"I know you're on a hall of fame tracking to upstate New York for this upcoming weekend what's the hall of fame story line that you're looking to follow and then be able to write about after being in Cooperstown this week yeah there's you know big class of course six people going in I think it's that the overriding story line I think you have to say is gonna be Mariano Rivera because a he's a Yankee and the Yankees icing the cake most of the air out of the room wherever they are anyway the fact that he had all those great moments in the last Yankees dynasty the fact that Rivera is going in as the first unanimous hall of Famer ever which is still amazing to me I'm kind of sorry by the way he is he got unanimous vote because yeah I always get a kick out of it all like Ty Cobb Babe Ruth nobody was there I don't know who the voters would be that would look at that Babe Ruth Ty Cobb and say no yeah not good enough I'm not gonna vote for that guy but they did it and and it's marcato finally unanimous so y'all you'll of course be the big story line you'll have some you know a lot of emotional Todd with the White House a day going in posthumously and and I I believe his wife is gonna talk and and and yeah I'm sure that'll be really a touching and the tragic moment that he's not there yeah you have the controversy we heard that last December the batters committee put at least now and Harold Baines and and course a lot of people had their say that they don't think either one of those guys are hall of Famers and you know but they'll be there as well which means it'll be a big moment for the Chicago teams because listener long coat time with the cubs and Harold Baines with the white Sox so you know it's kind of a little bit of something for everybody in this year's class I think sounds like your last story lines cues problems got it will be re new over the weekend have a good time up in Cooperstown we appreciate out but on board with

Mariano Rivera is Hall of Fame bound after amazing journey to MLB
"The hall of fame right unanimous vote. First major league baseball player to ever have a unanimous selection into baseball's hall of fame. So the president tweeted about this yesterday. Quote, congratulations to Mariano Rivera on unanimously being elected to the national baseball hall of fame. Not only player, but a great person, I'm thankful for Moriano support of the opioid, drug abuse commission, and fitness gove, hashtag inter man. And that was his entrance music when he'd come into a baseball game understand, man. So he was thinking Marianna support for the opioid drug abuse. Right. His work on combating that awful disease. A simple endemic a nice tweet. These were some of the responses under that tweet from Donald Trump. Go blank yourself. You're racist. You stupid bastard year endangering this nation. What are you tweeting about baseball? When the government is shut down. Your son is going to prison Rivera was the goat. One of the things. I agree with you on you blank

"Simply understand fully mortgage confidently. I love this. I don't know what's going on. But you wanna talk about the topics were hitting. This is the third day in a row, we've got absolutely full lines. And we always want to be open to an nimble to the things that you are interested in. So here is we're just hitting the airwaves in your market on your wonderful affiliate. If you're just tuning in. Thank you for being here. My perspective on Mariano Rivera is this remarkable player. Incredible. The greatest closer of all time. Great human being should not have been the first unanimous hall of Famer violating. Whether you think it's stupid or not a tradition that goes back a century. I would have preferred that baseball weight is for someone who played every day. And I think the added reality that he's a Yankee for most of us outside of New York City speaks to the fact that the rules in the enhancement are a little different for guys in major markets in baseball happens to be playing some other parts of the country. A lot of you agree. A lot of you disagree. And we're gonna take your perspective on whether you think the voters from the Baseball Writers Association of America, the four hundred and twenty-five voters each of whom voted for Mariano got it right and making him the first and currently only unanimous hall of fame selection in the history of the game. And I get all the stats greatest. Closer of all time. Most saves of all time. Forty two postseason saves best postseason ERA in the history of the game. Fewer runners who scored on him in the playoffs eleven than men who have walked on the moon, twelve the Lynch pin of a Yankees Ron of domination through five championships. Who the guy who literally came in and closed the deal down and sealed those victories. And I think it should have been somebody else. And let me offer this up to. Almost without exception. Let me say this because this is without exception. There has never been a player who's been a first ballot hall of Famer who hasn't deserve to be in the hall of fame. And of whom I could not are you could not sit and recite accolade after accolade after accolade. This is not a shot at Mariano Rivera. It's just if you're going to change the goalposts if you're going to change the rules, if you're going to take a sport that has been defined by a generation more than that for a century by the numbers and the traditions, whether you like them or not part of the reason the steroids era, at least for me was so offensive is held the numbers sacred. Maybe that's dumb five hundred home runs meant something to me three thousand hits meant something to me three hundred wins, which we're not gonna see again meant something to me a guy got when over three on the last eight as queer and went to hit two ninety nine. It was different than a guy who but one for three and hit three hundred Ted Williams. And I went off on this yesterday on the TV show hitting four zero six and not winning. The MVP and nine hundred forty one because Lou Garrick had a fifty six game hit streak drives me crazy. The numbers matter. There's a historical not to sound cheesy. But almost for me spiritual connection between these numbers that used to transcend time in baseball, and that went away with the story steroids era, and one of the few that was left, even if it was predicated on something that most of us don't agree with was this idea that no one was going to get in with one hundred percent of the vote. And I knew it was going to go away. And you knew it was going to go away. I just didn't want to be forgot that didn't play every day. It doesn't matter who it would have been doesn't matter. What pitcher doesn't matter? What market the first time it happened? It should have been well thought out one of the voters out there who didn't have the guts to take the ridicule should have put it in empty ballot and withheld empty ballot. When it was filling who it should be. Miss the Mark on Griffey miss the Mark Maddox long ago. Mike trout's a long way from now. But to me that is the level of excellence, it should be and not even Mannix because Labor Day, and I could get closer to approval on a starting pitcher. It's hard for me on on closer literally played the fewest innings. I'd love to see a list of the innings played of guys in the hall of fame. You know that Mariana is going to be at or near the bottom of that list. Literally stepped on the field when it mattered less than most people in the hall of fame. That's my take. So we got full lines. And let's do it. You think I'm crazy? You think I'm right. Eight five five two one two four CBS Stephen Las Vegas. Appreciate your listening, buddy. You're on CBS sports radio. Yes. Hi. Thank you. I I come into the camp. I think the whole issue is ridiculous. Think about that. We're making tears now out of hall of famers. If I'm a voter. I mean, both of them first ballot or now unanimous if I'm a voter if I think someone's a hall of Famer, then why should I vote? No because they shouldn't get in in the first ballot. Do what they have different tiers inside there. I mean, if I get in I get my bus. I just think that. This tendency in society to supersize things. I mean, do I do I now compare players are they lesser hall of famers? ID's should be a hall of Famer or not and I'm Yankee fan, and I don't care. I think this whole unanimous thing is is is silly. And now we're having a whole brouhaha over at what are the what are the voters credibility mean? They do this every year. Well, he doesn't deserve to be a first ballot. How do you measure that? Steve is great points. And I love and appreciate the call. And or I capable of being one of the guys in the room back in the first hall of fame voting to have said, I I don't know. I think maybe Babe Ruth should be unanimous. Instead of ninety five point whatever percent. He was to fifteen of two hundred and twenty six or Tyco, I would've that's just not the way that it went. That's just not the direction that baseball win the game of baseball and the conversation about the hall of fame has forever. As long as I've been alive been peppered with this time of year. I'm looking at one of them now from two thousand sixteen from friend of the show, richer Justice. You can go all the way back. Why there will never be one hundred percent person is debate. It's debate is right. It's wrong. But it was the tradition and again for me, the tradition of baseball. It's history. It's idiocy synchronizes are more connected to the meaning of the game. They are more part of. The DNA of the game. Then the NBA or the NFL the NFL's modern era. Didn't get rushed brought to us at its latest date. If you wanna is probably a later in this, but I guess Lamar hunt and the beginning of the actual Super Bowl and the merging of those two leagues the NBA's modern era, multiple will point to Jordan or magic and bird. That's not very long ago, I'm older than the modern era of the NBA. My parents are older than the modern era of the NFL, but baseball is traditions. Have been around a lot longer than any of us talk. And listen and hanging out here on the program, and it will I hope continue long after we are gone. And so for me the traditions matter, even if they seem silly. Two thousand eighteen is two thousand eighteen I get we have different standards. Again. We all Twitter accounts. We all think we're right. We all think we're smarter than the next guy. We all think than our perspective is the perspective. But for whatever reason the guys who set this up back in the day thought there should not be a hundred percent hall of Famer. And my point is this if there's not Babe Ruth, not Ted Williams, and it's not Willie Mays, and it's not Hank. Aaron if it's going to be somebody. And I think that's an if it shouldn't be a closer. It shouldn't be a closer. Eight five five two one two four CBS Jason in Connecticut. Listen, you're on CBS sports radio. Hey, bill. What's up, brother? How are you tonight? I'm good, buddy. Welcome back in here. Man. Listen, I got to poetry comments hang up. Listen, you're so right about the Maryono thing. I mean baseball Sunday terrible job at the volcano way. If you're not gonna put Rousson DiMaggio Aaron Jackie Robinson. If those guys aren't a hundred percent of the vote and achey fan. I loved Marietta, you should have not at Williams. There's no way he should have been the first player to get one hundred one hundred percent of the votes. Terrible. Listen, what James harden, and I know you of them. But listen, I'm a Michael Jordan the guy. He's the best ever. Michael Jordan didn't dribble a hundred times and put everybody to sleep away. James harden? I know he doesn't have very much help on the floor and always got. No, Chris, Paul, no Capello or anything this guy. Put you to sleep. When you watch me all gonna crush Jason. I'm gonna crush Jason just not going to get to it. Because I promise you, we will do it this way. Jason thanks for the call, buddy. I'm gonna crush Arden. My I mean, I've got a bunch of stats data and research to back this up. But I think harden is all the sound and the fury that is going to signify. Absolutely nothing. The postseason, and I mean, I don't want to go up and hard and right now. But but in Houston gets mad at me because I'm hard on that organization. I think guards as I just think it's meaningless. I I think Westbrook was fun to watch. It was meaningless. And he should have been the MVP eight five five two one two four CBS. But right now, we're talking about the whole thing because that's what you guys want to discuss. And as folks drop off the line, there'll be a spot open. So please keep trying to get through on some of your tweet net. Meet sportswriter sports REIT yard that. You can't get through full lines. We will try to get your calls. Tom in Arizona. Thank you for listening. You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, Bill great show. But you're great. Thanks, man. Okay. So I'm a Boston Red Sox fan. Maybe one. I'm okay with Mario precedence. It should should've happened a long time ago years ago. The the first ballot somebody you should have got into the for the I five guys it's hard to believe that they weren't unanimous. If teeter does not get in on a unanimous vote on his first ballot. Then we construct a question just what the heck was up with this last one. I'm okay with it. Tom and thank you for for the coal for the response, grabs like, I'd like to hear from a Red Sox fan who feels the way that they Connor greens. Kovacs? Do I respect that you're out there? I disagree with you. But I respect your ability to honor and point toward what you think is the appropriate accolade for a guy that you have to have rules against with your every fiber two thousand nineteen probably not his actual name tweets. Sportsreiter sports REIT are what you are missing on Rivera's. He may have played the fewest innings, but everybody got was a cheek clenching moment. That is you're absolutely right. It is a totally fair point. And of all people. I certainly am a believer in clutch moments, and that is an enhancement in excellent or the opposite. I agree. And I'm not trying to take it. It's the same thing as argue about the top five players in any given sport. Whoever you put number five you're insulting even though you are doing nothing, but meaning to praise them because they're in. On that list. I mean, I've had this talk with Magic Johnson. Magic Johnson doesn't like to hear that. You think he's too and Jordan's one even though it's the ultimate praise. I understand by the just the definition of this conversation. It feels like a shot at one of the nicest guys in greatest players in history the game. It's not. But there can only be one guy who was the first one hundred percent. And I wish it was somebody else for the reasons that I put out there guy in Florida. Thank you for listening. You're on CBS sports radio. Are you doing Bill? Good, buddy. What's what's going on great show? I wish I could have called in last night with the discussions, but I got in tonight anyways. I'm okay with Mariano getting in great guy. I'm a Boston Red Sox fan big time. Patriots everything. The only thing I have to say is who cares. I think the your other call a called in and was mentioning that. I don't care if you're eighty nine percent or eighty five or ninety five you get into the hall of Famer and hall of fame. I think we're making too big of a deal over this whole thing. I mean when they get together today said, hey, by the way, I was seventy eight seventy nine oh, I was eighty two. I mean, man, he's a great player. Great guy. Glad he got in and hundred percents doesn't really even matter to me guy. Great call. I mean, obviously the differently. But I also recognize in your in your perspective that I'm weird. It's fine. I'm accustomed to it. I it matters to me. And here's the thing right now. Go down this. This rabbit on eight five five two one two four CBS. If you want to weigh in her sports writer, sports, REI TR my last name. All these guys are gonna feel all the fields all the emotions when when they find out there. And when they when they give their speech, but you don't get to that spot that all these guys are at if you're not incredibly competitive, I promise you it bothers people who have been inducted before some of them at least probably most of them that somebody else got that one hundred percent Mark, and it will bother the next guy. Who's not one hundred percent now that it's happened..

"Changed his mind. Like who doesn't vote for Mariano Rivera who does it vote for Ken Griffey junior? Make them wait a year one guy that wants to be called get tougher. I didn't vote for him because I don't think. Well, Mike Schmidt. My brain's not quite right. He was okay. Mike schmidt. Fantastic. Thank you may. You may have I may have you may have not predated pre Mike Schmidt may have predated. You know, I saw plenty of good. My real great years from about what seventy five he probably really started having great years what seventy five seventy four seventy guessing about even by the time. I was a young baseball fan in the eighties. Mike Schmidt was Mike Schmidt was like God light stuttered basement is. Unbelievable. All right. Adam Schefter is ready to go. He joins us son ESPN without ESPN. Chicago dot com is with Carmen in Europe will make sure you follow them on Twitter. He is at Adam Schefter. And if you've got ideas on the phones about fixing overtime, sit tight we'll get to those. This is gonna last like two more weeks. I've got him. What's your plan for fixing overtime? Why no plan for fixing over time? I'm Morrison the NFL's plan for fixing over time. And again, I was of the mind that it's not really fair and equitable that a team could win the toss. And basically not have to give the ball back as the patriots did. But you know, what just compare and contrast that to the game earlier in the day and in that game. The saints won the toss and they got the ball and the Rams defense forced an interception. And when I was of the mind that teams should at least get the opportunity to touch the football. We had a healthy debate on NFL live on ESPN on Monday. And Ryan Clark made a great point about the fact, and it was backed up by other people. You don't like it. Then have your defense. Stop deposing. We're not asking you to not allow them not to score. Because essentially you kick a field goal. But you we are actually that depends not to allow a touchdown. And in this particular case, it's a team sport and defensive. Part of the team and the team especially teams are now again in the postseason. It doesn't seem right to me. I think what I would prefer me personally NFL is not ask my opinion, a ten minute overtime. Yeah. Just played right. Not sudden death but just play the period outright. Ten minutes, twelve minutes number twelve minutes. Okay. I don't think I'd mind that any any thought that they should in the playoffs flat out reward the team that had home field advantage in say you get the ball. I know you got hope you'll advantage. That's enough. No, I don't I don't agree with that. Okay. And then don't make some kind of Pro Bowl gimmicky winning Pro Bowl team. No, that's silly. How about this? Maybe they should just play seven on seven. Let's really get crazy. Take all the in. What do you guys think? You're what do you think? Roles. Absolutely perfect the way they are. The way you're paying a shared by people played the game by and large. I'm just telling you wouldn't mind your idea. I said that on Monday to if you were to tell me in the playoffs. You just get a play an extra period. I'd be good with that. Now, you you do run into. Well, what happens if it's tied again, then you're going into a sixth quarter of football. And it's dangerous in guys. I mean, that's a very good point mate. What if and again, I'm I'm making this up. Okay. Again, what if you play? Wildcard round the lake game Sunday and bears and eagles all of a sudden go to overtime and the bears pulled out and the bears have to be in LA for shattered a game. Now six days just played an extra twelve fifteen minutes. Maybe double overtime, right? Coach fair. That's there's the rub in that. Like, I like the idea on the service of just playing out an extra period. But there is the problem with that potentially now. So we get back to your point where it's a team sport. Yes. It is. And and if you want the ball back again the defense you give up a field goal. Don't give up and I have very little sympathy for the chiefs. I mean, look at the patriots went seventy five yards down their throat three third tens. I mean, it's hard to feel bad for the chiefs. I would've. And I think there was so much overtime, right? No. No, no, the size was at the end of the fourth quarter. Yeah. Okay. Okay. But by the way, there's no aside the chiefs win that game. That's right. Yeah. Because that would have been the pick off. Yes. That is correct. That was on that last Dr one hundred percent credit, and that's what like we're debating over time. And we're talking about the controversy for the first game. Whereas listen, let me say this for the record. You don't need to hear from me. Everybody who watched the game knows. It was the most egregious miscall. We've ever seen in the postseason saying that and follow me here. The saints. Get the ball after a long completion to take in I down. I think it was at the twenty yard line. The Rams twenty maybe twenty two right? Okay. Firsthand. I and I think he's a minute fifty three left. The Rams have one time out through the ball. Firsthand. They throw the ball and Michael Thomas, and I said to myself, what are you doing? A good throw in that. That's not an issue though. Hold on. Point is is a chance of an incompletion. Yeah. Here's the point. If you run the football three straight place and the Rams used their one time out. You're going to bring will watch on your kicker, reliable at home. Good kicker to try roughly a forty yard field goal to win the game. And if he makes it the Rams are going to get back to ball with about twenty seconds and no timeouts. True games over. Yep. Does the NFL have any interest in possibly tweaking the rules about overtime? Overtime. The over time. That's what I'm asking. I I'm Jami. We're going to get to here. Okay. All right. So that's probably going to stay as it is even I would say, I would think it would. I'm not her any groundswell. Boy, we gotta get this changed. Will. They definitely address what happened at the man and the non call, and if coaches should be allowed to challenge or a booth review should be allowed in those circumstances. Well, first of all let me say that if you want to make pass interference challengeable. That would not change the circumstances of Sunday's game at all because there was no penalty. Call. There's not what are you challenging nothing. Trying to get to like is there a way to correct that. And do they have to address here? Here's where I am on that issue. And I don't know how you do it the people on the competition committee a much smarter than me. But I would just say this that a coach is given three challenges three challenges. He should be allowed to use those challenges. However, the heck he wants to use them. If you want to challenge a play like that. Hey that was passed. The appears I'm challenging that. He should be allowed to do that. To me, you get three if you're at a challenges and that play happens. Guess what that's on you? You decide the challenge that fourth in one spot of the ball. Okay. I I don't know how you do that. I don't know. How you introduce it into the rule book. I don't know what the languages, but to me a coach has three challenges and replays in place to make sure that we don't have any place the likes of which we saw Sunday that we're still talking about post-facto. So however, the competition can he wants to do that to me? Coach you got three challenges you can challenge. Whether the guy held a football spot of the ball. I down not a first down turnover turnover. Whatever it is. But if you're at a challenge that point you don't get the challenging somehow that should that play should be allowed to be challenged in my mind, it's bad import. But we haven't seen that happen. We'll see if they continue to discuss it. We'll see what comes of it. But nothing right now. Well last week we knew the bears were interested in Kareem hunt at some point now. Other teams are chiming in saying. Oh, yeah. If Fremont becomes available, and we ended up finding out what's going to happen with cream hunt. We'd certainly be interested. What teams are those whose out there that would be interested in agreement. Well, listen, you're you're talking about a guy who twenty three years old. Who led the league in rushing in his rookie year, and basically get exiled in the second year, and what he did was agreed and unforgivable and unconscionable. But in the world of football that doesn't change the fact that he's going to draw some interest. He's been in anger management classes regularly since the chiefs cut him, and you said to be making progress. So I just think you think of all the people that worked in Kansas City with Kareem hunt that part of that. I mean, they're they're dispersed around the league right there in Chicago there in Cleveland, and Indianapolis what are these Andy Reid disciples? It's not all of them. I would think would have interest in them. And that's just a starting point. Okay, there mainly more. What happens if I'm making this up? The Pittsburgh Steelers lose let me unveil cream months on the street. You know, what let's go on cream on. But one year deal loaded up with incentives. I mean that that's that's where this gets interesting. I can tell you that there are there are there are definitely teams interested what landing spots for Levy. I'm bell. And the other guy Donio Antonio Brown. Basically Lebanon Bill is in a situation where. I mean, the Pittsburgh Steelers could tag him. I don't think they will. I think it'd be free agency. Look at teams that need running backs that have cap room jets. Maybe the bills depending on what happens with Shawn McCoy dolphins. Maybe I don't know. I mean, those teams that makes him Cleveland. You know, also th there are a lot of teams that need running backs. So we'll see an Tonio Brown. That's gonna take the right fit. That's a little bit more challenging, and it sucks where. I don't know where he's gonna be traded. Not I can say is that it certainly seems like he's going to be traded. But I don't have a landing spot for your. I if I did I it would it would be on ESPN. I'll say that right now. In a few days, you'll be getting on a plane to go to Atlanta and cover. I don't know how many Super Bowls you've covered. But it's a lot of them when you're getting on that plane and you're going to see Tom Brady and Bill ballot. Check for a ninth time. What are you thinking about? Question. What am I thinking about? I guess I'm not thinking the way that you would think I'm thinking. I'm thinking. I'm really I mean that like I've I've gone to what does she was ninety four. So twenty four twenty six. Yeah. Almost many Tom Brady. You know to me I don't make sound like a player. I to me. It's a work trip. That's all it is. Yeah, it's just a work trip. I'm just thinking budgeting my time. How do I get over to see each the teams what not my coming up for Sunday? That's interesting that you put it that way at them. Because like, I wonder then kin do you think you are fully appreciating what you've seen in covered all these years with this guy? Or is it or are you doing? I guess selfishly. No. Because I'm I'm so. Tunnel vision in my own little work world. Right. That that your point is a good one that I guess I should be stepping back to think that, hey, you're watching the Vince Lombardi and Jim Brown of of your era. Right. And and sometimes I I guess I don't do that. I don't do that at all. Like, I am going with a narrow focus. So when you say, you know, what do you think I know some people that they go to the Super Bowl? And and all they're thinking about is going to go to a party, all we could care less. Right. Like somebody right. Somebody said throughout their any shows. I don't even know who's playing and and so it it's not even a thought my mind. Again. I'm just telling you that. That's what's on my. I'm not thinking boy, I'm gonna go. See this great match. What do I have to get done? That's all I'm thinking. It's interesting. I we'll talk more next week from Atlanta. Thanks as always, thanks guys. Have a great week from the down south. That's Adam Schefter at Adam Schefter on Twitter covering. Yeah. Like, it's twenty fifth Super Bowl. That's that's a lot of them. And I'm just so happy that somebody finally got in unanimously, and we don't have to talk about. That all the time anymore. So does this start like an new trend over the next few years? Do you think we'll see more of this players it just jeeter's up next year? So are we gonna see more unanimous famous in your mind? I would say we're not going to see more maybe one more somewhere along the line. But not many more next year. Those guys aren't getting in the that's what I see from today. Now things can change keep in mind. Edgar Martinez started at twenty five percent and ended at eighty five percent. So you can make a push. But there's no baggage with Edgar like there are like there is what those other steroid guys bonds with fifty nine percent Clemens with fifty nine and a half percent. Of course. It's Mariana Rivera who gets one hundred percent ESPN analyst Mark to share a plate with him in New York to me. He's one hundred percent because when you look at you know, arguably the best pitcher arguably the best center fielder. Yeah. There's a lot of arguments you can make in the history of baseball. There is no argument. You know, tell me another player that's close to what Mariano Rivera was as close, and you take that. And you also take the fact that used the whole package on and off the field the five World Series. What he did from philanthropic standpoint being building churches all over the world. This guy is the whole pack is he's what's right with major league baseball bonds and Clemens seventh year on the ballot. Oh, real movement one way or another here market share. And I'm gonna say out if I had a vote they be out because this is very subjective. Right. Great players. Absolutely the best hitter. In the best pitcher of all time. Unfortunately, the steroid era makes you decide one way or the other. And I think the writers have spoken. I mean, listen, if they were gonna get in they probably would have gotten in by now, and I think the players of this generation that are really against steroids. They kind of look at the past era and say, hey, listen, if you got caught you're not getting in bonds and Clemens with slight gains, but fell short again and there seven times on the ballot. You know, had a blip on the screen, but for for the overwhelming majority time with the had the lead, and he came in games over the the four will join Lee Smith and Harold Baines who were chosen by a hall of fame veterans committee. So those six will go in. Now, you might be wondering about former Rockies Larry Walker and Todd Helton they're not going in. Larry Walker got. Fifty four point six percent of the vote. This is his tenth and final year on the ballot. And so go to veterans veterans. He goes at all. I think he's got a shot there. Eventually I do. Sure. A lot of people that hold. A couple of things against war. I mean, if you look at his skill set and being a five tool player that we've seen very few guys in this town in in other major league baseball cities that had that kind of talent, right? Could hit for power could hit for average could steal bases. If he wanted to had a great ability to run down line drives could throw the ball. But he just was a really talented guy. He had trouble staying healthy enough to stay on the field. And I think I think those who vote for the hall of fame, I think they hold that against him. And the fact that he played part of his career here in Colorado too. Yeah. That seems to hurt because Todd Helton only got sixteen point five percent of the vote and Edgar Martinez who got in played at the king dome, which was a launching pad. His his career stats are less than help his. His career batting average was less. His career home runs was less his career hits less than helton's. And he was a D H. Where Helton played first base had three Gold Gloves. So for some reason Edgar Martinez gets in and Todd Helton barely even gets a look. And so it's there's definitely a bias towards chorus field. There's also a bias. I think towards Denver. We're seeing this in the NFL hall of famous. Well, Denver is like a market on its own or in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the country has basically has its own time zone. It's bright, right. Its own time zone. And we are like a standalone market, and I think that does hurt all the players that play here in Denver, Colorado in every sport. It certainly has. And I I I was one that initially rejected the idea that there would be an east coast bias with respect to former Bronco players going into the football hall of fame. I I've changed my point of view on that. Because it has to be something when you when you go back, and you look and see some of the great players that really get talked about. But they get rejected. I I'm I'm Rick. I'm really anxious to see this year. If the Broncos kind of breakthrough in the in the pro football hall of fame like Steve atwater, John Lynch who didn't play a longtime here. But certainly played long enough. He was a pro bowler for four straight years that he played here. But at water in particular champ Bailey played the majority of his career here. I mean champ as a no brainer. I my hope is that Steve atwater. We'll get in as well. He's the second time finalist this year. And of course, Mr. Boland, I think I think Pat bones going to go in this July, which means to me the Broncos are going to be playing in the hall of fame. Don't know that for a fact, but that's that's my guess six fifteen and we'll check some traffic out with Joel Navarro. How.

"To shore Aureus Lance, Lynn, seven third to hit, ball nine strikeout to first start as a Yankee has for the offense of support Yes now working with the calls Yankees seven nothing shut out of the, White Sox Yankees snapping their season I. Five game losing streak with their first win here in the month of August Lance Lynn through most of the work fifth Yankees pitcher since nineteen, ninety with seven plus scoreless, innings, in, his. First start with the, teams of the Yankees win Red Sox idle Mondays New York back within nine What about the division over the next couple, of months given what we saw this. Weekend the guy's a PTI what we knew going in you know even if it had been a split and certainly at three one the Yankees, should have won last night The Red, Sox are. A lot better the Yankees particularly without without judge Sanchez we knew. That that's more than a run a game yeah that's a big deal so. We knew. That so this doesn't confirm that the Yankees aren't good? They're not gonna says not nineteen, seventy eight the not gonna do a dance and. Catch the, Boston Red Sox 'cause there's nobody deaths not walking through that door, disagree with any of that I don't What I would point out is this was in Fenway and. Things change if it goes to Yankee Stadium there are more games to be played between these two teams yeah I. Think right. Now the Red Sox are demonstrably better they, won the four and they didn't have Chris? Sale, I think. Two things should be point daddy volley came over from, ten to, two starts, he's been terrific he through against the in. The Yankee start I believe he went. Eight innings and gave up three hits. So he's, a Yankee killer because you're. Not sure that sale and you not sure that price. Are, if evolving is that's. Great and the other. Working in the play chase chaplain Chapman is eight. And six since familiarity yes relief, pitchers does. It hurt the greatest relief pitcher of all time Mariano Rivera more. Blown save more blown saves against the Red Sox then the other team have. More chances I believe I'm right, on this, is eight, and six and two seasons against the Red. Sox closer can't be as many decision Getting. To him having to win later he comes in very good science for the rest again they're. All good sized sorta Red Sox Come back and be a witness really really really really. Mattered when you had sixteen teams and the and the winner of the league was the. Only one series that's not the case anymore that's a Red Sox is still. Gotta get perhaps through, the Yankees perhaps through the Astros and. I know they're like eight and a half games ahead of the. Astros now perhaps through Cleveland they might not be.
