"Parker is one of the most underrated players in the league and has been for her entire career. One of the most underrated pickups of this entire season is Alicia grey go into Atlanta, which I think is huge. But the biggest thing that I think could help this team get themselves into an actual playoff position is the not official, but the talent wise return of AD der on the court. Because one of my favorite draft picks we'd ever have, I loved watching them play in Louisville and in due to everything that they had to deal with. That der had to deal with the sickness and COVID and not being able to play at a full level. I think this is a chance. And I think it might have an impact for Atlanta. Atlantis fun, and I think they have the potential to get somewhere in the mix. The mercury is at 6 and I just, sorry, dang it. The links are at 6 when they think that's just because I pretty much had them at 6 for the last 40 years. But that's a good team and a good roster and I expect a lot more just I expect them to grow a lot more over the next couple of years. I just don't think Cheryl reeve knows any other way to coach team. So I could see them in a higher position over the next couple of years. But I like the pieces of what they're putting together. I've got the mercury at 5. That's another one that just kind of feels right and makes some sense. They were a 5, by the way, when they were lost in the finals. I'm not taking the mercury to the planet. Just to be clear. I'm not doing that. But I do have the mercury 5. I think they'll put some things together. I think one interesting is taking point. Obviously, is how would we expect briner to play on the court? But also, scattered against Smith will not be apparent this year, so it's going to be an interesting case for them there. If you've been playing along this is where it gets interesting. I'm scared. I've got the Dallas wings at four. This is where Logan and I are on a totally different way. I'm scared. I have no logic to fully explain this. You made the point that you thought the roster did get worse. And in some ways, yes, because we all, I think, could be an agreement that we thought if you actually put a lot of energy surrounding Marina mabry, this team gets better. And I agree with that. And I was really upset to see her leave Dallas. That said, I'm kind of in love with this roster. I kind of really a lot of what's going on. Yeah, and I think they're going to over perform. I don't know why. I don't know what to tell you. They have a former rookie of the year in crystal, dangerfield. They're actually one of the most conveniently sized team. If they actually give a sense of play, Natasha, Howard has high potential to make some noise there, then you look at Tierra McAllen. Yeah. Yeah, mccowan, saw two saw Lee's playing on. They basically took a lot of those like lottery first round picks that the other teams didn't invest in and that took all of them. We're building the whole plane out of the first round. Who we haven't really seen before yet and could be a huge move for them. Obviously Mattie seegers has the potential to make a lot of noise. We're not going to really see much of diamond shields unfortunately, but like this. Ashley Jones, there's just a lot of cool potential in this team. And I guess the main question I have is a review gumball Wally going to allow that to grow. And to work and to develop. And I know she's not the head coach, so that sounds funny, but is this going to be a case where she kind of tries to shoulder this entire team herself or is she going to try and elevate the rest of that squad because if they work, they're actually one of the best big teams size wise and could be a defensively stout and could make some things happen. That said, my four could be an 11 and I wouldn't lose any sleep. It would be the exact, like I would expect the exact same. That's how weird that these predictions have been, but I have the wings at four for that reason. I keep looking at the roster and they just keep liking what I see. I don't have any stats to support anything. I'm just going off my gut here. The mystics are three for the exact same reason that everyone else has talked about it. I think if there's any team that is going to disrupt the flow of this crew, it's going to be Washington. And I think Dell Don could be a big push for that. But that's on top of some other building blocks that have been looked over. Natasha cloud is a whole different Natasha cloud than in 2019. And is going to stand up. I think Shakira Austin has the potential for and I'll start live performance. Do I necessarily think that means just going to be an all star? Not necessarily. But I think it's within the cards. Ariel lacking has improved. Yamiche Heinz Allen has improved. If you've got the return of Christy tolliver, which basically means you've got the best assistant coach in the league, playing on your roster, Amanda zawi B, is defensively stout, I like this team a lot. I think they're going to believe they can face up with any team in the league. They're going to be fun to watch. I have the liberty at two for every reason that Logan said, I have the aces at one for all the reasons Logan said. That's my 12 to one. Very cool. I'm really glad we didn't discuss rankings before we opt on mic because I literally filled out your 12 and year one through three before you even started. But I had no idea what teams you were high on, what teams you were low on. And it definitely affects how I think about my own rankings now looking at years next to my. So I'm excited for Jason's to further obscure what I think about some of these kind of mid tier teams. Well, I hope I don't. I'll try to go through each team. So I'm going to do this a little differently. And I'm sending you guys a picture right now in our group chat. I legitimately went through and wrote down my one through 12 and then just for kicks and giggles because we've been having this conversation. I completely inverted my four through 12 and it seems just as reasonable. So Jason, oh, that's true. Jason has a habit of going last when we record stuff like this and always fun twist. There's also one very, very specific note that I'm so excited to hear about. Jason, I'm just going to let you have the floor you have as much time as you might go for it. So anyways, I will talk about each team briefly and kind of give some of my thoughts as to where they are and what my thoughts were in terms of my rankings. That being said, here's how I'm going to do my rankings. Oh, I'm guessing you guys were responding to one of my spoilers. At number 12, the 2024 Toronto ice. The Toronto ice currently named the Indiana fever are going to finish in a dismal position. I think less than 5 wins.

"Don't know how much I trust them to be consistent on the defensive end of the floor and that's been their kind of their bug for a little while now. So I hope I'm wrong, but I've got them at 9. Somehow, some way, the Dallas wings who I thought were going to be like my 11th seeded team this year. I have in the playoffs at number 8. Despite despite no Marina mabry and just really not doing anything different than they've done years past keep in mind that last year, I think what was it? Yeah, Dallas made the playoffs last year is the 6th seed and they were 18 and 18. They're exactly 500. So you don't necessarily have to be a 500 team to sneak into the playoffs, which is I think what's going to happen here. I think they're going to be a game or two back. And for the record, I think probably four through ten is going to be extremely tight. It's going to be kind of a chaos head to the season, which should be fun. 7, I put this barks. This seems high. It feels high, originally I was kind of trying to put them higher because I think they will have a surprisingly fun year. But they still have a lot of stuff to figure out. Sparks at 7. Phoenix at 6, I don't have a ton of notes there. I think they're good enough to be 500, and that's exactly where I have them is the where they were, they were miserable away from home last year, and they just had a lot on their plate that wasn't basketball related. If they just pick up a couple extra road games, they're going to be in the playoff mix. They'll be fine. This is the one that I'm like, oh. They might miss the playoffs and I might look stupid, but I have Chicago at 5. I don't think James wade and Cleo copper are 5 seed good, but they're really good. And a coach who's like a coach of the year type of coach and a star who I think is a superstar. Should be enough to have Chicago in the mix, and this is just where the chips fell when I was trying to arrange my rankings. So congratulations sky fans. I've got you at 5. So I probably just screwed you out of playoff spot. This is also a surprise. I have Atlanta at number four. I would like to ask you guys to join me on the Atlanta is going to be good and fun train. Sorry, did I miss a pick? So you did your 5? Oh, sorry. Yeah, Chicago at 5. Who's your 6? Phoenix. Sorry, I didn't have a lot about Phoenix. Sorry, I must have missed that. Yeah, you're fine. So starting with the playoff teams, I've got Dallas at 8 sparked at 7 Phoenix and 6 Chicago 5. Atlanta, I've got as a top 14 this year because somebody has to be for and I think they're doing a lot of the right things. It's nothing else. I agree with the insider article that has them is perhaps the best league pass team this year. Ryan Howard's going to be there in her second year. I don't know. I just think that they've got they finally have some people in the front office and on the court that are doing the right things and turning that team around after being just a train wreck two seasons ago. And again, somebody has to be four. So this isn't going to be nearly as spicy, 'cause I thought two hours ago because it sounds like a lot of us are already kind of along this line of thinking. But I've got the mystics at three and I really gave them a shot at two. Because I think they're going to start out the year better than the liberty and probably have it might come down to a one game difference between the mystics and the liberty. I think the regular season record is going to be maybe not the liberty might have a breakthrough season record that is not as stellar as people think, but in the playoffs, I think they are going to be the team that people think. But mystics, delle donne, Tebow, you've heard it this whole episode. We're high on them. We like them. They've got the best repel jerseys of the new bunch. I got them at three. I really did give them a chance at number two, but ultimately it's hard to bet against stewie going to New York and joining everything that's going on there. That's what I've got sandy as my coach of the year, liberty to and then Vegas, it's not very soft very flashy, it's not very exciting to pick the reigning champs as the number one, but I mentioned it's not going to be an uncommon take to believe that Vegas did nothing but get better off season and they've still got a great coach. They still got prime Asia and that would be enough to get them in the playoffs and scary and then alongside I kind of made this joke earlier but Kelsey plum is legitimately like an MVP caliber basketball player who's just like one of age's teammates in Vegas. That's how good that roster is. So that's my one through 12. I we haven't talked about it before the show or anything in the chat. So I legitimately do not know where you have your four through 11, like either of you guys. So I'm excited to see how off I am on those fixed. I think the rest of it is probably fairly consensus, but we'll see. Yeah, I'm kind of in a similar note of I'm not sure if because I made a couple changes just now and I'm not sure if they were influenced by you or I felt a different because sincerely going from about four to 11 maybe 5 to 11 I could see my four at 11 in my 11 who knows. My personal notes on my own pics is I don't know why I have Dallas at 8 when I think they got worse this off season. And I don't know how I feel about land in Chicago being my four or 5 firmly in the playoffs type teams. When I think Atlanta is going to be good but Chicago also is going to be completely different team that we've seen in the past. Yeah. Absolutely. So a lot of interest there. I'll go ahead and dive in so we'll do regular season like the 1231 stuff. And then we'll go back around to do what we think the playoff final you don't have to say all the playoff rounds, but we'll just it was in your final and who's going to win it all. So we'll end on that note, but I'll just give this a kick. I'll try to make this a snappy as possible. The Indiana fever is the 12th seed. They've given me no reason to do anything more than that. They've given me no reason to believe that they're going to win more games than they won last year, which was 5. They've given me no reason to believe that they have any full and honest emotional investment in the future of this team based on how they have chosen their draft picks. I want to say that a player like Leah Boston is enough that they wouldn't squander that pick immediately after taking them up, but after the last four years, I just can't say that.

"Totally possible, but I'm just kind of, you know, it'll be really interesting to see how this unfolds and how some of these personalities mesh on the court together amidst amidst amidst adversity as well because let's not let's not just act like this is going to go away. The investigation and the stuff with hamby. I mean, this stuff is out there. And so that's going to be something that kind of looms in that shadow for the course of the season. Now how a team and a franchise handles that. Is to be determined. But clearly, all the talent in the world on both those teams, that's for sure. Moving on to Dallas, they had Natasha Howard, they resigned Macau and what else they had crystal dangerfield, diamond shields, and laksa. I know Rachel at your hyped on her. Big signing there. I had them before as a not present because they hadn't really made any moves at that time. Now they have. I'm curious your take on this because I like the names I don't like the fit. And that's specifically looking at diamond to shields. I don't like diamond shields on this team play play wise, style wise. And that's just my concern specifically because you look at it besides Natasha Howard, you know, the biggest signing is diamond. Now, obviously, you got some assets back from Avery, which is great. I'm all for getting some sort of assets for a player who's going to be on the way out. I guess I give them kind of like a C maybe a C plus if I want to be nice if I'm in a good mood. I'm curious your take on them. I guess it's hard because I'm viewing it from am I saying, all right, they're gotten better or worse. And you lose a few good players, you add Natasha Howard. They had to make moves to cut ties with some of these younger players because at a certain point you just can't have a roster of 12 young players. You need some vets. Long winded Lee, Rachel. I'm always long winded, so it's fine. I actually, I'm looking back to my grades. I gave them an a minus, which I think is debatable at this point. Again, depending on what I gave them that great right after that trade, where I felt like Greg fleisch, Chicago. Which clearly you got a ton of assets, but we're very used to Dallas having draft assets. At some point, back to your point, you know, you've got to be able to get, you can't just be the youngest, most promising team in the league. You've got to take that next step. I don't know that they actually did that this year. I think it's a bit shocking to, I would imagine it's got to be somewhat shocking to Trammell to walk into this situation and her roster looks completely different than what she thought she was signing up for. A team without Marina mabry changes the entire dynamic of the team. There's no one who can really stretch the floor. I mean, that's going to be wide open that's going to be something they have to address in the draft, big time. You put a long-term investor investment into Tierra McAllen, I love to hear them account. She's had a great last season. She's taking good strides, but she's a system type of player, and I don't know what the system is going to look like under tram. So how does that fit look? And then you're throwing on the dynamics of areca and diamond to shields. What does that look like? You know, it's hard for me to envision what that looks like. Also crystal dangerfield. Let's not forget that. That was an addition that happened through New York. So I mean, I don't know. You got assets. You got some names. You got a little bit older. You don't have anyone who can stretch the floor, the way you need to, so again, I think the draft will be huge. It'll be really interesting. And with them having three first round picks, I mean, I don't know. Well, Rachel, I think that I don't know. Well, the based on what you're saying, I completely agree with everything. It's just like, if I'm Dallas, I don't want the draft to be how I answer the questions of my shooting ability because you need those people step up big. Like, I don't know. If I was Greg, there was some other players that I would have been on the chopping block. Just in regards to the need of shooting ability. Well, and I really feel like we are going to watch this team through the course of this season. And I think it's going to have some really difficult moments. And I think it's really going to stem back to the fact that Marina mabry is not on this roster. That's a huge that's a huge loss. And you maximize what you could get out of her, probably in a way that no one could have thought. And that's a player who there was a lot of stuff behind the scenes. Maybe you couldn't retain her one way or another. You know, so okay, let's maximize, you know, we would love to keep if we could, but we can't. So let's maximize what we could get. I think that's a huge hit. That's a huge hit. And I'm kicking myself for giving I'm an a minus because now here I am a month removed or so. And I think that's going to be something we're talking about all season long. Her not being on that roster. I want to take a moment to let everyone know that wind insider is doing our March Madness bracket challenge again this year. I'm very excited to say we've partnered with Erica McCall to make the prize pot even better. The top three finishers will all want to prize from Erika, along with a flurry of prizes from our amazing affiliates. Homage in breaking tea, along with some cool wind cider gifts.

"I personally, you know, the dismantling of this team, some people think, oh man, it's just absolute catastrophe, right? I didn't see it that way. I felt like this was inevitable. This core was going to break up. You had a lot of players, you know, kind of at the back end of their careers. You know, you really got the sense that Ali quigley could make a change. Candace Parker potentially. So I'm okay with the dismantling of the core we've seen the last couple of years. From there, there's always going to be a real rebuild. There's always going to be, you know, change. So from a coach's perspective, it feels like, okay, like, there's players. I mean, the roster got filled out one way or another. Okay, the goal is to try and be competitive this year. But then you could also combat that with, you know, the long-term success of this franchise. And I really believe I'm just in complete shock of how much was given away for, you know, in the maybe situation. I love Marina mabry. I think she's a great player. I think she brings a lot to this team and she'll step into a great role and she'll do really well there, but she has to. I mean, she has to do well there. But I just long term, it's baffling to me. It's alarming to me to be completely honest with you, but you know, I guess if you feel like you've got the resources in place and whatever in place to attract free agents, and that's how you're going to rebuild this team, then more power to you, but someone who's been around the franchise for so long, I'm concerned with that even. So rebuilding through free agency, not rebuilding through the draft, adding assets that way is alarming to me long term, I think we'll be talking about this for a while. I gave him the C minus. Sorry I get long winded on that one. I just think there's so much to unpack and there's so many different ways you can look at it. Hey, it's the hometown team, the hometown teams always get a little bit extra Connecticut's son back then. A month ago, I gave him a C plus and some people are like, what the heck are you doing? Similar in the mindset of like, you and I have been talking about this for a while. This team needed to be remodeled to use some home decor terminology. I'm sticking with it. And honestly, I might even bump them up as crazy as it sounds to a B and that's just because like you look at this team, don't want them on our list, Thomas. You add Thai Harris Rebecca Allen depending on Allen's health. Olivia and Elsa dota, I like that depth. I like that for the future. Getting Brie Jones back, keeping high them in. Tiff Hayes is a is a good addition in my mind. So when I look at it and I just think to myself, okay, they lost some athleticism in Courtney Williams, but they've added that back with tiff Hayes and shooting ability with Becca Allen and a good point guard in losing January and jazz Thomas and ty Harris. And then you look at it in the sense of, okay, they lost John qual Jones. Well, she was going to go anyway. So I don't necessarily view that as like a, you lost an MVP, you can't have a good grade. I think similar to Chicago, like I view these things from a, what is the situation? And how did they handle the situation? And I think Connecticut, given the cards they were dealt, your former MVP wanted out. Your point guard has been great, but realistically, at least from my perspective for a few years now, needed to no longer be the starter. So if you're Connecticut, why not make a move for her? And then you get something in return. To me, I think it was actually like, say what you want, a pretty, I wouldn't say masterful, but a pretty well done off season, you know, shifting many things for the Connecticut sun, but also finding a way to come out and still be a team that many are considering in that tier right below the super teams. Yeah, no, I actually gave him a B plus in my evaluation of it. And I stand by that here today. There needed to be change. Clearly, you're in a new era with new leadership, new front office, new coaching, new coaching staff. So that's the first and foremost aspect of this. The Kurt Miller Connecticut son era ran its course. They did what they did, but there needs to be there needs to be changed and there needs to be an influx of investment in just younger players. I like Rebecca Allen being added to this roster. I think there's a chance for her to kind of step into maybe a slightly bigger role than what she's been used to, being able to retain a Hyde man. I think was huge. That was a question mark as to whether that was actually going to happen. So that's a big thing. Olivia Nelson dota shows a lot of promise in terms of the type of player she can be in this league and her intangibles. Ty Harris is a guard that maybe I'm maybe I'm a Homer here and two invested in terms of just ties career, but I just feel like she's a really solid player that hasn't quite had the opportunity that she's needed in this league. And I think she could really thrive under a Steph white system and step into that role. So I mean, granted the amount of change this franchise went through, you can't look at them now here today in March and say, oh, they're not in, they're not, okay, they're not in the top two of New York and Vegas, but they're right in that next mix. In terms of complete team, potentially contender, surprise teams, teams that are going to in theory should win a lot of games this year. So I think they had a really solid year. And then the big one was retaining Brown of Jones. And being able to core her and what if I heard for at least one more year, I think that's huge. And build around her. It'll look a lot different, but I think it was a good for agency. Just going to drop it. We don't need to talk, talk about them. They've got enough attention. New York and Vegas both got a pluses, top grades. I mean, Vegas to talk a little bit. Vegas added depth that they did not have. And New York added a superstar roster added to MVPs and arguably one of the best, if not best point guards and league history. So I feel like, yeah. I do think it's important to mention just because these teams have so much talent, doesn't necessarily mean it works. They're so much, especially with Vegas. For me, it's Vegas. I'm not as concerned about New York because I kind of just feel like that might naturally fit. We'll also stewy John quell and sloot have all played together. Yeah, that's a great they have experience. You know it works together. I've said it time and time again. And according to my trolls on Twitter, I'm a huge Vegas hater, which is not true for the record. I've actually loved watching Las Vegas last recent years, but I do think it is interesting, just from a dynamic perspective. This is an interesting team that seems like the I've said it a few times so far through free agency, but this is a team that's been really connected chemistry wise, then you've got kind of the drama with the deer can be situation and then now you're bringing in a player like Candace Parker, how does that look? Does this team mesh well? Maybe it's not a big deal at all. And it works out great.

"There to compete at the level that they would need to compete at to make this move. If you're telling me, hey, you know, we got Candice Parker. We lost Kourtney van der we kept Kourtney van der slew and got my last Candice Parker, but hey, we still feel like we can make a semifinal run at the very least and put ourselves in a position to get to the finals again. Then yeah, I would say, hey, you know, maybe it is worth those three first round picks because next year you're going to make the playoffs and it's not going to be a problem. Right. But now I'm like, I'm shaking. You're shaking a Chicago fan because now it's like, well, this team needs to really outperform what they've done. And Marina mabry has to turn into a star, and she's a great player. And I think she's a really, really good player, but she's not there yet. And Kelly copper is going to have to be a superstar. And it's not like clear copper can't get there. She's proven that she can play out that level. Can she drive the team as a superstar? And I think the other thing I went into this went into this for Chicago was, you know, they were really, I guessing really scared of losing clear copper in free agency next year. So her contracts up after this season. And so they would like to see her extend or at least be in a happy situation. She loves Marina mabry. She said that a million times. And she wanted her on the team, and they went and went her, got her, right? And so maybe, so yes, maybe to keep Kalia copper, they needed to do this. I just don't know if that was the right decision. For me, if I was in charge, I would have said, you know what? I'm looking at it. You know, if we can't sign maybe if she doesn't take our offer sheet, we'll look to trade copper and we'll hit the reset button. We'll try to get one of those great players coming out of the draft next year. And we'll see what happens. And we'll see how we'll see how the franchise goes, but now they're just, this has to work. This has to work, or they are, it's not just like, oh, this has to work or they're going to be screwed for the next two years. This could be like a this is a franchise altering potential movement. Yeah. Yeah. Did you change the entire look of your franchise for a long time? You can ask the ask the Brooklyn Nets, ask all those teams in the NBA trade and those draft picks and going all in for those stars. You guys see what's happened on the pike because I just think that's a crazy, crazy move for Chicago. Great, great move for Dallas for a player that they probably weren't going to resign anyways to get those picks. And franchise altering move on their side as well as they bring in those picks and diamond the shield. And now, I like this Dallas team, Christie. I don't know how you feel about it. No, I love, first of all, I love time to shield it. She's listening. But I love that. I love that she's going to be there. With a riquet of wallet, I think they're built the same way mentally. I think they're both extremists when it comes to competitive fire. And I'd love to see that. Especially for diamond to the playoffs last year, you know, obviously it was Phoenix having the year that they did last year with the emotion with the Britney griner situation. Do you see BG at the Super Bowl? I did. Aw, I love this. So happy for her. I'm so happy for BG. Oh, hey BT. I'm so happy for her. Yeah. But I think like you said, it's a really good move for them. They're continuing to strategize with their roster, but continuing to build too. But they'll be able to add some really nice pieces with those picks. But I just think when you said about Kalia copper and can she be that superstar and lead the team, I think she's poised to do that right now. I think, you know, she got MVP of the finals when they won, you know, a couple seasons ago. And I think from that, I mean, I think the confidence that she's played with. I mean, even prior to them winning that year, just the way she's been moving along in her career. And her competitive maturity, being on full display. I think she's ready for that challenge. And she doesn't have anyone to fall back on now. And not that she would want that, but I mean, there's no Candice Parker who's the one saying come over here and let me talk to you at a free throw. Like you're not going to have that kind of leadership. So can she be that for them? I think yes. But she hasn't had to do it because she's always had a salute or quickly a Parker to be able to corral everyone in. So now it's her opportunity to step into that space. So I want to see her do it. I know that she can do it, but she hasn't had to do it. If that makes sense. And quigley is taking the year off. So she's not even there either so I just think the opportunity is primed for her to step into that leadership role. The seas have parted, if you will, and this is, hey, this is your time to stretch yourself into being in that vocal leader. And you've seen it a little bit, but now, you know, she has, again, had to do it because she's had vets to the left and to the right of her. So now it's her turn. And I'm anxious to see how that looks and I'm sure she's going to do it masterfully well. I think she's going to be great at that. Yeah, no, I think she could totally be a leader. I just don't. I don't think in that way. Be the one to say, hey, come over here, I can tell you something. Oh, no doubt. I think she can lead this team absolutely really well. I just don't think, you know, you look at the other teams in kind of the conversation with them and it's just the talent level for Chicago's not there. And James wade's a great coach. And maybe there's some stuff that he can get more out of these players than. I'm sorry, he can get more out of these players than what we expect. But it's just tough to look at the other teams with the talent and say, okay, we have to make the playoffs this year first off. And we have to be really good in order to make this trade worth it.

"Continue. All right, so I want to talk some WNBA free agency. Yes. Start with the massive trade that brought Marina mabry to the Chicago sky. This one's a doozy folks. And so, essentially, for Chicago, they gave up their day gave up the next three years. Three years. Oh no. Three first round picks. Essentially three first one. So they gave up their number 5 pick in this year's draft. Their first, their first rounder full stop next year. In the draft that could have page backers, Cameron Brown everybody. Everyone. It's going to be in that draft. Everybody, yeah. And a swap a pick swap between Dallas and Chicago in 2025 and looking at it right now. You kind of say that Dallas would take that swap. So then Chicago would have a first round pick and just be lower than what they would have if they just went on their own. Way there. And then there's a 14 trade. There's just so much stuff going on, but we have to talk about it from each team's perspective because not going to get too complicated. They also give up like a bunch of second round picks and stuff too. So sure. Marina may breed to be on this team with copper and I gotta say I really, really, really don't like it for Chicago. Not the statement against Maria mabry. She was a restrictive free agent, though. They didn't have to do this. They could have just signed her to a max offer sheet, which is what she got anyway. She got the max. And saw if Dallas would match it. And I'm looking at Dallas's books, I'm saying, they're not going to match it. They're not going to do that because they have too much their books are loaded. They have too much going on in the future for them to say, you know, we're going to match that max contract from random Avery. Right. So to give up all of that for the right to sign the player that you could have signed without giving up those draft picks. Again, in what projects to be one of the best drafts we see in recent memory. Right. Is very, very, very questionable to me. That's a big move, I mean, you know, like you said, a restricted free agent. So I mean, we don't know the inner workings and the business decisions that are made because of finances and sell your cap and all that. And that's being speculative. However, we're not privy to all that. So for her to be moved and all the picks, that to me, I mean, that's a major, major move in that way, because of the big drop classes, especially for next year. Yeah. I mean, that's rolling the day in a major way to say the least. To say the least, right? Chips in the middle. That's going all in. Push them all to yeah, man. Push them all to the middle. But in terms of schematics, that's going to take some time to, I mean, for both teams, right? To adjust in the absence of neighboring and the addition of maybe, right? But I think in Chicago, it's going to be interesting. Like all the teams this year with all, you know, there's a lot of new faces across the board. I think it's going to be really interesting to see how teams mesh and not just how they match but how soon, how quick. It's going to be for a lot of these teams to get acclimated to one another and get the rhythm and flow with one another because that's what it really takes, right? Starting on the defensive end, I always say, you know, people talk about chemistry being offensive all the time. No, it's defensive too. Like you have to make sure that you are in sync with the reads. The philosophy of the coach, how are you going to cover pick and rolls and go screens and all that stuff? You have to be on the same page with that. So that'll be interesting. But on the offensive side, I think there'll be some adjustments too. I mean, maybe he's a dog. She's going to come after you. And she's going to be looking for those three balls. I don't know. I think it's going to be fun to watch and see how that iron's out, but I mean, I don't dislike it. I am intrigued. So I don't know if that is a good answer, but. I want to clarify. I love Chicago getting Marina mabry. Okay, I love it. I love the move. The max contract, honestly, I don't think it's never paid. I think that's fine. Okay. So the contract itself and the move itself, fine. Just the trade of giving up of going all in for maybe on a team that honestly at this point, I'm looking at it, I'm still saying they're out of the playoffs on paper. I don't think they're as good as a lot of as the top 8 teams in this in this league because you look at their starting lineup and it's maybe copper, Courtney Williams, dog, I'm going to read the top 6 players on who's going to start. Okay. So it may breed copper, Courtney, Williams, dog. Isabel Harrison, dog. Elizabeth Williams dog. Rebecca Gardner, dog. Dog. It's not like that.

"Trail. I did want to bring up one morning. I didn't wanna bring up one morning. Couple me marina. Mabry has been excellent. Deserved all star said consideration ably. She got consideration shoes to make There's a case for erica wheeler but she's mello- but more hurt. I just want to bring her a name up. Because i think she's been pretty excellent the sheer especially in the clutch. An ally needs her. Erica wheelers been their biggest name though to me. That did not make it with sammy. Welcome 'cause i think sammy if you just look at the new york liberty to them. He say they have. They have laney. they have sabrina. You know everyone else's kind of like an answer person that's just now that's hasn't been the case statement. What comes been. I think they're second best player of the season. Sabrina has been supreme as an up and down. Not only with injuries. Just play so sammy to me has been excellent. She's been perfectly efficiencies everything you want from shooter. It's it's like watching. Allie quigley inadequately his best season. Right to me. i think Sammy should have been on the team. It's tough you're picking twelve players. So i understand why. She's not but those three players i just wanted to give a shoutout to and then one more one more to get into. I want to talk about next. Accordingly has made according williams made it over tiffany hayes Which i think is ultimately fine. I pick tiffany hanes. Tiff atip does a little bit more on the defensive end. And should that should have been in there. Kenny carter also probably got consideration speaking of atlanta. So we don't we don't actually we all know the exact specifics of what happened but there was some sort of verbal altercation potentially physical altercation between it seems it seems to. I'm not reporting anything. I make it very clear. I'm not reporting anything. But seems like according to williams. Kenny carter guy into a kerfuffle. Things have turned physical bubble. Wait a scuffle. Whatever they got into something and it boiled over on the bench during the game to the point that kennedy had to be benched. Now this is playing out over twitter. Recording williams talking about this all over twitter There's been a lot sources talking. About how kenny carter is a cancer or a lot of stuff is coming out of atlanta. It seems dysfunctional. And again i just mentioned all three of their guards as being potential all star candidates. So it's not like team. They're not playing great. They're not one of the best teams in the league. But they're certainly not bad. Enough to be completely unraveling at the seams so kristie. I just wanted to get your thoughts on what we've heard from the situation so far first of all that was it was shocking. You know no one knew why. Kennedy carter didn't play in the second half of their last game. And you know i had the game on friday atlanta and seattle the twitter game on. Wnba's twitter and you know her minutes. Weren't that big during that game. We were wondering. I was on the call a. w. tonelli we were wondering man. They need carter back out there. She was you know scoring at will like she is doing a really great job. So i don't know. I know she's coming back from the elbow. Injury came back. You know the several weeks ago a couple of weeks ago you know. There's no mention of minutes restriction for her but it just seemed like okay. They're trying to ease her in to the situation. They're trying to ease their head. And not you know overdo her minutes you know because cardio teague or whatever elbow may hurt or something like that that we were wondering where she was on friday so the fact that this kind of exploded all over social media last couple of days and you know might peterson. God bless a i mean. He was handed. This team is was it three days before the season started making calling a took the job at baylor. And you know two days later. The dream opened the season. Like here's the season so he spent. I think quite a struggle in that regard one and then to get a whole entirely new coaching staff. In there You know they have the kisha frat down there as one of their assistance and they have dana laforest man who is on the bench as well for the essence. Stick oats terrence. Mann's anyway for the clippers but anyway i But i think it's been quite a challenge. But i think what i like most if there's anything to like about this Situation and is that renee montgomery came out immediately and said accountability will always be at the top here in atlanta for our organization. And that's it. And she had to say something. And i think that was the best thing to say and who knows how long kennedy carter is going to be suspended for because it said until further notice so it wasn't like for one game or you know we're almost halfway. Mark was going to be a huge break. I don't know what that looks like. And i know it. Wasn't there an incident a couple of seasons ago where we'll players got into fisticuffs and they both got traded. So that happened. That was as courtney alex bentley. That's it was but connecticut picks they to treat someone. Because i think it got into i think got from what i can understand about this situation from social media which is not a ton but from what we can understand. It wasn't like alex bentley according got in to eight bytes a right all altercation on a team bus so the team had to do something about the situation and they decided to trade alex bentley to atlanta where she had awesome playoffs. That we don't talk about enough for alex. chisholm is. but i digress. But yeah so you know to me. So the big issue obviously like kennedy is your future you know. No offense to courtney no offense to tiffany hayes offensive elizabeth williams the future of the atlanta dream is kennedy carter so you need to get her on board to whatever you're doing. I think is extremely difficult to get anyone on board when the gm just got fired that drafted her the coach that brought her in just got just left for another job three weeks before season and now there's a new coach who has been there but it's not like he has the same sorta head coach relationship to another player and on top of all this. You've added all of that firepower to a group of players that when they all came together like this is a this is a locker room that we need to see like this the great and we saw some video of on their social media of courtney and tiffany hayes and can carter and our uh simpson all of them like hanging out and being franz but it also blow up because you have players. Have biggie goes the have. They're not afraid to speak their minds. And we're going gonna get any faces and look that works right like that's what that's what makes the miami heat the miami i know. But that's what makes miami heat the miami now. If you've ever been to my he practice you will see players getting right in each other's faces yelling you know. Get getting an almost physical altercations because they care that much and that can be a good thing channel channel and put it towards a positive way and i think they've missed the boat there in atlanta with this So maybe it's just a situation where you have all these big personalities and there's some losses piling up there some miss shots and there's people who want more shots who think they can do better for the team maybe it just pulls over and then it comes back and it's like you know when you when you're boiling something boils over. It'll come back down. And then we can sue out the process especially with this break coming up but if now know where they go from here that's the thing like what's it gonna look like. Whenever it is that she returns like what is what will that look like when she does get back..

"But they were able to their lead with their defense. Actually they turn them over turnover pretty well two games but then they also be Connecticut which had to be a confidence booster but they go into that game against washington as you mentioned washington had season. High points off turnovers with twenty three. They forced minnesota to twenty one. Turnovers had thirteen steals. We'll get to the mystics committed where it seemed like things are are starting to shape up a bit but the links twenty turnovers tied for the most in a game this season i agree with you. I just think it's a team. That's still getting their footing. Kristie think may struggle a little bit more out of the gates is those that were missing players either due to injury coming back from overseas like the feast was Or or later rivals. you know. maybe she'll read Becoming available with something cheryl read just felt like she had to take advantage of. I'm sure a lot of teams league felt like they needed laser clarendon with her experience but You know so so things are still coming together but it seems like those teams that are making late changes late. Ads may be the ones that starts to really hit their stride. And before i get to a team that's added some pieces in his starting to move in the dallas wings. Let's talk about your mistakes. Got that win over minnesota and from those of us on the outside looking at washington this year. It was okay. How's tina charles going to do. They're sitting ninth right now. Three in five coach tibo said early. Let's not get carried away with the expectations. This team is going to get better as the season goes on teen got four thirty point games this year in the mvp conversation. Some changes to the lineup. I think zealous started the other day. Give us some insight on where the mystics are right now. I mean they're right where they want to be. I think right now in terms of having tina charles played some of her best basketball and she's just been consisted. Like you said i mean. She has worth point games but she also has the ability to be a great leader for this team. In the absence of elena della donne who has not seen the court. I think that is still something. That is intriguing to say the lease when she gets back into the mix with tina charles but the fact that she is leading the league in scoring let china i think that speaks volumes to what she wants out of this experience in. Dc and the fact that washington won a championship in twenty nineteen. That was enticing for her to make her way back to a place. That's comfortable for her. I mean she played for my tibo in connecticut for years. He drafted her. She won the mvp under his religion. Twenty twelve so. I think with back kind of hunger around you have asked the players. What does that hunger for a championship due to you. Even though you've already won one and this was terrible. She said it just empowers me. You know to have somebody. You almost wanna do it for her. you know. and she's in her fourth year this year area as she did it in a couple of beers and the league for a while so she she kind of kind of echoed. What a lot of the players who are remaining on the roster for washington wanna championship. They have a player like tina charles until they weren't a winner for her then just makes them go harder. So i think my tibo. He says it properly everyday when the day and take it step by step. And you know he's never gonna say advocates like we're gonna do it. Even though the underbelly of that is we want to do it all. But it's not gonna happen right away. There's still some rumblings of emma meesseman making return after the olympic break. So that's also something to keep an eye on for washington. But i think they have a great mix of players. Sydney weeks unfortunately is out with an ankle injury by. That's not gonna take too long to come back from and she's going to be back out there striking for three so i think the spread offense is is really great to see. My asia hines allen. Had a fantastic year last year second team all wnba at the end of the bubble situation and she just made some great strides her confidence and she played big minutes in france so her conditioning. Great she says you know. I've never played this many minutes. You know before last year. Then i went overseas to play the more big minutes so she center epic shape mentally and physically you. She's taking that load off of players. Like tina charles so with both of them on the floor. They're really starting to come together. In gel and costa said today prior to the la sparks game. That they really don't have practice time to gain that chemistry that chemistry that those two in particular are gaining. That is happening in game. So that's fun for me to see. Because he can't get into the practice excel. I like watch a dynamic of of those two players really play off of one. Another when tina's double teamed my asia moves well and relocates to the sweet spot. And they're they're really find me one another that way. Yeah i mean to. Your point hines allen. Had thirty two against vegas again. That washington just came so close. I mean you win. That one in your confidence is sky high right with the way we've seen vegas performance stretches any word on windows dot will be back. Is that still a little bit of a mystery. It is a mystery in. It's unfortunate because it. It's almost like you know you see you're at the games you know from from the eyeball tests. There's no she's not laboring. She's not limping around. She's not the stiffer tight. So keep an eye on. I'm bob so much. I never i see those i watch it every little paying but no no word yet at the beginning of the season chievo had said you know three to six games. But you know now. We're seven games in here in dc in. I still no no word. You know whatever we get the report of injuries. She's always on there saying out back so we're just patiently waiting No news i guess is good news but i mean. I don't think you're any setbacks by me saying that al setback. So that's good news part of it so i guess we're just kind of anxiously waiting for the all clear by the training staff to permit Second back surgery after that initial went after the twenty nine championship. So i know. She's trying to contend for a roster spot with usa basketball as well so that's something to consider so. I don't know what that looks like for. Elena della donne but i hope she gets back out there because i want to see that mix that we never got to see last year with words Cloud out there and afghans to see that mix. I want to see what that looks like. Yes ima back. I don't know how. Coach steve will make all that work on the roster but anyway that's why he's one of the best in the business all right But you're right. Tina charles is averaging twenty six points per game to lead the wnba guba. Wally at twenty two per game so a little bit of a tina's up there. Speaking of the last team we wanted to ask you about is the dallas wings wings. Who have won two in. And it's not just that they've won two in a row and they are in that spot so the bottom up goes indiana chicago. Minnesota washington mystics in dallas But the two that they want were against seattle but the heartbreaker shot by a rejig. Wally and against phoenix so against two teams that are headed them in the standings and just curious as i mentioned earlier sort of that theme of getting players back in the mix you know. Now they've got sought to sabally Who's who's healthy and playing and obviously marina mabry is having a tremendous season has to be the front runner right now for for most improved from last year but You know with the rega- with her scoring ability. I like this young wings team and now they've got a leash gray back as the other player..
