Kanye West Brings out Marilyn Manson, DaBaby at Donda Event
"I just picture you know me being a Kanye fan. I only see myself existing in Kanye's world. And being a loyal supporter to report the news. But you know, last night he had a big performance at Soldier Field in Chicago. He's you know, releasing a new album. He's been doing some of these big stadium tours. And they are far from what you would call a normal record release or just any normal performance in any way shape. Well, he's selling out stadiums to listen to the album, right. He's not even performing which is really unique. Yeah, but the thing is, is that there's also been some of these other different types of, you know. Pop ups of different types of other types of famous hardest, other things that are coming into these types of acts, and I saw this on Buzzfeed's news today, A Kanye West brought out Marilyn Manson and the baby out on stage at his latest album, Listening to Party, even though one of them has a sexual assault allegations, and the other one has anti gay allegations against them, which is causing A pretty huge backlash. And, you know, we all know Kanye Kanye is the greatest artist of a generation, self proclaimed self proclaimed, He's I. The thing is that I love. I love how confident he is a part of my reason why I love God. He so much as I kind of buy into the craziness of it because I'm like dude graduations like one of the best albums ever like that album is a killer. And the thing that you can just keep progressing and keep making hits and being a success and then also dive bombing in your life. The dude's an absolute treasure. But when

Are You Actually Kinky?
"Lately there have been some truly salacious stories on the news about powerful celebrity men who've crossed some lines with women they were dating and these have been sort of aftershocks of the metoo movement. Where these new accusations. I'm thinking of armie hammer. And the allegations of abuse and resume or marilyn manson's rape room brought back this important conversation on the ways that power and fame can be abused but the fascinating thing this time as the way. These celebrities have responded to these accusations because the reply is essentially. Oh no you don't understand. That was consensual. We are kinky kink is one of those things that's hard for people to understand myself included. Because i think for a long time i was like whatever you have your shit you do behind closed doors and that's your business. I don't really feel the need to interrogate too deeply beyond a basic sort of understanding. That shouldn't shame anyone else's kings you know and so when the internet seized on the gripping details of army hammers supposed cannibal fetish as like. Should we even be lampooning. This is this a legitimate kink. Would there be a right way to do this. But then i realize everyone was talking about. What a wild fixation this cannibalism thing supposed to be and there was much less focused on what army hammers accusers. Were actually saying about their relationship. Which was fetish or not. Their relationship started one way and then it took this turn we at the cut. Believe these women who are making these accusations and we believe that the men they were involved with are hiding behind the mantle of kink because kink isn't an excuse for abuse but in order for us to understand where the lines actually get crossed as a culture. We're going to have to engage with the ideas of kink much more fully in all of its richness and deep deep complexity. We understand that like you can be like vicariously like excited by violence even though real violence is disgusting. And you don't want to actually hurt people but it gets like framed in this way where it makes it sound like if somebody is kinky there beyond criticism and that's not what it means. This is lux traum. And i am a longtime sex educator and an abuse survivor someone who thinks a lot about abuse kink i think people think oh la king is choking people and kids like leaving bruises on people and can be but that's not really what it is so what is case. Everyone i talked to had a different way of explaining it. What keep means differs for different people will kick is a very specific subset of the arabic and it can mean a lot of things. If one feels that one is kinky then one is kinky for lux alp. Traum kink is very much about consent in a kink. Situation it might. It might look like the dam has all the power control but the real control lies with the submissive person. Because it's not the purest iteration of like safe consensual kink. Unless you can say no or say you're safe word or say whatever and make it all stop immediately. This is a very clear dividing line right for armie hammer. The women said stop and he kept going for marilyn manson. It was an entire lifestyle. Where if you said. Stop your punished more. But just like an all consensual sex kinky or not. There's a lot of nuance and negotiation. That needs to happen between the people involved. And it's all within this context of wanting to be giving there's so much pressure on you to be compliant too. Please your partner to do all these things. That has nothing to do with king but when you are in a kink environment that can like be taken to the nth degree because so much of kink about exploration about going into a known taboo terrain you have to be on the same page. There's these moments where i'm like. Oh or like. I would be surprised with the thing that i had never expressed interest in. I maybe didn't wanna do it. Don't think there is this bright dividing line between abuse and kink. All this stuff is just like there's no like three step guide for like dealing or there is but it's like talk to people have conversations like be willing it's the easiest thing in the hardest thing to hurt the ones you love to act out scenarios aren't normally like you to play with power. It's playing with fire. Really and yet culturally kink doesn't talked about with gravity until something goes horribly wrong gets whispered about as the super freaky unspeakable thing or it has a reputation of being a gonna dorky form of adult dungeons and dragons. You know like something. Couples try to spice up their marriage after reading fifty shades of grey. I think it's almost jumped straight from being arm. Something that's forbidden to being a cliche and being a joke and we skipped the part where we look at. It has to be taken just as seriously as anything else would do as humans. And i think that was part of what we were hoping to do with this analogy

"Recounted. Um, in a way of looking back. With regret on something that he had done. More so just brazen. This is what I had like this. He talks about murder. He said This was the first time that I seriously considered murder. Right the first time. Anybody else catch that? Yes. You know what I'm saying? Yes. Oh, that's like the first of many, right? And he said it was almost like a rite of passage. Like losing your virginity is how he was thinking of it. Yeah. I mean, it's just so crazy and what did he What's the line that, he said? I mean, there's a whole bunch of he said. Well, I didn't think it was right to take a human life as he contemplated murdering a former bandmate and burning her alive in our own home. He said, Uh, I didn't think it was the right to deny myself the chance of causing someone to die either, especially someone whose existence meant so little to the world and to herself. I mean, hi. By the way, if you're just joining us, we're talking about rocker Marilyn Manson and some of the the allegations against him by a previous girlfriend, Evan, Rachel Wood's who is in actress. And I I just don't understand. Like did this girl get a restraining order against him? Especially after reading this and belittling her and saying that she has no purpose and her existence means nothing. He went on to say, you know, in his statement yesterday that he posted on Instagram a day or two ago, Marilyn Manson said. My intimate relationships have always been consensual and like with like minded partners, regardless of how and why others are now choosing to misrepresent the past. That is the truth. Um what? What to say there? There's there's a little bit of a It's a little bit of like, what's the word? I'm looking for immunity, you know, like because you say it's in a relationship and it was consensual. But that is ah, maybe a top player way of looking at that, as opposed to saying what sort of an atmosphere Did I convince this person to become comfortable with? Is there still any room to ask objectively if something is sexually healthy or not? This is called manipulation and groaning, because if you look at Evan, Rachel Evan Rachel Wood's story It sounds familiar. It sounds like the women who are talking about or one of the ex girlfriends of Armie Hammer. Who says, you know, I wanted him to like me. Wanted, you know, there's there's that vulnerability that somebody if somebody sniffed that out, it's very easy to manipulate that person into Pleasing you and wanting You to think this is okay? Even if your gut is telling you, I don't feel comfortable with this. But I wanted to like me and I want to be perceived as cool. You know, I want to be the cool girlfriend. I think a lot of women, especially young women, have suffered from that. It's very disturbing. Anyway, There's a really good on article in the New Yorker, Um, on Marilyn Manson's reckoning, it's called The Maryland Manson Reckoning. I would definitely, um Check that out. If you want to know more about this because I'm getting irritated. Can I? Can I mention something else about Marilyn Manson that is lighter. Sure that's not the direction that you're thinking. I remember when I was a kid Grant, you might remember this because I feel like this was more of a schoolhouse Rumor. And it was the name of the nation to era of the Internet back in the mid nineties. The rumor was that Marilyn Manson was actually the same actor who played Paul in the Wonder years. I am remember that ever that shook me to my core when I heard that, and I was like, what would you do it, please Paul Marilyn Manson. And I thought of it, and you couldn't just go online and dispel the rumor And so then, for for like a period of time, good bye believed that Paul from the Wonder years was Maryland Mansell. That's scary, too. Also scary. You're not alone. Steve. That was definitely I remember that. And it shook me to the court to because that was such like the wholesome. You know, Winnie and Kevin and Paul is the nerdy guy. I think it was because they both had big noses. And prominent noses, and they're like, Oh, yeah, That's Paul. So we Paul was the best friend. Yeah. Paul was the nerdy guy like him. He was my favorite, My favorite character on that show. Well, this thing you would probably like beautiful people wasn't like kind of a real Italian kid. Like that kid. Yeah, Yeah, but but but dorky. Yeah. Paul Pfeiffer, Paul fights Pfeiffer played by Josh Saviano. Not Marilyn Manson. A k a Brian Warner. All right, Um, just one less thing I would like to say that has nothing to do with Marilyn Manson. I just wanted to mention to everybody that might talk. One of 71 is presenting my talk. Loves local. So even with like all the pandemic optimism, small businesses still need our help. They need our love. So all month long we're going to share some of our our favorite. Some of this Favorite local businesses. That's what really, really excited. It's very exciting, eh?.

"Stradley trainer touching his buttons. Oh, um, Put your own buttons, kids. I I don't know that that is the appropriate Segway into our first God. Holly. What does Holly have to do it? That was her. Okay, Holly. It's hard for me because I don't know who's touching. What buttons? Well, that's part of the reason we have the segments. True. Um, we gotta talk about Marilyn Manson again. So this is a story that has been developing throughout the week. It really started with a conversation with Evan Rachel Wood. Disclosing that the person who she had been speaking of that she had been in a real abusive relationship with, um in her late teens, early twenties was Marilyn Manson. Then, more than more more people stepped forward to talk about their, um Experiences in relationship with Marilyn Manson and I won't even get into the details, but he's no good, very bad person. According to these allegations, very shocking and tragic. Well, what's really interesting is 1st 1st, we learned that his label dropped him. And I almost went down this road yesterday when we talked about that. But it wasn't until I saw this article in People magazine that talks about Phoebe Bridgers talking about Marilyn Manson. That, like, crystallized this for me, And I thought, OK, now we do need to talk about this. So on Thursday, so it was yesterday, Phoebe Bridgers revealed that she she did this over Twitter. That she went to Marilyn Manson's house when she was a teenager with some friends. The tweet goes like this. I went to Marilyn Manson's house. When I was a teenager with some friends. I was a big fan. He referred to a room in his house as the rape room. I thought it was just this horrible frat boy sense of humor, but I stopped being a fan. And then she said, I stand with everyone who came forward. But what's interesting is then she goes on to say In another tweet, the label new management new, the band new distancing themselves now pretending to be shocked and horrified. Is bleeping pathetic. And I thought, you know, that's exactly what I was thinking yesterday when we talked about the label, dropping him when we talked about his management, trying to distance themselves when we even when we talked about band members or members of other bands that were at one time close to Marilyn Manson. Talking about these allegations, as though they've known all along Anybody who is pretending as though they did not know this who was in the inner circle is lying to us and is trying to save their own face right now. Yeah, Yeah. And this is this is very predictable. This has happened many times, you know, after Harvey Weinstein Bill Cosby. You name it and the lesson that Bill Cosby taught us was that These individuals do not exist in a bubble or in a vacuum. Actually, it's a better way to put it. They are able to do what they're able to do precisely because People enable them to do it. It is not to take away the responsibility of the individual in this case, Marilyn Manson for his actions, but to say that his actions were made. Or were allowed to continue beyond a reasonable period of time. Well, there is no reasonable period of time. But what I'm saying is beyond a Um, he was able to continue perpetrating things against people allegedly right. He has not been tried in a court but has made statements in the public and we've Heard credible allegations from people in the public that Indicate we should be concerned. If those allegations are true. Like people like Bill Cosby, he was able to do those things precisely because there were so many people around him. Who We're comfortable with that. In so far is doing something contrary would get in the way of their access and or Connection to him, So he was able to do that stuff because people allowed him to continue to do it because they wanted access or they wanted proximity, or they wanted or the mean quite Possibly they were afraid. Or they were cowardly, but I think it's probably more complicated than just a bunch of people cowering in the you know shadows. I think it's probably a lot more of society in general didn't have much taste for The victims of these particular crimes, right? Like right? We didn't we? I mean, we I guarantee that we or anybody else talking on the radio. 20 years ago. Would be far more critical of the people alleging This behavior than the people alleged to have committed this behavior specifically because Marilyn Manson held the position of power in this, he was the famous one. He was the Um On and anybody who came forward to accuse him him of such behave. This is what makes what emboldens a perpetrator like Marilyn Manson to continue. To abuse is that, um Get a different time. People might not believe the accuser's because maybe they are like Evan Rachel Wood was not at the level of Maryland Manson or any number of the other people whose voices have come forward. Talking about experiences they've had with with, um Marilyn Manson. I mean, and you know, you can tease it out to other celebrities. Talking about even Armie hammer. Some of the people who have come forward to accuse him of certain behaviors are are relative unknowns. And so In a different time, right before the me to movement. We might have written voices like that off because people might have thought they were doing it for their own. But also with the etcetera. We just didn't have a taste of Listening to victims of crime, right if if they were women, and if it was sexual in nature, because ah woman that is a victim of a sexual crime 20 years ago. I mean, even five years ago, probably, but I feel like there is just increasingly been Um, you know, a change in evolution, and part of that is the me to movement. But part of it is also that there are more people controlling media today than there were then you mean that you had a very finite number of people who could publish stories like these. Um there were no platforms, really, for victims to be heard in a way that they're able to be heard today through social media like The system is just such that we are predisposed not predisposed. But we are able now, toe here things that we weren't even most of us. Just even think about or think about, too. Clearly or critically because we didn't really need to. Because I guarantee somebody Evan Rachel Wood would have come out. And then there would have been like, you know, a bunch of talking heads on You know whether it's cable news or Even mainstream media or I should, say Network news. Giving you the 12 reasons why you should be critical of Evan Rachel Wood, right? And now we have, for example, in this tweet directly from the mouth of Phoebe Bridgers. We would not have That would have had to go through Gate keepers 20 years ago..

I mean, we are awkward, too. It's a long story. But today We need to start with Marilyn Manson because we began to hear about some controversy surrounding Well, Evan Rachel Wood made an announcement that Marilyn Manson horrific. Lee abused her for years. That story kind of blew up this week. Um, It's not that we didn't have reason to suspect Maryland. Manson was a problematic figure. We'll talk about that a little bit more in a minute, but I wanted to tell you that we kick things off today, learning That Maryland. Manson has already suffering the consequences of that controversy after being dropped by his record label amid these abuse. Allegations, and I'll just tell you a little bit about our read you a little bit of the statement. From His record label. Loma Vista Recordings. Quote in Light of today. That is yesterday's disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser. Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately due to these concerning developments. We have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects, so that is Immediate Result to the controversy in the allegations that Again to put it bluntly blew up yesterday. Well, you know what I think is really interesting, and I'm sort of just arriving to the scene. Because I don't pay a lot of attention to Marylin Manson. It seems like the consequences have arrived a little too late. And I'm saying that because I read this op Ed, um from NBC News, written by Jill flip of IQ. Philip Philip. Oh, Vic. Sorry, Philip. Oh, Vic, who, by the way, is the author of a book called Okay, Boomer. Let's talk how my generation got left behind, and she basically says he guys f Y I Um, you're all arriving to this story about Maryland. Manson about Like 20 years too late. And what she does is she goes through. Conversations that have been had with both Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson. That basically say Hey, it didn't take you know it didn't take You know a Sherlock Holmes detective to figure out that Evan Rachel Wood has been talking about this. And Maryland, Manson has been talking about his treatment of her all along. And it goes back to, um, a few years ago when Evan will Evan Rachel what has always been very open about the fact that she was in an abusive relationship when she was in her late teens. But more specifically, she actually testified in a in an effort to get a law passed called the Phoenix Act. And this is the Phoenix Act is The the act in the state of California that extends the statute of limitations on abusive relationships. Okay, so she testified before Congress. About her experience in an abusive relationship, and in this in this testimony, she talked about a man she dated when she was 18 years old. Okay, again. Hello, 18. It does not take A private investigator to figure out that that was Maryland Manson. They were they had a public relationship. She talks about? How he groomed her when he began growing her when she was about 18 years old. He physically abused her, deprived her of sleep, starved her and stocked her when she tried to leave him by calling her incessantly. Now. Meanwhile, Over here in 2009 in an interview with Spin magazine, Marilyn Manson is talking about this very thing, he says of his relationship with Evan Rachel Wood. In 2009. Okay, So that's 12 years ago? Yep. He says he called Evan Rachel Wood 158 times while self mutilating and then blamed her for it. He said. Quote. I wanted to show her the pain she put me through. It was like I want you to physically see what you've done. So sit with that for a second. He's calling her 158 times while he is inflicting Pain on himself. To show her what he has done to her and then other others, So I mean I could go on. But there's other stories about him in another interview, saying that he has fantasies about smashing her skull with a sledgehammer. So what this says to me is what we've already learned in other situations similar to this. This behavior was allowed to continue in plain sight. Maybe People were choosing not to see it, so they just walked right by it right. But the evidence was still there in a culture at a time and a place where people didn't take this kind of thing seriously. And Marilyn Manson, much like a lot of other celebrities who have now been called to account for their behavior was able to operate in this manner without Level of seriousness that, in retrospect, seems totally warranted. And sadly. Not taken seriously at all. What I mean by that is like very clearly he was showing us who he was, as you said, And the difference is that no. Nobody took things seriously. Then we're now in a culture post me to where people the and I shouldn't say people because I'm sure there were many people who took this seriously. But institutions now take these things seriously in a way that they did not before, right, right, And I think it's sort of I don't know. This could act as a cautionary tale to the Army hammers. Shall we say of today and others where you if if you were speaking so brazenly aloud about Behaviors that you engage in, um, that are abusive in nature. Yeah. The onus is on. Both of the onus is on us to believe that, but it's a little bit like that frog in boiling water. The more Maryland Manson talked, the more he normalized his behavior. And the more we allowed for it right, So he's making these again..

Right. So you know, I think that to be fair that was an Oscar caliber performance. Man. I mean like he just had to play a rockstar for a star there. He had to play a man who wanted to suck his own dick, so bad. He broke his own this own neck, strong, neck muscles to actually break your own like just from the will to try and lick your PP, right? It's funny took this role to it was only two years after he did wedding crashers, a huge, you know, after he did what? It was two years before he did the hangover. But like he's such a different person in the hangover from like, then he was Bradley Cooper, right? Lick his own dickhead his performance in wedding crashers is under. The real him. He was forever. It's frightening to think if that is. But anyway, yeah. Guys zai-qing out there, if you know of other really petty performances, we need to drum up for the Oscars build up, please tweet at us. I can't keep the charade straight up. So I read a article about Marilyn Manson in the ninety s he had river move to do it. Yeah. Turned out. It wasn't real. Hey, we've all been there. My right. Yeah. This issue when he leaves the off the the consultation office he goes on the waiting room bunch of guys wearing the same neck IMO. And he's I forget him. And they can't do anything for shit. That is like the real world version of that is just people sticking stuff in there rectum. People maybe their people, but there's a lot of emergency room visits. Like if you talked to a doctor in emergency medicine, they've removed all sorts of objects from people's butts sister-in-law's since she said someone came in with a full onion full. Yeah. And it's just like even given new meaning to the phrase, onion moody. And you just wanna try them when they're like, I was cooking. Right. I slipped from my kitchen counter. How do I put this round I down onto this? Let's talk about Jay z. And Beyonce's diet yellow they're doing it. They're trying to really change the world. So they have beyond say just, you know, put it Instagram posts up last week that was basically saying like, you know, I'm doing this the green print initiative to have people like really trying to embrace a vegan diet just start off small do like, maybe a plant based breakfast do meatless Mondays. And hopefully, you know that will lead to greater change because if you start incrementally, you could go into full-blown vegan diet, it's a great cause. Because also their website like actually kind of shows you like what you eating even one plant based meal can do for like lessening, the resource strains, we have or clearing the air up and things like that. But the real hook here is that she's like sign up to the website. You know, tell us about your plan to go vegan, and you could win beyond say or Jay z tickets for life. Right. And I think that is if you're going to motivate people to give up meat. I think beyond say's figured something out. Right. Like, you can come to shows for life. And then there's like an asterisk thirty years. Right. There are mixed messages because they're assuming that you're only gonna live for thirty years, which I mean. I mean, they're baking in the fact that we only have twelve years left because the logo warming into the equation, and they would know right because they're in the aluminum body, or maybe they just know that they're only going to be touring for thirty years. Yeah. I mean. Yeah. Well, you should hear how my grandparents friends talk like old black church going people. They really like initially were on some like, I think they worship the devil. O J's. Well, I mean as of all the music video thing, which though like didn't someone come out that one of her drummers or something like was saying this right for cat died or some shit. Yeah.
