"Steven a triple eight say ESPN triple eight seven two nine three seven seven six we got sometime prison telephone calls footballs out there you know the one thing didn't get a chance to bring up with Brian but he was gonna short for time but this one of the football topic that has been gnawing at me that I don't know look when you host shows like this I did you have to come in with the polarizing fought rightly you have to try and say something that folks can agree with disagree with get motivated to call fire them up and you want to have an opinion and often times I think there's a difference between an opinion heartache what a hot take to me is just throwing something out there but you don't really even a hundred percent believe what you're throwing it out there just for effect what opinion is something that I think you really thought about I guess really is your take and this is something you truly believe and I would put so much of the recent quarterback talk I don't know why it struck me more this year than has another here's what talk about quarterbacks this year has gone from opinion two week by week hi take and I can't take it I can't take Bob takes we every Monday not only go crazy based on what the quarterback play was the day before especially with the young guys but we make like career long prognostications about these guys based on not even sometimes a game based sometimes on a half think about the different narratives there've been even for some of the young quarterbacks this year Daniel Jones with the giants he comes in has one unbelievable half of football in Tampa Bay and now he's better than anybody got drafted last year he is an absolute no brainer franchise quarterback and the giants absolutely do the right thing taken six now what has he been since that day the giants are now two one six on the season and he struggled and their times was looked like a rookie and then on the like the day after he has that game you're hearing up that he's better than Sam Donald McDonald's now not worth a damn the Baker Mayfield not worth a damn you get right all those guys it the roller coaster that people's hot takes about quarterbacks have been so far this season to me has been amazing it is just it's been amazing Baker Mayfield can't play Sam Donald when he first came back off the illness was awful then they beat the cowboys wait the jets actually doing a franchise quarterback now they don't now he's out Baker may feel at the end of last season was gonna leave the Browns to a Superbowl this year start off the year okay now he's in the tech now the Browns made the wrong decision by bringing him it back Prescott's better than Carson Wentz no he's not every single day there is a different polarizing opinion about these quarterbacks for specially the young ones when play you know when you're going to know how good Daniel Jones is in two years these young quarterbacks need an opportunity to play there is a learning curve in this league at that position look at the legendary guys that have played in this league at that position how many of them jump right in and the first time there on the field look the way that you would eventually hope that they would look if they're real franchise quarterbacks Dan Marino motor homes Tom Brady when he finally got his chance there's a handful of them Peyton manning look like these guys look he looked like the struggling Sam Donald the struggling Baker Mayfield the middle that's what he looked like very few guys jump right into the NFL a quarterback and play at the highest of high levels and yet if these guys don't we want to make career along prognostications about them off of a handful of games and it didn't used to be this way it did not there was a time where a learning curve for quarterback was acceptable okay your guy could make some mistakes and you knew that you to be patient with them it'll it'll make those mistakes eleven go play now they're BB there's absolutely no learning curve allowed and we have to have the Monday hot take after every single interception the rookie quarterback throws it's amazing Ian I was in New Jersey joins us next year on ESPN radio publishes an interest even a what's up here Hey how's it going good I got a question about the Atlanta Falcons you know just from a non amnesty thou fan damn point what what's going on like I like I know the defense is absolutely toward like going and everything just not working out I never thought the Seattle team with our type of defense would work out especially the Keanu kneeled not there those are big shoes to fill we got a bunch of contract that just are tied up with bad players Bontade green or the like down seeing Devin Coleman Coleman run out like that was was horrible now he's flirting with the forty Niners in your opinion what what is what is the next move this offseason what what do we need to do to get back on track to being a playoff contending team I think it's still line of scrimmage game I mean like you know doing the jets in New York that is absolutely good beginning in and to where the jets I think are going to focus going forward but they're going to do and I think you have to do the same in Atlanta like their defense is terrible they can't stop anybody look at some of the numbers that they have given up so far this season they've had a couple of games where they scored over thirty and lost if you score thirty points in the NFL you must win you can't lose games where you're scoring over thirty so you know Matt Ryan from for three hundred and fifty three hundred and thirty three injured twenty yards and losing so that to me that's the jumping off point you have to shore up the line of scrimmage and become the defense of team up there were a few years ago because they still have the offense of weapons that are good enough to get the job done the Monday Freeman Julio still put up numbers Hooper's a good tight and like they have the skill guys that Ryan could still play they have the skill guys necessary to get the job done and you know you you cannot be given up the kind of point totals that they're giving up I was just alerted the fact apparently Baker Mayfield this is on Twitter Cleveland dot com put this out and it was heated moment with a reporter and walked out of his weekly press conference I have not heard this so I'm interested to hear what question Baker Mayfield was asked what his response was and why walked out let's give a listen but we haven't there's been a fire it's coming we'll do it after the break it's a good one to do it after the break are we in a phone call in and I'm gonna be curious to hear what Baker Mayfield got upset about what the question was and why he stormed out let's squeeze in Bab in Virginia who joins us next year on ESPN radio publishes Stephen at what's about Hey how are you now would be the time Bob Hey listen I just want to be transparent about you and a judge because the rule states that trait Turner has to stop himself inside the running lane at one point during the trip down first faced Sam all work made it an outstanding call trade never put his foot in the running line never got guys constantly run right up the first base line constantly if you enforce that rule there would be guys it like called out for interference every single game low it's only when the play is being made in that box area that the ball ended up in so that's why are you that was interference I mean if I pull it up for us coming from third base or shortstop that's not interfere okay my question then my question then would be where is he supposed to be one the ball arrives at first base but he wasn't where there's a user hot right he's a partial to make that step to first base but he has to some time during the trip down the line he has to be inside the running light so so what you're saying so what you're saying is it's not interference at first base if when he arrives at first base he's in the exact same position that he was in when the ball got there but at some point on the way there ran like six inches further to the right when he was running even if when he's running six inches further to the right he's in the ball is no where near impacting the plate first right okay all you know what and you know what if that is the case that is as dumb a rule is you could have that rule is off the charts stupid if in order to be in a legal position at first base when the ball gets there he needed to be in some other position on his way to first base when there was no impact on the ball whatsoever just to check the box so he could be in the exact same position when the ball arrives at first base but as long as it's somewhere between home plate and on his way there he put both feet in the running lane which would have zero impact on anything that happened to first base when the ball got there zero impact on the throw zero impact on Goree L. zero impact on the play at all but just at some point on the way there he was running six inches to the right now he's conforms to the role that is as dumb rules you could have if that's the case I know but it was it was a it was enforced the way the rule is written I need to re write the role I appreciate the call because that is the dumbest rule you could possibly have because at the end of that rule if you read it at the end of the rule there is a copy out there that allows the player because he has to be able to come back to the left to be in fair territory for at least a portion of the time is near first base or else by definition he can't touch first base because first base is in fair territory so how are you going to touch first base in fair territory in you all right in their territory when you do it unless you like side swiped the bag with your left foot and hop past it just to stay in foul territory which obviously no one has ever done in baseball history so the only moment that that play has that's impactful is when the ball arrives at first base the frozen impact it didn't interfere with the throw waving his arms around it was one of two or three feet inside the line trying to get away the throw he was running a straight line so he had zero impact on the throw itself the only part.
