fifth year option on deck, so he's going into his fourth season a contract year. They've gotta make a decision about his future and what they're going to do at the quarterback position. But it's clear to me in watching yesterday's game that Ron Rivera made sure that his defense got the message. We're going to keep the Dallas Cowboys offense off schedule were not going to allow second six better. We're not going to allow third and three or better. We're going to put them in long downs in this work, and that's exactly what happened and you saw the deck. Prescott wasn't able to make the plays, wasn't able to extend to of eleven on third down. They didn't get the ball past the fifty until the. Second half are right, like they, they didn't run their first playing Carolina territory until the second half, they Carolina. The Dallas defense did its job to Cam was under duress. They were injuring Panthers, not intentionally, but they lose the right tackle Greg Olsen's a walking like the Cam did is much as he could have given the circumstances. But if I tell you you're going to hold the Panthers to sixteen the answer can't be. We score eight. Like they even the painters, let them off the hook with the the the right guard, blocked his own snap on the extra point. So instead of being seventeen nothing in the game, essentially being over its sixty, nothing and you can squint hard enough and say, oh two, touchdowns two, two point. Conversions were there, but they never had a symbol of an offensive flow. And yes, of course, Dak they, they have totally unproven. Dare I say, less than mediocre wide receivers, but there wasn't a lot of balls that I saw yesterday. I'm like, man, Dak place it perfectly men. That receiver just couldn't come down with the catch like it was. It was both parties at fault for the Cowboys offense being so inept and Zeke listen, Zeke wasn't amazing, but five, four and a half a Kerry against that defense with a touchdown, like Zeke did about as good as I thought he could do against that defense in the passing game was horrible. All right. So the Cowboys. After season-opener a lot of questions rounding Dak Prescott coming up on the other side, Tom Brady still getting it done at age, forty one.
